Destiny Part.4🐺
Summary: Paul has just shifted to his new life as a wolf and feels empty without his imprint hoping he finds her soon, y/n just moved to forks to live with her dad and sister Bella and decides to go to the bone fire to make new friends

Tumblr media
“I’m Paul’s imprint, he told me everything” I glared
She was so hypocritical, she can be in love with a vampire and be obsessed with their family after a year but I bc ant spend time with people who have been in my life forever and they just happen to be shifters? That’s not far, she’s never fair
“W..what?” She was shocked, her eyes showing full white and her jaw slacked open
“I’m Paul’s imprint, I’m meant to be with him, I always have been and we both knew it deep down, why is this such a problem atleast he protects people, look what those blood suckers did to you” i tried to reason
“You don’t know a thing about them y/n, don’t ever speak about them like that ever, you’d be lucky to even be in the same room as them, especially you” she scowled
“What is that suppose to mean Bella?” I felt my heart throb
“You’ve never been good enough, you’re just a burden to this family, can’t you see that”
I couldn’t take it anymore I ran out the door still sore but I didn’t know where to go, my bike was back at Emily’s, then I remembered I had Jakes number
I ran out of the house trying to hold back the tears that were threatening to spill, after three rings Billy answered
“Hello?”
“Hi billy……” I felt the lump in my throat get worse
“Y/n? What are you doing calling at this time of night? Are you okay?” He asked concerned like he always was with me
“Is Jake around? Would he be able to come pick me up?” I whined as my voice wavered
“Oh dear of course I’ll send him by right away just hold one okay?”
“Okay, thank you billy”
~~~~~~~~~
I waited for 20 minutes when I saw his rabbit car pull up I quickly got in
“Y/n what’s wrong why did you call?” He asked concerned
I looked out the window and sunk in my seat
“Can we talk about it later I just need to be away from Bella right now…..please”
“Of course” he said softly as he started to drive back to his house
When we pulled up to the red house that felt more like home I felt a bit better, a sense of belonging
Me and Jake got out and he opened the door to the house for me, I threw myself down on the couch and sighed
Today was suppose to be a magical day, I found my soul mate, and he wanted me he actually just wanted me and I wasn’t his second choice
As I was sitting there I saw billy roll in and stop infront of me as Jake sat down next to me
“Dear what happened?” Billy asked
And the tears finally fell, I couldn’t hold it back anymore, especially around him
“She said I wasn’t good enough….that I’m just a burden to the family, I don’t know what I ever did wrong for her to hate me” I cried into my hands trying to avoid looking at them
I felt the warmth of Jakes hand rub my back as billy pat my knee
“Y/n look at me” billy pleaded and I hesitantly looked up
“You are never a burden to us, we love you, you’re like another daughter to me, and I know Jake sees you like his little sis, you’re always the sweetest most kindest soul, and don’t you ever let her make you think you’re not worth love” he said as he wiped my tears away
“Do you want me to call Paul?” Jake asked
“No I don’t want him seeing me like this” I hiccuped that’s when we heard a knock on the door
Jake got up to answer it and that’s when I heard that beautiful voice I love always got butterflies around
“Where is she? Is she okay?”
“Come in she’s on the couch” Jake said stepping aside and he jogged over kneeling infront of me
“We will give you some privacy” billy smiled as Jake wheeled him to a different room
“How did you know I was here?” I asked confused but I couldn’t help feel better with him around
“I could sense you weren’t okay and I just followed your scent, it’s an imprint thing, but what happened?”
03. Back
summary: After five months away, Lili is finally back in La Push.
word count: 2541
FIVE MONTHS LATER
SETH
HE HAD BEEN counting down the days leading to Lili's return and finally, today was the day she would be coming back to La Push. Much to his chagrin, Lili's mother had brought Lili with her to South America for the summer. He had spent the entire summer depressed, and by now, the entire pack was grateful Lili was finally returning.
"One more week of summer — barely enough time to do any fun summery stuff with her," Seth couldn't help grumbling. He sat at the dining table eating muffins in Emily and Sam's kitchen, constantly checking the clock and shaking his knee.
"Relax Seth! The clock isn't going to tick faster if you keep looking at it," Jared said, nonchalantly stealing a muffin from Seth's hand — and the poor boy hadn't even noticed.
"There will be plenty of time. In fact, you can go cliff-diving this afternoon. If she's up for it, of course." Emily said patiently, ruffling his hair. "Sam just called me and said that they're just entering Forks.
"Ah, Sam. If my memory serves me right, he didn't take it too well, didn't he?" Paul said, a glint in his eye.
Seth had known that eventually Sam would find out about the imprint. So two weeks after the happy couple returned from their honeymoon — Seth wanted them to remain blissful in their ignorance for at least a few more days — Seth garnered enough courage to tell Sam.
And he hit the roof. Almost literally. There would be a wolf-shaped hole in the ceiling of their house if Seth hadn't had the foresight to tell him out in the yard, where Sam was free to phase. A pity though, because these days, Sam was trying to gain enough control to stop phasing.
"What the hell were you thinking? Imprinting on my baby sister like that?!" Sam yelled, throwing Seth to the ground.
"I didn't have a choice! And I swear I won't hurt her."
"She doesn't know anything about our world." Sam hissed. "And now she's going to be dragged straight into the danger I tried to protect her from."
All those years of distancing Lili from himself and his world now felt worthless. Lili had been safe, albeit resentful of him for his apparent abandonment. But now, it felt like his sacrifices, their unhappiness for the sake of Lili's safety, had been for naught.
Sam let out an outraged yell and phased, Seth a second after him. Good call, since the moment Sam was in his wolf form, he pounced on Seth.
Hey, cool it Sam! The pack, also in their wolf form, tried to pull Sam off Seth. When they were able to, Sam still tried to attack again. They tried to nudge Seth out of the way, but he stood his ground, uncharacteristically baring his teeth and growling.
You will stay away from her.
You know I can't do that.
Sam fought to break away from the grip of his pack. But he gnashed his teeth together. Fine. But she will not know about the imprint until a time I see fit, got that? She will not be pressured into falling for some goon. In one of the rarest occurrences, he was using his Alpha voice.
Seth's knees knocked together under the command, but managed to say with as much strength as he could muster, Fine.
At the sound of Sam's Jeep driving up the road, Seth jumped out of his chair at the speed of lightning. His keen sense of hearing allowed him to be the first one by the door, ready to greet Lili.
"Easy, Seth," Embry said. "Sam probably still isn't happy about it. Especially when Lili's around."
But Seth didn't really care. All he could think of was the fact that Lili was finally home.
LILI
The animosity in the Jeep wasn't as bad as the time when I came to La Push for the wedding. I didn't hiss when Sam sang along to Bon Jovi. I rolled up the windows when he told me to do so. And I said thank you when he mentioned they were throwing a homecoming party for me.
Sam narrowed his eyes. "Do you want something, Lili?"
"Nothing." I sang. "Just happy to be home."
"Hmm." His mood abruptly took a turn, as if he was remembering something unpleasant.
But I was in high spirits. "Oh Sam, did you know I saw a wolf near Aunty Allison's house the day after the wedding, just before we left for the airport? It was so gorgeous."
"A wolf?" Sam's voice was curiously quiet, yet brimming with an emotion I couldn't quite place. "And what did the wolf look like?"
"His fur was the exact shade of desert-sand. He looked pretty young, perhaps a teenager. He looked kinda funny, like he was going through a growth spurt, because his limbs appeared far too long for the rest of his body." I paused. "Sorry. I've just been giving it an awful amount of thought, because the moment I saw him, he let out this really sad, mournful howl. Is there a problem with wolves in La Push? Because I don't remember —"
"Damn it." Sam gripped the wheel tightly. From then on, he did not say anything.
As we pulled up to his house, I timidly asked, "Are you sure you don't want me staying at Aunty Allison's house? I would hardly like to disturb your domestic bliss."
"You're my sister." He gave me a little smile. "I wouldn't have it any other way."
Before I could step out of the Jeep, Seth emerged out of the house and was beside my car door in a flash.
"Hey you guys!" He said brightly. I found myself smiling at the sight of him. In some weird way, I had really missed him. Although I really loved spending the summer with my mother in South America, there was a teeny tiny part of me that had wanted to go back to La Push.
All for him.
"Let me get your stuff." He took my suitcase and backpack from Sam, who gave him an unexpectedly disgruntled look.
In the house, Emily hugged me tightly, while the others — comprising of Paul, Embry, Jared, and Quil — welcomed me back cheerily. Thankfully, they were all wearing shirts this time.
"It's nice to see you guys again." And I meant it. I turned to Seth, "It's nice to see you too, Seth." I kept my voice cool.
"Didn't expect you to remember me." The joy in his voice was evident. Although my mood had been elevated ever since arriving in La Push, it escalated even higher just with just hearing his voice.
I said coolly, "Of course I remember you. We danced at the wedding, remember?"
And I had not stopped listening to our song ever since. No matter what, Put Your Records On by Corinne Bailey Rae would be my favourite song forever and ever.
And we were just smiling at each other. I felt my cheeks grow warm. Seth opened his mouth as if to say something, but suddenly, Sam pushed in between us.
"Alright, I'll take Lili's bags to her room." Sam practically snatched my things from Seth, and gave him a look I wasn't able to see since his back was to me. Sam then put an arm around my shoulder and steered me my room.
When we were alone, he closed the door. "Lili, as much as I want you to settle in La Push, I don't think you should hang around Seth so much."
I raised an eyebrow. "What's going to happen if we're friends?"
"Lils, please don' be difficult."
"Sam, I thought you want me to make friends. Seth's my age, he's going to the Forks high school with me, it's perfect. It's not as if I'm going to be making babies with him."
There was a shout of laughter from the living room, accompanied by a sharp smack. Oops.
He winced. "Please don't say that Lili."
"Just because I'm living under your roof doesn't mean you get to control every aspect of my move. I get to hang out with whomever I want, and that constitutes Seth Clearwater." I glared at him. "You know, I don't get why you're so hellbent on separating Seth and me. We literally met at your wedding. He's the sweetest guy I've ever met."
"You have no idea what goes on in an eighteen-year-old boy's mind."
I groaned loudly. "Sam! You're so weird, we are literally just friends." I lowered my voice to a hiss. "Seth does not deserve this kind of distrust. He is nice and sweet and helpful, much more than you're being right now. So what if I like him? You can't stop me."
When I came out into the living room, everyone appeared to be in some kind of shock. It was a funny sight, them having put on party hats when Sam and I were talking, but absolutely frozen. Mouths slightly open and everything. There was also a red mark on Paul's arm which I swore was fading by the second.
"Everyone ... alright?" I asked hesitantly.
"T-Totally!" Seth's face was pink, and his smile was brighter than the sun. "Amazing! Wonderful! Awesome! On top of the world! Let's go get our grub on!"
"Shut up, Seth," Quil hissed.
"Who's up for pizza?" Emily asked.
SETH
Despite acting like a complete idiot, Lili still chose to sit next to Seth during lunch. True, it was the only place left — a feat orchestrated by Paul and Jared, who could not stop giggling — but she didn't not look happy about it.
"Tomorrow, I'll take you to the school to get you registered and everything." Emily said to Lili. "Are you hoping to try out for any extracurriculars?"
She thought about it for a minute. "I was thinking of joining the cheerleading team."
Seth spat out his pizza. Everyone stared at him.
"Um ... pizza went down the wrong way. You were saying, Lili?"
"I searched online, and Forks seems to have a pretty good cheerleading team. I was a cheerleader back in my old school in San Francisco, and I really liked it."
Emily nodded. "Oh, yes. The Cheerios are pretty good. They've even appeared in the newspapers a couple of times."
"I may just join the Cheerios, since I think I'll be put on the honour roll — I don't want to get too overwhelmed."
"Wow, Lili. You are such a well-rounded girl." Jared said, clapping his hands slowly. He smirked at Seth. "Don't you agree with me, Sethy boy?"
Once again, everyone looked towards Seth. Sam's eyes looked especially dangerous, glinting like that. So scary, in fact, that Seth had no idea what to do or say.
"Seth's going to the Forks high school with you, did you know?" Emily said, in an effort to break the tension. "You'll have someone to hang out with, since Embry, Quil, and Jacob have already graduated. Seth's starting his final year, and you're going to be in the year below him."
Paul snickered. "That's not going to be the only way she's gonna be bel —"
"Enough!" Seth gasped. If they said one more word, he was sure he was going to die of embarrassment. Or under Sam's wrath. He turned to Lili. "You wanna go cliff-diving?"
Lili smiled at him. "I'd love to."
LILI
However, Emily made us wait a good half-hour after lunch before going cliff-diving. We spent that time just sitting around in the living room, and I occasionally retreated to my room to unpack a few of my things. Sometimes, Seth followed me to my room and asked me a question or two about my summer in South America. And it wasn't just out of sheer politeness — it felt like he really and truly wanted to know about me. Never had anyone ever paid that much attention to me. The very memory of it sent shivers down to my toes.
After Emily felt satisfied that we weren't going to throw up if we went cliff-diving, we all got into Jared's car and drove to the cliff. Paul left early, citing that he had to work out. Weird, for I figured cliff-diving was an activity he would never afford to miss. Sam and Emily also chose to skip out, saying that they wanted to watch some romantic movie together.
"No funny business, young lady," Sam said warningly just before we left.
"You're not my dad, you know. You can't call me young lady." I sighed. "I've been without a fatherly figure for most of my life, and I've turned out great!"
Sam did nothing but roll his eyes. But in truth, especially when I was little, I sort of considered him to be a bit of a father slash older brother figure to me. But I would never admit that to him.
I didn't wear a swimming suit, which was just as well. Imagine wearing a bikini, jumping off a cliff, then losing said bikini in the process. I would have absolutely died of mortification. So, I decided to just wear my shorts and tank top.
When we got there, I jumped out of the car to check out the cliff ... then immediately walked back.
The boys were just getting out of the car. "Why? You scared?" Quil snickered, the other boys snickering too.
Except for Seth. His eyes were crinkled with what appeared to be concern.
"Are you afraid of heights?" He asked softly.
I frowned. "Anyone who's human would be afraid of jumping down what, a 50ft height?"
They all gave each other this really infuriating look that I couldn't really identify. "What?!" I demanded.
"Nothing. Nothing at all." Embry sang, smirking slightly. I narrowed my eyes, but before I could say anything, I was interrupted by this sudden loud whoop.
"Let's go!" Jared shouted, ripping his shirt off — to my obvious shock — and subsequently hurling himself off the cliff.
"Oh my god!" I shrieked. I ran to the edge of the cliff, where in the sea, I saw the water ripple and froth. A second later, Jared's head popped up as he whooped. I turned to the boys. "I know I'm supposed to be a cheerleader, but this is insane. You guys are total adrenaline junkies. What the heck?! Is this what people in La Push do in their spare time?"
"It's what we do." Embry grinned. "Honestly, it's fun. Try it! You only live once."
Seth was suddenly by my side in an instance. "C'mon — we'll do it together."
Quil whistled, and I rolled my eyes.
We walked to the edge of the cliff. As I stood there, thinking What the hell am I doing here?, I felt a hand wrap over mine.
"Hey," he whispered. "It's alright." His hand was warm, covering mine completely. I could feel the slight roughness of his palms, the steadiness of his breathing.
I breathed shakily. "Easy for you to say. You promise we won't hit any rocks or anything?"
"I promise. We've been doing this all summer, and there's nothing wrong with us!"
I scoffed. Seth beamed.
"See! I made you laugh. Now, do you feel any better?"
" I guess ..." I peered uneasily over the edge, then let out a small shriek of terror. "Oh my god, I am really doing this."
"Yes, you are." He stopped smiling and stared into my eyes. Gosh. In those five months I had been away, I had really missed those gorgeous brown eyes of his. "Take a leap. You ready?"
I nodded. He squeezed my hand.
"Good." His face stretched into his thousand-watt smile. "Now. Let's jump!"
I took the leap.
Hellooo everyone! Sorry for such the long hiatus, university has totally taken a toll on me and to be frank, I had no idea what to write or how to continue the story. But I'm back now, and hopefully, my spark of inspiration will last for a good while ;) Enjoy!!
p.s. This is also up on my AO3 account :))
Just saw your reply to anon and oh my god twilight! I get the whole imprint thing and it’s not even the fact that the wolves wait for the kids to be adults what’s 1000 times worse is they legit stay next to them and do it. They don’t separate and live their lives and then let them decide when older they “ play and be protecters with them”. Also they even say that they would be ok with just being around them and if girls decide to just being friends that’s ok but it seems they all choose romance which is creepy and that means Sam just chose to cheat on Leah with Emily so both are trash. And I hated how they treated Leah. I was angry after books and film ( did both tighter) and was even angrier when I saw renesmee had no fics she’s stuck with creepy jacob who treated her mom like trash. It would of been hilarious if Seth left and years later met and got with her screw jacob
It is soooooo disturbing!!!! Watching them grow up and playing a role in their lives until they're legal... that's grooming!!!! 🤢🤢🤢
I saw somebody say that the reason jacob loved bella was because he could sense the egg inside of her 😱 jail for a thousand years, seriously. I remember I enjoyed reading the Host when that came out when i was 14 but now I'm scared to re-read because I don't know what creepy stuff is in there.
“WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR IDEAS?”
Tumblr media
“WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR IDEAS?” is one of those cliché questions you hear writers and artists complain about being asked. We do get asked it a lot, but the reason we roll our eyes and sigh about it is we don't know how to answer it. We Don't know how to answer it because we don't know. We have absolutely no idea but we can't say that because then everyone will know we're frauds and then the gig is up.
Really, ideas are everywhere. They are EVERYWHERE, spinning around the universe waiting to smack us in the brain and drive us crazy. They're so ubiquitous, in fact, that they kind of mean nothing at the same time that they are invaluable. The idea for strawberry shortcake came from the same place as the idea for white people to get cornrows, and neither of those ideas affected the world until someone did something with them. We all have ideas every day that sit fallow and forgotten.
I couldn't tell you today when I first had the idea that would become our adaptation of Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights, but I can tell you it sat in the back of my head for a long time.
“Heathcliff is genderqueer.”
I thought about how it would change the story, and I realized in some ways it made more sense. Then I got mad again thinking about how nearly every adaptation made Heathcliff white when he was described as a person of colour throughout the orignal material, and I promptly moved on with my life, because what was I going to do? Make a graphic novel adaptation of a book I'd read once in a single day in high school?
A few years later, Rori and I were talking about the various grand and ridiculous things about which we talk, and Wuthering Heights became the topic, as it does. I mentioned that I thought the story made a lot of sense if the main character were trans. She, having not read the story, nodded and took my word for it. The conversation moved on, probably to dumb jokes or a deep hang about the future of comics, or dumb jokes about the future of comics. That's how we do it.
The idea was in her mind now too, though, and so one could say that's when our collaboration began, even though we didn't know it yet.
AND THEN THE PANDEMIC!!
Around the end of 2021, we got a message from our very patient agent Janna (hi Janna!) with a question. An editor who was launching a new imprint at a major publisher, none of whom I will name for no reason in particular, was looking for queer adaptations of classic literature, and Janna asked us if we had anything for it. I said a prompt “Nope!” and hung up the phone, and we never talked about it again.
Except that Rori remembers the things I forget and she said “What about Wuthering Heights?” I blinked at her for a few minutes, confused because I'm not very smart. Also, we weren't on the phone.
Had the idea left my brain as soon as I passed it along to her, making it now her idea? Did we have shared custody of the idea? Or was it always mine and she had just adopted it?
One of the best things Rori ever did for me was to insist I start writing down in a single place every story idea I had, regardless of how detailed or thought-out it was. As a result, I have pages and pages and pages of story ideas, some a sentence long, others with extensive notes and characters and dialogue. Wuthering Heights never made it onto that list, somehow. I never imagined I would work on it until that moment talking with Janna about the opportunity.
But it was an idea I loved, an idea I wanted to read, but no one else was going to make it, so it had to be us. And now I could bring it out and get to know it and see what happened. Ideas are magical, but they're ultimately meaningless until they push us to take action and turn them into reality. In this blog, we're going to share how we're turning our Wuthering Heights into a reality.
Rosebelle Swan
what if.... Bella Swan has a fraternal twin sister by the name Rosebelle Marian Swan.
Growing up Rosebelle Swan has never seem to measure to sister Bella in their parents eyes even when She did everything perfect, but it's still not good enough.
When I got imprinted on by my friend Jacob Black instead of accepting the imprint like the other wolves Jake reject it which only devested me. Even Jake dosen't want to accept me since I'm not Bella, I had enough always being compare to my twin sister that when I graduate high school early. I decided to leave Forks instead of staying around and didn't tell anyone where I'm going.
My twin sister Bella was so understanding for me wanting to leave even when she's going through a horrible break up but she disen't need me to get through her break up she has our dad even jake. I gaved her my new phone number and made her promise not to give my new number to our parents or Jake or any of the pack which she did before I left without any backward glace.
