love u goog <3
#to explain the dotted squares: Why Are You A Redhead When You Are Bing's Clone.#and the other is like. lets get one thing straight i love goog to death everything in season 2? wouldnt change a damn thing#but i feel like the susan thing was resolved too quickly. and his relationship with mac has gone. underaddressed.#goog was raised by dr. order and i love that he defects right away when shown a first glimmer of something more meaningful#it works well to demonstrate the point that kindness is what we're. as people. most naturally drawn to when circumstance allows for it#but i think how easy it ultimately comes to him even when that's challenged by his personal hurt later kinda. cheapens it a bit?#kindness is easy but its also very hard sometimes when we are faced with the desire or need to protect ourselves from being hurt#and susan letting goog get his catharsis from attacking her even though it wasnt Her her that hurt him#is something i feel should've left him feeling a bit more. conflicted a bit longer. the resolution was sweet but not fully earned imo?#and then theres mac. your little brother almost kills you in cold blood chasing the same meaningless victory you were raised to achieve#and then just. befriends your platonic partner's little sister and becomes part of the family while changing very little of his outlook#just changing who he answers to because he got his ass kicked. and you're just supposed to feel fucking NORMAL about that???????#idk just think google should get to bite people and be dysfunctional a little more he was raised by doctor order hes not even two years old#he's a shonen protagonist with anxiety but the anxiety doesn't even really interfere meaningfully with anything narratively best i remember#machi has the excuse of being baby to explain why he's so innocent and even he's distinctly self-centered at times#google is a grown man and chooses kindness every day after he got out of there#and that rules. but id like to see him struggle with it just a LIL more#a bit too much of a perfect victim after he gets out for my taste. i had a similar problem with adora in she-ra#lots of not having a frame of reference for a different normal than theirs but always choosing the Right™ thing to do the first time anyway#but thats a mild 'show dont tell'-y writing gripe#its been a good bit since i watched the eps referenced so my feelings might change when i get to them in my rewatch#i simply think meeting a version of your shitty mom that's largely the same but not shitty should make you feel. a lot of different ways#and we didnt really get to see goog wrestle with that after finding out susan wasnt Really her and i think thats kind of a shame#and i dont remember if mac and goog have even shared any screentime after that time Mac Injured Him Terribly with plus ultra

In father’s embrace
Tumblr media
synopsis: HSR men as dads and what your family dynamic is like.
pairings: Blade, Gepard, Loucha, Sampo, Jing Yuan x fem!reader (separately)
tw: fluff, established relationship, implied initial mortal x immortal in Blade’s
word count: 5.2k words
a/n: Luofu Xianzhou timeline is hell, so Blade’s one is quite vague. Here’s the Genshin version!
Tumblr media
Blade
Blade tends to say that he has no connection to his past, but that is not true and very few (mostly Kafka) know he is lying. Even with his life and death fucked up he can't simply let go of someone his heart has been always full with, of someone who he promised himself to by the altar, even if under another name, of someone, who gifted him the joy of both his previous and current life - your daughter.
The blade - a cold weapon with no feelings - should not experience being lucky, but that’s what he was, when you clutched him in your arms the first time after his return from the dead and sobbed in his chest, telling him how much you missed him, how much his little angel missed him.
Back then he should've left without a trace, maybe even coming to you in the first place was a mistake, but he just couldn't. And his resolve crumbled completely when a white-haired toddler in your arms gazed at him with the same soft eyes as yours and reached out to his face, hesitantly asking "dada?".
As much as Blade is capable - he loves you and your daughter. He is quite absent due to his involvement with the Stellaron Hunters, but you understand how important that magenta-haired woman's ability is when it comes to restraining the mara in his body. After all that's the reason why he can visit without fear of hurting you or his little girl.
Some other sacrifices had to be made - one of them was moving from the Lofu Xianzhou, but that was alright and your daughter loved her new environment. Besides, dada has been visiting more often ever since you moved! And no one really bothered or chased after you (after all, you are still registered as his wife and higher ups of Lofu know), which, you assumed, was somehow connected with a young girl that once came with Blade.
Kafka once brought up a proposition of moving you two to the Stellaron Hunters' base for Blade's easier access, but he declined. At least his loved ones should have a peaceful everyday life.
With a tired sigh the black-haired man lowers himself on a sofa in the living room of the house you two purchased to start a seemingly new life. The red-hot iron in his eyes disappears behind the heavy eyelids and for a moment Blade allows himself to relax. The little wonder, that is his daughter, ran to your bedroom to fetch some hair accessories, after you encouraged your husband to let her style his long locks.
He doesn’t move when you sit next to him, hip to hip and heart to heart. He welcomes your sneaking fingers, curling his, creating a secure lock of hands. The weight of your head resting on his shoulder is grounding and he can’t help but press his cheek against it.
It’s soothingly silent.
It almost reminds him of the past.
“For how long will you be staying this time?
Even your question, spoken in a tender, understanding voice, is familiar. You used to ask him the same thing in-between his Cloud Quintet-related missions.
These days it’s difficult to sneak and see you during breaks though.
“Fifteen days,” his breath is even, and eyes are still shut, but he senses a smile that tugs on the corners of your lips.
“That’s a lot. She will be so happy,” and he knows that you are as well.
The rapid stomping of little feet bursts into your peaceful serenity, and you simultaneously glance at the doorway. Low and behold - the soon-to-be hair stylist is proudly running into the room, tightly clutching your jewelry box with various hair pins inside.
“Dad, I practiced! Mom says I’ve been making huuuuuuge progress!”
A tiny smile touches his pale lips - it’s such a miracle that a monster like him is blessed to have the most adorable child in the whole universe. With her and you by his side, this life gets more and more bearable.
“If mom says you’ve been, then it must be the truth,” he nods, letting go of your hand - but not before giving it a little affectionate stroke with his thumb, - sliding down and onto the floor, turning his back to the girl.
Giggling excitedly, she gives you the box, which you quickly unlock, and starts looking through the many intricate pieces of jewelry (many are your beloved’s presents), until finding the perfect one.
Having his hair being touched is weird. He was aware that the white luscious locks used to draw attention, but only you were honored to run your fingers through them, and only his baby was allowed to tug on them, making her father wince. Now it’s different - she is oh so careful, brushing, collecting stray locks and braiding, not once causing him pain.
Blade sighs again, but looks at you from the corner of his eye, catching you snickering in your palm upon gazing at something that your daughter is turning his hair into. Well, that’s concerning.
But at this very moment he can’t bring himself to care. If he gets fifteen whole days before his next mission, he is going to savor this time with his family - no matter how disastrous he’s going to look by the end of it.
Gepard
A family man. So no one was surprised when in the end the leader of the Silvermane Guards ended up with three kids - two sons and a daughter. Partly it was dictated by the rules of nobles and his family among them, but ultimately it was your mutual sincere decision.
It’s obvious he is not there for many of his kids’ first times, as sometimes his duties prevail and even the Supreme Guardian cannot help it, but he really-really tries to be there as much as possible. He appreciates the videos you send him, has every single one stored in his phone’s memory and sometimes, when there is no communication, in his spare moment he replays them to remind himself that soon he’ll return home and see his kids and you.
Only one time he really fucked up because of work - during your first pregnancy you both underestimated the soon arrival of your due date and he left on a mission with his troops, reassured that he’ll be back before the day you go into labor. The snowstorm was severe and the connection was cut, so the message Serval sent him when your water broke was not delivered. His soldiers would bring to their graves the image of a deathly pale Gepard, when many hours later he checked his phone back at the base and nearly broke the screen, trying to type his sister’s number.
After that he started taking paternity leave seriously.
You do not keep in touch with his parents a lot - there were instances where they disapproved of you, but all of his siblings are always welcomed in your house and to see their nephews and niece, because they supported your relationship from the moment they met you in flesh.
Serval is an enormous help when it comes to babysitting. It’s like her part-time job honestly - you even offered to pay her, but she declined, suggesting offering her a helping hand whenever she’d need instead. Oh, and to be the first one out of all the Landau siblings (after her brother, of course) to know about the latest updates on your kids.
The kids that are adorable. All three won the ‘blue eyes’ lottery, which, given the previous generations of Landau, is not a big surprise; both boys look like Gepard, while the girl took more after you in appearance. The man really doesn’t want to play favorites, but sometimes he is just too weak for his little princess, who looks just like her mom. She is the youngest too with a pretty big age gap between her and her brothers, who were born a year apart, so there is literally no jealousy, because your sons took their father’s example and became her protectors.
Even from a 'big bad dragon' that is their aunt…
When you step inside your house and hear the kids still fussing somewhere in the rooms, involuntarily your gaze falls to the old grandfather’s clock in the foye. Almost midnight. All three should be long asleep with Serval sending you a notification of her success. Which you didn’t receive and for that reason had to cut your date short and hurry back home.
Your husband looks as concerned as you are, locking the door and straining his ears to determine what’s going on. With both your coats abandoned, you carefully step further into the house, making your way to the line of light coming from under one of the doors.
Two jaws almost kiss the floor when you see Serval lying on the floor tied and gagged with a scarf. Alone. For a moment you fear the worst.
Rushing inside, you let Gepard search the other rooms for intruders. Helping your sister-in-law to sit is no problem, but the knot behind her head is awfully tightened. In the end you manage to yank it down to free her mouth, quickly switching to the rope constricting her hands.
“Y/n, oh my god,” she gasps, finally able to speak. “Who taught your sons to tie knots like this!? I didn’t know a sixteen- and fifteen-year olds can be so strong-”
“Come again?” Stunned, you stop untying her wrists, looking at the woman with widened eyes. Your boys did what?
“My precious nephews - whom I really do not want to strangle - took the game of knights too seriously, and when - maybe a half an hour ago? - I decided to play the dragon who was stealing the princess - my niece of three years, - they attacked and tied me!”
“Huh…” is all you can say, feeling relief wash over you. At least there are no burglars or kidnappers and your kids are safe.
When, listening Serval’s huffs of complaints, you move to untie her legs, the heavy steps of your husband are heard in the hallway, accompanied by the boys whining and begging their dad not to come to the living room, because the dragon would eat their sister.
His tall figure appears in the doorway, with your daughter in his arms, looking very sleepy, and two almost carbon copies of their dad pulling at his jacket to give them their sister back.
“Serval, what in blazes have you told them?” The judging tone and the squint of his blue eyes are directed at his elder sibling.
