My Review of Kakegurui

How did I get into this anime? I was curious about this particular title for quite some time. There aren’t really that many anime titles where the main premise is about gambling and even when one exists, the anime itself stinks.

Hyakkaou Private Academy is the home to the rich and powerful’s offspring. Basically, the entire school is filled with recipients of the lucky sperm club. On the surface, the school seems to be doing its job of teaching these kids the real world. But once classes are over, everyone gambles. Take your pick of the games! Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you go broke, and sometimes you become someone’s pet bitch. The student council has a system in place where if someone falls into debt due to gambling, they become ‘house pets’. The boys are known as ‘fidos’ and the girls are known as ‘mittens’. If they become a house pet, they must wear a tag around their neck and get harassed by classmates.

Ryouta Suzui is one such unlucky mongrel as he found himself falling to Mary Saotome. Mary is pretty handy when it comes to gambling and has crumbled several unlucky students. Enter Yumeko Jabami! She’s the newest transfer student to Hyakkaou and to Mary, an easy target to take advantage of. Unfortunately for Mary, she’s going to learn the hard way in a game of “fuck around and find out”. Yumeko is loving these games, but she loves figuring out the cheaters of the game even more.

Who’s bluffing? Poker face or kill face?! Who will win? Who will lose? Enter the rabbit hole to find out.

BETWEEN THE SUB AND THE DUB…AND THE OTHER DUB: So, things started off turbulent as this anime was in Netflix jail. Only recently has Netflix decided to give the U.S. audience some anime on a week-by-week basis. ONLY SOME ANIME! But seeing as this came out in 2017, unless you were living in Japan or had a VPN, you were shit outta luck to seeing this. But it eventually got released to U.S. Netflix with several languages available. Not only that but the live action Kakegurui is also on Netflix, as well as recent spin-off Kakegurui Twin. So, Netflix has total control over the Kakegurui franchise. End of story, right?

As of 2021, Sentai Filmworks licensed Kakegurui. Not a big surprise as Sentai has decided to pick up several animes that were exclusive to sites like Amazon, Crunchyroll, and Netflix. But then Sentai decided to give Kakegurui a dub. Replace the L.A. based voices with the ones in Houston. I’m not sure what and why all of this is happening and why it’s absolutely necessary to have two English dubs when one dub was recorded not too long ago. The only other time I see this happen is with Dragon Ball and whenever Animax grabs a title. Was this payback from when Netflix redubbed Neon Genesis Evangelion? I know Sentai has nothing to do with Evangelion, but most of the people of that company do. Here’s my opinion on the matter. I prefer the Netflix dub for Kakegurui. Also, the Netflix dub to Evangelion sucks eggs and should be wiped from this Earth. Moving on!

What’s really weird about this is that if you go to Hidive’s website, they don’t even have a page for Kakegurui. I guess they just have the rights to put it out on blu-ray and not the right to stream it. Here are the voice actors, yo!

*Mary is played by Christina Kelly (known for Alice on Food Wars, Sophia on Chunibyo, Kouko on Golden Time, Nanami on Pet Girl of Sakura Hall, and Mine on Akame ga Kill)

SHIPPING: Oh, there are a lot of ships that people flock to with this series. But aside from seeing all the obvious lesbianism going down at the student council, we do see obvious stuff when it comes to Itsuki’s feelings for Kaede. Other than that, some might point to the words exchanged between Ryouta and Yumeko in the season one finale. But there’s one thing everyone should know while watching this anime. The only ship that matters here is Any Character x Gambling.

Ryouta has no chance of satisfying Yumeko unless he can bring the heat in a game. The way I see it, unless Ryouta makes Yumeko moist down there in a game, it’s not gonna happen. We only saw it once, so it’s not off the table.

In season two, we did see a bit of unrequited love. It’s been clear from her debut that Kirari’s secretary Sayaka loves her. Imagine that, a lesbian named Sayaka! Never saw that before, hahaha! Kirari did say some things to Sayaka that could be taken as a dismissal. But then we get the scene where Sayaka loses a game and has to jump from a building and Kirari jumps off with her. I don’t know if it’s love or just bitches being crazy.

And as for Kakegurui Twin, Mary Saotome has a childhood friend named Tsuzura. Ever since Mary transferred to this school, Tsuzura has been hanging with Mary. Not just that, but sees Mary as her prince. And yes, her imagination goes that far, wedding dress and all. That’s great and everything but what the hell happened to Tsuzura in the main series? If she loves Mary Saotome so much, where the hell was she in those 24 episodes?

CAN’T READ MY, CAN’T READ MY…: Let’s talk about the kill faces. Everyone has one! Even the men! But in this anime, the kill face is majority a women’s sport. Let’s face it, the majority of this anime is focused on the women and how many kill faces one can make in the span of a 22-minute episode. Usually, we’ll see this when the random character feels cocky or whenever Yumeko catches them cheating or lying.

Seriously though, the only face that scares me is whenever Yumeko gets angry when Midari does something to anger her. Out of all the scary faces I see in this anime, Yumeko’s displeasure of being with Midari is the one that scares me the most. Yumeko is actually nicer to the characters who literally poisoned her than she is to Midari.

ENDING TO SEASON ONE: It’s been pretty clear that the student council has been running this show from day one. President Kirari put in the system of “fidos” and “mittens” for those who are in debt from gambling. Not only that, but draws up “life plans” for those poor souls. These life plans are pretty much what they sound like; to force the debtor to give up any dreams of their own in place of what the student council has written out for you. Mary was not down with that and slowly crawled her way out of debt. But we’ve got other shit going down from the inside. There seems to be a traitor in the student council.

Yumeko has had her fair share of run-ins with members of the student council with different outcomes. Yumeko defeated Itsuki (the chick who likes taking off people’s fingernails) and Itsuki in return was dropped from student council. Yuriko however defeated Yumeko and that caused Yumeko to temporarily become a house pet. And then the battle between Yumeko and Midari (the eyepatch chick with a death wish) ended with Yumeko as the victor. And then Yumeko took out Yumemi! But that last one revealed someone who was plotting Yumemi’s downfall and that was the student council treasurer, Kaede.

Kaede is a cold, calculating, blunt man. And if I might add, perfect casting choice for Tomokazu Sugita! Good on you, Japan! More so, he’s one of a few characters that didn’t expose numerous “kill faces” when up against Yumeko. And I gotta say, quite refreshing to see more male characters. I love the heavy lesbianism as much as the next girl, but mix it up sometimes! Kaede had high ambitions of becoming student council president and was willing to screw anybody over to get there. So, will he be able to take Yumeko down in a match? Nah! Kaede embarrassed himself in front of a large crowd that included Yumemi’s fan club, the entire student council, and even the president. Kaede was then stripped of his title, went into a hysterical coma, and his hair went all Marie Antoinette.

Moving away from that drama, Yumeko is about to go face-to-face with the president of the student council, Kirari. Both girls are intimidating and have an unbelievable love for gambling. The stakes for this game are pretty dire as if either girl loses, they must drop out of the school, never to return. Long story short, it was a tie so neither girl has to leave. We learn a few things about these characters in this episode, however that’s not the important part for the shipping community. For the shippers, some clever wordage was tossed around that could give us a dropped hint for Yumeko x Ryouta. I think Yumeko and Ryouta’s words in the final episode were meant differently from what we’re all thinking. On another note, I’m not sure if it was Kirari playing or if it was her doppelganger vice president.

In the final couple of minutes of season one, Itsuki nurses Kaede (who is still in his hysterical coma). Kirari disbands the student council. And Yumeko is still gambling for the sheer thrill of it.

SEASON TWO: As I said before, Kirari is disbanding the student council. Add to that, she’s making the next student council election a big gambling event. The one with the most chips at the end of the month becomes the next student council president. Not just that, but the winner also becomes the head of the Momobami clan. Kirari was the head of the clan and her stepping down from that position has brought out 11 members of the clan to transfer to the school and compete for that honor. Each one of these 11 members all have last names that end with ‘bami’. Interestingly enough, Yumeko’s last name also ends with ‘bami’, but as for her being related to any of these people is shrouded in mystery. Yumeko’s family and everything about her is an enigma. We know that she has an older sister that’s in a hospital of some sort and that Yumeko literally has an unlimited amount of money at her disposal.

As one would expect, Yumeko is going to take part of these challenges. Many want Yumeko to become the next president, but all Yumeko wants is to gamble. Others have invested their time with other competitors like Mary Saotome and several of the random Momobami clan members. And because she can’t pass up a good game, Kirari is also competing to stay president. I don’t get it if she’s the one that disbanded the student council and started this whole melee election. Whatever! Crazy bitches be crazy bitches!

ENDING: Yumeko has had some life-or-death challenges this season. This doesn’t scare her; in fact, she gets a kick when the stakes are ultimately high and the scent of death reeks. Unless Midari is involved, but that’s to be expected, she’s annoying. Nevertheless, Yumeko did go through a lot of frightening moments including being poisoned, almost gambled away a pinky finger, and playing a game where the loser would have to plunge to their death. Yumeko has made it through all of that and thensome. Although, the poisoning was pretty gnarly, girl almost died there. When it comes to the election, Kirari is still in the lead as she holds the most vote coins. Yumeko, Mary, and Ryouta wind up in the top 10. But no one can really come close to Kirari. Seriously girl, what was the point of all this?

But those Bami members are determined to take down Kirari by any means necessary. Terano might seem like the big kingpin of this gang of Bami members. She is in second place after all and was behind some of the bouts Yumeko faced including this tax game she played alongside Kaede and Itsuki. But what does that old saying go, never trust a pretty face or something like that? Rei, the one who has been seen as just a moderator at most instances showed their true colors in the season two finale during an auction for vote chips. Rei wants revenge against the Momobami family and will happily see to Kirari’s downfall. Call it a lifetime of putting up a façade and being a servant to the clan.

I was kinda surprised Rei was really biologically female. I say ‘kinda’ because Romi Park voiced her. So I had a small feeling that was the case.

Anyways, Yumeko in her oh-so-delicious fashion managed to take down Rei and then doing an ultimate gamble. I honestly don’t know what could possibly surpass all the gambles that were life-or-death. Yumeko nearly risked her life in several gambles, including almost dying from being poisoned. But I guess this time it was for the Jabami name. Regardless of all the turmoil, Yumeko wound up victorious, Rei dresses like a girl for once, Yumeko nearly loses all of her vote chip winnings from the game against Rei, and there’s no real conclusion to who’s going to run the student council.

Okay, so…I thought the first season was pretty solid and left an opportunity for a second season with the student council shake-up. But then season two kinda fell flat with the introduction of all the ‘bami’ clan members. Maybe the Mary Saotome spin-off will clear things up! Five years after the main anime ends, Netflix drops the Mary Saotome spin-off. Now will this clear up all the weird things surrounding her involvement with the mysterious vice president? I’m gonna spoil it right here and say, no. There are only 6 episodes and most of them revolve around Mary and a bunch of characters we don’t see in the main series.

TWIN: Much like Yumeko, Mary was also a transfer student. And also like Yumeko, her high school debut captured the attention of many as Mary caught wise to what the other students were dishing out in terms of games. But Mary was scouted by different people. Some wanted her to join certain clubs. Others wanted her to become a student council member. And then there are those who are putting their faith in Mary to take down the student council’s barbaric system of ‘fidos’ and ‘mittens’. Seeing as that system was thriving one year later, it looks like that Mary wasn’t able to put a fork in it. But nice try with the resistance, guys!

There’s only six episodes. There are a few new characters that we never see in the original anime. Most of these characters are definitely not third years on the verge of graduating. So why haven’t we seen these people before? Are we going to get more episodes in the future? Is the manga adaptation still in publication? We still haven’t seen what happens to Midari’s eye. I mean, we know what happens, but we just haven’t gotten the gory viewing. And what happened to Tsuzura? She loves Mary! Did she graduate early, get killed by the student council, commit suicide for Mary’s adoration, transfer schools, get slapped with one of those student council life plans that went into effect immediately, what!? I’d believe the third option myself. Something has to account for not seeing her in the main series.

Kakegurui has been very entertaining. And even the spin-off with Mary was interesting. I’m hoping for another batch of episodes in the future. Again, only the first season had my attention. The second kinda bored me with the student council election. Maybe it was the addition of all those clan members or the fact that I expected more from certain characters. As far as having an anime revolve around gambling, it wasn’t all bad. It could have been worse. There has been worse from what I’ve seen. Maybe in the future, I’ll check out the Kaiji series as I heard that had to do with gambling. Maybe another day once I finish the romcom I replaced Kakegurui with.

In the meantime, if you want to check out Kakegurui, Netflix has every episode available for streaming. This includes the first season, second season, the Twin spin-off, and I think there’s even a live-action Kakegurui on the platform. However, Sentai Filmworks released the first 2 seasons on blu-ray. Just remember that there’s a different English dub than what Netflix gave.

