Ok random things/hc bout the aha!sampo divinity AU i was thinkin of

Aha at some is like. Yknow what fuck it im gonna reincarnate as a human n see whats up w this. So he basically takes bits and pieces, dropped change n spilled drinks on the floors of taverns, scrapes the side of the universe, takes scripts and stories and anything made from human joy n makes a body out of it

He starts off as a kid cuz he saw kids n were like o those guys seem to have fun hell ya.

He makes sampo koski and Becomes Him. Is taken in by the masked fools cuz they are all a lil fucked up so spendin too much time w em or struggling to hide his divinity can scramble their brains only so much...... probably.

Also these ppl who worship him not realizing the scrawny kid they took in is aha????? Thats funny as shit

Sampo grows up normally. Well he kinda got it a bit wrong n he grows at a wayyy slower pace than humans but he jus says he got caught in a temporal anomaly or smthing.

It takes him a long time to really get a hold on his powers/presence/divinity and ends up making people go mad quite often. Sometimes on purpose.

The masked fools send him to planets, give him scripts and have him portray characters and sow chaos. He bends reality a bit sometimes to make the scripts more fun. He creates a major presence on the masked fools and becomes infamous in some planets n ships thay marginally survived him

(Some of the things he does cant be attributed to him and it puzzles people. Theres no way a mere human could change the colours of stars or rearrange galaxies n move planets a lil to the left, right? He makes entire waterbodies taste like beer and makes trees bleed when cut and flips mountains upside down)

The role he's given in Jarilo is his longest one yet. Usually he's just like a force of nature running through but this time he becomes a Person on this planet

He meets the underworld ppl and they all have different reactions to his divinity the longer he's around them:

Natasha is fairly sensitive to his power but it doesnt really overwhelm her. She hears childrens laughter when hes around and the air feels warm like sunlight that Belobog hasnt experienced since the eternal freeze and every time he brings her medicine or carries out of her requests she tastes bubblegum on her tongue. She never says anything but sometimes she Stares n it makes sampo squirm

Oleg tenses every time sampo shows up but eventually forces himself to relax. But he always has to be aware of sampo at all times, can't ever turn his back to sampo or be unarmed around him. He has no clue why and thinks theres something wrong with him and its his problem not sampos. But sometimes when he looks at sampo he can almost swear he sees something shift over his skin

Seele doesnt notice anything for a long time. She has to be around sampo for hours sometimes days without break. But eventually she just becomes irrationally angry with him. Everything sampo does grates on her brain and makes her want to attack him. She doesnt think anything of it and just assumes its because sampo is annoying.

Luka is one of the least sensitive to divinity. Any anxiety or unease he feels around sampo he just attributes to sampo being a shady guy. Sometimes sampo's laughter and his voice feels heavy in his skull though

Children in general are highly sensitive and resilient to the divine: sampo doesnt know why. Maybe because theyre brains are still developing? Because they arent stuck in their own ideas of reality n rationality like adults? Regardless Hook KNOWS sampo isnt normal. She doesnt question it, she just knows sampo makes things fun.

He finds a lot of responses with those in the underworld: some want to worship him, others want him dead, some cant look at him without feeling sick. For some reason the overworlders tend to find him more unsettling and disconcerting. Qlipoth probably has nothing to do with it but Sampo blames qlipoth

First, right off the bat its obvious you dont even know the definition of the thing you are defending. Pro ship isnt "supports ppl enjoying ships" it means when you partake in ships of all kinds, regardless of age, consent, or even if theyre family. Yes you too. Saying "supports" doesnt suddenly mean you are exempt from it. You are not a bystander. There are no bystanders in this sort of behavior, there are only those who allow it, and those who dont. Its that simple. I have seen the community, i know what i am talking about. I have seen ppl recklessly stumble around the concept of horrible, most of the time abusive relationships, no self awareness as to why in real life they are bad, only thinking about "shipping", alongside ppl who will look the other way, while trying to remain "neutral".

It is not a "neutral stance" and if you truly believe that then i feel sorry for you, genuinely, because someone fooled you. Yes. Fiction and reality are different things. But that doesnt mean they dont interact. That doesnt mean they dont effect each other. If fiction didnt effect reality, we as humans wouldnt have been making fiction. Thats the entire point. We love creations that effect us. From the fucking beginning we have been telling stories that make us laugh and cry, because they effect us. Even some change us. Shape us. Lets take for example; childrens stories. Like say a kids show, thats main theme is how kindness is good. Why would that show exist? To shape. To effect reality. By changing the kid. Helping them realize they shouldnt be mean to their friends, because their favorite character is kind to their friends, and it makes them feel good to be kind.

Surely youve watched kid shows as a kid? Seeing characters eat a delicious cartoonish meal that made you wish you could eat it? Doesnt that count as fiction effecting reality? Or perhaps you would argue that they are impressionable kids. That it isnt the same w adults. Then lets use adult examples. Like trans adults. Did you ever notice when some trans ppl have names they got from fictional characters? Because the fiction effected them and made them deeply connect with that character to the point of absorbing them into their identity? Like myself? A name of mine that i got from a video game, where i was called this name by fictional characters who fictionally loved me, which effected me to the point i found deep comfort in that name?

But please, lets get back to you. You say there are studies that show fiction doesnt effect reality. Where are they? Do you have a dependable source? You didnt include it in the ask, and since you seem to believe you are trying to open my eyes, im going to guess it was am empty sentence. I am not a child, simply saying "there are studies" doesnt suddenly make me go "oh shit scientists are working on this!" No. It makes me think yer wasting my time.

And ofc. The age old sentence. "Seeing murder on tv doesnt make you wanna commit murder." Really creative. Real original. Its almost like we were never saying that. Almost like we were saying "hey if you act like this thing that harms ppl is normal, ppl vulnerable to grooming might see it and think that the horrible thing happening to them is ok." Cuz yer trying to change the mind of the wrong person anon. Cuz its quite insulting, as someone who read fics where rape, and inappropriate age gaps, and other such things were ok as a kid. Which then, ya know, lead to me believing they were ok, which lead to the most horrible moments of my life. But, enough about me.