“It was just a game, Geppie! A silly game they turned into reality.”
“Aunt said she’d eat her,” your oldest pouts, eyeing her cautiously. “And she told us stories about the cannibals the other night-”
“Serval, you what?”
“Hey, they asked me to! Oh, thanks, Y/n,” she shrugs the loosened rope off of her. “Where did you even get this?”
“Aunt Lynx gave us,” the second son chirps, hugging Gepard’s side. “She showed us how to do knots.”
“This little-”
Suddenly you feel a headache coming. With big family come big challenges, but something of this caliber hasn’t happened in a while. It makes you smile though - you almost forgot what it was like - to raise two boys. Seems like your girl brings the borderline naughtiest out of them.
Loucha
To begin with it's worth mentioning that your and Loucha's marriage started as an unpredictable necessity. You both needed to enter the world that allowed only married foreigners' access. So, quickly figuring that your goal matches, you got married on a neighboring planet, spent a month there to make the marriage more believable in the sense of its duration and learning more about each other. Yeah, all of that just to fulfill your respectful jobs. You invented and rehearsed all the possible answers to the questions, perfected your affectionate act and were actually feeling quite comfortable around each other.
It was almost funny, when on the 'how many kids do you plan to have?' Loucha confidently answered 'two', and a couple of years later your first son was born, and then, after 7 more years, another one was too.
Admittedly, the oldest one was kind of unplanned, but at that point you traveled so much together, shared so many memories, even ended up caring for each other on a lover-like level, that you decided to give it a shot, just like you did with the continuation of your marriage.
And Loucha couldn't be more pleased. Surprisingly, he found the peace of those first years he spent settled down to raise your boy delightful. And there was something exciting about having a little wonder with a perfect mix of both of your features in your arms, as your husband's hand is resting on the small of your back, leading you through the crowds of the new planet's lively market, as the child's eyes shine with marvel, taking in his surroundings.
When Loucha suggested having another one it simply felt right.
Your sons are so lucky in the sense of seeing the universe, because their father is a traveling merchant. Sure, he doesn't always take you and your two boys with him, but whenever his deal allows him enough freedom and your kids are doing great in school and can be taken on a little vacation - you three are going with him.
Usually he gets to take care of the youngest one, since only Loucha's vast knowledge can satisfy his curiosity, while the oldest one calmly walks hand in hand with you, content with listening to their conversation and pointing out to you the things he already knows himself, receiving a soft praise from you and an approving nod from his father.
Back home the roles reverse - the oldest is spending most of his time with Loucha to learn all about medicine and healing techniques, while the youngest is more interested in sharing your hobbies.
The two hardly ever quarrel as siblings tend to do, and it must be because of the overall serene atmosphere of your family dynamic, your soft nature and your husband's tranquil behavior.
More than a decade ago Loucha wouldn't have imagined himself with a wife and kids. Nowadays, however, he doesn't like the thought of not having the three of you by his side.
It is a quiet afternoon. A little house you rented for a little vacation has a nice yard - perfect for the kids to have fun outside. You occasionally glance at them from the window of the kitchen to make sure everything is fine, while your hands never stop moving - washing, cutting, stirring.
At some point you are so caught in the moment of tranquility, that you do not hear your husband walking in, until he softly hums to alert you of his presence, and puts his palms on your waist.
“Smells delicious,” you smile, feeling his chin on your shoulder, and grab a piece of a tangerine you are meaning to use for dessert, offering it to him.
“Mhm, I am trying to cook what we had yesterday at that restaurant.”
Ah, right, the restaurant the kids enjoyed. He remembers how you sneaked to the kitchen and came back with a little less credits, but with new recipes and an excited smile on your face.
“Hopefully my rendition will be to our boys’ liking. And don’t think I forgot about you - those Loufu Xianzhou-style noodles are already on their way!”
“So thoughtful of you, darling,” his silky voice caresses your ear and not a second later a kiss is pressed to your cheek. “Do you need any help?”
“Weren’t you busy?” You decide to clarify, clearly recounting how he locked himself in one of the rooms earlier that day to test something. To your question Loucha shakes his head.
“All done already. And I missed you and the kids.”
“Then go and play with them,” you urge, turning to face him to offer a sweet smile. “I’ll handle it here, but the boys could use some quality time with their father.”
“You say that as if they didn’t drag us all around the city yesterday and then climb into our bed and refuse to leave.”
“I mean, it’s the first time in two months they properly see you. That last deal of yours was exceptionally time-consuming.”
“You kept me updated on them so well and those video calls we had… it didn’t even feel like I ever left.”
You only huff and return your gaze to the stove, yet leaning into his chest a little. For a minute it’s quiet, and the man is taking his time before parting from you. That is until he takes a deep inhale and nuzzles his face in your neck.
“Thank you, Y/n.”
“What for, handsome?” There is that teasing lilt in your voice he came to love. Over the course of your lives together he discovered many things to love you for, and if not for that desperate decision to get married - he thinks he’d hardly ever feel the same about his life.
“For everything.”
He leaves your side with a kiss on your shoulder and the next time you glance out of the window again - he is already there, hoisting his youngest in one arm and chasing after the oldest one with his hair swaying in the gentle wind. And your heart is at peace.
Sampo
In all his life Sampo has managed to never impregnate a single woman and he considers that a success. For all the crap people speak about him Sampo is not an idiot, even though he acts like a fool at times. He is extremely self-aware and bringing a child to this world is probably the last thing on his list.
But no one said anything about someone else’s child, right?
Your and Sampo’s relationship is… strange, not going to lie. One evening you happened to help a scared woman to escape from some drunkards (whom you lately found out were the Silvermane Guards, sober and on duty), only for the long wig to slip and the heavy coat to slide down, revealing shortly cut but nicely styled hair and obviously male broad shoulders. The only thing the man managed to get out was a sheepish “hehe”.
And boy did that “hehe” change your life.
That day Sampo Koski got off the hook, since you didn’t comment anyhow and just let him go, which, given you were an overworlder, he found intriguing. So he dug a little bit, out of pure curiosity. Besides, this man didn't like staying in debt to someone and he needed information to see how he could pay you back.
That’s when he found out you were a single mother. An opera singer, but divorced and with full custody over a six-year old daughter.
And honestly, he didn’t give it much thought at first. He simply arranged a nice bouquet of red roses for you, paid Natasha a little for a handmade plushie and left it all at the door steps with a ‘thank you’ note.
Until a couple of weeks ago, disguised again, he didn’t stumble into a group of kids obviously bullying a little girl, mocking her for not having a father, and throwing something among themselves that she tried to catch. And he recognized the toy. And one glance was enough to see how much she looked like the woman he met only once. And against his better judgment Sampo walked to the children, easily snatching the toy and effectively scaring everyone off. Only with that little girl still being there, eyes full of unshed tears and fingers digging in the skirt of her pretty dress.
That tiny ‘thank you’ when he handed the plushie back to her and she hugged it tightly to her chest made the conman’s heart clench, and for the second time that day he sent his plans to hell, keeping her company near the house you lived in until you arrived from work.
That day he learned many things - how much your daughter loved the toy and what a sweet little thing she was, how tired a person can look and how much a throat can hurt from the whole day of singing during rehearsals, how nice a home-made dinner can be once you are invited, but most importantly - how even such a damned man like him can be gazed upon with gratitude and not from one, but two people.
From that day many other instances happened, but in the end he just stuck around. It was strange, it was new, but in a sense it was comforting, especially when you would come home - on Friday, for example, - and he’d be there, entertaining your daughter and then greeting you with a smile and a silly wave of his hand.
You don’t have a husband, and your daughter doesn’t have a father - but with his presence Sampo Koski manages to fill those voids even if a little bit.
Aeons you love days off. A morning to finally sleep in and do not run around like crazy in attempts to get yourself and your kid ready. Even breakfast wasn’t on you today, because the ‘silly man’ stayed the night and told you to get your sleep, assuring you with that confident puff of his chest that the Sampo Koski would offer you his best service, which effectively made you giggle.
Tonight he even cuddled with you, letting you bury your face in his neck and be a little vulnerable in the arms of a man with whom you had the most peculiar relationship ever. But after such equally peculiar moments you really start thinking of suggesting moving from the couch in the living room to your bedroom permanently. It’s been months already, who would’ve thought.
Barefoot and not even glancing at the robe on the chair near the window you leave the room, rubbing at your eyes and brushing your hair away from your face. You are craving the cup of your morning drink, and so you let your legs carry you to the kitchen at first. However two voices coming from your wardrobe room instantly peak your interest and make you halt in your walking. What on earth could your daughter and your clown of a man be doing there?
And soon enough you find it out.
“Sit still, please!” The girl begs with an eye shadow palette in one tiny hand and a huge brush in the other. “It’ll smudge if you keep turning to the mirror!”
“Just can’t wait to see how beautiful I am, princess, ‘s all~”
There, on the floor among the rows of your clothes and shelves with beauty products and accessories, none other than Sampo is sitting, willingly offering his face to your daughter’s practice of applying makeup. And gods he looks absolutely hilarious.
But that’s not what exactly concerns you.
“Is that my dress?” You point at the red shimmery thing snuggly sitting on the man in front of you and that’s when the two notice you.
“Yes, mommy!”
“Say I pulled it off, right?” With a smirk the green-eyed menace winks at you and it looks even worse with poorly done lashes. You have to stifle your laughter. “Though I must admit, we had to keep it unzipped - my chest appeared to be bigger than yours-”
And that’s when you regret not bringing slippers with you - one flying in his head would be of great help.
“Sometimes I really hate you.”
“Nuh, sweet thing, you love me!”
“Well,” you step closer, grabbing a tissue to try and fix at least the overly bright blush on his cheeks, “maybe. Maybe I actually do.”
Suddenly Sampo is tongue-tied and silent, trying very hard to fight off the stupid grin forcing its way onto his face. But with thoroughly smeared red lipstick on his mouth it looks so damn comical.
“Mom, do you think pa looks pretty?” Your daughter hopefully asks, putting aside her tools, and that little two-letter word doesn’t go unnoticed by either of you. You feel a real blush burning under your deft fingers.
“Yes, sweety, Pa-mpo looks very pretty,” his head whips in your direction like you’ve just told him to go and surrender to the Belobog’s esteemed order keepers.
“...Pa-mpo?”
“Would you prefer Da-mpo instead?” Cocking your head in question, you smirk at him, relishing in the pout he is wearing at the moment. “Or maybe Sam-pa?”
