friendswithbenefits!Sukuna x reader. Your friend Yuuji sets you up on a date with his co-worker to help you get over your recent slump, not knowing that his dear older brother had ended it months ago.
cw: none really, some possessive behavior
"He's really great though, I swear!"
"What does 'really great' entail, exactly?"
"Well he's nice! Like, super nice."
You waited to see if there was any more information and when there didn't appear to be any forthcoming, pushed your friend. "Yuuji, I'm going to need a little bit more than that."
Yuuji seemed to think about this for a second and as he did you snuck some dumplings off his plate. He'd taken more than his fair share of the take out anyway.
You loved Yuuji, he was one of the most genuinely kind people you'd ever met. He just happened to have terrible taste in men, aside from his own boyfriend.
"Well, when I got lost the other day, he gave me directions and they were super helpful!"
"Wait, did you find this guy on the street? Are you setting me up with a stranger?" It wouldn't surprise you, Yuuji tended to adopt human beings the way a normal person might adopt stray cats. You couldn't complain too much since it's how the two of you had ended up being friends, but it didn't necessarily mean that whoever he'd picked up off the side of the road this time was your one true love.
"No, no, he works in the school too. He teaches like history or something. He just teaches in the upperclassmen building, so I don't see him that much."
"So he gave you directions after you got lost in your own place of work?"
Yuuji either doesn't hear your tone or he chooses to ignore it. "Yeah, really nice dude. He's also good friends with Maki, so you know he must respect women."
That was actually pretty persuasive. Maki would never put up with any man who was a piece of shit, maybe there was something here.
"Is he cute?"
Yuuji scratched his head and tried to take some dumplings off your plate while you blocked him with your chopsticks.
"I mean I guess, he always looks kind of sad but you're into that right?" You blocked his attempts at stealing your dumplings with a little more aggression than necessary at that.
"I am not!"
Yuuji hummed unimpressed, chewing on the dumpling he'd managed to snatch away while you argued. Thief.
"He's like a little taller than me, pretty eyes and he's stronger than he looks. He actually beat me in some sparring matches last year when the teachers competed." You listened even as you scowled at the way Yuuji said all this with his mouth still full of stolen food. He swallowed and gave you a mischievous smirk. "He has really nice hands too."
"Yuuji!"
"They're big and his fingers are long but not too skinny, they kind of remind me of Megumi's-"
"Who the fuck are you talking about?"
You stiffened as Yuuji's older brother walked in, scratching his bare midriff since he seemed to have once again forgot that wearing shirts was an expected human behavior. Even though he was only a few years older than you and Yuuji, he always seemed larger than life. Maybe because you had known him for so long.
"Yuuta, this guy I work with," Yuuji said, pouting when his brother stole some of the food off his plate. Served him right. "Hey! I asked you if you wanted anything before I ordered it."
"And I told you, I don't want any of this garbage. I'm just sampling," Sukuna said as he popped another piece of chicken in his mouth.
"Go eat your stupid healthy food then and leave our garbage alone," Yuuji protested pushing the plate out of Sukuna's reach. Naturally, this led to Sukuna shoving Yuuji's head into the table as he reached over and stole more food off the tray in the middle.
"So why are you talking about Yuuta's hands anyway. You and Fushiguro finally call it quits?" Sukuna's tone was casual but you had once seen him knock out a guy for groping Megumi in a club. If the day came where Yuuji and Megumi actually broke up, you think he might take turns knocking sense into both of them.
"Mnat mor me."
"Huh," Sukuna said even as he kept Yuuji's face pressed to the table. You rolled your eyes.
"He's saying that he's not the one interested, he's trying to set me up with him." You tried to push down the guilt you felt as you spoke after all you had nothing to be guilty about.
There was a flash of something in Sukuna's eyes but it was gone before you could identify it and with one last shove that had Yuuji groaning, he let him up.
"That hurt, you bastard!"
"Not an insult, I'm literally a bastard," Sukuna said and Yuuji rolled his eyes.
"Whatever, anyway, back to helping you get laid-"
"Hey!"
"-I'll let Yuuta know you'll meet him at six?"
"Can you make it eight, only old people eat at six." Yuuji nods and goes to type something in his phone. There's an awkward silence that he doesn't seem to notice and you can't help but look at Sukuna who hasn't taken his eyes off you.
"Didn't realize you were so desperate," Sukuna says and Yuuji doesn't look up from his phone before throwing a punch at him. Sukuna dodges, his eyes still on you.
"There's nothing wrong with going on a date," you say and you wonder who you're convincing. "It has been a while since a nice guy took me out."
"Ah right, I forgot you liked nice guys." His tone is too knowing and you feel yourself flush.
"Stop picking on her, Sukuna. Don't you need to be going to the gym, anyway?" Yuuji asks, finally putting down his phone. He seems to attribute the current tension for you and Sukuna's usual animosity. You wonder if that's all there is to it. Sukuna scoffs and walks back to his room. You still weren't sure why he'd even come out in the first place.
"Whatever, you two have fun planning the wedding," he says, his tone making your hackles rise.
"Say hi to Uraume for me," Yuuji calls back, oblivious. "Tell them I still want a rematch after last week."
Sukuna waves a hand before shutting the door to his room. Yuuji turns back to you and the two of you talk about other topics while your mind wanders.
You weren't doing anything wrong. Were you?
You and Yuuji decide to meet up with Megumi and Nobara for a movie before you need to get ready for your date. While Yuuji goes to his room to change, you head to the kitchen to clean up the remains of lunch.
You're putting some glasses in the sink when you feel a warm presence at your back. You can't hold back your sigh as a familiar pair of thick arms comes to wrap around your waist and a pair of lips presses gently against your neck.
"I haven't seen you in forever," Sukuna murmurs, the movement of his lips against your neck sending a familiar pulse of want to your core. You tell yourself not to let the soft gesture get to you. He never did shit like this without a purpose and his usual purpose isn't going to be fulfilled with Yuuji in the next room.
"You saw me last week, Sukuna," you remind him before leaning away from him to close the dishwasher. His hands slip down to your hips and you just know he's staring at your ass. You roll your eyes even as he pulls you back to him once you're standing. His hands pressing into the curve of your hips, putting pressure on them in that way that makes you melt.
"That's too long, princess. I was getting lonely," he teases and you feel him smirk against your cheek. "You must be lonely too."
"Actually I'm just fine," you tell him but you tilt your head so he can kiss the skin of your face, your neck, the parts of your shoulders revealed by the stretched collar of your old t-shirt. You let him lull you into a false sense of security before he reminds you why that's a bad idea.
"Really? I just assumed you felt lonely and that's why you were agreeing to go on dates with losers you've never even met."
There it was. This was why you couldn't let Sukuna get soft with you. He never did it without returning your vulnerability with malice.
"Sukuna," you say and you go to pull his arms off you but he pushes you into the counter, you wince as the cold stone presses against your body. "Let go of me." Your tone is calm even as emotions band their way across your throat.
"I would, but you seem to get lost when I let you out of my sights. I mean you're going to go on a date with some high school teacher?"
"Your brother literally has the same job?"
"Well, are you going to fuck my brother too?"
"For fuck's sake, Sukuna, get off me!"
Sukuna does let you go but only so he can turn you to face him.
Sukuna doesn't get mad the way normal people do. Usually he's just amused, maybe even mildly annoyed, but blatant rage isn't his thing. After your years of-acquaintanceship? light antagonism?-friendship, you recognized this as the stage where he was about to make his insults increasingly personal until you needed to go cry in the bathroom later.
"We are not dating," you tell him and he rolls his eyes.
"Obviously."
"Therefore, I can go on dates with other people."
"I don't give a fuck if you go on dates with other people."
"Great, because I'm going to go on this date tonight."
"Good for you."
"Yes, yes it is good for me!"
"You seem really happy with your choices," Sukuna goads in that tone of his. You hate that tone.
"I am. I don't plan on just accepting whatever scraps some loser will throw me when there are actually decent guys who want a real relationship."
Sukuna narrows his eyes at you. "What's that supposed to mean?"
"I wasn't being subtle," you tell him before leaning back against the counter. Going for casual, knowing you're not quite hitting it. "Don't worry, I don't hold it against you. You can't give what you don't have, you know?"
"No, I don't know," Sukuna bites out and if he was anyone else, you would think you'd hurt his feelings but this wasn't anyone else and there was no way something you said bother him.
"You're just not a relationship person and that's-that's fine, I knew that before we started this thing. It's just, sometimes I want more." You soften your tone from earlier but it doesn't do anything to relieve the tension between the two of you.
"And this, Yuka is going to give you that?" He sounds bitter and he's not touching you. You'd been the one to tell him to back off but you couldn't remember the last time he hadn't had his hands on you in some way when it was just the two of you.
"I think his name was Yuuta," you correct before his expression tells you this is the wrong step.
"Right, okay. You know what, you go on your date and have the best time with Yuuta. I got places to be."
He brushes past you and goes back to his room just as Yuuji opens the door to his.
"Geez, what's his problem?" He asks as he makes his way over to you. You shrug your shoulders and he takes your lack of response as just your normal discontent with his brother and wraps his arm around your shoulder. "Don't let him get to you, he's just a dick."
"I know," you tell him and you do. You know Sukuna's true nature better than most.
You two make your way out of the apartment so you can make your movie and you try to ignore the guilt you feel as Yuuji talks to you.
"You know, he's actually been in a better mood the past few months. I think he might actually be seeing someone. Can you imagine who would be crazy enough to actually date that asshole?"
new series? wrote this to get the rust off so we'll see.