I descided to move with my Aunt Anne and her husband Enrico Rivera. I always been close to both of them than I ever did with my own parents. They always wanted children of their own but Aunt Anne is unable to have a child of their own so they both treat me like the daughter they never had before which I don't mind since my parents never show me love like I wanted the one who did was both my Aunt Anne and Uncle Enrico their more my parents than my actual parents.
-------------
Emily Young the Imprint of Sam Uley understand why Rosabelle left Forks a few weeks after Jacob Black rejected his own imprint which broke Rose's part of the imprint but it dosen't mean that it hurt her anyless especially since she has always been under her sister's shadow. While the part of Rose's imprint broke it dosen't mean that Jacob's end also broke but on the contrary it still very much strong when he first imprint on her. Rose might have a chance of falling in love with someone else and get married if she want but Jacob dosen't have that luxury of beging with someone other than his imprint which is now impossible since he rejected her which cause her to leave washington all together, even the other wolves knows the only one who don't is Jacob himself.
Who was to busy beging the lap dog of Bella Swan the twin sister of his own imprint to care she left at all. Sooner or later he would regret rejecting his imprint before they even had a chance just because she wasn't Bella Swan. The only one who still has contact with Rose is bella herself and she isn't telling anyone where she is because she promise her sister she wouldn't tell anyone her where about unless Rose told herself that it was alright. Which the pack understand which they mostly wouldn't see Rose again, unless Bella get married if she even get married at all, which we doubt that Bells would ever marry Jacob shd may date him just fill the hole that Edward Cullen left from her heart but they are 100% sure that Bella would never marry Jacob.
----------------
I work so hard to gradute Collage after I moved to the Philipines with my Aunt and Uncle and I, Rosebelle Marian Swan has decided to attend Atenek de Manila University and work hard to graduate Early that by the time was 20 years old I already graduate and I only attending this University for about 3 years before graduating decided to make a name for my self as a singer and actress.
I got casted in my first movie when I was 20 years old as dyesebel herself in a Philippine television drama romance fantasy where she meet her co-star Nathan Raphael Dantes casted as Fredo the love intrest of Dyesebel, they became friends with one another but as months pass feelings for each other grew like no other that I manged to forget all about Jake and feeling unloved but with Nathan is different he makes me feel wanted and love like no one has ever show me. It wasn't before we end up together. He even heal her broken heart, I know then he is the man I wanted to spend the rest of life not Jacob. I'm glad Jacob reject me as his imprint if not I would have never been able to meet Nathan I wouldn't have left Forks and meet Nathan and that is something I never wanted to happen meeting Nathan is best that could have ever happen to my life.
---------------
3 years after, after Rosebelle left Forks Jacob manged to get Bella Swan as his girlfriend but the pack kniws that she has no feelings for him she was only using him to fill the hole Edward left behind 5 years ago. She only agree to be his girlfriend since she dosen't want to lose him to like she lost her leech of an ex-boyfriend. Bella was 22 years old by then attend Washington State University for her junior year of college.
2 years later...
Bella Swan was invited to a wedding in the Philipines which she attend alone since Jacob can't leave the tribe unprotected from Vampires even with his pack brothers not that Bella mine going alone to wedding it was like Bella dosen't want Jacob to come to wedding at all. Unknown to the pack the wedding inivation was from Rosebelle's wedding to her boyfriend Nathan Dantes who she dated for four years. It's why Bella didn't want Jake to come, bella travel to the philipines for Rosebelle's wedding which all the their friends and close family were their.
Tumblr media
(Rosebelle Marian Swan & Nathan Raphael Dantes)
They have huge wedding which bella should expected their both famous actor and actress making about a couple million a year. And Rose make even more beging a singer as well.
Bella was happy that Rosebelle found her own happiness that she deserve after many years of beging alone, she finally found the guy she want to spent the rest of her life and anyone call tell Rosebelle is happy with Nathan they are each other's better half.
Nathan gaved his new wife Rosebelle a song writen just for Rosebelle composed by a friend of their.
youtube
(Replace the name Marian River for Rosebelle Swan)
After the wedding Bella return to Forks after saying her goodbye to her Aunt Anne and Uncle Enrico Rivera along with her twin sister Rosebelle and her new husband Nathan, who plan to take Rose to Malamawi Island, the crown jewel of Basilan, for their honeymoon for a month.
Charlie Swan didn't ask why she travel to the philipines for a wedding which she lied about an old friend she has when she and Rose visit their Aunt when their kids just got married. Which he accepted by then charlie Swan already realized how he treated his youngest daughter always comparing her to Bella that she grow distant to him over the years and the only one she seem to get along with is Bella herself. He didn't even realized that she left he was to worried about Bella now he dosen't even know where she was or she was even alived, he regret many thing on how he never seem to pay attention on Rosebelle growing up that he didn't even know the most basic thing about her he thought her favorite color was green until Bella correct him that it was Red & Purple not green like he first thought it was like he didn't even know his youngest daughter.
Charlie Swan wasn't the only one who regret how he raised Rosebelle so did Renée Dwyer who never payed any mine to Rosebelle until she left altogether. Bella and Rosebelle are now 24 years old so they don't really need them anymore, but I know I wanted to make up for all the things I miss in Rosebelle's life I know charlie felt the same but we both know we can't turn back time we just need to keep moving forward maybe one day we might make up for our mistake with Rosebelle and we hope one day she would find it in her heart to forgive us.
------------------
A year after Rosebelle and Nathan Danates got married they were noth bless with twins a boy and a girl while their children where unexpected but they are still equally love by the time Rosebelle give birth to her twins she was already a 26 years old woman and her children was given the name Rosella Anne and Adrian Xavier Dantes.
Which Rosebelle and Nathan welcome their two children's birth and they were both over joy at the birth of their own children. Which Bella congrasulated them on Skype since she can't visit in person just after a year after her return from the philipines so they understand they she would most likely not meet the twins in person at less they can talk on skype when they grew up.
It wasn't long before Bella decided to break up with her boyfriend Jake Black who she been dating for almost 3 years now since she wasn't even in love with him to begin with she only agree to date him so that she would lose him like she did with Edward and by then the pack already destroy Victoria who wanted to kill for unknowingly getting her mate James killed by the Cullens in order to protect me.
Beside any feels I may have had with Edward has long fade after all it been 8 years since Edward left me and it's doubtful that they would come back for her and it's about time I move on with my life instead of living in the past like I have been doing since Edward left me.
"So in order for me to truely move on from Edward I decided to leave forks for a while decided to move yo the Philipines to near my Aunt Anne and her husband Uncle Enrico and be near my sister and her husband along with their two beautiful children. Maybe who knows I might find love again here like Rosebelle did" bella thought to herself.
3 months later...
Bella end up meeting a friend of her sister and brother-in-law, Richard who is well known Filipino actor, environmentalist and model. They fell in love with each other, it was like it was love at first seight that they are now dating each other and look together many people told them that.
Tumblr media
(Richard De la Cruz and Bella Swan)
Richard is the now who really help bella move on from Edward Cullen the moment they meet each other it was like Edward never even walk into to her life. She was glad to move to the Philipines because it allow her to meet the lovd of her life Richard this Bella was sure of she dosen't know what she'll do if she ever lost Richard he is her life if he isn't in it then life isn't worth living without him by herside.
Bella also meet the nine months old children of her sister which she quickly adore them. Growing up with their mother Renée, Bella never wanted children but if it was Richard then shecwould love them because they are the proof of their love to one another like Rosella and Adrian are the proof of Rosebelle and Nathan's love for each other.
By then Rosebelle isn't just an Actress, and singer, she also model, Misician and Dancer. While Nathan isn't just an actor anymore he is also a Model, Film Director, Film producer, Televation Direcfor, Dancer and Political. Both of them are known as the Primetime king and Queen.
They recently finish foing a tv show called Encantadia which is a Philippine television drama fantasy. Rosebelle cast as  Minea the fourth queen mother of the Kingdom of Lireo, and the mother of the four Sang'gres destined to be the keepers of the four elemental gems of the world of Encantadia. While Nathan casted as Raquim of Sapiro, he  is a Prince of the Kingdom of Sapiro. He is a cousin of Rama Armeo and the father of Hara Amihan of Lireo.
Tumblr media
(Rosebelle and Nathan as Minea and Raquim)
They both had fun acting in that TV show it was one of the best tv drama they did together and Dyesebel only coming in secound.
Bella Watching her sister act at her latest Tv show made her wanted to try beging an actress it look found to her so she try and her first Tv show as Alwina in Mulawin a Philippine television drama fantasy which she casted along side Richard that's when she realized her true calling as actress. And she even did Mulawin: The Movie is a Filipino fantasy action film sequel to the Mulawin television series. Which is very big hit.
17 years later....
Jacob Black regret ever rejecting his Imprint on Rosebelle 25 years ago, I don't even know if she's still single. I was stupid enough to reject her just for the chance to be with Bella who never loved him not even the 3 years they dated and now the pack recevied a wedding inivation to wedding which the pack attended only see his imprint that he rejected 25 years ago happily married and have two 17 years old son and daughter.
If I wasn't so stupid to reject Rosebelle I might have been happily married to Rosebelle by now and her twins could have been my own children, if only i wasn't stupid i would be happy like the rest ofmy pack mates.
Chapter 10 : Dress Hunting
Tumblr media
Her heart sank, more from disappointment than sadness, when she met Janet three days later. The girl had no memories from the night of the crash. Though she remembered everything quite clearly from morning to the evening show; memories after the movie was vague and of the crash had vanished. It left her with not much choice but to stick with Wanda's deer theory. Deer or not, Matt was obstinate to have her driven around by himself or Rachael whenever Y/N needed to go out the past two weeks.
"Dad," Y/N whined, "please. I'll be home before seven." His stern face had begun to melt under her puppy-eyed looks. "Fine, but when you won't be buying anything, why do you need to go?"
"Criticism, to help them choose." Y/N wouldn't have to explain this to Rachael, had she been here. She had gone with Jade and his family on a three-day trip to Vancouver. Now that she was going to marry him, they had begun attending his family functions together. Matt didn't seem very pleased about the recent trip, nevertheless, he had to allow it.
"So, will you be okay with making dinner for yourself or should I bring in-"
"Y/N, I know how to cook. Besides, Aron had invited me quite many times to join him for dinner. I had turned him down due to work. Maybe I'll ask him out tonight."
"Okay. That sounds good. Have fun then."
"Yeah, you too," he said, sighing. "But be back soon. It will be a girls' night though?" He seemed a bit worried about Embry or any other boy from school joining them.
"Yeah, dad. It would be me, Emily, her sister Anna and maybe Lily." She assured him for the seventh time since last night.
"Okay," he placed a goodbye kiss on her forehead before leaving for the station.
Y/N left some sandwiches in the fridge in case Matt had a change of plans. Left a note on the dining table for Matt explaining where to find food if he needed it. They were to leave for Seattle soon after Emily and Lily were done with school. So as she waited in the driveway for them to arrive, she saw Anna walking out of Emily's doors.
Y/N waved to her and returning the gesture, Anna headed in her direction. She was sweet like Emily but tall unlike her and was a year older than Y/N. She had come there to inherit Emily's grandmother's cottage. The old woman had a weird clause that the girl had to stay three months in the cottage to inherit it. And today's dress-hunting trip was mostly due to her upcoming birthday.
Lily drove faster than Janet, so they made it to the store by 16.30. It had been a while since Y/N had been out without Matt's or Rachael's supervision. Music boomed in the car as Anna gibbered about the boys she had been in Montana. Then they talked about Janet and their disappointment when she couldn't join them. Lily was excited about being asked out to dinner by Robin, and from both her and Emily's accounts he seemed like a good guy and all of them were happy about it. Emily talked a bit about Embry. Anna seemed the most disbelieving when Y/N told her that she had never had a boyfriend or something.
Lily drove to McLaughlin's clothing store. Y/N sat by one of the windows near the dressing room as the three of them raked through the store and twirled in and out of the dressing room. After that, they drove to the department store for house supplies. They were midway through buying kitchen supplies when Rachael called.
"I had called dad, he told me you were out. Where are you right now?"
"Why does it matter to you? If dad wants to know where I am he can ask me right away. You-" A knot of anger swelled in her throat.
"Listen, I'm not prying or anything. I need you to do something for me." She interrupted harshly.
"Fine, what is it?" Y/N asked, trying to assume casualness.
"I was looking for dresses here... but the prices are way too high. If you are nearby..."
"I'm at Target, where do you want me to go?"
"I'll send you the location," she replied. "Do you have someone to have someone to drive you there?" Y/N looked at Lily if she was willing to help her out and she whispered, "Not an issue."
"Yeah," she answered, and waited for further instructions. "Good, I'll send you pictures of what I like. Check if something similar is available or I'll buy from here."
"Okay."
The four of them drove silently through the unusually thick traffic of 156th Avenue Road. After hearing about her added plans Anna insisted that she was done in the department store and would love to go with her dress hunting again. It was quite confusing for all of them since earlier Anna had prepared a long list of what she needed in the cottage and wanted to do all the shopping today itself so she can move into it this weekend. Emily reminded her that she needs to buy books and music records which would take much time, affecting their driving-home-early plans.
Finally, after checkout, she agreed to let Y/N go alone as they would to go to a half-price bookstore that sold second-hand books as well as movies and music in various formats. At first, they found it strange for Anna to use old technologies but she emphasised she loved to go back in time for her stay during the stipulated period. It felt silly to be nostalgic however the ways of living were quite good a decade back. They decided to meet at a Mexican Grill before parting ways.
The shop wasn't what Y/N had expected. It was a dimly lit house-turned-store with a not-so-large dress selection. Though she knew there won't be what Rachael had wanted yet she checked into it. She meandered through the streets, trying a few other stores nearby.
After disconnecting her long call with Rachael, Y/N realised how preoccupied she had been with the task and had failed to notice not only that it was thirty minutes past six but she had six missed calls and her battery was on the verge of dying. Glancing down at the map for her way out one final time before the battery ditched her, she wandered through the streets hoping to be headed in the right direction.
Y/N regretted not paying attention to where she was going earlier. Stomping through the streets that were lined by closed warehouse stores and outlet shops; fighting despair, she slowly realised that she had lost her way. Hugging her arms tightly at the elbows, she took a few deep breaths to calm down and tried to reconstruct the map as accurately as possible.
Y/N decided to turn west and was delighted to hear the distant rumble of traffic. She continued around a corner to enter a dark alley cluttered with trash bins, and water-stained cardboard boxes. Brick buildings flanked her on both sides. All the windows were greased over and barred. She picked my way down the alley. Broken glass crunched beneath her shoes. A flash of white darted between her legs, stealing her breath. Just a cat, vanishing into the darkness ahead. A slow, rattling noise drifted through the unsettling air.
She scanned around cautiously to detect a woman pushing through the garbage bags. Her dark eyes shone green and a predatory smile tugged her lips as soon as she caught sight of Y/N.
"What aye got here?" She said, walking towards her.
"Hello," Y/N said, clearing her throat and trying to sound friendly. "Can you please tell me how much farther to 156th Avenue Road?"
"I have got the directions." She said, tapping a finger on her forehead. "But I can't tell you for free. That's gonna cost you. A girl has to make a living. Nobody ever told you ain't nothing in life free?"
"I don't have any money." Not much, anyway.
"You got a nice warm coat."
Y/N looked down at her quilted jacket. A chilly wind ruffled her hair, and the thought of peeling the coat off sent a flush of goosebumps down her arms. "I just got this coat for Christmas."
"I'm freezing my ass off out here," she snapped. "You want directions or not?" Y/N couldn't believe she was standing here and bartering her coat with a homeless woman who had every chance of misleading her. But she didn't have much of a choice.
"Can you please tell me the way now?" Y/N shivered, hugging herself as the woman zipped into it.
"Walk straight from here. Take the third turn in the west, and then head north."
Y/N gritted her teeth as she headed in the direction that had been pointed.
Paul's Lullaby | part one
| next>
"Sam?" Paul was, he was in pain. He respect Sam and Emily's privacy, but he needed to talk to Sam now.
Paul wasn't angry, he was in pain. He felt like the world had opened up and swallowed him whole. He ruined his own life, and he didn't know where else to turn.
"Paul?" Sam asked, opening the door. Emily was behind him, face covered in concern.
"I imprinted tonight," Paul said, "but she hates me. She really, really hates me."
"I'm sure it's nothing you can't fix," Sam said, ushering Emily to come closer.
"Sam, I'm not exaggerating, she told me that she hates me. In fact, she should hate me." Paul looked at his feet, but only to try and hide the distress on his face. "If anyone treated her that way I used to, I'd rip them apart."
"Paul," Emily said, reaching out. Paul flinched back.
"I don't deserve your sympathy. I just, I don't know what to do."
"Be patient. Maybe you just have to prove you're a different man now," Emily offered a sad smile, but it was the exact thing Paul didn't want. He shouldn't pitied, he didn't deserve it. He could feel his heart bruise and falter. He broke his own heart and has no clue on how to fix it.
Emily had to go back to sleep, but Sam sat up with Paul for a while longer.
When Paul finally left, it was almost two in the morning. He took off running through the woods, shifting when he knew he was hidden by the tree line. He tried to outrun the heartbreak, but obviously it didn't work.
Tumblr media
You were sitting at your desk, staring at your computer. You wanted to work on your writing, but you were so angry at the audacity that Paul had.
You had done everything you could to avoid him the last couple years - and you managed to make it to the first day of summer after graduation. You'd run into him on the beach.
He was just such a jerk, acting like his words had no effect on anyone. Like he could just laugh behind your back and it wouldn't hurt.
But he used to tell people nasty rumours about you. Until nobody really wanted you around them. And then he had to take it that much farther, when you were both fifteen, he took you on a date, acted like he'd changed and grown. And right before he kissed you he said, "I know you fall for it."
That date alone triggered years of trust issues. You'd felt alone ever since.
Back to the beach, he was blocking the trail you needed to head down to get to work on time. You'd hoped that putting your head down and just trying to slide passed would work, but he recognized you. He tried talking to you, but you ignored him.
After taking a couple steps down the path he said, "don't be like that."
This made you look up, astounded that he would even say something like that. Until you finally looked into his eyes, and you recognized how beautiful he was. He also looked stunned, like he'd run into a glass door. He reached out to you, but recoiled, dodging his touch like he was on fire. Somehow, you'd felt even lonelier than ever.
One look at his face and you felt like you were missing something. You tried to keep your cool but you just couldn't. Tears brimmed at your eyes, and his friend Jared Cameron coughed, before walking to the water just to give you two some space.
"Y/N," he said, his voice low and hesitant. Making you panic, thinking he was toying with you again.
"Stay away from me," you warned, taking a defensive step back.
That hit Paul harder in the heart than you would ever know. His soulmate, his imprint, recoiling away from him defensively. He found the person he was supposed to protect, to be needed by, and you couldn't stand the sight of him.
"Just wait a second," he begged, not moving towards you again. He didn't want to scare you.
"I hate you," you whispered, and then louder said it again. And louder again. Until you had screamed it, and the tears had taken over your cheeks. Every time you said it was an arrow to Paul's heart. He nodded, and let you turn around to run off without another word.
You didn't notice him run into the woods, followed by his friend.
You called work saying you had a personal emergency, and then went back home for the night.
Back in the present, you were tearing up at the memory of it. You were sick, you think. Addicted to red flag behaviour because there was no way you were thinking of Paul's hurt face, and feeling bad for causing it. He should feel bad for all the pain he caused.
You looked at the clock, it was almost three in the morning, but you were too caught up in all your feelings to send yourself to bed. You walked to the window, and noticed some kind of animal by the tree line. You lived in the middle of the woods, in an old cabin your grandma used to live in. You moved in when she got sick but never moved out. You liked it. It was cozy. It was private.
Finally relenting, you crawl into bed and did your best to sleep.
The next day, you were walking along the same path on the beach. You offered to cover the shift of the girl who had covered yours at such last minute.
Paul was in the same spot, but alone this time. You tried to walk passed him without acknowledging him, but something stopped you. You didn't want to see him sad again, it hurt you. And it made no sense why, you'd spent two years hating him.
You were only a few steps passed him, so you turned around, gripping the end of your sweater sleeves in each hand.
Paul had his head down, but looked up when he heard you sigh. You were standing in front of him, looking so terrified to speak to him. Paul could've started crying.
"I'm sorry about yelling at you like that yesterday," you said. "I should've just walked away so... sorry."
"Don't be sorry," he said, a flash of excitement crossed his eyes, and you mistook it for something sinister. You tried to remain calm, but you were feeling lightheaded. You just couldn't trust his motives. "I deserved it."
Now that, threw you for a bit of a loop.
Fool me once, you thought.
"I still think we should just keep our distance," you said. "You kind of broke my heart."
