Okay all my thoughts because some people have been saying that not supporting this change is not supporting artist and creators and as an artist fuck that.

1. Audiences owe you nothing. You have to convince them to engage with your creation not the other way around. This is something both the nonprofit theatre I work with recognizes and huge companies realize. It's just part of life. There are so many talented people in the world making amazing art, videos, music, writings, and on and on, and there's only so much time in the day. I'm not saying you shouldn't know your worth, just that being flippant about how little you care about those who can't pay isn't a good move. On that note...

2. PR is everything. If you haven't made a visible effort to push patreon, channel memberships or other avenues of making money, don't be suprised that your creation that was previously accessible to those without extra cash and to those who can't support foreign subscriptions due either to conversions or because it simply doesn't work, being made private isn't popular. There's a big leap from "We want to have more artistic control" to "We can't afford to make our content accessible to most of our audience," and people are smart enough to see this. You either have to make budget cuts or give into sponsors. This isn't unique to Watcher, it's part of literally every production from broadway, to Hollywood, to YouTube. Unless you can fund it yourself or get viewers to pay(which given how many are already strapped for cash...) that's life.

Not to mention they simply do not have enough followers to make the switch to a paid only site(dropping the first epsiode only on YouTube isn't going to draw people in, they're just going to say "oh why start if I'm not going to see the rest" and not watch) especially not one that is buggy and a security risk. Even if the switch had been supported its not going to end well. The only reason services like nebula and dropout work is because of the large amount of series and creators and the fact those creators still are partly on YouTube so new people are drawn in.

3. As for the price, 6 dollars a month is a not a good starting price for only their content and that's as someone who pays for nebula. I'd be paying the same amount for a fraction of the access to others work. Actually it'd be twice as much. And before someone says "it's only a coffee-" that's for you. Not everyone has your lifestyle. And with every other patreon and subscription service that says the same thing, it all adds up and I simply don't think 60 dollars for 48 videos a year on a subscription basis where you don't get to keep the videos if your situation changes, some of which don't appeal to every viewer is a good move. If you were able to buy physical copies of your favorite series they've made that'd be different, but that's not what this is.

4. I do believe that the employees deserve a livable wage. I also did not hire them. It is not on the viewers that they hired more people than they could afford to. They can charge that much if they want to to try and balance this out. They also shouldn't be suprised if not many can or will sign up. They also don't have to be based in L.A. L.A has ridiculous costs associated with it, and quite honestly it doesn't really add much to the content. I'm not saying they need to move to the middle of nowhere Kansas. Simply that living and basing your studio in a super expensive city and then being suprised money is tight is just weird.

5. Something that occurs to me is that they might get more views if their playlists were better set up. Only some series are given playlists. It'd be easier to find all of the series and binge them if they didn't just show off their more popular shows. Honestly the only draw the streaming site has to me is that the series are actually labeled well.

Do I think the weird ass energy towards Steven is necessary? No. He's not the only one at the company and they're all adults. I actually liked grocery run and homemade, and like to see them back. The parascoial attachment to Ryan and Shane is annoying in people's criticisms, but that doesn't make them completely wrong. If you're going to brand yourself as the anti capalist underdogs you can't get away with being dismissive of your poorer fans. The dissonance is what is causing this backlash and makes you look like hypocrites. I definitely think Steven is turning into the fall guy which is fucked up, his statement and the fact dish granted is one of those shows that make people uncomfortable about wealth flexs doesn't help matters.

Inuyasha & Demisexuality

i think halfway into writing this i thought about just cramming all my thoughts into a semi-coherent rant due to a combination of a.) lack of access to decent translations of the manga and b.) paranoia about over-analyzing scenes and coming off as delusional (i think by now it's probably too late to thwart that claim) buuut this headcanon in particular is near and dear to me so i want to try and get as in depth as possible.

what is demisexuality?

in simple terms, demisexuality is when an individual doesn't experience primary attraction - that is, the sort of attraction based on immediate observable (often physical) characteristics - and instead only experiences secondary attraction first: the type of attraction that forms after the development of a deep emotional bond.

inuyasha and kikyo

this aforementioned term perfectly describes inuyasha and his relationships with the only women he's ever loved romantically. you could make the claim that his inability to feel primary attraction first stems from his trust issues and not inherent sexual orientation. and to that, i would disagree - he and kikyo develop an emotional bond despite an unspoken lack of trust, which may have improved had naraku not meddled in their lives. still, both find solace in each other's similarities, loneliness, and "outlier" status (though the similarities are in isolation only, if i'm being completely honest) and establish a connection that persists post-revival.

inuyasha eventually did start to feel primary attraction to kikyo during their time together - in the second chapter of the manga, when he compares kagome to her, he states that kikyo "looked pretty."

[source - viz. i haven't been in this fandom long, but what i've gathered is that there are a lot of mis-translations of this manga, even from viz. since i have yet to buy physical copies of the manga and don't have an account for the site, i'm going to be using fan-scans for the rest of these, which hopefully won't really affect what i'm trying to convey since i'll be looking at character expressions rather than dialogue for most of them.]

i'd also note the order in which he lists those traits: kikyo looked intelligent and pretty. her intelligent appearance is the first part of her he remembers, which i think underscores his priorities in this regard. he values things like intelligence and companionship - facets that come to light when developing secondary attraction towards someone - more than aspects of primary attraction.

inuyasha and kagome

as mentioned before, demisexuals don't feel physical attraction before establishing a tight emotional bond. the most blatant examples i could think of this were any instances in which inuyasha sees kagome nude and his difference in reaction - in particular, during the yura of the hair and togenkyo arcs, which are roughly seventy-three chapters apart. there are two new moons in that time, and from that we can say at least two months have passed.

chapter six: yura of the hair

kagome's bathing below him, and i'm sorry, but this expression literally screams "zero fucks given." he does not care in the slightest. not a blush. not a spot of red on his cheeks. not a sweatdrop. not a tee-hee. if i were to describe what he's feeling in this moment i would say "extreme ire." when she uses the sit command on him, it's on the assumption that he's "peeking," but kaede understands that it's actually because inuyasha is trying to steal a shard of the shikon jewel.