“No, thank you very much,” he huffs. “Little princess called me ‘pa’, so be nice and respect it.”
And now it is you who is surprised. You haven’t really discussed with Sampo who he was to your daughter, and who she was to him - but if he is making this step of acknowledging the matter, then who are you to spoil it? Who knows, maybe things will work out quite pleasantly in the end.
“Alright, pa, I will respect that.”
“Hey! For you I am your precious popo baby, a koskiss to your lips, the love of your-”
“Don’t even dream of it.”
Jing Yuan
Yanqing would be enough of an answer to the kid question, but it is not. Sure, his young disciple is practically a son to the General, but it doesn't mean the man doesn't want his own children.
He does and he has. On multiple occasions Jing Yuan's subordinates walked in on him with a small figure sitting in his lap or perched on his strong arm, observing what the dad's been up to with his plans and documents. You scolded your husband for this many times, but the bastard only smiles and keeps stealing his daughter to work to keep him company. Or she sneaks on her own - that caused you many almost heart attacks when she was no older than a couple of decades.
For Jing Yuan it’s all good though - he gets to spend time with his baby and have you inevitably join him in search for your adventurous child.
The General has a separate folder for all the pictures of his daughter on his phone - every single one he takes and every single one you send him when he couldn’t bring his girl to some of his meetings (yet he really tried, until you put your foot down and saved many of his subordinates from the prolonging of said meetings). Even the background, hidden from prying eyes behind the passcode of your and her birthdays, is his little one, cradled in your arms, as the two of you are watching kites flying in the sky.
Yanqing at first was set on treating her with the same respect he does his mentor and you, his wife, but you quickly put an end to it, basically turning the boy into her older brother. He didn’t mind at all - if anything he is sometimes way too eager to push the two of you to go on a date so he can babysit. Often you would return to the two fast asleep either on the girl’s bed or cuddled to Mimi with toys scattered and at least two books lying on the floor. The huge lion adores the girl - sometimes you feel like it thinks of her as its own cub, and the thick mane of hair your daughter got from her father does not help.
And it appeared to be as eager to steal your daughter from you as your husband is…
“Y/n!” You practically jump when the doors to your bedroom fly open and Jing Yuan bursts inside. Immediately you notice his disheveled state - hair down and a mess, the robe he wore this morning for comfortable work in his home office is falling off one of his shoulders and a shoe is missing from his foot.
“Aeons, Yuan, don’t scare me like that,” you put a comb down on your vanity table and fully turn to face him. “What happened?”
“Is our precious baby with you?” He steps further into the room and starts looking around frantically. Okay, now that got worrisome.
“No? You took her earlier this afternoon after lunch to play in your study while you work. Have you really forgotten that? My love, you are getting old.”
You hear clearly as he curses under his breath, raking thick fingers through his hair. The golden eyes look at you and in them you spot a flicker of anxiety.
“...Jing Yuan, don’t tell me that you managed to lose our daughter.”
“I didn’t, I swear,” he winces at the full name usage, watching you rise from your seat and quickly approach him. “She was right by my side, watching the animal videos on my phone, but then I got immersed in the latest reports from the Sky-Faring Commission and when I finished whose - she was gone!”
“Uh, want me to call your phone? Maybe she still has it.”
To that he puts a hand in the robe’s pocket and brings out his device. Oh god.
“It was lying on the floor, still playing videos.”
“Okay, deep breaths,” you are not sure if you are telling it to him or to yourself, but you too take an inhale, meanwhile busying your hands with adjusting his clothes. “Even buried in work you’d still notice if a human sneaked in, right?” He nods. “And you’d notice if she left - she would’ve warned you about that.” He nods again, lips pursed and eyes staring at one point. “Yanqing is not as skilled to come unannounced and take her, and he wouldn’t do it without your permission, so-”
“Wait,” his hand catches yours and realization flashes in his features. “Mimi came.”
“...Mimi?” Before you can ask him to elaborate, your husband turns around and rushes out of the bedroom. Concerned and a little bit intrigued, you quickly follow.
In one of the rooms of your huge house the two of you finally find the lion, and Jing Yuan almost drops on the floor in relief when his girl is spotted in the animal’s embrace.
“Is she…sleeping?” You ask, glancing from behind his broad back.
“It appears so. Hey, Mimi,” the maned head lifts, two ambers taking in your appearances and a pleased huff is let out through the nose upon recognition.
“Well, my dear,” you pat his shoulder, shaking your head, “it appears that people were right - like the owner, like the pet. Congratulations, your lion took your habit of stealing our daughter to heart. Good luck prying her from it.”
“You say it like it’s something hard to do,” there it is, a confident smile is back on his face as he strides closer to the animal, ready to bend down and get his girl. Only for that lift of the corners of his lips to be gone when Mimi growls at him in a warning and shields your daughter’s little body with its head.
You only smirk and leave the scene to go and get your phone - there is no way you are not filming your husband dealing with the consequences of his own behavior.

Sitting in the chair of you, catra, and adoras shared bedroom in brightmoon your wings flutter as you fix the dress you had on. The flowers around your room grow, you laugh stopping them. Your blossom buzzes,a notification from your friend, you check it out, as you read it you yelp feeling claws on you back "agh!-" you almost throw the blossom, turning. "Oh.. catra! Don't scare me like that!" She laughed, "your so easy to scare, pixie," you roll your eyes. "Yeah yeah whatever,I'll tell adora agian!" You say playfully. "Heard my name," adora walked in "did catra scare you agian?" Adora asked, leaning her head on your shoulder. The three of you blushing. "Yes." Your wings flutter, your hands reaching to grab the blossom.
"Who messaged you?" Catra asked in confusion,"oh.. just Twinkle!" You smile, gently pushing them off they frown, "she asked if I wanted to come to a get together!" You wings flutter faster, you look at them "wanna come? Pleaseeee! You've always wanted to know the roles fairys haveee!" You beg, catra and adora look at eachother, catras tail wrapped around you ,"sure." They nod you squeal, and nod. "It's In two days at ...3:00! Ohmyra I have to make a pixie dust pie, that takes two days!" You panic, getting up,going under your small looking bed you snap and a big bucket of pixie dust came out from under,. "Since when were you able to do that?" Adora gasped. Your lips curled into a smirk "since always! Can you help me bring this out," you pick it up, "I forgot how heavy it was... NO no don't bring out-"
Adora turned into she ra,grabbing it "get ya,pix" she kissed your head, you blush, wings fluttering fastly, you and catra chase after her, "heyyy!" You laugh as you chase after her ,they're so helping make that pixie dust pie. They don't know how long it'll take.

Queen Francesca: Have you been having an affair?
Gabriel: Francesca-
Queen Francesca: Have you been having an affair!?
Tumblr media
Gabriel: ...Yes. I have
Queen Francesca: How long?
Gabriel: I don't remember-
Queen Francesca: Then make yourself remember!
Tumblr media
Gabriel: ...20 years... give or take
Queen Francesca: And in 20 years, it took the press finding out for you to finally admit it to me
Gabriel: What?
Queen Francesca: I've suspected it... for a while now. I suspected it the second you suggested we sleep in different rooms. Didn't I tell you? I may be cold but I'm a woman. And a woman always knows.
Tumblr media
Queen Francesca: Evidently you took me for a fool the first time I asked you about it too
Gabriel: Franny-
Queen Francesca: Why?
Tumblr media
Gabriel: ...I was lonely. I wasn't expecting much when we got married and I thought I could handle it, but I'm human and I have needs. Eventually, I met someone who recognised that. She acknowledged me, validated my feelings. She gave me everything I needed that I wasn't getting from you.
Tumblr media
Queen Francesca: (scoffs) So you abandoned our entire marriage just because you were lonely?
Gabriel: Just?
Queen Francesca: Don't you think I've ever felt lonely? Being a Queen is just about the loneliest job in the world! I've worked my butt off to get to where I am. Would I throw it all away just because I felt lonely!?
Tumblr media
Queen Francesca: ...Who is she?
Gabriel: I don't think this is a good idea
Queen Francesca: You don't get to think in this situation! Who is she!?
Gabriel: ...Avery Adora... Elena's mother
Tumblr media
Queen Francesca: Ha! To think the woman I welcomed into my home for the sake of my granddaughters has been sleeping with my own husband
Gabriel: Francesca please calm-
Tumblr media
Queen Francesca: Don't tell me to calm down! Don't I get to be angry!? After everything that's happened!?
Silence
Tumblr media
Queen Francesca: Do you love her?
Gabriel: ...
Queen Francesca: Gabriel-
Gabriel: -Yes. I love her
Tumblr media
Queen Francesca sighs
Queen Francesca: I know I haven't been the kindest wife. From the moment we got married I could never put you first but you... you were okay with it. Our marriage has been difficult but you've been by my side through it all. I thought I'd really found a partner for life. I'm selfish, I didn't think about your feelings, I know, but because you never complained I thought you would just stay quietly by my side like you always did
Tumblr media
Queen Francesca: I've chased my daughters away, I've chased my grandchildren away, I have no friends, and now the one person I had left... I've chased him away too. I guess being Queen really does leave you all alone.
Tumblr media
Gabriel: If you were all alone, I wouldn't still be here. The promise I made to you on our wedding day and the oath I swore during your coronation. all those still stand until the day I die. I will support you as your consort... and as your friend. That will never change
Queen Francesca: Does your woman know this?
Gabriel: She does
Queen Francesca: And she's okay with it?
Gabriel: ...She has to be
Tumblr media
Queen Francesca: I'm too selfish to tell you that I'll give you a divorce so you can be with her. Because I still need you
Gabriel: I know
Queen Francesca: But I won't tell you to stop seeing her... if she makes you happy
Gabriel: Franny...
Tumblr media
Queen Francesca: I'm tired... I want to rest
Gabriel: Okay, I'll give you some space
Tumblr media
Queen Francesca: Gabriel, call Anita. Tell her I'd like to speak with the heads of Vitali, Casiraghi, Evannesce, and Berger tomorrow.

following conversations with @roquereptil and @phosphoricbomb i have a thought
i have almost certainly had similar discussions on a deeper scale about Entrapta specifically (Heart or Void player Entrapta), but i want to pull it back a bit and talk about a lot of the characters!
specifically, the notion of Prospit and Derse. So which characters do you think would be Prospit and Derse?
