So I am aware that I am the only person making Edward II content as far as I can see, bUT if you are writing/drawing my guy then here is some advice from a MASSIVE Edward II nerd:

let's discuss Edward's appearance in excessive detail (yay)

Ok so. The basics: he had blond curly hair that reached his shoulders, parted in the middle in the style of the time. And a beard. Or at least he does in his effigy, in which we can imagine he is 43, his age at the time of death.

I mean. Let's take a moment to appreciate his hair. It is A Look that I want to emulate with all my heart ands soul. Just me? Fine.

In earlier depictions of him he is clean shaven. For example, this drawing of him when he was accepting the title of Prince of Wales from his father

look at my little guy (literally little, because the picture turned out tiddly and I don't know why). Lmao. Anyway, here are some more pictures of Edward II.

I sometimes see people say that this is a young Edward III, but as this was produced in 1326 I doubt it. I rarely see drawings of royalty before they become active in politics, which Edward III at the tender age of 14 had not yet become. So it's more likely that this is just a very youthful looking Edward II.

Again, this is probably Edward II. It's not specified, but it was produced during his reign so we can safely assume it's the man himself.

ok, so those are some drawings of him, what next?

unfortunately we don't know what his eye colour or complexion was. I'd imagine his eyes were probably blue or grey as it's quite rare to have blond hair and dark eyes. Also (and yes, I am looking too deeply into this, but shush), both his parents had dark hair, so for him to have lighter coloured hair would suggest a lack of pigmentation in hair and eyes, which would also lead to poor eyesight. (I can confirm this because I have the same problem. Both my parents have dark brown hair and dark eyes but I am blond and blue eyed as the pigmentation in my hair and eyes didn't develop as quickly as normal - it's common for white people to be blond when born and then for their hair to darken, but with me this is happening much more slowly than it did for my parents. As a result my eyesight is so bad that I can't buy glasses frames thick enough to contain the lenses lmao.)

here are what some of Edward's contemporaries had to say about him (quotes taken from Kathryn Warner's excellent blog)

"tall and strong, a fine figure of a handsome man"

"fair of body and great of strength"

"of a well-formed and a handsome person"

"one of the strongest men of his realm"

(To be honest the fact that he was super hot seems to be his only redeeming feature in the eyes of the monks.)

Edward enjoyed 'unkingly' activities such as digging ditches, thatching roofs and doing blacksmith work, so we can imagine that he was really strong (the quotes back this up). His father, Edward I, was six foot two so Edward II would have been pretty tall too.

So, in conclusion, if you're writing/drawing Edward II give him awesome hair. Give him dirt under his fingernails. Give him muscles. For the love of God don't turn him into the Braveheart version.

(also, when I look up references to the muscular structure most of the drawings that come up look like they're on steroids. don't put Edward on steroids. The strongest men in the world don't have ridiculously defined muscles. They just look 'bulky' or 'barrel chested'. So yeah :).)

Knight never imagined she would be sneaking through The Palace- Antagonist's Palace. Her hair was tucked into the hood of a cloak, sword left at the Inn in favour of the two daggers tucked into her boots.

They were here strictly for business - there was no need for her to see Antagonist – in fact, King had stressed on the fact that she should steer clear "for her own safety" as he had been asking after here recently. She hadn't seen him throughout their week-long stay, and though she would never admit it to his face, she missed Antagonist.

So, the moment the party had retired to their rooms and King was safe in his borrowed chambers, she set off.

The guards ducked their heads in acknowledgement when they caught sight of her hand under the cloak. The ring glinted under the lamplight.

She made her way through the castle, avoiding the rooms she knew diplomats frequented late at night. She heard King when she rushed past the library, laughing boisterously with one of Antagonist's senators. He must have decided he was no longer exhausted.

The guards stopped her again, but acquiesced when she drew back the hood of her cloak.

She pushed in softly.

He was asleep.

She was hardly shocked - it was near midnight and he kept a strict sleep schedule. He was peaceful in his sleep, on his stomach holding a pillow close to his chest.

"That's my pillow," she muttered to herself, gliding a hand over his brow.

He stirred at her caress, the corner of his lips tipping up crookedly. "Knight."

"Antagonist."

"You haven't been to see me all week." His voice was thick with sleep. "I've missed you."

"You've been asking after me." She shucked her cloak. "King became wary and I've been busy dealing with security."

He groaned at the mention of King. It physically pained him to play host to That Fucker.

While Knight was undoing her hair, Antagonists hand shot out to grab her waist, yanking her into him.

The bedsheets rustled as he shifted her to face him.

"How much longer?" His eyes closed tiredly. "I can't bear the thought of you with him."

