actually I'm not done thinking about teru and ritsu's friendship. I think teru might be one of ritsu's first real friends. ritsu isn't like,, the most social kid in the universe, and I think he has plenty of superficial friends (see: "I talk about the weather with pretty much anyone") but I think the only real close friends he has are teru and shou. and I think it's bc both of them are people he met without his Perfectly Ordinary Middle Schooler mask. he has to fill the role of honor student, perfect son, doting brother, etc. all the time while ALSO trying to blend into the background and be inconspicuous, and that's part of why he lashed out like he did during the cleanup arc, but with teru and shou, his first encounter with both of them involved him being an arrogant little shit that's willing to pick fights, which contradicts the perfect kid act AND the perfectly ordinary middle schooler act, and is in fact much more honest bc he's not hiding this kind of nasty side to himself. and that honesty works out for him with these two! teru sees himself in ritsu because he's also kind of an arrogant little prick, and aside from initially trying (and succeeding) to intimidate him, teru looks out for him and risks his life trying to save him and they genuinely get along pretty well! and with shou, he sees that ritsu is willing to fight him on his own and he's like "oh you're fucking nuts, we need to be best friends now" and immediately respects him a lot just because he's not gonna run away from a fight he's certain to lose. idk, I just think it's important that ritsu's first real friends are ones who saw him in rather ugly circumstances and wanted to be friends with him anyway

The writers I think mostly completely by accident with the assistance of James charming his way into becoming a main character created the perfect storm to ensure people who love spike would reach absolute peak levels of being completely obsessively deranged about him forever

Season 2:

He’s a punk rock villain with killer cheekbones, enchanting eyes, and an absolutely DEVILISH smile - who’s an incredibly dedicated and dangerous fighter who specifically seeks out challenging fights he’s not guaranteed to win (brave and reckless - normally traits seen in heroes) hates everyone except his mentally ill physically sick wife (the statistics of men who leave their wives when they get sick in the US is horrifying like nurses literally have to warn married women who get sick it happens so often) who he’s hopelessly devoted to and unbelievably soft with and always listens to her while also exuding a psychotic amount of sex appeal and is just F U N he loves being a vampire and he loves fighting and it makes it so much fun for the audience. While still showing how much he respects and admires his enemy for her skill, strength, resourcefulness, and intelligence - NEVER underestimating her just because she’s a tiny blonde girl - and instead of destroying the world for love he SAVES the world for love - a villain doing good to get the love of his life back who essentially dumped him for her ex????????? D E V O T E D and shockingly extremely trustworthy??? And has amazing chemistry with our heroine and is there for a pivotal moment in her life and is the only one there for her when she has no one else????? *enemies to lovers girlies ENTER THE CHAT*

Season 3:

He shows he fucking MEANS IT when he says Dru is the love of his life when he shows up in Sunnydale because he blames Angel not Buffy or Drusilla but the man actually responsible for all their problems and he is the most pathetic mess we’ve ever SEEN!!!! He’s crying and drunk all the time and he’s so sad he goes to Buffy’s mom TO TALK 💀😭 our pathetic sensitive little self admitted lover boy who KNOWS he’s love’s bitch and he won’t be pretending he’s anything otherwise who shows how clearly he sees and understands other people and the depths of his emotional intelligence so much so Buffy herself admits she can’t fool Spike she can fool her friends BUT NOT SPIKE OR HERSELF EXCUSE ME MA’AM WHAT???????

AND Spike doesn’t just uselessly MOPE forever he gets some perspective and is like I know what I’m gonna do to her back and I’m gonna go do that now! 😁👍🏻 showing he never stays down for long and is always gonna get back up to keep fighting for his love while BOTH he and Buffy still honor the truce even though he’s broken it by coming back??? Season 4:

CLEARLY heartbroken about Drusilla (DEVOTED!!!) but it’s turned into anger and resentment directed at Harmony who how bizarre looks nothing like Drusilla but A LOT like Buffy…… hmmmmmmmmmmmmm HOW INTERESTING *enemies to lovers girlies are vibrating with anticipation that turns into a full blown combustion when something blue happens*

Spike doesn’t pretend to love Harmony in order to get what he wants from her (shown in direct contrast to Parker) he’s ironically very honest despite being a villain - he’s showing he’s STILL loyal to Drusilla in ONLY loving her even after she’s dumped him... again!

We see Spike treat Buffy the EXACT same way he treated Drusilla during something blue reaffirming THIS IS HOW THIS MAN LOVES WHEN HE LOVES YOU. He’s extremely affectionate, helpful, protective, caring - D E V O T E D - and is truly just the most certified lover boy we’ve ever fucking seen

Season 5:

AND THEN as if all that wasn't enough he goes and gets his soul on purpose for Buffy so he can be the man she deserves and she can love him without hating herself for loving him despite the immense pain it will cause him which is the most selfless thing we have ever seen anyone do for Buffy only to be topped when he sacrifices himself to destroy the hellmouth, save the world and free her from Sunnydale!!! Plus ya know once he gets the soul even though he did it for her he never tries to use that as leverage to get anything from her like he truly expects nothing from her at all but still wants to help her and James delivers the most devastating performances we've ever fucking seen, finally tells her friends off which has needed to happen for 5 seasons, the "you're the one speech" him being a dad to all the potentials with Buffy giving us supernatural parent core who made it through their rough patch with their first kid in season 6 with Dawn and now are just the beautiful team with their found family and Buffy finally has someone who can truly carry her burdens with her and just all the tenderness and devotion they both deserve after so many years of pain and fighting. Basically giving the audience the message that even if you have a metric ton of pain and trauma there are people out there who see you and understand you and there is a chance for you to heal both together and separately to build your own version of a more normal and stable life. It's a message of such hope and I personally know several people, including myself who watched what Spike and Buffy have and it inspired us to look at the relationships we were in and realize we deserved SO MUCH MORE than what we were getting and in my case it turned out I was being emotionally abused and manipulated that entire time!! Much like Buffy was by both Riley and Angel. So it isn't an exaggeration to say Spuffy saved my life in a lot of ways both in being there for me at such a dark time and helping me draw a map of how to get out. Not to mention loving them in fandom spaces has helped me connect with so many people just like me who share very similar experiences and have helped me feel so much less alone and has helped me heal in so many ways 🖤

Spuffies get "hOw cAn yOu liKe sPiKe aFtEr wHaT hE dId" all the fucking time and truly the better question is how can you NOT like Spike???? HAVE YOU BEEN PAYING ATTENTION AT ALL??? DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT GOOD RELATIONSHIPS NEED TO WORK?? BECAUSE AT THEIR CORE SPUFFY HAS THEM ALL!

It's jw writing so NOTHING will escape his toxic bullshit but Spike - because he was hated by jw for so long - so much of the time when he tried to make Spike less popular he just kept making him better and more complex and more and more targeted to the female gaze which is exactly why he snapped and made the choices he literally forced everyone else to go along with despite their protests with that scene to make it the most traumatizing scene in all of Buffy history not just for the audience but for the actors as well because yes it is incredibly horrific and upsetting to watch (which is why I skip it on rewatches) but I still am able to see if for what it is which is a narcissist lashing out at people he hates because he hasn't been able to control them and too bad for him I refuse to be manipulated by his bullshit so it failed completely and made so many of us that much more stubbornly protective of Spike and his and Buffy's relationship not just from other fans but from the creator himself 🙃🖕🏻like he basically just trauma bonded us to Spike and Buffy which has led to the creation of one of the most devoted, loyal, intelligent fanbases who is absolutely unhinged (affectionate) with their love of this character and his relationship which is why we are all still creating and writing about this character 25 year later and show absolutely zero signs of slowing down or stopping 💀

What if Beron loved LOA many years ago?

Just don't hit me, please😭I was too afraid to post these thoughts because someone might see it as an attempt to defend the strongest abuser in ACOTAR. But it isn't.

I accidentally blurted it out during a heated discussion about Autumn Court (Eris) with my best and lovely friend

It is not a theory, it is just… something that I suddenly imagine in my head really WITHOUT REASON AND WITHOUT ANY TIME FOR UNDERSTANDING.

I'm not going to defend Beron, even though he used his brain cell at the HL meeting. But...

Let me explain.

⚠️ I think it's important to point out that this is not an excuse, but an attempt to explain this holey plot ⚠️

LOA was the youngest sister. There is no description in the text that her sisters were married. We know that LOA powerful. I'm sure her sisters were the same. They were brave. They defended their little sister.

I thought that if all Beron needed was a pedigree, he could have married an older sister. But he chose to propose to LOA. And LOA waited one year. Beron let her wait a whole year. If it had been a one-sided 'sale' for the sake of procreation, no one would have given her the chance to wait for someone else.

When he chose those who could protect her and not betray her when she escaped - he chose her sisters, someone who would protect her no matter what.

To be honest, he already had children from her. Some of them were on the battlefield, the youngest were packed off to relatives. They would be enough for him, even for a bloodbath in the race for the throne.

I don't really understand the concept that Sarah wrote. Like, the more kids, the more spectacular the Hunger Games? That doesn't make any sense! Like the fact that Lucien was able to get a good education. If Beron had known from the start that Lucien was not his son, he would have either killed him or denied him such a chance to study. Knowledge is the most dangerous weapon. And he graciously gave it to Lucien while the other brothers barely had time to grow up before they were given lands to rule. No ruler would train a threat or a bastard. On the contrary, Lucien had to be illiterate. He should not be able to read, write or count. Nothing at all. Lucien was not given a piece of land. But he was given an education. He read and studied until he was bored.

Just because I think Beron loved LOA doesn't mean she loved him and wanted to be with him. It's just a thought I had in the autumn.

The Prythian is a very traditional place, so it seems that a good marriage is very important for women there. Even today there are folks and societies that are generally modern, but traditions are stronger. And many women are prepared for marriage from childhood, their families prepare huge dowries for them, and for many women marriage is the meaning of their lives.

LOA had autonomy of movement. That's a fact. She met Helion and had affairs with him for decades. That's a lot for woman who was supposedly kept locked up all her life with no voice and no freedom.

I just think that if Beron had loved her before, he would have allowed her to travel and visit the Prythian lands, for example, accompanied by her own guards and her own entourage. I think she had her own entourage before, some women and men who were loyal to her and who she helped with their court life.

That's the only explanation I can think of for why she could be with Helion and Beron just didn't realise it for many years.

And here Lucien.

The most powerful betrayal. And his personal shame as a High Lord and husband. Not only in the eyes of his family, but also in the eyes of the AC nobility. As if he was a sign that he can't control his family and his court. A sign of his weakness.

Sometimes I think his brothers hate him, mostly because everything went to hell after he was born.

Just imagine that everything was more or less fine overall, but after he was born, LOA was locked in the house and Beron went crazy😕 Started abusing her again and again, started abusing them.

