Dec 2023 Wk 4

Ongoing Series - Thai

Last Twilight (Fri YT) ep 8 of 12 - Mhok is about the most indulgent boyfriend on the planet. Why they dressed as 1930s gangsters for the wedding? I have no idea idea, but it’s adorable. IFYLITA mark 2? And they’re even dancing together using bits of the same steps that were used that show too. Cute nod.

The Sign (Sat YT) ep 6 of 10 - Everything but the kitchen sink includes lesbians apparently. Excellent. Carry on. Also a lot of filler about the sides. (Boring, stop that.) I wish the doctor were a little bit more of a multifaceted character (and less evil snakey), and that we had some of his backstory + Tharn. If we saw them as kids, having a longer true friendship, it would make Tharn’s attitude a little bit more sympathetic and forgiving.

For Him (Thurs iQIYI) ep 5 of 10 - I like this show, but it’s awfully one-sided in the romance arena. I mean shouldn’t they be trying to support and make each other happy? Why does it always have to come from Him? Also, I’m constantly worried about the fact that Nail doesn’t eat any vegetables. His digestive track must be in serious distress. And if the boy is a bottom?! Look I have concerns is all I'm saying, I hope he's getting his fiber along with the dk. Meanwhile... Mom confrontation! Always fun.

Twins the series (Fri GaGa) ep 9 of 10 - Now I’m having a hard time keeping the twins straight. Who’s getting beat up for whom, what’s going on? No matter who, First caught himself a live one. I like those bits.

Pit Babe (Fri iQIYI) ep 7 of 14 - I got little crumbs of my sides but not enough, and then they dropped the mpreg bomb. Kinda like blowing the BL diaper. Trash watch happening here.

Cooking Crush (Sun YT) ep 5 of 12 - They are so cute. And mostly such good communicators. Except evil dad is evil! I didn’t have OffGun tango on my bingo card, but I'm happy to check it off. After making everyone sing, GMMTV is now making everyone dance. I much prefer it. Kiss came a bit out of nowhere. But it was sweet.

A few minutes later...

Bake Me Please (Mon Gaga) ep 6fin - I don’t know, I feel like this just wasn’t good enough for the class of talent involved. Which means it’s mostly the story and script's fault. In the end I kinda just wanted Guy to get the guy.

In cluclusion:

A lack-luster story about a group of bakers coping with (mostly) a shoddy script that could not be saved by either the beauty nor the talent of the actors involved. It suffered for lack of narrative backbone and so did I. 6/10

Middleman’s Love (Fri YT & iQIYI ep 8fin - Mai is an adorable clingy boyfriend, and that bit was kind of cute.

Summation:

Office clown, Jade, a manic pixie dream dork, is courted by the new intern, Mai. This show is right in my wheelhouse but it fell flat for me. I wish it had lived up to the concept behind the title (if nothing else). If we had done more of Jade‘s family and the reasons behind his self-worth struggles and self-acceptance issues, they might have been easier to bare. Without backstory, the show had no through line. In the end, Jade was a largely intolerable character, and Mai felt flat and lacking in personality. I was disappointed with this show, and I hope they don't blame the pair for the poor ratings. 6/10

My Universe (Sun iQIYI) 1626 ep 19 of 24 - Meh. So dull.

Ongoing Series - Not Thai

VIP Only (Taiwan Fri Gaga) ep 7 of 10 - I’m not really interested in the late addition love triangle concept.

Sahara-sensei to Toki-kun (Japan Fri Gaga) ep 4 of 8 - a bit too frenetic and manic for me, this one. Glasses boy is best boy. But I’m kind of confused as to was actually going on with this show. Including whether I like it or not.

I Became the Main Role of a BL (Japan Sun Gaga) ep 1-3 - AKA BL Drama no Shuen ni Narimashita: Crank Up Hen - it should finish airing at the very beginning of the year, so I decided to wait and watch all 3 back-to-back.

It's Airing But...

Playboyy (Thurs Gaga) 14 eps - Dear Playboyy, it's not you, it’s me… I hate you. You’re about as deep (and as palatable) as a shot glass of cum. While I'm sure you’re someone’s kink, you're my weakest link. Goodbye. I DNFed this at ep 5. Frankly I'm impressed with myself for getting that far.

Night Dream (Sat YT) 6 eps - It’s a pain to track down and I really didn’t like the first episode so… DNF

The Whisperer (Sun ????) 10 eps - Thai horror BL that ALSO involves cheating (what joy is mine). I don't think even the perfect single dimple can motivate me to watch. Word is... it's terrible.

7 Days Before Valentine (Weds WeTV) 10 eps - Giving me Luminous Solution vibes. I'm waiting to binge if safe.

Dead Friend Forever (Thai Sat iQIYI) - horror, meh, tell me if it's worth my time?

It's done and I didn't, or we can't

Beyond The Star (Weds iQIYI) 8 eps - House of Stars meets Boyband. I was NOT impressed with ep 1. Been told I shouldn't bother. So I won't.

Behind the Shadows (Korea movie) - This is a historical I was interested in, but I've been told they kill the gay so I'm OUT.

[INTERNATIONAL] Cherry Magic (Sat YouTube) ep 3 of 12 - yeah Japan put the smack down on our boys. Sadness. You can use a VPN if you like. Read all about it here.

What Did You Eat Yesterday Season 2 AKA Kinou Nani Tabeta? Season 2 (Japan Gaga) 10 eps - will binge when I have a spare day.

Crazy work load right now so no idea when that will be. (End of year is a bear for me.)

Honestly I'm gonna have an epic number of dnf's this year for me.

Hey I just wanted to ask you, what do you think of the fact that in ToA the fact that Apollo bullied Harpocrates was basically made up and has no basis in myths? I'm kinda conflicted, because I can get behind holding the deities accountable for the stuff they have done, but that one think was made up.

