On the way back from shooting the camp kommandant, Lieb drives, Web sits in the passenger seat, and Skinny's in the back. I'd love to hear any thoughts you have on this seating arrangement.
Interesting question. Very interesting question.
This might get kind of plate-of-corn, but hey, we’re gonna analyze every angle. It’s a 23-year-old TV series so it’s bound to happen.
So, it’s interesting first to see how they arrive at the Kommandant’s house, with Skinny driving, Joe in the passenger seat, and Web in the back.
Tumblr media
Web has obviously been dragged along on this mission (“Lieb, I fucking hate this”) and his seat in the back of the Jeep reflects his submissive position, seeing as he’s allowed himself to be involved in a situation he wants nothing to do with. How Joe convinced Web to come, who knows (I assume it was Joe who asked him because he’s the one taking charge in this scene). Web seems very reluctant about the whole thing and doesn’t know any of the details of what’s been ordered (“Does Major Winters know about this?”). So it’s honestly strange that he’s even there. Why does Joe want him to tag along when he’s just making a fuss and likely going to hinder the mission? That could probably be a whole separate post, but I digress. Anyway, Skinny is the ranking non-com in this situation while Joe is a T-5 and Web is a PFC, so their seats in the Jeep initially reflect this hierarchy. Maybe that’s why Skinny was initially driving. Who knows, but you could make that argument. Skinny is very quiet throughout the whole scene and just hangs back while Web and Joe argue, which other people have pointed out is very funny because he could pull rank on them if he wanted to. He’s a sergeant, yet he just sits back and does nothing.
Anyway, we all know what happens. They enter the house. Joe interrogates the Kommandant while Skinny and Web check the place out to make sure everything is safe, then Web leaves, uncomfortable with the whole thing and probably not wanting to be an accessory to murder (I’ve written some meta about what I think his motivations might have been). Skinny comes out, says the guy is guilty, then Joe’s weapon misfires or something along those lines. The Kommandant is injured in the neck (interesting, I always think, because Joe was injured in the neck in Holland. The Kommandant’s wound is on the opposite side though. If we really want to get plate-of-corn we could say it represents the opposing sides of the war, yet the fact that all men bleed the same). He flees, Joe’s gun is jammed and he asks Web to shoot him. Web defiantly says no. Skinny does the honours despite being the most passive participant in the situation, which I think is very interesting.
Now, onto your actual question. Joe is now driving, which you could read as him having gotten what he wanted out of the situation (the Kommandant is dead) and holding onto this dominant position in the scene (side note: it also just makes me think about him driving his cab). And then Web is in the passenger side, still a tagalong in this situation he didn’t even want to be in. However, and maybe this is a stretch, but it’s almost like he’s levelled up by sticking to his guns and defying Joe. Although Joe is driving, Web and Joe are side by side now, and it makes me feel like these are men of equal stature, at least compared to the seating arrangement before. Before, Web was submissive, but now Web has risen to Joe’s level of independence and personhood by making his own choices. And then Skinny, the one who actually pulled the trigger, is relegated to the back. I don’t exactly know how to put this into words but it’s almost like he was just the conduit and he’s not really important, that the death of the Kommandant was futile and who did the killing doesn’t really matter. The focus is on Web and Joe’s relationship.
Tumblr media
Interestingly, Web looks ahead the whole time, still quite defiant, but Joe looks over at Web after he says “The war’s over, anyone would run.” To me, it’s almost a moment where Joe is considering Web’s point of view, if not agreeing with it then at least thinking about it. He’s looking at him, he’s trying to understand. I think he’s obviously very hurt. It’s the one time he asks Web for something and Web denies him. Web is never there when Joe needs him to be, and Joe probably feels abandoned all over again, but I also think deep down there’s this begrudging acknowledgement that Web has principles, that he’s his own man. Like Joe, he doesn’t answer to anybody. They’re very different people, but there is a sameness in those differences. They’re tethered. They’re mirrors.
Tumblr media
Alternatively, though, this is just the most convenient blocking for the scene, but anything can have meaning if you want it to, so this is what I came up with.

If You Need To Be Mean (a Ross Gaines x Joseph Lisgoe fanfic)
Yes, this is named after the Mitski lyric. No, it's not a songfic. I Don't Smoke is just Gainsgoe-coded and it fit this fic
Essentially, Joseph is hard on himself and Ross does what he always does - looks for a solution. But things won't be easy this time
CONTENT WARNING: Brief description of blood, themes of suicidal thoughts
"Fucking idiot!"
Ross jumped slightly at the sharp yell upstairs, nearly spilling hot coffee over himself in the process
His partner had been in a foul mood all day, probably thanks to the morons he worked with, and now he'd isolated himself in the bedroom to work on a few things. Ross knew that Lisgoe preferred to be left alone when he was busy (and annoyed), so he stayed downstairs with one of his favourite books
It wasn't long before he heard Lisgoe's voice shouting. Not at him, not even to him. Ross knew him well enough to know who the remarks were aimed at
Thud. Thud. Thudthudthudthudthudthud
It sounded like something was being hit. Maybe a desk. Maybe a wall
Then silence, as if he were looking at what he'd done
Then there was the sound of pacing
Completely confused by this string of events, Ross put his coffee and book down before heading upstairs
As he got closer to the shut door of their room, the angered muttering of his partner could be heard slightly clearer
"Now look what you've fucking done. Shit. Fucking look at it. What the fuck now? What now? Stupid twat!"
Ross gently held onto the handle, listening to the hushed sound until he felt it right to speak
"Joseph? What's going on?"
No answer
"I'm fine."
This didn't answer Ross' question. He opened the door and went to speak
What he saw effectively silenced him
Lisgoe's knuckles had cracked- no, they'd split open entirely, and blood was oozing out of them onto the floor in large puddles. Since he'd been pacing, red patches were now stretched across the wood flooring, which matched the large spatterings of blood on the desk - where he must've been hitting. His laptop, with a weekly report on it, was also covered
Ross didn't need to ask what happened. It was perfectly clear, he just had one question. A question spoken in a tone that was level, despite the layer of disbelief bubbling through:
"Why?"
No answer
"What? Was berating yourself like a lunatic not enough?" He started to get more irritated by the silence "Had to beat yourself up too?"
Nothing
"Answer me, Joseph."
"Why does it matter?" Was the agitated reply "How many times have I come home beaten to fuck? You should be used to this."
"This is different." Ross went over to him "This is clearly different, how do you not see that?"
"Oh, fuck off-"
"Sit down." This time, Ross' voice was sharp and demanding, like a teacher talking to a troublesome student "Now."
For a few seconds, Lisgoe looked as though he may have replied, but he let out an exasperated puff and sat on the edge of their bed
Ross took this opportunity to head downstairs, returning with a medi-kit and blue roll
"For fuck sake..." Lisgoe muttered as soon as he saw the apparatus "Is this necessa-"
"Don't talk."
To say Ross was angry would be putting it lightly. Seeing his partner with serious injuries was bad enough, but when they were self-inflicted? And out of petty rage? It was even worse. He didn't say a word as he sat beside him, cleaning and dressing he wound. He didn't even look Lisgoe in the eyes
"Are you gonna fucking ignore me forever now?"
That finally got a look, more of a glare, from Ross
"If it's pissing you off so much, let me do it."
"I've done it now."
"Then fuck off."
"I'm not leaving until you tell me why-"
"I was pissed. Everything's gone wrong and I needed an outlet."
"You're always in a pissy mood," Ross snapped "you've never done this. What happened today?"
"Give it a fucking rest! Maybe something did happen, who gives a fuck? Worse things have happened to better people."
That was an odd statement for Lisgoe to make
Ross just looked at him with a blank expression, willing him to go on
"Come on, of all the people in this town, I deserve it the most."
"Was it Hammonds again?"
Lisgoe's boss, Hammonds, never got on with him. He was a man with 10x Lisgoe's aggression and need for control, with less of his honesty. Needless to say, they'd had several issues
"He's part of it." Lisgoe's voice was gravelly and distant as he stared at the blood on the floor, as if he were convincing himself there was nothing wrong "So was the asshole I had to visit - 6 fucking months and he'd not paid a penny owed! Then there was the dickhead in the street."
"What happened with the-"
"I was spat at, Ross." Lisgoe snapped "I was fucking spat at. Because I'm a bastard. And I fully fucking deserve it!"
Lisgoe looked at Ross and, his voice gaining clarity, continued:
"Here's something people are too scared to tell you." He spoke with complete conviction in what he was saying "Some people just shouldn't be on this fucking planet. And believe me, I know I'm one of them."
He didn't show it on his face, but hearing those words fall so easily from his partner's mouth caused a sting he could almost hear the rip of. His chest tightened and everything felt like it was weighing down on him
Suddenly, a thought came into his head. Some form of a solution:
"Be mean to me."
"... What?"
"Everytime you think of being mean to yourself," his voice was calm, as if delivering the answer to a mathematical equation "direct it towards me."
"Ross, I'm not doing that."
"I can handle it. Can't be worse than Pauline."
"No, Ross-"
"Why not? You're clearly angry. Just direct it at me. It's easy. I won't take it personally, it's just words to me."
Lisgoe looked away, as if he were ashamed of himself
In response, Ross held up his bandaged hand
"If this is the only other option, I'd rather you took your anger out on me."
Silence
Thick, heavy silence
Ross was getting impatient
"Joseph, for god sake, I can handle it. After the verbal abuse I faced with Pauline, there's nothing that could phase me-"
"No."
His voice came out level, unreadable. It took Ross aback slightly
"Why?"
"I'm just not fucking doing it. It's no big deal."
"This happens everytime something goes wrong," Ross explained calmly "you get angry at yourself. Well, just direct it to me. Just this once, I want you to hurt me the way you hurt yourself."
There was no answer. No argument, no pointed comment, not even a look in his direction
"It can't be that difficult-"
"Of course it's fucking difficult, and you know exactly why."
"No, actually, I don't."
Lisgoe finally looked in his direction in a swift, sharp motion
"It's the same reason I haven't offed myself yet."
"Don't say that, Joseph."
"Why? Why should I pussyfoot around it? Why can't I just say it like it is? Yeah, sometimes I want things to end. But I haven't done anything, so it's no big deal."
"I don't think you understand how big of a deal it is. It's just hard for me to-"
"Is that right?" Lisgoe sneered, jumping to his feet "Then please enlighten me, Ross. Tell me how all of this is so hard on you. Tell me how having to see me like this is so fucking difficult for you. Yeah, I bet you're the only one finding this hard! You have to hear about it, and all I have to do is have it in my fucking head everyday!"
There was a brief moment where all you could hear was a pin drop. That, and the buzzing sense of heaviness looming over both of them
"I can acknowledge you're hurting and still not want you to leave, Joseph."
"Ross," it was obvious, how exhausted and frustrated Lisgoe was, by his voice "I told you I'm not going through with it."
"And how do I know that?"
"Are you that thick? Do I need to spell it out for you with building blocks?"
"I just want a straight answer-"
"I love you, you stupid fucking shite!"
Neither of then expected those words to come out the mouth of Joseph Nigel Lisgoe
As he continued, his voice was coarse and gravelly
"There. There it fucking is. Your explanation, what everything boils down to." Everything spilled out despite Lisgoe trying scoop it all back in. The more he tried, the more of a mess it made "My life is a chaotic melding pot of shite, the only thing that offers any kind of stability is you. And it's so... I don't fucking know! It's nauseating, to rely on someone for something like that, but it's fine. Couldn't give less of a shite."
Ross sat there in complete silence. Not a word dared to bubble in his chest, let alone pass his lips
"If I had to live without you, I could." Lisgoe continued"I don't need you to survive, this isn't some shitey romantic drama. I could live without you, but it wouldn't be the same. I..." the walls came up, mostly out of shame "Forget it. It means nothing-"
"What is it, Joseph?"
Once again, no answer. In a surprising moment of tenderness, Ross stood up and placed a hand on his partner's shoulder. He could feel it contract, then relax slowly. That silent gesture spoke all the words they needed
They looked at each other, and it was like they could see into the other's head. Perhaps that was why Ross could feel his eyes losing their dryness. Not wanting his partner to see him like that, he closed the gap between them and his arms, somehow, found their way around him
None of this was normal. This type of contact, this type of atmosphere, it just wasn't who they were. They were fire, competition and tension. It was a set-up that amused them and set them alight. But this was like the earth. Grounding, strong and weighted, but subtle. Like the feeling of finding shelter from a stormy walk home. Weary feet and restless minds, just for a moment, are able to rest. It may not have been a permanent solution to what was going on in Lisgoe's mind, but it was something satiable. Something stable. It was something
"Ross."
Silence
There was a sniffle, then a moment that sounded like Lisgoe was going to speak. But nothing
Something wet on Ross' skin, he didn't draw attention to it
"Joseph?"
More silence
"Fuck sake..."
"What is it?"
"... I just realised what this is."
"What do you mean?"
"This. How I feel."
Ross gave him time
"It's fucking fear."
An exhale
A shaky chuckle at the irony
Another sniffle
"Ross, I'm scared."
The entire conversation flashed through Ross' head in that moment. The blood. The anger. What Lisgoe said
"Some people shouldn't be on this fucking planet. And believe me, I know I'm one of them."
"Me too."
They stayed there for a length of time they couldn't quite decipher, the walls they'd built started to disappear. It didn't feel like crumbling or breaking, but rather a simple evaporation
"You should probably know something, Joseph."
"What?"
A pause
"I love you too."
"Don't get fucking sappy." Humour coloured his tone
"You said it first."
"Don't bring it up!"
They laughed, despite the situation, which simultaneously felt like relief and rebellion. After a considerable pause, it was Lisgoe that spoke
"What happens now?"
Ross dealt with logic, he always had. No matter what the problem was, he always found a solution that would, eventually, lead him back to the right track. It was like a skill, a way for him to navigate even the toughest situations
Which is why he just said nothing, let the silence become their own personal safety net
Because that was how he delt with answering Lisgoe's question
His reasoning was simple: he didn't want to
The reason for that was painfully easy to understand:
He didn't know the answer

FINDING YOU Chapter 3
Tumblr media
Summary: You're in a relationship with Steve Rogers, but his best friend just always seems to be around!
Word Count: 2.7K
Warnings: smut, mention of mild anxiety
MASTERLIST
CHAPTER 3
“Morning sunshine!”
“Morning!” Steve gave you a sleepy smile.
“Excited for today?” you asked as you sat up, eyes bright with excitement of your own.
“Maybe a tad nervous,” Steve admitted as swung his legs over the edge of his side of the bed. He was facing away from you as he carried on speaking. “Surprises sometimes have a way of getting a bit out of hand in my experience.”
Your face fell and you felt speechless. After a few moments, you regained your ability to speak. “I'm sorry, I- why didn't you say anything before?”
“You looked so happy, I didn't want to ruin it for you.” He turned his head in your direction, but didn’t quite make eye contact.
“Steve,” you crawled over to his side. “I appreciate that, but I wanted to do something nice for you! I need you to be honest with me. Even if it does hurt my feelings. Especially if something is making you uncomfortable.”
“Sorry.”
“You can talk to me. I need you to talk to me.”
Steve nodded. He didn’t want to make you feel bad about yourself.
“I think, maybe, that you're so used to keeping things to yourself, that this is hard for you. Is that right?” you asked, tilting your head to the side, trying to make a connection.
“I'm trying.” He sounded a little dejected, still not meeting your eyes.
“I know.” You smiled reassuringly. “You want me to tell you the plan?”
He slipped his hand into yours and looked at you. “Please.”
You suddenly felt nervous. You'd made a huge deal of this surprise gift, what if he didnt like it?
“I got us tickets to the baseball game at Citi Field. It's the Yankees versus Phillies. I know it's not your baseball team, and I didn't think LA was your scene.” At this point it was your anxiety talking. “I hope you don't mind this, but Bucky said you liked baseball, and I thought you probably hadn't had time to do anything for yourself, and I wanted to-"
Steve's lips on yours stopped you prattling on further.
“Ace, that sounds incredible,” he smiled. “I can’t believe you’ve done this for me.”
It was the first time anyone had done something like this for him. Steve had always been the type of man who had done things for others. It was rare for people to return the favor. He wasn't quite used to the feeling of being taken care of by anyone other than Bucky.
“Of course. I love you Steve.”
“And I love you.”
You were grinning like a lunatic. It was the first time Steve had used the phrase ‘I love you’ rather than phrases like ‘me too.’
“You deserve nothing but the best, Steve.” You wrapped your arms around his neck and kissed his temple.
“What time does the game start?”
“It’s this evening. I thought we could go for a walk, grab some food before the game?”
“And when during that schedule do I get to thank you for such a great gift?” Steve raised his eyebrow seductively.
He traced the outline of your lips, grazing the grooves first with his forefinger, but as you closed your eyes to enjoy the sweet sensation, the texture of his contact changed.
Tantalizingly, his lips danced the tango with yours. Tilting your head back and lifting your jaw, you reached forward longingly, craving the taste of his tongue. Except that his mouth was just out of reach, guarded by this handsome and slightly pointed nose. Every step you took to claim his lips was countered gracefully with the nuzzle of his nose against yours.
Unable to satisfy your craving, you opened your eyes to glare into those cerulean orbs, which you knew would stoke the fire that was already raging inside of you. His eyes were wide open, pupils dilated, waiting to meet your gaze, filled with mirth and lust.
“You know it drives me nuts when you tease me like this.”
His lips turned upwards into a smirk at your words. "I can do this all day."
His thumb stroked the notch of your clavicle tenderly, his fingers working their way across your shoulder, slipping off the thin strap of your tank top. For every motion his fingers made, his eyes never left yours, his attention never waning, even when they brushed your nipple, making you gasp and lean into his chest. His hand lingered on your bosom, as the other explored the remainder of your body, roaming over your arm, across your stomach, stroking your thighs. Up and down, his hand glided over your frame, every caress did nothing but ignite an insatiable yearning, a longing to be filled.
Each seductive slide, the occasional tantalizing twirl, he edged closer to satisfying your ever increasing desire but never quite giving you the relief you craved. Releasing you from his embrace, Steve lowered you down onto the pillows behind you, stopping for a moment, only to gently brush the stray strand of hair from your face and give you an adoring smile before returning to his administrations. His mouth left a blazing trail of kisses from your jaw, down your chest and belly, stopping short of giving you any real pleasure, only adding fuel to the tempestuous flame that raged at your core.
The base of his palm nestled itself on your pubic symphysis as comfortably as though it was made to be there. The pressure applied by his digits made you whimper longingly, each push at the fabric of your underwear made you buck your hips wantonly with the smallest of hopes that he would give you the release you desired.
Keeping his hand hovering over the wetness permeating your panties, he placed a hand between your thighs, pulling them apart, splaying your legs, making a great show of his microscopic examination of your personal anatomy.
Finally you could no longer take the agonizing wait for your own gratification, the words burst from your mouth without thought or control, “Steve please, could you just fuck me already?”
“Gladly,” he growled, although you could barely hear him over the blood coursing through your vessels.
Pushing aside the small strip of material covering your soaked slit, he slid his fingers between your folds, sending a burst of ecstacy spiraling through to your fingertips. Ever so slowly he parted your lips, lowering himself between them.
You held your breath in anticipation of what you knew was coming, his eyes told you exactly what he intended. Despite the promise of pleasure, you weren’t prepared for the electrifying sensation that burst through you as Steve’s tongue touched your clit. This was only the first of a series of impulses, delightful, delicious, delectable, dazzling, delirious! They fired through your nervous system, sending waves of euphoria to every fiber of your being. Twirling, flicking, sucking, he devoured you with fervor.
Within minutes you felt dangerously close to coming undone, your body undulated with the rhythm of his tongue. It was a struggle to keep your eyes on him, your hands clutched at the sheets; he was certainly enjoying watching you unravel at the seams.
Just as you thought you couldn’t stand it anymore, Steve made you cry out as he slipped two fingers inside you, flexing them slightly into the shape of a hook as he dragged them in and out of your leaking center. The thrusts weren’t hard, neither were they fast, just paced, the same as the stroke of his tongue.
"Steve…" You gasped his name between pants, close to coming undone. "I want you, please."
You whined as he removed the pressure of his rough skinned digits.
“Come on, Ace. Don’t be like that. I need a minute.”
You sighed dramatically, but propped yourself up on your elbows so you could enjoy the show.
“Take off your sweats, Cap.” You smirked cheekily.
“What happened to your patience, Doctor?”
“I lost it when you stopped touching me.”
Steve gave you a pitying look before standing up and dropped his boxers and sweatpants with one quick movement.
“Come sit here with me,” you patted the space between your legs. “Let me help you.”
Lowering your head, you took him into your mouth, warm and soft, you took a moment to savor his taste. You hummed with appreciation. Your tongue flickered and danced around the tip and instantly you felt him swelling and growing hard for you, his cock filling your mouth with every lick. It wasn’t an easy feat, your jaw was stretched to the max to accommodate his girth.
You pulled back slightly as the head of his cock started to push against the back of your throat. He groaned. The sound excited you, his body was coming alive for your mouth.
“Mmmm Ace, this is supposed to be about you.” He moaned as you worked your tongue over his frenulum.
You removed your mouth briefly to mumble at him. “This is very much for me.”  You savored the taste of pre-cum seeped into your mouth. Steve arched his back, eyes rolling backwards with pleasure.
Your free hand curled around his now rock hard member, with a loose grip, you gently moved your hand up and down encouraging the flow of more pre-cum from his tip to lubricate your actions and elicit the most ungodly sounds from your boyfriend.
Hearing Steve groaning so obscenely sent a tingle through your clit. After a pause, you tilted your head to take him further into your mouth, bobbing up and down with ease. His fingers mingled with your luscious locks as he guided your head gently as he tried not to trust too deeply into your throat. Steve knew you couldn’t take him in completely and that he had to take care to not get too carried away in his bliss.
It was only when he started whimpering that you came completely undone. You removed your mouth from his cock, “Steve, I can’t wait any longer… I want you.”
Steve didn’t move, his were eyes closed and he was breathing hard
“Steve-” you whined. “Please, I need you. Touch me.”
He opened his eyes, pupils dark and blown. “Turn around,” he growled carnally.
The sound alone might have made you come right there, but Steve wasn’t done with you. He guided you onto your knees and your hands gripped the bed frame for support. You complied but his erection pressed against you was more than you could bear. His cock rested comfortably between your thighs, eagerly twitching, ready for action. Your dripping wet pussy literally begged for it.
Steve tugged your panties aside, the only thing keeping him from entering you. “Is this ok?”
“Oh God, yes,” you exclaimed. At any other time, you may have been ashamed of your wanton cries, but right now you couldn’t care less. All you wanted was to feel Steve pushing into you, filling you up, making you pulse with pleasure around him in that way that no one else could compare.
At what felt like an excruciating slow pace, Steve stroked your slit with his tip, collecting the succulent elixir that you had made, just for him. As he touched your clit, you shuddered deeply and gasped. You closed your eyes and focused on the ecstatic sensations that shot through your body as your opening stretched in receipt of his cock.
It was a good thing you were holding on to the sturdy frame because your legs felt like jelly and would give way at any moment. As if Steve could hear your thoughts, he curled his fingers around your hips, the tips pressed into your flesh salaciously.
“Steve! I want you inside me, give me all of you.”
“I hope you’re ready for this, because I know I am,” Steve purred.
He certainly was. He didn’t hesitate in plunging himself further into you like sheathing a sword to its hilt. The force made you gasp with pain and surprise and the grimace on your face didn’t go unnoticed. Steve bent forwards, his abdomen pressed against your back and asked, “too much?”
“Little too fast,” you answered. “I may have been a little too hasty about what I asked for.”
His new position had relieved some of the pressure and you felt a lot more comfortable and ready for him to try again. Steve’s breath was hot on your back and the wave of pain was now ebbing away, replaced by your impatient longing.
“Let’s try something different, shall we?”
His fingers crept around you until he found your clit. He encouraged you to spread your legs by nudging your knees apart. Slowly, his digits strike up a steady pace rhythm of slow movements, starting below and dragging up again and again, until your tiny nub was flushed and firm under his finger and your juices started leaking out around him.
Not until your hips start undulating did Steve try pushing back inside you. You had to admire his self control as he made you unravel with the smallest flick of his finger.
“If you keep fingering me like that, this is going to be over before you get the chance to have any fun.”
“Watching you cum is extremely fun for me.”
“You feel so delicious inside me, I want you to fuck me with your cock.”
Steve was only too happy to oblige. Proceeding with caution, he pushed slowly until he was fully inside you. A burning sensation radiated through you as you stretched to let him in.
“How does that feel?” he asked slightly apprehensively.
“Exquisite!” you sighed.
You shifted to make yourself comfortable before Steve pulled out slowly, leaving you feeling empty inside. But you didn’t have to wait long before he was thrusting back half inside you, making you gasp and moan. It was almost too much for Steve, he was already struggling to control himself but he held back, wanting to give you as much pleasure as possible for as long as possible. In and out, he moved further with each thrust until he was sliding all the way into you, hands roaming over your exposed back.
“Steve. Steve…” you murmured.
“Ace, a little louder for those of us in the back?”
“Does it turn you on?” you smiled.
“You’ll be screaming my name soon enough,” he growled, one of those rare times where he gave in to his primal urges. He rutted against you sharply in an unexpected rhythm.
You laughed, “you’re going to have to do better than tha-ahh,” you struggled to complete your answer as he slipped one hand between your thighs.
“Come on,” he coaxed you by edging his fingers up your leg.
“Make me cum Captain.”
“On one condition.”
“Name. It.”
“You know what I want, Ace? Let me give you a taste of what you want.” Devilishly, your boyfriend slipped his hand between your folds and gave your throbbing clit a few small flicks.
“Ste-ahhhh.”
“That’s right Ace, just a little more,” he grunted, starting to come undone himself. “Just. A. Little. More.”
“Just a little more, Steve!”
You pushed down against the hand he had clamped over your clit as he pounded against you mercilessly, all speech forgotten. Both of you panted and pumped away each chasing your release.
There it was, that all too familiar knot at the bottom of your stomach. It spread through you like lightning, permeating every fiber of your being. “Steve, oh Steve, I’m-” you cried out.
Your walls fluttered around him pushing him to the brink of ecstasy. His thrusts became more and more erratic as you tightened around him. The waves of pleasure had your arms tense, pushing back against him, your whole body shaking. “Steve!”
The sound of you screaming his name in euphoria was what made him pulse inside you. Arching his back, Steve spilled his hot milky load into you. He massaged the small bundle of nerves to reach your zenith, making you convulse in bliss as your orgasm finally hit, like a tidal wave, strong with its first impact but spreading far and wide, filling every nook and every cranny in its fluidity.  He continued to milk you through your climax, until the tide ebbed away, leaving you lying on the beach of paradise.
Needless to say, he looked rather proud of himself, as he flopped down on the bed. You collapsed beside him, reeling from the intense waves of pleasure you’d just experienced.
“Hey, Ace?” Steve whispered.
“Yeah?”
He nuzzled your ear gently. “I know I don't say this enough. I love you. You know that, right?”
You smiled, wrapped in the warmth of his strong arms. “Yeah.”

