i think one of my biggest concerns about viv's content (which has become heavier since seeing how she and raph have reacted to push-back against viv's mis-matched portrayals of SA overall but particularly both viv & raph's portrayals of SA in episode 4) was that she never actually had "good intentions" for what she's trying to say. or maybe she did at a point, but it got lost/blurred over time.

yes, it *is* a good message to attempt to give support to the "imperfect victim," the assholes who need a little empathy despite their bark and bite, bc they all still suffered horrible things that are unimaginable to some of us, and they deserve the love and healing they were denied just as much as the "perfect victim" does, but...

the risk that message can come with is emboldening assholes and "imperfect victims" who have no intentions of changing, who want to be and act horribly to others and/or themselves without consequence, who continue the cycles of abuse put upon them. tbf, this is generally unavoidable, but handling it poorly can amplify the numbers or confidence of said emboldened assholes.

the impression i always got from her work was "oh so i'm a monster? fine, then i'll act like one, deal with it" while ironically simultaneously being unable to handle being perceived as "a monster."

my concern from the start was that viv may not *be* someone who has genuinely been treated/hated unfairly (for her *entire* existence, she was def treated/hated unfairly for some of it) despite many attempts to change and "be better"--and she instead is someone who refuses to self-reflect outside of "people hate me" and wants to be allowed to be and act shitty w/o consequences "because trauma" w/o having to consider others and in an apparent effort to act fully self-interested. (which yes, all that can be a trauma response but it doesn't excuse you for how you behave/act towards others.)

it's not illegal to be selfish, but to live the kind of life where you continually act only in your own self-interest creates a very isolated and unstable foundation where you're continually burning bridges and generating misery for not only others but also yourself. we've seen this pattern continually with viv.

how i've seen viv act over time, and how she and raph have acted recently throughout the drama with episode 4, with viv seeming to continually adjust her defenses/like tweets to fit whatever argument she's trying to one-up... i'm not confident w/her intentions... and i've given her a *lot* of chances and empathy to attempt to understand where she's coming from, but i find my understandings for her becoming more and more contradicted by her own words & actions.

You know the fact this even exists brings up some concerning questions. Why does the Collector have a tree in Belos mind?

We don’t see any trees like this in his or Willows mind. Which suggests it’s unique to the Collector. Which brings up he question of how it got there

Does this deal with the Draining Spell?

Is it still there after Belos became muckman? Because that suggests the Collector should be aware Belos is still around which he doesn’t seem to be

And is this coming back in the finale somehow?

Markiplier and the Titanic Tourist Submarine

Okay, I am fully hopefull that the Titanic Tourist Sub gets found, but things aren’t looking too good. At this moment of posting I think they have less than 24 hours of air, assuming some things did or didn’t happen, and they have yet to be found much less rescued. In other news, Markiplier has a movie coming out that if it is anything like the game should be a horror pertaining to being in a deathly situation aboard a small submarine. Now, we know movies sometimes like to reference disasters and tragedies, usually with the benifit of at least a few years between the reference and the movie. Considering the release date of the movie and the current state of the tragedy I think Markiplier is about to reverse Pompeii reference himself.

Okay, I am planning to go back to academia for postgrad after maybe 5-6 years of leaving uni life?

How true is it when they said:

“Just be yourself when you write your personal statement!”

“the admission officer want to get to know you as a person when they are reading your application”

when writing personal statement for university application for a neurodivergent who’s planning to apply for inclusion/disability studies ?

(I’m AuDHD so I have no idea how literal I have to take these statements and whether I should take it at face value or if this is about performing acceptable amount of true self again)

I’ve read about the rank of this university and how great they are at providing support and alternative learning style, which is partly what interests me, but I still worry about being discriminated if I reveal about my disability as a part of my motivation to apply for study.

Please help!

I need opinion, suggestions, tips and support in any kindest and supportive ways you can offer now.