I have seen this as a common complaint about ToA. And yes, I see the view - it has no basis in the actual myths, and therefore shouldn't reflect on what actual mythological Apollo has done.

Buckle up. I've got some thoughts to share here.

There are a couple things to consider here:

The Camp Half-Blood Chronicles are not meant to be 100% accurate to the myths. Nor did Rick really intend to do so when he first created the series - after all, PJO started out as Haley's new bedtime story, and to give him a character he could relate to. That was the main goal of Rick's.

Does Rick do his best to stay true to the myths? I do think so. Sure, he trips up at times (details of the myths [ie, Midas was not the judge of the Apollo V Pan contest], characterizations of the gods [ie, Aphrodite & Ares), ect.) but all in all he does do his best to give us a well-rounded story that has Greek Mythology as its influence.

Because also remember - PJO started out as a story about the demigods, not the gods. If the gods had originally been Rick's focus instead, I think we would have a bit of a different tale.

So a bit of creative liberty can be taken here, especially since Rick basically decided 'all myths are true!' with his Kane Chronicles and Magnus Chase books - it makes sense, from a storytelling perspective, that (ToA) Apollo would have crossed paths with Harpocrates at some point.

With all honesty, the CHB Chronicles shouldn't even be taken as fact about the myths - about the gods. Because no mythological series is ever 100% accurate, and to assume they are is disrespectful to the culture these myths come from.

And continuing with the storytelling perspective...honestly I think it was a pretty interesting choice on Rick's end. It's not myth-accurate, but I think it does add more to the story Rick is telling us.

He's not using these gods to make them look bad, after all. He's using them to tell a story. To give us a message.

And ToA's mainly centers around abuse.

Zeus isn't an abuser in mythology, but Rick made him one in his books to show us how abuse works. How it can be difficult to accept that you have been abused.

How hard it can be to acknowledge the fact that you have caused pain yourself.

Because while it seems like Harpocrates would cause Apollo's whole character to take a bit of a dive (after all, nobody likes a bully, right? Who would!), I...disagree.

I think Harpocrates deepens Apollo's character.

Stick with me.

I have been bullied in school. Fourth grade and seventh grade in particular were Dreadful for me and in seventh grade I would come home in tears about 95% of the time. I would even skip track practice because I was so emotionally unbalanced from the day I just couldn't take another minute.

There was something that my parents, grandparents, the parish deacon, ect all told me. There is probably a reason why bullies picked on me;

They were jealous.

There was something wrong with them; or, connecting to this point;

They were hurting.

Anybody else's brains go "Bingo!"?

Because think about it. By the time Harpocrates comes around, Apollo's already spent a lot of time under Zeus's thumb - under his abuse.

And personally, I don't think Zeus likes the other pantheons. And I bet he really doesn't like it when pantheons...mix.

Which is something Harpocrates is. A mix between his original Egyptian self, and what Ptolemy made him to be.

So imagine this: You are Apollo. You have been dealing with your father's abuse for centuries. You are hurting - physically, emotionally, and mentally. You come across this god who's a mix between Egypt and Greece. He is the opposite of you - silence where you are sound.

Wouldn't he be the perfect target to lash out at, without repercussions? After all...I doubt Zeus would care if Apollo was kicking around a mixed deity. Perhaps...he would even encourage it...

But I hear you - "But Apollo barely remembers Harpocrates!" And yes, he does barely remember him and it takes him a bit to acknowledge the fact that he did bully him.

So here's the kicker; I think Apollo lashed out at Harpocrates only a few times. He tried to transfer the pain he felt onto another, on the hope it would make him feel better.

But it didn't. Nothing made him feel better about himself.

And what's something we know about Apollo?

It's how much guilt he keeps bottled up. And I bet that after a few times, Apollo just...stopped going after Harpocrates. I think Apollo started feeling guilty about it, but quickly stamped it down and tried to forget about such feelings by forgetting about Harpocrates.

What you don't know can't hurt you, after all, right?

BTS Headcanon || The Members Playing Loteria

A/N: Hey! I just wanted to write a little blurb while I'm working on the next installment of Blind Date(s)! @maple-leaves-in-the-wind and I came up with this and it was super fun to think about how they would be if they played loteria.

For those who don't know loteria, here's a quick run-down: It's basically bingo, but with betting. You have a set amount (usually a few cents) that you pay per "bingo" card (you can have multiple cards) and you pile the money in the middle. You, then, have someone calling the cards (numbers in bingo) and you win by filling a row either vertically, horizontally, or diagonally and get the money from the middle. Basic bingo rules. At the very end of the game, there is one last round where you pay a good amount of money for each card. The higher the amount, the bigger the pot, the higher the stakes. You win the final pot by filling out the ENTIRE card (think blackout bingo).

Playing loteria with the members would best be described in one word…

CHAOTIC

If RUN BTS has taught us anything, it’s that they are competitive

I’m talking shouting

Blaming

Demanding recounts (looking through each card that was called)

Demanding their money back if they think that the person who’s always winning every round (most likely you) is cheating

The WHOLE nine yards

And speaking of money…

Broke millionaires

When you said that everyone would be buying a card at 25 cents a pop, they immediately start running around whoever’s house (or the shared dorm) that you’re playing at and digging in between the couch cushions for change

Though you had told them about this game DAYS in advance

“Spare change? Spare change, ma’am?”

And don’t even get me started on how much is going into the final pot

Someone Tae suggests that they should pay 5 bucks a card and everyone becomes DEFENSIVE

Get ready for some arguments to break out

"Alright, should we do one final round before we call it a night,” I asked, looking around the table, slightly chuckling at some of the members' hair.