"I owe him four more months of service," Knight said softly. She cupped his neck. "Not much longer."

Antagonist twined their fingers together, rubbing the silver ring she wore.

The last thing she heard as she drifted off, head resting on his arm, brought a content smile to her face.

"I love you, wife."

Greetings everyone, my name is Kasey and I decided this is the place where I will share my AU I made for nearly 4 years I think and it’s called “Swords, Shields, and Strongholds” or “SSS”.

The Blood-Dripped Crown

(Medieval Reverse Robins/Background information)

Part one: The Kingdom of Shadow bird

Before there was the kingdom of Shadow of Birds there were two separate kingdoms Fallen Shadow ruled by Ras al Gul and Rising Bird Ruled by Thomas and Martha Wayne. For many years these two kingdoms had been at war but it came to an end with a treaty and agreement still unknown by most. Due to old law, Talia and Bruce were forced into an arranged marriage to bind the kingdoms to each other. While it was his duty to marry Talia, Bruce told her he would break off the engagement if that was what she wished. She declined and the two were married and thought it was not in the plan they fell in love.

With their marriage, the crowns of each kingdom were passed down and the two kingdoms merged into one with Bruce as the King and Talia as the Queen. They ruled together as Partners hoping to ensure unity among the new kingdom. However, relations were rocky as the two former kingdoms divided themselves. Ras's Former subjects were called Fallen Shadows and the others were Rising Birds. Fallen Shadows were seen as harsh and gloomy while Rising Birds were weak and foolishly optimistic.

Fallen Shadow had been an assassin Kingdom with each of its subjects trained in the art of killing since birth. When the two Kingdoms were joined Assassins trained a rift among the people and noticed from the eyes of the world. So Bruce put in place a Kight regimen consisting of people for both former kingdoms. Ras disapproved of how his daughter and son-in-law ruled his old Kingdom, demanding that they reintroduce assassin training to the whole kingdom. When they refused he announced that he would reestablish the kingdom of Fallen Shadow taking any who had wished to Join him. While any Fallen Shadows did accept his invention most stayed loyal to their Queen even if they disapproved of the King. Ras took the ones who would join him and moved on leaving Shadow Bird even more divided.

With the Kingdom barely held together all eyes were on Bruce and Talia. As Royals, there was a lot of pressure for them to conceive an heir, especially with relations among the subjects so rocky. Talia soon became pregnant and gave birth to a son named Damian. With the birth of the prince came the unity that Bruce and Talia had fought so hard for. It may have not been great but it was there. Over the years the bond would grow until they acted as one kingdom sadly this would all come to a halt.

Seven years after the birth of the prince Ras made his move attacking one of Shadow Birds alleys. The battle was brutal. most of the defending kingdom was slayed including the King and Queen. The few survivors were taken in as prisoners, one of them being a young prince that Ras planned to raise as an heir.

Bruce and Talia knew they had to put an end to Ras's rule or they would lose their own kingdom. So Bruce got his Knights ready for war but Talia knew they would be highly out manned so she went to her people and asked them to use their former training. Talia led the charge and after a blood-filled battle, Ras was captured. He was blinded and banshee from the kingdom and his subjects returned to Shadowbird along with his heir whom Bruce took in as his own. Those who had returned were looked upon with suspicion. Rumors spread among the kingdom and the unity of Shadow Bird was once again rocky.

So about 2 years ago, I posted an eah animation set to the song "So am I." After that, I got started with the sequel... but again, it's been 2 years and that sequel never got posted. It's been through a lot of changes, but I'm finally satisfied with how it looks, so it should be done within the next few months. Here's a clip from every version of the animation up to the present

The first version was animated frame by frame, and while this version was 50% done, it was taking forever to animate. I didn't like the art style, and rather than properly clean up the animation, I just filled in gaps in the sketches and colored those. I knew I was being lazy, so I scrapped this version and decided to try rigging instead.

The 2nd and 3rd versions were the result of me trying to imitate the EAH art style, though it's pretty obvious I didn't get far with these versions either. V2 looks awkward, art style and animation, and while V3 is slightly better, it's not very interesting. I was beginning to realize that animating in the EAH style was much more complicated than I realized, and even if every character had the same base (the one shown in the video,) it would take even longer to get all the details working. Plus, I still didn't really know how to animate a puppet, so V3's movements were oversimplified.

The current version is the culmination of a lot of things, the main things being that I've gotten better at handling puppets, and I've found a balance between using my art style and making it viable for animation. Turns out that animating in your own art style and not what you perceive to be "animation-friendly" is really freeing, who knew 🤷‍♀️