☆ - it has always been you | haitani rindou
me, writing for something other than blue lock? wow!
rindou is shy with women, idc what you think
wc: 3k, not proofread, fem!reader
You've been friends with the infamous Haitani brothers for as long as you can remember.
At this point, you weren't sure how you guys met. You were the same age as Ran, so chances were you met in kindergarten. Maybe you just saw them one day, and decided that they would be your friends. You thought that it really didn't matter anymore at this point.
You were a ''good girl'', like your parents always called you. Kind-hearted, a model student, always helping out those in need. Even if Ran and Rindou did all kinds of things you didn't even want to know about, you weren't influenced. Despite considering them your best friends, you made sure to keep a certain level of distance. And they respected that, even though they were always so happy to tell you about how their fights went.
When your best friends landed themselves in juvie, you chewed them out for it. You were disappointed, to say the least. But you saw that something in them had changed. There was something foreign, that you had to stay away from.
Living in Roppongi, you constantly heard stories of the gangs Ran and Rindou lead, and the crimes they did. People would call them charismatic, but you just thought they were stupid. You just couldn't wrap your head around it. What was so great about that kind of life?
When the three of you were together, you saw a side of them not many people got to see. They were brothers, so they were constantly at each other's throats for whatever reason, but then minutes later they would be laughing at something stupid.
For the most part, they were gentle with you. You knew that you are important to them, they cared about you just as much as you did about them. But more often than not, they would gang up together to make fun of you whenever you made a small mistake, or said something silly. Even if it annoyed you, it just showed how comfortable they were with you.
Countless times you would hear rocks thrown at your window at unholy hours. There were always two possibilities; One, they wanted to take you along on whatever silly idea they had. Two, they had been in a fight and wanted you to patch them up. You were glad to do that, of course, but every time you made sure to scold them. They would apologize, but you knew they didn't truly mean it.
Your parents disliked the infamous duo. They always told you to stay away from them, and that they were a bad influence. Sure, they weren't wrong, but you always reminded them of how well you did in school, and they left it at that. Sometimes the two would visit and actually come in through the front door instead of the window. They would make sure to be polite with your parents, even if they already knew that their image couldn't be saved.
''He wouldn't speak, so I broke his fingers one by one-'' ''Jesus, Rindou, I don't want to hear the rest. You are too sadistic.'' You complained to the blonde who was sitting in front of your bed. You were laying on your stomach on your bed, facing him, while Ran had taken up the rest of your bed, already dozing off. He even claimed your pillow and blanket.
Rindou's grin dropped at your words, and he muttered a small 'sorry'. ''You just go a bit overboard sometimes, you aren't a yakuza.'' You gave him a reassuring smile. Before you got to continue, you felt Ran move around next to you, and you turned to look at him. ''Slept well, sleeping beauty?'' You smirked at him, and he gave you a quick glare. ''Would've slept well if you two didn't blabber so much. My bed may be the best, but yours is definitely number two.'' His arm lazily snaked around you, and he pulled you closer to him.
Physical touch with either of them was something you were used to, but Ran was always the one to be more touchy. Rindou would sometimes flinch from your hands touching, while his older brother had no problems hugging or cuddling with you. Right now he was holding you so tightly that you could barely breathe.
''rin...dou help.'' You desperately extended your arm towards the blonde, who just shrugged. Feeling heartbroken and defeated, you accepted your fate. Unbeknownst to you, Ran was currently smirking at his brother, who tried to avert his gaze. The two could speak sentences without saying a word, so there was a lot of things you didn't know.
Like the fact that Rindou has had a crush on you for a long time.
And Ran knew about it.
Ran would always push his brother towards confessing, but Rindou was just too shy. Part of him didn't want to drag you more into the messes he got himself in. In addition to that, he was greatly afraid of you rejecting him. Would you even look at him the same after? Would he ruin the comfortable friendship you had with the two of them?
When Rindou wouldn't make a move, Ran took matters into his own hands. He would try to make his brother jealous. That was the only way, he thought.
Ran would get you flowers for no reason, buy you your favorite snacks, and be extra touchy with you. Of course he didn't do any of that just because he felt like he had to for his brother's sake. He would never tell his brother this, but there was a part of him that wanted to be the one by your side. However when his younger brother came to him one evening asking for advice, he had decided to push those feelings away.
But Rindou, he did see the genuineness in his brother's actions. And in his eyes, he saw how you would smile so brightly at his brother, your eyes always lighting up. He wondered if he ever even stood a chance.
Could you really love a hoodlum like him?
''Ouch!'' Rindou was shaken from his thoughts by your voice. You were currently pushing Ran away from you, and he was full on laughing. ''Did you see that, Rindou? He bit me!'' You exclaimed while Ran continued to laugh. Rindou gave his brother a glare and finally got up. He took a hold of your arm, pushing his brother lightly while pulling you towards himself. Your back leaned against him with his hands being on your shoulder, while you glared at Ran.
''You monster.'' You pouted at him. ''Bet you are into that.'' The older brother stopped laughing to wink at you. ''Perv.'' Rindou spoke up. His hand pushed your hair out of the way and he looked at the mark that his brother had put on you. Was he officially claiming you as his?
The rest of that day went rather peacefully, with you clinging into Rindou while sending glares to Ran. The whole time Ran had a huge shit-eating grin on his face, which pissed you off even more. So in the end, you just completely ignored the older brother, and just focused on Rindou.
''Rindou. Let's go home, I'm tired.'' You eventually heard Ran complain. That guy had taken a total of three naps throughout their visit, and he was still tired? Rindou sighed, but got up from the spot he was sitting in, ''Fine.'' Feeling a bit disheartened at their quick decision to leave, you still followed them downstairs. Your father sent you a glare from the living room, pointing at the clock that said 10 pm. Not even that late, considering it was summer vacation.
You closed to door behind you, giving the duo in front of you a small smile. ''Come visit again whenever you want.'' You told them. ''Next time we are visiting through the window, your father always gets so angry when we come by.'' Ran chuckled. ''Just ignore him.'' You answered, quickly stepping in to give him a hug. That's something you had been doing since you were children. Eventually Rindou had stopped accepting your hugs, and you had stopped offering them. This time, though, something told you to open up your arms at him. For some reason, he accepted.
That hug felt different, in a way. It didn't last long, but you felt like it had more meaning to it than just a simple 'goodbye'.
Rindou quickly pulled away, and with one quick glance at his brother, he started walking away. Ran gave you a wave, before following his younger brother. You watched them walk away, your heart beating a bit faster than usual.
At the same time, Rindou was glaring at his brother, more than usual. ''What?'' Ran smirked at him. ''You got a hug out of it, you always complain about how she no longer even tries to give you one.'' ''No need to bite her, though.'' ''You didn't care when she was basically being suffocated. That probably broke her heart.'' Ran held his hand over his heart. ''You are so dramatic.'' Rindou sighed, rolling his eyes. Ran answered with a laugh.
''But seriously, Rindou.'' Ran spoke up again, his tone now serious. ''You need to make a move. She won't know about your feelings if you don't tell her.'' ''You sound so serious, as if you have any more experience than me.'' Rindou answered with a sarcastic tone. ''Maybe not with serious relationships, but at least I get laid more often.''
Rindou sighed in frustration.
The next day, you decided to go out. Just to have some time for yourself. Maybe to possibly run into a wild Ran or Rindou.
Instead, you ran into something you have been trying to avoid.
''Is this really her? The little missy seen with the Haitani brothers?''
You were surrounded by maybe 7 guys, who were whispering to each other. It wasn't your first time. Rumors spread fast, and at least everyone in Roppongi knew that you were friends with the brothers. It attracted some unwanted attention. There were occasions where you would get harassed by complete strangers. They usually wanted to use you against the Haitanis, but there was a thing they didn't know.
You knew how to fight.
Of course Ran and Rindou taught you some things. Ways to get out of situations like these. Usually, you would try to talk yourself out of them. Rarely it worked. You wanted to call yourself a pacifist, but these idiots around you made it so difficult.
''Hey. What are you to the Haitanis?'' A man spoke up, who you assumed to be the leader. He was nothing compared to Ran and Rindou, you thought. A classic musclehead with no charisma.
''What's it to you? You gonna pay me for the information?'' You asked sarcastically, eyeing the men around you. You knew you couldn't win against all 7 of them, you weren't that strong. You also noticed that some of them had weapons, such as pipes, and you knew there was a chance that at least one of them carried a knife. You had a knife as well, but you only used that in extreme situations.
''Did ya hear that? The bitch can speak.''
Your eyes narrowed. More often than not you would piss off the person bothering you, and would get called a bitch, or a whore. It's like none of these men knew how to talk to women.
''Have some fucking respect.'' You spat, now walking towards him. ''I don't care what kind of beef you have with Ran and Rindou, but it has nothing to do with me.'' Before you could even realize what was happening, the man's fist made contact with your cheek. The force made you fumble, but you stayed up.
''How about you have some respect, huh?! Do you even know who I am?!'' ''Honestly? No. And I couldn't care less.''
You had one thing that always worked in your favor. The element of surprise.
You wasted no time and kicked him in the stomach. He winced in pain, doubling over from the impact. With everyone else now surprised and caught off guard, you bolted.
They didn't follow you for long, or maybe it's better to say that you were just too fast. Slowly calming down from the adrenaline rush, you spotted a familiar park. You used to play there with Ran and Rindou as children, and you still occasionally visited it.
And there you saw Rindou, with a bottle in his hand.
Shaking your head lightly, you walked up to him. ''Drinking with the homeless again?'' You asked, placing a hand on your hip. He was in the middle of taking a sip, and your voice startled him, causing him to cough uncontrollably. ''N-not many homeless around here.'' He gazed at the playground filled with children that was some distance away. ''I don't think drinking near children is any better.'' You sat down next to him.
It took him a while, but eventually he looked at you. Quickly putting the bottle on the ground, he used his hand to turn you towards him. ''Who hurt you?'' He asked, eyes glued to the red mark on your cheek.
''Oh this? Some thug, I don't know. Kicked him in the stomach and ran away.'' You shrugged. Rindou's gaze softened. ''Should've kicked him where the sun doesn't shine.'' A small smile made its way to his lips, before his expression turned serious again. ''But for real, (Y/n). What did he look like? I won't let him get away with this.''
''You don't need to do that.'' You smiled softly at him, getting lost in his violet eyes.
''No, (Y/n). I do. I won't let anyone hurt my- uh, our-, uh our friend.'' He trailed off, mentally face palming at himself. Real smooth, Rindou.
You let out a laugh, making Rindou's face flush out a light shade of pink. He was embarrassed, but there was something about your laugh that made him feel things he couldn't explain. No one else had ever made him feel this way, when he was with you, nothing else mattered. Time didn't pass and he felt so light. There was nothing he could worry about. You were so beautiful, no one else compared. Your laugh was like music to his ears.
''Rin? You are staring.'' You snapped him back to reality.
''Oh, sorry.''
''No need to apologize. Stare all you want.''
Rindou was caught off guard, raising his brow in confusion. ''Excuse me?''
''Sorry. That was weird.''
''No need to apologize. Be weird all you want.''
A silence, which was soon followed by laughter.
Moments like this, Rindou wished they could last forever. But they never did. Eventually you would get interrupted by his brother.
''Hey, Rindou?" "Yeah?" You stayed silent for a while, suddenly feeling nervous. You wondered if you really wanted to go through with this.
You were afraid. Afraid of what he would say, afraid of what would happen after. Afraid of change, and the unknown.
"I...there's someone I like."
Rindou's world came crashing down. This was it. He had lost.
"Y-yeah? Who is it?" His voice was breaking.
You took his hand in yours. "He's someone very close to me...Strong and charismatic..." You studied his calloused hands.
'fuck it's ran.'
"I...like you, Rindou."
"Huh? What?" He blurted out. A bit taken aback, you let his hand go. Rindou looked at you, looking for any hints of sarcasm or deception. He found none.
When he didn't answer, your defences went up. "Y-you don't need to say anything. I don't know why I said that, really. It just...came out. Felt right, I guess...I-" You kept going until Rindou stopped you.
''Wait. I thought you liked Ran.''
''...What?''
''What?''
Your brows furrowed in confusion. ''Why would I like him? He's a great friend sure but I'm not into him that way.''
Rindou blinked once. Twice. His face showed a hint of joy, and then again confusion. "But you are so touchy with him." "Yeah? I've always been touchy. You just stopped accepting my hugs." "...Fair enough."
Still, he couldn't believe that you would actually like him. It was something he had dreamt of, but he had never actually believed it to be true.
"Seriously, Rindou. Just reject me so I can move on." You hung your head low, not wanting to look at him. You thought you knew what was coming.
Instead, you felt Rindou's hand lift your chin, and his lips on yours. Before you could even react, they were already gone. You now looked at him, meeting his violet eyes once again. They were filled with determination.
"(Y/n). I love you."
Your eyes widened in surprise.
Love.
Such a strong word.
You knew Rindou wasn't the type to just throw the word 'love' around. There was meaning to it.
"Why didn't you say anything sooner?" You asked quietly. "I was...afraid. I didn't want to ruin anything between us."
The exact same thing applied to you. You felt silly for overthinking his actions so much. Each and every time he had rejected your touch, your heart broke. You thought that maybe you did something wrong, maybe you made him angry.
But Rindou is shy.
"Isn't there something that you are supposed to ask me?"
"Do I have to?"
"Of course you do."
Now Rindou took your hand in his. "(Y/n)...will you be my girlfriend?"
You stayed silent for a bit, pretending to think about it.
"...Yes."
"Don't play with me like that, love." Rindou sighed in relief. He put his arm around your shoulder, pulling you closer.
You rest your head on his shoulder, now gazing at the playground you had already forgotten about. Was it too early to start thinking about mini Rindous running around?
Rindou felt like he was on cloud nine. You two were silent, but it was a comfortable silence. He still had a lot to learn, a lot to experience. But he was happy to do all that with you by his side.
...
He would probably enjoy the moment way more, if he didn't see his idiot brother hiding in the bushes giving him a thumbs up.

Party Animal
Steve hated parties. And who could blame him? The infamous Halloween party of 1984 left more scars on his heart than he carried from all his other misadventures. Alcohol made people say thinks they buried deep inside, but then instead of owning up to them, they'd say "I was drunk", as if that was any excuse. So yes, Steve and parties didn't go together anymore.
And yet he stupidly decided to throw one anyway.
Look, they deserved it. All of them did - Eddie, Nancy, Robin, even Jonathan and Argyle, they all earned acting like actual teenagers for one evening. Steve wanted to see Eddie, now miraculously his boyfriend, just have fun, laugh, be silly. So a party it was.
It all went great - dancing, drinking, nibbling on mountains of Argyle's homemade pizza - but eventually they all got drunk. Not Steve, he just sipped one beer and kept an eye on everyone. Jonathan and Argyle were smoking outside, Nancy and Robin flirted in the most embarrassing way possible and Eddie...
Steve heard sniffling from the bathroom and his heart sank.
He didn't want to go there. He didn't want to be told that this was all a misunderstanding, that he pressured Eddie with his flirting, didn't want to hear he's bullshit again.
But no matter how terrified he was, he could never abandon Eddie. So he went in.
Eddie was leaning over the sink, wiping at his face and trying to control his breathing. "Shit..." he muttered and turned away from Steve. "Sorry, I...uh. I'll be there in a sec."
"Eddie..." It came out as a whisper. "Are...are you okay? Did I do something?"
Eddie just chuckled and pulled hair in front of his face. "Sure did," he mumbled.
And it made horrible sense to Steve. Of course he was the reason Eddie was crying. He couldn't help fucking up, he'd tried so hard to change but apparently it was 1984 all over again. So he took a deep breath and waited for the final blow.
"You're just perfect, Stevie."
Oh.
That wasn't what being broken up with sounded like. In fact, Eddie didn't seem angry at him at all. "...sorry?"
Eddie laughed, wet and high in his throat. "Like, you...you are too good to be true, you know? You throw a party for us and then you even don't drink so we're all cared for if anything happens? You...you give your best friend a green light to date your ex who shredded your heart to pieces? You invite the guy that your ex cheated on you with and his friend? You're just so good about it. And you're funny and so bitchy that I want to kiss you all the time. And I just...I love you so much, you know? And I've never felt that way about anyone and it's fucking scary, man."
Steve's racing thoughts came to a screching halt. Where he was too busy panicking and praying he'd still have time to fix whatever he did, now his brain settled on maybe I'm not getting broken up with? "So, uh..." he muttered as he watched Eddie try fix his eyeliner, "...there's, like, nothing wrong? Or maybe...do you want me to go slower? I know I can be a lot."
His boyfriend gave an incredulous laugh. There was no salvaging the eyeliner now, it was getting caught in Eddie's early crow feet, and Steve had never seen a more beautiful sight. "No, Steve. You're not a lot. In fact, you're just enough in every single way, but knowing that you're it for me, that good things can happen...it makes me terrified. I've never put all my drugs in a single lunchbox, or whatever metaphor you want to use for it, but with you I'm just throwing all the caution into the wind. And for the first time, I..." he stopped, chewing on his lip, "...I don't want to run away when I mess up. I want to stay, face the music and fix it. You're re-writing the Munson doctrine again and again and I just...I don't want you to settle for me, Steve. You are the whole package and I'm still cleaning all my messes. I guess today showed me that and I...yeah. Sorry about all this," he pointed at his tear-streaked face.
Eddie suddenly seemed so small, so insecure, and that wouldn't do. It woke Steve up from his frozen state and he took a step forward, cradling Eddie's face in his palms. "I'm not. Settling for you, that is." He was probably smudging the black even more, but Eddie would have been beautiful to him even fully covered in grime, and there were more important things to focus on. "Eddie, you keep talking about the Munson doctrine and being work in progress, but you don't see how you've thrown all the stuff I used to do out of the window, and I'm better for it. With you, I don't feel rushed, I don't have to perform or pretend. I can just live in the moment."
As he continued his speech, something strange started happening. Seeing people cry normally had a guaranteed effect on Steve - just one tear, quiet sob and he pushed his emotions down to be dealt with later or possibly never, someone needed him, and that was the priority. But now, staring at Eddie's wet eyes and shaky hands? He felt his own face crumbling and what better place to hide it than in Eddie's Metallica t-shirt. It smelled of cigarettes, pizza and the cheap laundry detergent that had come to mean home to Steve. "Sorry," he choked out. "Shit. I was...sorry, I'm supposed to be...you know. Consoling you. But I heard you crying and I thought...I..."
Eddie shook his head and tightened his grip on Steve's waist. "Oh Stevie. Whatever that pretty head of yours thought of, it's not happening. Unless it's kissing me, which duh, that's happening, if you want to of course, and staying with me to the point that you're sick of me."
Steve just whimpered into Eddie's shoulder, something that suspiciously sounded like "Now who's perfect, huh?"
His boyfriend just chuckled. "I guess that in a way, we both are. Maybe for each other?" If he'd aimed for self-deprecating tone, he failed. Instead, it was hopeful.
Steve didn't answer, but his embrace said it all.
They remained wrapped around each other for a long while, until Eddie whispered in Steve's ear: "how about we let the others celebrate on their own, hm? They won't be driving, their stuff is already in the guest bedrooms, and I hear your bed is wonderful this time of the year."
There was a muffled "yes" coming from Eddie's shoulder, and a few adjustments and "Good night!"s later, they found themselves in Steve's bedroom. Eddie managed to remove most of the rogue eyeliner, which was lucky. The time in the bathroom wasn't the last time he shed a tear that day, because as they were falling asleep, Steve said:
"You might be the first person who is dating the real me, and I'd like you to be the last one as well."
Tomorrow, he'd hold a funeral for the Munson doctrine. But today, he was going to wrap himself around Steve like a cuddly octopus and know that even if he doesn't manage to hold on tight the whole night, Steve would be there in the morning.

Ok, but can we talk about Erin with a darling who's just sweet as pie to him? Just, every threat or insult is met with kind words and love and our boi is conflicted. On one hand, he knows they love him, on the other, please just fucking step on him he's this close to begging for it
Imagine him opening up to them and off-handedly making a self-deprecating joke when he hears a snap. The pencil in his darling's hand is crushed and the hand that once held it is now wrapped around his throat "If I hear any more of that talk about my wonderful boyfriend I might just have to beat some sense into you"
is this anything? Fuck if I know, but it was in my head and now it's in yours!
[Male Yan Bully + G.N Reader] (warnings: choking, masochism)
Erin knew he wasn't the greatest guy around.
Petty theft, belittling and fighting with his peers, and his tendency to fly off the handle for the smallest issue already gave him a poor rep with locals. Things only got worse when you came into the picture. Everything about you was the polar opposite to himself. When he insulted you upon first meeting you asked if he was feeling well. When he finally came to accept his feelings and told you the two of you were dating without any previous attempts to win you over, you just smiled and asked him where to meet him for lunch.
Threats towards yourself and others where brushed off with a laugh. They toned down once you began dating, but Erin couldn't help but press you at times out of sheer confusion that you actually seemed to be enjoying time spent with him. It's not let you had many others with him harassing anyone who gets too close, but you never complained- even liking the silence. You patched him up after every scuffle and didn't ask how the began or ended. He doesn't understand you at all, but finds it hard to function without you. He can't wrap his head around it.
"Why do you like me?"
Heart printed bandage in hand, your passive expression scrunches with worry over your boyfriend's words. You place it over his blistered knuckles. "What are you going about now, Rin? I don't just like you and you know that."
Erin chews his lips, shying away from your concerned scare. "Yea, I know, but it just makes even less since if you ask me. It's pretty common knowledge that I'm not exactly a model citizen. For Christ's sake I've been hard on you before and still am. I can't control these things about me and when I see you around other people I just.... You're probably better off with someone else.
"Soooo.. what I'm hearing is you're saying I'm not good at choosing partners?"
"Ugh- this isn't about you, Y/n. I'm trying to be serious for once. Hrk!- "
Spit and a choked string of obscenities fall from Erin's lips as a hand clasps firm around his throat. Your nails stab his beating flesh as his pulse increases. He struggles for a word, but is unable to form his lips to speak as he gasps
"Oh yes it is. If my boyfriend is doubting his position I'm obviously not doing something right. I thought loved me too Rin."
His eyes shoot to the protruding veins of your wrist as your fingers lock in place, pressing down on his trachea. He blinks away tears - broken by you even thinking you're part of the problem. You snap your fingers to regain his fleeting attention.
"Hey!- Eyes up here. It's true you could use some temper adjustments, and you think with your fist but you have a good head on your shoulders and such a big heart. I've seen it when you knocked on every door in my neighborhood because I was out sick and you forgot my address. I've felt it everytime you've kissed and held me. You're my boyfriend, Rinny. Don't make me knock some sense into you - got it?"
Erin dips his head to signal a nod. He longs to take your words to heart, but it's easier said than done with you fulfilling a fantasy he wouldn't confess to even on his death bed. He dreamt about what it would be like to have such caring hands be the cause of his destruction. He couldn't pry himself out of your grip even if he wanted to. It was better than anything this fucked mind could make up.
"Rinny~ I need words. You're gonna make me cry if you keep bullying me like this."
His heart jumps at the playful nickname. " 'm yours....promise... all yours."
Your smile returns - pressed to his cheek as you kiss his skin. "Good. Now that that's over, want some help with that?"
Erin holds his knees together, pulling his jacket over his crotch. "Shut it."

