#Tim's not even adopted by Bruce when he's 15 years old
oifaaa · 2 years
Note
I actually don’t mind the Reverse Robins AU, when people actually keep the different peoples characterization in mind. Tim as Red Hood would look very different from Jason as Red Hood, but a lot of people either forget that or just make Tim a more successful Red Hood which doesn’t make sense because he would be a pretty shitty mob boss honestly.
Yeah but see the problem is any variation of Tim becoming red hood is ooc for him as he just doesn't have the back ground, the connection with Bruce, or the right moral code and so all that's left is the name the red hood and I don't think Tim's even dramatic (or creative) enough to considering using the jokers old name

Danny Phantom adopts more kids than Bruce Wayne
I’ve seen a lot of fics going around about how Danny will get summoned as the Ghost King via cultist and dpxdc fics going around and I had an idea.
So Danny (ages 14-16 ish depending) gets summoned a lot, and in those summoning's there is usually a sacrifice. Normally, if the sacrifices are kidnapped adults and the like Danny beats up the cultist and just lets the sacrifices go.
But what happens when the sacrifices are younger?
A literal child gets offered up, a soul contract binding them to Danny (probably as a slave or food or whatever, I just think like John Constantine’s contracts but without the con). Danny still beats up the cultist but now he has a kid with a soul contract that he can’t break without severe backlash happening to the kid and there already pretty hurt form the cultist.
Panicking and worried about the kid, Danny seals the contract but with some adjustments, so now for all intent and purposes he now has a kid.
Danny takes the kid back to the Far Frozen for Frostbite to heal, constantly sending calming emotions to his new kid while panic texting Sam and Tucker they had a kid now and spamming Jazz with questions on how to parent.
Many freak-outs and logistic family meetings later and they’ve worked out a relatively (more like half-way) decent plan for parenting. The kid is very happy with the new and loving parents and auntie and things calm down as much as things can with three liminal teenagers, a half-dead one, and a elementary schooler can between parenting, going to school, ghost king duties, and hiding all of this from Jack and Maddie.
Danny cries the first time the tot called him Dad. Sam and Tucker record this for blackmail. Danny gets even when Sam and Tucker breakout the waterworks when they get called Mom and Pops.
And then a few months later another summoning happens, this time with a 17 year old. They get adopted.
Five months after that, another summoning, this time with two 12 year old's. They get adopted.
Thirteen months after that, another summoning. The kids 15. Adopted.
Two months after that, summoning and there’s three of them. All adopted.
By the time Danny, Sam, and Tucker are about to hit college age they have thirteen kids give or take.  All of them call the Trio Dad, Mom, and Pops. Doesn’t matter if some of the kids are older. Team Phantom are the best parents most of them have ever had. Age is blatantly ignored in most situations. Dani is considered the oldest. The first adopted kid is considered the second oldest, etc.
Danny’s castle in the Infinite Realms has a room for all of this kids and portals going out into different dimensions depending on where the summoning happened. The Trio didn’t want to completely uproot any of their kids lives so they make sure all of the kids have the right records, access to schooling, etc.
Cue two of the kids (maybe three if you want John Constantine drunkenly auctioning off his at the time non-existent first born, accidents happen, the whole hodgepodge family has a understanding to punch Constantine on sight if they ever see him on their siblings/sons behalf) being from the DC universe.
Older of the two goes to Gotham U (I think studying communications, politics, philosophy etc to be able to help Danny with his Ghost Kind Duties) and the younger getting a scholarship to the fancy rich kid school Damian attends.
Danny’s kids are about as liminal as they can get between the adoption contract, all of the ectoplasm exposure, and the kids all living in the Infinite Realms the majority of the time. Damian and the younger get along like a house on fire be cause they have similar interest based on life. I think the older sibling somehow befriends Tim Drake, Tim possible develops a crush.
Batman is very paranoid about the two possibly metas around his kids

I'm obsessive over my Constantine Jr Au (which still needs a fic name for, I'm open to suggestions) because
this is a cranky danny. he's spent years fighting with no end in sight, with parents who he can't trust and his only companions never truly understanding what he's going through.
he vapes CBD for the pain he's constantly in. he drank alco/hol once to help him sleep, but his parents smelt it on his breath and, just like with their research, took that to believe EVERYTHING they'd ever suspected about danny to be true: that he drinks, he does dru/gs, he's in a gang. the only thing they've never suspected their son of--being a ghost--is the one thing he actually does.
then, right on the cusp of eighteen and freedom, he gets outed. AND transformed into a seven-year-old.
this is not a danny who is willing to play at being a child. and if anyone tries to, they're in for a foul time.
Danny was 17, transformed into a 7 year old and hides in Bludhaven, and is 8 when the police finally figure out that, hey, this weird kid who keeps altering us to crime scenes is usually right on the money about who the killer is, we should investigate that. Officer Grayson is on the case!
And discovers that he absolutely can't STAND this kid.
He thought he liked kids! Everyone thought he liked kids! but this kid...
This isn't called the Constantine Jr AU because Danny is a supernatural detective, or because Danny might be Constantine's kid. Its because Danny is an unrepentant little bas/tard and he makes it everyone's problem.
Danny vapes and blows bubblegum smoke in Grayson's face.
He takes out a flask and Grayson's grabs it, learning its full of orange juice. Danny then takes out a second flask, this one with vod/ka.
He wears a trenchcoat he found in the trash (the same trenchcoat Nightwing wears in DC vs Vampires, if you know you know) but the end and the sleeves are cut off for his hands and legs. the pockets are roughly around his knees.
Grayson is desperate to figure out more about this kid, but he doesn't go to batman because, time-line wise, this is right before red hood starts running around. Jason is dead/alive-in-hiding, Tim is Robin, and Dick is mad about it. (ages-- Bruce: ? Nightwing: 24 Jason: 19 Tim: 15 Danny: 8 Damien: 7-8)
he doesn't really bond with the kid until they're both kidnapped by a gang for hostages, and Danny's big kid emotions get a hold of him (he thought he could escape them bc he's an adult, he's gone through worse, but nope! child brain chemistry). Grayson is worried that he's hurt and in pain, but Danny confesses that he's always in pain. he has nerve damage all over his body, and the only thing he really trusts is CBD. He feels like shit for taking his juul away, but more importantly, because he's been treating Danny like a irritant and just a little kid.
they get rescued and Grayson tries to take him back to his home, but Danny reveals he's homeless, saying something like "I sleep where it suits me, just drop me off whereever."
Absolutely not, Grayson is taking kid back to his place for a bed, food, and a shower, in whatever order the kid wants.
Danny stays semi-perminantly at his apartment, but Nightwing tries not to push it, because this kid practically screams flight risk. unfortunately, the paparazzi have nothing better to do and snap a pick of Grayson and Danny getting dinner together, speculating that Dick's taken after Bruce
Danny doesn't care too much; I think his ghost form is the same, if glitchy, so his parents don't know about the deaging. Grayson is mildly panicking, but its not like he HASN'T been considering adopting the evil troglodyte. Even Bruce, Tim, and Alfred aren't the problem.
No, the problem is the Red Hood, a crime boss who just cut 8 people's heads off, seeing what looks like Nightwing pulling an innocent kid into the neverending fight against crime and Seeing Green.
Edit: Had to censor sh!t because ths wasn't showing up in the tags