Treasure Planet. So underrated, which is totally unfair. Beautiful story and one of the few (if not only) Disney movies that don't have a love interest for the MC. It's all about growing up and finding yourself and found family. In fact, just realized, Jim is like Stag in that regard. Both were abandoned at a young age by their fathers and became rebellious to the point of being impossible to deal with until their father figure came into their life. And also, never having a father of my own to look up to, this really resonates with me. Haha, Deshi's dad left him at a young age too. I'm sensing a theme. 😆 Unlike Stag though, Deshi doesn't need a father figure in the sense that he's not looking for one nor does he find one. (Although Lord Carroll does get close...)

Sinbad, another underrated film. By Dreamworks this time. The most alluring part of this film:

That fucking hair!!! Man, I could just watch how her hair flows forever. Like, nobody has ever made hair that moves like this before, or since! It's close to underwater hair, but not quite, so Little Mermaid doesn't count. But seriously, that fucking hair. And Sinbad is pretty funny. 😆 Most quoted scene between Deo and I, a dude gets thrown up by a sea monster, shakes it off, and goes to attack again. "Give that guy a raise." -Sinbad Yes, please. He deserves it. 😀👍

Anastasia. I loved this movie growing up. Rasputin what such a terrifying bad guy, and Anastasia was anything but weak. Despite it not being a Disney flick at the time, it broke the mold on Disney princesses. Tangled and Frozen hadn't come out yet and Anastasia was the only princess to do what she wants, when she wants, how she wants. Instead of the man saving her from some evil villain, he saves her in the very beginning from a threat to the royal family. And then she saves herself from Rasputin at the end. Well, and Dimitri, because, you know, he was hanging off a bridge. So many movies before this were misogynistic and so many after are so feminist that they really diss on males, but in Anastasia, they are equals simply facing the world together, and to me, that's just beautiful. A lot has happened these past few weeks. A lot of realizations and self-reflecting. Also I've gotten back into Attack on Titan. It reminds me of 2015, very bitter sweet. I was such a different person back then, it's almost surreal. I remember hanging out with Lyn and AZ. I hope Lyn's doing ok. The last time I spoke to them was probably a year ago. I remember watching Attack on Titan crack videos, Vandetta Cosplay videos, Sky High Production, the Alchemist Fox, the animated big 4, Hiccup, Jack Frost, Merida and Elsa. It's all coming back and I miss it a lot. I need to make a list of all nostalgic things, but I feel like it would take away from the nostalgia. I should download a bunch of videos/music, put it on a flashdrive, and watch it when I'm 18.

On a lighter note, I started skateboarding again, and I'm going to catsit my neighbor's cat these next few days. Last week I met up with Libby at Red Eye to study for advanced chemistry. Jackson (I think) came to fifth period and sat with Libby and I. I waved to Jackson in the parking lot. This year has been good socially- I feel like I'm myself and I know more people. I just need to work on keeping up if we lose daily contact.

For Christmas this year, I asked for:

Eren Yeager, Equestrian Figure :D Purple Hair dye Thunderhead by Shusterman Moon and Stars Tapestry Two Door Cinema Club Tshirt Mother Mother CDs

and probably a few other things. I really want some Attack on Titan figures, they're all freaking cool. Right now I'm listening to the Attack on Titan soundtrack and dang it gets so emotional and amazing. Especially eye-water, Attack on Titan, Barricades and so much more. Midterms are next week so I should prob study. I've been thinking to, I want to get a tattoo with some of my favorite anime. Very small, but as a reminder to be myself and the emotions it taught me. Haha if I died people would totally laugh at that XD. Some things I should include:

Crossover scenario…

{Rainy is @rainy-nomad for those who need context}

Ok folks so…I was whittled down and I decided to both read and watch the anime Assassination Classroom and…I’m hooked, also Rainy [the one who got me into it] started doing a crossover with it and…I decided to do a small fic just to both entertain myself and those who enjoy my content. As all who read my work know both Rainy and I collaborated on a the AU name Jitterbug for her AU of Sun and Moon from Security Breach. Those who read my little stories know of my oc Clover for FNAF Security Breach, for those who don’t, check out my work here on tumblr.

Anyway on to the point, fans of Rainy’s work will note the new crossovers an Sun and Moon being Sensei Koro’s sons, inspired I then started thinking about Clover being among his children. I’ve already thought of so many scenarios and scenes that would be a hoot to write but this in one particular scene in question…… I just HAD TO WRITE AND SHARE!

An so you know I just started this series so I’m not familiar with most characters but thats why I got the manga, however I’m gonna work with only a small group of characters till I’m properly familiar with the series. Please bare with me and enjoy.

[Well….shall we get started?]

Classroom 3-E was strangely…quiet today, everyone could feel something was..wrong. Even the teacher seemed to be out of sorts, constantly turning to look out the window. Nagisa wasn’t sure what it was but…this feeling started three days ago, everyone in the main building had suddenly gotten violently sick. He turned to look at Sun and Moon…the two of them staring out the window just like their father.

“Hey…Nagisa….” He turned to Kayano, her expression giving away more then words could say…she knew something.

“Yeah?”

“Do you think…it’s true?”

‘It’ being the rumor of a strange plague going around, Kunugigaoka Junior High wasn’t the only place being affected by this strange sickness. Another school was hit as well and there were a few cases in some hospitals, the sickness mostly consisted of sever abdominal pain, violent vomiting/diarrhea that lead to dehydration if not monitored carefully, but it wasn’t deadly but the affects lasted a while.

However…something didn’t feel right about this so called ‘plague’ true it affected their school but the first school that got this sickness was far away and remote. On top of that only a few students got ill, the rest were all fine and they recovered in less then a few hours while everyone in their school continued to suffer. Not just students but teachers as well, classroom 3-E was the only class unaffected…

But thats not what really bothered him..not exactly, what bothered him was about two weeks ago a group of kids from the main building were talking about a a random cat that died saying it was ‘disposed’ of by someone…and of course Classe E was the one getting blamed. It was really disgusting to hear the rumors, everyone thinking they tortured the cat. From what he heard the cat just got hit by a car, it was old an slow. He knew this…cause he actually saw this cat periodically around the old building.

When he found the cat it had just gotten hit by a car…poor thing….saw it had a collar but no name tag, just a little charm on it. The charm itself didn’t look special, just a little four leaf clover shaped charm, something you’d find in a little bead set…an yet something about it felt…odd. Weird enough that when he gave the cat a proper burial he kept the charm and collar just in case he found the cats owner….that was also…when-

“Nagisa!” Kayano whispered harshly.

Nagisa jumped a little and turned to Kayano “The illness….no I-“

“What?!…You didn’t hear? Everyone’s saying the illness is being caused by a ghost roaming around the school!”

…What? This was new to him, now there was a ghost?

“Quit being stupid, that was started out of hysteria. Pretty sure it’s some kind of virius, just haven’t figured out what kind yet.” Growled Ryoma.

Nagisa looked back to the front of the class, Sensei Koro was still writing out some sentences while staring outside. There was something going on…but what?

Suddenly the school bell rang for lunch, Sensei Koro placed down one of the pieces of chalk and turned to his class.

“Lunchtime everyone! I’m gonna pop over to Tokyo for some spicy ramen, Sunny, Moony can you do me a favor. I’ll be back in a little bit, if you all need anything hit me up on my cellphone!” An like that he took off into the sky, going his usual Mach 20.

Sun and Moon reached into their bags pulling out an envelope labeled for them, the moment the envelopes came out…they disappeared. Having the same speed and efficiency as their father, the two of them walking calmly out of the classroom.

“What do you think was in the letters?” Pondered Kanzaki.

“Who knows…probably something about eating healthy but given neither of them looked embarrassed or annoyed…it’s safe to say that it probably has to do with whats going on in school.” Ms.Vitch was next to chime in.

Karasuma was on the phone with someone from the ministry of health, giving details on the conditions of some of the students.

The only one not really affected by what was going on was Karma, he seemed to be as calm as ever, heck he probably was enjoying the fact the teachers in the main part of the school were getting sick too and badly for that matter. But everyone agreed that no one could be safe from this, everyone was bringing hand sanitizer. Nevertheless everyone was eating their lunches, Moon and Sun came back after ten minutes…looking a little troubled.

“Hey, you guys ok?” Asked Kayano.

Neither of them answered, Karma turn and motioned everyone outside. Nagisa, Kayano, Kanzaki, Vitch and Karasuma followed while the rest of the class stayed. They gathered outside near the equipment shed, once there Karma sat down and started eating.

“So whats up?” Kanzaki opened his bento.

“Lets cut to the chase, we all know somethings going on in the main building and already its blaming us. I eves dropped on some students and already they plan to come up here and trash our building thinking we’re the cause of this strange illness. Their gonna do it in three days.” Smiled Karma taking a bite of fried chicken.

….Wait, he looked in his box, he didn’t pack fried chicken, he packed meatballs…he sat it aside, probably the Sensei’s doing.

“Your not gonna eat that, it looks delicious!” Said Kayano.

“…Not hungry, anyway like I said everyone in the main building is blaming us for this sickness. Problem is they got no proof, if we clear up whats going on maybe we can prevent them from getting up here and doing damage.”

“Why do they always blame us, seriously their paranoid.” Said Kanzaki.

“Never the less they’re probably serious on coming up here, the fact we’re not affected is what’s fueling their paranoia anyway. If some of us got sick with this so called ‘plague’ they’d still think we’re the cause.” Said Karasuma.

He continued. “Anyway we sent samples over to the ministry of health and it turns out that its not a virus, it’s some kind of spore.”

“Spore?” Everyone turned to him.

“Thats what our scientists are saying, its harmless but given its affects on the students it still needs to be dealt with quickly and quietly…though we need to know where to start.”

Irina suddenly thought of something and smirked. “I say we investigate the school itself, check the air systems and see if someone released anything in there. Keep it small though, too many of use will make things difficult.”

“Should we bring Koro-Sensei?” Asked Kayano.

“No…he seems preoccupied with something else, but we should tell him what we’re doing. Maybe bring Sun an Moon with us though.” Said Karasuma, it was a good idea he had to give Irina that.

[Skip to near midnight]

Nagisa, Kayano, Karasuma, Irina, Kanzaki, accompanied by Sun and Moon met at the back of the main building of the school. Everyone wearing masks, Sun and Moon wearing their own style of course.

“Thanks for helping us guys.” Kayano turned to Sun and gave him a little bow.

“Its no trouble, we’d like to see this clear up as soon as possible…” Sun gave a nervous little chuckle before turning to his brother…who didn’t say anything.

“Your dad ok with this?” Ask Irina.

“He’s….sorta occupied with something else right now, we told him we’re gonna help you guys but we didn’t really give details.” Said Sun.

“Alright enough talk, lets begin.” Said Karasuma.

Everyone laid out the plan, scout out the main places the spores could could be found, Sun and Moon would take the roof, Karasuma and Kayano would check the classrooms, Irina and Kanzaki would check the gym while Nagisa would check the kitchen.

Finding it proved to be no problem, the kitchen seemed clean but looks were very deceiving. He started looking around…suddenly regretting not grabbing a proper dinner at home. His stomach growled a bit but ignored it….thats when he twitched feeling. He looked down and in his hand was…a a bento wrapped in a green cloth.

Nagisa sighed and pulled out his walkie talkie.

“Hey Sun, I appreciate the thought but I don’t think its safe to eat something right now.”

There was a pause…then Moon responded. “What the heck are you talking about?”

“….I just had a bento dropped into my hand a moment ago, since your dad’s not here I assumed it was Sun…wait Moon did you-“

Moon cut him off. “No one brought food, if there’s spores it’d be too dangerous to do so.”

There was…a long pause before Nagisa looked down at his hand, he was about to say something when…he suddenly found the box was now sitting on the counter, unwrapped and a pair of chopsticks all set neat and tightly. There was even a freshly made cup of tea setting there too, there was a note sitting there too.

‘Please enjoy, thank you!’

There was no name…but there was a picture of a four leaf clover, needless to say he wasn’t gonna eat it, not when there-

Wait…a clover? He reached into his pocket and pulled out the charm, but the moment he looked at it..it disappeared. He flinched…then he felt it, someone behind him. He turned to find…well an adult but for a second he didn’t see anything…until he looked down. There standing before him was…a kid….wearing a plague doctor mask…but the clothes were not what he expected. She wore a scarf on her head with a flower on it, a white apron with green frills and a four leaf clover with its four leafs decorated differently with either hearts, leaves, spots and one was just a solid color. The clothes under the apron from what Nagisa could see were were a pair of pastel overalls and a white shirt.

Then he noticed….this kid had ‘four’ arms….similar to Sun and Moon.

“….Um….hi-“

An like that the figure disappeared, the walkie talkie up by his head already calling.

“Sun, Moon, your dad said you guys have an older brother, does he…wear a plague mask by any chance?”

There was a long pause before Moon answered.

“No…we have a sister that does though….”

“WHAT?!” Irina shouted over the walkie.

“Wait a minute, I thought your dad said you guys had a brother!” Said Kayano next.

