Being stranded on 'Poguelandia' made you realize how you took many things for granted — especially your morning croissant and coffee — and the privilege of a hot shower and a soft pillow.
When you’ve lived your whole life in comfort, it’s hard to suddenly have nothing. When you escaped the boat with the rest of the pogues, you didn’t think you would come across an inhabited island and have to stay there for a while. It’s only been five days and you were starting to feel like the two kids in The Blue lagoon.
Everyone was in survival mode and helping in any way they could. You and Kiara had built a shelter for the night, Sarah and Cleo had gathered wood and some small fruits while the boys made good use of their fishing skills…and a makeshift spear.
It also made you reevaluate things. Like your relationship with JJ.
You had broken up shortly after Sarah and John B. were declared dead, both too emotional and heartbroken to be in a relationship. The ‘death’ of your friends had caused a massive crack in the group. Even the relationship between Kie and Pope had its hard moments, but unlike you and JJ, they were still together.
‘’I still love him. I never stopped,’’ you confessed to Kiara one late night on the beach while everyone was asleep.
Your eyes were on JJ, watching him sleeping soundly after sending your heart into panic earlier that day. Doing stupid shit was typical of JJ, but when he jumped from that cliff and he didn’t come up to the surface immediately, you got really scared. After almost drowning and definitely having a minor undiagnosed concussion, you could barely stand not having your eyes on him.
Kiara laid her head on your shoulder. ‘’I know.’’
Everybody knows.
If JJ had not been there, surviving on the island would’ve been harder. He was the sunshine in your life, always there to turn your grumpy frown into a smile after you had the worst sleep of your life and sand in places where sand should not be.
You’ve spent a lot of time together on Poguelandia, looking for coconuts and cracking them, teaching you how to catch a fish or watching the stars on nights neither of you could find sleep. It was nice to be close to him again.
But it wasn’t close enough.
‘’Can I eat that?’’ you asked, standing by a small bush of wild berries.
‘’If the berries are white, yellow, and green, don’t eat them,’’ JJ said, not even looking at the berries you were talking about. ‘’Some red berries are poisonous too, so be careful. If you eat a harmful berry, there could be great consequences. Red berries are roughly 50% safe to eat. And, if they are in clusters, they’re usually bad.’’
You nodded. Noted. ‘’Can I eat this one?’’
Growing up on the wealthier side of the island, you didn't know a lot of surviving tips. You didn’t even know how to pierce a coconut. Fortunately for you, JJ was there to help you out.
A small chuckle left JJ’s lips and he came over to you, checking the berries and plucking one from the branch. ‘’Open up, milady.’’ He held the small fruit before your mouth and you allowed him to feed it to you. ‘’If it taste weird, spit it out.’’
He was kidding. JJ would never let you eat a poisonous berry. He only said that to mess with you.
A call of your and JJ’s name made you whip your heads around to hear Pope saying the girls were swimming by the rocks and he and John B. were going to fetch more wood to make a fire tonight. You gave him a thumbs up and they left through the tall trees.
You plucked more berries from the branches, trying to calm your screaming stomach. Your body was not used to the small portion of food a deserted island had to offer.
While you were eating, JJ was trying to gather his words together. You hadn’t talked about what happened on the boat when he got knocked over, about when you saved his life. It was a difficult thing to think about and everyone respected your silence, but JJ wanted to thank you. If you had not jumped overboard and kept his head above water, he probably would have drowned.
‘’I…I didn't tell you, but what you did on the boat was brave as fuck,’’ he started, shifting his feet in the sand nervously. ‘’Jumping overboard like that? I wish I could've seen that.’’ A smile curled on his lips, imagining for a moment. ‘’Thanks for saving me.’’
When you saw him in the water, face down and not moving, you didn't hesitate and leaped. You would do again if you had to.
‘’Next time someone swings at you with a machete, you duck. I don’t want to play superhero again.’’ Your eyes welled up with tears and JJ pulled you against him. He didn't smell like weed and teen-boy deodorant anymore, just salt water and sweat, but he embrace still felt like JJ.
‘’I’ll try to remember.’’
‘’I almost gave up,’’ you confessed against his shoulder, ‘’but I wasn't going to abandon you. If you go down, I go down too.’’
JJ tightened his hold around you. He felt so lucky to have you in his shitty life.
You slipped your hands through the haphazardly cut holes of his shirt and spreading your fingers on his back. JJ went soft under your touch, his head falling into the space between his shoulder and neck.
‘’I don’t care we broke up, I still love you. I always will.’’

Since insomnia is kicking my arse of late, I naturally tilted into the thoughts about the nature of the 3-act structure and why S2 of OFMD may have felt off and incomplete to a lot of people.
I am fully in agreement that we lost a lot of valuable time with only 8 episodes and a lot of it did feel rushed, but for the amount of story and set-up and growth and development they needed to fit into 4 hours of television, they did astonishing things.
DJenks has said from the very start that this is a story that has been planned out to take 3 seasons. It's literally a 3-act play and we are currently right in the middle of the worst part of that timeline according to every traditional 3-act structure.
Tumblr media
Act one/season one is self-explanatory. Like New Hope in the Star Wars Trilogy or Fellowship of the Ring, this is the set-up. We're introduced to our protagonists and antagonists, the relationships are given a foundation.
The beginning is Stede's journey to becoming a real boy. The inciting incident, the one that actually pushes his change beyond "playing pirates" is meeting Ed. The second thoughts come together in episode 8/9 after his confrontations with Jack and Chauncey and episode 10 is the climax.
Act 2/season 2 is never going to be as smooth and simple as act 1/s1. A big part of the A2/S2 job is set up for A3/S3 and this is what we're seeing and why a lot of story threads seem to have been left dangling.
Again, to call back to Empire Strikes Back and The Two Towers, the structure is much the same: the original batch of people are divided and scattered, the big enemy from A1/S1 is looming, new allies make themselves known. In SW, this meant the introduction of Lando and Yoda as allies plus the hint of the Emperor lurking in the background. In LotR, we have the Rohirrim, Gondor and the Ents as allies and the expansion of Sauron's forces in Helm's Deep, Osgiliath and the winged wraiths.
There's a clear trajectory following the A2/S2 structure:
obstacle 1 - the crews separated and struggling
obstacle 2 - the end of episode 2 and the repercussions of his actions
twist - just when things start to settle, the Ned Low situation happen and Stede kills for the first time
obstacle 3 - Ed's struggle with his identity leading to him leaving
disaster - Ricky's assault on the Republic
crisis - do-or-die battle because they have no other choice
climax - the last 15 minutes of ep. 8 live here.
As with SW and LotR, there's an ending, but weighted with the knowledge of a story that is meant to continue. Each of those act 2 films end with the heroes still aware of the looming threat, some of them heading out on new missions, and some of them resting and healing. There's brief pause, brief respite, a moment to take a breath.
We have all the characters in place now and the battle-lines have been drawn. Luke still needs to confront Vader (I see you, impending Ed and Hornigold confrontation), Frodo still needs to destroy the ring, Aragorn still needs to lead the army against the Black Gate, the second Death Star is still hanging in the sky.
I'm so excited to see what S3 brings because we have so many arcs ready to go: Zheng's vengeance trip, the inevitable enforced out-of-retirement arc for Ed and Stede, Hornigold, Ricky trying to maintain his tenuous control of the republic given how many of his people were killed when the crew escaped, the pirate rebellion gathering forces.
Also how often do we get shows/films where the supporting cast are given this much storyline? We have a named/speaking-role cast of upwards of 15 central characters. That is a staggering amount of people to work with, when most shows would only focus on the leads and a couple of their friends. Six is the average for most TV shows, while comedies can inch higher because ensembles, but most ensembles don't get as much as our crew did.
I know a lot of people aren't happy about Izzy's death. I know I would have liked to see him a lot more, because he's such a grumpy old bitch and I love him and him affectionately roasting Ed and Stede would have made my entire month. But I'm also aware that narratively, as a figurehead of the old ways of piracy and "we were Blackbeard", it was a symbolic death as well - a sign of the death of the old ways of piracy and of Blackbeard as was.
(Also, they Obi-Wanned him. I'm not over that. Gave him the "if you strike me down I will become more powerful" speech. I'm just... guys, your star wars nerdery is showing XD)
So while it was flawed in places and pacing, given the scale of the story they're telling, the number of pieces and characters they had in play, and the arcs they have been setting up while also still keeping the humour, I am giving a standing ovation for a remarkable piece of work.

