Soon after taking up an interest from watching his grandparents run their wagashi store everyday, he decides to help with some errands.

Other classmates make fun of his feminine likings and hobbies more intensely. Whether it’s oddly or luckily, the bullying never develops into physical level; nevertheless, their verbal abuse is still devastating to him.

His father refuses to take over his parent’s business, causing Asahi to yell at both his father and mother for having a low opinion on inheriting the store.

Father and mother then move to a bigger town in pursuit of work, leaving him in their grandparents’ care.

Starts helping his grandparents run the store after school.

His grandfather suffers an acute ischemic stroke and becomes a bedridden patient.

His spartan training to become a “full-fledged” wagashi maker begins, coached by his grandma.

Meets Yuuya who works part-time at his store during the holidays and somehow gets motivated by him.

"Yeah?" He blinked confusedly at them, "Are you up for a drink tonight?" They asked, Shu blinked at them then glanced at you who's looking away and biting the inside of your mouth. He cleared out his throat and looked back at them, "Sorry, I have plans with someone else already for the night." He smiled apologetically as he scratch the back of his neck.

"Oh.. How unfortunate" You glance back at Shu who's talking with them, you don't know what to feel for that. You just hope there's no one coming in the middle of your time alone with him like last time.

Numerous time both of you had been disturbed by your coworkers whenever you're both are hanging out alone somewhere in a restaurant, he welcomed them warmly but you. You're quite annoyed by how the same damn person kept on encountering you and him.

It made you think that this person is following both of you whenever you asked Shu to hangout together, the fact that they also stick so, undeniably close with Shu making you want to just quit working.

You're now sitting across your coworker, he's eating noodles in front of you, he noticed you staring, and both of you made eye contact for one second before looking away from you, you cannot miss that slight pinkish color on his cheeks as he continue eating before asking you,

"Is there, something on my face?" He asked as he leaned away from the table wiping his mouth with some tissue, looking at you curiously. "Huh? Oh, uh no, no.. I'm, sorry for staring" You apologized sheepishly as you looked away embarrassed, he chuckled softly as he rest both of his hands on the table.

"I believe, you, want to talk about something?" He said as he played with the small spoon in his drink, "Ah.. well, I-" "Oh, Shuu! What a coincidence!" A familiar voice of your coworker ring into both of your ear.

You looked up at them same goes for Shu, who is quite, startled to see them here. "O, oh, hey.."

And after that they joined you both, sitting oh so godly close to Shu, making you no longer have appetite to eat. You're now just drinking your drink in frustration and disappointment, this is the nth time they found you and joined you.

You are convinced they're a stalker by this point, you glanced at them both as they talk to Shu, and shamelessly flirting with the raven.

You noticed how he glanced at you, silently asking for your help, making your heart throb for one second.

You then cleared your throat and gained their attention, they look at you confusedly, "Hm? What's wrong?" They asked, oh so innocently. "Sorry, I think you went too far on my boyfriend." You spat out, it took you a damn second to realize what you said.

Oh God.

Even Shu himself is also shocked at your word, but then he followed your lead, "B, Boyfriend? You? And Shu? Since when?? Both of you doesn't seem like lovers at work."

You are screaming internally at them, "I am not ready to show our relationship publicly, and it is none of your business anyway." You snapped back at them.

Both of you are almost attacking each other, if it's not for him to step in between you, the three of you will get kicked out from the restaurant.

And now both of you are walking next to each other in silence, you are way too flustered to talk after what you just said at the restaurant.

"...Thank you" He whispered, you glanced at him, not realizing how red your cheeks are. "Ah, It's.. okay, I'm sorry for suddenly calling you my lover." You apologized, he went silent, you encourage yourself to look at him.

And you did not regret it, you see how flustered he is as he looked away from you, his blush is visible all the way down to his neck. Making your heart skip a beat, you internally cursed at yourself.

He is so cute.

Day after day, week after week, so many things happened between you and him, also with that one coworker of yours. Literally making you go insane, but he somehow manage to keep yourself sane enough to continue working.