"huh?" - he sounds genuinely confused that she reached that conclusion, even though he was quite literally peering over the cliff's edge in what obviously has very perverse connotations. it's almost like he doesn't understand why kagome would think his actions come from a place of sexual attraction because that sort of thing just isn't on his mind at all, and he doesn't get why it would be in the first place.

another extremely blatant example can be see in miroku's introductory chapter: chapter 51, the delinquent priest:

do i even have to say anything. this scene also further emphasizes my previous point - before, the only reason he was there was to try and steal kagome's jewel shard. if his true intentions had been driven by primary attraction, this would have been an opportune moment to "peep." in his words, however, he just isn't interested. note that he could have said something along the lines of "i wouldn't do something like that" (which, if he was attracted to her in that way from the start, wouldn't have done anyway) but specifically i'm not interested. the primary attraction is not there in the slightest. at least, not until:

chapter eighty two: fateful night in togenkyo

the scene i'm talking about needs no introduction, but for context: kagome's half-freaking out after having woken up in a sake bath. inuyasha breaks down the door to come and rescue her, accidentally seeing her naked in the process. well, i'm sure his reaction won't be that dif-

...it's only one panel-

okay, two-

i think at this point it's fairly obvious that primary attraction has developed. besides the fact that he's spent three panels trying not to look like he's having a quasi allergic reaction, it's been approximately two months since they've met, and by now they've definitely formed the deep emotional bond required for him to begin feeling any primary attraction at all. in fact, the chapter where he tells kagome "there's no replacement for you" - that chapter, where he's vulnerable and honest and opening up to her, strengthening their bond further, (ch. 78, a tender smell) is directly before the togenkyo arc begins, and, thus, just before these scenes occur. these chapters have all been building up secondary attraction, and now that primary attraction is just starting to show up.

several chapters later we have this iconic panel from 173:

this is such a look of awe, as though he's gazing up at a goddess. jaw dropped, eyes-wide, words trailing off awe. he's entranced. fully head-over-heels in love, feeling both primary and secondary attraction in regards to kagome, and this trend only continues throughout the entirety of the manga.

conclusion + extra thoughts

my belief in this headcanon comes from not just the evidence depicted above, but because i just related a ton reading those scenes. i found myself just nodding along (as someone who's demisexual themselves!) plus, since ace-spectrum representation is so rare, it's nice to see it reflected in a character whose story and relationships i love dearly.

CHAPTER ONE | cinnamon sugar.

you had honestly forgotten you had posted a listing for a roommate — until the firm but gentle knock on the door revealed a tall man behind it, in a neat suit.

"hello! can i help you?" you ask, puzzled, as your eyes flit across the bizarre character in front of you. he looked official — agent or lawyer official — in a charming suit and neatly combed hair.

he flashed a small smile, "i'm Aaron, Hotchner, we very briefly spoke through emails about the roommate listing. is the offer still open?" he knew it was still open, you hadn't taken down the listing yet.

you blink for a second, before a smile takes over your face. "yeah! do you want to come in?" you offer, stepping aside. he smiles, stepping inside the apartment. you close the door behind him, moving to the kitchen, "can i get you anything to drink? tea or coffee? i've got other things as well of course,"

he chuckles at your enthusiasm, you're a little too easily trusting — stepping aside for him and letting him in as soon as he asks about the listing.

the background check he had Garcia run for him turned up with nothing strange or crazy, you lead a simple, easy life. went through school, almost finished college but had to take a long break due to your grandmother passing away. but you've started taking classes again, and you're grades are great.

you don't work full time, you help out in the café just below the apartments a few days a week — you're good friends with the owner of the building, and have been since you were a teenager. she helps you out with your bills and you help her out with the physical work wherever you possibly can.

honestly he doesn't know what about you or the apartment pulled him in, maybe he was just sick of living alone — the silence starting to take a toll on him. or he just wanted a change in his life, a different environment to come home too.

"some coffee is fine, thank you." he replies, setting his briefcase by the door. the apartment looks nice — homey and sweet, from his first impression of you, it reflects who you are.

you nod, opening the cupboard to grab two mugs. lucky for him, you had just finished making a fresh pot of coffee. you set down two mugs, grabbing the pot as you pour the coffee. "do you like anything in it?"

he thinks for a second, "a little sugar?"

you nod to yourself, grabbing your little sugar jar and spooning in some. you finish making yours before taking the two mugs towards the living room. "please, take a seat," you motion to the couch as you settle into the arm chair beside it.

you hand him his mug, earning a small smile as he looks at the colourful pattern on the mug. "thank you." he grins, taking a sip. the coffee tastes great, mixed with a hint of, cinnamon?

you can see him thinking, so you beat him to the question. "oh sorry! i hope cinnamon sugar is okay, i need to buy a new pack of regular sugar i used the last of it in the cookies i baked last night.."

he shakes his head, "the sugar is fine, don't worry."

you grin, nodding. "so, uh, Aaron?" you look up from your mug — uhg, he's handsome. "what drew you-" you huff, stopping your sentence. "i'm not really good at this, uh, just tell me about yourself?" you sheepishly smile, tilting your head.

"don't worry about it," he smiles reassuringly. "well, i'm thirty-three, i work at the FBI," he pauses, thinking. "i work odd hours, sometimes i'm away for a little while, not more than a few weeks. oh, i do carry two guns, would that be a problem here?" he hadn't thought about that yet.

you finish your coffee in a large sip, shaking your head as you swallow it down quickly. "not a problem at all! i'm not a huge fan of guns but as long as you put them away properly i have no issue with them." you smile.

he nods, acknowledging it.

"but FBI? are you a secret agent or something? as long as you can talk about obviously," you grin, intrigued by his profession.

he chuckles at your enthusiasm. "i work in the Behavioural Analysis Unit, we profile behaviour and habits to catch killers. we pick apart what makes someone tick, how they move, what their house looks like for example, what their job is, their facial expressions, little habits. and we create a profile based on that, that describes the person we're looking for."

you look utterly captured by his explanation, very intently listening. "that sounds really interesting, so you deal with serial killers too?"

he nods, "serial killers, arsonists, bombers."

your eyes light up, "tell me, is it anything like true crime shows?" you watch a little too many of those..

he laughs, "i guess a little, though much more complex."

you grin and nod. "on another note, is there anything you'd like to know in detail about the apartment? specific things you need or?"

he thinks for a moment, "could we take a look around?"

you nod, setting your mug down on the coffee table. "yeah! well, as you've been looking around, this is the living room, ..."

the tour went well, Aaron intently listened as you explained things and showed things, asking small questions here and there. he took a good look around every window and door, thoroughly checking the front door as well. you showed him his room, as well as a room you told him he could use as an office if he needed to.

he ended up staying for dinner, as it was late when the tour and check up was finished. you had insisted on cooking, while he didn't want to trouble you. you had said that you were gonna order something cause you were tired, but when he agreed to staying for dinner you changed your plans and decided to cook. you had made biscuits and gravy, having made the dough this morning already.

"wow," he said, fingers in front of his lips as he chewed. "this is really good." comfort flooded his body as he ate the food — he had been living off of take out for too long.

you smile, looking down. "thank you, i'm glad it's good."

the rest of dinner was filled with small talk, little things about you, little things about him. with the last few scrapes of your forks your plates were empty and the two of you sat in silence for a second.