Skill Issue
Jason was away when Tim got de-aged. Now, it his turned to be the victim of the incarnation of Janet, Timothy.
pt.2 of Disgustingly Green
(CW: Manipulation, swearing)
Tim avoided the kid that kept on insulting him. He doesn't even apologise to him! Mr. Wayne is so dumb that he doesn't even reprimand that kid and instead he reprimand Tim instead. It is giving Sephora kids vibe.
Tim was now actively avoidinh the living room where the telly is. He likes watching news but the kid was always there petting his cat. And Tim is allergic to cats, that is what his mom told him when he ask for one, so he is glad to have the huge library of the Waynes to himself.
They have a huge collection of non-fiction books and Tim loves it. He was already in fifth book in his weeks of being here! His house never had this types of books, it's just his textbook and the ancient manuscript that his parents like to bring back to their digs. Having this was really heaven.
He is in the page 86 when someone enter the library. He looked over to see if it's the kid or if it's Mr. Butler. But to his surprise it's neither. It is a tall man with a weird white hair strip. Even though he knows it's rude to stare at someone, he stared at the weird man and the weird man stare back at him. It is not a contest but something in Tim has the feeling of "if you look away, you lose" and Tim hates losing.
The weird man breaks the stare first making Tim proud of himself.
"You are too little for an eight-year old, Replacement." The weird man said.
Replacement? Who? Him? Timothy? The audacity to call him a replacement? If Timothy replace him and he might be not good enough then.
Tim smiled, "And you look a lot like a skunk but you don't hear me complain, right?" he said, then he sniffed the air, "And also you smell like one."
"What the fuck, Replacement?"
"Language, Mr. Butler doesn't like swearing." Tim said as he went back to his book.
"Ah nuh uh, this is my place, Replacement."
"I don't see your name anywhere here, Mr. Weird Man." Tim said but not breaking his eye contact on his book.
"I will count to three and if you don't het your ass out of here, I swear to God, Replacement."
"You kept on calling me "Replacement", maybe if you use your little brain of yours, you might find a conclusion that if an eight-year old can replace your big body, you might have a skill issue, but hey, that might be too much for your little brain." Tim shrugged.
"One."
"Try me."
"Two."
"..."
"Three." and with three, Tim's body got flown across the room. Tim was shocked, he can see the weird man smug face, but he can make it to his favour. He pushed out his tears out of his eyes and loudly wailed. Mr. Butler hate to see him sad, he doesn't know why but he can put it in his advantage.
And within 15 seconds of his wailing, Mr. Butler appeared, looking for the boy that was still laying on the floor, cheeks are red and his arms are a little bit bruised. Mr. Butler look at the weird man with a neautral face.
"Alfred, I swear it doesn't what it looks like." The weird man defended himself but Tim is not gonna give him a chance and shouted, "He threw me!" and he wailed even louder, his knees are even now hurting.
"I thought I raised you better than this, Master Jason." Mr. Butler just shook his head, "Come on, Master Timothy. Let me patch you up."
"Carry me, please?" Timothy looks at Mr. Butler with his wide eyes still filled with tears and his lips are wobbling as he put his hands up. And with no words, Mr. Butler carried him with ease. Timothy snuggled at the old man's neck, he sniffled a little and gave the weird man a middle finger, it's bad but the shocked face of the weird man is satisfying.
++++++++++
"That is a goblin, Bruce." Jason said as he watched Replacement cling to his not so legal adoptive father.
"Kids are just honest, Jason. Dick too said a lot of harsh words back when he was eight." Bruce defended Timothy as Timothy keep on touching Bruce face by gently smacking it then giggling.
"Yeah, sure. Kids are mean, we already established that, I mean have you seen Damian?" Jason snorted, "But that goblin is a lot worse than Damian and that says a lot."
"We know, Little Wing. The first time this Tim meet Damian, he managed to made Damian cry." Dick said as he spawned out of nowhere. "But he was just a cutie little thing, aren't you?" Dick cooed to Timothy and Timothy giggled.
"Okay, first of all, where the hell you come from and second, that kid made the demon cry?" Jason was shocked, the kid did made the impossible. He didn't think Al Ghuls actually can cry and that little shit actually did.
"Yes, with that incident, Damian has become more elusive to Tim. The manor has been the most peace it had since." Bruce said as he keeps Tim stay still to his arms. "And also Jason, Roy's daughter is the same age as Tim right now, right?"