The Smell of Plum Blossom Tea Ch 17
Summary: Just like a butterfly wing, a single act of kindness can change the course of the future, it certainly did for MK as a black furred monkey put out a hand towards him.

Chapter 17: Can You Feel The Love Tonight~
“Pass some of that Okra.”
“Here you go.”
“Why is this so spicy?!”
“Well it is the spicy plate, if you can’t handle the heat then you should have gotten the other plate.”
“No, just this one specifically is damn spicy!”
“Red made some of them.”
“It’s not my fault that your taste isn’t refined enough.”
“Come over here and say that!”
“No fighting at the table,” Macaque said as he watched Bohai try to stand up from his seat, while Red was smirking at him.
“Won’t be much of a fight,” the demon prince mocked.
“You little-” his mouth was then stuffed with green beans.
“Just eat some veggies and calm yourself,” Sheng cracked a grin as they put some green beans in their mouth.
The jellyfish demon moodily just chewed on his food in silence.
“Children, all of them,” Mei said as she set down the bowl of Okra Ahmed passed her.
“So have you heard about the rumors about Yakimoto,” Yanyu leaned into MK.
“Yakimoto? The head of the Neurology department?”
“That’s the one.”
“What about her?”
“Well recently I have heard from a friend of mine, who heard from the janitor, who had heard from a physician of that department, that he had heard that she had been having little outings with her lovely secretary of hers,” she whispered loudly.
“Wait, doesn't she have a husband?” His eyes widened.
“Yes she does, but she’s always complaining about the whole ordeal being set up as an arranged marriage by both of their parents-”
“That’s still a thing?”
“Apparently, the two see each other as siblings.”
“Really?!”
“Totally, in fact, there have been whispers that her husband also has a special man as well.”
“Shut up, tell me more,” he stuffed the Tofu in his mouth as Yanyu began to talk all about the man at the flower shop a couple of blocks down from Pigsy noodles.
“Is it always this loud,” Wukong smiled as he watched the table filled with little chaos.
“Like you wouldn’t believe it,” he said as he ate. “Just be glad this isn’t a holiday dinner then it really would be chaotic. Especially with everyone else that would join in,” he remembered last new year when they finally dragged Pigsy to close down the shop for one night to enjoy the holiday. It was a mad scene of chaos and energy as all of them were raving like mad lunatics even before the food came out, Ahmed and Sandy were barely able to stop Sheng, Daiyu, Tang, and Mei from setting off fireworks right next to some containers of peanut oil. And that was after MK and Mei had already demolished the kitchen with Yanyu siblings looking for the moon cakes.
“Everyone else?” He questioned as he noticed the slight smile on his friend's face.
“Oh don’t worry, stick around long enough and you’ll meet them face to face rather than watching them creepily from the distance” he shook himself out of memories.
The Monkey Sage paused, then he smiled widely, “I can’t wait then.”
“Okay, now can we learn how the hell you met Shun!” Mei exclaimed as everyone settled down in the living room. “Cause, I’m surprised you didn’t smell the crazy off of him at first sight.”
“It’s always the quiet ones that get you,” Daiyu muttered. “He seemed alright, but he was just hiding his batshit craziness.
“Right, I mean that just goes to show doc always had terrible taste in partners,” Yanyu nodded.
“Partners” Monkey King emphasized, “as in more than one.”
“Oh yeah, he has quite the number of people after his plump ass,” Minsheng smirked as they tried to smack Mac on the ass when he passed by him, but he winced when a black tail wrapped around his hand and flipped him over.
“No,” the simian deadpanned and was about to sit down next to Ahmed when Wukong pulled him over and sat him down beside him.
“Seems like you're quite popular then,” he joked and wrapped his arm around him.
“Not really popularity wise, but more of him simply having bad taste,” Sheng teased.
“I mean you're not wrong,” he shrugged as he sank into Wukong’s side.
“But how?!” Mei whined once more.
“Tell us!” MK soon joined her as he laid on Red lap.
“I’m quite interested to hear this as well,” the prince asked as well.
“Pleasseee,” Wukong batted his eyes
“Fine, fine, I’ll bite,” he rolled his eyes. “It’s not that interesting how we met, in fact, it was pretty normal.”
“What was it?”
“Amid a territory brawl over a section of land out in the Azurite Forest.”
“…okay I think we have two very different definitions
of normal,” Mei deadpanned.
“Probably, anyways I was sitting high in the tree watching these assholes argue-”
“I told you that past the Vivion Treeline was our territory and yet you dare go past that line and defy us!”
“Well, maybe you should have thought of that before you send your minions down and scavenge in our territory first!”
“You have no proof of any trespassing that happened!”
“Are you saying my own lies to my face?! HA! Now that’s a laugh to even think about, no I trust them long before I will even think about breathing in your direction!”
“I suppose it’s best you lay down and suffocate cause there is no way in hell that my boys lied to me!”
“Now ain’t that a lie!”
“That’s rich coming from you!”
“Sheesh, of course I would happen to stumble upon this right when I have to get some Fuchsia berries,” Macaque grumbled as he watched the argument from above. “Damn idiots.”
“I happen to agree,” Mac barely flinched when a calm voice called out and saw from the tree to the right of him was a gray lemur with a black and white striped tail. “I too have some important items that I need to procure, but these heathens happen to be in my way.”
“Only found in this forest,” the simian said.
“Unfortunately yes the Inada spiritual root is only grown here, if it was elsewhere I would have already turned back and away from this nonsense,” he scrunched his nose in distaste.
“I feel ya on that, the berries that I need happen to be for an elixir for the spiritual development of the 8th degree. One of my clients needs it after her body is close to breaking down due to her organs inability to support her fire breath,” he sighed as he looked down at the argument once more and noted that it would soon turn into an all out brawl.
“You're talking about the Firaga Restoration Elixir,” the lemur had a glint in his eyes. “Not many physicians know of that and even less have the ability to make it.”
“Made it a few times before…how about we help each other out?” He tapped his chin as an idea came to him.
“Go on.”
“Our items are pretty much in the same area, if we can sneak around and past the tree line then it would be homestretch from then on cause I am quickly picking up that most of the demons from each tribe are here.”
“Hmm, sounds adequate though do you believe to be capable enough to pass them undetected,” he turned to look at the monkey only to blink when he saw he wasn’t there anymore.
“Now where did he-”
“Is this good enough for you,” the lemur’s tail quickly shot towards the voice, but it was stopped by a hand. “Sorry, did I scare ya,” Macaque grinned as he held onto the furry tail.
The lemur blinked a few times before a smile grew, “It would appear that you have.”
“Well let’s get moving and the name is Macaque,” he let go of the tail, but the tail didn’t let go as it instead kept almost a loose grip around Mac's hand.
“I’m Shun,” the lemur purred as he stepped forward until their bodies were pressed together and he leaned down until they were nose to nose. “It will be a pleasure working with you.” And like he wasn’t even there, he quickly stepped back and began to move above the treetops of where the fight had commenced.
Macaque stood still for a brief moment before a fierce blush took over his face and he silently followed Shun. If both tree climbers happened to take glances at one another throughout the trip, no one would affirm anything.
“Like I said, horrible taste in partners,” Yanyu stated once more.
“Yeah, like you let him all up in your space and didn’t say a word, clearly bad,” Mei nodded.
“Like seriously, who would just go up and invade someone's personal bubble like that, totally rude,” MK joined in.
“You should have kicked his ass when he did that Mango, you have done it before,” Wukong said as he nonchalantly dragged him to his lap and rested his chin on Mac’s shoulder. “Don’t let anyone near you unless you want to.”
Everyone, barring Macaque and Wukong were either subtly or straight out eyeing Wukong, who was still cuddled up next to the black simian. They can practically taste the hypocrisy going on here.
“Okay I get it,” he put his hands up in mock surrender. “Don’t need to gang up on me like that.”
“So what happened after that?” MK asked.
“Well the rest is history, he began to hang around my place a lot more and next thing I knew we were going on dates with each other,” he shrugged his shoulders.
“Here’s what I don’t get,” Daiyu perked up, “did he ever ask you out?”
“Of cou-…” he stopped mid sentence as he thought it over then he furrowed his brow, “actually, now that I think about it, no. He never did. We were just eating out one day at a restaurant and proclaimed it to be a date.”
“Pops/Doc/Mango/Dude really,” Mei, Yanyu, Wukong, and Minsheng all groaned as the rabbit demon continued, “you really should have known something was up after that.”
“I really didn’t,” he rubbed the back of his head as he remembered he was taken aback by his statement but went with it as he did have a small crush on him back then.
“Just be glad you weren’t around to see Hui,” Ahmed said, receiving a wounded look from Macaque.
“Kitty, I thought you were on my side!”
“I am…just not when it comes to your choice of partners.”
“Even Mufasa here knows that she was batshit insane,” Bohai deadpanned, “nice and hilarious, but holy shit was she insane.”
“She wasn’t that-”
“Did you forget that she was a raging alcoholic scorpion that had the desire to go up to not only to the Celestial Realm and raid their alcohol supply, but to go down under all the way to Yama realm and claim the title of all the ten kings and live in luxury,” Minsheng bluntly stated.
“Just not Yama crown, because she stated that she didn’t want to do all of that work, not because it was suicidal to try to fight him,” Daiyu continued. She loves to fight as much as her siblings, but even she knew better than to pick a fight with one of the big boys on top, or in this case, down below.
“And I’m not even gonna mention that when she was in her drunken rage, she had the tendency to poison others with her tails when they stood opposed or even just breathed near her,” Bohai finished.
“…” Macaque said nothing as he just leaned closer to the other monkey, who happily complied with his actions as he further tightened his arm around him and silently rubbed his thumb on his shoulder.
“So much bad taste in partners, so much,” the bluenette put her head in her hands.
“I’m starting to see your point,” the pigtailed adult agreed as she glanced at the scene with a curious look.
“At least we don’t have to worry about that anymore, what I’m a bit curious about is how all of you guys met MK here,” Wukong tried to subtly move on from the conversation of Macaque’s romantic relationship. If he had to hear about yet another demon he dated, he might actually lose his mind.
“Oh let me!” MK eagerly began, “well I remember that I was sleeping when I heard Daiyu yell out.”
“Because of course it was her,” the bluenette said.
“And I walk into the room and-” as MK enthusiastically told the story, Wukong had quietly taken out the red rubber band holding his hair in a ponytail and gazed at the silky black fur cascaded down his back. And before he knew it, his fingers were entangled in Mac’s fluffy fur as the other simian sighed at the soft touches.
“Been a long time since you did this,” Mac purred as he relaxed into the grooming.
“Well it’s about time we pick it back up, besides no one is better at grooming than a monkey,” he purred, but he paused as he quietly had thought and delicately asked, “speaking of monkeys, do you want to visit the ones back at Flower Fruit?”
Mac's eyes widened as he almost instantly turned his head, but was stopped by hands, “Are you serious?”
“I mean they have missed you a whole lot,” he tried to nonchalantly say, “especially since they smelt you on the kid and was practically begging me to bring your ass over.”
“They are still demanding little shits huh,” he gave a small huff.
“The one thing that hasn’t changed.”
“…yeah I would like that,” he smiled up at him.
“Cool, cool,” he couldn’t stop his tail from excitedly wagging behind him, but he instead tried to stall it by looking at the fluffy fur once more as another purr came through. It’s not his fault he couldn’t stop it from emerging from his long time crush response and his fascination with his long fur.
“You really do have such a long fur, why’d you grow it out anyways, not that I’m complaining.”
“I dunno, I just forgot to cut it short and when I finally noticed I decided to just keep it,” he shrugged.
“Well I’m glad you did, it looks amazing on you,” Wukong said as he looked down to meet Macaque’s eyes and promptly realizing what he said, he quickly averted his gaze and nervously laughed, “Or you know, it looks good.”
“Ah, umm thanks,” the doctor said as he felt the faint blush on his cheeks.
The sage monkey was about to say something else when he noticed that a few eyes were on him and he quickly went back to his grooming session. While making completely sure that his eyes didn’t even go towards anywhere in their direction.
The traffic light trio saw the scene and they all shared a glance at one another, but opted to say nothing as the story continued and the two monkeys, in everyone's eyes, began to cuddle up together.
“Where is he?” Red huffed as he sat on the opposite side of Mei at one of the arcade booths. “Usually he’s the first one here.”
“I know he was helping Pigsy out with a large Party order, but that should have been done by now,” Mei shrugged as she took another sip of her drink.
“Well he should hurry it up else I will-”
“What’s up, party dudes!” An energetic voice cried out that instantly made Mei spit out her drink.
“Oh hell no!” She stood up as she grabbed her dagger and was inwardly cursing herself about leaving her sword at home, “I’m not about to deal with you a second time! Not today Satan!”
“Should I be concerned?” Red raised an eyebrow as he looked at MK, who was for some reason wearing a pink visor, blue headphones and an atrocious cheetah print outfit. “Cause this whole look right here is very concerning.”
“No need to worry hot stuff,” MK said as he wrapped an arm around his shoulder. “Not here to do any lasting damage, unless you're into that,” he winked.
“W-w-what?!” A small burst of flame erupted from his head.
“I don’t trust that for a second,” the Dragon successor hissed as she still held her dagger up.
“I swearsies doll.”
“Wha-no stay focused,” she faltered but shook it off, “That is rich coming from the disembodied attachment of my friend who can just poof in and out without consequences of your actions.”
“Disembodied?” Red, still under the clone arm, confusedly said.
“Touché,” he pointed a finger, “but for real, I’m just here to deliver a message from the big boss himself.”
“Talk,” she demanded as she slightly lowered her weapon at that.
“BB will be late due to a crazy ass bitch on the block doin her usual bitch in and be all complainin about her food order being all wrong and demanding that they hand it over for free.”
“Oh,” Mei's eyebrow raised. “Bet that didn’t go over well.”
“No it did not my lovely Empress, cause next thing they knew the bitch was calling up the rest of her posse upon BB and Big Bad Boss and now she is yellin her ass about about some scam they be tryin to pull on them all.”
“I’m starting to see where this is head,” she sheathed her blade when she said that, though she did have a light blush of confusion over the nickname.
“Your thoughts be right as the next thing anyone knows, everyone is brawling with each other so hard that even some of the people on the street just up and joined in.”
“So MK got mixed up in that, but why didn’t he just text us that,” the Bull successor asked as he finally recognized that this was a clone and not the real MK.
“Cause Triple B ordered Double B to not get the food ruined under any circumstances my sweet King so now BB is hauling ass all around the town as the Karen Gang chase after his ass,” Portay MK smirked as he saw the prince blush.
“Karen Gang,” she snorted at the nickname, “Does he need any help, cause I will be more than happy to bust a few heads for him.”
“I as well.”
“Aww ain’t the both of you just a bundle of sweetness, makes me want to give you both a big ol kiss,” he flirted once more.
“Just show us!” At this point both teenagers had either a small or large flush on their faces.
“Alright Alright, I’ll show ya,” he said as he quickly made his way out of the arcade and to the streets with them both following. “But I won’t stop~ Someone got to help Double B get the ball rollin and I guess it will have to be me. This will be so much fun,” he muttered.
“What did you say?”
“Nothing my Sugar hearts!” He smiled at their groans of embarrassment.
“Is he always like this?!”
“I met him once and that was when he had me tied up during a never ending party, which I still can’t fully remember due to all the sugar and caffeine I inhaled.”
“The WHAT?!”
“Oh yeah, that was a ride.”
“Man, it’s been a long time since I’ve been here, huh,” Macaque mused as he and MK climbed up the mountain.
“Right, you lived here before,” MK said as they climbed up the steps. “What was it like back then?”
“Honestly, at first it looks and feels the same, every time that I breathe I can still smell the crisp pine air and the heavy mineral undertones that I still smell on Monkey King,” he took a deep breath. “This place really brings back some memories.”
“Good ones?” The doctor to be said with a bit of hope as they finally reached the top.
“Yeah, good ones,” he stopped as his ears pricked up at an incoming sound. “That screech,” he whispered.
“Huh?” MK looked to his Dad, only to be bombarded with the most ear piercing noise.
SCREEEEEECCCCCCHHHHHH
Then, almost out of nowhere, a hoard of monkeys all popped out and practically flew towards the black simian.
“What the-!” MK was startled by the sudden attack and was about to step forward to his Dad only to pause at the sight of multiple monkeys, all of them screeching in delight, clinging onto him as the demon joyfully nuzzled them back.
“I missed you guys too,” he purred as he felt many cuddles underneath his chin, on his back, upon his arms, even on top of his head. He really missed these idiots.
“Awwww,” the adult cooed at the adorable sight.
“Man, that was faster than I was expecting,” the student turned and saw his mentor standing right behind him. “One moment they were playing and the next thing I know they all began to run off. I swear their smell has gotten better over these years.”
“So that’s why they could smell Dad on me that time.”
“You got it,” he finger gunned him as he walked up to the pile of monkeys. “So it seems this is one-”
“HISSSSSSS!” All the monkeys clinging onto Macaque hissed at their idiotic king.
“Yeah, I deserved that,” he deadpanned as he plopped himself onto the pile, with MK following suit. “But I promise we won’t be so stupid again.”
“Ooo oo,” a female monkey crossed her arms as she sat on the monkey doctor's head.
“King honor,” he raised his hand.
“Ooo,” she nodded and gave him a flick on the nose before snuggling back on top of the head.
“She really hasn't changed one bit,” Mac snorted at her antics.
“Nope, but she is still as bossy as ever,” he smiled and gave her a scratch on her head.
“Especially when she forced me to drink water,” MK piped up, “she literally forced it down my throat after one of the sessions. I didn’t think you could drown via water bottle, but when there's a monkey there's a way.”
“Yeah, sounds like her,” both monkeys said.
The sun was beginning to set as MK and the rest of the tribe were all playing out in the mountains in an extreme game of hide and seek. Extreme as in they all will literally yeet themself off the tallest rock just so they won’t get found, the first couple of times MK played this he had to stop his heart from trying to run out of his chest, but he slowly found himself enjoying throwing himself off like a rabid maniac. Is there something wrong with all of them? Maybe, but no one can deny that it is really fun.
“I swear, their IQ always seems to decrease when they play these games,” Mac muttered as he watched his child vault himself off of a rock just so the seeker wouldn’t catch him.
“Didn’t you think of this?” Wukong hummed as he smirked when he saw his student delicately land on one of the boulders below.
“Yep and I still don’t know if I regret it.”
“I mean you did worse,” he coyly smirked.
“You don’t want to talk about dumbass ideas with me Mr. ‘Let’s just ambush the trailing cart of a tired ass deity that would happily shank up on our sleep.’” He snarked back.
“Says the one who thought it would be a good idea to toss me in the water, forgetting that my stone ass can’t swim!” He shot back, they were playing around and Macaque had the jump of him and tossed him in the river. The black simian paused at what he just did and immediately panicked and dived down after him.
“You should really think about losing a few pounds, you were heavy,” he mocked and then got promptly tackled by the other monkey.
“I’ll show you heavy, how’d you like that mushroom brain,” he teased as he began to wrestle him.
“Says you rock for brains,” he shot back as he tried to get the upper hand. This went on for a few minutes as both monkeys playfully began to wrestle each other on the ground. It ended when Wukong managed to pin him down while holding his hands above his head and wrapping his tail firmly around the others.
“HA! I win!”
“Yeah, yeah,” he huffed after he tried to get out after a few attempts. “Don’t get such a big head about it.”
“Aww, but you know it only does good things to my ego~,” he teased as he leaned down.
“No it doesn’t, simply it’s truly terrible.”
“It does!”
“Does not!”
“Does!”
“Does not!
“Does!”
“Does not!”
“Does!”
“Does!”
“Does not! Damnit!” He cursed at the trickery.
“How do you fall for it every single time,” he openly laughed.
Wukong was about to refute when he saw just how close to each other they were and sucked in a breath. He can feel his chest against his own with each breath of air, he can see the faintest shimmer of violet deep within his golden eyes, he can feel his nose touching the soft button nose of his partner.
Macaque obviously heard the intake of breath, no super hearing necessary, and was about to ask when he too stopped short. It could be from the fact that their noses were so close to each other that he could feel his warm breath, the way he could feel the muscle very clearly against his own fur, or even how his golden eyes seem to be extra bright today that he can’t. Stop. Looking.
Neither pair noticed a pair of human eyes locking onto them with a curious expression on his face as he slowly backed up.
Either way, all of those reasons are very much valid in both of their minds as a familiar silence filled the air and it felt oh so good as they just almost blend together as one. This wasn’t the usual safe cuddles that both were adjusted to, no this was something long in the making, that this was something that was more than the friend standpoint that they anchored themselves down on and refuse to step off. This was something even more than love, but the word itself is the only thing that fits what they feel for the other, and they instinctively knew that there is something more between them, something devastatingly eternal.
There can be more if they just make that step off the cliff and into the unknown air.
But not today, no not today.
Instead, Macaque put his foot back down to that safe cliff and latched on tightly as cleared his throat. “You want to get off me anytime, I kinda want to feel my bones sometime,” he managed to say. He can’t take that step, he knows he’s a coward when it comes to admitting that he actually loves Wukong, but they just became friends once more after their stupid separation and he refuses to do anything that jeopardizes it.
“Right, my bad,” he said with a fake smile plastered on as he got off him and sat beside him. He can see the air and he can feel his feet wanting to make that leap into the foggy air and see how far the two can go, but he will push down that impulse. He wants this so badly, for centuries (no matter how hard he tries to deny it) he wants to admit that he loves Macaque, but he will keep his mouth shut. His impulsiveness has already done enough damage as it is, no need to add the emotional turmoil on top of all the other shit he did to his friend.
The two of them sat in silence once more as they sat side by side to each other, totally ignoring the small moment between.
“So…what are you doing for the Lunar New Year?” Wukong asked in an effort to get rid of the silence.
“Well this year, we’re gonna spend it in the city with the others this time around. Everyone brings some food, usually, I bring the moon cakes as I have the extra hands and you can never have too many.” Ever since he had met Yanyu, who had dragged him to his first Lunar year with her family in the city, it had become somewhat of a tradition to go to the city every two years and spend time together. “What are you doing?”
“Oh you know, just gonna chill on the mountain with good food and watch the fireworks,” he nonchalantly said.
“Just by yourself,” he questioningly asked. If there was one of the many things he knew about Wukong, it was that he hated being alone on any occasion. He knew it stemmed from his own weird beginnings and his unawareness of the societal norms at the start, but it all went downhill after he was trapped in the mountain with only the bitch ass spirits keeping guard, he could only sneak in so many times before one of the guards noticed something amiss, unfortunately. (Though he quite happily stopped by when Wukong was finally free and he had quite the playtime with them, he still can’t help but grin at the sound of their screams. It was truly music to his ears.)
“Yeah,” he shrugged. It wasn’t anything new, ever since his friends have…gone, he couldn’t quite bring himself to spend the holiday with anyone other than the tribe from time to time. It just doesn’t feel right anymore…it doesn’t feel like he has the right anymore.
“Yeah, no. Your ass is coming with me to the festival,” Mac deadpanned.
“What?!” He turned his head so hard that he could almost hear his neck snap.
“You. Are. Spending. The. Festival. With. Us.” He slowly emphasized each word as if he couldn’t understand it. “Got it.”
“But-but-”
“We’re not talking about your ass here, but you are coming.”
“I don’t want to intrude, it will probably be really weird,” he tried to rebuttal.
“The group has almost twenty people and then those people will sometimes bring their friends along, the more the merrier.”
“What about how I look, cause no offense, but I don’t want to be mowed down in a frenzy to get an autograph or a picture or something!”
“We both know you have a human disguise, hell I sometimes use my own from time to time.”
“But-”
“Wukong,” he grabbed his shoulders. “You are going to come to the Lunar Festival with us.”
The monkey opened his mouth once more, but sighed and sagged his shoulder. “When have you become so demanding.”
“I learned that from you,” he smirked.
“Pfft, nahh you have always been a demanding shit even before me,” he chuckled as he laid his head on Mac's shoulder. “Yeah, I’ll join you guys.”
“Great, but if it does get too much just come grab me and we can bail to one of the rooftops,” he shifted and wrapped an arm around his shoulder.
He smiled into his shoulder, “I wouldn’t mind that buttt I wouldn’t mind trying one of the moon cakes, especially if you make some with peaches in them.”
The doctor fondly rolled his eyes, “I’ll make some peach candy mooncakes for you dumbass.”
“Yes!”