Drunk Dancin
Elliott (Sdv) X reader
Tumblr media
(art from Pinterest)
This was so fun to write I hope you all enjoy! I got kinda lazy towards the end Sorry it's been awhile sense I've had inspo so this might be bad. Also I didn't proof read this shit🤣🖤
It had been a rough day on the farm, the crops were dying due to the change in season, the animals were grumpy even though they had plenty to eat and space to wander, And then to top it off the mines nearly killed me, and now I grumpily stumble to the stardrop saloon.
It's a busy night for the tiny bar. Friday nights are always like that, groups and sad lonely souls gather there to drink, sing, and stumble out sometime past midnight every Friday without fail.
As I make my way inside I see it's still relatively quiet. I walk up to the bar nodding my head to Pam who sits at her usual corner.
“Hey kid you're looking rough, what happened this time?” she asks, turning her head to me with a slight chuckle as she takes a sip of her beer. I look at her with a sigh as I slump over the bar lazily grabbing my drink and sliding it closer to me. “Oh, you know the same old shit. Crops are assholes, and my animals and the creatures in the mines want me dead.” I say lifting my cup to my lips and downing half of my drink before lowering my glass. “It’s been fun,” I say giving her a sarcastic smile.
“Jesus kid you outta slow down there wont be any good tomorrow if you're sloshed,” she says with a grin. I look at her with a raised eyebrow before I can respond. She laughs. “I’m just kidding, the best cure for a shitty day is a drink. If I had any extra cash I would buy you one outta pity but well I'm kinda runnin’ a little short for my tab as is so.. Don’t tell Gus,” she tells me with a wink, I let out a little chuckle. “ Your secrets are safe with me,” I tell her before downing the rest of my drink and calling Gus over for another, which he gladly sells me before I get up from the bar and wander to a table neatly nested in the corner. I sit down and after a few minutes, I see my good friend Leah wander into the saloon collecting her drink from the bar. She wandered to the table next to me. “ well hey their Y/n what are you up to tonight.”She asks as she pulls out her seat to sit down.
I look up at her with a grin holding up my drink. “Girl I’m drinking in hopes I don't wake up tomorrow sober!” I tell her as we both laugh. “ Jeez Y/n what the hell did you do now, don't you tell me you passed out in those mines again!” she jokes with a grin on her face as she takes a sip of her beer.
“Hey now I didn't pass out, but I got too damn close to those rock crabs are the devil.'' I shake my head as I chuckle. “ They keep sneaking up on me and by the time I see one of those things there are 3 more behind me.” I say Leah just laughs “Sounds like you need to buy some armor or something if you gonna keep going down there-” she starts to say before a new voice unintentionally cuts her off.
“Good evening Leah,y/n how are you both tonight?” the person says, looking towards the voice we see Elliott. I was starting to wonder where he was normally earlier. “ hey El where were you? You're a bit later than usual.” I ask the redhead. He just chuckles and takes a seat in between the two tables. “Well, you know how I was having a dry spell of inspiration? Well, I don't know What hit me but today I was able to get 3 chapters done in my novel! I was so caught up in it that I didn't even realize the whole day had run away from me. I feel so alive at the moment!” he tells us excitedly. For the past week, Elliott has been talking about how he had no clue what to write in this book of his, it was kind of sad to see him so upset, but now he's happy and inspired again! Don't get me wrong is amazing, I'm happy for him and even happier that he's so much more enthusiastic and optimistic now, but I just wish he was like this 3 days ago. Because now his joy is feeling a bit suffocating. Or maybe that's just because of my shitty day.
Even so, I sit there and listen to him excitedly explaining some plot twist he wanted to add to a future chapter.
As he speaks I can't help but tune into the music playing from the jukebox. It's decently loud but not enough to give you a headache and the songs playing are mostly from the 70’s and 80's. I guess Gus has decent musical taste! Who knew?
About an hour has passed and our little trio has had our fair share of drinks. We sit there joking around for a little longer before Leah thinks it might be a good idea to pull Elliott and me up to dance. “Leah I don’t know how fuckin to dance??” I slur as she pulls me up. She groans “Come on don't be lame let all just dance! I bet you can do it! Elliott, don't you think they can do it too??” she asks him. Elliott being a little less than drunk more on the tipsy side just laughs.
“ You know I think they can! Go on, go dance, you can do it,” he says, giving me a slight push. Without thinking I grab onto his hand and spin around to face him. “You know what! I’ll go if you come with us.”
Telling him to come with us was the worst thing to say ever.
Cause he was an amazing dancer with a couple of drinks under his belt. And he looked divine doing it. His red suit jacket had been long forgotten on the back of his chair, his long red hair was put up messily in a bun and he was dancing like he should have been on a stage.
He swayed and spun, stumbled once or twice, and laughed with us when we pointed it out to him. It was a beautiful thing to witness, but he didn't take my focus away completely, as Leah and I had been spinning around together, jumping up and down bobbing our heads to the beat as we stumbled and laughed.
As we dance my head starts to spin, dizziness overcoming every aspect of my mind and vision almost knocking me down. But as I stumble, a hand grabs my wrist from behind and spins me around full circle. As I nearly fall forward the person's other hand finds its way to my waist pulling me towards them, my back hits their chest and I hear a laugh. “I can see you've been having fun, you should be more careful, you just never know who you'll stumble into.”
Recognizing the voice, a dopey grin creeps onto my face as I turn my head to look at the culprit.
And just as I guessed it was Elliott standing behind me with an oddly placed smirk on his face. Seeing him sobers me up a little bit in the best way possible.
“ Well now you're the one who grabbed me, I could have stumbled my way into anyone I like. you just happened to be quick about it.” I said with a giggle as I spun around one more to the beat of the song playing. Now facing him as we move around the dancefloor.
“Yes, well. Ah, what can I say i can't think of a good excuse at the moment. I’ve wanted to dance with you for quite some time, And when I saw you had wandered out of Leah's grasp well. I suppose you can call me somewhat of an opportunist.” he says as we both let out a laugh
“ Well, I can’t say I'm complaining that you took that opportunity.” I wink “Nothing against Leah she's quite a good dancer.”
“Better than me?” Elliott says with a joking tone. “Definitely,” I responded with a grin. He places a dramatic hand on his chest as he tries to flip his hair forgetting it's put up at the moment “I’m hurt, I thought I was better than that.” he jokes. A small chuckle escapes me at the gesture before the night goes on and blurs together, not in the sense that I don't remember more like that of a watercolor painting when the colors bleed into one another as we had dancing in a wave of color that turns into something else entirely.
The door of the saloon swung open as we exited, we were one of the last few folks leaving. Leah had left about an hour prior leaving us to our fun, not without saying goodbye first. Waving goodnight to Gus, me and Elliott make our way to the town square. Stopping I turn to him with a tired look “Are you sure you wanna walk me home? It's getting pretty late.'' I asked him. It's not like the walk to the farm is long but for him to walk all the way there and then to the beach is quite the trek even with shortcuts it can take quite a while. “Of course. I'm not gonna let you walk home alone at this hour. It wouldn't be right, especially after the drinks you had earlier.” he tells me with a grin i gaze at him skeptically. Looking him up and down.
Even after the long night he looks surprisingly put together in a semi-messy way, his hair is still put up in that messy bun from earlier but now some more strands are pulled out some of them sticking to his face after the night of dancing, his white dress shirt was wrinkled now and his red coat was lazily thrown over his shoulder. Even so, his posture was still surprisingly straight though he was very slightly hunched over but it was kinda hard to notice. After a few moments, I shrugged my shoulders “Well if you insist.”I told him.
“Oh, I insist” he smiles, turning to the side he offers me his arm. I laugh a bit and take it “Trying to pull the gentlemen card tonight Elliott?” I joke as we make our way past the little garden turning the corner to make our descent down the pathway that leads to my farm. “ I don't need to pull a card. It's just who I am,” he says, his voice a bit smoother than before. Making a little heat rise to my face. I thank the dark shadows of the night for shielding the small details from his view. Damn, that silver tongue of his. I think to myself before I remember to respond “Whatever you say El.” I chuckle looking straight ahead of us. The air is cool as we walk but not uncomfortable in the slightest. It is more of a calming breeze that floats past us picking up the smell of some of the freshly bloomed spring flowers with a slight smell of rain from the previous day. I feel as though I could never tire of the night air, And to admit walking with the man that's haunted my dreams each night just adds that little bit more to it that makes it hard for me to remember that it's real.
“Well, here we are.” I hear Elliott mumble pulling me out of my thoughts. I didn’t even realize we had walked up the steps to my front porch. “ thank you so much, Elliott.'' I smile warmly at him as I release his arm from my hold. “ It was really sweet of you to walk me home tonight. And also thank you for the fun night you and Leah provided me with.” I told him.
“It's always a pleasure, and I would do it again any time any place,” he responds with a nod. a small grin gracing his features. A few moments pass before he decides to speak once more
“ Well I suppose it's getting quite late and I wouldn't want to keep you up too late so I guess I'll be going now,” he says hesitantly. I bow my head with a smile before opening my door a small bit of confidence overcoming me as I get i silly idea
“ Well, it's not that late, how about you come inside for a moment and grab some tea before you go?”
“ that. Would be lovely. As long as you don't mind.” he says taking a step inside my home.
“ I don't mind, I offered,” I responded with a laugh closing the door behind us as I went to heat the kettle. It was a small offer but it was a night neither of us would forget for a long time.

It’s That Rare Type Of Love
Nanami Kento x Reader
(Song Inspiration: P.S. I LOVE YOU by Paul Partohap)
Nanami Kento. A man that no one really knows about. One that is mysterious because they only know him as the CEO.
“He’s probably single,” Gojo said while typing up his report.
“Oooh, and pours himself a glass of whiskey after a long day of work. He seems like the whiskey type,” Geto added.
“That actually sounds really nice to have,” Gojo added. Geto nodded. “Let’s go out for a drink tonight.”
“Okay, that sounds like a plan.” Arms were wrapped around their shoulders. They looked up to see Shoko behind them and Haibara behind her. “Yo! Bar tonight?”
“Sure,” Shoko replied, always down to whatever plan they have. She turned to Haibara. “Honey?”
“Yeah, we can go out,” he said with a bright smile. “Should we invite Nanami-san?”
“Nah,” Gojo and Geto said.
“That’s our boss,” Gojo said. “Who hangs out with the boss?” The three of them shrugged.
Haibara looked at the closed door, where Nanami remains engrossed with his work.
“It be a nice gesture,” Haibara said.
“I’m going outside to smoke. Wanna come guys?” The three of nodded and stood up to walk out the building.
It was a beautiful, fall day. It wasn’t too cold nor too hot. The breeze felt nice from the warmth of the sun. Leaves around them were changing colors. It was beautiful outside.
“I need to find a girl,” Gojo said as he saw couples walk past them. A particular woman caught his eye. “Like her!” You wore a rusty, orange dress with brown heels. You held a lunchbox and looked around.
“Invite her out tonight,” Geto said. They watched you pull your phone out. “After her phone call.” Gojo nodded.
“Maybe she has a friend,” Gojo added. Geto nodded.
“We’ll be ready for cuff season,” Geto said. “Maybe we can bring boss man with us. We can find a woman for him.”
They all nodded, agreeing to finally invite Nanami and planning to ask him out once they return back inside.
“Kento-kun!” The four of them turned around. Their eyes widened to see Nanami walk outside with a bright smile on his face. They watched you skip to him and the two of you hugged.
“Well, Boss man has you beat,” Geto said.
“You think she has friends?” Gojo asked.
“That’s sweet, she brought him lunch,” Shoko said.
They slightly jumped back when they saw Nanami look at them. Nanami whispered in your ear and you nodded. He held your hand and lead you to them.
“Smoke break?” Nanami asked curiously. Shoko nodded, finishing her cigarette. She looked at you and waved.
“Girlfriend?” Nanami shook his head and held your hand up, revealing the large engagement ring and matching wedding band.
“Married?!” the boys exclaimed. You giggled. Nanami nodded and introduced them to you.
“How come we never noticed?!” Gojo exclaimed, slightly sad that he knows that he’ll never have a chance with you.
“I don’t talk about my personal life,” Nanami said then looked at Gojo and Geto. “I may not arrive home alone since I’m not single but my wife and I like to drink some sort of alcohol beverage together.”
“Oh, you heard us.” Nanami nodded.
“If the stand still offers, I would like to join you guys tonight,” he said. “May my wife come?”
“I-I don’t want to intrude,” you said. Shoko smiled and held your hand.
“Please come!” she pleaded excitedly. You smiled.
“Okay! Kento-kun, should I meet you guys?”
“I’ll pick you up, sweetheart.” Seeing Nanami smile warmly at you was such a sight for them.
“Great! Nanami-san! You should spend more time with us! Better yet, I’ll make sure to invite you and your wife,” Haibara said. Nanami blush, another surprising action for the guys to see.
“Kento-kun would love that!” you said excitedly. “I’ve been bugging this grumpy butt to make friends, but I can understand why it would be difficult. Well I shouldn’t hold you all up. It was nice meeting you guys.”
“Likewise!” said the boys. You hugged Shoko and then turned to Nanami.
“Have a good rest of the day,” you said happily. Nanami smiled and leaned down to kiss your lips softly.
“Thank you for bringing my lunch,” he said softly. “You’re going to go shopping?”
“I might as well,” you said. “Utahime’s wedding is coming up.” Nanami pulled his wallet out and gave you his card. You blushed and shyly thanked him. You still prefer him to not do that, but you knew he would make sure you had his card on you at all times if you wanted to shop.
“Get anything you want, sweetheart,” he said and kissed you again. With one last kiss, you waved at the group as you left. Once you were out of sight, Gojo looked at their CEO.
“How’d you win her over?” he asked, curious as ever. Someone so bubbly with someone they find to be too serious.
“High school sweetheart,” Nanami answered proudly.