Tumblr media
My analysis is based on the characters who you find on those planets. All of the Prospit kids are optimistic or otherwise idealistic, they have dreams and ambitions and largely live in fantasy. Not 100% of them do, but you see these characters taking a kick to the head at some point and their hopes and dreams get crushed.
All the Derse kids live in a cold hard real world. Usually with difficult backgrounds. They already know things are shit and frankly to them the game solved everything.
There are a couple of exceptions, like Feferi Peixes who is an optimistic Dersite (but anchored to Meenah Peixes who fits Derse perfectly), Sollux Captor who is on BOTH PLANETS (but for all intents and purposes is Dersite), and Nepeta Leijon who is in a grey area - more on that in a moment.
PROSPIT
Glimmer - She’s the most determined Prospit brained character .Glimmer isn’t under any illusion of greatness, however, she believes strongly in the Rebellion and friendship and in becoming as heroic as she can be to protect everyone. Glimmer has plenty of doubts but she swallows them in bold overconfidence.
Adora - Similar to Terezi Pyrope, Adora comes from a fucked up background but still idealises the values instilled in her of good and bad, and is determined to be a hero.. even if it means cutting down the person she loves most dearly. Unlike Dave who tries and fails to deny the call, Adora is basically running to be kiled for the good of all. Probably a Hope player. Pray that she isn’t the Time player.
Bow - Just like Glimmer and perhaps the inspiration for her ideals, Bow believes strongly in the Rebellion and the good of people. His brain is filled with happy thoughts. He is the most Prospitian to ever.
Of course, all three characters will have their hopes and dreams crumbled into dust over the show, and pick them back up again.
Sea Hawk - He is irrelevant enough to be Dersite but for some reason this guy makes me think of John Egbert. He just loves setting things on fire and doesn’t give many fucks about much else.
Perfuma - She reminds me of Jade Harley and Kanaya Maryam a little bit in that she is trying sooooo hard to be the good natured friend who knows everything that’s going on and is ok with adjustments to plans, however she is bottling up an insane rage and concealing half of her own character. Like both she really does believe in the things she talks about even if she can’t follow through those ideals.
Wrong Hordak - He’s very idealistic and simple, even after he switches sides. A happy boy.
Horde Prime - This is definitely my most interesting entry here. Prime sees himself as the savior of the planet. Everything that is not him is irrelevant. He doesn’t have any of Vriska or Catra’s pain, he doesn’t have the true awareness of the world that has been burned into Dersites, nor does he have the compassion for others that the other Prospits have. Prime is not like Caliborn, who started off irrelevant and had to fight to become the most important man in the universe. Prime has no flaws, he has no fears, and for that reason, he embodies the light of Prospit.
DERSE
Catra - Her brain is filled with terrible thoughts and fears and what separates her from Vriska is that Catra does not see herself as remotely relevant, she is chasing validation, not clout (which Vriska sees as the same thing). In contrast to Adora, Catra already knows the world is terrible and she frankly has no hopes or dreams, there is no sunshine in her nightmares. Horrorterrors eat Catra’s brain for lunch and she goes Grimdark at the first opportunity. Gets a period of recovery at the end of the show like Rose and the trolls!
Scorpia - If Scorpia actually believed anything she ever said, that would swing her onto Prospit. But she’s never had any self confidence, she’s never had faith that her friends care about her, or that her grandfather wanted what’s best for her. She’s always in a state of denial but always knows that her life is fucking terrible, and that only gets worse for Scorpia over the show. Like many Dersites, however, there is that light at the end of the tunnel, and Scorpia is very very strong. She’s a lot like Roxy and Nepeta.
Hordak - I see nothing remotely prospitian about this man who hates himself and his very being. Hordak just kind of Suffers throughout the whole show. He is defective and broken and discarded by his master. He is in many ways the opposite of Prime, no matter how he tries to emulate him. Hordak’s Homestuck counterparts are seen in Eridan Ampora and Dave Strider. Eridan has Hordak’s rage and villainy, Dave has the broken and scarring relationship with his father.
Entrapta - Like many Dersites, Entrapta battles with irrelevance. Her friends leave her to die, her second set of friends leave her to die, maybe it’d be better if a defect like her just stayed out of it. Entrapta is like Nepeta - Neither character is “fit for the purpose” that they were put into society for, both are heavily implied to be autistic and seen as defective because of it. And both characters run headfirst into dangerous situations. Entrapta however has a lot of powerful energy happening when she’s in a good mood which you could compare to Jade Harley, but I think while the characters are very similar, Jade believes herself to have a lot more control over her fate and loses it at the end to a self sacrifice narrative (EXACTLY like Adora), while Entrapta starts off with little to no control over her situation and ends up as one of the most powerful characters despite it all (like Aradia?).
Mermista - She reminds me of Rose, Dave, and Sollux in that Mermista always appears five stages of done in any given situation, and she appears to have had some shitty responsibility thrown on her, but give her a few minutes and she will dork your ear out. I don’t think there’s any real darkness or despair hidden behind Mermista’s character, which separates her from the other 3, but I think she’d be an excellent Derse dreamer.
Yeah my analysis of Derse was a lot deeper than Prospit but that’s probably because of the four Derse humans being much deeper characters than the four Prospit humans...
EDIT:
Here are a couple of points on some characters I forgot to mention.
Shadow Weaver - It's difficult because Light Spinner might qualify as Prospitian but Shadow Weaver screams Derse to me. Weaver's closest counterparts in Homestuck are the Condesce, who is Derse, and The Handmaid, who is also Derse. However, Weaver originally came from the light, unlike those two characters. I think Prospit Dreamer Weaver would be very interesting. Maybe she starts off on Prospit and sells her soul to the Horrorterrors! I guess if she's anything like a human kid, her biggest similarities are Rose and Dirk, who are both Dersites!!! But those characters have a humility that Weaver lacks.
Micah - Doesn't get enough character development to properly quantify, I think maybe Prospit because he's very determined and idealistic even though he's been through a hell of an ordeal! He survived on Beast Island for like 15 years because he wanted to see his family again. Young Micah was also incredibly talented and Light Spinner's prodigy student. He's a lot more similar to Glimmer than Angella is, and Glimmer is totally Prospit.

🔥 is it cheating to give 3 options? anyways: sff, she-ra, or hollow knight?
oh, not at all I love rambling about things
Hollow Knight
idc how lore compliant or noncompliant it is, Hornet is transfem (transed her gender from genderless to female). to me.
She-Ra:
I think folks tend to make adora a little too perfect within catradora's dynamic lol it makes her less interesting like don't get me wrong I love her but for example let's take Taking Control (because it's the one where she's the most in the wrong)
ever since Corridors, adora is fixated on getting catra back to the extent that she forgets to consider the 'after' (sort of "if I can just rescue catra from Horde Prime [then everything will be as it used to be]", where 'as it used to be' is some version of perfect that exists only in adora's head and was never real), so when confronted with the messy aftermath (catra's reaction), adora reacts really badly. the resolution of their conflict that episode isn't as much catra asking for forgiveness as adora letting go of the idea of "perfect" in her head and taking a step back, and catra being given the space to figure out what she wants, and bridging the gap.
(pretty sure I wrote a post sometime ago about how Taking Control parallels Stranded that talks about this in more detail, but from my memory it's pretty bad lol so)
+ what I've said about the miscommunication in Promise. (the posts are from a few years ago but still mostly hold up)
like a lot of the actively fucking up is done by my beloved failgirl catra, but adora's not a passive agent. she has her own issues that conflict badly with both her feelings for catra and catra's issues (very clearly seen in Promise where the crystal castle plays them against each other)
SFF:
see, I have a bunch of opinions about SFF that's probably objectively unpopular, but if I say them on tumblr I'd probably get accused of saying anodyne things to clout-chase /j
(for example "I wish SFF, especially the ones with a focus on worldbuilding, would show more trans and/or nonbinary people bc a lot of them are rather fixated on gender, and it would've been soooooo interesting to see trans folks in there")
hm... here, have a few. one of these's got to be unpopular right
I don't think parts of a story being one dimensional/simplified is inherently bad I think the issue moreso comes from story elements with differing levels of simplification interfacing with each other. so for example I don't mind the Horde under Horde Prime being an evil empire that is evil bc it's the same level of abstracted and symbolic as everything else in She-Ra, but I hated the Liao Kingdom in Y u w u bc Y u w u at least nominally tries to flesh out a complex political system and to tell a story about a corrupt system, so any time the Liao Kingdom enters the story it acts as this vortex sucking out any and all potential complexity
a lot of the posts you see floating around talking about SFF books as a whole are clearly by folks whose only interaction with the genre is close to only LotR and GoT, likely not even the books but only the movies/show
a lot of the time, when folks here refer to GRRM, it feels like they're really invoking an idea of grimdarkness than anything to do with his work, I assume due to the show. like take the often mocked "what's Aragorn's tax policy" line. folks take it as meaninglessly pedantic when, if I'm remembering this correctly, GRRM's point is that a king being kindhearted and good doesn't always translates to that king being good at governing. shrug folks usually use it as a starting point to make good posts but yk. feels a bit unfair to the guy
in general, I have a rule of thumb that if something is often labelled grimdark but still has lingering popularity, it isn't actually grimdark (or specifically, 'grimdark as it exists in the popular consciousness'). it's worked more often than it didn't (malazan, berserk)
fantasy is watercolour. I have no justification for this but it just feels like fantasy should be drawn/animated in watercolour

Do you have any atla in the shera headcanons (preferably Azutara related but go wild)
Hi, Anon! Thanks for the ask!! I’ll try to answer as best I can. Also I do have a lot of She Ra AU incorrect quotes that are mostly centered around Azutara just so you know.
My primary headcanon would be that Azula is Catra and Katara is Adora. Then everything else is kinda centered around that.
- Katara grew up in the Fire Nation because they stole her from the South Pole. She and Azula get along well from the get go.
- Katara leaves when she finds out the Avatar is back and her brother is with him which breaks Azula’s heart.
- Sokka, Katara and Aang travel but this time with Azula (who of course gets Mai and Ty Lee’s help) and Zuko chasing them. Mai seems like an Entrapta to me, Ty Lee would be Scorpia and Zuko would be Hordak.
- The Crossroads of Destiny is the Portal. Azula makes one final attempt to get Katara back but when she kills Aang, Katara gives her the ‘you’re dead to me’ look.