If it's not for him, you're probably going to quit your job.

You are so, frustrated, annoyed on how clingy your coworker is towards Shu, if only he realized your feelings towards him.

One night, both of you are working quite late night, only both of you are left in the office. Shu sometimes would come check up on how you're doing, to see if you're still awake or not because if you're asleep at the office that, is not good.

"(Y/n)" He called out to you as he walk to your table, to notice you have fallen asleep. He carefully approached you, he bended over slightly to see your face, his hand slowly reaching out to your face but he immediately stopped half way and gently pat your shoulder.

"Wake up... You can't sleep here" He said as he tried to wake you up, you groaned as you slowly stretch your arms out. Letting out a sigh, before looking around.

You look up at the familiar figure, slowly blinking at him. "Shu?..." He hummed softly as a response, "...I," You paused for one moment.

Thinking if you should say it or not.

You proceed to lay your head in between your arms that's on the desk, "....I like you, and it's.." You frowned, "Frustrating to see how they, ...cling on you so much.." You continued.

He didn't say anything, instead he grabbed a chair and sat next to you. He silently listen to you, "..My chest, hurts.. whenever I see them so close to you.. haha.. foolish of me huh?" You buried your face further as you pour your thoughts and feelings out.

Shu scooted himself closer to you, also resting his arms on your desk, he laid his head on top of his arm. Looking at you, "...Me too" he whispered. Making you slowly look up, looking at your side. Confused.

Both of you are so close, you can feel his warmth next to you, his violet eyes staring back into yours. "..Too?" You repeated, his eyes soften as he finally moved his hand towards your cheek.

His movement is quite hesitant, but the moment his hand touched your cheek, "I have feelings for you too" He looked away for a moment, cheeks flushed slightly in embarrassment. "I, ..have, fallen for you since the first time I saw you" he confessed.

Your heart skipped a beat when you heard his confession,

Him? He had liked you ever since he laid eyes on you the first time?

No way.

You were drowned in your thoughts, not realizing that you had been staring at him. "...I like you" he said, making you snap out from your thoughts. "..I was, so excited when I heard you call me as your lover" he said as he gently brush his fingers against your cheek.

"You did?" He nodded his head when you asked, now you don't know if you should call yourself dense for not realizing the hints from him.

Him, asking for your help instead of others.

Him, who would spare his time for you.

Him, that knows what you like and dislike from the conversation you have with him

Him, who had a gentle, loving smile towards you.

How did you not realize that, he had been treating you differently from others. Yet you didn't realize it, and called him dense? But the signs are not so obvious for you to see.

"...So" You trailed off, "Are we..?" He blinked before letting out a small chuckle, "We, confessed didn't we?"

Both of you are now officials, Shu will lightly push your clingy coworker away from him since, he, belong to you now.

He would come up to you and pat your head, making you pout for him messing up your hair, but eventually let out a small laugh.

You'll hug him by the waist, making sure everyone knows that he belongs to you, and you, belongs to him.

CN 2nd Anniversary Stream Translation

i’ve translated the cn subs of the whole 2nd anni stream, which can be viewed here.

this is meant to be something you can read while watching the stream… an accompaniment of sorts, but it can also be read as a stand-alone. and for the first reason, there is a severe lack of photos lol.

i received lots of help from my friends (the kanataP, the oddballsP and the ibaraP), so i’d like to thank them once again~ T^T

the voice actors in this stream are: →tsuchida reiou and yonai yuki (hosts/emcees) →hiruma shun’ya and takahashi hiroki (guests)

translator’s disclaimer:

-i’m bad with differentiating voices, so some of them are left as “???” because i don’t really know who’s talking

-for quite a few of the lines, i’ve added in some words so as to make the flow of the sentence smoother. it does not change the original meaning of the sentence, and only helps with sentence flow.