Crowley Name Usage or Lack Thereof in Season 2
I've noticed some oddities about how the characters in Good Omens 2 both use and do not use Crowley's name and one part, in particular, where the issue is not just where his name is not used; he seems to be significantly ignored.
It's possible I missed some instances of his name usage, but I think after the number of times I've listened to the season, most of this is correct.
Addressed and Referenced by Name
For the scenes in the present day, there are only two characters who both address and refer to Crowley by name: Aziraphale and Shax.
In the 1941 minisode, Furfur does actually both address and refer to Crowley by name. In the present, there is zero acknowledgment between Crowley, Furfur, and Aziraphale of their encounter from 1941, in episode 6.
In 1941, the Nazis in Hell refer to Crowley by name and two of them had addressed Crowley by name in the season 1 flashback.
Addressed by Name but Not Referenced by Name
Beelzebub addresses Crowley by name, twice, in season 2, episode 1 (The Arrival). After that, they never address or refer to him by name for the rest of the season. They ask about info on Gabriel from one of the other demons in Hell and they talk with Shax, but there is no visible effort to directly contact Crowley again. He isn't even "the traitor" anymore.
Saraqel addresses Crowley by name in episode 6 while also saying they knew Crowley when he was an angel (in other words, before he chose that name for himself). They do not reference him by name at any point and only as "the enemy" when talking to Muriel, yet still allowing him to see Gabriel's trial. No reason is known for why they would allow it.
Referenced by Name but Not Addressed by Name
Muriel references Crowley by name when reporting to Michael and Uriel though how they got his name is never explained or shown. They also call him grumpy though he was not actually grumpy for most of what we see of their interaction. He just sounded grumpy when he first walked into the shop without knowing they were there. Muriel also did not know Crowley was a demon until being informed by Uriel. In the entire time that Muriel is with Crowley, notably taking him up to Heaven and generally being there with him, they do not ever address him by name.
The Metatron addresses Crowley as "Demon", not by name. When he is shown to be referring to Crowley by name, it is through a narrated flashback by Aziraphale that strongly suggests what Aziraphale is saying is a lie. The only other reference, besides "he" pronouns, that we have to go by is the Metatron calling Crowley "your friend" to Aziraphale.
Never Addressed or Referenced by Name
Nina - The season establishes early that Nina recognizes the regulars of her coffee shop based on what they order and that she thinks of Maggie as "skinny latte" so when Nina refers to Crowley by his "six espressos" coffee order three different times (see the 666 there?), it's not as startling or unsettling that she never calls him by his name. However, 1) he is not a regular, and 2), she is the only character we see being introduced to him by name from Aziraphale. Another note is that she refers to him as the one who was struck by lightning the night it seemed to happen and then even addresses him as the one who was struck by lightning the next day. By the time episode 5 rolls around, he does not seem to be either of these things to her anymore. She does not address or refer to him in these ways. When talking to Maggie at the ball, it sounds like she thinks of Crowley as one of "them/they" with Aziraphale. When talking to Crowley directly, he is only "you".
Maggie - There is extremely little interaction between Maggie and Crowley in all of season 2 so it's again, not that startling or unsettling that she never addresses him by name and doesn't have much opportunity to refer to him by name either. She might not even know his name until episode 5 when the bookshop is attacked and can hear Aziraphale refer to Crowley by name then. Nonetheless, it's true and mostly noticeable that she and Nina are taking all this extra care to speak to Crowley at a very specific time about interfering with their lives, then interfering in his life by giving him bad relationship advice, and still do not use his name. Like Nina, to Maggie, Crowley is only "you".
Jim/Gabriel - This is where the lacking usage of a name sticks out the most and goes beyond just the name. Jim never addresses Crowley by name. They do have substantial interactions, as opposed to Crowley and Maggie. Crowley is the one who triggers an extra voice and purple eyes out of Jim/Gabriel twice. He's the one who can prod far enough to learn that Gabriel put his memory in a matchbox, then took it out. Between all of that, they talk about gravity, the vavoom matchmaking, Crowley's own concerns and anger at Gabriel for Aziraphale, telling Jim to jump out a window, stopping him, offering and making him chocolate, and not once, in all that time, does Jim address Crowley by name. He knows Crowley's name because when Aziraphale says it during episode 2, Jim (actually referred to as Gabriel in the subtitles by the way) explains, "He went away, while you were thinking."
When Gabriel recovers his memories, the first person he recognizes and names is Aziraphale. To Aziraphale's right, Crowley is (presumably still there) standing. Aziraphale hesitantly smiles, turns his head to his right, which suggests he is possibly looking towards Crowley, and Aziraphale doesn't say anything. Very, very briefly, Gabriel seems to follow this gaze. As in, he follows Aziraphale's eyes where one might find Crowley. If you are searching frame by frame, it's actually still easy to miss that this part happened. I only picked up on it after repeated views without going frame by frame while drafting this post. Gabriel does not acknowledge Crowley at all. In fact, we, the audience, don't see Crowley either during this part. There is no hesitation, no pause, no recognition, nothing. It's as if Gabriel briefly glimpsed an empty space. His head turns towards Aziraphale's direction again for a moment, then turns left, this time blinking and passing over where Crowley should be completely, and he addresses the angels (Michael, Uriel, Saraqel). Again, we, the audience, like Gabriel, did not see Crowley. Next, Gabriel acknowledges the demons with a simple, "Oh eesh. You guys," then hones in on Beelzebub.
When Gabriel is looking at Beelzebub, we can finally see that Crowley is standing next to Aziraphale, so one assumes he didn't go anywhere and was simply ignored. After all, none of the other characters react as if he briefly disappeared.
Gabriel doesn't realize Nina and Maggie are there either. They are further away and even behind him when he is talking to the other angels. Point being, he doesn't miss their presence in the same way he seems to have missed Crowley's.
Crowley eventually leaves to escort Maggie and Nina out, then returns.
When Crowley suggests Alpha Centauri as a place to go, it's just generally assumed Gabriel and Beelzebub took his suggestion, but if you look closely, you'll see they don't actually acknowledge him. They do not look at him. They do not thank him. They do not say yes or no to that specific place and just react in a more general term of the idea of leaving and never coming back. As already said, it's just generally assumed that's what they do when they disappear. The main reason this sticks out is because of how Gabriel passed over Crowley earlier. Gabriel still does not look at Crowley or address Crowley in any way, and neither does Beelzebub by this point.
Michael and Uriel have small enough roles that I don't think it matters as much, but they do not address or refer to Crowley by name either. Uriel goes so far as to refer to him as "the demon" when Muriel is giving a report.
Other Notes
In Before the Beginning, the angel who eventually becomes Crowley very obviously does not give his name. It looks like he could be snubbing Aziraphale, or if this is an altered or inaccurate memory, the name itself has been edited out or forgotten.
When the angels arrive at the bookshop in episode 2, they never bring up Crowley at all. When the powers of Heaven and Hell meet at the bookshop in episode 6, no one addresses or refers to Crowley by name though they are clearly aware of his presence as they do still actually react and listen to him. These two things are understandable in the context they happen but figured since I'm looking at where characters are lacking in using his name, I should at least note it.
Uncertain
Without the Jim/Gabriel parts, this could just be how things played out and how the characters feel the need to talk to or about him. Not everyone needs to address or refer to Crowley by name all the time. But the Jim/Gabriel part does stick out. Plus, if you compare to how Aziraphale is addressed or referred to throughout the season, you can find the difference being even more stark (Nina, Maggie and Jim/Gabriel all use his "Mr. Fell" name at at least once compared to the zero times for Crowley).
I don't know why it happens, but I feel like the fact that it does has some meaning.
Video
Here is a slowed down version of the point I'm talking about with how Gabriel seems to miss Crowley's presence. There are two places where you would think he might see Crowley. Immediately after Aziraphale, that's where Gabriel should see Crowley. He glances towards Aziraphale again, then when he's turning his head and blinking, that's the second instance where you would think he would see Crowley. He has no reaction to Crowley's presence either time.

i’m not sure if you have anything that plays with the grumpy x sunshine fort f thing but all i can picture is jamie not even being against his sister and mact (because i can’t picture jamie with a bad bone in his body) but rather he’s just worried about how different they are?
like mact is just this confident, kinda stoic man, and his sister is like sunshine (sometimes feisty sunshine) embodied and he’s just concerned
and then he sees them together and he’s like “oooh. maybe this will work.”
-🎪
jamie drysdale has had to see mason mctavish a lot that summer.
don’t get him wrong, mason was a friend. a teammate. he had a lot of respect for the guy and would never utter a bad word about him, but he often wondered why he had to choose his sister.
they wouldn’t tell him when they got together, but he knew it happened some point during the season because by the time they returned to canada for the summer, the two were inseparable. mason had pretty much taken up permanent residence at his parents house (seriously, the guy got mail there the other day) and now had his own mug in the cupboard. jamie wanted to ask if his own mother missed him, but he refrained.
he just doesn’t understand why-
he hears the heavy sound of the wooden gate slamming shut and he watches as- oh? he watches as a smile tugs at the corner of mason’s lips as his younger sister makes his way up the stairs. mason pushes his chair away from the table, eyes twinkling in the fairy lights as she enthusiastically waves her hands, “sorry i’m late. we got slammed right before i was supposed to leave, so i had to take an extra table.”
“not like we were waiting for the birthday girl to be here to blow out the candles on her cake or anything,” carly teases the girl who not-so-subtly flips up her middle finger at her blonde best friend.
she wraps her arms around mason, pushing herself up on her converse clad feet to press a quick kiss to his lips before tucking herself into his chest, “what did i miss?”
“nothing much. like carly said, couldn’t really start without you,” he teases gently. he presses a quick kiss to her temple when she turns to thank someone for coming, still wrapped tightly around his body, “have you eaten?”
“i had lunch and ray made me some cheese fries before i left,” she hums. ray, a cook at her summer waitressing job who was old enough to be her father, always made sure everyone ate no matter what. mason hadn’t been thrilled at the idea of her picking a shift on her birthday, but she insisted on how good her tips would be as she clipped the birthday girl ribbon to the tank top with the restaurant's logo plastered on the front. that tank top was hidden now, covered along with the bike shorts by a too big team canada hoodie that (based on the number on the arm) could only belong to one guy. she pokes at his chest, “plus, i was promised by both my brother and my boyfriend that i would have the cook out of my dreams.”
“food’s in the kitchen, princess gets first dibs,” jamie raises his drink to the girl, “happy birthday.”
“thank you, jay. seriously, but i want to sit down for like five minutes first. everyone else can go ahead, but you better save me a hamburger!” she calls as their friends trample in through the open patio door. she allows herself to be pulled down on mason’s lap with a sigh, “i lied, i don’t know if i can get up now. you’re comfy.”
“guess i’ll just have to carry you around for the rest of the night, hm?” mason’s tone is teasing as his fingers drum at her thigh.
“i definitely wouldn’t object to that.”
and that’s when it clicks for jamie, when it’s just the three of them out there and he’s a silent witness to their conversation. while she loved people and enjoyed being a light, mason just tolerated everyone except for her and it was obvious in his actions. how attentive he was, how he looked for her in every room, how he was always attached to her like a magnet.
they may be opposites, but they were made for each other.

