Download is in my deviantart gallery, in the description of this picture!
I know it's late for swimsuit models, I was supposed to get this done during the summer, but alot of... bad things happened. I also ended up not having alot of money, so I didn't really get the chance to buy the parts I wanted to use until now. This is an oc x canon pack. I have really bad anxiety about posting this, but I'm gonna be brave and do it anyway! Sakura is my favorite oc, and Narancia is my favorite JoJo character. Both are major comforts to me, and are even more so when they're paired together. It took me ALOT of courage to upload these models for download. I do not have alot of self confidence and have had really bad experiences in the past when I do oc x canon.I made this as a minature oc x canon pack download to try and help give myself a little more self confidence! These two characters give me comfort so I thought I'd try to be brave and go for it. If you want one model and don't want the other, you can delete the other. While the thought of that DOES make me a little sad, I can also understand the reasoning.
I hope you enjoy the models, or at least one of them! I did my best! Kinda embarrassing that my first model of Narancia is swimwear- Please remember to follow the rules, remember that there is always a person behind the model you downloaded. Rules: Credit me. I'd prefer you credit me as both ShannaHeart and Strawberry-Metal, but just ShannaHeart is fine! No redistribution, I never get credit when people do this. No claiming as your own or selling. Edit is only allowed if it's an unseen one, like adding more expressions, physics, or fixing any issues I may of missed, etc Usually I'm ok with taking parts, but no taking parts from these models, because I paid for the majority of their accessories! No R18 Love content in general is fine No VRchat Ask me permission before porting to gmod Porting to blender is fine as long as it's kept to personal use, and you still credit me! NO p*d*philia or inc*st!!! The password is the name of this pairing, which is literally in the title of this deviation on deviantart, and in the tags here lol Individual parts credits: Sakura: Head: Joshu0a926__c Base plus body and face texture: CytrynaCAmmd Eye texture: Rondline Blood for one of her expressions: NiShiGara and jingleriot Extra expressions: MonoCereal Hair: Montecore Hair texture, flip flops and braid: TehRainbowLlama Nails: なつかさん Earrings: amiamy111 Bikini, choker, bracelets, ring: Shiro-NekoVocaloid Ponytail: HinataMew Witch eye texture: BrokenD-Melancholia Hair clip: CelestCSilvari Chibi blush expression: Shioku-990 Fangs: Animasa Narancia: Base: Idera with HEAVY editing done by my friend, TheBizarreKazeko Face, eye texture, eyebrow, and eyelash textures: MosterNighT-MMD Face textures, anime eye texture, toons, and spas: MijumaruNr1 Some of the other face textures: Joshu0a926__c Warlock eye texture: BrokenD-Melancholia Extra expressions: MonoCereal Swim trunks: Ranshka Flip flops: Tehrainbowllama Necklace: amiamy111 Bracelets and ring: Shiro-NekoVocaloid Headband: Shioku-990 Moon clip: cutiebxt and KISS Hair and animal ears: Jjinomu Hair texture: Nekasan Chibi blush expression: mmd-neko123 Fangs: TDA Stage: kaahgomedl and ILLUSION Poses: Fujiwara-no-Moko Effects: SVSSAO and Autoluminous4: sovoro SVDOF: Beamman Overrayshader: Elle

10 Lessons on Realistic Worldbuilding and Mapmaking I Learned Working With a Professional Cartographer and Geodesist
Hi, fellow writers and worldbuilders,
It’s been over a year since my post on realistic swordfighting, and I figured it’s time for another one. I’m guessing the topic is a little less “sexy”, but I’d find this useful as a writer, so here goes: 10 things I learned about realistic worldbuilding and mapmaking while writing my novel.
I’ve always been a sucker for pretty maps, so when I started on my novel, I hired an artist quite early to create a map for me. It was beautiful, but a few things always bothered me, even though I couldn’t put a finger on it. A year later, I met an old friend of mine, who currently does his Ph.D. in cartography and geodesy, the science of measuring the earth. When the conversation shifted to the novel, I showed him the map and asked for his opinion, and he (respectfully) pointed out that it has an awful lot of issues from a realism perspective.
First off, I’m aware that fiction is fiction, and it’s not always about realism; there are plenty of beautiful maps out there (and my old one was one of them) that are a bit fantastical and unrealistic, and that’s all right. Still, considering the lengths I went to ensure realism for other aspects of my worldbuilding, it felt weird to me to simply ignore these discrepancies. With a heavy heart, I scrapped the old map and started over, this time working in tandem with a professional artist, my cartographer friend, and a linguist. Six months later, I’m not only very happy with the new map, but I also learned a lot of things about geography and coherent worldbuilding, which made my universe a lot more realistic.
Tumblr media
1)  Realism Has an Effect: While there’s absolutely nothing wrong with creating an unrealistic world, realism does affect the plausibility of a world. Even if the vast majority of us probably know little about geography, our brains subconsciously notice discrepancies; we simply get this sense that something isn’t quite right, even if we don’t notice or can’t put our finger on it. In other words, if, for some miraculous reason, an evergreen forest borders on a desert in your novel, it will probably help immersion if you at least explain why this is, no matter how simple.
2)  Climate Zones: According to my friend, a cardinal sin in fantasy maps are nonsensical climate zones. A single continent contains hot deserts, forests, and glaciers, and you can get through it all in a single day. This is particularly noticeable in video games, where this is often done to offer visual variety (Enderal, the game I wrote, is very guilty of this). If you aim for realism, run your worldbuilding by someone with a basic grasp of geography and geology, or at least try to match it to real-life examples.
3)  Avoid Island Continent Worlds: Another issue that is quite common in fictional worlds is what I would call the “island continents”: a world that is made up of island-like continents surrounded by vast bodies of water. As lovely and romantic as the idea of those distant and secluded worlds may be, it’s deeply unrealistic. Unless your world was shaped by geological forces that differ substantially from Earth’s, it was probably at one point a single landmass that split up into fragmented landmasses separated by waters. Take a look at a proper map of our world: the vast majority of continents could theoretically be reached by foot and relatively manageable sea passages. If it weren’t so, countries such as Australia could have never been colonized – you can’t cross an entire ocean on a raft.
4)  Logical City Placement: My novel is set in a Polynesian-inspired tropical archipelago; in the early drafts of the book and on my first map, Uunili, the nation’s capital, stretched along the entire western coast of the main island. This is absurd. Not only because this city would have been laughably big, but also because building a settlement along an unprotected coastline is the dumbest thing you could do considering it directly exposes it to storms, floods, and, in my case, monsoons. Unless there’s a logical reason to do otherwise, always place your coastal settlements in bays or fjords.
Naturally, this extends to city placement in general. If you want realism and coherence, don’t place a city in the middle of a godforsaken wasteland or a swamp just because it’s cool. There needs to be a reason. For example, the wasteland city could have started out as a mining town around a vast mineral deposit, and the swamp town might have a trading post along a vital trade route connecting two nations.
 5)  Realistic Settlement Sizes: As I’ve mentioned before, my capital Uunili originally extended across the entire western coast. Considering Uunili is roughly two thirds the size of Hawaii  the old visuals would have made it twice the size of Mexico City. An easy way to avoid this is to draw the map using a scale and stick to it religiously. For my map, we decided to represent cities and townships with symbols alone.
 6)  Realistic Megacities: Uunili has a population of about 450,000 people. For a city in a Middle Ages-inspired era, this is humongous. While this isn’t an issue, per se (at its height, ancient Alexandria had a population of about 300,000), a city of that size creates its own set of challenges: you’ll need a complex sewage system (to minimize disease spreading like wildfire) and strong agriculture in the surrounding areas to keep the population fed. Also, only a small part of such a megacity would be enclosed within fantasy’s ever-so-present colossal city walls; the majority of citizens would probably concentrate in an enormous urban sprawl in the surrounding areas. To give you a pointer, with a population of about 50,000, Cologne was Germany’s biggest metropolis for most of the Middle Ages. I’ll say it again: it’s fine to disregard realism for coolness in this case, but at least taking these things into consideration will not only give your world more texture but might even provide you with some interesting plot points.
 7)  World Origin: This point can be summed up in a single question: why is your world the way it is? If your novel is set in an archipelago like mine is, are the islands of volcanic origin? Did they use to be a single landmass that got flooded with the years? Do the inhabitants of your country know about this? Were there any natural disasters to speak of? Yes, not all of this may be relevant to the story, and the story should take priority over lore, but just like with my previous point, it will make your world more immersive.
 8)  Maps: Think Purpose! Every map in history had a purpose. Before you start on your map, think about what yours might have been. Was it a map people actually used for navigation? If so, clarity should be paramount. This means little to no distracting ornamentation, a legible font, and a strict focus on relevant information. For example, a map used chiefly for military purposes would naturally highlight different information than a trade map. For my novel, we ultimately decided on a “show-off map” drawn for the Blue Island Coalition, a powerful political entity in the archipelago (depending on your world’s technology level, maps were actually scarce and valuable). Also, think about which technique your in-universe cartographer used to draw your in-universe map. Has copperplate engraving already been invented in your fictional universe? If not, your map shouldn’t use that aesthetic.
9)  Maps: Less Is More. If a spot or an area on a map contains no relevant information, it can (and should) stay blank so that the reader’s attention naturally shifts to the critical information. Think of it this way: if your nav system tells you to follow a highway for 500 miles, that’s the information you’ll get, and not “in 100 meters, you’ll drive past a little petrol station on the left, and, oh, did I tell you about that accident that took place here ten years ago?” Traditional maps follow the same principle: if there’s a road leading a two day’s march through a desolate desert, a black line over a blank white ground is entirely sufficient to convey that information.
10) Settlement and Landmark Names: This point will be a bit of a tangent, but it’s still relevant. I worked with a linguist to create a fully functional language for my novel, and one of the things he criticized about my early drafts were the names of my cities. It’s embarrassing when I think about it now, but I really didn’t pay that much attention to how I named my cities; I wanted it to sound good, and that was it. Again: if realism is your goal, that’s a big mistake. Like Point 5, we went back to the drawing board and dove into the archipelago’s history and established naming conventions. In my novel, for example, the islands were inhabited by indigenes called the Makehu before the colonization four hundred years before the events of the story; as it’s usually the case, all settlements and islands had purely descriptive names back then. For example, the main island was called Uni e Li, which translates as “Mighty Hill,” a reference to the vast mountain ranges in the south and north; townships followed the same example (e.g., Tamakaha meaning “Coarse Sands”). When the colonizers arrived, they adopted the Makehu names and adapted them into their own language, changing the accented, long vowels to double vowels: Uni e Li became “Uunili,” Lehō e Āhe became “Lehowai.” Makehu townships kept their names; colonial cities got “English” monikers named after their geographical location, economic significance, or some other original story. Examples of this are Southport, a—you guessed it—port on the southernmost tip of Uunili, or Cale’s Hope, a settlement named after a businessman’s mining venture. It’s all details, and chances are that most readers won’t even pay attention, but I personally found that this added a lot of plausibility and immersion.
I could cover a lot more, but this post is already way too long, so I’ll leave it at that—if there’s enough interest, I’d be happy to make a part two. If not, well, maybe at least a couple of you got something useful out of this. If you’re looking for inspiration/references to show to your illustrator/cartographer, the David Rumsey archive is a treasure trove. Finally, for anyone who doesn’t know and might be interested, my novel is called Dreams of the Dying, and is a blends fantasy, mystery, and psychological horror set in the universe of Enderal, an indie RPG for which I wrote the story. It’s set in a Polynesian-inspired medieval world and has been described as Inception in a fantasy setting by reviewers.
Credit for the map belongs to Dominik Derow, who did the ornamentation, and my friend Fabian Müller, who created the map in QGIS and answered all my questions with divine patience. The linguist’s name is David Müller (no, they’re not related, and, yes, we Germans all have the same last names.)