what is the Robin timeline in ur headverse? Like what’s the order and where do they end up later in the timeline? (also love ur art its amazing)
okay, stick with me, this is a journey:
Bruce wasn't the first Batman in the headverse, that was an OC named Dr. Aloysius Flying Fox (later just Aloysius Fox). His Robin was John Blake, who's thus first by technicality. Al and John are the headverse's Golden Age Batman and Robin, with a weakened Zod as the Golden Age Superman and Diana back in her role as Golden Age WW since she was born in 1900 as a Century Baby.
Once Bruce becomes Batman, the order of Robins is:
Dick Grayson (adopted as preteen, trains for a year or so and debuts as Robin) who becomes Nightwing around the time he's 18, using a name of Kryptonian animal and a Kandorian bodysuit gifted to him by Clark, giving him a little extra protection even against superhuman foes.
Jason Todd comes on after Dick's moved to San Francisco/Jump City full time with the Titans but before he's Nightwing. He's older than Dick was when he started (so 14-15) and only gets a year or two before Joker kills him. He's revived shortly after by the League of Assassins and trained in the ways of the All-Caste. He returns to Gotham as the Red Hood before completing his training, which causes problems for his Outlaws down the line.
After the incident with Jason, there's a gap where Bruce is mostly operating solo (barring team-ups with other established heroes). Tim, Steph, and Cass all come crashing into his life around the same time after Dick's become Nightwing but before Jason return. Tim is Robin, Steph is Spoiler and Cass is Orphan, but Steph and Cass become a second Robin and Batgirl shortly after coming up the Batman's aegis.
After Jason's return, Tim is Red Robin, Steph and Cass are both Batgirl (barring Cass's time undercover as Kasumi), at which point Damian enters the picture and the whole dynamic blows up. Once everything's kind of settled, Damian is Robin.
Then Crisis Era begins and there's another big shake-up, the functional result of which is the disappearance of the Trinity. This Era is defined by reality breaking apart as a result of various Meta-Cosmic beings (The Hands and The Eyes, Monitors and Looker, Pariah, Old and New Gods, etc) all fighting to survive Perpetua and The King of Tears attempting to resurrect Ultra the Hunter.
Dick and Damian continue on as Batman and Robin for some time. Carrie Kelley is active as Robin as well, but she's from a timeline create and destroyed during the Crisis, so she mostly operates independent of the larger Bat-Family. Jace Fox discovers Aloysius's history as the Lost Batman of Gotham's Golden Age and simultaneously operates as Batman of the Cinderella City (New York).
Dick eventually leaves the mantle, Damian becomes the Outsider, and Jace and his sister Tam operate as Batman and Robin. Cass is the new Batwoman, with Vivian Vale (oc) as Batgirl and Cheyenne Fremont as Nightwing. Steph is Oracle with assists from Barbara. Tim survives being captured by Joker and then splits his costumed adventures between the Black Ace Joker and the Batman Who Laughs.
From there is a jump to the Beyond Era and the emergence of Terrence McGinnis, unknowingly a result of Waller's work to create a reliable Batman of her own, who then bonds with an abandoned picotech symbio-suit being maintained by an older Jace.
Duke's present through the timeline, but as a Monitor-level metahuman, he's sort of on his own trajectory. Harper is concurrent with Steph, Cass, and Tim, all of whom are involved with a Talon using the pseudonym "Turner Hayes" before being revealed as an undead Dexter Dent. Dex is briefly Robin under James Gordon Jr, Waller's first attempt at having a Batman of her own.
Maps Mizoguchi is in here somewhere, probably concurrent with Damian and Carrie during the Crisis. She eventually becomes Meridian (uh, current BoP spoilers I guess).
Jenny Wren claims to be the First Robin but she's just one of Aloysius and John's rogues who became a Talon but got her memory scrambled.
I think I originally had a young Helena Bertinelli as Robin concurrent with Dick to retroactively justify Helena Wayne being named after her, but idk if I'm keeping that or it really makes sense. Otherwise she's Kate Kate's Robin before becoming Huntress. Helena Wayne follows a similar trajectory, but becomes Batman between Cass and Jace but before Terri and Elaina (Dick's daughter with [redacted] and briefly one of the Red X's).
Jarro...exists.
I...think that's everyone?

Personal headcanon of the ages/timeline in the batfamily
I've been trying to make some sense of the batfamily's ages and the timeline of like how long it has been since Batman has had a Robin. I've never read the comics and my knowledge of the batfamily comes from one or two animated batman movies, fanfiction, metas, and the fandom wiki. I know in the new 52, Bruce has been Batman for about 5 years. But like, it kinda doesn't make sense to me considering he has had quite the number of robins already.
There are a few consistent ages I've seen so far in the fandom like Tim discovers Batman and Robin's identity at 9 years old, Jason dies at 15, Damian becomes Robin at 10 and Bruce dies when Tim is or about to become 17, Bruce Wayne becomes an orphan at 8 years old.
So here's how I personally age the batfamily members:
Bruce Wayne becomes Batman at 25
Bruce adopts Dick three years later
Dick is 11 when he's adopted and 12 when he becomes Robin, so Dick and Bruce has an age gap of 16 years
Barbara is older than Dick by a year or two
Tim is 2 when the Graysons die, his age gap with Dick would be 9 years
If Damian wasn't grown in a lab, he could be conceived when Dick was 16
Tim discovers Robin I's identity at 9 years old
A few months or weeks after Tim discovers their identities, Dick leaves Gotham at 18
A few months or weeks later, Jason steals the Batmobile's tires at 11 and becomes Robin when he was 12. His age gap with Dick is about 7-8 years
Jason dies when he's 15
Tim becomes Robin months later at age 13, so Jason and Tim have an age gap of 2-3 years
Cassandra is the same age as Jason and gets adopted when she was 16
Stephanie is barely a year older than Tim.
Jason is resurrected and goes back to Gotham two-three years after his death then beats up Tim who was 15-16
Bruce "dies" when Tim is 17 and Damian is 10
Duke is adopted at 16 and Damian was 12 at that time
As much as I love Old Man Bruce, my head can't wrap with the idea that a 50 year old is doing the things Batman does. Plus I like the idea that Dick and Bruce has an age gap similar to Dick and Damian since the latter pair has quite the paternal feeling to their relationship, canon or not.
In some of the things I've read, Dick was aged to as young as 8 years old when he's adopted. However, because we have canon ages for when Tim finds out about their identities and when Bruce dies, I aged Dick at 11 and Tim 2, the trauma from the night could sear the memories into Tim's mind even if he's 2 years old.
I like the idea that Dick left for college or when he's in freshman year of college when Tim just found out about their identities. I think Dick would leave when he's 18 and legal and not a year younger so that Bruce has zero reasons to force him to stay
I got Jason's age in a wiki, I can't remember if it was for New 52, initially, I thought maybe Jason should be 12 when he's adopted but then it made me sad thinking about how it would be such a short Robin run for someone who believed Robin is magic. It's a good tragedy but I'm not here for it. Plus, I want to have Tim be attached to Jason's Robin more.

I was legit saying to myself, “oh I’m gonna make sure I’m not complaining or ranting when I post something because I want this to be a positive blog.”
THEN TUMBLR HAD TO SHOW ME A JAYT*M POSTTTTT
I don’t care who you are, where you live, or what you like if you don’t think that is inc*stuous/immoral Imma need you to go ahead and get off tumblr take that TikTok please and thank you.
“They’re adopted so it’s okay” Ummm NO adopted siblings ARE siblings, legally, emotionally, physically. They were raised by the same man for a good portion of their life and he adopted each of them legally or otherwise
Also when they first met Jason tried to murk Tim???
And literally most of the Batfam members have nicely sized aged gaps like you wanna ship him with his older BROTHER who was 17-18 when they met NAHHHHH FAM
Dick and Jason met when Jason was 12-13 to Dick’s 17-18 that’s quite literally gr*oming
Tim and Jason met Tim was 15 Jason was 18-19 and tried to murder him TOXIC and more gr**ming (the attempted murder hasn’t even been properly addressed between them)
Tim and Damian are at least SIX YEARS APART and they can’t STAND each other
DICK IS LITERALLY DAMIAN’S FATHER FIGURE AND OLD ENOUGH TO HAVE BEEN HIS BIO PARENT
and the trump card (not at all associated with Donald Trump)
BRUCE FREAKING WAYNE IS 16 FREAKING YEARS OLDER THAN DICK GRAYSON HE RAISED HIM 🤢🤢🤢🤢
If you partake in any of these ships or any combination of ships between the aforementioned characters; you are by definition, perverted. But thank you for reminding me that I forgot to block those tags 😁😁😁

