Autopsy of a gay lie: the Wikipedia trail

For starters, sorry for the length and numerous screencaps. It is an investigation, after all and these are sorely needed.

Never underestimate the conjugated power of Internet, a Sunday afternoon and the lightbulb moment that can happen while baking something, because you know, people have also to reward themselves at some point.

I might have fucked up my foolproof Lemon Squares recipe, but I regret nothing. It took me three hours I could have gratefully used to finish that spirits post, but this is too damn good not to share.

Remember Meow Kabob's cross my heart and hope to die pinky swear she found confirmation of Data Lounge's allegations on Wikipedia, out of all places? How she regularly unburies that infamous screenshot listing S under the Wiki "Gay Actors" category? How she told us, filthy and uneducated shipper mob, over and over again, that story about STARZ people scouring the Internet far and wide and scrubbing any gay reference related to S, as soon or shortly after he was cast as JAMMF?

I can confidently prove now Lincoln's perennial truths I quoted above apply to this situation.

I was just pouring my lemon juice, eggs, flour and sugar mix over the hot and nutty shortbread when I stopped in my tracks: 'wait a second, isn't Wikipedia an open source project? BUT OF COURSE IT IS, SILLY COW - yes, I very often talk to myself like that. RUN. NOW. I HAVE TO KNOW.'

Sure enough, like death and taxes, the full edit list of S's Wikipedia page was there for everyone to see:

This is how Sam's Wikipedia odissey started, on November 11th 2007, when he was the complete underdog:

That is, to say the least, a troubling coincidence.

I do not imply anything, I have no wish to attack anyone. All I am saying, is that particular argument, which this user is shouting anytime she is prompted to, had a very short online lifespan. How could an American woman, who appeared in this fandom shortly afterwards, have known about changes operated for five days only, by an unknown user, on the open source webpage of a B-listed British actor?

I have only one question, Your Honor:

WHY?

I rest my case.

Canonical Batfamily Birthdays

Here are all the birthdates I know of that are canon somewhere in DC, with a preference for the main comics continuities. I have included exact sources and image references when possible. I am not including character introduction dates, just actual birthdays.

If you find any other sources for Batfamily birthdays, please do share!

A moment of silence for Batfamily characters who don’t have canonical birthdays yet, so far as I know. This includes Damian Wayne, Stephanie Brown, Duke Thomas, and more. :(

Summary

Source images will be further down, but here’s an overview in roughly age order (I’m not sure of Kate vs Selina’s ages) with the dates the birthdays were introduced and used:

Tim Drake: July 19th (from 2003)

Jason Todd: August 16th (from 2004)

Cassandra Cain: January 26th (from 2002)

Helena Bertinelli: February 14th (in the Batman: The Brave and the Bold universe, from 2010)

Helena Wayne: September 7th (from 1984), potentially October 20th or the 22nd of unknown month or maybe October 22 or maybe Feb 28th (all the New 52 on passports from 2011-2012). These could also be New 52 Helena Bertinelli’s birthdays or nobody’s birthdays. who even knows.

Note: in this post when I say “main comics continuity(s)/universe” I’m referring to anything that’s been a “home” continuity for the comics at some point. For example, pre-Crisis Earth-2, Earth-1/New Earth, and Earth-0/Prime Earth, as opposed to Elseworlds or DCEU earths that are still part of the broader DC multiverse but have never been the primary continuity of the comics.

Tim Drake

Tim has only been given one canon birthday. He turned 16 on July 19th in Robin Vol. 2 #116 (cover date Sep 2003).

Jason Todd

Jason turned 18 on August 16th in Detective Comics #790 (March 2004). This is his only canon birthday.

In post-Crisis/preboot (1986-2011) continuity, there was a gap of six months between when Jason died and when he was resurrected (Batman Annual 25). Jason died April 27th according to his death certificates in Batman Annual 25 and Batman Files 2011, so he would’ve resurrected near late October.

So, it could be that post-resurrection Jason is biologically 6 months younger than he chronologically should be. But honestly, do we even really know what multiverse-breaking resurrection punches and then a Lazarus Pit on top of that do to someone’s body??? Either way it’s just much more simple to just use his chronological age.

Cassandra Cain

Much like Tim and Jason, Cass has only ever been given one birthdate: January 26th from Batgirl Vol. 1 #33. With that birthday, she turned 18 in Batgirl Vol. 1 #37.

When Jan 26th actually comes, Bruce suggests David Cain could’ve lied about it, but Cass denies that idea and continues to treat the day as her birthday.

Why it's likely her real birthday: Bruce initially believes Cain must’ve lied because he doesn’t think Cain could’ve known her birthday. However, we later learn Cain had lied about her origins and was actually her biological father. Batgirl v1 #62 and #73 show he was there for her birth and could absolutely know the date.

On top of that, in Batgirl #37 Cass remembers celebrating her birthday with him as a child, so he did seem to actually keep track of it. I honestly don’t see any reason to believe he’d lie (Bruce is just a jealous spoilsport).

Helena Bertinelli + Wayne

I’m combining them here because the New 52 gives me a headache.

Helena Bertinelli celebrated her birthday on February 14th in a spin-off comic from the animated Batman: The Brave and the Bold series. This is obviously not part of regular comics continuity and the characters differ from the usual comics in many ways. And yet, for reasons that will soon be clear, it’s my favorite for actually being about Helena Bertinelli the Huntress and for not being an utter mess.

In a character profile at the end of Infinity Inc. #7 (Oct 1984), Helena Wayne’s birthday was September 7th, 1959. Calculating back from October 1984, that would make her 25 at the time.

During the New 52, Helena Bertinelli was initially portrayed as a long-dead (secretly alive but don’t worry about it) mobster’s daughter and replaced by Earth-2’s Helena Wayne who got stranded on Prime Earth. This H. Wayne stole H. Bertinelli’s identity in the form of several forged passports and IDs, which had hints toward birthdates. The question is, can we take any of those birthdates seriously, and if so, which birthdates and for which character? (Cue my headache.)

Skip ahead to Dick if overthinking fake passports sounds boring.

When comparing to a real Italian passport, the date on H. Wayne’s fake Italian passport appears to be a birthdate. Note that the fake name is Carol Bertinelli, not Helena. H. Wayne said her IDs were inspired by H. Bertinelli but clearly she’s taking liberties for the IDs so that’s a point toward these being useless for H. Bertinelli birthdays.

