Hi I'm rewatching Psych (2006) and have found some glaring similarities between Shawn Spencer and Bruce Wayne:

Before Jason, before even Dick, there was a Robin. Well, not quite a Robin that was named Robin, but a sort of side-kick to Batman, though she stayed away from the spotlight and was essentially the cryptid to the cryptid.

Passerine, she was called.

No one but Bruce Wayne were quite sure what happened that made Passerine's rumours die fully down, as if they weren't always bottom of the barrel.

Bruce liked to avoid the topic, a whole lot, in fact, but when you have a family full of detectives, a concerning amount of who had been trained at one point or another by assassin's, keeping a secret, even if you're Batman, is hard.

Turns out, while on a mission Passerine had accidentally killed someone. How? He report didn't specify, but she did, and Bruce had gotten upset.

Being 14 at the time, Passerine got angry and ran-- apperently Jasons' story isn't that original-- and she ran right into Amity Park, where she would die.

Bruce regretted every single word he had said that day, how he hadn't heard Passerine out, how he was overwhelmed by Passerine breaking her promise never to kill anyone, how bad of a parent he was.

When Jason became Red Hood, Bruce made sure not to make the same mistake. Try and hear Jason out, never forcefully drive him away, because he wasn't going to lose Jason like he lost Passerine.

A few years later, they begin investigations into Amity Park, mostly Damian, so he can learn about Passerine, how well she would've kept up in a fight, and to see why Father had let her be the first sidekick, and not tell Grayson about it.

He found about a hero, Phantom, who, despite his powers, fought much like a bat was taught to fight. Like Passerine. Researching more, he found a clip from a Pride Parade held in Amity Park, where Phantom was wearing a transgender pride flag like a cape for the entirety of the celebration.

And when comparing the physical features of Phantom and Passerine, they matched. Well, bar the shorter hair and flatter chest.

He shows his findings to the rest of the family, who agree that they should investigate more-- possibly because Phantom seemed very powerful-- so they go to Amity Park, without Bruce, because they figured it was best not to.

In the first 5 hours of arriving there, there was an attack that none other but Phantom cut short. They locked eyes.

That was undeniably Passerine, though barely recognizable with the shorter hair and complete change, but she-- he still looked 14, as if he had died only a day ago. Not ages ago.

A few ghost hunters cut their staring short, causing Phantom to fly away.

All the bats in Amity Park make communicate with Phantom their top priority.

Meanwhile, Danny Phantom is freaking out(TM) because those were the bats, what were they doing in Amity and why did they make him so easily??

Some idea I had stuck in my head for the past few days where Danny died and didn't age, but still became Phantom.

Also, in my AU, Danny's deadname isn't Danielle, so I didn't want to use that for his deadname, so I just said Passerine.

Is me agaaaain~ o/ I'm back on my nonsense and practicing my writing! Had Thoughts(tm).

While Civilian Tim is my Beloved♡. You know what ELSE doesn't get explored enough? Betas in ABO fics! The overlooked everyman. The common masses. Not SPECIAL enough.

Expected to bow to the whims of Alphas and cater to, nay, CODDLE Omegas. To fall in line and be lead. Subservient. Nature's wallpaper in the Grand Drama of Alpha and Omegas.

All because they don't have to suffer a heat or rut. All because they didn't get that few extra organs and a hormonal boost. As though there aren't superhumans and aliens running around.

Everyone talking about Pack this and Pack that. About how IMPORTANT it is. How PRECIOUS. Only to stutter to a stop and dismiss you when you bring up Betas. Because they're focused on what THEY decided were the Protagonists of Life. And who CARES about the rest of us, huh?

We're just foot soliders and drones.

And Tim's parents expected an Alpha son. Had plans, of course, for the unthinkable. An Omega. But when he tested positive for likely presenting as a Beta? Humanity's MOST COMMON presentation? It's like he became worthless to them. Was assumed destined to fail. To be weak and unworthy.

Because of his genitals. His hormones.

Because he DIDNT stink up the house.

On the bright side, he gets away with a LOT. The down side? He is a very, VERY smart child with a chip on his shoulder. Little time for the dramatics of life's Specialist Babies.