Birds
Set during the Coven's days. Griffin finds out about Valtor's demon form and things may be darker than they seem. Will she go away? Warnings: angst, dark stuff, some contents may be triggering.
She couldn't sleep.
He had told her he would be away all night, when dark magic was stronger and could be practiced at the highest levels. It was one of the many training sessions with his mothers, her presence wasn't allowed this time, the meeting was strictly reserved to the wizard and the three witches. At first they didn't take place frequently, but since a few months, now that the Company of Light was proving to be more of a threat, she had found herself spending more nights alone than usual, holed up in the mansion's library, waiting for his return. He came back extremely tired, without even the strenght to speak, his only desire was to lose himself in the night, hugging her like a safe port.
That night, too much time had gone by. It was three in the morning and he still wasn't by her side. Anxiety was devouring her, tossing and turning in bed, then she would get up and walk back and forth the room, trying to kill time. She would grab a book just to throw it away a minute later. Half a cigarette smoked, the rest was garbage, now she would light up a new one. She couldn't find peace, she knew the three witches and every scar on Valtor's body as well. They always wanted more and more and were never satisfied, he was up for anything just to gain a bit of their approval. And this was lethal.
She left the room they shared and, as her feet were pounding on the floor faster and faster, looked for the room where training usually took place. And there he was.
Gasping, hands shaking and her gaze caught by fear.
She opened the door. The pungent smell of iron flooded her nostrils. She decided to follow its scent. She felt her airway closing and blurring sight, icy needles paralyzed her heart. Her vocal cords refused to vibrate the unspeakable horror in front of her eyes. A connection had been cut off, her pulsating golden irises were screaming and the sound was dying inside of them.
She saw him tossed into the darkest corner of the room, like a used and forgotten toy.
Bowed head, his face hidden by his blond hair in an act of shameless shame. He was shaking, had goosebumps, and she could see his ribs move through the swollen white skin as he breathed. He had never looked so thin and frail, his figure so thin compared to the red scales that swallowed him bite after bite. They started sporadic from his chest and then slowly thicken on his arms and hands deformed into long claws. They painted the portrait of a beast and found maximum expression in the two huge red wings wrapped in a shield, protecting him from the cold of the outside world in an embrace. It looked like the monster was trying to save its own prey. It emphasized the misery, the greatness and strength of the red hunter and the labored breathing of its pale victim. Naked and with his back torn.
Blood overflowed copiously, snaked elegantly dragging its red vital flow downstream, it marked the grooves of his ribs and suddenly fell silent, insinuating itself between the inanimate tiles of the mosaic on the floor. His milky skin was imprisoned in a network of faults of flesh torn apart by the fiercest of beasts. It was scarred, its edges matched perfectly with the width of the claws of his hands, she could feel their power sink into his taut muscle fibers, stretch them to the ends like springs, and tear them away as waste material, a further obstacle to the main organ that he was burning to find. So he dug again, and again, in an unbridled greed for a proof of his humanity. The pain wasn't enough, he wouldn't stop until his claws gripped his beating heart. He had to tear the flesh, the dress of his existence that now felt too tight with the darkness that threatened to overflow and pick him up again in its coils.
"Go away..." he murmured.
Valtor had perceived her presence ever since she had stepped in, fear washing through her veins. She was the last person in the universe who could see him reduced to that. He trusted her, she had been the first person to dig under his surface of powerful narcissist wizard, making him discover a different person. Before her were all the things that weren't and would never be. He was never going to sleep with anyone, he did with her, he had never had a real friend, his mothers had taught him to calculate everything based on utility and how anyone was just a pawn on a chessboard. He had aquaintances, many flirts with countless women and men, and he was never the one in love. And neither were they. For each of his lovers he already knew, the moment when he left their bed, that all that would remain was one more meaningless hot night, an exercise of the word love. They all carried out in the same way, with an absence of words, and he was conscious of being but an object of lust due to his body and his power. And then, she came into his life, the only woman immune to his fiery charme and who even seemed to hate him. He had never spent an entire night on a sofa eating junk food and talking of the most diverse topics, he did with her. He had never received a hug, she hugged him, after a mission with a positive resolution. He never cared for the feelings of others, now he couldn't stand sadness to veil her eyes. She had occupied his heart and not only he loved her madly, she was also his best and only friend. He trusted her, but he didn't trust himself and the monstruosity living inside of him.
"Valtor..."
She couldn't believe it was him. She spelled his name with dragging slowness, almost reluctant to attribute the name of the man she loved to that foul creature. It was him, it had taken two words, a plead to walk out the door and go away.
"Griffin, please, go away, now."
"You're hurt" she said when the only thing her spinning mind could still focus on were his wounds.
"Go away!"
"I wanna help you."
A loud roar cut through the air, and she found herself on the ground, overcome by the power of his claws. It burned and shone bright red on her thigh between the silk of her nightgown, it wasn't too deep, a shallow cut. He had hurt her on purpose for the first time.
Another scream and another sob. Valtor was looking at his hands with wide eyes. He was forced to protect her in the only way his other self knew: violence.
"Are you happy now I've hurt you? Help me? Who do you want to help, a beast? I'm a freak. Look at me Griffin, look!" he cried amid sobs that threatened to suffocate him, too large and noisy that struck his lungs like prisoners in a desperate flight to freedom. A distorted chant broke his larynx, his swan song.
Lying on the floor with an itching cut and blurred thinking, she saw right through Valtor.
She had already heard of those feathered winged creatures earthlings believed in. She realized he was an angel. A fallen one.
He wasn't born for all of this. He was a creature of pure light bound to an eternal exile in darkness, and although the flame that burned within him tended to return to its original light source, it was held back by the iron fist of darkness. She was a creature of the dark too, a witch, but she had decided to be one, he was tainted and that made him the greatest shadow of all. The monster that enveloped him, moving the threads of his very existence, fed every day on the fiery light of his soul, now reduced to a mere flame. His monstrousness came from this destructive coexistence between light and dark, in which only one of the two would have definitively won. The flame burned, it couldn't keep silent and was responsible for his injured back. Darkness was close to him, so he had scratched it off, like a stain on a piece of precious silverware, he wanted to perform a desperate act of purification through his blood to finally wash himself away from the darkness and to get back to the pure light being he had always been meant to be. At least once.
It was written in his eyes which were shyly looking at her through his hair's wheat strands, although he tried to hide them under layers of ice and indifference. His pupils were imprisoned in a web of red capillaries, but they still managed to keep their last drop of pure humanity. It wasn't the same look he gave her every night as he adored her body, neither that of the sarcastic and ironic wizard, it was the one of every time his mothers would have criticized him, of when he tried in every way possibile to impress her, just to snatch her a compliment or a smile. In those moments he tore his heart out of his chest and fed it to his tormentor, craving for trivial affections.
She got up from the floor confident and proud, knowing what to do.
"Go away!" he yelled.
Griffin approached him ignoring all his moans and wrapped his face in her warm hands and traced every feature with her fingers. She felt the difference of texture between his skin and the red scales staining it. She stroked his nose, forehead and lips. She raised the corners of his lips, uncovering white fangs. She smiled and kissed him. Just a smack.
He was blown away, stuck in an idyll that tasted of her. Adrenaline was rushing, he had made it.
She grabbed his hand and looked him straight in the eye, the gold of her irises had never been so metallic. Maybe tired of lies, the purple-haired witch was so determined and a slave to curiosity that she delved into the darkest of truths, even one that would harm her. It wasn't over, she knew it. He was trying to play it cool, but with his eyes in a runaway dance and his smile crooked to the left, he had the classic facial expression of a child who had succeeded in getting away with something.
"Is that all? Is there anything else I should know?" she asked firmly.
That question was a cold shower. He shook his head. He was lying, there was so much more she should have known, the whole side of himself he never had control over. What she was seeing now was just a glimpse of the monster he saw every morning in the mirror, when all humanity crumbled to pieces and his eyes lost their pupils. But he still didn't want that kiss between them to be the last. She would have loved him until there was but a drop of man in him, but after that?
"You're lying Valtor. Show me, don't hold it back"
"Please, I can't!"
She would have run away. He was trying to become human again and she was asking him to show her the monster.
"Just do it!" she ordered, clenched fists and fixed pupils.
"Why are you doing this Griffin?"
She didn't answer him. She was emanating ice from all over her body, posture was stiff, back straight and lips tightened. She wouldn't give up until she got what she wanted.
He started changing, his body turning into the twisted fantasy of three long gone witches, and soon all human features were erased from his face. Stripped of his blond hair, abandoned to the ugliness of his inner skeleton. Now he was way bigger than her, the monster's palm almost the size of her entire face. All his senses were on the alert, looking for the easiest way to kill, the purpose for which it had been built. What she was in front of was a machine ready to kill, plus her neck was so thin.
She didn't even flinch. She did exactly what she had done beforehand. She watched the monster's facial expressions changing, how his blue stoney eyes were boring into her body, finding the most effective way to kill her. And then as if she had read his mind, placed that exact same palm she had held before around her fragile neck, playing the beast's game.
"It would be so easy, wouldn't it?
Damn, it would. The demon could feel her neck cracking under its strength and the air leaving her lungs in her last attempt to breathe.
"Squeeze, what are you waiting for?" she said giggling, but an invisible force was holding the creature back, incapable of applying any pressure. It screamed with rage, not realizing what was going on and why the smile on her face was getting progressively bigger and brighter. She enjoyed the fear flushing down her veins, it was too much to handle and that was making her steady. With her mind blank, she leaned over and with its hand still over her neck, kissed the creature on its mouth.
Leathery red scales began to retreat like clouds after a storm, finally letting his white skin breathe. The demon, his wings were gone.
Valtor broke down in her arms. He was too tired to express the growing happiness inside. He couldn't believe it, something like this had never happened before, getting rid of the other Valtor so quickly was an intangible dream. Everytime his mothers made him assume that form, he would spend hours of excruciating pain, waiting for the beast's claws to disappear. He holed up in the darkness, allowing himself to be consumed bite by bite, seeking in his mind an end to his labyrinth of torment. She had been the first one to get him out of there, a gleam of light at the end of the tunnel. He hoped it could've lasted forever.
He plunged into her eyes like a lost puppy, letting her capture his soul in her thick lashes.
"Don't I scare you? How can you kiss that beast? You must kill the monster Griffin, I'm begging you! Free me, save me, I can't bear it anymore! "
The more he tried to chase it away, the more he felt it crawl through his veins like a poisonous liquid. It was choking him from the inside, he could feel it making its way through his mind, it was making fun of his neurons in a black pool. He felt his head throbbing, unable to contain all that anger and hatred. He screamed in pain in a soundless space, one day he would tear his skull to pieces
"Where are you ?!" he said screaming at the top of his lungs. He couldn't see straight anymore, his whole body shaking with anxiety, blood rushing through his veins and his heart loudly pounding in his chest.
"Hush, I'm right here. I'm holding you, see?"
"D-don't leave ..." he begged her and rested his head on her chest.
"I'm not going anywhere. I'm with you, look at me." She cupped his chin in her hand, so he could meet her gaze again.
"Come on, we must get to our room, your wounds are bleeding."
"Your thigh..." he glanced at her leg with his face twisted in horror. Guilt building up.
"It's just a scratch. A pinch of magic and it will go away. It doesn't even burn anymore!" Griffin tried to reassure him.
She concentrated and teleported them to their room in a quick snap of fingers.
"Can you stand up?" she asked him.
"I- I ..."
"Don't worry, I'll hold you. You can do it."
She put an arm around his shoulder and tried to hold him by the waist, taller and heavier than her, backing him was hard: she had to.
Valtor stood up. Pangs of pain. He was weak, his knees buckling, joints croaking, it was as if his bones were breaking from the inside out on by one. He groaned in protest.
"I know, hold on, it's just one more step."
He freed himself of her grip and met the soft mattress of the bed they shared.
Griffin helped him sit up, covered his lower body with blankets, then she placed her hands on his back, focused and chanted a spell. Wet: blood between her fingers. The magic tickled the torn cells giving them a smoother edge.
"I'll be right back." she said. Then she rushed to the bathroom and, in the wooden cabinet, she found a cotton cloth, some ointments, flasks and some bandages. His wounds were too extensive and deep, she had managed to stop the bleeding and somehow reduce their size, now she had to worry about disinfecting.
"This will hurt just a bit."
"Get your hands off of me, now!"
He spun around, his voice high and firm, swollen veins and a sunken neck. It was a defensive act, it seemed to her the desperate move of an hunted animal fleeing its tormentors, veins darting with fear and aggressive bearing, pretending to be the one who holds power. But she wasn't his mothers, she couldn't get upset, he wasn't lucid and this complete reversal of attitude was proof of that. He no longer held the reins of his thoughts, he was finally letting them gallop on their own, fragments of past and present intertwined together. He proceeded by associations of ideas in an increasingly blurred time boundary: the disinfectant burned like Tharma's lightnings on his legs.
"Calm down. I'm not here to hurt you." she said. She had all her senses alert, he approached her by burying his nose in the hollow of her neck, he smelled her skin, traces in the air, caught violet and amber.
"It's me. Look, it's just disinfectant." she reassured him by pointing to the bottle on the bedside table.
Valtor retrated, recognizing it was the woman he loved and not one of his mothers in front of him. His heartbeat became slow, shoulders down, now he almost seemed like a lifeless doll in front of her. He let her keep on her work without any complaints. She finished dressing, then she bandaged his wounds in deafening silence, she could only hear his breathing.
"Stay there." she whispered softly heading towards the little wooden cupboard in the room.
It had been her idea, she felt like a stranger in that house and the thought of going down four floors each time to get to the kitchen, risking meeting her witches, made her shiver. Of course, she was much freer than any member of the Coven, somehow the Ancestors respected her, listened to her plans and strategies carefully, never a word of mockery, all she had received in years of service was advice, few compliments and an expression she could not discern. They were alert, analyzing her, looking for flaws and weaknesses, Liliss stammered something out under her breath, the others two nodded. She felt watched, stalked, obsessed with the thought that sooner or later they would've chained her too in their perverse game. For this reason she avoided all actions, tried to keep relationships with the three as detached as possible, remaining a puzzle in front of the witch of illusions was her goal.
She opened the cupboard and placed the material on the table. She put some water in the electric kettle, opened the inlaid wooden casket and began to choose the most suitable herbs, lightly caressed each one, letting the fragrances dance in her lungs.
It reminded her of her dad, as she watched him as a child as he made her a cup of tea whenever she was down in the dumps. He caressed the herbs in his study with delicacy, immersing himself in the pungent smells, then he would call her beside him in that olfactory research, telling her the benefits of each plant and how to make the most of them, and it was the sharp rosemary for healing, mint for stress, balsamic anise. In that little corner of nature, with the well-known brilliant notes of the cedar peel and the skilled hands of her father who mashed the leaves, her mind relaxed.
She waited for the herbs to finish their brewing time, then she poured the tea into a white porcelain cup adding a teaspoon of honey.
"I made you some tea. It'll help you feel better. Open your mouth, please."
She softly blew on the cup, cooling it off just a bit, and brought it to his mouth. Valtor followed her command, the smell was heady, notes of lavender, hawthorn and red tea sang as the hot liquid ran down his throat.
When he had finished to drink, she put the empty cup away and wiped his lips with her thumb. She kissed him on the forehead and let him lay down, tucking the sheets.
"Griffin ..." Valtor suddenly mumbled.
"Tell me."
"I- I ..."
"It's okay, you can tell me whatever you want."
"Why are you not angry? I- I ... hid you a part of me."
She had no right to be angry. She couldn't be when those pure eyes were fixed on hers in search of certainties. He was looking for answers and confirmation in her words, when she at first still could not realize what she had just seen. Such nonsense could not be described and questioning was useless. What could be rational about the cuts he carried behind his back or the red scales that covered him? Nothing.
What was rational about the man usually full of himself who was now trembling with fear in front of her?
"Why should I-"
"You must be."
Rather, he wanted her to be. He wanted her to scream, spit every insult, every slimy truth, so that he could sink into the depths of his self-contempt. Yet, she was calm and taking care of him. He didn't deserve it and couldn't stand her stare full of love that should've been directed towards someone way better than him. He was a hero for trying to save her from the horror that bore his name and a coward for wanting her still by his side. She hadn't run away from fear and it pulled her even closer to his heart. It was killing him.
"I know, I should've told you." he continued. "My mothers created it, something I have no control over. They wanted to try a new spell today and things spiraled out of control and- "
"And you hurt your back." she said.
And it hadn't been even the first time.
He was 7 years old, missing incisors and messy blonde curls, when he used to curl up in a corner and gaze out at the sky and the garden below from the large living room windows. He envied the swallows, they were weak, tiny fragile bones destined for a meal to a larger predator, ephemeral existences with a noose around their necks given by the true and only mother nature, yet they sang, they whirled in the sky unaware of any danger in an eternal spring. It was the same with flowers, they would be waiting a whole year to show off their magnetic colors and then bound to perish in a sweet smell that penetrated his nostrils. They all died in a quick smile, almost a game of darts, they threw themselves at maximum power towards the target of no return, as if they didn't care about the ending, it was just a necessary condition for their fleeting beauty. They slowly went towards death not feeling its weight for their entire existence, nothing more than a momentum. Blink of an eye, his irises were now laying on the various paintings hanging around the room: Liliss had an obsession for art and each painting had to represent a specif mood of hers. There were battle scenes, clanging of swords, diaphanous women with bare breasts standing face to face with a young men gambling in the dim black of oil painting. Stormy seas, forests and then aimless flowers and seagulls. Why were they still? What had stolen their right to chase each other across the sky? Someone had decided to enchant them in a precise instant, in a fixed scene against their will, while their fellows whirled free. He felt sympathy for the water lilies forced not to close and for the always red apple stuck in the basket, perhaps because he himself was a still life, the flying, the wanting, the perishing were out of his will, the one of a lacquered image. It was crystal clear in the definition itself, still life, how could a being stained by nothing have vital momentum since its very conception wanted it still? He was still life. In a frame, sick with rot and alive in the stroke of the eternal puppet position imposed by his mothers. Rot bit into his bones, poisoned his nerves and threw them into a muddy puddle where the reflection did not match his will.
His child self decided he would free every little bird from the canvas and destroy all those paintings, he hated still lives, so he bit his lip as hard as he could until the taste of iron flooded his mouth. He moved on to something else, now the game was scratching his skin to color it pink, holding his breath with the utmost force. He learned to control his flames, wanted to test its power and chose his arms as a target. He was a teenager and as he shortened his hair with scissors, he thought what it must be like to stand in their place and be cut off. And he felt it on his skin. It wasn't like anyone would've noticed, the wounds merged with those inflicted by the Ancestors, leaving cords of raised skin. He was their toy, therefore he demanded to be broken and he would help them by making their job easier. Wasn't it what a good son must do?
"At least my blood is red, isn't it?" he said as he interrupted his flow of thoughts. Lips twisted into a sinister smile and wide eyes.
"Of course it is red, but what do you mean?" she replied bewildered.
"It's good news. I'm a beast, it could've been black or blue as well, but it is red just like yours."
His calm tone spelling poisonous words hit her like a shard leaving her heart shattered.
"You're no beast." she said.
"And what would I be if not a creature? These feelings, this warmth towards you, how do I know they're mine? How do I know they're not controlling me and you're just an illusion of Liliss? Are you real Griffin? Can you answer? "
His pupils dilated, he spoke to her in a swirling crescendo, his voice rose, it cracked, its rhythm accelerated hysterically, breathing short and broken, his fingertips digging deep into her arms' skin.
"You can't love me! You just saw it!" he spat out.
She stared in horror at the atrocity of those words. Reality was mangling her eardrums as a cat scratching on a chalkboard.
"Griffin, these eyes, this hair, are just a wrapper, a beautiful case for the most hideous of gifts. If I hadn't looked like this, would you have even looked at me? Would you have ever spoken to me or would you have run away?" he asked. He asked her what she would've done, when he was the one who wanted to escape the mirror every morning. He saw the monster chuckling there behind him, next to his immaculate reflection, laughing, enjoying the blond's stupidity for wanting to conceal his true essence, as if a line of defined eyeliner and eyebrows would've done the trick.
"You're still making questions." she whispered in wonder.
"I must know!" he screamed. "I need to know if you're willing to love a monster, because ... that's what I am."
Griffin cupped his cheeks, her hands so gentle and soothing, and she smiled, the most beautiful he had ever witnessed, a glimpse of light in the pit of darkness his life was.
"You're still questioning, Valtor. You're the answer. You want me to tell you that you are good, that you are a man, to confirm something that runs in your blood, and you still do not know what it is. The answer is your own self, in your doubts. You are worried, you are taking care of something and in this action there is humanity. I cannot give you the answers you are looking for, but I can say that I feel them here. "
She placed her hand on his heart.
"When the spark in you has gone out and your vocal cords no longer vibrate, with no doubt, you'll be a monster. Without even realizing it, you'll spread terror and death, emotions will be unknown to you. But you have those and they're beautiful. You're human, Valtor, this is why you hate the beast, hence you fight. But this back means giving up, these tears on your face, well, they're a victory. I hate the monster, as much as you do, but it's not the one with red scales and big wings. Your own monster is living inside your mind, it feeds off your insecurities and how I'd like to kill it off if I only could! Free you and look at the man, I can say it outloud I- I... L-lo-ve."
Her voice cracked, the word love hard as tears tried to find their way. She held them back and took his hand between hers, in what looked so much like a promise.
"Valtor, I'll never love the beast. I love you."
"What if I were to become one? Would you give up on me? Would you ever leave me in the dark, alone? You'll never leave, will you? Will you always be by my side? Don't lie, please."
The witch hugged him eagerly as her heart broke under the weight of the demons in his mind. The adult with the oversized ego had collapsed into a child to be protected.
She lay down beside him and slowly started stroking his hair, lulling him to sleep. Another sob.
"She left me Griffin, she left me alone in the darkness with that monster. I'm scared."
"Who left you?" she asked softly.
"Believe me, I was good, I had never done anything wrong. I was small, useless, and it was too strong, I couldn't beat it. I was afraid of the dark, and she wasn't there to protect me. So dark ..." he spoke feebly, he turned his head.
Eye frames the void, remembers a room with a forthcoming beast, roaring flames, pain. The vague phrasing, frightened of giving voice to his nightmares, chased his weaknesses with choked breath, tried to catch them one by one, but they were dripping off his lips.
"Who are you talking about?" Griffin asked shaking his hand, giving him all the courage to speak up his mothers never tried to give him.
"Mom." Valtor stammered, gasping. Without even the pronoun my, he was almost referring to entities out of time and space whose name trembled leaving his mouth. She knew he didn't have a mother, the blond man in her arms was a creation of the Ancestors, yet he was longing for a family, bonds made of genes and flesh.
"Mom left me and the darkness came for me. It was so cold, I couldn't move." Darts of frozen darkness, enveloped in himself like a shivering maggot. The creator speaks, the son obeys. The creator breaks his will, sets the rules, commands. Violence, punishment, obedience, blood and broken bones. The cold becomes stronger, snow cuts his face, the son gets tired, he begins to ask questions, he strives to know the purpose of everything. "Your purpose is us Valtor, without us you are nothing" Belladonna ruled.
No words, another cry that desperately asked to be given voice. He was hungry for love.
"I don't want to be a creation. I can't be their son, Griffin. I feel it, I sense it, even they are not that powerful to create life out of nothing. It's burning inside of me, I don't belong to this planet, Whisperia's not my home, but somehow I ended up here with them, the mighty son of the Three Witches. Maybe I wasn't a good child, was I? I wonder if she remembers me. I don't remember her, one moment she was there to hold me, the next she was gone. I can still imagine her touch and scent on my skin, I bet she smelled of roses, because I love roses, don't I? I ask myself where is she now, what is she doing and if she is proud me or if she ever loved me. But she's not here. Belladonna, Liliss, Tharma never left me, though. I know, they're definitely not the mothers of the year, but they never left me. I'm a weapon, I told you, the most powerful of them all, they can't lose me. They hate the man I am, but they appreciate the beast and therefore I'm sure they would never leave me.That's why deep down I think they may care about me, I got what they need. I love them."
He smiled as he tossed his head back among the silk cushions, knowing how much a fool he was making of himself. She was still there, strong and still as always.Trembling lips, every cell of her body was fibrillating, they wanted to detach from it and rush on him like thousands of shooting stars, build him a shelter, save him from his mothers and love him, giving him a bit of that care he had always been denied. She knew her love wasn't enough.
Meanwhile Valtor wondered how much easier it would've been to turn off the light and let himself be swallowed up in an endless dream. Darkness would become his new home, and without even the small glow of its flames, it wouldn't be dark anymore, just nothing. No sound, no fight. Maybe she could've been the one able of dragging him out the pit he had digged himself. He raised his head and tried to meet her gaze for the last time, his lids starting to feel heavy.
"Griffin I don't know how much longer I will be able to keep the monster away. That's why I need to know that no matter what you'll stay by my side. Will you? "
"I.."
Interrupted sentence.
He had already fallen asleep without even waiting for the answer to how much he wanted it to be positive. It was easier to unstich himself from reality and follow the threads towards the dreamlike enchantment, in which the canvas tapestry with their smiling faces imprinted would never unravel.
She sighed. It was her turn to cry now.
She didn't know. That was the answer that was so difficult for her and it was breaking her heart. All the words of courage and comfort that had come easily from her before were now dead in her throat, none of them were for her. She had seen his blood slipping right through her skin, she had touched what was the most intimate about him that somehow managed to appear so right as it sneaked into her bony hands. The red of his blood fingerprinted his pain, left her the keeper of what was dearest to him. As the sea after an undertow regurgitates its treasures on the beach, the darkness in him had left away the most precious of his secrets: she had felt his humanity, now it was up to her to decide whether to wash it away or dry it and no soap would have ever canceled it. She could not wash her hands, she looked at them in the twilight of the night, turned them again and again, searched for escape routes between the lines of her palms, but the more she squinted her eyes in search of a pattern, the further she was pushed away. He was now in her hands.
She threw herself into the silk of the bed and looked at him: eyes closed and his lashes tickled his cheeks slightly. How could a monster be so human? And she, how could she be so hypocritical, unable to give an answer and yet she was hugging him? And fuck, how much the cut on her leg hurt.
Perhaps their relationship was a ship on fire on the high seas. Water and fire, a beautiful tragedy to be consummated in sync until one annihilates the other. Water never dies, it changes shape. The heat of the fire would've forced it into crystalline darts that would hurt the sky like swallows at dawn.
She was a bird. A real one.
Birds fly away.

