Clockwork is tired.
Tired of the GIW targeting his son mentee. Tired of the Fenton parent’s threatening his existence. Of agent O and K.
Tired of the flashes messing with the time stream.
They may “fix” it. But it was always still a mess.
When an identity reveal goes wrong. Well he acts. Before it escalated, before Danny’s parents attacked.
Appearing before insert any flash or multiple flashes/kid flash. Clockwork demands they babysit his ward if they want to keep messing with the fabric of time.
This is the following conversation.
Danny: i don’t need a babysitter
Clockwork: there are people hunting you down
Danny: i can avoid my paretns.
Clockwork: and?
Danny: agent k and o have terrible aim
Clockwork eyebrow raised: and
Danny: okay okay okay so an entire group of guys in white
Clockwork:
Danny: fine and the entire US government. But i don’t need a babysitter.

So I didn’t actually have the energy to write after studying but in my brain thought of Wally dozing off while babysitting little Bart and waking up to Bart just chilling on his face staring down at him with those Giant Ass Eyes as Wally drooled and snored . Mesmerizing. I think flashfam having snores is best anyway Bart didn’t do any shenanigans because Wally sounds like a dying whale

Any Young Justice fanfic recs? It can be either about Bart or any character from the show.
I have a previous fic recs list here if you’re interested in Bart/Ed focused works…
Here’s a few new recs from AO3…
Breathe Out, Slow Motion by unfoldingbliss
This is an oldie from the Ed/Bart tag list but it is such a goodie - I reread whilst I was finding fics for this list and absolutely fell in love with it again! It’s basically prom at the MHYC with some great father son interactions between Ed and his dad which are honestly perfect!
Bad Press is Good Press by unfoldingbliss
Here’s a runaways and Lex fic - which is not one of my usual finds, as I only really searched the Ed/Bart tag - but I really enjoyed reading something a little different. Also the way lex is portrayed with the runaway’s in this actually makes me really wish we could see or hear about the time when lex had the runaway’s under his wing in the show - I’m suddenly so intrigued and wanna know more about how things were before cutting ties.
Touchdown by dreamsandbread (@kidflashimpulse on tumblr)
It took me so long to get around to reading this but I’m so glad I finally did - because it’s really great! It’s team bonding with the outsiders - and I love it…especially since we didn’t get enough of it in the actual show! There’s fun, there’s depth and there’s an interesting interpretation of Bart’s character in response to his apocalyptic upbringing… also Virgil and Ed’s dynamic throughout is so entertaining to read!
Missing the Trust by Ivanna_panda13
Bart tells Ed about his going on a secret mission with the legion and Ed has to deal with the consequences of knowing that in Bart’s absence… it’s another interesting take on something the show chose not to go into with s4, and I really enjoyed it - also, I absolutely love Ed and Dick’s interactions in this - it makes me want to see more with them elsewhere.
cerebrum by matelotage
With this one I will say take notice of the tags and description because it explores/references heavy themes and ideas which could be triggering… it follows gars decline with his depression (and a potential avenue it could’ve gone down) but it’s seen from the perspective of the other outsiders - something which was seriously absent from his storyline in the series and so I liked reading their perspectives here.
Swept away by two tornados by Toca
Basically, Ed comes over to help Bart babysit the twins and it’s all very cute… I don’t really have much else to say except it’s a good read! Fun with the flashfam!
And those are what I’ve got for now - there’s still a load of stuff I want to read but haven’t found the chance to yet - maybe soon… I hope you can enjoy any of these as much as I have. Thanks for the ask Anon!

Iris: “My biggest regret is that I never got to have a second honeymoon at Disney World.”
Barry: “Goddamnit.”
Iris: “What?”
Barry: “If we end up surviving this, we’re going to have to go through with that.”
Iris: “Mm... I think I can get the week before Thanksgiving off.”
Barry: “Who’s gonna pay for this?”
Iris: “Well, assuming Wally’s going to throw a fit if we don’t take him...”
Iris: “Hey, Batman, does Robin want to go to Disney World?”
Bruce: “I don’t care if you take him as long as I don’t have to go.”
Hal: “Wait, I thought you said it’s a second honeymoon? You’re bringing Wally?”
Iris: “Oh, no, the kids are going to be your problem.”
Hal: “What? I am not going to Disney World with you guys just to—“
Barry: “We talked about this, man. Pay rent or babysit. Your choice.”
Hal: “...I really need to get a job.”