“Yeah we do, but you guys only asked about ‘sons’ you never asked if he had any daughters…which he does, she’s still in elementary school though.” Replied Sun….

But then asked. “Why do you ask?”

“Does she also….wear an apron with a clover on it, wear a cloth headband with a flower-“

An the twins were by his side.

“WHERE IS SHE?!” They screamed, both of them sounding like they were told their dad was wearing a bikini or something.

“Whoa! S-She was just here…she made me something to eat apparently.”

The twins looked over the food and then…both looked up at each other before Moon picked up his cellphone and made a call.

“…Dad its me, I think we found out what Clover’s been up to. Check her little cabinet and see if those new mushrooms she brought home are gone…..thought so, she’s here at the school now. Yeah we’re sure, Nagisa just saw her and she even made him something to eat, its her.” Moon had just hung up when Koro-Sensei appeared beside them.

“What on earth is my baby doing here so late at night!?”

Nagisa gave a blank stare before Koro-Sensei looked at the boxed lunch, opening it there was a gourmet spread of rolled eggs, veggies, sliced hotdogs that looked like octopi and fresh fried chicken.

“Oh without a doubt she’s here…but this doesn’t make sense why is she in ‘plague’ mode an why is she targeting the school?” Pondered Koro-Sensei.

Everyone soon converged in the kitchen and was given a quick update on the situation, Karasuma turned to Sun and started the questions.

“So whats the deal with your ‘sister’ and this ‘plague mode’ your father’s talking about?”

“Her name is Clover and ‘plague’ mode is what when our sister is feeling extremely spiteful or is has a serious grudge against someone or something. Lately she’s been at the house cause her school up in the mountains had some issues with flooding that was about a month ago an she was ok…up until two weeks ago.” Moon sighed rubbing the back of his head.

“What happened two weeks ago?” Asked Irina.

“We’re not sure, she started being distant and locking herself up in her room. Not just that but she was wearing her mask at all times, that for us is never a good sign.”

Wait…two weeks ago…Nagisa spoke next.

“Your sister…wouldn’t have had a pet cat would she?”

Everyone turned to him.

“….There is a stray she looks after….why?” Asked Sun.

Nagisa reached into his pocket and pulled out the charm and collar.

“Two weeks ago a cat got ran over by a car, I gave it a proper burial but kept the collar and charm in case I ran into the owner.” He handed the items over to Koro-Sensei.

Instantly he bursted into tears, not just him but Sun too….Moon cried too but his was more subdued…everyone stared.

“MY POOR BABY’S IN MOURNING!!!” Cried Koro-Sensei.

“POOR CLOVER!!! SHE DIDN’T WANT US TO SEE HER SAD!!!” Cried the twins.

Everyone just stared at them before Irina spoke up. “This doesn’t explain anything, what does her cat dying have anything to do with everyone getting sick?!”

Kayano thought for a moment…then a thought came to mind, she turned to Nagisa. “Nagisa, you said you buried the cat right?”

Nagisa nodded.

“Where exactly did you bury the cat?”

“I buried it near that vacant lot…an I left it some flowers too, silly I know but I felt bad for it.” It was then he noticed Kayano’s face going slightly pale.

“….Kaedae?” Kanzaki stepped closer to her.

“I saw a few kids from the elite classes near there…I saw them kicking some dirt around along with some flowers. I overheard them saying some mean things about our class but I didn’t think anything of it….but now-“

The room went cold.

“….This explains everything…” said Koro-Sensei, halting his tears and gently tapping his chin with a tentacle, he returned the collar and charm back to Nagisa who proceeded to pocket the items.

He continued. “Clover hasn’t touched our class room because one, its a classroom I personally teach an her brothers attend and two she spared our classroom from her ‘plague’ out of gratitude to Nagisa for giving her favorite kitty a proper burial. The students from the main building probably saw you bury the cat and believed it was yours thus they proceeded to desecrate that poor creatures grave. Clover must have witnessed both events an thus triggered ‘plague’ mode in her. Before her school was closed due to the flooding damage there was an incident involving a special kind of mushroom at her school.”

“Mushroom?” Everyone looked up.

“Its a very unique species found only in the mountains, a few children had picked these mushrooms and on a dare at them. They all came down with the same ailments as the students here, however my daughter has advance medical knowledge and was able to treat them within an hour. The mushroom itself is toxic but not deadly even in large quantities, its side effects involve sever abdominal pain and…well as we all know of the two other side affects.” Koro-Sensei reached out a long tentacle and pulled out a pot, with another dragged it all along the inside of the cooking utensil.

Pulling it out he held it close to his face, he turned to look at everything.

“No doubt about it, she spiked all the food in the school with it. Its also safe to say she used her powder capsules of it in everyone’s bentos. Knowing my little sweetie she probably overheard a lot of students and teachers badmouthing our class and thus decided to teach them all a lesson, not just the ones who messed up the grave.”

With their speed the twins along with their father had disinfected the entire kitchen, cleaning it of the substance.

“I’ll talk to the Principle tomorrow let him know the issue has been dealt with.” Said Karasuma, honestly he wasn’t feeling to sorry for the students at least the ones affected by poisoning.

The principles methods don’t account for basic human compassion…just fear and power, Nagisa smiled knowing that the threat was dealt with. When everyone was distracted he turned and walked out into the hallway…he turned slightly and…there was Clover standing there, back to the wall. Nagisa wasn’t too surprised, now knowing who this person was….

“Your Clover…right?” Asked Nagisa.

She nodded.

Nagisa smiled, walked over and knelt down infront of her, reaching into his pocket he pulled out both the collar and charm and held them out to her…who gingerly took them from his hand.

“I was hoping to return this…here you go, also thank you for the food…I’ll go eat it now.” Nagisa stood up but paused…an then held out his hand.

“I’m sure your dad and brothers wanna talk to you…its ok I’ll go in with you.” He held out his hand…but watched as she reached and pulled off her mask, her face was more round then Sun an Moons but she had big green eyes glittered and a sweet little button nose.

She sniffled and tried to wipe away her tears.

“I-I’m sorry….the-the kids here were s-so mean! I got angry!” She sobbed brokenly, pushing herself into him and hugging him tightly. “They said so many me-mean things about my kitty, an more stuff about daddy’s class….I-I’m sorry!”

Nagisa wasn’t sure what to do…given she lost a pet and hearing people mock her father’s class must’ve been a lot for her.

“SWEETIE!!”

Koro-Sensei bursted through the kitchen doors and already his daughter was up in his tentacles, hankie’s dabbing her cheeks and nose.

“My poor little darling! Why didn’t you tell daddy what was wrong, or your brothers we would have understood..”

“I-I didn’t want you to be sad daddy! You or-or Moony or S-Sunny! WAAAHHH!!!” The little one buried herself into his chest and sobbed.

“OH my selfless angel, you don’t ever have to worry about us!” Said Koro-Sensei, sobbing along with his daughter…soon joined by his twins.

…….Things just became more weird now.

Korosuu Translation - Chapter Three

Sorry, I know it's been a while. Actually, this chapter was super long so I took a very extended break from this entire thing. But I'm back now. If you're new here, this is OFFICIAL content! It's an untranslated (so far) short story, you can find chapters one and two here. I do also need to put out a trigger warning for this one as it involves some voyeurism.

Mirror Time

“Oh right… it seems like there’s a possibility.” Chiba returned to his own desk, and took out his notebook, writing utensils, and a triangle ruler. Chiba started to explain to Hayami, who was stood in front of his desk looking down at his notebook, whilst looking at the diagram. “When you hit the wall with a bullet, it flies out at the same angle as it flies in. Like this.”

“If you aim without Korosensei noticing, it seems like you can’t do it with a single ricochet.”

At Hayami’s words, Chiba nods whilst writing another line in his notebook. “That’s right. At least twice, but preferably three times or more, but if it ricochets too much the error will increase, and the momentum will drop. We might have to experiment with how many times it’s practical.”

“So, how do you aim for that? I get how to do it once, but I can’t really imagine twice or more.”

Whilst holding his mechanical pencil, Chiba leaned back in the chair and folded his arms. “That’s the problem. For example, in order to hit the target I’ve written here twice, you have to calculate the points that satisfy this diagram.”

[Illustration] An experiment conducted by Chiba to see if it is possible to snipe the target as inferred by the article. By solving the graphic problem as shown in this diagram, it is possible to deduce the point of the wall to aim at in order to hit the target with a bullet.

Whilst he was speaking, Chiba drew a number of right angled triangles on the diagram.

Hayami looked at the diagram and frowned a little. “What’s this? I have to solve this every time?”

“Solving it is necessary,” Chiba replied, and then began to calculate the first position to hit the bullet.

With a sideways glance, Hayami turned to the back of the classroom, where the black metal box usually stood.

“This kind of problem, we could figure it out right away with Ritsu.”

The Autonomous Thinking Fixed Gun Unit AI (classmate) – which is called Ritsu by Class 3E, has been removed since the beginning of the week for maintenance. It’s only for two or three days, but it’s the first time the whole body has been taken out and maintained.

“Even so, I don’t want to rely on her.” Chiba checked the problem he had solved many times, took out the airsoft pistol from his bag, and then stood up. “This is an assassination to see how much I can do as a sniper. I feel like I have to think for myself.”

“Huh? Well, I don’t know.”

“So, Hayami, I want you to place the target in the exact location shown in this diagram.”

Chiba said it simply, but actually aiming was quite troublesome. After accurately measuring the distance with a measuring tape brought from the store room and positioning it, a desk is placed there and a yellow balloon that looks like Koro Sensei is attached.

Chiba had to determine his own standing position and the point at which the bullet would hit first.

“This is bad, can you call move to the window?” After all the work was done, Chiba called out to his friends in the classroom.

With faces full of interest, everyone moves towards the window as they were told, and Chiba squeezes the pistol’s trigger in the direction of the X mark that’s written in chalk on the blackboard. The bullet that was fired hit the blackboard and ricocheted off with a dry sound, then rebounded off the wall on the corridor side, before it headed for the target in the back of the classroom.

The first shot was more than a meter off. The second one was about 30cm. The third and forth shots also missed but not as badly as the first one, and the fifth one hit.

“You did it!”

The classmates who were watching cheered as the balloon broke with a banging sound. But, Chiba’s facial expression didn’t match the mood.

“What’s wrong? Is it that you can get more accuracy if you aim a rifle from a vantage sniping position?”

In response to Hayami’s words, Chiba shook his head. “No, that’s not the case. I knew I could do it this way, but… the problem is that,” Chiba pointed to the blackboard, “it takes too much time to figure out the point with the current method. Actually, there’s also height differences, so we have to do the same calculation in the vertical direction.”

Chiba shook his head. “There are two problems with that. One is that you can’t guide the target the way you want. Especially when it comes to such a sever shooting like this, even the slightest misalignment isn’t good.”

Hayami nodded. “It’s not easy for Chiba to make such fine adjustments at this range. What’s the other thing?”

“I want to try and do this assassination without anyone’s help. I also said it before but, it’s kind of a stubbornness thing.”

“Is that right?”

Chiba looked down at the notebook on the desk. “The legendary sniper actually serves a number of moving targets. In other words, they’re aiming in the shortest amount of time they can. That’s something like a method we’re unaware of, or I wonder if there’s a special calculation trick.”

When he said that, Chiba was hit on the shoulder, and raised his head.

Okajima is standing there with a grin. “When you said that, I felt like I realised something!” Okajima gave a big thumbs up and a fearless smile as he said so, looking suspicious in front of Chiba and Hayami.

“Come on boys, get out!”

The fifth class of the day was a PE Class. The classroom is occupied by the girls, and the boys are kicked out into the corridor to change clothes.

“Sometimes I want the boys to do it before. B-because I’ll always only just make it.” Shiota Nagisa complains, stood with a rolled up PE uniform under his arm.

“What are you talking about, Nagisa? It’s fine, this our time to face our fated challenge.”

“Okajima kun, don’t you think it’s irresponsible to do this method by trial and error?”

Ignoring Nagisa’s strained smile, Okajima took a small mirror out of his pocket with a strangely calm expression. Additionally, he also took out a selfie stick.

“Hey you, isn’t that what the girls beat the hell out of us for using the other day??”

Whilst Terasaka Ryouma was gazing at him dumbfoundedly, Okajima tore up some adhesive tape into small pieces and started to attach the mirror to the tip of the selfie stick.

“Well, look. It was a mistake to hold it in a position the girls could see. This time, it’ll be perfect.”

“Isn’t this only adding more flaws to a plan full of holes…?” Said Kimura Justice.

“Hehe, look at it,” Okajima extended the selfie stick smoothly, and started to explain with a calm facial expression. “Well, while the girls are changing clothes, the windows on the corridor side are covered with dark curtains. Therefore, you can’t see what’s inside as it is but-“

“No, it seems that the curtains are there to stop us seeing.”

Ignoring whoever’s voice pointed that out, Okajima continues. “By some blessing, there’s just one small gap in the top window due to a slack in the curtain. The other day I was found by holding a mirror directly here, but today I won’t repeat the same mistake.”