Power Couple | JC Sanlaurento x Saoirse
Tumblr media
⚡︎ POWER COUPLE ⚡︎
1.7k words. JC Sanlaurento and Saoirse make a comeback for the prompt ‘who to see’ from @midsummer-masquerade.
All Saoirse, Theo, Meredith and the rest of her crew belong to @apprenticealec. Just like ‘Wouldn’t You Love to Love Her’, this is also set in the Janiverse.
You can find Sanlaurento’s outfit here, and the rest of City of Delights here.
Julianus examined the invitation —the luxurious paper and printing work— and hummed.
“So, what you’re telling me is that Vesuvians host secret sex parties?” They asked Saoirse, who was sitting on their bed, watching Julianus sway in their place from side to side.
“That’s a way of looking at it.”
JC snorted. “It tracks for me. What doesn’t is that Meredith knows the former Count.”
They left the invite Saoirse had given them next to Saoirse’s own as they went to sit on the quartermaster’s lap. Saoirse began telling them what they knew about Meredith’s and Lucio’s friendship, as the two of them sat unnecessarily close to each other. Saoirse liked it that way, they liked the way their Julie’s rib cage moved as they spoke, or the way their heart beated inside their chest.
“Who got the fourth invite?”
Saoirse’s smirk told them the answer was going to be good. “Theo.”
Jules was already vibrating.
Vesuvia wasn’t that different from what they remembered. They had travelled to the City a handful of times when they were studying in Firent and  the plague was no longer a risk. Julianus liked it — lively and cosmopolitan, the atmosphere vibrated with magic, making it seem like anything would happen.
As soon as they reached port, Elizabeth and Tariq dragged Meredith their own way, Drew walking calmly behind them. That left Julianus, Saoirse and Theo to go search for their outfits on their own. They walked the streets together, Jules holding Saoirse’s hand while they animatedly talked with Theo about fashion, textures and the like, sharing jokes as they browsed through the Red Market.
When they ran into Meredith, Julianus couldn’t help but to tease Theo a little bit. Theo replied with some teasing of his own, telling his friend he was sure Saoirse and them wouldn’t even make it out of their room at the party.
“Let’s see,” Jules said, that little smile on their face that no one in the crew knew if Saoirse had copied from them, or them from Saoirse.
They didn’t have much more time to stroll around the City after they got their outfits. Not wanting to be late, they made their way to the Palace, meeting with Meredith on the door. While Meredith and Theo had separate rooms, Saoirse and Jules had one together, as it was customary for couples who didn’t request otherwise. They didn’t remember saying anything about it, but the pink-haired servant that was guiding them through the Palace said one could tell.
Jules felt Saoirse short next to them, quickly followed by their arm around their back.
They wanted to ask the name of the servant, to thank her, but she was gone before they could say anything as soon as they were shown their room. Julianus soon forgot about it anyway, as Saoirse pressed against them from behind.
“If I didn’t know you better, I’d say you were impatient.”
“How about ‘curious’? It’s hard not to be when you have been very insisting about me not spying on your outfit. Despite you helping me choose mine.”
“You’ll have to tame that horse because I want to shower before I begin getting ready.”
Saoirse just made a deadpan comment about their woes, that Jules fully knew they didn’t mean. Saoirse was a patient person (because Saoirse was a person, eldritch existence aside), and Saoirse liked to indulge whatever little ritual Julianus came up with in situ. They found them entertaining, and they could see why their partner liked to come up with little explanations and decorative reasons for certain things.
They just were fun to follow. Not that Saoirse ever expected to think that, but that was their Julie.
Saoirse asked if they were allowed to have a bath with them, and they were, though of course it ended up being half bath, half make out session. Yet, the moment they began getting ready once they were out of it, Julianus shooed them out of the bathroom with a gentle push.
“You’ll get many rewards for your compliance, thank you very much.”
“Oh, I’m the one getting the rewards tonight? I thought you liked being the one getting them.”
“For being a void with eyes and I being the horny human, you’re absolutely incorregible.”
“I thought you liked it.”
“I do,” they said, asking Saoirse to lean down to kiss their lips.
Saoirse kissed them back before going to get ready themselves, looking around their room when they were ready, and seeing how soft the bed was. It was very, to their discovery. Julie was going to like it, they thought — it had not gone past them that while they were not even close to Theo’s original royal status, or Elizabeth’s for that matter, they had come from a very economically comfortable background. To begin with, they were a lawyer who had studied in Firent. That said something on itself.
While their Julie wasn’t conceited in the slightest and had separated their choices from those of their family, out of what Saoirse knew and could tell from having observed humans for so long, there were some things that, like Theo, they couldn’t shake off. Luxurious bedding was one of them: Julie always raided rich people’s quarters for certain possessions and home making elements were one of them. Saoirse’s bed in the ship had never looked nor felt plusher.
Lying back on the bed, waiting, they began making conversation with them. They talked about Vesuvia, about Theo and Meredith, and the party itself. Julianus revealed they didn’t know if they would come to something like this otherwise.
“I don’t think this is the kind of party to come alone, or at least I wouldn’t attend alone. I don’t mind doing things on my own, but again, this isn’t it.”
“I’m sure there’s going to be a lot of people looking for other people.”
“Well, it is a sex party,” they said, their voice carrying into the bedroom from the bath, “I just have a bit of trouble thinking about the hypothetical.”
Julianus did not know how the conversation turned from there to if they’d be interested in someone else, if they weren’t a thing. They couldn’t help trying to figure out why Saoirse was asking, even though they knew Saoirse was asking simply because that’s how they explored things they didn’t quite understand. Asking.
“I think I’m answer is not going to be as interesting as you think it will be. Though I honestly do not know what you’re expecting— the thing is I just can’t picture myself with anyone else other than you now? I know you wouldn’t care if I let you know I wanted another partner or to sleep with someone else, but unless I had a specific itch, I just… don’t see it.
“Like, okay maybe if Meredith wasn’t my boss, but Theo has the right of way there because he is my friend and I want him to be happy, Tariq is very handsome; If you make me think of other ships Jade and Louis are very pleasant to the eye, and maybe in another life I would flirt with them. Maybe in this one too as a joke, and to piss Rodrigo off. Even then they’re all very nice hypotheticals I care little for when I have you right here.
“Your all the private devotion I will ever need.”
They came out of the bathroom. They had their hair in waves, two red flowers pinned to the side of their head. Julianus was wearing a black bustier styled corselette, it had garter straps hooked to black thigh high socks, and was wearing black boots that went almost as high up as the socks. They were fitting into each arm a pair of above the elbow, black gloves.
They looked stunning. They always did. It wasn’t the outfit that made Saoirse look at them like that.
“Mo grá?”
“Aside from the Queen, I don’t think anyone has ever chosen me like that.”
Jules walked towards them, who was now sitting on the bed, and stood between their legs. They kissed their forehead. “Well, to you, to love is to protect. For me, to love is to choose, too. You’re a wonderful person to choose, Saoirse.”
For a being as old as Saoirse, loneliness was something they had to be used to. For a being as old as Saoirse, who also spent so much time around humans, they don’t think they would ever notice what loneliness was if it wasn’t for their proximity to them. Saoirse’s hand found Julianus’ side, as their mouth pressed itself against their skin and their clothes.
“No comments on the outfit? You look very handsome. I am most definitely the luckiest person in this Palace, sorry to Theodore.”
“You look, you look—” Saoirse didn’t know how to finish their sentence. How human of them. How odd. How misplaced. How very Saoirse. Them and Jules were both like that: misplaced. Yet right then they looked beautiful, inviting, sexy, like the sea, like freedom on Saoirse’s hair and like not a wave, but a tsunami changing their coastline forever.
Saoirse didn’t need to finish their sentence for Jules to get it. “See, this is what Tariq means when he says you’re bound to make me mad with power.”
“You like it.”
“Oh, I do. Nothing like being loved and fucked by my favourite eldritch entity. Like I said: my own private devotion.”
Saoirse smiled at them; a kind of smile only reserved for Julianus, one that carried a different complicity than the one they had with the Pirate Queen.
“Do you want to have a look around, or do you want to prove Theo right?”
Sanlaurento snorted. “Never. Let's go make people jealous of how good we look.”
Saoirse was happy to indulge them. Out of their room and into the party, Julianus hooked their arm around Saoirse’s. It made them stop. Looking at them with a little smirk, Saoirse crouched down to sit Julianus’ on their shoulder, turning their head to kiss their thigh.
“Why walk when I can carry you?”
“Mad with power, and it’ll be your fault.”
“I’ll have to find something to keep you in line then.”
“Please do,” they said, catching the innuendo in Saoirse’s tone.