"so, what do you think?" you smile hopefully.

he returns the smile, "when can i move in?"

safe to say you're just a little ecstatic. it's been a while since you've lived with anyone — not since you first semester in college — so you're excited.

your grin grows, "whenever you're ready."

so obviously the two of you both go to blackmore

and y'all met because you were friends with the woodsboro gang and he's chad's roomate

but even tho the two of you were always around each other due to your friends, you never really talked

i'm not saying that ethan is shy or anything he's maybe just a bit more cautious??? like he wants to see your personality before he tries talking to you

he also thinks you're really hot and doesn't wanna make a fucking fool of himself

y'all also have a class together

and your teacher likes to switch up the seating chart every unit and this time he puts the two of you right next to each other

which is perfect!! because now he has a chance to talk you without being interrupted by chad or mindy

naturally with the two of you sitting next to each other you're talking more often

and y'know maybe you missed a day of class for some reason

so ethan took it upon himself to take the notes twice so you'd have your own physical copy

he 100% has a full-blown crush on you at this point but he's too shy to say anything

he also feels like the two of you don't know each other that well and thinks it would be weird if he were to just spring his feelings on you

he tried to (discreetly) ask chad what he should do about his feelings

this did not go so well

and yeah part of ethan knows that he's being ridiculous and that he should just suck it up and ask you on a date

but there's a bigger. louder part of him telling him that he should wait it out a little bit longer

in the meantime he's let chad talk him into going to some halloween frat party

he honestly didn't want to go but then mindy told him that you were coming and he thought

"perfect!! tonight's the night"

except he's never asked anyone out before so he needs a little courage

chad spends half the night talking ethan up to go talk to you queue the clip of chad calling ethan a snack

honestly by this time you knew what ethan was trying to do, and you were gonna save him the trouble and confess to him first but

he just looked so adorable trying not to stare at you all night

unfortunately neither of you gets to make a move because of the whole thing with tara

but he is determined to confess before the night is over

he ends up walking you to your dorm

and he's talking like the whole time

about any and everything

and he's just so cute when he's rambling so you just can't help yourself when you top him in his tracks and kiss him

when you pull away he is literally frozen in his place

he was not expecting you to do that so he just like stares at you

finally snaps out of it when you move away from him slightly

his confession comes out really rushed and is honestly not coherent but you knew what he was gonna say

let's just say before he left the two of you had more than a fair share to do on your first date

and now for the actual boyf stuff

simply put ethan is like the best boyfriend ever

he carries your bags and stuff for you

buys you snacks every time you visit his dorm

you practically live in his hoodies and shirts

the best cuddle buddy

like just imagine laying there watching a movie with him and running your hand through his curls

literally the best fucking thing ever

ugh speaking of his curls

he loves when you play with them, it's literally the fastest way to get him to calm down

THE IMPOSSIBLE, POSSIBLE: The Persona 3 Manga in Chronological Order ... but should it be done ????

hi everyone ^_^)/ !!! it's vity here, and i am once again consuming media in the most confusing way possible, and showing how YOU can too !

shuji sogabe's persona 3 manga adaptation is kind of infamous for being near-useless at points for people who haven't already played the game at successfully getting across it's story due to it being told in non-chronological order. how much of this is his desire to give ryoji mochizuki as much screentime as possible (see my post, how hard was shuji sogabe really on that ryoji mochizuki grind?) and how much of it is artistic intent ? honestly, i'm still not really sure.

but what i am sure of is how much i've always been interested in the idea of - what if you did put the manga in chronological order? chapter by chapter, page by page? well, i've lost two days of my life. happy mochizuki monday!

as of right now, this is only a reading guide. this expects that you already have a way of reading the manga, and i believe any specific page numbers given are only 100% accurate to the physical release - but i wouldn't expect it to be off by much ! if anyone actually tries this, i would love to hear your thoughts on it! it's certainly an experience, at points. plus, i'm always happy to correct any errors! (thank you to @p3ta for some artistic debate to help me compile this as well as i could!)

Melancholia (5708) asteroid

As always, take this post with a grain of salt, hope it resonates with you and please don't copy this post without giving proper credits to the owner.

Asteroid Melancholia (5708) was discovered by Paul Wild in 1977 and the characteristic of this word is that it creates us a feeling of yearning, usually acompanied with sadness, of something related to the past. Like a memory, a person, a smell, a photo, a place, etc. Sometimes we are not conscious of what is the thing that triggers this feeling or how it is connected our memories, but I honestly believe that melancholy is, mostly of the time, connected to our past (fragment taken from my book of observations).

In astrology, this asteroid can talk about the things that triggers our melancholic side so, in this post, I'm going to detail about how this asteroid affects us according to the signs and houses.

Aries/1st house: to other people, these individual look as if they're melancholic mostly of the time even if they are not feeling like it. That's because they probably have this asteroid in the ascendant. The things that could bring melancoly to you could be related to how your body has changed over the years. Maybe you think that you looked better in your childhood or teen years. Or when your body was slimmer or fitter. Since Mars is the planet of action and movement, these individuals could feel melancholic when they are not able to move or act in the same way than before. For example, as you get older your body won't be able to do the same things that it used to (unless you do a lot of exercise). The same can be said when they suffer an accident that affects their mobility.

Taurus/2nd house: the things that could trigger these natives to feel melancholy in general are objects/material possesions that are valuable to them because, or either those objects were bought by the own effort or by the effort of your family. I think, as an example, of maybe some toys like an expensive doll house or a game console. Due to this, you are very carefull with the things that you buy/recieve because you can see the effort behind the object and maybe that's why it is also difficult for you (on some extremes it can be even painful or traumatic) to release/sell/gift those things that are so valuable to you. It brings back memories and moments, causing you to feel melancholic.

Gemini/3rd house: you could have a voice that sounds melancholic to others. The things that makes you feel melancholy are those related either to school, to brother(s)/sister(s) or maybe some local places that you used to visit before (this is due to the fact that the 3rd house rules short trips/voyages). Maybe you had good experiences in school and so you look back to your schoolar years with melancholy or the way you used to connect and interact with your brother(s)/sister(s) is something that brings this feeling into you. On the other hand, maybe there are some voices that brings that sence of familiarity to you, like it remembers you of something (like music) or someone and that makes you feel melancholic.

Cancer/4th house: for these natives, everything that reminds them of something or someone they used to connect with emotionally brings them melancholy. I can already see that a huge number of these individuals are really close to their family so being apart from them (physically or emotionally) can be a huge point that causes you to have this feeling. On another level, these individuals are, in private, very melancholic even when they don't know it themselves. It's like, when they are alone, they naturally think of the memories, the people, the moments that are deeply conected to their emotions (good and bad). For example, you look at one flower and suddenly feel melancholic because those were the flowers that your ex used to bring you.