A Difference In Fate
You knew Miguel had been hiding something from you, you just didn't know what. Stupidly, you thought the best of him.
TW: Agressive Miguel lmao
Tumblr media
You weren't meant to find out.
Miguel wasn't sure for how long he'd hide it from you. Maybe a month, a year, forever. It didn't matter.
He'd only known you for a short amount of time, but he knew he was too late when he started to worry about what you thought about him. When Miguel told you about what happened to Gabrila and that universe, he felt a deep shame he'd never felt before. Yes, he lived with the guilt that came from destroying an entire fucking universe and all the billions of innocent people inside, but he was also terrified that you'd leave him because of it.
When you didn't, after a night of tears and shame, he knew he'd never let you go. Even if it killed him.
Which is why he lied, when he had that meeting about Miles that you had missed, he lied and said that it was nothing.
When you asked why Lyla wouldn't give you a rundown of the meeting, he lied again and said it must be faulty in her coding, and that the files couldn't be recovered.
Sure he felt guilty about lying to you, but he more so felt a sense of anxiety about when you'd find out, not if.
Another thing Miguel loved and appreciated about you, was that you were incredibly acute and intelligent. Nothing ever went past you when it came to people or plans. You always quickly noticed the small details or came up with new strategies.
That, and that you were just incredibly fucking lucky.
___________________________________________
"So, what do you think about that last meeting?" Peter B. Parker from Earth 616B asked you, catching you off guard from the paper you were reading. His tired eyes and five o'clock shadow seemed worse than ever. He seemed to be having a rough day since the whole morning he had been mostly silent, like there was a weight in his mind holding him down to drag him to the depths of hell.
"Oh, I didn't make it. What was it about, anyway?" You shrugged, spider mask pulled up to your forehead to take a bite out to the 'Original Spiderman Burger'
He stared at you for a bit, blue eyes watching your movements. "Did Miguel not tell you?" He asked, genuinely taken aback at your lack of knowledge of the situation.
You chewed quickly, covering your mouth while trying to answer as fast as you could. "No, and he still won't. I want to know! Was it about something embarrassing?" You laughed, grabbing your drink.
"It was about the anomaly." Peter said, voice curt and timid.
You raised an eyebrow at his odd behavior, usually, you and Peter easily bounced off one another, both your jovial and rather silly personalities perfect companies for each other. To see him being so quiet with you was worrying.
"I got that man, just tell me, I don't bite. My teeth aren't as sharp as Miguels." You elbowed him, smiling like you would a timid cat. You took another drink to try and give off a relaxed aura, but inside your heart was picking up with his lack of relaxation.
"It's-the anomaly is the kid I talk to you about all the time. He was never meant to be a Spider-Man. We're not allowed to interact with him in any way until we figure out a way to find a solution." Peter said solemnly, turning to hunch over his uneaten food. His own masked burger staring back at him.
You scoffed with liquid in your mouth, swallowing before giving out a barking laugh. "What does that even mean? Not meant to be Spider-Man, who's meant to be Spider-Man? It just happens, it's luck not fate." You grumbled, face screwed up half in disbelief and half in genuine confusion. Suddenly you jerked up in shock, and quickly turned to the older man.
"Isn't he the kid that made you want to have a baby in the first place?" You placed a hand on Peter's shoulder, feeling his cold shoulder through the soft fabric of his suit.
"Yeah." Was all he said, a grave look on his face.
You tilted his shoulder at you, and watched his eyes slowly move over to your kind face. "Hey man, don't worry about it. Miguel seems tough, but on the inside, he's just a big softie. Trust me, I'd know. I sleep with the man every night. We'll figure it out, alright?" You reassured him, smiling brightly at him.
Peter looked down again and hit his fist on the counter. "Yeah, you're right. It always works out in the end, huh?" Peter's voice was strong like all the hope he had lost was now found and stronger than ever.
___________________________________________
"It's kind of sad, you know? Like, it wasn't his fault he wasn't supposed to be Spider-Man." Pavitr Prabhakar said, hands deftly working to fidget with his yo-yo.
Both your guy's hair swayed softly in the warm Mubattan air. You played with the bottom of your spider suit feet. "Yeah, sounds like he's just a kid."
"Well, I'm sure it'll figure itself out, after all, we're all Spider-People right? Everything is great!" Pavitrs voice got fainter as he whipped away, probably going off to swing around Gayatri's neighborhood.
You looked off into the sunset, eyes squinting at the bright light of the sun. Still, you basked in the warmth as you sat, just pondering and mulling over your feelings over the whole situation.
You liked Pav, as you've all started calling him, his happy-go-lucky and glass-half-full personality was infectious, and he was overall just a joy to be around.
It made you have a gut-wrenching bad feeling, especially since he hadn't had his canon event yet. You wished there was a way for him to just be happy and be Spider-Man without the life-altering loss that came with it.
___________________________________________
"That's the price you have to pay when you become Spider-Man." Miguel said later that evening, sitting at the table while he filtered through emails, videos, and reports.
You came over and kissed his head, swiping away all the red screens taking over your shared table. Instead, you replaced his work with food, more specifically asada quesadillas.
"Okay sure, but he's just a kid y'know? Like, he's barely able to drive a car and now has this duty to protect a whole ass city. Let alone deal with an unbearable loss that would break a full gown adult." You challenged, staring at your boyfriend across the table. You had brought up your feelings about Pav and how the guilt of his misfortune weighted you down.
You still haven't told him that you know about the kid. Miles. For some reason, a part of yourself told you that you should. That you should hide that knowledge because for some reason a part of you thought he'd be upset. No, knew he'd be mad.
"It's the fate of the universe." He sighed, eating his food as if the whole conversation was boring.
"But what does that mean? Doesn't fate bring in the idea of gods or goddesses? A higher power saying this should be the way? And what about destiny? Then doesn't that bring in the question of whether or not it's real, let alone that we have to abide by those rules?" You started, rambling about the subject. This whole situation seemed wrong, like Miguel's ideals weren't quite right. You knew Miguel was intelligent, insanely so that he created his own AI and created a multi-diversional portal travel and created a society within his universe to combat world-breaking enemies.
Still. Something about this was wrong.
Miguel growled out your name, dropping his food on his plate to stare at you so intensely it made you gulp. He clenched his fists on the table, obviously trying to hold back his anger before he spoke to you.
"You know what happened to me when I tried to break the rules. God or not, things happen for a reason." Miguel said, eyes lowering to try and continue eating.
"What about us? We're from different universes, yet we live together, and we're dating. Are we fate? Or are we pure coincidence?" You asked, trying to get him to explain in a more logical reasoning like you know he's capable of.
Miguel slammed his fist on the table, rattling the dishes placed down and you. "Can we drop this? This conversation is going nowhere." He was getting angry, you could tell. But still, something in you nagged and ate away at your soul.
"Yes, perdón amor." Your eyes fluttered down, and you gulped away the hot stinging of your throat.
"I'm sorry hermosa, but you know this is the only way." Miguel offered, holding his hand out across the table to reassure you.
You met him halfway, and smiled at him shakily. Still, you didn't believe him.
___________________________________________
"He was your friend?" You asked curiously while you went over the blueprints for the watches. You wanted to customize yours further, so you invaded Lyla's security, (asked pretty please), and now were trying to see what changes you could make.
Gwen Stacy was behind you, arms crossed while she looked to a wall, dissociating. "Yeah, and I can't see him at all even though I want to. So badly." She sighed, tired eyes looking down. You looked back to her, offering a sad smile.
"We'll figure it out honey, I'm sure."
"Why are you dating Miguel?" She suddenly asked, and at those words, you whipped around and gave her an incredulous look. Your hands on your hips with a disbelieving smile.
Both of you looked up to see Hobart walking in, sauntering over to your workstation. "Hey." He nodded up to both of you, immediately going through your files.
Both you and Gwen greeted him before you turned your attention back to the girl. "What do you mean?"
"Well, you're just so nice and understanding while Miguel is...well Miguel." She said, exasperation filling her voice.
You laughed, brushing her off. "Hes not that complicated, just rough around the edges, I promise."
"What do they say, love is blind?" Hobie spoke up, eyes hyper-focused on the watch details.
"That's not applicable to this." You waved him off. Walking over, you put both hands on Gwen's slim arms, giving them a grounding squeeze. "Everything will be fine, we just need time to figure out a solution to this problem yeah? Miguel and everyone else has been aware of this problem for a while, it's just now it has a name!" You smile, trying to uplift the depressing mood.
"Yeah, and his name is Miles Morales, a sixteen-year-old kid." Hobie said, his hands drifting down from whatever he was doing with his watch.
You sighed, hanging your head down before you walked back over to your table. "Thank you for the optimism Hobie."
"You're welcome." With that, he walked out.
___________________________________________
That conversation went the same with Jess and many other members of the spider society, saying that 'taking care of' Miles would be for the greater good.
But what is the greater good? What good were the protecting? Apparently, Miles's universe has been doing fine so far, what's so wrong with that?
Apparently, his whole existence was flawed.
At the end of that day, when everyone either went home or started a night shift to find out where Miles had gone, Miguel returned home.
When he opened the door, he half expected you to be at the table or living room searching for Miles for him, to be directing people, or actively searching for him with Miguel. Of course, he knew you really wouldn't be.
Miguel only returned home to check up on you, after everything.
The whole time you had stood back, and without his knowledge helped Miles escape Miguel's wrath. But he didn't know that.
The front door creaked open, and Miguel was greeted with a dark and quiet house. The only light that was seen was the yellow light of your shared bedroom down the hall.
When he closed the door and silently crept in his own home, he could hear quiet sobbing coming from the room
"Amor?" He peeked in his room, fully stepping in at seeing your hunched-over form. Basically in the fetal position, sitting at the edge of your bed you had your hands on your head.
You looked up, and when he saw your face he immediately stepped back. Rage still filled him, but seeing you made him completely break down.
Your face was one of pure fury, an anger so deep and true it morphed your wet face into something unnatural. Your hair was wild and messy, your face also covered in small scratches form god knows what, and your knuckles were white from how hard you were clenching them.
"What the actual fuck are you doing here? Don't you have a child to murder?" Your snarled mouth pulled back to show off your teeth. Even though you didn't have fangs like him, doesn't mean a bite from you wouldn't hurt.
Instantly, Miguel snapped back. "Don't you dare-"
"No, shut the fuck up. What the fuck was that? Who even are you?" You asked, standing up to your full height.
"I was-am stopping an anomaly from destroying the entire multiverse. I'm saving-" Miguel's voice was raising by the word, his large build hunching over to try and intimidate you.
"Don't talk about him like he's not a child! Don't act like you're not hunting down a literal child? What is wrong with you?!" You screamed, voice raw from the running and crying you'd done all day.
"This. This is what I didn't want to tell you! You don't understand the gravity of the situation! Pinche-" He started, eyes glowing that sparkling red you had grown to love after the long three years you'd known Miguel.
Now they just disgusted you.
"I knew! I've known this whole fucking time! But I trusted you to know what to do, because I love you, and I know you're so smart. But this? I-i can't-" You turned around, hands shakily typing frantically into your watch.
"Lo siento, lo siento preciosa, no quise gritar-" Suddenly Miguels voice was filled with sorrow, and he reached out to hold you in his arms. The same arms that held you, cradled you, strapped you down, and lifted you up.
"Stop, just stop." You sobbed, quickly opening a portal to god knows where, just anywhere but here-
Miguel called out your name, and you turned around to see his eyes piling with tears. His face twisted into the most pained face you've ever seen, his fangs popping out of his lips, his mouth pulled back to a vicious snarl, and his eyebrows furrowed down so deep he grew another crease in his forehead.
You looked down to hold back another sob, shaking your head while walking closer to the portal.
You didn't even glace back at him when you left.

painting with h. hyunjin
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This week really did you and your boyfriend dirty. Everyday you would come home yawning, shoulders slump, complaining about how much you dream of getting into the bed. You find Hyunjin at your shared apartment, already grumpy, most likely splashed on the couch looking absolutely dead. You would just lay down on his back, nuzzling face into his hair. The drama king he is, Hyunjin would whine in fake pain, throwing you off of him, just to grab your tired body and lock it tightly in between his arms. Usually you fell asleep like this, having to rush yourself the morning after to take a shower and do everything people normally do after work. Monday, tuesday, wednesday and thursday, they all looked like this, they all felt like world just chew you up and spit you out on the ground for no reason.
But today's friday. The only thing keeping you alive at work was thought of weekend starting, knowing that your boyfriend stays home with you for these two days and you can have him all to yourself. Maybe that's why you got just slightly disappointed when you found him sitting in front of a blank canva with all his painting set already on the table. Of course, you absolutely adored Hyunjin's artwork and watching him focused on his hobby was your favorite thing to look at, ever. You once spent four hours just admiring his relaxed face, eyes wandering around the canva and brushes making soft, comforting sounds swiping on it. Obviously, Hyunjin wouldn't be himself if he didn't complain about it, trying to move your face the other way or throwing random shirt at your head so you don't stare at him so deeply, but the truth is, he liked the attention. He would always pretend it annoys him, but he wouldn't change it for the world. However, today it's you who needs his attention. The whole day you've been thinking about being in his warm embrace and watching some scary movies or comedies. But you know Hyunjin values his private space, especially when he's creating things. You couldn't help but frown, only patting his shoulder softly as a greeting, not to interrupt him. You go to your shared bedroom and slump yourself on the bed, sighing into the pillow. You play some podcast and let yourself sink into the softness of the covers. Not even half an hour passed when you started tossing and turning in desperate need of your boyfriend's presence. You quietly make your way to the livingroom, the only sound coming from it is Hyunjin's calm playlist playing from the phone. His eyes don't catch you standing in the door frame, too focused on his progressing artwork.
"Hyune," you mumble something barely above the whisper, taking small steps towards his sitting figure. You start playing with the ends of his hair, scared that any more physical touch might distract him at the moment.
"Hm?" his attention immediately goes to you and your heart melts a little. He once told you, you're the only one he would ever pause working for, and that's true, he could never ignore you.
"Can I stay here with you for a second? I miss you," your arms carefully wrap themselves around his shoulders and your chin rests on top of his head. Hyunjin leans into your touch slightly, short chuckle leaving his mouth.
"Do you want to try painting with me, buttercup?" he asks looking up at you and your eyes go wider, taken aback by his offer.
"I can? Won't I disturb you?" in response he just grabs your hands and guide you in front of him, pulling you onto his lap. His chin finds its place on your right shoulder and he takes your hand, forcing a brush in between your fingers. Hyunjin guides your hand to the canva and you try to stop it with your own strength. Before you can manage to say "I'll ruin it", or "I don't want to force you to anything" he just grabs your head with his other hand and turns it, pressing his soft lips onto yours, succesfully shushing you. You melt into the kiss instantly, finally getting your desired attention. "Shut up," is the only thing he says after pulling away, sending you the warmest smile you've ever seen and you feel like every worry bothering you since last week washes away. So you let him guide your hand as he pleases, after some time letting it go, grabbing his own brush and painting along with you, making your shared masterpiece. He helps you with every unfortunate stain of paint or wrongly mixed colors, laughing it off, nothing but love burning in his eyes when your face gets flustered or angry at your mistakes. Hyunjin praises your part a lot, paying his attention into the smallest details, clearly impressed by the amount of effort you put into the painting.
After all, it's now hung above your shared bed, exposed like a masterpiece it is, for everyone to see. And Hyunjin has never been more proud of any of his artworks, no matter how good they looked. Because this one he created with you, with the love of his life.