Huntress Vol. 3 #1 (Dec 2011)

I don’t recognize the month abbreviation as a real abbreviation, but from the visible letter O I’m going to assume it means October. If it is, then the date is 20 October 1985. Sidenote: a 1985 birthdate during 2011 could put her age at about 26, which is actually quite close to how old she could’ve been based on pre-Flashpoint! 1985 has been given as Helena Wayne’s death year before, so it’s an interesting choice of a birth year for her. (Thanks to DC’s sliding timescale, though, birth years don’t actually mean anything in the comics.)

They don’t show her complete US passport, but I can see a “22” in line where the day of the month should be for her birthdate. This already contradicts the previous passport. This one uses Helena Bertinelli’s actual name, though–does that make it more relevant than the Carol one or this all still ridiculous because of the discrepancies?

Worlds’ Finest Vol. 1 #1 (Jul 2012)

We can try to glean the US passport birth month from the passport number at the bottom. The first two digits (“12” here) indicate the agency that issued the passport. 12 means the Honolulu agency. Right after “USA” is supposed to be the birthdate plus an extra number, in the order of year/month/day with the year being the last two digits of a year. Here we encounter another problem. It says 810228. This would imply her birthdate is 1981/02/28. That’s February 28, 1981. Since the earlier line indicated her birthday fell on a 22nd, this already contradicts itself.

However, I’d bet comic writers and artists aren’t always well versed in passport numbers (it’s already a stretch for me to bother checking it…). If they put the extra digit before the birthdate instead after, and the date is formatted month/day/year (the most common format in American English, so probably their first instinct), then we can drop the first 8 and it’s 10/22/8[?] with the last digit unknown. This would put her birthday as October 22, sometime in the 1980s. The 22 matches the earlier line, the October might match the previous passport if that really did say October (but contradicts the 20th), and the 1980s year could be 1985 to match the Italian passport.

At the end of the day I’m personally just going to let Helena Bertinelli be a Valentine’s born baby and call it a day, unless/until she gets a better one in the comics. For Helena Wayne I’d easily pick September 7th.

(My question is: did they give the crossbow vigilante a Valentine’s birthday as a Cupid joke??)

Dick Grayson

Dick has probably had the most birthdays of everyone (unless Bruce has more I don’t know about). All of them have their drawbacks.

In a main comics continuity, his most popular and most recent is “the first day of spring” so probably March 20th. This comes from Robin Annual 4 when his mom says she calls him Robin because he was born on the first day of spring. That presents some problems since there are other explanations given for the origin of “Robin,” including that his mom said he was “always bobbin’ along” (Dark Victory #12, page 17) or the original inspiration of Robin Hood (Detective Comics #38, p3).

Before that, in Secret Origins Vol. 2 #50 (Aug 1990), Marv Wolfman wrote a version of Dick’s origins where Dick turned 10 a week before his parents died on Halloween. That would make his birthday October ~24th (presuming that “a week” before Halloween literally means 7 days here).

The first drawback of the October birthday is that it’s tied to Dick being 10 when his parents die on Halloween. Dick’s age and the date his parents die change a lot depending on the writer (Nightwing Vol. 1 #1 says his parents died June 27th, Dark Victory #8-9 says May, etc.). The second drawback is that few people remember this version of his birthday even exists.

Dick’s birthday is November 11th in Super DC Calendar 1976. Note: Despite being a non-diegetic calendar from almost 50 years ago, this source remains well known and used among comic enthusiasts (including those working at DC). Generally, I would say it should mainly apply just to pre-Crisis continuity, but it is also useful for characters that haven’t gotten updated birthdays ever since (like Roy Harper, Barbara Gordon, or Selina Kyle, for example).

Sidenote: Since Damian doesn’t have a canon birthday, November 11th is favorite to steal for my own fan canon Damian birthday. Dick has plenty birthdays to share and I think it’s cute. @ DC, give Damian and Steph birthdays, they’ve been birthday-less for decades!

Indeed, DC writer Tim Sheridan and editor Mike Cotton debated whether Dick’s birthday was in March or November. They favored March 20th and wrote a birthday scene in Teen Titans Academy #1 (published March 23rd, 2021). The publishing time near Dick’s birthday was intentional, though the date isn’t mentioned within the comic itself.

The above birthdays were all meant to apply to a main comics continuity at some point. However, Earth-16, better known as the animated Young Justice universe (therefore outside of main comics continuity), says YJ Dick’s birthday is December 1st.

Unlike Helena Bertinelli, Dick has plenty of comics birthdays to choose from, so personally I’ll only count Dec 1st as being the birthday for YJ animated/Earth-16 Dick Grayson until or unless it’s ever mentioned to apply to main comics continuity.

Barbara Gordon

Super DC Calendar 1976 says Barbara’s birthday is September 23rd.

Since then, the only time I recall her birthdate hinted at is in Secret Origins #20 when her adoptive mom says her birthday is in the fall. This could support her birthday being September 23rd.

Although she has celebrated her birthday on panel since then (the end of Nightwing Vol. 2 #153), she hasn’t been given any other actual birthdate. So I’ll keep September 23rd and call it a day.

Selina Kyle

Super DC Calendar 1976 says Selina’s birthday is March 14th. Once again, although it hasn’t been mentioned within a comic, it’s stuck around in popular consciousness (see: Catwoman actress Zoë Kravitz wishing Selina a happy birthday on March 14th).

Selina celebrated a birthday on panel in Catwoman (2002) #37 but the date was never mentioned. I don’t know of any other reference to her birthday, but my reading of Selina is thus far more sparse than my reading of the others.

Kate Kane

Kate’s birthday options all come from outside of the comics themselves.

In “An Un-Birthday Present,” season 1 episode 11 of Batwoman, a parallel version of her twin Beth had a driver’s license showing her date of birth as January 26, 1990. She and Kate later celebrated their birthdays on an episode aired Jan 26th, 2020. I don’t keep up with live action DC shows so I unfortunately can’t offer a screenshot (if anyone has one or the timestamp, please let me know!).

(I kinda wonder if somebody looked up Batwoman’s birthday for these episodes, saw Batgirl’s (Cass’s) birthday, and just ran with it. Batwoman and a Batgirl sharing a birthday is just. Ughhh.)

In 2012, one of her comic writers tweeted to choose a random date for her birthday and picked March 21st, which so far as I know has never been used as her birthday in comics.

Bruce Wayne

Bruce’s most popular birthday is February 19th, but his most recent one is October 7th from the digital-only comic Legends of the Dark Knight. I believe that’s the only time October 7th has been referenced, but I’ve heard the animated show The Batman said his birthday was in October (can’t confirm, haven’t watched it recently).