Leo/5th house: the moments where you were able to show your autentic self, your creative side or when you were able to connect with your inner child are the moments that brings you melancholy. It's funny, but I hear that growing old is something that worries you because, in the actual times (at least since the last century) it is said that we must have a stable job that brings us money and stability in life and not pursue what we really want (especially if the thing we choose to follow doesn't give us stability). Being an engineer or a doctor are the classic careers that are chosen in relation to this. I mean, it's perfecly fine if that's what you want and brings you happiness but, for these individuals, putting aside your dreams or creations or anything that fulfilled your inner self, is something that really makes us feel melancholic. On the other side, another thing that could give you this feeling are the memories of the relationships that you used to have.

Virgo/6th house: you may feel nostalgic either when your health, or the health of other people, is affected or when you finish a hard work/project that took a lot of effort, planning, corrections and a lot of time to cover all the details in order for you to present or finish that proyect. You look back at what you have acomplished through hard work and that creates a feeling of melancholy. In relation to health, you could feel melancholy either when you are sick or when you help others with their problems (being those related to work, physical health or mental health). In the first case you remember with certain nostalgia the things you used to be able to do when you were healthier. In the second case, maybe you remember the people that you helped and miss the feeling of healping others, or you remember them and wonder what are they doing with their lives right now.

Libra/7th house: what these natives miss and feel melancholy relates to others. To their relationship with other people. Breaking up, separating from others, fighting or not talking to others can be hard for them because they tend to remember how their relatonship used to be, especially the good moments, and seeing how these relationship changes or ends makes them sad. "I remember how we used to play in the gardens" or "I remember how he/she used to surprise me with little gifts or gestures to tell me how much he/she loved me" are some examples of how this asteroid can manifest in these natives. Seeing injustice or cruelty against others can be a theme too and so they will remember with melancholy of those times when he/she wasn't conscious of those problems.

Scoprio/8th house: these natives tends to hide their melancholy side from others very well and that's because their very private. Only a few can see this side of themselves. Now, one of the things that creates melancholy to those who have this asteroid in Sorpio or the 8th house is intimacy. Personal intimacy. That can be sexual or emotional. Not being able to have close relationship with others due to whatever reason, or seeing how a personal relationship is loosing that intimate spark between them, will cause the native to feel melancholy and look back into the past and the moments he/she used to have intimate connections. Maybe loosing their status or personal power can be a theme too. Along with that, the 8th house talks also about possesions, inheritance and death so it is a possibility that they feel melancholy when they remember the loved ones that already passed. This is stronger if they recieved an inheritance from them.

Sagittarius/9th house: in this house or sign, the asteroid Melancholia could tell us that one of the themes that creates this feeling into an individual is by education. By learning. Why do I feel this? Because maybe these individuals realise how long has been the journey of the actual knowledge. How much effort has been put through centuries so we could have the knowledge that we have. Following this same trend, maybe you had a great time in college and that makes you feel melancholic (I feel like it can relate to all who prefer to go back to being a student rather than being an adult). On the other hand, it can talk about foreign lands or cultures so, if you used to travel or lived in another part, that can also help to create that feeling inside of you.

Capricorn/10th house: does your collages sees you as someone melancholic or does your job/career makes you feel that way? Maybe the struggles, the difficulties, the obstacles or the delays in your carrer makes you feel melancholic. I see the image of an old man coming back home, exhausted for the long journey and hours of work, thinking about the years of work and struggles he had to face in order to reach the position that he has so, most probably than not, your carrer creates the feeling of melancholy within you since it remembers you of your hard journey to reach your rewards.

Aquarius/11th house: does your friendships makes you feel melancholic? With this asteroid in the 11th house it can signify exactly this, especially if you don't communicate or see your friends for a long time. This can also apply to your social life, since (if you have other planets in the 11th) it can tell that you are either very popular or, at least, you enjoy going out with friends, meeting new people, go partying, etc. When you can't do neither of this things due to whatever reson (the pandemic, your grounded, etc.) it makes you feel melancholic. On another hand, if you feel connected to starseeds topics, it could indicate that maybe you feel melancholic by wondering where has your soul being, in which system do you belong to, where do you come from. These can be some of the possibles topics that makes you feel melancholy.

Pisces/12th house: you have an inner melancholy within you, within your soul, that maybe you are not even conscious about. Maybe when you are alone, at your own, when you are able to connect (consciously or not) to your higher-self, the feeling of melancholy starts appearing without any logical explanation. In this case, I will pay extra atention to the images or thoughts that comes through your mind at those times since Neptune, ruler of the 12th house and Pisces, rules imagination. Even your dreams can give a clue abot what it is that you are missing. On the other hand, since Neptune also rules intuition and psychic abilities, it can tell that you can feel intuitivly other people's feelings and melancholy, that's why you suddenly have this feelings of melancholy.

On "The Lost Cause" by Cory Doctorow

tl;dr - The Lost Cause is an worthwhile read that provides a feeling of hope for the future. As with many novels by Cory Doctorow, it takes place in the near future and showcases one possible future.

A future where humanity is taking the drastic actions needed to manage the fallout of the climate crisis. But also a future where humanity is dealing with the backlash from the older crowd that fears change and the plutocrats that fund them.

The story is told from the point of view of Brooks Palazzo, a young adult living in Burbank California thirty years from now. The Green New Deal has passed, and he is part of the "first generation that doesn’t fear the future". He wants to make a difference in the world by joining the Blue Helmets AmeriCorps and helping to rebuild the lower half of San Juan Capistrano a mile inland.

Not everything is all rainbows and roses, however. Brook's grandfather and his Maga pals aren't huge fans of the changing world though. Neither are the plutocrats that lost out due to the GND...

This is going to be less of a review and more of an admiration for a specific trope that is masterfully used. Due to the nature of the trope, there will be spoilers, including major plot points near the climax of the novel. If you want to go in blind, stop reading now.

"If you say in the first chapter that there is a rifle hanging on the wall, in the second or third chapter it absolutely must go off. If it's not going to be fired, it shouldn't be hanging there." — Anton Chekhov (From S. Shchukin, Memoirs. 1911.)

So, Chekhov's Gun. It's a guideline when writing narrative fiction that is commonly interpreted as: every element in a story should be needed, and anything that isn't needed should be removed. You could probably also think of it as a form of foreshadowing, but I'm not an author nor an authority on narrative fiction.