A/N: Okay, I went back and read your request after I wrote this and was like…  TBH, I read this a little different than you wrote. Mostly just the publicness of it. But I think it’s sweet and fluffy and hits the notes you were going for. Thank you for the request!
Word Count: 1.1k
Warnings: smut if you squint LOL. I actually think I wrote something without swearing. WHERE IS MY GOLD STAR!?
It’s late when you return to Newark from your Devils girl’s trip out to the West Coast. You were supposed to be back, in Nico’s arms, hours ago. You can’t help but feel grumpy about that while saying goodbye to the pack of WAGs. Everyone is splitting off in different directions whether catching a ride from their significant others, heading to the bathroom, or grabbing a cab together to the same neighborhood. Nico is waiting for you. He already texted you that he was by the Dunkin’ just outside of baggage claim.
When you come down the escalator, you grin at him slumped forward on a bench, arms resting on his large thighs, hat hanging low. The airport is pretty much closed for the night so he stands out. Honestly, he’s so gorgeous he would even if it was bustling. His AirPods are in and you can see his mouth moving. A quick check of your Apple Watch makes you gather he’s likely talking to his parents. No one else is awake right now if they don’t have to be.
“Ich muss gehen. Dich lieben.” He says, standing as you approach. His lips pull into an excited grin. “Baby!” He greets, leaning down to press a long, welcoming kiss against your mouth. His hands wind around your waist, lifting you off your feet and into his chest. “Mmm, I missed you.”
“Hi Neeks.” You muse, placing loving kisses on his lips, soaking up his warmth. His brown eyes glitter, only caring to focus on your face.
“You look good. Relaxed.” He notes, setting you back down.
“I feel relaxed.. minus all the travel trouble.” It all seems like minor inconveniences now that you can feel Nico’s hand slipping into yours. He takes the handle on your rolling suitcase so your only job is to walk next to him to the car.
“Yeah that sucked. I was getting frustrated for you.” He shakes his head. “I mean six extra hours at the airport? Woof.”
“Yeah I had a nice buzz going by the time we got on the plane. I even slept for a couple hours.”
“Wow! Practicing for Switzerland this off season, yeah?” You laugh, nodding. You are so looking forward to that with him.
Nico places your suitcase in his car and soon you are on your way back to your apartment. Nico’s fingers slide into yours, bringing your hand to his mouth.
“I missed you so much, babe.” He whispers against your skin.
“Missed you too.” You murmur back to him, turning to watch him while he drives. His face has a bit of stubble and his hair is hidden by a black baseball cap. He chews on his bottom lip, watching the traffic in front of you. He sneaks a few peeks of you every so often, grinning each time your eyes meet.
“Tell me everything. What is the hot goss? Is there pipping hot tea?” You know he is making fun of you. But you missed him so much, you’ll let it slide.
The rest of the ride home is spent chatting about the trip and the various activities and events we participated in. Most of them included indulgence on food and wine. The Airbnb was incredible with so many rooms and spaces to hang out. Plus, a really beautiful, secluded pool and hot tub area.
“So basically, you missed me when you were sleeping?” He jokes, placing a hand on your lower back as he unlocks the door to your apartment.
“Yes, and when I was super, wine drunk.”
His laugh electrifies your body.
“Yeah I remember that FaceTime call.” He wiggles his eyebrows at you. You cringe, red filling your cheeks at the awful strip tease you gave him.
“I’m hungry. Do we have any food here?” You ask as he wheels your suitcase down to your room.
“Uh… No.” His airy laughter flows down the hall. Nico is not the grocery shopper in this relationship.
“Okay.” You take a peek in the fridge and then the pantry, finding enough ingredients to make Kraft Mac and Cheese. You put water in the pot, letting it come to a boil.
“You gonna share that with me?” He asks, gliding his hands around your body to rest against your stomach. His back warms you through your shirt as he kisses all along your covered shoulders. His hands begin to travel. First to your hips, then down your thighs and back up. His touch has electricity buzzing in your body.
“Babe, I need a little space.” You mutter after testing a noodle and finding it ready.
“No.” He sighs into your back, nuzzling his nose there.
“You’re going to get a monster if you don’t let me eat.” You warn lightly. Nico knows you’re a completely different person when you’re hungry and steps aside so you can separate the noodles and boiling water. His hands are back on you when you return to the stove top. Nico helps by putting in the butter while you measure the milk out. He cringes as you shake the cheese pack in.
“It’s a disgrace to call that cheese.”
“Probably, but it gets the job done.” You stir it all together, mouth watering at the sight and smell of the cheesy, nostalgic goodness. You dish yourself up a bowl and Nico who says he wants to at least try it before calling it trash to your face.
“Okay, this kinda slaps tho?” He says it questioningly, thick eyebrows drawing together in confusion, slowly chewing his first bite.
“It’s the best. I don’t know how it works, but it hits different as an adult.” Nico devours his bowl, then slides you across the couch to finish your bowl resting against his chest. He flicks the TV on, putting on The Kardashians. You look over your shoulder at him.
“Wow….” You trail off, pausing to take another bite of mac and cheese. You run your tongue along the front of your teeth. “It’s almost like you want something from me tonight.”
“Dying for it. Literally.”
“I’d say your chances are about 90%.”
“Okay… I like those odds. But, how do I get to 100%?”
“Hm.” You contemplate, pushing some more noodles around your bowl. “I think I need a massage.” Nico sits up, eager to please. His hands come to your shoulders, immediately rubbing the tense muscles. “And maybe let your hands wander a bit.”  You shrug as you delicately chew another bite of food. “And I think I need ice cream after this.”
“So many things.” Nico groans. “You know I can bring my chances to 100% by myself, right?”
“How so?” You ask, scooping up another bite. It pauses right before your mouth when he pulls you back flush with his body and begins to bite gently all along your collar bone. You look down at the remaining golden noodles and say goodbye.
Suddenly, you have better things to put in your mouth.

The Monsters on Maple Street A What We Do in the Shadows AU
18+Only for mature subject matter, vampire!eddie, vampire!steve, vampire!robin, familiar!dustin, satire, dark humor, use of the term Master, but really no other warnings that I can think of.
Word count: 994
In honor of the new WWDITS season coming out this month, I wanted to a little something silly. The title is a play on one of my favorite Twilight Zone episodes ❤️
--------
The windows in the house on Maple Street are dark during the day, until the sun goes down, and the coffins open.
Inside, we are greeted by Dustin, the house familiar, who puts a finger to his lips to let us know to keep it to a whisper.  “My Master isn’t awake yet,” he turns on his heel.  “But, any minute now.”
We follow him down the hall where he pauses at one of the many doors, his hand on the knob.
Directly behind us, there is a stern voice. “Who the hell are these people?”
We turn to find one of the other vampire roommates there standing by the staircase wearing jeans, white shirt unbuttoned to expose a wash of chest hair, hands on hips, fangs out.
Dustin comes between us and the vampire, who looks a tad on the grumpy side.  “Everybody, this is Steve,” and then Dustin looks directly at us, whispering, “I told him you were coming, he’s just…oh forget it.”
Steve pushes by us gruffly, on his way down the hall, voice bellowing.  “Where the hell is Robin? Did you wake her up, or do I have to do it?”
Steve has already disappeared down the end of the hall and into another room, not waiting for Dustin’s answer.  “I’m sure she can wake herself up, King Steve,” Dustin responds with a strained smile, blinking a few times.  “I changed all of the batteries in the alarm clocks last week.”
Something thuds overhead, on the floor above us, and we all look up.
“See,” Dustin nods, and then he starts mumbling to himself.  “They need to get their own familiar because this is getting ridiculous.”
“Okay,” Dustin recovers, fingers wrapping around the doorknob again.  “Where were we? So, after we wake up my Master I’ll take you over to show you the—”
“Dustin,” another male voice calls out to your guide, and you turn to see a different roommate appear at the top of the basement stairs.  He is wearing gray sweats and a tie-dye t-shirt, his blonde hair in disarray.  The smell of marijuana smoke fills the hall.
“Yes, Jonathan?” Dustin tries to keep his jovial disposition, but his smile does not reach his eyes.
Jonathan is holding a bag of unopened sunflower seeds.  “Do you know how much salt is in these? I don’t think it says on here.”
“It’s called sodium,” Dustin chuckles just before letting out a hard sigh.  “What does it matter anyway? You can’t eat them.”
“Yeah, I know,” Jonathan grins.  “Doesn’t mean I can’t think about it.”
“Great, well, as you can see, I’m right in the middle of something,” Dustin turns his back on us to hiss through gritted teeth at Jonathan.  “And you can’t get high anymore, so just give it a rest, will you?”
Jonathan goes back down the stairs and Dustin fixes a look of excitement on his face, freezing it there.  “Okay,” he turns the knob.  “I think the coast is clear now.”
We enter behind him into a room with a raised casket horizontal in the middle, surrounded by instruments, metal posters, and a banner along the wall that says Corroded Coffin in red letters.
“Masterrrrrr,” Dustin creeps in, making his way around to the side of the matte black casket with the opening latch.  “It’s time to wake up, Master.  Some nice people are here to meet you.”
From inside the casket, a deep voice says Dustin’s name, and Dustin throws us a smile before doing the work of prying the lid open a sliver so he can peep in.
“Yes, Master?”
There is whispering between them that we can’t hear, but then Dustin raises his voice, “I told you about this.  Yes I did.  Several times.  I put it on your calendar.”
The lid shuts with a bang.  Dustin looks over at us and cocks his head, winking, giving us a thumbs up.  “He’s coming out, he just needs a minute.”
It isn’t long before the lid creaks all the way open, catching at the hinge, exposing the red velvet interior.  The hand that pushed it open is adorned in chunky, metal rings.
The vampire in question ejects to his feet as if on a spring, standing tall before us now, long, dark wavy hair hanging down, clad in a Hellfire tee and black jeans, exposed arms sprinkled in tattoos.
He holds the tip of his tongue to one of his pointed fangs, greedy eyes sweeping over our bodies.  “Is this my breakfast?”
“No, master,” Dustin says hurriedly, coming to stand in front of us.  “We went over this a billion times.  You will not drain the guests.”
Dustin introduces this vampire as Eddie.
Eddie jumps from his casket to land on his feet with ease and saunters over.  He moves to grab something off of the coat hook in the corner, but only catches air.
“My battle jacket,” he frowns.  “Where is it?”
“It’s at the cleaners,” Dustin answers.
Eddie narrows his eyes.  “How dare you?”
“It stunk, Master,” Dustin stood his ground under the searing hot gaze of the vampire, unphased by his vitriol.  “You’ll have it back tomorrow.”
“I can’t wait that long,” Eddie mumbles, pushing by us to head down the hall and to the foyer.  We all watch as he opens the front door to reveal the night sky and yells, “bat!”
He turns into a bat right before our eyes and flaps away.
Our attention returns to Dustin who is pressing his lips together in a tight grin, fingers laced behind his back.  “We all care a lot about each other.  It’s like a family here.”

can u so an oscar grumpy x sunshine i love when the reader is the grumpy one 😭😭
ofc ofc, this is my most popular trope/request atm ;)) {for the sake of the fic, we're gonna pretend this is set when oscar was in f3}
oscar piastri x reader MASTERLIST
synopsis; sunshine oscar comes across f3's newest talent, grumpy y/n.
warnings; none
"Here comes Y/N, we've seen very little of her recently but she is definitely here to make a name for herself. She started only just this Friday in F3, and as we can see, is a force to be reckoned with." The TV presenter boasts, the camera following your car as it whizzes around the track.
Oscar watches intently from his driver's room, upset that he DNF'd, and wanted to be left alone but he couldn't keep his eyes off you on the track.
"She qualified P3, and as we're onto the last lap now, she is fighting for that P1! Is she going to make it in time and pass Logan Sergeant, and there, she goes! An incredible P1 in her first ever F3 race, now this ladies and gentlemen is something truly impressive!" The announcer shouts, camera panning as you wave your hand through the halo in your car.
"Woooo! Yes!" They played the radio recording your team heard as you passed the finish line.
Oscar's eyes bulged out of his head, her first race in F3, let alone the first race of the season and she won? He came out of his room and to the paddock, trying to find you and ask how you did it?
Seeing you jump and down and celebrate with the Trident team, he felt kind of happy for you. He leaned against a counter in your garage, watching as you walked away, taking your helmet off and shaking your hair about. In that moment that he saw you, slightly red cheeks, small drops of sweat and a small smile plastered on your face, he knew he had to make you his.
"Y/N, right?" He called out to you, as you had a mask of confusion on your face.
"Mhm, and you are?" You said as you were taking your gloves off.
"Oscar. Piastri, from Prema." He said with a wide grin, watching as your face didn't falter from your resting expression.
"Cool." You exhaled, walking away to get changed in your driver's room. He watched you walk away and kicked himself for not asking more questions, or anything to keep you longer.
From then on, Oscar famously stuck by your side like glue, and no doubt flirted with you any chance you got. Halfway into the season, the rumours of dating finally started cropping up.
"Y/N, wanna try mine and Logan's cupcakes?" Oscar dragged out your name, holding cupcakes as Logan recorded behind him.
"You've asked me this 3 times Piastri, no." You groaned, annoyed that you were stuck with them till the interview panel was ready.
"But I promise they are so good, delectable, juicy, thick, mois-" Oscar laughed into the camera, his weird use of adjectives stopping as you pulled a hair tie from off your wrist and flicked it as his head, the camera cutting right as he reacts.
The clip had gone viral, with pictures showing Oscar wearing the supposed hair tie on his wrist now.
"I have a question for Oscar and Y/N." The reporter asked, speaking into the microphone as she stood up to face all the F3 drivers up front.
"You two would make an amazing couple. Which one of you is stopping that from happening?" She asked the question as you sat looking bored in your seat, this is probably the sixth time this question has been asked but rephrased.
"Definitely Y/N, we all know her icy heart towards me. But one day she'll be meeting the Piastri family, you can count on it." Oscar looks at her, with a cheeky grin on his face, looking at you as your cheeks went slightly red at his answer.
"I don't know what Piastri's talking about, but if anyone has anymore questions about relationships you can go into a different panel, we're all hear to talk about the races no?" You said embarrassed, hearing all the drivers around you laugh at your snarky remarks.
Walking around the paddock, fans always snapped cute pictures of you and Oscar walking together, his arm around your shoulders, and one very sneaky picture that another driver captured, both of you asleep in each other's arms.
Posting that picture on Instagram, with a single heart for the caption, everybody knew that Oscar had finally made you his.