The Cat and Dog Game [Chapter 25]
Tumblr media
Genre: Romance, Fluff, Comedy
Pairing: Yunho x Reader (y/n)
Characters: Chef!Reader, RestaurantOwner!Yunho, MaitreD!Hongjoong, Waiter!Yeosang, Waiter!San, Waiter!Mingi, SousChef!Seonghwa, SousChef!Wooyoung, PrepChef!Jongho
Summary: Yunho's dream was to open and run his own restaurant. But he doesn't know anything when it comes to cooking. Until you came along and accepted the job, bringing with you a small crew. How will the black cat tame the energetic golden retriever?
Word count: 3.1K
It was cliche but you and Yunho decided to end the day on the ferris wheel. Both your fingers were still laced as you stood in line, it seemed to have become the new normal. Your other hand was wrapped around Yuyu.
"Watch your step." Yunho cautioned as you stepped into the cabin. The operator tipped his hat at the both of you with a smile and closed the door.
"Did you have fun today?" Yunho asked as you stared out into the night sky and the ground that was slowly becoming further away.
"Yeah..." You replied, an indication that you weren't 100% paying attention to what Yunho was asking.
"(y/n)?" Yunho called softly. You finally turned your head to look at him, your eyes meeting his. Although your face didn't show it, Yunho could see the swirling emotion in your eyes.
"I know we're taking things slow. But... you can tell me anything, okay? As much or as little as you want." He said, searching your eyes seriously.
"Okay." You chewed your bottom lip, turning your head to stare back out at the rest of the lit carnival.
"I used to love the carnival... My mom made sure to bring me every year and we would spend the whole day here as a family. When she got sick, we couldn't come but she promised me that we would come back. But then she just got sicker and sicker... So I never came back." You said, in a soft voice but Yunho heard you.
"The carnival used to bring me such happiness, reminding me of all the good memories I had of my family. But at some point, it started to remind me of my mother's sickness." You confessed.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have suggested coming here..." Yunho said, rubbing the back of your hand with his thumb.
"No... don't be sorry. You wouldn't have known, Yunho. I don't blame you, it's all on me." You faced him again, tears swimming in your eyes.
"Don't cry." He reached up to wipe a stray tear off your cheek.
"I'm glad we came, you've rekindled a love of mine for the carnival, one that I thought died along with my mother a long time ago. You've rewritten the happy memory." You gulped.
"I hope to always give you happy memories." Yunho said, pulling you to his chest to hug you tightly
"I'm sorry..." You said against him.
"Listen, there's nothing for you to be sorry about." Yunho hugged you tighter. He didn't know that your mother was sick and died. Looking back, the way you spoke of her with such fondness, he should have picked up on it a lot quicker.
"Yunho, there's so much more I want to tell you... But I'm scared that I scare you away." You told him honestly. Yunho pulled away, holding your cheeks in his hands, thumbs still wiping your tears.
"I won't be scared, (y/n). Not of you and who you are. Take your time, there's no rush. You don't have to tell me everything now."
"Thank you, Yunho." You whispered.
"We have all the time in the world. Thank you for sharing that with me, I know it musn't have been easy... I'm sure your mother was a lovely person." He smiled softly.
"She was. And I know that if I introduced you, she would have loved you." You laughed.
"Why? Tell me more about her." Yunho encouraged, showing his earnest and genuine curiosity to learn about her.
"She's the reason I got into cooking and that I love food. Seeing how happy she was in the kitchen, it inspired me to be happy cooking and to make others happy with my food. She loved people who could eat, that's why she loved feeding Seonghwa. I know she would have loved to cook for you." You said.
"So you've been cooking with her since you were young?"
"I guess so. Things were different for me as a kid, it wasn't a normal childhood. Being close to her, cooking with her, gave me a sense of normalcy." You explained.
"That's nice, I can imagine little you in the kitchen, learning how to cook." He giggled.
"I could barely see over the counter top. Always needed my step stool everywhere so I pushed it to where I needed it." You chuckled.
"If you're such a good cook now, I can only imagine how amazing her food must have been." Yunho said with a big grin. You nodded in agreement.
"Until today, even though I've worked in so many restaurants, she is still the best cook I've ever met. While she didn't do all those fancy elements, she knew how to make the best dishes with the ingredients we had." You said fondly at the memory.
For the rest of the ride, Yunho tucked you under his arm. You briefly told him stories of your mother, how she was as a person up until her passing. He listened intently, not interrupting you once at all.
"Sorry, today was meant to be happy and I really wanted to end off on a happy note." You sighed, frustrated with yourself.
"There's nothing for you to apologise for. I'm grateful to have learnt more about your mother and you." He smiled.
"Come on." Yunho held you as you stepped off the ride. You were shy, your face puffy and red after crying so he let you hide your face in his jacket as you headed to the exit.
Looking back at the carnival just as you exited, a small smile formed on your face.
"I'll be back." Your words were barely audible as you closed your eyes. Taking a deep breath, you walked away with Yunho.
During the stroll back to the car, you were a bit more relaxed since it was dark and no one could see your face after you cried. But Yunho still held your hand, a silent assurance that he was there. You appreciated that, considering how shaky you felt and Yunho being there prevented you from breaking down.
"Are you hungry?" Yunho asked as you both sat in the car, he turned on the heat slightly so you wouldn't be too cold from the breeze of the beach at night. You nodded your head.
"Drive thru?" He suggested. You nodded again and he smiled excitedly, driving to the nearest fast food drive thru.
"Fried chicken burger for me, please. Change the mayo to spicy aioli and more pickles." You ordered.
"Curly fries?" Yunho confirmed. You gave a thumbs up. As Yunho pulled up to the drive thru window, he lowered his window and gave the order to the staff.
"Just hand the bags over to me as they come." You said when Yunho went to the food window.
"Good evening. Thank you." Yunho received the bags of food and the drink cups, handing them to you as he paid. Once that was done, he drove to the parking lot so you could both eat. You laid napkins over the console so the grease wouldn't get everywhere.
"This is yours." You dug through the bag and handed him his double cheeseburger. You put yours on your lap. Although, you were surprised to find another cheeseburger inside that wasn't your order.
"Whose is this?" You asked.
"In case I get hungry later..." Yunho said, clearing his throat in embarrassment. You laughed and put the burger back.
"Just give me the fries." He mumbled, putting the fries on the middle console, over the napkins, so you could share it. You unwrapped your chicken burger and began eating.
"Here. Have a bite." You held your buger out to him. Yunho stared at you for a second before taking a bite.
"The sauce is good. But you eat way too many pickles." Yunho laughed as he chewed.
"Hater." You scoffed, eating a fry.
"Hey! You were the one that taught me about how important it is to balance flavours in food, that whole flavour triangle thing." Yunho protested with a whine. You were surprised he remembered that, you had just mentioned it in passing during one of your ramblings as you were cooking.
"You remember that?" You asked.
"Yeah, of course. I remember a lot of things, especially the things that you say." He blinked as if it was the most obvious thing. You pursed your lips, looking away in embarrassment.
"Eat your sandwich." You mumbled. Yunho laughed, leaning over so he could tap your temple with her forehead.
"Yes, ma'am." He continued eating, a cheeky smile on his face. Doing this with Yunho, it was that normalcy you used to seek as a kid.
"So the others and I were discussing, we've been seeing other restaurants bring in customers by doing a theme night. But instead of outwardly themes, we were thinking food themes." You said.
"Food themes? Like pasta night?" Yunho tilted his head.
"Yeah. Pasta night, dessert night, that sort of thing. Or it can go by countries like Japanese night, Indian night." You nodded.
"That sounds interesting. It would make for good marketing. We should discuss it with the rest tomorrow after the morning shift. See what Yeosang and the others can come up with." He smiled. Yeosang and Mingi managed the restaurant's online accounts.
"But I hope doing that doesn't add on to the workload for you guys. You already have a lot to do considering how small the team is." Yunho quickly added.
"It won't, don't worry. Contrary, it might make things easier since we're centering around a theme." You assured.
After you both finished your food and cleared up, throwing the trash at a nearby trash bin, Yunho drove you home. Even if you didn't invite him into the house, he insisted on walking you to your door.
"Goodnight, (y/n). I'll see you tomorrow." Yunho wished. You nodded with a hum.
"Thank you for being patient with me." You squeezed his hand.
"There's no need to thank me, (y/n). Like I said, we have all the time in the world. There's no rush. I'd rather wait than make you feel pressured." He smiled softly as he looked down at you.
"You're too nice." You let out a small laugh.
"That's what you do for the person you like." He confessed. You looked up at him, meeting his eyes. Yunho suddenly leaned down, pressing a kiss to your forehead, wrapping his arms around you. His gesture made you close your eyes too, savouring his close proximity. You swore your heart almost jumped out of your chest.
"Goodnight, Yunho." You smiled when you pulled away. Yunho nodded, reaching out to pat Yuyu's head. He waited for you to enter the house before walking away.
Once again, Yunho told you that he liked you. There was no doubt that you liked him too. But your fears made you hesitate. It wasn't that you didn't trust him, your heart just wanted to protect itself.
"(y/n). You're back." You weren't expecting to see Seonghwa emerge from the hallway.
"Oh, you're still here. I thought you went home after I left." You said, removing your shoes and putting your bag aside.
"I did. But then I remembered that Yunho was bringing you to a carnival and came back to wait for you. Wanted to make sure you were okay." He said.
"I'm fine, Hwa. Don't worry." You smiled tiredly, knowing he was trying to approach the subject cautiously.
"I didn't tell him everything but since he already knew that she passed away, I told him more about my mother and my memories of the carnival. How she couldn't take me because she got sick and how it became a place I grew to hate. " You looked at him, slumping onto the couch.
"And?"
"Hwa, it's Yunho. Of course he was nice and understanding about it. Comforted me and asked me more about my mom so he could get to know her through my memories." You sighed.
"Mmm, Yunho would be nice about it. How about you? Did you feel better after telling him?" He sat beside you.
"I think so. It was scary, not that I don't trust him or anything. I don't know." You couldn't really form the words to explain what you felt.
"You're scared of being vulnerable around him. That starting to share yourself with him means you're showing everything of you." Seonghwa said. You nodded your head.
"It's okay." He sat up, wrapping his arms around you and cradling you against his chest like you were a fragile baby bird.
"And I feel bad that he's so patient with me, everything is happening on my terms and it makes me feel so selfish. He knows all the right words to say to make me feel better but I can't do the same with him. I have to force myself to ignore his wants." You buried your face in Seonghwa's chest.
"Hey, don't say that. I know and I'm sure Yunho knows too that you're trying your best. You're already doing so much, letting him into your space. Tonight was progress." Seonghwa stroked your head.
"He made me love a carnival again. Last time, all it did was remind me of my mom. Now, a carnival reminds me of the time I spent with him."
"That's great, sweetheart." He smiled.
"Oh by the way, this is Yuyu." You pulled away from hug, settling the golden retriever stuffed toy on your lap. Seonghwa raised an eyebrow, staring at you then the stuffed dog.
"Yuyu?"
"It reminds you of Yunho, no? That golden retriever like behaviour he has." You chuckled. Seonghwa laughed, nodding his head. He knew what you were referring to. Yunho's big energy and mannerisms were like a big, goofy dog.
"Seems like when I go out with him, I come back with a new animal." You noticed, remembering how you got Yunie, the manatee, from the aquarium on your first date.
"Maybe it's how he shows his affection. To have a memory from each date." He patted your head.
"Yeah, soon my bed isn't going to have enough space for you to sleep." You mocked, sticking your tongue out at him.
"I can just shove them to the floor." He shrugged.
"Don't you dare!" You gasped. You put your hands over Yuyu's floppy ears, as if he could hear, understand and comprehend Seonghwa's words. Seonghwa rolled his eyes at your childish actions.
"Alright, go to bed." Seonghwa patted your hip lovingly. You went to take a quick shower.
While you showered, Seonghwa made you and himself tea to wind down for the night. He placed your cup on your nightstand so you could have it. As he was about to get into bed to wait for you, he saw the manatee and golden retriever laying on his side of the bed. He scoffed and pushed them to your side.
"Ah, that feels so much better." You said, stepping out of the shower as you rubbed a towel in your wet hair. Sitting down at your vanity, you did your skincare and dried your hair.
"So, I spoke to Yunho about doing food themed nights at the restaurant." You started.
"Oh, you did? What did he say?" He lifted his head in interest.
"He says it could be good to market to new customers. We'll discuss it tomorrow with Yeosang and the others since they're in charge of the marketing stuff." You informed.
"That's promising, at least he's open to it. We should start coming up with theme ideas to propose." Seonghwa replied.
"Yeah, either by food category or countries. It would be fun and challenging for us." You giggled.
"Glad you're excited, sweetheart." He chuckled. You hummed, knowing what Seonghwa meant. Usually, by now, you would have become 'bored' of where you were working at and begin to look for a new kitchen with a new concept.
"You know Yunho won't expect you to stay, no matter what your relationship is." Seonghwa reminded as you climbed into bed, keeping Yunie and Yuyu by your side.
"I know. I'm just not bored yet." You said, taking your mug in your hands and sipping the tea.
"Plus the environment is good. Not just for me but for all of you too. There's no reason to leave yet." You shrugged.
"Hwa?" You called out. He hummed in acknowledgement, still scrolling on his phone.
"I miss my mom." You said softly. Seonghwa looked at you, seeing you smile with tears in your eyes, trying your best to preventing them from falling. He put his phone aside and hugged you tightly.
"I know, sweetheart." He whispered.
"After so many years, it still hurts to think about her." You cried. Seonghwa hummed again, your mother's passing was just a wound that would never close. And this was one of the instances where he didn't know how to comfort you. Because he knew nothing he said would bring her back to you.
Yunho entered his home, putting his keys in the bowl and removing his jacket, throwing it over the back of his sofa. He scratched his head, letting out a long sigh.
"There's so much more I want to tell you... But I'm scared that I scare you away."
Your words played repeatedly in his head. Yunho wasn't scared of you but he felt scared for you and what you possibly could be dealing with on your own. Maybe that's why Seonghwa is so protective of you.
"What else is there?" He wanted to know your fears and protect you from them, to tell you that you can depend on him.
But he knew he couldn't push you, it might make you distance yourself even more.
'Hey, I'm home. Thanks again for today, I had a lot of fun. I'll see you tomorrow. Goodnight, sweet dreams. - Yunho'
After dropping you a text, he went to take a shower. He knew it was good progress, of you opening up to him and sharing with him about your late mother. You were slowly accepting Yunho into your world. He'll wait for as long as you need him to.
"You've rewritten the happy memory."
"Rewrite the memories..." Yunho said softly. Now he was more determined than ever to make sure all the memories he gives you are the good, happy ones. He'll rewrite as many memories as he can.

I needed to get this out 'cause I've been chewing on it for a few days now but couldn't word so hot.
So have a snippet of the self indulgent project
You looked down at the man sitting on your couch, "d'you want me to bring this up now or when your friends leave?"
His brow furrows, "what's it about?"
"You told me if you forgot to-"
"Oh fuckin hell-"
"- do the one thing you had on your to-do list before you left for me to badger you."
A long, begrudging sigh, "yes."
"And did you do it."
"No."
"Okay. Do you want to do this now or later?"
He leaned back, putting his drink down and crossing his arms, "do your worst."
You nod, nudging a leg so he stopped manspreading enough for you to sit just on the edge of his knees, ignoring how his brow raised as you put your hands on his shoulders, "you acknowledge that if you stand up to try to walk away from this I'll fall and crack my head open on the coffee table, yes? Making a giant mess you'd have to clean up? If not hide a body," he gives a grunt you take for assent, "good. Do you accept the terms and conditions?"
"'M waitin' doll."
"Alright, as you wish," you move one hand from his shoulder to cup his cheek, making direct eye contact as you begin, "you have value beyond what you can do for other people or your country, people legitimately enjoy being around you."
You watch in glee as his eyes widen, realizing what exactly he just let himself get roped into, "wait-"
You don't let the mirth show on your face as you continue with a matter-of-fact tone, "you have more patience than you let people think and that's a commendable skill- no it is not just a work requirement do not try that excuse with me. That's better. You listen well- no not just to orders close your mouth there's no deflecting from this- you actually listen not just hearing. You listen to me ramble about the dumbest shit. You have excellent suggestions and a good perspective when someone needs to take a step back. Despite what you may think, if you didn't have redeeming qualities outside of your job the FC wouldn't like you. They love you- don't even try to deny it- they're all excited for you to bring Fish back around. You're funny and I love exchanging the worst jokes known to man and several known only to dolphin with you. Need I say more?"
"Rather you didn't."
"For that I'm adding you have beautiful eyes and a wonderful ass," and on that note you patted his cheek and slid off his lap to stand up, "anyway per your request it's still on your list, I did run out and pick up more of your bodywash and got you a new shampoo and conditioner. They're all separate this time it's great you should try it. While you figure out how that works I'm gonna toss your biohazard of a mission outfit into the wash. If I'm not back in 10 send for a priest they probably gained sentience and ate me. I expect you to avenge me if that's the case."