It was mainly the maknae line that had their hair sticking in every direction from the amount of times they had run their hands through it. I collected the cards from near the middle of the table so I could shuffle them as Namjoon pushed the pot money over to me.

Everyone nodded at the question.

“Alright! How much should we pay per card,” I asked as I shuffled the deck.

Taehyung was quick to answer, “5 bucks!”

Everyone’s head shot up at the suggestion while Jungkook, Jimin and Hobi abruptly stood up, almost knocking over their chairs.

"Absolutely not!” “That is too much money!”

I giggled as Jimin and Tae started to bicker and the others sat back down.

“5 bucks? Do you know how many ramen packs I can get with that,” Jungkook argued.

“I’m gonna have to side with Jungkook on this one. I don’t want to pull from my retirement fund yet,” Yoongi said, leaning back and crossing his arms.

“Yeah we don’t want to do that, he’s gonna need it soon,” Jin chimed in.

Yoongi threw a glare at him, “You’re older than me, you know that?”

I bursted out laughing at the disgusted face Jin made before Namjoon started telling us to calm down.

We looked over to him as he stated a proposal, “How about we do 2 dollars a card?”

“I’m down,” I said, taking out 2 dollars from my wallet.

Everyone followed my lead and started to dig around for their wallets before pulling out the amount they were going to pay. I put my two dollars in the middle of the table and got rid of my other two cards, leaving me with the one. I looked around as everyone was sorting their things and stopped at Jungkook.

“I only have a 5 dollar bill,” he said with a pout.

“Do you want 3 cards because I can give you a dollar or if you don’t, just take the change from the pile,”I offered.

He nodded, placing the five in the middle, “I’ll take three cards!” I nodded and pulled out another dollar from my wallet, throwing it in the middle.

Looking around, Hobi, Jimin and Tae had two cards, Jungkook had three, and Namjoon, Yoongi, Jin and I had one which made the grand total: 26 dollars.

“Alright, are we ready,” I asked as everyone nodded. I was about to call a card, but Hobi stopped me.

“Wait, can someone else call the cards?”

I looked at him, confused, “Why?”

“Because you’re the only one that’s been calling cards and you’ve won almost every round.”

“That’s because no one wants to call the cards, but if it makes you feel better… I’ll let you shuffle,” I said, moving to hand him the cards, “And Namjoon can call out the cards, okay?”

I looked over to Namjoon for confirmation as Hobi started to shuffle the deck, he nodded. Once Hobi was done shuffling he handed them over to Namjoon, who started to call out the cards.

It had been a while and no one had cleared their entire card yet, so I looked over and saw that Namjoon had already gone through half of the deck.

“How has no one won yet,” I asked, looking down at my car, that only needed a few more spots to be filled and then looked around.

“I don’t know, but I only need a couple more to win,” Jimin spoke up and the other nodded in agreement.

A few more cards were laid down and the tension was building. Everyone was on the edge of their seats as Namjoon started to near the end of the deck until…

“Buenas!” I cheered as I covered the last spot I needed to completely fill out my card. The guys groaned and fell back into their chairs as I happily collected the money.

“That’s not fair,” Tae groaned.

I laughed, “That’s how it goes.”

I grabbed my wallet and got up, “Well I’m hungry, so I’m gonna go to the convenience store.”

Jungkook and Tae shot up, following me immediately.

“Can you get us something,” Jungkook asked as they both looked at me with puppy dog eyes.

I squinted before sighing, “Fine.”

I was about to step through the door, but stopped and looked at the others, “Are you guys gonna come too?”

They all got up and followed me to the door. I sighed again as we started to walk to the convenience store.

“I’m only getting you ramen, okay?”

“Yay," they all cheered.

Introducing the Kataang Week 2023 Bingo Challenge!

Kataang Week 2023 starts on Monday, July 24th and ends on Monday, July 31st.

Please refer to the main Kataang Week 2023 information post for more details on rules etc.

This year we decided to add in a little extra challenge for everyone wanting to participate!

We’ve created a bingo card (put together by Mod Celes @chocomd) with all 7 official prompts (excluding the 8th day which is a free day), a free space, and a space for an alternative prompt.

Feel free to use the blank bingo card at the top of this post.

What is the bingo challenge?

The Kataang Week 2023 bingo challenge is an additional challenge introduced for this year’s Kataang Week that anyone can participate in if they want to.

The challenge is to get bingo! You can have 3 in a row from across the card, up and down, or diagonal, similar to a real bingo card.

Complete as many prompts as possible to get bingo, multiple bingos, or even complete the whole card.

Complete the alternative prompt on Free Day to add more challenge if you’d like.

Each day you complete a prompt, mark your bingo card and post it with that day’s submission.

Things are operating very similar to the first round, but please click the Read More below to refresh yourself on the way this event runs.

Due to the nature of all media and works within this event, it is only for those that are 18 and older – upon signing up you acknowledge that you are not a minor.

Any kind of hate (kink bashing/shaming, harassment, toxic behaviour, etc.) will not be tolerated at any point. There will be no warnings given and if proven to have exhibited any disagreeable behaviours, you will be removed from the event.

Tag your works accordingly. We expect explicit works, and that will contain squicks, triggers, etc. We believe in Kinktomato here. YKINMKATOK (Your Kink Is Not My Kink (And That’s OK) but you are responsible for advising our readers what to expect.

This event, as always, is open to any and all pairings that involve our favourite murder muffin! If you’re finding that inspiration isn’t coming to you with just Bucky, we will also allow up to two squares per card to feature a different Sebastian Stan persona (Sebastian himself, Steve Kemp, Max Burnett, etc.)

The AU’s are entirely up to your interpretation, so long as they are featured prominently in your creation.

What is a Connect Four event?