“Then what will you do?”

After turning a fearless smile to Terasaka, who was tired of his face, Okajima held his selfie stick over his head.

“A while ago, when Chiba and the others were trying to shoot, I was secretly setting up the mirror in the classroom. I was pinpointed by the story of the ricochet. One mirror will soon be exposed, but many more mirrors are placed so subtly that no matter how vigilant the girls are, they won’t notice they’re being peeped through.”

[Illustration] Okajima’s new voyeur method, which improves on the experience found using mirrors for voyeurism and relays it with multiple mirrors so it will not be noticed. In principle, no matter how many mirrors you use, what you see from here can be seen by the other party.

“Ah-….. I thought that was the case,” Kimura showed a forced smile.

“Maybe this was in the calculation – huh?”

Okajima looked up at the mirror, frowned at him, and moved his selfie stick slightly. “Okay, I saw it!”

Okajima smiled in gratification, did a small triumphant pose, and deliberately took a compact digital camera out of his pocket with his free hand.

“What’s that?” Nagisa pointed a finger with a dumbfounded look on his face.

Okajima answered with a grin. “As you’d expect, I couldn’t bring out a camera. That would be just like talking loudly in the corridor about taking voyeur photos. That’s why I always carry a point-and-shoot with me in case of these situations. Please pay attention to the point that I don’t compromise with a smart phone.”

No one was listening to that, but Okajima completely disregarded the air in the room and released the shutter.

FLASH!

The camera’s strobe flashed and emitted a small sound.

“Oops, I wouldn’t usually make this kind of mistake,” Okajima said as he turned off the strobe and released the shutter again.

“O-KA-JI-MA!”

The door of the classroom opened forcefully, and the girls in their PE uniforms jumped out at once.

“Agh!”

With a well-coordinated move, the girls cut off any way for Okajima to escape. Okajima shouted with a half cracked voice whilst he was being pulled down on the spot and kicked with terrifying dexterity.

“W-why did I get exposed? The plan should have been perfect!”

“We could see the light from your strobe!” Kataoka looked down at Okajima with a dangerous expression on her face.

“That’s forbidden, Okajima kun.”

At the voice, the girls turn around and look over their shoulders. Standing in front of the open door was Koro Sensei holding a steaming paper bag from his open mouth.

“The idea isn’t bad. It’s not bad, but don’t forget that what you can see through the mirror, you can see from the other side as well. Additionally, if you use a camera’s flash, you may as well be saying ‘please notice me!’.”

After putting up with that speech, the girls shouted all at once. “Why do you look so self-important, you shameless teacher!”

“What kind of motive is there for suddenly coming in through the window when we’re changing!” Kataoka glares at Koro Sensei whilst pulling out a knife for the enemy teacher.

“Niyu, nyuya?! It’s a misunderstanding! I’m trying to inform distorted people like Okajima kun!”

“There’s no use in arguing!”

Moving with all their practised skills, the girls simultaneously held their weapons at the ready for their enemy teacher. They attacked a cowering Koro Sensei by firing BB bullets and using their special anti-sensei material knives.

“That’s why it’s a misunderstanding – hya, my shopping bag tore, and the bao buns I bought with great trouble are-“

Koro Sensei broke out into Mach speed and escaped.

Nagisa muttered. “Bao buns… ah, Koro Sensei was in Shanghai today.”

“Gee, what is this?”

In the background, Okajima, who had footprints all over his body, looked at the compact camera monitor and frowned. When Terasaka, who was standing close, looked into it, the photograph was the figure of Koros Sensei with an armful of the bao buns in a paper bag, pulling a peace sign in the direction of the camera.

Tony finds out Nat and Bucky are his soulmates

Tony gets kidnapped a lot. As in so often, he introduced himself to his fellow university students with the infamous words, “My name is Tony, I like coffee and I get kidnapped a lot.”

[It’s apparently turned into a meme or maybe an inside joke. One people always laugh twice about, one when they here it for the first time and once when they see Tony get kidnapped for the first time.]

At first, everyone thought Tony just likes to make jokes about his father’s money, but after the sixth or seventh incident that put a couple of his fellow engineering students in the hospital -- and also, incidentally, led to the birth of DUM-E, the engineering departments pride and joy -- people have started to take him serious.

For example, everyone knows better than to drink Tony’s coffee. Not because he goes ballistic -- though there is that too -- but because you never know what today’s wannabe kidnapper’s drugged it with. You also never let Tony enter or leave a classroom first or last, that’s just asking for trouble. And no one, no one, is to trust a sudden stand-in professor or new TA.

The point is, when a guy in black leather drives his motorcycle over the roof, flies through the air, through two windows and skitters to a stop right in front of Tony and his friends, who are sitting outside in a rare, shady place -- coincidentally not in direct view of the most commonly used sniper positions -- reaches out with a hand made of metal to grab a squeaking Tony by his hoodie, pull him onto his motorcycle and drives off with him, Tony’s best friend Rhodey sighs a deep sigh of utter, mentally done with this world exhaustion and everyone moves on with their lives.

[”Shouldn’t we call the police?” the new English lit professor -- who is still eyed warily by the entire student population -- asks hesitantly.

Her TA snorts. Pauses when he sees her genuine confusion.

“Oh, right, you’re new here.”]

Tony, meanwhile, is quietly mourning the probably-not-drugged coffee he dropped when metal hand -- and how cool is that? -- grabbed him. And also humming in interest at the young woman, dressed in the exact same skin-tight leather suit kidnapper number 1 wears, eyes him dubiously.

“Are you sure you took the right one? He’s so-- fluffy.”

“You’re fluffy,” Tony snaps, mortally offended.

"I’m sorry for kidnapping you like that,” Metal hand says surprisingly earnestly and snatches the knife kidnapper number 2 throws with a snarled “I am not fluffy!” out of the air with an ease that speaks of lifelong practice. Tony’s definitely jealous.

“It’s fine.” Tony waves him off because he rarely gets an apology, and thus always appreciates it. “You’re like the sixteenth to do so since classes started again.”

“...right.” Metal arm eyes him for a long moment. Tony stares back. It’s as good a thing to do as anything. “My point is--”

"Are you wearing a protective sleeve or a prothesis?” Tony interrupts. He’s heard the whole We’re-sorry-for-the-inconvenience-but-we-need-money-and-you’re-an-easy-way-to-get-to-your-mother speech before. Loki has actually written a parody for a seminar once. It was so good, it got published in the student newspaper.

“You’re our soulmate,” the woman says.

Tony blinks.

“Nat!”

“What? You were taking too long.”

“I’m you’re what.” Tony says in a completely reasonable deadpan.

Metal hand shrugs sheepishly. “Machine gave the name out a few weeks ago. Gotta say, it took a while to track you down. We were worried HYDRA would get to you first. Or SHIELD.”

Tony stares. It takes half an hour to go through the details because these people are terrible at explaining anything, but what the entire thing comes down to is-- “You’re both freelance assassins at the top of the foodchain and when people got nervous and decided to get you under control, they used a machine that spat out my name and now an international terrorist organization and an international spy organization are after me.”

“You’re our soulmate. And you practically scream ‘easy target’. You’re fluffy.” Nat sniffs.

“There’s no such thing as soulmates,” Tony says, also quite reasonably and ignores the way Nat’s eyes narrow. He’s never heard of the concept of soulmates before, outside of romances and TV shows, that is. Except-- “Actually, that explains a lot.”

Nat smirks. Bucky -- and what kind of codename is Bucky -- looks suspicious. “What do you mean, ‘explains a lot’.”

“JARVIS keeps insisting the weekly kidnapping attempts have gone up in the last two weeks. I thought he was being paranoid, I really need to downgrade the suspicion protocol, or that maybe the it would average out in the next month, but apparently he was right and this is a new trend.”

“What.”

Piggyback rides on his morning run zoom so his legs are extra agile and strong

A relationship with Tenya Iida will not only be luxurious, but also a strong, comfortable one

At first, it will be really awkward for Tenya. He’s never dated anyone before and he doesn’t know what to do with himself when such a beautiful girl is sitting in the opposite booth

His family likes to invite you over for dinner once they find out you exist

They found out after he accidentally started talking about you at family dinner one night

His mom tells you how often he talks about you

Tensei tells you that Tenya asks him for relationship all the time

Tenya denies it every time

Tensei seemed like the best older brother in the entire world when you first met the guy (probably after he got paralyzed)

Wheelchair fun in the long, ominous hallways of the Iida residence with Tenya running after you spazzing robotting and yelling for you to “stop being so reckless!!”

At first he is very awkward with physical contact but you find out that he is a very cuddly person and he gives really good hugs

Shopping isn’t his thing, he sticks to a basic yet sexy polo with khakis

BUT, he has good taste and helps you decide what to buy

If someone dared to insult or harass you → scary, protective boyfriend mode ACTIVATE → the glasses are off and he holds you to close while he gives the opposing male a beat down, a lecture on respecting women, and a recipro burst to the face

He is overprotective, so be safe, follow the rules, and he’s going to check in with you even if you were together a few minutes ago

Tenya doesn’t mean to be overbearing when he asks if you can sync your calendars, he just wants to be prepared and on the same page

He is normally a very docile boy and prefers to keep fighting out of the relationship. He isn’t a big tease and he doesn’t like making you angry so your household is rather peaceful

You challenge him to races, but you always lose

You like to hide his glasses

He’ll scold you if you get bad grades

Tenya won’t hesitate to spoil you, even before he asks you out

He does his best to impress you, but he always feels like he’s being shown up by Midoriya

Study dates at coffee shops and fast-food restaurants where you eat and he studies

Some nights, you’ll get him drunk on orange juice and kisses and Tenya will confess his love to you all over again in various languages and levels of intellectualness

Tenya prefers to be the big spoon, but if he’s upset about something or he’s had a tiring day, he’ll collapse into bed in nothing but his boxers and rest his face in/on your warm breasts

Handle with care

He works so hard to please you, live up to his own expectations (and the Iida family name), plus the added strain of staying a top-ranking hero

With all the stress he puts on himself, Tenya will eventually collapse from exhaustion and guiltily take a day off from work

It’s your turn to scold sonic the hedgehog for overworking himself

When this finally happens, do everything for him

I mean EVERYTHING

Make him breakfast, cut it up, and feed him while he lays propped up against a pillow

Take a hot bath together to ease his muscles

Massage him until your arms seize up

Remind him that you’re so proud of him, you love him, how handsome he is, and what a great hero he is/he will be 50 times each

Tenya is a good boy

He is very caring and kind and would go any length to please you

His haircut is really cute

I want to kiss his sideburns

One day, a few weeks after moving into the dorms, the final bell rung and signaled the end of the school day. Tenya Iida is walking with his friends, Izuku Midoriya and Ochaco Uaraka. All of a sudden, he feels a tug on his sleeve.

Stopping to see who it was that needed assistance, he was pleasantly surprised to see you standing slightly behind him, finger and thumb still attached to the grey material of his blazer. Your lovely features were dusted with pink and your (e/c) irises were lit up by the orangey light of early sunset.

The brunette looked at her friend and winked. “Iida, we’ll meet you at the dorms, okay? See ya!” She grinned, grabbing Midoriya by his wrist and pulling him along toward the UA student housing. The navy-haired boy nodded, biting back a goofy smile that rose to his pale lips at the thought of you.

He stopped walking altogether and turned to look you in the eye. You looked especially cute today, your (h/c) hair drawn back in a messy bun, a little bit of makeup accentuating your pretty features, and your grey blazer tied loosely around your waist.

“Is there something wrong Y/N?” He asks gently, tilting his head.

Your face flushed a darker crimson at his innocently sweet concern for your wellbeing. “N-No, there’s nothing wrong, I just-”

“You’re all flushed! Have you had anything to drink today? You’re shivering as well… are you cold? As class rep, I must take care of my classmate!” Tenya announced, robotic arms that had been swatting at the air, swinging to a stop before scooping you up like a small child.

You squeaked and looked around, hoping no one was watching your little scene. Tenya gently placed you on a wooden bench and offered you a water bottle. Hoping to calm his worry, you took it with a soft “thank you, Iida” and sipped delicately at the cool beverage. When you tried to hand it back to him, you noticed something was wrong.

“Y/N, I apologize for picking you up like that. It was very rude and impulsive of me.” He stated calmly, looking deep into your eyes.

“No, Iida, it’s ok.” You reply, looking down at his huge hands, “If you don’t mind, can I ask you something?”

“Not… not at all.”

You exhaled deeply and prepared to tell him what you had been feeling for several months now. “Iida-” You say, laying your hand on top of his, “Iida, I… I’ve liked you, f-for a while now. Like more than a friend and like um… a potential boyfriend. I-It’s totally fine if you don’t feel the same way, I just really needed to tell you.”

It was his turn to blush. Here you were, saying what he had been too chicken to say since the minute he lay eyes on you.