I have a request for Velvet Heart.
I'd like to know how or why things changed for Jungkook, what happened in the past that brought him so close to madness.
A/N: Obviously warning for Yandere content, psychological horror, mental illness. Don't read if that makes you uncomfortable, I'm not responsible for what you consume.
Tumblr media
Jungkook has always been a little.. vulnerable, mentally. He's easily stressed, and stress makes him act irrationally sometimes- but no one ever thought it would become an issue, down the line.
He's just soft. It'll be fine when he grows older.
Wrong. It just got worse.
So much so that after yet another incident of someone finding out his phone number and mass calling him, he's brushed off as no issue at all. That he's old enough to deal with this on his own now- 'You're 21 now, that's an adult, Jungkook. And adults have to make their own decisions.'
Suddenly. Huh?
Suddenly he's supposed to be independent.
After years and years of being babied and belittled and having everything chewed up for him so he wouldn't have to use his teeth for anything. Suddenly he's supposed to hunt down his own food and provide for himself.
And it's when he realizes it, in the darkness of his small private apartment he got scolded for buying last year.
He's nothing but a product. No one actually cares for him- only for what he represents. A brand. A puppet. Something to buy. Nothing to love.
He's told to just ignore it, use another phone or request another number and just move on from it. But how can he move on if there's people out there who call him nothing but a dog for simply missing a comment on a livestream? He can't just play after everyone's tune, there's too much music at this point, beats bleeding into one another so much so that he can't find a spot to place his feet any longer.
He keeps tripping, and everyone blames him for it.
They've even taken his phone away from him entirely, years back. Now they're doing different things to control him. Tell him to concentrate, loose weight, gain it back, loose it again. Get surgery, don't get it, or rather get it but hide it. Promote this, just to get blamed if the brand does something stupid, stop promoting it just to get called a coward.
Die, but stay alive, but also die, but also keep going. What's going on?
Left?
Right?
Is there a middle to choose instead?
He's got no voice. He sings, loudly so, stable as ever- but his voice doesn't belong to himself. Is what's wanted, it's what fits the concept, just like the rest of him.
Interchangeable. Morphing, constantly.
One day he's the boyfriend, next he is the brother, then he's the boy next door, just to become the sexiest crush all the girls want. What is he?
Who is he?
He hasn't called back the company, has locked his doors and shut the blinds. He doesn't want to do this any longer, this is all just insanity, doesn't anyone see this? Is everyone just so obsessed with wealth that they don't care about being honest?
He's walking alongside Han River, hood deep over his head, facemask hiding what's exposed, clothes dark. He doesn't want to be known, by anyone, ever again. But even if he moved to the other end of the world, starting again as a no-name is a luxury he'll never be granted.
Someone's sitting on the ground, clothes wetly sticking to the skin. Long hair. A girl? He's not sure.
You're moving, barely so, shivering, body trembling in the cold temperature. He lends you his jacket, eyes wide open as they look at yours. You're like a scared little animal, nothing behind those eyes that's coherent, but most importantly-
there's no recognition.
Even when he pulls his mask down a little to test it- you don't seem to know who he is. You don't talk at all, even when asked for your name.
You just cry, scared, terrified, leaning closer to him when he tries to get up.
Is that affection? Or maybe what affection could feel like?
If so, this is affection without any thought behind it. Nothing to gain. Nothing to receive. You just want to be close to him. To him.
Not to him.
It's so wrong. God it's so wrong, it makes him nauseous, makes him panic a little when he realizes that he somehow managed to get you into his home, where you now sleep in his bed, freshly showered, arms wrapped in bandages, hair dried, dressed in his softest clothes, safely tucked beneath the covers.
He should call the cops. But then he'd be blamed, right? They'll think he's insane, a creep, a criminal- and when it get's out, he's a wanted man, even if he somehow doesn't get put into jail.
No. He can't do that.
He can't have that.
But he can have you.
And he wants to have you.
Someone who wants him.
And not the version of him staring back at him from the billboard across the street.
You're just what he needs.
And he'll become all that you'll need in return.

Airheaded S/O Headcannons #5 Kakashi (Naruto)
Tumblr media
He had known about you since he was a child.
And at that time he absolutely hated you
How could someone so careless and utterly dimwitted be a shinobi?
You were constantly fumbling missions
You were never on time (actually getting lost on the way there)
And you could never take hints
It was a miracle you never died.
But as he grew older and everything with the 3rd Shinobi War, he sort of forgot about you.
He wouldn't run into you again until after he started teaching Team 7.
Naruto had pointed out a new squad's unusual training methods.
"Look at those weirdos! They're balancing an egg on their finger! And I thought you were weird Kakashi-Sensei. Ha! Their teacher must be insane!"
The boy wasn't wrong, it was odd, but that's more of a thought he should've kept to himself.
Especially since the squad heard him
One of them lost focus and dropped their egg.
The other gave up in favor of chewing Naruto out.
And the last kept their cool.
It was complete chaos.
"How dare you insult our sensei! I'll have you know they're one of the strongest Shinobi the Leaf has!"
"Yeah right! If they're so great why haven't I heard of them!?!"
"I haven't even told you their name yet you loudmouth!"
Kakashi was about the intervene, (trying not to cause a bigger scene) when the boy arguing with Naruto was hoisted up by a familiar figure.
"Ryuuuu~You know better than to pick a fight."
The boy lost all the fight in him and hung his head in shame.
"I know, but he was disrespecting your training."
And then Kakashi saw you in full.
That dimwitted kid he assumed would become nothing, was right in front of him.
You'd become a teacher and a Jonin.
And you still had that overly dopey look.
"Then you'll just have to prove him wrong, won't you?"
And it seems you actually matured.
He decided now would be the best time to re-indroduce himself.
He was curious to know just how the hell you got where you were.
"Y/n, long time no see."
And you gave him the blankest stare he's ever received in his life.
He felt a little self-conscious then because what if you had held a grudge for the way he treated you as a kid.
"I'm sorry??? Who are you???"
You didn't remember him??????
"Kakashi. We were acquaintances when we were kids. You were in Gai's squad right?"
Usually when people heard his name, it was immediate recognition.
But you continued to give him a blank stare for another two minutes before the dots finally connected.
"Oh...Ohhhhhh!"
Thanks goodness
"You're Gai's rival! The one he could never beat! How cool I get to meet you in the flesh!"
Kakashi was distraught because not only did you not remember him, but you only recalled him from Gai's stories.
But maybe it was a good thing you didn't remember him.
He could start fresh
And it would be nice to have someone to talk to that didn't constantly challenge him.
So he keeps finding ways to bump into you, just to take a peak inside that mind of yours
Realizes that no, you haven't outgrown your stupidity.
And it's not an act like his carefree facade
You still trip over nothing
You still have trouble deciphering secret documents
And you still can't find your way to meeting areas.
But unlike Kakashi's 'An old lady needed help' excuse, you just right out and say you got lost
And it catches him off guard everytime.
Your students adore you and after teaming up with your squad, he understands why
Whenever Naruto and Sasuke fight, he let's them sort it out themselves.
When your students fight, you make them perform such an outrageous act, that they forget what they're arguing about.
Instead of trying to one up each other over the smallest of mistakes, they actually work together because 'the faster we finish the mission, the more time we'll have to pick out a place to celebrate.'
But the one thing he still doesn't understand is how you became a Jonin.
Sure you were a great teacher, but you were still incredibly careless.
And then he finally sees your monster strength after the two of you had been ambushed on mission.
He didn't even have time to awaken his sharingan before you launched into action
There was no special jutusu's, no chakra based attacks, and no Kekkei genkai.
Just you downing enemy after enemy with Taijutsu
And he was so surprised, because you, the knuckle head idiot who even Obito could outsmart, had defeated about 30 Shinobi in less than 5 minutes
He understands clearly now how you got as far as you did
And it makes him feel a little guilty inside for the way he judged you
He seeks you out more frequently from then on, wanting to see what else you've been holding back.
But then he starts to notice the little things about you
Like how your socks are always mismatching
How when you can't read an important document, you have a student of yours read it out for you. (Those are secret for a reason dummy)
Or how whenever you see him, your eyes seem to light up a little more.
And goddamnit he's got a crush
He won't tell you for a long time
But there will be hints
He'll hold your hand in crowds because he's worried you'll wander off and get swept away
He'll request more missions with you even if it's a one man job
He'll take off his mask around you, knowing you won't make a big deal.
He'll be even later to meeting spots because he knows you got lost on the way and he wants to be the one to lead you there.
He doesn't tell you about his feelings for the longest time because he doesn't think he could take it if something happened to you.
If he let you into his life just to be taken away like everyone else.
But time and time again you prove your strength to him
And little by little his walls break down.
He's a sucker for romance as proven by his taste in books (not the Icha Icha novels 😭😭😭) so he'll try to confess using the traditional methods.
(we've got another one fellas)
Dinner dates, bringing you flowers, trying to woo you with his strength
But you never get the idea.
Not until he's ranting to Gai, the only other person closest to you, about his failures. Because at this point, he would take any help given.
He was already straining himself by being this forward, not used to being forced to confront his emotions.
"I just don't know what it's gonna take for Y/n to understand I like them."
And Gai sees you peaking over Kakashi's shoulder, with the other male not noticing you. And he gets a brilliant idea
"You like them?"
"You know what I mean."
"I don't believe I do rival. To understand one's own emotions, they must verbalize it to the world."
The copy ninja had never been so flustered.
Verbalize his feelings?
Not a chance
It was just too embarrassing.
But Gai's plan wasn't for Kakashi to take the bait. It was for you. And take the bait you did.
"I love you!" So proud and happy and everything pure.
And Kakashi jumped because he was completely unprepared for it.
He turns to face you red in the face, while you're beaming up at him.
No embarrassment.
No regret
Just you with nothing going on up top
Head empty
And he's so smitten he pulls you into a hug.
Not a kiss, his heart's not strong enough for that yet. It's something he'll need to build up on.
He's a total dork when it comes to romance so all his nicknames for you are the lovey-dovey ones
Calls you love, honey, sweetheart, baby, dear, darling
He introduces you to his ninken and they straight up prefer you over him. You always bring over treats for them and have the energy to play with them.
Kakashi doesn't get jealous, but he gets very insecure
When other women or men flirt with you, you don't realize it. But Kakashi does and he thinks you might prefer the advances of the other party more than him.
But then you're always walking away from the other person because you saw him start to sulk.
You find him and squish his cheeks going-
"Why are you sad. C'mon and smile for me my pretty boy."
And he's so 😍😍😍 because you called him pretty.
And then he's blushing real hard because you also called him yours.
It always gets him to forget about the other person and cement the idea that you chose him
He's also fiercely protective of you.
Yes you're strong and can handle yourself, but there's always a possibility you could be killed.
And that's enough of a reason for him to never let you take on a mission by yourself
If the wrong person were to use your stupidity to their advantage.......
You're never allowed to fight by yourself
Please don't go without supervision
He doesn't want to lose you 🥺🥺🥺

The Daughter's Return: Stories from the Vault
Some old stories from when you were a kid! This is LONG but its eight short stories from various ages of the readers life!

Magic - Age 5
You had gotten hopelessly lost. You had told Marco you knew your way back to the ship, and you had stormed off. He was taking too long. And now you weren’t sure which way to turn. You had a great sense of direction at sea, but it didn’t seem to be the same on land.
Some men were talking nearby. They looked a little rough, but that never deterred your father from talking to people, and it wouldn't deter you. “Excuse me,” you said, and the men immediately stopped talking. “I think I’m lost.”
“Lost, huh?” The man with a scar on his cheek chuckled. “Too bad, kid. We’re busy.”
“But-”
“Hang on, Tank,” the man without teeth said. “I know her from somewhere.”
The two exchanged glances, and then crouched down to your level. You knew they would help if you asked.
“Where you gotta get to, little girl?” Tank asked.
“The docks,” you explained. “My dad has a ship.”
Both of their eyes got wide, and they looked at each other once again.
“Say kid, what’s your dad's name?” Tank licked his lips. “Wouldn’t happen to be Whitebeard, would it?”
“That’s it!” you cried out. “You know him?”
“Yeah,” the other man said. “We’re good friends. In fact, we were just about to give him this too.”
The man held up a strange-looking fruit. You weren’t sure what your father would do with a fruit. There were plenty of normal fruits on the ship already. Maybe it was special. Maybe it was magical. It certainly looked magical.
“Let’s go, kid,” Tank said. He grabbed your hand and gripped it firmly. It was almost painful, but you didn’t complain. You didn’t want to be in more trouble.
The three of you walked for a long time, and you couldn’t help but feel like you were going further into the island. You were now in the middle of the jungle, and you guessed that the men were lost now too. You should’ve stuck with Marco. This was getting complicated.
“Listen Sunny, I don’t got a good feeling about this,” Tank mumbled, his eyes on you.
“What are you talking about? Listen, the N-”
“Shush! Not around the kid! She’s worth 10 million berries for a reason!”
“Hey kid,” Sunny said looking at you. “You stand right here and don’t move. We’ll be right back.”
He placed the fruit on a log nearby, and the two of them walked a couple of yards away to speak privately.
You knew you should spend your time listening in on their conversation, but you couldn’t stop staring at the black fruit in front of you. It was like it was alive, the undertones of the fruit shifting in color from yellow to orange to red, and then back again. It had to be magical.
You weren’t sure how you ended up beside it, or how it ended up in your hands. You were mesmerized by it. It would make a good gift for your father, but you wanted nothing more than to try it yourself first. Just a small piece. It wouldn’t even be noticeable. You closed your eyes and took a small bite.
It took everything you had not to gag. This was a terrible gift. It tasted horrible. You chewed, and then swallowed, and finally began coughing from the horrid taste of it. You weren’t sure what you were expecting, but it wasn’t this.
“Hey! What the hell are you-” Sunny’s eyes got wide, and you heard him scream out a string of curses.
“Spit it out, you devil!” Tank screamed, running at you. “We can’t sell that to the Navy if you eat it!”
The Navy? No, this fruit was supposed to be going to your father. They had told you that.
Sunny got to you first, and he slapped you hard across the face. Your skin stung, and you could feel tears rising in your eyes. But you held onto the strange fruit. You refused to let it go now. It was your magic fruit.
“You little bitch!” Sunny screamed, shaking you like a rag doll. “You ruined everything! We were going to make a fortune off of that!”
“Sunny, relax,” Tank reasoned. “We can still turn the kid in. The Navy will give us more since she’s got powers now.”
“The Navy?” You were confused. “You were supposed to take me to my dad.”
“We hunt pirates. Which is what you are,” Sunny sneered. “You’re going straight to Naval Headquarters, kid. They’ll probably kill you the moment you arrive.”
“No.” You could feel tears rising, and you took a step back, trying to get away from them. “No. I want to go to my dad.”
“Get her, Tank.”
Tank’s large arms reached for you, and you squeezed your eyes shut. You let out a loud shriek, hoping to attract someone-anyone-who might help. You held your magic fruit tight and felt a strange pull in your stomach, but you refused to open your eyes.
You couldn’t hear Tank and Sunny anymore, or anything for that matter. Everything seemed eerily quiet, even though you were in the middle of the forest.
When you finally opened your eyes, it looked like a bomb had gone off around you. You were standing in a hardened lava flow that stretched out at least 100 yards on every side of you. There were no signs of trees or grass, only blackened volcanic rock.
You heard the familiar flap of wings above you, and Marco dropped down in front of you.
“What’s wrong?” he asked, checking your body for any sign of injury. You flinched when he touched your cheek, still sore from Sunny’s slap. “Who did this to you?”
“Nobody,” you said, tears welling in your eyes. You couldn’t let him know you had gotten lost. You couldn’t let him know you had gotten hurt.
His eyes scanned the surrounding area, clearly in disbelief at the power emitted. “Who did this?”
“I don’t know.” You wiped at your eyes. Your throat hurt from screaming so much.
Suddenly Marco’s entire body got tense, and he pulled your magical fruit out from your hands, examining it.
“It’s for dad.” You sniffled. “That’s what the guys said.”
“What guys?” His eyes found the small bite you had taken, and they grew wide. “Did you eat this?”
You took a step back from him, afraid he might hit you too. Marco had never hit you before, but the fruit seemed to make people do crazy things.
“No,” you lied, trying your hardest not to cower.
“Y/N. Did you eat this?!” He shoved the fruit in your face, pointing to the tiny bite you had taken.
“I’m sorry,” you sobbed, falling to your knees. “Please don’t hit me. I’m sorry.”
“Hey, it’s okay.” Marco’s voice was instantly soft again, making you cry even more. “I’ve got you, kid. You’re safe.”
“It looked so good,” you cried. You let him pick you up, and you cried into his shoulder. “But it was so yucky.”
“It’s okay,” he soothed, rubbing your back. “They’re not very yummy, I know.”
“I want to go home.” You wrapped your arms around his neck, and he took flight into the sky, holding you and your magic fruit tightly.
You must’ve fallen asleep mid-flight, because when you woke up, Marco was still holding you, but you were now on a boat. Home.
“What kind of fruit?” Your father whispered.
“Some kind with lava properties, it appears. There was a huge explosion, and I found her surrounded by hundreds of feet of cooled lava on all sides.”
“Hundreds?” Your father sounded skeptical.
“I can take you back to the place I found her, if you’d like to see.”
The thought of going back to Tank and Sunny made you let out an involuntary whimper, and you squeezed Marco’s neck. “Please don’t make me go back to the bad men. I won’t leave your side again, Marco. Promise.”
“The bad men?” Your father asked.
“Can you tell us about them?” Marco asked, prying you from him and setting you on the ground.
“They said they were bringing me and the fruit back to you,” you explained. “But when I ate the magic fruit, they got really mad at me and then they disappeared.”
“Disappeared?” your father asked, “Disappeared how?”
“I dunno. I closed my eyes and screamed and when I opened them they were gone.”
Your father gave Marco a quick glance of concern, and then turned his attention back to you.
“I’m just glad you’re safe, punk.” You father stretched out his hands and you ran to him, clamoring up onto his lap.
“You’re not mad?” you asked, looking up at him with big, watery eyes. “Even though I ate your fruit?”
“It’s your fruit now.” Your father laughed. “What’s it called?”
“The Vulcan-Vulcan fruit,” you said instantly, though you weren’t sure how you knew it. “Am I magic now like you and Marco?”
Your father gave you a big grin, pulling you in for a tight hug. “You sure are! But we're going to have to teach you how to use that magic, okay?”
“Okay!”