Simple! It’s very similar to a Bingo Event, where you will receive a card with four categories.

What happens if we finish our card?

You can request additional cards! Please only request a new card once you have finished your current card. If you are not happy with the prompts on your card, please request a swap for that square/those squares. You can request one swap per card, up to four squares (yes, you can ask for a whole new card).

If there's a square you don't vibe with, please use our Square Swap Form to begin the process of either requesting up to 2 new squares, or an entirely new card. The email must include your username, card number and the square + prompt you are purging from your card.

Can we use a fill for another event as well (ie. another bingo, etc)?

Absolutely! So long as the other event allows it, we have no rules against cross-posting.

How do I post to the AO3 collection?

Under collections (when posting), type in Connect 4: Into an Alternate June-iverse or Connect4AU

You can also add your work directly from the collection by going to https://archiveofourown.org/collections/Connect4AURound2 and selecting “post to collection” on the top right.

What fills are accepted?

Any creative media is accepted:

Fics Moodboards Digital / traditional art (sketches, too)! Playlists Etc.

If there is a medium not listed that you want to create and you’re not sure about, shoot us an ask and we will add it to the list!

All work must be newly uploaded to count towards the fill (no entering a fic you published a few months ago, for example). They may count towards already existing AU’s that you write for (a new chapter for an ongoing fic), or they can be something brand new – it is entirely up to you.

ALL ENTRIES MUST BE YOUR OWN WORK.

What pairings are allowed?

Any. Whether that be /Reader, /Steve, /Reader/Steve, /Natasha, /Clint – so long as Bucky is still the main character.

Is there a limit to submissions?

Absolutely not. You are free to create as many works / pieces of media that you feel inspired for – whether that be 5 fics for a Mafia AU square, or 10. It does not matter.

"Steve dropped heavily onto the couch; he couldn't stop thinking. Yeah, you had done all you could, but at the end of the day, Ross was still so stubborn that he wouldn't accept his mistake. Neither he nor you were heroes in the end; even though there was no longer a warrant for your arrest, he didn't even know what you were going to do.

“Professor," you said as you walked in. You hadn't been able to be in your home for almost three years, and now it felt a little strange to be there.

“What? "

“You could be a history professor; that would be interesting, or martial arts, or self-defense," you suggested.

“History would be interesting," Steve commented.

“You start next Monday; I'm sure your students will be very excited.

“What? How?" Steve was confused.

“A friend of mine told me she needed professors; you know, because of the Snap, and well, we already have a job," you replied.

“Do we have a job?"

“I'll be the martial arts professor," you winked.

Steve smiled; at least he wouldn't have to wonder what he was going to do next.

A Woman in Charge- Bradley Rooster Bradshaw x Reader

Summary: The wifi cuts out during your workday so you go to the next best place to finish up your work calls: the Hard Deck. Rooster shamelessly eavesdrops on your work call...and he likes what he hears.

You sigh, locking your car in the parking lot and slinging your work bag over your shoulder. The wifi going out before your final few meetings of the day was not on your bingo card this afternoon. Knowing the local coffee shops would be overridden with afternoon patrons, you headed to your local dive, the Hard Deck, where you figured you could post up unbothered before the 5 o'clock rush.

Waving to Penny as you walk in, you motion to your work bag, "All good if I bum your wifi off of you if I order a beer?"

Penny laughs, writing down the wifi passcode and sliding it across the bar top, "No purchase necessary, hun. You're here plenty to earn your right to wifi.'' Laughing gratefully, you find a seat at the corner of the bar and open your laptop, carefully pulling your prep notes from your bag. You see your direct report's name pop up on your screen with an incoming call and you quickly grab your headphones.

"Chloe, hi," You greet, shifting your laptop to get the camera to the best possible angle.

"Hey," She greets, then squints looking at you, "Are you...at a bar?"

You laugh, explaining your wifi dilemma and she nods, "Wait, isn't that the navy bar?"

You shrug, "Yeah, I guess it is."

Chloe smiles gleefully. Although she was based out of the East Coast, her sister lived in San Diego. "Oh girl, I hope you score a hot man tonight." "Hey now, I'm still your boss," You joke, before stirring the conversation back on course. "So what's up?"

Chloe sighs, then divulges the latest messages between her and the creative director that you were due to meet with in 15 minutes. "So he's saying the project won't be prioritized. And then proceeded to lecture me on how to best submit requests 'on time.' And that once I'm with the company longer, I'll understand how it works." You roll your eyes. As a boss, you weren't afraid to show your mutual frustrations. "You did submit the request on time though," You say, "In fact, I remember you submitting it early."

Chloe nods, "I did! And that's what I was going to say. But he just kept turning the conversation back to prioritization and made me feel like my work wasn't important."

You see her shoulders deflate and you feel frustration wash over you. You were still, by all accounts, "young." As a 27 year old, you were by no means a "well seasoned" adult. But you had been in the corporate world longer than fresh-faced, recent grad, Chloe. You remembered what it felt like to be in her shoes.

"Are you okay if I run point on this meeting, Chloe?" You check, "I don't want to overstep, but I'd love to be able to weigh in on how your work is being...'prioritized.'" You finger quote the last word, which gets a cackle out of Chloe. She nods, "Oh by all means." You wrap up with Chloe and end the call. Sifting through your notes, you listen to your work playlist as you gear up for your next meeting. You knew it was never easy working with Dan, the creative director. He was condescending and quite frankly, sexist. The way he treated Chloe made your blood boil. You knew exactly how it felt, you had been on the receiving end of it. But enough was enough.

You were so caught up in your notes and (fucking amazing) playlist, that you don't notice the group of naval aviators enter the Hard Deck.