Still, even associates of DC seem to remember his February 19th birthday better. In February 2023, Warner Bro’s Gotham Knights game did a sale for Bruce’s birthday. I’ve also heard the birthday was used in the Gotham TV show, but again, I don’t watch much live action DC shows.

The February 19th birthday appears to come from the 70s and 80s. It’s his birthday in the Super DC Calendar 1976, and in Batman Family Vol. 1 #11: “Suprise, Suprise!” (May 1977). Bob Rozakis (known as DC’s “Answer Man”) said Feb 19th was Bruce’s birthday in the letter column of Detective Comics #494 (Sep 1980).

Way back in the 40s, his birthday was in April, possibly April 7th. During a birthstone murder mystery, Bruce says his birthstone is a diamond, which is traditionally the April birthstone.

World’s Finest Comics #33/6 (Mar-Apr 1948): “The 5 Jewels of Doom!”

Star Spangled Comics #91 (Apr 1949) might imply the exact date was April 7th but we’d have to assume the party is on his birthday and that “this month” refers to the publishing month of April. I believe this is where people get the April 7th birthday when they bring it up.

Early April also shines in Batman: Year One where it shows Bruce’s first night out as Batman being either the night of April 6th or the early morning of April 7th (Batman #405). So although the April Bruce birthday hasn’t been used in decades, it’s still a Batman birthday in a way.

I have also heard people say Frank Miller considered Bruce’s birthday to be in November. However, I have yet to find an original source of him saying that, and honestly (just like the “March 21st” birthday for Kate) if he never used it in any canon material I don’t put much weight in that.

Jim Gordon

The only birthday I’ve ever seen for Jim is January 5th from Super DC Calendar 1976.

Alfred’s birthday in Super DC Calendar 1976 is April 8th.

In the Injustice: Gods Among Us universe (an alternate reality where the video game of the same name is set in), they show Alfred’s birth certificate, where it says his birthday is August 16th, 1943.

Maybe you’ll notice that August 16th is Jason’s birthday. A little funny considering the issue features Alfred refusing to share his birthday only for us to learn it’s the same date as Jason’s. Still, annoying. There are so many days in the year! Stop choosing the same ones!

This Alfred birthdate runs into a similar problem Helena’s birthdates did: it’s not part of main comics canon, it’s an alternate universe, so it may not be applicable to the main comics universe.

Note: if we calculate that 1943 birth year from Jun 2016 when the comic was published, that’d make Alfred 72 soon to be 73. Does that mean anything in canon? Probably not, but oh well. Also...token British character born by Windsor Castle? …of course.

Personally, I would rather go with the April 8th birthday than the Injustice one, since Injustice is an alternate universe. Also, outside of the humor of it, the idea of Alfred and Jason sharing a birthday is a bit too much for me. Still, it’s up to people’s own cherry picking.

Collected Information about the Bangkok Concerts

This is a post collecting information and sources about the concerts held by the Zhang Sanjian scam gang on May 10th and 11th. I will keep this updated as more information comes out. Please let me know if you have any questions, corrections, or additions.

Lead-Up

The earliest account to promote the concert was a planted fan trying to collect information from other fans in group chats, not an “official account”. This was on April 10th, only a month prior to the day the concert would be held. Accounts officially associated with the scam would not start promotions until April 20th.

Someone who contacted the venue on April 20th was told that the hall had been booked for 05-11 but that the venue could not disclose who it was for.

On April 22nd, the Instagram made a post announcing the ticket sales using a promotional photo from 2021 that had been made for the concert the real Zhang Zhehan had been planning prior to 813. This post did not include a link for purchasing; including links to purchases increases the chance of Instagram checking an account for fraud activity.

The production company for the concert is partnered with CAPA.

Seat prices went up to 16,000 baht ($465 USD / 3200 RMB) and went on sale on April 22nd. As a comparative, the BTS member Suga held a concert with VIP tickets pricing at 6200 baht.

Within hours, scam believers were saying that tickets had sold out, but on the actual purchasing site they were instead listed as not available (ie. reserved for sale by scalpers). On May 3rd, these reserved tickets that had not been sold were made available again with less than half sold.

On April 23rd, it was announced via the Instagram that an additional concert would be held on 05-10 due to “popularity”. (As I write this, I realize that it’s odd for them to book 05-10 rather than 05-12 since it means those first comers who bought tickets for 05-11 would not get to be the first ones to see “him”.) Tickets for this became available the following day and “sold out” within ten minutes only to become available again; it’s likely this was just a glitch.

On April 24th, a promotional video was posted for the concert using only footage from 2021 (same context as mentioned above).

Some tickets had been available as a “tour package” through a company that had a history of scamming customers. On April 26th, the tour package’s name was changed then deleted from the company’s website. On April 30th, the Taobao shop selling these packages was closed without refunds and over 400 people who had made purchases had their information leaked. Some people who purchased these packages were later left stranded at the airport for hours when they arrived.

On May 5th, the Weibo Supertopic used by scam believers, which had been filled with people reselling tickets and encouraging others to fake information for travel visas, was deleted. The following day, “official” accounts directed users to a new Supertopic that was created less than 15 minutes after the previous one disappeared despite it taking 1-3 days for Supertopics to be approved. This new Supertopic was made private on May 9th then deleted as well on May 10th.

On May 6th, photos were posted to the Instagram of “Zhang Zhehan” in what appeared to be Thailand. The following day several photos and a video were spread of “chance encounters”, originating from accounts that did not belong to fans.

The scam gang requested that people who had bought VIP tickets provide their home addresses so they could be sent tshirts and light sticks, four days prior to the first concert date. Have fun getting doxxed, I guess.

On May 8th, a new song was released to streaming sites by the scam gang despite it being only two days before the first concert. As a comparative, for his mini-concert to promote his Another Me EP in October 2020, Zhang Zhehan released only two of the three songs for streaming prior to the concert, leaving the third song 不说 to be debuted at the concert before releasing for streaming.

On May 9th, several photos and a video were posted by paparazzi of the venue being set up. It was noted that workers present in these photos were fully dressed despite there being a heatwave with outside temperatures climbing to over 40°C; it’s uncommon for AC to be on during set up, though not impossible.

On the same day, a figure fully covered in sweats and a hoodie was filmed entering the venue for rehearsals. Again: heatwave.