what i thought about fear street  1666 (TW! Spoilers)
I loved the 1666, but the 1978 is still the best. Besides, a quick question, I don't know if I didn't get everything right because I only watched 1666 twice so far, but if Nick had already delivered the current generation's serial killer (Ryan Torres), why did he name Sam? because you see, Ziggy wasn't possessed, she of course lived scared to death, traumatized and all, but she didn't become a serial killer, her name didn't end in the cave rocks, after all, she was “free”. Why Nick would conjure Sam's name so early when no one would question after Kate and Simon died and took the blame from everything that happened? Why send a note saying "it's happening again" to Christine when he was the reason it was happening? Other than that, Nick didn't deliver much as a villain lol. I don't think it's the actor because he was well as a Soloman, I think it's because we don't see his villainization(is that a word?)? Like, I've been suspicious of him since 1994, but it doesn't show him being actively evil in any of the movies, just that scene of him conjuring the names and the ending a few minutes before his death with Deena, but I couldn't worry or be scared, you know? I expected him to try to justify himself or something until the cave scene, I didn't feel vilification(again, is that a word?) in the character and i think I should because he's literally responsible for everyone's deaths, he’s the big bad wolf, the true monster under the bed. From 1994 to 1666 I could guess he was shady af but it gave me more “anti hero thats gonna sacrifice himself in the end/// doesn’t want to be a part of this////is a puppet and has no idea what’s actually going on” and what I got was “Good is Evil or whatever” like even when he was talking abt his family, which wasn’t much he should have talked about that, his character should have appeared more, I think it would have been nice if maybe a moralization of the character in that scene where he's chasing Deena, like "Oh, my family has been doing this for years, my brother and mother are important to me, my blood is sealed to the devil since I was a baby Sunnyvale's safety is the most important thing, I do this for peace" very lunatic and a tyrannical even, wich does not in any way justify his actions, but who adds content to him as a villain, especially in a trilogy that had two great movies with horrifying killers and deaths. It just fell flat to me, for the big bad guy to barely even have good action, scarry scenes.
Even his relationship with Ziggy was a bit thrown, the importance he gave her was there for no particular reason, just to make the audience think he's nice and in love and surprise us in the end, which didn't work and it's a tactic I hate, the old trick of wanting to outsmart the audience, something Gossip Girl, Game of Thrones and Pretty Little Liars made me completely despise. I 1000000% prefer a structured and predictable outcome than something that will blow my mind for its lack of sense and meaning. ALSO I wouldnt be bothered if Nick was just evil to the core with no debpt whatsoever. Hell, most Sunnyvalers are! But the thing is that, by trying to outsmart the audience and try to lead us into believing Nick is a good guy, the writer (s) ruled that possibility out. You show him puking at seeing kids dying, him confessing how he didn’t want the “Goode” burden to fall of his back but he had no choice, putting Ziggy’s life over his well being, bringing Christine back to life, warning her about the monsters he’s sending to her town and even showing emotion when seeing her after a long time. NOTHING I said would make Nick any less of a monster who should rot in hell, but it clearly shows several colors and divergency on his way of thinking. And like I said, the writers could have given us evil Nick that played Ziggy’s heart and the entire Shadyside, but it doesn’t add up with all of that, at the same time all of that also don’t add up with the Nick we saw on 1666. If this movies were shot in different periods of time and not at once like it was I would say it was because the writers didn’t know who the bad guy truly was.
I won’t get into this, but someone important should’ve died. Like, bring the nurse back to avenge her daughter. Kill Ziggy (the idea of sacrificing Ziggy and Nick at the end ugh the waste). Kill somebody. This is a horror movie, nobody died. Yall could kill black and asian extras. Yall killed my sister Cindy, but couldn’t kill Ziggy? It made sense, she’d reunite with her sister!
Anyway, I know it sounded like I hated the movie but I REALLY LOVED IT. The actors were all great, the chemistry was there, and although I wish we’d seen more of Sam than just her “ghrghrghrhr” until the very end, I loved how both queer main characters were alive in the end, and how they paid respect for Kate and Simon and how Sara was considered the very first Shadysider (although it was pastor Miller sksks). I loved seeing Simon and Kate’s face there again although it wasn’t really them. I loved that Sarah wasn’t the big bad wolf although I saw it coming and would love to see female rage (like that scene where she was like “If they want a witch, they’ll get a witch gave me chills) but like I said, I prefer prediction than disappointment and I wasn’t (disappointed)with that.
THE END SCENE GOT ME EXCITED I HOPE THEY MAKE MORE OF THOSE BUT AT A DIFFERENT TIME SINCE LIKE THE BOOK WAS STOLEN. Also Cindy is my favorite character she legit showed up on flashbacks once and I cried.
My ranking, for now:
1. fear street 1978 (the best 2021 movie i fear i watched the entire week and made everyone i know watch it too)
2. fear street 1994
3. fear street 1666
i dont this there’s any bad movie on this trilogy btw. all great.

Molly!Warden vs Cultists, Again
Molly: So I cleared out the darkspawn and dragon cultists move in. Lovely.
Finn: You ... know these people?
Molly: Not these specific ones, but the general type. There were a bunch of people around the Temple of Sacred Ashes worshipping a high dragon there.
Ariane: Why do people want to worship dragons?
Finn: Big and powerful and fire-breathing!
Molly: Or, like, there was something more to that “Tevinter Old Gods looking like dragons” thing than anyone was letting on. I mean, I know Flemeth - your Asha’bellanar - turned into a dragon and she probably wasn’t human or even abomination so maybe gods aren’t actually gods but just really powerful people who like being worshipped Because Reasons?
Finn; Ariane: ....................
Ariane: That is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. My gods are real!
Finn: The Chantry teaches--
Molly: And, see, that’s why I might actually be better at deciphering this theology nugshit than people who actually grew up with ... religion, y’know? I don’t do gods. We don’t have ‘em. We have ancestor-worship. ‘Cos, see, I’m a Paragon now, okay? And what that means is that someday, dwarves are going to venerate me. Like they do Branka - who was a lunatic - and Caridin - who was a bit of a meeble-merchant, if you ask me, but he was stuck in a golem so had reason to be...
Finn: ...wut...
Molly: Long story; I’ll tell you more once we’ve got this mirror thing sorted. Anyway, point is, I know how it is to worship people as kind of like gods and if they have magic, I figure actually gods is a logical step to take. All we’ve got is the words of people who wrote down stuff all flowery in a “history is written by the victors” sort of way, or tales passed down from hahren to hahren for generations and probably getting twisted on the way--
Ariane: What do you know about hahren?
Molly: I spent, like, weeks with the Dalish clan that helped me get to the Archdemon; it was a thing. Anyway, I’m just saying that sometimes, myths get it wrong.
Valterral: REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Ariane: That’s ... a valterral. They’re a myth. They’re supposed to protect us.
Finn: He looks like he wants to make you part of his balanced diet, though. That doesn’t sound very protective to me.
Molly: See? Sometimes myths get it wrong. Now, maybe we should commence stabbing?
Dragons: RAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Molly: Aaaaaaaand of course these get in on the act. Okay, swords for everyone, c’mon!
Finn: Good. This is less confusing than the philosophy, anyway.
And, way down in the Nest
Molly: Oh, yeah, There’s your eluvian. I see why I missed it before. It was hard to see past Boobmother and her All-Star Tentacle Revue.
Finn: It’s glowy! I have to study it!
Ariane: Nope. Let the Warden talk to Morrigan alone.
Finn: But...
Ariane: You know that spell Molly likes it when you do against mages?
Finn: Mana Clash, yes...
Ariane: She has to have seen that done by some mage to know about it. And this Morrigan travelled with her to end the Blight. So...
Finn: Oh. ...Oh. Okay, yes, staying back is a good idea.
And, over by the eluvian
Molly: Hey, salroka; what’s shapin’?
Morrigan: Does “do not follow me” mean something different to the dwarves?
Molly: Hey, look, I just wanted to know how the kid is and if you’re doing okay. And it looks like you’re ... shopping for extra-planar real estate. I mean, I guess so long as you’re not having to yell at rage demons to get off your lawn.
Morrigan: ......I missed you. But I still have to go. Things are going to be happening, and changing, and I need power, and the safety to build it. Also you probably didn’t actually kill Flemeth but that’s alright; she probably can’t be killed by regular means anyway.
Molly: ...I have theories now but I’ll probably keep those to myself because Ariane would probably soil her smalls. Speaking of which, she’s been meebling about this book--
Morrigan: Ah, forever doing errands for others. I have what I need from it, so I leave that with you. And a gift.
Molly: You had a gift for me all ready to go, in someplace I slaughtered the broodmother of all broodmothers and wouldn’t want to go back to ... and you didn’t think I would follow you here?
Morrigan: “Do not follow me” might mean the same to most dwarves as it does to others, but to you, it means “do everything but throw a bon-voyage party”.
Molly: *pulls some confetti out of a belt pouch and flings it in to the air* Bon voyage, salroka. But just before you go, how is the kid.
Morrigan: Innocent. I’ll try to keep him that way for as long as the world lets me.
Molly: I’ll let Alistair know. He’ll be at least a little curious.
Morrigan: I ... I find I...
Molly: You hate the mushy stuff so I’ll just tip you a little wave and turn around so you can leave without it getting weird.
Morrigan: Perhaps you understand me better than I realised. Farewell.
Exit Morrigan, not pursued by anybody
Finn: ...can I study the mirror now?
Molly: Out or I will shove your face into the Boobmother corpse.
Finn: Going! Going!
Ariane: ...book?
Molly: This is yours, and this is mine, and we are leaving before more nasty shows up.
Ariane: What did she leave you?
Molly: I ... will let you know as soon as I figure that out. So half-past never, probably. Out.
((And thus ends Molly Brosca’s tromp through Thedas! Now I am going to bed and dream of what I might end up liveblogging next. I still have an eye on Meep!Warden...))

