Silrah + AU in which Farah's not killed but sent to Earth forgetting everything about the Otherworld
Another one that didn't come out the way I intended to, but I've been staring at it for long enough that I'm just gonna go with what I have at this point ...
1. It’s Sky who finds her, chasing a rumour that he hopes might be Bloom into the First World. He watches only long enough to be sure that she doesn’t know him — their eyes meeting across the expanse of parkland, the complete lack of recognition in hers — before returning to the Otherworld. “It’s her,” he tells them, sitting around the table that evening, and sees hope flare in the eyes of the man who raised him. “I know it’s her. But …” and that light fades as he continues.
2. Of course Saul goes. For her, he would always go; even if the rumour proves false, he would risk far more for the possibility that it’s his fairy out there. The bond between them has been dead since the day he’d been dragged to the Solarian prison over a year ago, leaving him certain that Rosalind had killed her, but as he watches the woman who could be her ghost, he feels, or imagines he does, something stir in his chest.
3. He doesn’t approach. At first it’s fear, because there’s a possibility that he’s wrong and this isn’t Farah, but when Musa accompanies him on his next scouting run, she confirms what he’s known in his gut from the moment he first set eyes on her. There’s such sympathy in her gaze that he has to look away, focussing instead on the clouds overhead, wondering if this is the same sky as they see in the Otherworld. The thought is less comforting than it should be.
4. They had talked, in the years after Aster Dell, about what it might be like to forget that day — if walking away from the past might let them find some measure of happiness once freed of its weight. Remembering those conversations, he tries to tell himself that he should stay away; she’s achieved that, and he has no right to wake the demons of the past for his own selfishness. And yet he comes back, again and again, because the pull remains too strong, and because his own nightmares persist and he needs to know she’s safe, she’s well, that at least one of them has broken free.
5. He thinks he’s been discreet, and so he’s entirely unprepared for the day she sits down on the bench beside him. “I don’t bite, you know,” she says without preamble, and as she smiles he’s struck yet again by the lightness of this woman, and the unfairness of bringing the weight of memory to crash down on her again. (And yet.)
6. If this was a First World fairy tale, that first brush of her lips against his would right everything once more. But he knows, better than most, that those tales hold little of reality, and so it is nothing more than a kiss.

5+ headcanon if you wouldn't mind: Organic farmer Tissaia (or winery owner) and chef Yen. Loads of food and flirting, and maybe Yen then creates a winning dish inspired by Tissaia and profess her love to her during some kind of interview.
Oh man haven't done one of these in a while. I love surprise prompts xD
I see your chef Yen and raise you...
Yen recently opened a brick and mortar café, and the menu is all about clean, organic eating, etc. Fair trade coffees, responsibly sourced grains, locally-baked breads, local produce and cheese, etc.
(Previously the business was a food truck with a decent following; they were successful enough that Yen decided to take out a loan and give the permanent storefront thing a go. So far it's looking ok?)
Expanding the business means expanding the menu, and that's where Tissaia comes in. They've been doing fruits for smoothies, but not a whole lot of veg. Yen wants sandwiches with fresh, juicy tomatoes. More greens. Salads! Soups! (She makes damn fine corn chowder and broccoli cheese soups, and had been working on a chicken sausage and kale soup recipe, but soup never really made much sense for the food truck. Now she's gonna have soup, dammit, and she needs to source that veg.)
Tissaia does source produce for a couple local establishments, as one of the larger local farmers, but her big thing isn't even her own farm—it's urban farming. She's spearheaded 3 different urban farming initiatives locally, but of course the whole thing doen't get much attention outside of the circle that are already interested in that sort of thing. Regardless, she helps source seeds, fertilizers, etc, and leads up most of the logistics involved in training folks to tend the plots and all that. Soil pH! Etc etc.
When Yen first contacts DeVries Farms, it's via email. Tissaia signs off as T. DeVries, and y'all bitches know exactly where this is headed but I'm taking you there anyway. Yen likes a boots-on-the-ground approach when it comes to knowing where her food is coming from—she's saved up to make a few trips overseas to meet the farmers responsible for her coffee, tea, quinoa... and has definitely met the folks that bake her bread and grow her fruit. T. DeVries is "happy to oblige" when asked for a tour.
T. DeVries is... (Tissaia arches an eyebrow, her hand still caught up in Yennefer's where she's been too caught up in her surprise to release her. "Something wrong?" "What? Oh, shit, no—sorry, just. Wow." "..." "sorry, I think I expected a, uh... very large... man..." "...I get that a lot, actually. Kind of the point.")
(Tissaia learned early that people don't really take women farmers seriously for some reason)
Anyway it's a great working relationship and Yen keeps conveniently deciding to add more recipes with a wide array of produce to the menu, which is a great excuse to call Tissaia (she prefers phone calls really, and Yen doesn't mind at all when her voice sounds like that)
As the cafe gains traction she's interviewed for a local paper and, naturally, talks about the choice to support family farms and fair trade, and thanks all her local suppliers because she's very passionate about supporting local business as well as clean eating in general. She might start prattling on about Tissaia. She might realize it, be embarrassed about it, but not have the wherewithal to stop herself. ("And our newest supplier is DeVries Farms, just outside of town. All the veg you see comes from our there—honestly the best tomatoes I've ever tasted. And Tissaia—uh, the owner, Tissaia DeVries, she a phenomenal person and a joy to work with; actually she's spearheaded two... three?? urban farming campaigns here in the city. If you haven't heard of them you should definitely check them out, because they're great initiatives that really help lower-income families without easy access to produce and healthier options, and her knowledge and expertise has really helped drive these initiatives to success..." [insert more q&a about urban farming, followed by a half joking comment about how fond Yen seems to be of Tissaia; cue nervous laughter])
Anyway after Yen somehow winds up not only giving a huge shoutout to the urban farming campaigns (which brings in a LOT of volunteers and donations and general interest very quickly) but also managing to play it as if the success of her own business rests on Tissaia's shoulders lmao, Tissaia shows up at the café one day and Yen's eyes just about bug out of her head. ("I thought it was time I taste the fruits of my labour, so to speak. And besides, I have a gift for you." "A... gift?" "As thanks. For the positive attention for the urban farms. They tend to fly under the radar, but the truth is they need community support—volunteers to water and weed. Honestly just one or two families deciding to save their vegetable scraps and take them to the farms for composting instead of sending them to the landfill is helpful.") (Idk what the gift is, use your imagination)
Tissaia is... suddenly a fixture at the café. And Yen starts keeping fliers and shit up to advertise the farms, etc. Yen insists that Tissaia eats free. Tissaia insists that she pays. The compromise is that Tissaia winds up tipping the amount she would have paid for her meal. (The staff is happy so Yen keeps insisting that nobody is to ever take Tissaia's money for food or drinks. The staff is happy to comply.)
The elephant in the room of course is that Yen said some pretty gay shit while she was talking Tissaia and her farm up. Neither of them mentions it but Jaskier and Triss ("the staff") ship it REAL hard and make no secret of it.
The day Yen can't stand it anymore and just plants one right on Tissaia’s mouth in the back corner of the dining area, Jaskier deadass pelts them with a handful of carrot ends and yells at them to "get a room". Yen: "Oy! You're meant to be saving those for broth, not target practice!"