May 10th

The venue looked less than half full less than ten minutes before the set start time.

Chinese CPFs keeping track of things concluded that three different impersonators were likely used, with one possibly being a woman. There were visible differences in the nose, jawline, eyebrows, Adam’s apple, butt, and stature. Furthering this, people watching reported that the costume changes were remarkably fast and there were no breaks over the course of 20 song performances (3 hours).

It’s quite likely that the cameras used for the screens inside the venue were using deepfake tech to correct for these mistakes. Yes this can be done live. It was noticed that the screens seemed to noticably lag more than is standard (example, comparison to another concert) and occassionally jumped.

Some of the audience members visible in photos look quite unexcited to be there. It’s possible that people were hired to fill empty seats, especially given that so many were left unsold that they decreased the number of seats physically present in the venue. A number of people looked to be in quite a hurry to leave afterwards. There is hearsay that some of them may have been students who were paid to attend. [translated chatlog between Chinese fans]

About an hour and a half after the concert started, the bought hashtag #Primordial Theater# suddenly appeared on the general Weibo hotsearch, reaching #14 before completely disappearing ten minutes later. Coincidentally, the Weibo administration account made a post shortly afterwards warning about celebrity impersonation fraud.

Around this time, all photos of the concert posted by Ranyi, one of the “official” accounts, were removed by Weibo and the account was later banned for violating community rules. Similar photos and a video were also removed from Xie Yihua’s Weibo accounts.

A whaler who made a post that she shook hands with him at the concert forgot to change her VPN to Thailand, with it instead saying she was in Japan. 🤡

There are rumors that some whalers who attended said it was fake and closed their accounts, I haven’t seen direct evidence of this yet. Also a rumor that one went to the police. Some whalers were reportedly afraid to speak out about what they had seen at the concert because they had given the scam their personal information.

May 11th

There was significantly less posted footage and discussion of this day. Many people who had attended gave excuses such as phones being too low on battery to film, only having blurry photos, wanted to capture the moment with their own eyes, etc.

Videos show that barely anyone in the audience appeared to be singing along to some songs, including Surround.

Comment about the vocals from a trained musician: “The voice doesn't feel open, it feels like it's covered with a layer of veil. Generally speaking, the voice is not clean, and secondly, the breath is not stable, and the voice is obvious. Trembling, as well as out-of-tune and treble, the treble sounds very laborious, and the out-of-tune is also sandwiched between the two notes, and the way of vocalization is not right, it is all in the throat, singing like this is easy to hurt the throat and make it hoarse.” (mtl)

A video and group photo showing Xiao Yu were passed around, with him being visibly too short in relation to “Zhang Zhehan” in the photo.

Again, many of the photos posted by Xie Yihua were removed by Weibo.

VVIP ticket holders (on both days) were able to take photos with Zhang Sanjian afterwards: - Reports from them say that Zhang Sanjian was quite touchy-feely and eager with hugs (😰). If you look at old photos and video of the real Zhang Zhehan, he was always very polite and often kept his hands clasped when taking photos with unfamiliar people. - The attendees were assigned a number so the photos could be sent to them afterwards. Standard practice for celebrity photo ops is that the photos are printed there; being sent later allows time for editing to be done. - It took two weeks for people to be sent their photos. Despite this, some of the editing is... not very good.

Followups

Yahoo! Taiwan published an article talking about the concert, referring to Zhang Zhehan as an “artist who insulted China”.

[Written notes] from a Twitter space discussion about the concert. Main points not previously covered here:

It was learned by Chinese CPFs that any Chinese person who wants to hold a concert outside of China needs to get written permission to do so. There is no evidence that the scam gang did this, and it’s doubtful that someone in Zhang Zhehan’s situation would do so.

If you watch the videos of Zhang Sanjian talking at the concert, it looks very performative, not a real emotional response like what you can see in videos of the real Zhang Zhehan at his past concerts. Especially at a concert after 813 and not seeing his fans for two years, wouldn’t you expect him to get quite emotional?

Likewise, there are enunciation differences and dialectic differences in how Zhang Sanjian spoke.

If the point of the concerts was to make money, they would have started promotions much earlier, it doesn’t make commercial sense to announce it at such short notice. The intent of the concert was to get attention.

Another intent seems to be to try to divide CP fans, similar to how last year they succeeded in dividing haizhe and whalers.

Following the concerts, there was a significant uptick in fans of other celebs harrassing those saying the concerts were fake—especially in c-ent fan culture, fans of other celebs can and will happily take advantage of the scam to eliminate their bias’s competition even if they are aware that it’s a scam.

October had always been your favorite month. A whole month dedicated to spooks? Watching scary movies, dressing up and of course, candy. You absolutely loved dressing up for Halloween as a child. You always had a costume picked out far in advance. You were 11 and this year you were going to go as “Dani Dennison” from Hocus Pocus, your ultimate favorite Halloween movie, and your favorite character. Dani was a little spit fire, just like you. Your mom had sewn you a replica of Dani’s costume, witch's hat and all. You remembered the excitement of seeing it on the hanger in your childhood room one day after school in mid September, days before the world as you knew it would end. You never got the chance to wear your Dani Dennison costume, the world ended September 26th, 2003. You imagined now, your little costume, moth eaten and disintegrating to nothing but a precious memory.

October meant nothing to you anymore. You were grown, you had seen things and your soul had hardened. Your love for Halloween remained a distant memory of your childhood and it would stay there. Two months had passed since your night with Joel. You kept your promise to never speak of what happened between you to anyone. You were more cautious of your whereabouts and you wanted to give Joel a reason for him to trust you, to rely on you again.

The air was chilly as you walked home from another grueling day shoveling shit. Your body ached and your head throbbed. Your throat was raw and inflamed. You were coming down with something, you were certain of it. Catching a cold or any illness was not taken lightly by Fedra. Those fucks couldn’t differentiate a common cold from being infected and you knew that you had to get home quick. You took the back alleyways home instead of the main streets, ducking between tight corners as you moved through the shadows. The sun had nearly disappeared on the horizon by the time you made it back to the apartment. You could hear the Fedra trucks outside, making their rounds for civilians out past curfew. You had just barely made it, feeling a sense of relief wash over you as you locked the door behind you.

Tess and Joel were on a run and wouldn’t be back till the morning. With the weather changing they needed to stack up on supplies, it was crucial. You slowly sank down onto the couch, rubbing your hands over your face. You felt like fucking shit. Leaning back, with your eyes closed, you took a few deep breaths. Maybe this would just be a small cold that would last a couple days. You wanted to convince yourself that it wasn’t something worse. Just a stupid little cold that you could easily get over.