Put "📓" or some other version of a book emoji into my inbox and I'll explain the plot of a fanfiction that I haven't written but daydream about.
I'm constantly interested in writing Bart embracing adulthood while transitioning from Kid Flash to Mercury. And yes, I'm 100% onboard with the "Bart uses the codename Mercury in the future" hc. I dig it.
His Fastest Man Alive solo may have shown him tryna find work in forensics, but I fully believe that Bart wouldn't be cut out for policework at all. In terms of following his grandfather's footsteps, he's seems more intrigued by the "gotta go fast" part and not the "works with cops" part.
I'll always see him as a tech-savvy kind of guy and honestly I can better imagine an adult Bart either working in IT at the basement of Wayne Enterprises or fixing computers when he's not running around in spandex. And when he's not doing that he's babysitting Irey and Jai (aka the Wild Wests) or Jesse's baby or hanging out with his friends.
This is all a bunch of jumbled ideas but the big picture would be to paint a portrait of one speedster in the craziness of the DCU, detailing what he does when he's in the mask and out of it.

That one issue in the Flash in the 80s where Patty Spivout almost has a similar accident as Barry when he got his powers and he plays a whole scenario in his head where she turns into a speedster before he pulls her out of the way in the nick of time, and ignoring the casual misogyny, it's funny that Barry in the early 80s was already a tired dad and going Good God no more speedsters! Bec Oh honey you had no idea what was coming

Boys of Flashfam connections but as D&D alignments.
Barry and Wally: Lawful Neutral. They share the same need to serve justice And Wally’s the “golden child”.
Wally and Bart: Chaotic Neutral. Bart annoys Wally, Wally makes Bart consider murder, at the end of the day they tolerate each other at most.
Barry and Bart: Chaotic Evil. Barry doesn’t believe in Bart, Bart’s trying his best and he will throw hands with his grandpa. Barry is just a tyrant. They have some kind of feud because Bart is also related to Eobard.
Barry and Jay: Lawful good. Ever heard the expression apple doesn’t fall far from the tree? In this case it’s more like that tree was genetically cloned to make a new tree and those two trees make it Hell for the apples trying to roll far away from them.
Wally and Jay: Lawful neutral. They have a decent standpoint on each other. Jay sometimes has old man wisdom but ehhh well-
Bart and Jay: True Neutral. Oh boy where do I begin. Outside if the suits, they are just like a boy living with his uncle. In suits, it’s like a constantly angry bird telling off another smaller bird for wanting to fly.
Bart and Max: Chaotic good. This, this right here is father and son. They have wholesome and domestic lives and a dad trying to teach his kid about heroism. Nothing to see here.
Wally and Max: True Neutral. Max babysits the kids sometimes. They have nothing against each other but they’re also not close. No one’s as close to Max as Bart is.
Barry and Max: Chaotic Neutral. Picture if you will. “Hey old man I hardly talk to. I know you’re basically retired and all but take this kid that’s my grandson, raise and teach him.” Says Barry dropping off Bart like he were a puppy. Sorry Max, Barry can’t teach Bart cause he doesn’t feel like it.

My heart mourns the very real relality we will never see Hal and Kyle interact in a cartoon ever, nor have a speedster cookout with them trying to out Midwestern nice each other, or Bart babysitting Jai and Irey, cool uncle hal and Wally.
Ugh....
It’s offensive actually how little we get to see Kyle in cartoons.
We need just more Hal being apart of the Flashfam because modern comic writers are forgetting that he is.
And Kyle is good friends with Wally and Roy so with that and Conn coming back remembering that he should be hanging around the Flashes and Arrows.
DC needs to stop fencing off their characters.

Headcanon #218
Wally enjoys playing with kids, if he can be a babysitter for kids he will. He doesn't have the same experience with kids as Dick does, mostly due to the whole speed force thing, but he knows how a kid feels when someone show just a little bit of an interest in their favorite activities!
He's tract record is impeccable with all the Batfam kids, and yes he got a four star review from Damian though he doesn't remember being rated for such.
Lian is his second favorite kid to watch over because he does send her with a few things that her dad does not approve of. Like sorry man she wanted this 6 feet unicorn with 4 feet friends to match, how am I supposed to say no?
Don and Dawn are literally like his little siblings and he adores them.
And so on, he believes it's because he's a kid at heart and that's why he just so good with kids and to be honest if he had to pick between listening to Batman's and Superman's trying to have a conversation while temporarily filling in for Barry or babysitting Damian so Dick can fight crime he'd choose taking care of the stabby child everytime.
This part came in really well when he had kids of his own, and when he met Mar'i oh boy he was slowly becoming the favorite parent... Don't tell Dick though-
(hoi it Rei, I got a question for y'all and I want to know what I come back from my break should I make a text/Twitter au series? I don't want to put in a lot of effort if nobody is going to be interested in it lol, it will have yjl/tt/jl/and Batfam, flashfam, and the others and of course Birdflash will be the main one lol. anyway bye I miss y'all!!🥺🥺)