Penny greets them with a smile, "Cutting out early today?" She asks looking at her watch, "It's only 3:45." Hangman laughs, leaning against the bar top, "Grueling day with the new class. Mav wasn't easy on them." "A round for everyone, then?" She asks and receives a chorus of yeses. "Up for some pool, Rooster?" Phoenix asks, only to be promptly ignored.

Rooster was locked in on you, seated at the far end of the bar, laptop opened and mouth pulled down in a frown. He was struck by how beautiful you were, but even more so, how adorable you looked with your brow furrowed. "Helloooo?" Phoenix shakes his shoulders with a laugh. "Oh, sorry, what?" Rooster runs a hand through his hair and returns his gaze to his best friend.

"She's pretty," Phoenix says with a knowing smirk.

"She really is," Rooster agrees, leaning on the bar and returning a shameless stare.

"Bradley!" Penny scolds, and he jumps, "Let the woman work." Phoenix and Hangman, having witnessed the encounter, both bark out loud laughs at Rooster's blushing face.

"I — I," He stutters, and Penny just grins at him like a cheshire cat.

"You can talk to her after she's done working. Now shoo," She waves her dishrag at him and he shuffles away with his tail between his legs.

You wait for the clock to hit 4, and then you promptly enter the work call, leaving your camera off.

You wait for the greetings, and then unmute yourself, "Thanks for hopping on everyone." You start, "Sorry for the background noise and lack of camera. My wifi went out so I had to relocate and it seems to have gotten a bit busy here.” You pause to adjust your headphones, “Just wanted to meet to discuss our upcoming projects and see where we can land on prioritization. Would love to hear from Dan's side what's top of mind, then we can share what's top of mind for us, and hopefully reach a game plan. Sound good?" Unbeknownst to you, Rooster was listening to your every word. Standing just a few feet to the left of you, he sipped his beer and "watched" Hangman and Phoenix square off in pool.

He smirked at how confident you sounded leading the meeting, and didn't miss the way you clearly rolled your eyes at something that was being said on the call. He figured your camera must be off given the eye roll and the constant tapping of your fingers against the bar top, seemingly out of frustration. He wanted to see you get worked up over him.

"Can I jump in for a second, Dan?" You say, a slight edge to your voice. Dan had been on a tangent about team priorities, but had dropped in a not-so-subtle slight towards Chloe and her short tenure at the company. Waiting for him to stop talking, you continue, "I understand how your team can only work on so much at once. What I'm getting confused about though is how Chloe's tenure here has any weight on where her project stands. We have presented this plan to many teams, including the CEO, and they have all expressed interest and are bought-in. In fact, given the cross-functional buy in this project has, the predicted impact, and the deadline we're facing, I would argue this should be the team's top priority."

Bradley's jaw is practically dropped at this point, listening to how assertive but eloquently you argued for your direct report. If he had to be honest, it was probably one of the hottest things he'd ever seen. He definitely wouldn't mind being bossed around by you. Hell, he had to stop himself from crawling on his hands and knees over to your barstool just to be ordered around by you. Ending your call you smile, knowing the case was strong and getting additional support from the others on the call. Dan had no choice but to cave, although he didn't seem happy about it. Your laptop lights up with one more incoming call from Chloe and you promptly answer.

"OH MY GOD." She says, and you laugh. "That was AMAZING." You shrug, and let out a breath, "Hey, I need to stand up for my directs. Plus, your project has way more buy-in than half of the things they have on their to-do list. Just gotta stand your ground sometimes. I won't stand for people talking to my teammates like that. It's not okay." Chloe smiles gratefully, "Well, thank you again. I'm going to finish up that deck we talked about earlier and I'll see you Monday?"

"Sure thing," You smile and wave goodbye, checking the time to see it was 5:15. Shutting your laptop, you wave Penny over, "I think I'll go for that beer now." Penny laughs, but dodges your credit card as you hand it over to start a tab, "That man over there has you covered," She says with a smirk.

Confused, you turn around to see a tall, gorgeous man heading your way. His lips are quirked up in a crooked smile, his top lip covered by a perfectly groomed mustache.

"Beer's on me," He greets, hovering over the stool next to you, and you look up at him with a small smile, "I've gotta say, I may or may not have been listening to your work call.” You pretend to be scandalized by throwing a hand over your heart and a mock offended expression crosses your face. “That is an invasion of privacy,” you scold teasingly.

The man laughs and continues, "All I'm saying is, you run a tight ship." You smirk, turning to face him, "And you are?" He smiles looking to the seat next to you and points to it. You nod your head, and he sits down next you, "Bradley Bradshaw, at your service ma'am."

God, he was charming. You offer up your name and hand and he shakes it firmly.

“So tell me,” he says leaning towards you, “Have you always been able to finesse what you want, or did that take practice?”

You decide to give into his playful banter, “Oh, I get what I want most of the time,” You answer, “I’ve found most people tend to fall in line with a little persuasion.”

Bradley nods at that, “I can certainly see why,” he all but whispers.

You hold his gaze until you feel your cheeks start to warm and a blush stains your face.

“Tell you what,” You say, standing up, and trying to maintain your cool, “I’ve got plans with my friend tonight, but I’m free tomorrow. I’ll meet you back here tomorrow night, same time?”

Bradley nods instantly, “Sounds like a plan.”

You smile and start to pack up your work bag, “Good. Thanks for the beer, Bradley.”

He watches you walk out, and then it hits him: you’ve got him in the palm of your hand, and there’s truly no other place he’d rather be.

EL BAILE Y EL SALÓN

miguel o’hara x reader

summary; the one time miguel o’hara let’s loose, he falls in love.

note; this was heavily inspired by the song el baile y el salón by café tacvba, english is not my first language, she/her pronouns used, and again, bare with me, not proofread.

word count; 1.2k

‘The night was still early’ was what Peter B. Parker said as he stood up and went to the dance floor, drink in hand. Peter had finally made Miguel leave his comfortable desk space, using some lame excuse to party at the nearest bar on his dimension. Something about breaking a record for weekly anomalies or along the lines of that.

