Help Me Pay for Summer Tuition

Boozhoo! Aaniin! (Hello) I am an Indigenous Student studying my traditional language in an M.A. program. I hope to create free resources guided toward self-learning for many communities and individuals to use.

Despite taking no classes in the summer, my institution requires M.A. students to pay summer tuition, which is a whooping 3k! This was quite a surprise to me. I do have student-loans, but their funding does not cover summer tuition. I also have a job, but on top of rent and expenses, it's hard to make enough. I am posting here to ask for help. Any donation helps, no matter how small, will greatly help me. I know I am literally one of tens of thousands of students who ask for charity, and my cause is no more important than theirs. I just hope that there are some people out there who have a little extra to spare, and who resonate with my struggle.

Today I got a paper back and despite the good grade, I’m really bummed out because I expected a little more. Regardless, I finished an essay I had due tomorrow, read a little of my current read, and meal prepped for the rest of the week! It was a really decent day 🩷

My first semester of grad school is in the books.

Over the last 3.5 months I’ve written 70 pages, read 16 books, not including the hundreds of poems (or personal reading), and countless articles/essays.

This was tough as hell. Probably the hardest thing I’ve done (academically, at least) but just a few months into the program I can already see that I’m a better reader, a better writer, and more insightful critic.

I will absolutely not be taking a full load from here on—it’s all fun and games until you have three 15 pages papers dude within 4 days of each other—but I’m super coming into my own here.

10/10, would grad school again.

It has been a hot minute since I've been on this blog and a lot has happened.

First off, I have graduated from my undergraduate degree in history with a first. Something I never in a million years thought I'd be able to manage.

After a summer of working hard at a seasonal attraction to build up some cash, I'm now preparing to start a masters course in museum studies and do want to get back to this account to get myself back into studying after a summer of doing anything but.

Here's to hoping that my masters is another step closer to working in a museum one day!

Little reintroduction to my account!! ✨️

I've revamped my name and bio, and I'm planning on using this account again more to help me stay motivated with my MA!

I'm Emma, I'm 21 and I'm from the north west of England. I graduated in July with a first in my undergraduate degree in English Lit and Language and in September I'll be starting my masters degree in 19th Century Studies (aka literature with a bit of history chucked in for good measure!)

I have a bookstagram/studygram of the same name, if anyone who sees this fancies a follow! I'm a Jane Austen obsessed nerd, and I can't wait to study the 19th century in loads more detail. I'm halfway through A Tale of Two Cities for my preliminary uni reading, and I'm aiming to reread Mansfield Park again soon for one of my modules also. I basically lived in the library last year, but I'm living back home this year so it'll be a bit of a change.

I'm aiming to post notes, books and everything else study and uni related on here, and I'd love to be able to chat to some other postgrad/grad students - especially as my goal is to do a PhD and end up in academia in the future. I'm also interested in working in heritage if PhD plans go awry but we shall see what the future brings!

Little bit about me:

When I'm not studying I love reading for fun (especially historical fiction, romance or fantasy/sci-fi!)

I also love playing games like Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing! Also just onto season 3 of Stranger Things and I love it!

I'm a big fan of pasta and cheesy chips, and I'm partial to some Toblerone chocolate as well 😂

One day I'd love to live in Bath, and I'd also love to run my own bookshop one day too! I've visited Bath before for the Austen festival (yes I went in period costume, I'm *that* type of girl 😂) and it's absolutely gorgeous!!

MA goals:

I'd love to achieve at least 65% in my masters, as that's what the majority of the PhD courses I've looked at seem to want! Anything more would be a big bonus hehe.

I'd like to apply for the Graduate Teaching Assistant role at my uni which is a funded PhD with teaching opportunities. Need to figure out a PhD idea first lol.

I'd like to visit Chawton House in Hampshire to do some Austen/19thC period research for my MA dissertation and I'm hoping to apply to my university's fund for that opportunity.

Live the romantic academia dream and go visit some cool old libraries close to where I live to *spice* my view up 😂

Actually the worst thing to come out of the new pjo series is people deciding Annabeth's dad was 19-22 when he was given her by Athena (and therefore "just a kid at the time" so it's not his fault, he was in debt and couldn't afford it) He was in the middle of/nearly finished with his PhD, the Chase family was rich and he was probably a legacy (college not demigod wise) so no, he was just a shit dad. And she was also like 7 when she ran away and he was already married to her stepmom who was half the problem. Characters can be 30+ actually it's okay I promise

I've found my Lagoona, my definitive Lagoona! Lagoonafire and freshwater/13 wishes have clicked with me from the start.

but actual Lagoona Blue? I've had dozens in hand and almost kept Picture day or Black carpet. I thought it might be signature Lagoona, I liked her the best.

