Last time I left Troy unsupervised his truck got flipped into a ditch and he lost a fight with a fucking tree AND THEN Dwight, Frank and Sherry: ... Russell: He tripped into a goddamn trap. You'd think since he was so tall he could see where he was going but NO! Troy with a tree branch still in his shoulder: You're exaggerating Russell: Am I Troy? Am I??

Jake Otto as a brother
so i promised @minimoefoe to write down my thoughts on Jake. I hope I'm being coherent haha, it's all a big jumbled mess in my head that mostly boils down to seethign rage. I definitely hate Jake more than Jeremiah, so make of that what you will.
Jake, to me, seems to have taken on the role of 'the good kid' (you know, the thing that shouldn't happen between siblings, where one takes on the role of the black sheep and by contrast the other is good..) and not only has he taken it on, i mean, you can't really blame a kid for that (as long as the kid is, you know, a kid) but he seems to be have fully embraced that role in s3 where he is all grown up. Which is what really gets to me (he should know better by now).
You see that in all his interactions with Troy. He expects the worst of him, he's annoyed by all that Troy does. In fact, Troy can't win with him (funny how in s3ep8 jake is telling him "Do something!" about the militia being incapacitated etc and then when troy does do something it's still not good enough…). Also note how Troy, in contrast, almost never raises his voice at Jake (except for that one interaction where he's already all irritated/angry about mike leaving). He's mostly mild around Jake and at least I got the sense that he is resigned. Resigned to the fact that Jake will always see the worst in him. He's not even trying to convince him otherwise - so I assume they had several confrontations about that when they were little (actually would have loved to see more of their past relationship, these little hints we get seem so intriguing (eg tell me about the rabbits)).
I think the most hurtful interaction, imho, is when Troy tries to warn him not to go to Taqa to placate him after Troy went and got Alicia back. He seems earnest in his worry over Jake. "Brother, you leave, I don't think you're coming back" Troy tells Jake. And Jake, unable to see anything but confrontation in Troy and all Troy does goes "ask yourself if that would make you happier." Troy doesn't answer, not with words but his face says it all. He closes his mouth, unhappy. Opens it again as if to argue only to - stop. Probably because he knows there's no sense in arguing with Jake about how he sees Troy. He won't get him to change his mind.
Tumblr media
Also, since I rewatched the scene, notice how Troy actually does understand Jake. With the "i think you'd be happy if Walker took your scalp." Jake does seem like the self-sacrificing type (they both do haha, they are brothers after all), like he'd want to die for doing the right thing. Troy gets that about him. Whereas Jake does not seem to even start being able to comprehend Troy. There seems to be too much bitterness on Jake's side for empathy.
And sure, yes they've both grown up in an abusive household, yes, probably Jake was told to look after Troy a lot (so Troy was made his responsibility which is super unfair, absolutely), probably also blamed for when Troy behaved in a way deemed unacceptable (which, given the parents were drunks could be literally ANYTHING e.g. drawing too loudly (an example meant to show their unreasonableness). add to that the fact that Troy was shown to be easily upset (in the video tape in s3ep3 he starts crying when his parents fight), they probably didn't want to deal with him upset/crying, demanding he stop it or demanding jake do something abou it…). So yes, all that is horrible also for jake, an impossible -abusive- situation for both brothers.
Jake should've grown out of it though. He's an adult now but he still can't see past these roles they were given. He probably even still blames it on Troy, like if he were a better child to their parents things would've been easier also on Jake. Why can't Troy never do what he's asked to? Etc etc. And all this colors his interaction with Troy as grown ups. All sympathy he has ever felt for Troy eroded over the years...