By midnight you were in pure misery. Your body ached one hour and the next you had the chills. You were sweating profusely and your forehead was hot to the touch and you looked pale. You did your best to hide your coughs, afraid that with the thin walls, someone might hear you.

At 12:30 you heard the doorknob jiggle and your blood went ice cold, you watched it open as Tess and Joel quietly slipped inside, they hadn’t noticed your huddled form on the couch yet.

You coughed into your sleeve.

Immediately, Joel and Tess whipped around, both with guns drawn on instinct but when he saw it was only you, his shoulders relaxed slightly as he slowly lowered his gun.

“Christ, Gwen. The hell are you doin up at this hour?”

He took a step towards the couch, Tess behind him, gun still drawn. Then he saw your face and the sweat dripping down your brows and your body trembling, even under the thick blanket that embraced you.

You couldn’t speak, your throat was so raw that your voice was nearly gone as you let out another a low cough, eyes trained on both of them, nervously.

“Joel, it’s not what you think it is—“

He cut you off then, gun raised as he took a step back, instinctively pushing Tess behind his broad form with his free hand.

“You’re fuckin infected?!” He harshly whispered with his finger hovering over the trigger.

You slowly raised your hands above your head then, body still trembling and your mind felt hazy from the fever.

“I’m not infected Joel. I’m sick. A cold or flu or somethin! I swear. I’m not infected.” Your heart was racing and your lower lip quivered, a single tear slowly rolling down your cheek, dripping down your chin. Your glossy eyes desperately pleading with him to believe that you were telling the truth.

“Joel you gotta–” Tess intervened but he cut her off too.

“Don’t, Tess. Alright? Just give me a minute here.” He spoke, while still pointing his gun at you, right between your eyes. You knew he could pull the trigger at any moment, ending your short time on earth. To your surprise, he instead pulled out the device that was used by Fedra soldiers to check new QZ residents for the cordyceps infection. For a moment, you thought about where the hell he had gotten the device but now was not the time for questions.

“I’m gonna need ya to turn your neck towards me doll, nice and slow. You make any sudden movement, and I’ll shoot. Do I make myself clear?” He spoke sternly, watching you intensely, his own palms beginning to sweat. He knew that if the device turned bright red, he’d have no choice but to pull the trigger. Joel wasn’t a religious man by any means, but he found himself silently praying for the device to turn green.

You gave him a meek nod, arms still raised behind your head, they were beginning to ache but you didn’t dare move them. You knew Joel would shoot you, he wouldn’t hesitate.

“Yes, Joel.” You spoke just above a whisper and slowly, you turned your neck to him, feeling your pulse ringing in your ears.

“Good girl.” He took a deep breath, as he lowered the device to the base of your neck, pressing the button and watched you wince from the slight pinch. You both held your breath for those fleeting seconds as the device beeped. It turned green a moment later. You were not infected. You had told him the truth. Relief spread across Joel’s face and you mirrored him, finally bringing your arms down from your head as he lowered his gun, slipping it back into his holster.

“Not infected.” He breathed out, momentarily glancing back at Tess, who still had her gun trained on you even after the device turned green. One stern look from her partner, and she was stuffing it back in her holster. “What a relief. She lives another day. Oh joy.” She muttered to herself.

“I told you I was telling the truth, Joel.” You spoke finally, bringing your hand up to your chest to feel your heart rate return to normal but you were still very much unwell.

“I know, I know, doll. I just had to be sure. M’sorry if I scared you. Can never be too careful.” He sighed then, setting the device down on the coffee table carefully then before he brought the back of his hand to your forehead, his lips curving into a deep frown when he could feel how hot your skin was under his touch.

“Fuck.” “You’re burning up Gwen. How long have you had this fever for huh? Just for today? For a few hours?”

He was asking too many questions at once for you to be able to keep up but his concern for you was evident.

“I—I don’t know. Maybe a few hours? I started feelin like shit right before my shift was up. Took the back alleys to avoid any Fedra soldiers and then it just started getting worse.”

You coughed into your sleeve again, falling back into the couch, exhausted.

“Tess, Tess! Get me a cold washcloth now.” He spoke urgently to his partner, his worried eyes trained on your shivering form as he slowly sank down to his knees so he was more on your level. His back ached but he didn’t care.

“You sure you weren’t seen? No one heard you? You know what Fedra would do if they saw you like this, right? They wouldn’t hesitate. Those fucks don’t know how to tell the difference between being infected versus bein ill.”

Tess reluctantly went and grabbed a washcloth from the kitchen, drenching it in cold water before she rang it out and brought it over to her partner, giving you a disapproving look before she turned on her heel and walked away.

“I know what they would have done to me, Joel. I know they wouldn’t hesitate. That’s why I took the back alleys. Like you taught me. I was careful, I was quiet.”

“Good girl. M’proud of you.” He spoke softly as he brought the washcloth over your forehead. “Gonna get you some help okay? Just need you to stay here and rest. Tess and I might need to go on a run again. We’ll get ya some medicine and you’ll be as good as new, I promise.”

Your heart absolutely melted in your chest from Joel’s concern over your well-being. You didn’t expect him to care, let alone potentially risk his life to get you some damn medicine. This was so against Joel’s nature, you thought.

“Joel, you don’t need to go on another run for me. It’s fine. I’ll be alright. Really, I’m not gonna let a fever take me out.”

“No.” He was stern with you now. “You’re not gonna fight me on this. You’re gonna rest these next few days and Tess and I will go to Bill and Franks. We'll get the medicine and be back in 3 days time. Now rest, don’t make me ask twice.”

“You already did ask twice, Miller.” You laughed quietly before coughing.

Joel didn’t find it funny. Not one bit, as he was too concerned that your fever could get worse if he didn’t act fast enough. He slowly rose from his knees then, you heard them crack as he muttered under his breath, taking one last look at your shivering form before he walked away to find Tess.

He leaned against the door jamb of their shared room, arms crossed over his chest.

“We gotta go to Bill and Frank’s, first thing tomorrow morning.”

Tess slowly looked up at her partner as she sat on the edge of bed and shook her head.

“Joel, we nearly were just caught on this last run. She’s got a fever, man. She’s not on her fucking death bed.”

“Did you fuckin hear me? We’re goin to Bill and Frank’s tomorrow. Her fever could get worse. She could be on her death bed in a matter of days if we don’t make this run.”