Anyway, spoiler alert - Brooks' grandfather dies during chapter one of the novel. As is common when a family member dies, the living have the chore of sorting through a lifetime's worth of items. As Brooks is the sole remaining person in his family, that task falls to him.

This leads to the below setup for the trope:

I felt around the edge and found a length of floorboard that wasn’t stuck down, and beneath it, a heavy nylon loop. I hauled on it and a square of floor lifted straight up, revealing Gramps’s secret. He’d jackhammered away a neat square of foundation slab, dug down about four feet, and poured a concrete vault, which he’d filled with: three AR-15s; forty boxes of ammo; a bag of expired high-strength antibiotics; a wilderness survival kit identical to the one he’d given me for my first Scout sleepout, including the hatchet my Scoutmaster had confiscated before we got on the bus; topographical maps of LA County; and, wrapped in oilcloth, a wooden box like you’d keep poker chips in, but this was full of krugerrands, heavy and glinting dully, dated mostly from the first and second decades of this century.

As guns are now illegal, this leads to Brooks stashing the guns, ammo, and gold in the hills of California by page 80. They get mentioned a few times throughout the novel, reminding you of their existence, but don't become really relevant to the plot until right before the climax.

A part of the story that almost feels like it could be the climax.

A group of Maga terrorists have taken Brooks' friends hostage. Brooks decides that in order to save his friends he has to go into the California hills and get the guns.

This, turns out, was not necessary. In fact, it's revealed later that the likeliest outcome of trying to perform an armed rescue would have been his death.

So, it comes to pass that the guns were introduced in the first act, and were subsequently not fired in the third.

The scene that completes the arc of trope:

That was what my grandfather had raised me to expect: a final confrontation, an all-out war, a battle for the future of the human race and its planet. That was what he was planning for, and right up until that moment, as I cleaned off his guns and hid them in the construction waste, I had never really considered the possibility that he’d been wrong. I’d thought there’d be a war with two sides: Gramps’s side and mine. I’d never thought that the real war would be between the people who refused to go to war and the fools who thought they could shoot climate change in the face.

So we have the setup, the implication that the guns will be used later in the novel. Only, they don't get used. They're practically useless, and almost actively harmful. But, given the themes and messaging of the book, the guns being useless is the only possible outcome. The subversion of this trope[0] drives the point home. Having some kind of final showdown isn't the message. Individuals storming the building with guns to to save the day would fly counter to the message of collective action being the way we move forward.

The message I took from the book was that building shelter for refugees is the way forward, even if doing that gets you arrested.

That feeding the hungry is the way forward, even if you get fined for it.

That taking care of people, even if those people were previously pointing a gun at you, is the way forward. (note: ensuring that they don't have access to their guns anymore is wise.)

The only way forward is to build the systems of mutual aid now, even if building those systems will be fraught with adversity and challenges.

No matter what happens, we will always be building the future in the shadow of the present. Only with collective action can we move forward, and only if we take care of each other.

[0] so, I'm not entirely convinced that this is really a subversion of the trope. While the guns aren't fired, they are necessary to the plot in the latter part of the book. But again, I am not an author nor an authority on narrative fiction.

"Why would you like Mr. Zhongli? Don't you think I fit perfectly as your boyfriend or even husband?"

I see him sending you a lot of flowers and some cheesy pickup lines.

#. II DOTTORE : The doctor

He never interested in love or falling in love once, every day he busied himself with experiments and theories so when it's come to this topic, he's hopeless. Grow you a flower that matches your eye color and said he doesn't mean to. Don't take it seriously, he just doesn't know what to do, the feeling in his chest is unbearable. He yearns for your attention and your love.

"You know today I received a one-of-a-kind flower that looks like a crystallize one" "And? It's not like I'm the one who gives you"

His heart would explode if you kept his flowers and decorate them in your dorm

She doesn't want to rush things, so she takes her time and makes sure she truly loves you. Seek Amber's advice with this; due to her surroundings, she isn't particularly skilled at expressing affection. Not a fan of physical contact, but for you? Your exclusion. She would pat your head or hold your hand. If she sincerely wants to express her love for you, she will give you a present. Mostly flowers since that's what Amber told her; flowers also can act as the language of love. Ask her what the gift was for, and she will state that it was merely a friendly gift.

"I starting to think there was another reason behind this..." "You think to much, it's simply a friendly gift"

I say that Cecilia will be the main flower, a beautiful flower that suits you as they are also hard to get it.

#. DILUC RAGNVINDR : Noctua

Doesn't actually believe that he falls for you. He just can't picture himself in a relationship due to his past. Kaeya would notice this as soon as possible; his brother? falling in love, he teases the red-haired man. Diluc will begin slowly by showing a different side of himself, such as his patience for you, asking how you are, or how protective he is when it comes to you. Deliver a banquet or anything else that reminds him of you to your place in secret.

"I feel like I have a secret admirer" "What makes you think that?" "I got a banquet of flowers again this week" "Ah, I'm sure there's nothing to worry about that"

Shall I make this an excuse to talk about The Quiet Year?

Why not?

So, let's set the scene: it's maybe 2017 or 2018. I have discovered D&D through Critical Role, and I am hyperfixating on it. Tabletop RPGs do all the things I wanted out of creative fiction writing, but with all of the stuff that I find tedious about writing fiction creatively. This is quickly becoming my whole personality.

Then (and I'm not even sure how I stumbled upon it) I discover The Quiet Year.

I felt my brain expand. A Game doesn't have to just be A Character who Levels Up and Explores Dungeons forever (or until the campaign collapses due to scheduling conflicts).

It can be a community, growing over the course of a single, contained year. It can be cards, with questions, that could be presented in any order--but are here, presented in the exact order you need to tell this story. It can be a map, which you and your friends label over time, rather than one that has been planned by one Master. It can be Contempt Tokens, which exist simply to remind you that you have harmed or offended another community, and have no further mechanical effect.

... And I didn't actually *play* the game until maybe 2020? My partner got me a physical copy for my birthday one year (probably 2019?), and I eventually managed to find a fellow player. We didn't finish, but it was amazing.

Somewhere between those two points in time, I started designing games of my own. I think The Quiet Year really gave me the idea, for the first time, that it was possible. I didn't have to be Wizards of the Coast to make something, I could just be a person--like Avery Alder--and put my heart into every word.

So like, if you don't already have it, go buy yourself The Quiet Year.

If I’m being honest, I have been more into just listening to music during my free time more than anything and while I read a lot of manga, my goldfish brain would blank out if someone were to ask me anything about it. However, I will tell you my list of definite rewatch/reread series though some of them are pretty old or obscure.