Miguel thought that was just a lame excuse to spend the night out since he was free of MJ that night, but he didn’t say anything. It was actually true that they had captured and replaced anomalies on new record weekly, but he let it slide since maybe he needed some time to let loose.

In reality, Peter just wanted to know how many drinks it would take to make the incredible and stoic Miguel O’Hara let loose?

The answer is 7.

1. The ‘fit in’ drink.

Miguel had no reasonable excuse to not carry a drink around while being in a pub and ‘celebrating’, at least that was what Peter said as he shoved the drink into Miguel’s hand, who just looked at him with a deadpan face and took the drink with a grimace.

The drink was casually sipped on, and lasted until the second toast that Peter made, who was already a few drinks in.

2. The ‘round that came with the conversation’ drink.

Peter B. was now excitedly chatting away the other guys that tagged along on the ‘celebration’, that were just another bunch of Peter’s and Ben’s, and he nodded at one of the waiters, asking for another round and Miguel found himself with another drink shoved into his hand.

The conversation kept him mostly distracted, thats until his attention was redirected to the female across the room in the bar.

This drink was sipped on a little bit more frequently than the first drink.

3. The ‘liquid courage’ drink.

A tipsy Peter B. Parker had somehow managed to catch on the lingering stare of Miguel, that crossed the room. He followed it as best as he could in his tipsy state, and ended up in an empty chair, but then decided to move his attention a little to the left and bingo. A very fat and ugly man sat there, Peter scrunched up his face. He then decided in going a little to the right, he finally saw her.

A grin appeared on Peter’s face, as he turned to look back at Miguel, who held an almost empty drink as he subtly looked at her across the room.

“Miguel, my man!” Peter started as he walked over at him and sat by his side, arm slung around his shoulders. “How you holding up, big guy? Having fun?” Peter patted Miguel’s chest as he wiggled his eyebrows.

“It’s nice.” Miguel said as he looked at Peter B. and placed the now empty drink on the table in front of them.

“Oh, I bet it is.” Peter continued as he took a sip of his own drink. “Who’s that pretty girl over there?” He asked as he turned to look at Miguel’s face.

“You’re drunk.”

“Tipsy, that’s all. Now, tell me. Has that pretty girl over there caught your eye?”

“You tell me.” Miguel muttered as he crossed his arms and looked away.

“She has.” Peter said excitedly. “Go talk to her!”

“No.”

“What do you mean ‘no’!?”

“I’m not talking to you about this.”

“You’re shy.”

“Don’t.”

“You just need a tiny-bit of liquid courage my friend.”

“I don’t.”

“Waiter! Get me some liquid courage for my friend here!”

This drink was downed in one go, forced by Peter, who weirdly seemed to know exactly what Miguel was thinking.

4. The ‘for good measure’ drink.

“Feeling ready?”

“Not really, no.”

“Get me another one!”

This drink was also downed in one go, this time, a little bit more willing from Miguel’s part.

5. The ‘Can I buy you a drink?’ drink.

Miguel approached the bar, casually ending up on the empty chair next to her. He eyed her for a second, two pairs of eyes clashing and small smiles were exchanged, she turned and now faced him entirely.

“Miguel O’Hara.”

She introduced herself after that, stretching his hand with a smile on her lips.

“Can I buy you a drink?” He asked as he tilted his head in the direction of the bartender.

“Another one of these would be fine.” She said as she lifted her almost empty drink and smiled at Miguel.

Moments later, both of them sat at the bar stools, new drinks in hand, and small talk being started. Both getting closer by each passing moment, leaning into each other trying to hear what the other says over the loud music.

This drink was downed pretty fast, after spending fifteen minutes waiting for Miguel that was mostly caught up by the conversation he was having.

6. The ‘second round’ drink.

New drinks in hand. Both of them still sat as the bar stools, but this time laughs were being shared.

“I don’t believe you.”

“You better do! I never got over it. I mean, who comes to work with two different shoes on?”

“At least, were they the same height?”

“Not at all.”

Real genuine laughs, lingering stares from one another while the other one took a sip from their drink. Now both had a slightly flirtatious tone on the conversation.

Peter B. Parker, saw every movement they both made from the background. A proud smile made way to his lips as he saw Miguel laughing with her.

This drink was downed exactly like the last one, though this time Miguel now had a grin on his lips the whole time.

7. The ‘Would you like to dance?’ drink

The conversation between them was really good, not a single moment of awkward silence nor any awkwardness between them. Now they both were looking at each other, talking casually, not as many laughs as before, but the interest was there.

They both had another drink on their hands, smiles on their lips. Both of them were tipsy, but it didn’t really matter.

“Would you like to dance?” She asked as she got closer to him, talking into his ear.

“Let’s go.” He answered as he finished the drink and placed the empty cup on the bar.

They both smiled as Miguel pulled at her hand, to make sure she followed and didn’t got too far away from him. They ended up in the dance floor, bodies close and moving at the rhythm of the music.

“You dance really well, Miguel.” She talked into his ear, a smile on her lips.

“Part of the job.” He said with a laugh as he pulled her closer.

Miguel had read somewhere that ‘el amor es bailar’ and maybe now that made sense, as he looked at her with a smile on his lips, both getting closer and closer.

He was speechless, as she moved to the music, her arms wrapped around him, showing him how love is dancing.

Smiles were shared, and as either of them did a particularly funny move, laughs were shared.

They kissed while dancing, in the middle of the place, while the song was reaching the end.

Who would have thought that after the first dance he would fall in love.