He paused then before continuing.

“She needs medicine, Tess. Please, do this for me.”

Tess took a deep breath then, placing her hands on her knees then feeling exhausted from the day and just wanted to sleep.

“Fine. We’ll go to Bill and Frank’s. We’ll get her the medicine and then we’ll come home.”

Joel let out a sigh of relief, grateful that his partner didn’t have it in her to fight him on this.

“Thank you.”

“Don’t mention it.” She slumped down on the mattress then, rolling over with her back facing him. He joined her shortly after. She could feel the dip of the mattress from his body, his strong arms wounding around her waist as he pulled her back against his chest, nuzzling his face into her neck where he pressed a soft kiss into her skin, breathing her in.

“G’night.” He whispered softly into the nape of her neck.

Tess didn’t respond. She instead placed her hands over his, interlocking their fingers as she settled into a deep slumber, listening to his steady heartbeat lull her to sleep.

Your fever had gotten worse through the night. Joel had hardly been able to sleep when he could hear your painful coughs fill the stagnant air and it twisted his heart painfully. You were beyond miserable, nearly begging death to take you out. Anything was better than feeling the oxygen being stolen from your lungs.

When the sun began to slowly peek in the sky, creating an array of orange and red hues, Joel slowly rose from the bed. Untangling his body from Tess’s. He was kind enough to drape his half of the coarse blanket around her, not wanting to disturb her slumber. He watched as she grabbed ahold of the blanket and pulled it tighter around her. He leaned down then, pressing a ghost of a kiss to her head before he quietly left their joined room, softly closing the door behind him.

Joel was apprehensive as he padded down the hall. He was afraid of what he might see as the couch with your curled up form, in a tight ball came into his view. His heart physically ached at the sight of you. You were shivering, mumbling in your sleep while you clutched the blanket like your life depended on it. He slowly walked over to the couch, sinking down to his knees in front of you. His touch was extremely delicate as he gently brushed a few strands of your sweat soaked hair from your forehead. His lips were set in a deep frown. Why did it have to be you to get so sick? Why couldn’t it be him? You instinctively leaned into the soft touch of his fingers, your lashes slowly fluttering open. “Joel.” You hoarsely whispered, lips trembling.

“Shh.” He whispered. “M’gonna get you the medicine okay? G’nna take care of you. You’re gonna be alright, doll. I promise. Just need ya to hang in there for a few days, okay?” He rasped. His voice was comforting at this early hour. His words were so soft spoken, you swore you were hallucinating. Or, it was just the fever overtaking your senses.

“I’m f-fine Joel. Just a fever, that's all. A real terrible fuckin fever.”

He chuckled under his breath then because only you would be so defiant of your own illness. A real trooper is what you were. There’s no way you were going to let this fever take you out.

“I know, doll. I know. You’re a tough little thing, that’s a fact.” He sighed, removing his fingers from your forehead as he slowly rose from his knees. “G’nna give Tess another 20 and then we’re gonna get goin. Don’t want to waste anymore time.”

You swallowed the lump growing in your throat as you watched him rise from the floor. Locking eyes with him for a brief moment before he had looked away.

“Three days and you’ll be back, right?” You spoke just above a whisper, feeling the rawness of your throat screaming at you.

“Yes. I promise. Three days' time and I'll be back.” He reassured you as he walked over to the window, glancing down at the barren street, knowing that the window of opportunity for him and Tess to leave without Fedra noticing would be up by the hour.

“You really don’t have to go and do this for me Joel. I don’t want you and Tess risking your lives for me. Risking the chance of you both getting thrown in lock up? I don’t want that to happen.”

He turned towards you then, arms down at his side and he huffed, frustratingly.

“I’m a cruel man, doll. However, m’not cruel enough to sit here and watch you suffer. I’ve still got some of my compassion left. Just enough for you.”

He had shuffled over to the end of the couch, sinking down as he felt around for the loose floorboard, pulling up the plank of wood, setting it down to the side. Reaching into the hole in the flooring, he pulled out a carton of bullets and a revolver that he had stashed away.

“Joel.”

“Gwen.” He spoke in the same tone as you. Looking up at you from the floor with his eyebrow raised.

“You done fightin’ me on this now?”

“No.”

He sighed then. Placing the loose plank of wood back in place before he stood up.

“You’re too stubborn for your own good Gwen.”

“I know I am.”

You saw his lips curve up ever so slightly from your banter.

“At least we’re able to agree on one thing.” He spoke with amusement in his voice.

The lighthearted moment you shared together came to an abrupt end. You could cut the tension in the air with a knife as Joel slowly sank down onto the end of the couch, expertly loading the cylinder of the revolver with the cartridges. You couldn’t help but watch his hands as they worked. You imagined he had done this over a thousand times by now.

“You listen now, alright? Anyone that tries to come through that door, you shoot. Don’t hesitate because chances are, they’ll shoot first. Don’t give ‘em the opportunity.”

“Joel, I highly doubt that anyone–” He cut you off then.

“Gwen, this ain’t no time for games alright? M’not gonna be here to protect ya. If people hear that Tess and I are out of town they will come. Don’t fight me on this.” He spoke sternly, his eyes trained on you, brows furrowed in a deep line.

“Okay.” You breathed out. “I won’t give them the opportunity to shoot first.”

“Good girl.” He handed you the gun then, barrel facing towards the floor.

“Now, show me how you hold it. No one handed shit either. This ain’t the movies.”

He watched as you grabbed the base of the gun, carefully with both hands. You knew how to wield a knife like it was the back of your hand, but guns were a whole new territory for you.

“Not bad for a first timer.” He leaned over to you then, placing his large hands over yours to adjust your grip, gently moving your thumbs so they were interlocked over each other. “Thumb over your thumb, left hand squeezes down on the right. You got it?”

You watched carefully as he adjusted your grip, his close proximity was enough to make your head spin and when he was sure you could handle it, he moved his hands off of yours, his eyes focused on your face as you gave him a slight nod.

“Yeah, I think I got it. Seems simple enough.”

“Let’s just hope you don’t have to use it. Just giving it to ya as an extra precaution.” He said as he gently grabbed the gun from your grip and set it down on the coffee table. “When you’re feelin better, I'll teach you how to properly shoot. You’re gonna need to know how if you eventually want to go on more runs.”

He gave your calf a slight squeeze then, his eyes reassuring you that you’d be just fine, and you believed him. “Yeah, figured I would need to use one of these eventually.”