Ghosts from the past Chapter 4
Jazz blushes as Danny's harsh language. "Jason?" Bruce asks as Jazz fiddles with her hair for a moment. "Danny is Jason's biological little brother." Jazz starts as she takes a deep breath. "Danny got adopted by my parents, the Fenton's, at age four, when Danny was 14, my parents built a portal into another dimension called the ghost zone, cause they're ghost hunters. However it, it didn't work. So Danny, being the brilliant idiot he is, walked into it. The portal turned him half ghost. A year later he decided to tell the Fentons." Jazz says as everything falls out of her mouth. "They, god, they nearly killed him all the way. Even told the GIW, the government's secret ghost ward, that under the echo acts can do whatever they need to do to Ecto-Entities. When I was on a weekend visit I figured it out and got Danny out of there, and then the god of time de-aged Danny to protect him and we moved to Gotham." Jazz says, tears falling down her cheeks. "But why is this legal?" Tim asks as jazz wipes her face. "The anti-Ecto Acts, they say ghosts aren't sentient beings, that they're just leftover human emotion mixed with ectoplasm, but that's simply not true. They have their own dimension, their own laws, and ruler, and they are sentient beings." Jazz says as the bats and birds seem to get angry on the two new friends' behalf. "Jazz, in order to take this to the justice league, I need to meet this ruler and have a sit down with them, so we can begin diplomatic proceedings," Bruce says as Jazz lets out a gargled laugh. "I just sent him away with your kid." Jazz says as Bruce nods. "I see, so, let me get this right, the government believes these ghosts aren't sentient and have thusly experimented on the ruler of another dimension." Bruce says as jazz nods "Yes, sir, that is correct." Jazz says as she hears Danny giggle. "And said ruler is a child." Bruce says as Jazz sucks in a breath. "That's where it gets complicated. While Danny may look like a four-year-old, in reality he is 16, ad sometimes he'll remember that, and other times he truly is a little child." Jazz says, as Bruce nods. "How old was he when they did their experimentations?" Bruce asks. "15, he had just turned 15." Jazz whispers, as someone hands her a tissue. "This is going to be a long process, Jasmine, but I promise, we will get you and Danny justice," Bruce says as Jazz starts full on crying now.
"Billy he's a kid!" Jon says as the four teenagers gather around the four-year-old. "I'm a King!" Danny says proudly as he yawns. "Yeah, yeah, king of the ghosts." Collin says, as they play video games. Danny was beating them at every game they played, how, no one knew, and Danny refused to tell them. "I'm bored." Danny whines after the 13 round of Mario kart. "I think it may be your bed time, Danny." Jason says in the doorway. "JJ!" The little one screams, as he runs towards his brother. "JJ, I not tiwed." Danny says as Jason picks him up. "Thank you guys for watching him for a bit." Jason says as the boys nods
"JJ, I 'on't want to go to bed!" Danny whines as Jason carries downstairs to Jazz. "Jazz!" Danny says, as Jazz smiles. "Danny, you should be asleep." Jazz says, making Danny frown. "Noooo!" He whines, wiggling until Jason lets him go. "Gotta catch me first." Danny says, going invisible as Jazz groans. "Danny, no powers!" Jazz chastises as Tim looks down at his legs. "Danny?" He asks, as his shoes get tied together and he gets pushed into Jazz. "Sorry, Tim." Jazz says, righting the boy as she tries to follow Danny. "Mister danny, I have cookies." Alfred says,as the tired little boy shows himself besides Alfred. "Cookies?" Danny asks, as Jazz sighs. "Thank god for Alfred." Jazz whispers, making Jason laugh.

Age Chart/ Timeline
Tumblr media
This is the chart that actually kickstarted me into writing down a fic idea. And share it. So here it is, ill put the link to the other main posts down below:
[Concept] [Extra Notes]
Bruce left to train at 18, came back and became Batman at 22, and adopted Dick a year later.
Because of Jasons… Living Impairment, i didn't count the year between the resurrection as him aging. So despite being born around the same time as Danny, he is now a year younger.
In order to get by- Danny told everyone he was two years older than he actually was, the only person who knows the truth is Jason. Not even the batfam finds out until much later.
Tims age was the most difficult to figure out. No one has ever been consistent about it. He was supposed to be a toddler at the Flying Graysons last performance and 9 years old when he figured out who Robin was but he was still like. 15 or 17 When he became the world's youngest CEO after Bruce died? I'm pretty sure. He's also supposed to be younger than Jason. So. This is what I've figured out. This does mean he wasn't alive during the Graysons death. But maybe Jack Drake was recording it all or something and young unsupervised Timmy ended up watching it.
For the oc twins, I didn't add them to this chart for two reasons. 1) They are OC’s and while I've grown attached to them and think they add a good dimension to this story, I know OC’s like this are not everyone's cup of tea. 2) They are only a year younger than Damian, and putting their ages down felt too repetitive.