The sheer betrayal in his eyes, the feeling of having his heart ripped out. And from that moment on, he decided to make her life a living hell.

She was full of life, now she is just… a shell of herself.

I imagine that Lucien's brothers had seen their mother laugh and joy, and after he was born she became completely different. It was as if he was the reason they had lost the mother who had raised them.

"Everything was fine until you were born"

Maybe, deep down, they realised that he wasn't to blame for what had happened, that it wasn't his fault. But he was the weakest.

They couldn't blame their father, they couldn't blame their mother. But they could blame Lucien.

Beron had no reason to kill Jesminda. He could have just forced Lucien to marry someone else. He could beat him up and so on. There were many more cruel ways.

Her murder was not only a blow to Lucien, it was a blow to the Lady.

A demonstration of how she had "wounded" him.

He showed her through Lucien's screams and tears, her favourite son, what she had done and made her believe it was her fault.

"Look what you've done with me. Look what you've done to him"

Jesminda's murder was organised to make Lucien, the most emotional son, cry and scream in his grief. A grief so intense that it tore LOA to pieces.

Lucien's execution was to be the icing on the cake of revenge. The final chord.

Every tear, every sob is part of the play to show how much he was hurt years ago when he realised that she had betrayed their marriage.

But Beron took things much deeper.

The Marauders and their … Hogwarts Houses ? because I think this is a fun little idea :)

(You know how fandoms outside the HP universe will have HP AUs ? And sort the characters into Hogwarts Houses ? This is how I think we would sort The (modern) Marauders, if we weren’t already a HP fandom :D)

James: Hufflepuff. Come on, this one is obvious. Him and all the other Golden Retriever / Himbo Characters to ever exist. That whole James Potter aka The Sun stuff ? Him being kind-hearted and loyal (to his family and friends) ? Hufflepuff.

Sirius: Gryffindor. Him and all the Badass But Kind / Popular Kid Characters. Like him leaving his abusive household ? Brave. Also there’s something about his attitude, posh without the asshole attitude (at least later on) that’s giving chivalrous.

Remus: Ravenclaw. Yes, sometimes he’s given a sort of No Fucks Given attitude, but even then he’s still depicted as smart. Like cigarette in hand or not, he’s almost always enjoying reading. And his most common characterization are Light / Dark Academia vibes for sure.

Peter: Hufflepuff. In Modern AUs there usually isn’t any crazy betrayal happening, so there’s no actual reason for him to be too brave, instead he’s more of a chill and fun guy. Plus, oftentimes James and him are childhood friends, so that would make for fun housemates ig ?

Lily: Ravenclaw. Similar to Remus, she has those Light / Dark Academia Vibes and is often portrayed as this smart and witty character. Plus, specifically in Jily Fics, it makes for great Himbo x Smart Girl Fics. Also, there’s potential for a great Remus x Lily friendship.

Mary: Gryffindor. She’s often portrayed as this very strong and independent character and has a Standing On Business kinda attitude. She’s also usually very confident, especially sexuality / gender wise which fits the vibes and is brave for sure.

Marlene: Hufflepuff. I could also see her being in Gryffindor, because she too is a very brave character in my opinion, but I think she often has a personality similar to James, so this makes more sense to me. Plus: James, Peter and her -> childhood friends and housemates !!!

Dorcas: Slytherin. She has those Cool Badass Character vibes. She knows what she wants and she gets what she wants, like she’s ambitious and clever for sure. I think she’s also usually a rather intimidating character? Plus, Hufflepuff! Marlene x Slytherin! Dorcas Fics.

Pandora: Slytherin. I think her characterization has changed from where she was a sweet / bubbly and eccentric character, to where she’s still that now, but also lowkey insane. Plus those intimidating vibes again -> Slytherin. Also, Pandalily Fics would go hard like this !

Regulus: Ravenclaw. I do think there would be a lot of Slytherin! Regulus Fics, especially for the Black Brothers Drama, but the vibes are too similar to Remus’ and Lily’s for him to not be in Ravenclaw. This would make for a fun trio and good Jegulus / Jegulily for sure.

Barty: Gryffindor. I feel like this is a wild one, like he could be in Slytherin or Ravenclaw as well, but for some reason I think he would be a Bad Boy Gryffindor, and everyone would be confused why he’s there and he’d hate it too, but idk, he sometimes has similar vibes to Sirius …

Evan: Slytherin. Maniac, need I say more? Imagine running into Pandora and him, like they are for sure those twins everyone’s kinda afraid of. Also, I think this would make for some great Rosekiller Fics, as well as a great Regulus, Barty and Evan friendship, like yes.

Here are the designs! I’ll go onto more depth about my AU if someone asks but it’s called kore links Teheheh

First: strong headed confident leader (most of the time at least) who’s loyal to a fault with a ‘no funny business’ attitude. Try’s his best to keep the rest of them in check in his own way. Keeps his secrets to himself and himself alone.

Twilight: a kindhearted farmer who despite his looks is an absolute sweetie. He’s the one who actually keeps everyone in check and is like an older brother figure to all of them. Many sleepless nights have been had via nightmares from his adventures and a longing feeling that there’s still a bit of her out there.

Kore/koreidi: a so named high priest/priestess of farore aiding the group on their quest with strange magic and odd abilities. It’s quite odd how she knows everything about everyone else but nobody knows a smidge about them or his past, Half of the time the links don’t even know if they’re traveling with the same person or not. They’re quite rambunctious and eager to see the world but also focused on the task ahead like the sands of time are slipping away from her…odd isn’t it?

Warriors:a level headed captain of the royal army who also just so happens to be second in command to the tallest and the oldest. Cocky at times as a front to others to hide the fact that he HATES how he looks, Not because he’s ugly, but because he’s the reason a war started in the first place. Will never show it but he is one flirt or cat fight away from flying off the handle. All in all he’s a good leader when he needs to be.

Sky: the sleepiest hero by far and surprisingly the one with the most education experience. In by no means should you take him for granted in any way, he may like a nap but his sword skills are unmatched even by the standards of the very first hero! Quite sassy when needed but kind and courageous! The core of what a hero should be!

Wild: a quiet yet resourceful person who tries to not think about his life before the calamity , but it’s always lurking in his mind and there’s always an urge to find links to his past (AHaHAHA). He lost his arm after his last adventure, however purah did find some spare shikah tech that they hadn’t destroyed to make a new arm for him! He’s very close to his zelda and gets insecure talking about his scars. He doesn’t know why, he can hardly remember how he got them. Guess it’s just another reminder of how he failed.

Hyrule: The sassiest hero by far! He’s somehow a hoarder and has nothing on him at the same time. However sassy he may be his resourcefulness is absolutely what makes him such a good fighter! He’s great at puzzles and surprisingly is one of the more strategic links when it comes to dungeons! He’s also quite the magic user- but prefers to keep that hidden! If they ever knew about the fairy thing…yikes!

Wind: a fun loving pirate who loves his family dearly and is better on water than land. As much as a goofball he might seem his big brother attitude and his brave nature makes him a force to be reckoned with! Also surprisingly an astronomer at heart! All in all a brave young hero with the courage of someone 100x his size!

Time: a mischievous little creature who’s main goals are to prank steal and prank more. Despite this however he’s a sweet boy who’s willing to help his friends no matter what. He’s a little confused on his age at the moment but he’s sure he’ll figure it out…eventually! As chaotic as he is he loves giving justice to those who deserve it and will do exactly that!

Ravio: the definition of “I got lost but I’m not complaining”. Ravio is a random researcher kore/koridi found who tagged along in their search for the heroes. He’s a shy man who is a coward of cowardice was a human but when it comes to those he loves a bit of courage seeps through him (though he is practically useless when it comes to fighting). Ravio is, as kore puts it : “a purple deku nut who’s either as brave as a lion or as oblivious as a rock” endearingly of corse

Personality: He is incredibly relaxed and truthful. He's a friendly guy, but mess with him or his loved ones and you'll witness a rare and terrifying side of him. He's an expert with firearms and a fascinating character study. He is very perceptive and can read anyone, no matter how near. He understands how to read a room and adjusts quickly. He is constantly self-assured and brave. While he enjoys a good joke and a good prank, he has boundaries when it comes to people. He's a little difficult to get along with.

Appearance: He is definitely a Sans! But he has a scar on his eyebrow.

Button - Mafiatale Papyrus

Personality: He's a hitman with a deadly shot. He is quite skilled at gathering information and, if required, will get messy. When executing his work, he is merciful to a degree. Overall, he's a pleasant individual who values others. He is a bright young man who makes friends quickly. He has morals, but they are distorted and cause concern for the majority of people. He takes his sibling and his friends' safety very seriously. When one of his loved ones is in danger, he is quick to intervene. He has an incredible rage, but if you mess with his loved ones or injure someone he cares about, you're screwed tenfold.

Appearance: He is definitely a Papyrus! But he has a scar on his nose ridge.

Spade - Mafiaswap Sans

Personality: His personality is that of a genuine drama queen. He is a big hitter who knows how to get knowledge from others. He was once abandoned at the grocery, and he hasn't let any of the mafia thugs forget it. He's a charming man who is far too confident in himself. He is reserved among strangers, but gradually warms up to them. He's a hitman who isn't afraid to get his hands dirty. Because he is so adorable, everyone adores him. His bite is far more painful than his bark. He is really friendly and brave, and he is optimistic. He creates so much commotion that it's almost comical.

Personality: He is self-assured and flirtatious. He is extremely amusing and the WORST person to kidnap for information. He has a wicked sense of humor and is skilled at irritating his kidnappers. He's not afraid to admit to sleeping with one of his kidnapper's mothers. He isn't afraid to provoke them knowing he will win if they hit him. He's a decent person who values his friends and family. He is a well-known prankster who memes all of his business associates. He's also a hacker, and there's no database he can't break into. He can take a punch, and when things get serious, they go serious.

Appearance: He has a small scar on the bottom of his eye. Slick has a tattoo on his femur of a white lily.

Roscoe - Mafiafell Sans

Personality: He has the filthiest sense of humor in this place. He's a notorious flirt with a large body count, but he's also a dedicated family man. Roscoe is straightforward and truthful. He is more faithful than a dog in relationships. In terms of information kidnapping, he is the second worst. He's the scumbag, and he'll screw you over until his buddy or brother arrives. He's also the hottest guy in town, and he knows it. When his loved ones are in jeopardy, he will go for the throat. He takes betrayal very personally and will often be furious about it for days if not months. He is loyal and would never do anything to harm his loved ones if he can help it.

Appearance: Roscoe has a single gold tooth, like any other Underfell Sans, but his gold tooth is sharper than his other teeth. He has a scar on his right eye. He has a lot of rings. He has a tattoo on the back of his shoulder blade of a heart with a bandage wrapped around it.