He slowly stood from the couch then, readjusting your blanket so that it covered your feet. Joel could be a real softy when he wanted to be. It was a rare occurrence for him to be gentle and patient with you. Those were two things that Joel Miller wasn’t the best at. With you, he made the effort and you greatly appreciated it.

Joel didn’t know what to say at that moment. He didn’t want to freak you out with the possibility that this fever could in fact take you out. He wanted you to remain calm for him, but this was shit he wasn’t good at. So all he could do now was look at you, taking a mental picture in his mind of your features, in case he never got to see them again. You both knew there was a possibility that you wouldn’t see each other again. That was just the cruel reality of the world you lived in now.

20 minutes had passed and Tess had come out of the bedroom, dressed with her bag over her shoulder, gun on her hip and her usual displeased look on her face when she saw that you were very much still alive.

“We gotta get movin, Joel.” She had walked past him into the kitchen, grabbing a small stash of food and shoved it in her backpack.

“I’ll be outside. So make it quick. I’d like to avoid running into any Fedra soldiers, and I’m not really in the mood to kill anyone this early if we can avoid it.” She laced her boots up then by the door and slipped her jacket on before taking one last look at you, shaking her head slightly as she slipped out the door, closing it behind her.

“Alright, doll. Remember what I said. Don’t give anyone the opportunity to shoot first, thumb over your thumb. Don’t go do somethin stupid either. Like shootin your ass off or somethin like that.” He adjusted the strap of his bag on his shoulder, as he looked at you.

“Joel, I’m not gonna go and shoot my ass off. I doubt I’ll be doing much of anything for the next few days.”

“I know, but I just wanted to make myself clear.” He walked over to you then, setting down a few books and a ration of food and a canister of water.

“You’ve made yourself as clear as day.”

He adjusted his gun on his holster then as he took one last look at you. “I’ll be back soon. I promise. Get some rest and don’t worry about Tess and I out there. We’ll be alright.” He wanted to hug you, kiss you even but time was ticking and he had to move.

You gave him a little salute then, watching his back turn as he walked towards the door and grabbed the handle, slowly turning it before he looked back at you, giving you a slight nod and then he was gone. You heard the sound of the door locking, and he had jiggled it for good measure. You could hear his and Tess’s footsteps echoing down the hall. Each step becoming softer, and softer till you could hear them no more. Now it was just you, in the dead silence of their apartment. You held his promise of return like an oath. Joel Miller was a lot of things, but he was not a liar. You knew he would return to you.

Timeline 9 - August - September 2023

For completeness and to consult when there’s discussion about his whereabouts. In addition to the previous timelines.

Timeline 9 covers 2 August 2023 - 26 September 2023

2 August, this time groomed while photographed on the streets of NoHo with AN. Later on we learned he recorded videos for Esquire

3 August, the next shop event at Broadway Spirits, some more streetpics and video were found.

August 4 he flew to Chicago for the next event at Binny's Beverage Depot on August 5th. There's some time to explore Chicago in the evening and the next day enjoying a baseball game. He's also spotted by a fan leaving the hotel

Next stops will be on August 8 for Houston and August 10 for Austin. While the LA stop has been postponed.

August 7 looking for some coffee at the airport and flying to Houston. And right back to promo and mixing cocktails at Permission Whiskey and Mad Houston

August 8 the event at Spec's Wines, Spirits & Finer Foods including the pre-signing, waiting line and fan pics. After which he did some more bartending at Electric FeelGood in Houston.

August 9 he's in Austin seen at Peche, the next day, August 10, the event at Total Wine & Spirits in Austin takes place.

August 11, Sam and Alex are flying, probably to LA though it's not sure if the story is a latergram

However confirmation about his whereabouts came a week later when we saw NR flying on August 16 to what appeared to be LA and was confirmed by PV's post they were at Pharos gym at Redondo Beach on August 17th.

August 19 he visits the Rams game in the Sofi Stadium, LA together with Nic R, AN and Marina C. A fan recognized him as well.

On Aug 24th he posted a video probably at Runyon Canyon or the HH Hills. Presumably recent. The next day, August 25th, he posted a pic with NR at Pharos Echopark, for sure a latergram as NR was already back home, and as we learned S himself took a flight out of LA, spotted by a fan. He flew to Kansas City for a private con on August 26th, organised by Sasnak City. he was a guest together with Duncan L and Charles V. Some more info was revealed later during a live IG of attendees.

On Friday 1 September members of the SS/MPC team were invited for a boat trip at Marina Del Rey. Which lead to a stir since then called the Zanzibar Saga.

Sunday 3 September the final event of the SS tour at Total Wine & More in LA

On 5 September he was spotted sitting outside at Shutters on the Beach, and 2 days later on 7 September again, now at a coffee shop on Abbot Kinney same clothes and motorbike helmet.

On 10 September he's at the men's finales at the US Open in NYC

Recording the audio for the CL in NZ book at the Hachette office in NYC during the week from 11 - 15 September, on Friday 15 September a group pic from the office is posted as well as another pic from an employee. Another group pic is posted later on. On Saturday 16 September a fan pic is posted from the Starbuck shop near the Hachette office and on 18 September he posts a video himself.

Sunday 24 September he's spotted at The Cafe at Number 16 in Aberdour, Scotland, having some family time

On 26 September he posts a selfie with Jake Norton, meeting him in Glasgow the day before. Later on confirmed by a fan pic taken on the same day. He might have been doing some home decorating in that week.

Last night, Chicago’s struggling NHL team pulled off a surprising win against the Boston Bruins. The final score was 2-4, with one of the Bruins’ points being a penalty shot. Hockey fans around the world were watching the Bruins play their first game with newly acquired player Azriel Cantor (Age 23, RW,) traded three days ago from the Montreal Canadiens.

As the 2020-2021 Rookie of the Year, all eyes are on Cantor to see how he performs as a Bruin. Boston fans have high hopes for the young right-winger after they saw how Cantor and Bruins’ Captain Eris Vanserra played together during this year’s NHL All-Stars Weekend, displaying the kind of chemistry that sparks once in a generation between players. Everyone who watched the All-Stars tournament knows they were witnessing something special.

The real question is: Where did that chemistry go? Because it certainly wasn’t on the ice at United Center last night.

It’s normal for a team to need some time to adjust to new dynamics when players are traded. I think I speak for all Bruins fans when I say that we understand expecting the team’s best performance mere days after acquiring a new player is unreasonable. Let’s hope Cantor and Vanserra can get back into that rhythm we all witnessed a few weeks ago with a little more time together on the ice.