When Bruce won't LISTEN to Robin? Because (and he can only assume) "hur dur me big strong head alpha. Me always right!" Well FUCK Batman! He stuffs Wayne Manor with picture print outs of HARD EVIDENCE showing Robin did No Such Thing!

When ROBIN apparently decided to flee in the night like some Victorian Omega Waif to locations unknown? Non-emergency JLA number, bitch. He knows it. Get Superman'd.

The Bats seem to settle. His Parents come and go. He hacks their emails and changes their Wills. If THEY won't take him seriously, HE will do it for both of them. Like HELL is he letting them pawn HIS company off to someone else.

Then Haiti happens.

And... he wish he could say he was surprised when he didn't even notice, until he was told. They were never Pack. That would require his Parents to have TRIED. To have CARED.

Bereavement services try to coddle him. Alphas, like VULTURES, circle. Trying to "guide" the poor RICH young Beta in his time of emotional vulnerability. If there weren't cameras, he would bite. Parasites. All of them.

The Omegas are no better. Showing up, "concerned" for him. Trying to feed him and coddle him like an infant pup. Insert themselves into his life. He gets a cold and rather nasty reputation, rather quickly.

Thank god for fake, Alpha, uncles. Social services were making noises about "supportive families" and the "need for pack bonds when grieving". Ha! So say the Alphas, he notes. The Omegas. There Beta co-workers were pretty silent. But when have they ever noticed THAT?

Strangely enough, and you'll be SHOCKED, really, his Uncle FULLY supported Tim in all he did! How Odd! He rises to become the youngest CEO in the country.

He fires half his board outright. They're corrupt and worse? Bad at business. Chosen because "Alphas are natural leaders". His ASS they are. The business take a hit, of course, lots of speculation and scathing articles. At least they do until Drake Industries has RECORD breaking quarters.

Turns out hiring the legitimately qualified, makes for better business.

Who'd have THOUGHT!

He admits. He gets distracted, building the family (not Pack. Never Pack.) business to unprecedented heights. He no longer has TIME for his night time... bird watching. But he keeps an idle eye out. And they grow in number, not shrink. So it's probably fine.

But then? Not long after he's officially an adult. After his "Uncle" TRAGICALLY goes for a one man flight over international waters, for a "vay-cay" at the summer home, only to "perish" when the plane goes down? Who strolls into his office like he has ANY right to be there? Brucie "Secretly Batman" Wayne.

They don't have a meeting planned. Why is he HERE. Stinking up his office with Alpha Scent.

.....the plane was a Wayne Aeronautics design. Fuck(tm).

Bruce plays the "oh he feels SO GUILTY" card. Tim counters. Bruce is pulling out the Full Himbo. Clearly suspicious. Oh god damn it, batman thinks he's murdered his fake uncle. And, well, he DID. But there WAS no fake uncle!

Somehow Tim finds himself dragged to lunch. Brucie's arm casually slung over his shoulders. Great. Now he's going to stink for hours.

And Bruce? Is putting clues together. Timothy "The Dragon" Drake. Beta. Known to be actively hostile to both Alphas and Omegas alike. Rumors suggest Pack trauma or extreme bond loyalties. No scent but his own on him. Not even any lingering traces. His Uncle, supposedly his Alpha, never scented him?

That coupled with records suggesting a complete lack of bonds with his birth Pack and absence of scentmarkers...

Pack Trauma. Very, VERY Feral. Likely takes most Pack-bonding overtures as signs of aggression. Highly likely he killed his Uncle in response to either real or perceived aggression.

Bruce wonders how it slipped his notice. Slipped EVERYONE'S notice. Got this bad. He... already knows. The answer does not sit well with him. It's because Tim is a Beta. He grits his teeth. Others may have failed Timothy Drake, but he refuses too.

Tim wishes he WOULD. He feels harassed. Bruce is EVERYWHERE. And he's gotten his kids in on it. Tim's poor, poor office REAKS. He! REAKS! Why are they so TOUCHY??! Cease! Desist!

