Okay I’ve had some renewed ideas for kings landing fashion bc the whole city is just a separate ecosystem
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Rhaella and Joanna were still alive, they had this “classic” silhouette going on, Joanna bc Tywin wanted her to look both modest and elegant (bc the lady of the west isn’t gonna look like a hooker or a bum- Tywin probably) and Rhaella probably to cover up bruises (Aerys I will see you in hell). Anyways this kind of look probably originates in the westerlands, and since the Lannisters were big names in KL, everyone wanted to emulate them, and so all the ladies began to wear big skirts, wide sleeves, natural waists, and square necklines, often times with a kerchief and some type of hood for more modesty.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
By the time Cersei’s queen, things more or less stay the same, as she wants to emulate her mother in some type of remembrance. Though fashion is noticeably a bit more gaudy/opulent bc Cersei loves to show off and of course everyone’s gonna follow her lead. However the silhouette is basically unchanged, and everyone still wears it, even Sansa when she comes down from the north when she tries to emulate Cersei (isn’t that picture on the right just so baby Sansa arriving at kings landing 💔)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then everyone’s favorite shit stirrers (the Tyrells) pull up. They do nothing in moderation, everything is done in lavish extremes. Giant puffy sleeves at the shoulders that tighten at their wrists, waistlines that start at their sternums, boobs pushed up to high heaven, and cloth of gold and mother of pearl and silk and chiffon everywhere. It’s a hot girl long summer in Kings Landing when Margaery is queen
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Men probably toe a real thin line for fashion in the city. They’re looking for a middle ground of tyrell/Lannister flashiness while still trying to look masculine and serious bc Tywin doesn’t want any little gay boys at court (sorry Loras). But the guys are probably divided by faction, so at any time you can see ether the bright colors and extra detailing of the Tyrells or the simple and sturdy but well made clothing leftover from the Lannister/Baratheon era.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And what I think is super interesting is that at some point, Margaery and Cersei’s respective influences have to collide. Over time, the city sees a combination of the two silhouettes as the two factions intertwine. It’s most popular with people trying to curry favor from both courts, those who want to impress Margaery but also stay on Cersei’s good side. The look is essentially a bloating of the originally Rhaella/Joanna look. Giant sleeves, puffy skirts, and super excessive detailing paired with the square neck, and natural waist of that classic look.

Tumblr radfems: We think society cares too much about women’s appearance and that no woman should be excluded for not conforming to gendered standards of beauty. Only their worth and contributions as human beings should matter. Now let's spend some time judging fellow women for having a feminine appearance instead of judging them solely for their substance as human beings, while also tearing men to shreds when they don’t conform to our male standards of beauty.
I’ll always keep in mind that someone like Dita von Teese is just the sort of person that an American radfem judges and condemns, while she actually lives up to the ideal of not reducing people to their physicality or giving them shit for not looking conventionally attractive.
"I won't tolerate being around people who actually judge beauty vocally. Isn't it interesting that when somebody goes 'I don't think she's pretty' then you... I instantly zero in on the person saying it, thinking 'Wow, I never noticed how ugly you were before', and I don't ever judge. I just think it's a strange thing, to judge someone's appearance."

I’m giving up on men because
1. The fact that they all assume they’re experts in everything
2. The fact that they all assume they’re smarter than me immediately
3. The fact that they allow and use slurs to divide women like Karen, Pick Me, Terf, The Main Character, SWERF, prude, slut bitch
4. The only slur they have is incel which relies on the premise that they’re entitled to sex
5. Moms are expected to be perfect and if she makes a mistake she’s a bad mom. Dads are considered perfect despite their mistakes and even being a poor parent
6. They think sex is a service
7. They cannot have a magic sexual moral barrier that divides children from teens from women. I refuse to believe it. And the media sexualizes kids and infantilizes female sexuality… so what now?
8. That porn is so normalized and teen is a category and yet we can’t check a man’s porn viewing history before allowing them to coach, treat, or be alone with vulnerable people.