When he didn’t answer, you started getting worried. Was he going to start laughing? Was he going to just ignore you? Why was his face all red, was he ok?

“I-” He began, but you cut him off as you stood, the warmth of your hand leaving the flustered boy.

“Iida, don’t force yourself for me. If you don’t feel the same that’s f-fine. I’m s-sorry for bothering you… I’m sure you have better-”

“No, no, wait Y/N-” He cut in, “I’ve… I’ve been meaning to say the same, unfortunately I was too slow. I like you as well, like you said like for a potential relationship. Really, you are one of the prettiest girls I’ve ever seen and I hope you accept my feelings and my invitation to take you out… on a date.”

You stared at him in disbelief, then that disbelief turned to contained joy. A huge smile caressed your face and you ran forward and crashed into his chest for a hug.

Surprised though he was, he happily wrapped his arms around you.

When you pulled away, you looked up at him and said, “Iida, I’d love that. I’m so happy you feel the same way.”

“Call me Tenya,” He responded, “Let’s go to the dorms. No one knows where we are. Plus, on the way, you can tell me where you’d like to eat.” Tenya offered you his hand.

You nod and take his hand, slinging your bag over your shoulder.

“That sounds nice. Let’s go, Tenya.”

Well, as of today, I’m caught up on One Piece. (The manga, not the anime). I took a few weeks off around chapter 900 to do other things, but I got through chapter 1008 this morning. I’d read about the first 80-ish chapters years ago but had to re-read some of them to refresh my memory (I remembered Zolo but not Sanji, say)-- I didn’t re-read 44 of the 10008 chapters. But so by my math, that’s roughly 17,352 pages of comics there (assuming 18 pages per chapter). I read about 216 chapters of Dragonball before that-- that’s another 3,888 pages-- and 97 chapters of Chainsaw Man-- that’s 1,746 pages. And 5 chapters of I Tell C, just a random brand new Jump series about wacky people solving crimes-- I thought it’d be interesting to see what a random middle-of-the-road so-so new shonen manga was like to follow on a weekly basis (not into reading weekly; prefer to binge)-- but add in 90 pages there. So, somewhere around-ish 23,076 pages of comics in 2021, so far. Paid for legitimately thanks to this shonen jump app at an expense of, what, $2 a month so $6-$8 total.

My head’s pretty fuzzy from the experience to make any kinda grand “critical pronouncements” about it. Right now, I think the series is in a real awkward place where I feel like it’s escalated so much that a lot of the stuff I like is getting buried under a ton of other stuff, all of which is also very nice, but. One Piece is in the middle of this arc called Wano that’s more than 100-chapters. Like, I admire and think it’s daring that he can walk away from a character as cool as Zolo for 80-100 chapters (years! that must’ve been years for the readers!), but when Zolo comes back I want to see him be as cool as possible. And he has been! But like, he’s been competing for oxygen with 10,000 new characters! I'm invested in Luffy’s crew and a lot of Wano-- they’re there, and they’re mostly being cool (Usopp hasn’t had a big moment in a WHILE) but they’re surrounded by other stuff.

But that being said, when he has to land a big moment, like, it just seems effortless. When Luffy’s screaming “this is hell? I love being in hell-- let me show you how I can throw fists better than ever” or there’s a splash page of Robin saying like “I don’t like you and you all have to die now” or whatever, all the Zolo power-chord moments where he’s chopping cities in half with his sword or whatever the hell... the big arena rock bits still land. But they’re fighting like 1000 guys in this Wano arc all of whom are incredibly distinct, I’m never getting lost, but...

It’s too much of a good thing. Before Wano, I was like “how can he be near the end, there’s too much going on in this world” and now near the end of Wano (maybe?), it feels like he HAS to end this in just one more arc (Wano’s not even the big one-- Wano’s not even the fight for the One Piece!), maybe two (if there’s a “what happens to the characters/world after the big quest is fulfilled” arc, who knows) because ... how is this sustainable??? With the obvious caveat: if you asked me how I felt after Dressrosa, I’d have been like “how is he going to go bigger than that???” And if you asked me after Marineford, I’d have been like “how is he going to go bigger than that???” And he just keeps doing it. So. I don’t know! Beats me!!!!

The pleasure of One Piece is just its competency though. It’s just very, very good at being what I imagine anyone would want a shonen manga to be. It feels so much like someone who grew up with a formula then taking that formula to its limits, without any interest in mocking or defying those limits. It’s just competent, which doesn’t sound like high praise, but imagine you spent 20-30 years reading comics that didn’t rise to the level of competency very often, that flagrantly failed at that level, and maybe my astonishment at that would be more understandable, I dunno...

Anyways, my plan is to let some One Piece accumulate (I don’t think he’s close to finishing the Wano arc... I think he’s got at least 20-60 chapters of fights left there), and to read all of either Promised Neverland or Demon Slayer, next-- it seems like a new generation of talent’s sort of risen up in these last few years, people who defy the classic formulas more and are doing more contained works, and I want to find out about all that. And then I guess circle to the other big hits I never got to (Assassination Classroom, Bleach, Haikyu, maybe finish Death Note, I hear SpyxFamily is nice). After that, I can start tracking down stuff off the app that I’ve always mean to get around to (I’ve read Junji Ito but not enough/everything; Drifting Classroom, the more adult stuff Viz sells but not on their app-- all the Inio Asano I’ve missed, etc.) and/or track down whatever Kodansha’s comparable deal is. (Maybe someday Naoki Urasawa will even go digital...). So. So, yeah: that’s the plan...

Anyways, how are things going with American comics? I hear the new scam is more irritating and destructive than all the old scams? Cool, cool, good luck with that. (Not going backwards anytime soon...).

Got tagged by @doedipus into this fill out game! 1. Do you like answering tags?

I actually do like it! ...I just forget them in my drafts 9 times on 10. And when I actually do them, I end up thinking out too much about them and feel somewhat self-conscious about writing much more than others I see around?

2. Do you prefer to write fanfiction, read fanfiction, create fanart, make video edits, or none of the above?

It feels like cheating to have ‘read fanfiction’ when it’s the only one that doesn’t need to actively create something, haha. I consume somewhat less fanfiction nowadays compared to original content, but whenever I get into a new thing I tend to go on an huge reading spree. I’m definitely more at ease with writing out of the remaining three, though. Does it still counts if I collect WIPs I never go back to? I feel like it should count.

3. Nails painted (include what color) or not?

Eh, it’s pretty but not for me. I get easily distracted whenever I notice my nails are too long/cut weirdly/have those little bits protruding, so I feel like having the paint coming off would bother me too much. Some years ago I would have said ‘hot’, but the more time flies and the more I feel like I handle cold better? ...I’m still somewhat self-conscious about my weight, and the corona weight-taking didn’t help, so having lot of layers and huge sweaters feel comforting. Being able to have multiple blankets also make sleeping easier.

5. Favorite flavor of chapstick or do you not wear any? I don’t wear any, because I'm too forgetful and the few sticks I bought quickly disappeared into the same void portal that likes to eat my wandering hair ties.

6. Enemies to lovers or friends to lovers?

Oh, totally friends to lovers. The way I tend to imagine love is pretty platonic in the first place.

7. Favorite crack ship (any fandom)?

I... tend to go towards rarepairs rather than crack ships. But. If I ever go back to writing for assassination classroom, I really need to show everyone why Hiromi/Azusa works. Look, I’m just a weak lesbian and there are only four adult women with more than one line in this manga, and one of them is already dead by the time the story starts. What am I supposed to do.

8. Favorite type of weather?

Gentle rain without wind. It’s a weather that makes it easy to go on walks, as people usually aren’t out in the rain, but it’s easy enough to not get wet with just an umbrella.

9. Do you use :), :], or :D?

Only for a few, sometimes in the tags. Discord keep modifying :) and the like to emoticons, so I tend to write (: instead, but I’m more partial to :3 and (8 anyways.

Daminette AU idea

Trigger warning for torture and sexual harassment and possible rape.

Marinette received her Miraculous when she was 12, met Adrien and Alya in grade 8 (French Equivalent).

It was Marinette's 13th birthday where Befana gets Akumatized and Marinette has since been much more careful about how she reacts to situations. So there's no Riposte or Reverser and Dark Owl is completely Alya and Chat, Frightingale is because of Chloe and so on.

Paris is getting really bad. People are becoming completely indifferent to consequences because The Cure always fixes everything. People are becoming worse to each other, are allowing themselves to become Akumatized for pretty much everything, because they're never held accountable. To the teens in Marinette's school it's even become a badge of honour. They use their akumatizations for pet names and couple names and bragging about how close they got to their end goal.

When Lila does come back, and she turns the class, she fuels the akuma craze, encouraging others to bully Marinette because she never got Akumatized and whispering that she obviously works with Hawkmoth. She turns around and praises Adrien, feeding his ego into thinking he's right in everything because he also never got Akumatized.

Marinette stops ever pulling Hero's from her class, and Chat then starts to refuse to show up for fights because she still won't date him and Marinette can only rely on Vipereon and Ryouko (who both show up way earlier because she can't rely on Alya and Nino, and because she never made a bad impression on Kagami), and so she fights alone for the most part.

So for a full year she's alone both as a hero and at home. She's been training hard with Master Fu, because even the Miraculous magic won't keep him alive much longer, and so Marinette has more stress on her shoulders. On top of that her commissions are taking off with Clara Nightingale and Jagged Stone but she's starting to resent fashion.

Things come to a head the week before her 14th birthday. She's been tracking how fast the magic butterflies can fly, taking note of time the victim became Akumatized and then triangulating the base for Hawkmoth. She's talking to Fu about what to do, since her first guess was right, and the butterflies come from Agreste. Fu is about to tell her that Adrien is Chat when she gets a surprise call from Alya. She takes it and finds out her 'friends' all want to throw her a party. She's excited and takes off immediately to where they are. Meanwhile, Lila made a big lie about Marinette hurting her and told the class the only way to cheer her up is to hurt Marinette and make it stick.

So When Marinette gets close to where they said they would meet her, the whole class ambushed her. They hurt her really bad, maybe carving the word b**** into her arm or burning her or branding her or something. Max films the whole thing to show Lila and make her happy and maybe get a date. Marinette is left in the dirt, hurt and alone and broken.

Meanwhile also, Lila has been telling Adrien thay Marinette is in love with him, and that she would be in that area, and that she's waiting for him to make a move and that even if she says no, she loves him and will want him. So he goes there, unaware she's just been tortured and when he finds her he just goes for the deep end (no idea how far it gets)

He does take her back to the bakery as Chat when he's done at least. The next day Marinette drags herself to Master Fu's place and he does his best to administer first aid and get the bleeding to stop. She stays there until late into the night, when she uses Klakki to break into the Agreste mansion and take back Plagg and the Miraculous book. But when she finds the book she also finds Nooroo and Dusuu in the safe. So she takes them and calls the police, making sure that Officer Raincomprix gets arrested to for obstruction of justice. Lila and the Mayor quickly get arrested too. She also has the tape from Max and they all get looked into. Marinette goes to Fu and he reveals he's dying, and gives her the box and what money he has at that moment and tells her to get far away and hide and check back with him in three days.

So Marinette goes to Gotham, because no one will look twice at an Orphan in Gotham, and she has the Kwamis help her with her paperwork, and she moves into a tiny bachelor suite in the "bad" part of Gotham, gets a couple of jobs at a Café (where she sells her family's macaroons) and at a grocery store. She goes to Gotham Academy, but is homeschooling and only goes in for labs and exams.

Three days later she goes back as Ladybug to check on Master Fu and her family. She finds out Lila has been deported and Adrien has been calling for Marinette to "prove his innocence" because he had no idea his father was Hawkmoth. But Gabriel named Lila as his helper and she named Adrien as helping her. The class is all facing juvy and in Alya's case, she's facing adult prison time. Bustier and Domoclese are both arrested for taking bribes, allowing bullying to get so out of hand, for allowing a student to carry the weight of everyone's sins when she herself did nothing. Her parents are also facing prison for willful negligence, they never even called her in missing, they just moved into her room and ignored the fact she was missing.

She goes to Master Fu, and he's dying and he tells her to use Noroo or Trixx to make his body look like Marinette's and bring it to the cops as the final nail. She stays by his side until he passes and she does as he asks and uses Trixx to make sure all the injuries are there that she has and finally takes the body to the police. They rule it as a first degree murder by her classmates. When Adrien finds out that Marinette is dead he snaps and blames Ladybug for not healing her, and he starts seeing Marinette's "ghost" and it tells her that she wants to be with him and that she wishes he hadn't lost his Miraculous and all he has to do is track down Ladybug and wish her back. He realizes then that he's always loved Marinette, not Ladybug, and this is all Ladybug's fault because Ladybug is jealous Adrien moved on.