Commander - Mafiafell Papyrus

Personality: He's the hardest to catch off guard. He is continuously on edge when he is not with his loved ones or when he suspects there is danger. He is very harsh and snappy, but he's also a nice person to an extent. He is proud and passionate, yet he is also a perfectionist. He can act like a feral cat when someone he doesn't know touches or flirts with him. He's the most easily irritated of the group, but he retains his calm. When someone threatens him, he can be vicious. He is mostly in charge of healing and serving as the group's doctor.

Appearance: Commander's scar is the same as Captain’s, but much more jagged.

Hitting a High Note - A CS Modern AU Christmas Story

Merry Christmas everyone! While looking through my library of stories, I realized I've never written a Christmas story and decided to remedy that.

Special thanks and a very Merry Christmas to my loyal beta @hookedmom who has already agreed to stick with me and my muse through the New Year.

SUMMARY: Emma Swan talks her friend Killian Jones into going Christmas caroling, but she gets more than she bargains for when she hears him sing.

Killian Jones buttoned his black pea coat, then wrapped a festive green and gold scarf around his neck. After pulling a red knit cap onto his head, he checked his reflection in the mirror above his dresser and arranged his hair so that a few strands fell artfully over his forehead.

“I can’t believe she talked me into doing this,” he grumbled under his breath, but in truth, he absolutely could believe it. Emma Swan would be able to talk him into just about anything, seeing as how he was utterly and completely in love with her.

If only he was brave enough to tell her.

It wasn’t love at first sight for him. The first time he laid eyes on her was at the end of his second week in Storybrooke. She was tucked into her boyfriend’s side at The Rabbit Hole, a local hangout. That boyfriend happened to be Walsh Osterfeld, one of the most arrogant and irritating men Killian ever had the misfortune of meeting. He made the assumption then and there that the blonde who looked happy to have Walsh’s arm wrapped around her was just as bad as him.

But you know what they say about assuming.

In the weeks following that initial introduction, Emma frequently visited the library where Killian had just begun working. It turned out she was quite the bookworm, dispelling his theory that she wasn’t very intelligent, formulated solely because of who she was dating.

Usually, Killian politely waited on her while speaking minimally, but when she checked out a book written by his favorite author, he complimented her choice. Looking up at her when he handed her the receipt, he was frozen in place by the sparkle in her emerald eyes as she gave him a rather shy smile.

“Thanks,” she replied. “My ex told me he hated this author, and since he and I ended up not having much in common, I figured it was worth giving one of these books a try.”

“Your ex, huh?” Killian couldn’t stop himself from asking.

“Yeah, we recently broke up.”

“Sorry to hear that,” he mumbled, though he was not at all sorry.

“Don’t be. We dated just long enough for me to figure out he’s very annoying.”

“So, just a few minutes, then?” Killian quipped, then realized his mistake.

She narrowed her eyes at him. “Why would you say that?”

He felt his face heat with embarrassment as he reached up to scratch nervously behind his ear. “Oh, um, I…I saw you at The Rabbit Hole a while back and you were, uh, pretty cozy with Walsh Osterfeld. I’m not a fan of his.”

Emma looked surprised. “How do you know him?”

“When my brother was setting up his accounting office, he and I went to Osterfeld’s store in search of furniture. He tried to sell Liam the most expensive pieces on display and when Liam said he wasn’t interested, Walsh treated him like he wasn’t worth his time. I convinced Liam to leave and we hired Marco Booth to make everything he needed for half the price of what Osterfeld was asking.”

“Doesn’t surprise me,” Emma responded. “He treated all of my friends pretty much the same way - like they didn’t measure up to his standards. I got tired of it rather quickly.”

Killian hummed, then leaned forward to tap his finger on the cover of the book she held. “Well, I truly think you’ll like this. Hopefully, I’ll be working when you return it and you’ll be able to give me your review.”

“Chances of that are pretty good, because you seem to be here nearly every time I come in lately. You haven’t worked here long, have you?”

“Only a few weeks. My brother and I moved here after I recuperated from surgery.” He held up the prosthetic at the end of his left arm. “Liam hated living in a big city and since I no longer had a job, I decided to make the move with him. Once tax season was over in April, he quit his job at an accounting firm in Boston because he was planning to open an office here. The bonus is that Storybrooke is a harbor town. Liam and I both like being near the water.”

“How did you find out about Storybrooke? It’s a pretty obscure place.”

“Do you know August Booth?”

“Yeah, he goes to my church. Marco’s son.”

“That’s the one. He’s my brother’s friend and former college roommate. He told Liam there weren’t any accountants in this town. ”

“I’ve seen your brother’s office. I’ll probably be requiring his services on April 14th next year.”

He chuckled. “Even though he’s very good, we hope not everyone in town waits until the last day of tax season to employ him.”

“You’re good at what you do, too,” she commented.

“Well, it doesn’t take a genius to work in a library.”

“Maybe not, but it does take someone who is helpful, knowledgeable about books, and treats people with respect. I’m Emma Swan, by the way,” she said, offering him her hand.

He shook it. “Killian Jones, at your service.”

That was the beginning of their friendship. He started to look forward to her frequent visits to the library and their impromptu discussions about books and other things. He found himself telling her about the accident that cost him his hand and job in construction. He explained that with the settlement he received from workman’s compensation, combined with his savings, he was able to afford to move and take a job that, although it paid less, was far more enjoyable.

Soon, they were meeting in the mornings for coffee before she left for her job at a flower shop, and watching movies at each other’s apartment on evenings when he didn’t work. Her friends became his as they hung out together at The Rabbit Hole on the weekends, and attended the same church.

When the announcement about Christmas caroling appeared in the church bulletin, Killian didn’t give it a second thought. Singing in the shower was one thing, singing in public was quite another. But when Emma asked him to come along, explaining how much fun it was to sing to people who were shut-ins, lonely, or just needed some Christmas spirit, he caved. Now he’s a man in love with a woman who liked him only as a friend, doing something that took him way out of his comfort zone.

He had never been Christmas caroling before, so he wasn’t sure what to expect. He did know it would only be a small group of them singing though, which made him a little nervous. He felt more comfortable fading into the background in the middle of a crowd.

When he was growing up, his vagabond father moved their family often, not staying in any one place longer than a year or two. Liam took it as a challenge, making new friends and trying to fit in at every new school and neighborhood, but Killian grew more withdrawn and quiet. Even as an adult, he avoided situations which would draw attention to himself.

His phone buzzed on the dresser. Pulling himself out of his morose thoughts, he picked it up and read the message.

E: See you in 10 if you don’t chicken out.

The gif of a squawking chicken accompanying the text made him laugh. Emma had a knack for finding funny gifs and memes, which always brought a smile to his face. His thumb hit the microphone key and he spoke into his phone to record a return message.

K: I won’t chicken out as long as there are donuts & hot chocolate afterwards, as promised.

E: There better be, or I’m gonna be one cranky caroler.

After sending a laughing emoji, he stuffed the phone into the front pocket of his jeans, checked his reflection one more time, and left the small house he shared with Liam.

Emma fluffed out her blond hair over the collar of her red winter coat and adjusted the buffalo plaid scarf around her neck. After tugging a gray beanie onto her head, she checked her reflection in the mirror, applied some tinted lip gloss, and gave herself a small nod of approval.

She felt a little guilty being so concerned with how she looked, because the idea of Christmas caroling was to make other people feel good. Besides, she was going with a group of her best friends, so it wasn’t a matter of trying to impress anyone.

Except Killian Jones.

“You are such an idiot,” she quietly admonished herself. “He’s just a friend and you’re not supposed to be looking for someone to date. Remember the promise you made to yourself after you broke up with Walsh?” she asked her reflection.

Just thinking about her ex-boyfriend made her cringe. She kicked herself many times over agreeing to go out with him. He was pompous, domineering and snobby, all things she despised in a person. Although, to be fair, she didn’t know those things when she first started dating him. They came to light gradually as she spent more time with him, leaving her with the feeling that she wasn’t a very good judge of character.

She didn’t think she was wrong about Killian, though. He was sweet, sincere, considerate and humble; any woman would be lucky to date him. Maybe she should try setting him up with someone. He was still fairly new in town, and hadn’t met all of her friends yet. Belle had just gotten out of a bad relationship, and Mary Margaret’s teacher friends, Aurora and Jasmine, weren’t seeing anyone.

She wondered if he was even interested in dating. In all the time they’d known each other, he never mentioned a significant other. Maybe he had a girlfriend back in Boston and just didn’t talk about her. Or maybe, like her, he’d been in a bad relationship and swore off dating.

Regardless, she was going to be late if she kept musing about him. Grabbing her purse off of the bed, she dug through it for her keys, then left her apartment and hurried outside to her car parked along the curb.

Emma and Killian pulled up to the church simultaneously and parked beside each other. After unbuckling her seatbelt, she swung her car door open, got out and slammed it shut. She might love her little yellow bug, but it had some issues, such as the door popping back open if you didn’t shut it hard enough.

“Hey, Jones,” she called, walking around the back of her car to meet him. “Went with a sock hat, I see.”

“Pardon me?” he asked, puzzlement apparent on his stupidly handsome face.

“Your hat. I thought you would wear something different.”

She watched him scratch behind his ear, a habit she found quite adorable. “What were you expecting?”

“I don’t know,” she shrugged. “Maybe a top hat with a sprig of holly?”

“I agreed to Christmas carol, not to look like I belong in the ‘Christmas Carol’,” he replied, rolling his eyes.

Emma giggled. It seemed nobody could make her laugh more than Killian Jones, with his dry but sharp sense of humor.

“Are you ready to do this?” she asked, beginning to walk up the sidewalk to the church.

He fell into step beside her. “Uh, I guess.”

“You don’t sound very sure.”

“I’ve never gone caroling before,” he admitted.

She threaded her arm through his left elbow. “Well, there’s a first time for everything. It’ll be fun, you’ll see.”

He hummed and patted her arm with his right hand. “If you say so, Swan.”

“I do.”

They entered the church lobby and saw that most of the other carolers were already there. Ashley and her husband, Shawn, Mary Margaret and David, Ruby, Belle, Elsa, Anna and her fiancé Kris, and a few other people from their church - around fifteen in all.

“We’ll be singing to eight elderly church members and then going over to a nursing home,” Mary Margaret informed them as soon as they joined the cluster of people. “Since they’re spread out all over town, we’ll need to drive from place to place. We’ve already determined who is driving and who will be in each car. The two of you will be with us in my car. David will drive.”

“Why can’t I drive?” Emma asked.

“Perhaps because we all value our lives,” Killian teased, tongue in cheek.

“Hey!” Emma protested. “I’m an excellent driver!”

“It’s not your driving skills we question, Swan. It’s that dodgy excuse for a car.”

She glared at him. “Insult my car at your own risk, Jones.”

“I just did,” he assured her.

They realized the rest of the group had started to file out of the church, so they followed along, still arguing about her car. In front of them, Mary Margaret and David shared amused looks.