9. That some will and can and do have sex with corpses. That deadness is sexualized in fashion photography as arousing
10. That choking has become normalized in porn
11. That we know porn becomes increasingly more extreme through algorithm and capitalism
12. That they hide behind plausible deniability and think we are too stupid to see it - like the devils advocate position
13. That they convince themselves their plausible deniability is a moral standard
14. That even the normal married ones with little girls for kids are shitty
15. That they think their pleasure overrides the civil rights of a person
16. That they believe consent magically changes abuse into kink
17. That they don’t even know what misogyny is
18. That they think misandry is somehow comparable
19. That they think my hurting their feelings or making them feel uncomfortable is a violent act. That pointing out violence makes me the violent one.
20. That they defend Johnny Depp
21. That they’re afraid of false accusations
22. That they defend the reputations of men they haven’t met more than the reality of the women who report them lmao
23. They don’t take care of themselves physically
24. They can choose to be civilized but use animal evo psychology to defend subhuman actions
25. They believe that women’s sexuality is an economy for them
26. They created religion to usurp creative power from women
27. They convinced other men that humans came from a man’s rib, from a patriarchal god, when literally no man has NOT come through and from a woman.
28. They have sexualized every aspect of women’s existence including pain and crying
29. They’ve convinced women that empowerment is a feeling and not a change in power position
30. They blame their antisocial loneliness epidemic on us
31. The tried to use the Love Languages on us
32. They created psychiatry as a way to at least in part control women just as they created medicine to control and destroy midwives
33. They place the locus of responsibility outside themselves which makes them perpetual victims
34. They created purity culture
35. They created porn culture
36. They buy and use and masturbate to trafficked and vulnerable women and it doesn’t matter to them
37. They corner me in the workplace
38. They are always looking at us - I want to not be perceived sexually at all
39. They use women for all of their emotional dumping and we aren’t certified to handle it
40. They resent our happiness (shaming it)
41. We had to create laws to keep them from marrying and having sex with kids. Like, everywhere. We haven’t even succeeded globally
42. They hold women in power to an entirely separate standard than men
43. They’re lazy
44. They can solve complex problems and be incentive and self-improving at work, but are seemingly really incapable of doing this for relationships
45. They won’t see something unless it directly impacts them personally
46. They are emotionally unintelligent
47. They are violent
48. They are wilfully ignorant of the constant threat of sexual violence women face
49. They are making and using technology to get past consent
50. They believe women have a use value
51. They’re lying when they say they can’t show emotions : art, culture, music, etc belie this. And this is aside from the fact that we acknowledge their pride, nationalism, anger, boorishness, sulkishness, entitlement, jealousy, etc. these are emotions too.
52. They use power to get or pressure or coerce sex
53. They don’t mentor women professionally unless they’re sexually attracted to them physically
54. They’re bad and aggressive drivers
55. They’re predatory and some don’t know it ???????
56. They play dumb
57. They owe us reparations and refuse to even consider this - we were left out of Das Kapital
58. They try to turn their wives into their mothers
59. They moderate men and women differently in social media spaces
60. We can’t trust them as soldiers or peace corps
61. We can’t trust them alone with kids period - who do we tell kids to go to if they’re lost?!!
62. That they’ve turned violence into sex “body count” “fuck the shit out of you”
63. We can’t be honest with them - we have to tiptoe around them
64. I’m pissed more men aren’t speaking out about the obvious loss of civil rights of women globally - what the hell! It makes me believe that they kinda want it to happen (plausible deniability of course) because like it’s not gonna hurt them right?
65. At any given time I could pull up incidents where instead of intervening while a woman is being assaulted, the assault is filmed by other men. The reverse simply doesn’t happen.
66. They love borrowed authority
67. I hate them because when they ask “what do you want me to do about it?” And you say the most slacktivist thing, they won’t even do that. They’ll do NOTHING.
68. Because the most unsafe place for a woman in the world is the home
69. Because a woman is killed by an intimate partner globally every 11 minutes
70. Because the number one cause of death for pregnant women in the states is murder
71. Because they believe their morals are their best intentions. It’s like they all think they’re brave but he’s anyone done anything brave ?