- It isn’t till the Boiling Rock, when Azula saves Zuko, Sokka, Hakoda, Suki and Chit Sang that she tells Zuko to apologize to Katara for her because she gets captured.
- Of course, Katara wants to go back for her which leads her and Zuko to going to the Capital instead of the Southern Raiders. I don’t think there would be really much mind control but there can be. Azula joins the Gaang.
- Azula and Katara go to the Capital in the finale battle where Azula confesses after Katara is hit dead center by a fireball.

Best Friend Squad and Double Trouble go to Disneyland and Dress up as the Disney Villains. Who goes as who? ;p
Glimmer - The evil Queen, obviously :-) Catra - Scar (and a very sexy Scar at that). (She could also do Casandra from the Tangled TV series, but that would hit a bit too close to home). Melog doesn't really participate, but they do some Hyenas when Catra need backup dancers. Bow - Hook! Adora - the horse in Tangled. Swift Wind does Flynn. They run around and chase each other a lot. Double Trouble - ALL of them. They run around like a kid in a toy shop unable to choose and switches costume every ten minutes. They do an amazing Cruella and a completely infuriating Gaston. It culminates in them making some kids cry when doing 'that guy who shot Bambi's mom' and Glimmer and Catra drag them away for a timeout. Then they have to do community service as ariel for awhile. Shut up. ariel doesn't talk.
In fact, once the others get word of it, they want to come to. Perfuma - a wonderfully overacted Maleficent Mermista - Rattigan. Has a really lazy costume but a well thought out evil plan. She could totally foil that stupid mouse detective. Sea Hawk - Gastooooooooon! Noooooo one sings like Gaston, no one swings like Gaston, no one else light up quite such a match as Gaston… Scorpia - Um… doesn't really want to be a villain. Comes as Cinderella instead because then she gets to wear a pretty dress. Frosta - Elsa. What, Elsa is not evil, you say? Well, you see, this is an au Elsa who turned evil due to traumatic events that started during the party scene and spiralled out of control resulting in anna's gruesome death… I hope you have time to listen, because she will narrate a 20+ chapter fanfic for you. Huntara - Rolls her eyes after being needled by Perfuma for hours, then spends two minutes in a craft shop and comes out as an incredibly - and I mean incredibly - hot Shan Yu. Women in a twenty km radius turn gay(er) from her mere existence. Lonnie - Grow up. We have better things to do, don't we boys… um, boys? Rogelio - The hunter in Tarzan Kyle - Want to go as Hook too, has a much worse costume then Bow. Bow borrows him his hat and they can be Hook together. Entrapta - Cruella! No, Hook! No, Dr Facilier! No, Silver! No… Ends up not dressing as anything because she's busy helping Darla with her Milennium Falcon cosplay. Hordak - mutters and grumbles but finally agrees when he realises how happy it will make Entrapta. Does a Frolo that completely floors everyone in how absolutely chilling it is. Hordak is all 'what? the role has a really easy mindset to get into'. Imp - Jago. Even more of a pest than usual Emily - Fine, technically Star Wars is Disney but R2D2 is not really a villain but… fine. Wrong Hordak - Rapunzel Casta - Yzma! She tries and fails to get Micah to come as Kronk Micah - Dr Facilier with some wicked special effects. Spinerella - Jafar as evil genie (mostly because of the wind effects) Netossa - Ursula. Surprisingly good at singing. angella (alive, somehow) - Is a bit hesitant, but finally Micah and Glimmer needels her into participating as the Queen of Hearts. Completely fails to make her over the top, but instead manages to deliver an incredibly chilling, subdued 'off with her head' that makes the former Horde soldiers suddenly ill at ease. Juliet - Fiiiine, if it will make Casta happy… Does Helga from atlantis. Madam Razz shows up at one point. No one is sure if she's doing an uncannily good Madame Mim or if she just happened to dress like that for the day.

It’s all Over Now
Days after all the fighting is over, Adora still had trouble getting used to relaxing without worrying about being attacked in the middle of the night. Catra does her best to comfort her but can understand why she feels like this
Adora runs through the forests as she’s attacked. Her friends have been strikes down and her sword broken. She stops at a cliff and turns to the threat that’s after her,Catra..who’s been chipped.
“Hey Adora.” Suddenly she’s holding herself onto the edge of the cliff. She struggle to get but but Catra just looks down on her. With a smug smile, Catra stomps onto her hands causing her to let go.
“Catra!”
“Catra!” Adora wakes up in a panic as she instantly gets up and starts to pace. Her fear makes her move. She has to be ready. Ready for the next attack. Ready for anything. Footsteps rushed down the hall and the door flew open. Adora instinctively got her sword and threw it at the wall next to the people that came in.
“Whoa! Watch it!” Catra yelped in response. Adora looked at her girlfriend and friends. Bow and Glimmer were just as worried as Catra.
“Sorry. Sorry. I just..had a nightmare. I’m ok.” Glimmer and Bow said nothing as they left. The three of them had been awake doing something Adora didn’t get. Something about management of the kingdom’s policies.
“It’s the same nightmare isn’t it?” Catra asked closing the door behind her. Adora kept her body stiff as she nodded slowly. Catra grabbed Adora’s hand and pulled her to bed. It was way to late to be awake but Catra wanted to help.
“You wanna talk about it?” She slowly questioned. Adora put her head in her hands to avoid eye contact. She felt weak in front of her but didn’t want to.
“You were chasing me. Everyone was gone and you..you knocked me off of a cliff. I failed.. I failed everyone.” Adora wanted to cry but Catra leaned in her not sure what to say.
“Adora..I know it’s hard to see that we’re at peace now but we are. I’m not gonna tell you to forget about what happened for basically all our lives. But accept that it’s over. I mean scars are signs that we’ve survived..right?” Catra pulled Adora out of her hands and stared at her. Catra touched the back of her neck. The scar of the diamond shaped chip was there. The chip was gone but the scar remains. A painful reminder of the past.
“It still stings,y’know. Sometimes I get phantom pains at random. I sometimes get so scared that it’s still there that I spend so long checking to see if it’s really gone.” Adora held her hand putting it on her forehead.
“Catra..I love you. I know it’s all over but it’s so hard to relax. I just can’t help but think that there’s always something wrong. I always thought that I was only meant to be used as a weapon..it’s why I did so much. Why I always sacrificed myself instead of thinking about myself. I mean what am I if not a weapon to help others..right?” Adora let tears flow as she tried to figure herself out.
Catra put their foreheads together.
“You’re a person. Someone who deserves to be selfish like the rest of us. You’re not a weapon because you’re She-ra. You’re one in the same so think of yourself. It’s all over now. You don’t have to do it anymore. You don’t need to give yourself up to a battle. Not anymore.”
Catra and Adora stayed in the room and cuddled all night. Adora’s nightmares faded away with time. Although her scars will always be a reminder with how she’s lived her life they also prove how much she’s survived. She’s a survivor in a war that’s all over now.

NIQUE WEASLEY AND THE MYSTERY OF THE HAZY MOORS || A HARRY POTTER FANFICTION, NEXT GEN
Tumblr media
Chapter Two:
Blood Is Thicker Than Water
after the supper, they went upstairs, in their dorm, accompanied by the headgirl, a tall girl on her fifth year.
the Fat Lady was awaiting, and asked: “password?”
“periscelides”
they entered into a warm room, with many red  sofas and a big stove, draped in large burgundy red sheets and blankets.
“as you see, this is the Common Room” the tall girl said, showing the children around “on the left, there is the male dormitory and on the right, there is the female dormitory. let's make Gryffindor proud. especially, support our Quidditch team on the mext match. please, have a great day tomorrow, as your first lesson day, but for now, have a good night” and then she asked to the male Head Boy to chaperone the male student, while she went with the girls. her cousin Jim waved at her goodbye, while Aiden was seriously confused by this interaction.
in the meanwhile, Niq thought that was the most old-fashioned and offensive thing ever experienced in life. why separating the dorms, her brother in Christ! also, the condescending tone used by the older girl irritated her so much, not even her mother talked to her like that. nor her older sister. she will be forever grateful for Fleur teaching her respect, how to respect and treat her equal while stating the boundaries as mother and daughter.
after they settled their clothes and their belongings and put themselves to bed, Aaren asked what quidditch was and Niq replied with a heartfelt laugh accompanied by: “you’re lucky, let me tell you. your mum did the best choice raising you with non-magical people. it's just the most boring sport ever. you'll see next month. everyone in my family is obsessed with it. my Aunt Ginny is a professional Quidditch player, she's actually really good, even. this sport is played with humans in broomsticks while chasing balls. don't ask me the rules because I honestly don't remember them correctly”
“sounds like cricket or even football” said Aaren like it was obvious. “so, who's that boy you were waving at, just few moments ago?”
Niq nonchalantly replied: “my cousin, my aunt Ginny first born. a pain in the arse, if you tell me”
“he's kind of cute” whispered Aaren, blushing.
“yeah, let him have that. he's also a dumb idiot” chuckled the redheaded girl. then, they fell asleep, Aaren first, few seconds later, Niq slept soundly too.
Niq’s sleep was dreamless, but very much resting.
————————————————————————
they woke up at the screeching sound of Howl, Aaren’s owl.
Niq decided that Howl was better than Errol, due to the fact he didn't bump on people due, however, poor sight. but Errol died three years ago, pampered in his pillows, because, let's face it, he didn't fly after 1994, so at least he didn't die under a snow storm.
“why did he scream like that?” asked Aaren still sleepy.
“at least he didn't wake up Emilia” Niq replied, turning her head over the other bed in the room, where a bundle of shiny black hair poped up between pillows and sheets.
“but he did wake up me!” said Adora with a cute sulking face, brushing the sleep away from her amber eyes. yes, Adora was now a Gryffindor and yes, she was pure and joyful. she said that the room was nice, and especially nicer was sharing it with the other girls. Niq was glad to be put in the same room with them, as they were the opposite of her, in term of personalities. and Emilia took this enthusiastically, as the night before, saying that she was pleased to be with them and trying to understand better the magical world, since she was a Muggle Born.
“whoever is making such noise this early, stay sure that will see my anger” said Emilia brushing her nose, trying to wake up.
all the girls begin to laugh and slowly they got off their beds. after dressing up into their uniforms, they quickly ran to the Great Hall, where professor Longbottom, their Head House and Herbology Assistant Professor, alongside Professor Sprout, handed to first years Gryffindor their timetables. Aiden was there too but passing next to them, ignoring the four girls, especially Aaren, and began to study a big book at the Gryffindor table.