I've been looking at exchange student Lagoona's for a while but many had eyes too low or too high, worse wonk than this one.

The moment she was in hand I knew she was a keeper. And once I got sig out, I think it's the more forward facing eyes and different shape: less fishy, bigger eye shines: she's actually making eye contact with both at once LOL.

The icing on the cake is that she's made in Indonesia and won't require glue treatment.

Better photos on my camera, to be edited later, maybe tomorrow.

I'm starting to feel a bit better from the flu but don't look like it. Huge purple eyewells and swollen eye bags. I've been checking the oxymetre, that's fine so it's probably blood pressure and general exhaustion *greek chorus yells well duh, what an understatement *

What are your opinions on chads injuries? I feel like since he had injuries that he barely survived from he would have problems with them in the future

I WROTE A HUGE AND PERFECT RESPONSE AND LOST EVERYTHING BECAUSE I'M A DUMBASS SO I'M HAVING TO REWRITE AND IM SO SAD BUT i literally jumped from my bed and ran to the computer so i could write this better because i do have a few thoughts and i wanna comment on it. so

chad is a bit more complicated than tara in the sense that he's got a lot more injuries in places that aren't particularly certain as tara's, so the outcome might depend on a few aspects, such as where exactly the knife hit.

as much as i was baffled by the fact he survived after the amount of stabbing he's got in scream 6, it's not uncommon for victims to survive said wounds even when they've got hit multiple times; take the girl who survived the slenderman stabbing, for example, who was still a child and could still crawl out and ask for help. she's alive, well, and doesn't seem to have any permanent after-effects to her injuries.

when we were analyzing tara's case, my bestie @oooh-the-horrors left a list of all of chad's injuries on my inbox and i still got them here, which will come in handy now :3

in scream V, i don't think any of his injuries led to any major outcomes, honestly. i mean, he probably went through surgery for the ones he's got on his stomach and had to go through rehabilitation after said surgery so he could get back on his feet and his body could function properly again, but nothing that could make him lose his intestinal function completely or not. he got it stitched back together and lived his life just fine after that. stab wounds usually have a better prognosis than gunshots, as well :3

the shoulder case isn't concerning as well because there aren't many areas that could have severe damage, seeing it isn't an area with many nerves that could be hit. from where it got hit, it probably didn't hit any tendons, as well, which would be the real problem in this case

and the stab in the back, both in 5 and 6, are super tricky. we've seen cases of characters being stabbed on the back in scream and having permanent consequences coming from it, aka dewey, but dewey's case just irks me and leaves a kinda bitter taste. i don't see, anatomically wise, how the place he got stabbed would lead to a limp; if the knife hit the spine, it would probably cause loss of movement in the entirety of the lower part of his body, not simply that limp? and if the knife hit the middle in chad's case, it could be similar, but i also don't believe it hit the middle for him. anyway, i'm sorry i know this isn't about dewey but his injury confuses me and i had to say this while i got the chance 😭

for scream 6 in particular, while it baffled me that he did survive that amount of stab wounds, it's entirely possible for someone to survive multiple injuries even when they hit organs and stuff. an example is the girl who survived the slenderman stabbing, she's alive and doesn't seem to have any permanent injuries, and she was much younger and more frail than chad when she got attacked. anyway.

the trickiest one of his injuries would be the stab in his left clavicula, particularly if it hit the subclavian artery. i'm sure it isn't the case, but considering it hit the artery and judging by the time he was left there bleeding before help came, chad would probably lose an arm lmao the amount of blood he lost would lead to tissue death aaaand gangrena. so that would be preeeetty tricky to treat.

arteries can be stitched back together just fine, since it's not permanent like a nerve damage, so... i'm sure his arm is just fine though!

he could probably have multiple injuries in multiple organs and i'm sure it will take him several months to recover, but he got stabbed so many times you lose count of where and what the knife must've possibly hit 😭😭😭😭 so he basically went through multiple surgeries for his injuries as well, but will probably recover just fine after rehabilitation/physical therapy.

it would be very interesting, though, if it didn't take many time timeline-wise between scream 6 and 7 and he was still recovering. chad's physically the strongest and biggest one between all of them and with that i'm sure he feels the need to protect his friends, but he wouldn't be able to when he's still fragile and treating the wounds left from the bailey family in scream VI. it would make him have to find other ways to help - or lead to some very interesting sequences seeing him try to fight while having fresh wounds.

overall, as much as he's probably like spongebob after all of the hits, i'm sure he'll turn out fine :3