72. They use weaponized incompetence to control people and be lazy
73. They believe sexism is benevolence
74. Because someone taught them that it’s the thought that counts and it almost never is the thought that counts
75. That gang rape is a thing
76. Because only a handful of men have most of the global wealth
77. They move goalposts: you can say what your experience is but they’ll discount it as one. You can say it’s others that have experienced the same thing and they’ll discount it as over represented.
78. There’s no acceptable way to be really angry with them, and express that, as a woman
79. They feel comfortable making comments about women’s physical appearance, touching us without our consent and bank on us not rocking the boat.
80. They refuse to believe in the wage gap
81. We could have child care as being mandated but because women are primary childcare givers, we don’t have this.
82. Medicine was only tested on both genders recently because it was too difficult to do apparently
83. Our medical issues aren’t taken seriously
84. Mass shooters are almost exclusively men
85. Because they moan about suicide rates and forget to mention all the women and kids and sometimes strangers that suicidal men take with them
86. They believe they’re entitled to sex - through payment guilt or force
87. They rarely care about what girls think unless they have a daughter
88. Cultures abort girl babies and before they just exposed them to the elements. As a result there’s India and China and the Middle East Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan Vietnam etc there are more men than women
89. They don’t stop female genital mutilation. And they could if they wanted to.
90. More than 100 million women are missing - the shortfall of the number of women in the world we would expect in the absence of sex discrimination
91. They desire us to be dependent on them. Independence terrifies them.
92. They let women leave the workforce during the pandemic.
93. They see male history, male writing, male law as standard and they aren’t. They’d freak out if the USA had 9 woman Supreme Court justices
94. They are more sexist than even racist
95. Male over female Domination is the first and most primal form of oppression
96. Prostitution is the first form of trafficking not the worlds oldest profession
97. They can compartmentalize the pain of others - especially if it doesn’t impact them or their family (their own private kingdom)
98. Every man assumes he’s the king and grows up taught that they deserve to own things, people and property
99. They see women as girls all as potential sexual objects. Especially if they’re mad.
100. They treat sex workers as a different class
101. Women don’t keep men as sex slaves
102. They’ve made the law such that women cannot logistically perform murder itself defence
103. They say porn is free speech and that it’s not real when it’s convenient
104. Despite all of this: all of the proof and every experience logged and litigated… that they don’t believe that women still are being oppressed under male supremacy.
105. Because someone has said it’s okay for drag queens to use “bitch serving cunt” as an expression of femininity- and claim it’s not misogynistic

Note
im sorry do you actually believe misandry is a thing?
it is my opinion as an intersectional feminist that misandry does not exist in the form of a genuine axis of oppression under cisheteropatriarchal white supremacy, no. misandry does not exist in the same fashion that misogyny, transphobia, homophobia, or etc. exist.
however, 'misandry' does exist in the form of a network of behavior that mocks men in a manner that boils down the behavior of men in general to biological/sociological gender essentialism, and ultimately undermines intersectional feminism. misandry, by this definition, exists as a system of beliefs that drastically oversimplify men and those often perceived as men, and the issues they face.
many people are comfortable mistreating men under the guise of feminism, of mocking men and people they perceive as men in ways that completely contradict their body positivity or any other beliefs that are applied to the 'good' or 'more oppressed' genders.
for example, Betty the 'feminist' sees someone who's walking down the street who she thinks is a man. she sees that he has a patchy beard and is wearing unfashionable clothes, and is out of shape. betty laughs at how little men have to try in order to be accepted in society, she mocks his appearance to her friend. betty's friend points out that the stranger might not be a man based on their appearance, that that person may be closeted trans, or may be nonbinary, or any other non-man identities. betty, remembering the rules of feminism, considering the stranger might not be a man, walks back her remarks and says that the stranger can look however they want.
it is crucial to acknowledge first and foremost that this kind of mockery is bad because it can and often is displaced onto people who aren't men; people who are the victim of cisheteropatriarchal society. but it is, by the same token, not okay to treat a man like that either. men are still people, and basic mockery isn't helping anyone.