Worse? The questions about his "uncle" abruptly dry up about a week and a half in. Which means they DEFINITELY found some evidence that there was never an uncle. He has a pounding headache and HATES this. He was FINE on his own. Why does this have to happen NOW? At least they are leaving him alone currently. He pops some headache meds.

A shrill noise screeches in an echoing pitch throughout his office. Ow.

Wait.

Oh Fuck.

He scrambles for his phone. That is the Gotham Wide Alert. Who-? Ivy. Heading their way. He slams the building wide evac button, setting off alarms in every room in the tower. Gets up to grab his briefcase, his suit jacket, to evacuate with the rest of his company.

He turns, reaching, only to be met with vines, already rearing back to break his office windows.

CRASH.

Safety glass everywhere. Trying to run is pointless. Instinct still demands it. Living green as strong as steel beams has him around the waist. He is yanked backward out into open air. Hundreds of feet to the ground below him. Writhing Green has swallowed half his building already.

The alert was USELESS. "On her way" his ASS! His people are trapped!

The scent of flowers fills his nose...

His body feels... weird, when he manages to blink back to awareness. There are other CEOs. All of them are complete bastards. Arrogent nepotism picks to the last. Daddy's perfect Alpha offspring, handed the world. They're panting. Flushed. Sweaty and fighting the vines, humping... the.. air...

Oh, gross.

Where? Ivy. Talking to a camera. Gesturing to them. Tim struggles to concentrate. His head feels... soup. Slooshy and warm. Big ol skull of soup. One of the other CEOs is trying to reach him. Panting at him. He kicks. Disgusting! He thinks he hisses.

Ivy pauses. Turns to look at him. Squints.

He's not an alpha she declares. No shit. She shrugs. He'll still pay for- wait, WHAT!? That was Erkins! He FIRED that fucker! He's actively working to FIX the damage that idiot caused to the wetlands!

Soup brain saves the day. He's dragged to the side. Her bad, apparently. Hold that thought and she get you an antidote shortly. Now, where was she?

Letting the hostages go, says Batman.

Ivy disagrees. Violently.

It would be cool to watch up close, if Tim didn't feel like his skin was hypersensitive and damn near on fire. He feels nauseous. Please stop jostling him. He feels gross and sweaty. He... he THINKS? He's been Pollened?

He's heard it's the closest a Beta can get to being in Heat. And for Alphas and Omegas it can be lethal if not treated promptly. Of course, no one gives a SHIT that it's incredibly hard on a Betas body. Since, you know, they aren't MADE to go into heat! Oh god. He might puke.

Hands are cutting him free from his vine prison. Working his shirt and undershirt up enough to expose stomach. The pinch of a needle. The burning stops building. The nausea starts to fade. Tim cracks open an eye, no longer needing to grit everything closed to keep from hurling.

Nightwing. Omega.

He's brushing sweating hair back from Tim's face. Rubbing feeling back into Tim's limbs. He smells... nice? Good cologne on clean sheets. Normally Tim HATES being coddled. He doesn't feel good. He'll allow it.

Dick seems to be picking up on that. Is trying so, so hard not to look PLEASED and EXCITED that Tim is letting him take care of him. Scoops Tim up and is off before Bruce can tell him not too. Reprimand him for taking advantage of the situation.

It honestly doesn't even suprise Tim that Dick knows where he lives. Distantly he wonders if Dick even remembers that Tim is not supposed to know. That if he gets handsy as Nightwing, Dick will have to back off.

Deposited on his bed. It doesn't seem so.

Off go shoes and jacket, shirts and pants. Anything that might be infected or uncomfortable. He's brought water. Blankets nested around him. Limbs gently massaged. Dick looks GIDDY.

He still feels too hot and too cold. Uncomfortable.

Soothing noises, whispered against his skin. Hands trail down, following a skimming mouthing. Beneath the comforter pulled atop them to tuck him in. He can not see what-

He's swallowed alive. Hands gently, but without mercy, holding his hips still as an incredibly skilled mouth works his clit. Tim gasps for air. He might be shaking. Whimpers and cries dripping from his mouth as he tries desperately to rock up into the impossible heat consuming him.

