I Have OCD, Here are Some Things I Use to Manage my Symptoms.
Obsessive and Intrusive Thoughts: Play your favorite song in your head, or hum it out loud. Draw or write out what you’re thinking to externalize and process it. Anything in general to distract you can help. Something I’ve found that works for me is prayer. I’m not sure how prayer and other religions work fully, but if you can, do. It helps.
Compulsions: Something I’ve found that helps me is to let myself have the little things, like tracing a picture frame with my finger in a specific way. That way, I still have done something to fulfill my compulsions without, like, shattering my bedroom window or something.

Welcome to Yellow September! I wish to you a great month with love, empathy, courage, kindness, and compassion, too. Do not forget take care yourself, so this is important to us. Sometimes, we do not remember of little details in our bodies, but that is about our mental health. Also, we should help another person that it is not well. Society must help the next, mainly if he or she cannot speak with a psychologist or going to a hospital. Everyone needs to be doing anything in the world every day because we cannot fail.

Autistic revelation about „skills“:
For more than 10 years I‘ve been told that skills like eating spicy food or snatching a rubber band against my wrist will help me in high stress situations. My concerns regarding the intensity of the skills being counterproductive where bashed. My old therapist tried to tell me, that that‘s what the skills were supposed to do. That it‘d help me get back to reality.
But just now in my last session with a therapist specializing in autism, I learned that „of course it makes sense that high sense skills will not help if your stress comes from sensual overstimulation“
I also learned that things that use the brain (like sudoku) are also considered skills. Watching animals and petting them or in my case a plush animal are also considered skills.
I don‘t have to use skills that don‘t work for me just because they work for others!
(This only highlights the fact that I need a dog)

October 16, 2020 - "You Saved Me"
"You saved me"
The words he mumbled as tears streamed down his face. All I could do was hold him tightly. I made a promise, "everything will be okay."
I will truly never know what they did to you How the hurt ripped right through you like a runaway train
How it pulsated through your chest like a bolt of lightening, decimating almost every ounce of your being. I will never know the darkest corners of the earth where you found brief solace - trapped beneath the avalanche of white; the hideaway to numb your pain.
The high made you feel your lowest of lows - during the comedown you found yourself gasping for air. Yet somehow, you stumbled your way back in to the sunlight, you stayed.
You opened your eyes long enough to see your last glimmer of hope, it called for you by my name.
I closed my eyes and wished for your hurt to drift away, for that hurt to instead become enshrined within my soul; you don't need to hurt anymore. I'm here now.