Something I've half noticed is that in the DC x DP fandom, Danny gets shipped with....everyone? Like I've seen him paired off with Jason and Damien most often i think, but also with Dick and Bruce. Just feels surprising. (also only dude? Huh)
Where do you land on this? Do you ship him with anyone in particular? Care to share your thoughts on this?
Tumblr media
I was also surprised by this when I first joined the batphandom. I’m so used to other fandoms that have strict pairings, with little deviation and so few rairpairs.
But I really enjoy this aspect of the crossover. It’s fun to explore different character dynamics and stages of life. I think it comes from two things.
1. Batman and DC is old. There’s 89 years worth of material to cherry pick from, and EVERYONE has their own favorite era, storylines, and characters. It doesn’t matter how you characterize any of them because it will always be canon somewhere throughout the years. And there’s so many plots to explore you’ll never run out of material.
2. Danny Phantom is complete. The show ended 16 years ago, which means the people viewing it originally on Nickelodeon (me) are generally around age 30. So we relate to more adult characters like Bruce, Dick, and maybe Jason, but still feel connected to our childhood emotions through the canon-young characters so shipping Danny with Tim or Damian still makes perfect sense because of their canon ages.
Another aspect is that these characters rarely age within their own canons, so it’s easy to keep them as-is, or say “hey I grew up and I wanna make Danny grow up too.”
Danny is my age. He was just 14 in 2004 when the show started, and I was barely 15, so I grew up with him. I also grew up with Tim being Robin in Batman: the Animated Show, so pairing them makes sense to me age-wise, but these are also fantastic fictions that never overlapped so the timeline they exist in is nebulous.
It helps that Danny fits every trope of being a Robin. Young, sassy, jumps in to fight without guidance, black hair blue eyes, puns for days, near/full death experiences, and a vampire themed billionaire with a basement lab who’s trying to adopt him. Like… *waves hands around*
Honestly? I missed this kind of Fav Character Being Shipped With Everyone mood we got in the early days of Harry Potter. There’s so many characters to choose from that its just fun to explore. Having strict parings reduces creativity imo, so joining this fandom and getting an explosion of options is refreshing.
As for Danny just being shipped with guys in the DC universe? Yeah, I’ve never seen him shipped with Steph or Cass or Babs. Part of it is an outcome of misogyny. The male characters are more fleshed out and focused on by the comic writers. They’re better advertised and showcased in more tv and movies. The women are neglected so they aren’t as widely known unless you seek out their comic runs on purpose. Very few are even shown in the animated movies, which is where the most frequently used story lines come from for fandom. (Or at least that’s my experience.)
And fandom is just super gay. Fic was the only way to get good queer relationships and representation for so long (still is imo), that straight pairings aren’t common or are overlooked as part of the long term culture.
I don’t have a particular favorite pairing for Danny. My main interest in fiction is character growth, so I look for plot driven fics, or hurt/comfort, or found family.
Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.
Do you have a favorite pairing? Or have you seen a good Steph/Danny fic? Cuz that’s a rairpair I could get behind.

I have a sort of love/hate relationship with Titans (the series on HBO Max) because:
On one hand I could literally not imagine anyone better to play any of these characters like Brenton Thwaites is peak Dick energy and Curran Walters makes baby asshole Jason look easy and Iain Glen is perfect Bruce material and Joshua Orpin gives off Superman vibes and also manages to make Conner feel young and inexperienced etc. There's also a good dynamic between most of the characters and they help each other out and they showing that they're people. They're people with problems and secrets and struggles, sure, but they're people. And they care. About each other. About the world. And the series shows that.
But. It also frustrates me to no end. Incoming huge rant, btw.
(warning- lots of spoilers for the show, mostly season 3 cuz that's where I have most of my beef with, and also i haven't watched s4)
Usually because of little -mostly Batman related- things that aren't really noticable to people not really into DC but are there nonetheless like: Dick is not his fucking legal name. It's Richard. No it's not going to say Dick on legal documents. I'm talking mostly about the episode where he got fucking arrested and they pulled up his file (and showed his passport to I think). Also his middle name is fucking John, people, not that hard to look up. (I'm pretty sure they do the same thing with Jason and make his middle name something completely random, but I'm sure in most if not all canons it's Peter). Just. Richard John Grayson. It's not that hard 🙄🤚 Nobody who is either not close to him or has no sense of boundaries will call him Dick. His (adoptive) father is Bruce MF Wayne. Richard, Mr. Grayson, Mr. Grayson-Wayne, whatever that canon is making his last name, that is what they will call him out of RESPECT, if not to him, to the one name everyone in Gotham knows.
Bruce's age is another thing. I have absolutely nothing against Iain Glen, pretty amazing Bruce, but your telling me Bruce is how old? Iain is 61. Like. I'm pretty sure he adopts Dick in his 20's. It's not him being an experienced adult. He's still young. So he WILL screw up. As a person and as a parent. Same thing for the young Dick flashbacks, like, an eight year old from a circus definitely would not know how to drive a car. I do love how he started off on the path of vengeance, because as a "darker" show, Titans is meant to highlight those parts of him hidden by traffic light colors and puns, but one of his things is that he's pretty much the age Bruce was when his parents died. The kid in the show was no younger than 13 in his earliest flashbacks (again, same with Jason and Tim. These kids showed up looking like high school graduates, which, sure, is young to be starting a life of crime-fighting, but you gotta remember that Jason died at 15 in the comics, and Tim never even graduated).
Another thing is, I really do want the show to introduce Damian, but I doubt that this version of Bruce would be able to raise a kid ever again, probably doesn't trust himself enough to, plus he's like in his 50's so either he had Dami really late or he -like the rest of the bat-fam so far- is really aged up when he starts his whole Robin thing, which also kinda worries me because Tim barely got introduced in the 3rd season and I think he will be Robin in the 4th, so I heavily doubt we'll get murder baby 10 year old-ish Damian. And while being young isn't all Damian is, it's a little crucial to his story because you see an adult who was trained to be a killer and you see them as dangerous, sure, but an adult. Actually seeing, witnessing a child being a murder weapon, knowing that that is all their childhood was, that is pretty twisted.
Also I feel like Dick's whole "prison arc" schtick just wasn't him because dude's whole thing was "adopting strays" and he just up and left a whole ass kid in charge of a tower and a comatose patient & got himself thrown into prison on purpose. Nuh uh. If there's one thing that separated Dick and Bruce personality-wise, I think it's that Dick is the one who helps and loves people from the bottom of his heart. Bruce does love people, but he doesn't know communication or where to draw the line between work and personal life. Dick also has that same problem and we see it, he knows it and resents it because he knows that's a *Bruce* trait, but he on the other hand has a support system, people who care and help. Because that's what the Titans is. And Dick wouldn't up and abandon that for anything.
Again with Bruce, I know fighting crime isn't the best way to raise a child, and that giving a traumatized child deadly weapons to fight their inner demons will leave scars, but I wholeheartedly believe that Bruce was trying to be a good parent. In the show, he's really no more than a mentor. The most emotion I've seen is AFTER Dick becomes Nightwing(in one of Dick's flashbacks, he communicated through fucking letters. Dick was practically alone). Same goes for Jason. This was supposed to be another kid Bruce saw himself in, someone lost and alone. And when we saw his computer files on possible future Robins?
Keeping the roll with Bruce, he does things I feel like neither Bruce or Batman would do. Hell, when Jason died, first thing he did was kill the Joker. That is Jason's whole schtick after getting revived‼️His whole problem with Bruce is that he let the Joker live, even after everything, even after his own son died! Nothing changed to Jason! His death didn't mean anything!