Season of love event @george-weasleys-girl
"— I can't imagine a world where I don't have you two with me..."
Girassol (Part 1)
Fred Weasley x reader
Tumblr media
Warnings: More than one pronoun for R , long fic, twins call reader their Girassol 🌻, George x reader platonic, fluff and a little angst, Grumpy and Sunshine, English isn't my first language
Versão Português Inspired by Girassol - IVYSON
Tumblr media
— Ginny, can you please stop talking about this for a second? – I stop in the middle of the burrow stairs, turning to Hermione and Ginny who are behind me.
— I'm just saying..
— Okay, an idea: stop saying
For those of you who have arrived now, I will explain the situation. I had the brilliant idea of dating one of Ginny's older brothers, Fred Weasley, after being friends with the twins for my first four years at Hogwarts. Don't get me wrong, was amazing, but after they left school and opened WWW, war became a real possibility and Hermione, Ron and I were worried about helping Harry.
In short, things got more complicated, we became distant and broke up. I didn't want but I didn't have the courage to insist. Anyway, we became 'friends' again.
Last night, while talking to Hermione I mentioned that I missed him and our conversations. The problem was that Ginny overheard, what brought us to this situation.
— I don't wanna talk about it, Ginny. I'll ask just one more time. Please. – I go down the stairs and head towards the living room with the girls right behind me.
— Ginny, drop it. Stop before you hear something you don't want. – Hermione says, noticing my irritation. They sit together on a couch, and I sit across from them.
— Everyone can see that my brother made an idiotic choice. I just think she could go talk to him, try to resolve the situation," Gina says, head down.
Tumblr media
The night after the Seven Potters event.
Harry, Ron and Hermione were already asleep, I've been looking at the sky through the bedroom window for some time now, the stress of fighting the death eaters and the worry haven't let me sleep. I get up and go downstairs, maybe I can clear my mind by changing the environment and checking if the twins are okay.
George had fallen asleep on the couch and Fred would never leave his brother alone, so they slept in the living room. When I reached the bottom of the stairs, I noticed that one of the boys was awake.
— Hey – I called him in a low tone so as not to wake the others
— Hey, can't sleep? – is George. He made to sit down, but I stopped him first.
— You don't need to get up, you have to rest and no, I couldn't. – I take out my wand and clean the bandages around his head. — Still hurts?
George looks at me with a teasing smile. — Have you forgotten who I am, woman? A scratch like that can't knock me down.
I roll my eyes and perform a healing spell to help with the injury. I sit next to George on the floor after placing my wand on the table. We talked like that for a while, maybe more than an hour, a sleepy George making jokes even in a bad moment, me leaning on the sofa and we trying to keep the laughter down so as not to wake anyone else up.
...
— Hey... I'm sorry our friendship got weird, it's just... I don't know, I didn't know how to act after your breakup.
— That's okay, I didn't know how to act either. I missed our conversations. – In the last few weeks, whenever the twins and I were in the same room, an uncomfortable silence would settle in, so it was good to talk to George, even in those conditions.
— I missed you too idiot, and you know... – I see him nod to the other redhead — I wasn't the only one
— Yes? Did he tell you that? – I ask skeptically, looking down at the floor. George got up and sat next to me with a playful smile.
— Yes, just don't tell him I told you that.
— Oh shut up, I think the spell affected your brain and made you more of an idiot than you already were. – My heart races at the thought of Fred admitting to missing me, but it doesn't change anything if he hasn't admitted it to me.
George was stifling a laugh when he curled up and let out a groan of pain.
— Are you ok Georgie? – I take out my wand and whisper a "Lumos" to brighten the room.
— Yeah, just a bit of pain, don't worry – Some noises can be heard behind us. George looks over my head and breaks into a smile. I follow his gaze to find a confused, recently awakened Fred. — Did we wake you, sleeping beauty? – George teases as Fred sits on the couch, letting the blanket fall to the floor and mumbles a confused "What time is it?"
— Are you the ones making the noise? Why are you awake at this time? – He blinks a few times, getting used to the light in the room. Suddenly, Fred's eyes widen, and I can tell that any trace of sleep he had is gone. — Did something happen? George is ok?
— Yes, don't worry, I couldn't sleep so we were talking. Sorry for the noise – Fred visibly relaxes, if I was worried about George, imagine him.
— It's okay, I got plenty of sleep – He stoops to pick up the blanket from the floor and covers himself again. Sleep... I didn't realize how sleepy I was until now.
— It will be dawn soon... What were you doing? I mean, were you here together a long time?
The look on Fred's face amuses George and we can see a gleam of mischief in his eyes. — The little girassol here was taking care of me, they're a great doctor, you know?!
I can't really follow the conversation, apparently Fred frowned at George's comment. Now they are teasing each other and laughing louder than they should. I always loved how chaotic they were together; I also always loved being in that chaos.

Fred's POV
A mischievous glint flashed across George's eyes — Ah, the little girassol here was looking after me! She's a great doctor.
I unintentionally frown, 'taking care of me'?
— You're a grown man, can't you look after yourself? – His laughter echoed around the room.
— Don't be like that, I let you play nurse too.
I let out a 'hole', starting to laugh too. George gets up and lies back on the couch. My eyes wander around the room, and I see the 'little girassol' is unusually quiet. A smile lights up my face when I realize she's sleeping, leaning on the couch in an uncomfortable position.
I stand up and put one arm around her back and the other under her legs, trying not to disturb her peaceful sleep. I carefully lift her into my arms, and she snuggles up against me, her face resting in the crook of my neck. Her soft breathing stopped my own for a moment. I freeze, realizing how close we are now.
I turn around and put her on the couch. Once I'm sure she's in a comfortable position, I sit down in front of the couch. Can't help but keep my eyes on her. She shifts a bit, and without thinking twice, my hand reaches out to sweep away a couple of strands of hair falling over their face. She's just so darn lovely.
— I can't imagine a world where I don't have you two with me – Before I can finish my train of thought, a scream echoed behind us. George and I quickly stood up, frantically searching for the source of the sound...