“one of these days I will soundly slap that arrogant face of him” Aaren said, fuming.
“hey, it's not the best using violence, you know, right?” asked Niq, seriously worried. “maybe he wanted to be alone and study more for the first lesson. it's respectable”
“it might be, but he really does have a smackable face!” replied Aaren, still angry.
“ugh, we have the first period with Slytherin, during potions” suddenly said Emilia, rolling her chocolate eyes while heading to their tables.
“uh, yes, potions!” said Aaren happily.
Niq was now sitting in her place, while eating some porridge and bacon. her gaze wandered through the Hall and she saw the blonde Slytherin girl while she ate her breakfast and laughed with other two girls. she noticed that the Slytherin was wearing glasses and found it a little bit cute.
“should we ask to the second year where the class is?” asked Adora, shyly towards Emilia.
“oh yes, we should, because let's be honest, navigating through this big castle is not an easy task” replied Emilia. they then asked to a random second year girl where the classroom was and she happily instructed them.
they arrived safe and soundly into a dungeon-like place, where a really old man welcomed them enthusiastically.
“hello, everyone. i can see from your little faces that you all are nervous and afraid. but i want to say to not worry, because we'll begin from the basics. I'm professor Slughorn and unfortunately, it's my last year teaching at Hogwarts. I'm old and tired but i will do my best to give solid fundamentals to this science, and ...”
a voice of a girl stormed into the classroom and said panting: “I'm sorry professor Slughorn but we had trouble finding the classroom”
the professor looked at them confused for a few seconds and then, like lighting bulb was lit, he reassured: “don’t worry miss Fletcher and miss Zachry, but please don't make it into an habit” concluded with a soft laugh. the girls sat down and the lesson began. it was indeed the basics, like how Bezoars were practically a common antidote to most venous potions and the ingredients of Forgetfulness Potions and their properties. Nique took as much notes as possible while Emilia began to play with her quill, barely paying attention to the lesson. Adora nudged her, as if saying "pay attention, please!"
Niq eyes after the lesson observed that Helen Fletcher was still underline some things on their text book. when finished, the blonde one spitted: “cat got your tongue, Weasley?”
“as if, Fletcher” said the redhead, a bit too much offended.
“let's go, Nellie” said her friend, Nina Zachry, followed by the other Nina, Nina Young. “don't pay attention to her, she wants to provoke you”
“hey! she literally said no word and yet you got passive aggressive. quit this superiority attitude or ...” Emilia interjected.
“shut your mouth, Lee. don't interject into conversation that are not involving you” Nellie tone was icy and merciless. “didn't your mom taught you basic social cues?”
“yes and she taught me not to gaslight people” replied Emilia with a victorious smile. “and to protect your friends”
“wow, so brave of you” said the taller Nina.
“at least we don't go around insulting people, Zachry, just for looking at them” Aaren voice was irritated as well.
“what she was looking at exactly?” asked Nina Young, obnoxiously.
“how much slow she was following the lesson” lied Niq.
“Weasley, not to be cruel, but I'll make you cry on the final exam” said Nellie with a grin.
“you bet, that's a challenge” and that was the most Weasley thing Niq said in her entire life. she did not like rudeness and if it was for a challenge with that piece of obnoxiousness, why not.
“okay, guys, let's go to Herbology” said Adora with a soft tone and when the Gryffindor girls went by, Adora still waved goodbye to the other Slytherin girls.
but why did Nellie Fletcher’s personality intrigued her that much?

Pairings: Adora/Catra (Catradora). Fandom: She-Ra and the Princesses of Power (2018).
Rating: T. Chapters: 1/? (Ongoing). Words: 6k so far.
Summary: College was supposed to be life-changing, but Adora wasn’t ready to change. Catra couldn’t keep living like their parents raised them, so she did the only thing she could: she left. She found new friends, and though she loves Glimmer and Bow, she never really moved on. After long enough apart to grow – she hopes, anyway – she runs into Adora again in a hallway. Adora lost her friend and lost her purpose, but it turns out that’s how she found herself. She’s ready to chase Catra until they either fix themselves or prove once and for all it will never work. She kind of really needs it to work, though, because she has realized a lot of things since Catra left and one of them is that she never knew what love was before. (It’s a Swapped Friend Groups AU, but really it’s just two hurt kids finding their way in the world)

Well, it’s not quite a master’s thesis, but this is (the first of) a series of posts on why Catra and Adora are the best love story in the history of kids TV animation and maybe the greatest love story in the history of TV. This may in some ways be faint praise - romance on TV is generally not very good compared with books or movies. Often it’s just some will they/won’t they sexual tension that is defused by getting characters together and re-heightened by breaking them up. TV is full of nearly shark jumping pointless dramas like Sam and Diane (Cheers, holy fuck am I dating myself, though that was technically before my time), Ross and Rachel (Friends, which was no Cheers) etc, but also some less annoying couples like Ben and Leslie (Parks and Rec) or Amy and Jake (Bk99) who are mostly just kind of cute and fun. Other shows, like the X-Files, teased viewers for years with unresolved sexual tension. In kids shows most romances are, appropriate for their target viewers, mild, sweet relationships based more on self-conscious flirting and blushing than on complex and conflicted feelings or deep passions - which is pretty realistic when the characters are young teens or even mid-teens. Some of these relationships are really well done - Finn and Flame Princess, Dipper and Pacifica (yeah I ship them), the early stages of Katara and Aang (before the showrunners imbued this childhood crush with cosmic significance), Steven and Connie, etc. Catra and Adora, though, are different. Their love story is not a side plot or a sub plot, it’s the heart of the show. It isn’t a childhood crush, it’s a very messy and passionate relationship between two young adults. She-Ra is an emotionally complex lesbian romance just as much as it is a thrilling action/adventure show. Everything about their relationship is baked into the show’s plot, its themes, hell even its musical score. The dramatic tension between Catra and Adora is not the result of stretching out a flirtation for ratings, but a coherent dramatic arc that runs through the entire show. As Noelle said, he made Catradora so central that execs couldn’t take it out without ruining the show. And the show is better for it. In this series of posts I’m going to try to show why, as well as showing why She-Ra is such a fantastic love story.
First off, let’s talk about how Catra and Adora’s character arcs are foils for each other, and how they come together and apart through the series. This is actually a post that I’ve been working on for a while but I keep summarizing the show rather than cutting to the chase, so I’m not going to recite many plot points so much as sketch out what’s going on with the dramatic structure at the time. But also, let’s talk about what each character’s arc is saying, and how they are commenting on each other. Spoiler alert: Catra’s arc is a subversion and critique of stories of empowerment through ruthless self-assertion and revenge, while Adora’s arc is a subversion and critique of chosen one narratives and stories of self-denial and self-transcendence.
When the show starts, Adora and Catra are shown as rivals and friends - their first scene starts the recurring motif of them reaching out for each other as one of them dangles above an abyss, as well as establishing their flirtatious banter and easy camaraderie. We quickly learn that these two young women plan to conquer the world together. These scenes and later flashbacks show Catra and Adora as deeply enmeshed in each others lives, to the point where neither of them (but especially Catra) have clear identities outside of one another. There is so much genuine love on both sides before Adora leaves, but also resentment, envy and fear, especially on Catra’s side, as well as a protectiveness on Adora’s side that deprives Catra of her autonomy. They are both being abused by Shadow Weaver - Catra physically  and emotionally, Adora emotionally. It wouldn’t be too much to say that Shadow Weaver holds Catra hostage to control Adora (this is why critiques that Adora abandoned Catra to be abused are actually kind of messed up, since they accept Shadow Weaver’s premise that Adora is responsible for what Shadow Weaver does to Catra). In addition, Catra and Adora actually see the world incredibly differently. Adora already sees the world in terms of right, wrong and her destiny to right wrongs - this is why it’s important for her  to accept the Horde’s obvious lies - she couldn’t keep living if she didn’t. Catra, on the other hand, sees the world solely in terms of survival and personal loyalty - everything for her is about preserving herself and the person she cares about - Adora.
Then, when Adora finds the sword, she leaves because it’s the right thing to do. Catra doesn’t even have a concept of ‘the right thing to do’ being something she should care about, or perhaps, something she can care about as an irredeemably evil, awful fuck-up. So at Thaymor neither one understands where the other is coming from, and Catra and Adora begin to part. This is the first turning point in their relationship. Adora chooses duty over what she desires, Catra chooses to protect herself (such as she sees it) and nurse her sense of betrayal and abandonment.
Their relationship until Promise is a kind of weird Frenemy thing that is fascinating to watch and sold me on the show. Neither one wants to fully admit to themselves that the other is now their enemy, neither one has given up on changing the other’s mind. Each is furious at the other, and desperate to see her again at the same time. There’s a lot of heartache and just as much sexual tension, especially at Princess Prom. Both of them come alive when they fight each other (more about that in a later post). But they’re already growing apart - Adora embracing her destiny as She-Ra, Catra rising in the ranks for the Horde. Adora now has the purpose she always wanted, plus other friends and a sense of being chosen to do something great, while Catra now has power - the means to protect herself from people like Shadow Weaver as well as the vindication she had always been denied, and even the opportunity to beat Shadow Weaver at her own game.
The next turning point is Promise. Holy fuck, this episode. It’s an episode that is even more heartbreaking after you’ve watched the show because you know just how much worse things are going to get, and yet, it’s a necessary part of both of their character arcs. Even through season 1 Catra and Adora had remained very much enmeshed in each others lives in an increasingly fucked up way as they grew apart but refused to turn away from each other. Even though they aren’t -exactly- a romantic couple (Adora doesn’t recognize and acknowledge her feelings until the last episode of Season 5), Season 1 of She-Ra is one of the worst breakups I have seen on TV. As I said in a couple of previous posts, this is the kind of shit that the Mountain Goats write songs about. Everything that was poisoning their love for each other even before episode 1 bubbles to the surface and combines with them fighting on opposite sides of the war to make a truly fucked up situation. In the end, it’s Catra that makes the choice to turn away from Adora. This isn’t a -good- decision. It’s spiteful, and destructive, and based on an outright deluded understanding of their relationship (inspired by Light Hope’s manipulations and her own issues), but it’s in some ways a necessary decision. Catra has been so wrapped up in Adora for so long that she isn’t going to be able to figure out who -she- is without cutting Adora out of her life. And the same is true of Adora.
