Next I’d like to recommend my wonderful friend @thechaoticfanartist, whose masterpost is here. They specialize in writing their OC Grim Kennet, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Ahsoka Tano. Their main WIP is The Clone Wars Gets a New Victim, in which a girl from Earth is transported into the Star Wars universe and tries to prevent Order 66 from happening.

OOOOOOOH I've always thought dropping a "this universe" human into the Star Wars universe presents an interesting set of problems and possibilities, and this fic absolutely seems like it will tackle several of those!! Also, HELL YEAH LESBIAN AHSOKA!! And this promises just PAIN at the thought of stopping Order 66, because even if Grim manages it, at what cost (because no one can ever be happy in Star Wars). Club Galactic

So, coming across someone’s art of a hungover Hordak made me think of an old fic of mine for one of the Entrapdak Months.  It’s not like he’s a victim of the booze in it (she is), but he and Entrapta do, for the prompt of “Going Out” visit a nightclub for Horde-clones.  I felt like posting it.  I don’t think I’ve posted it on this particular blog.  It’s short and can be found as part of a collection on A03 - Every Overlord Needs a Mad Scientist  Club Galactic Hordak was trying to figure out the sequence of events that had brought him to this place.  His ears were straight against his skull, an expression of displeasure.  No amount of flattening could deafen the blaring music.  The lights at the edges of his vision bothered him.  A tendril of purple hair wrapped itself around one wrist. “Come on, let’s dance!”   “And make a fool of myself?”   “Just one dance, please?”  Entrapta begged.  “To tell the truth, I’m not much for it all either, but participation is vital to the social experiment!”   “Very well.” “It’ll also be an excellent opportunity to see how your new armor holds up!”   Hordak had been essentially forbidden from wearing battle-armor that enhanced his strength to particularly inhuman levels after the end of the war, but Entrapta had been crafting for him a series of form-fitting armors that served as mobility-aids.  They went well with – and appeared to be to the untrained eye to be - ordinary clothing, if a bit on the designer-side.  The power crystals were embedded into joints that deft feline-claws could not get into and so the large crystal etched with the word “LUVD” hung around the former warlord’s neck on a golden chain.   Hordak’s slinky dress was long enough to almost brush the floor.  Entrapta, for her part, was dressed in a smart little tuxedo with a tiny top-hat perched upon the top of one ponytail.  They both looked the part for this club.  The aesthetic of the place was something that Etherians had labeled “Gothic” and the garb people wore here was quite expressive.   Most of the crowd was made up of spacebats. “One dance,” Hordak grumbled.  “Then your promise to Kadroh will be fulfilled and we can leave.”   Entrapta giggled.  “A dance, some drinks and some tiny food!”   “Alright, then.”  Hordak looked around.  He almost ran into a deer-man with a large rack of antlers that had been painted black.  The deer was shuffling with a spacebat-partner.  Now that he took the time to notice, Hordak saw that Entrapta was the only human here. Every other club-goer was one of his kind or a member of Etheria’s beast-folk.   Entrapta started to dance, but seemed like she was unsure how.  She looked out at others in the crowd and began to imitate them – awkwardly. Hordak followed suit, timing a shuffling of his elbows and his feet to the beats he heard in the music.   “This place… is popular…” he stated.  “It seems that Kadroh is doing well for himself.” The clone formerly known as “Wrong Hordak” had been trying many things in terms of finding his identity and things to do after the war.  He was very much unlike Hordak in that he was a rather gregarious sort.  As an extension of this and of the cooking hobby he’d discovered, he’d started a nightclub.  He’d found an old industrial-building that was still standing in a town that had been bombed out during the war and had turned it into a party-hub for Horde-clones and Etherians alike.  The club catered especially to the spacebats because others struggled to understand their preferences.  For instance, this was one of the few establishments where they could get a soured-milk drink, discovered recently by accident and refined through culinary-experimentation.  It had proven to be a bit of an intoxicant for them.  It did nothing for Etherians.  It was also a place where they could get some fairly strong whisky – something that Hordak often had for breakfast.  His kind metabolized alcohol slightly differently than humans did. For him, it was like Entrapta and her coffee.   His own single encounter with coffee was something he did not want to think about.   “You’re moving great!” Entrapta encouraged. “How does it feel?”   Hordak moved with the music and he actually was starting to enjoy himself.  His joints felt fluid.  For emphasis, he spun and dipped.   “Ooh!” Entrapta squealed, clapping her hair-tails, “I’ve never seen you bend down so far!”   She paused and took a pair of champagne-flutes off the tray of a passing server.  She passed one to Hordak and they shuffled off into a corner to sip their drinks and watch the crowd.   “Alright, more than one dance,” Hordak said, grinning.  “Thanks to your armor, I found that quite invigorating.”   “Great!”   His ears flattened again at a discordant note played over the speaker system.  “Although I do find the music to be a bit too loud for my liking.”   “Music?” Entrapta asked, “What music?”   Hordak whipped around, eyes wide. “What?  Are you well, Entrapta?”   “Perfectly.  I just don’t hear any music!  I was just trying to keep up with the others with the dancing, but… it is not customary for people to dance without music.  How does Kadroh get people to do it?  Fascinating…”   “Of course there is music,” Hordak intoned. “You…you don’t hear it?”   “Nope!”   Hordak listened carefully.  He closed his eyes and concentrated on the trills and screeches and upon what he could catch of Galactic Hordish lyrics.  It dawned on him.  Of course! “You shall have to work on inventing a hearing-aid-device for yourself to come to this club,” he told her with a smile. “It would seem that the music here is strictly in my language.  The frequencies are beyond your range.  That could explain why the only other Etherians here are certain kinds of beast-folk. Every species has its own limits in perception.” Entrapta quivered in joy, her eyes sparkling in the spinning club-lights.  “Amazing!” She grabbed Hordak by the waist with her hair again and dragged him back to the dance floor.  “We’ll have to stay here all night!  So much data to collect!  So much study to be done! I’m the ultimate unbiased outside-observer! Eeeee!”   More dances were shared, more observations done and more drinks were downed.  After that, another limit to Entrapta was discovered, that, unfortunately, of her ability to metabolize alcohol.   Hordak carried her to their skiff.  The next morning was spent with the two of them in one of the bathrooms of Dryl, Hordak holding back her beautiful purple hair as she unloaded the remains of everything she’d eaten the night before into a commode.  He rubbed her back and whispered sweet nothings to her, having not changed out of his armor, experiencing a rare role-reversal in who took care of whom.   They didn’t have any plans to go to Club Galactic again.