Hi, OG Anon of the Tim repeatedly getting pregnant idea!! I am absolutely obsessed with all of the new additions you and others have been coming up with omg it makes me so happy that so many people enjoyed my horny little idea!!
So, we've seen Bruce's perspective, and now Alfred's, and I touched a little bit on Tim's mindset when I first pitched this idea, but where do you think Tim is further down the line? And Bruce, too, for that matter?
Bc I can see Bruce being content with his three bio angel babies, plus loving all of the other children Tim brings into this world. He also finds pregnant Tim so sexy, and takes advantage of his increased libido every time he gets knocked up. The more kids Tim has, the more invested Bruce becomes in the process of how Tim makes them, too, obsessed with seeing Tim get fucked and knocked up by Dick and then later, strangers. Tim has been a terrible influence on him after all of these years (and all of these beloved bastard children).
And then we have Tim, who loves all of his children and loves being pregnant with them even more. He finds certain aspects of pregnancy hotter than others, like the taboo of knowing who all fathered his first seven children (babies 1 and 2 from Bruce, babies 3, 4 and 5 from Jack, baby 6 from Dick, and baby 7 from Bruce again), then the taboo of NOT knowing any of the fathers of the rest of his children (save maybe a baby he has with Damian and/or Jason the first). Having children so young, and so quickly one after the other also gets him incredibly horny, and he's really just such a slut made for nothing but breeding and fucking and child rearing.
(A decade after he gives Bruce his first child, Tim is almost 24 years old and pregnant yet again with his third set of twins, making these babies 14 and 15. He's in surprisingly good health, as are all of his babies, and he has no intentions of stopping anytime soon. Tho they are running out of room in the Manor, but he knows Bruce will find only the best homes for his children, once he decides to start adopting them out)
Other thoughts? I love your take on this idea, and the fact that it's almost it's own little universe makes me so happy!!
tim and bruce living and thriving with a shared breeding kink!!🥰🥰🥰. although it hasn't been dived into, aside from being incredibly sexually compatible i think bruce and tim gettting along very well interpersonally. they hold similar values and dreams for gotham. other than being the mother of his children, i think that bruce also loves tim as his partner. in another world, the way it would've played out was that tim would serve as his support, as his robin, as his co-CEO. in this world tim serves entirely as bruce's homebase his support. the one dedicated to his emotional wellbeing and making sure he remains at the top form needed to be the best version of batman he can be.
before tim, bruce used to have reservations about starting a family. about having children, a lover. he was so certain they would be used against him, they'd be taken from him, leave him once they found out how insufficient he was. but tim stayed. after jason was born he had the option to leave him and bruce behind but he stayed and he begged bruce for more. and while he outwardly tried to resist, internally he was so happy.
bruce doesn't become consumed by fear of the thought of tim or any of his children being used against him. instead, he grows more determined. more determined to make his city the safest place, more determined to safeguard the manor so its impenetrable. he reaches out to other heroes for their help to do that. he'd been so stuck on his one-man crusade he'd never done that before. but tim convinced him to. they help. that shocks him more than anything.
zatanna puts wards on his home and around gotham in the case of magical attacks. aquaman puts guards in gotham's bays and waters and they coordinate to take down ships carrying drugs and arms before they can enter the city. superman does weekly flyovers which does more the scare the petty criminals lurking out than anything that bruce had done so far.
and every night, bruce retires home where his children are happy to see him and his lover wife partner angel tim is waiting for him. every night they make love and every night tim begs him to gift him another child even when he's already full with burgeoning life. after a decade of children and pregnancies, bruce only grows a bit worried about the increasingly limited space. the nursery is kept the same. at max there's always a few babies that require it before they grow old enough to move to the room for the toddlers and after that for their own room. wayne manor was designed by bruce's great great great something or other grandfather, Robert Billy Wayne. he had some unspoken rivalry with the Vanderbilts and tried to outdo them by constructing a marvel of a house hosting 30 bedrooms, 40 bathrooms, and 60 fireplaces. poor poor grandpa bobby died before he could be outdone by the Biltmore House finished on Christmas Eve just a decade later. The Wayne's had lost their shortly held title of owning the largest "home" in America to the Vanderbilts and it had remained like that until Bruce contacted several architects, inquiring about adding expansions to the mansion. Thirty rooms were often more than enough. The Waynes rarely ever had anything other than a single baby that they'd pass on everything to. Thirty rooms had been overkill when Grandpa Bobby first conceived the idea, and most people in Gotham thought it was overkill when they heard that Wayne Manor would be undergoing construction for the first time since it was completed in 1885 (aside from some remodeling needed after a particularly wild New Years Party in 1923).
But if Bruce was going to fit his family into their home he was going to need to make some changes. a few of the fathers of tim's children had tried coming out of the woodwork, they'd tried staking some weak claim about custody and child support but bruce had quickly fixed that and his children, all his children remained at his side. tim is insatiable, and as bruce grows older he can't keep up as much as tim who's entering the prime of his life. tim's womb has been home to so many children, children who carry his name. tim has expressed worry, distress about the room's about his babies not being able to have their own space. a few of them choose to share. some of the twins opting to remain close together and others preferring to keep their personal space. tim is still young and bruce knows that 69 children is the record for most children birthed by one person and for a moment bruce imagines tim his age. older, refined and aged like a particularly sweet dessert wine. and it fills bruce with such arousal he takes tim right there, in the middle of the office where they're looking over the designs for new bedroom additions. tim is so perfect so perfect for giving him children. he's built for it with a soft face, wide hips, and full chest that grew bigger as he grew up. there's hardly a moment where a baby isn't latched to him and nursing from their mother's plentiful supply of milk. bruce has tasted it a bit, he couldn't resist seeing those full tits getting jostled with the movements of his fucking.
tim had been making murmurs soft noises about possibly adopting out his babies, finding them good homes where they'll be loved and have room to grow. if it was room they needed then bruce would simply make more, he'd care out as many stretches of earth as needed to provide. tim loved carrying his children, he loved holding them in his arms, and covering them in kisses and whispers of love and devotion.
bruce loved them as well. whether they looked like him, like tim, or some third mix that couldn't be traced back to dick, jason, or damian. (one of his babies was starting to float and bruce thought back to the summer they visited the kent farm and both clark and kon had blushed and looked away from timothy in that fitting blue cotton dress. he'd returned to bruce one evening with hay in his hair and rumpled clothing and bruce had just given his waist a soft squeeze and fucked him even harder that night to see if his progeny would outrace a Kryptonian's)
bruce thinks of tim's tentative idea and cannot stand the possibility of losing a single child. bruce will make as many additions as needed to the manor. he'll make Gotham as safe as can for his children until they never have to feel the terror or fear he once did.
and as he grows older, as his body wanes on its virlity, he holds tim's hand, intertwines their fingers together and kisses his full cheeks as he's fucked as deeply as he needs to be for it to take. sometimes it's dick, on occasion it's jason. a few times it's even damian. when they're all busy, however, bruce allows for acquaintances to relieve their stress and grant tim his newest addition to the family. tim is addicting. his body so plush and soft, unscarred from the hardships of a vigilante's life (even though bruce has taught him to defend himself on the small, off chance that a threat ever reached him) and bruce knows they feel the same thing he did when they enter him. when they feel his gasps and soft kisses to their faces. when his smooth, small hands cup their rough jaws and beg them to cum inside, to put a baby in him.
bruce watches as they shiver at the words, as a tremble passes through their spines and they shove tim down and press deep into him, as deep as they can go. until their balls clench where they're pressed to tim's pussy and they cum with deep, drawn out groans that are echoed by tim's sweet, satisfied moans.
bruce knows how many of them are born from him. he can tell the moment they're in his arms. but his love doesn't falter for any of the others, even when fathers like dick or jason or other heroes who pop in with an occasional present. many of them never stay long, they feel they can't remain because their dedication to the cause is as binding as bruce's but there's a difference between them. they don't have tim at their sides.
bruce knows that his children make multiple father's days cards for multiple people, and he cherishes each one he gets.
bruce may not be able to give tim all the babies he wants, all the babies he needs. but he can be there for every step of the way. from when they're conceived, to when they're born, to holding them as they take their first steps and grow big enough to get their own room in the newly furnished wing of the manor.
a manor that now houses 60 total bedrooms, 50 bathrooms, and 75 fireplaces.
grandpa bobby would be ecstatic.
----
i definitely think that bruce and tim would get into cuckolding when bruce's performance starts waning (he can only cum one a day and he can either masturbate or save it for tim, so he saves it for tim because he loves him 🥰) still tim is insatiable and needs more. so as bruce has learned to do over the years, he outsources his help 💖💖💖
also "grandpa bobby" is just a combination of bob kane and bill finger's names because i'm not very clever with names haha