Then long, calloused fingers are sliding inside of him. He.. he can't tell how to react. He's wet but not... his body doesn't MAKE slick. And yeah, it feel kinda... but does he...

The fingers angle. Pounding against SOMETHING and suddenly there are stars behind his eyes. Whimpering as he's finger fucked, eaten with in and inch of his life. He orgasms but... but it's not? Enough? W-why? Pollen. Oh god.

Dick is making soothing little noises. Pressing kisses to his face and neck. But if he's up here, how will he- Tim is pinned. Gently, sweetly, as Dick slides home.

He whines. High and displeased. Likes dislikes this. Dick shushs him. Rocking his hips. Kisses and kisses. Everything's okay. He's got you. But Tim refuses to settle.

The air of the room shifts, floors creek just slightly under heavy boots. Dick keeps rocking his hips, eyes locked with Bruce's. He's NOT going to get up. Timmy needs a pack. Needs LOVE. He's feels so, so good. And Dick is taking such good care of him. He NEEDS them.

And.. Can Bruce really argue? Tim is alone. Brilliant, gorgeous, and alone. Drifting over to scruff him? Can Bruce REALLY say he does not look like he was MEANT to be there? Beneath Dick. Soft and safe. Warm and loved? Taken care of by their pack?

He can't.

He scuffs his boy. HIS. And Tim goes limp, Dick shuddering on top of him. Face pressing against Bruce's hand, where it holds Tim's neck, arms hiking up Tim's hips. Thrusting for real. Putting his back into it.

Punching out cries from Tim with every slam against his spots. He can't move, scuffed as he is. Can only stare up. Watch as Batman, Bruce, watch HIM.

Watchs him getting... getting FUCKED. He sees Batman reach for something down the bed. Textured leather is rubbing against his clit, moments later. Dick groans in his ear as Tim spasms around him, Bruce's teasing making him tighter. I.. It's too much. Too vulnerable. Too much!

He being filled. He whines.

Gets a pack bite for his trouble, from Dick.

Then Dick's being shoo'd to the side and Tim is choking on air. Dicks cum the only thing making it slick enough. Beta's don't STRETCH like that! Big. Too big. Can't BREATHE.

But Bruce makes him breathe. Rocks and rocks until he's in. Until he's so full everything feels permanently different. Pressed down into a nest and trapped under a solid wall of Alpha. Whimpering, conquered, and held. Told over and over that Bruce has him. It's okay now.

Not enough ROOM to argue. To THINK. Whatever he wants.

He fuck Tim slow and careful. It's still almost enough to cry. But he promises not to knot him. He PROMISES. It would hurt him. Tear things. He won't hurt Tim. He whispers soothing noises. Holds Tim still, as he works himself in and out of a hot, perfect little vice.

Keeps his word. The knot stays OUT of Tim's poor, tight, little body. It'd never fit. He seed doesn't either. Gushing and spurting around the edges. Making Tim jerk and cry out. His abused little hole oozing thickly. Bruce bites him. Of course he does, he can't lose this chance.

They'll figure out details in the morning.

Damian will be THRILLED. He'd been planning a long term seduction plan for weeks. And Jason will no doubt drag Tim off to scent him the second he's able. Betas are said to be calming influences in a pack. Assuming the can all SHARE. Helping Tim settle in is going to be a wonderful group project.

He's touch starved, feral, and deeply wary of any sign of affection. Pampering him is undoubtedly going to be a group effort. But watching Dick cuddle his newest pack member? Tim relaxed in exhausted but peaceful rest? Bruce knows it's worth it.

ive read most of the stuff in the riddlebat tag. most of it. i dont really read any batman 22 stuff, but ive read just about everything else. that said, heres a list of some of my favorites ive read!