Trouble - Age 7
Marco pulled open the doors to the supply closet, and bent his head down to make eye contact with you.
“Whatcha doin' in here, kid?” he asked, seeing the guilt written all across your face.
“Hiding.”
He raised an eyebrow. “Why?”
“I’m gonna be in trouble.”
He smirked. So you had caused that fire at the base of the main mast. “Mind if I join you?”
You shook your head, and he climbed in next to you and shut the cabinet door behind him. The two of you sat there in the dark, him waiting for you to speak.
“I didn’t mean to,” you finally whispered. “I just got mad.”
“What are we supposed to do when people make us mad?”
“They were laughing at me. Calling me princess and making fun of me. I tried to ignore them, Marco. I promise I did try!”
“They’re not trying to be mean,” Marco explained, but you shook your head.
“They were being mean! They weren’t being funny-mean like you or Thatch or Izou! They were just being mean!” You could feel the magma under your skin start to churn, making it feel like a thousand bugs were crawling across your skin. A slight glow came from you as you shifted in discomfort, illuminating the closet.
“Deep breaths. I don’t want this stuff to catch on fire too.”
You let out a small sob and buried your head in your knees. “Now you’re being mean! Just leave me alone!”
“I’m just teasing,” Marco said, putting his hand on your shoulder. He sucked in a breath at the heat you were emitting, but he didn’t remove his hand.
“I hate this power,” you cried. “I can’t control it! It’s stupid and it just keeps hurting people!”
“Breathe with me,” Marco said. You heard him take a deep breath in, and you followed his lead. When he breathed out, you did. When he breathed in, you did.
After a few minutes, you could feel your body starting to relax, the magma beneath your skin stilling, and peace returning once again.
“Can I just give this power back?” you asked. “It’s been two years and I can’t figure it out. I’m failing.”
“You’re not failing,” Marco said, wrapping his arm around your shoulder. “You’re learning.”

Nap - Age 8
You preferred to sleep in your father’s study during the day. Marco always made you take a nap, but you didn’t really need naps anymore. You were getting too old for that.
But, when you were “asleep” in your father’s study, sometimes you got to hear top secret reports. Things only the reporter and Pops knew about. And you, but nobody knew that. So you didn’t mind nap time too much, as long as you got to be in his office.
Today had been boring, though. No reports at all. Just your father working quietly at his desk, the scratch of pen against paper slowly lulling you to sleep.
And then the door creaked open.
“Pops,” a man whispered. “We found it.”
Your father’s pen stopped moving, and your ears perked up as you laid against the cot in the back of his office.
“Found what?” Your father asked.
“The fruit.”
“Is it safe?”
The man sighed, coming into the room and taking a seat at the desk. “It’s with a kid.”
Your father paused, and you could sense him trying to figure out if you were asleep or not. You steadied your breathing and your heart rate as best you could, keeping your entire body still.
You heard him shift back in his chair, his attention turned to the crewmate in front of him. “A kid?”
“He just started sailing in the North Blue. Just a teenager. Trafalgar Law.”
“How the hell did a kid get his hands on a fruit like that? And where in the North Blue?”
“We believe he’s from Flevance.”
“Flevance!?” Your father’s voice was louder from disbelief, causing you to flinch. He lowered it again instantly, aware of your presence and not wanting to wake you. “So he’s a walking corpse. It's just a matter of time.”
“That’s the thing, sir. We have reason to believe he’s been cured.”
“With immortality? That’s not how the Ope-Ope fruit works. Someone else has to-”
“We’ve confirmed he’s the one in possession of the Ope-Ope ability. We believe he used it to cure himself.”
“Incredible,” your father breathed out. “He was just a kid when it went missing. He was that knowledgeable at such a young age?”
“It appears that way. But all files about Flevance have been destroyed, so there’s no record of his family.”
“I see.” Your father hummed, trying to weigh a decision. “Have we sent people to him? To invite him to join us?”
“He didn’t seem interested.”
“But he’s not hostile?”
“Unclear,” the man said. “We have reports that he used to be a part of the Donquixote Family, but that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore.”
“Any idea what caused the split?”
“No,” the man said. “But reports say Trafalgar disappeared the same time another member did. Code name Corazon.”
“Damn that Doflamingo,” your father cursed. “He makes a mess wherever he goes.”
“What should we do, Pops? Want us to bring him in anyway?”
“No,” he said immediately. “Leave him alone. Seems like that kid has been through enough. Just keep tabs on him, and let me know when he enters the Grand Line.”
“Sure thing. You sure that’s all you want to do? The Ope-Ope fruit-”
“Belongs to Trafalgar. He decides what to do with it. We should respect that.”
“Alright.” You heard the door creak open and shut once again.
“You are never to tell anyone what you just heard.” Your father’s voice was dangerously serious; so much that it caused the hairs to stand up on your neck. “Never. Is that understood?”
“Yes sir,” you whispered, squeezing your eyes shut tighter.
“Good.” He went back to writing.
You tried to sleep, but your mind couldn’t stop wandering to the boy in the North Blue. You wondered if he was nice. You wondered if you’d ever meet him. You hoped your paths would cross some way one day.

Stargazing - Age 9
“Marco!”
“I’m busy tonight.” The first division ruffled your hair playfully. “It’s late anyway, you should go to sleep.”
“But-!”
“Go on! It’s going to get crazy here in a bit anyway,” Marco said. “You know how Pops feels about you being out during party nights.”
“That’s not fair,” you pouted. “I’m still part of the crew. I should be able to party.”
“Maybe when you’re in double digits,” Marco jested.
“Really?!”
“Go!”
Thatch peeked his head in the door. “How about you come hang with me, squirt?”
You stuck your tongue out at him. “I’m not a squirt!”
“Of course. How could I forget?” He gave you a deep bow. “Your majesty.”
You giggled at his actions, already forgetting about Marco. “Take me to the kitchen, Mister Knight!”
“Gladly.” He scooped you up and dangled you upside down, causing you to squeal in delight.
“No, Thatch! Not like that!” you giggled, squirming in his grasp.
“Sorry madam, I can’t seem to hear you,” he said, shaking you and causing you to squeal even louder. “You said just like that?”
You erupted into another round of squeals and giggles, and he escorted you from the room to the kitchen upside down. When you arrived at the kitchen, he easily tossed you into the air and set you on the seat in front of the stove. “What would you like, O’ Princess of the Seas?”
It’s the name that had been coined for you across the Grand Line ever since your bounty shot up to 200 million. Daughter of Whitebeard: Princess of the Seas. You had a love/hate relationship with it, but when the commanders said it, you thought it sounded quite nice.
“Ice cream!” you called, a glint in your eye.
“Aw, come on!” Thatch complained. “You know you can’t have that this late.”
You gave him the biggest pouty face and sweetest doe eyes you could muster. “Just this time?”
He let out a chuckle and shook his head. “You’re devious, kid. Devious.” Bending down, he pulled out two bowls and an ice cream scooper. You immediately dropped the act, a huge smile appearing across your face.
“Can we do chocolate?” you asked hopefully.
“Might as well,” Thatch sighed, opening the freezer. “You better eat all the vegetables I give you tomorrow.”
“I’ll help you make them, if you want!” You were bouncing up and down in your seat in anticipation.
Thatch groaned at your excitement. “I’m gonna pay for this, I can tell.” Regardless, he scooped out two heaping scoops for you, and two for him.
He slid the bowl across to you, and you immediately dug in. He watched you in humor for a few bites, and then began eating his own. “How’s your training coming?”
“I’ve almost got the hang of it!” you said proudly. “I can practice small stuff on the ship now.”
Thatch laughed. “You’re not a fire hazard anymore?”
You smiled at his half-joke. “Only sometimes.”
“Good to hear.” He glanced down at your already empty bowl and smiled, impressed with your eating skills. “Let’s get you to bed.”
“Wait!” You threw your hands up, begging him to stop. “Can’t we do something else? Please Uncle Thatch?”
It was a desperate attempt, you knew that. But the commanders always melted when you called them uncle. It was the easiest trick in the book, yet they bent to it every time.
You could see a slight rose color dust across Thatch’s cheeks, and you knew you had succeeded.
“Fine, fine! Come on, I think tonight will be a good night.”
“A good night for what?” you asked, but he just picked you up and set you on his strong, broad shoulders, silently carrying you out onto the deck.
It was loud outside. You had to cover your ears from all the music and the screaming. But Thatch didn’t head toward the party. He turned and the two of you snuck up the stairs to the back of the ship.
It was significantly quieter back here, like someone had placed a wall between you all and the party. He set you down at the very back of the boat, and laid down next to you.
“What are you doing?” you stood over him, pouting downward.
Thatch just laughed. “You’re looking the wrong way, kid.” He pointed to the sky. “Look up.”
You followed his finger upward, and found a sky more full of stars than you had ever seen before.
“Woah,” you breathed out, full of amazement and wonder. “There’s so many.”
“Lay down.” He patted the deck next to him, and you did what you were told. “If you watch closely, you might see a shooting star.”
“Really?” you gasped, your eyes scanning the sky even more intensely. You were attempting to look at every place at once, desperate to find what he had promised.
“Just pick a piece of the sky and watch it,” Thatch advised. “You’ve really never done this?”
“A few times,” you admitted. “But the sky has never looked this radent.”
“Radiant,” Thatch corrected, a smile on his lips. “Guessing you read that in one of your books.”
“Yeah. Sometimes-oh! There!” you pointed to the streak of light across the sky. “Did you see that one!?”
“Yeah! Good eye,” Thatch noted. “You’re very observant.”
“Dad says I’ll make a good strategist.”
Thatch glanced over at you. “Do you want to be a strategist?”
“I think so.” You kept your eyes on the sky. “I don’t know though. Sometimes it’s overwhelming to think that much.”
“You seem to like correcting Marco in the meetings.”
“Well, he doesn’t think of all the things he should!” Thatch laughed at your comment, but he didn’t say anything more.
“There’s another one!” you cried after a few moments, pointing at the sky.
“Gah! I missed it! Well, make a wish.”
“A wish?” you asked. You hadn’t heard of that before.
“It’s a thing you do in the North Blue. If nobody else sees the shooting star, you make a wish and they say it’ll come true.”
“But it won’t actually come true, right?” you reasoned. That was silly.
Thatch just shrugged. “Might as well try. What does it hurt?”
And so you closed your eyes and thought about what you wanted to wish for. A friend. That would be nice. One your own age. One who you could play games with and laugh with and tell secrets too. You wished for a friend.
“I made my wish,” you said, opening your eyes again.
“Don’t tell me what it was. You have to keep it a secret.”
“Okay,” you agreed. You watched the sky for a little while longer, but you didn’t see any more shooting stars. You must’ve used them all up on your wish. “Hey Thatch?”
“Hm?”
“Thanks for never making fun of me. Like when I mess up or stuff.”
“Why would I make fun of you?” he asked. You could hear the confusion in his voice.
“Some people do. But you don’t. So…thanks.”
“Sure, kid. Let me know if I ever hurt your feelings or I accidentally make fun of you, okay?” He sighed, and you could hear that he was struggling to stay awake. “Thanks for hanging out with me tonight.”
“I like stargazing,” you said, your eyes starting to droop.
“Me too, kid.”

