Metal Painting Tutorial

Re-discovered this old tutorial I've made The actual painting demo part is very outdated and I'm seeing a bunch of flaws with it (I would mainly advice my old self to use reference for the armor "design" and the reflections + it was pretty rushed too), but the process I've used still holds up to this day/is the same I'm still using so I figured I would share it in case it's helpful to someone! If there are any questions feel free to just ask Edit: Couldn't figure out how to upload the whole thing in full res, I split it up into pieces instead, you should be able to view it in full size by right clicking the individual parts and opening in a new tab (If someone could explain to me how pictures on Tumblr work that would be great :') And yes, I know the links are useless because it's an image, this was originally a PDF that's why

Hello everyone, it's certainly been a busy time if you are interested in the Lumineth range! I must admit, when I first saw the leaked images for the new Windcharger miniatures, I was pretty shocked- in the grainy haze of a poor-quality photo, they looked pretty goofy. Now, having seen some much better quality images on the Warhammer Community website, I am a lot happier with the designs of the Lumineth 'Treerunners', particularly places within the context of the absolutely gorgeous battle mount of the Vanari Lord Regent. However, the whole reveal did make me consider how I might have gone about designing the mounts for this unit of 'horse' archers. Whilst I do like the 'treerunner' designs, they fell too muscular and heavy for creatures linked to the element of air and I do think the designers could have done better. With this in mind, I set about coming up with a creature that would still feel like part of the Lumineth range whilst also encapsulating the sense of elegance and grace I feel the treerunners lack. I ended drawing on a lot of different east and central asian animals, both real and imagined, in order to try and stay true to the clearly eastern influence present in the Lumineth range. I also found leaping antelope and running rhea useful to capture this sense of agility and speed. I couldn't resist drawing on kangaroos as a nod to GW's original designs. I hope no-one takes this as an attack on the latest additions to the Lumineth roster- it's simply a little experiment stemming from my initial confusion.