Lets discuss this demonizing over having moral purity you speak of. Demonizing is a strong word isnt it? It implies yer innocent, and we are guilty. As i have no way of knowing who you are, lets say for a second thats true. That yer innocent. Since you somehow found me i will assume we have similar media interests. Lets make up a scenario, hm? You are an innocent person, who ships Frunn and Frinn. Frunn and Frinn are brothers aboard a spaceship. They rarely get along, especially in such a limited space, most of the time the bonding is forced by Frunn manipulating his brother. He often takes control of Frinn, making him do things he doesnt wanna do. Yet you see it as romantic. Why? Wouldnt it make more sense to go "gee thats fucked up. Glad thats not actually happening" and move on? Why have you decided to instead imagine these two toiled brothers are romantic, even sexual with each other?

Are you not capable of media analysis? To dissect the ins and outs of their relationship, to understand the art of the eternal battle of family vs family? Or, instead of allowing yerself to process it, digest it, you moved towards the only way you can interact w media, via shipping. Maybe you say fiction doesnt effect reality, because you dont let yerself consume media, properly. You do not let it effect you, you do not wonder why this scene stuck w you, you do not want to have deep thoughts. When you say fiction doesnt effect reality, you are saying you do not see past the surface level of what you consume. You are telling everyone you are not capable of thought.

Yes, fiction is "make believe", but it also tells us things. For once in yer life listen to the story. It is real to us humans because we attach ourselves to stories. Teaching doesnt start and end with school match, it is in every single story. If fiction did not effect reality, representation would not matter. Kinning wouldnt exist. Fictive alters wouldnt exist. Hell for the love of god take cons for example. If fiction didnt effect reality we would not have cons. Period. Because ppl love to dress up as characters that have great meaning to them, or represented them. We would not have merch, of any kind. If fiction does not effect reality, why do we try so hard to make that fiction true? Why do we roleplay, and craft, and draw that which we love? Hell yer fuckin ships wouldnt exist either if it didnt. We wouldnt have art of any kind. We wouldnt create. Cuz we as humans, like i said, love things that effect us. Fiction, as an art, effects us. And acting like it doesnt is not only false, but sad. Cuz it shows you are trying to deny the human call to let things effect you. And yer denying the harm that it can cause if yer reckless. Yer denying the countless ppl who have consumed yer art, and let it effect them, either of its beauty, or of its contents showing something is normal, which truly it isnt.

"Antis" as a whole are not trying to wipe out all problematic content. I for one have a fondness for movies and books that explore the darker sides of things, dissecting and unraveling and revealing why it is bad, yet the offender sees it as good. Its just when you simply, utterly devote yerself to making this, in the fictional world, seem normal, it gives off the impression you want it to be normal in real life. The fiction has effected you. Figure out why and fix yerself.

because none of my irl friends watch stranger things/arent caught up and i need to make my predictions somewhere ive decided to share my volume 2 predictions here because i need written proof somewhere if im right:

POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD CUZ I REFERENCE VOLUME 1

-joyce hopper or murray is gonna die. one of the major deaths will be the three of them. my money is on joyce.

-steve and robin will survive. steve is too popular a character to kill off, people will literally stop watching if he isnt in it. plus im p sure some netflix head or producer or something said steve will never be killed off. i saw this in a screenshot of a news article on twitter that i can no longer find so its possibly fale but i still think its unlikely for steve to die. robin wont die because shes (so far) i think the only canonically confirmed lgbtq+ character and that would look BAD for the duffers. plus we need to see where she and steve work in szn 5. these two i think are safe.

-now. nancy eddie jonathan and argyle. one of them is gonna go. nancy dying would be a HUGE twist considering shes one of the strongest characters (do not tell me shes not. she is.) the end of volume one however makes me think this wont happen because we still see nancy in the trailers so either the trailers are a fake out to make her seem safe or shes actually safe. im up in the air. eddie is a classic case of likable character getting introduced and built up so his death will be more painful (remember bob and alexei? yeah. like that) BUT since hes so heavily queer coded and well liked by fans this could look like killing ur gays again and the duffers may have steered clear. in all honesty my gut is telling me eddie is safe but i know not to trust my gut so out of these four i dont think hes the most likely to die but its still possible. jonathan might go just to give will more angst but at the same time he hasnt been relevant enough this season to make it impactful. however if a jancy break up happens OR nancy dies vecna could use that against him and give him the boot as well. argyle is either totally safe and wont even be all too involved in the season or fighting and remain a comedic side character for szn five or hes gonna make a huge and shocking sacrifice that no one sees coming because of his comedic presence. its a toss up for him. out of these four i think eddie and nancy are the most likely to go because one of the four teens in the upside down is probably gonna go i think.

-dustin. im sorry yall but i think dustin is gonna die. hes been too safe this entire series. hes a lovable character and the glue of the group. they might kill him off to make everything seem hopeless until someone begins to rally behind avenging his death. the glue almost always dies people. im scared for dustin but i rlly think this is the end for him.

-were gonna get a new couple. it wont be steddie or ronance sorry to break it to ya but theyre rlly pushing stancy and honestly i think they might do stancy so steddie and ronance are out of the running. robin and vickie is a possibility for me. i think theyd go for that one.

-mileven wont break up im sorry its not gonna happen millie and finn both have said that theyre like soulmates or some shit in interviews so i dont see that happening anytime soon

-seeing as vecna has never targeted the same person twice (yet at least) i think max and will are both safe and all the theories and ‘evidence’ pointing to will being vecnad are just a red herring

-HOWEVER i do think mike is gonna get vecnad. like dustin he has also been too safe in this show and i think that if something bad happens to eleven or mike (likely) mike is gonna blame himself and vecnas gonna get him

-lucas might also get the chop. i dont have any reasoning for this other than my gut feeling. so maybe not.

-lumax gets back together before tho

-008/kali is gonna return. if not in szn 4 then szn 5. theres just so much left that could be done with her character that could be discovered.