Hiya! I noticed your f/o take over asks and would like to send some! 🌅,🎢, 💬 With Atsushi! Hope your tiger can answer! :3
The tall, silver haired gifted blinks in curiosity at the ask, smiling with interest, “Well, this is new.” He chuckled as he gives a wave, “I’m guessing by your question, I’m meant to respond instead of Dany.” Atsushi mused as he glanced over to the petite brunette in question, who was busy fussing over her work and unaware of the question sent over.
Atsushi chuckled warmly at this and shakes his head, “Well, I’m sure she won’t mind if I take over for a bit; we are both kind of responsible for this blog.” (Includes Jason too 💖).
“Well let’s jump in shall we! Oh! And before anything, we are in our mid-20’s here! So this is going down memory lane!” 🐯✨
🌅How did you two meet?
Oh wow, this feels like so long ago, almost 6 years to be exact! And it’s actually kind of funny now that I think about it! I’m sure Dany agrees.
The way we meet was actually…kind of similar to my situation, yet it has its key differences. For one, Danielle was more on the run and in hiding, she’d use her shadow ability a lot to steal items from small stores to get her food. She knew how to stay off the radar well enough that we had no idea what we were dealing with when the agency was contacted...
Many dubbed her as a ghost due to her shadow gift, which didn’t help Kunikida’s psyche or patience 😅 but Ranpo soon gave us more details after a good laugh. Explaining that this person was a gifted and had a knack for using her ability at night.
So we took the opportunity to find her; my tiger’s hyper senses helped in tracking her, especially when she took notice of how I was able to pick her out. Taking the lead from Kunikida and Dazai and chasing her to one of the warehouses by the Port.
While my ability at the time was well in picking her out, she still had an advantage using the darkness around the warehouse to traverse through the space without making so much as a sound. Suddenly a white light of something flies by and I’m almost struck with what looked like an arrow, yet it disappeared before I realized. It’s like it came from every direction and there was no sure idea on where she was.
Hmm… even when I tried to talk to her, she refused to appear. Only when I made the effort to fight back did she make some appearance, but just slightly with how quickly she left her ability and returned to it. But I got an upper hand on her once I got an idea of her repetitive jabs. Enough for her to reveal herself to me, but not really her.
Rather she appeared as her wolf, I was almost struck by her appearance, maybe out of surprise and awe than fear. My tiger can attest to the feeling, but we were quick to realize the situation were in and wasn’t the time to really admire a large wolf gifted that wasn’t keen on being captured.
And I will say, at the time I hadn’t transformed into a full grown tiger again, not since the Guild chaos. I had better control over my ability, especially due to the President’s influence, but willing that part of my ability again? I couldn’t in that moment with worry I might lose control. I could feel he wanted to leave and break free to protect me when Danielle’s ability overwhelmed me enough to pin me to the ground.
But I could just tell, if you could believe it, that she didn’t want to hurt me, more than anything, intimidate me into submission and scare me off. Overall, Dany didn’t want to fight, she didn’t want to hurt anyone, and I could see she wasn’t just a confused and uncontrolled animal gifted like I was. She was well-aware and just trying to get by from wherever she was running from.
It was then Kunikida and Dazai had caught up, gun fire seeming to break Danielle’s wolf ability attention from me and towards them. Fear clear as day, before Dazai nullified her ability.
By then, we were surprised by her appearance; clearly not expecting her to be small in stature and features not from around Japan. Needless to say, she didn’t automatically wake up like I had when I was found out about my ability. The nullification from Dazai’s ability taking a toll on her on her psyche and connection to her ability from what she later told me. So we took her back to the Agency...
Sorry, about the detail, but that was just our first unofficial meeting, first fight, I suppose you can say 🤔😅 but our first conversation was actually a few days after. Sadly, Kunikida insisted I be kept out of interrogating her, especially after we all found out Lucy knew her from her previous affiliation with the Guild. Letting her be the one up and front of getting Dany to talk when she woke up.
Which I suppose I understand…I would have liked to ease her into speaking too…I did just fine with Kyouka-chan…until she asked for food with my money… >.> plus my Tiger may have been an influence to want to meet this new animal gifted…
Anyway, we’re finally here, meeting time! Seems like I was the first to unofficially meet her and the last one to properly introduce myself to her 😅 by then, Danielle was given a proper uniform by the agency and more composed than her disheveled figure prior.
Hmm… maybe it’s our current relationship standing that making me think so fondly of her in that moment. Or maybe it’s how I've always seen her in all honesty. I admit I was taken aback by her, compared to how she fought me nights before, her eyes appeared more brighter, a unique violet due to her ability’s influence, yet held…a lot of story in them. She was cute, I admitted to myself at the time, her voice soft and held an accent under the Japanese she spoke.
I’m pretty sure we were both surprised by each other to an extent, likely from our first ever meeting and the underlying curiosity of our abilities… Up until Dany just voiced out her thoughts that I was the one she fought against nights ago… To which I began to apologize because of how we encountered and fought each other 😅
She apologized in return too, hesitant and almost embarrassed from attacking me…of course I didn’t fault her for the action, she was just trying to protect herself. And with the years of knowing her, I understand why she did what she did…
Nonetheless! I’m grateful to have been there to unofficially meet her the first time… I don’t think Dany would be where she would be if we didn’t catch up her, well me, because Dazai-San and Kunikida-kun definitely took their time 😅👀 (don’t let them know I said that!).

🎢What was the first date like?
Oh! 😳 our first date together? 🥰
Wow, I remember being so nervous to even ask out of just…fear of rejection. Of course silly thing to think about now, all things considered. And how I asked her was kind spontaneous and blunt after… a serious mission that Dany got hurt in. Feelings coming up to the surface thinking I was going to lose her without saying how I felt.
She said yes of course, once she was completely healed with Yosano’s ability. Dazai may have had a bit of high encouragement from me on what we could have done through the day and what Dany would have liked going into it. Which honestly would have been a bit to overwhelming for her in all the suggestions Dazai gave. Course what would have I expected from him 😅
Nonetheless, Dany and I went on an exploration through areas of Yokohama she wanted to visit, such as a national park that had a vibrant garden and array of ponds to have a meal in. It was during a nice spring season so not to hot or overbearing. She definitely loved every minute, especially a bit of cloud gazing. We talked about several stories we hadn’t talked about before and a few deep ones too, such as what she use to do with her family as a child and how this kind of surrounding reminded her about her old home.
We even took a walk through a small shopping strip, where I may have jumped into an uncharacteristic-of-me moment to want to buy her anything she found an interest in. To which Dany fussed over me to not spoil her with silly trinkets; “What could I possibly want more when I have the best thing in the world right beside me?” 😳🥰💖
I at least bought her a stuffed animal plush; she loves the soft, soft textured ones; loves running her hands through them or carrying them about our home; she really loves them. May even clip a favorite one to her belt; she definitely still has it somewhere on a shelf in our room. 😊
The rest of day went well into the night, where she took the lead in taking me a bit into the outer ring of Yokohama, where it’s more residential and less bright lights of the city. She surprised me with some stargazing, but also getting a really beautiful view of the city from a viewing platform near a hiking route. I had lived in Yokohama for about 3 years at that point and I was still in awe of the view from afar. Considering this was the first time I was viewing it from this new location, I was in taken almost with emotion.. Hmm, maybe recalling an old comment Dazai-san made about Yokohama being my city to protect...
But I was also in awe by Dany too, who rambled a bit on how she found this place later when she expanded her night runs. There was a soft glow on her that night that I remember and it left me kind of..in a daze ☺️ Normally quiet and not much of a talker, but I really enjoyed being the special one enough to hear more of her speak…I could listen to her for hours much like she tends to do for others a lot.
I recall her being surprised by my staring and may have gotten flustered and nervous for rambling the way she did. How silly of her to assume I wouldn’t mind listening to her talk for hours if she wanted to UwU I kind of took on a leap of confidence then to calm her down, taking a hold of her cheek to let her know what I thought...
Needless to say, she was definitely blushing hard in the twilight night. I, even more so when she caught me off guard to kiss me first… (I wanted to be the one to do so…but I suppose she could have a claim for that >.> but I can say I’ve claimed many more after that 💖🥰).

💬You have any pet names for S/I?
Oh plenty!~ Other than everyone commonly referring her to Dany-san or Danielle, mostly by Kunikida, I tend to call her Dany (affectionately); which now that I think of it, I am the only one that does.
Dazai did once and she kind of bristled at him with a glare, granted he was being his usual..flirtatious self with her 🙄 (I swear he does to tease both of us..)
But personal pet names I often refer to her as “Darling” or “My Darling” especially when she’s very anxious and visibly worried. She does appreciate it during those times the most. I’ve also called her “Love” a few times, but mostly out of teasing impersonation of her accent when she does it, it always makes her laugh, snort laugh too (which is adorable), when I try 🥰.
I also have learned a bit of Spanish through our short year of friendship before we became an official couple, where I’ve gradually learned more 💕. While I may not be up to par with her, I can still hold a bit of a conversation in the language; and in learning, I gave her a pet name of “My Star”, so “Mi Estrella ✨” (I do say it kind of how it sounds from the wording 😅 and not like how she says it, but she loves it nonetheless 🥺 this pet name makes her smile and visibly more affectionate 💕💖). It may also be my tiger ability coming out and saying that nickname to refer to her ability ^^;
I do call her “Mika” sometimes, but only in private and when comforting her… She wasn’t so keen to me calling her that in the beginning due to… Well, it took a lot of time for her to get use to it, even when I told her that if she didn’t want me to, I wouldn’t call her that. But she slowly insisted, eventually becoming more of the endearing name she wanted it to sound like with me, and told me it was okay to call her that. It’s not the most common pet name for her, but she appreciates and often asks me to call her that when she is feeling down and in need of reassurance.
I also call her “Kitten” occasionally, in whatever blissful and relaxing time we have together, private or in public. It definitely confused a few of the others on while I settled on calling her that when she technically is a wolf… but it just stuck and Dany doesn’t seem to mind it all! (The silver haired young man looks thoughtful with a smile, recalling how flustered and how she purrs quietly when he says that to her) If anything I think her wolf likes it too, probably another instance of my tiger talking out of me. 😅✨
Be on the look out for a post she made about that “Kitten” nickname! ✨ it’s been on her drafts for a long while now cause she wanted to include a drawing, which she has but knowing her she wants things to be perfect… Honestly everything she does is just... amazing 💕 She needs to realize that more, I’ll make sure she does UwU 🥰😊!
Thank you for the ask anon! This is the first time I've ever done this and I definitely don't mind accepting any more in the future!
Dany can be very busy sometimes with work and tends to get mentally exhausted very quickly. She also tries so hard to be attentive to things that she forgets to care for herself ;;w;; Anything to lighten the load for My Darling 💖🐯 I know another ask came around! So I'll be sure to answer that as soon as I can! — Atsushi 🐯 🌙

I’m gonna rant about the hate that New Horizon *still* for a bit
It’s still completely aggravating to me that people continue to bitch about how much “worse” New Horizons is compared to previous Animal Crossing games. People act like NH is bland or lacks a lot of other things, when really a lot of people are taking what’s new for granted. Let’s break this down a bit:
“New Horizons didn’t bring back a lot of Special NPCs”
Yeah but that’s because their jobs became unnecessary.
 - Booker and Copper aren’t needed because the Lost and Found is more readily accessible (and you don’t need to wait and build their building like in New Leaf, which could take you half a year to get)
 - Resseti and Don aren’t needed because the game finally has an Auto-Save feature (which is incredibly helpful)
 - Harriet isn’t needed because we can now just customize everything about ourselves on our own
 - Cyrus and Reese weren’t needed back in because they were only useful for customizing furniture, which used to take half an hour to do for one lone item, which we can just do now instantly
 - Phyllis, Pelly, and Pete aren’t needed because your mailbox can just hold all your mail now, and you can send a letter whenever you want.
Any other missing NPCs aren’t needed simply because their role doesn’t need to be in the game with all the changes made. And hell, it’s not the first time that a Special NPC doesn’t come back: Porter wasn’t in Wild World or City Folk, and Serena and Farley haven’t made a reappearance since their initial debuts.
“New Horizons didn’t bring back all the items”
While this is true, it isn’t as extreme as people act like it is. Part of the reason is that a lot of furniture you can just craft now, with some having their older versions being customization options. Another part is that some of it is moved to special NPCs like Gulliver. Some sets also had their names changed, (which feels unnecessary, but regardless they’re still there).
Something else to keep in mind with Animal Crossing games is that they’re *very big* games. Like, a lot more so than people realize. Designing the furniture takes a lot of time, let alone all the customization options, and the furniture in this game is a LOT more detailed than in previous games, (consider that the first game was an N64 game ported, then a DS game, then a Wii Game that was just the DS game ported, and then a 3DS game).
Them having to make super high-quality designed furniture AND clothing (which the clothing now has variants, different types, AND has its own texturing to give it more detail, and some clothing flat out being unique models) shouldn’t surprise anyone when some things just end up not being included in the end product.
“Villagers have no personality and say the same things over and over”
Literally in every single game the villagers would say the exact same shit to you all the time, because the game can only have so much space for all the unique dialogue. While I think some certain things could be triggered more often for NPCs to talk about, it’s really not any different than how it’s been, ‘cause there’s only so much that can be done. And the shit about “personality” is just Nostalgia Goggles fogging things up about a game that lacked more things to do than New Horizons on launch.
‘New Horizons has no Quality of Life changes”
40 INVENTORY SPACES
1600 INVENTORY FOR HOUSE STORAGE (WHICH GOT UNNECESSARILY UPGRADED TO 2400)
PLACEABLE FURNITURE OUTSIDE AND BASICALLY FULLY CUSTOMIZABLE TOWN, SOMETHING THAT’S BEEN HEAVILY REQUESTED FOR A LONG DAMN TIME
FUCKING PATHS
MORE CLOTHING SLOTS FOR MORE CHARACTER CUSTOMIZATION
VILLAGERS CAN ACTUALLY WEAR HATS AND SOME ACCESSORIES
LITERALLY ALL THE CHANGES I LISTED ABOVE WITH THE SPECIAL NPCS
CUSTOM DESIGNS NOW GIVE YOU 100 TOTAL SLOTS (even if it’s shared among all players in a town, which I suspect is a space saving thing (which they still give you more in this game because you used to only have 10 personal slots which you had to share between your Pro and normal designs, so really we got like 60 more slots without needing to make other characters just to use them))
Acting like there’s no Quality of Life changes to this game is fucking stupid and short sighted.
“You’re just acting like this game is flawless like a fanboy”
Also fucking wrong! Because I do have some issues with this game.
 - Customized Clothing needs all the options back from New Leaf. I know they’re in the game simply because you can use QRs from that game in this one, so they should just be made available. Also we need a way to turn off the clothing bevel so there isn’t a weird coat seam on some designs. Also, bring back Customized Umbrellas.
 - You should be able to craft multiple pieces of furniture at once if you have the materials, and should be able to craft them into their customized forms as well.
 - Golden Tools should have some way of resetting their health. I *do not* mind that the Golden Tools can break, but you should still be able to customize them so you can reset their health. That way you don’t have to keep getting gold for them. Which speaking of, Gold should be just a bit more common, given how much uses it.
 - More things in this game should do a check if you’ve owned certain items/recipes. Some events in this game will give one of each item in a random order, and won’t give you repeats until it’s given all of them to you once, (such as the fishing tourney). I believe the Seasonal Recipes should do this, and that all events should follow this criteria.
 - The game should give bigger priority to giving you recipes you don’t have. I don’t mind getting repeat recipes, because you’re supposed to give them to friends/players who are missing them, but it should really give more priority to recipes you don’t have.
 - Redd should be a guaranteed appearance every week, and should always come with one legit painting your museum doesn’t have until your Art exhibit is done. The Art for the museum has consistently been the worst aspect of the museum in every game, and I just want that shit to change. Hell, shove KK to appearing on Sundays with Daisy Mae, so we have that extra slot free in the week.
 - Some accessories need to be tweaked so they can be worn with hats. Some I can understand because of clipping, but others are just dumb. Also put the damn bands back on the eyepatches. They look stupid just sitting there.
 - Villagers should play with the furniture more. I get why they don’t use them as much, since if they’re sitting or laying down you can’t gift them stuff, but they should still use them longer than the 30 seconds they usually do.
There’s probably more that I could think of,but those are the bigger complaints I personally have. However, despite all that, I still like New Horizons a lot, and I will still argue that the game is still a marked improvement from what’s come before. People just need to learn to stop bitching about everything.