"I'm really sorry about that, I was trying to impress the seniors. I was a tool. An idiot."
"Finally we agree on something," you said. He looked at you, and you both let out a small smile. He pushed some sand with his foot. His bashfulness made you want to believe him. "I work just up the hill. You can walk me if you want."
"Can I walk you home when you're done?" he asked, quickly falling in perfect tandem with you.
"No," you said. "But you can walk with me right now."
"I'll take it," he said.
"Why do you want to talk to me anyway? I thought you hated me," you said.
"I could never hate you," he said. "I do hate how I treated you though. Not my finest hour."
"I think your finest hour remains to be seen."
Paul stayed quiet after that. And you were oddly comfortable in the silence. You're not even sure why you invited him to come along, but some sick part of you wanted him to. You wanted to reach out and touch him. His arms just looked so welcoming, and the way he stretched his hand open and shut made you think he wanted the same thing. But you couldn't let him in, not after one day.
"Have a good shift," he said, putting his hands in his pocket.
You smiled at him ,and thanked him for walking you. When you smiled, he smiled. And you caught onto that.
Paul had been standing in the same spot every day to walk you to work. Out of curiosity, on one of your days off, you snuck close to the spot to see if he was there. And he was, leaning against the same railing, in the same spot that he waited for you everyday.
You got comfortable in a cozy little spot in the trees. You wanted to see how long he waited for you. You dozed off before you could get your question answered.
You woke up hours later, when the sun was already setting. You hated walking through the trees in the dark. You started walking on your own, but you had a bad feeling in the pit of your stomach. So you swallowed your pride and called someone you knew would answer.
Tumblr media
Paul was sitting at Sam and Emily's table, enjoying the dinner she made while waiting for his turn to go on patrol. It was Jared and Quil out there now. Paul could hear Seth snoring on the couch, making him laugh. Things that used to annoy him, didn't really seem to annoy him anymore. Not since you started letting him walk you to work. He even got Sam to let him change his patrol times to make sure he could be there every day.
His phone rang, and with a mouthful of food checked the number. He almost chocked on his food when he saw your number. He answered, hitting his chest to dislodge the food.
"Y/N, hi," he said, big grin on his face as he stood up and walked outside. Behind his back, Emily and Sam shared a knowing look, and he leaned in to kiss his wife.
Paul noticed Jared sitting nearby with Kim, and didn't think too much of it with you on the line.
"This may sound stupid," you said, "but can you walk me home? I don't like to go in the dark."
"You never let me walk you home," he said.
"If this is a bad time, it's okay," you said, disappointment clear in your voice.
"No, no... where are you? I'll be right there." He stepped back inside the house to grab his shoes, but the sound of you gasping stalled his movements.
"I'm by our meeting spot," you said. His grin returned when you called it that. "It's so dumb, I wanted to see if you went there when I didn't work and fell asleep."
"You were spying on me?" he asked. You were silent on the other end and he laughed. "I'll be right there."
"Who are you?" you asked.
"Huh?"
He heard you scream, as did Sam and Emily who's cheeky glances turned to concern quickly. "Y/N?" he asked, panicked. He was already running outside, Sam on his heals.
"Jared!" Sam shouted, "Why aren't you on patrol?"
"Seth said he'd do it!" Jared yelled back. Paul dropped his phone, and shifted, running top speeds to where you said you were.
Never in his whole life had he been this scared. He could hear Jared apologizing for the mixup in his thoughts, but Paul didn't really care what he had to say. If you were hurt, Paul would die. Paul would simply die.
He needed you to be there safe.
I knew something was wrong, Embry thought. Paul didn't even see him show up. Sorry I didn't act on it.
Shut the shit up and run, dammit!
When he got to the meeting point, you were gone, but your bag was abandoned nearby. Paul sniffed it, getting your current scent memorized. He took off when he found the trail. He also smelled a retched, filthy bloodsucker. It wasn't one of the Cullens. No, this was different. And it started at the water, that's how it got passed their lines. Not that they had enough people around.
Paul howled, the pain in it was evident for anyone around. It was him saying get here, or suffer the consequences.
I don't smell their blood, Jared thought.
You don't get to talk about them. This anger didn't derive from a bad temper, it was fear. It was just fear talking.
Paul kept running, catching a fork in the scent trails. One way was Quil, Leah and the bloodsucker. And the other was you, all alone. Alone but alive. If he couldn't hear Leah or Quil think, that was a good sign. Meant that they'd changed back, and Leah would never do that unless she killed them.
Go to her, we'll find Leah. Sam nodded at Paul.
Tumblr media
You were crying as you ran, clumsy feet stumbling over tree roots and your own blurred vision totally betrayed you. Someone had come out of the water, eyes red like rubies. And they were so pretty that you just had to look at her. Until the showed her teeth, forcing you to flee in fear. She was faster than you, but you think she was playing with you.
And then if that wasn't scary enough, when she was jumping down from a tree to kill you, a wolf jumped from the shadows and grabbed the woman. And it was her turn to flee. Another wolf jumped out, and you were sure you were a goner.
But it just chased after the other two. Leaving you alone and confused.
You stumbled back to your feet, running as fast as you could towards your cabin. You would be safe in there. Maybe. It was the best you could do right now.
You cried harder when you thought you heard more rustling in the trees. You were at your door, struggling to get your keys out and unlock the door. When you did, you slammed it shut and locked it behind you. You dove over the sofa and kept your eyes on the door, as if that's all it took to keep you safe.
Your phone was lost somewhere in the woods, but you could still hear them. Out there. Maybe it wasn't real.
There was a feverish knocking on your door, and you couldn't peel yourself away from the couch.
"Y/N! Are you in there," Paul shouted. Oh my God, thank everything, it's Paul.
"Paul, I'm coming," you struggled, fighting through your tears to answer. It killed him, but he was so happy you were okay.
You opened the door, and cried even harder when you saw his face. You couldn't hate him now, now when he came running for you. He ignored his usual boundaries and pulled you in for a hug. He was so warm wrapped around you. Your arms were still tucked into your chest. And his totally encompassed you.
"Just breath, honey," he said, rubbing his hand up and down your back. You tried to take his advice, but you couldn't focus.
"You came for me."
"I always will, you can always call me. I will always come running," he said. And you believed him.
"Will you stay with me tonight?" you asked, pushing yourself away from him enough to look up at his face. His features were uncharacteristically soft as they looked down at you.
"Of course," he said. He kissed your forehead, and you felt the instinct of pushing him away - but you ignored it this time.
"On the couch," you said.
"Sure, honey." He brushed his hands up and down your biceps, helping you take a few deep breaths. "I'm not going anywhere, don't worry."
"I don't understand what happened," you said, pushing yourself away from him. "She came out of the water, and then she..."
"It's okay," he cooed, "you don't have to say anything."
"And this doesn't change anything," you said. "I trust you with some things but not other things."
"Some things?" he asked, more amused than anything.
"I trust you with my life, not my heart."
"We'll work on it," he said, pulling you in close for another hug.
"Yeah," you agreed. "We'll work on it."
Promise - Jacob Black
Tumblr media
•••
“He’s asking to see you,” Carlisle says to Bella as he walks out of the house. Upon hearing this, your head shoots up and your eyes widen in curiosity. Why would he want to see her first?
It had been a rough night for everyone. Carlisle spent so long breaking his bones to put them back into place, Jacob’s painful cries breaking your heart each time they rang out. Paul and Embry sat beside you, comforting you when they did. They knew how you felt about Jacob, everyone did. Besides Jacob.
You were hopelessly in love with him, yet he was in love with Bella. He had been for so long, yet he never saw that she didn’t feel the same. Embry always reassured you, though, that Jacob felt something for you as well.
It’s just that Bella was his main focus, his first choice. And you were nothing. That proved to be true when the first person he wants to see after all this is her.
“Hey, it’s okay,” Embry whispers, rubbing your arm, warming you up instantly. You can’t help the tears that fall from your eyes, hating that you loved someone who didn’t love you back.
“No, it’s not, Em. I need to stop, I can’t keep doing this to myself.”
The pack of wolves share looks with one another, hearing Jacob’s thoughts as Bella gets up to leave, their conversation finished. Bella steps outside and looks to you with an awkward grin on her face.
“He wants to talk to you,” she says. Taking a moment, you nod and she leaves, Embry standing with you.
“Are you sure you want to, (Y/N)?” He asks. You nod and take a deep breath. He pulls you in for a hug, Paul doing the same seconds later.
Finally, you slowly make your way inside straight to Jake’s room, which thankfully moved to a larger room in the house than the small back room he was living in.
“Hi,” you murmur, stepping in and closing the door behind you.
“Hey,” he chokes out, struggling to breathe a little. You kneel on the ground next to his bed, not really knowing what to say.
“Were you crying?” He wonders. A low chuckle escapes your mouth and you wipe your cheeks.
“Uh, yeah. It wasn’t easy hearing you scream out like that. Everyone was at least tearing up.”
“Not Bella,” he says in a spiteful tone. You scoff immediately, realizing there was no going back from what you were about to say.
“She doesn’t care about you like that, Jacob. She loves Edward, and it’s time you move on,” you tell him.
“She does care about me. I know she does, she just doesn’t want to admit it because she’s scared.”
“Do you not hear yourself? She’s been with Edward for over a year, and she’s told you multiple times she feels nothing more than a friendship with you. Find someone else, someone who is willing to love you for you, and not because you’re a distraction and only seeing you as a friend.”
“Oh really? Where am I supposed to find someone like that, huh?” You laugh cynically and stand up.
“Right fucking here, Jacob. I have loved you for so long, yet you never saw it because you were so hung up with Bella. And honestly, I’m sick of this. I’m done trying to get your attention, I’m done trying to love you, and I’m done with whatever this is. I can’t keep being around you, reminded of how you will never look at me the way you look at Bella, or how I could possibly be your imprint, based on what Sam says, and how you will never feel the same way for me as I feel for you. It’s exhausting, and quite frankly, it’s not worth it anymore. Goodbye Jacob.”
You turn and walk out, not giving him a chance to explain, fearing that you would fall back into his arms if he even spoke of how sorry he was. You needed time, and you were hoping he would give that to you.
Embry immediately brings you into his arms when you step outside, comforting you as you quietly cry into his shoulder.
“Embry, why don’t you take her home,” Billy tells the young wolf. He nods and pulls away from you, grabbing your hand to take you to his car.
“How did it go?” Embry asks as you start the drive back into Forks.
“I told him he needs to move on from Bella, to find someone else who will love him for him. He got mad because he still believes Bella loves him and will leave Edward.”
“Did you tell him you love him?”
“Yeah,” you whisper. “I told him that someone is right in front of him, but it’s too exhausting to love someone who doesn’t love you back. I left before he could say anything else. I just...need space from him right now.”
“I know I shouldn’t tell you, because this telepathy is kind of invasive, but I hear him kicking himself right now. He’s thinking about how much he ruined your friendship and how awful he feels.”
“He didn’t feel too awful when I, coming to him as a friend, told him that what he is chasing after is no use.”
“I know, I know. But I just wanted to tell you that your words got to him, so you did the right thing.” A small smile breaks out onto your face and Embry notices.
The rest of the drive, you turn the radio on and listen to the soft songs play while you watched the tall trees pass by. When Embry got to your house, he was planning on leaving right away, but you ask him to stay.
“Would you stay with me? Just for tonight?” You ask. He agrees right away, seeing as you’ve gone through a lot within the past couple hours and being alone probably wasn’t the best option.
“We can have a movie night like we used to, before the whole shape-shifting thing,” he smiles, walking inside with you.
“That sounds great. I need a break from everything. I’ll get the popcorn and sodas, you find a movie. Comedy, please.”
“Of course.”
The days pass and Embry is now gone. He stayed with you the first couple days after everything happened. He knew you needed some company to lift your mood, and thankfully, he did.
You were much happier and coming to terms with how things ended with Jacob. Embry of course had to tell you what was going on, just so you were in the know. Jake had fully healed by now, and according to Paul, he was planning on visiting you sometime soon.
And that just so happened to be today.
You were doing some chores around the house when a knock sounds on your front door. Pausing your music, you answer it, thinking it’s the delivery man, as you were expecting a package, but to your surprise, you find Jacob.
“Uh, hi,” he mumbles, shoving his hands in his pockets, rocking on the balls of his feet.
“Hi,” you clear your throat, not really knowing what to do or say.
“Um, I wanted to talk to you about what happened,” he begins. Seeing as it was a nice, rainy day out, you step outside, shutting the door behind you, and guide him over to the porch swing.
“What is it that you wanted to say exactly?” You ask, staring forward, not wanting to look at him just yet.
“I was an idiot. I let my emotions get the best of me and didn’t think about anyone else but myself.”
“You got that right,” you mumble to yourself, though Jacob hears.
“I’m sorry, (Y/N). I’m sorry for not seeing that you loved me and being so...caught up in someone else.”
“You don’t need to be sorry about that, Jake. You can’t help who you love. But when it comes down to it, the thing I’m upset about is the fact that even after Bella told you so many times that she doesn’t love you like you love her, you still tried to pursue her. You didn’t let her go like you should have an found someone who actually cares for you.” He nods along to your words, which were very similar to what you said to him a few nights ago.
“I see that now. I got a stern talking from both my dad and Sam, and the rest of the pack, and I can’t believe how horrible I’ve been acting and…” He looks at you, finding you staring at him already. Although you didn’t really want to see him, you still felt some sort of love for him. Watching him talk was so mesmorizing.
His mouth opens and closes as he tries to say something, and he soon realizes what it is. You are in fact his imprint. You feel it too. He’s told you about imprinting before, when he told you about Sam and Emily, and the feeling he described his imprintee would feel, this was it.
“Jacob,” you whisper.
“God, I am so fucking stupid,” he finally breaks the stare to lean his arms on his knees, his head in his hands, disappointed in himself. Your hand comes up to rub his shoulder, making him flinch a little.
“Sorry,” you murmur, removing your hand. Jacob sits back up and shakes his head.
“I just, I can’t believe you’re the one. I’m so dumb.”
“Well, yeah,” you chuckle. “But again, you can’t help who you fall for.”
“Except for I could. I could have dropped Bella, but I didn’t. And I hope you understand how truly sorry I am.”
“Are you sorry for it because you’re sorry for it, or because I’m your imprint?”
“I am sorry for it, and the imprint goes with it because I feel the pain I put you through. I can feel how heartbroken you are, and I hate myself for it.”
“I mean, I’m still not happy about how everything went down, and how you still refused to think Bella wouldn’t leave Edward for you. But, I’m not going to reject the imprint, and I know we can’t be away from each other for long, so we’re going to have to work through this.”
Jacob smiles softly and holds his hand out for you to take. Reluctantly, you place your hand in his, which immediately closes around it.
“I promise to never hurt you like this again. If you give me a chance to love you, or if that’s no longer an option, then I’ll be your protector. You’re by my side forever.”
“Jake, you really did hurt me,” his face falls, nodding his head. “But I can’t say that I don’t love you anymore. All I’ve thought about these past couple days after Embry went to sleep, was you. How I wanted to be spending time with you, but you were in love with another girl.”
“I’ll wait as long as you need me to,” he whispers, squeezing your hand. “If it means we can be together, because I want to give this a chance, a chance to do things right and not have someone else in the way.”
“You do?”
“Yeah. I’ve thought over everything since you left and with Bella out of my mind, I was finally able to think about you. And all the times that we’ve spent together, when I talk about Bella and your face would just slightly fall. I remembered all the little things that you did because you loved me, but I never saw them. But trust me, that part of my life is over. She’s gone, and it’s just us going forward.”
“You promise?” You grin a little. Jacob nods.
“I promise. And I won’t be breaking that anytime soon.” You curl up into his side, your head falling to his shoulder.
“Good. Because she stole too much of our time together and I can’t lose you again.”
“Hey,” he whispers, sitting up and tilting your chin so you look at him. “You’re not gonna lose me. We have this special connection now. And no one is going to steal you from me. Ever again. I mean..”
“Unless it’s our child?” Jacob chuckles, finding it funny that you were thinking the exact same thing, leading him to think that a relationship is very much possible in the future.
“Exactly, darling.”
Embry Call x Reader
5058 words
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Most of my life has been spent in the Forks area so getting to travel to Europe for six months to see the art and culture was a dream come true. The past four months I’ve been travelling through Europe, starting in Greece and ending my trip in the Irish countryside.
The old art and architecture filled me with a joy that I could not get anywhere else in the world. The smells, sounds and sights all played their own part into the experience. I got to see the moon rise over Mount Olympus, the David by Michelangelo in the Vatican, tour through the Louvre, drink wine on the beaches of France and so much more. I’ve been living my best life.
It's been a dream to see the world, I've met so many new people and tried so much food. I’ve enjoyed every minute of my trip, but there was a part of me that longed for the beaches of La Push.
That part is Embry. Embry Call. My boyfriend, my pal, my love and my light. To me Embry is my everything and to him I’m his everything. That is one thing that has been made perfectly clear the past four months I’ve been away. Every day he’s told me he misses me and I know he means it, I’ve been told not just by him but also the rest of the pack.
Everyday I’ve woken up to ‘Good morning I miss you.” Sometimes he phones to tell me that he feels like he might die if I’m away for any longer. I always chuckle and tell him he will survive, it’s not like I’m going away forever; but that's what he feels like it is. This usually earns me a long winded whine from the other end of the line.
My phone buzzed against the smooth surface of the bedside table while Embry’s face flashed across my screen signalling that he’s calling. A smile graces my lips as I pick up the phone to be greeted with his loving voice.
“Hi (y/n)!! I miss you so much.” sadness was laced in his usual cheery greeting, it hurt my heart to be away from him but I would never trade this experience for anything. I’ve been planning this for years and I wasn’t going to pass up cheap plane tickets.
He filled me in on the pack's shenanigans, complaining about how they keep teasing him for being glued to his phone awaiting any updates I would send him. The later it got the heavier my eyelids seemed to feel, my speech started to slur with exhaustion of time zones while Embry continued to become more energetic with each passing minute.
“Em. . .” A yawn interrupted me mid sentence, a low whine emanated from the phone as he knew I would want to get to bed to have the energy for the long trip I’ll embark on tomorrow for Ireland, which is my last stop. I’d be spending the remaining two months of my trip in the lush countryside.
“I think I should get to sleep, I have a long day ahead of me tomorrow.” I mumbled into the phone.
“But (y/n)!” he dragged out. I knew he wanted to talk longer but I physically cannot do it. Even though Embry and I don’t live together officially yet, we’d talk into the early morning till one of us fell asleep.
“But (y/n) what?” I dragged out the ‘a’ matching his whine.
“I miss you and want you to come home.” I could hear him pause over line before he continued.
“Besides, sleeping isn’t the same without you.”
I ran my hand through my hair gently tugging on the roots easing the tension that’s built up over my trip. As much fun as I’ve had, he does have a point. Sleeping just isn’t the same without Em. My nights have been spent restless in beds that aren’t mine without the comforting touch of my boyfriend; but that doesn’t mean I can just drop everything and go back home.
“Em you know I can’t just pack everything and go home. . .” I looked at the painting that hung over the tv that sat opposite of my bed. A puppy-like whimper fell from his lips when he spoke again, his voice cracked like he was going to cry. It broke my heart hearing him upset.
“I-I know I just really miss you.”
“I know Embry I miss you too, but it’s only two more months then I’ll be home.”
We chatted for ten more minutes before I fell asleep on the phone. As much as I missed falling asleep in his warm embrace I can’t just fly back home, not yet at least.
The blaring of my alarm woke me from my slumber. The clock face read 6:02 a.m. taking everything within myself to peel back the blankets that encased me in their warm grip. I patted through the bed sheets to find my phone only to knock it onto the floor in the process.
My lock screen adorned a photo of Embry with icing smudged across his face from his birthday party but a swamp of text messages from the pack covered my favourite photo of him. Five texts from Leah, seven from Jake, nine texts from Paul, 12 texts and two missed calls from Sam and a whole group chat titled ‘(y/n) come home.’
The group chat kept pinging with the members of the pack who were still awake discussing the logistics of flying out to Ireland to take me back home. Was Embry really causing that much strife in the pack for them to create a group chat? Knowing him, it couldn’t be too far from the truth.
Leah and I call once a week to check in and make sure the other is doing okay since I left. It’s one of my favourite parts of the week being able to have a one on one with someone sensible. Every week she fills me in on Embry begrudgingly, she does it because she knows it makes me happy which I appreciate.
Reading through her texts she didn’t say much in regards to Em’s behaviour the only message relating to him was “come get your man child please, he’s getting snot on the floor.”
I listened through Sam’s voice mails which were begging me to come home, he informed me that once Em knew I was asleep he started moping around Emily’s house again for the fourth consecutive night in a row. This was news to me.