it's like pop-cultural feminism has decided that men, (or people wrongly seen as men, that's a whole other can of worms) are some sort of category of people that concepts like respect, body positivity, and other general feminist principles don't apply to. because men are the bad guys. i can't think of anything less intersectional than this behavior.
to say nothing of how the (mis)identification of men as a blanket oppressor class (and thus open season for ridicule and mistreatment) completely disregards any sort of class consciousness or understanding of the effect racism has on like, a fuckload of men.
it is important, if not one of the prime goals of intersectional feminism, to acknowledge the way cisheteropatriarchal systems favor men, and to hold men accountable for harmful behaviors that these systems support and encourages (rape culture, etc). but it is needlessly reductive to target men as the sole perpetrators of these wrongs, and pointless to think that bashing them in this way is going to help anyone ever.

This stern realism and grim anti-utopianism about what sex with men is and, implicitly, always will be, is nothing if not understandable. The discursive ultra-misandry that was so popular on social media circa 2014 (remember #KillAllMen?) is happily out of fashion, but the anger at men underlying it – which, by the way, was never ironic – has had no material reason to dissipate. With men like Trump and Brett Kavanaugh in the highest offices of the United States government and judiciary, women of all classes right now are righteously filled with rage, disappointment, betrayal and disgust. Nevertheless – as Rooney captures well – the reason that sharing life with men feels like slow violence is ultimately not the men themselves (not in many cases, at least) but, rather, the hierarchies that, flowing through us all, elevate them and suffocate us. The repudiation of ‘sleeping with the enemy’ enacted by some feminists in the 1970s was and remains widely and rightly derided. Rarely, however, do contemporary feminists acknowledge that a lot of sex is experienced as making a gift of oneself to one’s oppressor, despite how nice and love-worthy the guy in question is or isn’t. Rarely do we talk about ‘political lesbianism’ as a poor strategy founded on a factual albeit ‘dramatic’ assessment of heterosex under patriarchy (as perilous for women’s spiritual health). Even more rarely do we seem to grasp that the opposite position – the position of Vance and the women’s movement’s sexual liberationists – shared that same assessment … only, the utopian horizon of post-gender pleasure, in their eyes, made the perils of having sex in the present worth confronting. Thus there are, as Lauren Berlant commented at the 2019 Duke Feminist Theory Workshop, ‘many new sex-negative feminists’ cropping up in our present moment; people who, she suggests, are ‘incompetent about even their own desire’. Whether we are feminist or anti-feminist, most of us are so exhausted, coerced and alienated by capitalism’s work / enjoyment culture that we don’t know how to have really good sex – be it with men or plants or ourselves or the topside of a washing machine.

NEW HETALIA OC ALERT Meet Femmerica :]
Tumblr media
now i'm rambling about her but there's another drawing lower
She's an American micronation set in Ohio. Early in 1953 a large group of wives took their kids, left their husbands and moved into a freshly built suburban neighbourhood, then declared themselves as a nation. For 10 years no men were allowed in the micronation's territory (except for the sons of the women living there) so they could make sure they have a working woman run society once they reopened their borders.
In late 1963 they opened their land for men to visit and live in. Right now they have 62 inhabitants. (It's important to note that they don't hate men, misandry is as poorly seen as misogyny.)
Femmerica is mainly known for its feminist ideals, for throwing huge several days long dance parties several times a year to celebrate freedom and for its 50s inspired general aesthetic and fashion. They're also a safe place for LGBT people to take refuge in if needed.
Her human name is Gloria Jones, she enjoys dancing, music, and art in any form. She also enjoys baked goods and any kind of juice. And of course, she loves throwing parties all the time, even smaller shorter ones.
She's really close to America, who she used to have a rocky relationship with when she was first created, but now they're besties and America attends her parties anytime he gets the chance.
She's decently popular in America and surrounding countries, as well as in the UK, though often people think she's a town or a state.
It's all fictional so if it sounds like something real it's just a coincidence.

https://www.tumblr.com/olderthannetfic/730572795212398592/what-is-up-with-all-the-trans-men-on-this-hellsite?source=share
As a trans man, I might have some insight into this one. I'm a lot older than the standard uwu sparkle anti, but I was in my mid twenties for the first wave of weirdness about trans boys on Tumblr about a decade ago, so I was just too old for it then, and I saw a lot of guys my age and a little younger get swept up in it.