first of all, jovialJuggernaut and fromjannah write my absolute favorite riddlebat fics of all time, so theyre gonna be on this list a LOT. i dont think i put all of their fics on here, tho, so im just telling you right now that you should 100% check out everything both of those authors have. i will link some of my favorites below tho along w some of my other recs

the summary doesnt do it justice, honestly. as far as comics riddlebat goes this is THE riddlebat fic of all time as far as im concerned. this is the blueprint. this is It(TM). liam has such a way of writing eddie hes so irritating and whiny and fidgety as hell you just HAVE to love him. this fic is peak adhd4autism and the way they write bruces autism in this honestly totally influences the way i write bruce all the time. gamechanger of a fic, youve GOT to read it

Then they'd go back and forth till he'd see the red on his arm starting to form

Robin LOVES animals and will literally take in any stray he finds to take care of it before his uncle would find them a week later

Ofcourse he'd get smarter and keep them in another secret place he and Finney have and they would take care of this dog cat or even pigeon

Finney can't cook for the life of him

He once burned water he was boiling. After that whenever his dad was out Gwen would take over

WHAT'D MAKE IT EVEN MORE FUNNIER IS THAT GWEN CANT COOK EITHER.

They'd call Robin all embarrassed telling him they burnt there food and he's just on the other line like

Robin : I uh what I'm just- HOW

Hed be stuttering for the first time in his life from how unbelievable that is

Griffin would definitely be that kid who got warnings from his teachers

And not for being bad or saying something snarky to the teacher but because he'd get caught doung something dumb

Like he'd try to do a handstand and be in the way of someone else and the teacher would scold him

Or he'd be twirling because his jacket was flapping with him and his teacher would tell him to stop (personal experience smh)

Vance is great at doing first aid

His mom taught him that since she knew that if she tried to tell him to stop he wouldn't so to make it safer for him she taught him how to take care of himself

Vance also probably listens to queen with his mom and has jam sessions with her

He'd deny it if anyone ever caught him doing it and He'd do it so well that the person would just walk away because he just wouldn't budge

The entire group would have study sessions and switch houses every Saturday night

And they'd have a rotation, so if one person's house wasn't gonna be free that Saturday night they would go on to the next person's house and if they all collectively had something to do then they'd do it in the afternoon on Sunday

Does it bother WMLP Dick more to be compared to Bruce or to be compared to Slade?

At current I would say Bruce moreso than Slade. Mostly because Dick was only with Bruce for four years and it's been a decade so as far as he';s concerned people should just stop bringing it up lmao. And also because regardless of his complicated feelings on Slade, he is kinda supposed to be like Slade, because he's Deathstroke 2.0 now, so if anything that's a strange form of backhanded praise. whereas with Bruce he's trying to not be Like That (TM).

The BatKids as the Gotham Region Gym Leaders

Gym Leader Number Six: Jason Todd (The Half Fire Half Ghost Type Gym Leader)

Jason as a Gym Leader: Jason as a Gym Leader is more about strength. While other Gym Leaders will test their challengers on more technical skill (Duke their resourcefulness, Steph their cleverness, Tim their strategy, and Cass a trainer’s decision making process), Jason prefers to figure out what the strength of each Trainer and their team is, and how to draw it out of them so they’re better prepared when the battle is over. While Jason could be battled at any point of a Trainer’s journey, he would preferred to be challenged a little past the halfway mark, if not at the end. Most of the Gotham Region’s older residents would describe Jason as a brute, but he has a loyal fan base of usually younger trainers who understand his concerns and intentions.

Gym Set Up: Jason Todd has a flare for dramatics, so his Gym is set in a large abandoned theatre where a trainer is ushered into a large corridor, and waits for a infamous quote from a classic literature novel to be read halfway over the building’s sound system, before being asked to choose a door to a stage room (out of three options) that correctly finishes the quote to continue moving forward. Of course, since it’s Jason and he wants to test a trainer’s strength there will be gym trainers waiting on the stage of each room, reading out the end of the line (one correctly, the other two will improvise), so a battle is unavoidable. Nonetheless this will continue for five more turns, until you reach Jason in the back on the largest stage in the theatre. If you battle Jason early into your journey the Gym Trainer’s team will include Vulpix, Numel, Litwick, and Misdreavus. If you challenge Jason halfway through your journey his Gym Trainer’s teams will be comprised of Banette, Mimikyu, Darmanitan, Salazzle, and Talonflame. If Jason is one of your final opponents, his Gym Trainer’s teams will consist of Volcarona, Chandelure, Arcanine, Aegislash, and Trevenant.