And I do think as a kid he was also trying to help Troy and protect him, as he says -though I also think Troy protected Jake. Troy seems like he's very used to dealing with pain, so I definitely think he made sure the ire of his parents fell on him. Kinda playing into the black sheep role, too (like kids tend to do once they've got this role)… anyway so Jake tried to protect him/help him though I think with time the bitterness took over. And that's all he has for Troy now, bitterness and disappointment. And Jake gives himself away. When he says "Ask yourself if that [jake not coming back from trying to placate Taqa] would make you happier" that's not troy's thinking at all. It's HIM, Jake, who'd be happier if Troy went off to some kind of mission (exile) and wouldn't come back.
tl;dr Jake is a shit brother to Troy (while playing the white knight to others -or should that be 'and'- fully embracing the 'good kid' role) and I'll never like him

Troy Otto Relationship Headcanons
Because of course, this boi lives in my head rent free all the time here are a few relationship things I think he would absolutely do:
Tumblr media
- lets you wear his clothes and makes aggressive eye contact at anyone who notices - knows exactly how you like your tea and coffee - has pages of notes about you in his journal - gives you weird gifts (weapons, survival gear, a jar of algae) - always sleeps closest to the door so he can protect you - loves to share pointless facts - gets really fired up when you kill walkers and likes to say things like "that's my girl!" or "look at him go!" - gives you food from his portions that he knows you like - will beat someone bloody for upsetting you, touching you, looking at you funny - constantly observes what you are doing even if it's nothing important - remembers small things about you to use later (such as your favorite color, animal, preferred writing utensil, etc) - likes to give you piggy-back rides - opens up to you about how he's feeling and his troubled past - gives you his jacket if it's even remotely cold - gave you a rabbit's foot charm for your birthday - taught you how to drive manual, laughing whenever you made a mistake - is always surprised when you remember something about him or do something remotely nice, as if it's a much bigger deal than it is - really dramatically opens jars for you - is startled every time you randomly kiss him - over plans holidays/your birthday because he wants everything to go well - aftercare, aftercare, aftercare - always finds a way to touch you (ankle under the table, hand holding, palm at the small of your back, arm around your shoulders)

Favorite Arch Enemies
Beyond all of the ones that I've already covered, anyway.
Tumblr media
The Joker - Here he is, at long last. The man, the legend, the Clown Prince of Crime himself. In my opinion, the Joker is the greatest arch-nemesis in the history of fiction because he compliments his heroic adversary perfectly. Batman is a dark, brooding, frightening figure with a semi-demonic visage, yet he is a hero dedicated to the cause of justice and protecting the innocent citizens of Gotham City. The Joker is a bright, colorful, exuberant and funny clown, something that's supposed to bring joy and laughter to others, yet he is a nihilistic, psychopathic criminal whose only goal in life is to spread death, destruction and chaos through Gotham City because that's what brings him joy and laughter. It's just such a natural conflict: the miserable vigilante vs. the happy murderer, law vs. anarchy, order vs. chaos, hope vs. despair, purpose vs. purposelessness....a battle that is truly timeless, which is why it has endured since 1940. Outside of comic books, the Joker has been depicted masterfully by Cesar Romero, Jack Nicholson, Heath Ledger, Cameron Monaghan, Joaquin Phoenix, Barry Keoghan, Kevin Michael Richardson, Jeff Bennett, Richard Epcar, John DiMaggio, Michael Emerson, Troy Baker, Christopher Corey Smith, Zack Galifianakis, Jeff Bergman, Tony Hale, Alan Tudyk, Mick Wingert.....and of course by Mark Hamill, perhaps his definitive portrayer.
Tumblr media
Doctor Octopus - In the realm of comic book superheroes, Spider-Man's assortment of villains comes second only to Batman's. And his arch-foe is Doctor Otto Octavius, aka "Doc Ock". Octavius is much like Peter Parker, except older, crankier, and much more prideful. Like Peter, he invokes an eight-legged creature - an octopus rather than a spider - and takes it a step further through the usage of four mechanical arms attached to his spine. But while Peter had to learn to put aside his hurt feelings and inflated ego because "with great power comes great responsibility", Ock is more a believer in "with great power comes great domination of everyone weaker". Many of Spider-Man's greatest battles have been against this mad genius who seeks to enforce his sense of superiority upon the world. Actors who have portrayed Ock outside of comics include Vernon Chapman, Stan Jones, Michael Bell, Efrem Zimbalist Jr., Rodger Bumpass, Alfred Molina, Joe Alaskey, Peter MacNicol, Tom Kenny, Scott Menville and William Salyers, with Kathryn Hahn portraying a female version in Into the Spider-Verse.