Because if what happened in Vegas truly stays in Vegas, the Bruins may find themselves looking to make another trade sooner rather than later.

Nimona, the 2011-14 webcomic by ND Stevenson, turned into a graphic novel published on May 12, 2015, and adapted into a full cast audiobook on October 4, 2016, has been adapted into an animated movie!

The movie premiered at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France on June 14, 2023. Netflix released a teaser trailer on May 18, 2023, a clip on June 8, 2023, a full trailer on June 14, 2023, another big clip on June 21, 2023, more footage on June 22, 2023, and another big clip on June 27, 2023. The movie released in select theaters starting on June 23.

The movie released on June 30, 2023 on Netflix for streaming! You can also view the movie for free, legally, on YouTube, until February 26th, 2024. Netflix also released a free-to-read digital-only multimedia 358-page artbook for the movie.

For simplified background, Disney cancelled the movie in 2021, but on April 11, 2022, it was announced that Annapurna would produce the movie, DNEG would animate it, and Netflix would distribute it for streaming sometime in 2023. I'm seeing a lot of confusion out there, so I'll make a summary of what else we know. I also keep the Nimona movie fanwiki page up to date with more info as it releases. Other good places to get news: ND Stevenson's twitter, his Tumblr, his personal site, the savenimona twitter, and the movie page on Netflix. While managing the fanwiki I found that Wikipedia's reference articles for the movie were kind of terrible and often quoted things not being said in the articles being quoted, even in their archive versions, so I would stick with first-hand accounts where possible, particularly what's coming from folks working on the movie and the companies making it. Below is a more detailed summary of info.

Nimona by ND Stevenson began life as a school project while Nate was in college. He was a tumblrite and posted the first pages on Tumblr on December 14, 2011. On June 19, 2012, he began publishing the webcomic in full on its own site. Sometime before November 2012, it was contracted for publication as a graphic novel after completion. The webcomic ended on September 30, 2014, and was released as a single graphic novel in entirety on May 12, 2015. It has currently been translated into 16 languages. Nate adapted it into a full cast audiobook that released on October 4, 2016 (you can hear a preview and purchase it via the link above). The graphic novel and audiobook are still available for purchase.

Apologies for maybe getting studio names wrong, some have changed over time. Anyway: the movie rights for Nimona were acquired by 20th Century Fox Animation in June 2015, to be produced by Blue Sky Studios. In June 2017, Fox scheduled the movie to be released on February 14, 2020. Patrick Osbourne was brought on as director, and it was planned to have the movie in the style of Paperman (Osbourne was animation supervisor of Paperman (2012), and went on to direct Feast (2015), which used the same style). After Disney acquired 20th Century Animation (as it was later called), the movie was delayed to March 5, 2021. There was reportedly pushback for queer stuff in the movie. Blue Sky is publicly stated to have shutdown due to the pandemic and money issues, which isn't relevant here, and I would be careful spreading rumors it was for other reasons. A lot of "successful" US companies shut down studios and departments en masse for other very dumb reasons, particularly in recent years, sometimes just because they aren't making as much money as their parent/shareholders wants them to and cutting salaries makes your profits look better to shareholders. The important part is: Blue Sky was being shut down, and Disney officially cancelled the movie in February 2021.

At some point around the cancellation, a video compilation of early release footage and sculpts seemingly from someone involved in the movie's production was released online. It was later taken down, but put back up by iO9 after the Annapurna, DNEG, Netflix production was announced.

After Disney shuttered Blue Sky, according to Variety, the Nimona crew, "led by former Blue Sky co-presidents Andrew Millstein and Robert Baird, shopped the animatic around town. The film caught the attention of Annapurna CEO Megan Ellison, who was familiar with the film and had been tracking the project. “I think anyone who has ever felt misunderstood or like an outsider will connect with N.D. Stevenson’s story like I did,” she said in press material for the film. “When I watched the storyboard reels I immediately fell in love with it. Nothing about it felt conventional or built off market research. It’s bold and mischievous and full of love. Nimona has such a powerful voice.”

Annapurna stepped in and signed up Millstein and Baird as executive producers. They created Shapeshifter Films so the team could finish “Nimona,” and subsequently joined the company, forming Annapurna Animation.

DNEG Animation was hired in the spring of 2021 to help with the animation, becoming collaborators on the film."

On April 11, 2022, it was announced that the film would be produced by Annapurna, animated by DNEG, and distributed by Netflix. Netflix also shared the first summary:

"A Knight is framed for a crime he didn't commit and the only person who can help him prove his innocence is Nimona, a shape-shifting teen who might also be a monster he's sworn to kill. Set in a techno-medieval world unlike anything animation has tackled before, this is a story about the labels we assign to people and the shapeshifter who refuses to be defined by anyone."

Between Netflix's posts and DNEG's Nimona page, as well as folks involved with the film talking about it, and new info released after the Annecy Film Festival announcement, we knew it would release in Summer 2023. Netflix released a primary cast article with images of what the characters look like from Netflix (be warned, both are very spoilery).

What is also interesting about the cast listings is that Ballister's last name was changed from Blackheart to Boldheart.

Sources for Business Insider said that Blue Sky's work would be incorporated into the film somehow. The second production seemingly wasn't started from scratch, and members of the Blue Sky production stayed on to work on the project. This makes sense, given the art was quite similar to what was in that footage released around the film's cancellation in 2021. DNEG crew have stated repeatedly, though, that although they did have a lot of material from the Blue Sky production, they had to make a lot of things from the ground up.

Netflix released another still on May 17, 2023. On May 18, they released their teaser, the movie's first poster, and the announcement of the June 30, 2023 general streaming release date!

Netflix also added a new preview image to the Nimona page on the app, featuring Ballister and Ambrosius facing off behind Nimona.

And Netflix started selling Nimona plushies! Amazon (and possibly other vendors) are also selling shirts/jackets with official movie art!

Netflix released more footage of the movie on May 24, 2023! (it's around 6:31 in the video).

Empire magazine released another still for the movie on June 7, 2023, as well as an article in their June 8, 2023 issue.

Variety released a new still on June 11, 2023.

Netflix released a new poster on Jun 13, 2023!

More stills were released in an Entertainment Weekly article on June 14, 2023. And Netflix released even more. More teasers were put up on the Netflix app (though these are quite spoilery, so I'd advise avoiding them). The cast and crew did press tours throughout June 2023.