Wouldn’t it be funny if in a Reverse!Robins AU, the adoption order is still the same.
Dick, 9, just lost his parents was taken in as Bruce Wayne first adoptee. Now here is where things get a little more. Sketchy.
Maybe a year into getting Dick and having Robin, Bruce stumbles across Jason, aged 13 and decides to take him in as well as per the usual storyline. But now that Dick’s the younger brother, he’s not too psyched about getting an older brother, especially one who looks like would be a replacement. This would create tension between the boys, but since Jason is older, he makes the first move and probably put in effort to get to know Dick better and would also be more tolerant of course. He’d probably also be hyper-vigilant against Bruce for the first couple of days since he’s seen things on the streets and rich men don’t take in young boys so easily, with no strings attached.
Dick warms up to him eventually, and they become great friends. Of course, soon enough Jason is clamouring to join the crusade, and cites that since ROBIN is so much younger, shouldn’t Jason also be allowed to help? Batman capitulates as per usual and thus comes in Hood cuz he let Robin name him and Dick wanted matching names. Get it? “Robin” and “Hood”. XD
Dick still starts the Teen Titans, while Jason mostly sticks to himself, going on occasional missions with the titans and stuff. The team finds it hilarious how Robin bosses his big brother around cuz he’s “more experienced”.
A few years pass and Dick is now 12, Jason is 15, when 19-year-old Tim Drake knocks on their door and starts talking about Owls of all things and how they’re gearing up to kidnap Dick to be their “Gray Son” whatever that means. Batman is put on alert, Dick is benched/sent to the Teen Titans. Tim starts laying out all the evidence and it’s as they are finishing up the arrests that Batman offers (ofc he knew Tim’s home life but since he’s technically legal, can’t really do anything about it), to let Tim stay at the manor for the foreseeable future. Tim rejects it, but eventually, over time and Dick’s persistent curiosity, Tim starts spending time at the manor and now Dick has 2 older brothers. Tim becomes maybe Drake? Idk but he’d probably more a tech specialist rather than fighting front lines since he’s had less time to learn how to fight, even if he’s taken a few self-defence classes when he was younger.
Of course, another couple years, Dick is 14, Jason is 17, Tim is 21, and suddenly Bruce is confronted with his 23-year-old biological son, Damian Wayne, who’s been on the run from the League of Assassins for the past two years and had managed to finally reach Gotham where the league would not be able to touch him. And in tow, is Cassandra, who is 18, and had helped him escape. They met as teens and both decided that the assassin life wasn’t for them. It took a years of planning but they managed to escape and reach the Bat. Damian, on principle, hates both Tim and Jason for usurping his rightful place. He wants to hate dick, but dick reminds him of all the small animals he had taken care of and then had to ruthlessly dispose of so he has a soft spot for Dick; Dick, of course, takes ruthless advantage of this and acclimated Damian to surprise hugs and the like very quickly. Cassandra takes a while more, but with her expertise in body language, she trusts them much quicker than Damian did.
Dick is so smugly satisfied that now he has so many older siblings to boss around since he’s still the “most experienced” in the vigilante business…
Might continue this thread, but pls someone, write me a fic of this idea. I’m begging. If not I might have to resort to feeding myself… TnT