-the painting is gonna be of mike (and possibly the rest of the gang as their dnd characters) and this is gonna lead to will coming out

-jasons gonna get the chop cuz he was what steve was originally meant to be. steve was supposed to die szn one as a typical douchy all american boy but he was too charming and layered ao they kept him. jasons gonna get the chop.

now. what do i WANT to happen?

-everyone survives. ronance. steddie. lumax. mileven break up. i dont know if i want byler to happen or not. i just dont hc mike as anything other than straight but hey if byler ever does happen id be down for it. i just think a mileven break up would be good for mikes character development. dustin and susie reunited. jason getting the chop. argyle and eddie become stoner besties. el and hopper reunion. everyone is happy happy happy. will any of this actually happen? most likely not.

a batfam/wayne family groupchat would literally never happen in canon but it would be so fucking funny you all don’t even know, so i will do it anyways.

the chat just kinda... starts. no one know where it came from. who added them. who??? none of their emotionally stunted asses would be caught dead making making a family chat tf? why can’t any of them leave? they smash their phones and then on their laptop a notification pops up like “you’ve joined ‘x’ group” and they’re stuck there. might as well use it ig, but for what???

“everyone who is alive type ‘i’” no one responds so bruce spends hours trying to find out where their bodies are until he finds out everyone just had the chat on mute

“why isn’t alfred on here” “huh. alfred isn’t on here and no one knows who made the chat?” “so whoever made it just left immediately?” “...” “lol anyways”

tim was trying to send a snap to the core four gc but accidentally sent it to the family chat and gets super embarrassed (of course this happens when everyone’s online why wouldn’t they if it makes tim’s life more difficult) and everyone makes fun of him. duke printed out copies and plastered them all over tim’s apartment while tim was out for something and tim nearly murders duke. after that no one puts the chat on mute because this was too funny.

no one actually, like, texts on a regular basis because they’re not like other families 🙄 they only text if it’s really important or someone’s dying.

dick: 3-texting, 3.5-online because he’s the only one in this hellhole of a family that has an actual job (in this house we uphold gymnastics teacher grayson 🙏) and sometimes he won’t have energy to text. so. but he does make an effort when he can. he’s online more than he texts because he’s able to sneak looks at the fights when he has downtime during his job and wants to see the drama lmfaooo. also everything goes on in his fucking apartment for some reason, so now he gotta break up a (one sided) fight between cass and tim because someone has to be a responsible adult.

cass: 2-texting, 10-online because she watches more than she texts? she’s more content to watch what’s going on than to join in. also 8/10 she’s usually the one causing the drama that everyone’s texting about, like beating up the others, so she can’t text while beating them up. i mean she could, but she wants to put more energy in beating them up (lovingly) (cass is basically violence (loving)) and watching what everyone’s saying about her fights. she’s always online to catch a glimpse at the drama. also most of her texts are to dick to see bitewing. and ask for money.

jason: texting-8, online-4 because if cass is the one causing drama offline, jason’s causing drama online. jason wants to be chat cryptic but texts the most lmfaoooo. he’s antagonizing his siblings whenever he sees them and whenever he can’t, king shit. he’s online less because he deadass doesn’t care that much, he’ll read the texts later if he really wants to, otherwise either duke or tim will fill him in on the drama. duke: texting-4, online-4 because he has, like, school. and daytime patrol. and is like a junior in high school and therefore has a fuck ton of homework. my boy has no time for family and he doesn’t want it because they’re annoying, obviously 🙄. if he wants drama he’ll go into damian’s room and get the drama. diy icon. he’s online as much as he texts but is so fast of a reader he’ll know the drama in time for the next episode of wayne family shit. most of his time online is picking fights with tim and roasting his siblings to a crisp. he’s so mean, guys, legend has it that one time duke told jason that his helmet looked like a shriveled up dildo and that it could never be the gay statement he wanted it to be jason went offline for that entire day in order to cry himself to sleep. at least he got sleep (allegedly) ayyy duke the problem solver.

sooooooo i found something out about japanese anime dedede from kirby right back at ya (ik thats the name of the dub but idc)

im not saying theyre a bad person, cuz what they told me was good, and it was basically exposing something controversial, its just that it contains sensitive content

basically i found a post comparing the "virgin" anime dedede (the japanese one in particular) and the "chad" game dedede, and one of the reasons anime dedede was a virgin was because he was homophobic

ace/clover (which one do u wanna be called or do u not mind both?) clarified by saying that japanime dedede himself was a homophobic stereotype

the only example they wanted to give was in an episode where dedede wanted to break escargoons shell so he could see his body

and apparently thats an extremely offensive gay stereotype

ace of clovers recently told me the stereotype involves assault just as i was finishing typing this whole entire thing

but this was long before japan made it illegal to lgbt discriminate (i actually dont know if that was true or not about japan but i read it in an article)

still tho its disgusting and stupid that a character from a kids game made an anti lgbt joke in front of, well, kids

and the fact i havent seen ONE piece of japanese media that perfectly depicts lgbt people in a positive way pisses me off even tho they literally have a law that says u can no longer be like "haha gay people suck"

like srsly they need to step into the west a lil more

also speaking of the previous sentence i saw an article about some japanese twitter users roasting western artists for "censoring" anime characters and making them look "ugly" and they also criticized their art styles too

altho i think that actually happened a long while ago tho its still extremely disgraceful and not to mention racist

the lack of diversity, representation and inclusion in japanese media sickens me and honestly if i could id go back in time and beat the ever-living BALLS out of the person who had the "good" (sarcasm) idea to make a fan-favorite from a cheerful game-to-show homophobic and show it to a child audience

and altho it LOOKS like they said sorry with kirby fighters 2 making dedede and meta knight loyal friends, they repeatedly confirm that the two are NOT GAY, and that its just a platonic close relationship (but not to the point where theyre lovers, so technically the ship was sunk and nobody knew about it), so basically its a fake apology and, once again, a fart in the general direction of the west

soooooo ye thats it

but it dededisgusts me that some asshole behind hal labs said "hey lets make a character with a good redemption arc homophobic and put a homophobic joke in there that will hopefully teach kids that being gay will make u dumb and also only make the character do one good thing throughout the whole show and for the rest of it make him an asshole to everyone, especially children" and everyone else there actually agreed to that