Troy Otto
if you don't want to read below the cut, scroll down or mute the ftwd spoilers tags because they will be spoilers regarding Troy.
So we already knew our boy Troy was returning, but I had to go down the rabbit hole to see what the people at SDCC saw from the comments since they weren't allowed to film.
Tumblr media
So 1st: it wasn’t a trailer that was shown, but a sneak peak of a scene. Not sure if it will be released, but they might tease things until w’ere closer to when S8B drops. Which is in October 22nd and such a long way to go still. I really hope we'll get some more news or the people that were there can tweet a bit more or even show that dang footage! 😭😭😭
Tumblr media
This person said Troy seemed to be the antagonist, which I think isn't that surprising given that Madison bashed his head in with a hammer.
Tumblr media
So this is the supposed scene where Troy is revealed to be alive. Madison and Strand are looking at someone, likely Troy.
Tumblr media
The next few tweets give a better description of what we first see and might expect. Troy's the leader of this armed group (reminder of his militia experience at the ranch??) who have taken Madison and Strand hostage.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's APPARENTLY BLIND on the side where Madison bashed his head in with the hammer. Also remember the end scene of S8A, where the hand picks up all the items reminiscent of S3 and put it in the bag obv. spoiling to Troy? He is wearing the glasses to cover his eye. Lol I remember Daniel Sharman comparing Troy to the Governor (but different) in an interview and it's low key funny he's also blind in one eye and covers it.
Tumblr media
The 🔨 in the end credits is also the one Madison seems to want to bash his head in the trailer, but Strands stops her. He apparently agitated her or mightve shown the hand in the bag as well? I wonder if Troy found Alicia dead or some shit and took it. Because he obviously was the one listening to the broadcast Madison put out.
Aside from my stil lingering fears that the current writers will mess him up, I am glad to just see his face and see how it will end. Since they brought him back, I don't want him to die cause what was the point??!?!? But given Troy's story (he's a father and will save his daughter with the help of Madison) I wonder if it will sort of come full circle for Madison (who is the main character of the show) and she'll either go full evil, try to right her wrong or will be put down by Troy or someone else. I lean more to the latter two!!!
These were the only snippets I could find so far. Also credit to the tweeters and accounts.
BUT HOW EXCITED ARE YA'LL????? I need to reorganize my thoughts cause I am so excited!!!!
Edit: excuse the typos and grammar mistakes.

Time Squad 22nd Anniversary: A Retrospective On The First Three Episodes
In honor of Time Squad turning 22-years old very soon, I’ve decided to give a brief review on the first three episodes. I mean, the show is technically well over 22-years old... according to creator Dave Wasson, he began development on the show around Fall of 2000. Also in an interview, he stated that he originally was going to develop Time Squad as a Oh Yeah Cartoons short, which was around 1998 or 1999. That obviously never happened, as he was already busy with the Tales From The Goose Lady shorts. Hell, I don’t even know if this is confirmed to be true... After all, Dave Wasson had always intended on pitching Time Squad to Cartoon Network. Nonetheless, even if it was on Nickelodeon in some alternate time period, it still would’ve not looked out of place alongside other nicktoons such as My Life As A Teenage Robot, The Fairly Oddparents, and Chalkzone. Speaking of time period, let’s dive into some of the very first adventures our main characters had! Well, my personal thoughts.