toby- also an english prof- is very gruff and tough but if you get an a in his class you can survive anything. he's very private but wears a wedding ring and insists his class is superior to cj's
they keep arguing about literary interpretations in the hallways
leo is the long suffering dean tired of telling them to stop fighting in the hallways
everyone thinks they hate each other
they're married.
sam initiates a rule that if you're late but bring him starbucks he won't count it against you
will's office gets pranked once a semester and it's definitely not josh's fault

Okay I know people love to headcanon that Floyd went grey but the way I know it was just for character design is killing me I swear, like- look at him he looks like the kind of dude that would modify his ears in Claries.
I totally headcanon that getting your ears modified would totally be like a trend for trolls to have that emo vibe and you can’t change my mind about it

Ectoberhaunt 2023. Day 5. Hunt and Haunt.
~Well, here we go again, good old Ghost Hunger AU~
Description: The Ghost Zone is inherently a violent place. You can hunt or be hunted, there is no other options. However, for some reason the Halfa does not understand what is happening. And no one rushes to explain it. NB! ghost cannibalism is mentioned.

Suppose there’s a conventional division among ghosts. Some of them are potential predators capable of hunting their own kind, while others are only able to absorb the surrounding energy and therefore build up power more slowly than hunters.
So, predation is used as a method of survival in poor ectoplasm areas of the Ghost Zone, less often as a means of gaining power. Even less often hunters are created.
It is obvious that the appearance of a hunter who is the son of human ghost hunters in a haunting place without stable sources of ectolasm has caused panic in the society of the dead ones. For the newly formed ghost to have ectoblasts, fangs or ghost sense is a rarity and great luck. So the newcomer had everything and more to be a serious threat. An awful danger for the surrounding spirits…Right?
But Danny doesn’t know the specifics of his new biology ectology!
Even though he’s a hunter, he’s never had a ghost hunger. Probably because thanks to his parents he has an amazing ectoplasm concentrator in the basement. Soon everyone understands that the boy does not attack first. Those who return through the portal never report any losses at all. He does not bite or attempt to capture cores of other spirits. At first, the ghosts think it's a trap. Smart enough for a beginner. Not everyone has the tenacity to pretend to be an idiot to get close to them. But the Phantom never feeds on them. He’s…safe?
What’s more, Danny seems to think they’re a threat to the city. Which is fun and weird. Normally, there is no competition for feeding using human emotion. But the owner of the lair did not like the smell of fear in the air. Is this ghost broken?
When the ghosts who visit Amity realize that the halfa does not know that he can hunt them, rather than just guard his territory...Well, it explains a lot. Everyone agrees not to explain the situation to the boy so that the city behind the portal remains a relatively safe haven during the during a "hunting season" and other troubles in the Infinite Realms.
~~~~~
The problem arises when Phantom begins exploring the Ghost Zone. What if the other hunters make the boy stop being a freak?
In addition, more experienced ghosts may well attack the careless halfa. And Amity Park under the control of a more predatory spirit would be a terrible outcome. Most dead ones near the portal are used to the fact that the area before Wisconsin is open to travel and migration without the threat of being eaten.
All rational ghosts try to avoid the territory of hunters. If you can’t defend yourself, there’s too much risk of being a free meal. It’s much safer to settle down with spirits with similar energy levels at door clusters. If the hunter does not purposefully show up at your lair, you will have a much better chance of keeping the afterlife.
Those of the Ancients who have won their position and those of them who were created for it have become accustomed to isolation. Although all the Ancients have lost the need to eat 'cause they have absorbed enough energy, legends about their past are still be nightmares for all spirits. Just because they don’t need to eat other ones doesn’t mean they won’t. It is clear that a weaker hunter can also be hunted. No reason to risk.
Therefore, how freely and fearlessly Phantom communicates with Frostbite, Clockwork or Pandora is puzzling. Does he feel threatened at all? The Ancients find this experience refreshing. Lil communication without fear makes them feel sympathy for this youngling. Danny is always glad of their company. And the boy is not afraid to express his opinion. It is strange but...pleasant?