A/N: For the @ouranzine Flowers of the Host Club! I got overly ambitious with this piece, and the idea was too big for the word count. I do like the idea still.
Hikaru was used to seeing strange sights on a daily basis. It was the selling point of their club, the ability to transport their guests to different worlds, change seasons, and perform magic. He had ridden elephants to school, created an indoor jungle, and discovered there were very few things that couldn’t be done without money and an Ootari.
Very few. Sometimes he worried that world domination was the next logical step.
Either way, by this point, he didn’t think he could be surprised anymore. Yet standing here in his classroom, staring at Haruhi’s desk, he discovered that he was utterly wrong. Completely and utterly wrong. With ten minutes left before lunch ended, students slowly trickled into the classroom around him. The ordinary framing made the sight before him even more extraordinary. Rubbing his eyes, he asked, “You see it too, Kaoru?”
“I do. I don’t believe it though.” Next to him, Kaoru squeezed his eyes shut before slowly opening them again. When the sight before them didn’t change, he pinched his cheek. “This isn’t a dream.”
Hikaru clicked his teeth. “That was the only explanation. Unless…” He paused dramatically and covered his mouth with a trembling hand. “It’s an illness?”
Kaoru’s eyes widened and he pressed his palm against his forehead. “Terminal?”
Grimly, he nodded. “Possibly.”
“No!” Kaoru leaned against him, trembling. “It can’t be—”
“You know I can hear you, right?” Haruhi cut in dryly, resting her cheek on her hand as she stared up at them. Seated at her desk, she gestured at the clock. “Don’t you need to get to your seats?”
“And she’s worried about us! Her!” Hikaru wiped a tearful eye. Leaning forward, he squeezed her shoulder and gave her a pitying smile. “You don’t have to be so brave for us. You can let us know how you really feel.”
“Trust me, I do.” Haruhi sighed, running a hand through her hair. Giving a troubled sigh, she accepted her lot in life and gave in. “What are you talking about?”
Wearing matching identical grins, Hikaru and Kaoru pointed at the small bouquet of roses balanced precariously on the edge of her desk. At least a dozen long-stemmed red roses poked out of pink wrapping paper. “Who’s that for?”
“None of your business,” she answered immediately, adjusting the bouquet so it rested more securely on her desk. With a tender smile, she patted the bundle.
That abrupt brush off just made him more curious. Undeterred, Hikaru pressed, “Is it a lover?”
“No—”
With a teasing grin, Kaoru guessed, “Multiple lovers?”
“Definitely not.” She massaged her forehead, her frown deepening. “I can barely handle you guys as it is.” As though she just realized something, Haruhi froze and her skin paled.
“What’s wrong?” Hikaru asked, as though he didn’t know exactly what was on her mind. Or rather, the five somethings on her mind.
Slowly, like a broken robot, she turned to them. She looked both silly and cute and he stifled a laugh. “You’re not going to tell Tamaki, are you?”
“Milord?” Kaoru gasped. “You’re right, he certainly does have to know about this.”
Haruhi looked at Hikaru pleadingly. Instantly, he felt his skin flush and she had to be doing it on purpose, right? She had to know what she did to him, right? Kaoru smirked at him from over her head and Hikaru sighed before relenting. “Well, maybe if we had a bribe…”
“A bribe?” Haruhi blinked before clapping her hands. “Got it.” Gently, she extracted two roses from her bouquet and held them out. “Will this do?”
The oblivious smile on her face said it all: she had no idea what this looked like. Haruhi was a weapon just waiting to go off, with all of her natural flirting. Her rose dangled in front of him innocently. Well, a flower was a flower, and he could deal with it. In fact—as a thought struck him, he looked up and exchanged glances with his brother.
They could have a lot of fun with this.
“We’ll take it.”
-x-
If the sight earlier was an unexpected one, this next one was anything but. Kaoru stared blankly at the corner of the music room, where a dark gloom had set in. Tamaki was crouched in the corner, drawing circles on the ground with a finger. If he listened closely, Kaoru was certain he’d hear the soft mumbling of a lunatic.
He’d heard it often enough from his brother as Hikaru realized that his feelings might be more than a crush.
“What’s wrong, milord?” Kaoru asked, dropping his school bag and trotting over to Tamaki’s right.
“H-haruhi…” Tamaki mumbled, looking up all teary-eyed.
“What about her?” Hikaru asked, standing on his left.
“She’s…she’s…” Tamaki warbled, a fresh set of tears forming in his eyes. He wiped them with a sleeve and wailed, “She’s abandoning me!”
They turned around to where Honey and Mori were sipping tea, looking utterly nonchalant. “Haruhi didn’t come for lunch,” Honey explained, looking a little disappointed himself.
“She’s also not joining us today,” Kyoya said and Kaoru had to fight the urge to jump. The shadow king had an alarming ability to disappear and suddenly reappear.
“WHAT?” Tamaki’s jaw fell and an incoherent stream of sounds escaped his mouth.
Kaoru raised a brow. So she’d cleared it with Kyoya first, then. Judging by his expression, the slightly amused curl of his lips, he probably knew exactly what was going on. Hell, he probably knew about the flowers too. In that case, though, he wouldn’t mind them having a little fun with it. Resting a hand on Tamaki’s shoulder, he smiled gently. “Haruhi has a good reason.”
“She does?” Tamaki’s eyes grew wide and he looked up at him hopefully.
“A very good reason,” Hikaru continued, grasping Tamaki’s other shoulder.
As though rehearsed, they both added, “She’s giving someone a bouquet of flowers.”
Tamaki nodded. “Okay. That makes sense—” Cutting himself off, he looked from one twin to the other desperately. “What?”
“She got them at lunch,” Hikaru mentioned idly.
Kaoru crossed his arms. “And she wouldn’t tell us who they’re for.”
“WHAT?” Tamaki yelped, jumping to his feet. “DADDY DOESN’T APPROVE OF ANY BOYS.”
Trying not to grin, Kaoru nodded to Hikaru. It’d only take one more push. One more really easy push. Together, they pulled out their roses. “She gave us one though.”
Kaoru could hear the straw snapping. Tamaki moved from rage to jealousy. “She gave you flowers?” He twiddled his fingers. “She’d give me flowers too, right? As her daddy, I get one, right?”
“Of course, milord,” Kaoru lied, patting him on the back.
“I want one too!” Honey swiped the last cookie and swung off his seat.
Kaoru exchanged a smirk with his brother. Sometimes, it was all too easy.
-x-
There were many ways a matter like this ought to be handled. Delicately, since Haruhi never liked it when they focused all of their attentions on her. Subtly, because she wasn’t supposed to know what they were after. Individually, since they didn’t want to overwhelm her.
Tamaki, of course, threw all of that out the window. The second he spotted Haruhi in the hallway, he charged like a bull in the china shop. “WHO IS HE?”
Reportedly, the desperate screech of a terrified not-father was heard all around the world.
As they were all good friends, the host club understood that this was who Tamaki was and that while he remained a dense brick about his feelings, this was the only way he could deal with the muddled emotions buried deep in his heart. There was something sad and poetic about it.
It was also terribly amusing to watch Haruhi assassinate him with her response and they didn’t want to interfere with that at all.
-x-
Their school was a strange one, Honey knew. The seasons changed yet no one aged, the grounds had room for every type of scenery conceivable, and the hallways extended as long as narratively convenient. As long as he waited in a hallway, Haruhi had to go past him at some point.
Almost as though on cue, he heard a soft tapping as Haruhi walked down the hall. Clutching his Bun-Bun close, Honey skipped over to her, a bright smile on his face. “Haruhi!”
Surprised, Haruhi stopped in her tracks. “Honey?”
Standing in front of her, he clutched his rabbit and stared up with big, teary eyes. “You’re not coming to the club today?”
“I…” Bingo. While Haruhi might not be all that feminine or tapped into her motherly instincts, Honey prided himself in being able to find even the most dormant of instincts and pry them out. Haruhi rubbed the back her neck, giving him an apologetic look. “I can’t today.”
“Oh, that’s too bad.” Honey sighed, rocking back and forth on his feet. He stared at the ground. “I had dessert ready and everything.”
Haruhi’s brow knit. Troubled, she scratched her cheek before giving up and sighing. “Maybe next time?”
“Yay.” His expression brightened and he looked up at her once more. Pointing at her flowers, he asked, “What are those for?”
“It’s nothing.” Haruhi shrugged, straightening up now. “I have to get going, okay?”
No, this wasn’t good. He hadn’t gotten the flower yet. Pushing down his panic, he shot her a winning smile. “Could I smell them?”
“What?” Haruhi raised a brow.
“They must smell nice.” Honey looked at her innocently, batting his eyes. “I can’t?”
“Ugh. No, it’s fine.” Haruhi held out the roses delicately.
“Yay!” Honey leaned forward and pulled out a rose. There, mission accomplished. Smelling it, he grinned. “It’s so sweet!”
-x-
“Alright, next is milord—” The twins stared at Tamaki, who was still sulking in a corner. “Nevermind, too much damage. Mori’s up next!”
Mori stiffened. The club’s activities were fine when they involved the other members, when it was a group thing and not an individual issue. Alone, he didn’t know what he was supposed to do. Especially since he was hiding at an intersection, watching Haruhi walk down the hall. Behind him, the twins and Honey were gently egging him on, trying to get him to do something. Say something.
But what?
Mori didn’t know the answer to that. He could only watch as Haruhi walked further away, cutting past another intersection. She looked to her left in surprise before disappearing around the bend. Immediately, the twins broke into laughter.
“That was even worse than milord!” Hikaru guffawed, hunched over as he laughed.
“He didn’t even try!” Kaoru added, wiping the tears from his eyes. “He just watched her go!”
“Wait!” Honey peeked around the corner and gasped. “Look!”
Mori quickly rushed to the corner. As did the rest of the host club. Honestly, it was a miracle they hadn’t been spotted before this point. “What?” he asked, steeling himself.
“Is that?” Kaoru asked, surprise colouring his tone.
Mori could only nod. Eagerly heading toward them were two small forest animals: a tanuki and a rooster. In their mouths was a single rose. The constantly fighting pair were working together for once.
A wave of love washed over him. He’d have to spoil them tonight.
-x-
Tamaki stared vacantly as he sat under the staircase. Honey had a rose. Mori had a rose. The twins had roses. Everyone but him had a rose. Well, him and Kyoya, but Kyoya didn’t seem interested. It was unfair that Tamaki alone didn’t have one. He was her father!
No, wait, that wasn’t quite right. He wasn’t here to get a rose, he was here to find out who she was meeting. Who exactly those flowers were for. There was the soft thud of footsteps and he looked up to spot Haruhi. Finally. “Haruhi,” he called out, slowly getting up.
Haruhi groaned before turning to look at him. With a deadpan expression, she asked, “Yes?”
“Haruhi, I…I..” Tamaki stared at the roses in her hand. A pang hit his chest and he clutched his shirt. Was that the pain of fatherhood? It had to be, right? “Those roses…” Standing up, he staggered toward her. “Are they for someone important?”
Instantly, Tamaki turned red. No, that wasn’t what he was supposed to ask. That wasn’t it at all. Haruhi looked at him in surprise. Her expression softened and she nodded. “Yeah.”
“Oh.” Tamaki felt boneless and almost crumpled onto the ground.
“I should have realized what would happen the second the twins found out.” Haruhi sighed, pulling out a rose. She sniffed it. “I can see why you use them, they’re sweet.” Holding out the rose, she smiled at him. “They suit you.”
Tamaki blushed. “W-what?”
“Here, take it.” Gently, she pushed it into his hand. “Now you can tell them to stop bullying you, alright?”
Bullying? No, that wasn’t what this was about! Well, it did get him a rose from Haruhi, but that wasn’t the point! Who were the roses for? That’s what he had to ask. That’s what—
When he looked up, Haruhi was already gone.
-x-
Kyoya chuckled as Haruhi hastily headed toward the entrance. She looked like a woman on a mission, which, he supposed, she was. After all, the entire host club had been blocking her exit until now, a dense obstacle course that maybe he should repeat for a future host club event. Leaning against the wall, he raised a brow. “You should have known this would happen.”
“Yeah.” Haruhi didn’t look surprised to see him. He wasn’t sure if that rankled him or not. “I should have just gotten these after school.”
“Well, it was at a good discount.” He adjusted his glasses. Digging into his pocket, he pulled out a small card. “You can come here for the pictures later. In exchange, I’ll remove their proceeds from your debt.”
“Business as usual, huh?” Haruhi rolled her eyes but accepted the card nonetheless. “Still, thanks for the flowers. Oh, and here.” She pulled out a rose and held it out.
“What?” Perplexed, he looked from the rose to her.
Haruhi shrugged. “I already gave them to everyone else. It wouldn’t be fair to leave you out.”
-x-
“I’m home!” Haruhi called out, slipping off her shoes as she closed the door behind her.
Her father poked his head out of the kitchen. “Great.” His smile grew brighter at the roses in her hand. “And you got them!”
“Yeah.” Out of habit, she added dryly, “But it is a waste of money.”
“Nonsense, things for your mother are never a waste of money.” Ranka clicked his tongue, giving her a disapproving shake of his head.
She couldn’t disagree with that entirely. If there was one thing her time with the host club had taught her, it was that there were times when money had to be spent. That there were things, people, where the expense was worth it.
And her mother was definitely one of them. Approaching her mother’s altar, Haruhi gently placed the diminished bouquet of roses. “Happy birthday, mom.”

the originals : season 2 … sentence starters
“You ruined me.“
“This is a city of death.“
“Did anyone suspect you?“
“Do tell me, what'd I miss?”
“You, my dear, are leverage.“
“You've been awake for days.“
“I'm not gonna kill you, you idiot!“
“Am I supposed to fear you, too?“
“I will make you suffer as only I can.“
“So, we risk our lives while you hide?”
“Maybe she doesn't want to be found.“
“I will not follow you into this madness.“
“Your mind always drifts to violence, doesn't it?”
“The only delicate thing about you is your ego.”
“You waited for me, so I'll do the same for you.”
“Well, that's a grim sentiment coming from you.“
“For an upgraded model, you're not very sharp.“
“No offense, but your dad sounds like a jerkwad.“
“The castle closed its doors, and the kingdom fell.“
“You absolutely will not believe the week I've had.“
“Well, I was a little distracted by the murdery part.“
“Turns out I have complicated feelings for a monster.“
“Don't you dare walk into my house and threaten me.“
“I'm not looking for tough guys. I'm looking for warriors.”
“Is this rash a side effect of the witchy acid trip he's on?“
“Am I crazy, or did he just do his version of a nice thing?“
“How do you expect to show them the error of their ways?“
“As a devout feminist, I refuse to say that you hit like a girl.“
“And does this monster have complicated feelings for you?“
“I kept you from becoming a beast for as long as I possibly could.“
“Well, no mountain is endless. Some are just steeper than others.”
“You're outnumbered. Are you going to beg for your miserable life?“
“It's not safe being out this late. You never know who you'll run into.“
“A warrior fights for what they believe in. A warrior fights for his family.“
“I am the top dog. Your job is to ensure the battle doesn't come to me.“
“The worst has past. Though, I suspect the nightmares are far from over.“
“You think having people makes you strong? It proves how weak you are.“
“You chase my redemption like a man rolling a stone up an endless mountain.“
“I have a rather long list of people of people I need to track down and deal with.”
“It's not for everybody. Some folks, well, let's just say, it brings out the worst in them.“
“Come find me when you don't have fools, women, and children fighting your battles.“
“A single violent outburst at a filthy road-side café, and one never hears the end of it.“
“Confrontation is inevitable, child. Your fear will prove to be our greatest disadvantage.“
“That's why I stood by you. That's why I fought for you! I would have done anything for you.”
“Gosh, that would be such a nice compliment... if it didn't link me to so many homicidal lunatics.”
“If I tell you who I am, and you refuse to believe me, then I can hardly be blamed for your disappointment.“
“Actually, he's a liar, a beast, and a degenerate, but in this exceptional instance, he may be of some use.“
“You rant, and you rage about the monster I've become, but you are the author of everything I am.”
“I told you to clean yourself up... that if you were clean, no one would know what you are or what you'd done.“
“If you were a little more clever, you would recognize that there is opportunity in our current circumstances.“
“Do you mind? I'm trying to reverse a very complicated sacrifice spell and you whining about jazz is not helping me.“
“You will need to remain vigilant against those who would seek to destroy you, some of whom you may never see coming.“
“Regale me with your contributions to society. Medicine, philosophy, art? Or have you two merely cut a path of destruction across time?“
“Imagine hearing the sound of a heart beating, beating, beating and wanting more than anything to feed. That's what it's like to be a vampire.”
“You began to believe that as long as your suit was immaculate and your hands clean, you could look in the mirror and tell yourself it's all okay.“
“You just have to figure out what's best for you, and think long and hard about your decision, because you're the one who's going to have to live with it.“
“No, I'm trying to figure out why a smart, level-headed woman such as yourself would choose to stick around a town that to my eyes seems to offer you nothing but danger.“

Of Ice and Blood
Part 3
Tumblr media
Hey there! Thank you for taking the time to read this
There are so many left out details here that I did on purpose for future explanation within the fic for the element of mystery I'm trying to brew . Hope you don't mind! Enjoy reading❤
Part 1
Part 2
Part 4 Part 5 Part 6
1.7k words.
Pairing: Tai'chi Kashharzol (Orc) x Pearl Blackbell (Human OC/Reader)
Warnings: cursing, violence, injury and fighting.
*
Without thinking, I drove my fist towards the voice, regretting it the instant I recognized who it was.
Tai'chi.
I shouldn’t have been surprised when I found my fist encased in his hand. He seems unfazed by my reaction, seemingly expecting it.
“Oh shi— I’m so sorry!”
How the hell did he sneak up on me without making a sound??
“Feisty- I mean, I should be the one sorry, for startling you...And for following you. I just wanted to, make sure you were alright.”
I blinked. He was concerned?
He spoke up when I didn’t respond.
“So, are you okay?”
“Y-Yeah. I’m fine. Just, disappointed.” I breathed in and sighed as he gently let go of my fist.
Oh, and his scent helps right now. He smells so...wonderful I don’t know why. It’s not like I’ve been surrounded by disgusting odors my entire life. I swear I’ve inhaled appealing scents like lilac, sandalwood, cinnamon, even rain has its particular smell! But Tai'chi, he—he’s something else entirely.
“Shouldn’t you be somewhere else like, I don’t know, maybe getting lunch with some of your friends or in a classroom?” I asked. I wonder why he would even bother to be in my presence. Anyone should be creeped out by the way I spoke up earlier. I mean, who does that? Plus, I did throw a stranger down to the floor. But part of me knows he deserved that.
Definitely.
“Want to talk about it?” He ignored my question. Tai'chi was now sitting cross-legged beside me, the oak’s root in between us. His deep azure eyes studying, watching me carefully.
“What?
“What you did back there, wasn’t something a plain, timid college girl would do.”
Wait. He knew I was pretending to be one?
“Yes, I knew.”
“You can read minds?!” I stammered out. He can read my mind this whole time?! Shit.
He held up for a second before a boisterous laugh broke out of him and echoed through the circling trees, scaring away some birds perched above. I don’t know if I should be offended or flustered by his guffaw. It was so, so deep and rich and —
What the hell Pearl? What if he's reading your mind??
Tai'chi faced me again, sighing once he calmed down.
“To answer your question, no, I can’t read minds. But like I stated before, your face gives it away. Or your brows since you’re wearing a mask, but I can imagine your expression.”
I let out an incomprehensible noise.
“How did you find out I was pretending to be…you know,” waving my hands around.
“The moment we made eye contact this morning when you entered. And the way you shifted your body at the last second to prevent yourself from plunging into the trash bin, I knew you were something more. Your eyes and your actions show your experience in combat. A skilled warrior would notice these little things right away.”
My jaw fell open, and I’m sure he knows. He left me speechless.
Should I tell him I am a trained martial artist and a weapon wielder?
But we just met like 5 hours ago!
He seems trustworthy. And he’s an orc, didn’t they have a code of honor or something?
My thoughts ran wild I swear Tai'chi could hear my mind, screaming.
“Hey, it’s okay if you don’t wish to. And I must’ve sounded, creepy when I admitted I’ve been observing you. But before anything else, will you allow me to introduce myself, for real this time?”
“You mean your name isn’t Tai'chi?”
Letting out a chuckle, he replied, “I swear to you, my name is Tai'chi. What I mean is, I want you to know my full name. Do you understand what this implies, Pearl?”
I racked my brain for a moment, trying to recall what my parents said about orc traditions when my uncle, papa’s brother, married the orcess he fell in love with. Something about an orc’s real name being reserved only to those they’re close to?
“I guess so? But what exactly?”
“I want to become your friend.”
I couldn’t help the slight warmth creeping into my cheeks behind my mask. He can’t see it, can he? A friend, he says. A friend!
“Oh,” was all that came out. A pause and;
“Uh, I mean, I’d love to be your friend! I never had an actual friend before. I mean, have cousins, but we aren’t acquainted enough to consider myself their friend— I mean— uh, what should I do?” I blurted out a little rapidly.
He smiled. He actually smiled! Oh, damn, it was adorable!
Tai'chi was about to say something, but he snapped his mouth shut and grimaced. I was confused by his sudden change of mood, along with his scent.
Then it struck me.
The two of us shot up when multiple smells filled the air, making my stomach clench.
We were followed, not just one but six individuals. One of them was the pretentious human from earlier.
My day can’t get any better. And is that a baseball bat? Great. Fucking great.
I swear. I’m cursed to find trouble anywhere I go.
“Hello, freaks.” The guy in the middle began. “Whatcha doin’ out here in the forest?”
The others began spreading out and surrounded us.
“Planning something nasty I bet.” A human to my right spat.
“You will pay for what you did to me, you bitch. Just so you know, my father is the dean of this university. No one will ever hear a word of what I did here and what we will do to you.
'Dean’s son, David Silverstone, assaulted by an insane student in the woods within campus grounds. His friends graciously helping him fight off the lunatic until she passed out and was carried to an isolation chamber for monitoring, later finding out about her severe psychological disorder.’ Now wouldn’t that be a hit in the papers!” The bastard and his companions cackled and snickered, some of them stealing glances between my legs and I felt my skin crawl.
Tai'chi growled lowly, silencing them for a brief moment. He was getting mad but held his ground.
“And you,” the human pointed, “you beast. It won’t be hard antagonizing you, people will no doubt believe you were the one who violated the schoolgirl and left her in the woods to die.”
This fucking—
I felt a hand on my shoulder just as I was about to start, gently gripping, in hopes of trying to calm me down. He knows they were baiting us on making the first move. He shook his head, and an idea popped up.
Taking a deep breath, I attempted to make my voice as girly as possible, sounding so hilarious, like those overdressed, flashy high school girls with flowery perfume so strong I wrenched every time I get a whiff of it.
Provoking them would do.
“Oh, I’m so scared! Should I get on my knees and beg for mercy? Oh please, great and noble one, have mercy on my poor soul.” My voice laced with mockery and sadness, with my legs fake trembling and my arms flailing.
And did Tai'chi just snort?
“If you beg nicely, I will perhaps give you a chance to— ”
My sudden wheezing interrupted him and I laughed. Hard. I can’t believe he bought my terrible acting! I expected him to straight-up be offended rather than actually bite the false bait. He is dumber than I thought.
I was holding my middle by the time I was done. Tai'chi’s shoulders were moving slightly, probably chuckling and trying to hold back his amusement.
“Did you honestly take it seriously??? I can't— oh my God!” I choked out once more before I went on.
“There’s no chance in hell I’m gonna bow to you, not even one degree of an angle, you foolish, idiotic, spoiled, bastardized son of a bitch.”
His face was turning red out of rage and oh! Wasn’t that a sight to behold?
“You brat!” Turning his head to the others, he yelled, “What are guys standing there for?! Get them!”
Good.
Perhaps they didn’t catch my hands slipping on my beloved crimson knuckle dusters out of the bag when I was laughing then, tugging down my hoodie’s sleeve to hide it.
“Don’t move.” I told the orc, whose eyebrows shot up in surprise.
“But—”
“Just don’t.” I said with my voice firm. I will take them on my own. I can’t have him getting in trouble and people blaming him for being an orc. Imagine that. The ones who attacked him will be viewed as victims because they were up against him, an orc. Numerous humans will jump at the chance to throw dirt at their race, a single act of self-defense treated as a one-sided assault to humans, the thought of it being enough to somehow remove all of them from the city, but everyone knows it's not that simple. Dimwits.
I strode forward without earning his response, waiting for the first person to come at me.
I took my stance, although it was more of preparing half of my body since I was still hiding both of my hands.
They all seemed confused and hesitant, which was what I was going for. To me, and those with experience in hand-to-hand combat, this is one of the most basic stances, but fundamental, nonetheless. A simple form that can determine the outcome of a fight. With my right foot forward, left foot back, both firmly planted to the ground, and my dominant hand wearing my dusters. In their eyes, it was…wrong, foreign. Some may even say it’s an open vulnerability, showing how inexperienced the opponent is, but oh, it is the exact opposite.
I didn’t see Tai'chi’s expression, though. I was on alert and getting into my zone to peer at him, one motion that can put me in a compromising position. Did he notice my brass knuckles? Likely.
“Scared to hurt a little girl like me?” I enticed.
Finally, the one beside their alleged leader charged at me.
A typical amateur approach.
The guy, about two inches taller than me, threw a right punch, which was a huge mistake.
Predictable.
I smirked under my mask and dodged it not a second before it connected. Making him falter as I grabbed his arm and brought it down to my knee, dislodging his joints.
A high-pitched scream of pain broke out of him as he dropped down on the forest ground, gripping his bent-off arm, cursing, but refused to rise and fight me again.
I gave him one last glance before I looked back at the others.
“Who’s next?”
****************************************
Those human shits just can't leave them alone! Interrupting their supposed-to-be official introduction! There's more to the orc that meets the eye *wink* Who is he exactly? Why was he so... observant?
Part 4 is actually on its third revising— and I'm still trying to come up on HOW to phrase my next words to lead to part 5. I let me brain take a break from spewing senseless words for now so I'll probably post the next part of this later or tomorrow
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed! And I'd appreciate it if you have some advice for me, or just point out some mistakes I made! Thank you
Ps. This is really not perfect formal writing if you're wondering. I just type away whatever comes into my mind, and then proofread it to the best I can. And I hope you don't mind me using a lot of spaces. It... sort of makes my mind clear and continue moving forward, and it helps me when I'm reading it again, mentally taking note that with every line between spaces there's a slight pause and again, read it clearly like you were the one thinking it. I don't know how to explain how my own brain works but I guess that's that?