1a. Eli Whitney’s Flesh Eating Mistake (6.5/10)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This was surprisingly a very decent introductory episode. It is lacking in the energy department; the characters’ voices aren’t nearly as energetic as later episodes... and Buck Tuddrussel sounds more monotonous and gruff. That said, it isn’t nearly as dull as the next episode... which is even more dull to the point where I don’t like it. But that’s another can of worms to cover... Anyway, the episode starts with Otto Osworth’s absolutely horrible life at the orphanage; he spends his days getting bullied by Sister Thornley and all the other kids, and hides in the broom closet to read books. After a grueling day of chores not fit for a 8-year old boy, two figures (a man and a robot) named come to his “rescue”. The reason they accidentally teleported to the early 2000s was because Larry 3000 put in the wrong coordinates. After some hesitation, Tuddrussel ultimately accepts Otto as a possible member of his team (much to Larry’s dismay). We then get a bit of filler before jumping into the main mission, which is getting Eli Whitney to invent the cotton gin. This is not bad filler because it gives an opportunity for Larry and Otto to get to know each other. We also get to see what the main satellite looks like and how Tuddrussel and Larry get assigned the missions they supposedly go on. Why they get assigned missions would later be explained in a couple of episodes. Anyway, we get some hijinks like Tuddrussel beating up a tree, Larry getting mistaken for a flesh-eating robot by citizens, and Tuddrussel tasering Eli Whitney. Instead of inventing the cotton gin, Eli Whitney invented flesh-eating robots because he felt like it. Actually, he wanted to make mankind happy, which is quite pure if you ask me. We then get some actually well choregraphed fight scenes with Tuddrussel and the robots... before ending the episode off with Eli Whitney inventing the cotton gin after the citizens discover Otto’s shirt. Well, that was it. 15 minutes of characters getting to know each other and the gist of time traveling (in Otto’s case)... and it was somewhat worth it. Unfortunately, the episode felt dull in some places, specifically during the part on the satellite. The one saving grace was Larry 3000 and his charming attitude. He’s just reeking with sarcasm in this episode. If it weren’t for him, I would’ve tuned out of this episode a while ago.
1b. Never Look A Trojan In The Gift Horse (4/10)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I really don’t like this episode... I just don’t. It’s not offensively bad or annoying, but it feels like a slog getting through that one. The concept about giving the King of Troy a trojan horse full of candy is a fun concept, though it’s executed rather poorly. There are some funny jokes, like the trojan soldier pouring out actual horses, thus burning the entire kingdom down. Larry’s also great as usual. All in all, this episode is forgettable. Everything just flies by so fast, you’ll forget what happened... which is a problem in other Season 1 episodes such as “Robin And Stealing With Mr. Hood”. Even the good 7-minute episodes feel like they fly by way too fast. I feel this one should’ve been about 10 minutes, so we could get more opportunity for jokes... as well as development of the plot. I’ve heard many people love this episode. Me? I just don’t see the point. This episode is forgettable, hence why I kept this review short and sweet.
2a. Napoleon The Conquered (8.5/10)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now we’re getting to the bread and butter of the episodes... this one. This episode is possibly the very first episode that felt “Time Squad”. There’s a whole barrage of adult jokes and dark humor, the characters are gradually becoming more themselves, and the pacing is just right. It is a 15-minute episode, but the pacing feels like Baby Bear’s porridge; it’s not too fast, not too slow... it’s just right. Napoleon is such a peach; he may be one of the fiercest conquerors in the world, but he’s also a sweetheart who loves his wife and kids. He’s essentially a family guy, though not nearly as much as Randall McCoy in a later episode. Josephine Boneparte, though she is a bit of an overdemanding asshole, is a very sympathetic character. Think of it this way: she’s always stuck at home chasing after her rambunctious one-year old babies, preparing dinner, doing chores, and being a typical housewife. One would go insane after a long time of this routine, so of course she would want to pursue a life of her own. All she wants is to be recognized as significant and capable as her husband. She doesn’t want to be a stereotypical housewife; she’s more than that. It’s similar to how Larry doesn’t want to be a stereotypical robot; he’s more than a robot... he’s a living being with desires and dreams. I also realized that the possible reason behind Napoleon and Josephine’s babies is because in real life,  Napoleon actually slept with many women. Perhaps that’s the joke? If it is, man’s gotta be a womanizer!