I have officially been writing tcwganv for an entire year.

This has been a story that I have been rotating in my head as long as I have had Grim as a character. The Clone Wars Gets A New Victim has gone through many outlines and versions before this one.

This fic started off as a way for me to develop Grim's character. In the year I've been writing it so much has happened. I am so thankful for everyone who has ever read my story even if you never interacted with it.

This is the longest I have ever worked on any project. Thank you for sticking with me.

At First Sight

It’s been a while since I’ve posted one of these blurbs, and I really liked this one. It’s got some OCs of mine that I created to be Wooley’s batchmates. More information on them can be found below the cut

Wooley groaned as the Corrie tugged his arms behind him and pulled out a set of binders. He wasn't even drunk or involved this time. He just happened to be nearby when Crys set off a bunch of glitter bombs (Wooley was pretty sure he got them from Torrent) and of course the Corrie assumed he was a part of it. Or just wanted the bragging rights among their batchmates that he got to throw Wooley into the drunk tank.

"Corin, you are a slimy bastard," he groaned. "I didn't do anything."

"Hmm, that's what you say. But you see, you Ghosts rarely do stuff by yourself. Therefore, that kid Jek is arresting had an accomplice. The closest Ghost was you," Corin said smugly.

Wooley sighed.

"I actually hate you right now."

"Don't stay things you don't mean, Wooley dearest," Corin sang.

"Ratio is my favorite now."

"Blasphemy! I have always been your favorite batchmate," Corin protested.

"Ratio isn’t currently arresting me for something I didn't do and didn't know anything about."

"If you want to lie, you need to get better at hiding your tells."

"I've been working on that," another vod's voice called. Wooley sighed. He knew that voice very well. And of course Lovely just had to happen by.

Corin closed the binders on his wrists and turned Wooley towards the Guard speeder where Lovely was leaning against the side.

And then they stopped.

Wooley glanced behind and couldn't help but grin. Oh. Oh that was delightful blackmail material.

Corin stood there, his bucket clipped to his belt so his curly blue hair went in every direction as it attempted to escape its ponytail. And he stood, absolutely dumbstruck, and stared at Lovely. His brother, the most flirtatious of the lot of them, was stunned silent by a pretty face.