The texts entailed that Embry was becoming a pain on patrol and that Paul ‘couldn’t take another minute of the incessant whining.’ I told them the same thing I told Embry; I’m not dropping everything and rushing back home to sooth the wails of a love sick boy. There isn’t much I can do from across the ocean anyway.
I stretched my body and headed towards the bathroom to brush my teeth and shower before I had to leave for the airport.
I packed the few remaining things I left out to prepare for the flight and headed my way to the lobby to check out. I enjoyed travelling but I wasn’t going to miss sleeping in hotels and hostels.
Two weeks have passed since I touched down in Ireland and to say I’ve been having the time of my life is an understatement; I’ve been having a ball living my best life.
The land was capped in a luscious emerald green sea of grass that waved in the wind, the roads were lined with hand built stone walls that marked the division of farmers fields.
Sheep and cattle grazed in pastures, and old castles dotted the countryside. It was gorgeous. It was a view that I wanted to see again, a view I want to see with Embry.
It felt like time was flying by between sight seeing, trail hiking, museum tours and calls with Embry and Leah. It has already been a month. I had one more month before I was to jet set back to the U.S. and see my Embry.
One more month before I was back in La Push surrounded by the scent of sea water and trees with the looming threat of rain constantly overhead except in the summer. For two months of the year La Push was bright and sunny with the expected summer storms that happened.
I had fallen asleep on the phone with Embry again when I realized my phone was lost in the sea of sheets as it buzzed with an incoming phone call.
I couldn’t find it until the call had gone to voicemail and my phone landed on the ground when I gave up and ripped the blankets off of the bed but whoever called must have felt it was really important. Picking up my phone the most unflattering photo of Jacob was plastered on the screen, his name in white.
“Hello?” I asked groggily into the phone, rubbing the sleep from my eyes. I looked over at the clock which said in bold red numbers 1 am.
“Hey (y/n)! You sound like you just woke up.” I heard him chortle from the other end.
“That’s because I just woke up Jake, it’s one in the morning.” a yawn escaped my lips, I know I’ll have a rough time getting over jet lag when I go home.
He occupied twenty minutes with idle chatter and borderline interrogation about all the sights I’ve seen before I asked him why he was calling me so early in the morning
“Embry has spent the week at my house, you need to come home there’s nothing we can do anymore to occupy him till you return.” He sighed, Jake knows I want to finish my trip but we made a deal that I would come home early if there were absolutely no options left to keep Embry from sending the pack into hysterics.
I knew he was buttering me up for something.
“Are you sure you can’t figure something out? It’s just another month!”
“Another month of him eating my cereal and getting dirt on me from my dad!”
I snorted with laughter at the fact that Billy was telling Embry every embarrassing detail from his childhood.
“Jake please just let me think about it okay?” I sighed, flopping back into my hollowed cave of blankets and sheets.
“Okay, I’ll let you think about it but don’t think I won’t be telling Sam.” he warned.
We laughed together and he wished me a good night before hanging up the phone, before I slipped back into slumber I sent Jake one more text.
‘You wake me up at one in the morning again and it’s over for you.’ in which he responded with ‘Oh no I’m so scared lol.’
I reached over to the bedside table and plugged my phone in before the sweet embrace of warmth and slumber took over my senses.
The next three days I was bombarded with texts from Paul whining about the wolf mind link and how every patrol shift he had with Embry was spent tuning out his constant thoughts of me.
Standing in the shower with hot water running over my skin soothing my tense muscles I heard my phone buzz against the granite countertop. I rolled my eyes and continued to bask in the endless hotel hot water.
As bad as staying in hotels could be, the hot water made up for the early breakfast and sheets that were tucked in a little too tightly.
I had shampoo in my hair when my phone started buzzing again, this time with a call. I grumbled under the stream of water washing away the soap before it could get in my eyes; whoever's calling can wait.
I moved on to conditioning my hair, letting it sit while I wash the rest of my body with a lightly scented lavender soap.
I refused to use the complimentary soap because it dried out my skin and the lotion just left me feeling sticky instead of moisturized.
Watching the soap run down the drain my phone rang again, I clenched my fists, who could possibly be calling me now? I still refused to get out of my steamy heaven to answer my phone.
My gut told me that whoever was calling wouldn’t let up until I answered. I washed out the conditioner from my hair and wrapped it in a towel.
The mirror was coated in a layer of steam, the tiles were cool against my feet. I wrapped the plush towel around my body, mopping up the droplets of water that remained.
My phone started vibrating with rapid fire text messages from the pack’s group chat they made a month ago. I sighed, picking it up to sift through the messages. I read a message from Jared telling me he’d pay me to return.
The pack always made me laugh, together they’re a walking sitcom. There is never a dull moment with them, someone always had something witty or sarcastic to say.
I checked to see who had called me and it turned out it was Sam, I listened to his voice mails and immediately phoned him back.
As soon as I hit the call button it only rang for half a second before he picked up.
“Thank you for calling back, I thought I’d have to call two more times.” he chuckled.
“Well I was in the middle of a shower, can’t really take a call there.” I moved through the room with my phone pressed between my shoulder and cheek. Stopping at my suitcase to pick out what I was going to wear for the day.
“I’m going to be frank with you, I need you to come home. . .” I let out a huff before he continued.
“Embry needs you badly, he’s just a pile of mush on the floor now. It’s a chore to get him up to go on patrol. Please?”
“Fine, I’ll see what I can do Sam, I’ll try to book a flight for the earliest date I can find.” I knew I was giving in but from what they were telling me and the constant texts were getting to be difficult to manage.
“Thank you, when you get back I’ll buy you take out for a month okay?”
“I hate that you know what my weakness is.” I laughed through the phone, a month of free take out? Hell yeah. It made the prospect of going back a little brighter since I wasn’t going to complete the rest of my trip.
I wasn’t losing out on too much though, I had seen and done everything that I wanted. It wouldn’t be too bad to go home early.
We talked for a couple more minutes before parting ways, I threw my phone on the bed and watched it bounce a couple times before turning my attention back to getting dressed. Since I had a flight to book it was okay to spend the rest of the day lounging in pj’s.
The soft fabric of my pj’s brushed against my skin as I jumped into bed with my computer in hand, and now it was time to book a flight back home. Maybe text Paul and tell him he can quit complaining as well.
I woke up the next morning with my flight booked for take off in the afternoon and my daily good morning text from Embry. I felt a little sad to be leaving such a beautiful country but the trees, ocean and Embry all called my name.
Pacing through the room I grabbed the comfiest set of clothes I packed for my return flight back to Seattle, I had enough time to sleep on the plane to be conscious enough for the three and a half hour drive back to La Push.
I was set for a long day ahead of me but it was going to be worth it in the end, seeing the bright and happy face of my boyfriend, getting to hug him and kiss him again.
I made one last check of the room before I gathered my clothes and toiletry kit and made my way into the bathroom to shower before my long flight. As I was stepping into the shower my phone pinged from the counter with a text from Sam.
“Have you booked that flight yet?” it read.
“Yeah I’m due for take off at 1. I should be back in La Push some time tomorrow!”
My fingers brushed the cool surface of the counter top as I put my phone back and got into the shower, hot water immediately running down my back; this time my phone wasn’t being blown up by a desperate wolf pack trying to get my attention.
I can’t sit in the shower for hours on end this time, I have a flight to catch and a boy to surprise. Embry was currently still under the impression that I would be coming home in two weeks. Boy would he be in for a surprise.
The residual steam wafted out of the bathroom while I brushed my teeth revealing my towel wrapped body and hair in the mirror behind the skin. I checked the time and noted that I had two hours to check out, make my way to the airport, and check into my flight back home. Two more hours before I could smell the trees and ocean, two more hours before I could see my friends and hug Embry.
The time managed to move by in a blur by the time I was shutting the trunk of the yellow cab that was going to drop me off at the airport. I got into the back seat and the driver peeled away from the hotel front onto the winding roads.
“Aye where are you headin’?” The driver inquired in a thick Irish accent.
One thing I noticed in my stay here was that the accent changed in every town or village I passed through. It added to the charm
“Well, I’m on my way home after spending six months in Europe.” My eyes scanned over the green hills that rushed past in a blur.
“My favourite places I’ve been have definitely been Ireland and Greece.” I smiled towards him.
The lines around his eyes crinkled with the smile that graced his face at the mention of Ireland.
“Well that’s good to hear innit? Glad you’ve enjoyed your stay. We welcome ya with open arms if you return.”
We held a light conversation until we arrived in front of the drop off area for passengers, thanked him and grabbed my bags before heading into the crowded lobby.
The front of the terminal was metal and glass that reached towards the heavens with automatic doors gaping open like a mouth. Inside was a dull white with light grey floor which my shoes clicked against with each step.
It was packed with people like a can of sardines, I weaved my way through the masses towards the check in desk which thankfully only had a short line to get through.
Under the mix of fluorescents and natural light the desk lady’s bags that donned under her eyes glared with visible exhaustion from the mass amounts of people that swarmed the terminal.
Despite her clear drowsiness she still greeted me with a warm smile and a soft hello.
I grabbed my ticket and thanked her then turned and pushed myself through to the security check, dropped my luggage off and took a seat to wait for the boarding call for my flight.
As I waited grey clouds started to fill the sky blocking out the little sun that was once shining in its place.
My eyes grew heavier by each minute that passed, waiting could be hard, but waiting in an airport where there’s no sense of time is worse. So I distracted myself by people watching.
A lady was bouncing her baby, the old man across from me was snoring. A businessman paced back and forth speaking urgently into his phone, a family chatted excitedly for their family trip to the Canary Islands.
I pulled my eyes away from them as the call for my flight rang out over the crowded terminal, grabbing my suitcase and making my way towards the gate.
Excitement filled my every step as the anticipation grew and bubbled inside me. I gave the greeting flight attendant a small smile and made my way to my seat, for being last minute I managed to get a window seat.
We sat on the tarmac for twenty minutes before taking off and before I knew it the seat belt light pinged off and I was fast asleep jet setting my way back to America, back to my home.
I couldn’t tell what time it was when I woke up but the clock on the tv screen said 2 a.m. and that we’re due to arrive in an hour. I sat up in my seat and gazed out the window into the starry night sky.
Energy started to course through me as I watched the arrival time tick closer and closer. A light rain misted down over Seattle as I left the Seatac terminal and made my way through the maze of cars in the night that was made darker by the rain.
I spotted my blue Subaru and popped the trunk so my interior and seats wouldn’t get wet. It had been a long six months since I last sat in my driver's seat, the wheel almost felt foreign in my hands as I turned the key and listened to the engine roar to life.
I drove through the winding roads of the city to the Seattle-Bainbridge Ferry to take the 45 minute ride into Bainbridge and headed North to get on the 101 then turn onto 110 which would take me back into the heart of La Push.
The closer I got to Forks the brighter the sky became; well as bright as it could be on a gloomy day. The clouds became painted in the glow of purple and pink as the sun rose over the horizon, the rain had let up and left me with an overcast sky for the remainder of the drive back.
Since I slept virtually the entire flight back I didn’t feel the weight of exhaustion at all, but surely when I arrived back in the arms of Embry I knew I’d hit the wall with sleep deprivation.
As I barreled through the corridor of trees I passed the signature ‘welcome to Forks’ sign and turned right onto the 110, twenty minutes to home. I was so close but my soul felt like it was light years away.
The clock on my radio told me that it was currently 6:45, the pinks and purples that coated the sky faded away to the typical grey that fills my senses with delight. Sea salt and washed up kelp started to seep into the air that circulated into my car making the hair on the back of my neck stand on end.
Closer to Beach Drive I got the stronger the smell of the ocean became. The turn signal clicked as I turned onto the road that gave way to Sam and Emily’s house so they could take me over to Embry’s in the off chance that he happened to be awake at this hour.
It’s highly unlikely that he would be up at this hour but it’s not something I could be one hundred percent positive about. I stepped out of my car and turned around to see Emily running as fast as she possibly could towards me with open arms and a huge smile plastered across her face.
Dropping my bags I dashed across their lawn into her embrace.
“Oh (y/n)! I missed you so much, you must be so tired.” She released me from her hug and settled her hands on my shoulders giving them a gentle squeeze.
“I missed you too Emily, I knew I’d be tired but not this tired.” I chuckled while wiping at my under eyes in a feeble attempt to wipe away the exhaustion.
She put her hand on my lower back and led me inside for the awaiting cup of tea while Sam moved my bags into his truck.
The warmth of their home embraced me, the comfort of their kitchen was familiar. The only thing missing was the rowdy group of boys that made up the pack who usually occupied every available seat in the home.
I took a seat at the kitchen table where three cups of tea sat waiting, I should have expected a q and a when I returned. Wrapping my hands around the mug the warmth that radiated from it filled my hands.
Emily took a seat beside me and Sam entered through the door and sat adjacent to both of us.
“So how was the trip?” We sat around their table chatting until our cups were empty and filed out of the house into the early morning air.
“Emily and I will drive your car back to your place after I drop you off at Embry’s, the kid’s been sleeping in my living room more often than I’d appreciate.” Sam’s eyes crinkled with a smile, I knew he was joking but at the same time there was truth to his words; and honestly I couldn’t blame him.
“Thank you for putting up with him while I was gone, I owe you guys one and you owe me take out for a month.” He rolled his eyes and ruffled my hair turning into the Call's driveway. Embry’s mom had already left for work leaving him to his own devices; which meant he would sleep in as late as his heart desired.
We got out of Sam’s truck and he dropped my bags on the doorstep. I turned and gave him a quick hug and a thank you before sticking my key into the lock.
The door creaked open and I dragged my suitcases to a stop in their front entry way and shut it behind me.
My shoes landed on the floor with a soft thud and I gingerly walked up the stairs to ensure I wasn’t too noisy while making sure to avoid the one squeaky stair.
I got to the top of the stairs and hung a left down their light beige hallway that gave way to the oak door that guarded Embry’s room. His soft snores filtered through the door, it’s door knob was cool in my hand. Making an audible click with the turn of my wrist.
Dark mahogany brown hair peaked up from beneath the sheet that tucked Embry’s body out of view. One pillow was on the floor while the other was tucked firmly between his cheek and arm, I smiled at the sight of my sleeping boyfriend which filled my every inch with the utmost joy.
My sock covered feet pressed into the carpeted flooring with each step I took towards his bed making sure to step over the piles of dirty clothes that were scattered around the room.
The sun filtered through the gaps in the window blinds casting pools of golden light on the floor and along his walls causing the crystal prism that hung above his closet to sweep dashes of colour across his walls.
I pulled back the grey top sheet to reveal his peaceful face and I swear my heart was going to burst with the amount of love that I feel for him. His hair was tousled in every direction and a cow lick stuck straight up on the left side of his head.
My hands ran over his hair, smoothing it out while I whispered his name. Embry groaned a bit and rolled over, I whispered his name a little bit louder and moved my hands from his hair to his shoulders running them along his arms finally waking him from his slumber.
“Hi Em!” I gushed out as his brown eyes opened and focused on me. His face split with his toothy smile and his arms shot around me, pulling me down into his chest.
“Do you know how much I missed you?” Embry mumbled into my hair.
“I figured a lot with the amount of texts I got from the pack.” I reached up brushing the hair from his face.
“You can never leave me for that long again. . .I didn’t know what to do without you here.” He ran his hands through my hair placing a gentle kiss upon the top of my head.
“I was so worried about you. I couldn’t protect you and make sure you were safe.”
“Well next time I’ll make sure you can come, then you don’t have to worry.” Craning my neck up I placed a kiss upon his lips which were still a bit swollen from slumber.
“The important thing is that I returned safe and in one piece. The other important thing is I get to spoil you with the gifts I brought back!”
His laugh filled the room sending vibrations through my body.
“Hey! That’s my job to spoil you, not the other way around.” He ruffled my hair causing us both to laugh. I peeled off my socks and wiggled my way under his blanket.
“I think it’s time we catch up on six months worth of cuddling.” I poked a finger into his side.
“Yeah I think that’s a good idea, you owe me for being gone so long.”
“What? I came back early!” His hands made their way under my shirt to rest on the bare skin of my back sending waves of heat through my body from being pressed into him. Oh how I missed my heater.
“Yeah, by like what? Two weeks?” his silky voice chuckled out.
“I missed you Embry.” I told him, placing a kiss on his exposed shoulder.
“I missed you too. Now let's go back to sleep, you look tired.” He said to me as he rested his chin atop my head and pulling me closer.

You and Jacob met a few days after you moved to Forks
You had just finished packing and decided to go on a night stroll through the woods, since it wasn’t that dark outside yet
The only problem was,, your orientation wasn’t exactly the best
You already got lost way before you knew you got lost
That led to you, wandering around in the woods, in the middle of december, at almost 1am
Jacob was out with Paul and Sam, because Paul said he sensed something or someone in their territory
So they went searching for that someone
You were more than frightened when three big ass wolfs popped out of the dark and circled you
Jacob only had to look you in the eyes once, before he whimpered and backed away
Sam and Paul were more than confused as to why Jacob suddenly acted that way, before they realized that Jacob had imprinted on you
Noticing, you did not seem to know where you are, Jacob nudged you with is snout, gesturing you to get onto his back
To say, that this confused the living shit outta you is an understatement
Deciding that you were most likely dreaming, you chose to just accept what was happening
They took you back to the pack house
By the time you got there, you were already freezing, nose red and lips blue, while shaking like hell
Emily was the one to help you off of Jacobs back, and bring you into the house
She made sure you were wrapped in the biggest blankets she found and immediately made you some hot chocolate
“Who is this? And where did you find him?”
You were slowly gaining focus back and watched the situation, quietly sipping on your hot chocolate
“We found him in the woods, Jacob imprinted on him.”
You squinted your eyes, “Who did what now?”
After explaining everything to you (which wasn’t easy, as you refused to believe any of it at first) and you calling your parent/s, you stayed the night
The morning after was a sunday, so no school yet
As soon as you were awake and got downstairs, Emily was waiting for you with breakfast already
A few hours later, Jacob offered to bring you home, which you accepted
“I hope you know, that I still gotta get used to this, even if I’m your imprint thingy”
Jacob giving you all the time in the world to understand everything
He takes his time while courting you, but after a few months of texting back and forth, hanging out, some occasional sleepovers, and some small dates, he knows that he’s in love with you
Asks you to bis his boyfriend after about,, six months
Was more than happy when you said yes
Your first kiss happened not long after that
You stayed over at his for the night
Just some cuddling and casual talking
After a few moments of silence and just enjoying each others presence, he told you he loves you for the first time
You sat up and looked him in the eyes, noticing the worried look they held
And then you just kissed him
Your first time with Jacob was on your one year anniversary
You went out on a casual date with him
Your parents weren’t home, so you and Jacob decided to stay at yours, just wanting a peaceful night to yourself
You put on your favourite series on Netflix, just the two of you, cuddling
In the middle of the thirs episode, you felt Jacob placing butterfly kisses all over your neck
Feeling as it was the right time, you asked him if he wanted to go further tonight
So, you did
Jacob was very careful with you, not wanting to hurt you
Lots of kisses, very delicate touches, and a lot of compliments and praises
The morning after is great, he’ll let you sleep in, is by your side as soon as you need the slightest bit of help, just pampers you overall

Paul Lahote Part 2
Don’t really know what to call this, but thanks for all the love on the last part. I’m gonna try and post weekly but I work a lot so no promises.
Warnings: Angst, lots of it. cussing, hints towards abuse.
After a few weeks went by things seemed to work themselves out between Jacob and Bella. I would drive out to Emily’s about once a week, Paul conveniently never being there. Which I was actually kinda glad about, although I felt eager to be around him, Jared told me about his anger issues so I think it’s better for me to steer clear of him until this eagerness goes away. Anger issues scare me.
Jared and I have gotten close through these visits, always laughing at each other's sarcastic jokes and ending the night with an episode of New Girl. That was usually the time when everyone else bailed but I didn’t care, it gave Jared and I some hilarious inside jokes. No matter how close we got, our feelings for each other never grew past platonic, though I would rarely catch Sam giving Jared a look. It was never all knowing “when are you going to ask her out?” look, more of a “back off” look. But that could just be me reading into it too much, there is nothing. I am thinking too much. I’m just happy I finally made a friend of my own.
One day when I arrived at Emily’s for dinner, there was a new face in the crowd. “Y/N! You’re here!” said Emily as I walked in. “Hey! This is for you. It’s a cake for later” I said, handing her the grocery bag in my hands. “Thank you, you didn’t have to do that. This is Seth, Harry’s son.” Emily pointed to the unfamiliar face. “Hi, I’m Y/N, Charlie Swan’s niece.” I introduced myself, but Seth just kind of stared at me, never saying a word. Jared’s laughing was what broke the silence. “What are you laughing at dick nose?” I asked, hoping not to embarrass Seth. “Nothing, just your ability to woo people”
“Very funny, I don’t woo anyone, you’re imagining things. How Emily puts up with you is beyond me.”