Just as Emma and Killian were settling into the back seat, there was a knock on Emma’s window. She looked over to see August peering in at her. “Got room for one more?” he asked, loud enough to be heard through the glass.

“Uh, sure,” Emma said, opening the door, then sliding over to the middle of the seat. August squeezed in beside her and she scooted even closer to Killian.

“Thanks,” August said. “I lost track of the time and was afraid I would be left behind.”

“It’s good to have you with us,” David commented as he put the car in drive and followed Kris’s vehicle out of the parking lot.

“Hey, August,” Killian greeted, leaning forward to speak around Emma.

“Hey, yourself,” August smiled. “Is Liam in one of the other cars?”

“No, I invited him to come, but he’s an old Scrooge and said it was too cold. It’s probably for the best, though. He’s a terrible singer.”

Emma elbowed him sharply. “Be nice.”

“Ouch!” Killian exclaimed. “Are you trying to break a rib, Swan?”

“Stop being so dramatic. You probably didn’t even feel it through all your layers of clothes.”

He continued to rub his side. “Once you hear my brother sing, you’re going to realize I was right, and then you’ll owe me an apology for bruising me.”

“I hate to say it, but I agree with Killian on this one,” August piped up. “Liam and I were fraternity brothers at college, and hearing him sing the Alma Mater had me wishing I could transfer to another university.”

Everyone in the car began to laugh. “Poor Liam,” Mary Margaret said when it died down. “We shouldn’t be making fun of him when he’s not even here to defend himself.”

“Liam is plenty talented,” Killian said. “Just not in singing.”

“Oh, don’t forget to buckle your seatbelts,” Mary Margaret stated, ever the designated mom of the group.

Killian felt Emma’s hand reach down between their hips and brush against his butt as she searched for hers, and he leaned toward her to say, “Um, that’s not your seatbelt, Love.”

She jerked her hand away quickly and he chuckled when he saw color fill her cheeks. “Sorry,” she mumbled.

“Think nothing of it.” He reluctantly moved closer to the door and pulled the buckles between them free so they could fasten their belts. “Maybe someday I can return the favor,” he continued, flirtateously waggling his eyebrows at her.

As he expected, she rolled her eyes at him playfully, then turned to ask August a question. Killian rubbed his gloved hand and prosthesis against his jean-clad knees, and looked out his window toward the sideview mirror, only to see Mary Margaret’s face reflected in it. His eyes widened and he felt himself blush when he saw the sly smile and sparkle in her eyes as her gaze bounced between himself and Emma.

The first stop was a learning experience for Killian. He stood in the middle of the group and sang along softly, but mostly just watched the rest of the carolers and the recipients of their songs. Observing the smiles on all of their faces, his heart filled with the joy of the season

Marco’s house was the next stop and after they piled out of their car, August went inside to get his father. While they waited for him to bundle up and make his appearance, Killian edged closer to where Emma stood chatting with Mary Margaret.

When the dark-haired woman noticed his presence, she gave him a conspiratorial smile and subtly took a step to the side, leaving a gap beside Emma, which Killian filled immediately. He always liked listening to her voice as she sang the hymns in church and wanted to hear her sing the beautiful Christmas carols.

He watched her bounce on her toes and rub her upper arms briskly, breath coming out in steamy clouds. “Cold, Swan?” he asked.

“A little, but I don’t mind. It just makes me look forward to the hot chocolate even more.”

“I’m sure Marco will appreciate our caroling,” he said, stepping closer to her, hoping to block the wind a bit.

“Yeah, he will. He appreciates everything. I love his cheery outlook on life.”

“Aye, he’s a sweet soul…”

At that moment, the front door opened and Marco stepped out, followed by August, who descended the steps to rejoin the group. Mary Margaret began singing “Hark, the Herald Angels Sing” and everyone else joined in immediately.

When the song ended, Marco applauded, a smile lighting up his weathered face. “Now don’t be afraid to sing a little louder,” he said. “These old ears don’t work so well anymore!”

They appeased him by adding more volume to “Jingle Bells” followed by “Up on the Housetop”, complete with all the hand motions.

“Let’s do one more,” David said.

“Dad’s favorite carol is ‘The First Noel’,” August shared.

Everyone nodded their agreement and once again, Mary Margaret started the song. By this time, Killian felt more comfortable and confident in his singing, his clear tenor voice gaining volume. Every now and then, he saw Emma glancing at him, giving him a somewhat quizzical look. He briefly wondered what she was thinking, but he was enjoying himself and didn’t dwell on it.

When he hit the high note on the final ‘noel’ of the song, he was watching Marco’s beaming face, so he failed to see the look of awe on Emma’s.

After bidding Marco goodbye and returning to their cars to travel to the next place, Emma sat wedged between August and Killian, trying to evaluate the feelings washing over her. Of course she liked Killian, and of course she found him attractive. She was a heterosexual female, after all. But after months of convincing herself that he was nothing more than her friend, suddenly her eyes were opened to the truth - she had feelings for him that went much deeper than simply friendship. It was as if that high note he sang hit her right in the heart.

“Alright there, Swan?”

She startled at his question and shook herself out of her musing. “Oh, um, yeah. I’m fine, just a bit chilly,” she replied, not looking at him. She didn’t want to risk him reading her thoughts.

Killian reached over to adjust the temperature setting on the console in front of her. His arm brushed against her leg, causing a rush of warmth through her that had nothing to do with the car’s heating system.

“Thank you,” she murmured, wondering why she hadn’t thought of doing that herself, while at the same time knowing it was because her mind was elsewhere. For the rest of the ride to the next location, she engaged August in conversation.

As the evening progressed, Emma somewhat successfully redirected her thoughts to the fun and joyful activity. Whenever they gathered to sing, she intended to put some distance between herself and Killian, but was magnetically drawn to him and his melodious voice.

After caroling at all of their scheduled stops, they made their way back to the church, where volunteers had coffee, hot chocolate and donuts waiting for them in the community room. Emma picked up her warm beverage and snack, then busied herself talking to Elsa and Anna. She saw Killian sitting with David and Mary Margaret, but didn’t join them as she normally would. Once her conversation with the sisters was over, she noticed Killian heading her way and quickly tossed her trash in the bin, then ducked into the restroom.

When she emerged several minutes later, Killian was leaning against the wall beside the door. “Swan, are you avoiding me?” he asked.

“What? No!” she immediately responded. “What makes you think that?”

He shrugged. “I don’t know. It just seems like you’ve been talking to everyone except me this evening. Have I done something to upset you?”

Her fingers began toying with the chain around her neck, a nervous habit of hers. “No, Killian, you haven’t done anything wrong. I just…I guess I was busy catching up with some of my other friends.”

Killian scratched behind his ear, a nervous habit of his own. “Sorry, Swan. I didn’t mean to accuse you. Of course you have other friends and want to talk to them. I shouldn’t have been so sensitive.”

Emma felt bad. Here he was apologizing when she had been avoiding him most of the evening. “Don’t worry about it, Killian. Like I said, you didn’t do anything wrong.” Looking around, she realized many people were getting ready to leave. “I think I’m gonna say goodbye to Mary Margaret and David and call it a night.”

“I think I’ll do the same.”

They walked together to the table where the couple still sat. After chatting with them for a few moments, Killian helped Emma into her coat and donned his own, then they exited the building. There was an awkward silence as they walked side-by-side toward their cars and she knew it was her fault. They usually spoke so freely and easily to each other, but now, her discomfort and confusion over her newly discovered feelings was driving an invisible wedge between them.

They reached her car and Killian yanked the driver’s side door handle, but it wouldn’t budge.

“You have to have the magic touch,” Emma stated. After breathing on the side of her balled fist, she rapped it on the doorframe just above the handle, then grinned at him triumphantly when she pulled on it and it instantly opened.

He was unimpressed. “I don’t think you need the magic touch, I think you need a tow truck,” he said dryly, rolling his eyes.

Giving a little huff, she settled behind the steering wheel. “My car might not be as fancy as yours,” she said, eyeing his Chevy Chevelle parked beside hers, “but it gets me where I want to go.”

“If you say so, Love,” he sighed. “Drive home safely.”

“I will,” she promised, then closed the door and fastened her seat belt. The VW’s engine roared to life, she pushed in the clutch, then shifted into reverse. After backing out of the parking space and putting it into gear, she waved at him and pulled out of the parking lot.

Killian watched the dilapidated bug until it turned the corner, before he got into his own vehicle. As he traveled home, he wondered about Emma’s behavior throughout the evening. Everything seemed perfectly normal for the first couple of stops, but after caroling to Marco, she hardly said another word to him.

He racked his brain to figure out what he did to upset her, but couldn’t come up with anything. When they were in the car, she was either talking to August or appeared to be lost in thought. After arriving back at the church, he thought she would join Mary Margaret, David and himself at their table. He didn’t think anything of her talking to Elsa and Anna instead of sitting with them, until he was walking over to ask if he could get her another hot cocoa. She still had a small piece of donut left, but when she saw him coming, she tossed it in the trash and hurried into the bathroom.

It was at that point that he realized she was avoiding him for some reason. Even though she walked with him to her car, she still hardly said anything to him.

The Christmas caroling was fun. He thoroughly enjoyed the fellowship with the other singers and seeing the obvious pleasure the caroling brought to the recipients, but as he drove home, he had a hollow feeling in his gut. He wished he knew why Emma suddenly seemed uncomfortable in his presence.

Emma couldn’t sleep. Once she got home after Christmas caroling, she soaked in a hot bath for a while, then tried to read, but her thoughts kept drifting, so she finally gave up and went to bed. Now, she was lying wide awake, while memories of the last seven months ran through her mind.

When had she developed romantic feelings for Killian Jones? And more importantly, what was she going to do about it?

She never had any luck with dating. Oh, she’d been asked out plenty of times, but it usually ended up being a one time thing. The only two guys she went out with more than once were Neal and Walsh, and both turned out to be losers. Maybe the problem was that she set her standards so high, nobody could meet them.

Killian Jones might just prove her wrong…if she gave him a chance.

Rolling onto her side, she stretched to grab her phone off of the nightstand and checked the time. Seeing that it was only a few minutes after eleven, she sighed. She felt like she had been in bed for hours, tossing and turning, trying to clear her mind of the swirling thoughts.

Almost subconsciously, she tapped on her messages app and scrolled through until she reached the thread with Killian. They sometimes texted late in the evenings, so she was sure he wouldn’t mind.

E: Are you awake?

K: No. Sound asleep.

E: Liar.

K: What’s up?

Emma hesitated before answering, debating whether or not to take a risk. Killian had become a good friend and she had no idea if his feelings were anything like her own. If she admitted them, would it ruin their friendship, or lead to something wonderful?

Finally, she made a decision.

E: Can I call you?

Within seconds, his name appeared on her screen as an incoming call. Taking a deep breath, she steeled her nerves and answered, “Hey, I hope you don’t mind me texting you so late.”