Marinette leaves Paris, never wanting to go back. She starts going to school and working and then her home gets broken into. The Miraculous are all okay, because Trixx hid them under an illusion, but Marinette decides she needs a guard dog. The dog she gets is retired police dog Captain. Things proceed with her working and going home and studying. She no longer wants to work in fashion because the Agreste family ruined it for her. She's healing slowly and she can afford health care so she has a lot of scars from what they did to her. Then one day she's walking home late from the grocery store, she's wearing a slash resistant leather jacket, one of her last designs. She gets seen by Robin, who decides there's something special about her and walks her back to her home, only finding out her name is Marinette Fu and she's an orphan.

The next day she has an exam at Gotham Academy, and of course, it's the same Day the Joker decides that he'd like to use the rich children to cause some chaos. So when the alarms start blaring, Damien tries to escape to change but gets caught by some back up goons. He's right in the way of Marinette's escape route and he gets injured for his cheek. She also immediately recognizes him as being Robin (the height, the build, the voice, the eyes). So she steps in, quickly takes out the two goons and gives Damien first aid. And when the Joker comes to I vestigate why no one is answering him she leads Joker away from Damien and right into Nightwing. She grabs the first paramedic she sees and takes her to Damien, and then quickly leaves the school.

Damien, who is recovering for a week at home, digs more into Marinette but can't find anything past two weeks ago. So when he's fit enough to go out as Robin he goes to her place because she might be an assassin or something. But when he gets there he hears her singing a sad song and he doesn't notice she turns and sees him until she opens the window and asks him why he's there. He admits he looked her up and wanted to know who she really was. She admits her parents are alive in Paris but not able to take care of her, and the man she named herself after died recently and he was her only friend. She says she's just here to start over because she hates Paris and France and Gotham is as far removed from anything Paris stood for that she feels safe here despite the danger. He accepts that for now but asks for a list of songs she likes, since he's never listened to or like music until that night.

And so a weird friendship is born. Marinette sticks papers on the outside of her window with song lists and he leaves a reply of which songs he liked from the last list. This goes on for a while when Marinette has a science lab she needs to go to school for and she runs into Damien, who says thank you for saving him and she asks him why he didn't just add it into the notes on her window. And he realizes "she knows" and is internally freaking out but she just walks around him to the science classrooms. He catches her after (he may have skipped class) and asks her to lunch. She's really jaded at this point but she agrees as long as she picks and she takes him to the café she works at, where Captain is that day. He asks her how she knew and seriously,she could not tell anyone and who she is. She gives him her old name before she starts her shift for the afternoon and sends him off with her batfam macaroons.

And their friendship continues like that. He starts asking questions on his notes to her and she asks him some in return. He realizes while this is going on that she has no idea he's Damian Wayne and he falls in love, slowly but surely. He never does look up Dupain-Cheng because it puts them on even footing and he likes it like that. He also starts changing at home, calling his brothers Richard, Jason and Timothy, and he's less violent in fights or when sparring. He plans better and becomes more creative in his fights, injuring less and focuses more on civilians (because dammit, Marinette could be among them and how dare anyone hurt Marinette more, because he's not an idiot, he knows she's been hurt, even though they've never talked about it).

Finally Tim can't take it anymore and asks Damien a month after he became friends with Marinette why he's so different. And Damien knows Marinette hates liars and he's trying to be the best version of himself so tells them he met a girl and that he's been listening to music (and secretly writing a song) and he wants to be better because he's realizing they're not just gonna kick him out and back to his mother and he's not the only one with a sh** childhood and there are ways he can be himself without being violent. And he wants to prove he'll be a good hero. The men are so awed. And then he tells them she figured out he's Robin in like two seconds but has no idea he's a Wayne and they ask for her background info. He gives them her old name, but is reluctant to see but they want to meet her and need make sure she's not bad news. So they find the video of her torture and Ladybug carrying her dead body and they find out about Hawkmoth and everything. The next night Damien knocks on her window and invites her for dinner.

It is again time for the annual compilation!

Manga:

Attack on Titan

I'm so sad this is so close to end... It's been my main thing for a few years now. Eren definitely didn't take the route I expected but I still find this consistent with his character and a bold and interesting move from the author.

(My notes say I also finished the jr high spin-off manga but it's not worth talking about)

Awards given: Best Side Girl (I still like Gabi, haters gonna hate), Best Boy (ditto Eren)

One Piece, My Hero Academia My interest in OP is still at an all-time low and I'm just waiting for the arc to end. There are so many characters and I have little idea what their deal is, Carrot hasn't been interesting in ages and currently Yamato is the only character I care for. Same for HeroAca; at least the excruciatingly long action scene is finally over.

Undead Unluck New Jump series! I think the main duo have a really good dynamic, but they're pretty much the only thing I care about and I'm very lost with what the plot is actually supposed to be about.

Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro

I like detective stories so here's one from the Assassination Classroom creator! The detective stuff itself could get rather nonsensical and as the story progressed more and more fantasy elements were added, but the titular character was entertaining enough to keep me interested. The viewpoint character was refreshingly (for a Jump series) a girl and her dynamic with Neuro (an ordinary schoolgirl and an arrogant amoral troll demon) was great.

Awards given: Best non-romantic relationship (Neuro & Yako)

Spy x Family

Super fun and the characters are cute! The main couple has such great chemistry and in general I enjoy following characters who are really competent at their job. Not surprised that this has become hugely popular.

Awards given: Best romance (it is rare to get me to ship anything but the main couple here is just so cute)

Delicious in Dungeon

This manga has amazing character design and the author clearly loves to play around with it, like by drawing each character as each other's races, or making clones of everyone but each clone is a little different so you can guess which is the real one with the characters, and there's so much thought put to the outfits too. And then there's of course all the worldbuilding around how an RPG dungeon and the creatures in it could work, but it's presented simply enough that the story is still easy to follow. I also like the upbeat atmosphere; maybe I could get a bit more emotionally involved if there was more drama, but I still really like this as it is.

Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou

Reread one of my favourite manga ever and it's still just as good. I love how the manga still has a positive vibe to it, under it there is the quiet melancholy of a world that is close to ending. And it's wonderful how uninterested the story is answering any of the worldbuilding questions it sets up.

Beastars

This was incredibly interesting in how it presented an animal society where the carnivore-herbivore differences couldn't be just explained away with "the differences don't really exist", and the story looks at this from so many different angles. Pairs really well with Zootopia for a completely different approach. Louis was a really interesting character with how he publicly managed to appear as if he was a good candidate to be the next ambassador for the peace between the animals but was actually very cold and broken inside, and I really liked his breakdown moment. The ending was pretty meh though.

Kannagi

This one has really cute character designs but apart from that it's a pretty generic harem story. Except for the twist that the main girl already had been involved with a boy which caused otaku to shred their manga or whatever. I believe I would have enjoyed this more if it finished back when it went to hiatus since at this point it didn't do much for me.

Witch Hat Atelier

The main girl is the kind of heroic, friendly, plucky goody-two-shoes protagonist I really don't like but apart from that this is a great manga. I love the art, and the way the magic works is really well set up but also easy to understand. Great outfits too!

Anime:

This year I learned that in order to clear stuff from your anime watch list you need to actually watch anime. So unexpectedly I think I watched a lot more different series than usual.

Attack on Titan

It was my plan to watch seasons 1-3 before jumping on board with the last one, and of course I dragged my feet for the entire year and had to marathon the whole thing in autumn. I still prefer the manga, but the anime does have great colours, soundtrack and voice acting and some of the action scenes were amazing. But I really hate what they did to Historia in season 3... The final season has been excellent so far and I can't wait for the big scene in the next episode.

Ouran High School Host Club

Haruhi continues to be one of the best girls in the anime and manga industry ever with her confident and no-nonsense attitude, and Tamaki's oblivious and overflowing friendliness makes for a great counterpart to her. And the opening theme is so darn catchy.

Awards given: Best Girl (Haruhi)

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann Finally managed to watch this. I love the iconic character designs and all the chaotic energy. Kamina for best bro. I've never cared for mecha, the girls were nice but the writing around them sucked and the second half wasn't as strong as the first one, but still a good package overall.

Awards given: Best ED (don't care for the song that much but Simon looks somehow really cool in the second ending)

Haibane Renmei

Another one that had been on the watch list for years. A lovely quiet and contemplative show. Visuals were rather dull though but maybe it's better for a show like this that the characters didn't have bubblegum pink hair.

Digimon Adventure 2020

This started promising but has since lost steam. I really like how different the story is from the original Digimon Adventure, and compared to Precure it's super nice how not every episode has the exact same structure, and the cast has different roles and regularly gets split up instead of shoehorning everyone into every conflict. But on the other hand the characters feel way more samey and flat, and the original "kids want to return to their home from the Digital World" plot was a lot more personal than the current one about global crises and prophecy jargon. And some of the action scenes last way too long.

Awards given: Worst side boy (Agumon and his evolutions, it is of course expected that he'd get a lot of screen time but I'm so over how much he's constantly pushed in your face in the franchise)

Shuumatsu Nani Shitemasu ka? Isogashii Desu ka? Sukutte Moratte Ii Desu ka?

This wasn't afwul but still left me kind of cold. I think the character designs were a problem here, in general I'm used to brightly coloured anime characters but this was trying to be a very serious story about child soldiers who know they're going to die young. But when they were colour-coded and always wore the same clothes (and mostly had pretty generic animu girl personalities) they felt so artificial which made it harder to get into the drama. Nice OP song.

Yashahime

Inuyasha was my first show after really getting into anime so I was super hyped for any kind of new content. So far this has unfortunately been rather dull since I'm not particularly interested in either of Sesshoumaru's daughters, and the way the show treats the absence of the old cast is annoying. Just either show them or make it clear we're not supposed to care about them, now it's just annoying how their disappearance is treated as a mystery but the three heroines know barely anything about their heritage and don't even seem interested in learning either. But I'll watch this to the end for Moroha.

Kaitou Tenshi Twin Angels, Twin Angel Break, Pretear, Happy Seven, Healin' Good Precure

Watched a lot of magical girl stuff this year too, these being shows that play the tropes straight. The Twin Angel seasons had different flaws but were otherwise watchable aside from the awful Twin Angel Break heroine. Pretear had surprisingly nice character writing and I feel I would really have liked this if I saw it at an earlier part of my anime hobby experience but now it doesn't feel so special any more. Healin' Good Precure has been rather dull.

I also watched a bunch of Precure movies, out of which only the Star Twinkle Precure one was actually good, and the Spring Carnival crossover movie was also good in an absurd way, while the rest ranged from awful to somewhat decent.

Awards given: Worst girl (Meguru - Twin Angel Break), Biggest WTF (Happy Seven suddenly going from monster of the week shenaningans to alien mass destruction weapons)

Concrete Revolutio, Myriad Colors Phantom World, Re:Creators

Also some anime where the magical girl was a side character. Concrete Revolutio was an unpleasant mess with nice visuals, Myriad Colors was a pretty boring otaku high school harem thing and the magical girl episode was also rather bland, and Re:Creators had a lot of potential with the "anime characters come to our world" setting but the result was somewhat uneven. Re:Creators had the best magical girl out of these three.

Awards given: Worst non-romantic relationship, Worst side girl (Setsuna from Re:creators, with the main boy) not really an awful character on her own, but the writing around her was pretty bad, let's also give Worst Boy for the said main boy

Nausicaa

I watched the first half of the movie over a decade ago and didn't manage to finish until now. After seeing so many other Ghibli movies this didn't do much for me, but the animation and nature were still beautiful.

Western:

Most Popular Girls in School

The newer seasons didn't reach the heights of the earlier ones but there's still something entertaining about a very raunchy Barbie doll stop motion show. Also pairs well with the Barbie Life in the Dreamhouse for a fun but more child friendly Barbie experience.

Frozen 2

I'm wondering if these really are the only Western piece of media I consumed this year? I certainly didn't go to movies after March. Anyway, like the previous film I had major problems with the plot and characters (I don't think Elsa's story was set up properly, Kristoff's sub-plot feels like an afterthought when he doesn't factor to Anna's sub-plot at all, Olaf is annoying, too much Lore) but ultimately I still had a good time. I like the costume design, the idea for Elsa's arc is fine, the songs are great and there were plenty of good scenes too, and the lullaby was beautiful. I'd say that like the original Frozen this was patched together from perfectly serviceable pieces that didn't quite work combined.

Early this year I just decided not to open this app for the daily money-grubbing grind and haven't touched it since. I'm free!

Animal Crossing New Horizons

However the daily grind continues here! It's been way more enjoyable, primarily due to lacking the microtransactions/limited time item angle and also for being so much more customisable. And the nature is so pretty... But I've reached a point where even this has started to feel kind of stale.

Super Mario Odyssey

My first Mario game since Super Mario World so of course I'm blown away by everything. I like how colourful and welcoming the worlds were, Cappy was a surprisingly enjoyable sidekick/mascot and also the game was easy enough and had a simple linear plot so it was far easier to approach than Zelda BotW which is still on hold.

