i think everyone who was on tumblr in 2015 and/or as a younger teenager should read penance by eliza clark. it's a complete wild ride. deeply unsettling exploration of the grossness of true crime fandom, about a group of british high school girls who murder their friend, but also roughly 3/4 of the way through you get winded with homestuck references and a detailed footnote about all the different types of 2015 kinning on the same page

Dang, that's some impressively poor journalism. You can see above that National fucking Geographic still apparently entertains Murray's discredited witch-cult hypothesis from the 1930s.

This screencap is from soon after the article went live, and it's since been amended, of course, after people wrote in to complain. Now it describes the Horned God worshipers as "ancient Celts."

The thing is, the Horned God is a Wiccan concept, though. There's ancient horned deities, of course, but no one central horned figure like in Wicca.

So they're kind of just mixing things around at this point? Oh wow. Please try harder, NatGeo!

TW: major character death (The Song of Achilles)

So. Patroclus dies.

I'm loud today because I visualized the emotion as vividly as I visualized the sequences. I'm a Greek myth kid so I already know the chariots, the battlefields, the clothes, etc. That's not why we're here.

We're here because live action tsoa.

Patroclus in a chariot, adorned in armor and a violence he prohibited himself to use for the past 27 years. Patroclus' body language changing in that moment, whereas the entire time beforehand he moved like the comfort person of the entire war camp. A man of medicine who becomes the golden boy of the battlefield at act 3.

I need upward camera angles on my boy the entire sequence of this fight to make him look bigger. Because he feels more than himself in that moment, doesn't he? There's literal lines of how empowered he feels, war notwithstanding. I need the bloodstained sky in the background to match the energy change in him. I need a closeup of the feral expression on his face during that short Sarpedon sequence and the wall climbing that followed afterwards.

I'll update this post when I finish reading how Achilles reacts to his boyfriend's death.