My Top 10 (in no particular order)

Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-Kun (manga/anime)

At first, I watched it mainly for the fun aesthetics (cute colourful characters with spooky backgrounds) but I fell in love with the characters and world-building of this series. The whole cast, be it main or supporting, are absolutely amazing and capable of running a story arc of their own even without the main cast which is seriously impressive. And while the anime only just scratched the surface, the author really built the setting of this series with great thought, with its own politics, history, systems, and culture that impacts the story well. No random fact is without purpose and I love it.

The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. (manga/anime)

I’ve been watching anime since I was 4 so I can confidently say that I’m familiar with many classic anime tropes and cliches. This series is like a kudos to longtime anime fans with its jokes and jabs as it follows a strong psychic boy being absolutely done with the insanity of his life as he tries to keep his powers a secret from his schoolmates like a sports anime jock, a shojou girl, delinquent gone good, etc. The comedy coming from this deadpan omnipotent high school student is just an absolute delight. I kin Saiki so much

Nope (movie)

I’m a real fan of horror movies, especially those with undertones that bring a critical element to humanity. While I love all of Jordan Peele’s current works, Nope has got to be one of my favourite movies overall. I’ve heard of some of the criticisms people had with the film (pretty ironic ones too) but I personally love the pacing and suspense of the film. While it’s fun to watch monsters and killers get crazy from the get-go (that’s why Saw movies and slasher films were popular) but Nope touched on that all-too-real fear of not knowing what’s going to happen. That fear where you’re afraid but you’re not sure of what yet.

Petshop of Horrors (manga/anime) and the sequel Neo Petshop of Horrors (manga)

Speaking of horror with critical undertones, I was obsessed with this manga series that came out in the late 90s. I would try so hard to find a way to read this series every chance I could growing up. It’s a sorta episodic style story that stars a mysterious petshop owner that often becomes a suspect in the deaths of people who have bought animals from his shop. I love the philosophy of each new story that touches on humanity and how different (or similar) we are to animals. It questions our societal norms, expectations, base desires, mythology, what it means to live, and what is “acceptable” in our world. Unfortunately, the series was never fully translated and only published fewer copies than typical manga series due to reasons I’m not too sure of (possibly conflicts with ownership and company copyrights at the time, think Baccano situation). The series had an anime but even that anime only had 4 episodes (I still highly recommend it however). I’ve managed to get a few volumes for myself and I know people are selling certain volumes online but I have to save for essentials so collecting them is unfortunately a lower priority now.

Pokémon (video game/manga/anime)

Is this a cop-out? Nah. To this day, I would still have to physically fight myself to not buy plushies and games when I’m already broke af. Pokémon might be one of the first animes I have ever seen (I have seen both sub and dub because my brother found a way) and I would still on occasion go back to rewatch literally any season and any movie of theirs, Nintendo really hit the marketing jackpot with this franchise. The creativity and design are so iconic and memorable that it’s so easy and fun to get into the fantasy of going on an adventure with your favourite Pokémon. There’s of course some nostalgia at play since I loved the moments where my older brother would watch the movies with me and my cousin and I would collect the figurines together.

One Piece (manga/anime)

Is this also a cop-out? Don’t care. I LOVE ONE PIECE! I will sacrifice my time and tears for this series. I have legitimately managed to rewatch this 4 times in my life (granted I started when it only had 400+ episodes so I had an easier time) and I would willingly cry over a flashback, a whale, even a boat over and over again. The action and story-telling of this series just keeps me running back for more even if I keep meeting dumb gatekeepers (yea, people don’t believe me when I tell them I’m a One Piece fan, what are ya gonna do?) I haven’t watch the Netflix live action yet but I probably will once I get my friends to watch with me (I like to fangirl with friends~)

Forget my Husband, I’ll Go Make Money (manhwa)

Despite my blog probably being best known for the villain/ess series, the banner of my blog is not an isekai villainess story but a fantasy series where a woman who can see the past, present, and future tries to make money while being married to a foreign prince before expecting a divorce (because she assumed he rather marry for love than for political reasons). Fun fact, this series was actually one of the foundations when I was writing the villain/ess story for Leona. The art and main couple are just absolutely delightful, I can’t help but reread it as it returns for a new season. Not only is the art just gorgeous, the main couple is just so gosh darn entertaining with their conversations, personal dynamics, and hilarious misunderstandings. Just beautiful.

Hotel Del Luna (K-drama)

Leave it to my interest in horror to love a romance drama with ghosts in it. It’s funny, it’s cute, and some of the ghost’s backstory is heartbreaking as well. This is a great story to just have a nice cry out. I love the story, I love the music, but most importantly, I love IU! She is my queen and every scene she is in, she kills me with her fashion, her haughty character, and her tragic backstory. She and the male lead was such a fun twist of the typical k-drama relationship where she was the powerful but broken character who ended up being healed by the kind, hardworking character. I've watched this 3 times at this point, but I still cry Every. Single. Time. No exceptions.

Hell Girl (anime/manga)

If I haven’t sold you on how I was probably that kid with creepy interests, maybe this will convince you. This was my go-to show back when I was in middle school. There is no excuse, I just really love the psychological horror of this series. In the show, there is a website you can access at midnight where you can ask Ai or Hell Girl to send your most hated person to hell, with the price that you will go there too when you die. While there was a linear storyline in the background, the episodes were always new people who requested Ai’s help with different cases of their own hell on earth. It touches on some really heavy real-life topics but what made it memorable to me was how sometimes I would feel saddened by the choices the people in the show made. Sometimes, they’re in the situation where all they can do is curse someone to hell but then was it really worth losing your chance at a happier afterlife? I watched this show with some of my friends who either saw Ai as a villain for sending people to hell, or a saviour who helped these people find an escape from their torturer, and that honestly made me think about what it means to have that much hate in you. I always wondered if I was ever in that situation, what would I do if given the chance?

Big Hero 6 (movie)

Arguably the first Marvel-Disney movie since Disney bought Marvel, I remembered people having weird thoughts on the usually cartoony company taking over the superhero franchise but I fell in love with everything that was this movie. It had Marvel-style action mixed with classic Disney wholesomeness and gut-wrenching emotional moments. I loved the message and warmth that was in this movie. Having an older brother myself, I couldn’t imagine how I could go on if I lose him but watching Hiro being so well supported by Baymax and his friends cemented within me the importance of helping others and that supporting those in pain can be as powerful as stopping bad guys (sappy, I know but hey I’m now learning to be a preschool teacher so this really stuck with me). Tadashi’s recorded message brings me so much comfort that I didn’t realize I needed. He may have been the closest thing to a Disney crush for me.

At the moment my stance on fic binding is that it's fine if it's only for personal use and not for sale, profit, distribution or commission. Please don't use commercial companies like print houses (due to legal issues).