Gym Team Roster (Early Journey Edition): Facing Jason early on your journey will give him a team of Magby, Lampent, and Litten. Magby is masterful at smokescreen so it gives his team an edge at hiding when needed, Lampent is mostly to stick with the Gym theme, and Litten having been Jason’s first Pokémon (not this Litten, the Incineroar version from his final team) is a Pokémon Jason is the most familiar with so he can push out its strength well. If you defeat Jason he will hand you a TM for Will-o-Wisp.

Gym Team Roster (Late Journey Edition): Jason as your final battle, or one of the last, will handle a team of Gengar to take out any early Water or Ground types with Thunderbolt and Giga Drain. Following Gengar is an Alolan Marowak that was given to him by Tim. Third on the team is a Spiritomb for great defense, then followed by a Mega Charizard Y that is a gift from Bruce. His second to last Pokémon is a Dusknoir for great defense and offense, and his final team member is an Incineroar, his long time partner since it was a Litten when Jason lived on the streets of Gotham. If you defeat Jason at this stage he will hand you a TM for Overheat.

Vigilante Team: Jason, out of all the BatKids, has the biggest Pokémon team when it comes to his vigilante team. His team includes Incineroar, a Dragapult for stealth and aquatic assistance, a Salazzle for extra stealth, a Drifblim for aerial assistance, a Rapidash for quick transportation and extra strength, and a Turtonator, because I mean it’s Jason and Turtonator has explosions on its back, and for extra strength.

Civilian Party: Jason’s civilian team rivals Damien’s with a full team of six. His first Pokémon is Incineroar because it’s over protective of Jason. His second is a Houndoom to match Damien’s that was given to him by Talia when he was training with the league. His third is a Phantump that followed him after his resurrection and wouldn’t go away. His fourth member is a Ninetails that he grew fond of, but caught because of its regal appearance when he became a Wayne again. His fifth Pokémon is a Scizor that was a gift from Barbara. His final Pokémon is a Minior that was a gift from Kyle when he came back to Earth (gotta keep the Jaykyle agenda going strong lol).

Bruce is CONCERNED (TM)

He's gonna be there for his son and get the rest of the Batfam and probably the Justice League to help with it. And training the batfam in combat against normal villains is one thing, it's completely another to have your young noncombatant son caught up in an ancient conflict between legendary good and legendary evil.

It always kills me when Batman masks have worry lines on them because that implies they were constructed to look like a very concerned old man, which is exactly what he grows into

Well Jack accidentally grabs the wrong kid, in the panic. (Wrong kid could be any of the bats though Tim or Damian for full batfam dynamic kek.)

Dick or Bruce being in civilian form ends up with Danny because of the mix up.

Lol combine it with twin au and it make even more funny.

Dick probably don’t know what to do cause stuck with Danny inside building so just waiting on backup.

And noticing small things about Danny.

While Damien stuck with Fenton’s because they're not letting Damian slip away lol. Jazz is the one to point out they didn’t grab Danny.

Danny: let me guess, You're the "Bruce Wayne's Son" that the Bat gang confused me for

Damian: they- .... I'll kill them.

2022 Selina Kyle is SOFT and characterized with traditionally feminine traits in stark contrast to Batman and the Riddler and it’s bumming me out how many fanworks vaguely or not-so-vaguely erase that. I’ve read fics that basically copy-and-paste Bruce’s toxic masculinity and difficulty being vulnerable with someone onto Selina as a way to give her some angsty inner conflict and just...Did we see the same movie??

These are two people whose backgrounds are basically as far apart as they could possibly be, it makes sense that their very similar traumas would not affect them the same way. It’s kind of an important thing in the movie how Bruce, Selina, and Edward all responded in different ways to being orphaned and alone most of their lives, you know. And it seems clear based on her characterization that while Bruce has in large part chosen his isolation, Selina’s trauma hasn’t made her reluctant to connect with people in quite the same way.

