Recently I had the absolute pleasure of working on Slave Zero X for Poppy Works and Ziggurat. I’ve been fortunate enough to like a bunch of games I’ve worked on but I really, really vibed well with this one! Here’s some of Shou, the protagonist’s movement animations that I worked on. It’s a stylish 2.5D single plane slash em up with a air combo heavy combat system that rocks hard. There’s a demo up now on Steam for next fest. Definitely check it out if that sounds appealing to you!

Games Nobody Plays
I spent ten hours playing a wizard game from 2014 with 4 concurrent steam players and ended up writing a patreon article about how capitalism wants us to believe we'll never die. I say lots of melodramatic shit like:
Learning to read by looking constantly for the next drip in the feed is a kind of self-fulfilling prophecy, a mutually maladaptive system where we trick ourselves into thinking that one day — one day! — we’ll finish running up this infinite treadmill, check off all these experiences from our to-do list, and get a chance to go back to the old favorites we love. In the process, we demand the next drip and defer all our favorite objects until we’re finished with next week’s experiences. It could go on forever! Everything is both fleeting and perpetual. We’ll never run out of culture, and we’ll never run out of time, and we’ll stay young forever and never ever die.
and I also talk about these freak carrots:

This model is an estimated reconstruction of the city of Uruk from the time when King Gilgamesh was said to have reigned (around 2500 BC). It covered an area of 400 hectares and was protected by a 10 km long wall that was said to have been built by King Gilgamesh

Ziggurat
A ziggurat is a form of monumental architecture originating in ancient Mesopotamia which usually had a rectangular base and was built in a series of steps up to a flat platform upon which a temple was raised. The ziggurat was an artificial mountain raised for the worship of the gods to elevate the priests toward heaven.
The people of the Ubaid Period (c. 5000-4100 BCE) are thought to have come down from the mountains to the plains of Mesopotamia and influenced the Sumerians (or were Sumerians), the first to build ziggurats as religious sites mirroring sacred high places. This is speculative, of course, but suggested by Sumerian names of some ziggurats which reference mountains. The structure was known as unir in Sumerian and as ziggurratum (or ziggurartu) in Akkadian, both meaning "peak," "pinnacle," or "high place," and served as a platform on which priests would perform rituals in view of the people far below.

Discover how Mesopotamia’s code of law, based on the principle of "an eye for an eye," laid the foundation for justice and fairness in society, and many other innovations, including the wheel, led to it being considered the first cradle of civilization. From skilled architects to brilliant astronomers, their legacy will leave you in awe!

You know...Sumerian coffee must have blown your head off.
Me: "This coffee is so good. I'm going to build a ziggurat and found civilization."
Coworker: "Dude, it's not even 8 yet."