s. burnside
Tumblr media
writing this because i’mma die on this hill for steve burnside and yall telling me his character was dumb and annoying and produced nothing for the franchise. fools. this boy was badass for his age and the trauma he went through.
incoming drabbling pov’s
tw gore, explicit mentions, gross stuff
just imagine being a 16-17 year old kid just hanging around your house and basically a private group of armed-to-the-teeth soldiers bust down your door, tie you up and set you across the room executioner style and blow your mom’s brains out in front of you. then all you can see is the dark when they throw a bag over your head, 100% kidnapping you and your dad. they throw you on a remote island military base now revamped into some strange concentration camp for a multi-million dollar pharmaceutical super power. you’re the enemy now because your dad tried to sell the company’s secrets to make a quick buck. you’re the prisoner now thanks to your parent’s bad choice. what did you do to deserve this?
imagine getting issued an inmate number. imagine getting it branded to your skin and how much that must have hurt when your screams filled the air with the other people going through the same damn thing with the smell of burning flesh stinging your eyes. you feel betrayed by your father. why isn’t anyone doing anything to stop this? who is in charge? why couldn’t they just fire your dad? imagine the tracking collar paired with the new branding that completes the idea that you’re now property of Umbrella -- and the realization comes crashing in that you might not escape, that you’re stuck here until you die. this place is how you die.
you and your dad haven’t seen each beyond passing glances and courtyard work. because these military dogs -- or whatever they are, make you do meaningless tasks to help build more of the complex into the island. but then those projects teeter off in the months. and then you start seeing people disappear, slowly but surely, the population of inmates you’ve bonded with over the months begins to dwindle. you hear screaming in the night. your blood runs cold. there are rumors that this Alfred Ashford who runs the base went mad - so what does that mean for you? and what the hell is an anatomist? isn’t that a doctor?
the uncertainty is killing you more than the knowing.
then something explodes. the island is on fire. everyone is being affected. the soldiers and guards are either evacuating or-- you’re sure you’re seeing things. but did Jeffery just take a bite out of Thompson? Sure, those two never got along.. but..
and then it happens. and keeps happening. before you can really understand what’s happening, you’re running for your life, hiding from men devouring each other, friends turning enemies and the dead ripping themselves out of debris and burning complex. you escape. only to find you aren’t the only survivor.
it’s a girl who knows her way around a gun, she’s gorgeous and you try not to look like a total idiot. ...and then a psychopathic Ashford bent on playing cat and mouse games with you both. you know eventually the only way to get out of here alive is team up, but you want to prove to yourself you can survive without needing others. depending on others is how someone can betray you, how someone can get you locked up on island full of lunatics, remember? you don’t need anyone.
and then you’re the one saving the girl, it’s before you even realize what you’re doing. didn’t you just say you didn’t need anyone?
but there was nothing ever decided about them ever needing you. you feel good about yourself, feel the adrenaline and for once in this crazy few days, you feel like you can do this. survive. and it helps she’s amazing, shit-- she’s really just some kind of angel that dropped out of the sky that moment you were about to suffocate for yanking some awesome golden guns off a wall. who even booby traps a room like that?
but then looking where you are -- in all of this chaos, it’s not surprising. you’re both dancing to the tune of a devil without realizing it, or maybe you do because this is the only way out.
and you shouldn’t be surprised one second when you see HIM. your father. a mangled shuffling corpse, dead-eyed and broken trapping HER, the girl that’s saved you just as you’ve saved her. you can’t let it end this way, you don’t want to pull the trigger. but he’s about to rip her throat out.
so you do. you let go. the sound is deafening, a rage and sorrow burns in your chest and has you vomiting up choked sobs about the only real family you had left in this world.
he was already gone by the time you found him. already dead. but this? this didn’t help.
she leaves you to your thoughts, strong willed and already pushing to find another escape route. but all you can think of is how to get revenge, how to pay the bastards back that infected this island in the first place-- Umbrella, whoever else, and the feeling festers with the bile in your gut. you can’t hide your face in your hands anymore; you stop crying.
then you find a spot on the island to lay your father to rest. you burn the body. you try not to focus on the stench and how it reminds you of your own flesh under a searing iron brand. leave nothing traceable, nothing left that anyone could desecrate. you never get to say goodbye, you never get to forgive, you never get to tell him it wasn’t fair.
the island, the virus, took everything.
( - - - - )
and this isn’t even the WORST of it really. just imagine after all that, you get captured after thinking you’ve finally escaped the island. you FLEW a plane. you almost...--  with her.. but.. ?
Alexia? Alfred? no -- this is really her, not Alfred, not the man you were sure died in the arctic base from falling to his death. you stared down the scope of his sniper rifle and won. so why is this happening? you spit curses at her, she laughs at you, shrill- undaunted. there is something cruel in her eyes, her tone. this is worse than Alfred and you feel something inside you churn with dread as there is a gleam of a syringe.
it pricks your skin and for a moment, you feel nothing.
and then everything at once.
you are on fire. your skin, your hair, your eyes, your veins. you feel like you’re drowning in a hellstorm of fury and blazing temperatures. the pain is nothing like you’ve felt before, your body thrums from shock and there’s bones crunching and snapping, twisting your limbs and spine like gnarling roots into something treacherous.
now there’s a voice singing in your bones and blood. like one of those grisly haunted dolls hanging from the ceilings of that manor; you’re pinched together with marionette strings and your limbs move, claws reaching for the deadly halberd keeping you in place. no matter what, you can’t stop it. you’re screaming on the inside and the chorus echos louder, swallowing everything.
you swing at HER - and pray you miss.

~
Years ago
In the concealment of the near-darkness behind a dumpster, Ellis stood perfectly still. A light mist fell from the sky, dampening the hood over their head, casting their face in shadow.
Their hand wrapped tightly around the gun shoved deep into the pocket of their jacket. They rubbed their thumb gently against the edge of the trigger guard, the cold metal comforting them. Back, forth. Back, forth. The gun was what brought them peace, brought them justice. Every time they used it.
They tipped their head back and shivered at the cold mist of water on their face. They were soaked to the bone, now, having been standing in the shadow of that alley for hours. Waiting. Just waiting.
They weren’t sure why they still wore a hood. Maybe it made them feel safer, feel more anonymous. Maybe it made them braver, during the muggings.
It didn’t really matter, in the end. No one survived their muggings anyway. Just a simple crime gone wrong, everyone would think. ‘Who could do this? What kind of monster?’ they all probably thought.
I’m the monster you made when you murdered my family.
Eight months. For eight months, they’d been alone, walking through the world feeling their family’s blood smeared on their skin, the smell as strong as if the blood really did cling to their clothes. For eight months they’d been tormented by their own mind when it supplied how much their family must have screamed and suffered. And now… Christopher was gone, Chloe and Galen were… were gone, but every day their deaths stung like a new wound. Stabbed in the heart, over and over and over. They murdered Ellis that day, too. They just weren’t dead yet.
The muggings were the only thing that made them sane. They were the only thing that brought them back from that edge, when they’d find the gun in their hand and pointed at their own head. Doing this was the only thing that kept the voice in their head quiet enough to be ignored, the voice that urged them to drink enough that they wouldn’t wake up, to step out into traffic, to pull the trigger on themself. The muggings were what kept them alive.
And yet… they couldn’t make themself think of them as executions. If anything, they were retribution, tilting the scales of the world a little more balanced. Ellis couldn’t find justice for their family, so they’d settle by bringing justice to the people who murdered them.
They’d been standing in the alley for hours. They couldn’t risk doing this in a well-travelled location. The point was dread. The point was fear, the syndicate fuckers finding their people’s bodies in alleys and empty parking lots. If Ellis could make them feel just a sliver of the fear that the syndicates themselves created in the world, then it might be enough. If they killed enough syndicate people, it might eventually be enough.
Not yet, though. Nothing was enough yet.
Footsteps echoed down the alley. Two sets.
Two dead motherfuckers. They’d never tried to take two before. The gun in their hand had taken three lives, each one a lone syndicate member, confident in their ownership of the world. Never watching their backs.
These two would be the same. Walking down an alleyway in the north end of town, without their bodyguards. They probably thought they owned the fucking place.
Fuck, they kinda do.
Ellis slowly, carefully pulled the gun out of their pocket. They crouched so the dumpster would conceal them for just a moment longer, waiting for the two fuckers to walk past it, so Ellis could—
They froze as they heard one of them speak.
“I don’t understand why we had to go this way, mom. The clinic is just—”
“Yes, darling, the clinic is that way. But your father told you specifically not to use the belt on her again. If the clinic can get her healthy again before your father returns from his trip, then it’ll be a lovely little secret between us both. But if your father’s security sees you in and out of the clinic into which his plaything disappeared…” A sigh. “Really, Aaron. I would have thought we both taught you how to handle a whipping better than this.”
That’s right. They’re taking people off the streets now, people who piss the syndicates off, or just look too damn pretty or maybe bleed too damn well, whatever the fuck that means… Ellis bit their lip and let the rage stir inside them, rise to the surface, and it never had far to go. Rumors of disappearances had been slowly becoming fact, just a part of life now that everyone knew but did nothing about. Everyone had at least one story of someone they knew, or someone who knew someone they knew, disappearing one day, poof, gone. Only to wind up in some fucking dumpster or the bottom of the river, with marks of abuse and torture that made Ellis’s stomach turn. They couldn’t go a week without hearing another report of someone who’d gone missing months or years ago turning up dead, covered in scars, and branded.
Poor fucks. It’s slavery, it’s fucking torture and these lunatics call it playing.
The man – it sounded like a young man, and the woman spoke to him with a long-suffering air – drew closer to Ellis’s hiding spot. Their shoes clicked on the wet cement, his a low, resounding sound and hers a high, delicate one. Ellis could hear the soft hiss of rain is it fell on his coat. Their hand tightened around the gun and they blew a slow, silent breath out through their open mouth.
“Maybe I wouldn’t have whipped the fucking thing if you gave me one of my own. Everyone my age—”
“You can have one when you’ve proven you can properly maintain one, darling. If you continue to break your father’s toys—”
Vile, bitter rage swept through Ellis. They stepped out of the shadows.
The woman gasped and jumped back, looking down her nose at Ellis like they were… trash. Scum. Looking like Ellis like they were the type of thing she could take, use up, and dispose of and think nothing of it.
The young man, on the other hand, looked at Ellis with a burning hunger in his eyes. He looked eighteen, maybe twenty. A shock of pale blond hair was dampened and flat against his head, the exact same shade as his mother’s. Each of them wore a long coat with the collar pulled up against the cold wind and rain, each costing more than Ellis had had to eat in the past month.
“Step aside,” the woman said primly, but Ellis could hear her voice was trembling. Ellis raised the gun and her eyes went wide, fixed on the barrel. Her son fell back a step and then froze, and the terror on his face was…
Ellis swallowed dryly. If they could stare at the terror in his eyes for the rest of their life, it still wouldn’t be long enough.
“Wh-what…” The woman shuddered and her eyes flicked up to Ellis’s face. For a moment a chill of fear drew a cold finger down their back.
She’s never going to tell anyone what I look like.
The boy finally moved and Ellis slowly moved the gun to point at him. He shifted forward a half step, drawing closer to his mother… and then stepping in front of her.
“Aaron, no,” she whimpered, but she was frozen with fear. Ellis may as well have been pinning her down.
“M-mom,” he said, his hands shaking, before he drew himself upright, glaring Ellis down. They could see the mantle of power he was trying to draw around him, could see him struggling to be in control.
That’s who the syndicates were. Constantly in control.
“B-back off,” the boy said, and Ellis laughed in his face.
“You one of those fucks who plays with people?” they sneered, their hand tightening around the gun. “You one of those sick fucks that tortures people? You kill people, kid? Rape people?”
All at once, the fear dropped away, and malicious, arrogant self-satisfaction rushed up to replace it. The boy’s face became a mask of contempt. “They’re not people by the time I’m done with them, you fucking—”
BANG.
The bullet punched through the boy’s chest and flung him back against his mother. She screamed as blood spattered her face and they both slumped to the wet pavement.
“AARON!” she shrieked as he fell on top of her, pinning her under his weight. He choked for a moment, his eyes rolling sightlessly in his head before he convulsed, once, and died on top of his mother.
The woman wailed in horror as Ellis took a step closer, her fingers digging into the thick wool of his coat. “Aaron, NO!” She sobbed raggedly and looked up to Ellis. Ellis took another step forward until they were standing just beside the mother. Hate blazed in her eyes, and grief, and everything else that had made a home inside Ellis since their children were taken from them.
How does it feel, syndicate fucker?
“You killed him!” she sobbed. “You… you fucking bitch, you fucking… creature! I will tear you apart!”
Her pain filled them up, fed them. Their skin was on fire with it.
The woman screamed helplessly, and even through the rain, Ellis could smell the puddle of blood that was rapidly spilling out over the ground. Her face twisted in her agony and her voice echoed off the walls of the alley. “I will kill you! I WILL KILL YOU!”
“Naw, don’t think so,” Ellis said, and held the gun to the woman’s head. They watched her eyes as they pulled the trigger.
The bullet tore through the woman’s head and her skull slammed against the rain-slicked pavement. Blood colored the water.
Ellis’s bones ached with vicious retribution. Their hands shook as they tucked the gun back into their jacket. They couldn’t tear their eyes away from the woman lying splayed on the ground, pinned underneath her son. Her son, who not thirty seconds earlier had been talking about whipping some poor woman somewhere half to death just because he wanted his own “toy”.
There’s no hell deep enough for you people.
Ellis knelt down to complete the last part of their ritual. They slid a hand inside the boy’s coat and pulled out a cell phone and his wallet – and took the gold watch from his wrist as well. Then they heaved the boy off his mother like he was so much dead weight. Ellis pocketed the woman’s wallet, too. They stood and looked over the two dead syndicate members, their stomach starting to heave with the smell of blood, the sight of the dead, soulless eyes. It always came, after. The sickness. They refused to think of it as guilt. They turned and ran.
Rain pattered on the top of their hood, spraying their face, clearing their mind. Slowly, the bloodlust faded from their body. Slowly, they became human again, not the monster the syndicates had made. They ran across intersections, barely looking to see if the cars had stopped. They passed street signs, lights, restaurants that sold steaks covered in fucking gold while people starved just outside. The embargoes the syndicates had put on the cities were more like a siege. Only food, fuel, and medical supplies destined for syndicate homes, syndicate people, were allowed in. Everything else – you better fucking pray you have a good connection in the black market. Six weeks, it had been like this, and would be until the mayor decided to step down and give in to the syndicates’ demands.
They ran until their legs ached and their lungs burned. They ran until they didn’t know where they were anymore.
They slowed to a stop, leaning hard against the gray, featureless wall of an industrial building. They couldn’t hear the rush of traffic anymore. They heard only the dim hum of electricity, and the distant clanking of heavy machinery. The slid down the wall and sat with their back against it, rain soaking through the seat of their pants. They pulled out the wallets and looked through them.
The woman – Sherise Lawton, according to her ID – had three different credit cards tucked into the folds of her wallet. A picture was tucked into one pocket, one of her, her son, and a man Ellis assumed was her husband. It was an old picture. The kid looked barely ten years old. Ellis swallowed hard against a sudden wave of nausea and moved on.
A membership card to an exclusive gym downtown. A business card for an interior decorator. A receipt that had been handled so many times Ellis couldn’t make out what it was for. Six thousand units of… something, in cash. Ellis didn’t recognize the money. Ice clutched their chest, just another piece of evidence that the syndicates were taking everything: the government, the money, the schools, their fucking safety.
Safety doesn’t matter anymore. Everything I ever wanted to keep safe is gone.
Ellis pocketed the money and tossed the rest of it down the sidewalk. They opened the boy’s wallet.
They never looked past the first pocket. They pulled out the boy’s ID, his picture smiling, proud, excited.
Galen and Chloe could have had this. They could have had their first driver’s license, too. They shivered and pressed their hand to their mouth. Their eyes suddenly burned.
Their eyes flicked to the boy’s birth date. May 24, 2006.
It felt like a fist twisted in Ellis’s gut. Frantically, they tried to think of what day it was… but they could barely think of the year. Their heart pounded in their chest and their hands shook as they clutched the ID card.
2022. It’s 2022.
This boy was sixteen years old.
The ID fell from Ellis’s grip as they crumpled back against the wall, their chest heaving with sobs. He was sixteen. He was sixteen and I killed him. I murdered a sixteen-year-old. Ellis smashed their fist against their mouth, trying to muffle the strangled sobs that came from deep inside them.
Across town, a few miles away, there was a sixteen-year old kid lying dead in an alley with his blood staining his mother’s clothes. With a bullet from Ellis’s gun buried in his chest. Ellis lurched forward and vomited up everything they’d eaten that day, and kept heaving, choking as nothing came up but sour bile. They slumped onto their knees and covered their head with their arms, shaking violently, as the world lurched sickeningly around them. The rain fell harder, soaking their clothes.