-Sam met Steve like 36 hours ago and he’s already being arrested and made into a government fugitive with him and it won’t be the last time

-Steve is the only one entirely restrained

-Everyone meets Sam and is just like “aight let’s trust him with the highest clearance security information”

-Steve looks super nauseous all through the scene where Rumlow is handcuffing him and later when he says, “he looked right at me, like he didn’t even know me” he sounds sick and choked up

-Steve carries a lot of weight on his shoulders

-Steve’s “Bucky?” after the highway battle and Steve’s “Bucky?” in Bucky’s memory in the Vault Scene being different (in Bucky’s memory, he looks more heartbroken)

-Sebastian’s acting. Just all of it. And the way Bucky just opens his mouth for the mouth guard before he gets wiped....heartbreaking

-Steve realizes an organization that was meant to protect the people has become its own antithesis so hes like “aight. get rid of it” damn that’s the right mindset right there

-In the memory scene after Sarah’s funeral, Steve is so out of it and distressed, that he can’t find his key but Bucky immediately knows exactly where it is and what he’s lookin for

-Bucky was vain as shit and also had money: tailored suit, hair w shit ton of brylcreem in it

-The big breakfast Steve had was at Sam’s house

-The whole scene on the helicarrier between Steve and Bucky is incredible here are some highlights: Steve never backing down from a fight until it’s Bucky he’s fighting, Steve dropping the shield for him, Steve being ready to die if living means he’s living in a world where Bucky’s alive and doesnt remember him

-Their acting in that scene is so genuine and heartbreaking i can’t- i can’t-

-Steve’s got a comm i’m so chances are Nat, Sam and Maria can hear a portion of what’s going down on the helicarriers

-“I’m with ya to the end of the line” is basically “til death do us part” so the equivalent of wedding vows between Bucky and Steve is what ultimately broke Bucky’s conditioning

-When bucky fell, steve didn’t jump after him but when Steve fell, bucky went after him even tho he’s brainwashed. don’t think about steve’s guilt surrounding that. youll only get sad

-Bucky waited until Steve took a breath to leave him

-Sam waited by Steve’s side in the hospital

-In the end credit scene, Bucky and Steve originally were supposed to make eye contact, but the writers didn’t want it established that Bucky remembered Steve until CW

im just finished shatter me and im just ok with this book. its not as amazing as ACOTAR but it has potential and similar enemies to lovers/not first handsome boy they meet is their lover forever.

i scrolled through the tags and saw that Juliette and warner are end game but he was such an ass to her in book one??????????? nobody was listening to her nobody was telling her anything warner was so fascinated by her??? also made her super uncomfortable??? he seems like a crazed lonely man seeking comfort from a crazy lady than like actively trying to be a good person?? like let me guess hes got a shitty dad and absent mom/dead mom and has no friends cuz he can’t trust nobody since hes an offspring of a powerful figure who is responsible for a corruption and greedy government?? i mean it is from juliette’s pov and shes not familiar w him and maybe some shit happens w adam later in the books but the whole entire time warner speaks w juliette hes just talking over her, not answering her, not listening. ignoring her replies and just saying he knows whats good for her while she is clearly not sure what is happening and needs comfort. its literally like hes hoping stockholm syndrome takes over so she can be “his”. adam was gentle and kind. he seems to want whats best for her rather than ramming her into this idea of who she should be. i can’t believe they wont actually work out???? i cant believe the dark hair tattoo man isn’t the good guy in this situation???? im so confused????

also this book literally had 3 lady characters and two of them show up for 2 seconds cuz theyre the healers and disappears. juliette interacts w literally just men. just so many men. so many men picking her clothes. men telling her what to wear. so many men touching her. so many men just oogling her. so many men just putting her in truly disturbing situations. smh i expected better.

i think i’ll keep reading to support kenji since hes literally the first asian main supporting character in a ya sci fi book ive ever read who has a big personality (abet kind of a goofy fun loving perv type personality???)! also whats w ya lit and the same age gaps? in every YA lit ive ever read, its always the main character would end up w a guy who is either 2 yrs older or +100yrs older (in fantasy lit).

Yo as the only Micheal Crew fan (prolly), can I just say I’m so fucking salty that he died how he did?

Homeboy’s been hinted at since the fourth episode in this entire goddamn series, he’s been repeatedly connected to the Leitner books (which I guess are less important now that we’ve met Jurgen Leitner and we’ve got Gerard but uggggghhhh), he’s got a cool lightning scar and backstory and everything!

And once we get to meet him? He’s so intriguing-he ‘s polite even as he forces Jon to just fall through the air, he has a great voice (both literally and writing wise), and once he explains his backstory it doesn’t dissapoint. You get the image of this scared child whose been searching for protection and meaning his whole life. This creature’s been following him ever since he’s gotten his lightning scar, you kinda get that it’s the personification of his past even if he connects it all back to the Vast. To an extent, he kinda describes his relationship with his scar and his journey in self discovery all as both finding meaning and acceptance in the Vast. The moment he figures out what’s been calling to him is also the moment he accepts his past and his trauma. It all makes sense and comes together.

What I also find particularly interesting the way he laments about never being able to remember the most important events of his life, as I feel it’s something we all can relate to. Traumatic or not, negative or positive, many of us have trouble recalling the most life-changing events of our lives. We feel frustrated over this, we beat ourselves up for it, it’s just apart of life. In Mike’s statement this is such a small detail but it’s one that resonates with me deeply.

They set up Micheal Crew in such an engaging light and make him feel so real. I will admit that I’m not sure how much more they could do with him as this episode tied up pretty much all loose ends in his story. That being said, I would’ve absolutely LOVED to see more of him! He has an intruging personality, a cool backstory, he could’ve been a neat reaccuring character or something.