“Not at all, Swan. What’s on your mind?”

“I, uh, I wanted to apologize for tonight. You were right - I was avoiding you.”

There was a long pause before he replied in a quiet voice, “May I ask why?”

It was her turn to pause as she tried to establish what she wanted to say. “I didn’t know you had such a great singing voice.”

“My voice is what caused you to avoid me?” he asked incredulously.

“No, I…it’s just that I…” She heaved a sigh. “I’m screwing this all up.”

“Screwing what up?”

“My apology and my…confession.”

“Confession?” he asked, his tone heavy with confusion. “What are you confessing?”

“I…you know what? Just forget it. This is a conversation I’d really rather have in person.”

She heard him clear his throat. When he spoke his next words, she had to strain to hear him. “I can be there in fifteen minutes, Emma.”

“Killian, I’m not asking you to come over in the middle of the…”

“I know you’re not asking, but I’m offering. Is that alright with you?”

Emma plucked at her blanket, knowing she probably wouldn’t get any sleep until she talked to him. “Are you sure you don’t mind?”

“Positive. I’ll change clothes and be there as soon as possible.”

“Thanks, Killian. Drive carefully.”

After his assurance that he would, she hopped out of bed and tugged a hoodie over her pajama top. Then she began pacing the floor as she waited, trying to compose in her head what she was going to say.

Killian was never so glad that Storybrooke was small, since Emma lived on the opposite side of town. It also worked in his favor that the streets were nearly deserted and the town sheriff was likely snoozing in the police station, because he couldn’t help going a little over the speed limit to try to get there quicker.

His mind was racing, replaying what Emma said over the phone. A confession. What could that mean? Was she going to confess she didn’t want to be his friend anymore, or maybe she was dating someone? Engaged? Secretly married?

Stop it, he commanded himself. Of course she wasn’t married or engaged, or surely he would have found that out in the last several months.

Still, a confession usually meant something that was hard to admit. Could she possibly have feelings for him that went beyond friendship? Dare he hope for that?

Finally arriving at her apartment, he pulled up to the curb, cut the engine, and took a couple of deep, calming breaths. In a few minutes, he would find out whatever it was Emma wanted to confess. He just hoped he could handle it.

Emma was still trying to figure out what she was going to say, when she heard a soft knock on her door. Always the gentleman, she knew Killian wouldn’t want to wake her neighbors by knocking too loudly.

She gave herself a quick pep talk as she crossed the living room, then turned the knob and opened the door. If she hadn’t been so focused on the upcoming conversation, she would have laughed at her friend’s untidy appearance. He wore a pair of baggy gray sweatpants and a navy blue hoodie with ‘Adidas’ emblazoned on the front in white letters. His usually neatly combed hair looked like he’d run his hand through it numerous times and she saw a bit of toothpaste at the corner of his mouth.

Stepping aside, she waved him into the room. “Thanks for coming over.”

“Not a problem, Love,” he said.

She closed the door and turned to face him. It was obvious he was just as nervous as her by the way he rubbed at the nape of his neck. “Do you want to sit down?” she offered.

“Uh, sure.”

He sat on the edge of the sofa and she dropped down onto the other end of it, fidgeting with the drawstring of her hoodie. After several moments of tense silence, she said, “I guess I owe you an explanation for why I acted the way I did tonight.”

“You don’t owe me anything, but I’ll listen if you want to tell me.”

She gave him a small smile and he encouraged her with a slight nod. “I…we, um, we’ve known each other for over seven months now, right?”

“We met in May, so that sounds about right.”

“You’ve become a good friend to me, Killian. You’re easy to talk to and you always make me laugh, no matter how bad of a mood I’m in. But tonight, when I heard you sing, it was…it was like a switch flipped and suddenly I realized I feel…different towards you.”

When she paused for a few moments, he coaxed her to continue. “What do you mean by different, Swan?”

Slowly, she pulled her eyes up to meet his, and the gentleness she saw in the blue depths gave her the courage to go on. “My feelings have gone beyond friendship. I…I think I’m falling for you.”

Holding her breath, she awaited his response. The stunned expression on his face had her rethinking her decision to tell him, but the grin that slowly stretched across his handsome features soon pushed that thought away.

“I’m really happy to hear that, Emma, and I must say that it’s about bloody time!” he blurted, his eyes sparkling with happiness.

It was her turn to be stunned. “Wha-...does that mean that…that you…”

“I’m falling for you?” he said, completing her question. “I already did a long time ago.”

“Y-you did? But why didn’t you tell me?”

He nervously scratched behind his ear. “I didn’t think you were ready to hear it and I was afraid my confession would drive you away.”

“That’s why I was hesitant to tell you, too.” She paused and squinted at him. “You said a long time ago. Just how long?”

“Remember that day in August when you talked me into going to the beach with you? I was so self-conscious about taking my prosthesis off and letting you see my stump, but you grabbed me by the wrist to lead me out to the water like it didn’t bother you at all.”

“Of course it doesn’t. I’m a fan of every part of you, Killian,” she said, reaching out to take his prosthesis in her hand. “That was a long time ago. You kept your feelings hidden really well.”

“It wasn’t easy, but now,” he said, moving closer to her on the couch, “I don’t have to hide them anymore."

“No, you don’t,” she agreed, moving easily into his arms and peering up into his face; the look of pure adoration he wore melting her heart, while at the same time, making it beat faster.

Without a doubt, she knew she made the right decision.

It has to be a dream, Killian’s mind was telling him. Emma just confessed having romantic feelings for him and now she was in his arms, looking for all the world like she wanted to kiss him. This couldn’t really be happening, could it?

There’s only one way to find out, he reasoned. Closing the distance between them, he brushed his lips against hers, then pulled back enough to see her chasing after him, clearly wanting more. Who was he to deny her?

The moment their lips connected in a deeper kiss, the sparks flew. What he had been thinking for months was confirmed; he truly was in love with Emma Swan.

He would have happily continued kissing her for the rest of the night (or of his life), but a need for oxygen superseded his plans. Slowly opening his eyes, he took in the look of complete bliss on her face. “Emma?” he whispered.

When her beautiful green eyes blinked open, he saw the same happiness he was feeling reflected in them. “Yeah?” she breathed.

“I’m way past falling for you. I’m in love with you.”

It was his turn to hold his breath as he waited for her response, but not for long. Immediately, she surged forward to kiss him again. Then, as her fingers played with the hair at the nape of his neck, she replied, “Good, because I love you, too.”

Another breathtaking round of making out followed their declarations. Since neither of them was ready to let go of the other yet, they stretched out side-by-side on the couch, cuddling and kissing under a fleece blanket, while listening to Christmas music set to a crackling fire video on TV.

Soon, they were asleep in the arms of the person they loved. When Killian woke up In the morning with a crick in his neck from sleeping in an awkward position, he considered it well worth the pain.

Emma sat in the church on Christmas Eve, listening to Killian sing a solo of ‘O Holy Night’. It had been a year since she declared her love for him and a lot had happened since then, not the least of which was him asking her to marry him.

When he hit the high note towards the end of the song, Emma felt the now familiar tingle run down her spine. She was sure his smooth, mellow voice would always have that effect on her. As the final notes of the song faded away, she met his eyes and knew he would see all of the love and pride shining in her own, even in the dimly lit sanctuary.

He rejoined her in the pew and she entwined their fingers, then leaned in to whisper, “It was absolutely perfect, my love.”

A year ago, Killian didn’t want to sing loud enough for other people to hear; he never would have been brave enough to sing a solo in front of the whole congregation. Having Emma’s love changed that, along with so many other things in his life.

One thing that hadn’t changed was the fact that Emma is his best friend and soulmate. Having so few friends growing up, he cherished having someone with whom he could share everything. She is always there for him - listening, discussing, and cheering him on. Proposing to her was the easiest decision in the world.

It was her idea for him to sing a solo for the Christmas Eve service. As he prepared for it, he once again asked himself how she talked him into it, but the answer was the same as it was last year, when he made the momentous decision to go Christmas caroling.

He was utterly and completely in love with Emma Swan.

being a Graylu shipper am i the only one that doesn't like the idea of Lucy or anyone else being a Gruvia Shipper?

About Fairy Tail members being either complicit or enablers of juvia abusing Gray

You're definitely not alone, my friend! I personally am a Gralu shipper, but I don't necessarily agree just because of that.

I've said it in a post before, but I became an Anti gr///vian first and a Gralu shipper second. I totally understand people who don't like a certain ship just because they ship those individuals with other people, and I think that's a perfectly valid reason to hate a ship, as we can hate ships for mostly any reason. So, yes, being a Gralu shipper gives me another reason to not like it if Lucy were to ship gr///via because that basically just reconfirms that they don't like each other.

However, for me personally, I hate it whenever Lucy (whom I don't remember supporting gr///via very much if at all, but she definitely didn't actively oppose it to the best of my knowledge), Erza, or anyone in Fairy Tail/the FT universe supports gr///via mostly because that makes them, at best, complicit in juvia's abuse of Gray, and, at worst, enablers of this abuse.

I refuse to believe that manipulative and toxic affection was the true moral of Mashima's Fairy Tail, even if his characters actively advocate for it. I think he lost sight somewhere along the line of what it truly means to be a Fairy Tail member, and that means to be a loyal, compassionate, brave friend who always looks out for each other and love one another. juvia is none of those things, not even loyal to Gray, because what she does is a detriment to him, and she's really just loyal to herself and her "love" for him. Yet, Mashima promotes her behavior by giving her what she so desperately coveted in the end and by forcing his characters to be completely OOC and back up juvia, the slobbering, nasty, selfish pig, and not their loving, stalwart brother-in-arms and victim here, Gray.

That is despicable.

What's more, beyond how awful it is that FT people would rather back juvia than Gray, it's just bad, lazy writing. In no world would juvia be able to abuse other people and manipulate them and bully women and yet also be praised and protected and loved by those same people. Erza should have never sided with juvia over the 413 days matter or berated Gray for "not being clear enough" when he's been plenty clear. The other FT members shouldn't have ever blasted Gray for "leading juvia on". No one should even like juvia or want to be her friend because of what a b*tch she is.

Yet of course, everyone loves her for NO REASON. There are so many reasons to hate her (and honestly not one good reason to love her in my opinion), but does Mashima care? Absolutely not. juvia is his self-proclaimed self-insert's waifu, after all.

Anyway, true FT fans should be enraged that juvia lockser is one of the main people we are encouraged to be like in this show. They should be indignant that juvia has been made a poster child for this anime, when she embodies none of its values. They should refuse to accept this as healthy and desirable. They should balk at the fact that their beloved characters endorse juvia's actions and life choices, which are wholly unacceptable and unhealthy not only to herself but most importantly to others.