I feel like I sound a bit over the top given my lack of notoriety as a writer and the fact that I don’t get asked all that much, but I just feel very strongly about fanworks being and remaining free, and the way fic-binding has been commodified lately worries me. I don't want to go back to a time when fanworks were in legal danger.

Be respectful and responsible like this Anon, people. Don't buy or sell fic 😌🖤

the thing that makes me so angry and hateful towards Nintendo is that they're so concerned with preventing piracy, they don't allow people to preserve their (legally purchased!) games and save data.

i lost faith in Nintendo when the NNID became a thing. because all your digital save data on the 3DS was tied to that. so just buy physical games, right?! except later 3DS games save to the SD card, not the cart. and a lot of said carts are already failing due to faulty chips. the days of ~Nintendium~ are long gone.

so just back your data up, right?! well...no. because it's encrypted. your 300 hour save file? yeah, it can only be used with the same exact game you bought. and only on your account. which is tied to one 3DS. and you can't really make backups because the game generates a new encryption key every time you save. oh, your SD card died?? too bad! guess you're gonna have to start over.

the Switch, despite having the option for cloud saves, is somehow just as bad. because besides Nintendo's cloud backup service (that you pay for...and can't access outside of your account...), there is still no way to back up your data. because it's on the system memory. and it can't be moved from there. oh, and the Switch also tallies your updates and watches everything you do whenever you're connected to the internet. you know, to prevent ~cheating~.

but they gave us retro games, right?! again, tied to a service...that you pay for...on a cloud...that can't be accessed offline or without an account. you pay Nintendo to allow you to play your favorite games. forever. and if you lose your account or internet access, that's it.

Sony, Microsoft, and Steam do not do this. you can access your save files whenever you want, and make backups whenever you want. you can even move them between accounts and use them with different copies of the same game. your files are pretty much always safe, as long as you, the user, take the time to back them up. Steam even allows you to write purchased games to a backup disc to be restored later. essentially, your time is yours. your digital purchases are yours. as much as they can be.

not with Nintendo. that's why i can never sympathize with them as a company. because it's not about the joy of gaming with them, it's about protecting their property. always more concerned with their reputation and copyrights, never the experience of the gamer. always so afraid of cheating, they force you to be totally dependent on their services. they are like the Disney of gaming, and it makes me furious.

this is not the same company whose games made me so happy as a kid. i can only hope they wake up one day, but i doubt it.

It was a lazy Thursday morning during summer break from college and you were sat in a chair, bass in hand, inside of the music store at Starcourt. You'd just gotten some new strings and decided to tune it there with the help of the employee which just so happened to be a friend of yours.

"Sounds good. Play me something, Sweetheart." Eddie smiled, making you roll your eyes. Eddie had quickly become a good friend of yours due to the amount of time you'd spent in the store, and having jam sessions at your place. You'd even considered that he was your best friend at this point. A big brother even.

"Only if you back me up with that." You pointed to the electric guitar left by another patron to be tuned by Eddie.

He nodded, grabbing it and tuning it quickly. His ear was honestly a gift with how quickly he could get the right tone out of any instrument in a matter of a moment. "Whatcha gonna sing for me today? Some Joan?" He teased.

You smirked at him, nodding. "Yeah, the one we just finished learning."

"Count it." He said, flexing his fingers.

"One, two, one, two, three four." The iconic start of I Love Rock 'n' Roll started. A few measure later you started singing.

You noticed a guy standing there, watching closely so you gave Eddie a look telling him to cut it and the song stopped. You didn't want Eddie to get in trouble for ignoring customers.

"Don't stop on my behalf. You're really good." The boy said, fluffy hair bouncing slightly.

"Gareth, what's up, buddy?" Eddie asked, drawing the boy's attention away from your reddening face.

"Just came to pick up some new sticks. You guys should really get me a punch card, as many as I buy." He rolled his eyes, the humor never fading from his face.

Eddie laughed, standing and putting the guitar back on the stand. "We really should. Uh, have you met Y/N?" He asked, motion back to you.

You're glad you'd had a moment to calm the blush because his eyes were back on you.

"I don't think I've had the pleasure." He answered before sending you a smile. "I'm Gareth. Eddie's mentioned you a few times. Glad to put a face to the name." He offered you a hand, which you took.

"Don't take him too seriously. He probably tells you I bully him." You joked, ignoring the electric feeling of your skin touching his.

Gareth laughed, his smile widening. "No, no. All good things. Baby sister and all that."

"That would be a first. I tell him all the time that his eyes are brown because of how full of shit he is." You laughed, finally letting go of his hand, letting yours drop back down to your bass.

Eddie rolled his eyes. "And that's why I tell everyone you bully me."

You copied his actions before sitting your bass on the stand. "You're my best friend. Gentle bullying is how I show my love." You replied sarcastically as you stood to push his shoulder.

"Physical abuse!" He claimed as Gareth laughed at the two of you. Eddie had made it clear to him after many many jokes that your relationship was strictly platonic. Eddie loved you to your core, but as a sister and you felt the same way about him. He was the big brother you never had.

"Someone's extra dramatic today." You rolled your eyes, stepping away from him and closer to Gareth. "What brand do you use?" You asked, grabbing his wrist and pulling him towards the drum accessories.

"Usually the cheapest. Broke college kid and all." He joked, only slightly serious.

You nodded before squatting down to grab a more expensive brand. "Don't tell me not to, because I'm going to anyways. Music is a passion and your tools are important. Come on." You stated, turning to walk to the register.

"You seriously don't need to do that, Y/N. You don't even know me." He protested, following you up to the register.

"Munson!" You waved, letting him know you were ready. "You have a passion. I can tell. You deserve something with a bit more quality. Plus a friend of Eddie's is a friend of mine. Let me Sugar Mama you, huh?" You nudged him with your shoulder as Eddie stepped behind the register.

"Seriously dude, don't argue. She does what she wants. That's how we became friends." Eddie chuckled, tapping away at the numbers. "Alright so for the strings and the sticks it's fifty five even."

You nodded and pulled the cash from your wallet. "I'll see you tonight, yeah?" You asked Eddie, grabbing the sticks from the counter.

"Yeah-" Eddie was interrupted by Gareth.

"I invited him to my place for a horror movie marathon. My parents took my sisters out of town for a gymnastics competition and they'll be gone until Sunday. You should come." He rested his elbow on the counter as he looked at you.

You smiled at him and nodded. "Yeah, that would be great. Is it a stay the night thing or would that be weird considering I met you ten minutes ago?"

"You just Sugar Mama'd me a pair of the best drumsticks on the market. You can stay. Plus a friend of Eddie's is a friend of mine." He winked, causing your tummy to flutter.