Conversation
RP meme from Scream Queens Ep 6 "Seven Minutes in Hell" (Note: Offensive content, use at own discretion)
Everyone would immediately assume the killer is me.
Are you one of those idiot savants who's heavy on the idiot, light on the savant?
I am simply a victim of my times.
Are you aware your pants are on backwards?
Then whose fault is it?
I am never talking about anything ever again!
Yeah, super sorry about what happened down there.
Why are you laughing?
What about that fit you threw down there?
You're not mad at me?
Oh, I meant everything I said about you.
I still think you're useless. I'm just not sad about it.
You never, ever want to be the boss in a time of extreme crisis.
As soon as you become the boss, you get a target on your back, from the feds, the other families, ambitious underlings.
Sure, seems like you have all the power, but you also take on the most risk.
Oh, don't judge me for trying to stay alive.
Do not give an inch.
What's your game here?
I trust you about as far as I can throw you.
I know we don't know who the killer is, but we know it traces back to this house.
There are two things that always happen at a slumber party; someone experiments with lesbianism and secrets are revealed.
We can create situations and scenarios to really prime the pump.
We'll lock everybody up overnight, and we're bound to find out something.
A slumber party sounds fun.
Let's play spin the bottle.
Someone always goes lesbian.
We're playing spin the damn bottle.
Why spin the bottle?
That is not a nasty rumor. That is a true rumor.
So I propose a panty raid.
You taste like wax.
I guess we have to kiss.
You're a great kisser.
Was I interrupting you?
I was just practicing looking disinterested.
I'm pretty sure I was born without that part of the brain that actually feels stuff.
We have so much in common.
I'm starting to think we have something very important and specific in common.
My sex life up until this point is what you'd call unusual.
I think the only way to be sure of your feelings is if you let me gently rub your uterus right now.
When I love someone, it drives them insane.
Believe me when I say that if it was possible for me to feel anything I would totally be crying right now.
That doesn't seem healthy.
All the doors are locked solid. Windows, too. Upstairs and down.
I decided to have the whole house turned into a panic room.
But wait, doesn't that mean that there's some sort of switch somewhere to deactivate it?
I hate being trapped in small places.
There's only one reason why the killer would do something like this-- to pick us off one by one.
Guess it's just a matter of time before one of us or all of us ends up dead.
You have to help us.
Look, I'm prepared to say I'm sorry I did that.
What I'm not prepared to do is say the sex was bad.
Yeah. I'm not gonna apologize for that one.
I'm about to get murdered, so can you please just hang up and get over here?
How on earth are we supposed to get in if all the doors and windows are locked?
Dude, we climb up the ladder, break the windows upstairs, save all the girls, climb back down, then it's vagina city for all of us.
Why would you bomb-proof upstairs windows? For what, like, a flying bomb?
Don't be an idiot.
It's hero time.
Save me and I'm yours forever.
I'm not really sure I'm ready for that level of commitment.
Break the glass!
Stand back, fair maiden.
Give him the dignity of watching him die.
Someone in this house definitely knows who the killer is.
It's truth or dare time.
Whatever it takes to stop the douche that's trying to kill everybody.
I mean, do you ever just stop and ask yourself if we can actually pull this off?
Maybe we all just need to get out of here.
The best way to avoid a shark attack is to not go in the water.
We all have a crisis of faith sometimes.
Maybe you're hiding something.
I'd pick truth and then just lie.
If you want to lie, you can just pick dare.
That's the whole point of truth or dare. You can't lie.
Does your vagina have teeth?
I'm not lying.
My vagina doesn't have teeth.
Does your vagina still have teeth?
So it used to have teeth, but you got them removed?
So your vagina still has teeth.
Sounds like you're trapped in a web of lies.
You're forfeiting your turn, bitch.
Okay, I guess it's my turn, then.
You promised you wouldn't tell.
Sorry. I had to tell the truth.
Of course you're the killer.
I propose we take a little break, You know, take a whiz, get a refill.
You know what? I'm sorry. I'm sorry I ever trusted you.
I wanted to talk about the other thing you said, about how you thought you had feelings for me.
The only feelings I have for you now are rage and pissed offedness.
Now go sit in that bathtub and think about what you've done. And try not to rub one out, okay?
Come on! I said I was sorry!
If anybody's down here, please don't jump out at me.
Is that blood?
Wait. If you're gonna kill me, at least show me who you are first.
I knew it. I knew it was you.
Please. You don't have to do this. I could help you.
There's never any food in there. Just laxatives.
I got the impression that you and I are on the verge of being the next "it" couple.
See, this is the problem with texting, you know? You can't hear the context.
Even though I decided to not wear a bra, you haven't been staring at my shirt raisins once.
Okay, look, I was waiting to talk to you about this 'cause secretly I was hoping you'd be killed and I wouldn't have to hurt your feelings.
I just don't think it would work out with us.
You're nuts, and not like a typical crazy-eyes co-ed, but wake-up-with-my penis-in-a-jar lunatic.
I love space mountain. Best ride at Disneyland. But I love my penis more.
Number one-- I never take second place. And number two-- I don't stop till I get what I want.
Was that salad spinner hitting on you?
I am super turned on from her, and I need some sweet release.
Is there any, like, Crisco or cooking oil here? Just, like, dry handies bum me out.
I propose we treat ourselves to a little heaven. Seven minutes in heaven.
Whatever your plan was, it isn't working.
Would you like to pat the little man in the canoe?
I want to take our relationship to the next level.
I want us to be together, but I want it to mean something.
I love boning girls all over this great land. But really, at the end of the day, I just kind of want to bone one girl. Like, that one special girl.
I just didn't think that girl was you. Because, obviously, there's so much wrong with you.
Will you get back together with me?
I would consider taking you back under one condition.
You have to pinky-pledge that you will be monogamous to me.
You will not have sex with anyone else. Do you understand me?
Dude, she looks like prepackaged meat from the supermarket.
Oh, god, has someone checked on the kids?
Pretty convenient that you're the one who found the body.
You're the darkest bitch of them all.
Those are some serious accusations, and they make no sense.
I would be opening myself up to a lot of trouble if I were to turn you in to the authorities.
It doesn't do any of us any good to start accusing each other with no evidence.
I suggest that we just have someone stand guard and watch me for the rest of the night, or until someone else dies, therefore proving that I am not the killer.
This feels so good.
I tried to scream, but nothing came out!
Interesting. That's all I'm gonna say. Interesting.
There is a trapdoor with, like, a tunnel system.
But wait, there are secret tunnels in this house perfect for a killer to use, and you neglected to tell us?
That's a little suspicious.
We are losing sight of the big picture here.
I'm not going down there. I do not dig on cobwebs, and I'm guessing there are loads of cobwebs down there.
If you get murdered in those tunnels, I promise I will never bang anyone harder than I banged you.
You're so rich and hot.
These are the nicest secret tunnels I've ever seen.
Wow. What amazing legacies they all have. What do you think ours will be?
If we can get through this year without everyone getting killed, I think we'll go down as the greatest of them all.
You came back for me.
Purely selfish.
You are probably the worst cop ever.
Wait, where are we going?
I won't go!
In three seconds, I'm gonna pick you up and carry you out of here.
I just kind of came over here because I farted over there and it smelled bad.
Wait, you're a lesbian?
Basically, I'm in love with love.
The next time I feel love for someone, I'm going to tell them. Right away. Just in case they're murdered before I can.
I just feel like I'm never gonna find a guy who likes me.
I'm a freak.
Nobody actually likes me.
You are totally gonna find another guy.
They're custom-made pink nunchaku.
Thank you for making that announcement that no one cared about.
No slumber party is finished without a kickass dance party.
This is so wonderfully random.
What a great way to pretend all these people we know weren't brutally murdered.

AU-gust: Walk a mile in my red boots
Read on AO3
No warnings
prompt no 8: Character Swap
Characters: Lila Pitts, Diego Hargreeves, Five Hargreeves
Relationship: Lila Pitts/Diego Hargreeves
-
“Five, I have to find him! I just don’t understand why you can’t see that!” Lila throws her hands up in the air, exasperation with her oldest brother hitting a boiling point.
She’s been having this argument for days now.
After they returned to 2019, to an empty mansion, no mom, no Pogo, they had spent a good few days talking about what they had experienced and how they would go on. It didn’t take too long for them to split up, though. Allison wanted to get to LA as quickly as possible to see Claire and Vanya decided to travel with her. Having left Sissy back in Dallas and learning about how her life had been leading up to her causing multiple apocalypses had been tough on her, and she said she needed some time to re-evaluate where her life should go.
Lila isn’t ready to let go of her experiences back in Dallas yet, though. She feels like it’s her responsibility to find Diego and see if he’s ok.
“Lila, he’s a lunatic who manipulated you and tried to kill our siblings. Really, really wants me dead! Why are you so desperate to go after him? What are you going to do if he tries to hurt you? You know there’s not that much you can do if we're not there for you to copy our powers. And Diego’s a highly trained assassin!” Five is trying to be understanding, but Lila can tell by the way he’s bouncing on the balls of his feet that he’s going to try any tactic he can to dissuade her.
“God, Five, why don’t you get it? You told me all about the loneliness you experienced in the apocalypse. Diego’s just lost everything. Everything he believed in has been taken away from him, I can’t imagine a place more lonely than that, except for the apocalypse, maybe. And I know he’s dangerous, but I don’t believe he’ll hurt me. And wouldn’t you rather know where he is and what he’s up to than have to wonder whether he might not come back to finish the job?” Lila knows that’s a low blow but she’s desperate. She can’t quite put into words why she feels so strongly that she has to find him, she just knows that she does.
“I’d like to see him try,” Five mumbles off to the side, but Lila can see that she’s slowly getting through to him.
It’s not like she needs his permission. She helped the little gerbil from the Commission, she’s sure she can wangle a favor out of him, she doesn’t need Five. But after everything they’ve been through, she’d much rather he was on her side on this one.
There’s a tense moment between them and then Five lets go of a long breath and nods once and Lila smiles broadly at her brother.
Before leaving the kitchen she ruffles his hair and earns herself a pretty hard slap to the hand in return.
-
In the end it’s not hard to find him.
Of course Herb has been keeping tabs on him. Not only is Diego a rogue Commission agent now, but the new interim head of the board is genuinely sympathetic towards the catastrophic loss Diego’s experienced and when Lila makes contact with Herb, he presses a pre-programmed briefcase into her hands and wishes her good luck.
-
Lila studies the sign outside the cantina. Her Spanish is a little rusty but she’s quite certain that it says no women are allowed inside.
Well, fuck that.
Usually she’s not too concerned about local customs, different strokes for different folks and all that. And it’s not like she’s traveled, really, outside of missions with the Umbrella Academy when they were children. But this sign can fuck right off. She hasn’t come all this way to find Diego to be turned away by outdated gender norms.
So she walks in holding her head up high and instantly draws everybody’s attention.
But all she can focus on is the figure that scrambles in a blur to what seems to be the back of the large room with its wooden ceilings.
He’s out of sight before she can even start running, but in her pursuit she swipes a knife off of a table and flings it out of the back door before she sprints through it herself.
She hasn’t had any real opportunity to practice using this power as she only found out Diego had it when he had repelled Vanya’s attack and had toyed with Five by whizzing a knife fractions of inches away from his head when they were fighting in the barn. At least that’s how Five tells it.
Well, Lila decides to simply wing it. Intuition has always served her quite well in copying her siblings’ powers, so why not now?
And at the same time as she bolts out the back door, she hears the sound of a knife imbedding itself in a clay wall and a loud yelp.
She turns to the noise and there he is, knife pinning his jacket to the wall, a line of blood welling up along the tear in the material - oops - and he has her leveled with a deadly glare. But he doesn’t move, just stares her down.
“Gotcha!” Lila says, trying to ease the tension between them, she thinks she deserves at least a bit of co-operation from him, seeing as she de-escalated the fight between Diego and Five back in Sissy’s barn. With her words no less!
“What the fuck are you doing here?” Diego spits out at her, his expression still murderous, but he also still hasn’t moved, so Lila continues approaching slowly while she says, “Oh you know, I’ve been jonesing for a bit of a holiday so I thought to myself ‘Where’s that bastard who played and manipulated me while I was at one of the lowest points of my life? Would really like to know what he’s up to these days.’”
For a second something almost a bit like guilt flashes across Diego’s face, but then his scowl deepens and he doesn’t say anything, nor does he make a move.
So Lila chances it and steps up to him, only to regret that the second he pulls the knife pinning him out of the wall, launches himself at her, slams her back against the wall and presses the knife to her throat.
Shit, she may have misjudged this. Maybe snark wasn’t the right choice after all.
There was a time when she thought he was quite charmed by her sharp tongue, but right now she remembers that she can’t actually be too sure about anything concerning Diego. However, there’s a feeling deep down inside of her that still believes that he won’t actually hurt her, but maybe Five is right and she’s just desperately naive.
Diego is towering over her breathing heavily, not from exertion, but clearly from rage.
“Why the fuck are you here, Lila? Is that little murderer you call a brother with you? Cause he can see what he gets for hunting me down!” he snarls.
Entirely out of options Lila decides the only way forward is with the truth. “Five’s not here. I came alone.” Oh you idiot, the voice in her head that sounds a little too much like Five chimes in. “Came to make sure you were ok,” she says, staring up at him imploringly.
That’s clearly not what he expected as she can feel his forearm twitch where he has it pressed to her collarbone and his grip on the knife at her throat falters for a second.
“Why?” he whispers. For the first time she feels like there might be a tiny bit of uncertainty in his voice.
“Cause you’re all alone, Diego, and I made you a promise and I’m not sure you really heard me… you know, the whole family thing?” Lila had made an impassioned speech back at the barn, but even though every word had been completely sincere, she feels a little awkward about the whole thing now.
A nasty grin stretches across Diego’s lips and he sneers, “I don’t believe for a second that all of your siblings feel the same way. Doubt they’ve forgotten about how I tried to kill them. Came pretty close, as well! And what the fuck makes you think I’d even want to be part of your family, anyway?”
He’s leaning against her heavily now and Lila knows he’s trying to intimidate her, but if he wanted to hurt her he would have already done so. Clearly he’s not actually willing to just leave this conversation either.
“They’ll get over themselves,” she says with as casual a shrug as she can manage with a knife to her throat, “and I care about you, Diego, the same way I think you care about me. And I don’t believe you actually want to be alone. But beyond that, it’s up to you.”
At her words she sees something crumble behind his eyes and suddenly they seem to fill with unshed tears. “Jesus, Lila, I drugged you and took you to the Commission against your will. You’re fucking crazy to be anywhere near me!”
“Yeah you did. And maybe I am. But what can you do?” Lila just says gently.
Apparently that’s how easy it is. Diego closes his eyes, presumably to stop the tears from falling, tips forward, and knocks his forehead against hers.
Then the knife is gone and Lila uses the opportunity to wrap her arms around him and he melts into her hug.
And while they stand there, Lila with her back against the wall, slightly struggling to hold a sobbing Diego upright, she rubs soothing circles into his back and whispers into his ear, “It’s gonna be alright! We can make it alright, I promise!”