OTNF rightly points out that young trans men are a particularily vulnerable demographic. This is part of it, but we're also a demographic that doesn't sit comfortably with our identites (gender identities or otherwise) and are told by everyone (on every side) that we are Doing It Wrong, that our existence harms others, and that we must be this specific way to be good people.
I'm sure you've seen the "trans men are better than real cis men" rhetoric. It's meant to be inclusive and to reassure us that we're not bad people just because of our gender, but it also denies us our entire gender identity.
So basically, you've got a bunch of young guys, most of whom were socialised like girls and learned to never be too assertive, many of whom are straight up suffering from dysphoria and stress, being told by people both within and outside of their communities that the are Wrong and Bad and Harmful just for existing. It makes sense that a lot of them would would find a movement based on moral posturing that will accept them if they perform correctly and will use their real name and pronouns. That's what Antis are; they say "use this vocabulary, send hate mail to that person, put these terms in your DNI, don't be caught reading that story", and, unlike other groups that police people's tastes and performance that hard, they're not overtly hostile to trans identities. So you can spout the right rhetoric, use the right tumblr icon, and they will actually accept you (on the surface, for a time, but we're talking about young and desperate people who aren't looking at the long game).
Helping them harass those badwrong horrible NOTP shippers or aces or middle aged women or some random artist who got caught drawing the wrong age gap or whoever is the fashionable target will prove that you aren't a horrible monster for being a man, you're moral and upright and correct.
And yes a lot of it is internalised misandry (that word has a lot of dumb baggage, but how else can I describe a boy who hates himself for being a boy?), or self-loathing born of dysphoria and just plain having to live in a world that's hostile to trans people.
Being an anti is a way out. It's a way to manufacture acceptence. And they're too young and too hurt to realise that that acceptance is as temporary and hostile as the people who accept them only if they pretend to be girls; the antis will turn on them the moment they start acting a little too manly or if they're caught liking the wrong ship.
(I've seen something similar happen to young cis queer guys and trans girls, too, but it isn't as pronounced since being raised as a boy means you probably already learned that standing up for yourself is ok sometimes)
--
I'm sure it also doesn't help that tumblr is absolutely full of BL/slash fandom. There's certainly plenty of gender diversity in these spaces, but it's inescapable that the majority of participants are women. So for a young, insecure guy trying to assert that he is a guy, it's easy to fall prey to "Waaaah, I need to reclaim my hobby for me!" gatekeepy nonsense.
Sure, it's going to be turned on nbs even harder than on cis women and will be used to misgender other trans men in the end and misogyny isn't cool anyway, but that's not what your average traumatized young fool is thinking when they first join up. They're thinking "I hurt."
TBH, though, probably the largest component is that all of us—all of us—have a mental image of a default human for a given context. It's rarely a trans man. And so anything a trans man does stands out and is A Thing Trans Men Do.
This is true even if you are trans. It is true even if you are not a transphobic dickhead. Unlearning the 'why girls are bad at math' xkcd strip is extraordinarily hard because recognizing patterns and having mental defaults is just how human brains work.
There are shittons of cis women who become antis, but they're just not notable in the same way.
Are trans men more vulnerable to becoming antis? It's possible, and the reasons you outlined above are likely why. I think it's an interesting question to discuss if we are specifically discussing why the trans men who do become antis do so.
But we don't actually have any hard facts to support that they are more prone to it than anybody else. My guess would be that vulnerable people are more likely to become antis, so any cis woman with a strong source of vulnerability like a shittastic home life is similarly vulnerable to a young trans man with no support network, but who knows.
Maybe only 5% of trans men on tumblr are antis and 50% of cis women. Maybe it's 90% of trans men and 20% of cis women. Maybe it's 1% and 1% and they're just all very loud.
We have no data. We just don't know.
And we will never be able to trust our own brains on this until trans vs. cis is such a nonissue that we don't even notice it.