Discreetly, Wooley swiped the keys off of Corin's belt and walked towards the speeder, Corin's hand sliding off of his back. He fiddled with the binders for a moment and then slipped them off and tossed them into the Guard speeder. He put his bucket back on and immediately took several holos of Corin's face.

"Is there a problem?" Lovely asked, walking towards Corin as he waved Wooley away behind his back.

"Puh uh problem? No, there's no problem," Corin stammered. "I'm Corin."

"Nice to meet you, Corin," Lovely answered. "I'm Lovely."

"You definitely are."

Wooley almost gave his escape away with a snort as he listened to his normally suave brother blunder through an introduction. He couldn't wait to show this to Mal and Ama. They would absolutely never let Corin live this down. Cyan would get a kick out of it, too.

As Wooley hopped into a speeder heading to the GAR barracks, specifically for the clones, he sent the holo to the Crimson groupchat.

<Wooley: Look at him. He saw one of my squaddies and made this face!>

<Ama: NO WAY!!! I DON'T BELIEVE IT!!!!>

<Ratio: Ha! Thank you Wooley. I am definitely saving that to get back at him for the prank he pulled last week.>

<Mal: That was Ama. But it's about time Corin got a taste of his own medicine.>

<Cyan: Lovely is really nice. Corin at least has good taste. If Lovely falls for him, though, I'm gonna have to question his taste.>

<Corin: WOOLEY YOU SON OF A BANTHA WHORE!!!>

Wooley just cackled.

Wooley’s Batch (AKA Crimson Batch)

Mal: The Oldest TM. He is gentle and kind and gives the absolute best hugs. He’s the kind of person you go to for a nice long cuddle with ice cream, blanket forts, and a movie to feel better after a bad day. He’s also got great advice. He was one of the five members of Crimson Batch that were sent to Coruscant as part of the Coruscant Guard.

Kye: He can be a bit of a grump. He is also the easiest to get with a prank, which the others do quite frequently. Kye also has the most infectious laugh, if you can get him to let loose. He’s also a Coruscant Guard.

Ratio: Ratio is happiest if he has a fully-charged datapad, a hot cup of caf, and a vod’ika curled up against him (usually Ama). Force save anyone who brings him a problem to solve before he’s had his morning caf, though. He likes to tease and joke around and holds trivia nights, which can range from fun little quizzes, to him info-dumping with his batchmates. He is also a Coruscant Guard.

Corin: Corin is a notorious flirt. He will flirt with anyone that he can get away with. Charming to the extreme and with a fun sense of humor to boot, he is very popular both within the Guard and with any Battalions on leave. He is also a massive troll. Wooley and Corin were really close before they were deployed and Wooley learned how to flirt from Corin. He fell head over heels for Lovely the very first time he saw him, and spent the rest of the war trying to come up with ways to woo Lovely. (Lovely is demi, so it took a bit of time and a lot of patience, but he was wooed.) Corin is a member of the Coruscant Guard.

Talla: He is very protective. He was one of the batchmates that was assigned to Commander Rill’s Company (also an oc of mine) along with Wooley, Cyan, Kita, and Maie. When they were captured by Separatists, Talla was sold to Trandoshans along with Kita and Maie. He protected them and they managed to survive until they were later rescued (this is soft! I couldn’t kill them. I just couldn’t). He’s fairly paranoid and warms up to strangers very slowly and rarely goes anywhere without his armor and several weapons.

Cyan: Cyan was rescued by the 212th along with Wooley (and Lovely and a few others, but I’m not focusing on them now). He’s really reserved and quiet, but will absolutely swear like a sailor with the people he’s closest to. He becomes really close with Miggs (a fellow trooper in the 212th) and they eventually say the riduurok after Miggs lost his leg on Umbara. They will eventually adopt a squad of cadets and raise them together.

Kita: Kita is pretty friendly and adapts well to being around other people. At least better than Talla. He was also rescued with Talla and Maie. He likes making friends and is definitely nowhere near as paranoid as Talla.

Maie: Maie is considered “Babey TM”. He’s got the Sad Tooka Eyes (which Wooley learned from him and used to great effect on the 212th). He is a little quiet and tends to stick close with the people he knows the best but is also interested in making new friends. He really wants to open a ranch or farm and just spend time out in nature when he doesn’t have to worry about being hunted.

And finally . . . 