Nonetheless, despite the fact that the babies aren’t major characters in the episode, it was admittedly very heartwarming seeing the normally grumpy and cynical Larry let his guard down for the sake of caring for Napoleon’s babies. When he’s being parental, it’s just so cute <3 That and the babies thankfully do not have overly obnoxious cries, so I don’t have to worry about hitting the mute button. I’d probably love them even more if they served more of a purpose to the plot... other than giving Larry a tough job. Well... it was rather beneficial for Larry anyway; he got a taste of what parenthood was like... as well as teaching him how to be more patient and tolerant, not just toward Otto... but toward Tuddrussel too. Even if raising an 8-year old is vastly different from raising multiple 1-year olds, he learned what it was like to constantly be around a child.
Tumblr media
Those were my personal thoughts on these episodes! While the show did start off rather dull in a few departments, it still had a lot more room for improvement! Most episodes after “The Island of Dr. Freud” are either just good or very amazing... especially Season 2! I assure you, it does get better! And I have a feeling had there been a third season, it probably would’ve been its best. JT Lazer and Lance Nine Trillion being the main antagonists would add a new touch to the series, which is refreshing since there were never any true villains aside from Todd Washington Carver. You can say Alfred Nobel and Josephine Boneparte were villains, but I strongly disagree. They may have done some questionable things, but that doesn’t necessarily make them bad people. They both wanted to find their true passions in life; they were sick and tired of being misunderstood... which is a struggle most the historical figures in this show share. But because the time rope would unravel because of incorrect history, they have to do the things history knows them for, whether they like it or not. I feel a TV movie about the Time Squad corporation finding out about Otto’s existence would’ve been a great idea. As well as a reveal about JT Lazer and Lance Nine Trillion being the ones unraveling the time rope all along. It is a fairly Pixar-esque trope, but for a show like this, it would be amazing... if executed correctly.
Anyway, I really hope more people recognize and acknowledge Time Squad as it is a very underrated show! It is flawed in some departments (such as the pacing of the episodes and some unfunny jokes), but the pros far outweigh the cons! It so deserved more episodes. But alas, we cannot change time, so we’ll just have to count on fate to decide whether this show might get a revival. Better yet, it might release on streaming.

thoughts after watching ftwd s3 for the first time:
- first eps got me Invested fr
- obsessed with when troy said 'we can be friends now' or whatever it was
- didn't really care about strand daniel or ofelia for the most part but i did kinda like having ofelia back with the gang for a bit idk
- strand started growing on me through s2 but he kinda annoyed me this season like the whole 'con man' bs just irritates me like be normal omg
- luciana just pissing off somewhere is so ?? like okay bye I guess, after her and nick were so cute in s2 it's kinda makes all that feel like a waste of time idk (I know she comes back in s4 which I'm cool with bc I like her but her being gone for a season so I guess nick didn't have to be attached to her all the time is odd idk. tho at the same time I can't say I missed her bc there was so much other stuff going on)
- nick and jeremiah were kinda an interesting duo????? obvs jeremiah can choke like he's a full racist but they had some cool moments
- alicia and jake were kinda cute. I find it funny that they specify she's 18 bc it felt like they did it so ppl wouldn't complain a guy in his mid 20s was with a 17yo lmao
- can't decide if I like madison or not ngl she toes the line between interesting and annoying I think
- troy and nick are interesting as fuuuck. I don't think I like them like other ppl seem to? I defo see the shipping appeal but I was expecting them to have more shipping appeal than they actually had I think. the dynamic they Actually have within the season is cool enough on its own, I didn't need it to be a romantic thing. I saw a lot of s3 gifs before I watched it and the gifs of them out of context had strong ship vibes but in context it was like.. not Really ship vibes? either way I loved them a lot
- everyone meeting up again feels soooo convenient liike daniel and strand finding each other, ofelia meeting otto and then being found by taqa who happened to have beef with the ranch the clarks had moved to and then madison happens to find strand at that place???? PLEASE
- I loved troy a lot and I wish madison didn't kill him like ughhhhhhhhh feels like wasted potential either for a full redemption or even just a mild redemption where he's still a lil fucked up but is able to work with the group
- nick is still defo my fave, troy is probs second, then alicia, then the rest idk. I really liked taqa so he's high up there as an s3 fave but idk if he's that high as a fave in the show in general
- gave this season 4.5 stars. I can't imagine it will ever go up to 5 or down to 4 but who knows
- I lowkey am worried the show is just gonna be down hill from here partly bc I know nick dies next season and he's my fave by miles but also bc I've heard ppl say it becomes the morgan show and I've never been that obsessed with morgan. I know alicia stays on the show forever(?) tho so that good bc I like her a lot, and dwight and sherry show up at some point which is also good news for me

abelia, chamomile, palm tree!