“IT’S NOT WITHOUT GREAT DIFFICULTY” Emily yelled from the kitchen before walking towards us. “Paul isn’t going to show up again?” she added.
“Nope” Embry said “ Too stubborn for his own good, the dumbass”
“Hey, if he doesn’t want to meet me that’s fine. It’s none of my business.” I say, hoping to ease Emily’s thoughts, seeming it always bothers her when he doesn’t show up.
We all seemed to move past it and dinner was great, as usual. “Hey, instead of New Girl do you want to take a walk? I’ll show you the hiking trails around here.” Jared asked me.
“Sounds great” I said with a smile.
“Can I join you guys?” Seth asks like a small child which made me have to suppress a giggle. Poor boy had been staring at me all night like a lost puppy, he was cute no doubt, but being 5 years younger than me was a deal breaker.
“No, Jared has something important to explain to her. Remember?” Sam said like he was Seth’s father. He seemed to always be incharge of everything around these guys so that didn’t surprise me. I definitely wouldn’t call them a cult, but club would be a better term, seeming as a hierarchy was apparent.
“Seth likes you” Jared said as soon as we walked out of the house. “Wow! Way to out your friend there! Remind me to never trust you with a secret. Plus you don’t know that for certain, he just met me.” I said and Jared laughed, but didn’t say anything back. No until we were pretty deep into the woods did I ask “So what is this thing Sam said you needed to show me?”
“Well I wanted to try and explain it to you but I have a feeling you wouldn’t believe me.”
“Your sarcasm levels are like no other to be fair, so show me.”
“Ok” he said and stopped walking. “Just brace yourself and try not to panic. I promise I won’t hurt you ok?”
“Ok” I say, trying to do what he said.
I watched. Watched him take off his shoes. Watched him back up a few feet. Watched him start to shake. Just like Paul did that day Bella slapped him. Then I watched him turn into a wolf. I was stuck. Didn’t say or do anything. I couldn’t. Just continued to watch as this wolf trotted back into the woods. My brain was blank. No thoughts, words or actions came to mind. Everyone knows the fight or flight trauma responses, but not a lot of people talk about the third: freeze.
Jared came back, this time a human. “You okay?”. I took a deep breath and said “I’m in need of explanation please” I remembered that he wasn’t going to hurt me.
He explained the histories, Vampires, and why he spends most of his time with the “pack”. I listened, tried to take it all in and process the copious amounts of new information, but apparently I was too quiet for Jared. “Please say something”
“I’m alright, surprised to say the least and will need some time to process everything. But I’m not mad I promise. Thank you for telling me everything.”
“Well, that actually is not all. We just figured it would be best to wait until you’re ok with this first.”
“There is more? Please just tell me the rest, trust me, I process better with all the information.”
“Okay, well. We can hear each other's thoughts, we are 108 degrees, and we can imprint.”
“That’s why you never wear shirts… What’s imprinting?”
“The best way I can describe it is soulmates. When we make eye contact with them, our whole world becomes this person and we will be and do anything for them. When we are apart it’s hell, getting rejected by an imprint can really fuck you up. Make you sick. No one has ever died from being seperated from an imprint but you might as well be.”
“That sounds intense. What does that have to do with me?”
“Paul imprinted on you. And it scared him. Still does scare him because love was never something that he wanted. That’s why he won’t see you, he isn’t mad at you. He’s in love with you and his stubbornness is eating him alive. It wouldn’t be so bad if I didn’t have to listen to his obsessive thoughts all the time.”
“Hold on. Paul is my soulmate but he doesn't want me?”
“No, he wants you. He needs you, but he’s scared. We thought if we told you, you could convince-”
“You want me to try and convince my soulmate that he should be with me?... Fuck that. You dump all this crap on me and then tell me my own fucking soulmate doesn’t want me?!”
As if on cue, Paul came out of the woods “What did you do to her Jared? You hurt her?!”
“How do you know I’m in pain?”
“We feel our imprints' pain too” Jared added.
“Oh! Perfect! So you can feel what you are doing to me asshole!” I couldn’t help but yell at Paul, I was overwhelmed to say the least. I’d never been so angry in my whole life.
“What?”
“Jared didn’t hurt me, You did! What? You thought that I would be all sweet and understanding?! Awe my own fucking soulmate doesn’t want me-”
“No it’s no like that-”
“What is it? Am I not as pretty as you thought I would be? Well I can guarantee that you were not what I had in mind either you prick! In fact you are the last person I ever wanted. Oh great! Another egotistical asshole with anger issues to make me feel like shit all the time! Let me just take off my shoes so you can sweep me off my feet properly! I’m happy you got some practice keeping your distance from me. Now keep doing it! And don’t you dare think, even for a second, that you have any sort of claim over me. I’m out of here!”
Frustrated tears flowed down my face like a waterfall while my heart felt like it had died in my stomach and air was coming into my lungs but not my head.
“Please don’t go. I had no idea you would feel this way. I can’t be separated from you anymore, I’ll go insane-”
“GOOD! Now fuck off!” I got into my car and slammed my door before Paul ran up to me window “Ok ok you can leave, just please let me drive you home. You shouldn’t be driving like this, and it’s dark. I promise I won’t say a word. Let Jared drive you! Anything.”
“Don’t tell me what to do!” My own stubbornness got the best of me and I drove away. Only this time I was dumb enough to look in the mirror to see Paul sobbing.

She’s Always There (Paul Lahote x Reader)
Key:
Y/n: Your Name
Y/l/n: Your Last Name
Y/n/n: Your Nickname
Y/e/c: Your Eye Color
Y/h/c: Your Hair Color
Prompt Given To Me By @ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhghhhh.tumblr.com: hey!! so the reason I'm messaging is because I wanted to request something but can't fit it all into an ask lmao. anyways could i please request a Paul Lahote x reader where the reader has been super close to the whole pack for years and has been Paul's imprint but doesn't know it (bc Sam thought it would be best to keep u away from it all) and they decide to finally tell you about being shapeshifters and being Paul's imprint and you're so mad about them not telling u earlier and there's a huge argument and they and Paul tries to calm you down but you say stuff like 'leave me alone' and things like that and it sounds like you're rejecting him/the bond in ur angry breakdown. anyways Paul is heartbroken and can't get out of bed or eat or anything so the guys finally convince you to come back bc they and Paul need you and it's just the reader cuddling with him and getting him out of bed to take a shower and eat and he realizes that you're not going anywhere and it's just like healing the imprint bond? sorry for this WALL of text, I've just had this idea stuck in my head for a while lol. if you don't want to do it, that's completely fine!! thank you for your time ♡
ok so my guy,, bc this fic has been stuck in my head for a bit, some scenes have developed? so idk i hope this isn't too much, but if u do write it, would u be willing to add like some angst to it, obvi, and maybe a scene/part lol where when the reader tries to get him to shower (bc the misinterpreted rejection made him like super depressed and he just felt low about himself) he won't shower, because he doesn't want to come out and the reader is gone. so either they shower together (not smutty just angst&fluff) or she sits like in the bathroom while he showers LOL. and when he feels a bit better, they go down to eat and he's touching some part of her at all times. if this is too much to like,, include then that's a-okay. i just need to get this OUT of my MIND ugh lmao!/!
Reader Gender: Female
Summary: The Reader has been friends with most of the pack members for her whole life. Which is why, after months of silence and strange changes, she was willing to let them back into her life— until she finds out she’s been told lies that leave her in danger, of course. After a big freak out and two weeks of avoiding them, the boys come begging for her help; it turns out that Paul has some wolf-y claim on her, and whatever she said to him has left him worse for wear...
Warnings: Mentions of Depression, Nudity, Angst, and Cursing.
A/n: this is literally like a whole novel I’m so sorry I got carried away. this is kinda based on a lot of fics I read where the imprint has the potential to really hurt people and I named Paul’s dad.

“The legends are real!?”
Y/n Y/l/n hasn’t ever been so disturbed in her entire life.
After weeks of radio silence, Sam Uley’s little ‘gang’, mostly consisting of people she’d known since childhood, had slowly trickled back into her life. What started as a grocery run with Paul or a movie with Jared had turned into big bonfire parties including Jacob Black and his gaggle.
But that was months ago. Months. And now, as she sits by a fire, surrounded on either side by them, they decide to tell her their little secret?
“Y/n.” Sam says as she abruptly stands, eyes stern and hand raised placatingly.
His actions only served to upset her more and her skin bristles with irritation. Sam was acting as if she, a human surrounded by shape shifters, was the unstable one. As if she could do any damage to things built to kill vampires.
“Don’t you dare, Sam.” She clenches her fists, glaring right back at him. “It’s been months- months- and you’re telling me now?”
“It’s not exactly an easy thing to bring up.” He reasons, voice a little less demanding. “We all wanted to be sure that you were ready to know.”
“Ready?!” Y/n laughs mirthlessly, y/e/c eyes wide with disbelief, “When was I supposed to be ready Sam? W-when one of you gored me? When a cold one ripped me apart?”
Her hands shake as she puts them on her forehead, blinking back tears. Growing up all she’d ever heard were stories of humans getting dragged into fights between wolf and vampire, and she couldn’t bring herself to look Emily in the eye because it was suddenly apparent that wolves alone could hurt people too.
It was so bad, whatever happened to Emily, that they said a bear mauled her— Y/n didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
“It’s not like that, Y/n/n.” Embry chimes in, reaching out to grab his friend's arm.
She yanks her body out of the way and gathers her belongings quickly.
“What is it like then, Call?” She holds her bag to her heaving chest, “because it seems to me that you all have the ability to turn into giant, slobbery freaks that are built for killing vampires and, after completely dropping me for weeks, you decided to keep it secret from me for months. Did it even occur to you that I would’ve been better off knowing right off the bat?!”
No one says anything. Eight shifters and two of their girlfriends sit there, just staring at her like she was speaking a different language.
“You know,” Y/n has to clear her throat to steady her wavering voice, “had you guys really been souped-up on drugs like everyone says, maybe I could’ve handled the lying. But my life was clearly potentially in danger, and you let me hang around without saying anything. I- God I don’t want to see you people right now.”
She leaves with that, stepping over logs and storming back down the beach with determination. Faintly over the roar of her heartbeat, she can hear someone scrambling to stand behind her.
“Wait!— shit, sorry-” Paul grunts, jogging to catch up with her- “Y/n-“
With an unusual gentleness, his warm hand wrapped around her forearm. For a moment, deep in the back of her mind, a foreign feeling tells her to stop, to listen; but that small voice is quickly smothered by the rational part of her brain, and she wrenches her arm from his grip.
“Don’t touch me!” She snaps, lowering her voice, “Leave me alone- I need to be alone.”
Paul stands there, dumbstruck, an unreadable look in his eyes as she walks away. And he’d continue to stand there, looking like a kicked puppy long after her retreating form became a blur amongst the darkness of the beach.
“Paul?” Sam is hesitant, hand hovering over the younger boy’s shoulder a minute before he touches him, “You okay?”
Shrugging his leader’s arm off his shoulder, Paul sighs. “No...I...I’m just gonna head home.”
Instead of going in the directions of the cars, the wolf stalks off toward the woods; Emily stands from her seat, wrapping her sweater more around herself as she watches Paul leave. Concern is written all over her features.
“He’ll be fine, Em,” He pulls her in for a hug, “it’ll all work out eventually.”
ஓ๑♡๑ஓ
Y/n does a good job of avoiding them for a while.
She turns her phone off a few days in and avoids going to First Beach, even when Washington gets a rare, warm summer feel. Books that have sat long forgotten on her shelves get read and TV shows she’s always meant to catch up on get watched; it’s boring and she runs out of options, at one point thinking of dying her hair y/f/c just to spice things up, but it allows her to think. (Or at least it allows this strange little voice in the back of her head to tell her that she needs to go back to them.)
The next time she sees any of the boys is exactly two weeks after the bonfire incident.
She’s curled up on her couch, picking at some of the Clearwaters’ fish fry and barely watching an episode of ANTM, when a fist comes banging down on her door. Turning off the TV, she tiptoes to the window, peeking under the curtain as carefully as she can.
As she expected, Jared Cameron and Embry Call are on her porch, the former standing in front of her door with his hip cocked, the other rooting around in her mother’s plants for something. Cringing, she hopes if she’s quiet enough that they’ll just go away.
Her front door opens within minutes, however, and she realizes her hoping is fruitless.
Should’ve known you can’t hide from wolves, she can’t help but think bitterly.
“Y/n?” Jared calls out through the house, “we know you’re here.”
“Yeah, and you guys should probably move your spare key,” Embry tacks on, flicking the light switch to the living room up, “I've known you forever and it’s still in the same place.”
From her spot by the window, the y/h/c haired girl glares at the two boys, arms crossed over her chest. Embry gives her a lopsided grin and holds the key out to her, his bud plopping down on the couch and pulling her abandoned plate into his lap.
Y/n extends a hand to take the key.
“Has it really been in the same place?” She sounds a little more defeated than she’d like.
“Yeah, it’s always been in your mother’s cornflower pot.”
“That’s...kinda sad.” She wrinkles her nose, pocketing the key with the intention to hide it better later, “but uh, I’ve been ignoring you for two weeks for a reason. Peacefully breaking into my house kinda furthers my need for space.”
Embry scratches the back of his neck.
“Well,” He says, “we need you to come back, man. Paul won’t talk to anyone- Sam doesn’t know if he’s eating, and he won’t even get out of bed for patrol! He needs his imprint-”
“His what?” She cocks her head to the side and Jared snorts from the couch.
“She left before we got there, nimrod,” Jared mocks through a mouthful of food, “she doesn’t know what an imprint is.”
He lets out an indignant “Hey!” as Y/n walks by, snatching her plate back from him on her way to the kitchen. Embry chases after her, a grumpy Jared jumping up from the couch to follow.
“You’re his imprint— you’re basically his soulmate!”
“Really?” She says warily, sealing the fish and putting it back in the fridge.
Both boys nod clumsily.
“You remember a few weeks ago when you saw each other for the first time again and he kinda just stood there like an idiot while you talked?”
“Yeah? Oh!-” She brings her hands up to her mouth, brows furrowed as she recalls.
It was exactly Jared had said. She and Paul had seen one another for the first time in a long time and the minute her y/e/c eyes looked into his, it was like he’d been struck dumb.
Embry gives her an encouraging look, “An imprint is...It's not like love at first sight, really. It's more like… gravity moves… suddenly. It's not the earth holding you here anymore, she does… You become whatever she needs you to be, whether that's a protector, or a lover, or a friend. When you snapped at him last week he thought you were rejecting him….”
A part of her thought about how absurd it was that he knew that whole speech. But the bigger part of her came to a realization that made her stomach churn.
“So he's all depressed… because… of me?” She whispers, leaning back on the counter.
Embry, always a rather sympathetic person, opens his mouth to comfort her, but Jared cuts him off.
“Basically. So are you going to come with us so we can help Paul or are you going to continue being petty?”
In any other circumstance, Y/n probably would’ve thrown something at her for calling her petty. She felt she was completely justified in her actions. A part of her wonders if she can really believe them— they’d spent months lying to her after all. But a larger part thinks about Paul, curled up in his bed, slowly desecrating because he thinks she rejected him.
If it were really all some ploy to get her to listen to them, then she’d at least be the person who chose the well-being of her friend over a petty disagreement.
“I’m coming.” She affirms, pushing herself off the counter, and letting the boys lead her to the car.
ஓ๑♡๑ஓ
Jared and Embry drop her off in front of the Lahote household. They tell her something but she can’t really hear them over her heartbeat, she doesn’t even know they’re gone until it’s too late to turn back.
Getting into the house wasn’t the hard part. Paul’s father, Cyrus, had been leaving as she arrived, and, after he watched her stare at the house with a fearful expression for a few minutes, he happily let her in. The hard part was willing her legs to take her up the stairs to Paul’s room, and then it was opening his bedroom door.
Y/n has known Paul since they were eight, but she was afraid of him until they were eleven. He wasn’t mean, per se, but his anger made him do mean things; she wasn’t entirely happy with puberty and it’s monthly gifts, but whatever it did to make her suddenly un-afraid of him she was grateful for. But now, standing in front of his bedroom door, she had a nagging fear that Paul would revert to that eight year old boy who threw lunch boxes and twisted arms behind backs until people cried.
The door creaks slightly as she struggles to push it open.
His room is almost completely dark except for the light coming from the hallway behind her. Trash and dirty clothes have formed a compact layer on his bedroom floor, foot sized holes leading up to the twin sized bed in the corner. On the bed, amongst the blankets she’s sure he doesn’t need, is Paul— or at least, a Paul sized lump.
As gross as it is, she’s kind of relieved he’s been eating.
“Paul?” She whispers tentatively, stepping toward the bed.
The lump flinches and turns toward her.
“Y/n?”
If the room and the description of his state weren’t heartbreaking enough, his voice definitely was. Hollow, rough, and small, everything it never was, everything Paul wasn’t.
“Is that you?”
“Yeah...it’s me..”
She carefully steps over to the bed, and Paul slowly sits up, pushing his blankets to the side. There’s a beat of silence as she stands between his legs, his reluctant hands coming to rest on her waist after a minute. Y/n let’s him have another to gather his thoughts.
“You really came…” Tears well up in his eyes and loops his arms around her back.
She runs a hand through his hair. “I did, and I’m so sorry, if I had known—”
Paul nuzzles her stomach, “S’fine, you didn’t know, and you’re here now.”
There’s a sort of cute, euphoria lacing his voice and he’s visibly much more relaxed.
“Just don’t ever say that again…”
“I won’t, I promise.”
She’s surprised when he manhandles her into his lap, but she doesn’t really mind. He’s warm and strangely familiar and something about it just— clicks.
“When was the last time you spent, I dunno, a minute or two out of your room?” Y/n asks softly, y/e/c eyes glancing about the room.
The shifter’s only response is a shrug, too busy nosing around her neck with vigor. When he finds a certain spot, it makes her squeak, and this seems to excite him like a puppy finding out its favorite toy makes noise.
“You need to bathe, eat something substantial,” She intertwines their fingers, “and the...pack...they’re really worried about you— are you even listening to me?”
He looks up at her then and flashes her a sheepish smile, answering her question. Pursing her lips, she pulls his arms from around her.
“C’mon, Paul.” She stands up and takes his hand. “We’re gonna get you cleaned up.”
She moves toward the door, urging him forward, only to be jerked to a stop as he stays put. He looks a little distressed when she turns back to him, brows furrowed, almost like he’s in pain.
“Paul?”
He grunts, jaw clenched as the cogs turn in his head. Y/n cocks her head and reaches out for his other hand. It felt like some sort of supernatural intuition, one she’ll blame on the imprint and ask Emily about later.
“Paul, hon, why won’t you come shower?”
“I’m afraid you'll leave,” He says bashfully, “it’s stupid, I know, but part of me is afraid you’ll leave while I’m in the shower.”
Y/n couldn’t help but feel a little heartbroken at his confession. Paul was part wolf, and part of being part wolf was imprinting— she almost wishes she’d have stayed long enough to listen, or been able to focus as the boys debriefed her on the ride over because only being able to speculate how much she’d actually hurt him was eating her alive. He wouldn’t even shower, something he desperately needed to do, because of what she’d said.
Taking a deep breath, she barely registers the words she’s about to say.
“I’ll wait with you, I’ll sit on the toilet, you’ll see me there.”
And true to her word, Y/n does sit on the toilet while Paul showers, reading the information on soap bottles to distract herself from the fact that he was there next to her, very naked. Occasionally he asks her what she’s doing, and she reads the ingredients out loud to the best of her ability, and he laughs a little— she tries to hide her smile, but she was too happy he was laughing.
She closes her eyes when he gets out, letting him dry himself off and pull on some clean shorts. He throws the wet towel at her when he’s done, eliciting a “Hey!” that makes him laugh again.
Now that he’s clean, the two of them descend into his quiet house. Y/n navigates the kitchen, her wolf attached to her hip and being less than helpful, and makes them both something to eat— he doesn’t do much more than stand behind her, wrapped around her, making her life more difficult.
“I’m so happy you came back.” He says, watching her work.
“I was always going to.” Y/n responds, her voice sure and steady.
They talk as they eat, sitting across from one another at the too big table in the Lahote household. Talk about how this was going to work, admitting feelings that always lingered, and everything in between; she hooks her leg around his, watching him scarf down his meal with a wrinkled nose and fondness glittering in her y/e/c eyes.
He’s...gross...but he’s hers, she’s kind of stuck with him.
A date is planned. An actual date.
Paul promises to take her to the local diner (and to wear a shirt, for once.)
“I’ve been saving up for something like this.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, and you can get that dessert you like.”
Y/n laughs softly, but heat spreads up her neck and settles in her ears and cheeks. It’d been a long time since that had been her favorite food, but it was the thought that counted...