Ama: Ama is the Youngest TM. Always. He loves practical jokes and making people laugh. He has probably perfected several comedy routines at this point and performs them every time he’s at 79′s with a new Company on leave. Loves sitting with Ratio and they like planning pranks together. Kye is their usual victim, but they also target the others as well. He was also sent to Coruscant as a Coruscant Guard.

ALSO!! FYI, Wooley falls between Kita and Maie, age-wise. He’s not the Youngest, but he is one of the youngest.

I'm self promoting myself here, but I want to show off my fic The Clone Wars Gets A New Victim now that it's finally completed. It took me exactly 2 years to write. It follows my Star Wars OC who's from our universe but ends up in The Clone Wars, she ends up becoming Obi-Wan's new Padawan and makes it her goal to stop Order 66 from taking place. It's a total of 40 chapters + an epilogue with a sequel currently in progress.

CONGRATULATIONS ON FINISHING THIS FIC! I know you've been working on it for a good long while, and almost 172k words and 41 chapters? I am throwing flowers at you. And the concept? I LOVE IT. Because I think Grim is such a unique character on her own, but also, so relatable in so many ways. Who amongst us wouldn't try to stop Order 66 if we got chucked into the Star Wars universe? Thanks so much for sharing this and GOOD LUCK WITH THE SEQUEL!!!

About the whole "Horikoshi not thinking his plot for Bakugou through part", I'm here to reveal that he actually DID originally had a plot set up for Bakugou...It was revealed in one of his past interviews. It's just after he saw the major popularity increase with Bakugou, and his sudden favoritism with the bully character, made him scrap that plot all together. Which left us with the Bakugou we got now :/ .

I'd be super interested to know what that plot was because unless it meant writing Bakugo out of the story entirely... fans would still get to enjoy him? I mean yeah, if Horikoshi recognized the incredible difficulty of writing a plot where both bully and victim are in the same class and thus initially decided to get rid of Bakugo somehow—he doesn't make it into U.A., he's killed off early, he goes to another school and turns up later having undergone a lot of growth off screen, etc.—then yeah, makes sense that he'd pull back from that given his popularity. Otherwise though, there's no reason why keeping that original plot would mess with fans getting Bakugo content and, hopefully, liking it. Maybe fans wouldn't like it as much as what we have now, but plenty of characters undergo arcs and endings fandoms don't enjoy. You don't know how those choices will land until you write it and take note of the reception. So yeah, I'm curious as to what Horikoshi originally intended, just because it sounds like something that made him go, "Well, I can't do that now because Bakugo is popular." That's a pretty specific reaction.

It also means BNHA is a part of this ongoing conversation about when authors should make changes to their work based on fan reactions to it. In a time when viewers are becoming increasingly frustrated by writers abandoning planned conclusions to instead provide a "twist" (read: nonsense) that the viewers never could have seen coming (because it's nonsense), I think things have skewered too far in one direction where we go, "You should never EVER make changes!" Well, no. I think it's a case-by-case basis. If an author notices that a part of their story is really popular/unpopular and wants to capitalize/abandon that in response, that's fine. It's arguably smart. The real question is, how is that impacting the rest of the story and will making this change detrimentally effect other things? Deciding not to kill off a character because they're a fan favorite is fine... provided you can figure out what to do with them now, rather than having them just awkwardly tag along with the rest of the plot because they were never meant to be there in the first place. Changing the ending of a story is fine... provided you can come up with a new ending that's both satisfying and fits with what was previously established. That ending is only better provided your audience doesn't become frustrated going, "Hey, we spent 3+ seasons clearly building towards this conclusion. Where in the world did it go? This new one, while great in theory, comes out of nowhere." It's a balancing act and if you can't figure that balance out... maybe just stick with what was originally planned? Because a plan isn't some separate, distinct thing from the rest of your work. It's a piece of the story as a whole. Changing one piece, especially a piece as large as the impact of a main character, is going to change everything else around it too. You need to make sure your story not only responds to that change, but that the new response isn't worse than what you were planning in the first place.

I don't know what we might have gotten with Bakugo, but what we ended up with has, imo, a lot of pitfalls that might have been avoided if "He's popular" wasn't a main motivation. What a story needs and what a fandom wants aren't always the same thing. I want an "Everyone lives and nothing is wrong" ending for The Clone Wars... but that doesn't make for a good Sci-Fi epic. There's a reason why many desires are relegated to fic and fandom as a whole, allowing stories to do the tougher emotional work that generates that desire in the first place. Bakugo may well be an example of that gone wrong. Let the story treat his behavior seriously; let the fandom rework that into a "Bakugo is the best, everyone loves him, and he's my favorite uwu baby who has done nothing wrong" AU.