1646+1649. “Did I ever really matter to you?” “You left me!”
This was prompted by the lovely @definietlynotsatan! I hope you are in for some heavy angst XD
Fandom: Detroit become human | Ship: Reed900 (Warnings: heavy angst, temporary character death (not really dead just deactivated))
‘Hey, tin-can, you know er… I mean, we work well together, right? And… and we… we spent quite a lot of time together and I really like your company. You know how you… Ah, phck. I… I just wanted tto say… I. Phck, Nines, I love you. I don’t think I have ever loved anything as much as I do now. We… I’m bad at this, but I really think there is something between us. And- And I wanted to tell you for quite some time now, but never had the balls to do so. Guess I finally got to it… Could you please say something? Anything?’
Nines remembered these words. Nines remembered how they stung in his heart like rusty nails. He remembered the blush on Gavin’s cheeks and his eyes jumping to his, then down again. He remembered how he had kneaded his hands in nervousness and how hopeful he had sounded stuttering like that. He remembered how everything in him had screamed to smile, to nod and to say these very same words back to him. He had wanted to see the blissful smile in the Detective’s face when he heard them. Would they have hugged? Kissed? Would Nines have the desire to spin the man around in circles and laugh? He knew Tina had. How would live be had he just said these three little words?
He certainly wouldn’t lay at home and cry into the cushions. He wouldn’t try to hide his feelings in the little heavily encrypted and partitioned folder reserved just for that and Gavin and fail terribly. It was a wonder it hadn’t been spotted yet. It was a wonder they didn’t yet knew what was going on. A part of him hoped they would find out. They would delete him, deactivate him and be done with it. He wouldn’t have to feel the loss of something he never had to begin with and never thought he would get. The other part had hoped Gavin would have put a bullet right through his head when he had walked away from him without another word. When he had stared at the human emotionless, turned and walked away. When he left the man. When he lost all he ever wanted. What would happen now? Nines didn’t want to think about it. If they didn’t find out about what had happened to him, then he would have to return to work. To a partner that likely hated him. RA9, Nines wanted the man to hate him. It had been his only chance to survive Nines’ mission. But it still hurt, and it still made Nines feel like his thirium pump would give in any second.
He stayed curled up on his sofa, even as his tears had run out and his pump normalised in rhythm. His mind was blissfully blank of thoughts and Nines was as close to non-existence as he could be in an active state until- There was a knock on the door. Nines startled, turning his head as if that would help making the offending person outside leave.
Of course, it didn’t.
‘Nines?’ Oh, no. ‘Nines, are you at home? Please, if you are, could you… Could you open the door, please?’ ‘Why?’, Nines asked loud enough he could be heard outside. ‘Listen, I am sorry. I might have misunderstood something or… Or not? I… I’m sorry if I offended you or-‘ ‘Go away!’, Nines screamed, sitting up and rubbing his eyes that had started leaking again. ‘I don’t want to talk to you!’
There was silence for a while and Nines had thought the man had actually left. But he was proved wrong, when Gavin spoke up just loud enough for him to hear it: ‘Did I ever really matter to you?’
It made his chest compress and his mind convulse around the hidden folder. He couldn’t. He should. He had to. But he couldn’t. So, he stood up and went to the door. He had to at least give his partner a hint. He opened the door to a man that had obviously been crying. Gavin’s eyes were red and swollen and together with his dark rings, he looked terrible, like a kicked dog left out in the rain. Nines swallowed. He knew he didn’t look just the tiniest bit how he felt, with the streaks of his own tears wiped away easily. He felt so sorry. But he couldn’t stop now. ‘Gavin.’ He nearly choked hearing his own voice speak so softly after hurting his best friend, his [love], like this. ‘Gavin, you are the most important person in my life. You mean the world to me.’
But instead of reassuring the man, Gavin’s face shifted from grief and desperation to anger. To fury and the simplest form of hate. ‘I am… I mean the… Do you even phcking realise what you say?’ Gavin took a step forwards and punched his finger against Nines’ chest. It could as well have been a knife. ‘You left me! I told you I phcking love you! And you left me! Left me standing like I… I don’t know… I- phck! Tell me here and now that you love me and maybe – just maybe – I’ll forgive you, but don’t even dare lie to me! I didn’t survive eighteen years in this job to not know when someone lies to me!’ Nines had to swallow again, trying to get rid of the tightness in his throat that wasn’t there, that couldn’t be there. He had to stay calm. He had to keep his stress levels in check. He hoped to whatever entity was in charge, that no one was listening in right now. ‘I can’t do that, Gavin’, he said as collected as he could, but his voice still wavered. ‘I can’t say the words you want to hear. I’m sorry.’
Gavin squinted his eyes and balled his hands to fists. ‘I phcking knew it’, he muttered to himself, already turning to leave. Nines shook his head. He wanted, but he couldn’t. He couldn’t, but he should. How could he find a way around this, tell Gavin how he felt and at the same time keep himself, Gavin and the whole precinct safe? It was near impossible. But there was a small chance. A small chance that Gavin would understand, even if he was angry and couldn’t think rationally at the moment. He had to try.
Nines ran after him and lightly touched his shoulder. It was enough for the irate human to turn around and near punch him in the face for it. Nines could just about dodge the fist, then he clasped the next one incoming and held Gavin back. ‘Gavin. What I’m going to say to you right now is very important. I can be deactivated if you open the hatch on my neck and pull a small switch. I will open it for you. It is very important that you deactivate me after I said the words you want to hear.’ ‘Phcking hell what are you-‘ ‘Silence, I don’t have a lot of time. I was found and activated by a gang that wants to infiltrate the police. They inserted a program to listen for certain words. Love is one of them. I know that once they find out I made more than acquaintances with anyone, they will use me to pressure them into giving up secrets. Use me to gain more intel and to cover for them. I don’t want to be used that way and I definitely don’t want you involved in that. But for too long what you told me I wanted to say so badly to you. I… feel a lot for you. If you want me to say it, I will. But you have to deactivate me directly afterwards and bring me to Connor. He is the only one that can sort out the program they have inserted in me. Can you promise me that?’ ‘I-‘ ‘Gavin can you promise me that?’
‘Yes! Yes, jesus, I am… I… Well that certainly isn’t a lie…’ ‘It is not’, Nines sighed. ‘That’s why I kept away from everyone. I wanted to find out who they are and put an end to them myself, so I could stay with the DPD. With you. But I never found any clues. Maybe that’s because I’m the only link. Why should a tool know who holds it?’ Gavin looked up and at his fist that was still held by the android. Carefully he opened his hand and intertwined their fingers as Nines relaxed his slowly. ‘I promise you, Nines, I will do as you said. I will bring you to Connor and if he can’t help you, then I swear by my life we will find these phckers and put an end to this. Tell me what you have to say. Please.’
Nines nodded and lifted his free hand to his neck to open the hatch. Then he lifted Gavin’s hand and laid it into his open port directing him towards the switch. He shuddered as the human found it. His life was now in his hands. Figuratively and literally. He sighed and looked deep into Gavin’s green eyes.
‘There will never be someone I trust more than you, Gavin. The day we became friends was the day my life got meaning. I learned to feel just by being around him. I want to be near you, I want to hold you, kiss you and call you mine. I can only hope we see each other again after this. If not, I want to thank you for the time you gifted me, Gavin. My pump beats just for you. I love you.’ He could see how Gavin’s eyes began to fill with tears again. ‘Gavin’, he reminded him with urgency as he felt his communication systems connect to something. He pressed his eyes close. ‘Gavin, please. You have to press it. Now!’
Nines couldn’t wait any longer. The first status ping reached the connection and it wouldn’t take any longer for the channel to be free for communication. He lifted his hand onto Gavin’s, felt his warmth in his palm…
And pulled the switch for him.
-
A wooden roof. Plywood. Shed in darkness, but not entirely. There was a small light illuminating just the corner of the room and casting everything in a warm, cosy twilight. He turned his head. There was a nightstand next to the bed. Dust had gathered on top of it. He frowned. He was lying on something soft that gave a bit in to his weight and he was tucked into a roughly textured blanket.
‘Nines!’ He turned his head the other way only to be near attacked by someone falling on top of him trying to snake his arms around his neck. ‘Thank god, you are awake.’ Nines finally registered the voice and smell to Gavin Reed. ‘Gavin? How-‘ ‘Three months.’ Gavin let go of him to allow him to sit up. ‘You were deactivated for three months. It took us far too long to get to them. You haven’t been the only one to be inserted into the police force by them. But we could finally take them down. Only then I could safely reactivate you.’ Nines frown deepened, as he searched first for his secret folder and then, when he found it, for any sign of the surveillance program. ‘They are gone’, he murmured not quite believing it yet. ‘Yes. Yes, they are.’ Gavin smiled at him, taking his hand. ‘Connor made sure to delete every last mark from them.’ ‘I… thank you.’ Nines blinked a few times, carefully decrypting his files, looking out for any code snatching it away from him. Nothing happened. His feelings and memories were free for everyone to see and no one was there to jump on it. He smiled, refocussing his eyes on Gavin.
‘I would do so again and again’, the man reassured him. ‘Just… Why did you never tell me before?’ ‘I was afraid to lose you. I didn’t want to risk that. I never said anything I didn’t need to.’ The Detective smirked, shuffling over to sit down next to him. ‘Well, I got you in my attic, in the most romantic lightning you will get from me and it’s just us two. Anything you need to tell me now?’ Nines huffed amused and wrapped his arms around the human, holding him close in a strong embrace.
‘I love you.’

DAMN
Mass Effect Legendary Edition is so fucking good
i’m not gonna go so far as to say it’s the only way you should ever play these games again. i think it’s the best way to play them, especially if you’ve never played them before. but the originals still have value if you’re a Mass Effect superfan like me.
Legendary Edition 1 fixes a lot of the clunkiness that the original ME1 had. this is mostly a good thing.... but also, that clunkiness had a certain charm, and i absolutely want to revisit it on occasion.
i don’t know much about LE2. i haven’t experienced much of it myself. if i had to guess, i’d say LE2 is probably the only one that outright obsolesces the original; everything looks way better, and ME2 didn’t have much clunky charm to it to begin with. but of course, OG ME2 inherently just still has value since you’d want to import from ME1 and to ME3.
and then from what i’ve heard, LE3 is largely identical to the original ME3, just with AI-upscaled textures (which makes sense, even by modern standards OG ME3 is a really good-looking and graphically impressive game). this’d also make it the definitive way to play ME3... if it weren’t for the fact that it removed the multiplayer, and the multiplayer is still really good. i fucking adore ME3 multiplayer. and the fact that it came out in 2012 does it a lot of favors, because that’s when studios were just starting to experiment and test the waters with lootbox mechanics. back then, lootboxes were still an unproven concept, studios didn’t know if they could get away with them, so they weren’t as disgusting as they are in modern games. honestly, if it weren’t for the mere presence of microtransactions (which are inherently exploitative), i’d say ME3′s lootboxes do more good than harm. i’d actually honestly recommend new fans pick up the original ME3 (it’s pretty cheap these days anyways) just so they can experience the multiplayer. don’t touch the microtransactions, just use the in-game currency. there’s enough of it to reasonably get new lootboxes regularly, don’t worry.
all that, and the fact that there are mods for the original trilogy that haven’t come out for the Legendary trilogy.... yet. but i’ve heard for a fact that the Expanded Galaxy Mod- the ME3 mod- is getting ported over, and i’d imagine a lot of the other essential mods (like the ones that re-implement the gay versions of Ashley, Kaidan (ME1), Tali, and Thane’s romances) will also eventually make their way over. so that’s only an issue for now.
but enough about the original trilogy still having value, let’s talk Legendary Edition.
for some background: the Mass Effect trilogy is collectively my favorite game of all time. i replay the entire thing at least once a year, and i have since i first got the trilogy collection on PS3 in 2013. so i fucking know these games like the back of my hand. i can basically play them in my head. and it’s especially true for ME1, since it’s the first one (and thus, if i start a playthrough and don’t finish it, i’ll at least have seen ME1) and also imo the best one (just to clarify though, while i AM a “Mass Effect 1 is the best Mass Effect” person, i’m NOT a “Mass Effect 1 is the only good Mass Effect” person; i’m actually one of those weirdos who genuinely loves ME3, and i honestly hold equal amounts of affection for both, with ME2 not far behind).
and god.
i’m just constantly finding myself blown away by how good Legendary Edition 1 looks.
even on the ultra-high graphics settings, OG ME1 looks super rough in a LOT of ways. i think OG ME1 is a good-looking game, for sure, but it’s a testament to how a good art style can salvage a game with garbage graphics. ME1 only looks good because the style they were going for is so unique and beautiful. the actual graphical capabilities? it’s bad even by 2007 standards, and imo 2007 was the worst year for video game graphics since the N64-PS1 days. games from 2007 almost universally look super weak now.
but here....... god. everything looks so good and intense and sharp and detailed.
the Mass Relays are a standout. they looked cool in the original, but god they’re so beautiful now. i’m constantly finding myself thinking “jesus i really understand what Tali means when she talks about how Quarians appreciate the aesthetic value of the Mass Relays”.
there have only been two major annoyances i’ve had so far:
the dumb Femshep redesign is still dumb after all these years, and when they announced New Femshep could actually work in LE1/2 now, i was really hoping they’d also do the reverse with Old Femshep, and.... only kinda. when you go to customize Femshep’s appearance, the first preset it tries to go to does actually look a lot like the old default, even moreso than what you’d get if you tried to import ME1/2 Femshep into ME3 (that was actually a bit of a pleasant surprise). but it’s still not perfectly like her. they outright removed the old default hairstyle. it was already baffling when they removed it from OG ME3, it’s even more baffling now. that used to be the default, why is it not even an option anymore UGHHH
they STILL haven’t fixed the menus. i’m used to these games on PS3 and only migrated to PC last year, and god, navigating the menus is a pain with mouse and keyboard. if you want to back out of a menu, you have to either hit “escape” (which is in the corner of your keyboard) or click a tiny little button in the corner of the screen. it’d be so great if you could just back out of a menu by right-clicking or something, like how on PS3 you could back out of a menu by hitting the circle button. i know Legendary Edition also finally fixed the controller support on PC, but when i migrated to PC, i realized i did actually prefer mouse and keyboard for actual gameplay. it’s just the menus that suck with mouse and keyboard.