abelia ⇢ do you have a particular piece of jewelry you always wear or can’t part with?
I do! It's a ring with my birthstone on it, a garnet. It was the last Christmas gift my dad ever gave me before he passed away. It came in a pair with a matching necklace but I don't wear that much because the chain is so short.
chamomile ⇢ what kind of things do you like receiving as gifts?
I like receiving gift cards, money; I find it much easier that way to buy something I know I will like instead of having them guess if I will like it or not. Also chocolate, any kind, but especially Belgian sea shell shaped ones, or the chocolate covered Macadamia nuts. And also anything fandom related--that shows that the person giving the gift knows me really well and listens to me and I appreciate that! palm tree ⇢ do you have a fictional villain you shouldn’t like but love regardless?
Yes, I say I would. If you have seen season three of Fear the Walking Dead (FTWD), there is the character of Troy Otto, who is played by Daniel Sharman. He is a complete psycho, seems to enjoy violence, is missing a few marbles and has some severe mommy issues and his own actions eventually lead to the destruction of his family's camp and the deaths of many people, and he seems mostly unfazed by this. And from a book, the first villain type character I remember liking was Murtagh from Eragon. He initially was kind of morally grey but became a main villain towards Eragon in the later books. I never finished the series mostly because I wanted to keep the morally grey version of him in my head, but also because the third book I couldn't get more than a third through without becoming bored. EDIT: For the last question, about fictional villains, I also really like the character of Dandy Mott from the fourth season of American Horror Story. Again, love the actor (Finn Wittrock) and the character of Dandy is just so freaking funny. One line that he shouts a handful of times is “I hate you! I hate you! I hate you!” while stamping his foot like a child throwing a tantrum. He’s a man child that finds fascination in killing all the freaks at the freak show when the conjoined twins reject him and none of those in the freak show are glad he bought the place from Ms. Elsa (kinda like the ringleader). He is also unhinged, a child of incest, borderline psychopath-sociopath (imo) and also decides to take on Twisty the clown as a role model.
Thanks for your asks, Lucky!

“I really would’ve liked it if you told me your parents were coming to town.” - “I really would’ve liked it if you put underwear on before coming into the kitchen.” for Trick
Trick #63
Troy made his way down the back set of stairs that went directly to the kitchen from the second floor of the house. He could hear his in-laws car idling outside and their voices carrying through the open windows as they chatted with the next door neighbor who had been mowing his lawn upon their arrival.
As he entered the kitchen he spotted Nick at the stove cooking dinner, which was undoubtedly for the four of them, maybe their siblings as well if the amount of food around the kitchen was any indicator.
Nick looked over his shoulder and rolled his eyes at the sight of Troy rushing down the stairs towards him.
“I really would’ve liked it if you told me your parents were coming to town.” Troy said pointedly, looking towards the door of the kitchen like speaking of them might make them appear suddenly. He got along alright with Travis, Madison was hit or miss.
“Well, I really would’ve liked it if you put underwear on before coming into the kitchen.” Nick said, tone put-upon as he took another look over his shoulder at Troy before going back to cooking. “They called while you were in the shower. I had to get this food going NOW or it wouldn’t be ready in time for when Jake and Alicia arrive.”
“So everyone is coming over?” Troy said with a groan, still standing buck naked in the middle of the kitchen and ignoring Nick’s comment about underwear.