First Meetings

A birthday fic for @roninreverie based on their own headcanon about Jacen having his own seeker droid named Clank. This fic is set directly after one of their fics which you can read here. They have also drawn some really great fanart of them!

Summery: After Jacen rescues Clank, Chopper is initially suspicious of the former Imperial droid but quickly learns that the pair have more in common than he originally thought.

As soon as ID9-2 was placed on the table, he missed the warmth of the young child’s arms. No not IDP-2, his internal processer corrected, Clank as the boy had named him. Through his flickering optic, Clank watched his rescuer follow the older twi’lek who had to be the boy named Jacen’s mother out of the room. Over the sparking of his malfunctioning shock prod, he heard them discuss the parts they would need to fix him. Clank had never needed to be fixed before. When he worked under the Empire, he had luckily never been damaged enough to need them. Those that had were immediately replaced.

“Hey!” Clank heard someone signal over binary. It took great effort for Clank to roll on his hemisphere to look down to where the signal came from. His optic identified the C1-10P unit that the organics referred to as Chopper, as the source, their robotic limbs waving threateningly in the air to get his attention.

“I’ve got my eye on you pal! I know what imperial droids like you have done to organics. These are my humans! If you even think about the idea of hurting them then I’ll shove your optic down your throat and make you watch as I rip out your-“

Clank tuned out as the astromech went into more gory detail. He was used to receiving threats, be they from the Empire, civilians or the scrappers Jacen has saved him from. He never should have hoped that being here would be any different.

Clank snapped to attention when Chopper cut off suddenly with the return of Jacen and his mother. From his slanted view, Clank could make out that they each carried a box of spare parts and scrap metal in their hands.

“Were you being friendly Chop?” Jacen asked. Chopper let out an indignant squark feigning innocence. The mother gave him a disbelieving look.  With a roll of his eyes, Jacen sat one of the boxes down next to Clank.

“Do you mind if Chopper takes a look at your datafiles? Mum was kind of a wanted criminal back in the days of the Empire and we don’t want you to act on any termination protocols you might have left.

Clank, beeped his consent, surprised that they had even asked. Jacen connected a wire between them. In an instant, Clank felt himself relive his existence of the astromech searched through the entirety of its data. Flashes of torment from his old Imperial master who tossed him aside when the war was over, overlay screams of victims it had no choice but to shock with its prod until finally the gleeful cries of the older boys as they threw him like a rag doll.

When the images were over, Clank realised that the remains of his body were shivering with sparks. He tried to stop it, afraid that his new owners would see him as worthless just like everyone else had. But it was impossible.

In his trauma, he had forgotten that Chopper was inside his data, until he heard the gasp of shook inside his processor. Clank tried to accept his presence, assuming that if the were astromech to resume his threats from earlier, it would be over quicker. Instead, his processor was flooded with datafiles. But not of his own. Of Choppers.

Flashes of a laughing clone who shared C1-10P’s numbers, declaring them brothers shifted into ones of a crashed Y-wing missing a pilot. Then a young twi’lek girl who against the wishes of her father, fixed C1-10P back to life, naming him Chopper. The girl, all grown up now would make a new family, one of a jedi, a Mandalorian, a lasat and a former street rat. Eventually they would become Chopper’s family too. And even after some of them were gone, parts of them continued to live on in Jacen Syndulla who Chopper loved above all else. Who Clank was lucky enough to have as a saviour.

As Jacen removed the wire, Clank felt the beeps of an apology and promise before Chopper left his head, assuring him that they were family now and if their humans couldn’t protect him then, the astromech would defend Clank himself.

FLUFF  :  I love fluff! Though I will admit I am not so good at writing it. However I would love to do fluff threads and write fluff. Would be good practice on writing fluff as well.

ANGST  : I adore angst! It is one of my favorite things to write! (I mean in that 40 chapter story I mentioned only 12 chapters don't have much angst and I still put some angst into them.)

SMUT  :  Absolutely no smut! No way- no how.

PLOT / MEMES  :  I am not too good at plotting I will admit but if you want to plot something with me I am definitely open to it! I do better with winging it with memes and allowing my muse to take control.