Yes, Selina’s chosen to pursue some payback against her father at the expense of having other things in her present life. In some ways she has more of a double life than Bruce is living at this point. All this is isolating and hasn’t exactly brought her into contact with a lot of trustworthy people. At the same time, ordinary people outside of the criminal underworld are not typically going to be the kind she can fully be herself with either. Even getting close to Annika was probably partly to get information from her, and must have required some compartmentalizing, as much as she genuinely cared about her. And that relationship seems to show she is used to being the one to take care of other people.

But almost as soon as she and Batman are thrown together and she feels a real kinship with him, and this man treats her like she herself is worth protecting, she is able to pretty readily open her heart to another person. All things considered, Selina is clearly much less messed up than Bruce when it comes to relationships. If she had the support of someone like Alfred in her life, she surely wouldn’t have kept them at arm’s length most of her life as Bruce has done with him.

I mean, it’s all there in the way she takes in all these stray cats, and also obviously identifies with the strays. She chose the cat theme for her alter-ego for a reason. It comes naturally to her to be kind to others she identifies with because she has always felt alone herself. She’s survived on her own for so long, and it means so much to her to feel cared for that way for the first time in so long when Batman physically protects her and thinks of her feelings (even in small ways, like when he locks eyes with her with concern while listening to the recording of Annika’s murder, making the connection to how her mom died and knowing how horrible this must feel...I cry). Selina is the one who makes the move to kiss him both times, she is very tender and sweet with him, and she freaking asks him to leave Gotham with her - she demonstrably does not have to angstily reconcile these feelings the way he does. She isn’t worrying that she is less of a Strong Female Character TM if she wants the bat D for Christ sake, because she’s actually written like a real human person and not the honestly superficial-as-fuck, supposedly one-size-fits-all idea of what even makes a "strong female character” that is generally agreed upon by abled white people.

It feels simplifying to say that the way she’s turned out differently than him and the Riddler has everything to do with how being white and male makes one internalize different lessons from the world about one’s own individual importance and how to deal with pain, but in this case the shoe fits pretty damn well? Selina is the only female character in this movie with any real development, and it feels significant that although she can defend herself and is willing to use violence, she generally operates like a classic noir femme fatale, through duplicity and subterfuge instead of direct confrontation or aggression. Even if she never slept with anyone to get close to Falcone’s outfit, she certainly knows how to use her sexuality and attractiveness as a tool. It’s definitely part of why Bruce’s first instincts are to suspect she could be an untrustworthy and immoral person, when ironically she’s just a woman trying to take care of herself, not destructively forcing her extreme convictions on the world like two guys we know.

She’s a very damaged and traumatized person who shows it in her own way, of course. Considering how obviously more fucked up and not ready for a relationship Batman is, one could certainly say she forgives his faults and trusts him a little too quickly and easily, despite what she claims about also assuming the worst about people, because she is lonely and she can’t not see herself in him in a way that hits a nerve. Strays truly are a weakness for her, lol. And she must want to kill Falcone at first because part of her thinks she doesn’t deserve better than to throw her future away in a much more life-changing way than any of her crimes so far. But the difference is Selina doesn’t bleed out in a way that hurts other people. And not having learned the same toxic aggro way to deal with trauma as Bruce, she doesn’t necessarily have the same issues with intimacy either.

Other people have already discussed at length and better than I can how the way a lot of fandom is portraying Selina is so obviously rooted in racism, but I guess this post is a long way of saying that this version of her is...not really that different from the Catwomen we know from other canon, lol (without the film pretending that her race doesn’t matter). And yet people look at her and are like “Badass bi girlboss who will step on you, obviously.” Catwoman has generally always been a beautiful, sexy, feminine antagonist who uses the way she’s perceived as a woman and the attraction men have to her to her advantage and also has a huge romantic side. Funny how suddenly people just can’t see the character in a similar way when, you know...it’s Zoe Kravitz.

Another stalker/civilian Au~!