Friend - Age 11
You were eleven when your wish came true. You wished on several stars since that first one, an overwhelming amount of them were spent on a friend your age. And there she was. Standing in front of you. She was slightly taller than you, and maybe a year or two older. But she would do.
“This is Whitey,” your father said, introducing you to the new girl. “She’s joining the crew as your new sister, so make her feel welcome.”
It took approximately four hours for you and Whitey to become best friends. The two of you shrieked with joy as you trampled across the deck. You bulldozed through people without a care in the world.
At night, the two of you hid under the covers, whispering secrets while you held your hand over your mouth to muffle the giggles. You made up stories and told her about the crew, and she told you about her life hopping from island to island, working under new people every few years.
One morning, it was just you and Thatch in the kitchen. You swung your feet while you sat on the barstool, waiting for Thatch to finish your eggs. You had heard enough stories, but you were afraid to ask Whitey directly. You didn’t want to lose a friend. Thatch wouldn’t make fun of you for asking, though.
“Was Whitey a slave?”
You heard Thatch make a garbled noise, like you had caught him off guard with your question. “What makes you think that?”
“The stories she told me. She moved around a lot, and the people were always really mean to her. She has a lot of scars on her hands.”
“Observant as always,” Thatch mumbled. “Yeah. Pops and Marco found her in the street, searching for food. But she used to be a slave.”
“Did we kidnap her?”
“You can’t kidnap a slave, kid. You free them.” He plated your egg, and threw some bread on the pan to toast it.
“So she’s free now?” you asked.
“Yep.”
“But she’s a kid.” Your brows knit together, trying to understand. “Kids are supposed to be with their family. Shouldn’t we take her back to her parents?”
“We’re her family now,” Thatch explained. “That’s what matters.”
“What if her parents miss her?” you asked. “Pops would miss me if I found another family.”
Thatch put the toast on your plate and slid it over to you. You could tell he was thinking carefully of how to word what he wanted to say.
“I don’t think Whitey’s family was very kind to her. I don’t think they miss her,” he said. “I don’t even think they know her. She’s been a slave for so long, they probably forgot about her.”
“Forgot?!” you cried. “I could never forget my family! I could never forget you!”
“And I’ll never forget you,” Thatch promised. “But some families aren’t close like ours. Some don’t like each other at all.”
“That doesn’t sound very much like family.” You weren’t really hungry anymore. This discussion had made you lose your appetite.
“It’s not. That’s why we're Whitey’s family now. So make sure you’re the best sister you can be, okay?”
“Okay! We're gonna do Spa Day!” You jumped off the barstool and raced out the door. You had to make Whitey feel like the most loved person in the whole world. She was your best friend and your newest sister.
“Your breakfast!” Thatch called, but you were already gone.
“Whitey!” You jumped on her, still asleep in bed. “Whitey, wake up!”
“I don’t want to,” she groaned, flipping away from you.
“But we’re gonna have Spa Day!”
Her eyes peeked out from behind the covers. “Spa Day?”
“Spa Day!” you cried. “Come on!”
You pulled her out of bed and to the female bathhouse. You immediately stripped down to your underwear, but Whitey kept all her clothes on. The two of you worked together to fill the tub full of hot water, steam spreading throughout the room.
“Oh! I forgot!” you threw your back clothes on quickly. “I need the vegetables!”
“Vegetables?” But you were already racing out the door and back to the kitchen.
“Thatch!” you yelled, running into the kitchen. Marco was in there, and he looked at you in an amused manner.
“Is it inside-out day?” Marco teased, and you stuck your tongue out at him. In your haste, you had thrown your clothes on the wrong way. But that didn’t matter right now.
“Here,” Thatch said, handing you a basket. “There’s salts, peppermint, and lavender. Put those in the bath. Over here are the aloe-coconut facemasks, just apply those before you get in the tub. The cucumbers over your eyes. Got it?”
You squealed in delight. “Thank you!!!”
“I’ve got stones on the warmer for when you’re done!” he called out to you as you ran back to the bathroom.
“You spoil her,” Marco chided.
“Oh please, as if you don't.”
-
“Got the vegetables,” you panted as you entered the bathhouse, exhausted from running across the ship.
Whitey was still dressed, and you frowned at her hesitance as you stripped down. “Whitey, you have to take your clothes off.”
“What?!” You could see her cheeks pink. “All of them?”
“To get in the bath, yeah.”
“Maybe I could just keep my shirt on.”
“No,” you said. “The fibers get into the drain and clog it.”
“Well I don’t want to take my shirt off.”
You scowled. “Why not? I have mine off.”
You could see the panic in her eyes at your question, her entire body tensing. “I don’t want to do this anymore.”
“Whitey-”
“Spa Day is stupid!” she screamed. She slammed the door as she left, making you jump at its echo in the room.
You tried your best not to cry. You really did. But by the time you were in the kitchen returning the ingredients to Thatch, your vision was too blurry to see his frame.
“She didn’t want to do Spa Day,” you sobbed, globs of lava mixing in with your tears. “She said it was stupid!”
“Oh, okay.” Thatch took the basket from you and set it to the side. “I’m sorry, kid.”
“I hate her!” you screamed, your skin starting to boil. “She’s so mean! She’s just like everyone else!”
“What exactly happened?” Marco asked, coming over to help mitigate your frustration.
“I told her no shirts in the bath,” you said between breaths. “Because that’s the rule!”
“Okay, uh, kid-” Thatch took a step back, letting Marco take over. The doctor had a bit more heat tolerance with your literal meltdowns. Your tears were starting to drip down onto the wood, burning holes into them.
“Y/N. Stop.” Marco said, putting a hand on your shoulder. “I know you’re upset, but we’re not going to destroy Thatch’s nice kitchen because of it, okay?”
Your lips puckered out, trying to hold in your sadness. “Sorry,” you whimpered. You wiped the hot tears from your face.
“Why do you think Whitey didn’t want to take off her shirt?” Marco asked. “Think about it.”
You bit your lip, thinking long and hard about why a shirt was a big deal. “She’s embarrassed.”
“Good,” Marco said, nodding his head. “Do we think we can bend the rules for it this one time to make her feel more at home?”
“But-”
“The drain, I know,” Marco finished for you. “I’ll talk to Pops. Don’t empty the tub when you guys leave, and let me know when you’re done, okay?”
You looked over at Thatch, trying to ask him a secret question. Why was she embarrassed? You silently asked.
Thatch nodded, understanding. “Think about what we talked about this morning.”
Family? No, not that. Whitey used to be a slave. She had scars on her hands. Maybe she had scars on her back too. Maybe she didn’t want to show them.
“Thank you Marco.” You gave him a hug, finally calm again. “And thank you Thatch.” You ran over and gave him a hug too. “Sorry about your floor.”
“It can be fixed,” Thatch assured you. He handed the basket back to you. “Just like you and Whitey.”
You walked back to your room, your stomach bubbling with nerves.
“Whitey?” you knocked softly on the door, and then opened it.
“Go away.”
“We can still do Spa Day,” you said.
“I said go away.”
“You can keep your shirt on,” you said. “It’s not a big deal. I’ll keep my shirt on too.”
Whitey turned over to look at you. “You will?”
You nodded. “We can have Shirt Spa Day.”
Whitey giggled. “Shirt Spa Day. That’s funny.”
“Shirt Spa Day!” you chanted, and she joined in with you. The two of you skipped down to the bathhouse, still chanting your silly string of words, and solidifying a tradition that would last for years to come.

Learning - Age 13
You screamed out in frustration, volcanic glass shattering around you. You had been trying for days to get this new technique right, and you could never make it like how you were envisioning.
A small beam of volcanic magma. That’s all you were trying to do. But you couldn’t get right. It was either the wrong consistency, or the wrong angle, or didn’t even come out at all.
And this evening you all were leaving the island. It would be at least a few days before you could practice again. Not that you had made any headway. You were still back at square one. You hadn’t done anything.
“Looks like you're struggling,” a familiar voice boomed, laughing at your distress.
You quickly composed yourself, trying to appear somewhat level-headed before you turned to the voice.
“Teach!” you said, putting on a smile and giving a laugh. “Yeah, just a little bit.”
“Maybe I can help?”
You gave a polite smile, not wanting to appear rude. You weren’t entirely sure what Teach could do to help, since he didn’t have a devil fruit ability. But Marco and your father had left you to figure it out on your own, and you could use any help you could get.
“What exactly are you trying to do?”
“Just a thin lava stream projectile,” you explained. “One that can be small and precise if I need to take out one person in a group.”
Teach nodded, impressed with your idea. “Have you got the lava beam worked out yet?”
“No, that’s the problem. I can’t make it at all.”
“Let me see.”
You frowned, but you did as you were told. You held your hand out, pointing to a rock, and tried to make a small strand of lava shoot from your hand. You could feel the energy building up, like all of the pressure was stuck behind a wall.
And then there was a flash, and magma erupted from the ground around you, spewing hundreds of feet into the air.
Luckily Teach was far enough away that the blast zone didn’t hit him. He simply laughed at your misfortune, a loud booming cackle.
“I see your problem,” he said. “You’re too strong.”
You scowled at him, thinking he might be trying to make fun of you. “What do you mean?”
“You’re trying to make a tiny beam. But you don’t even know what the beam should look like. You’re doing too much at once and overloading your senses.”
“Marco said I should start small,” you said.
“Marco doesn’t have your kind of power.” He laughed again, walking over to you. “Look, kid. Just focus on making a beam. It doesn’t matter how big it is. Don’t limit it. Just envision a beam hitting, say…that rock over there. Try that, okay?”
You looked at your hands, skeptical of his advice. “Okay.” You took a deep breath, and held out your hands in the direction of the rock. “You might want to step back.”
“Don’t need to. Don’t kill me, okay?”
You couldn't kill Teach. He was one of the oldest members on the ship. He had always been there. You'd never forgive yourself if you even burned him a little. You had to get this right. You took one more breath, trying your best to center yourself and envision the kind of thing you wanted. And then, you pushed the lava out of your hands, aiming for the rock.
It hit. Exactly how you imagined it would. Well, it was kind of hard to miss the rock. Your beam was about 10 times larger than what you had initially wanted. But it was a beam.
You could hear Teach cheering behind you, whooping and hollering at your success.
“I did it!” you screamed, hardly believing it yourself.
“You’ve got power, kid!” Teach patted your head in approval, and you couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride. You had been failing because you had been limiting yourself. But you weren’t a failure. You were powerful.
“It’s my dream to perfect this,” you said, a grin on your face. “Perfect this and become division two commander.”
“That should be a pretty easy goal for you to reach,” Teach said. “Better start thinking of another dream soon.”
“Do you have any dreams, Teach?”
“We all have dreams, kid. I’m just glad I could help you get closer to yours.”
“What’s yours?”
He cackled at your question. “There’s a devil fruit I'd like to find one day.”
“Oh! Well, the Grand Line is huge, it’s gotta be out there somewhere. Any fruits I find you’re welcome to. ” It's the least you could offer.
“Well that sure is kind of you! I’m sure it’s around here somewhere.”
“I really hope you find it, Teach.”
“Me too, kid. Me too.” He sighed, a smile dancing across his lips. “But let's focus on you! Keep practicing! Make it smaller and smaller until you’ve got it the way you want. You’ll get there!”
It was the first time someone really understood how you learned and operated, and every move you perfected in the future came from what you learned that day.

Kiss - Age 16
You hadn’t expected your first kiss to be on your 16th birthday, but that’s just how it happened.
He was a new crew member, and he had caught your eye almost immediately. His name was Palms, and he was quite the looker.
You must’ve caught his eye as well, because every time you looked at him, he seemed to already be watching you.
The two of you played this silent game, flirting only with looks passed between one another, when finally Whitey nudged you.
“Will you just go talk to him! You guys have been fucking each other with your eyes since the sun went down!”
“Whitey!” you gasped, giggling at her bluntness. She rolled her eyes and waved you on, encouraging you to get a move on.
You met him over by the keg, and you filled up your tankard while waiting for him to speak.
“I hear this party is for you!” he yelled, trying to make his voice heard over the music.
“My 16th birthday!” You yelled back.
“Oh, I’m sorry! I didn’t know! I would’ve brought a present!”
You gave him a wink. “You still have time to think of one.”
“Oh yeah?” He asked, his eyes raking your body. “Yeah, I can think of one.”
You had never felt self-conscious before in your outfits, but Whitey had chosen this one for you, and it was a bit more skin than you were used to. But she had told you that confidence was key, so you gave him a smirk and walked inside the doors. You wanted a little bit of privacy.
He was a terrible kisser. Or maybe you were. You weren’t sure. It was your first time kissing, after all. But it was still euphoric. A rush of the senses, you could feel your body temperature rising in response to-
“Holy shit you’re hot,” Palms said, pulling away from you. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah, that just happens sometimes,” you explained, rushing back to his mouth.
“No,” he said, pulling away from you. “You’re like, burning me.”
“Oh.” You could feel your cheek blush. Your skin started to churn, anxious at this new revelation. You couldn’t even kiss without your ability going haywire.
“Are you sure you’re okay?” He said, watching the magma beneath your skin start to glow with slight concern. Not concern for you. Concern for himself.
“Yeah.” The moment was gone, and you only felt shame now. “Thanks for the birthday present.”
He gave a nervous laugh. “If you need another one when you cool down, you know where to find me.”
You gave him a polite smile and rushed out onto the deck. Instead of returning to the party, you went up the stairs and to the back of the ship. You just wanted to be alone.
You knew what some people said about you. How you couldn't control your emotions. And since your emotions controlled your powers, you couldn't control that either. People constantly questioned your father on your abilities, and his decision to make you lead strategist at such a young age. The only people who really trusted you on their teams were Marco and Thatch. The other commanders would tolerate you, but they would never use you to your full potential. It's like everyone was just waiting for you to mess up.
You leaned over the side of the ship as you cried, trying not to get any burn marks on the wood. You had been with your devil fruit ability for over ten years now, and you still couldn’t completely control it. You hated it. Some days you wished that you had never eaten that stupid thing, or that you had just let those men take you to the Navy and it-
“I thought we’d find you here,” Whitey said, coming up next to you. She gave you a light bump on the shoulder.
“We?”
“Come on,” Marco said from behind you. “We’re going to play Strategist and Commanders.”
“You said I’m too young for that.”
“Not anymore,” Thatch said, a smile spreading across his face. “You’re sixteen now, aren’t you? Welcome to the club.”
“But I’m just the lead strategist. I don’t belong to a division.”
“Don’t belong to a division,” Marco scoffed. “You can be on my team. Or Thatch’s. Whoever you don’t choose is stuck with Whitey.”
“Stuck with?!?” Whitey pouted, rolling her eyes. “More like graced with!”
“But-”
“Stop making excuses,” Thatch said, ruffling your hair. “Let’s go.”
You gave him a smile, already forgetting about your disastrous kiss. “Let’s go.”
Oh, they had no idea what kind of monster they had awakened that night.
--
Departing - 2 years ago
“You’re sure you want to do this?” Marco asked, looking at you.
“A lot of things will change in two years,” Thatch warned.
“I’m ready.” You nodded, adjusting your things on your back. “I need to do this.”
You walked over to Whitey, the goodbye you were dreading the most.
“You gonna be okay without me?”
Tears filled her eyes. “Yeah.”
“You don’t have to lie, Whitey. I’m not going to be okay without you either.”
She let out a soft sob, and clamped her hand over her mouth. “I’m sorry,” she whispered.
“Don’t be.” You wrapped her in a hug, crying too. Normal tears now, though your lava tears rarely affected your ice-witch best friend.
“I know you have to leave to get stronger,” she said, her voice muffled by your gear. “But I hate it so much.”
“We’ll have SO much to catch up on when I get back, though!” you let out a choked laugh. “We can stay up all night under the covers, just like old times.”
“Promise?” she sobbed, clutching you tighter.
“I promise.”
The two of you finally broke apart, viciously wiping the tears off your face.
“That was embarrassing,” you both said in sync, which started another round of laughing sobs.
“Y/N.” Your father’s voice boomed from nearby, quiet, but urgent. “We have a small window of operation to get you where you need to go.”
“Right.” You gave Whitey one more squeeze. “I’ll see you soon. And I’ll make a journal every day so I remember everything to tell you. You do the same.”
“Deal.”
You walked over to your father, towering above you. “Thank you for everything, Pops.” You tried to keep your voice level, but you could feel your lip trembling.
Thankfully, your father’s was doing the same. “I know this is the right call. The timing couldn’t be better. I'll remind you, you’ve already done it, but continue to make me proud.”
“I’ll do my best,” you promised.
“That’s all I can ask for.”
He pulled you in for a hug, and you could feel he was holding back tears, just like you were. You had never been away from your father, besides small missions and scouting trips. And now you wouldn’t see him for two years.
“Ready, Izou?” you asked, looking toward the man who would take you to Wano.
“Let’s go.”
You walked through the crowd, saying goodbye to the only family you had known your entire life.
“Good luck!” called Haruta. He had just joined, and you were sad you wouldn’t get to know him more.
“Get nice and strong, and come be our commander!” Teach yelled, and you gave him a grateful nod.
“We love you!” called a group of young adults. You spotted Palms amongst them, and blushed as you waved.
You knew things would be different when you got back. You just didn’t realize how different they would be.

AITA for breaking up with my BF because I suck my thumb?
👍
alright, to preface this. I am autistic and I got a bit of an oral fixation and this just happened by the time of me writing this .
I, 22(FTM), and my (20M, ex-)Bf were hanging out in my room about a week ago. we were both laying down in bed. I was faced away from him watching tiktoks and he was behind me doing whatever, well at some point in my mindless scrolling I stuck my thumb in my mouth to just like, chew on a little - I've always done this since I was a tiny child and it always brings comfort to me, I know it's childish but it's not hurting anyone and frankly childish is good imo. well at some point my ex looks over my shoulder to start watching tiktok with me and we were only cuddled for a minute when he suddenly VERY LOUDLY in my ear goes "what the fuck", We were watching a dog video so I was like WHAT? WHAT IS IT? and he just rolls away from me and goes "that's gross" and infuriatingly I had to press him for a bit what he meant and he just pointed at my finger, that was admittedly looking a little wrinkly, but I was already annoyed by his dramatics that I just told him to shut up - I was a little defensive alright, cuz my older brother used to make fun of me for everything I did and especially when he "caught" me sucking on my thumb, it's a sore point for me tbh. but this sparked his annoyance with me and me and him got in a spat. it was a very stupid argument, something we would've had as a "joking" fight if either of us were in a better mood but it ultimately boiled down to him demanding I stop doing that around him and me telling him to fuck off which ended when he had to go to work at night, literally it lasted HOURS.
well we stayed together for a little longer yk, I kept justifying it, it was a dumb fight I can admit that but in the week following I noticed I wasn't fidgeting around him, I wasn't even laying down, always sitting up in bed or in a chair. like I just couldn't relax around him after that? it's such a small thing, literally wouldn't have mattered if he brought it up in any other way or just kept it to teasing but instead he Told me I had to stop and that it was gross. so yesterday when we were hanging out again, I broke up with him. he was really upset and without saying "don't tell me not to suck my thumb, bitch" I explained that I didn't feel like I could be myself with him (which I couldn't and it takes me forever to be actually comfortable with people).
but he figured it was more or less because of our argument and told my mom (they're both friendly, he thinks their closer than they are) well my mom said, while she thinks he's a dumbass for trying to get her on his side, I'm also a dumbass for breaking up with him for that reason, even after I explained that's not the reason, just the catalyst. but now she's told my siblings and they're saying it was kinda a dick move and it's got me thinking, so AITA?
What are these acronyms?