What was the batfam/flashfam’s reaction to meeting bby Asha??
So! I have a few fics in the Speeddemon tag addressing that
Wally and Linda adore their grandbaby. They are proud of Irey for stepping up and working her butt off to be a good position given everything going on.
Jason, Tim, and Dick make a joke about Damian completing the circle of bird daughters, but they all love Asha. Dick feels strange being her uncle, especially when Mar’i and Jon adopt Charlie who’s a month older than Asha. Tim and Jason bring Grace and Dahlia over all the time.
Stephanie, Cass, and Barbara will steal that baby whenever Damian and Irey are around. (Because Asha is cuddle baby)
Selina calls her kitten (and is only slightly offended Asha is allergic to cats)
Helena likes playing with her and tries to remember using nice hands.
Barry and Iris offer to babysit when they can.
Mel thinks Asha is adorable and it gives her some baby fever
Dawn and Donny had a moment of “Our baby cousin has a baby” panic, but Asha’s sweet face made it all better.
Bart is Uncle Barty and won’t respond to anything else
Given the events just before Asha’s born, and his general attitude towards metas/speedsters, it’s a while before Bruce meets asha. Not as sweet as the others.

RP Headcanons: DC Edition, pt 1
Batfam
Bruce cares, tries, and fails, but generally keeps trying for his kids.
Baby Terry McGinnis is the cutest thing ever and his dinosaur t-shirts reinforce this.
Slade Wilson - terrible person, great assassin, loving (if strict) parent.
Dick and Bruce fight constantly! Once Dick gets mad about something, everything makes him more angry until he and Bruce eventually resolve the first problem. It's sometimes big stuff... sometimes really petty shit.
Steph loves waffles. She will trade Tim for a 4-stack with chocolate chips.
Everybody wants to pair with Bruce on Gotham patrols. He gets the best fights and he brings snacks in the belt - it's a 50/50 if it's protein bars or trail mix, though.
Nobody wants to pair with Bruce on Gotham patrols. He won't let you make Social Media posts or stop for a hotdog at Rico's corner stand.
Jason and Dick actually fight a lot, still. Jason knows how to push Dick's buttons and he uses that as a self-defense tactic when he doesn't want to talk. ("Get Dick mad and he won't ask if I'm okay!")
Cass loved Steph before Steph loved Cass. Stephanie figured it out... eventually.
Lucius Fox only helps with the really weird shit because Bruce trades him Alfred's secret holiday recipes sometimes. Alfred's recipes are the true treasures of Earth.
Duke does his best not to get swept up in the weird, wild lives of his batsiblings tbh.
Tim doesn't babysit, he gets babysat.
Ace is the Good Boy™ but he will try and take Krypto down.
Titus is trained, we swear, but he's goofier than a ferret on drugs sometimes. 10/10 derp.
Sometimes Dami gives Batcow walks through the garden to help her relax.
Every Batfam member will stab the other for the last piece of Ma Kent's apple pie. Even Alfred.
Superfam
90s Kon and YJ Kon both deserve to exist. What better combo than the Insta-famous, outgoing showboat and the blunt, introverted buffbaby?
YJ Kon is way more of a "Conner" than 90s Kon. 90s Con is now "Carter."
Carter + Tim = Flashy Disaster Couple
Conner likes Wally's freckles.
Ma and Pa Kent accept any and all grandkids, time-travel or dimension-hopping be damned because "They're our boys, now, Clark, of course we want to see them!", and there are family trips to the farm.
Clark will bribe his friends and teammates with his mother's cooking. He can't bribe with his own, though, because he's terrible at it.
Jon would happily fly to Gotham for dinner before eating what his father burned made for them.
Krypto would probably go, too.
Clark doesn't know what to do with all of his sons but at least they aren't like his cousins.
"It's not about whether the boob window would look good or not, guys! It isn't happening!" is still something he's had to say before, though, and Clark's mildly ashamed of it.
With three superboys up to bat, the real issue is that none of them want to share the name. Jon had it first and that's fine with his brothers, really. Conner looks and feels like practically an adult, so he's meh about it. Carter wants something catchier to say. The result? Superboy, Kon and Rao.
Jor-El had a conniption when Carter named himself "Rao" as a hero. "You named yourself after OUR GOD?!? You disrespectful little-!"
