Evolution

I have recently come to realize that I’m at a stage in life where I find myself attracted to a literary genre I never held any interest in: realism.

Or rather, realism with wondrous things sprinkled in.

Specially like that presented in Japanese literature.

What I’m really looking for I think, is connection. Being able to relate to the story to a deeper level than the fantasy stories I used to be so obsessed with (which no offense, but are usually not written to relate with anyone. YA Fantasy writing tends to be bleak when it comes to the relatable side of things).

I am touched by stories about people struggling through life’s bumps, pushing through as they find connections with others and hope in the little things; perhaps lessons they learned as children and forgot as they aged, or perhaps in magical wonders they encounter.

Slice of life stories are specially entertaining to me now. Broken as I am, there’s a part of me that lights up with stories I can empathize with. It stitches me up a bit inside. Helps hold me together.

There are so many books of this kind I wanna read. Stories that can warm me inside and hold my stitches together.

I never thought I’d become interested in realism (after, you know, literally living through it).

Guess a point comes where you just wanna know you’re not the only one in pain.

So how about I focus on a different British series during Pride Month for a sec?

Starting with this little diesel

Britt Allcroft made Rusty Non-binary for seasons 4&5 (which is why they just have the one picture), out of the majority of the cast being male characters.

Although imo, if you’re stuck with a mainly male cast, you should make some of them gay. I don’t have pictures for that because I feel silly enough giving gender flags to fictional locomotives. But hey, nothing’s stopping any of you from doing so if you desire!

Anyway, these next two are my headcanons

James being Trans, basically because that’s the impression I get from him (if I’m mistaken than don’t be afraid to educate me)

And the Flying Scotsman is Bigender, because why do we give the IRL engine female pronouns while the character in T&F/RWS is male? Especially considering his name (though to be fair, some people may give her male pronouns on that alone)

Queer things in my life

I go for Eddie’s look. But I cut my hair and now I miss it so much because it no longer looks like Eddie’s mane. I love dressing up in my Eddie getup, makes me feel more masc and comfortable and confident. I think he’s super cool and my favorite character so far in Stranger Things.

BUT ALSO. Like, I wanna kiss him so bad and hug him and I just had like 2 consecutive dreams with him as the centerpiece.

Like look at him. He plays guitar, so do I. He’s a nerd, so am I. I have something for guys with long messy hair.

We literally own the same clothes.