But lots of fans delude themselves, and the fans drive Mashima, so unfortunately, here we are, with a whole cast of characters who promote and affirm juvia, the least deserving of the Fairy Tail members.

For the record, I am not really talking about the fans who acknowledge juvia's toxicity but still like her and the ship because of a sort of suspension of disbelief. Honestly, there are many problematic or evil characters that many people like, and I usually see no problem with it if you are able to separate your fictional fantasies with reality. (Some deeply problematic things I do not excuse though). For example, I like Sukuna from JJK. Do I think he's a good person? Aaaaabsolutely not. He's a completely awful person. But still, I think he's cool and his power is sick, so I like him.

My issue lies within the area of the FT community who refuse to accept that juvia's behavior is deplorable and who attack anyone who tells them otherwise. These are the rabid fans who'd go for Mashima's throat if he dared to not make gr///via canon. I don't believe the fans who know juvia is a bad person but still ship gr///via would be so up in arms about it because this sort of self-awareness indicates maturity to me.

[Sidenote, the really aggravating and only thing that sets juvia apart from the characters who are literal villains and douches is that juvia isn't treated like a bad guy within the story. Sans some uncomfortable stares and sweat drops, she is largely treated like family, and everyone loves her. When even the canon material itself won't acknowledge a character's toxicity and awfulness to itself, of course there'll be people who don't think she's toxic. I hate that Fairy Tail lies to itself in this way. It just helps to turn the deluded fans against well-meaning Antis who speak literal objective truth, that the way juvia acts is not okay in real life.]

Plotbunny AU 5 - WELCOME BACK TO BEACON, LOVEBIRDS

(And we're back to this nonsense. Let's go, this world ain't gonna fix itself)

Come the day of Beacon's semester starting, Jaune gets to work being everyone's brother figure, while Alyx decides to get to know Jaune's siblings, her rivals for his hugs, his crush, friends.

Between Jaune hugging everyone who stands still long enough, the entire student body cooing over Juniper, and Alyx making commentary it all goes pretty good..

Then she drags him up to Weiss and Pyrrha, and Jaune becomes a stuttering mess. Alyx decides to ask the redhead who she is, since her saying hello gave Jaune a coughing fit.

Weiss asks Alyx if she knows who Pyrrha is, and when he says no, looks like she's going to start a tirade ,but Jaune plays peacemaker.

He thought long and hard, staying up late into the night: could he pretend he never recognized her again? Try and be ensure he becomes her partner again? game the system like that?

Manipulate her with false information and half-truths like everyone else did?

(No, never. Not in a million years. Never, ever. He's not the Jaune that loved and lost, he's a shadow of that man, but he could never dream of giving her anything but choices and support)

"This is Pyrrha Nikos, Alyx. She won the tournament in Mistral four times.... oh! And she's also sponsored by my favorite cereal, where I got the sweater from!"

Let it be known that Alyx is a reformed hellion and will game the system for Jaune's sake.

"Ohhhh, sounds important. You should partner up with Jaune here, he's brave and loyal and strong, and he deserves the best partner cause he'll be their best partner in turn! Like a knight from a storybook. Team Jaune will be the place to be-"

Jaune ain't having it. He'll protect Pyrrha from everyone, even his own misplaced feelings if he needs to.

"She's also a person who deserves to have her boundaries respected and for no one to project their wants or feelings onto her, Alyx. Come on, sorry you two, please have a nice day...."

(And Jaune misses Pyrrha watching him walk away with a laser focus.)

Initiation comes. Jaune takes Juniper out of his pocket and she grows to regular size, and Jaune lands safely in the forest...

And has a panic attack

He's already changed things, he's changing things, what if he messes up? What if it all gets worse? What if- THUNK

"Hello Again! Are you okay?"

There's Pyrrha, having jumped on her spear and ridden it like a surfboard after using it's propellant features and semblance to guide it.

Because of course she makes it look effortless; riding the spear until it landed in that tree, looking down at him while he looks up.

Something clicks.

She jumps down, hair falling, and without thinking about it, he catches her in his arms, holding her there for an instant that lasts forever before setting her on her feet.

There a small smile on her face, and his helm is hiding the tears in his eyes.

She speaks to him, a beaming smile on her face:

"So, is there anymore room on Team Jaune?"

He takes off his helmet, smiling in-spite of his misgivings as something seems to align within him. And from her beaming face, he thinks he eels it, too.

"Hardy har....partner."

Eyes lidded, Pyrrha calls her spear to her hand without a thought, smiling back at him.

"Then let's get going, partner."

Jaune helps her onto Juniper, and they rush off towards the Relics.

Together.

(It all mostly works itself out, to Jaune's relief. They kill a Nevermore and a Deathstalker, with style even, and Juniper actually dropkicks an Ursa over the horizon) (When he emerges from the Forest with Pyrrha as his partner, Alyx is very smug, the little brat. Jaune hugs her anyways)

While Jaune goes to classes, Alyx doesn't spend all of her time taking care of Juniper she needs to do other things or she'll go stir crazy.

If she doesn't distract herself from the fact that everything she knew is gone, she'll go mad.

So she reads, and watches videos on her scroll, but eventually, after reading her brother's book for the sixth time, she asks Ozpin for his thoughts on it, as the resident 'Legend Expert'.

Ozpin has many thoughts, and delights at the chance to discuss Legends and the truths behind them.

(And listen, Alyx is taking everything he says with a grain of salt, she has heard many rants from the Rusted Knight about him and his habit of omitting details, but his passion for Fairy Tales seems genuine)

And one day Alyx decides she wants to be Better, yes, but to help more people be Better as well.

"How would you like to help me write a sequel to this story my brother wrote? So everyone knows the truth, even if they don't know it...."

(Playing on that Ozpin seems to be the incarnation most obsessed with mythology and researching and lecturing about them)

And so they write, weeks going on and continuing even as the semester starts and classes begin, sharing hot chocolate and occasionally taking breaks to walk Juniper and check in on Jaune, training in the forest nearby:

>The Origins of the Rusted Knight: A story of the only son with seven sisters running away from his family's farm to become a hero like his family ancestor.

>The Girl Who Wished To Become Real: A tragedy that serves as a Stealth Prequel to The Girl who Fell Through The World, and touches on What Makes A Person.

>The Boy Who Returned Home: A tribute to Lewis, and all he did for her and her apology note and goodbye letter and thank you all in one.

(Ozpin does hug her after they write that and have Glynda let Jaune off from classes that day, strangely fond of this girl who understands him more than anyone but also takes none of his crap)

>The Four Who Finally Arrived: The sequel to the Tale of the Rusted Knight, featuring him surviving the original story, his long vigil coming to an end, and him returning home hand in hand with his friends.

>The Four Daughters: Ozma's own apology and farewell, memorializing his failures and regrets.

(Alyx gives him the hug this time, with Juniper purring. Jaune joins in, it's kinda his thing.)

>The Paper Pleasers: A Lighthearted Tale of a kind people who only want to beautify the land....... featuring the Rusted Knight in a comedic role for a change.

>Tales of the Ever After: A series of shorts and bits, telling fantastic blurbs about fantasy characters.

>The Tree and the Blcksmith: A creation Mythos story, featuring the beginning of everything, she who remakes others again and again, and two figures that become surprisingly important.

As the semester goes on, Alyx and Jaune call his family more often, and Jaune cajoles everyone else into doing the same. They argue a little, but eventually give in. Stupid himbo and his "call your family guys, cherish them!"

Weiss calls Whitley and Winter. It goes.... awkwardly. But by the third week of sunday calls, she could almost swear Whitley was looking forward to them. Odd. Stupid eyes, stinging when she thinks about it. And Winter is so, so glad to hear Weiss gush for minutes on end about her dorm's pets and her new friends.

Tai is relieved to hear his daughters are doing well and making friends. He's not so pleased to hear that their Uncle is apparently hanging around between missions, and says he might be hanging around Vale more himself. Weird.

Blake.... okay, Blake chickens out twice in a row. But the third time, Alyx slips in and presses the button for her before slipping out with a "Hi Mrs and Mr Belladonna, we got your daughter to call, don't worry we're keeping an eye out for her stalker, have fun catching up, bye!"

Brat.

But an hour later, Blake has red rimmed eyes and gives Alyx a hug, so she's not too mad.

Pyrrha calls her mother and, fortified with Jaune's hugs and everyone's encouragement, speaks about stepping back form her sponsorship deals while she's at Beacon and opens up about wanting to be more, feeling lighter afterwards.

Ren and Nora are dragged into Jaune's calls several times, and also Pyrrha's once she starts gossiping with her mother over things after their first call, and both will admit it helps more than they would admit to feel like they belong with these people.

And that's the dose of fluff. Tune in next time for Alyx's prank war against Cardin and Roman's second defeat at Juniper's paws (And Cinder getting rekked again, of course)

Alyx not being quite as good a writer as her brother but trying SO HARD and wanting her new brother’s story to be told. Wanting his suffering to be KNOWN and talked about so it’s not like OG Jaune suffered for nothing

Tai being rightly concerned about Qrow because of the plot stuff that the girls don’t know about, but also taking it as prompting to visit his daughters more often. Because god dammit visit your kids, you know where the school is

PYRRHA SETTING BOUNDARIES BECAUSE SHES FINALLY GETTING THE SUPPORT SHE DESERVES!!! YOU LOVE TO SEE IT!!!

Thank you for the dose of fluff. Can’t wait to see Cardin, Roman, and Cinder get wrecked

Also I can’t remember if the Blake Faunus reveal happened already, but if it hasn’t I can’t wait for that. Also can’t wait to see when/if Jaune’s whole deal is revealed

Because I know it’s not HIS trauma, but god damn with him going above and beyond looking out for everyone, I want him to have his break down and be supported by everyone he’s helped build up

My take on what the Pevensies' patronus/houses would be if they went to Hogwarts:

Peter: Gryffindor, Lion

I know this one seems obvious, but seriously. Peter was given a lot of responsibility from a young age, but he never once complained, instead taking to it graciously. He's a natural born leader, and his siblings and his subjects look up to him. He's fiercely protective of his siblings and will stop at nothing to keep them safe, including going up against a wolf to keep his little sisters safe despite his lack of training. He's brave, bold, often brash and impulsive, proud and stubborn, strong-willed and noble. He's also definitely got a soft side for his siblings, but them only, unless you're a close and dear friend like Tumnus and the Beavers. Lions are often called the "king of beasts," and Peter wasn't called "High King Peter the Magnificent" for nothing. Lions are brave, strong, noble, and leaders of their pride. They're also gentle with their cubs and teach and lead them just as lioness' do.