Welcome to 2021

Ver. 2.1 - Ok. February but still, here we are. “Behold it’s me” as Logic would say. [...] I’m sorry I’m a bit shook because I started to write at 10:01AM, and it’s precisely 12:07AM, I was progressing pretty well in the process of writting and then I made a bad move and lost everything I wrote. I’m kinda mad. Really, I was this 👌 close to give up on writting it, and you can notice that the pixels are touching. But I guess the “I said I’d do it, so I’m going to do it” mentality is taking me places, once again. Even if I have to start again (that's called mental strength, take notes). And I said I’d write it baked so here I am, baked and hella motivated to do it. So, W shouldn’t help me reminding me what I wrote in the first version but nevermind. So I guess I'll put the most things I remember. I can tell there were good ideas ! I'll take this occasion to remind everyone the concept of these posts but first we will recap numbers of this year (well, more or less accurate for 2020 as I'm writting one month late) (and I'll fucking stop writting on the tumblr site and switch to OpenOffice so my next words are not lost again). 637 Nakamas (thank y'all for being here, even if I post 12847 times in a row. The choice of this picture was so simple. Or maybe I should have chosen the one with the mustache only I took during lockdown ? Ahah. But … this picture could almost resume the year on its own. If I'd describe it in depth and explain the context, I could review 70% of the events that happened this year (and I think I'll go for that later, interesting exercise).

So. First let me explain the goal of these sums up. Each « Welcome to XXXX » is a resume, a sum up of the year XXXX-1. I write these for me, it's a funny way to keep track of all these years. I try to describe more or less precisely what happened during the year. I allow myself to be more or less precise because I firstly write these for me. And sometimes these posts tend to be long. Especially this one. It's gonna be sooo long. Like, idk maybe highlight this line and take a few seconds to scroll down and see how looooong it is. Kinda discouraging isn't it ? Lucky you it won't go on forever though as today, as I'm writting that it's 12:23PM and I'll have to be gone at 4 or 5PM. But I think contraints make art, even if I don't like to write under any kind of pressure. But I'm determined to do it in one take. So in these posts I also write about the TV Shows, manga, anime, movies I've seen/read. Even books, as I finally had the chance to read « Le Petit Prince » this year. We all know we had time this year, don't we ? And at the end, I post a 12 songs playlist (+ songs that I discovered this year that also are going to remind me of the year). We can roughly say it's « 1 song/1 month » but it's not always true. These songs are songs I like a lot, like really (but not necessarily my favorite) but above all, they remind me of the year I'm resuming (it can also be older songs). I also post my top 3 albums of the year. I'm thinking also of detailing my choices of playlist. Maybe not explaining all of them but a few. [12:36PM. And I'm already hungry.] On the 1st try I remember I talked about the TV shows I saw. I forgot to mention it but I write in English for a few reasons. First is : it helps me exercising my English. For me, it's the most beautiful langage to talk and it's a good occasion to do so. And then I actually enjoy writting in English. And it prevents unwanted people who don't master English to read all that (as it is pretty intimate). But joke's on me, I'm conscious the people I'd like to keep away from reading this all master English, and even better than me for some of them. (It surely is the case for 27 at least, even though we all know she still won't read this lol). Yes, I never drop names in these sum ups. Or at least, some names are blacklisted. I always chose a number to nominate them they would normally recognize themselves. So, talking about English, I've seen « Emily in Paris » on Netflix. It may surprize you but I'm very interested in dubbing. French dubbing is amazing. For example I bought « Spiderman » on PS4 this year and the french voice is the same voice actor as in the « Amazing Spider-Man » (yes the one with Andrew Garfield). (UNPOPULAR OPINION : Andrew Garfield actually is the best spiderman. Or at least the one I prefer and by far). Emily in Paris is funny because I watched it in English and it kinda disturbed me that it took place in Paris but everybody spoke English. On the other hand, if you watch it in French, langages people are talking become logical (French people speak french) but you'll have to deal with the DEADLY ANNOYING French voice of Emily. It was so fun to see these streets I've been visiting for so long in a Netflix show. By the way, I think it's easy to say that I'm missing Paris so much. But not only for the tourism, but most and foremost for the competitions. Before being a tourist I was a competitor there. So, I'm missing Paris but I'm also missing karate competitions. And also just karate. I haven't stepped on a tatami for 3 weeks and it still seems like it won't get better, and we all know why. I'm curious if I could talk about this year without mentioning a very famous virus but I think it's just impossible. But this virus gave me a lot of time in March and April. Maybe less in November tho. I could finally finish The Walking Dead, which last seasons were surprisingly good. And it was so fun to watch the reactions of people on Youtube [#]. Talking about karate competitions, I also watched Cobra Kai ! What an amazing job they did there. Adding more depth to the first movie, it's funny to change perspective and see that the Daniel we were rooting for wasn't that much of a « perfect good guy » we saw (I'm not talking about the kick in the face etc). It's also funny to notice I kinda went fro Daniel to Johnny lol. But having a Netflix show talking about martial arts and value they teach to their students ? It was perfect, even more when you see that some of my students also saw it so when we were training I was refering to it they almost all got it. And it's also funny to see that it's not as Manichean as the 1st movie was. It's a 9/10 for me. If I read the last sum up right, I said : « This year 2020 I really need to watch Kimetsu no yaiba, Jojo, Violet evergarden, Gintama and i have to keep ready 7 deadly sins. » So : Kimetsu no Yaiba was dope. The anime was beautiful and the manga was very entertaining. Not a top tier manga but definitively a good one. Jojo's anime was cool but too long. I stopped after season 2 or 3 I guess ? Violet Evergarden was TRASH (and very bad for a date, if you ask me) and I didn't take time to explore the 2 others. I also saw : Assassination classroom (5/10, i couldn't finish it so i skipped directly to the last episode, was as moving as people said), Validé (8/10, with an insane final episode), No Game No Life (8,5/10, i loved it), Freaks and Geeks (7,5 but i didn't finish it, I really like the old school vibe), Code geass (7/10, great anime and great opening). I finally discovered Community and it was worth it. What a funny show. And what a pleasure to see Mr Donald Glover on screen. Makes me think that I need to watch Atlanta again. The problem with Community is the last seasons broke the 4th wall too much for me, it became painful to watch. But the 3 or 4 seasons are crazy. Another show that was even more funny : IT Crowd. I finally had the chance to see the episode of « I came here to drink milk and kick ass, and I just finished my milk ». This show is a 9,25/10. Grand Army was also a great show of 2020. Dom is an amazing character (but I already said it). Kengan Ashura was also so cool ! I think it's what Baki would have liked to become. This year I also started to watch « American horror Story » again (alone and not alone). These last seasons were awesome. I also converted Elodi to «my hero academia », it was so cool to share that. Other things I saw : SAO S4 (AMAZING, SO BEAUTIFUL), Erased, SNK Last season) ; The Mandalorian, 24's 9th season.« Queen's gambit » have been one of the greatest show I've seen this year. And I really want to say that I played chess before the show came out (add me on Lichess if you want to play with me. Same username. I'm not strong -about 1000 ELO I guess- but I'm always happy to play and learn). If you want a precise idea of my level, on the chess.com app, I can beat Emir 🇹🇷 (1000 ELO) often but I didn't win once against Sven 🇸🇰 (who is ~1100 ELO). I'm so happy talking about all these lengthen the post even more. Kinda satisfying. But I could also talk about Tekken and chess this year. I think I have a thing with dueling sports. I'm a Karate competitor, I love Tekken and I like chess. I guess someone has something to prove haha. But come on, chess is incredible. For the 1st lockdown, I was just playing (not alone) but I wanted to make progress just by practicing. And that's how I got BB 5 or 7 (yes, it means Beat By = my number of loss in a row). But at the end of the 2nd lockdown I finally allowed myself to study a little more, thanks to Youtube (once again). This is SO INTERESTING. Like the strategies, the top players. French content creators are fun but I like american ones more. Eric Rosen is my favourite. He's always calm, he often finds solutions. GothamChess is also very entertaining. You can say by how he talks he has been a teacher. He's great. So, once again on some shonen shit, I started studying more. Mid December, a kid beat me 2 times in a row. He's a smart kid, I like him. He didn't brag or anything. And then, during Christmas Holidays I spent 2 or 3 hours a day watching chess videos. I guess he hasn't been able to beat me since then haha. By the way I should play with him later on today. Playing chess is a way for me to make sure my brain doesn't let me down, like gym for the brain. At least, it's what I thought when I started but I quickly discovered that it's a game of patterns recognizing, so memory is really challenged here. I mean, in the middlegame you have to be smart to get by but at the beginning and ending … you have to know your openings. I have also thought of joining a club but I don't know if chess communities are benevolent. I also noticed that high ranked players seem to have strong personalities. And then for Tekken (yes, 3 years and a half later I'm still on this game) I'm still making progress. In March, someone made me want to play Heihachi. What a funny character. Not top tier, but fun. Leroy Smith is also fun to play. There was no offline tournament but I won one, the 1st organized by Tekken Toulouse and finished 5th at the second. It's funny to live that level of stress straight from my bed. Usually, that kind of stress making my whole body trembling is usually found nearby tatamis of Karate competitons. (Yes, these Tekken tournaments make me stressful and that's the reason I can't play Jin in tournaments). But Eddy is still a sure value. Still progressing in movement, and whiff punishing. Mishimas are getting more consistent on electrics but it's not perfect. By the way, if you love fighting games and Bruce Lee, there's a video you need to see (whoever you are) : [#]. I have eaten, but now I have the feeling that I'm late.] Btw I don't skip line to add some « length » effect. Once again I'm sorry if making it until here was painful to read, but I need to make this paragraph the least attractive I can. This line I'm writting is almost on the 3rd page of OpenOffice. And I try to avoid using emojis, so there's just text. Tout dans le fond, pas de forme. Also, congratulations for making it until here, you must be very motivated. I'm writting slowly because it's the 1st time I write this by daytime, and I swear at the begining people were harassing me ahah. It's fun because the sum up of 2019 was so short. Just with its form, you can tell how 2019 have been peaceful. I don't remember if I talked about it already but a disaster could have happened in September/October 2019. But karate kept my mind busy so the worst have been avoided. Time spent on the tatamis kept me away from overthinking about my problems. And that was a good strategy indeed. Because in 2020 it wasn't the same. If we count right. Dojos were opened in January, February, 1st half of march, reopened in September and october, closed on november and opened in December (Mon Dieu quel … CASSE-TEX hahaha merci c'est tout pour moi). It was a weird karate year. Today is the 1 year anniversary of my last competition. During the 1st lockdown, I had litteraly no desire to train. Some of you know why. But let's talk a bit more about COVID and lockdowns. The most important thing is that I didn't spent the 1st lonely. This was the most challenging time of my life, but I can say that I made it thanks to 0808 so I'm eternally grateful for that. So, if we recap months by months : January was a funny month. One thing that I thought a miracle happened (until I found out months later what a real miracle was). I also almost went into a brawl. I guess this weird ass month set the tone for the 11 months to follow. February … was one of the calmest month. I had an awesome dojo session in Balma with 0808 in February. I think there were a lot of beautiful sunsets this month. Guess our weather power was at its peak. These 3 1st months of 2020 had a lot of trainings, even if I was injured due to kumite. March and April are kinda the same for me. I won't talking long about these but I'd simply say that I'm glad that I hadn't to write to 27. So, the Miracle happened by mid April. Mid april to mid may, it was cool. We were at home but … the weather was nice, I was doing sport everyday (but no real karate trainings) and I could keep this rythm of exercising until … Half July, which is good. It's the first time in my life I'm that consistent in doing sports at home. From mid may, I started to train with Coach O. on a weekly basis. It was incredible. These days were still bliss in my mind. I was there, no « real problems » in mind, I wasn't alone, I was making progress physically … It was really great. And from mi may to end of July, it kept getting better.Indeed, I fell in love again in January and it was getting stronger by the months. It's been a while I haven't fell this hard for someone. But she gave it back to me nicely. And then … Mala suerte 3.0. This point of the sum up is funny because I do remember when I talked about mala suerte in the other sum ups. I do realize how it's always the same thing when I write those : « 1st part of the year is cool, then not cool, then cool again but in a weird way because I have insane difficulties to repair broken parts of me » but hey. This time it's not my fault. It makes me realize how cyclic all this is. So, August, September and October have been terrible and chaotic months. A level of sadness rarely reached until there. Maybe comparable to September 2018. A high level of anger also. But still, with rare occasions to train, so no occasions to let go off steam. In fact, let's talk a bit about this anger. I've always took a lot of pride in the fact that I could most of the time remain calm in a lot of situations. Plus, being patient isn't something natural but … I learned to be through the years. I was so surprised to notice how angry I became … It simply wasn't me. But the reason is simple : I really think karate brings me balance in life, on a lot of levels (and it concerns me a lot for when I'll stop competing one day …). But I realized it so I'm working on it. In 2020, I led a lot of fights, sometimes I won and often I lost, but I also avoided a lot of them. One of the reasons I think I'm not ready to be a good partner is first I think I'm too angry. I don't think I could be mean to my partner but … I think I could be annoying to deal with. But mainly, I'm not ready to better myself now. To find the good partner, you need to become a good partner first, and this is precisely what I'm not ready to become. Despite being not perfect, I'm fine that way and I know how far from perfect I'm right now. But nevermind. This is the kind of state of mind you can't afford when you're in a relationship. I'm not saying you need to change to fit your partner's ideals. But if you notice something's wrong in your behaviour/habits and don't want to correct it, you might be a bad partner (but I could be wrong, I'm not a couple therapist lol).