141 x reader // johnny 'soap' McTavish masterlist
part one / ?? - also not proof read
your last school got annoying, some shitty northern school where all the kids wouldnt listen. the annoying little pricks would run rampage across the place, litter everywhere because the school spent the money not on bins or cleaners but for stuff for the principal and the higher ups. so you quit and jumped from school to school untill you landed at this one.
this new school had its ups and downs but all good schools had that. the staff were nice and the kids were decent. not many kids were classed as 'rebels', most of them were good, well-behaved. well in school they were, you didnt want to see what kind of stuff they did after school. even just being in the school half a week, you had heard some stuff. normal british school rumours though. 'this teachers shagged students!' 'i heard the pe teacher is a nonce and cheating on his wife!' obviously they werent true though.
after a while you had met nearly every one in your flooe, you hadmt met this one man who was strutting around. speaking to everyone and then eventually you. it was lunch break and you with a few other teachers were chatting, thats when he rocked up. he wore a ironed light blue shirt with a black/grey sweater on the top, his sleeves rolled up to the top of his forearm, just below his elbow. his pants were brown and perfectly outlined the shape of his bulking thighs. "yer new 'ere" he speaks, directly at you yet you hadnt noticed and continued eating your pasta pot. so he sat next to you, he dumped himself down and smiled cheekily at you, "i said 'yer new 'ere" his voice changed to a more dominating tone.
"ah sorry!" you slightly chuckle, pure nervousness. he returns a wide smile at yiu whilst he takes in your laugh. you give him your name and he replies with, "nice to meet ya, me names johnny"
as you continue eating your meal, he pulls out his. you take the chance to gaze up at his face, well more his hair. his kind ofd grown out Mohawk made you think what his personality was like. he seemed nice so far.
strange.
you couldnt say it wasnt pretty hot though, obviously you wouldn't tell people that! you were barley a week into being at this school and you had liked it so far, you wouldnt want your chances ruined because of your silly attraction to his hair. his fluffy, brown long hair.
"what department ye in, bonnie?"
"art"
"hm." he sits whilst chewing down on his beef sandwich.
the two of yous talked for a while, the whole of lunch actually. a few people tagged along, just another teacher who you had been talking too for the last few days, she was nice. her name was liv and she was luckily another art teacher. you three were talking, mostly about you : where you came from, other schools youve been at and what you thought on this school.
everyone shared their opinions on the school, you thought it was decent whilst the other two liked it. they had told you after a bit all the flaws dont seem like flaws. it was entertaining, all the rumours and drama that went around.
lunch soon finished and johnny smiled cheekily once more at you, "what days will you be working?"
"i get mondays off" you reply with a happy smile. "great! i ken see ya everyday" he smirks.
you giggle nervously at him and nod, "ill see ya, johnny"
"bye hen"

part 1/add on
Mav is Jake's biological father and both of them only find out recently.
Ideas on what happens later on/Time skip when Jake is on shaky ground with everyone, but doing his best.
---
"He taught you how to drive?" Jake asked, throat tight. He didn't know why that hit him more than whatever else Bradshaw told him, but it did.
"Yeah, my mom kept my dad's Bronco, and when I was little, Mav promised to teach me how to drive it. Plus, mom didn't want to teach me how to drive, anyways, she was too anxious for it." Bradley said, chuckling softly.
"Oh," Jake said dumbly, looking down at his lap.
"Yeah, Mav always tried his best to be stationed near us, and he was pretty close when I was a junior in high school, after work he'd take me out to practice. Sometimes, on weekends, Mav would let me drive us to somewhere fun," Bradley said wistfully before breaking out in a grin. "But sometimes his version of 'fun' was doing groceries, so he wouldn't have to do it during the week."
When Jake was a junior, he managed to cash in enough favors that he asked a friend to teach him how to ride a bike without telling a soul. His other friend was throwing out an old bike, and asked Jake if he wanted it. He rode that bike to work, cut down the 30 minute walk to a couple minutes.
He didn't get his learner's permit until after high school, and learning how to drive was a pain because he didn't have anyone to teach him. He spent a good portion of his savings for some driving lessons, and begged his friends to let him drive their car for practice (most of them said understandably said no).
Javy was a saint and let him drive his car the most. He did his best not to give his best friend too much heart attacks. Javy brought him to take his driving test.
He managed to past his test, grinning at Javy as he left the car, heart thumping in his ears. He was scared that he would have let Javy down, thankfully he didn't.
Afterwards, car hunting was hell, but he managed to find something that wouldn't break his savings account while getting him from point A to point B. He got one as fast as he could, not wanting to rely on other people anymore.
He loves driving. Loves the freedom it gives him to get as far as he could, whenever he wanted to.
"Sometimes I got annoyed at him because he would wake me up at some unholy hour in the morning, the sun wasn't even out yet, man." Bradley whined, while Jake furrowed his brow, looking down so Bradshaw wouldn't see.
"At least you got practice driving at night," Jake said, voice even.
"Yeah, guess so," Bradley mused.
"Listen, I gotta go, okay?" Jake said, dusting his pants as he stood up.
"Sure, see you tomorrow, man," Bradley said, clapping his shoulder as Jake nodded and started to walk away.
Jake took out a toothpick and started chewing on it as he walked to his car, running a hand over the side as he walked around it. It was a newer model, not the barely pieced together car he got years ago. He made sure to do maintenance on it daily, and kept the exterior neat and shiny.
He got himself where he is now.
He clenched his jaw and he closed his eyes tightly as he rested his forehead on the driver's door.
He wished that he didn't have to all the time.

"No bubblegums, I told you". His voice was stern as he walked down the corridors of the enormous Fatui headquarters in Snezhnaya. The long coat draped over his shoulders trailed along the floor following Zandik's decisive, echoing footsteps.
You grunted and rolled your eyes as you put the still wrapped chewing gum back in your pocket. What never ceased to surprise you was the fact that he heard everything and saw everywhere even though his eyes were covered by a mask.
"Good". He didn't even turn.
"Whatever". If there had been anyone else in your place, they wouldn't have lived another second, but you were you and the scary crow who occupied the second place of the Harbingers liked you.
"Faster, darling. The meeting is about to start and we're late".
You were not in a good mood: your acid reflux acted out again and that day it seemed particularly awful. You were out of energies and your throat had been burning since that morning. Your stomach seemed to be very displeased by everything you tried to eat and made you throw up before you could even finish your breakfast.
Dottore was there with you and as soon as he saw your mood starting to falter, he gently dragged you away from the table with one arm and wrapped you in a hug, not giving a single shit about the string of saliva dripping from your lips.
He cradled you in his arms - a sweet action that only you got to see and experience, being the only person Zandik had allowed to get so close to him - until you cried your last tear and sniffled one final time. He then kissed your forehead and flashed you a soft smile.
He demanded that you drink at least a quarter of a liter of water and then escorted you to the bathroom to brush your teeth - "Bile is acidic, you have to rinse it all out", he said - and prepare you a good bath, because "It will help", he promised.
And while you bathed, he cleaned the mess you accidentally did on the table himself, knowing full well that you hated it when people found out about your problem.
You didn't want him to know about it, too, but he eventually discovered it by analysing you with his medical eye.
In the beginning you thought that your disease would compromise the sweet bond that was forming between you two, that he would be disgusted, maybe even mad at you. But no. He was comprehensive, to a level you had never experienced with anyone.
"A doctor who is disgusted by illnesses fails every part of their work", he told you many times, "Even though medicine is not the only field I studied".
But he was still a doctor, and after the initial sweet reassurance he made sure to be understood, severely. Especially by you, since he cared about you way more than the others and wanted you to always feel at your best.
You arrived at the meeting door a minute late. Before entering, he turned to you.
"Are you feeling better?".
"A bit. My throat is still aching, though".
He analysed you with a glance. "I already told you, but you can wait outside if you don't feel too good".
"It's okay. My presence is needed anyway".
He sighed and put his hand on the handle to open the door, but he stopped as he seemed to remember something.
"Your chewing gum. Give it here".
"What?". You were surprised, eyes wide open. Doctor's sixth sense, you thought. Must've understood that you would've put the gum inside your mouth as soon as he was distracted. You knew it wasn't healthy, especially for your acute acid reflux, but you were stressed and you needed to chew on something that wasn't the inside of your cheek.
"You heard me", he reiterated, showing you the palm of his hand.
You rolled your eyes and gave him the bubblegum. He smirked and finally entered the room.
But he didn't notice the smile forming on your lips once he turned his back to you. He especially didn't notice it when you started to chew on another gum you had kept in your sleeve.
But he definitely did notice it when your eyes widened and started to water.
Your chest was burning and you could feel the bile slowly but surely coming up.
You looked at him, pleadingly, and he sighed.
He brought you out of the meeting room just in time.
When you recovered a bit, he scolded you until he was sure that you wouldn't have done it again.
And you did understand, but your whole situation didn't seem fair. The more you thought about it, the more your heart ached, until you broke down and he wrapped his arms around you comfortably for the second time that day.
Without you realizing it, he signaled one of the guards along the corridor to clear the passage and leave it completely empty. He didn't give any reason, but as you two headed towards your Harbinger's office, you wondered if all that silence and lack of staff was his doing.
He comforted you until you felt better, brushed your teeth another time and made you sit down to rest.
When a smile finally appeared on your lips, he kissed the top of your head and excused himself, momentarily leaving the room to "teach that fucking ginger head a lesson, because he shouldn't have dared to give you those chewing gums and make you feel sick".

JOSEPH JOESTAR CHARACTER ANALYSIS (1)
I never see anyone talk or analyze Joseph very often in the fandom, which is tragic because i believe he's very complex!! So here's some thoughts to chew on, rattle around in your head a bit. It's all under the cut, and it is LONG AS HELL because i have a LOT to say on him!!! Warning though, it's not super properly punctuated as these are discord rambles of mine, but -- enjoy nonetheless!!
i think it's super interesting to note how every time someone puts joseph down, or does something shitty to him, he just doesn't care. not a single bit. he even says it's fine, maybe even deserved sometimes. he assumes people always thinks the worst of him, and yet doesn't really care aside from the one time he dressed in drag and got insulted about it. even then he was just kind of, "man. i looked hot though.." however every time someone even remotely upsets his friends or hurts those who don't deserve it or his family he goes. ABSOLUTELY APESHIT. he will get SO fighty.
he will immediately throw hands and hurt you physically without thinking about it he likes to put assholes in their place sometimes (i.e. the taxi driver, the nazis who insulted him. and any nazi really ) but that is different than really caring about what they say to him. i think he has a very strong moral code, though people tend to see him as quite dubious because of his loud and obnoxious behavior every consequence to his actions, he only worries what others close to him will think and he can easily be driven to a blind rage revenge if you dare to hurt his family in any way. because you DONT fuck with his family. family is the no. 1 thing he cares about
beating up racist cops? he only feels bad because he doesn't want to stress out erina with the thought of bailing him out. told speedwagon is dead? he's upset, but he keeps his cool and throws a punch at the guy for upsetting erina, and worries more about her comfort than his own. guys hijacking a plane and holding him hostage? he couldnt care less if he was the hostage, he only cared enough to stop it because it might risk getting speedwagon hurt. and it goes on
and for the sake of his family he keeps purposefully trying to risk himself to death repeatedly. when fighting kars lets not forget when he shot kars into space and his thoughts were about how he was ok with dying if it meant his family was safe i think . and i said this before this is just me getting my thoughts out way more eloquently with points i've already touched on before. but.
in a non emo way, it's really hit me how he isn't like. beat up about it. about assuming ppl always think the worst of him. he cares way more about others than himself type of guy thats like similar to "they're friendly but after awhile of their support and talking to them you realize to your horror you dont actually know anything about them at all" other than he's like. bold and brash and likes to start fights sometimes oh and lest we forget he also tends to take the death of loved ones so hard to the point that no matter the circumstances true causes he always blames himself.
he always blames himself and gets a bit. ummmmm i wouldn't say suicidal but like way too risky with his life and stops really caring if he'll die. he's just so used to nobody ever understanding him and his "off kilter" tbh neurodivergent way of thinking and living that he. like. he doesn't exactly have great self image beyond thinking he has sexy lips which sounds so silly but it's true and again it's not something he dwells on it's just kind of, A Fact to him. and this isn't even touching on the slew of issues i'm sure speedwagon's constant comparing of him to his dead grandfather must have caused.
It's very evident to me that he has ALWAYS felt like a burden to some degree i think. even when erina and speed havent really treated him as such. This is why I think his dynamic with speedwagon would be pretty strained / already seems as such -- bc. As I said before, he's ALWAYS comparing him to jonathan, even when he was just a kid.
NOW BY ALL MEANS!! I DO NOT THINK speedwagon means any ill will. it's just something that he just keeps.. doing because. well he respected jonathan so much, and it kind of clouds how he sees joseph because -- well, joseph is the SPITTING IMAGE of him. But not intending harm does not mean he hasn't caused any by doing that -- comparison can WRECK you pretty bad. joseph has made it clear that he knows he's nothing like jonathan in any regards except looks and i think it kind of contributes to his overall. tanked self image. and also the fact that he's a reminder of the tragedy of losing his parents ( or so they thought for a while. yk )
he deeply cares for him still, this much is true. he always will. but, it doesn't negate the serious comparison issue, constantly being told "WOW you have an attitude not at ALL like your grandpa, he would have never done x!! how do you look like him while being such an angry kid!!"
..... said without real malice or really bad intention, more out of exasperation. but. those kinds of things stick with kids. yknow? Joseph's always bottled up his emotions and tried to be on his best behavior for erina's sake. hes always a little more open with speedwagon. but .............. BWGHGURUGURGGH!!!!!!! i could go on for hours about it ok. but i shall move on to my next point now.
what sucks about it though is that the fandom tends to gloss over these bit of characterization at every turn. there is a lot of sadness and concerning things surrounding joseph that he just simply SHRUGS OFF about that it's kinda concerning! not that he'd ever really see a problem with it.
the fact that he was prepared to die / did the bet if only to distract them long enough to let caesar and speedwagon get away... you COULD maybe read it as a little bit of self preservation but given how he handles literally all other instances of him possibly dying., and the circumstances of him leading whammuu away being to SAVE those two. I think it yet again falls in line with "who gaf if i die i care if THEY die". then he gets stressed about the time he has left. which i imagine would stress ANYONE honestly. but . part of me thinks that it's also because this means that he has a short time to make sure he can be strong enough to protect everyone he loves and cares for..
that isn't ALL there is, of course. but i feel like with his behavior that is probably a big reason of it. You can summarize it all with one sentence; essentially,
joseph isn't afraid of death, nor dying himself; he's afraid of his loved ones dying.
This fact is extremely present in everything he does and says, but especially so when Caesar's death hits. THAT, however, i will make it's own post on. I have a lot to say on that and how it fucked him up for life. For now, though, I will move on and touch on another topic.
for all the loud opinions joseph seems to also speak none of it is ever really looked into much deeper as anything more than " he's just being joseph again" and he never really elaborates on it either, hence why a lot of people don't know much about him. While he is schrodinger's himbo -- too stupid to be smart, too smart to be stupid -- it's clearly all an act to get people to lower their expectations of him. He doesn't like being taken as a joke though. that he is a hater of for sure so. Joseph hides his true self behind a mask of idiocy and lackadaisical attitude to the point where it's blended into his actual truest self and he can hardly tell what's real and what's the mask. But at the same time, Joseph gets very angry when nobody takes him seriously because of his facade and trying to make everyone lower their expectations of him so he can pull the rug out from under them.
He's so mad when people don't take him serious but then continues to act pretty unserious and it's like. Well if you want them to take you more seriously bro you should stop doing that. Stop lowering others expectations so you can kick their asses or have a general upper hand just in case ( but he won't 💖)
he is a bit of a polarizing character but i hate when fandom reduces him to just "funny goofster" or ""cheater"", or writes him off as annoying with no depth to him. To judge Joseph through a lense of solely good or solely bad is a terrible idea; that man is gray moraled as HELL, he has a strong sense of self justice while also being incredibly underhanded and sneaky. If you dislike him, that's fine -- but don't discount his complexity just cause of that!!! He's not puddle deep, there's a lot of facets to how truly fucked up he is.
yeah. he is goofy, and he's a cheater at many things. but there's a lot to him. HE'S COMPLEX!!!!