When Cyrus Lahote returns from work later that night his son and the Y/l/n girl are awkwardly situated on his couch— him on his back, snoring, her lying on top of him, face tucked into his neck, also fast asleep. The older man turns off the TV and tosses a blanket over the pair, ascending up the stairs with a smile on his face.
Y/n Y/l/n was trustworthy. She’s always there when Paul is in a rut too big for him to handle...

yellow | paul lahote
paul lahote never wanted to imprint on anyone, but especially not on the one girl he couldn’t seem to protect, not even from herself.
word count: 3.8k
angst, hurt + minimal comfort
trigger warnings: eating disorder, death, hospital/medical scene, vomit
paul imprinted on y/n nearly a year ago, it wasn’t something he ever wanted. in fact, he tried so hard to fight the imprint at first that he made himself ill.
paul was only just beginning to learn that he couldn’t fight off every problem he encountered. imprinting on y/n had been a harsh awakening for him, and he knew now that he couldn’t punch and kick his way through life.
that didn’t stop him trying though, he stared at the hole he’d just created in the dry wall of his bedroom. he was going to have to buy another poster.
“paul, are you still there?” y/n’s voice was muffled through the phone which lay face down on his bed, “i heard a bang.”
and paul could hear her concern so he snatched the phone and held it up to his ear, “yeah i’m still here don’t worry,” he sighed, massaging the bridge of his nose.
“okay...” she said uncertainly, “are you alright?”
he was clenching his fists, his jaw, and every other muscle in his body, “yeah, yeah i’m fine,” he said, trying to maintain a light and airy tone as much as possible but the words just came out flat, “i should be asking if you’re okay.”
y/n took several minutes to answer, “you don’t need to worry about me paul.”
if only she knew that his entire life now revolved around worrying about her. about wanting to protect her, from the leeches, from every creep and asshole in this town, from every bout of stress or sadness.
“i never do anything else,” he tried to say jokingly, but his voice broke mid-way through the sentence and he punched his mattress.
“look paul...” he could hear her frowning through the phone as she sighed, “i gotta go to my appointment now but I’ll see you later for the bonfire, yeah?”
tears were burning in paul’s eyes as he croaked out a response, “yeah, do you need me to pick you up?”
“it’s all good, i’m going to emily’s first to give her a hand with the food so i’ll go down with her.”
“yeah, sounds great,” he said flatly, “i’ll see you there then.”
“bye paul,” she whispered and hung up the phone.
he launched the phone at the wall, and it shattered into chunks of useless plastic. he held his head in his hands and before he knew it, his whole body was racked with dry sobs.
paul lahote never wanted to imprint on anyone, but especially not on the one girl he couldn’t seem to protect, not even from herself.
he grabbed a pair of beat-up trainers from under his bed and pulled them on. he thundered downstairs and out the front door, ignoring the protests of his drunken father.
paul ran.
‘you can’t run away from your problems, paul,’ y/n would tease him.
maybe not, but he couldn’t do anything else because she wouldn’t fucking let him. y/n had always been stubborn but in the last few months she’d become increasingly closed off and defensive. if paul made the slightest attempt to ‘stick his nose where it didn’t belong’ then she’d shut him out for weeks on end.
being apart from her was agonising.
he used to think sam and jared were exaggerating when they talked about the pain of not seeing their imprints. but now he knew it was all too real and he couldn’t stand it, so paul had learned to bite his tongue so she wouldn’t give him the silent treatment.
that was something that did not come easy to him, but it was easier than not seeing her, not talking to her, not being close to her.
paul knew on some level it was selfish to let y/n play out her fantasises and pretend that everything was fine, he knew it was wrong for indulging her. but whenever he tried to confront her, to help her, then she would shut him out again and he couldn’t bare that.
it was raining heavily now, the hail stones battered off his exposed skin as he dove out of sight behind the tree line.
staying calm was not something paul was good at, he had to spend so much of his energy focusing on blocking out his anger and sadness and pain and anguish just to make sure he didn’t shift at an inappropriate moment.
but right now, he could smash through that blockade and let every emotion flood through his body as his flesh ripped and his bones snapped, and he shed his human form to leave a large, grey wolf in his place.
paul relished in the release, it felt good to finally let go of every negative emotion he was holding onto and embrace the wolf inside of him. he ran through the trees, taking in the smell of the wet earth and the salty sea air.
‘you can’t run away from your problems, paul’
y/n told him that once after a particularly explosive fight he’d had with his father. they sat on the beach, and she stroked his hair as he laid with his head on her lap. he told her he was going to leave home, she pointed out he had no money, he told her that he’d live in the streets if he had to.
‘you can’t run away from your problems, paul’ she had said, her fingers entangled in his hair.
but y/n didn’t seem to adopt that mentality when it came to her own problems, and paul’s desire to protect her made her problems, his problems. and now he had an overwhelming number of problems that everyone kept telling him he couldn’t run away from, but that wasn’t going to stop him from trying.
he kicked up soil and dead leaves behind him as he ran through the woods, the hailstones has subsided to a light drizzle which still managed to soak his fur. he paused to shake the water off him when he hear someone else’s voice in his head, someone else had shifted.
“hey paul.”
“hey jake.”
paul tried to shut off his inner monologue so that jacob couldn’t hear what he was thinking, he thought he was doing an alright job until-
“rough day, huh?”
paul growled.
“yeah i guess, y/n’s seeing her therapist right now....”
“is she getting better?”
paul could sense the concern in jacob’s thoughts but this wasn’t a conversation he wanted to have right now.
‘you can’t run away from your problems, paul’
well, what the fuck else was he supposed to do? everyone kept telling him that he couldn’t run away but no one was offering any alternative solutions.
it was always ‘calm down, paul.’
‘you can’t fight your way out of everything, paul.’
‘you can’t run away from your problems, paul’
well why the fuck not?
no one seemed to understand that he wasn’t running for his own sake but for everyone else’s. and most importantly, for y/n’s. it was excruciatingly difficult to keep those thoughts to himself and out of jacob’s mind, so he began running through the trees again to provide some kind of distraction.
“yeah, she’s going over to emily’s first to help out so i’m meeting her there.”
“do you think you might finally tell her tonight? it’s been nearly a year and she still has no idea....”
“she can’t handle it; she’s got enough going o,n i can’t burden her with all of this too.”
that was only part of it. paul was worried about how y/n would take the news that he, and all his friends were shapeshifting wolves that existed to protect the town from vampires. and even more concerning, how would she take the news that he had imprinted on her? y/n was too fragile right now, he had to protect her even if that meant keeping the truth from her.
but beyond that, he was worried that she wouldn’t accept him. paul had a crippling fear of rejection at the best of times, but the prospect of his own imprint rejecting him was unimaginable.
‘you can’t run away from your problems, paul.’
maybe not forever, but for right now he was going to sprint as fast as he could.
***
the blazing bonfire crackled just meters in front of them and yet y/n was still shivering; paul wrapped an arm around her shoulders and pulled her close into his chest. she nuzzled into him and paul was filled with a burst of euphoria at their closeness. her eyes were barely open as she leaned into him, he tightened his grip on her frozen frame.
“are you okay?” he mumbled into her hair, it smelled like lavender.
she nodded slowly, “yeah, i’m just tired, today was pretty rough.”
paul frowned. he wished that they weren’t surrounded by so many people, they were sat a little away from the rest of the group, but they didn’t have the privacy he would’ve liked.
“do you want to talk about it?”
y/n sniffled, when paul looked down at her he saw tears slowly running down her cheeks and his heart shattered.
he pulled her in closer and wiped away the tears, “hey, hey what’s wrong?”
y/n just shook her head, “i don’t want to talk about it.”
‘you can’t run away from your problems, y/n’ he wanted to say.
“are you sure?” he asked hesitantly, desperately wanting to help but also not wanting her to clam up again.
she looked away from him; the glare from the roaring bonfire reflected in her glassy eyes. paul enveloped one of her cold, bony hand in his and squeezed it gently but her frown persisted. there was a hollowness in his chest as he stared at her miserable expression; paul knew he couldn’t punch away anyone’s problems but as it turns out, holding hands is just as ineffective.
“dr charles wants me to go to inpatient treatment,” she said bluntly, “he says my physical health is deteriorating too much.”
something twisted in his gut.
“but i thought you were…getting better?” he said cautiously.
paul knew that was a lie.
y/n knew that was a lie, but she was so good at pretending otherwise she had everyone convinced that she was getting better. everyone but him, and he didn’t want her to know that she wasn’t fooling him with the ‘i’m eating again, i’m doing great’ routine she had become so well-versed in.
“well, i’m not better,” she snapped, pushing paul off her as she leapt to her feet.
superhuman hearing or otherwise, everyone else around the bonfire heard y/n’s exclamation, and their heads snapped over to stare between her and paul. emily began to stand up but paul waved her off and she sat back down next to sam. he approached y/n slowly, tears continued to stream down her face but when he moved to place a reassuring hand on her shoulder, she pushed him away.
he held up his hands, “okay, okay – i won’t touch you, why don’t we go somewhere quiet to talk-”
“no,” she snapped, “i don’t want to talk paul, all i ever do is fucking talk about my feelings and as long as i say the right things then everyone thinks i’m better, but i’m not fucking better, okay?”
“i know,” he roared back, “i know you’re not better, in fact you’re getting worse. i watch you get sicker every single day, i watch you withering away, i watch you dying and there is nothing that i can do because you won’t let me.”
y/n bit her lip and looked away from him.
tears were burning in paul’s eyes, “i can’t make you better, i can’t make you eat, i can’t look after you and it’s killing me.”
“i never asked you to look after me,” she screamed back, tears flowing freely down her face now, “i don’t know why you think it’s your job to keep me alive but it isn’t-”
“yes, it is!”
paul was shaking now, he was trying to hold onto his humanity with every fibre of his being, but the pain and anger was overwhelming. he was reaching his breaking point. he tried to focus on y/n; she was his anchor and usually the thought of her, focusing on the sound of her heartbeat was enough to calm him down. but usually, she wasn’t the focus is his anger, and now when he looked at her all he saw was how frail and weak she looked.
she was dying and she wouldn’t let him help her.
everyone was staring now; paul didn’t want to be on this beach anymore, he couldn’t deal with this right now. it was all too much; his head was spinning and his limbs were trembling.
‘you can’t run away from your problems, paul.’
sam leapt to his feet, ready to jump in and tackle paul to the ground as he lurched towards y/n. but instead of shifting and attacking her, he grabbed her hand and led her away from the bonfire and the rest of the pack.
“paul what are you doing?” y/n asked through chattering teeth.
she didn’t try to fight him off but paul knew this was more likely a sign of her lack of energy, and not her willingness to go with him. they were at the edge of the beach now, where the sand bordered with the rough concrete path that led back towards the heart of la push. paul stopped in his tracks and turned to face y/n as he heard her breathing become increasingly shallow.
he studied her intently, emaciated body, pale lips, hollow cheeks. he could hear her heart beating slowly and irregularly inside her chest, he could see her struggling to catch a breath. despite her weakened body she stared back at him, with a clenched jaw and arms crossed across her chest.
“you can’t run away from your problems, y/n,” he finally said.
she snorted, “i’m not you, paul.”
“no, but you’re my impr-” he stopped himself before he revealed too much and ran a hand through his hair, “you’re my best friend y/n i-”
“no, jared is your best friend,” she said pointedly.
“for god’s sake can you stop being difficult for two damn seconds?” he snapped.
she let out a shrill laugh, “right sorry, i forget i’m just an inconvenience to everyone around here, i should just go.”
paul grabbed her hand before she could turn away from him. he towered over her, but when their eyes met it was like nothing else mattered. in every second of his existence, paul was acutely aware that gravity and the laws of nature didn’t bind him to the earth; she did. and when she looked into his eyes like that it only reminded him that she was his everything, before paul knew it, his anger was melting away and there was nothing but pure euphoria flowing through his body.
paul lahote never wanted to imprint on anyone, especially not on the one girl he couldn’t seem to protect, not even from herself. but in that moment, nothing else mattered except for the fact that y/n was standing chest to chest with him, and she was staring into his eyes. nothing else mattered; not her anger towards him, her disease, his feelings of helplessness, his fear of rejection.
‘you can’t run away from your problems, paul.’
“do you believe in soulmates, y/n?” he asked breathily.
“what?” she asked; her breath billowed out of her chapped lips and hung visibly in the cool september air, thick, like cigarette smoke.
he took a deep breath; it was now or never.
‘you can’t run away from your problems, paul.’
“y/n, there’s something i have to tell you-”
she was the first to break eye contact with him, her pupils dilated suddenly, and her eyes fluttered shut. she managed to grip onto his bicep lightly as she collapsed, but her hand turned limp and rolled gently onto the sand as she lay unconscious in his arms.
***
“clear!” carlisle hollered.
paul reluctantly dropped y/n’s hand as carlisle pressed the paddles to her chest and sent two hundred volts of electricity searing through her lifeless body.
he frowned at the consistent flatline on the monitor, “push ten of epi and charge again,” he ordered the nurse, resuming chest compressions as he waited for the next round of medication to be administered.
paul grabbed her hand again while he had the chance, she was already turning cold. the blood had drained from her face, and paul couldn’t focus on her heartbeat to calm him because she no longer had one.
“clear!”
they repeated the routine they had been performing for the last several minutes; paul let go of her hand, carlisle shocked her, the flatline remained.
the nurse shook her head, “asystole,” she said flatly.
“what does that mean?” paul asked frantically, he looked between carlisle and y/n, “why aren’t you helping her?”
carlisle retrieved a neuro torch from the pocket of his lab coat, peeling back y/n’s eyelids he shone the light over each of her eyes, “pupil’s are fixed and dilated,” he said to the nurse.
“why are you stopping? fix her!” paul wailed.
“i’m sorry paul, there’s nothing else we can do for her,” he said softly, “time of death, 19.08.”
the nurse nodded and made a note on y/n’s chart before exiting the trauma room, leaving just paul, sam, and carlisle in the room with y/n’s lifeless body.
paul didn’t cry, or scream, or phase into a giant wolf. he stood by y/n’s bedside, clutching her hand in his and staring straight ahead at the monitor she was attached to. it continued to let out a continuous, monotone beep. sam, who was just waiting for paul to explode, placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder; paul didn’t have the energy to push him away.
“bring her back,” he croaked.
carlisle looked between paul and sam, “i am very sorry for your loss, paul, but there is nothing else i can do, she’s gone-”
“well bring her back!” he roared, falling to his knees as he continued to clutch y/n’s hand, “you fix her, you bring her back, you change her i don’t care-”
“you know i can’t do that-”
“yes, you can. you’ve done it before, change her i don’t care if she’s a vampire just bring her back,” he sobbed.
“paul, we can’t violate the treaty,” sam barked.
“i don’t give a fuck about the treaty,” he turned his head to snarl at sam, “bring her back right now doc or i swear to god i will-”
“i am very sorry paul, but even if i wanted to change her i couldn’t, it’s too late. there are some things even venom can’t fix, even if i tried the venom wouldn’t be able to circulate her body without a heartbeat.”
paul rose from his knees and dropped y/n’s hand. he was robotic as he began chest compressions, despite protests from carlisle. sam tried to pull paul’s arms away from y/n, but he shoved him off roughly and continued to rhythmically administer cpr.
“paul, you need to stop,” carlisle said, “she’s gone – that isn’t going to help her.”
he ignored him.
‘you can’t run away from your problems, paul’.
he wasn’t running anymore.
for once in his life paul was facing his problem head on.
he wasn’t running anymore.
he was doing what everyone always wanted, and yet sam and carlisle were trying to stop him.
‘you can’t run away from your problems, paul.’
sam and carlisle winced as there was an audible crack.
“you’re breaking her ribs, paul,” carlisle said, attempting to remove paul’s hands from y/n’s body but he flinched away from the vampire’s icy touch.
carlisle looked at sam pleadingly; sam nodded briefly at him before reaching forward and attempting to drag paul away from y/n’s body. he resisted, struggling against sam’s grip as he maintained the rhythmic compressions. his vision blurred in front of him, refusing to take on the scene before him.
he never got a chance to tell her about the imprint.
‘you can’t run away from your problems, paul.’
she never regained consciousness after she collapsed.
‘you can’t run away from your problems, paul.’
he never got to say goodbye.
‘you can’t run away from your problems, paul.’
he never got to tell her he loved her.
‘you can’t run away from your problems, paul.’
sam was dragging him backwards, away from y/n; his rigid grip kept paul’s arms pinned to his sides and stopped him from reaching out to cling to y/n.
paul couldn’t breathe.
everything was spinning.
the harsh, fluorescent hospital lights burned his watery eyes; he wanted nothing more than to sink down into darkness till he could awake from this nightmare.
y/n couldn’t be dead.
‘you can’t run away from your problems, paul.’
“someone will need to contact her family, they will need to make arrangements,” carlisle commented quietly, “ i will call them myself if you give me the number.”
“this is my fault,” paul choked out.
“what?”
“it’s my fault,” his voice caught in his throat, “i let her slowly kill herself because i didn’t want her shut me out.”
“y/n was sick for a long time paul-” carlisle began.
“and i could’ve fixed her, but i was too selfish to let her go and now she’s gone forever.”
his knuckles turned white as he gripped the metal pole that ran along the side of y/n’s bed, he couldn’t bring himself to look at her body.
sam placed a hand on his shoulder, “there’s nothing you could’ve done paul, you already did everything you could for her - you can’t love someone back together.”
“what if it was emily?” paul snarled, “would you be so calm and condescending if it was your imprint lying dead in front of you?”
paul’s heart pounded in his chest, he was still unable to look at her. he wanted to remember her alive and breathing, not like this.
‘you can’t run away from your problems, paul.’
“if you’ll excuse me, i should get started on some paperwork,” carlisle said quietly.
‘you can’t run away from your problems, paul.’
paul lahote never wanted to imprint on anyone, but especially not on the one girl he couldn’t seem to protect, not even from herself.
“c’mon paul, you should get out of here.”
‘you can’t run away from your problems, paul.’
his eyes flickered up, and the sight of y/n’s corpse sent acidic vomit bubbling up his throat and into his mouth. he turned sharply on his heel and choked out his stomach contents into a bin in the corner.
after he composed himself paul did what he did best.
he ran.

in the “everyone is in love with Bella” scenario, what about the wolves? Wouldn’t it be really fucked up for Sam to fall in love with her? Would it make the wolves try to redefine imprinting? how would Leah react to the whole situation?
Anon is referring to this post. For the record, I didn't get into them in the post because the plot would veer so far off-course in Twilight that Edward never leaves and Victoria never becomes a threat to Bella, meaning Bella and Jake don't get close and she doesn't need their protection.
But, let's do this.
First encounter
Bella arrives in Forks, and Billy and Jacob are there to hand over the pickup.
Boom.
They fall in love.
Jacob, having never had a real crush before nevermind something so powerful as falling in love, is overwhelmed by these new feelings. He blushes and flushes and stutters, and fails to say anything reasonable or even intelligble to Bella. Too mortified to function, he decides to hide in La Push until the embarrassment fades. Which very well could be never.
Billy, meanwhile, is unable to cope. He just fell in love with Charlie's daughter. Charlie's 17-year-old daughter who used to make mud cakes with Billy's daughters.
This is bad.
This, to a good man like Billy, is unforgivably bad.
He goes from being Charlie's best friend to suddenly being very distant, not wanting to ever cross paths with Bella again.
But, you asked about the wolves, not just Jake and Billy, so let's take this scenario further.
Bella's friends, all of whom are hopelessly in love with her, drag her to La Push
Jessica, Lauren, Mike, Angela, Tyler, Eric, Ben, the whole gang, they're all going to La Push for the weekend.
And it just won't be the same without Bella. She's just so great, you know?
Everyone looks at each other and nods. Yeah, it's just not fun without Bella. Bella's great, someone should invite her.
They all invite her, one by one, all of them with wide, adoring eyes. "It would be so amazing if you came, Bella," Jessica says dreamily, twirling a lock of Bella's hair around her fingers. "Your hair is really pretty," she giggles.
Angela and Ben are each blushing too hard to really say anything to Bella, so they end up running away from her. Bella is left feeling like some kind of freak. She later receives two notes in class, one from each, begging her in cramped writing to come to La Push. Yeah, not helping her feel like less of a freak.
Mike, Eric, Tyler, and Lauren all corner her, each worse than the last.
By the end of the schoolday Bella doesn't know what's going to happen at La Push but she does know that she doesn't want to go.
She complains about this to the Cullens (remember, her and Edward became an item much earlier in this timeline), and they all fawn and coo over her and act like she just went through a warzone. If she wants to go to the beach, she could try Isle Esme Bella. Would she like that, an island vacation? Or an island?
Bella is pulled out of school for a romantic two-week totally-not-a-honeymoon.
La Push never happens.