Tumblr media
The next morning I couldn’t sit down. I was so anxious from the day before, my brain could not properly process everything that had happened. Making out with Joel, Harlow’s outburst, and hell even just meeting Frank and Bill and all of their joy and sadness. I stayed in my pajamas well into the late morning. My hair sat on top of my head in a messy bun, yesterday’s makeup still smeared on my face.
As I put my coffee in the microwave to reheat it for the third time that day, my doorbell rang. I groaned, not wanting to see anyone. It was potentially Harlow, whom I really wasn’t too keen on seeing.
I shuffled my way to the door and opened it a sliver, peeking out to see who was there. To my chagrin, it was Harlow. She was standing with her arms crossed, wearing a hat and sunglasses to help with what I assumed was a gnarly hangover.  I sighed and opened the door the rest of the way.
“Hi Harlow,” I said flatly, “how can I assisst you today?”
“Oh cut the bullshit, Violet. I’m here to apologize.”
Behind me the microwave started to beep, annoyingly alerting me that my coffee was done. I motioned with my hand for her to come in.
“Come on, I gotta get my coffee” I said, leaving the door open for her as I headed for the microwave to shut it up. I heard the door shut as I pulled my coffee out. Harlow stalked into the kitchen after me, hanging in the doorway, her sunglasses still on. “You want to go into the sun room and talk?”
She nodded before following me out into the room. We sat down on opposite ends of the couch, silent for a few minutes before she spoke.
“I’m sorry about yesterday,” she started, not looking at me, “I shouldn’t have brought up the bakery in front of everyone. And for blowing up at you and Joel. He was right, it’s none of my business-”
“Do you really think I’m fucking Joel so he works on my house?” I asked, cutting her off. She sighed, still not making eye contact with me.
“I don’t know,’ she said tenderly.
“Well you knew yesterday! You said I was like all the other women who apparently fucked Joel and used him,” I said. I could feel myself getting heated and I tried my best to tone it down. I didn’t want to fight with her.
“And I was wrong to say that! Yes, there have been other women in the past who have done that to him, but I knew deep down inside that wasn’t true,” she explained.
“Then Harlow what’s the issue?”
“Because he’s my older brother, Violet, and you’re my friend. I’m not keen to the idea of you two being together, let alone being physical.”
“Well, just so you know, girl to girl, yesterday was the first time Joel even kissed me,” I told her. Heat raced through my body as I thought of how he had me pinned to the wall, the way his teeth felt against my neck… I shook the thought from my head.
“It was?” she asked, guilt coating her tone. I nodded.
“And I ruined it, huh?” I nodded again.
“You did, but honestly that’s okay. You were right about us acting like hormonal teenagers at a wedding though,” I said, blushing a little. She laughed.
“But, I’m really sorry Violet. I mean it,” she said, turning to face me this time. I couldn’t help but giggle a little as she took her sunglasses off. Her eyes were completely bloodshot, dark purple bags under her eyes.
“Well, thank you for the apology,” I told her, giving her a half smile.
There was silence between us again.
“Did you really have a bakery though?” she asked, breaking the silence.
I nodded. “I did. It was one the best things I’ve ever done in my life.”
“What made you…stop?” she asked, her tone genuine and not accusing like yesterday. I sighed.
“I sold the bakery so that I could buy this house,” I said simply. She narrowed her eyes at me.
“I know I’m on thin ice right now, but what aren’t you saying about that situation?” she questioned. I sighed again, leaning forward and setting my down on the table.
“Because I needed to get the hell away from my ex,” I said uneasily. I hadn’t talked about him since I left 4 months ago. So this was like ripping off a bandaid that had just stopped the wound from bleeding.
“Oh-oh Violet you don’t have to talk about it-”
“No, no I think I should,” I decided out loud.
“What happened?” Harlow asked gently.
“So, I was with my ex Matt for…four years total? Dating for three, engaged for the last year before I broke it off,” I told her.
“What caused you to break it off?”
I laughed uncomfortably. “Well, once you realize someone is controlling and manipulative and emotionally and mentally abusive, sometimes you leave.”
Harlow got up and sat down next to me, holding my hand in hers.
“What would he do?” she pressed softly. I felt tears stinging at my eyes.
“I mean, it was all things I didn’t notice until I was almost out. He always had to know where I was. Constantly calling and texting while I was at work or with friends. I mean, of course it didn’t start off that way. Everything was great and fun in the beginning. I don’t know when the flip was, but honestly it happened so gradually I couldn’t notice it.
“But eventually he started controlling my money, who I would hang out with, even what I wanted to do with my business. I just, I started to feel crazy when I was with him. He was always the most doting partner and happy and loving out in public, but then at home he almost treated me like I was a child and a burden. When I’m the one who put myself through culinary school, I’m the one who worked my ass off to start my own business. I was only 24 when I opened my bakery. I was so proud of myself,” I explained. Tears crept down my cheeks, and I wiped them away hotly with my free hand.
“Oh Violet, I’m so sorry that happened. How’d you get out?”
“Well, I hatched a plan. If I wanted to get away from him, I knew I needed to sell the bakery. It was the only way I was going to have any money that he didn’t know about. So I opened a bank account at a different bank in another town an hour away. I sold the bakery behind his back and then later that week he went on a business trip. While he was gone, I packed all of my shit into a uHaul. I got a new phone so I could leave my old one so he wouldn’t be able to track me. I wrote him a letter telling him I was done and that he wouldn’t be able to reach me. Then I left my ring with the note and drove away. I drove for at least three hours and found a motel I could stay in. Turned out it was this town,” I ended with a smile.
“Holy shit, Vi,” she said, her mouth agape.
“My dream, other than to have the bakery, was to buy an old house and fix it up myself. Make it how I wanted it to be. Matt always told me I couldn’t do it on my own. So I decided to do the ultimate ‘fuck you’ to him and buy a house to do just that with. If I couldn’t have my bakery, I was going to have my other dream,” I said, “so I lived in the motel for a couple months while I searched for the perfect house. And then I found this beauty. She was dirt cheap, and even cheaper because I could pay in cash. And then I’ve had enough left over to keep me afloat until I find work and fix up the house.”
“I- god I feel like such a fucking ass now,” she told me, rubbing her face with her hands. I laughed.
“I mean, you kinda should,” I jeered, nudging her.
“You’re amazing,” she stated. I scoffed at her.
“No, I’m not-”
“Violet, shut up. You are. You got out of an abusive relationship. You literally just traded one dream for another. That’s pretty amazing,” she said with a reassuring smile.
“Um, since we’re talking about stuff from our pasts, can I ask you-”
“Who Lucas was?” she cut me off, finishing my sentence. I nodded and she let out a big huff, falling back against the back of the couch.
“Alright, so Lucas was my older brother. He was a lot older than me. Our parents had me by surprise when he was 19. Since our parents were so much older than me and just honestly didn’t care much to raise me past the baby stage, Lucas stepped in and took over. I started living with him full time when I was seven or eight,” she told me. Her eyes were vacant, lost in memories as she spoke.
“So then when I was ten, Lucas decided to join a softball team with some of his buddies from his construction job. He took me to their first game because there wasn’t anyone to watch me, and that’s where I met Joel and Sarah,” she said. My face scrunched in confusion. Sarah?
“Who’s Sarah?” I asked. Tears started falling down Harlow’s cheeks at this question.
She sniffed before answering me. “Um, Sarah was Joel’s daughter.”
My heart bottomed into my stomach.
His daughter. His daughter. Joel once had a child.
“Oh-oh my god Harlow-”
“No, don’t say anything yet, let me finish.”
I nodded.
“So, Lucas, Joel, Sarah and I all became very tight knit. Tommy, too. Sarah and I ended up spending a lot of time together because of Luke and Joel. She definitely became one of my best friends. She introduced me to The Clash and we played soccer together and would have sleepovers constantly. Joel and Lucas were definitely best friends, too, even if grown men won’t call each other that,” she said, cracking a smile.
“September 26th, 2003 was the day. I can’t believe it’s already been 20 years since it happened. Sometimes it feels like it happened last week,’ she started. “I was 13, Sarah was 14. Her and I had just finished a soccer game together and since it was Joel’s birthday, the four of us loaded up into Joel’s car and headed out to have a celebratory dinner.”
I felt as tears began brimming in my own eyes, stinging to make sure I knew they were there. I knew where this was going.
“I don’t remember it happening, I was knocked unconscious on impact when the other car hit us. Sometimes I wish I hadn’t so I could know what happened, but at the same time I’m very grateful. Joel was alert the whole time, and it really fucked him up. But um, Lucas was in the passenger seat, and Sarah behind him on that side. That was the side that was hit. The car was mangled when it was all said and done. I honestly don’t know how Joel and I made it out of the car alive with just a few broken bones and cuts and scrapes,” she said. I rested back against the couch with Harlow, wiping tears from my eyes.
“God, I’m so sorry that happened to you,” I said, not knowing really what else to say. She shrugged.
“Joel and I both definitely struggled with survivor’s guilt, Joel more so than me. We still do. I had to kick his ass into gear more than once in that first year after the accident. I won’t get into it, because that's his story to tell, not mine. But I moved in with Tommy and Joel after Lucas and Sarah died. I guess we kinda filled the hole we were both missing for each other.”
“So yesterday when you said Joel had been your older brother since Lucas died, you meant like he actually became your father figure,” I said as she smiled with a nod.
“Exactly right. And over the years I’ve watched random women come and go and leave him broken hearted. I know he was trying to fill some void he felt like he needed to fill, but he always picked the wrong women. And then Tommy and I would have to help the old grump get his head back on straight,” she said with an eye roll, “So I guess I just, I dont know. I was jealous that you and him were going to get closer than you and I, too. You were my friend first and then I found out you opened up to him about something big after just knowing him a week.”
“Yeah, sorry about that. It’s not that I didn’t want to tell you. When I first moved in I was extremely paranoid about Matt finding out where I was, so I didn’t tell anyone about it,” I explained. She shook her head.
“No, no it is absolutely understandable why you didn’t tell anyone.”
Harlow and I sat for the next hour talking, telling each other about random details from our former lives. My coffee took two more trips to the microwave, but eventually I gave up and just let it be cold.
“Oh! I meant to ask you,” she started, turing in her seat to face me, “Why were you wearing Joel’s clothes when he dropped you off here last week?”
I breathed out a laugh. “Um, well that’s because the day before I fell in the shower and dislocated my shoulder in the process. Joel is the one who took me to the hospital to get taken care of. And then since I was hopped up on pain killers he took me to his place to keep an eye on me.”
She gave me a smug smile. “Violet, that man is sprung on you.”
“Oh he is not,” I said shaking my head.
Harlow scoffed. “Vi, when I said that man is a grump, I meant it. That’s why I warned you before you two met. I have literally never seen him this happy. Like, I haven’t seen him smile this much since I was a kid.”
I bit at my bottom lip, trying to contain a smile. We both jumped a little as her phone buzzed in her pocket, the whole couch vibrating with it. She leaned forward and pulled her phone from her pocket.
“Well speak of the devil, it’s Joel,” she said as she unlockd her phone. I watched her eyes scan the phone, reading the message.
“Have you already talked to him today?” I inquired. She nodded, not looking away from her phone as she typed. When she was done she put her phone down and looked up at me.
“Oh yes. Tommy and Ellie took me back to Tommy’s last night,” she said, rolling her eyes. “And Joel was over bright and early this morning, being loud and obnoxious. When I came out to the kitchen after waking up, Joel said he had made me a nice ‘karma breakfast’ as he handed me food. I may or may not have thrown up in the sink at the sight of it,” she said. I giggled.
“But you two talked? You’re okay?”
“Yeah, yeah. I got an earful from him about not getting into other people’s business when I don’t know full story, etc etc,” she said, rolling her eyes again, “but Joel texted asking if I was still up to Sunday dinner at his place. You wanna come?”
“Absolutely.”

I sometimes look back at the first poster of TGAMM and thought the ghost character would be a traditional comedically grumpy ghost character and we would have another fun albeit unspectacular silly cartoon for kids.
Little did we know that the ghost character would spark some fascinating look into how childhood trauma can lead to aggressive cries for help. Don’t you just love it when your expectations are shatteringly subverted?!
AGREED.
(There will be spoilers for the most recent Season 2 episodes going forward as I talk about this, be warned).
I knew something was off about Scratch the moment he was introduced to us, specifically the fact he was so alone. I just thought it would never get addressed because of how the series was so focused on the story told in Season 1, with the Flow and the Chairman and all that crap. I thought his past was, well, in the past, and the show was only focused on the present. It was there for fans to fantasize and wonder about, but it would never actually come to light what he went through.
When we got the synopsis for A Soda To Remember, I was nervous. I wanted to know what would happen, but at the same time, I wanted the show to stay in the present. But the way the writers have been discussing all of the things that happened when Scratch was alive is making me so invested into it all. There was a time when I was first watching the series that I lowkey didn't really want to see what Scratch looked like as a human, and now, I'm literally FEASTING off of the one glimpse we saw of him in All In The Mind. The writers said we'd find out how he died, and I could never be more hyped (and scared for what we're going to find out, of course).
One think I appreciate in kids shows like these is how the writers are never afraid to address real-world issues and topics. Take the Home episode from Season 1 (yes I'm too lazy to write out it's full name but it's episode 18) as an example. Now here we have Scratch, who 100% has anxiety or other mental disorders that have all been from childhood trauma. (Now, before you go out and say "oh but a friend moving away isn't trauma" ummmmm ever consider why he has no biological family???? lol). He's repressed his feelings so deep inside of him because he's scared to confront this PTSD he has. You can still tell he has some sort of mental attachment to things that've happened in the past, hence why he was staying inside of the attic of Adia's old house before the McGees moved in, but he's trying his best to ignore it. And the catch is: it's not working. That's why things are "bubbling up to the surface", as they've been calling it. From the get-go, Scratch has always had a problem with hiding things from people. In Season 1, you could tell he didn't want to tell Molly about how dangerous their friendship was. He told her about things in Scratch the Surface/Friend Off, but you could tell he was doing it in a way where Molly wouldn't see the issue as much of a problem, when in reality it was a massive problem that Scratch was trying to deal with all on his own. And in episodes like the Turnip Twist, that problem of hiding what was happening was really hard for him to do. All of it is starting to make sense now - he's hiding everything. All because of what's happened in his past and the fact that he's too scared to confront his emotions.
I cannot wait to see what the rest of the season. I want my ghost boy to find closure. He deserves it 🙏