Three Days ~ 81
Tumblr media
~*~Emma~*~
I loved everything about the calendar Claire had laid out. She was attentive to Sebastian’s schedule and had taken what we wanted to do and made suggestions. On days we stayed in the city there was a combination of guided and free time. We were set up to avoid lines, with Claire assuring us our guide would provide direction and disappear. I literally wanted to get lost. I think that is the only way to find local treasures. I liked to get away from tourist areas. Paris had a good metro system. Picking a direction and hopping off when we saw something interesting would be fun.
We took the elevator down with Claire. She would make our requested changes and arrange everything. We'd have our finalized itinerary when we returned tonight. At her suggestion we reserved a table for seven at a small brasserie. Directions were simple: head south to cross the Seine then west, and the place was a block past the Port Alexandre III bridge. It was half hour walk and took us along the Tuileries Gardens. It also took us by Chanel, Fendi, Louboutin, Atelier, and Valentino. The last being the only place we did more than window shop. Valentino was the show Sebastian was invited to attend. I suspected invited really meant paid to attend. I wasn't going to the show, but I would meet him after for the party. Sebastian would be dressed for the event and looked around to see what he might wear.
Sebastian kept his eye on the time as we strolled hand in hand along the Seine. There were several dinner boats docked along the shore. We found the one we’d be on tomorrow. A dinner cruise at sunset sounded very romantic. Honestly, there wasn't much in Paris that didn't sound romantic. I’m sure some is subconscious with the stereotype of Paris as the City of Love. However, walking over the Port Alexandre III bridge, along the Seine, and sitting down at a table on a cobblestone sidewalk is unarguably romantic.
Looking at his empty wine glass, Sebastian mussed, "French wine tastes better in France."
"It does." I swirled the last bit in my glass, watching the motion of the deep red liquid. "I imagine it’s the combination of food, smell, and ambiance."
Sebastian leaned across the table for a kiss, "And the company."
"Thank you for bringing me along."
"No one I'd rather be with. Anywhere." He took my hand, "If we weren't here, we'd be together in New York."
"It's better to be here."
"Yes," his eyes sparkled with laughter, "it's better to be here." He paid our check and put his arm around me as we walked in the opposite direction from the hotel. I really needed a map, but Sebastian seemed to know where he was going. I was fine to follow along.
A few blocks Later Sebastian squeezed me a little tighter, "Curious?"
"Enjoying the journey." I stroked his side, "Where are you taking me?'
"Someplace I'm told has a beautiful view. I wouldn't know personally, but I have faith."
We came out from buildings to the edge of a greenspace. To the north was a clear view. "La Tour Eiffel." I knew maybe two dozen French words and just used three of them. We walked to the center of the park where a path led to and set up the perfect view. I stopped, turning in to hold onto him. "A very romantic view of the Eiffel Tower at sunset. People will talk."
Sebastian kissed me, our lips parting just enough for a taste. "They're really going to have something to talk about then. Because we'll be enjoying a very romantic sunset view from the second level of La tour Eiffel."
My eyes widened.
"Sunsets are magic. Where else would you and I spend our first sunset in Paris?"
"Good point. You've been plotting." I wrapped my arms around his as we walked.
"Oh Emma, I am always plotting ways to make you smile."
We climbed the stairs to the second level. I was never more thankful for my trips to the gym and running. Claire had told Sebastian the view was better here. The summit was gorgeous, but it was too high to make out the landmarks. We wandered around looking at the view of the city, pointing out where we'd walked, and places we wanted to go. We hung out on the west side of the tower until some people left the railing to head to the top. The view as the sun started to sink was incredible. Clouds had moved in and were giving the pink purple sky texture. Sebastian was pressed against me with his arms wrapped around mine. He kissed the side of my neck, “Feels a little familiar.”
Indeed, it did. Our first kiss started like this. I turned my head enough for him to kiss me, “Almost as perfect.”
Sebastian laid his cheek against mine where we were sharing the same view. “I was so nervous that night.”
“Nervous now?”
“Nope.” He gave me a tight squeeze and kissed by my ear. “I knew you were important, but I never imagined you’d mean as much to me as you do.”
I turned to the side and pulled him around where the sunset was beside us. I smiled, laying my hand over his heart.
Sebastian pulled his head back, “You look like you’re about to cry.”
I shrugged, “Could happen. I’m in Paris, on the Eiffel Tower at sunset, with you telling me how much you love me.”
“I never said those words.”
“You didn’t have to.” I pressed my lips to his, keeping one hand on his chest, the other holding on around his neck. “Te ador, Sebasti-an. Însemni atat de mult pentru mine.” <I adore you. You mean everything to me>.  My vocabulary was limited, but the words didn’t matter as much as him feeling them.
“Ești ca soarele. Mă țineți cald, luminați-mi lumea și aduceți bucurie.Nu vreau să-mi imaginez viața fără tine în ea. Te iubesc din toată inima, Emiliana.”
See, I didn’t understand all those words, but I sure as hell felt them all the way to my toes. Translation would have to wait. I wanted to kiss him in a way that wasn’t approriate for standing on a balcony with other people around. I kept myself in check, while still getting the contact I wanted.
Sebastian put his mouth close to my ear and whispered, “You are like sunshine. You keep me warm, brighten my world, and bring me joy. I dont want to imagine my life without you. I love you with all my heart, Emiliana.”
We kissed again. A little longer. A little deeper. I laid my head on his chest. I don't even know if I have the words to explain how I was feeling. Words didn't come close to covering it. Happy, cherished, safe, loved. None were enough. I felt everything.
"Hey, we need a picture." Sebastian's voice had brought my attention to him, but done nothing to break what I was feeling. He had his phone out and we turned our backs to the sunset.
There was an older couple behind, now in front, of us. The man held out his hand and spoke with a French accent. "I would be happy to take the picture for you."
"Merci." Sebastian handed over his phone.
The woman looked at me after her partner gave Sebastian his phone back. "What language where you speaking?"
"Romanian."
"Ah." She smiled, "I do not know what you were saying, but the moment felt romantic."
Sebastian and I laughed, saying "Sorry" at the same time.
"Non, never apologize for others feeling your love. It's a wonderful thing."
We thanked them again and seeing how short the line for the elevator was we went up. It seemed a shame to not make out in the dark at the top of the Eiffel Tower. We weren't the only ones with that idea.
Finding a cab was as easy as in New York and we were back at the hotel in twenty minutes. We picked up our itinerary before heading to our room. A few steps into the room I smelled roses. They were for Sebastian. Valentino had sent them, a bottle of champagne, and fresh strawberries as a welcome.
Sebastian popped a strawberry in his mouth, "Terrace?"
I nodded and pointed to the bedroom, "I'll meet you out there." I quickly washed my face, brushed my hair, and changed into a simple sea green silk chemise with a drape front.
There were two doors leading to the terrace. Sebastian would be on the sitting room side, so I went out the bedroom door. Sebastian had set the champagne and strawberries on the table. He was at the railing, leaning onto his elbows. He looked relaxed with his hands held in front of him and one of his long legs bent. He made my mouth water.
I don't know if he was deep in thought or chose not to look over, but he didn't until I ran my hand down his back, leaving it to rest at the base of his spine.
Sebastian's eyebrows shot up when he looked over, "Ooof. Wow." I saw him swallow hard as he stood up. "You are sexy." He stepped closer, sliding his hand around from my waist to bring us together. The way he looked at me was full of desire.
"I'm sorry you had to bring me all the way to Paris for you to get lingerie." He undoubtedly appreciated the effort.
He shook his head, "I have no complaints about how you come to me."
My knees nearly buckled. How I come to him. Jesus. I looked up, mouth open with a slight smile, "I love you."
He just grinned. "I love you."
I felt the touch of his hand on my face before I felt his mouth against mine. His open mouth matched mine, our tongues meeting immediately with restrained hunger.
Sebastian's thumb ran over my lip. He tilted his head toward the table, "Champagne?"
"Yes, please."
His eyes moved down my body again before turning away to pour. He brought the glasses to me at the railing, "What shall we drink to?"
I looked up, licking my lips, teasing him. "A perfect first day in Paris with my love."
"And a perfect night to come."
We touched glasses and drank. There were lights along the center path of the gardens and accent lights shining up into flowering bushes.
"It's beautiful down there."
Sebastian brought my hand to his mouth. Soft lips and the briefest touch of tongue. "It's beautiful up here too."
He led me to the table, sitting on the nearest chair and pulling me onto his lap. His patience lasted as long as it took him to finish his champagne. Setting his glass on the table he took my glass and put it next to his. His hand went to my neck to pull me closer. Instead of kissing my lips he went for my neck.
I sighed contentedly with the feel of his warm mouth on my neck. Soft kisses were interspersed with licks and gentle pulls at my skin. The hand around my waist held on loosely while his other hand supported my head. His hair was shorter, but still long enough to run my fingers through. I felt him react to my nails against his scalp. That brought his attention from my neck to my mouth. Touch changed from static to freely roaming over the clothes. I'd never tire of touching him. Or being touched by him.
Sebastian came up for air. I mapped his neck with my mouth. He smoothed up the silk to cup my breast, his thumb rubbing back and forth over my nipple. I sucked his earlobe into my mouth, grazing it with my teeth as I let him go. "Je veux te faire l'amour."
He mumbled, "I something something love."
"I want to make love with you."
"You learned this where?"
I gave him a half smile, "There are literally French people everywhere."
"Meaning you asked the nice lady at the Eiffel Tower."
"She was in the bathroom. She thought you were tres bon and suggested "je veux te baiser", I want to fuck you."
He grimaced and shook his head.
"I also know kiss me, I just want to suck your cook, and please, lick me."
"You've got us covered." He dipped his head to leave a wet spot from him sucking my nipple. "You pick up languages easily."
"I have a good memory"
"Say the first thing again."
"Je veux te faire l'amour." I scraped my nails along his beard.
"Me too."
I stood up, taking the hand that was on my breast, and led him into the bedroom.
This was a quiet night. I did get to use a few of my new words. Whispered in the dark. Caresses and kisses stayed light. Tender. We knew how to touch, how to taste, and how bring pleasure with both. We didn't need words. Sighs and quiet moans were enough to encourage and appreciate. After our bodies were sated, we laid in each other’s arms with more soft kisses and quiet words. I lost track of how many times we said I love you, or maybe it was all feeling and my mind heard the unspoken words.
I laid with my head on his shoulder, my hand on his chest with one of his covering it. His fingers played over the skin on my arm. My breathing synchronized with the rise and fall of his chest. I was almost asleep. When Sebastian's lips touched my forehead, "I want to feel like this always."
"Mmm, Ok, we'll do that."
"You gonna put it on our to do list?"
I looked up and stretched to reach his lips, "I've got it covered."
"That's my girl." The emotion in his face told me he'd felt his words.
I put my hand on his face, "Always."

Xbox Series X Pro Controller Hex Blade Pro Controller Review
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQUxVg75v2Y
Hello everyone! Welcome back to Too Much Tech.
And in today's video, we're going to be reviewing
this controller that I have from Hex Gaming.
This is the Xbox version of this controller
and obviously will work with Xbox One, One X, Series S,
and Series S.
Why Microsoft name of that?
Not entirely sure.
I actually don't have the new consoles myself.
I have an Xbox Series X, but I primarily use this
on PC.
So what, that's what most of my experience is going
to be on.
Obviously, it's an Xbox One controller
like all the functions you know, what not worth the mic.
This whatever port that nobody ever really uses.
And it does have Micro USB,
just like a regular Xbox controller, because that's what
it's based on.
But, I do wish that Microsoft would like update
to USB Type-C. Sony did.
Sony did.
So, Microsoft, you're next.
But, not necessarily in regards to this controller,
because obviously they're just modifying the ones
that Microsoft has.
And this one I think is an incredible value
for what it is.
And it's really easy to use, other than like maybe
like swapping the panels and whatnot,
but we'll talk about that a little bit later.
So first up, let's go ahead and talk about
the unboxing experience. So, I think the box
actually looks really clean.
It's got a controller just so that you can easily take off
the thumbsticks, and then the two paddles,
or buttons I should say, that are on the back
of the controller.
The Hex Blade tactical gaming controller
for Xbox One and PC.
Designed for esports through Hex Gaming.
Blah, blah, blah.
I will leave Hex Gaming's link in description below,
because they did send this controller out to me
a couple...
No. Two, three months ago I want to say, in January.
And it's pretty clean.
They do give you a few different thumbsticks in the box,
so they give you a domed medium, a domed long,
a concave long, and a regular thumbstick.
And then, obviously you have the ones that come
on the controller. Two remappable buttons
on the back, and the trigger control mechanism
basically you have trigger stops.
So, really nice I would say.
The controller, the feel in the hand is pretty premium.
But let's check out this carrying case
that they give you as well, because this is not
a bad value at all.
So, you have a quick start guide right here,
which is just going to show you, you know,
how to use the controller and whatnot.
And then, on the back, obviously you know,
you have your rear button setup that we'll get
into in just a bit.
Actually, let's go ahead and talk about that right now.
It is also really nice as well that they give you
a six-month warranty for defects with the controller,
but if you have any issues, I would just hit them up
on social networks. And then you just have
like these little, little storage compartments
very similar to an Elite controller for your additional
thumbsticks and whatnot.
And taking off the thumbsticks is really easy.
You just pull it off, and then you just have
to line it back up to put it back on.
And that's it.
Super duper easy. Personally, I have been using
the two convex thumbsticks, the shorter ones.
I wish that there was a medium length thumbstick
that came in the box that was convex.
That would be perfect for aiming for me,
because this does feel a tad short.
But, otherwise, you know, I think it's fine.
And it is decently grippy as well. I would say it's a bit
more grippy than the thumbsticks that Microsoft uses
on their controllers.
Okay. Getting down to the controllers.
So, the controller obviously is extremely comfortable.
Some of the options that I selected myself,
because they did allow me to customize the controller myself.
I just went with the black back buttons,
and then this white back here,
the side grip I believe only comes in black
if you want this kind of texture.
But I think that it looks pretty cool.
And then, the best thing about this controller
is the different face plates that you can get.
Now, these you can't really, you know, swap them out.
You just got to pick it when you decide to get
your controller, but these face plates
are really cool and they do have themed controllers as well
that you can pick from, but I would just customize
my own personally.
I like this little swirl that they got going on.
I just think it looks really cool and very novel.
In terms of like the performance and whatnot.
You do have trigger stops here, so you do have
a full trigger press.
You switch that down and now you've got
a half trigger press, which I think is very useful
for shooters.
Three step trigger stops I don't really think
are fully necessary.
Two steps I think are fine. It's nice to just have it,
but if you did have one additional step,
what I found one some controllers that usually have
those multi-stage trigger stops sometimes it just comes off
and then it doesn't even...
It's not that it doesn't work,
but like if you hit it too hard, sometimes they just
get disengaged, so I feel like the one level of trigger stop
is fine.
Now, in terms of the batteries and whatnot,
you know, it's not rechargeable or at least I didn't opt
for the rechargeable battery pack.
This is more of an Xbox issue.
The battery life is just however long your AA batteries
are going to last.
So, performance wise, thet thumbsticks
are extremely smooth. I would say that these
are comparable to the PowerA controller
that I reviewed a while ago which, those I like quite a bit.
Those are extremely smoooth.
This is very similar.
Maybe...
If I have to quantify like 10% slower-ish.
But I mean, you know, controlling it wise,
is perfectly fine. I do think that these thumbsticks
are very good, very grippy as well.
D-pad it's just normal.
You know, it's just a regular D-pad
from an Xbox controller, just recolored.
But, it is fairly tactile. Controller does feature Bluetooth.
I usually just paly wired, but otherwise,
it's a very, very good and premium feeling
Elite style controller for the Xbox platform.
And this is also now probably going
to be my favorite controller to use as far
as having controllers on Windows.
Reason being, I just really enjoy the placement
of these back paddles here. Like this is just so easy
and natural to hit quickly.
And it doesn't really,
you know, take much effort to actuate it.
And there's no weird placement that your thumb has to
basically learn like you do with a Scuf.
Like having a Scuf, you got to kind of learn
like a weird placement to use these back paddles.
But, using this Hex Gaming controller,
it's very easy. Like it's very natural.
Nothing that you have to relearn.
Your hands just naturally rest right where
those buttons are.
And I feel like that's the most important thing.
If you're going to be using a Pro controller,
it should feel 100% natural to you.
So, if you're looking for the most natural feeling
Pro controller for the Xbox platform,
I will look no further than this.
And then, and also, this thing is extremely customizable.
Like I mean seriously, it's like insane.
So right now we are on Hex Gaming's website,
and you know, you can view all the available controllers
that they have.
But personally, I will go right to making my own.
But I mean, it looks like they got a sale going on
right now where some are between $35-ish to $45 off
which is very good.
I mean that's pretty insane.
And then, also they do have PlayStation controllers
available as well, but I believe these are
for PS4.
The case, honestly for me, looks a little strange,
so I don't really know if I would check out
a PlayStation controller from them.
And obviously, the PS4 controllers...
PS4 controllers are good and you can use them
on PS5. But more or less, you're only going
to be using it on PS4 games.
Like if the game is not PS4 compatible,
your controller doesn't work on PS5 which kind of sucks,
and I wish that Sony would change it,
but I'm pretty sure they aren't going to,
because obviously they want to sell their new controllers.
So, I hope that Hex Gaming is going to get
PlayStation PS5 controllers in soon
that are also just as customizable.
As we can see, they are indeed planning on it as well,
so for your PlayStation guys, be sure to stay tuned,
because I'm pretty sure they're going to be coming out
with something and I will probably
review it when it comes.
But back to the topic at hand, the Blade controller
so you can make your own. We're going to click that.
And I mean look at just how many face plates there are.
Is this...
I don't think that's the one that I picked.
Let's see here.
I got this origin of chaos.
This one looks so clean to me. I absolutely knew
that I had to have it when I seen it.
I mean you got a blood splatter.
Weeds. You know, if that's your thing.
Like you know, whatever, dude.
Oh, they got a couple of them. There are a couple of it.
If you're a cannabis enthusiast, you know,
they got you covered.
And they got chrome.
Chrome cy... That's kind of clean. That chrome cyan,
chrome silver.
Okay. You know. Just depends on what you're into.
Clear. Even if, you know, if you're after the Game Boy
retro vibes.
Well, they got this...
What is this? Like a translucent, where it's not exactly
as transparent. That's kind of clean.
D-pad, they got a ton of different options.
I believe I went for the matte white.
And then, they got some chrome options as well.
ABXY, you know. They just have a ton
of different options in all the different categories.
Different base colors and whatnot for your thumbsticks.
RB buttons you can change as well. You can get a little wild
with them.
Even the buttons on the back, you can also change
the color of these two. So I mean,
It's pretty cool. I think that, you know,
by the time you get one of these all the way out,
you know, you get up to about that $200 price point.
I think it's a pretty fair deal. I mean, right now,
I mean this controller looks pretty insane.
And we haven't like added anything functionally
to the controller, you know. We could have went
with the barebones controller for $140 which is pretty nuts.
But, you know, once we start to customize it,
add on a few of those things, it's only like, you know,
$40, maybe $50 max if you're really pushing it,
but I don't even think it'll let me go that high.
I mean it really only added like an extra like $35.
And we had a pretty fully kitted custom controller.
Hex Gaming...
I don't know guys. That's a really good deal.
You know, Scuf is very easy to go.
$200 plus.
I think that this is a very good and fair price
for, at least an Xbox controller. I'm curious
what the price is going to be
on the PlayStation 5 controller.
So, you know, I'm pretty sure it's going to be a bit more.
If it's similarly priced to this,
I would say it's incredibly fair.
Even topping out at about $200.
I think that's pretty decent.
You know, spending $200 on the controller,
especially like after I'm kind of past the whole
controller phase at the moment,
it's just a little, it's just a little much for me.
$150, $170 is quite a lot.
But at the same time, you got the Elite 2 controller
which is pricey as heck, but this is a lot
more customizable.
So, I don't know. I don't know.
But for now, this controller is definitely my favorite.
Huge shout-out to Hex Gaming for sending this out as well.
If you guys are interested in it for yourself,
I will have Hex Gaming linked in the description below
so you guys can check them out.
But that is going to be it for this video.
If you guys enjoy, feel free to drop a like,
subscribe, if you guys are new to the channel as well.
And thank you again for watching.
Join the Discord, follow me on Twitter,
and I will see you guys on the next one.