But surely Bella and the wolves must meet at some point
Billy catches wind that Bella Swan is dating Edward Cullen. As in, the girl he has fallen so deeply in love with is now being preyed upon by a blood-sucking demon.
Billy's own sense of propriety or honor be damned, he has to save this girl's life.
He tries to speak to her, just as in canon, but just as in canon this goes poorly. Bella is a savvy 17-year-old who doesn't need no warning, and besides, the Cullens are all so sweet. They're like hobbits, really, obviously she's not in any danger. She tells Billy as much. Vampires are lovely, does he know they gave her an island?
(Billy did not know this, and yes, that's weird. Doesn't mean they're not evil, though.)
Billy gets nowhere with his would-be intervention.
Time to bring in the big guns.
Sam phases around this time, and imprints on Emily. Break-ups with Leah, maulings, and tragic lovestories all around are had.
It is around this time that Billy brings Sam up to speed on the Bella situation, although leaving out the part where he's hopelessly in love with the girl because that would not be received well. Could Sam go speak with her about this, see if maybe she will take his warning seriously? The situation is dire.
Sure, Sam can do that. No one wants a human girl to get eaten or turned, after all.
Sam goes to see Bella.
And promptly falls in love just as he did Emily.
Emily, who is currently in the hospital from Sam mauling her, which happened specifically because Sam had imprinted.
It's official, Sam thinks, he's the greatest scumbag there ever was.
The Emily and Leah situation was awful enough as it was, breaking all three of their hearts and causing irreparable damage both physically and mentally. Sam wronged them both colossaly, and he can never amend that.
But he imprinted. He wasn't just being a douchebag, actual magic made him do it.
Now, though...
Either Sam imprinted on multiple people, in which case his happy ending is now polygamy. And how would that be a happy ending for Emily and Bella?
Or, possibly even more terrifying yet, he didn't imprint on either woman.
Breaking up with Leah, mauling Emily, making Emily fall in love with him after that and ruining her relationship with her cousin, in short putting these women through hell, all of it- it was for nothing. Sam's just a horndog who sees supernatural intervention where there's really just hormones.
Why couldn't he just have imprinted on Leah?
Sam can't go on a sabbatical to figure this out, his tribe needs him. So he takes to living in the woods alone, where he is alone, to try and figure this out.
But it gets more painful yet, because he can't just disappear on Emily.
So, he tells her. He owes her that much. And it's not goodbye forever, either, just- goodbye until he can figure out how to be the man she deserves. A man anybody deserves, really, because right now Sam's not it.
Emily has no idea what to make of any of this, but she knows her heart is broken.
She has to see this woman all of this is about.
Naturally, she falls in love as well.
The plot thickens
The next time Sam drops by, Emily gives him the news. They're both in love with Bella now.
Sam no longer knows what to make of anything.
Is the universe trying to tell them to form a polycule?
Nothing like that has ever happened before, but not much is known about imprinting. There's a first time for everything..?
At this point they're both giving themselves headaches trying to figure this out. It's a mess.
More, Bella hasn't even met either of them. Sam and Emily can't just walk up to her and say "Hi, be our wife".
Or can they?
If Emily fell in love at first sight, maybe it'll work in reverse. Maybe Bella just has to look upon them, and she'll fall in love.
Sam is dubious, but at this point let's just do this. Let's just do this, see what happens.
They walk up to Charlie's to deliver some of Harry's fish fry. Bella opens the door.
"HIIIII" Emily says, trying to act normal.
Sam's not saying anything.
"Hi," Bella says back, nonplussed, and looks at the bag Emily is clutching with white-knuckled fists.
All three of them are silent.
Bella is starting to wonder if there's something with the town water supply. She is also wondering if these people are planning to say anything, or if they just really enjoy knocking on doors and saying hi to people. Is there something Bella should be doing?
Eventually she clears er throat and asks if there's anything she can do for them.
Sam and Emily glance at each other. Bella's not looking starstruck with love, but she's not acting normal either. Who stands in a doorway and stares at people for almost a minute before talking?
It's inconclusive.
Emily hands over the fish fry. "From Harry," she says, and introduces herself.
Bella nods, remembering Charlie's friend who all but ran out of the door when he saw her and hasn't been fishing with Charlie since. None of Charlie's friends have. Charlie is going nuts. Maybe she should try hooking him up with Carlisle, vampires are lovely, they'd get along so well.
Bella, noting Emily and Sam aren't saying anything else, says bye and moves to close the door.
"Wait!" Sam yells, at the same time as Emily rips a piece of paper from her pocket, and sticks it into Bella's hand.
Bella looks down on it. It's two phone numbers.
She looks back up at Sam and Emily, who by now feel quite certain that this girl hasn't fallen in love with them and that this is the most humiliating moment of both their lives.
Just in case, though...
"Call us," Emily says flirtatiously, winks, and runs away.
Sam follows.
Bella never calls them back, and they never speak of this again.
A few months later, Leah who’d been shopping in Forks happily tells Sam and Emily that she's fallen in love with a girl, she lives in Forks, she's amazing, her name is Bella Swan.
"I took one look at her, and I knew," Leah says dreamily.

“We could watch some movies” Y/N called out as she hung upside down in Emily’s living room while the rest of the pack were either on the floor or in chairs.
It was a Sunday and everything was clear in the woods, not a leech other than the normal one’s so Sam gave the pack a off day from patrol.
With only one problem... they were bored.
Jacob was with Nessi while Sam and Emily went to visit some of Emily’s family across town.
“Nah” she heard most of them mumble from their places around the room.
“I’m tired of movies” Jared said as he laid his head on Embry’s shoulder making him push it off while everyone agreed with him.
Y/N flipped the right way up now running out of ideas and looked at her boyfriend who was at the other end of the couch dosing off.
“Paul...” she whined and put her head back.
He took a deep breath and opened his eyes to look at her beady y/e/c one’s, he smiled a little seeing the fake stress she was under before leaning on his hand.
He only smiled because this is the longest he ever saw his small rambunctious imprint sit still, ever.
No matter if it was her climbing the stair rail...she was ANYWAYS moving.
Its like she had around the clock jitters.
Of course Paul quickly adapted to his lovers personality because if he was being honest, it only made the love he had for her stronger.
Though he couldn’t argue with the fact that she tired the 6′8 foot wolf out on most times.
She wasn’t like Emily or Kim, she was the smallest other then Claire and she always wanted to fight with the boys.
Y/N was known for getting a good laugh out of annoying the pack and they couldn’t do anything about it for two simple reasons.
One, because of the rule “no wolf may harm the imprintee of a fellow pack member” stand’s tall and Two, Paul would kill them dead if they so much as leave a scratch on Y/N.
Seeing she wasn’t getting anywhere with her imprinter she groaned loudly which caught Quil by surprise making him fall out the chair he was in.
Everyone looked up with wide eyes as Quil slowly got up rubbing his hind quarters and glaring at the small girl.
“Jeez Y/N, I think you broke Quil” Jared said chuckling making Quil throw the closest pillow he could grab at him.
Y/N rolled her eyes and stood up making her way to the back yard.
“Where smalls going?” she heard one of them ask on her way out.
Y/N plopped down in grass and stared at the sky trying to think of anything to do a this point.
She sat up and looked behind her to see if any of the boys were on their way out but saw the coast was clear.
She took a deep breath before remembering the words to one of the first spells her late mother taught her when she was a child.
“crescere” She said making a rose start to grow out of the spot of ground she was next to.
Y/N mother was a coven leader to witches in the south, she was kind, fair, loving, everything a leader was but she was a mother first.
When Y/N mother was pregnant with her she fought hard to keep peace with the wolves and vampires in the area they lived in.
Peace was a common factor between the three supernatural species.
When Y/N was six years old that all soon changed when the vampires wanted all of the land and the witches and wolves refused to give up what was theirs.
Not much longer the red eyed monster’s forced a attacked on the wolves when they least expected it.
Killing them all in a blink of an eye.
Y/N’s mother knew her coven was next on the leeches list but refused to bow, Y/N would say that her mother’s pride costed her a lot but if it didn’t she wouldn’t have everything with Paul.
As the vampires moved in on the witches, killing every witch they could get their hands on but not before Y/N’s mother put a cloaking on her so she could make her escape.
Six year old Y/N ran fast and hard from her home land as she heard her mother’s screams for mercy.
She soon found her self in Minnesota where she was raised in a foster home, it was there when she stopped using her magic.
 When Y/N was 17 she ran away from her abusive foster home and made a 23 year old friend by the name, Avery Carson who was on vacation to the small city.
Avery soon had to go back to La Push with her family and didn’t want leave Y/N behind, the 17 year old cried and begged the girl to take her with her and even explained why she couldn’t stay.
Y/N knew that if she didn’t leave then and there she would be found and forced back into her foster home only to be beaten and spat at again.
She didn’t want to go back to that horrible place, ever.
Avery gave in and flew back to La Push with the soon to be legal girl on her side, she even took it as far to put her in school on the rez.
It was then she met and was imprinted on by the well known hot headed wolf, Paul Lahote.
People told the girl Paul was no good for her pure soul and let to her ‘simple crush’ go, not knowing that she found her soulmate.
Y/N thought Paul was over looking her but in all honesty the large boy was just scared to approach the small figured girl.
She would sit in the room that Avery gave her so she would have a place to stay just thinking about the tan boy.
How at lunch he would stare then after she would look back or try to hold eye contact he would quickly look back to his friends and act like he wasn’t paying attention.
After awhile the pack took notice to the odd silence their friend was giving then soon grew tired of Paul always thinking about the new girl on patrols but not acting on it.
So his bestfriend Jared and pack brother Quil gave him the push he needed to at least hold a conversation with Y/N, literally.
As Y/N was walking past the group of boys Jared and Quil pushed Paul into her, just as she was about to fall back on her butt Paul grabbed a hold of her belt loops pulling his warm body to hers.
It was then they became friends and later became something more.
Eight months into knowing Paul and his group of friends that everyone thought was a ‘gang’, he told her what he really was and what made him go into shock the young girl simply replied with....
‘I kinda figured’
Now a year later she was like the littlest wolf and a little sister to the pack but she never told anyone of her powers.
Not even Emily, Kim Or Avery.
She repeated her act of making the roses grow out the ground before she heard Embry’s voice speak.
“OH MY GOD!” he shouted as he ran back in the house yelling for Paul.
Y/n shot up off her spot in the grass and tried to catch the boy but it was no uses, his wolf speed was much greater then her little legs.
He was already in front of a slightly panicked Paul trying to explain what he saw his pack sister do with her bear hands.
“S-she just said it a-and i-it came up and- SHE’S A DAMN WITCH!” he said stumbling over his words.
“Okay Embry do it with me, deep breath in” Quil said taking a deep breath which Embry followed and then they both let it out.
“now what the hell happened-”
“she-”
“SLOWLY!” everyone shouted at him.
Y/N just laid her forehead on the door frame as she listened to one of her bestfriends freak out bout what she did.
“-and I ran in here” Embry said finishing and turn his head to Y/n who smiled nervously and waved at the boys.
Paul looked at Y/N as she started to turn red in the face, she knew not to lie about anything because she couldn’t keep up with lies and soon get caught in them.
Plus she knew Paul would know when she’s lying because he knew HER like the back of his hand.
“come” Paul said to his imprint.
Paul wasn’t mad or anything he is however disappointed his little ball of energy didn’t tell him about her powers sooner.
Y/N slowly made her way over to Paul so tear brimmed her eye’s, she was scared.
Scared of what her only reason of living would say, she couldn’t live without him or bare the thought of him hating her because she wasn’t fully human.
“Look at me mama” Paul said as he saw a tear slip from her eye.
She tilted her head back to look at the tall boy in front of her and she saw no change in the way he looked at her.
Y/N thought he would look at her in pure disgust or anything of that nature but he didn’t, he still looked at the small girl with love in his eye’s.
“This true?”
“yes... b-but I didn’t want you guys to h-hate me l-like the leeches so I hid it and now-”
“woah woah woah” Quil said waving his hands to slow his little friend and reminding her to breathe.
“that’s what your scared of? that we’ll hate you because your not human?” Jared asked.
She nodded trying to stop the tears from coming but they wouldn’t stop.
“we don’t hate you smalls ,we never would” Embry said said with a little small to calm the girl.
“We love you” Paul said making her put her head down.
He grabbed her chin gently making her look back up at him and planted a small kiss on her lips.
“I love you Y/n” he said.
The young girl looked from her lover to her friends and took a deep breath as she wiped her face.
“okay just so we’re clear you do magic.... So your like Harry Potter?” Jared said making the group laugh.
“umm, I- well, not quite buddy” she smiled and wiped her wet face.
“Group hug!” Embry and Quil yelled as everybody closed in on her and Paul.
They all hugged for a minute before pulling away.
Bonus
“can we see a little something?” Embry asked plopping down on the couch as Paul wrapped his arms around Y/N.
Y/N smirked and with a wave of her hand a pillow hit Jared dead in the face making him look at her and a hurt look.
“Hey!-”
She chucked another pillow at his face before he could say anything else and leaned on Paul as she laughed.
“that’s my girl” Paul said, smiling in her ear making chills go up her spine.
Jared got up and pretended to storm towards Y/N making her squeal and hide behind her lover.
“That’s not fair, you can’t hide behind Paul!” Jared said laughing.
“who says” Paul said.
“we do!”
“who is we, I don’t speak French” Embry said.
“Paul would let Y/N get away with murder because she’s small” Quil said shaking his head as everyone laughed.
Paul just smiled and sat down, pulling Y/n into his lap and kissing her lips sweetly.
“I Love you little witch” He smiled.
“I Love you Wolfie” she giggled.
“OH MY GOD!”
“ugh, gross”
“yeah just do the do with clothes on will ya”

Embry’s POV
Hunting was a first-time and unique experience for me. As shifters, we didn’t need to hunt like regular wolves did; we ate normal, human food. We mostly ate the food Emily would prepare for the whole pack, and, thank God, her food was just as amazing as she was herself.
Honestly, we had to give her more credit than she accepted. She had to cook huge food portions to satisfy our insatiable wolf appetite, and she spent too much in her kitchen cooking for us every single day. She was like our wolf mom - if we could consider Sam as our wolf dad, making sure we were fed, healthy, and unharmed every day.
(Y/N) was running beside me, led by her vampire instinct to hunt. She was truly beautiful - she exuded so much power and confidence in whatever she did. I couldn’t help myself from turning to look at her every minute or so, watching the wind passing through her (y/h/l) hair, her eyes glistening in a deep gold color, her lips slightly parted. Every now and then, we would pass by a ray of sunshine, and her skin would glow like the most beautiful diamond I have ever come upon.
I didn’t know if it was the imprinting, but watching her doing her “vampire stuff” did not repel me at all; on the contrary, I felt closer and more drawn to her. She felt comfortable enough to open up to me, though I knew I had many more things to learn about her, and I was willing to wait for her to tell me anything she wanted.
I didn’t realize that transforming into a vampire could be as stressful as it was phasing into a wolf. I never had to think about it, because they are supposed to be our enemies, not people to sympathize with. In the end, I realized that we weren’t so different - just like us, most of the vampires we’ve come across, did not choose this lifestyle. In their case, though, it was someone else who decided for them; someone else who took away their choice in living a normal life.
I knew that, under normal circumstances, I would have never met or come across (Y/N) - and if I did, I would probably keep my distance from her. But I also knew that I was grateful that the pack made this “unofficial” agreement with the Cullens, and I could meet her, and be together maybe? Things were going fast here, and I didn’t exactly know if we were dating or just casual friends because of the imprinting. I didn’t want to believe she felt no connection to me, but I also would not receive the vulnerability she showed before as a sign she was into me. I would wait for her to decide, to tell me what she wanted for us. Whatever she chose, I’d accept it, as long as she was happy and alive.
She slowed down a little, looking directly at me. “At this point, we have to take in our surroundings, to take in every sound and smell around us. It is important to distinguish between an animal and a person, and control ourselves, to avoid anything bad happening.” She started explaining the process of hunting, and I could only nod at her for now, to assure her I understood what she was telling me.
She stood still for a few minutes, closing her eyes and breathing in every smell around us. “It’s a bit easier for me to “read” the environment around me. I create an illusion up to a certain distance, and if anything or anyone falls in the illusion, I can basically “see” them and understand their nature, what they’re thinking, what they’re feeling. That’s why it became a bit easier for me to abstain from human blood in the years after I decided to follow the vegetarian diet. I already kept my distance from humans, so I could avoid them easier.”
She suddenly opened her eyes and ran forward. I ran after her, trying to be close to her but also keep my distance. She stopped on top of a boulder, eyeing a mountain lion a few feet below us. She turned to me and nodded towards the lion, motioning me to stay quiet, before stroking my cheek lightly. I shivered under her touch and when she let go, I craved more.
In a swift move, she launched towards the lion, growling. The lion growled back at her, and I couldn’t help but growl at it as well. (Y/N) let out an animalistic growl as she fought to immobilize the lion, before sinking her teeth into its neck. Normally, the sighting would make my stomach turn, but, again, nothing was normal in our lives.
I watched closely as she sank her teeth in the lion’s neck once more, gulping the blood in the process. When she finally lifted her head, there was only a small strip of blood falling out of the left side of her mouth - her whole appearance still perfect, despite the fight. She looked at me, sweeping the blood with her pointer finger and licking it slowly. I don’t know why I was turned on by the sighting, but I was. Quite turned on.
She smiled cheekily at me, starting to giggle. And then, as if she was air, she suddenly disappeared in front of my eyes. She didn’t run away; she literally disappeared. I slightly freaked out, but then, I felt a small kiss under my ear, and I knew it was (Y/N). The sneaky little bastard “blinded” my vision, and was playing games with my head.
“Sorry. I was just messing with you.” She grinned, and snuggled in my side, wrapping her hands around my face. The smell of blood was still prominent in her breath, but I couldn’t care less. It felt as if she was reciprocating my feelings for her, and I couldn’t be happier.
“Are you okay? Shall we continue? I’m still pretty hungry.” She questioned me, her words barely coming out of her mouth, whispering so as not to ruin our happy little moment. I nodded, and she rubbed her face into my fur, before letting me go and running forward.
A couple of hours and many deer later, we were on our way back to (Y/N)’s place. She invited me over to spend some time together. She lived about 1 mile away from the Cullens; she told me that she appreciated them as much as she appreciated her own privacy and space, and they understood her need to spend time on her own.
She waited a few minutes for me to change back to my human form, giving me the space and privacy I needed. Though I had no issue changing in front of her, I thought it would still be too early for that. After shifting back to human and getting dressed, I came out of the woods.
She waited for me in front of her house. Her house was pretty big, a mix of dark wood and glass, making it extravagant but also warm and welcoming. Her very expensive car that I noticed in the clearing we "trained" a few days ago was parked in her driveway, along with a white silver Cadillac Escalade Hybrid.
She saw my wide eyes and overall shocked expression and laughed. “That is..my “more casual” car, you know, to drive around.” I gulped and nodded, as she motioned me to come into her house.
Matching its exterior, the interior also exuded a mix of luxury and warmth. There was a big bronze chandelier in the foyer, but it was nothing compared to the ones further into the house. At first glance, there was a huge living room, decorated with brown fabrics and furniture of different hues, enhancing the warmth. The kitchen was pretty big, especially considering there lived a vampire who didn’t need to cook. The counters, the cabinets, and the drawers were made out of white marble, in complete contrast to the living room. A wide wooden staircase led to the upper floor. My jaw was probably on the floor by now.
“I really like buying expensive things and such.” (Y/N) grinned at me, watching me turn around the place and take everything in.
“You must be pretty hungry, huh?” She looked at me, serious now, and my stomach growled in response. She smiled widely. “I have quite a few pizzas in the freezer if you don’t mind. I usually wouldn’t buy anything, but I thought that someone, or even you, would come over, so I went out yesterday and bought a few things. Would you be okay with that?” She looked unsure, waiting for my response.
I didn’t realize I hadn't said anything for a few minutes, until (Y/N) came in front of me. “Embry?” My name came so pure out of her mouth. “Are you okay? Are you feeling okay?” Her voice sounded concerned, as she examined my face for any signs that would “betray” a lack of wellbeing or something.
“Yeah, yeah, don’t worry about it. I just didn’t expect that you would go out of your way to make sure I ate if I ever came here.” I was indeed shocked, I didn’t lie.
“No, of course I would. I didn’t expect you to come over, but I just hoped you would.” She smiled, lowering her eyes to the floor.
I came closer to her and stroked her cheek lightly. She gasped slightly, but I felt her melt on my hand. My heart was beating so fast, pounding so loudly, full of love and nerves. I didn’t think about it twice before I leaned in and pecked her lips lightly.
I heard her gasping at my action, and I pulled away, worried that I scared her away. That wasn’t the case though, as she grabbed my neck carefully, afraid of her own strength, pulling me back to her and kissing me with more passion this time. The fireworks and stars I saw and the fire that was burning deep inside me were definitely not a part of any illusion. It was a reality - the reality we were currently living and experiencing together.