Their minions from time to time complain that they teach a potential enemy but it is very difficult to see a possible rival in Phantom. Danny is always in trouble. The youngster is silly and careless. Like a wet kitten that can’t even make a threatening hiss. So Ancients, to their own surprise, don't mind helping him. Why isn’t his naivety annoying?
For example, Frostbite’s trying to teach Danny hunting and tracking techniques because he thinks the little cub doesn’t know how to be what he supposed to be. Meanwhile Danny sees his attempts as a course of self-defense that he can use against ghosts who try to infiltrate his city.
~~~~~Bonus~~~~~
Some insufficiently powerful ghosts mimic predators to scare away dangerous spirits and protect themselves. Skulker is quite pleased that he managed to deceive halfa:

AU where Rhaenys and Corlys were an arranged marriage.
Borrowing from the books for the age difference, because it felt like it made more sense for Corlys being a position where they'd consider arranging that marriage. Vague book/show hybrid AU, I guess? It was an interesting one to try to get my head around!
1. "I'll find you a wife," the queen tells him, when he brings the fruits of his latest voyage to court. "A man like you should have a wife to dote on and to bring gifts to." He isn't sure if she's jesting or not, and so he just murmurs noncommittally and forgets about it not long after he sets sail for home. (Queen Alysanne, it transpires, does not forget.)
2. She is ten when her betrothal is announced. No one has consulted her, but even at ten she is familiar enough with the politics she has learned at her grandmother's knee so as to not be surprised. (She is upset, however; if she is to be the heir to the realm, then she would have expected to have some say in who it is she weds, or at least some warning. It changes how she looks at the world around her.)
3. Their wedding night is awkward at best; they only know each other on the surface, interactions thus far stilted at best. She does not want to resent him but she does, feeling as though he has been forced upon her; he feels the years between them like an insurmountable gulf, as distant from her in the marital bed as his ship is from her dragon.
4. "Do you want this?" he asks her, that first night at Harrenhal, as the lords gather for her grandfather's council. When she whirls to look at him, anger flushing her, she finds his expression oddly sincere. "I know you did, before," he continues, "but that was when you were your father's heir -- when it was years away. So tell me: do you want this?" She did not expect the question, and it takes her a moment to find her voice again. "Yes," she says, because it's as simple as that. Yes, because it's what she was raised to be. Yes, because she is her father's daughter. And yes, because she wants to be those things, and to do right by the people who she was told will one day be hers. This husband her grandmother had chosen for her just looks back at her for a long silent moment before he nods. "Then we'll make it happen," he says, as if that is also as simple -- we, she realises, a reaffirmation of his vows to stand beside her. (It is the first time in their marriage that she feels as though he has really seen her; it is, perhaps, the first time she really looks at him. And with that, everything changes.)
5. When she ascends the throne a decade later, he is among the first to bend the knee, and the fond gleam in his eye is for her alone.
(Regarding #4: I like the idea that an older and more politically savvy Corlys might have been better able to play politics for and alongside his wife, assuming it's still Viserys vs. Rhaenys at Harrenhal.)

AU where Toby spends time with his kids and is a badass working dad?
omg i love good dad!toby, canon did him dirty. none of this is like canon accurate for timelines because whatever
toby with the twins in a double stroller, pushing them down the hall ways of the west wing while walking and talking with the other senior staff. they kinda make fun of it at first but soon it's just part of the routine
everyone starts saying "fake" swearwords around the twins because you can't swear in from of children but this leads to josh saying 'fudge' and the president saying 'leaping lizards' in important meetings where the twins aren't even present
huck and molly are definitely in mallory's third grade class, sam offers to give them a white house tour
molly decides she wants to be margret when she grows up "you mean assistant to the chief of staff?" "no margret"
im sorry i can't get over the mental imagine of toby with one kid in a front carrier and one in a back carrier very very quietly cussing someone out because the twins are asleep but he's not letting pbs lose one penny of funding
send me an au and i’ll give you 5+ headcanons about it
