There is absolutely no relationship between Aegon and acorns. This is because "acorn" is the English translation the Common Tongue term. The Common Tongue isn't English: It's rendered in English. This is made clear in the books. It would be an astronomical coincidence if the Common Tongue term for "acorn" actually sounded like the English word "acorn"—and, so help me, if I ever get the chance to create the Common Tongue, I'll make double sure of it. The word for "acorn" will be butbut, or something. Skwülpf. Pshuni. Otoutumatalapolapiadaksiuki. You have doomed the Common Tongue word for "acorn" with your tomfoolery. It will be the worst word ever created now. Be it on your head!

- WLW

- A sort of cosy high fantasy with a dash of horror

- Black cat nerd x golden retriever jock

- An isolated character dragged kicking and screaming into a found family

- Mysterious monsters

- Protag is a wizard accountant who DOES NOT wish to go on an adventure, and yet

- Primarily female and enby cast

- Somewhat DND style adventure (a wizard, two barbarians, and a cleric walk into a haunted forest... Protag is fairly certain she IS the punchline somehow)

- Awkward but fluffy romance

- Protag is a bit cringefail, but we love her for it

- A bit of a discworld/Terry Pratchett influence

- A bit of a TJ Klune influence

- ~45,000+ words right now, I think this one will be on the shorter side

- Currently working on the sequel as well, because I have no self control and I got excited

Taking her lightly under the arms, he lifted her and seated her on a rounded rock beside the stream. Then he sat on the ground facing her, legs crossed beneath him, their faces finally at a height.

“No,” he said.

“Is that the only word you know?” she asked him.

Drogo did not reply.

My favourite part of Halsin's speech pattern are the deliberate pauses he takes when attempting to search for a word or phrase, but especially when you know he's doing the work to consider what he really wants to say, and then decide how to phrase that thing as delicately as he possibly can.

Afterward she could not say how far or how long they had ridden, but it was full dark when they stopped at a grassy place beside a small stream.

Drogo swung off his horse and lifted her down from hers. She felt as fragile as glass in his hands, her limbs as weak as water.

She stood there helpless and trembling in her wedding silks while he secured the horses, and when he turned to look at her, she began to cry.

Khal Drogo stared at her, his face strangely empty of expression. “No,” he said. He lifted his hand rubbed away the tears roughly with a callused thumb.

“You speak the Common Tongue,” Dany said in wonder.

“No,” he said again.

Perhaps he had only that word, she thought, but it was one word more than she had known he had, and somehow it made her feel a little better.

Drogo touched her hair lightly, sliding the silver-blond strands between his fingers and murmuring softly in Dothraki. Dany did not understand the words, yet there was warmth in the tone, a tenderness she had never expected from this man.