You smiled and handed him the package. "You gonna pick me up, Eds?" You glanced back at the long haired boy who was smirking very mischievously.

"Yep. Be there at 5:30." He said with an odd monotone.

You nodded slowly and stepped away. "I don't like that but I won't question it. I think the answer would make me like it even less, so I'm heading out. See you guys tonight. Love ya, Eds." You walked away from the waving boys to grab your bass and and left the store.

"Love ya." He called before looking at Gareth. "You're in so fucking deep for her, dude." Eddie said, facing him directly.

"Dude, I fucking know." He dropped his head until it was resting on the counter. He let out a low groan before looking back up at Eddie. "Is she into me?"

"Oh absolutely. She only got me mediocre strings. She got you top of the line." Eddie answered, a knowing smirk plastered over his face. "You lied about inviting me over so you could invite her." He pointed out, tapping his fingers on the counter.

Gareth groaned again. "Don't tell her, please. Just come watch movies and claim the recliner so I can sit with her, okay? I'm begging here."

Eddie scrunched his face, fake thinking. "I don't know dude. She is my best friends. We're supposed to be honest with each other, right?"

"Pizza and beer. Please."

"You have a deal. We'll be there at 6:00."

Regular Show actually has had a full series release, in Australia, so any Seasons that aren't available in the US can be bought from Madman. Most of their DVDs work in US players for some reason, but some don't. I will attest to the ones that do

To the best of my knowledge OK KO Let's Be Heroes has only ever had one full season release, Once Again from Mad Men Australia. I purchased this DVD and it works flawlessly in an American player.

The AU version came out years earlier than the US, so they don't have the same extra features.

Separating TMNT Verses and Characters

This is just a quick one, because I've been seeing this happen a lot recently and need to vent, but I really just want to say that it is so annoying when fans won't stop mentioning a TMNT series or character when a post, video, fic, pictures, etc, has absolutely nothing to do with them (this is annoying in other fandoms as well tbh).

If someone makes a post about, say, the relationship between Donnie and Raph in the 03 series, why do people immediately feel the need to start comparing it to other series, or start dragging other characters in? Or, as another example, if someone makes a post about how physically strong the Bayverse boys are, why is there always at least one person who has to jump in and be like, 'well, actually, thanks to his mystic powers, Rise Mikey is actually the strongest turtle in the TMNT franchise, and he can solo anyone'. Like, who asked? If the post is clearly discussing physical strength, and doesn't even mention other iterations, why do you think they'd care about you trying to prove that Mikey is the strongest due to his mystic abilities?

Or if you're reading a post/fanfic, or watching a video that is clearly about one character, and half of the comments are going on about someone else, or just annoying copy pasted phrases (this is worse on TikTok than tumblr though honestly, why does every TMNT post, even ones that aren't about certain characters, need several iterations of comments like 'transfem Leo solos', 'Mikey solos 'I am Rise Leos girlfriend' etc)? I probably am coming across as a bit of an ass here, or I am misunderstanding something, but I just can't see what value these comments bring to a video. Sure, people are free to say whatever they want, but if you are commenting on a video about one character, and the comment is solely a phrase like the ones mentioned above which have no relation to the topic of the video, I just don't understand the point.

When you're in a fandom with many different iterations of the source material, you need to learn that not all of the content is going to be geared towards your particular favourite, or your particular favourite character, and trying to interject them into everything is just going to engender bitterness towards parts of the franchise, certain characters, and even amongst the fandom. I think we've all seen posts that are annoyed at Rise fans constantly trying to take over posts, fics, polls, etc that have nothing to do with Rise, or trying to tell people that their characterisation is off because they are writing/talking about a different version, and some Rise fans don't always seem to realise that the dynamics are very different in other versions. Though I do tend to see this happening more with people who are primarily Rise fans, other parts of the fandom do the same thing, which can get pretty tiring.

I honestly think the fandom would all get along a lot better if everyone could take a step back and remember that not everyone is coming into the fandom for the same things. My favourite character across every iteration I've checked out, (and I have watched/read and enjoyed quite a few iterations at this point so I have experiences across most of the fandom), is Donatello, which is probably obvious from my previous posts, and if I was paid every time I've seen someone jump in on a post about, say 12 Donnie with a comment like 'Rise Donnie would be laughing right now, Rise Donnie would be cringing, Rise Donnie would never', I'd be rich enough to buy the rights of the TMNT myself. Obviously all of the Donnies wouldn't do the exact same things or react in the same ways to everything. They all have the same core, but they are also different characters in different universes with different experiences. Of my post is specifically about one version of Donnie, I don't want a bunch of people comparing him to other iterations or characters, or just generally shitting all over him.

Or a post about something traumatic that Donnie went through, and then someone leaps in with a 'yeah but the Leos obviously have it worse, they've gone through this, and this, and this.' Alright, but this is about Donnie so again, why should I care? If I wanted to discuss Leo's trauma, I'd have mentioned this in the post, or made another post about it.

I think that one of the most egregious repeating examples of this that I have seen is usually attached to the phrase, 'what about x character'. If someone creates something about one character, and you immediately hop in with a 'what about x' it kinda makes me want to scream. Say I made a post talking about how 12 Donnie actually makes a pretty good leader in some episodes, someone jumping in to say'well what about Raph or Mikey in these particular eps' would infuruate me. Or if I say, '03 Donnie really suffered in SAINW, someone jumping in to say, 'well what about Mikey, he suffered too' is more annoying than anything.

We all have to curate our own online fandom experiences, but part of this should also involve the realisation that other people are also trying to curate their experience, one that might be fundamentally differeny from what you want, and that, by trying to interject things about other characters and iterations where they arent wanted, you are probabky just going to make people annoyed.

Some people (maybe not all, but definitely some) will not want you to hop on their post and make it all about a character or series that isn't relevant to what they are talking about, and if you do so, you may face some kind of backlash. I have seen countless people grow bitter towards certain parts of the franchise/fandom and characters because of things like this (I know that I can grow irritable when half of the content that I consume ends up being buried in comments about things that are completely irrelevant). And this isn't just fans of one particular iteration or series, even though some fans have more of a reputation for doing this than others.

I guess my main point is to just have some consideration for others, and reflect on whether or not you'd be annoyed if someone commented on something that you'd worked on talking about a character you don't particularly like, and making everything about them. It can really suck, and I've seen people become discouraged when an excellent fic, character study, post, vid, etc of their favourite character gets flooded by comments of, 'this is more like x character, imagine x character in this scenario, but what about x'. Obviously this isn't the same for everyone, and some people actually do invite people to discuss other versions and characters on their posts, but I still think people need to consider whether or not the comment that they are posting is just going to end in an argument where no one comes away happy.