Susan: Ravenclaw/Slytherin, Doe

I could see Susan being either. Susan isn't any less brave than her siblings, but she's clearly less impulsive and brash, instead preferring to strategize and think through her plan of attack as seen when she tells Peter not to charge the wolf on the river. She's intelligent and quick-witted and more grounded, as seen when she tells Peter that they should stop and think their actions through before crossing a potentially dangerous river. She's also ambitious and resourceful. You see this when she, when it becomes apparent that they're to remain in Narnia for the remainder of the war, immediately goes to practice with her bow. She, while a gentle and maternal queen, was quite influential and powerful in her own right.She never let anything stand in her way. The Doe patronus represents gentleness yet strong determination. Fiercely protective of her loved ones, as displayed through her caring and nurturing nature. Edmund: Gryffindor/Slytherin, Tiger

we all know his character was based off of Judas, and the tiger patronus represents a unique sense of courage and willpower, able to rise above conflicts and pass through all forms of adversity with grace and skill. They're highly protective and territorial, going to great lengths to defend their loved ones and home. Edmund, while certainly cunning and ambitious, is also brave and bold. He's often seen by Peter's side as they charge into battle, leading the troops alongside his brother. He helps others, and like Peter, is chivalrous as well. Like a Gryffindor, he's impulsive and brash, as seen when he jumps into a fight in the train station to help his brother, as well as when he confronts the white witch and breaks her staff in half leading to his stab wound. Like Slytherin, however, he's cunning, as seen when he manipulates Miraz into dueling Peter by toiling with his emotions and poking at his pride. He's misunderstood like a lot of Slytherins are, as well. I think he could be either.

Lucy: Gryffindor, Otter

Lucy is 100% a Gryffindor, no doubt. I've seen a lot of people putting her in Hufflepuff, and while she is incredibly loyal and patient, she's incredibly brave and bold in her approach. She always puts others before herself and isn't afraid to get her hands dirty for a good cause. She's very skilled in sword fighting as well as archery, but she's also very kind and fair. As seen on the bridge where she stood off an entire army with only a dagger, she isn't afraid to tackle big challenges and has a need to prove herself, likely from being the youngest of four siblings. She's bold, as seen when she tells Peter that they're being too quick to fight. She speaks loud and proud about what she believes is right and will stand by her opinions. I think the Otter patronus suits her despite Aslan himself saying, "If she were any braver, she'd be a lioness," (which is also a clear indication of her Gryffindor spirit) because she's playful and curious. The Otter patronus represents life and purification, and we all know Lucy is pure and full of life. Otters are fearless and will pursue their curiosities as such. They're also associated with friendship, which I attribute to Lucy. She sees Narnians as her equals and has no trouble befriending new people/animals.

Clayton is the eldest and a veteran when it comes to Grub Killing. He can come off as intimidating but cares deeply about his brothers and helping them improve... although he has become a bit of a pessimist.

You are most likely part of the COG, either a veteran like Clayton or new like his brothers.

Carmines care deeply about family.

They help each other and would see their darling as very special.

At first you might be seen as a mentor to the younger brothers but a friend to all of them.

That's where things turn dark... you befriend all three of them, only for them to catch feelings for you as a group.

I imagine Benjamin is primarily delusional and clingy.

Anthony is bordering on overprotective/possessive but also affectionate like Benjamin.

Clayton is the most overprotective, a bit possessive, and intimidating.

They deal with their obsessions differently but are aware of them all having feelings for the same person.

Benjamin rambles about you like a childish crush, sharing ideas and fantasies with his brothers.

Anthony is similar but more grounded, agreeing with Benjamin that they can share such fantasies with you but brings up others having a problem with it.

Clayton is the one that plans taking out rivals, having his brothers subtly manipulate you, and protecting you.

They would take turns stalking you/clinging around you so they never have eyes off you.

They may even have group talks where they talk about you, what they love about you, what you did today... it's like having a fan club.

They will quarrel as siblings sometimes, even over you.

But in the end they know how to share.

Anthony often brings up plans and activities you could all do together, often wanting to suggest something "cool" for you and his brothers.

Meanwhile Benjamin wants to smother you in affection, never leaving your side.

To keep things clear, they're brothers sharing a partner... nothing else. (Don't make it weird)

They like to see you happy... they like to see each other happy...

What better way to achieve that than promising to share and care for you.

Even if you only want a relationship with one of them... the other two may be delusional enough to think they're included.

All while the one you're dating encourages it.

Mickey Mouse

Journalist for a small newspaper. Kind, honest, erudite and modest.

While performing one of his work assignments, Mickey met Mooney, the daughter of now-deceased scientists. And after Mickey, Pluto and Mooney together saved the city from Professor Eagle, the journalist decided to adopt the girl. He became attached to her (and it was mutual).

Mickey may not be a perfect father, but he is trying to at least be just a good parent (good luck to him).

Facts about him:

- Mickey used to dream of becoming a pilot. He studied airplanes and collected various models, and in the end there were so many of them that not all of them fit on the shelves. But it was not possible to enter the flight academy - another candidate took the last place (and after the events of the pilot, Mickey sold part of his collection);

- he plays some musical instruments (mostly the harmonica);

- before getting a job as a journalist, Mickey worked at AJAX (that’s when Mickey got Pluto🥰);

- Mickey has a notebook in which he writes down all his work material (and investigative notes). This notebook is like a guidebook from DuckTales - there are a LOT of notes here.

Manon «Mooney» Round (now - Mouse).

The daughter of the now deceased scientists, Celestine and Ryder Rounds, Mickey's ward. Mooney is a brave, inquisitive and quick-witted girl.

Manon has a phenomenal memory and excellent knowledge of the exact sciences, which she always uses to justify her participation in investigations. And although Mickey tries to keep Mooney away from work, she still interferes. It may seem like Mooney is stubborn and all about adventure, but... In fact, she doesn't want anything to happen to Mickey and Pluto. Manon is confident that with her skills she will be able to save her new family (after all, they saved the city together once - so the little girl’s confidence is not unfounded).

Even though Mooney has fallen in love with Mickey, she's not ready to call him "Dad" just yet. She will need time to get used to her new family (and not only her dad, but also her aunt and cousins). So for now she calls Mickey by name.

Facts about her:

- full name is Manon Angelina Round and she is 9 years old;

- Manon received her nickname, Mooney, from her parents after she began observing the moon through a new telescope (it was a gift from her parents);

- Manon also came up with a nickname, but for Mickey - Mars. Mars, Pluto and Mooney;

- before Mickey adopted her, Manon had never interacted with other children. Her parents taught her at home, and in the orphanage Manon was not eager to communicate with anyone. So, her first friends will be her cousins ​​- Morty and Ferdie;

- she often carries with her a backpack with wires, a couple of light tools, screws, coils - in general, everything from which she can assemble something (one might say that she has a whole electronic construction set there).

Pluto

Morty and Ferdie

Mickey's nephews, twins (Morty is 10 minutes older than Ferdie). The words “divide one brain cell into two” are about them. But despite their hooligan character, the boys are kind and friendly.

When Amelia told them that they had a new family member, the brothers thought that their mother had finally decided to take some kind of pet. But... It turned out that they were talking about a cousin. To say that the boys were surprised is to say nothing. However, they did not react negatively to Manon’s appearance - on the contrary, they liked her very quickly. She especially impressed the twins with her skills in robotics and programming. So now they will be giving Manon ideas for new devices.

The twins love to play football and baseball (and even go to their school's sports club). But if Morty is a calmer player, then Ferdie... Often goes ahead, thereby destroying his brother’s strategies and tactics.

Since their father works as an archaeologist and they rarely see each other in person, Morty and Ferdie are always waiting for him to call them or send them a package. The relationship between father and sons is very good.

One Tree Hill was so good at subverting character tropes.

Nathan starts off the show as an asshole bully. A total asshole jock. And then over time Nathan becomes a better and better person. He strives to be a better person and to make up for his mistakes. He starts hanging out with good people like Haley especially. But he stops hanging out so much with Tim and his other Basketball buddies and he stops allowing his dad to metaphorically poison him and we start to see Nathan become the man I knew he could be. He becomes so likeable and is a near perfect person by the end of the show. Nathan is a rock solid and dependable friend. A loving and present father. A faithful and loving husband. A loyal brother. A truly humble and sweet guy 😁💗

Haley starts the show in that smart bookish girl archetype. You know the one that Joey Potter and Rory Gilmore occupied before her. But Haley proved that she was so much more than that. Haley becomes a cheerleader which is such a twist cause typically the girls in that archetype hate cheerleaders and wouldn't be caught dead in a cheerleaders outfit. Haley is an amazing cook and baker and typically the people in that archetype cannot cook to save their lives and are very proud of it. Though I think Joey Potter was a passable cook. Haley is fucking Martha Stewart though lol. Haley is a musician and a singer and then eventually a music producer. One of my favorite twists is how she was valedictorian. Girls in this trope are destined to be valedictorian. But the twist with Haley is that she's pregnant and goes into labor while giving her valedictorian speech. Teen pregnancy is not usually paired with the smart bookish girl trope.

Brooke is kinda in the bitchy head cheerleader trope. And I hate to say that because when we start the show, she's already trying to change herself. But we do hear from that friend of Lucas' that Brooke was a bitch to her to say the least. Plus Brooke herself would say that she didn't used to be a great person. But Brooke eventually becomes such a great friends. There are some bumps along the way but speaking in general terms she was an advocate for her friends. She became her class' president. She started a successful clothing line while still in high school. She was generous and kind. And then grew into a truly stupendous adult... Brave, forgiving, loving, sweet, and kind. She truly broke out of the bitchy cheerleader mold.

Peyton maybe changes the least out of all the characters but she's a paradox from the beginning. She's a loner cheerleader. Some people scoff at her calling herself a loner cause she's a cheerleader and dating one of the star Basketball players but she does have quite a few loner tendencies.

Lucas is the character who has the closest thing to an inverse character development. When we start the show he's in the poetic, bookish, angsty "nice guy" male protagonist trope with a single mother to boot. The twist on that is that he's also a jock Basketball player. Lucas has good aspects about him. He's a good friend and good brother but if there's one thing he bad at it's being a good boyfriend. I don't want act like Lucas is a horrible person but there is definitely a decline in his character where he goes from being a seemingly perfect person to being severely flawed especially when it comes to his romantic relationships.

What is so great about One Tree Hill is their ability to create likeable characters. Even the characters you don't like at the beginning become likeable. And even Lucas, despite his many flaws, has moments of true greatness. Believe me, it is a skill to write likeable characters and it wasn't until I watched Dawson's Creek that I realized that some writers either have no ability of writing them or they love to write unlikable characters. Every single side character on Dawson's Creek is a one note stereotype and worse of all they are usually insufferable. And the likeable ones they completely mistreated in the writing.