“Drink, now,” snapping his fingers, one of the guests' barks orders at the waitress. The poor girl flinches, and hurriedly walks away. You can’t blame her, though. Your boss didn’t tell you all the people at the party will be rude, self-centered, and well, complete douches. “You, come back.”

“Sir, can I help you?” you’re not a waitress, but try to help your colleague out. “What do you want? Bourbon, Whiskey, some manners?”

“What did you just say,” he slowly turns around, and the hairs on your neck stand as the tall alpha turns his attention toward you. “Repeat yourself, BETA!” He can’t scent you and immediately assumes you are only a beta.

“I asked you if you want a drink, Sir,” you try to not show you despise men like him. Rich. Spoiled. Aggressive. His suit is tailor-made, and his Tom Ford shoes cost more than half of your wardrobe, still, he lacks in manners. “Sir.”

“Where is the other girl? The cute and submissive one,” he chuckles as you make a face. Alphas are even worse than rich men. “What? Don’t you like to be a good girl too?”

“If you don’t want a drink, I’ll leave and take care of the food I made for the party. Choose now, Sir,” you’re slowly losing your patience here. Usually, you are a friendly and patient person, but this guy is getting on your nerves with his cocky smirk and the way he looks down at you.

“Nah, I don’t want you to serve me a drink. Send one of the cute girls over here,” you huff, but bite your tongue.

“I’ll look if anyone is free to serve you your drink,” turning to leave, you ignore the alpha huffs behind your back. “If not, over there is a bar. You can always get yourself a drink. You’re a grown man after all.”

He growls as you make your way back toward the buffet to check on the food. You smile to yourself as you just stood your ground against the tall and bulgy alpha.

“What a rude guy,” one of the waitresses complains. “Why is the boss never around if you need them. Three guys tried to feel me up, and another poured his drink over my shirt, yelling wet t-shirt contest.”

“Grown men acting like horny teens when in a pack,” you quip. “Go and get a new shirt from the trunk of my car. I’ll cover for you meanwhile. I always bring spare clothes with me. One of the shirts should be your size.”

She smiles softly as you hand her the keys to your car. “Thank you so much, Y/N,” she coos. “I’ll be right back, promised.”

“Take your time, I’ve got this,” taking her tray you flash her a smile. “It’s no problem at all.”

While your colleague moves to the back entrance, you start to make your round. You offer drinks to drunk guys, avoid getting groped, and put on your sweetest fake smile.

“Out of my way,” you yelp as someone runs you over. He pushes you out of his way, ignoring you ended up on the ground, crying out in pain. Out of the corner of your eye, you recognize the alpha you angered some hours ago.

“Miss. Shit,” another man makes his way through the people crowding you. “Someone, call an ambulance. Her hand is bleeding, and the fingers don’t look good.” The man strips his jacket off to put it under your head. “Miss do not move too much. I’m afraid your arm is broken. Looks bad.”

You whimper as you glance at your bleeding arm. “I tried to catch my fall,” you sniffle. “It hurts.”

“I know, doll,” the man runs his hand over your hair. “The ambulance will be here in a minute, okay.”

“Okay.”

“Clint, move your ass and check if they are on their way. I want them here in two minutes,” you flinch at his outburst. “It’s okay. They will help you, doll. This looks like a FOOSH injury to me. I broke my hand when I was a kid. I fell and tried to catch my fall.”

“I—” the pain is overwhelming, and the scent hitting you from behind your back doesn’t help. You can sense the alpha from before and it makes you curl into a ball.

“Sir, you can’t fire me! I broke my hand at one of your parties! Who will make your canapes now?” he shrugs, ignoring that you tear up. It was your dream to open your own catering firm, just not so soon. “Please, I need the job.”

“You are fired,” he points at your hand. “You’re useless to me with a broken hand. If you want to sue me, you can try.” Now he smirks darkly. “Go ahead, beta. We will see what happens if you do.”

“Fuck you,” you twirl around to storm out of his office, cursing his birth on your way out. “What do I do now?”

“Steve, you must apologize to the poor girl! I was at her boss’ office, and she got fired because of you. You broke her fucking hand,” Bucky growls at his best friend. “What’s wrong with you lately? Only as Peggy left you for some beta, you can’t run that girl over and just move on.”

“I didn’t know she got fired,” Steve sighs deeply. “She was a feisty bitch, and I was mad at her. I didn’t want to hurt her, though.”

“You saw her on the ground and didn’t do shit, Steve. Why?”

“Buck, you already took care of her. The moment I stepped closer she curled into a ball, and I didn’t want to scare her even more. I’m not some asshole hurting a girl on purpose. I just—” running his fingers through his hair Steve sighs deeply. “I saw Peggy at the party, in the arms of yet another man. She was on her way out of the back entrance when I ran the girl over.”

“Fine,” Bucky says. “Either way, you will apologize to her. Here’s her address. Buy some flowers and go to the girl.”

“What? I can’t just stand on her doorstep Buck. What will she do?” Steve makes a face. “Punk, she will call the cops or worse.”

“What’s worse than ending up in jail, Stevie,” the brunette smirks. “Come on, spill it.”

“What if she freaks out or cries. Bucky, she will believe I hurt her on purpose. How can she not? I can’t go to her,” hands-on his hips Steve tries to stay adamant. “I can send her flowers, though.”

“You will not send her flowers, Steven Grant Rogers,” Bucky just used his alpha voice on his friend, making Steve growl in response. “We are friends since childhood, but this doesn’t mean I will not beat you into a pulp. Be a man and apologize.”

“Fuck’s sake,” taking the piece of paper with you address out of Bucky’s hands, the blonde alpha grumbles under his breath. “Which flowers do you want me to buy?”