APPLAUD ME FOR THIS
I FIGURED OUT THE BATFAMILY AGES and here is my thought process: (disclaimer: if you don’t like it then suck it) and also i might be wrong
(edit: I rephrased a few things and took out keboard smashes so its somehwat easier to understand)
Bruce became batman when he was twenty-five (25) - and I know that some people want to say 22 because this way things work out nicer, but yeah. He was 25.
He took in Dick when he [Dick] was nine (9) years old, even though he looks older than that in his first appereance (detective comics #38), but we're going to stick with nine, even tho new 52 says 15, and others say 12 (because reboots suck <3)
SO DICK AND BRUCE (if we’re assuming that Bruce adopted Dick at the age of 25, and please let’s just do) HAVE AN AGE GAP OF SIXTEEN  (16) YEARS.
Dick was Robin when he was in college, and then he became nightwing (discowing) when he was 19 (ish, but then again, everything in this post is -ish)
Around this time, with Dick being off queerbaiting people, Jason came in. And I’m not sure exactly how old Dick was then, but he was still in the discowing costume, so I’m going to say he’s 19-20 (still).
And Jason was 12 when he was taken in by Bruce, with the whole Ma gunn’s school for boys crap. Bruce wouldn’t send in a nine year old.
Jason (12) and Dick (19) have an age gap of seven (7) years.
Jason and Bruce have one of 25 years. Which DOES make sense, with Jason being born around the time Bruce became Batman.
Jason died when he was 15, and around this time (perhaps a few months later), Tim Drake went all “Batman needs a robin!” (but in a much more creepy way, you know), and at THAT time, he was... what, 12? Yeah. Let’s say 12.
Tim and Jason (who was like 15 3/4) have an age gap of three (3) years.
Tim and Dick (who was 22 when Jason died, aka when tim showed up) have an age hap of TEN years. DISCLAIMER!!! THE WHOLE ‘tim was there when dick’s parents died’ makes NO SENSE in ANY WAY AT ALL. because if tim was three, as most say, then dick was 9, and they’d have an age gap of...6 years... and then dick would be 18.... and tim would be 12.... and dick was still robin.... and that makes no sense because at this time jason was JUST ABOUT to appear in the scene, and THREE YEARS PASSED after jason was in the scene, so no sorry <3
tim and bruce have an age gap of,,, 26-27 years... i think i’m doing the math right....
In Tim’s red Robin run, he’s like 16, let’s PLEASE SAY 16 because 16-year-old CEO and blah blah blah
at that SAME TIME, Steph was starting college, so she was 17-18. Steph is older than tim, but just by like,,, a year or a bit more.
But ANYWAYS IN STEPH’S RUN there’s Damian and Damian is around TEN so Steph and Damian have a like 7-year difference, or so.
Damian and Tim have an age gap of six (6) years
Damian and Jason have an age gap of nine (9) years.
Damian and Dick (who was batman at the time, because Bruce was stuck in time or some shit) have an age gap of sixteen (16) years (the same age gap that bruce and dick have which is cool)
Damian and Bruce then have an age gap of 32. So like Bruce went out for dick (lowercase) while Dick (Grayson) was Robin.
(and i KNOW that duke and cass are around steph/jason’s age, but I don’t know much for sure and it pisses me off BUT cass is older than steph because cass wore the batgirl costume when she was 17, BUT THEN steph used cass’s batgirl costume as well because ‘cass didn’t need it anymore’ so yeah and steph was 17-18 SO LIKE they’re the same age or cass is oder by a bit)
So around right now, the ages are (sortaish)-
Damian is 14. Because Jon was said to be 11 before he went to space and got fucked up. (i want to say damian’s closer to 15 actually but then i feel like not yet)- and we don’t know what the fuck is gonna happen in his run in april so let’s see how that goes.
This would make Tim 20. And i KNOW that some people go ‘oh he’s 16 he’ll be forever 16′ and i GET IT. i do. But i’m doing the math.
This makes Steph around 21. Duke probably 21. (I think)
And because Tim is 20, Jason is 23. Which is nice.
Cass was said to be older than Jason by around six months so she’s around 23-24.
This makes Dick (Grayson) 30. And honestly I don’t get how it’s hard to admit??? Like he’s thirty let him be thirty.
So Barbara is around 31-32 (I’m not sure) But she’s in her early thirties
And Bruce is in his mid-40s so. Let that sink in.

Damian looks always switch out between Talia, Martha and Bruce.
I reel like Bruce looks like Martha more, and so sometimes Damian looks like Talia more.
Damian has marthas curved nose and Talias cheekbones and More of his mother and grandmothers look in the face.
Not only that but Damian starts to look like his mother every Year, he has some years looking like a spitting image of Bruce but some He looks just like Talia.
It’s like if you look at him in some lighting he looks like Bruce but if he steps into another lighting he looks EXACLY like Talia.
And it confuses the family on who he actually looks like, they have a game where the put Dami into different lighting and vote who he looks like in that particular lighting.
Bruce thinks it’s crazy on how much Dami will look like him or just his mother. There is barley an in between.
When Dami is 10-12 he looks a lot like his father, in most lighting he looks like Bruce, and usually that’s just who he looks like. Except in some lightings he will look EXACLY like Talia or Martha.
When he starts hitting puberty, he resembles Talia even more, he stays more Slim then Hunky (I have no other words to describe Bruce’s body tbh).
His hair when he grows it a little longer starts curling, and looks a lot like Martha’s used to. Tim thinks it’s creepy on how Dami looks like three different people, on different days.
At like 16-17 his looking like a twin to his father fades out, he still shares some traits like his Scowl, and his eye brows. But that’s really it.
He resembles more of his female relatives in his family, with just a hint of Bruce sprinkled along.
In his 20s he looks like Bruce once again, but with Talias slim body, but he looks more grown up version of his 10 year old self, because on his teens he was always Experimentone with different hair colors, hair styles, clothing and just different vibe. But he more or less decides to become more mature, then what he was always High from 15-19.
And of course, his Wayne genes, Talia genes couldn’t be even save him from Finding orphans and adopting them, at only 25.

Ultimate What if Ask ahoy;
In your opinion, what if Dick had never been taken in by Bruce Wayne at all after the ‘accident’ at the circus? What would be the consequences for both Dick and Bruce had they never met each other?
Oh, Bruce would die early! Either because Robin wouldn't be there to watch Batman's back at one fateful moment or because he didn't have a reason to stay alive.
And Dick... Well, everybody and their aunt know that I'm not a fan of the Chuck Dixon version from the Robin annual, where Dick was placed in some horrible youth centre. I prefer stories like Batman Year Three, where he spent time at a pretty nice orphanage, or where he's placed with Bruce Wayne straight away because the man has the safest home in Gotham. But in this case, Bruce wouldn't be involved, so Dick would stay longer at an orphanage.
Of course, it could very well end in Dick being killed too - if Zucco & gang wanted to get rid of him as a witness. Or if he got careless, looking for his parents' murderer. (Dick has not done that in every origin story, for instance in BYT. Granted, in several versions, Bruce promised he could help early on so he didn't have to feel he had to go out on his own.)
But if Zucco felt safe enough, especially if Batman didn't go after him, Dick would either stay at the orphanage or be placed with another foster family. Unless he was permitted to stay with the circus; there could be people there who were willing to adopt him, after all.
Then there's the Court of Owls and dear old great grandpa, of course; if your imaginary Dick lives in a world where they exist. The Court in New 52 didn't intend to take him until he was about 15; an eight to ten year old is likely to small and weak for their intentions. The Talon Calvin Rose was approached at the age 13. I guess they'd prefer to wait, even in this scenario. Anyway, I guess a lot of the would-be talons are killed in the process...
Dick being killed before he's an adult is, all things considered, the most likely scenario. But it's nice to imagine a scenario where he survives and can find some constructive outlet for his grief, and without getting grabbed by the Court. Without a vigilante occupation to take most of his focus. "Regular" Dick takes whatever job is convenient because being a vigilante is his priority; non-vigilante Dick would hopefully focus on some occupation where he could help people.
There are very few DC stories that explore what would happen to Dick if he didn't end up with Bruce. I can only think of the BTAS tie-in comic Batman: Gotham Adventures # 33, where Bruce is showed a world where his parents lived, and he never became Batman. There, Dick stayed with the circus and he didn't do well. Both Dick and Tim (the Tim-Jason amalgamation) become crooks in this world.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There was also a what if-story in the Silver age, where Bruce thought Superman had killed his father; when Dick protested, he erased Dick's memory and shipped him to an orphanage. (World's Finest Comics # 153)