I captured her face between my hands and she swirled her hands around my shoulders and neck, keeping me close. She cooled down my nerves, and I set her body aflame. Even after we pulled away, we stayed close, foreheads touching, eyes closed, just feeling each other and relaxing under each other’s touch. (Y/N) was the first to speak.
“How about you go take a hot shower, and I’ll prepare the pizzas?”
She stroked my hair while looking me deep in the eyes and I just wished this moment would last forever. I was absolutely delighted and felt blessed to have met my imprint and mate for life. I couldn’t even remember what life was like before her, and I couldn’t even bear the thought that I would have never met if she wasn’t bitten and transformed into a vampire, over 100 years before me. I didn’t mean I was grateful for the vampire who bit her, or vampires in general, but I was grateful I had her.
“Okay.” The words barely came out of my mouth, before I kissed her once again.
“Let me help you.” She took my hand and guided me upstairs. She showed me the bathroom and brought me freshly-washed, fluffy towels, clear underwear, long jeans, a woolen t-shirt, socks, and slippers. I looked at her curiously.
“I bought a few things if you ever wanted to crash here.” She confessed, a kind of guilt on her face. I smiled widely and kissed her once again.
“Thank you, love.” She relaxed and smiled.
“Okay, now, go shower. Relax, have fun with the jet streams.” She winked before running downstairs. I chuckled at myself, and hopped in the shower, turning the jet streams on, and relaxing further into my thoughts.
----------------------------------------------------------
About half an hour later, I jumped off the shower, clean and relaxed. I quickly dried off and got dressed. I looked at myself in the mirror and smiled. I would have never thought of being this happy in my life.
I didn’t have the best childhood. I never met my father; I never knew who my father even was, but I definitely knew he was a Quileute by now. My mom, however, was a Makah, an outsider of the Quileute tribe, so she didn’t know about the shape-shifters.
There were a lot of one-sided fights with her when I came home after a long night patrolling. She thought I was going through a rebellious stage, and I just let her believe that. Even Sam offered to tell her the truth about the Quileutes, but I refused. I couldn’t have her getting in trouble or hurt; it would be better if she didn’t know. I sighed deeply and slowly walked downstairs to meet with (Y/N).

(Y/N)’s POV
I didn’t mean to watch Embry’s head, but I couldn’t help it. All these images suddenly started flooding my mind; his mother yelling at him for being out of the house at odd hours, but him never yelling back at her, never revealing the real reason for his absence. He was thinking about all the times he asked his mother about his father, but she refused to say anything more and dismissed Embry’s inquiries.
Embry’s head was heavy with these dark thoughts, tangled and disorganized, reminding me of my own. His thoughts were all over the place; small images and scenes here and there like little flashes of memories.
I heard him coming down the stairs and tried to forget about everything for his own sake. In a minute, he entered the kitchen. He looked so beautiful, even a plain pair of jeans and a plain t-shirt. He was mesmerizing, his face calm, a small grin lighting up my world, and, if I hadn’t seen his thoughts, I would think that his head produced only happy thoughts.
Anyone who saw Embry, saw a quiet, reserved, but seemingly happy young man, not what I had just seen for myself. I decided not to talk about it; if he ever felt comfortable talking about it, he would, and I would wait for him, no pressure.
“Like what you see?” Embry grinned seductively. Cheeky bastard.
“I do, actually.” I leaned forward, over the counter standing in the middle of the kitchen, pressing my breasts against the surface. It only lasted for a few seconds, before I sat back straight, but it was enough for Embry to gulp down and his cheeks to turn red under his already tan skin, his eyes wide in shock. Two can play the game, babe.
“Well, come on, the pizzas are ready.” I acted as if nothing happened, and continued acting normal, taking the pizzas out of the oven before handing a plate to Embry from the nearby cabinet. He was standing close to me, watching my every move with a look of questioning.
“Are you okay? You seem as if something is bugging you.” I didn’t see a single image in his mind that could give me any clue as to why he looked concerned.
“I just have a question. It is a weird one, and you don’t have to answer it if you don’t feel comfortable. I suppose that’s personal, but I was just wondering.” I nodded at him to continue. “How did you come up with all this money? Like, I guess the Cullens are rich, Dr. Cullen is a doctor and they probably come from old wealth or something, but how did you afford to buy all these things?” He motioned around the house.
I sighed. “I actually waited for you to ask this question, eventually. First of all, I should let you know that most of Cullens’ money - if not 90-95% of it - comes from trading stock, bonds, foreign exchange, investments; Alice’s visions have helped A LOT. And, everything is legal. Nobody says that visions count as fraud; inside info does, but visions don’t. So..that’s their story. Mine is complicated. It is on the verge of being illegal but not really.”
“What do you mean “illegal”? What, like, you sell drugs or something?” He laughed but then, upon seeing my blank face he stopped. “YOU SELL DRUGS?” He plopped down on a chair.
“Yes, and no. I sell..candy, sugary sweets, gummy bears, anything really that is considered candy. But, I present them as “drugs” to people who I know are interested in buying drugs. I sell them the candy, which is regular candy, sugary and sweet, something a kid would eat. And then, I just stand nearby or a few kilometers away - it depends - and cause them to see illusions, so they actually think they are on drugs. The more they pay for a “drug”, the more intense illusions I create. Most of my regular clients are CEOs, CFOs, businessmen, investors, you name it. Usually, they will organize a party and “book” me in advance to provide them with “drugs”. I always make sure they pay half price in advance and half price when I arrive with the stuff so that I don’t get fooled.”
“Aren’t you afraid of getting caught? Isn’t it dangerous for these people?”
“Embry, I never, ever, present my true self to them. Again, I create an illusion of myself when I collaborate with them. And I am never the same person more than once; they actually think there is a whole network behind it. And, I always make sure they are safe and don’t take things too far. That’s why they “book” me. I’m like a designated babysitter for the “junkies”. I take all necessary precautions so that they have fun, don’t harass others, and don’t do things that will get them killed. It’s an extra paid service.”
“And that pays a lot, huh?”
“Everything you see around, and many more, have been purchased with this money. Though, I recently had Alice manage my money and invest them wherever she thinks it’d be profitable for me. You know, so I don’t risk getting caught, and actually start making money in a completely legal way. Though, I have to admit, I liked the small doses of danger, and the money was REALLY good.”
Embry looked skeptical. “Normally I would say that this still seemed illegal and it would be better for you to stop. But,..” He stood up from his chair and came closer to me. “...I also know that you must know what you’re doing by now, and you’re not doing anything that is more illegal than what your clients are doing. So, I think you should choose for yourself, see the pros and the cons, and see what would be better for you.” He wrapped his hands around me and held me against his hot chest.
“If I’m being honest, I have enough money by now to last me a lifetime - a human’s lifetime, maybe two or three. And..I think it is time to go legal. I think Alice’s idea was the right one. It will also give me a chance to be closer to her and the rest of the family - though I told her I didn’t want to take advantage of her gift, she assured me that I wouldn’t.” I sighed. There was a lot of pressure in my head, but Embry’s presence and touch actually managed to keep me calmer than usual.
“Can I ask you one more thing?”
“I guess it’s time to go deeper, so shoot away.”
“When you said it was easier to stay away from humans when feeding, did you ever actually kill people?”
“Well, I do have pretty good control over my thirst now. I still had to go through the newborn phase though, for a year or two. I killed many people, I couldn’t contain myself, until my gift started developing more, and I could see my ugly, scary side in their head. When I told you I can see what people are thinking..? I basically can see the images and illusions in someone's head - kind of like what Edward does, but he can actually read someone’s very thoughts at a specific moment. I can only see the images. So, I could see that I wasn’t who I wanted to be. I didn’t realize it at first. But I didn't want to be like the vampire who attacked me. I didn’t want to be that kind of monster. I know I am a monster, but I didn’t want to live at the expense of other humans. My life being taken away from me did not excuse me from taking other lives.”
Embry was speechless. He only had to squeeze me harder for me to understand that he was trying to sympathize with me. It couldn’t be easier for him when he first phased, and every other moment from that point on couldn’t be any easier. I had to leave my family behind for their own good. He has to live with who he is; he has to keep the secret from his own mother to protect her while going through her critical and vigilant gaze. She was certainly concerned for her son, but knowing about the shifters would most likely put her in great danger, and Embry could not risk that.
We have long forgotten the pizzas, but I reminded myself that the wolf had to eat, so I forced myself out of his arms. Embry looked upset as if I rejected him. “You MUST eat. We have a long day ahead of us tomorrow.”
He nodded and grabbed a few slices, devouring them in under a minute, taking a few more on his plate. I looked amused at him; I never saw anyone eat so much so fast. Within ten minutes, he finished all five pizzas I had baked. He looked proud of himself, a wide smile spread across his face.
“You sure have an appetite!” I laughed at him.
“I could say the same about you.” He grinned back, reminding me of the fact that I did actually kill one mountain lion and about a dozen deer.
“Touché.” I laughed and I wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling him closer.
He wrapped his arms around my waist and lifted me up in the air. I wrapped my legs around his waist and we just stayed there, foreheads against each other, eyes studying the other’s soul. He kissed me lightly and I could only feel happiness, my undead heart bursting with love, forgetting about everything and everyone.
Suddenly, my phone rang. We both sighed deeply. “Moment ruined.” I said disappointed, climbing out of Embry’s grip, and unwillingly picking up my phone. It was Alice.
“Alice? What happened?” I was worried. Alice did not just call without any reason.
“(Y/N). The newborns. They are coming earlier than we thought.” Alice was panicking by now.
“What do you mean “earlier”? How much earlier?”
“They may be arriving early in the morning, sometime after the sun has risen.”
“Are you sure? That’s like...” I checked the kitchen clock, it was already 11 pm by now. “...in less than 9 hours!”
“I’m positive. Edward and Bella just left. They will be camping in the mountains, where they had agreed. Jacob will probably be on his way there. The wolves will be getting ready by now. I called Sam. They will be staying away from the reservation tonight, just in case. Is Embry with you?”
“Yeah, why?”
“Okay, good. It will be better if he stayed with you for tonight. The further he is from the reservation right now, the better. The wolves don’t want to risk the safety of their families right now. Only Brady and Collin will stay behind, to make sure everyone back in the reservation is safe.”
“I understand. Thanks for calling, Alice. I’ll see you in the morning. Bye.” I hung up the phone and I turned to look at a shocked Embry, his jaw clenching. “Did you hear that?”
“Yeah.” He sighed deeply. “We’ll manage, (Y/N). Don’t worry. It doesn’t matter if it’s 9, 10, 12, or 15 hours. We’ll be good.”
I nodded. “Yeah.” I paused. “I hope so. Can..Can I ask you something?”
“Sure, whatever you need.”
“Can you communicate with the pack? You can use my phone. Tell them to come here. I have plenty of rooms for them to sleep in.”
He raised his eyebrow. “Are you sure? I mean, that’s kind of you, but, won’t the smell annoy you?”
“The smell will be fine. What matters now is that they are safe. They can’t stay in the woods. They need a good night’s sleep. Please, talk to them.”
“Okay.” Embry took my phone, dialing a number, and waiting for a reply. Finally, somebody picked up, and Embry was talking almost frantically to the other person. About 5 minutes later, he ended the call and gave me my phone back. “They’ll be here in a few minutes.”
“Good. I’ll go get things ready.” I pecked Embry’s lips and ran to turn the heater higher on and get pillows, bedsheets, covers, and blankets for the rooms. I also laid some hair, body, face, and feet towels, in case they wanted to have a bath or a shower.
Apart from my own, the house had four additional rooms that I used as guest rooms. When I bought the house, my thought was that the Cullens may be visiting someday and would like to stay over, so each pair could have their own room. Now, they will accommodate the wolf pack and I was just as happy as if it was family coming over. Well, technically, they were family - they were Embry’s family, so that would likely make me family too? I just hoped they saw me like family.
I finished getting everything ready, spraying some spray freshener around each room and through the corridors, to cover up my own scent. I said I wouldn’t mind their scent, which I wouldn’t, but I didn’t know how my own scent would make them feel, especially when it is spread all over the house. I just wanted them to sleep well, and rest; for tomorrow would be a tough day for all of us. I smelled and heard them quicker than I saw them, and I ran downstairs to stand next to Embry. He took my hand in his own, and we walked towards the door.
Opening the large entrance door, we were greeted by six tired and upset shifters - Sam, Jared, Paul, Quil, Leah, and Seth; though Quil and Seth were a bit happier to be there, compared to the others.
“Hey!” I greeted them, extending my hand to Sam, the Alpha of the pack. He looked at my hand, looked at Embry who nodded, and then, he shook my hand.
“Thank you for having us in your house. I hope we are not intruding.” He was careful with his words, his face serious and stern.
“Of course you are not! Please, do come in.” I motioned them to come further into the house, and they took small steps coming in. I smiled encouragingly. “I have prepared your rooms. Please, follow me.” I walked up the stairs, turning to the left corridor, them following behind.
“Unfortunately, some of you will have to share between you.” I informed them as we were walking through the corridor. “This room is for Sam. As the Alpha, he will be sleeping on his own.” Sam laughed at the others and thanked me. I continued to the next room.
“This room is for Jared and Paul.” Jared and Paul looked at each other and shrugged. “Don’t worry. All the beds are quite big, in case you have restless sleep, or just don’t want to be close to each other.” They barely hold their laughs. I had to admit, they were quite amusing.
“Next, this room is for Quil and Seth.” They turned to each other, and high-fived, smiling widely and howling.
I took them further into the corridor, to the biggest guestroom. “And, this last room is for Leah, to have some privacy away for the guys. I know what it feels like being the only girl surrounded by guys, and honestly, I couldn’t handle being surrounded by boys with extremely high hormones.” I turned to Leah, and I saw her smiling at me, mouthing a “Thank you”. I smiled back at her, I felt for her more than anyone.
“Also, as you may notice later, I have also laid some towels on your beds in case you wanted to have a shower, a bath, or use the jacuzzi.”
“THERE’S A JACUZZI?!” Jared, Quil, and Seth practically screamed. Sam turned to stare at them like how a disappointed parent would stare at his 5-year-olds who were causing trouble. Leah rolled her eyes, disappointed but also kind of expecting that. Paul and Embry couldn’t stop laughing. I tried to keep a straight face, stifling my laugh.
“Yeah, every room has a bathroom, equipped with a toilet, a sink, a shower, a bathtub, and a separate jacuzzi. You are also welcome to go anywhere around the house if you can’t really sleep, or if you feel like it. I don’t have anything prepared if you are hungry, but you may bake and eat anything from the freezer. If you need anything else, feel free to knock on my door or call me on my phone. It is written on the phone catalog, near the phone, on your bedside tables. And my room is across the hall, at the end of the corridor. I will leave you to it now. Have a good night's sleep.” I smiled, and they all said their goodnights, walking towards their rooms.
I took Embry’s hand in mine and led him to my own room. I opened the door, walking into the room. “You will be sleeping here tonight. Hope you don’t mind.” Embry was grinning, a wide smile spread across his face, radiating true happiness. He held me in his arms, squeezing me, his wide smile never leaving his face.
“I wouldn’t mind sleeping on a cement floor if it meant that I slept with you in my arms.”
“I could say the same. If I could sleep at all.” I laughed and he joined me. “Shhh, the others will hear us. I don’t want them to feel uncomfortable or weirded out.”
“They won’t, believe me. I think that you are the first vampire to warm up to them. Pun intended.” He laughed.
I lightly shoved him back, afraid to put too much force on him. “It’s time to sleep, mister. You have a long day ahead of you.”
“Only if you lay in my arms while I sleep.” He lightly swayed me around, as if we were dancing, and walked me towards the bed. He lied down, me sitting on his lap, each of my legs on each side. It was a very intimate moment but I knew that he had to rest well.
“We’ll have plenty of time for that. You now need to rest. Please.” I stroked his head, my fingers running through his thick hair, which shined even under the dim light that came through the windows, from the full moon in the sky. He sighed and I climbed out of his lap and sat on the bed. He took my hand and kissed it, making my insides melt and my eyes slightly stink with venom.
“You promise you will stay with me forever?” He looked me deep in the eyes, a mix of worry and seriousness in his voice. I looked startled but confident in my answer.
“I promise. You are the most important person in my life now. I won’t leave you, ever. But you have to promise you will stay alive tomorrow. For me, for your mom, for the pack, for the tribe.” There was a pause. Nothing was certain for tomorrow; no one knew what would happen, but we could only hope.
“I promise. I won’t leave you like that.” He shot me a small smile and he leaned in to kiss me lightly on the lips. I kissed him back, thinking that it may be our last kiss, but not wanting this thought to come true.
He slowly laid back on the bed, pulling me in his arms, and kissing me on my forehead. We laid there for a few minutes before his breaths started becoming more steady and heavy, indicating that he finally fell asleep. I looked at the beautiful man in front of me. I wished everything was different; that we met under different conditions; that we were free and careless.
“I promise you, when all this ends, I will take you anywhere, show you everything.” I whispered, kissing him on his cheek, him smiling in his sleep.
We talked for what felt like hours; Embry was telling me stories about the pack, their imprints, the shifting, and everything in between. I lifted a dome-like illusion around the house and the surrounding area, in case anyone came too close to us, and I closed my eyes, listening to Embry’s steady heartbeat, as he took deep breaths. This was the happiest I had ever been in my almost 153 years of life. I sank further into Embry’s arms and wished I could stay there forever.
----------------------------------------------------------
I didn’t realize how much time had passed until I opened my eyes. I was still in Embry’s arms, and thankfully, he was still asleep and really warm. He was breathing deeply and steadily, his lips slightly parted. I smiled at the sight; he looked so peaceful and pure, I couldn’t imagine him killing vampires. He seemed too good for me, for the world.
However, I couldn’t calm down, too nervous about what was going to happen today. I slipped away from Embry’s embrace, trying not to wake him up. I slowly stood up from the bed and looked at the clock on my bedside table. 3:45 am. Less than 4 hours away from the newborns’ arrival.
I grabbed my phone and ran quietly towards my bedroom door, opening it, and slipping away, trying to go undetected by the wolves who slept across the corridor. I ran down the stairs and out of the house. I fixed my brain on a decision I made on the spot, hoping both Alice and Edward would pick up on my actions.
I was worried we would not be able to realize the exact location of the newborns at all times, so I went out to make sure we had the upper hand in terms of time. That’s what I kept telling myself - the actual reason why I did this was actually more selfish. I wanted to know how many of them we’ll be dealing with; how many I would have to mess up with, mentally or physically. How many vampires I would have to fight off to keep Embry safe.
Alice saw the newborns coming out of the sea in her vision, so that was my lead. I assumed they would travel through the Quilcene Bay, which was right in the middle, between Seattle and our fighting location. The 70 miles that separated my house from the bay were nothing for me. I was mostly motivated by anger and protectiveness towards Embry - I had to know and warn the others.
I reached close to the bay and went up to a higher point, so I could watch everything around me better. I looked at my phone. 4:15 am. That was faster than I expected. I decided I would just sit here and wait. The clearing where the Cullens and the wolves chose for the fight to take place was about 35 miles away, which was still far away from Forks, and close enough to the mountains where Bella, Edward, and Jacob would be staying for the night.
My phone rang unexpectedly. I saw the caller ID. Alice.
“Hey, Alice. What’s going on?” I answered casually.
“(Y/N)! Where are you? Why did you leave your home?”
“Hey! Don’t worry. The wolves are safe.”
“You know I’m not worried about the wolves! Why are you after the newborns?”
“I just want to make sure we have the numbers. I need to make sure, Alice.”
Alice didn’t say anything for a while. “Okay. Just be careful, okay?”
“Okay. I will call you later. Just make sure the wolves are ready. I will break down the illusion when you are near. I’ll probably meet you at the clearing.”
“Okay. Bye, (Y/N).”
“Bye, Alice.” I ended the call and just waited, and waited.
It was almost 5 am, when I saw movement in the water. I leaned closer, trying to be careful to stay out of their way while watching them closely. I knew I would probably be the only one they wouldn’t be able to see, “blinding” their vision if they came close to me.
From Alice’s vision, I remembered about 15 or 20 newborns, but I guessed the number changed during this time. I was now staring at about 30 or 40 newborns, way more than what we expected. It was as if whoever created - I assumed the redhead everyone was talking about - did not just want to take down the Cullens, but the whole town of Forks.
They were walking rather than running, which I thought was odd for newborns, as most of us tend to run all the time at that stage of life. With this speed, they would probably arrive at the clearing in 2 and a half to 3 hours, just like Alice predicted. Hopefully, they would not come across any humans who would, inevitably, become their meal.
I ran away, towards the mountains and the clearing. I would warn the others when I went there, knowing they would have enough time to get prepared.