“Be creative, Steve. Go to a flower shop and tell them you ran the poor girl over. Find flowers telling her I’m sorry for running you over and that I was a douche…”

“Red roses, lilies, gerbera, asters, and squills,” Steve clears his throat as he stands in front of your door with a huge bouquet in his arms. “Squills say forgive me for being a rude douche the best.”

He straightens his tie with his free hand, not knowing why he’s nervous. You are just a random girl he ran over at a party. Steve takes a deep breath as he lifts his fist to knock at your door.

“Coming,” you coo from the other side of the door. “What can I—? You?” looking the alpha up and down, you frown deeply. “What do you want here?”

“Uh—I,” he huffs before pushing the flowers in your hand. “I came to apologize. I didn’t want to run you over. You see, girl.” He clears his throat, tugging at his tie, “I saw someone from my past and wanted to—”

“You wanted to what, Sir?”

“Honestly,” he nervously laughs, “I don’t know. She left me for some beta, telling me I’m too aggressive and rough. He looks down at his hands, shaking his head. “Maybe she was right. I was rude to the waitress and you for no reason. Then I ran you over.”

“I don’t know why you came here. You shouldn’t buy me flowers,” you step back when Steve moves toward you. “Stay away from me.”

“Doll,” you scrunch up your nose at the pet name. It’s the same the other man used at the party, “I’m sorry I ran you over. Can I come in and we can talk things out?”

“No. I’m good. Really,” like hell. You will not let a foreign alpha step inside your apartment. “Thanks for the flowers and all. My hand is barely hurting, and I’ll find a job in no time. No biggie.”

“Let me inside,” he cocks his head as you seem to react to his alpha voice. Betas usually don’t hear the difference or smell his scent changes when he’s angry or nervous. “Girl, what are you hiding.” He’s sizing you up now. “Something is odd about you.”

“Ah, ha-ha…thanks for the compliment. You have a way to apologize, that’s a fact,” you try to get rid of the alpha, hoping he will just leave. “Listen, you can go now. Please.”

“Bucky said I must make sure you are alright,” Steve takes another step toward your door and another until he’s so close you can feel his breath on your face. “Let me check on you.”

“I’m good,” swallowing thickly you try to hide that his scent makes your toes curl. “I got a nice cast around my hand, and all.”

“I don’t even know your name,” shit, he cups the back of your neck and rubs his thumb over your mating gland, humming. “I knew it. You’re omega. A feisty little thing too.”

“You need to go. Now,” while you fight your hindbrain and try not to give in to the alpha, he dips his head to press his nose to your scent gland. “Go—please.” You whimper.

“What’s your name?”

“Y/N.”

“I’m Steve. Now let me in and we can talk about what happened at the party. I want to know why you are using a scent blocker to hide from your alpha.”

“You’re not my alpha,” pushing against his chest with your working hand you try to make the alpha budge. “I mean it. Go home!”

“I can scent you, doll. It’s a faint scent, but it’s enough to let me know you are mine,” he doesn’t expect you to slap his cheek hard when he tries to kiss you.

“Dude! I don’t even know you. Get a hold of yourself, Sir,” Steve smirks as you straighten your oversized sleep shirt. “Now, if you would excuse me. I want to go back to sleep.”

“I want to come in. Please let me show you that I didn’t want to hurt you, Y/N.”

“Why would I? You’re a stranger who just tried to get grabby,” you push against his chest, making him stumble back. “If you want to get to know me better, come back. If not, leave me alone.”

You slam the door in his face. “What the fuck just happened?” Steve stands there in stunned silence, laughing as you are the first woman rejecting him.

Ninbingo Round 3

Time Frame: 4 months (June - Sept.)

For: Artists, Writers, Creators

Description: Creators are given a bingo board of prompt squares and check off squares by creating different art pieces for them. Ninbingo’s theme is found family, so all works must center around that theme to be recognized officially

Fic Fest

Time Frame: 1-3 months (Length and date TBD by vote)

For: Writers

Description: Writers choose from a list of submitted prompts, and at the end of the event, all fics are posted together. You would be able to prompt for this event without writing and visa-versa.

Fic Fight!

Time Frame: 1 month (Date TBD by vote)

For: Writers

Description: Ever heard of Art Fight? This is the same thing but for writers. Writers are divided into two teams and write fics based on the opposing team’s prompts, winning points based on length, polish, and amount of attacks.

If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask :D Once an event is picked, more details will be ironed out for that specific one. Excited for 2024!

April, Come She Will

It is not an April Fools Joke! With a new month upon us, we’ve got a new set of Challenges and Adoptables! If you haven’t signed up to participate in Stucky Bingo Round 5, it is not too late! Fill out this form to get your own shiny card.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Monthly Challenges, here are the rules:

At the beginning of each month during the round, we will put out three (3) prompts. You can use one, two, or all three prompts along with a square from your bingo card, and you will earn a badge created for the theme!

April prompts are:

Diamond

Pranks/Practical Jokes

Trip Planning

Once you have completed the challenge, fill out the submission form as you usually would for a bingo fill, and be sure to check at the bottom to say that it's part of the monthly challenge. These prompts are to be used in conjunction with a square on your bingo card, not in place of one.

Ten (10) SFW adoptable prompts are available below. Anyone who has already signed up for a bingo card can adopt one (no need to tell us you are claiming it until you fill out the submission form) and use it as they see fit to replace another prompt on their card.

But before you go crazy, there are two rules:

1) You can only adopt one (1) prompt per month. This includes anything from the ⁠NSFW adoptables, which are only available to view on our Discord server to those who are 18+

2) The prompt must be completed and submitted before the end of the month. Any Adopted prompts submitted after the month they are issued will be ignored. If you are having issues with submitting an adopted prompt before the end of the month, please let us know by ⁠Discord or email.