But no! Daisy Fucking Tonner just needsa bust down the fucking door and be like “YO THIS BITCH HUMAN?” And Jon’s like “uhhh ig not” and Daisy’s like “WELL THAT MEANS HES GONNA CATCH THESE HANDS.” AND JUST FUCKING SHOOTS HIM???

FUCK THAT NOISE.

YOU BUILD UP A CHARACTER OVER THE COURSE OF THREE SEASONS, WE MEET HIM AND HE GIVES US HIS LIFE STORY, THERES STILL SOME ROOM FOR HIM TO GIVE US ANSWERS OR SOME SHIT, THEN YOU HAVE THE A U D A C I T Y TO JUST YEET DAISY IN AND HAVE HER SHOOT HIM OUTSIDE?

I am fully aware that I’ll wake up tomorrow and deem all of this as invalid and unreadable, I just needed to get this all off my chest. In all honesty the main reason I’m upset is because the Vast is my personal favorite entity and Micheal’s statement is a good summation of why

People affected by the Vast are just that-people. Well, all statement givers are people, but the Vast’s statments I find are much more grounded and down to Earth. They aren’t as out there or over the top like the Corruption or the Stranger. They’re just little ‘tweaks’ in someone’s perspective that shakes their core. It takes mundane occurances and pushes them to their extreme. All the Vast did in “High Pressure” was make someone feel as though they were sinking forever and forced them underwater. It’s some you could probably picture happening to yourself more clearly then say, being attacked by War Ghosts. (NOT bashing on War Ghosts btw, they’re just a different brand of spooky.) The type of fear that the Vast victims have is also kinda different to me. I’m not sure how well I can explain it but best I can describe it is that it feels like geunine trauma that someone with that phobia would experience? I still don’t think that’s quite right but take “A Long Way Down” for instance, where the statement giver’s brother suffers from Acrophobia. That’s a real boy with Acrophobia! I feel who he is as an actual person as I follow his life, I know his worst nightmare, and once you see what happens to him, you completely feel both from him and his brother. Or in “Freefall” where you see a mother mourn for her son’s trauma and death. She saw something he loved suddenly turn him so, so afraid then saw the very thing he feared swallow him up.

It’s just any average person greiving their loved one’s trauma or being pushed to a limit you can see yourself being pushed to. It’s all very grounded in reality and makes it all feel that more real. And I feel like Micheal Crew’s statement just summed that up so well. He’s such a perfect face for what I love about the Vast. He’s just a person at his core, who was scared and needed guidance.

It’s just that the way it ended and how adruptly he was killed left a sour taste in my mouth.

fred as a ghost is some sad shit and im only here to make it sadder but LISTEN. there is something to be said for the fact that he’s the only person fp cant hurt because he has no body lmao and like... leave it to fp to fall in love with a fucking dead guy but ya know, thats his life. so then they have this whole arc of fred helping fp work through his shit and get control of his powers (listen idk how dragons work like i know dragon aus exist but ive never read them so... this is my own interpretation) while simultaneously fp is helping fred figure out how to cross over because thats what all ghosts are trying to do. and it ultimately has this bittersweet ending where theyve both helped each other but fred has to go and its real sad and im honestly about to start crying so we’re moving on

hermione as a witch is real funny to me cuz usually in these supernatural dramas the witch characters are always sacrificing themselves for everyone else and theyre the ones everyone goes to for help and they always have to save the day but hermione is just not that bitch lmao like, dont get me wrong, she does end up helping everyone and saving the day.... but she’s not happy about it. she does love to put hexes on people tho and she’s a savvy business woman who sells a bunch of fake shit to hipster “witches” cuz its trendy but she would never give away her real magic (her and hiram together... powerful)

mary is very much the protector of everybody (i mean, a lot of them have protector qualities but mary, as an angel, is the leader). like yeah shes sweet and loving and caring but shes also very much a biblical angel and will fuck some shit up. she is powerful. do not mess with her

sierras like a true blood fairy. minus the orgies maybe. or maybe she likes the orgies i dont know her life, thats up to her. but sierra shooting light balls out of her hands is a 10/10 concept i can see is so clearly in my minds eye.

I’m curious, what’s your opinion on modding Minecraft?

i personally dont play with mods simply cuz i dont know how to install them nor are there any mods that i feel like “wow! i HAVE to play with that some day” about. But theyre a often overlooked part of minecrafts history! modders and the developers have always been extremely tightknit. The game you play today is the way it is because of minecrafts modders, you owe them pistons, smoothlighting, the ability to use commands, worldedit and so much more.its something ive never seen with another game and its honestly kind of amazing how minecraft isnt just made by one team, its made by the entire community. So i dont play with them myself, but i love and support the minecraft mod community and so should you!Though, if i can be a little salty i dont like how every second screenshot of minecraft on tumblr is of a room with shaders and a decorations mod, you can build pretty stuff without cluttering it with a billion potted plants and slapping a shader on it. ya cowards

most of my headcanons kinda flow into my own version of dick figures because i’m not very Satisfied with canon NJSJDNSKM so like. for example red doesn’t just kill people or whatever. he gets into fights and has scars and wears bandaids a lot bc of them

he graduated college with blue, he got a bachelor’s degree in fine arts (honestly idk how college works bc im a grade 10 baby so if thats like totally wrong just let me know also im. canadian so idk how american school system works LOL)

red got suspended a lot in high school but never expelled. mostly bc he got in fights that were mainly him protecting stacey from shitty people (he sees her as his sister so he was rlly protective) and the school wasnt really sure what else to do so they just. you know. suspended him a bunch of times hoping itd do something but it didnt

he hates his dad! reason being is bc when he was born, his dad was actually an alien able to disguise himself as human, so he wanted to take red back to his home planet cuz red turned out to be more powerful than anything his dad had ever seen. but red’s mom was like Nope, so she snuck out with him and his plush cat (kitty amazing) and they were never found. red is very close with his mom and is scared of his dad coming back someday

we know he canonically likes rlly loud music so im just gonna project here and say he’s a metalhead. at least, some form of it. he likes the alt scene music and industrial rock. examples being deftones, nine inch nails, skinny puppy, rage against the machine, kittie and others. it keeps him focused and calm