Lex thought it was hilarious.
The boys are constantly in the background of Carter's posts and there's a few Insta vids of Lex trying and failing to hide that he's mildly amused by his son's shenanigans.
Flashfam
Barry is face-blind (has prosopagnosia). He can gradually memorize specific elements of a person's face ("Uh... Ollie's hair is like mine, right? So he's blond! And I know he has facial hair.") but has trouble associating them together unless he's had long periods of exposure to the person.
Wally is a nervous bundle of anxiety. All of the time.
Barry is practically incapable of looking on the dark side of things, and tends to believe the best of people - this extends to his villains.
Cisco is his bro, Caitlin is like the ditzy aunt, and Harrison is the exasperated father-figure that just wishes his kids didn't drink so much coffee.
Speaking of coffee - Barry doesn't drink it on the job. It makes him antsy.
Captain Boomerang - Digger, to his friends - is always on the edge of getting out of the game. Raising Owen ("Little Diggs") is a higher priority than his Rogues work. He waivers between retirement and always that "last" job that'll set him up to take care of his son.
Little Diggs is too pure for this world, and a fan of Flash even though he knows his father is a villain.
Wally isn't as forgiving with the Rogues as Barry is. This is especially true for Heatwave, Glider and Cold, since they've all double-crossed the Flash before.
Cold isn't fond of Kid Flash. Barry earns his respect and, in some ways, his admiration - this doesn't extend to Flash's smartassed sidekick.
Lisa and Mick are a surprisingly functional duo despite their dysfunctional dynamic. Lisa is generally in charge in their relationship, and Mick knows Len would ice him if he ever raised a hand to Lisa.
Len and Mick are best friends, despite the friction from their clashing personalities.
Lisa keeps pushing Len to either date or pick a favorite hooker - anything to get him laid and chilled out for once.
Len is practically addicted to puns. Not even just cold- or ice-related puns, either! He will make puns out of anything when given an opportunity, and genuinely is amused by them.
Arrowfam
Oliver is never in control of his daily life. He's barely in control of his personal choices most of the time.
Felicity runs it all - the team, the company, organizing his assignments from the League... everything other than doing the hard stuff herself.
Ollie really is a capable hero, but he doesn't believe it. He also doesn't particularly believe that the League needs or wants him there, but couldn't tell you why exactly they keep him, then, if questioned about it.
Roy has totally given up the flash and mystique of heroism tbh. Trucker hat? Check. Bow, arrows, and backup guns? Check. Flip-flops? All the better to chase people with. The slapslapslap of justice will strike terror in the hearts of muggers everywhere.
Oliver spoils Lian relentlessly.
Artemis is glad to avoid the weird shit that Roy and his clones get up to when Ollie isn't paying attention. She's never been more thankful that she isn't one of the adopted sidekicks.
Jim: Big, friendly, easily guilt-tripped, the pretty one.
Will: Mature, down-to-earth, does the guilt-tripping, the mom/dad friend.
Roy: Trash, amger!!!, can't be guilt-tripped but can be blackmailed, has no clue what he wants in life yet.
Lian will either murder you in your sleep or you are now a member of her family. There is no in-between.
No pets. Ever. They will get shot with an arrow by accident and nobody in the house is willing to deal with that emotional burden.
Oliver wants exactly 0 people in the "Arrowfam" but will kill you and/or himself over losing any member of his Arrowfam.

So I think this next chapter is the one where Bailey meets the rest of the Flashfam, and it's so tempting to go with the joke that so many people made about the Weasleys back in the day.
Barry, exhausted from parenting two tiny children and babysitting his barely-one grandkids for the past couple of days, squints at the new person coming down the stairs. Pale, freckles, fluffed-up curls - auburn, not true red, but it's between Bart and Iris' shades - and turns to Iris. "....how many time-travelling grandkids do we have now?"
"Actually, she's Linda's."
"..............that's grown-up Irey? How long was I asleep?!"