But each of them do this in about the worst way possible. Catra embraces destruction, ambition, manipulation and outright cruelty, turning the tactics of her abusers against them and against everyone around her. She first triumphs over Shadow Weaver and manipulates Entrapta into trying to corrupt Etheria itself. Meanwhile Adora ‘lets go’ and commits herself to the self-denying mantle of She-Ra. Over the next several seasons, their respective paths will nearly lead both Catra and Adora to their deaths (in the Season 4 finale).
For the next season (counting season 2 and 3 as one) Catra and Adora are still closely linked, but as enemies. Still, there’s more than enough flirtation between them (that ‘Hey Catra’ in the first episode of Season 2 is something else), and especially on Adora’s side we see her hold back with Catra, and often take responsibility for the harm Catra inflicts, just like she had when they were kids. Yet they still drift apart - after facing off every other episode in Season 1, they spend less and less time on screen together through season 2 and 3. Catra continues her ascent to power and descent into villainy while Adora becomes more of a stressed out mess as she takes the fate of the world and the wellbeing of everyone she cares about on her admittedly broad shoulders. Catra’s one moment of vulnerability is rewarded by Shadow Weaver’s betrayal and her exile, then Catra triumphs in ruthless badass fashion through sheer desperation and aggression. In the Crimson Wastes, we see Catra at her most independent, and she almost seems happy. But once Adora shows up and Catra hears about Shadow Weaver, she’s sucked back into the worst of her resentments, and she makes very clear that being happy is less important to her than making sure Adora is miserable.
Tumblr media
This changes everything. Catra completely breaks with reality and tries to kill Adora, herself and the world rather than lose to Adora and Shadow Weaver (I do think it’s important to remember that she does that after Shadow Weaver nearly kills her). Catra betrays everyone around her when she exiles Entrapta, threatens Scopria and lies to Hordak. Then she flips the switch. When Adora tries to fix things, Catra fights to her own death to make sure that the world disintegrates with her. For her part, Adora fights first to understand what is wrong with the world and then to fix it. Finally she tells Catra that destroying the world is her choice and she has to live with it, decks her, and then sees her off with a death glare once the portal is closed. With this, Adora writes Catra off even if, as she says later, she never never hated her. By doing that, Adora casts off the guilt that had dogged her and takes responsibility for her own life rather than someone else’s - this is actually a huge step for her, and one that will become more important in Season 4.
Season 4 is in many ways the nadir of their relationship. They only see each other once during the entire season, in Fluterrina, when Adora tries to blast Catra, much to the latter’s shock. There’s a sense in that scene that Catra is trying to have the same flirtatious enmity she used to have with Adora, and Adora is having none of it. Catra almost seems hurt by this, which is an early hint at how isolated Catra is beginning to feel. Catra spends the rest of the season at her highest and lowest. On the one hand she spends most of 12 episodes winning by every standard she has ever claimed to care about, besting Hordak himself in single combat and making herself co-ruler of the Horde and coming within a day’s march of ending the Rebellion. In many ways it is the ultimate empowerment fantasy - the abused young woman has defeated her abusers, showed up everyone who doubted her and forced everyone to respect her. But I think it’s striking that the show starts with her and Adora dreaming of conquering the world together and in Season 4 Catra nearly succeeds in conquering it alone, almost like she was trying to live out her old shared fantasy while proving she didn’t need her former best friend.
At the same time, Catra is clearly miserable. She’s always been unhappy, but in Season 4 we see her completely isolated and lying to herself and everyone who will listen in a desperate attempt to justify her actions. Turning the tactics of Hordak and Shadow Weaver against them to gain power and then against Scorpia and Entrapta to maintain it haven’t vindicated Catra, they’ve made her more and more alone as Entrapta is exiled and Scorpia drifts away. Meanwhile Catra reaches out to Double Trouble, and her interactions with them reek of a kind of desperate desire to have someone in her life (the feeling of their interaction is of an unhealthy casual relationship where one partner becomes emotionally invested and the other takes advantage of that while denying the other the closeness they desire). As people leave her, one after the other, it becomes clearer and clearer that Catra doesn’t want power at all - she wants connection, friendship, love, and power is a very poor replacement. As I said in my long Catra rant, Season 4 is both her ‘Walter White as a Catgirl’ season and the beginning of her redemption. Everything comes to head when Sparkles destroys everything Catra has tried to achieve, Double Trouble delivers those harsh truths and Horde Prime shows up and makes it all irrelevant, just highlighting how futile all her struggles and sacrifices and crimes have been.
Meanwhile Adora spends Season 4 becoming her own her and her own woman. After telling off Catra, she grows more and more disillusioned with Light Hope and critical of Glimmer (though the latter has more than a shade of her old habit of taking responsibility for others - Adora’s development is not linear). She’s gained the courage and confidence to strike out her own path, not just follow a destiny. At the season’s end she once again breaks with her best friend to do what is right, and discards the destiny that she was being prepared for. But in this case she isn’t chasing one packaged destiny for another, instead she’s making her own choice and literally shattering the thing that she thought gave her life purpose. It’s badass, and heartbreaking, and along with decking Catra and jumping after Catra into the abyss (see below) it’s the perfect Adora moment.
In many ways Season 5 starts with Catra and Adora farther apart than they have ever been. They aren’t even enemies anymore, they’re completely out of each other’s lives. And both Catra and Adora are lost at the beginning of Season 5 - Catra is useless and alone on Prime’s ship, completely defeated despite ostensibly being on the winning side, and she goes through the motions of her normal plotting without any particular conviction and none of her normal flair. Meanwhile Adora is even more miserable and self-destructive than usual, throwing herself at Horde Bots and working herself until she drops of exhaustion. In a very real way they both stay lost until they have a chance to help the other. Catra takes responsibility for what she’s done and what she can do, saves Glimmer (at least partly for Adora’s sake), apologizes to Adora, and sacrifices herself. Adora only seems to come alive when she decides to turn around, face Prime, and save the cat. And when she does, Catra and Adora’s arcs, which had separated so completely in season 4, come crashing back together to end the series.
Adora during Save the Cat is such a contrast with the uncertain, hesitant and self-destructive wreck we’ve seen so far in Season 5. This is possibly her craziest plan in 3 years of mostly cazy plans, but she never wavers or questions herself. Even when Chipped Catra appears and we see Adora’s heart break while we watch, Adora doesn’t back down or relent. She keeps at it even as the tears stream down her face. She fights better trying to save Catra without She-Ra’s powers than she fought at the Battle of Bright Moon with them. Catra’s just about as desperate - we see her cry and plead, and now is probably as good a time to any to point out how amazing a job both VAs did throughout the show, but especially in this episode, and how good a job the board artists did.
Seeing each other for the first time in a year, and only the second time since Catra blew everything up, Catra and Adora are probably the rawest and least restrained we’ve ever seen them. There’s barely any banter, no bravado, and no pretense that they are anything other than two women who desperately need each other (Prime doesn’t help with ‘You broke my heart’.) Then Catra is flung to her death, Adora jumps after her, breaks both her legs in the fall (we see her crawl to Catra, as though she couldn’t walk) and becomes the real She-Ra. It’s such a triumphant and deeply queer moment seeing a woman transformed into a warrior goddess to protect the woman she loves, and it’s the reason that, as dark as it is, Save the Cat is my Comfort Food episode.
Tumblr media
Let’s not sleep on Taking Control, though. This episode is like a microcosm of what this show does best, especially the A plot with Catra and Adora. Catra’s reversion to lashing out at everyone and her refusal to be open to Adora shows just how much of a struggle this whole ‘being good and trying to connect to people’ thing is. Catra’s outburst gives Adora a chance to stand up for herself and refuse to be Catra’s punching bag, while also not trying to control her. Adora’s ultimatum gives Catra a chance to reach out to Adora (quite literally), and allow herself to be vulnerable. In this episode, we see just how far Catra and Adora have come since the messed up stew of their relationship in Season 1. Adora lets Catra be responsible for her own actions; Catra lets herself be vulnerable to Adora and takes responsibility for her actions. They’re both better people and better friends and better partners than they were, and the show has shown this in a strikingly nuanced and realistic way.
The important thing to note in the next few episodes of Season 5 isn’t just how much closer Catra and Adora get to each other and how much they flirt (So much. So much, y’all) but just how -happy- they are. We see both of them transformed in the other’s presence. Basically, since they’ve parted, both Catra and Adora have been defined in no small part by how miserable they often are. They have both had their triumphs and their lighter moments, but there’s been a sense of melancholy dogging both Catra and Adora since episode 1. And now that they’re together again, that lifts, somewhat. Catra’s verbal barbs have lost their venom, and she can openly show how much she cares for Adora and even Bow and Glimmer. She’s still herself - snarky, cynical, somewhat devious - but she’s not engaged in a self-destructive zero-sum struggle with everyone around her. Meanwhile Adora has spent 4 seasons being a neurotic and sometimes nearly joyless mess who takes responsibility for everything and often doesn’t let herself enjoy anything other than the odd BFS group hug (exceptions include trying to uh...impress Huntara and reveling with the butterfly ladies of Elberron in Flutterina).  Around Catra, though, she’s a cocky, swaggering jock who gives as good as she gets. It’s a side of Adora we’ve only seen hints of before, and one that’s so much more confident and joyful even as the world is ending around her. Apart, Catra had tried to protect and vindicate herself with power and conquest, while Adora had tried to forget herself in duty and sacrifice. Together, they can be themselves again. This dynamic is crucial to the show’s portrayal of Catra and Adora’s romance because it doesn’t just show how much they love each other, but how they’re -good- for each other now that they’ve grown as people, and that they are so much better than they were when they were apart.