we know blue was bullied as a kid but i dont wanna say red also bullied him bc i feel like thats just wrong to me? MAYBE ITS NOT ACTUALLY but it just makes me sad so like. lets say red, being as protective as he is, stood up for blue a lot cuz he was like “oh this kid cant fight” so he knew what to do

blue dated pink for awhile but they mutually agreed to break up after blue realized this wasnt what he wanted (he came to the conclusion that he was gay, well, he knew for awhile but it was Internalized Homophobia)

he grew up in a very conservative family so to see the world completely differently by meeting red, ems (lt), pink and stacey was a very good thing for him. unfortunately even tho his family did love him, it was conditional so they stopped talking to him after he came out. thankfully he’d already graduated high school by that point

despite being emotional blue isn’t very good at understanding how he’s an emotional person. he’s able to distinct one feeling from another and analyze them, but it’s just... hard for him to kind of. process WHY he feels a certain way? which is what’s led to a lot of his struggles in getting closer with ppl

he loooves reading and writing we already know this but i mean come on. he also got a bachelor’s degree in english/ela. so he’s able to become a teacher ig but he doesn’t really want to? at least not for awhile yet

blue was ems’ first friend. at first he couldn’t understand why they had tics but decided he shouldn’t get into someone else’s business. he didn’t find it weird, just cool!

he and red would always pair up for projects if they had classes together!!!!!! blue would do the writing/research and red would do the illustrations. they always turned out really good even if it ended with red cramming it at the last minute

surprisingly hates broseph more than red. well i mean its not surprising, because broseph was always a huge DICK to him

blue’s real name is wyatt!!!!! i forget the meaning but i felt the sound of it and the meaning fit him well

pink is very very smart and will help anyone who’s struggling with something in school. she was basically the genius who always got in the honor roll every year. but, she actually was really anxious especially with exams

pink encourages stacey to go back to school, and sometimes stacey does, but she always ends up leaving again. it’s a little stressful but pink has hope for her

she’s never drank one sip of alcohol in her entire life. she smoked weed once, but it felt weird so she didn’t do it again

ever since she and blue broke up she’s been very supportive of him bc she herself is bisexual!!! so she sees nothing weird about it. in fact, about almost a year later she started dating stacey

pink’s real name is lily. when she became friends with blue she met red through him and she was like “can i join your nickname thing” and they said “sure” so they called her pink. stacey sometimes calls her pinky or just pink but mostly lily

pink helped red with academics. even tho he was sometimes insufferable to work with (/j thats a Joke i promise she’s a very patient person) she didn’t give up on him!!!! in return he helped her out with some fitness stuff cuz pink was always insecure about gym, and later when she graduated she actually got into exercising bc of red!

she loves travelling and going for walks. she owns a lot of houseplants and she’s given them all names and takes very good care of them! she also owns an albino ball python named Velvet

STACEYYY!!!!!!!

stacey is nOT actually all about sex this time ok. i don’t like that. i mean she did have some personality in canon but it wasn’t much? anyways she just really likes to express herself thru tight/”risque” clothing like fishnets and leather and pleated skirts and thigh-highs and platform boots, all of that. basically she’s a goth girl but doesn’t really “act” like one

she’s really intelligent when it comes to animals and insects and will tell you anything you need to know. when she goes back to college she gets a degree in environmental science

stacey can play the electric and bass guitars!!!! she was in a band back in high school but it never really went anywhere beyond performances at parties in someone’s garage. not that she didn’t like it, looking back on it makes her feel happy, but she wished it continued. probably why she has a hard time going back to college bc she’s not sure what she really wants

stacey is a trans woman btw!!!!! unfortunately it was a little difficult in high school to be who she was bc some kids were jerks, but there were a lot of others who supported her which is good

she views red as her brother as well and they still hang out a lot

i haven’t really had time to focus on stacey and make headcanons and stuff for her so i don’t have a lot but... let’s say, secretly, she’s a scifi nerd. and for the sake of debate, let’s say she’s a marvel fan. if you count being a fan of deadpool as being a fan of marvel

they r very artsy too and like doing crafts cause it gives them something to focus on. it’s just a hobby though it’s not something they’re Professional at

they love nature and flowers and trees and all kinds of plants and animals!!! they like to document what they see when they travel thru nature and stuff so they bring a camera with them (and their phone, but, you know whatever)

ems was never really affected by things people said to them regarding their syndrome. to them it was something they were born with, so they couldn’t bother to feel bad about themselves. in certain situations theyre able to control it but 90% of the time they don’t care about what ppl think

aaaand there u go!!! as for minor characters like raccoon, jason/trollz0r, broseph, dingleberry, they all exist (raccoon isnt a racist stereotype tho), i just dont focus on them a whole lot. most of my hcs for stacey and ems here were thought up on the spot since i havent had time to lay out all my ideas for them but i hope what i have here is good !!!!

QUESTION 1. What has been your favorite scene in the comic so far? What specifically did you like about it?

QUESTION 2. In so far, what aspect of the world-building catches your interest the most? Why is that so? Also, what theories do you have in regards to differences between places like Persephone and Hestia?

For serious scenes, I think I gotta go with the big swordy magic scene where she saves Jake from being crushed by the statue (http://damsels-dont-wear-glasses.com/?comic_id=202) because the lighting effects are gorgeous and seeing Lave doing big magic stuff with her sword was really really cool. 2) I really liked this page. http://damsels-dont-wear-glasses.com/index.php?comic=20180423 How she just asks a random person on the street for a magic shortcut and gets an answer right away. While it's always been clear that magic is an ordinary thing, this kind of little details really shows exactly how ordinary.