The clock ticks down until it’s zero’s across the board. They did it. They won the Stanley Cup. You can barely process it before everyone’s jumping up around you. Nate’s parents are hugging, his mom crying when she turns to hug you. You look over to see your daughter, Bella in Nate’s sister’s arms, waving her arms around as she screams with the rest of the family.
Everywhere you turn, there’s someone new to hug. The rest of the girls around you are cheering while filming the boys celebrating on the ice and you’re so caught up in the excitement to even realize what’s happen.
Soon enough, your section is being escorted down to the ice and you’re keeping Bella close to you just in case. Most of the kids didn’t come to Florida but Nate insisted that Bella was here. However the few that are here seem just as excited as anyone as they wave their little flags as the group makes their way down to ice level.
The girls all hang back while the families get to the guys first and then everyone breaks up and it’s absolute chaos on the ice. Your grip on Bella’s hand is tight and you carefully make your way through the crowd in search of your boyfriend.
“Bells!” Your head whips around to see Nate behind you which makes you all but jump into his arms. Bella, feeling a little left out, attaches herself to Nate’s leg which makes him laugh.
“Congratulations Babe” Nate’s holding you up with one arm while the other hold’s Bella securely to his leg so she doesn’t fall.
“Told you we’d do it” You can see the tears in his eyes as he nods, affirming the statement he’s been reiterating to you all season long.
“I never doubted you” You grinned before kissing him. “I knew you’d bring it home Nate, we all did, it was just a matter of time”
He set you down, quickly swapping you for Bella, hoisting her up into the air as she squealed. “You wanna go touch the cup Bells?” Nate asked and your heart pounded when you saw the way he looked at her. His eyes were full of happiness and love; it had been a while since you’d seen him like that. The stress of the season and lately the cup run was a lot on him and you could tell.
“Can I go to Uncle EJ?” Bella pointed about 10 feet away where EJ was celebrating with his family.
“Go quick, if he’s busy you come back okay?” Bella nodded and you watched your four year old run across the ice, straight into EJ’s arms who happily spins around with her.
“So…” You trail off, turning back to your boyfriend.
“So?” Nate asks, clearly amused if the look on his face says anything.
“I believe there was some sort of promise you made… something about you asking me something?” You smirk when Nate throws his head back in laughter.
It was something you’d been waiting for a while now. Nate was never supposed to be in your life forever. You were originally set up by your best friend who somehow knew EJ and the two plotted to set their ‘grumpy single friends’ up. Surprisingly, you and Nate hit it off and started dating. After a year together, you got pregnant with Bella and your relationship got a lot more serious very quickly. Before that, it was more for fun, Nate was coming off a fought season and you were just starting your first real job. You were both very career driven and relationships weren’t that big of a priority for either of you which actually was what made your connection so strong.
Neither of you were waiting around for a call or text every night. You had your own seperate lives and you were okay with that. Obviously a child changed that drastically. You moved in with Nate and your lives became more intertwined than ever. He got excited that he was now coming home to you, home games that you weren’t in attendance for were few and far in between, and if that wasn’t enough, as soon as he saw Bella, he was completely enthralled.
There was no way Nate was letting either of his girls out of his life anytime soon but he had yet to ask the big question. His parents liked to tease him about it more than you’d expect really. It wasn’t that they were upset that you had a child before getting married, they loved Bella almost as much as they loved Nate. And they loved you as well which is why any time they saw Nate, they’d pester him about his plans on popping the question.
The guys liked to make fun of him too but you always stayed quiet, you understood his reasoning on waiting. He was in a crucial time in his career right now and his main focus was hockey. He loved your little family, that would never change but he always claimed there were just some goals he wanted to accomplish before getting married.
It didn’t bother you, if anything, you admired how focused he could be. His promise was always that the day he won the cup, he’d ask. When his parents found out about that, they didn’t seem too pleased but you always said ‘okay’.
You weren’t going to pressure him to do it before and it wasn’t like you were going anywhere, no ring would change that, so there was no harm in waiting.
“A promise? I don’t know…” Nate chuckled as you rolled your eyes.
“C’mon Nathan! You got your ring, now give me mine” You made little grabby hands at him which made him laugh, gently pushing you away.
“Alright calm down! I know what I promised, don’t worry”
“I touched it! I touched the trophies!” Bella comes flying into you as she slides along the ice and you laugh, steadying her before Nate picks her up.
“The trophies?” You ask.
“Mhm Uncle Cale let me touch his because he said Daddy should have won too” Bella explains and Nate shakes his head.
“C’mon Bells we’re going to go with Grandma and Grandpa while Daddy goes to celebrate okay?” You had noticed the group on the ice had started to thin out, the guys going back to the locker room while families filed out, either to head back to their hotel or to the banquet hall which was pre booked in the event that they did win.
“No!” Bella whined, clinging to Nate a little tighter. “I wanna go with Daddy!”
“Bells” Nate sighed, adjusting her in his arms. “You can’t come with me, you’ll get trampled” The locker room was going to be a mess and it was certainly not a place for kids.
“We can go find the girls, maybe they’ll want to come for ice cream before bed” Bella loved being apart of ‘the girls’. She would try to sneak out of bed whenever the wives came over for an away game watch party and you usually let her if it wasn’t too late.
“Okay! Do you want ice cream Daddy?”
“I’m fine B, we can go together when we get home, okay?” She nods and gives him a quick hug before squirming out of his arms and running off to where a group of girls were standing and talking.
“Guess we’re leaving now”
“See you at the party later?” Nate mumbled as he pulls you in for another hug.
“Of course” You smile and his easy smile back sends you for a loop again. It seems so surreal, even after you’ve done it all. You took your family pictures with the cup, watched as Nate celebrated with Gabe and EJ who had truly been through the worst of it with him. Everything that typically happened after a cup win, you had done it but it still doesn’t seem real.
“Hey, I’ve got an idea” Nate grabs your hand before you can walk away and just by the look in his eyes, you can tell what he’s thinking.
“We are not eloping in Tampa, Nathan” It was something he always joked about, that you’d just run off and get married one day but you knew his family would kill him.
“We can fly to Vegas” He suggested.
“No. Go spray your boys with champagne and I’ll see you after” Nate smiled before kissing you again and skating off, hustling to get back into the celebrations.