Tumblr media
Until Shadow Weaver shows up. Their old abuser reintroduces tensions but even then things are different than they were. Now Catra isn’t just resentful of how Shadow Weaver prefers Adora - she’s  protective of Adora, which is clearest in Failsafe when she calls Shadow Weaver out for being willing to sacrifice Adora. And while Adora takes the Failsafe, it isn’t to follow her destiny or because she has a death wish - it’s because she loves her friends, and she is the only one who has any hope of doing this and living (though Catra’s suggestion that Shadow Weaver take it is a good one). And finally, when Catra leaves Adora, it isn’t because she hates Adora, nor, despite what she says, is it because she really thinks that Adora chose Shadow Weaver. At least, not exactly. It’s because Catra loves Adora, and can admit that to herself, and can’t stay around and watch the woman she loves sacrifice herself rather than choosing Catra. Before Catra leaves, she asks Adora ‘What do you want?” It’s a question that echoes Shadow Weaver’s speech in Episode 1: ‘isn’t this what you always wanted since you could want anything?’ As much as Adora has grown as a person, and defined herself and stood up for what she thinks is right, she still has never answered that question - it’s never been ‘what do I want’ but ‘what do I have to do?’ and that’s how Adora answers Catra’s question. This is Adora’s last gasp as a self-transcending hero, letting go of what she wants (not that she ever dared articulate what that was) in order to do what must be done. And it nearly kills her and dooms the universe, because Adora can’t be the hero that she needs to be by being anyone less than herself.
But it’s losing Catra that inspires Adora to tell off Shadow Weaver for good (not that she’d ever really warmed to her after season 1). And it’s love for Adora that inspires Catra to stand up to Shadow Weaver and demand that she do the right thing. In both cases, Catra and Adora aren’t just standing up to their abuser, but holding her to account for the harm she’s caused, and it’s the love that they have for each other that inspires them to do this. In Catra’s case in particular her refusal to let Shadow Weaver weasel out of finding Adora is a much greater triumph over Shadow Weaver than beating her up and breaking her mask in Season 1 - it’s proof not so much to Shadow Weaver but to Catra herself that Catra really is better than this and that she deserves better than this. It’s not turning her abuser’s tactics against her, but truly holding her to a moral standard and demanding that she do the right thing.
And then there’s Catra and Adora together at the heart. Catra has already come back for Adora and stayed to the end, choosing to die with her even if she can’t share a life together (not out of some death wish, but because Adora needs her). And Adora, who’s been avoiding answering the question for three fucking years, finally let’s herself want Catra when Catra finally confesses her love (breaking the last of her self-protective shields) and asks Adora to stay -for her-. And by admitting what she wants, Adora can truly be at peace with herself and be the hero she needs to be, lesbianism saves the universe, The End.
So anyway, that’s how Catra and Adora’s stories are woven together and how they compliment and comment on each other. Narrativiely, Adora and Catra start together, come apart, find something of themselves, and truly find themselves and each other when they are reunited. Thematically, they are critiquing seemingly opposing narrative tropes - empowerment narratives and narratives of self sacrifice. But by showing the flaws in both types of story and showing how neither self-seeking empowerment nor self-negating self sacrifice can actually make us happy, She-Ra asks and answers more profound questions than most prestige dramas for adults do. I’ll get into how the show sells the idea that the power of love can bring us happiness (and save the world) in a future post. But next up, I’m going to celebrate just how much Catra and Adora’s relationship revels in ambiguity, complexity and contradiction and so tells a grown up love story in a kid’s show.

A Good Friend (Platonic friendship! Scorpia x reader)
Tumblr media
Description: Etheria was finally free after years and years of being at war with itself. Peace was brought back, and everyone was celebrating. Only... you had a lingering feeling of sadness and guilt inside you, and the magic that would heal your heart was a hug from your friend Scorpia. But a strange sense of shyness seemed to hold you back.
Fanfic type: Hurt/comfort
(Here you go, more hurt/comfort for one of my fave characters cause I’m a slut for that kind of fanfiction. This isn’t a romantic ship fic, more like a friendship between the reader and Scorpia, but hopefully you’ll enjoy it nonetheless. This might just be really bad but I enjoyed making it, gotta have the fluff. Anyways hope you enjoy!)
Everything just seemed... grey for the past week just gone by.
Etheria was thriving once again, glowing with contentment and basking in its bright, beautiful magic having defeated Horde Prime once and for all only a couple of months ago. It seemed like the murky grey cloud fog had lifted, letting in sunshine and cerulean skies that had been shying away for such a long time. A celebration was ongoing, it called for it. Multiple victory parties, love, peace, reunion, recovery, redemption, unbreakable friendships. It were all cherished like never before. Life was just right.
Only, for a while now, you felt a surreal sort of emptiness. Almost a sense of insincerity. Up until now you had been celebrating the liberation of Etheria, but recently, something inside you sort of changed. You took a look around you, seeing Adora and Catra so complete together. The same went for Bow and Glimmer. Scorpia and Perfuma. Mermista and Sea Hawk. Entrapta and Hordak. Even Spinnerella and Netossa. All of these happy couples had such a solidarity to the point where you felt... left out. Forgotten. Yes, Frosta may not be in a relationship either, but for someone as young as herself, it was understandable why she wasn’t. Regardless, you felt as though you weren’t as welcome in the squad anymore, even though in reality that wasn’t the case in the slightest, you were always welcome in the squad.
Not only this, but you had also been haunted by insecurity, doubt, and even a strong sense of guilt that ate away at you. Looking around, seeing everyone’s amazing abilities and contributions to the rebellion. You felt as though you were nothing of value, even though that wasn’t the case either. Everyone in the rebellion appreciates your abilities.
And to top it all off, you had been slightly sick for the past week. This hadn’t affected you as much as your overwhelmingly negative thoughts had, but a lingering headache, stomach cramps, mild dehydration and lethargy was definitely bearing a burden on you. Thankfully whatever you had wasn’t too contagious.
All of these problems combined into one big, ugly internal demon caused you to go very quiet. Even when the rebellion would have post-war reunions where everyone would visit Bright Moon for a couple of days. Lately you had been spacing out a lot more, not really talking to anyone and sitting alone, for you felt silenced by your feelings of loneliness. It seemed like this ugly internal demon could be chased away with only one thing. A hug.
Scorpia. Whenever even thinking of the word hug, you instantly thought of your friend Scorpia. Despite being from such an uncaring place such as the Horde, she was notorious for being a hugger, and a great one at that. Not only did her kind, sunny personality always made you smile, but it also seemed her arms were made of magic. Not just physically with such strong lightning powers, but emotionally, for being cuddled in between her big, muscular arms was enough to soften any heart and heal any and all feelings of sorrow. One of Scorpia’s hugs was just what you needed.
However, you didn’t speak a word about this, you were too shy to ask. You and everyone else knew that she was in a relationship with Perfuma, and your feelings of isolation mingled with this known fact, forming an obsessive, discouraging worry. Observing Scorpia and how happy she was with Perfuma and how she spent a lot of her time with her, seeing them hug and kiss each other, seeing them talk to each other and garden together, it made you feel happy for them. Although this caused you to develop an irrational fear of somehow ruining this beautiful bond between them.
This created a horrible scenario in your head that you’d ask Scorpia for a hug and she’d coldly decline, glaring at you and trying to shoo you away with her big scarlet claws, even though you knew this was completely out of her character and these thoughts were illogical, but they still played on your mind. This thought was followed by another equally as desolate thought that you asking for a hug would wreck hers and Perfuma’s relationship somehow, as though that simple little request was now a bomb ready to explode and destroy all your friendships. The mere thought of this broke your heart and caused you to grip tighter to the cushion you were hugging as a makeshift Scorpia while you were heavily spaced out.
All of a sudden, a large, muscular pair of arms wrapped around you, snapping you out of your disorientation. It took you a few seconds to realise who it was. It was Scorpia, giving you a hug. The much-needed hug you've been wanting to ask for for so long. You looked at her in mild astonishment, it was as though she read your mind.
"(Y/n), are you alright? I noticed that you haven’t been acting like yourself lately, you seem upset, and I just wanted to check in with you, is everything okay?" As she spoke, it felt as though all the things you were going through were finally being acknowledged. Your throat tightened and hot tears began to blur your vision, slipping down your cheeks. The scorpion woman's brow furrowed with concern once she saw how upset you were, it saddened her.
"Oh no, you're crying... Come here-" she lifted you up and embraced you in her clawed arms, bringing you into another hug as you broke down into sobs. "It's gonna be okay..." she spoke softly, trying to reassure you.
You wept into her shoulder for a good while, letting out all the tears you had been holding back, as though you were releasing all the pain that sweltered inside you. Scorpia hugged you very carefully yet closely, caressing your back slowly and soothingly, hoping that you'd feel better. She cared about you, so seeing you cry made her want to cry too.
After a while of weeping in comfortable silence, you dried your teary eyes and asked her shyly "Can I... can I talk to you?" to which Scorpia placed you back down to where you were seated, put her arm around you and replied "Of course you can, you can talk to me about anything!"
"I've been going through a tough time recently, and I wanted to ask you for a hug as your hugs make me feel better but I felt too shy to do so because I know you're in a relationship with Perfuma so I was worried that I'd make you feel awkward and ruin yours and Perfuma's relationship, and I was worried that you didn't want to be friends with me anymore-"
Scorpia was very perplexed by what you were telling her. To think that her, the certified best hugger around, the CEO and queen of good cosy cuddles, would retire from her hugging expertise and reserve it for just her partner?
"(Y/n)... of COURSE you can have a hug. Just because I'm in a relationship, that doesn't make me any less of a hugger! You shoulda seen me at one of the victory parties, I was just hugging everyone out- maybe I was a bit tipsy, I dunno, but the point is, I'll always be there to give you a hug or keep you company when you need it, you don't need to feel shy to ask, you're my friend, and I wanna help you. You won't make things awkward at all, I promise!”
A playful gleam in her sepia-brown eyes, Scorpia extended her arms towards you. "Now come here, I'm gonna give you such a good hug that all your sadness will disappear!" At her relieving words, you felt as though the worry that had been bottled up inside you had all been drained out, and you wrapped your arms around her and she wrapped her arms around you, lifting you up in one of her signature hugs. Her arms truly were made of magic, you felt a lot better already.
"You have no idea how much I needed to hear that..." you mumbled appreciatively, with tears spilling down your cheeks once again. But these tears were filled with relief and happiness and freedom from the thoughts that had trapped you for so long.
After a few seconds, Scorpia piped up once again. “Also you mentioned you’ve been going through a tough time, do you wanna come hang out with me and Perfuma? In that way you can maybe talk to us about what’s been upsetting you, we’ll be able to help for sure! And plus, Perfuma’s real good at giving advice-”
This request for you to join them delighted you, and you nodded in reciprocation.
It felt as though the big, ugly internal demon of negative thoughts had shrunk into a little speck of dust. The senses of insecurities and problems still lingered, but now you had both Scorpia AND Perfuma to talk to about them. They’re sure to chase those insecurities away. Life seemed to be getting brighter, at last.