I really like the prologue, particularly the part where they climb the lamppost. There's just so much character into the entire scene, and the exchanges are really cool. It's a very strong beginning for a story too, imo!!

for the worldbuilding, i especially love the variety of creatures/nonhumans we've seen so far, and how well integrated they are with the setting! it's got a classic urban fantasy vibe while also being very fresh and unique

1) i definitely gotta go with the scene where jake is in dream world like place with aishe. I really love how this scene just suddenly adds 1000 layers of mystery. Plus, i really just love the change in color scheme. It really gives it this other worldly feel that gives me goosebumps. Plus, I also just like Aishe's design. 2) I've really been enjoying the differences in magic. Like, for example, how most zombies actually suck cause ya know...theyre dead. I feel this adds such a great twist what we expect, cause every change I feel fits a more logical setup for what the magic does. Again, like how the zombie thing makes 1000% sense cause dead bodies are not the sturdiest. I am curious about why Lave had such a reaction to Hestia magic schools, but I don't have any theories outside of magic must be viewed very differently in places.

3) Kestrel because he's such a precious failure at life. Like...he just cannot catch a break and for some reason that makes him super endearing to me. Plus now hes got the whole aishe connection thing going on so that makes him double interesting. But mostly I want to boop him for all his failures. 4) I would think some of her scares would have to predate her job. Cause she's...she's got a lot of them. And considering she mentioned having been in jail, I'm kind of struck with the idea that maybe she ran with a gang or something. She super gives me the impression of someone who mostly raised herself and didnt have a huge loving family involved in teaching her how to deal with life. I think Jake will be a good influence on her though and teach her to be more careful. Cause she seems very fun loving and reckless, and while that can work when youre solo, its not great when you have other ppl. Like i think the Kestrel thing was a good example cause I felt Lave perhaps was too loose cannon with it, which semi resulted in Kestrel almost kicking the bucket. And Jake is like 1000 times more fragile, and I think it'll force Lave to see that she cant protect anybody if she goes around without a plan.

@Capitania do Azar that scene with Kest and lave interacting around the lamp-post was actually the moment I decided Kest worked well as a main character. He was honestly going to die in the original draft. @keii4ii thanks! I super love just....the mundane feeling of everyday magic. @Delphina Honestly Lave just being a f--k up is probably my fav part of writing her character, especially for comedic effect XD Next to drawing glowy magic scenes of course.(edited)

@RebelVampire Oh wow this is a lot. Thank you! ;-; dammit I really can't respond to these kind of questions cus spoilers. But I'm glad you noticed a lot of my characters having...well a habit of messing up (and Lave did not handle that first chap well cough) XD Also Aishe is my fav character to draw, because Kest is my fav character to draw only its + because glowy effects. I do really like when more real world logic is put in fantasy, like corpses making for bad heavy hitters unless they're in a swarm. So I'm super glad you liked that!

4. If Lave's style has always been what we've seen so far, then all those scars don't surprise me at all! They'd be the natural consequence of past encounters, work related or otherwise. It just kinda feels that everything ends with someone getting punched around her

3. I've really liked pretty much everyone, but I think Lave's my favorite cuz she's sturdy but messy and I feel there's a lot to be learned about her aha

And also she prolly also has a lot to learn

6. Jake feels a lot like is somebody important's family but important could mean a lot of things. And has for his discomfort, I think it mostly stems from not knowing/being used to all this magic, which gives me the idea that some of these cities are less magical than others

5. Not an illustration, but I really love how in the last pages, as the sun rises, the colors become brighter and the sky becomes pink!!

It really helps bringing home the feeling that the night is over and the quietness of early morning, which is kinda fitting since they also stopped fighting

I think I gotta go with Lave as my favorite character too because competent + ridiculous + magical +swordy is my entire jam so she's sorta the best of all worlds. Gena holds a special place in my heart too because she's clearly trying to keep a lot of things together.

Illustration-wise, I love how things like Jake's anxiety (http://damsels-dont-wear-glasses.com/?comic_id=198) or Chirovision (http://damsels-dont-wear-glasses.com/?comic_id=237) or Aisheland (http://damsels-dont-wear-glasses.com/?comic_id=225) traveling through magic spaces (http://damsels-dont-wear-glasses.com/index.php?comic=20170501) make the palette and rendering different depending on the mood. Really good use of a more abstract style to convey tone and worldbuilding.

(Now I want there to be a DDWG theme park where there's weird places like Aisheland)

Lave is my fave!!!! I love her goofy attitude paired with how much butt she kicks when it's necessary. I love seeing people underestimate her and then get surprised, haha.(edited)

8. It really feels like someone's around trying to spread SOME mayhem and if one object was possessed then maybe it's not the only one... could be a tricky situation

5) im kind of cheating by saying i really like the extra page about the leylines http://damsels-dont-wear-glasses.com/index.php?comic=20160620 its really simplistic yet i think the illustrations work super well to help convey all the world-building information. its just a nice combo of huge info drop with some pleasant visual accompaniment 6) I assume Jake is probably an orphan from some important family? Or that Jake's family is super high up in rank somehow and just went "nah man we dont want this kid no more." while i def think some of jake's hate comes from ignorance, i also get the impression that jake had a bad experience with non-humans. something about jake's reactions just really strike me as ptsd. overall yeah, i think jake is gonna have to overcome it. plus, exposure breeds familiarity. its hard to be in the lion's den and continue to hate the lions.

7) jake and basically any non-human. I really just enjoy seeing jake's various reactions of "eww no" and then having to be confronted with the fact that not all non-humans are bad. It just makes me more and more curious about jake's past. plus, all these interactions really serve as a great tracking devices for how jake evolves in opinion. 8) With Kestrel, I kind of think someone is trying to draw Aishe out. I mean Aishe does have pretty neat butterflies and powers, so I can't blame them. Though I assume its a revenge thing cause I get the impression ppl arent all that happy with Aishe. But thus why other illegal items are being involved because you need powerful stuff to get to the powerful people.

6. I think he's come from an entirely different world that doesn't have non humans and magic.

11. The world building and color scheme are definitely strong points. It feels fully fleshed out and magical, but also very grounded like it's this amazing magical place that's also totally normal. Also, the characters. Having a bunch of flawed characters with baggage is always more interesting than having perfect characters with no problems and even the bit characters feel dynamic. Like they have their own story and interests rather than being part of the scenery exsisting only for the MCs to interact with.