Thoughts on Nintendo making the Super Mario 35 game and 3D All Stars limited physically and even digitally?
It’s legitimately surprising how blind Nintendo is certain things. And even if they aren’t blind, they’re... ignorant, in a sense? Frugal to a fault? They’re dumb. Amazingly dumb. Let’s go with that. That's a nice way to put it.
I tweeted that I’d recently finished replaying Super Mario Sunshine a year or two ago (it took me roughly four years!) and that I’d burned through the PC port of Super Mario 64 not that long ago over the course of a single weekend. And that, because of this, I found it hard to justify paying $60 for the Super Mario 3D All-Stars collection.
I don’t want this to sound like “because I played them for free, I don’t want to buy them.” I already bought and paid for Super Mario Sunshine on the Gamecube, and I own at least two, maybe even three copies of Super Mario 64 (original cart, Wii VC, Wii U VC). That's because Super Mario 64 is also one of the most influential games of all time. I know I say that a lot, but I'll repeat it as many times as I need to. Any third person action game made in the last 25 years owes something to what Super Mario 64 figured out -- analog character movement, how to set up the camera, all of it. Even if Super Mario 64 didn’t invent everything about 3D character movement, it probably still figured out a better way to do it. All modern game design roads lead back to that game. I will absolutely buy another copy of Super Mario 64.
But you have to do it right.
If you aren’t matching or or exceeding the work that fans are doing for free, then you are asking me to pay money for a worse quality product.
Tumblr media
I can play Super Mario 64 at wide screen, in 4K, at 60fps, with modern camera controls, thanks to the PC port. It sounds cleaner, and it looks better than the N64 game did. Even if you subtract the recreated textures and the high-def models and just play the game with the original assets, it’s still running smoother and plays tighter, but still feels like Super Mario 64.
A case could be made that these enhancements to Super Mario 64 are pretty big and would require lots of new work and testing (as if Nintendo couldn’t just account for that). But, then, what about Super Mario Sunshine? Now, the All-Stars version has been updated to run in widescreen, sure, but even more could be done without messing anything up.
Super Mario Sunshine as it shipped on the Gamecube ran at 30fps, but that’s not always how the game was shown. For a large portion of its development, Super Mario Sunshine actually ran at 60fps. At some point, Nintendo decided to cap it at 30fps, likely because it couldn't maintain a stable 60. Using the emulator Dolphin, and the right Gameshark/Gecko code modifier, it’s possible to restore Sunshine’s original 60fps framerate.
youtube
All the game logic under the hood was probably always running at 60fps, it’s just they capped the rendering at 30 for the final game. And yet, the All-Stars version seemingly retains the 30fps cap, even though the Switch could probably do 60fps in this game with both joycons tied behind its back.
For a company that constantly oversteps their boundaries when it comes to fighting the threat of piracy, they sure seem to be making an excellent case for why people should pirate their games, because they’re lowballing things like this and expecting consumers to gobble it up. Thank you Mister Nintendo, sir, for this generous offering of reheated table scraps.
No other extras, no other bonuses. You get these three games and a soundtrack player. Development history? Alternate versions, like Super Mario 64 DS? What about archival material? Concept art, or anything like that? A lot of people are over the moon about Nintendo history right now thanks to the Gigaleak. No? You’re not going to provide anything interesting or cool? Just a bare bones collection of three games presented basically as-is? Not even Super Mario Galaxy 2? Can't be too generous, after all. It's only been 35 years, and Mario's just one of the biggest, most important franchises in all of gaming. Gotta save Galaxy 2 for the, uh... next 3D Mario collection...?
The whole release date thing is just the final slap in the face. It’s Nintendo creating their own artificial scarcity. This is something I’ve picked up on regarding t-shirts -- I run a Redbubble store with shirts I’ve done, and the sales have never been stellar. In four or five years, I’ve made something like $18. Total.
Why? Because they’re always available. The few times I’ve actually encouraged sales a little bit is when I suggested some shirts might be getting retired, eventually. And when you think about it, that’s the entire crux of something like The Yetee. Either you buy this shirt right now, right here, today, or it goes away and may never come back. Limited edition stuff boosts sales because it forces people to make a decision.
It also boosts a festering aftermarket, where, because people know this is a limited edition thing, they can effectively “buy stock” that will effectively collect interest over time. Buy them at $60 now, mark them up for $80, or $90, or $120+ in a year or three. But then all that does is create a scenario where legitimate customers aren’t going to be able to buy the product, because the people who flip these in the aftermarket will have spent $1500 hoping to make a return of $2500-$3000.
You saw this with Amiibo. You saw it with the NES Classic and SNES Classic. It is TWO THOUSAND AND TWENTY and every store front worth a penny allows “third party sellers.” Everything is Ebay now. Wal-mart, Newegg, Best Buy, Amazon, Target, whatever. You name a major retail brand, and they probably let some random goober scalp aftermarket products out of their garage. In many states, scalping tickets is banned, but online this is just “business.” I’m sure Jeff Bezos is elated you spent $230 on a Squid Sisters Amiibo double pack (original MSRP: $30). You don’t get to be the richest man in the world by forcing your best moneymakers to play fair.
Nintendo has taken many notes. The bare minimum of effort, for full price, and “oh, gosh, you better buy it now! It might not ever come back! The faster you give us your money, the better!”
Go jump in a lake. I get better and more features in an emulator and I can play these games right now, today, if I really wanted to. If you aren’t going to offer competitive features and business, then our conversation is over.

Shawn Swift interview, part 2
You can find Part 1 of the interview here:
https://iamrealbuilder.tumblr.com/post/635493519657730048/shawn-swift-interview-part-1
Interview part 2, November 2020:
Corentin : You've previously stated that you stopped working with Sunstorm before Caribbean Life. Do you know why you're credited for it?
Shawn Swift : I left Sunstorm shortly after work on Life's a Beach began. So I'd probably provided them with some ideas, though I can't recall any I might have been responsible for. I'd also begun work on a map which if I recall correctly, was to feature some kind of caribbean jail or fort. I don't know if that ever made it into the final game as I never played it, but I didn't get very far on that map. I think I'd only made one cell at that point.
C: I'm wondering if perhaps some small constructions of yours were used within Caribbean maps. For instance I believe that this truck of yours from Final Destination was re-used by Robert Travis in DC (or was it the contrary?)  [editor note: Final Destination is a map from Xtreme, another DN3D add-on by Sunstorm]
S: Robert and I collaborated on the submarine base if I remember correctly. He focused on the interior of the sub, while I built parts of the base, and he finished it up. So yeah, I probably started with with that truck, re-using it and the spritework from my previous map. […] aside from my re-use of that truck, I don’t know of any re-purposing of old maps which took place.
C: So you can confirm that most if not all of the maps in Xtreme were made before DC? Making of Xtreme a compilation of older maps, for the most part (if not the entirety of it?)
S: My memory is a bit muddled here. It's possible I made the truck for DC and then ported it to Xtreme, or vice versa. I know DC was the first game we worked on, with Robert and I working out of our apartments, before Sunstorm had offices. However, I also recall that we finished DC in the new Sunstorm office, because that's where I created the ending, and Robert combined the two floors of the submarine into one. But I also recall working on levels for Duke Extreme at home.
So here's what I think happened... When I first started working at Sunstorm, I was hired as a texture and sprite artist for DC. I did all of the new sprites and textures for DC, and I made the new weapons for Extreme. But at some point, I switched from being an artist to a level designer, and I began work on Extreme from home. But Robert was still working on DC from home. I believe I made all of the maps I made for Extreme in a few days out of my apartment, then we moved into the new offices, and there I think I must have worked on the submarine base, so I probably took the subway from Xtreme and used that as a starting point for the DC map, or I simply recreated my work on the truck.
Then we released DC, and Xtreme I believe was released later, with many of the maps being created by contract workers we never met. And while they worked on those, and Charlie? worked from home on the scripting, and Robert and I began work on Cryptic Passage.
C: Speaking of Xtreme, the (excellent) DM map Library has no sig and its author is unknown. Do you know who made it? You may be able to confirm whether or not it's yours at least?
S: It's not mine, and I don't know who made it. I don't know the names of any of the contractors they used for Xtreme. I think there were five people outside the company he was hiring to make those levels? Not sure.
C: The one thing that doesn't look like you in the Brown Water control room however is the pillar in the middle, which is VERY reminiscent of the RT's pillars from another Xtreme map, Dirge.
S: Yeah, Robert added some stuff to the start of Brown Water I believe. Oh, and another bit of trivia for you... I don't know if this is still in the beta map or not, but in the Pentagon, there's a hallway that ends where it's collapsed, and I believe you can see through a hole there to the rest of the hallway beyond. At one point I had hidden my signature in there, but Tony made me remove it for some reason. Robert was much more clever about hiding his signatures in his levels. I believe in the White House there was one secret room hidden in the bottom of an elevator shaft?
C: Was there plans to make the Pentagon more fleshed out than it indeed up being?
S: Nothing was really planned, per se. We were given almost complete freedom to build whatever we wanted, aside from the general theme of this is the pentagon level, and Duke will get there via the sewers. Now, did I personally plan to build out more of the Pentagon? Absolutely. But I ran out of time, and I didn't have any idea what the pentagon actually looked like inside, so I assumed it was just long halls with offices to either side, and that wouldn't make for a very good level, so I didn't build out more than that single office and a bathroom. I couldn't tell you what possessed me to have the exit be at the bottom of a fountain in the middle. If I'm not mistaken though the sub base comes after that level right? Maybe I figured all drains lead to the ocean... :D
C: Thanks again to take the time to answer and for the explanations on the development of DC and Xtreme and other things. I'm not sure that anyone knows you made the new weapons for Xtreme either, there are very little known credits for it.
S: Yep, I made those, They were probably some of the last art I made for Sunstorm. After that they hired on another artist and I went full time level design.

Mandoctober Day 11
Sorgan
Words: 1.5k
Pairing: DinDjarinxFemaleMandalorianReader
Summary: Reader catches up with Din and learns about some new changes in his life.
Warnings: mentions of jealousy and fighting, there isn’t really a whole lot in this chapter its fairly tame *shrugs*
Sorry this is a day late, I’ve been feeling a little burnt out with working every day this last week, and the stress of flying for my sisters wedding this weekend isn’t helping my mentality either.
~9ABY
Another clan successfully resupplied and a crisis averted. You were exhausted, it was more work than you thought it would be to keep Mandalorians from breaking out into civil war in these new blended clans. Why couldn’t they put aside their personal differences and come together as Mandalorians so that the Tribe could rebuild and take back their rightful place in the Galaxy.
With the Darksaber having been lost years ago, and no plan to get it back any time soon, all of the clans were struggling to not start petty fights with each other. Making your job harder.
Bo-Katan had asked her Nite Owls to do their best in keeping the clans supplied, and to trust her. She said she was putting together a team and a plan but she couldn’t share the details. She needed everyone to trust her and that she would bring the Darksaber home, even if it was the death of her.
As you sat in your cockpit, ready to put in coordinates for home to resupply your own ship, your comm pinged with an incoming voice transmission.
“Cyar’ika, it’s me. If you get this, I’m sending you coordinates to a planet I’m currently holed up on. I have some… developments, I need to tell you about. We’ll be waiting.”
A coded text message followed at the end for you to decrypt. It took less than a minute to decrypt and send to the navicomputer, and when the computer told you the name of the planet, your mind blanked. You had never heard of it before. Which was no small feat, considering Mandalorians had established secret bases on an astounding number of planets in different systems.
Pulling up the file from the Holonet, you discovered Sorgan was on the list of “uncharted planets” in the Galaxy. There was nothing on this planet. There was no significant import or export trade, there was no certified port, there weren’t even any heavily populated cities. How did this planet slip through the cracks? It would be perfect for a clan in hiding.
Your mind flashed back to the last words Din had spoken, “We’ll be waiting.” WE?! Who is this “we” he is speaking of? Other than you, Din had never really been overly friendly or one to take on traveling companions just for fun. Just what you wanted to think about on the hyperspace journey to Sorgan…
Once you arrived in system, you pulled up the frequency to track the Crest, hoping he still hadn’t discovered the tracker. But you couldn’t get a return ping. That was odd. Just one more mystery to solve, because you loved mysteries.
You decided to start in the most heavily populated area you could find, which wasn’t saying much. All the buildings were primitive, made from mud and smaller tree limbs and the people inside the huts were just as primitively dressed. You felt sorry for planets like this that lived without even the most basic of technological advances to make life a little easier.
You had opted for a less conspicuous disguise, leaving your beskar’gam on your ship, wearing simple trousers with a standard issue blaster strapped to your thigh, standard boots with your vibroknife tucked into the side, an ordinary shirt and vest with pockets for all your hidden detonators and spare power packs, and a scarf to hide your face. You had also painted your face with strategic tattoos to help hide your real identity since you had taken your helmet off.
When you walked into the cantina, everyone stopped to stare at the new stranger for a while. Apparently they didn’t get many outsiders. Good thing I didn’t walk in here in full beskar’gam everyone would definitely remember that. And then I’d be in even more trouble. Picking a table in the corner where you could see the entrance, you sat down and prepared to wait and see if you could overhear any useful information. You ordered food and drink from a chatty waitress, and settled in to wait.
Surprisingly, it didn’t take long. No sooner had you finished eating when this shiny silver, walking weapon walked through the door. He seemed familiar to you, but you couldn’t figure out what it was. He walked closer, and you saw that it was the same blaster Din preferred to carry, his weapons belt was set and stocked the way Din liked, even his bandolier was the same, complete with the small pouch for written sentimental messages above his left collarbone.
“Nice disguise.” Said a voice that sounded exactly like Din’s. He sat down in front of you, making himself comfy and acting like he owned the place.
Leaning forward to stare into the familiar helmet visor, you barely whispered, “Djarin?” The slight tilt of his helmet to the left told you that you had guessed right.
“Come on,” he stood up and offered you his hand. “I have some surprises for you.”
Once you walked out the door, you saw a repulsorsled waiting. It was loaded up with supplies, and this curious looking silver pod. Making yourself comfortable on a few crates next to Din, you settled in for the ride.
“So where did this shiney new set come from?” You asked Din.
“It’s a good thing we have a while before we get to the village…”
Din told you about how he had risen to be the top bounty hunter in his Guild. How he had been given a job directly from a Client, with a reward of beskar. After teaming up with a droid, “No way, you HATE droids!”, to take out the guards around the asset, Din discovered that the asset was in fact a child. He had to rebuild the Crest because Jawas had managed to break in and steal most of his parts, and when he turned the asset in to the Client, he had a change of heart. Children are to be protected at all cost in Mandalorian culture. Children are the future and without passing on traditions and armor the Mandalorians would cease to exist. He knew he wouldn’t be able to live with his decision of just turning over an innocent child for Maker knows what, so he went back and rescued the child from an Imperial safe house and was now on the run. He knew it would only be a matter of time before another hunter showed up to try and steal the Child from him.
Din entered a command on his vambrace, and the silver orb that had been floating next to you opened. And this small green thing stared into your soul with its dark brown eyes. “What is it?” You asked Din as you continued to stare at it.
“I don’t know. All I knew was that I couldn’t leave it to be a science experiment for the Empire.”
When you arrived at the village, you were surprised to see all the children come running out to greet you. It seemed like Din was a hero to the village, everyone just seemed to adore him and the green child.
After helping unload the supplies, Din showed you to where he and the child had been sleeping. “A week ago we helped run off a local band of raiders. Wasn’t anything too difficult, but you know how plans go. Sometimes they don’t always go exactly like you think.”
After dinner, you sat outside the hut with Din and watched all the children in the village playing together. Listening to their delighted laughs and cries of surprise and watching them chase each other around made you envious of their innocent little lives. And now you understood why Din had stepped up to help protect the village. Looking at the children, you knew you would have done the same thing.
“Have you thought about leaving the green one here?” You asked Din.
“If I knew he would be safe and well looked after, I could consider it. I know the life of a Mandalorian is one that I wouldn’t force upon anyone.”
A short while later, a beautiful woman with long dark hair and dark, expressive eyes came walking over with the child fast asleep in her arms. She passed him off to Din, who nodded his helmet at her in silent thanks. You could tell that there was some sort of connection between the two of them and you weren’t sure if you were feeling hurt, jealous, or proud. Hurt, because he had found someone else to keep his heart company in your absence, jealous because she was more beautiful than you, or proud because you realized she was a more than capable woman and could probably hold her own against you.
As Din turned to head into the barn, she gave a small smile and said, “Welcome to our village. I hope you enjoy your time here. We will be forever grateful to him for showing us how to defend our home. My name is Omera, by the way. I hope you have a pleasant evening. Goodnight.”
“Goodnight. And thank you, Omera.”
You spent the night curled up next to Din, your heart full after so many months apart. You took in all of the textures, smells, sounds, and tastes that were just uniquely Din. You knew you couldn’t stay for more than a couple days, but everyone needed time off with loved ones, and you intended to make the most of a few days with Din.
〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️
As always, thank you for taking the time to read my silly little story 💙💙