Some MH Live Action Thoughts

What pisses me off specifically about the clawdeen/deuce pairing in the live action movie (besides clawdeen canonically being a lesbian) is that we have SO SO SO many "new girl falls in love with the cute guy who swoops in to greet her" relationships and little to no shows where the "mean girl" has a happy and fulfilling relationship or is at least with a guy who actually likes her.

In the case of Cleo, at least for me as a kid, it was part of the idea that there was more to her character and a reason somewhere she had people who actually gave a shit about her before those better traits were actually introduced.

With that and what I've heard about them...not having clawdeen be into fashion anymore? Is that true? I hope things don't fall into the "mean girly girl bad" and "unique quirky girl good" dichotomy considering how much they've already fucked up other aspects of like the whole message of the show

I'm not totally against it the movie hasn't fully come out yet it's just the feelings that give me an immediate ick, I hope I'm wrong and that something good is done with the change

I've been thinking about this idea for a while. This based off of a old oc. She was a fusion between Elsa, Ursula, and Maleficent. Might show after I rework her.

This idea might be a little yandereish. Platonic.

One day a mysterious child shows up in Arendelle. They can be human or any race you think of but no matter the species this child has magical powers.

The powers can again be up to you. Ice, Fire, Time manipulation, up to you.

You get adopted by the royal family and Elsa especially gets closest to you. Seeing herself in you.

This idea takes place after Frozen 1 but before Frozen 2. I also have a idea for Frozen 2 storyline for this au.

So I finally finished the game

Just finished my first full playthrough and I wanna get my thoughts down.

I'm kind of reminded of how DoS 2 left me. I really enjoyed just PLAYING THROUGH IT but upon reaching the ending I was just kind of... let down. First of all there's the basic fact that the end-game content feels veeeeeeeeeeeery unpolished. Just from a visual standpoint, there's blurry textures and really wonky animations everywhere. The sound design is lacking, the 3D animations are lacking, the effects are lacking. It feels like they probably spent a tooooon of time on the first 95% of the game and then rushed out the last 5%.

I wasn't really satisfied with the ending I got. I realize they had to come up with an approximate FUCKTON of different scenarios, yet the endings just feel very... binary. Kind of boring. Minimalist. I didn't even hear from Shadowheart in the final cutscene so I have no idea what she's doing. I romanced Minthara and yet she had almost nothing to say. Astarion had one line and that was it. Lae'zel was the only person with any kind of 'send off' and even that was pretty short. Fucking MINSC said more than three of the companions I'd had for over half the game COMBINED.

It's VERY similar to DoS 2; this giant, giant build up to quickly skim over an ending and then just... stop. It's a bummer, and doesn't really leave me that motivated to do another playthrough. The ending battles just feel like clusterfucks, instead of epic, climactic showdowns, and the end to YOUR CHARACTER'S STORY can be so unsatisfying it's kind of maddening.

Obviously I could go back and try to do things better but... I just don't really care enough.

I'm sure I'll play it more in the future and I'll probably mod it just to make it a bit more satisfying and work out some of the more annoying features, but... meh. I sincerely hope Larian updates some stuff to make the climax more... well... CLIMACTIC. That scene at the end where you give a rousing speech to a HUGE CROWD of five people and then a stock applause sound effect is played?

Uck...

Anyway, obviously I still enjoyed the game and liked the characters, the ending just left a lot to be desired in... essentially all aspects. And that's kind of exactly what I expected.

It just still sucks to see.

Goosebumps Disney Plus thoughts

I am super hyped for Disney Plus Goosebumps! However, i have a concern for how they're going to portray Slappy, who is, (not surprisingly), my favorite villain/monster.

Moreso, if the plot is what it's going to be, (not sure if anyone has heard it after it leaked, so i am unsure if i should specify it), i dont know how Slappy can be a true villain, without him being a sympathetic one.

I dont want a sympathetic Slappy.

While I like the movie one, I am ready for a by the book one, evil, through and through, sly little miscreant, wanting to enslave the human race. Just a little silly, but willing to steal, and cause some serious havoc without worrying who gets hurt in the process.

Please, Disney! Don't make him possessed by a child, that's not the kind of villain that Slappy is supposed to be!