Hart actually didn't teach Lisa to skate. It looks like it the way it was set up, but it's actually the older lady in the next few panels that knew Len and Lisa when they were younger. At least I'm 90% certain that that is what it is 8D
You were right. I realized that right after I posted it. IDK why but I had a headache when I was reading it, and my reading comprehension goes down the tubes when I have a headache.
Also, I’m a little relived because that would make Hartley super old. XD
(Let Lisa and Len celebrate Rosh Hashanah with her and make ice sculptures with her)

Flashfam. Arrowfam.
Babysitting. Beaches. Sandwiches.
630 words.
(ao3.)
When the middle children of the Speedster and Arrow clans discovered that they were on babysitting duty at the same time, they decided to make the best of the situation.
Instead of watching the West twins in Keystone City, Bart gave Jai a Speed Force piggyback ride as he and Irey sped towards the Californian coast. Instead of babysitting Lian in the Harper household, Mia plopped the little one on the back of her motorcycle and took the road to the closest shore.
And now they were here, thriving on a beach somewhere around Big Sur. Bart and Mia were both at ease, their backs against a conveniently placed driftwood log and their eyes on the picturesque sea. Mia had even brought a blanket for them to sit on.
In front of them Lian played a game of Cops and Robbers with the West twins. The younger girl was armed with a toy bow while the twins deflected her small arrows with sticks they found on the ground. It was fortunate that they were so fond of their make-shift playthings, as their current favorite toys had been locked away after the Great Nerf Gun War of Last Week.
Bart didn’t know much about the messy conflict, only that Irey and Jai’s nerf gun privileges were suspended for a month because someone decided to chuck a toy through a window.
The young speedster smiled and leaned back on the log, his bare feet in the sand and a smile on his face. When he glanced at Mia she was at peace, shades on her face, basking in the glow of the afternoon sun like a beautiful blonde lizard. Although she was relaxed, her ears were attuned to the children playing in the sand.
Mia nudged her friend with her elbow. “You remember doing that as a kid? Finding a stick and calling it a sword?”
The Speedster shrugged. “Not really, but one time I found a possum stuck behind a dumpster and used a stick to push it out.”
“What kind of possum?”
There was a beat.
“Angry.”
Mia scoffed and rolled her eyes. “Oh Bartholomew, never change for anyone.”
On the corner of the blanket was a speaker Bart had brought, as he insisted on “DJ-ing” the little beach outing. To Mia’s surprise (and relief), the guy raised in Alabama didn’t listen to country. Instead, Bart showed a fondness for 80s synth-pop, an era of electronica where the instruments were more finicky and the bass drops were non-existent.
As the janky yet upbeat synths of 1987 resonated through the air, Mia watched Lian playing archer amongst the beachscape. The whole bow and arrow set had been meticulously constructed by Roy — the arrows had been tipped with soft yarn and the bow itself was perfectly tailored to a seven-year-old’s lack of upper-body strength.
The West twins dashed across the sand, dodging Lian’s arrows with ease. The ones that did hit barely hurt, although Jai insisted on dramatically falling whenever an arrow so much as grazed him.
At a certain point, Mia sat up and reached for her backpack. After rummaging inside, she procured a sandwich wrapped in several layers of plastic — peanut butter and pickles on shitty grocery store white bread, a guilty pleasure of hers.
“Hey, splitsies?” she asked, nudging the Speedster.
When Bart laid eyes on the sandwich, his lips curled into a smile. “You’re my favorite archer,” he said coolly. “Ya know that?”
Mia raised an eyebrow. “I dunno — I mean, don’t you still hangout with Cissie?” she questioned, then smirked. “And I don’t think I didn’t see you eyeing Connor at the last picnic. I know what I saw.”
Bart let out a laugh. “Hey, don’t hate — you guys said you brought cake and I just noticed.”

Wally doesn't want to be in Gotham, and nothing will ever change that. Nothing. Especially not a blue eyed Vampire with a contagious smile. Dick just wants to live as normally as possible. He just has to pretend Bruce doesn't spend all his time in the cave; and if he saw the man in a batsuit - it was his imagination. Conner doesn't want to be the head of the Institute. But it has to go to him or Kara, and no one has seen Kara since he was seven. Megan is trying to be a good 'High Warlock' in Johns absence. But Garfield can't seem to stay out of trouble, and charging Conner always makes her feel guilty. Artemis is running out of time. Her past is catching up to her, and no matter how much running she does, it's only making things worse. Kaldur just wants to go home. Trying to keep up with ocean and surface politics is hard enough; mixing in the drama of 5 surface dwellers who seem to want to drag him along for the ride is almost too much to handle. Roy just wants a little peace; but someone has to babysit, and he sure as hell isn't being left behind.
If they stop a war in the process, well, surely the Clave won't be too mad at them.
Or; the Shadowhunters AU nobody asked for.