Killing Me Softly Sequel!
Yandere Hoseok x Reader ; BTS Member x Reader
Rating: Mature
Word Count: 5,626
Release Date: December 21st, 2019 @ 12 am (GMT-4)
Three years. It took three years for some semblance of normality to return to your life. It took three years for you to begin to see the world, not by it’s bad but it’s good. Three years and you were finally moving on. Three years wasn’t enough to stop his obsession. After three years, he was tired of waiting - you would finally be his.
Trigger Warning: The following story contains mentions of manipulation, abuse, harassment, and child k*dnapping. The behavior and mindset of the characters in this will be incredibly yandere and toxic. This is a work of fiction and doesn’t represent the character of bangtan sonyeondan. Enjoy ~~~
The last person you expected to see standing at the foot of your bed was Park Jimin. His hair had grown, but the blonde locks didn’t roughen him up, if anything they made him even more beautiful. A maniacal grin had spread his cheekbones wide apart and crinkled his eyes, it was as if the past three years had never occurred. You were beginning to wonder if prison had been nothing more than a temporary home for the men - and not the terrible punishment for actions you assumed it would be. “What? Didn’t you miss me?” He pouted, lips stretched out sensually. Park Jimin had always been aware of his allure. Even now when you were absolutely terrified of him, a part of you longed to kiss those lips. At your lack of response, Jimin rolled his eyes and walked to the side of your bed where he had better access to you. The closer he got the more you tried to wriggle away, but your attempts were useless Jimin grabbed your legs and pulled you towards him with ease. Not noticing, or caring, how unwilling you were to be touched by him.
“Now now. It’s best you behave. Wouldn’t want someone to be punished by your recklessness, would you?” He tilted his head pointing towards your nightstand, and your eyes dragged to the framed picture of Sun-Hi and you at the beach. That was all it took to set you off. You desperately tried to push against him and tried to hit him with your bound hands, exhaustion had worn away, as had fear. All you were concerned about now was about getting your daughter away from the lunatics that had ruined your life. “I swear to god if you touch a hair on her head -” Jimin laughed. A boisterous ‘ha ha ha’ sort of laugh. “Calm down momma bear. I won’t hurt our little girl, what kind of man do you think I am?” You hadn’t missed the ‘our.’ None of them knew whose daughter it was, that meant none of them would hurt Sun-Hi...for now. Jimin bent down to meet your eyes, “God how I missed you.” It was whispered so quietly, almost as if he was speaking to himself. His hand caressed your cheek softly, “I almost went mad when I thought we’d lost you and then we did.” He sounded so broken. You thought for a second you could see tears brimming in his eyes, but assumed it was a trick of the light.
“When you left, the first time, I didn’t know what to do with myself. But then we got you back just like Hoseok-Hyung said we would, only to lose you again.” He had stopped caressing your cheek. The hand now beginning to tighten on your jaw. “Do you know what it was like all those years? Without you? Without them?” All the sadness in his eyes had quickly disappeared and was suddenly filled with an intense rage. “Jimin - ” You tried to speak, but his hand only kept tightening on your jaw, forcing you to remain quiet. “I had to stand trial and listen to them call me a pimp, a kidnapper,” By now he had abandoned your jaw and instead had grabbed your clothes, hoisting you up in front of him. “A fucking rapist, Y/n. That’s what they said. They said we raped you.”Jimin yelled, his face mere centimeters from yours. Tears were now flowing freely down his face. Park Jimin had never been more broken or terrifying than he was to you at that moment. “You know what the worst part was? You never showed up. Not even once.” His voice had lowered significantly until he was whispering again. “You see that’s what really killed me. You didn’t even care enough to show up.”
Jimin threw you back onto the bed as if you weighed nothing. As if you were nothing. “I’m sorry Jimin. I was scared. I was so scared.” The words tumbled out of your mouth, as you sought a way to console him. “I- I-” You wracked your brain trying to find something, anything, that would help you get out of this situation. That would help your daughter get out of this situation. “I was afraid for Sun-Hi.” Jimin who had been pacing back and forth trying to control his anger came to a halt. His brows furrowed and confusion flashed in his eyes, “What?” This was it. “When I found out I was pregnant I freaked out.” Your hands began to tremble and you tried to interlace them together to make it less noticeable. “I wanted to tell you, but then I heard about the fighting. About how all of you were pinning the blame on each other and I was nervous.” Your eyes danced around the floor, as you tried to come up with something else. One more detail to make the lie seem believable. By now Jimin had begun to approach you, time was running out.
“I thought that if you found out I was pregnant by one of you. Then the rest would be mad and…” Jimin sighed, a small smile on his face. “You don’t have to be worried about that Y/n. After all, you can always have more kids.” Whatever little hope you had to reason with the madman died then and there. It appeared absence did make the heart grow fonder, for all of the men seemed more obsessed with you than ever before. “Jimin, where is Sun-Hi?” He shrugged before turning around and walking around your room, taking in his surroundings. “With her dad. Making up for lost time.” You jumped at his statement, “How do you know Hoseok is her dad?” Jimin chuckled though it lacked warmth, “Of course she would be his. You love him the most, it only makes sense.” No, that wasn’t it. It couldn’t be. “We also had a paternity test done this morning.” He casually added, as if it was a comment on the weather. “What?!” How had Hoseok even had the resources to do something like that? How had the rest of them when they were in prison? As if Jimin could read your mind, he answered all your questions.
“You’d be surprised what money can buy. Honestly, it wasn’t too bad. We all had our private cells, had food delivered, could read or watch television. Shit, the guards even looked the other way when one of us felt lonely and sought the other out.” It was a harsh slap of reality, but it was one that you needed. The system had failed you. They were supposed to keep you safe, but now you were tied on your bed with your daughter missing and the men who claimed to love you bringing havoc upon your life once more. Maybe things would be different if you had chosen a different path?
A phone went off startling you out of your thoughts, a smile broke out onto Jimin’s face. “Hi, sweetheart. How are you?” Immediately you tried to lunge at him but remembered that your feet were bound once your face hit the floor. Jimin tried to stifle his laughter, “I’m just here with Mommy. She’s talking about how much she misses you, maybe if she’s good you’ll see her soon.” You glared at Jimin with all the willpower you could muster, but it seemed to affect him very little. “You want to tell her goodnight? Um, I’m not sure Mommys' awfully busy. She’s all tied up now.” He giggled at his own little joke. “Jimin, please. Please let me speak to her.” You begged and even tried to crawl your way towards him, you couldn’t care less about how pathetic you looked groveling at his feet. “Hm…” His finger tapped against his chin, simulating deep thought. “You know what Sun-Hi, it seems Mommy can speak with you now.” Jimin crouched down and pressed the speaker button.
Nothing could be heard until a shy sleepy “Mommy?” was mumbled. You almost burst out into tears again. “Hi sunshine.” You tried to keep your tone light, but it took what little strength you had to do it. “Momma when are you coming? I miss you.” She extended the last part in a whine. Sun-Hi had a habit of becoming grouchy when she was tired. You tried to blink the tears away before Jimin could see them, but his eyes were glued to your face. Gauging you for any sudden movements or decisions, you decided to test your luck. “Mommy’s on her way. You’ll see me the second you wake up tomorrow morning.” Jimin’s tsked. “Really? I can’t wait. I miss you so much Mommy and so does Daddy.” You didn’t know how to respond to that. “Good night, baby. Sweet dreams.” Sun-Hi responded back enthusiastically, though you could still hear the sleep in her voice. “Goodnight Sunshine. Uncle Jimin will see you soon.” Then he hung up.
“Why sunshine?” Hoseok turned towards you, a confused yet intrigued smile on his face. You, on the other hand, were desperately trying to hide your reddened cheeks in his chest, whilst also making a grab for your phone. “I don’t know. It’s just a nickname.” You once again tried to reach for your phone but Hoseok easily outmaneuvered you. Your phone was being held above his head and his other hand had crept towards the back of your neck. “Nope. Baby or Babe would be a nickname.” He slightly pulled away, so that he could see your face. “But sunshine. That has to have meaning behind it.” If possible your cheeks became even redder. Hoseok laughed and tenderly kissed your lips, you melted into him like butter. You always wondered how he managed to do that to you - make you forget everything but him. Refusing to let the playful air die he continued, “Is it because I light up every room I walk into?” His eyebrow cocked and a teasing smile made its way onto his lips. “Shut up.” You rolled your eyes, playfully shoving him. “Or could it be because your world revolves around me?” Hoseok's smile only grew wider as you scoffed, “As if.” His hands trailed down towards your ass, where they rested before giving a firm squeeze. You jumped in surprise. “Is it because I’m hot?” He whispered into your ear, trying to be seductive.
You shoved him back softly, “Don’t flatter yourself. It’s just a nickname.” You tried to play it cool, refusing to let him know the effect he had on you even if it was far too late already. “Oh, so what, you call all your boyfriends Sunshine?” He was still trying to tease you, keep the mood light. But of course, you were far too worried about your feelings being exposed, especially when Hoseok wasn’t interested in you that way. “You aren’t even my boyfriend.” It had slipped out before you could even register what you had said. “What?” His voice had dropped several octaves, the way it usually did when he was angry. Immediately you turned around, holding your hands up. “I didn’t mean it like that. I meant that you’re special and - ” Hoseok was smiling, but it didn’t reach his eyes. “Cut the crap, sweetheart. I know what you meant.” It was moments like these that you wondered exactly what you were doing. Moments like these when you were afraid of him but didn’t know why. “I’m sorry Hobi. I really am. I made a mistake, it won’t happen again.” You reached out to touch him, but he recoiled as if disgusted by your touch. “Don’t ever say that again. You have no idea how special you are to me. I would do anything for you.” You nodded at his words and kept apologizing. Too naive to understand the weight behind what he said until it was far too late.
Jimin hadn’t trusted you enough to tell you where you were going. After, the call ended he merely threw you over his shoulders and back onto the bed, before disappearing into your closet. He emerged a few minutes later with your emergency suitcase, then he went out of the room into the one across. Coming back in with a small bag and Sun-Hi’s favorite stuffed animal a blue-ish horse with its nose in the shape of a heart. It worried you, the ease with which he had been able to know which toy to take, Sun-Hi’s bed was littered with them. Yet, he had known. “One more thing before we go.” Jimin had your phone in the palm of his hand, he flashed it in your face before the screen unlocked for him. “You’re going to call the police officer and say Sun-Hi has been returned and that the search can be called off. You’re also going to say that you’ve decided to take a break from the city given everything, but that you’ll be back in his office Monday morning to discuss everything.” He didn’t even give you a chance to agree, before dialing the number and holding it up to your ear.
After three rings, the gruffy voice of Officer Park answered, “Hello, Park speaking.” You repeated everything Jimin had told you to say, never straying from the script as his eyes bore mercilessly into yours. A part of you prayed that the officer would notice how strange all of this was, how calm your tone was compared to hours before. “Well alright child. I’ll see you Monday then.” The click signifying the end of the call was almost mocking. A scream threatened to claw its way out of your throat, but you swallowed it back. “Now that’s done.” Jimin turned off your phone before slamming it to the ground and stepping on it. There was so much force and aggression in every one of his movements you forgot the man in front of you was capable of being sweet, had been sweet, until he lost you. An uncomfortable feeling set in as you finally became aware of something: this isn’t like the last time. There’s no escape now.
Kim Namjoon toyed with the device in his hand, he wasn’t supposed to have it. Not really. But the guards had looked the other way whenever he and his lovers came into possession of certain items, as long as their pockets were lined with money they didn’t really give a damn. They hadn’t even been aggressive to them the first day, a little rough but that was nothing more than a scare tactic. The device vibrated in his hand and Namjoon unlocked it, reading the singular text.
Unknown: It’s been dealt with.
Namjoon smirked, he placed the phone under his pillow - if it could be called that - and laid on his side as images of what might happen next played in his head. Jungkook had been ecstatic during dinner today, barely able to contain himself until he saw his Hyungs. He’d spilled all the juicy details about how you’d finally come to visit him and how you hadn’t denied that Sun-Hi was theirs. Jungkook was practically bouncing with joy, and it would be a lie to say the youngest’s enthusiasm wasn’t contagious. It had been rough in the beginning, the idiotic lawyers they hired suggested that it would be better if they put the blame on each other rather than be tried as a group. Coming up with varying statements that clashed made it difficult for the prosecution to convince the jury, not to mention the lack of evidence. Namjoon had always been a cautious man, but even he made mistakes - he let his guard down around you. That wouldn’t happen again.
The device vibrated again, Namjoon frowned before his hand slipped under his pillow to drag the device out. This time it was two texts, each which sent him over the moon in different ways. Namjoon went to bed that night entirely anxious for the good news the morning might bring. Positive that for the first time in three years things would go his way.
Lawyer Lee: The committee has agreed to a hearing. If all goes well, you’ll be out of there in no time.
Jiminie: I’ve got her. We’re on our way now.
You could distantly pick up on the rhythmic sound of waves crashing, the roar of the ocean and wind arousing you from a deep slumber you didn’t even know you’d fallen into. As you stretch out your limbs, only to not feel them bound, another more quiet sound could be heard in the distance. It was giggling, the small bell-like laughter that could only come from a child, you tore your eyes open and tried to leap off of wherever you were only to be stopped by a hand wrapping around your forearm. There he stood, the man of your dreams, father of your child, and tormentor of your dreams. A pregnant silence hung between the two of you, as one waited for the other to speak. It was Sun-Hi’s giggles that broke the tension, your eyes darting past him towards the window. Outside in the gloomy weather, you could see Sun-Hi running around the beach smiling and laughing, whilst Jimin tried to catch her. Sun-Hi was always a bright child, but she seemed to radiate like never before. Hoseok cleared his throat drawing your attention back to him. Unconsciously you flinched, prepared for anything he might throw at you.
Instead, Hoseok only sighed, leaning forward to press a chaste kiss on your forehead. “I’ve missed you. I’m so glad you’re home.” You would always wonder how he managed to disarm you in less than ten words. A moan of pain escaped you, as he continued his assault. “I’ve longed for so long to hold you in my arms, Y/n. I nearly went mad.” His hand skimmed all over your body, but his touch was soft - as if you were made of glass. Of paper. “Seeing Sun-Hi grow up without knowing her dad and how much he loved her…you can’t imagine how much that hurt me.” It was as if every time he opened his mouth, he plunged even more daggers into your heart. He wouldn’t stop until you admitted your guilt, so you finally decided to spare your pride. “I love you Hoseok. I always have, I just…” don’t love them. Not the way you want me too. Tears streamed down your face and sobs violently shook your body.
“I can’t be with them, Hoseok. I’m sorry I can’t.”
He shook his head, hands coming up to cup your cheeks. “But you love me, don’t you? Wouldn’t you do anything for me?” Yes. Yes. Yes. “But not that.” Any sympathy Hoseok may have felt for you or shown you, dissipated. “We’re a package deal, Y/n.” His voice lacked any warmth. Your time was running out and you found yourself at a fork in the road: one decision would damn your soul, but the other your heart. So you tried to reason with him, not for you but for the only other thing you could find, “What about Sun-Hi? She won’t understand. She has friends, classmates,” You desperately pleaded, “She might not understand why she suddenly can’t go back to that life anymore.” Hoseok only laughed at your worries, “She’s three Y/n. The only thing she needs is her parents, a roof over her head, food, and love and affection. She has plenty of that to go around.”
Alright, so option two then. You let out a long sigh and sat back on the bed seemingly resigned. “Please let me see her.” Hoseok raised an eyebrow as he folded his arms across his chest. “She’s my daughter, dammit. Let me see her.” You yelled at him, a mixture of frustration and exhaustion causing more tears to flow. He crouched in front of you, his hand tucking a loose strand of hair behind your ear. “Not like this, you’ll scare her. Let’s get you cleaned up, okay?” The Hoseok you knew was back: your sweet, loving, affectionate sunshine. You melted like putty in his hands as he escorted you to the bathroom, giving you your privacy but making sure you knew not to take too long. On the way there you passed another window, one that displayed a narrow road shrouded with long trees on either side. Deja-vu welled up in you. You’d been here before.
“Mommy! Mommy!” Sun-Hi ran straight into your arms, her short stature and low-weight making it easy for you to pick her up with ease. “Oh, my baby. How I’ve missed you.” You kissed her face all over, as she tried to push you away softly. “Look, Mommy. I found a seashell.” The shell in her hand was white with a bold stripe of grey running through it. “It’s beautiful, Sun-Hi.” Her cheeks reddened at the compliment before her eyes caught onto someone else. “Look, Daddy. I found a seashell.” Sun-Hi was desperate to be free of your arms, so she could run into her father’s, so you set her down with much reluctance. Immediately Hoseok scooped her up, congratulating her and blowing raspberries on her stomach until your child was hollering with laughter. “Aw aren’t they the cutest.” Immediately, you stilled as Jimin wrapped his arms around your waist. “I can’t wait until that’s us.” He murmured in your ear, lightly nipping at the lobe until it became red and you lightly hissed. Satisfied with your response, Jimin chuckled before making his way over to Hoseok before whispering something in his ear and kissing Sun-Hi on the cheek.
“Uncle Minnie will be back soon, okay?” He spoke, the toddler nodding before returning her attention to her father. Hoseok nodded at Jimin before both of the men’s eyes landed on you. Jimin walked towards you, gripping the back of your neck and harshly planting his lips on yours. “See you later, Darling.” With that he walked out the door, leaving the three of you all alone as you planned your escape.
A children’s movie played on the television which took up much of the wall. You recognized the bright colors and cheery music, it was your daughter’s favorite - it seems he knew even that too. Sun-Hi was between the two of you, eyes glued to the screen, with you on her left and Hoseok on the other side. His arm was thrown over the back of the couch, whenever you shifted too suddenly for his liking he would grip your shoulder. Other than that, it was a nice normal evening. You had to act fast. “Are you hungry, Sun-Hi?” She briefly turned towards you, nodding before gluing her eyes back to the screen. “Hoseok,” you whispered trying to draw his attention, not that it wasn’t already on you. “She has to eat.” You didn’t give him a chance to respond and made your way towards the kitchen, opening the fridge as you pretended to search for food. When you didn’t find anything useful, you opened the drawers and cabinets.
“I told Jimin to bring food.” His voice startled you. Of course, he wouldn’t leave you alone, you had counted on as much. “She needs to eat real food, not takeout. I can cook.” You began to rummage again, this time finding some beef, pasta, and tomato sauce. “See look. I’ll have it done in no time.” You crouched down to search for a pot or pans and were beyond relieved when you found them. Fingers danced along your sides, as Hoseok came to rest his head above your shoulder. “Y/n. Don’t treat me like a fool.” Your hand tightly gripped the metal handle on the black pan. You would wait patiently and then hit him over the head with it. One blow, maybe two, and you would be able to escape. Hoseok sighed, “I think there are several things you’ve left unaccounted: for one, Jimin might be on his way. Two, Sun-Hi might not react in a positive way of seeing mommy bash daddy’s head in.” Your grip wavered.  Focus Y/n. This is what he wants.
You refused to reply, to play his games. You should’ve known better. “Turn around.” It was an order, something not to be disobeyed. Yet, you stood your ground. His lips ghosted the shell of your ear, hot breath fanning it. “Please, darling. Please~” He all but whined, but it was obviously a farce. You swallowed thickly and tightened your grip on the steel pan. It seems Hoseok had enough, “There are other ways for me to punish you now…” His voice trailed off, clearly implying something. That was only confirmed when his head moved from your shoulder to glance back at your daughter. Immediately you turned around. Just one strike and he’s out. Hoseok saw the fire glowing in your eyes and smirked, clearly enjoying this game. “I’ll tell you what, you can go.” What?! “What?” You spoke, shock evident on your features. For a brief moment, you forgot what you were planning to do and that was all he needed. Just a brief moment, to completely trap you in the intricate web they’d sewn together.
“You can leave. I know that’s what you want. To run far away from here with Sun-Hi and never see each other again. If that’s what you truly want Y/n. I’ll give that to you.” Hoseok leaned back against the countertop, “Go do it now before Jimin comes back. He’s only ten minutes out, but if you head east you’ll find the main street and I’m sure you’ll be able to figure it out from there.” There was nothing in his voice or eyes to indicate that he was toying with you. Nothing in his beautiful hazel eyes that displayed anything other than honestly. “Why?” You should’ve known better than to question things, you should’ve just taken Sun-Hi and runaway. Unbeknownst to you, a step was taken to close the gap between the two of you. You were still reaching for him - longing for him. You still loved him.
Hoseok rolled his eyes, as if the answer was the most obvious thing in the world. “Because my love for you will never die. No matter what.” The distance between the two of you, which was short, to begin with, kept decreasing. “I know you better than anyone else does Y/n. When the going gets tough you run; from responsibility, affection, love. But I also know that you are one of the most selfless people I know.” Hoseok took another step forward, this time your chests were touching and your faces mere centimeters apart. “You would never sacrifice someone else’s happiness for your own well-being.” You should’ve known better than to believe he’d show you mercy. No. This is what he’d been waiting for all along, the moment he could use your biggest weakness against you. “You can run away, but we’ll always chase. You’ll never have a normal life… and neither will your daughter.” The frying pan slipped from your hand, the loud ‘clang’ it made echoing loudly against the room. Sun-Hi was clearly frightened, she jumped off the couch and ran towards you. “Mommy, are you okay?” Her soft chubby hands wrapped around yours as she gazed up at Hoseok. He smiled reassuringly, “The pan was just too heavy so it fell.”
Sun-Hi looked up at Hoseok, her brow furrowed in confusion before she looked at you again. It took all your strength not to break under her innocent gaze, you had experienced so much growing up you couldn’t bear to have her live through even a quarter of it. Aren’t parents supposed to provide a better life for their kids? You owed her that much. Slowly, you crouched in front of her a forced smile on your face. “That’s right it was just too heavy. Don’t worry sweetheart, I’m alright.” After a couple of seconds, the toddler nodded seemingly accepting what she had been told at face value. She was barely a child and couldn’t understand that not everything was as it seems, you didn’t want her to lose that innocence just yet. “Go back and finish watching the movie. Mommy and Daddy will be there shortly.” You gently guided her out of the kitchen, content when she returned to her previous spot and focused on the graphics in front of her.
All you could do was stare at her from the threshold, wishing things were different. Wanting to have made better choices. Regretting certain decisions. Your time had passed, things were no longer about you - nor could they ever be any more. Hoseok stood beside you observing Sun-Hi with a tender smile on his cheek, “No harm will ever come to her. She’ll grow up loved and cared for, just like you should’ve been.” Cautiously he pecked your cheek, pleased when you didn’t recoil away. Not that you could, you had become numb to it. The decision you made settling deep into your core. Hoseok’s fingers hooked under your chin and forced you to look at him, “Come on now, sunshine. Don’t you love me?” Once again, he managed to disarm you with so little effort. You practically melted into his arms.
Lights suddenly shone from outside, before they suddenly disappeared. The door opened a couple of minutes later and in strolled Park Jimin with two bags of takeout and a new stuffed toy for his favorite niece. Jimin would make it a habit to always bring something home for Sun-Hi, until the day when he brought something for his own child. For now, he settled on the current situation though hope did bloom in his chest at the sight of your pouty lips pressed against Hoseok’s even if it was just for a second or two.
Monday morning rolled around and Officer Byunghoo Park sipped on his coffee as he waited for his next appointment to roll around. The Sun-Hi case had been an absolute disaster, but his commissioner didn’t seem the least bit concerned in a child disappearing only to be returned the same day. Nor did he seem to care that the child’s elusive mother had all but disappeared. To be fair, Park had his fair share of drinks that night and when his phone had rung at such a strange hour he picked up more out of a sense of duty than want. It should be of surprise to no one that he barely picked up on what the women said, it wasn’t until the next morning that he entered his office and saw the file that he recalled the strange conversation.
Immediately he attempted to contact you but had no luck. His partner was completely useless as always, but any questions he had would be answered today, in about ten minutes or so. A quick knock on the door, disturbed his train of thought before he grumbled a ‘come in.’ A well-dressed man in a tailored suit with a black briefcase entered the room, he gave a curt bow and introduced himself as Mr. Lee. “I’m here in place of Ms. Y/l/n. She didn’t feel safe coming in, I hope you understand.” Park furrowed his brows, “Why wouldn’t she feel comfortable? Her daughter’s back isn’t she?” The lawyer chuckled humorlessly, “Oh yes, especially after the kidnappers were caught. But still -” Park jumped out of his seat almost comically, “What do you mean the kidnappers were caught? I’m in charge of the investigation and have never heard about any of this?!” Lawyer Lee attempted to hide his disdain for the man, but his patience when dealing with cretins could only extend so far.
“Oh were you not aware that the Gangnam police were also running their own investigation? See the day-care from which the child was taken happens to lie right at the border between your jurisdiction and theirs, so they took up the case.” The words flowed so smoothly out of Lee’s mouth as if it were the most obvious thing. “I’m supposed to be notified when another sector wants to undergo the same investigation. Why wasn’t I notified?” Park scattered through his notes, searching for a map of the city and Gangnam’s contact information. “Now Mr. Park, I believe that is something you should take up with them. I’m nothing, but the messenger.” There was something Park didn’t like about Lee’s tone - the sardonic nature of it. As if he were speaking down to him. “The perpetrators turned themselves into Gangnam police and the child was returned.” Before anymore question could stumble out of Park’s mouth, Lee stood up and opened his briefcase taking out a manila envelope and placing it on the officer’s desk.
“I am sorry, but I do have a very important meeting with another client across town. Ms. Y/l/n only sent me here to say thank you for everything you’ve done. After all, because of your skills, her family is now reunited.” Lee bowed before quickly excusing himself. Park had wanted to question the man over the contents inside the bag but recalled encountering a similar situation on his past. He didn’t need to know what was inside the envelope, all he knew was what he needed to do. Rather quickly Park found Sun-Hi Y/l/n file and typed in whatever information he deemed fit, before moving his mouse over to a red button at the top corner. There was no hesitation in his clicking of ‘close.’ Nor in the depositing of the case file into the resolved folder. After all, your family was reunited once more - wasn’t that what you wanted in the first place? Who was he to question it?