Oh. And that's the moment I can describe my photo to tell the story differently. So this shot was taken precisely on Sunday, 4th of October. 1302 got confirmed so we had to go to the Temple du Salin. I went there with my father and he decided to rock a bowtie so I wanted to match him. It was so fun. That was the first time we stepped in a church after « all these events ». It was a strong moment for me. So, this picture (taken by me, thank you tripod) was taken 4 days after I « took a gamble ». I took a lot of gambles this year. One memorable gamble that lead to beautiful pictures of Toulouse was on August 27th (lol). This was after our breakup. I gave her an adress and an hour, and I hopped she would come. She never came so this was a lost gamble. (So I had a great time watching « Back to the future » outdoors, on a big movie screen, but I was alone). But this time was different. I did suppose she would be at one place on a certain day at the end of September. And I gambled right because she was there. And even if the context was so particular, I can tell we had a great time. I was so ready that I put on my best white shirt, because I knew she kinda liked it. I was there to win her back but I simply failed. Guess the shirt wasn't enough. So it was funny to wear the full suit 4 days later, I was like « Dude, nice effort but it's too late lol» (plus the Temple du Salin is on the other side of the closest bridge from her home) but I still hopped to cross her road on that day. Oh and as we're analyzing this picture, I really like the bokeh on the autmun-colored leaves. I had the luck to have a very sweet light when I took these pictures. And the post processing was really funny. I have a lot of versions of this picture indeed. But all these colors in the background always make me think of a quote I love : « Autumn shows us how beautiful it is to let things go » and this quote is so damn right. I discovered this year that I have difficulties to let things go. The thing is I hate injustice. I hate to see things that litteraly belong to me, things I deserve, simply run away from me. Sometimes I'm telling myself it's just my karma making me pay for all the شيطان I've done in the past. But other times I just try to convince myself to let go. It's been the 2nd most challenging thing this year. These levels of depression have never been reached before. But still, here I am. But not stronger than before. I had this conversation a few weeks ago about « what doesn't kill you makes you stronger ». To support this idea, some people might evoke the principle of « Kintsugi » as an example. But I strongly disagree about the first statement. I'm not a goddamn bowl. I take the example of my lower belly scar : it didn't kill me but it didn't get stronger either. That's the exact opposite indeed. Sometimes it still hurts even though it's been done 12 years ago (the last time it hurt was this night, almost stopping me from finding sleep). It's a personal opinion but what didn't kill me made me weaker. And I'm not just talking about physical injuries. Losing the ability to trust after all these events isn't what I'd call « getting stronger », even though « I didn't do anything wrong ». That's an expensive price. Bref. I think you can overcompensate with something else but the damaged parts may stay weak after. [3:03 PM. So I have about 1 hour to finish it. Easy.] There's one thing I wanted to talk about in this sum up, related to the fact of « being strong ». I read Blach again (you can tell by my december posts) and I started with the lost agent arc, followed by the TYBW arc. There's 2 things about it : its poetry, through the words and the drawings will always amaze me (it amazed me even if it’s the 2nd time I’me reading it), and the 2nd thing : I love how Ichigo become stronger. He lost his Shinigami powers but then found his Fullbring powers. And that is very important because he becomes strong again, but it's a different kind of strong and I LOVE THIS. It's like in real life. I was very strong in June 2012 (videos as proof), but it's not the same strong as in July 2017 or April/November 2018. June and July 2020 have been a different kind of strong. Not that I gained 10 kgs in 2 months (unfortunately) but I was exercising daily. I was getting my body ready for the supposed heavenly month of August that was awaiting me (us). Unfortunately there was no videos of karate at this period (but I made some in september!) but I was feeling great physically. In fact. This May/June/July 2020 period could be considered as “bliss” for me. Of course there was some background problems but ... Mentally I was getting back on my feet, I was deeply in love, physically pretty feeling myself. Plus on the 1st half of July i could go back to the tatamis ... I swear this level of peace and life appreciation have rarely been reached before. Well, this concept of getting stronger differently is almost obsessing me for a simple reason : I'm feeling like I'm getting older. 27 is a weird age for competing in karate. If I look back, I realize I'm older than William when he stopped (it's his birthday tomorrow!!). Also older than Zak, Teddy and so on. I guess I'll never be physically like 10 or 5 years ago but I'm really asking myself if I can be better. But as seen as the pains I go through after the trainings … It's going to be complicated. Plus I did my body wrong this year. There was pain in mars, april, august, september, october, november and december. I tried a lot of things to make it go. I tried to smoke it, i tried to sleep it, i tried to drink it also. I tried to fuck it of course but none of these things worked. But can we consider I won if only my cock still works ? Compared to 2018 : yes it is a win. And at least when I'm with someone, that makes less time crying and overthinking shit. Anyway, I also tried to smoke it really hard. And that's an habit I'll have trouble to let go but nvmd. Still, one of my 2021 resolutions is to smoke less. Also, I took a funny resolution that is : « I'm not accepting defeat this year ». And I realized only a few days after taking it how hard it will be. I'm not dumb, when defeat is unavoidable, I'll just take it. But I decided to be a real Scorpio and be more stubborn than ever. We can say it's above all pride. Same pride as Vegeta, Bakugo or even Endeavour. Really touched me when Bakugo talked about « Absolute victory ». Sometimes I find myself too soft. I'm not going to become an awful person (or at least, not more awful than I am right now). I'll still be kind … But I'll go get the victories I deserve a little harder. Talking about my age, I'm a bit deceived I have no close old friends to share the memories. Every one is kinda gone. Sometimes it's my fault, and sometimes it's just people who are shit but life's like this. Also, every year I try to think of my best encounter of the year. It's kinda hard because sometimes, you meet someone a few years earlier but you really get to know each other later etc … So I'm not clear if this should count only people met this year or simply the people I've spent the best times with. Because I received a curious message this summer and my God. What a luck she took the chance to write me. We realized a few days ago we were in the same class in 10th grade (2nde) (we saw the class picture, what a laughter we had). We get along so well. And it's the proof that 2nd chances deserve to be given. I swear that I also lost some important people this year. But I'm not fighting to get people back anymore. I've done it too much and I'm simply done. People need to realize it's a luck to be in my life. I have my ways but you'll hardly find a friend that's patient and kind as I am. But nevermind, it always makes more time and attention for the people who are here, who really care for my hapiness. Focusing on the people who are here was one of the main concern this year, for a lot of reasons. I thought I was good for selecting the good people in my life but looks like I still can improve. So I'm still letting people go off my life. [3:36PM. Guess I said mostly what I had to say. Maybe 5 pages is enough, but maybe not.] Oh I can still tell the rest of the year. November have been one peaceful month. Away from all the obsessions. Focused on me. No karate but still courses by videoconference. The weather was very sweet even tho it was November. This second lockdown was not that funny but we've seen worst. And December … had it's ups and downs. It was cool to meet my kids 1 month after all these video courses. They clearly got stronger, it was cool. I could also talk about my experience as a sensei this year because there's a lot to say. At the beginning of February, it was my last competition but also for my kids. We litteraly took the competition by storm. On était TROP CHAUDS. But then the Covid stopped us. We kinda were ready for Occitanie championship, if you forget that I was sick the week before the competition. I'd have loved so much to see how far their training would have taken them on this competition. But thank God they cancelled it, guess He didn't want to see me lose ahah. So, I've seen a lot of kids getting better. What a pleasure. Later on this year I told them that I wanted to see them become stronger than me. Seems cliché, but I'm happy they took it seriously. Of course I'm dead serious. We also talked about I will be waiting for them in Senior. Hope they'll continue until then. And above all I hope I will still be competing. I really want to have a positive impact on these kids, competitors or not. And I guess it's working. (Btw I'll surely do a post about Whitebeard soon, just to show him love). So. What lessons can we draw from this chaotic year ? Always treat your high school comrades well. Be picky about who you let in your life. Before engaging in a relationship, ask why her previous relationship ended. Trust no B. (And BBW's are heaven sent). Now it's 3:50PM and I guess I'm done. [Friday. 00:55AM] Edit : Ok. The story is funny. I really wanted to finish that in one day. So I wrote the previous lines between 10 AM and 4 PM Wednesday knowing I would need more time, just to check and to add a few more details. And one of those Lonely Wednesday Night would have been perfect just to finish the job. So I planned to finish it on wednesday night but the fact is I forgot my computer home …. So here I am one day later. Still baked, so still in the right state of mind to do it. It gave me time to proofread myself (?) and most importantly, it gave me time to read again some of my previous sum ups. It was interesting to compare how they're all different, and also how my writting evolved. Tbh I think I'm becoming more comfortable with my English. Or maybe the more I express myself, the more I look at ease with the langage. This sum up is the longest I've ever written. But still, I'll add things because I still haven't told everything. For example, I haven't spoken about the fact that all the Kazamastar adventure might be closer to the end than the beginning. Like, I'm not immediatly done with all that. I'm still having a lot of fun here. Anon visitors are also part of the game, but it's still all fun. It also keeps my « photograph eye » opened. This makes me think of the quote «I want to be so awfully happy that I never need to write poetry again. » [#] and more precisely I'm thinking about : do I post more when I'm happy or sad ? But I noticed this tumblr kinda works like therapy for me. (And especially, this post is a therapy by itself. Wednesday I woke up feeling bad, lower belly aching and making this post really helped me going through the day.) This year I proudly finished another tumblr (yes you can guess I was proud as I posted about that 17325 times already and pinned a post). This was such a relief to end it after letting it still for litteraly 2 years. Well that’s it for tonight !

No transition : let's go for the explanations of my choices for the playlist followed by the playlist itself. It's kinda easy to understand why « la mienne » is here, for the first month. This “I can’t touch you I’m not allowed to” really made me think of someone and this someone came back. Incredible. The next song with a Boogie is perfect for February. Very peaceful month, really full of very good moments (in the backseat of a certain car for example). The 2 next songs are for March. These are kinda « lockdown anthems » as The Weeknd album came out right at that time and so did Laylow's. Plus « Escape from LA » have the vibe I really love from Abel. 2 next songs are for April. Dsvn really smashed when he put that « A muse in her feelings » album. (and the « Amusing her feelings » is even better but that won't happen before January 2021). The sequence between « Outlandish – Keep it going - flawless » was one of the best thing I heard musically this year. But keep it going is insane. « Meilleurs » from Oboy is … special. And so are the 2 following songs. Meilleurs is now blacklisted but it's still one good song. But I can't listen to it anymore. Maybe that's exactly because it reminds me June and July. Count me in reminds me precisely of August 8th. Btw what a funny day, very far from all expectations we built up through the years (let's remind that the countdown started with more that 400 days, but I guess patience and loyalty is not always rewarded). I might digress from the playlist one second, but on this day we were in Treilles with the guys, and thank God I had them in this moment ... That’s when I drank to heal, with “count on me” for soundtrack. For September, I hesitated between « DEUX TOILES DE MER » or « MEVTR » (which means « Meilleur d'Entre Vous Tous Reunis », the 1st stage name of Damso). Damso’s flow on MEVTR is huge. He makes a whole verse rhyme and on but … 2 toiles is more iconic. Talking about iconic, « Bande organisée » wasn't a masterpiece but a force to be reckoned with (i find this expression funny ahah). I mean, in hip hop nowadays we don't see often rappers teaming up with big groups like that. Plus on this song particularly some of them have interesing flows and a lot of energy. And you can tell it comes from the South. Not of them are goods, some are excellent but this makes a very decent track. « Route 66 » was cool, even tough it's for November (so 2nd lockdown) it gave me really lovely vibes. And I take this occasion talking about November 2020 to remind it was the 10th anniversary of Kanye West's MBDTF and I celebrated it the right way héhé. Finally, this featuring is really ending the year well. Dinos dropped an insane album, his best since a long time and Tayc also (respectively « Stamina, » and « Fleur froide »). So having them on the same track was risky but it paid very well, incredible vibe from those two combined. They could have been in the top 3 albums but some people made better than them. Trinity is my top 1 one 2020. The concept, the musics … it was INSANE. QALF was also great. It's insane to see Damso get rid of « artistic barriers » to focus only on sound and music. No communication etc … Just music. And Eternal Atake from Lil Uzi Vert because it was long awaited but also because it was perfect, also a 1st lockdown album so it helped me forget my loneliness but so much good tracks ! And finally we have the very special songs that I coudn't tell why I like them. I just love their vibes. So now is 4:15 PM and I'm offically finished but I still have to tweak it.