HayLou GT3 entry-level TWS headphones review
Regarding the choice of Bluetooth headsets, Mu Xi found that many bloggers will address consumer needs, such as good sound quality, good appearance, low latency, and long battery life to recommend the corresponding headset, and then recommend the corresponding headset based on the performance of existing products on the market. , Sound quality and other dimensions to recommend to everyone. However, there are some people around Muxi who demand that they can listen to songs and use them. In response to this demand, I am really embarrassed. After all, you want a headset with a good noise reduction effect. I can find the range by checking it online. After in-depth communication, their needs are actually able to meet basic daily needs!
Tumblr media
Today I would like to share with you the Haylou GT3 earphones. From the outside of the earphones, I have seen TOP earphones that are within a hundred dollars.
This headset has been received for three days. The main use scenarios are: subway, bus, home, office, canteen, these places basically cover the places where workers can go daily. The conclusion is that it can meet daily needs. What are the dimensions that can be satisfied? For example, there is no problem listening to music in a closed roaring environment like the subway, because you are basically used to this kind of sound after a long time on the subway. There is no sound leakage in the office and it will not affect others. It doesn’t feel uncomfortable to wear for a long time, and the operation of touch operation is very convenient to use.
Tumblr media
Simple configuration Simple configuration is mainly manifested in terms of function and parameters. In terms of performance configuration, this headset has no other selling points besides Bluetooth 5.0. There is no customization in function, no environmental monitoring, front active noise reduction, etc. The experience for the editor is that the wired headset cuts the cord. But because there is Bluetooth 5.0 to ensure a stable connection, the absence of front active noise reduction has no effect on daily use. Why do you recommend it so ordinary? Because the experience really feels natural, other cheap headphones may make you feel ear canal pain, allergies, and dizziness.
Tumblr media
Although the price of this headset is not high, but the appearance is good, the shape is pea, long rod design, although the whole is black, but a smooth bright line makes this headset a lot of smart, like a black swan, and The whole headset does not add any logo, lacks Huli's fancy design, and adds elegance and fashion. When wearing this headset, the clean black gloss improves the texture of the headset a lot.
Tumblr media
Small body and big energy If the Bluetooth headset has no electricity, there is such a thing that is useless and takes up space. Usually in order to improve battery life, manufacturers will choose to make the charging compartment larger, but the Haylou GT3's charging case is not large, and because there is no sharp angle, putting it in the pocket with the mobile phone will not feel crowded or scratched. Case. So how does this portable headset last? The headset weighs only 3.9g and has a capacity of 43mAh. It can be used for about 4 hours of talking. It is equipped with a C port that can be plugged in both front and back. With a 600mAh charging compartment, the overall battery can last for 24 hours. Therefore, Muxi is basically charged once every three days.
Tumblr media
Mu Xi said that although this headset does not have front active noise reduction, the main reason it can be used in the subway is that the headset has good sound insulation. Although the built-in earplugs are relatively large, they can be supported more comfortably because of their softness, and at the same time they can better isolate the sound. With this headset, even if the volume is turned on at a low level, you will not be able to hear what the other person is talking in the office. Muxi’s boss called me several times, but I didn’t respond.
Tumblr media
Attention to details Why do other cheap ones make people feel uncomfortable? Haylou GT3 does not seem to be very good at first glance, but why does this headset give people a good experience? The main reason is that Haylou GT3's details are very good. For example, in order to ensure the sound quality, a 7.2mm moving coil unit is used to ensure the reproduction of our music. From the appearance point of view, this headset can not find any gaps, which is why this headset supports IPX4 waterproof. The DSP intelligent noise reduction and voice assistant added in the call and intelligent entertainment aspect all reflect the intention of this headset in a limited range.
Tumblr media
While paying attention to details, the price is also conscientious. If the demand is just good-looking, it is a good choice to be able to use Haylou GT3 comfortably.

Exploring copy personalization via VR
Introduction
Hello, my name is Jen. Many of the current world are starting to take notice to the idea of Mario 64's personalization AI. Neither of these topics need introduction, You know what Super Mario 64 is and you know why you're here. I've been taking a recent interest into the study of how the game adapts over time to suit the player, and exactly how personal that personalization gets. I'm very familiar with the game, I know most of it's ins and outs, I've completed it multiple times on the original console.
And I can tell you yes, it is a fact.
Super Mario 64 is a personalized game. But it's not personalized in the way people think.
In most cases, I've found the personalization factor of the game is incredibly small, and it's more subtle than meets the eye. And it can only be achieved on original hardware (IE, the Nintendo 64, or an environment that perfectly simulates the Nintendo 64, on a composite monitor or TV), and, for our purposes it would ideally be with the original Japanese release (or as I call it, the J variant) rather than International (or as I call it, the ! variant). It doesn't make too much of a difference, but in the original release it's effects are more obvious, at least for English-speaking players or players with English as their first language.
For instance, an English-speaking player will have slightly negative or empty feelings throughout the game while playing the J Variant on original hardware, similar to those felt in Wet-Dry World in the international release. Likewise, non-English speaking players will feel the same negative aura playing an international copy. I haven't yet studied the relationship between the International and European copies or Japanese and European copies though, which could definitely be something to look into, these same emotional auras could very well carry over.
The reason it can only be achieved on original hardware is because personalization was outright removed from other releases of SM64. Starting with the Shindou release, all subsequent versions of Mario 64, such as the iQue and Wii Virtual Console release, as well as the Japanese, North American and European versions commonly circulated through emulation and rom websites, and consequently what most, if not all of SM64 Hacks, mods and ports are built off of, have personalization outright removed, or altered in such a way to be unnoticeable. I'm not sure if this would extend to SM64DS or not, but the games seems similar enough that cognative proccesses line up in a similar fashion. Something I have noticed in my research is that skeptics of the Personalization AI often come off the heels of having played Modern versions of SM64 rather than the original versions.
Although to what extent I can't be sure, it's entirely possible that playing these modified ports of SM64 could lead to differences in brain activity that affects the way personalization works, specifically to the extent that playing copies of SM64 without the original personalization factors intact leads to an 'immunity' of sorts to it. The learned responses from playing SM64 emulated rather than on it's original console are subtle, but they're enough to cause differences. Given the personalization AI in general stems from the subtle differences between players, it would only make sense these 'learned behaviors' would alter the game in such a way to give every player who plays on the original hardware after having played a modified port a shared experience, or at least with differences that are too subtle to be noticeable. This is what I'll call the "Surface SM64 Theory". So at least in my mind, copy personalization equates more to instilled emotions, feelings, and thought processes that are interpreted through subtle differences between inputs, than it does pure 'injection' (IE, new graphics, music, sound effects and textures being 'beta-ified'). Although injection is certainly a part of it, it's not grandiose, and the effects are rarely seen on video, if at all. Which brings me to why I'm here today.
I feel that, to experience copy personalization on a level that's intimate enough to not just be a ripple effect, and can be closely analyzed, the only solution is to give the personalization factor a more direct line into one's senses. And what's the best way to do that with tools that are already available to the common consumer? VR, along with some other tools.
By controlling the game as if I were Mario, rather than Mario being a proxy to player input, I can observe the game at a closer, more emotionally open level. With headphones I can experience the sounds at a closer level, and by being closer to the screen I can experience the game itself at a closer level. Makes sense, doesn't it?
Given the Surface SM64 Theory though, I should note that I have played other ports of SM64 though, and, like I said, know it's ins and outs quite well, I decided to break from the game for an extended period of time (about a month at the time of writing) before trying to conduct this experiment. Ideally we'd want someone who grew up with the original release and nothing else, or had never heard of the game at all, but, I'm not interested in using any human guinea pig except for myself. In this way I hope to approach the game with a fresh mindset, or at least a mindset fresh enough so that I could explore at least some of the personalization effects.
Before this break though, I got into contact with a few different mod authors (who, for the sake of privacy, won't disclose the names of, they didn't want much to do with this project to begin with. I think they thought I was crazy or something) who gave me the grace of helping me out. The VR setup in question uses a rom extracted straight from my copy Super Mario 64, which has been verified to be an original cart. This rom was extended, modified, then the new rom was flashed onto a player cart in a modified Nintendo 64, with the rom's mods adding support for a gyroscopic, first-person camera, environmentally accurate surround sound, and two VR controllers I can hold.
I hope that doing this hasn't tampered with too much of the personalization AI, I'm not sure what the authors did to the rom, and in retrospect I probably shouldn't have given them the benefit of the doubt just putting my safety into their hands when they obviously thought I was bananas and refused to let me share any information about them. But, I've gone about this the only way I knew how to, and I've poured too much time into this now to not do it. So, I guess this frontier will be one I explore blindly. So, over the course of however long it takes me to finish the game with 120 Stars and talk to Yoshi, I'll be logging my experiences.
The Experiment
8/7/2020 11:30AM - Stars Collected: 0
Getting used to the controls took quite a lot of time, although thankfully the gyroscopic camera seems to follow Mario as an object instead of his model's face, I can't imagine doing all those flips and turns with a gyroscopic camera.
Everything seems to be working ok so far though, nothing seems too out of the ordinary, of course I didn't really look outside very much before going in, but, we'll see where it goes from here.
8/7/2020 11:55AM - Stars Collected: 8 This may've been a bad idea. I feel fine. So far it's just been playing the game in close-up, with not a whole lot else going on. I'm still going to see it through to it's end, but I wouldn't be surprised if I don't report back on anything else for a while. It's just kind of going through the motions at this point. I have all of BoB's stars except for MwttS and the first secret slide star, I'm not going to even try to attempt the second one right now, I still need time to get used to this I think, and for some reason I've always struggled with that one in particular. I guess if there's one thing that feels off, it's that, ironically, everything ironically feels much more quiet, I don't know if it's me, but everything feels quieter. With quieter audio this game feels so much lonelier. Early 3D environments can seem so bland and barren without much context. I'm gonna go try to fight Bowser, hopefully this goes well.
8/7/2020 12:10 PM - Stars Collected: 8 I may have made a slight error in judgement. Bowser levels are not only harder than I though they'd be with the camera zoomed in so close, but fighting Bowser is nearly impossible. Even though the camera follows Mario as an object and not his model, that doesn't seem to translate to Bowser very well, because the camera spins. Oh boy, does it spin. It's making me motion sick trying to beat him. I usually don't even get motion sick, I've been playing video games all my life, and VR has never bothered me like this. Perhaps it's just the game though. In the meantime I think I won't bother with Bowser and I'll go do some other stars here in the Foyer, there's a lot to get done after all.
8/7/2020 12:46PM - Stars Collected: 15 I finally got the other slide star, after a bunch of tries. I've always struggled with that one in particular, but this time it was especially hard with the camera, you can't hardly see where you're going and making that blind jump is such a gamble. I was really happy to be done with it when I got there. And by really happy, I mean, seriously giddy. When I heard the twinkling and the star appeared I had this moment to myself where I just started giggling. It just felt so rewarding. Something about it just... got to me. I felt warm on the inside. I think I'm starting to like the game better this way, it's harder, but, it's rewarding. I almost wonder if doing it again would have the same effect. But, I don't have time for that, I have to go finish up WF and JRB
8/7/2020 1:12PM - Stars Collected: 17 Well, out of pure curiosity, I tried it. And it worked. Too well. I haven't been getting much done for the past 10 minutes. I've just been redoing the slide star. Why I'm stuck on it? I don't know. I have more progress to make, I know, but, something about it is just fun. But, really, that's what the game is about, isn't it? Having fun? Besides, I have all the time in the world to finish the game, surely a little indulgence can't hurt right? Maybe it just feels nice to have finally conquered that one star that frustrated me so much. Either way, I for sure am gonna go back and finish the foyer now. I'm wasting time.
8/7/2020 2:36PM - Stars Collected: 17 God damn it. Why am I so stuck on this one mission? It's a really unremarkable star in the long run of things, it's a footnote. It's just one star. It's just one star. Why is it so much fun? It's so stupid, I feel like an addict going back to it over and over again. But, there's such a rush that comes with it. It's like a rollercoaster, the thrill, the anticipation of it all. And it has such a nice payoff, collecting a star feels so nice in this game. Screw personalization, maybe I should just shoot for the record on this star, surely there's a glitchless record for it somewhere.
8/7/2020 3:01PM - Stars Collected: 17 Still no progress. Been having a good time though. I think I should take a break soon though, I caught myself drooling a little bit after getting the star again.
8/7/2020 3:25PM - Stars Collected: 17 Yeah I need to take a break soon. This is extremely captivating, but, I caught myself drooling on myself again, and, I think I'm freaking my housemates out by giggling so much. But, I can't help it! It's such a rush! This is the truest essence of a video game I've felt in so long, I'm starting to feel nostalgic. I've always liked the Slider music more than most, and there's so many questions clawing at my mind. Like, what are the pillars there for? Who put them there? Why are they tangible? I always did like them. I wonder if they were meant to be in other levels before getting removed.
8/7/2020 5:16PM - Stars Collected: 17 Ok, I guess the road ends here for now. Someone kicked me off. Probably better that way too. I was in the zone playing the star again but, apparently I must've gotten really into it, because, I didn't hear myself, but apparently I was laughing, a lot. Very loudly. Eventually I guess I pissed one of my roommates off, they came and took off the headset and told me to go take a shower and stop doing this. I don't really want to do that, I kinda just wanna keep researching, but... I'm not too upset about it though, I mean, after all I can always just come back to this later. I mean, if this one star has captivated me so much, what'll the rest of the game be like? I'll come back tomorrow.
8/8/2020 9:50AM - Stars Collected: 17 I had a dream last night. About the slide. I think I need another day to take a break from this, the more I think about it, the more it's starting to bother me. What was my deal there? Why did I start laughing. Why did I enjoy this so much? And why do I still have all these questions about it? It's just one star. I need to get to the rest of the game and stop thinking about this.
8/9/2020 5:30PM - Stars Collected: 17 I can't stop thinking about it. I need to do it again. Just one more time. Then I can do the rest of the game. But I need to put this to bed.
8/9/2020 5:45PM - Stars Collected: 17 It happened again. I did it once, and it turned into another time. And another, and another. I started laughing again. I can't help it. I don't even know it's happening. But it is. It is. And I love it. It makes me sad that it's annoying people, but I can't help it. It's just... so much fun. So much fun. So much. So much. So much.
8/9/2020 7:31PM I shouldn't even bother with the star count. I got down to 13 seconds and I lost it. I cant' believe it. It's amazing. I was so happy. 13 seconds oh my god, I don't even know what the record is but it's gotta be close!
8/9/2020 10:00PM It's too much fun. I stopped about 10 minutes ago but, I soiled myself playing the game. I was too into it, I must not have noticed. What's wrong with me? Why am i like this? i feel like i cant tell anyone about this, they wouldn't understand. they wouldn't get it. they would just tell me to stop. i cant stop. i can't its serious now. this is serious. i have to keep going i have to i have to. but i cant anymore i need to go to bed i need to stop i need to sotp i need
8/9/2020 10:20PM im starting to realize that... this is personalized. this must be what people mean as in, the game appeals to you itself. it's horrific, i hate it i hate thinking about it. i don't even know what the game's doing to make me think this. Why. how. why is it like this? And why do i keep coming back. I hate doing it. I can't stop doing it but I hate doing it. It's an addiction it's a virus it's eating away at me like a parasite. I need to go to bed.
8/10/2020 3:28AM i can't sleep