Why I love the Jeoffs in "The Ghost and Molly McGee"
(Warning, VERY long essay ahead)
There’s a lot to love about “The Ghost and Molly McGee” - from its lovable characters and fantastic animation, to its hilarious jokes and incredibly catchy songs, to its morals on kindness and spreading positivity. But while I admire all of these elements, one of my personal favorite things from TGAMM is the relationship between Geoff and Jeff.
To me, Geoff and Jeff seem to stand above a lot of the rest in terms of mlm rep. They aren’t just used for comedy relief, nor do they rely on cliches, and they aren’t just the dads of a side character that we hardly see - though they're still a middle-aged queer couple, which is pretty rare and just nice to see. They’re recurring characters who help out with plots and who actually FEEL like actual characters. To fully explain this, let’s take a deeper dive into these two and what makes them so great both as individuals and as a pair.
Meet Geoff
While he only appears in a handful of episodes throughout the series, I can appreciate that - much like characters such as Libby and Andrea - Geoff was introduced and established early on in the show. Voiced by Eric Edelstein, who some may recognize as Grizz from We Bare Bears, Geoff is the happy-go-lucky and somewhat ditzy ghost-best friend of Scratch. While Scratch may not always appreciate him (ESPECIALLY in the early half of the 1st Season), Geoff is always there to lend a hand or a hug, often letting whatever insults or cold-shoulders that Scratch throws at him just slide off his back.
It would have been INCREDIBLY easy to just make Geoff the brainless comedy relief character ala Patrick Star, but much like with Grizz, there’s a lot of genuine heart put into this character, even if he isn’t always the sharpest crayon in the box. Given that his first appearance shows him altering his calendar so he can hang out with Scratch and then playing dumb about it when Scratch tries to call him out, we’re able to get the feeling pretty early on that there’s more to this ghost than it seems.
Something similar happens in the Sart Duan Sib episode when Geoff takes advantage of Scratch’s poor grammar to invite a bunch of other ghosts to the dinner. We then see him help save Scratch’s butt by talking up Scratch’s ‘unique scaring technique’ in the episode “Scare Tactics” - so we know that even if he doesn’t know stuff like basic history facts about Lincoln, Geoff is still just a bit more clever than he looks.
It should also be noted that Geoff knew Scratch before the McGees moved into his house - in other words, he likely noticed that for as grumpy and anti-social as Scratch was, he was also probably very lonely. So, much like Molly, Geoff was willing to do what he could to help pull Scratch out of his shell, seeing the good in him and - as such - being able to ignore the fact that Scratch was a pretty crappy friend in the early stages of their relationship. The show makes it clear that Geoff isn’t oblivious to Scratch’s obvious flaws, even acknowledging them in some instances (see him nodding along to Scratch’s points about how he can be lazy and selfish at the end of “Jinx VS the Human World”), he just chooses to easily forgive them in favor of seeing and believing in the best in his buddy.
So yeah, while there are small instances of Scratch manipulating him, it never outright feels like Geoff is a full-on doormat for Scratch - and, once Scratch is able to let down some of his walls, they’re even able to have fun together! Geoff also gets to show off his loyalty in episodes like “The Turnip Twist” and the season 1 finale, with these instances also showing how much of a power-house he’s able to be when he’s determined or when one of his loved ones is in danger through him destroying the festival or fighting off the SobGoblins.
By the end of season 1, we pretty much have a full grasp on Geoff’s character. He’s a bit dopey and is often seen spacing out, but he can also be observant and clever when he wants to be. He’s friendly, genuine, loyal and incredibly supportive towards others - and in that sense, he's less Patrick Star and more Olaf the Snowman in terms of goofy side characters. All in all, he’s a simple but still fully realized character - and, while he may not get as much overall screen time as his after-life partner, the same could be said for Jeff.
Meet Jeff
Funnily enough, while Jeff doesn’t get a proper introduction until s2, the show actually hints at him pretty early on. In “Not So Honest Abe” when Scratch and Geoff are at their favorite coffee house, the barista calls out an order, and Geoff immediately knows that it’s his partner’s order, not his.
On the surface, it just seems like Geoff just supernaturally knows whenever someone is saying J-E-F-F instead of G-E-O-F-F - which, knowing him, he probably does have that ability… somehow. But, interestingly, the order that the barista calls out is a Misery Mocha with extra whip. While it’s not the cookie frightaccino that we see Jeff drinking in s2, he does take both drinks with extra whipped cream (or rather, whipped screams, because ghosts). So yeah, that’s a nice little easter egg there.
Then, in the Sart Duan Sib episode, we get to fully see Jeff for the first time. The two Jeoffs sit together at the table, and there’s actually a quick shot of the two of them in the background where Geoff is feeding something to Jeff, all while just giving him this absolutely adoring look (love it).
Tumblr media
Finally, during the s2 premiere, we see Jeff standing next to Geoff during Scratch’s big Chairman ceremony. So yeah, while it’s unclear WHEN exactly the creators decided on this relationship, it was at the very least established by mid-s1.
Voiced by Vincent Rodriguez III, who previously voiced Ansel Beauregard in Netflix’s “Arlo the Alligator Boy” - though others may know him for his work in Crazy Ex-Girlfriend - Jeff finally gets his proper introduction in “The (After)Life of the Party”, and actually gets to appear in several episodes afterwards. Again, it’s just nice to see this character - and his relationship with Geoff - actually get to stick around instead of being shunted to the background/void. What’s more, while Jeff obviously loves Geoff a ton and would most likely kill for his man, him being happily in love is not his only character trait.
Both Jeoffs are sociable extroverts and are incredibly friendly guys, but while Geoff tends to be friendly almost to a fault at some points, Jeff is willing to be just a bit mean when he needs to be. This, of course, is shown when he point-blank tells Scratch that if he ever does something to seriously hurt his partner, he’s gonna have to answer to him. Thankfully, Jeff doesn’t hold TOO much of a grudge once he lays down the law. Still, that connects to another similarity between the Jeoffs, as they can both be supportive and incredibly protective of the ones they love.
As for differences, Jeff is shown to subtly be just a bit of a humble bragger - like when he talks about how the guest list at his and Geoff’s anniversary party is going to include “the best of the best” or when he points out how he’s “classically trained” when he shows off his tap dancing skills during the “This House is Haunted” song.
Speaking of that episode, I really love the bit during the scare-off between Geoff and Howlin' Harriet where Jeff just blatantly chooses Geoff as the winner, all while claiming that he’s a 'non-bias judge'. Honestly, it’s both hilarious and adorable, if also just a bit petty.
Moving on, we see that while both Jeoffs are pretty openly honest guys, Geoff will often try to sugarcoat things while Jeff can be incredibly blunt and more than a little snarky, as seen when he got annoyed with Jinx during their fake Wheel of Fortune game in the episode “Jinx!” or with his “soft rock personality” comment towards Scratch in “Davenport’s in Demise”. Although, with the latter, I have to wonder if that was just Jeff being petty again, given that Scratch very clearly interrupted their coffee date just to get some shallow validation - and, yeah, I’d be just a bit annoyed too.
We should also acknowledge his “terrible chairman” comments in “Jinx VS the Human World” - as, while these comments definitely aren’t quite accurate, given that Scratch did quite a few good things as chairman, namely getting rid of the Flow of Failed Phantoms permanently - they do speak to Jeff having just a bit of a temper leading to him occasionally being harsher than necessary, showing that BOTH Jeoffs can be pretty emotional, just on different sides of the spectrum.
It really is an amazing feat just how much character the TGAMM crew was able to put into Jeff despite him only really being prominently featured in the last third or so of the series. Again, they could have taken the lazy route and made him JUST Geoff’s love interest, likely making Jeff a near-carbon copy of his partner instead of the two of them having a good amount of similarities and differences. But because BOTH characters are decently fleshed out, we’re able to get a really good grasp on their incredibly sweet and enjoyable relationship.
Time to gush about Jeoff
There really is just sooooooo much to praise about this pairing - right down to their character designs having a sort of yin-yang aspect to them, with Geoff’s bottom-heavy design and Jeff’s top-heavy design allowing them to fit together perfectly! Their colors also go together incredibly well.
Honestly, you could mute their dialogue and still be able to tell how much they love each other, just because they’re constantly giving each other loving looks and being physically affectionate with each other - hugging, holding hands, holding each other, Geoff hanging off Jeff’s arm, giving each other looks that just SCREAM “I love you” all that great stuff. We only get one actual kiss on the lips between them - and a quick one at that - but it’s one of those cases where I don’t mind too much, given that they really aren’t subtle or lacking when it comes to other examples of physical affection so it never feels like the TGAMM crew is trying to hide their romance like other shows might. Heck, just the fact that they’ve canonically been together for a full 100 years speaks to the strength of their relationship.
Tumblr media
Episodes like “(After)Life of the Party”, “Frightmares on Main Street” and “Dance Dad Revolution” show how much they enjoy dancing with each other - which, seeing this, now I kinda want to see a 2-V-2 dance off between the Jeoffs, Pete and Sonia AKA the Ice Princess. I feel like that’d be both super fun and incredibly entertaining.
Tumblr media
(just look at how happy they are. It's so cute, I can't- My heart-! *also I still find it hilarious that these two just foiled Scratch's whole scheme in Dance Dad completely on accident, haha*)
We also learn that they make each other homemade gifts - like Jeff apparently making Geoff a sweater for his Death Day, and Geoff talking about how all his holiday gifts for Jeff are always homemade so that they always come from the heart.
But beyond the cute visuals, what really sells these two for me is their dynamic. When you think about Geoff and all we saw of him during s1, he is very much the type of guy who not only supports those he loves, but is willing to sacrifice them as well. After all, Geoff literally got himself thrown into the Flow of Failed Phantoms for the sake of trying to protect Molly and Scratch in the s1 finale. Again, much like Molly, he just naturally cares a ton and he’ll fight for those he cares about, even when it’s at detriment to himself - and what’s more, people like Scratch sometimes take advantage of that.
In that sense, it’s incredibly sweet that for as supportive and loyal as Geoff is towards others, Jeff is able to be that sort of person for him. While Geoff can sometimes disregard his own needs or concerns in favor of helping others, Jeff is the only one consistently looking out for Geoff and protecting him, such as when he outright refuses to leave Geoff behind in the Halloween episode - even after Geoff worries about slowing him down - or when he makes it clear to Scratch that he isn’t going to stand by and let him be a bad friend to his partner. Heck, even more joke-y moments like Jeff giving Geoff the win in the scare-off shows that he always has his partner’s back.
And of course, Geoff is just as supportive and affectionate in return, referring to Jeff as “amazing” and “awesome” and declaring how he’s happy to spend the rest of his after-life with him at their anniversary party. When he thinks he’s about to die from poisoned candy in the Halloween ep, his so-called last words are “tell Jeff I love him!” When Jeff is playing the host of their fake Wheel of Fortune show, Geoff is right there supporting him as his ‘lovely assistant’, even using his explanation of one of the show’s prizes (the foam finger) as an excuse to flirt with him.
Tumblr media
(One of my fave moments between them ngl)
Additionally - and this is getting a bit into headcanon territory but - when you look at Jeff, he has a very traditionally strong and masculine look to him, which likely caused other people to likely have certain expectations of him back when he was alive. As such, I sort of get the vibe that, when it came to Geoff and Jeff falling in love with him, the main thing that Jeff appreciated about him was Geoff’s unconditional love - and, from that, the ability to just feel comfortable and ‘soft’ around him. To dance and be snarky and sappy and lovey-dovey without ever being judged for it.
You truly feel like these two are ride-or-die for each other, even when they might not always be on the same page… which brings us to the Dana Synder-voiced blue blob in the room.
While these two aren’t really shown bickering or arguing at all, any time there IS any sort of tension, it usually involves Scratch - which makes sense, given that he and Jeff didn’t exactly start off on the right foot. Sometimes they’re able to work together fine and be friendly enough with each other, and other times Jeff is understandably annoyed or frustrated by Scratch’s antics.
As for Geoff, it’s made very clear that he’s the type of guy who holds friendly and platonic relationships with just as much importance as romantic ones - which, as an ace/aro person, I can definitely appreciate. This does cause him to be more than a little forgiving towards Scratch’s follies - but while he won’t go so far as to let Jeff call Scratch the “worst chairman ever”, he also won’t force Jeff to hide his feelings/not call Scratch out or take back his other less-than-nice comments regarding Scratch and seems to understand and accept that his partner doesn’t necessarily hold Scratch in as high regard as he does.
In that sense, it almost feels like a typical sitcom dynamic where one character is constantly getting into little squabbles with their spouse’s friend or family member - but in this case, Geoff thankfully never tries to force the two of them to constantly get along, being fine with their dynamic as is while, naturally, still being thrilled when Jeff and Scratch DO improve their relationship.
Really, the only time where Geoff maaaaaybe went a bit too far regarding Scratch was when, after he and Jeff were captured by the Chens in the halloween episode, he told Molly that they were fine and to go save “his precious Scratch” instead, with this leading to Jeff saying how they needed to have a talk about Geoff’s obsession with him.
In Geoff’s defense, Scratch was all alone and the Jeoffs at least had each other, plus the Chens were distracted at the time, meaning that they weren’t in immediate danger while Scratch potentially was. I should also mention that while the line itself is more of a quick joke than anything else, I do appreciate it sort of hinting at the Jeoffs being good communicators who are willing to actually talk things out whenever they have a disagreement or concern with one another.
It’s a small thing, but given how many fictional long-term couples we’ve seen bottle things up, miscommunicate constantly and argue nearly half the time they’re on screen to the point of their relationship consistently being on the rocks, it’s nice to see a more healthy and realistic dynamic between an older couple - because hey, you don’t make it to your 100th year anniversary without knowing how to properly communicate with your partner.
I’m also glad that while Jeff and Scratch had their own sort of tensions between them, Jeff was never shown being jealous, possessive or insecure about Geoff being friends with or being affectionate with Scratch. Sure, he called his partner out for putting Scratch’s safety above his/their own - which I’d say is fairly reasonable, even if I can also understand Geoff’s side - and I’m sure he didn’t fully get WHY exactly Geoff cared about Scratch so much given how much of a jerk and nuisance Scratch could be, but he never went so far as to tell Geoff he couldn’t be friends with Scratch, leading to Jeff himself eventually warm up to the little guy by the end of “Jinx VS the Human World” after Scratch made up for his big mistake, which was admittedly really nice to see.
All in all, the relationship between the Jeoffs is cute, wholesome, healthy and just really enjoyable to watch whenever it comes up. Both characters are not only great as a pair but also great on their own. Even if we don’t know every little detail about their relationship and history together, it’s made clear over and over again following Jeff’s introduction that these two are still incredibly in love with each other and there are plenty of reasons why this is both clearly-shown and implied.
In terms of LGBTQ+ rep and especially mlm rep, I’d say they’re a really great example! The Jeoffs aren’t just tokens nor do they rely on cliches. They’re fully fleshed out characters that work just as well together as they do apart, assuring that they aren’t defined by just their relationship, and they’re actually shown helping out or participating in the plot in certain episodes instead of just being stuck in the background. They have their jokes, sure, but the relationship is never only used for comedy relief, and while it’s a shame that we never got more than one kiss between them, it’s still great seeing just how physically, emotionally and verbally affectionate they are with each other, proudly making their love for one another clear as day. They’re literally shown being each other’s joy during the “Give Them Joy” song - you can’t get much more blatant than that!
Tumblr media
In a show full of just amazing relationships - whether they be based on friendship, familial ties, found family, or romance - I’m just so satisfied that one of the main pairs regarding the latter category got to be Geoff and Jeff. So kudos to the TGAMM crew for doing just an absolutely fantastic job with these two.

PLAY NICE OR GO FUCK YOURSELF
Y/n could feel the headache coming on as she walked down the sidewalk. Daishou and Kyoutani were arguing over something or another. She didn’t bother to waste her time trying to figure it out. Thankfully, Atsumu had picked up Boba, so the caffeine was helping. “Bunny, for the love of god, what have you been doing around here.” Daishou huffed, matching his stride with her own. Y/n merely chose to ignore him in favor of taking in the scenery.
The weather was nice, and it was fall. Everything was transitioning from Halloween to the next season, and Y/n had grown to enjoy the hustle and bustle of her little city life. “Maybe moving here was a bad idea after all.” Daishou grunted, causing the woman to roll her eyes. “You’re just being grumpy. We’re almost there so chill out.” She grunted around her straw, taking a harsh suck through it in annoyance. The man only snorted, rolling his eyes slightly.
Steadily making their way to their destination, Daishou was ready to make another comment, when he recognized a familiar hairstyle through the window. “What the fuck is he doing here?” Daishou sneered, glaring at his sworn enemy. Y/n looked between Daishou and the window, noticing Kuroo inside talking to Hajime. “That’s Tetsuro, he’s a part of my friend group here.” She supplied, reaching for the door. “Bunny no, you never said anything about making friends with the likes of him.” Daishou hissed reaching for her hand. “I told you that I made friends with a barista that works at my favorite cafe Dai, what the hell is your problem.” She snarked, glaring up at him.
The restaurant door opened to Kuroo, giving Daishou a salaciously maniacal grin. “Long time no see Suguru.” he cooed, flitting his fingers in front of the other mans face. “Do you two know each other?” Y/n asked, looking between both men. “Sure do princess, goes all the way back to primary.” Kuroo supplied, reaching out for her hand. Daishou stepped forward, ready to snatch it away, but Y/n was quicker. “Suguru Daishou, what the hell is wrong with you?” Y/n hissed, turning to glare up at him. “Nothings wrong with me bunny, he’s just a slimy piece of shit. I’ve told you our whole lives how shitty he is.” The man scoffed, crossing his arms over his chest. “You are a grown ass man, and far be it from me to forget all the times you bitched and complained about some guy you never named.” Y/n snarled.
“If you don’t want to join us, you can always leave.” Kuroo supplied an easy going smile on his face. The rest of their friends were already seated inside, giving the trio the space to handle the situation. “Maybe that’s for the best.” Daishou grunted, moving to grab Y/n. “We can go somewhere else bunny.” He mumbled, tugging on her arm. “No.” Y/n hissed, taking her arm back. “I told you that I wanted to eat with my friends. I had already made those plans, and I refuse to bow down to your childish whims because you want to be a jerk.” She shouted, shaking her boba everywhere. “I invited you here, so you can get to know the people that have been taking care of me since I left that shithole you call home. So pull your head out of your fucking ass, or go.” She screamed, making her way inside.
-lunch was a very, very tense affair. It resulted in Kuroo and Daishou throwing barbs back and forth. Y/n garnering the headache of her life dealing with it, and it ended with Daishou storming out because Y/n didn’t want to spend any alone time together after.
-in all honestly, Y/n regrets inviting the man to lunch in the first place. She’s reflected over her time away that Daishou really is a very toxic person, and she’s starting to see WHY her friends always get up in arms whenever he comes around.
the next chapter will be based a week later, with the arrival of Daishou’s main squeeze (DUN DUN DUN)