Background/story

His mom died when he was little from Lothor attacking earth

His dad doesn’t talk about her much, especially since he took over the school, but Cam knows she was smart, beautiful, kind, and a badass

He does not know she used to be a samurai

Going back in time was some well needed closure for him because now he has an actual memory of his mom aside from glimpses

His dad is usually pretty good, but he has his moments of iffyness (he did lose his wife to his brother so… trauma)

He also has other students to take care of on top of his own son

Is very proud of Cam but forgets to say it

Cam thinks the reason his dad won’t let him be a ninja/ranger is because he thinks he’s weak/not good enough

So he trains everyday despite his dad not exactly allowing it

He is one of the best ninjas in the academy which is why he is unimpressed with the OG trio at the beginning of the show

Also held a bit of resentment because he was better at it than them but he was stuck behind a computer

When he finds out it was because his dad made a promise to his mom he kind of shuts down and pulls away 

He and his dad make up and have a long talk about boundaries and promises and ninjas/rangers

Cam thinks Shane is too full of himself and overprotective

(He feels safe with him in a way he isn’t anywhere else

He knows he can tell Shane he’s overwhelmed somewhere and he’ll take him somewhere quiet

He trusts him as a leader and respects how far he’s come

He really is his big brother

Even if he could lay off the hair ruffles)

Cam thinks Dustin is ariheaded and impulsive

(And caring and compassionate and passionate and brave and intelligent and the first real friend he’d ever really had

He loves talking to him about random shit

He’ll sometimes see how off topic he can get before Dustin refocuses on their conversation

Dustin is his little brother no matter what the other’s say about him being the littlest

He will protect him with his life)

Tori, while the smartest and usually the voice of reason, is quick to anger and just as impulsive, if not more impulsive, than the others

(She’s also devoted and kind

She’s always sticking up for him and not letting him fade into the background

She’s also brave and intelligent and loyal and confident in all the ways Cam wishes he could be

While he is older, he does, begrudgingly, see her as an older sister archetype)

Hunter is brooding and stubborn

(He’s also protective and a big fucking softie at heart

He trusts in Cam and doesn’t hesitate to let him take the reigns during a mission

They have a talk after they find out Hunter had part of the crystal about their parents and missing people

Hunter and Cam are equals in a way Cam hasn’ felt before)

Blake is way too smart for is own good and could not be any more obvious about his feelings about Tori

He wears his heart on his sleeve, very unintentionally

Cam was surprised when he asked him for ninja tips

But he was glad to show his expertise on the subject

Blake was the first to say out loud how Cam should be a ranger, Hunter saying he would be the best of them, and everyone else agreed)

The sassiest boi ever (Hunter is second)

Made a snide comment about Dustin’s inability to focus and Dustin gives him a whole rant on how he can’t and Cam feels bad and gives him the Adhd pamphlet before making him a sick ass weapon to make it up to him

Is a bit resentful of the rangers because he wants to do more than be the ‘guy in the chair’

When he makes Cyber Cam, he adds in what he thinks the rangers would prefer him to act

Is pleasantly surprised when they like him better than Cyber Cam (CC is chill after a personality shift)

Actually the best ninja at the whole academy even though he was never formally trained

Technically doesn’t have an element and his suit is a lot of tech and magic as well as his pure samurai badassness

The smart one and the only one with a consistent brain cell

Thought he liked Tori because of comphet

When under the love spell he realizes that no, he does not like her and she’s just a really good friend

Learned guitar, bass, uke, and basically every stringed instrument under the sun when he wasn’t doing tech stuff

Yes he plays violin, stop asking, that is not the most interesting thing he can play

Is the biggest introvert ever and is not a fan of crowds

But can deal with it for a time before he snaps

Also goes to college and ends up with a mechanical engineering and technological science degree before getting his PHD (he’s a bit of an overachiever)

Helps Shane out with the academy and Tori with college stuff

Encourages Dustin to get into mechanical engineering because he thinks he’d like it (he is correct)

Silly headcanon/AU traits writing time because I have writers block. Main four edition!

Kirby

He has a very sunshine-like personality. (In my AU, he technically is an adult, but I say that 20 is still really young for the silly orb species?) Despite the fact he may seem very unpredictable and manic, he can actually be quite smart! He is usually the most optimistic of of all of the four, and prefers to keep any possible faith he can in a plan. He is actually quite skilled at baking, making excellent lemon poppyseed muffins and strawberry shortcake! Although he loves baking, he also enjoys frolicking in the forest with Bandana Dee. He and Bandana actually have a collection of dried and preserved leaves and flowers, and they love to analyse the little bits of the plants. He often forgets that sometimes he should ask for help, instead of just purely acting to help others. Even though they are not related, he often considers Meta Knight to be the closest thing he has to a brother. This little pink orb is a huge fan of hugs and adventures! (In short: his MBTI type in my AU is apparently ENFP).

Bandana Dee

He is very shy, but secretly has a brave heart. Ever since he was a young waddle dee, he always had a love for plants and nature. Besides being a loyal servant to King Dedede, he owns an apple orchard, where he will sell the apples he grows and the foods he has made out of them. (Just like Kirby, he is around 20.) As a child, he was separated from his family by a large, destructive hurricane, where he is then taken in my the royal family. Dedede has always been his role model and father figure, even in tough times. To an extent, he is the "therapist friend", always kind and docile to his beloved friends. He deeply struggles with anxiety and paranoia, usually being the pessimist of the group. He always first sees the faults in a plan, until someone can convince him, of course. He rather enjoys writing and editing paperwork and such. (In short: his MBTI type in my AU is seemingly INFJ).

Meta Knight

Being the quiet mastermind, he seems to have a solution for every possible scenario. On the outside, he appears clinical and no-nonsense, but he truly is passionate for what he believes in. Usually he is seen working or training, but occasionally takes time to read or stargaze. For as long as he could remember, he always adored the stars and astronomy, slowly mapping the sky's plethora of lights and planets. (Contrary to Dedede's beliefs, Meta Knight is only 28.) Some seem to think he is quite self centered, however, this is a facade. Often, he feels incapable of acting on his own desires or interest, seeming as if he has no motivation to act if the only person it will pay off is himself. He thinks predominantly in statistics and numbers, usually being the risk-calculating realist of the group. He has a noticeable dislike for speaking, remaining silent whenever he can. He swore to protect Kirby as if he were his younger brother. (In short, his MBTI type in my AU seems to be INTJ).

King Dedede

The now gentle, once tyrannical king, Dedede is always a warm presence. Although he attempts to act stupid, he is actually highly intelligent! Even though he is the king, he has a generally informal and familiar way of addressing those he cares about. Perhaps he isn't as chaotic as Kirby, but he always brings energy to the table. A large part of his personality is that he can put up a good debate, but he can also be a comforting person. He chooses to not take his life too seriously, whilst also taking care of his beloved kingdom. At times, he is very optimistic and has the loudest opinion out of all of the group. He has a notably strange fondness for interior design. Dedede would do anything for his waddle dees, but he shows an even greater deal of compassion for Bandana. (In short: his MBTI type according to my AU would actually be ENTP, but that's hard to get across).

Personality: He is a very funny guy, a punny man if you will. He makes a lot of jokes and has struggled with his own apathy, but he is devoted and loyal. He gets along with almost everyone and is a bit of a smart-ass. When he confuses you, he’ll wink at you and then vanish. He can get a bit hostile and rude to anyone he thinks would be a threat to the immediate safety of his family. He is very laid back and enjoys a good prank or two. He also is very flirty when the right conditions are met. He is incredibly lazy and can be very apathetic, but he really cares a lot.

Appearance: It's Sans, Sans the skeleton.

Vanilla - Undertale Papyrus

Personality: He could probably beat your ass and you'd still love him for it. He believes in people and is an optimist, but he is not naive. He loves puzzles. He is a very kind and considerate skeleton. He is incredibly brave, gentle, and smart. He is very clever and knows a lot of things he doesn't actually tell anyone. He’s simply too good for this world, and everyone eventually falls in love with him. It’s difficult to dislike this lovely skeleton. He is, however, tougher than he seems and can get snarky with people who mistreat those he loves. He also isn't afraid of a fight.

Cardinal - Underfell Sans

Personality: He's a funny man, a punny man, but he has a temper.  Hes very straightforward and a bit flirty. He’s like a feral angry cat; once you become his friend and demonstrate that you’re not a threat, he’ll be all over you. He is a flirtatious boneman who loves to help others. He's extremely fond of animals and isn't afraid to get his hands dirty when it comes to fighting and helping animals. He is a very passionate and hands-on type of person. He is able to keep calm in dangerous situations and makes sure everyone is calm when danger is coming.

Appearance: He is a skeleton with a scar on his left eye and two golden teeth. His jacket is red and black.

Captain - Underfell Papyrus

Personality: The living embodiment of a feral cat energy bone man. He is easier to befriend compared to his older brother. He is hostile and harsh, but if you work hard enough, you can befriend him. He’s protective of his friends and will show hostility to protect them, but once you’ve fully befriended him, he’s really loving and sweet. He will also gladly carry you if you ask. He is harsh and cold otherwise. He can be very flirty on accident and he is very protective over his loved ones.

Appearance: He has a large scar on his right eye.

Navy - Underswap Sans

Personality: He is similar to Papyrus, but he takes advantage of his cutesy nature. He is very charismatic, bright, and intelligent. He knows how cute he is and uses it to his advantage like no other. He will befriend you and he actually can cook. He is loving and sweet af. He is incredibly stressed a lot and has a bad habit of not taking breaks, but he tries to take care of himself! He is an incredible workaholic and often needs to practice a lot of self-care when he can, which is usually a rare occurrence. He is trying, he swears.

Appearance: He has a small scar on the edge of his left eye.

Syrup - Underswap Papyrus

Personality: He’s definitely something. He is a very funny man, but he has his limits. He’s an introvert who also happens to be a social butterfly. He cracks a lot of jokes and is fiercely protective of his family. He works hard and often worries about his brother. He sometimes struggles to focus and work. He sleeps a lot and often is weighed by a lot of things. He is very flirty too and he is incredibly affectionate and will love and console you if you are in need. He adores physical touch.

Appearance: He has two small scars on the edge of his left eye. His jacket is orange.

Clove - Horrortale Sans

Personality: He's a sweet man wi with PTSD. When you first meet him, he’s a little hostile, but once you get to know him, he’s really sweet. He is very quiet and often uses his knowledge to find things out. He is very affectionate and enjoys cuddles. He has memory lapses, but nothing major; just minor details that are easily forgotten. He loves to cook and take care of animals. He likes to farm as well. He will also never let you go if you hug him when he is in a good mood. He is incredibly soft and he is also very warm.

Appearance: He has a large crack on the top of his skull. He also has a red eye light and a white eye light.

Cinnamon - Horrortale Papyrus

Personality: He's a sweet and gentle skeleton. When you meet him, he is a sugary sweet bone man. He is very strategic. He’s a little nervous and untrusting, but he’s an angel, and he’ll love you to death. He will take you in his arms, hold you tight, and never let you go. He is also concerned about your health and is a doctor, so he often checks on his loved ones. He is a rebel at heart and does not stand for injustice. He cares a lot for people and loves to help.