Its an Au where Bruce get thrown into some multi-verse adventure with a few other Batmen, not long into his grief spiral? And between Climactic Battles(tm) they try to tell him to be... less harsh, on his Tim? Because they know he is them. He won't listen if they say Be Nice. He's raging and full of grief.

And he's like? Tim? Timothy Drake. The neighbors child who should be in Morocco, THAT Tim?

Yep. He becomes your next Robin. They ALL tell him. Because *various explanations basicly boiling down too "you publicly lose your shit in grief"*. And? Bruce has time to work through his immediate, VIOLENT denial? While on that adventure?

Comes back having reached a stage of "Absolutely Not. No More Robins." Not because it's TIM, but because he refuses to lose another kid? But ALSO? He's now Hyper Aware of this kid?

That's HIS kid.

He has to PROTECT that kid from trying to become Robin. From trying to join the Caped lifestyle. So he, now that he's no longer risking just destroying just HIMSELF, drags himself together. Painfully, slowly, and with help, but he does it. Is he okay? Not remotely. But he slowly gets functioning again.

Twitchs everytime Tim looks too hard in his direction. Seems too concerned.

He carefully manipulates Tim's school to offer better and better distractions. Opportunities for growth and too entice. Photography, engineering, languages, skating, game creation. Anything.

He monitors Tim too and from school. Stops purse snatching and petty crimes far before Tim ever sees them. Makes SURE there will never be any call to action for his boy. No great tragedy.

Then, of course, the universe (as it tends too) spits on his efforts in mockery. Tim's parent are kidnapped, killed, by a madman. He is orphaned, like Bruce was. Left with too much wealth and few to protect him from those who would take it. It's like looking into a mirror of the past.

He steps up.

His lawyers vicious, the will, a forgery they'll never be able to prove is fake. They KNOW it is. Because they destroyed the original. However, his fake is better then theirs. His lawyers far more bloodthirsty. He sees most of the Drake Industries board in jail by the end of the month.

But... Timothy Drake is not his son. He's his foster child.

One who avoids him.

Who chokes on the secrets he KNOWS, but doesn't know, Bruce knows he knows. Who mourns his parents. Who's trying to hold on to the shreds of his life. Bruce watches him through the Manor cameras and obsesses. So small. So sad. They have both lost so much.

It is almost... perverse, the weight that lifts from Bruce's shoulders, when he drags his weary body back to the cave each night. After brutal patrols and the untold horrors man visits upon man. And he can just? Flip on the cameras. Find Tim. Curled warm and soft, safe and alive, in his bed. Playing some game, later then he should, as young men do. Sneaking a snack.

The living representation of what he's fighting for.

But Dick comes back, raging through and misunderstanding. Thinks Tim is Robin. Lashes out. The shouting echoes. By the time everything is cleared up, Tim has already quietly found himself a boarding school abroad. Dick is devastated. Feels like a monster. Bruce wants to refuse. But whispers of another break out on TOP of League of Assassins agents being spotted lurking around?

He hates it, but agrees.

It's a miserable slog of time after that. Report cards and updates the only highlights. A crime lord that turns out to be his dead son appears. A BIOLOGICAL Son that hounds him to be Robin appears. Eventually Tim returns. Technically, aged out of the foster system.

As though Bruce would ever let go so easily.

He welcomes him home at the airport. His boy, grown into his slender frame and delicate features. Wants to drive him to the Manor but drives him to the upper class apartment Tim has bought himself instead.

Adjusts his patrol routes mentally.

Learns, through his planted cameras, that Tim's schoolmates have been a TERRIBLE influence. Casual nudity, sprawling hedonistic nights of take-out and wine, and most concerning? Mentions of "hook ups" he will be missing, over the phone. Bruce is appalled. How did he MISS this?

Sure, Tim cleans up well. Presents himself as reserved if flirtatious in the boardroom. Is now working to seize control of his birthright. But... but...!

Bruce is conflicted. But can not tear his eyes away, as he reviews the surveillance from the Welcome Home gala he threw for Tim. Was it coincidence? Or intentional. However it ends? Tim is a kept man. Batmans secret civilian lover. And he gets WEIRD about it~☆