A fenhawke one shot I wrote based on a prompt a friend sent me! I am currently living in fenhawke hell and loving every minute!!!
~~
They’re in Lowtown today looking for an Antivan merchant named Vincento. They find him in the bazaar selling odds and ends, broken plates of armor and dull daggers that make Isabela cringe. Hawke gets the information out of him easily, he’s not hard to startle, but it leads their search to a temporary dead end and Hawke is left standing in the street with her companions, watching as Vincento hurriedly packs up his pitiful wares and runs off towards the docks.
“Well,” Hawke sighs as she watches him scurry away. “That was helpful I suppose but Samson doesn’t come slinking out until after sunset. Should we head to the Hanged Man?”
“You know me Hawke,” Isabela says with a wink. “I’m always game to start drinking early.”
“Anders?”
He smiles his easy, gentle smile. “I could certainly go for a pint.”
“Only a pint, magey? What about a couple of shots and we see where you can put that staff of yours?” Isabela purrs, tugging on the collar of Ander’s coat.
He blushes and swats her hand away. “We’ve still got work to do, Isabela.”
The Rivani pouts. “All work and no play makes Anders a dull boy. What about you, Hawke? Up for shots and a bit of wrestling?”
“As long as we aren’t drinking rum I’m fine with whatever.” Hawke says, her eyes sweeping across the bazaar. “By the way, has anyone seen Fenris?”
Her companions shake their heads.
Hawke bites her lip and her hand twitches towards her staff. It’s midafternoon in Lowtown. Apart from the occasional pickpocket or footpad, Lowtown is normally peaceful during this time of day. It’s when night falls that you have to watch out for ambushes and bandits. She isn’t crazy, Fenris was just here. He’d been quiet the whole day, not very happy that she’d brought Anders along to find Feynriel, but he’d been by her side since early morning when they traveled to the alienage. It’s more likely he roamed off rather than some Lowtown cutthroat pulling him into the shadows.
Anders lets out a long sigh and leans against his staff. “I’m sure he’s just wandered off, Hawke. Probably to go piss in a corner like the dog he is.”
“Maker, Anders. Really?”
“Why don’t Anders and I head to the Hanged Man and you catch up when you find the pretty boy?” Isabela smiles, stepping between the two. “Sound like a plan?”
Hawke nods but she’s not really listening anymore, nor does she really care about Ander’s snide remarks. Isabela steers Anders in the direction of the Hanged Man while she scans the stalls again, looking for a familiar head of white hair among the midafternoon crowd. It’s hot today, even more so with the dozens of people who flit from stall to stall, and she sweats uncomfortably as she meanders through the crowd. Hawke checks the weapons stand first then the man who sells plated armor and robes. No luck.
She’s getting nervous now. Fenris never just wanders off. He’s quiet, sure, but he’s not one to just disappear into thin air without a reason. Hawke takes the steps up into the portion of the bazaar where vendors and shopkeepers sell spices, exotic fruits, brightly colored linens, and fresh meat. The smell here is different from the rest of Lowtown. That weird stretch that hangs over the city can’t seem to penetrate the aroma of cinnamon, incense, and cooking meat. She passes a vendor selling candles and body oils then another who’s handing out samples of whatever mystery meat he has roasting on a spit. She takes one and eats it, idly, as she shoulders her way through the throngs of people.
Finally, she sees him.
He’s tucked between a woman selling carpets and a family of dwarves hammering away at copper jewelry. Fenris is bent over a basket of fruit, something small and brown rolling around in his palm.
“There you are,” she says cheerily. “Thought I’d lost you to some Lowtown crime lord in the market for one glowy elf.”
Fenris glances over his shoulder. “I did not mean to worry you.”
She smiles, hoping it looks reassuring. “What did you find?”
He looks at his closed palm and frowns before opening his armored fingers to reveal a small brown fruit.
“What is this?” He asks, his brow furrowed.
Hawke laughs. “Why, it’s a kiwi. What, never seen a kiwi before?”
He shakes his head and Hawke feels a bit guilty for laughing. She hadn’t meant anything by it but Fenris’ look of bewilderment is just so...cute.
“And what is this?” He asks picking up a much larger fruit from the basket, this one in shades of red and yellow.
“It’s a mango,” she says. “Do they not eat fruit in Tevinter?”
Fenris shakes his head. “Danarius did not like foods like these.”
Hawke takes the kiwi from his palm and tosses it in the air. “Everyday I’m surprised by how much I can hate that man. Do you want to know a secret?”
Fenris looks up from the mango and nods. There’s a look of innocence on his face that makes Hawke’s heart beat fast in her chest. She leans in closer. He pulls back a bit but stops when he realizes she does not mean to touch him.
“When I first came to Kirkwall,” Hawke whispers. “I’d never seen food like this either. It’s not like mango trees and kiwi vines grow in Ferelden.”
He frowns again and looks back at the baskets of colorful fruit. He points to another, this one brown and fuzzy. “Did you know about those?”
“Coconuts?” She asks, following his finger. “I’d read about them in books.”
“Are they good?”
Hawke grins. “Do you want to try some?”
He nods and reaches for his coin purse but Hawke shakes her head. “I’m buying. Think of it as a thank you for saving my ass from that greatsword wielding bastard who almost cleaved my head in two yesterday.”
The corners of his mouth jerk as if to smile. “You should watch your right flank more closely.”
She shrugs. “I don’t have to if I’ve got you around.”
Maybe she’s imagining it, but Fenris’ cheeks turn pink. He looks away before she can be sure, once more bending over the baskets. She watches him sort through the different fruits, his careful fingers turning over mangoes and pomegranates, his touch gentle as if he is afraid the fruit might fall apart in his hands. She lets him pick whatever he wants and soon they have their own little basket overflowing with oranges, kiwis, pineapple, and a whole assortment of tropical fruits. She pays for it all like she promised, glad that he’ll at least allow her perform this simple act of friendship. Fenris doesn’t like actions he perceives as pity. Hawke wonders if this means he trusts her more, maybe thinks of her more as a friend rather than a raging apostate lunatic.
He tucks the basket under his arm proudly and Hawke’s heart does that weird fluttering thing again. Maker, she can’t be possibly falling for him, can she? That’s insane. Like he would share her affections anyway, he hates all things magic and she’s about as magic as they come save for Anders. But lately she’s noticed her cheeks growing warm when he smiles and a giddiness coursing through her veins when she sees him after several days away from the city. She hasn’t dared act on these feelings, afraid she’ll scare him off if she bats her eyelashes a little too hard. She wants him to know she’s a friend, not someone who feels sorry for him, not someone who wants to use him.
He surprises her when he gently touches her shoulder then points to an empty place on the steps. “Would you...like to sit down for a moment?”
Hawke nods. Her skin tingles where he touched her and she doesn’t trust her voice not to waver so she follows him to the stairs and sits beside him. She makes sure not to sit too close, but not too far away either. He seems comfortable, excited even, as he sets down the basket and grabs one of the kiwi.
“How do you eat it?”
“Well,” Hawke smiles, taking the fruit from his palm. “I normally cut it in half then scoop it out with a spoon but we can do this instead.”
She takes her dagger from her boot, thanking the Maker she decided to clean off the raider blood this morning, and peels away the thin skin. She glances up at Fenris as she cuts a slice. His eyes are wide in wonder.
“Here,” she says, offering him the slice off her dagger.
He has removed his spiked gauntlets so that his hands are bare. She marvels at his long tan fingers, his gentleness as he grabs the fruit. She has never seen his bare hands this close. The lyrium markings stretch down his fingers; white, silvery lines that she cannot help but think are beautiful despite their foul origin. He pops the kiwi in his mouth and his eyes go wide.
“It is good!” He announces, his lips stretching into a grin.
Hawke smiles and cuts herself a piece. “I think It’s one of my favorites.”
“It is sour,” he says, licking the juice from his fingers. “But also sweet.”
“We got a ripe one. Good eyes, Fen.” She says, bumping him playfully with her arm. She doesn’t realize what she has done until after several seconds pass and he has not leapt away from her sudden touch. He seems shocked at his own reaction as well, his fingers hovering over the kiwi she has offered him.
“I’m sorry.” She says, glancing up at him, under her lashes.
His fingers twitch as if coming back to life and he takes the fruit and chews it slowly. “You did nothing wrong.” He says simply.
The tension between her shoulder blades relaxes. “Do you...want to try something else? What about the orange? We can save the pineapple for later.”
He nods and wipes his hands on his trousers before reaching for the orange. He turns it around in his hands then offers it to her. “How do you eat this one?”
Hawke sets down her knife. “This one is easy. I’ll let you do it. Dig your fingernail in right there and then peel the skin back.”
“Here?”
Hawke raches out and with her own nail she makes a mark in the soft flesh. Her hand passes over his and her skin brushes against his own, the touch featherlight but enough to send electricity running down her arms. He flexes his fingers. Did he feel it too? She dares to look up at him, blue eyes connecting with green. That flush is back in his cheeks and Hawke realizes they are very close, so close she can smell him. He smells like leather and cloves and sweat. She takes a deep breath and holds it, committing the scent to memory.
Fenris blinks, his dark eyelashes fluttering. He rips his gaze away from her own, the action painfully slow. Her eyes linger on him for a moment longer before she looks back down at the orange. He begins pulling back the skin, the orange peel falling to the steps unceremoniously. He hands her a chunk of the soft fruit and they eat together. He smiles.
“It explodes in your mouth,” he says. “The juice is sweet.”
She nods. “We had oranges back in Lothering. They somehow could make the journey that far inland. If times were good Mother would  buy enough oranges to make a pitcher of juice.”
His eyes go wide. “And that is good?”
“I honestly think it is better than the oranges themselves. I’ll ask Mother to make you some. We haven’t had it in awhile anyway.”
“That would be nice.”
He smiles softly and they finish the rest of the orange in silence. She feels their small moment coming to a close and she hopes there are more moments like this in their future. For once, Fenris is unguarded, happy. Again she finds herself damning Danarius, hating him with every fiber of her being. He took so much from Fenris. Can she help him create a life? A life that he can call his own, one without masters and bad memories? Will these small moments eventually turn into longer ones? Or will the pain she sees etched on his face refuse to leave him?
She feels his walls go back up as he slips on his guantlants and fastens the leather straps. Hawke clears her throat and wipes her hands down her trousers, trying to find that easy grin she plasters on her face for the rest of the world to see.
“I told Anders and Isabela we would meet them in the Hanged Man.” She says, standing to her full height and stretching her arms above her head.
“Was it a wise decision to leave them alone?” Fenris asks, his lips turned up in a slight smile.
“Probably not!” She says brightly. “We might have to peel their drunk asses off the floor of the barroom! At least Varric will be around to help.”
Fenris chuckles and tucks the basket under his arms. “If that is the case, then we must hurry before they are too far gone. Lead the way, Hawke.”
Hawke turns on her heel and heads back into the bazaar towards the Hanged Man where she is sure her friends have already found themselves in some sort of trouble. She glances over her shoulder, making sure she hasn’t lost him in the crowd. He’s close. Her eyes catch his own and there is a moment that passes between them that she doesn’t think can be mistaken for anything but longing. She turns her head before it can disappear. A smile breaks on her lips and she welcomes her fluttering heartbeat.

Writer's Month 2020
Day 31: There was only one bed
I made it! This is the last story for the month. I'm glad I tried the challenge.
This one is long. It's something I've been playing around with for a while. There's a teeny bit of romantic action between the two dudes. ❤️❤️❤️
I should add that the Iggy anecdotes are things that I've read in bio books, or things he's said in interviews.
Forgot to say earlier: thanks @ledbythreads for the sanity check on this. 😁❤️
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
They faced each other on opposite sides of the king-sized bed. They were both naked and hot after what had just transpired with Alice, and as neither of them was especially modest, neither of them thought much about it.
"Did you see how Alice made her way to the bathroom? Could barely walk!" Iggy laughed his unnerving cackle. "I've never seen a groupie look so ecstatic when we walked back here. Like she'd just won the fucking lottery."
"Not so loud, Ig! This isn't the bloody locker room." Robert's admonition came in a harsh whisper. "But I am proud of my work. Always am." Robert swept his damp curls out of his face and a beamed with a big Cheshire grin.
"She should be proud of her work, too… Would've sucked my soul out, if I had one to spare." Iggy rolled his eyes backward and opened his mouth wide in an exaggerated dramatization of his climax moments before. "Thanks for inviting me back here with her. Real nice of you to share."
Robert laughed at Iggy's joking, rubber face, but the hilarity faded when he noticed how genuine Iggy's gratitude was, and how intently he was paying attention to Robert all of a sudden. There was still amusement in Iggy's eyes, but Robert swore he saw flirtation in the pouty set of Iggy's lips. He realized he found it hard to take his eyes off the devilish little dynamo at the other side of the bed. That bastard always knew how to court attention, Robert thought, having read about Stooges shows and hearing wild word-of-mouth stories from groupies he and Iggy had in common. Guerrilla tactics, on and off the stage. A pint-sized, silver-haired man-child with a heart full of napalm.
Alice emerged from the bathroom after washing up and threw on her dress. She crawled between Robert and Iggy to kiss them both before leaving to fetch her best friend Fran from the party in Bonzo's room.
Robert lay on his back with his hands behind his head. If Fran was anything like Alice, a breather was in order before round two.
Robert sighed and glanced at Iggy, who was reclining on his side. "How does it feel to be in the big leagues? Raw Power is one hell of a record, mate." After all of Robert's chattering that night about the success of Houses of the Holy, he instantly regretted how arrogant his comment must've sounded to Iggy, who had been making music for roughly as long as Led Zeppelin had been. "Sorry," Robert interjected. "What I, uh, mean to say, Ig--"
"No, I get it, Percy." Iggy saw how much the nickname irked Robert when Bonzo spoke it and decided to twist the knife in Robert a bit.
Iggy had no poker face to speak of. Robert could see the American's thoughts slowly formulating through the movement of his big, blue cartoon eyes. Barely controlled rage pivoting to wily thoughtfulness with whiplash speed. Iggy seemed very lucid tonight, which surprised Robert, who had heard horror stories about Iggy's junkie tendencies through the grapevine. He was getting a sense that an alert Iggy was the truly dangerous Iggy.
Robert didn't know whether he would be scorched by what Iggy was going to say, or if he would be impressed by Iggy stopping himself from leveling a vicious retort. Iggy was not unlike Maureen, Robert thought--petite and fiery. And cute. Iggy's energy was vaguely familiar. The thought surprised Robert but also made him smile.
"We had to get dropped before we could perform the fucking album more than once, but yeah, we are getting bigger audiences now, thanks to Bowie's aura around the project. But we've always had a tight, rabid group of fans who really get it. The money isn't much, since the label tossed us out on our asses, but there are a few more people in the audience to catch me."
"You're a lunatic, with that stage diving." Robert caught himself breathing a sigh of relief. Iggy was reflective. Not in the mood to spar verbally.
"What? Too afraid to bust up your pretty face, Perce?"
Robert inhaled with irritation. His face flushed. He couldn't pinpoint why Iggy was getting under his skin. He'd been treated worse by the press. Much worse.
"I just don't have it in me," Robert finally said. "Plus, I'm bigger than you, and I think I could hurt someone. Or, I might come back to the stage naked, once all the birds get their hands on me."
"You'd love it. Admit it, man."
"Maybe I would, Iggy… But I'll leave you to it."
In the silent pause, Iggy swept his gaze over Robert's face again. Iggy admired the masculine set of Robert's jawline, at odds with his feline eyes and the curlicued cloud of his hair. Robert was more attractive than The Stooges' cutest roadies, and Iggy adored his roadies. Robert was a finely sculpted man who seduced everyone with very subtle androgyny. Robert's pretty hippie god look was a far cry from Iggy's battle-scarred demon persona of eyeliner and dark lips. Nevertheless, Iggy reveled in all the boys and girls wanting him. He loved blurring the lines of the expected. It was his ace, shoving people off kilter with his performance. If he straddled a man's lap and sang in his face, or kissed an unexpecting girl in the audience, all eyes would be on him. Hate or love his performance, they would be telling all their friends about it. It never failed.
By the way Robert looked at him, Iggy knew that even Robert found him to be an intriguing novelty. He smirked at the larger man, who smiled at Iggy quizzically.
Iggy wondered if Robert knew what he was doing with his look. But Robert was a god to his fans and had nothing to explain or prove to anyone.
Iggy couldn't lie to himself; he wasn't on that level. He was the sideshow for a loud, primitive band that always performed at the brink of chaos. He would be the scrappy little underdog until the day he died. Nothing came easy. He had to do the dirty work to get what he wanted.
Iggy watched Robert's chest rise and fall with his breath and imagined that it felt just as solid as Iggy's own musculature. Robert was a total package, just like Iggy had heard. Beautiful inside as much as outside. Iggy remembered the dreamy look in Sable's eyes when he saw her on the street and mentioned he'd be coming to the Riot House, as they called it. She'd asked Iggy to say hi to Robert for her. She was on to the next thing, only had eyes for Johnny Thunders these days.
Iggy started to wonder if Robert was someone he wanted, if Robert himself might be interested in exploring that kind of connection. Iggy was not turned off by the idea, no matter how much he protested about any hint of interest in men to anyone who'd listen. But he knew he'd have to be the one to make it happen with Robert. And that was always something he wrestled with.
David and Lou had no qualms about men, but Iggy hadn't truly shaken free from Midwestern ethics. It was like the time Iggy lived with Leee. It was two boys who grew up far from the coasts of America who couldn't act on their feelings, even when Iggy's robe was open and his large cock was on display. Leee was into boys, but as much as Iggy tried to entice him, nothing ever came of it. Iggy couldn't bring himself to go for Leee. Neither man ever spoke about it. Iggy had been paralyzed by his thoughts. Lee? Maybe he just wasn't sure if Iggy was sure. Iggy had broken free from society in many ways, but not this one. He sighed in frustration.
Robert noticed that Iggy's mood had shifted again, that he was lost in his thoughts, and not happy thoughts, it seemed. For all of Iggy's maniacal bravado, Robert realized that his fellow front man wasn't a savage to the core. It put Iggy in a new light in Robert's eyes.
Not that it made Robert think Iggy was delicate or weak. The ripples and etchings of wiry muscles on Iggy's body proved how strong he was, as did how he had clawed his way to a new record deal after his band had been left for dead a few years before.
Robert and Iggy weren't friends, having just met that night, but they sat by the balcony in the Hyatt suite and had a nice, long conversation over drinks, joints, and stories of the stage.
Iggy, Robert was pleased to find out, had more layers than the press ever attributed to him. Iggy was as well read as Robert and had even broader music taste than his British counterpart. It was refreshing for Robert to have a lively artistic conversation with someone who wasn't Jimmy.
Something was shifting between Robert and Iggy. Robert kind of hoped that Alice and Fran would be delayed for a while, even though he was unsure of how he wanted to fill that time with Iggy.
"Penny for your thoughts, Ig."
"Oh…" Iggy swallowed and blinked his eyes. He'd been caught. What the hell, he thought.
"Uh, Robert …"
"Yeah?"
"Have you ever… Done anything with a guy?"
"Haven't had the pleasure, Iggy. You?"
"Closest I've come, I told this creep he could lick my stomach when he asked to suck my dick. And some boys in San Francisco? They, uh, have a fan club for me. Met with them a few times. Touchy-feely motherfuckers. I don't go to sleep around them."
Iggy seemed somewhat ashamed. Robert could understand. Jonesy was convinced that Robert was too provincial, too old fashioned to accept or even acknowledge the male attention he garnered. Maybe the Midlands and Midwest weren't all that different, Robert mused. Iggy may have had more exposure to men who wanted him, but he seemed just as uncomfortable with that kind of attention.
But Robert guessed Iggy, too, was willing to bend the rules a little tonight. Good company and good drugs would do that to anyone.
Both men were lost in their thoughts. The silence was painful. It had become a game of chicken.
"Aw, fuck this." Iggy broke first. He scooted closer to Robert, rested a hand on the larger man's shoulder, and pressed his lips to Robert's. For a few tense seconds it was like both notoriously sexy men forgot how to kiss. Iggy additionally feared getting tossed from the bed by Robert. But then, everything clicked. It was like the first number of an electrifying concert. Both men knew the rush that came from singing the first few bars of a song, the sweet release of all the nervous energy that built while the band played the intro, and the passion that must be doled out with the first notes to hook the audience's attention for the night. Their kiss was exactly the same.
Robert nestled a hand on Iggy's back. Iggy's tongue was exquisitely adventurous. But not aggressive. It was the exact opposite of Iggy's stage persona: tender and unhurried. It was as good as any groupie Robert had ever encountered. Robert got the feeling that Iggy had a surprising number of facets that most would never see. Robert felt honored to get a true glimpse of the man.
Iggy glided his hand into Robert's curls. The American was enjoying himself. He realized it was no big deal after all. He briefly thought of telling David afterward, to see the surprise and envy on his face. Robert. Fucking. Plant! But Iggy would never tell a soul, out of respect for Robert and this moment. And he knew Robert wouldn't breathe a word of it, either.
Robert caressed Iggy's back, causing the smaller man to purr contentedly. The taste of Robert's tongue was the taste of freedom that he'd always craved.
The door opened, and Alice and Fran barged in. Iggy and Robert continued kissing. They'd surprised themselves by not jerking away from each other.
"Oh, my God, that's so hot!" The men heard a new voice. Fran. "They couldn't even wait for us!"
The two women took the scene as their cue and climbed on the bed, choosing a man to play with, separating the embrace.
Robert winked at Iggy, and Iggy nodded his head in response. It was fun while it lasted.