9) The thing I appreciate the most details wise is just the physical flaws. Especially Lave's scars. Adding details like that can be really tedious, yet it really helps deliver so much character that I always enjoy when the time is taken to include things like that. 10) I feel like Aishe is probably some necromancer from the past who is trying to rectify a mistake that was made. I think Aishe helped for the reason they said: Jake did a kindness and gotta pay that shit forward. I feel like Lave is 100% not going to trust aishe and basically just encourage everyone to do the same. Maybe suggest Kestral seek professional help. But yeah, I don't see a green butterfly person flying with Lave XD 11) I think this comic's strengths lie in two areas. First, the implementation of magic. There are clear rules, there's enough deviations from the standard to be interesting, and the fact its presented as a normal culture thing is well-integrated. second, the color palettes are really amazing and suit the tone and atmosphere of each scene really well. 12) I feel like Chiro might be a bit special since that one person did wonder what species Chiro was or something like that. And that because of this specialness Chiro was outcasted. Hence why he wound up with Lave cause ya know, outcasts gotta stick together. I think Chiro and Jake will bond for sure down the road. Cause i mean Chiro did just help save Jake's butt, and thats gotta earn him some Jake points right?

13) im looking forward to more aishe doing aishe stuff just cause i dig that aesthetic a whole lot. im also looking forward to learning more about jake so more concrete theories can be made about wtf jake's deal is. and also why nobody else could take jake besides lave cause i mean seriously...theres gotta be more sane choices XD 14) Kest is gonna become a real mage and do magic stuff. also ya know, hide out with lave cause now the ppl he owes money too are probably gonna be out for blood. as for detaching...maybe not so much. i more feel like once Aishe is done with their tasks, their essence will just kind of disappear and merge with kest.

oooh i hadnt seen the trailer but u made me like wanna go look it up and while im still not wild about like the character design the backgrounds and colors are soooooo gorgeous i really feel like the love and care into it im sooo excited you cannot believe also i love that u sent this finally i can return to my roots fruits basket blogging

How I feel about this character

kyo: god its really funny i remember really not liking him as a kid i was just like baby man hating lesbian who had it out for all the like love interests for main girls and somehow even him being a cat could never overcome that ironically even tho like usually all i need to like a character is some kind of connection with cats.. but then i like softened on him a lot i know i have like a little orange cat kyo somewhere that like i know i started to like him a lot more and when i reread it most recently i really really started to love him like his entire arc and how he really begins to open up and find connection and heal from trauma and like genuinely how his and tohrus relationship develops is sooo touching i really really love him hes sooo fun and like he makes you laugh he makes you cry and hes got a lot of really deep set pain and the way he goes about reconciling with yuki and how their conflict is resolved is really ugh poetry and genuinely the like whole themes of like you cant do things alone that you need others and others need you and how you improve each others lives and like idk he really means a lot to me now i love him dearly

yuki: i remember when i was little i was like contrarian and thought tohru and yuki should be together like somewhere halfway through and like i liked him but i also didnt really get him all that much like it didnt make all that much sense to me but like when i revisited fruits basket i realized i really really really love this character and god how the whole love triangle business is resolved and how like close yuki and tohru become and how he heals from his own trauma in his own way and how like kind and giving tohru is with him and the ways they like give each other what they need and like when he gets more social and confident and can goof off with the student council a bit and his friendship with kakeru whos like in many ways like kyo and ayame people who drive yuki kinda crazy and yet he like actually really gets along with him and comes out of his shell and can like be a person away from all the crazy bullshit and just be a normal teen it really hits you ya know god thank u fruits basket for such good characters

All the people I ship romantically with this character

kyo: tohru like god i really think straights should have rights actually tohru and kyo are soooo sweet and like they make each other laugh and they see each other as like idk the actual real kinda messy ugly people they can be and accept that when both of them often arent really seen fully as themselves that its like liberating to be seen as someone who hurts and to like let that out to each other and i really like cry when i read that final bit that they never stopped holding hands and its like them as old people with their grandkids visiting THEY ARE SOOO IN LOVE ;W; and they make each other sooo happy and bring out the best in each other this is how you write romance god

yuki: ok well i actually do really like how machi and yukis story is written that like he finally meets someone who doesnt idolize him and they really like understand each others pain and trauma in a way they dont even like need to talk about and like ok you know what they can be valid hets but like i need to take a moment for gay yuki theory here like genuinely that yuki realizes he was never attracted to tohru he just thought he had to be to like fill the role he saw that boys and girls that close should like hello hes not attracted to women hes literally a gay man thats like hes gay and the way he and kakeru like bond and open up in like such a fun way i think its very different from him and machi but its like really good that like he kinda drives him nuts but they have so much fun and he really brings out the fun sides of yuki and like THEYRE GOING TO COLLEGE TOGETHER like if miss takaya had brains they would date for a while in college and like very amicably break up and like always stay close like she really wrote half a coming out story there and like i KNOW theres some fucking line about him feeling comfortable or something really like the subtext is there i cant remember all the moments but yukis literally gay and like i think we gotta see that

My non-romantic OTP for this character

kyo: god arisa and kyo as friends is sooo fucking funny but like they arent close enough for that she just bullies him because she thinks hes not good enough for tohru like i like that yuki and kyo become friends but idk hes always gonna have a bit of a barrier between him and the rest of the zodiac i hate that this question is phrased otp cuz like the closest person in his life besides tohrus like his master and i dont wanna make it weird

yuki: tohru!!!! they matter so much to each other they really do love each other so much their friendship makes me wanna cry and then like also i guess machi here cuz i love their whole thing but like yukis gay so

My unpopular opinion about this character

kyo: when i was little i didnt like him so that was probably unpopular hm idk like what anybody says about him i just live in my own bubble where i am the only person to ever have a fruits basket opinion in the past 6 years

yuki: hes gay i just feel like straight girls arent big brained enough to pick up on this

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

kyo: god i wanna see arisa and saki say theyre his mother in laws now that they are tohrus moms and hes gotta impress them because thats extremely funny to me

yuki: hm i cant think of anything i just love his whole arc ;w;