-tl/n: reiou introduces the characters with a “–senpai” behind their names, like “Sakuma Ritsu-senpai”, “Narukami Arashi-senpai” and i think that’s just sooooo adorable kasakun qwq… and then reiou says “Ritsu-senpai is playing the role of Snow White… probably because he’s always sleeping” WOW OKAY… “Narukami-senpai, Arashi-chan plays the role of The Queen” (SORRY FOR EXTENDED TL/N i just love them very much…) arashi-chan… reiou called naru arashi-chan… im gna im,,, reiou called arashi jou-sama im gna end up wheezing from laughing too hard

-mama’s the huntsman and hajime represents the dwarves! (or dwarf, in this case)

-the angle is really exceptional, and the composition (of the picture) is praise-worthy

-it’s of his expression when he’s awake, and not when he’s in a stupor/coma; but one of the VAs was like “well that’s because he hasn’t eaten the apple yet and therefore hasn’t fallen asleep (yet)”

hiroki: itsuki shu is the leader of the extremely elegant “Valkyrie”

and participates in the handicrafts club and what not, but everyone already knows that, right?

next up, we’ll dig a little deeper, and have hiroki-san— (tl/n: well the subs said “hiroki-san” but yuki said “yuki-san” so… uh…)

hiroki: how about you ask me (questions)? if you don’t ask, i won’t know what everyone (else) wants to know.

yuki: in that case, let’s ask hiroki-san what his first impression of (shu) was.

hiroki: first impression? “was it really a good idea for me to be the voice of (shu)?”

yuki, shun’ya: oh??

hiroki: yeah. uhhh how do i put it.

i had expected that i’d be voicing a character that’s… more eccentric (than shu) (tl/n: pun very much intended)

reiou: ohhhh

hiroki: because i was under the impression that there’d be characters that’re pretty outlandish… that’s why they got me to try voicing(?) the characters.

hiroki: but then, even though calling them “weird” isn’t very pleasant-sounding,

his conscientiousness…

yuki: he has a very distinctive personality

hiroki: even though shu is rather emotional, he does have this atmosphere around him which makes you want to keep a respectful distance

but (he) is a very orthodox idol

and was previously one of the top-notch idols in yumenosaki academy

and if i were to make an inference, these types of idols are extremely terrified.

that’s my first impression of shu.

yuki: woahhh

hiroki: the result of my neverending hard work–

wait, not ‘result’; (i meant) in the end, that’s how i’ve managed to come this far.

yuki: woah… (sugoi (awesome)). it’s my first time hearing of you talk about this

at which part did you experience/feel your character’s growth?

reiou: the time period we’re referring to is “Enstars 1” (! era) to “Enstars 2” (!! era)

after quite some time

how has shu grown?

hiroki: in the end, it’s only after a very big setback

and from that moment, that he managed to pull himself together once more

even though his unit lost a member (lol)

when comparing it to the very first period/stage

an accumulation of various experiences and idol’s experiences (tl/n: i think he could’ve meant “going through things as a person, and as an idol” here), has allowed him to reach new levels

and (thus) widened the road to becoming an artist

how do i put it

he thinks being an idol as art-in-action

and when ‘being an idol’ is made into a classification (??)

we won’t really think too deeply about what it actually means to be an idol

it’s ‘someone who can sing’, ‘someone who can dance’, someone who ‘occassionally goes on television to perform’

but when you ask “what is it, exactly?”

we can’t help but say, “a singer”

but when it comes to itsuki shu,

(who has) a very clear definition of what it means to be an ‘idol’

so when everyone else has a murky understanding of ‘idols’

it will improve… the style/tone of this category(?)

yuki: help visualise these abstract ideas… and give definition to the topic

hiroki: yes, yes. that’s how i think of it

yuki: indeed, shu has always retained the faith he had since the beginning, and took a step further and deeper

hiroki: that’s correct, he had experienced setbacks (before)

because of the things he believed in

yuki: well then, moving on… in regards to this kind of itsuki shu

hiroki: there would always be people who’d tell me that i like to talk to myself… as if i really like talking to myself

let us start~ what kind of character is tomoya-kun?

shun’ya: um tomoya-kun…

it’s written here that for better or for worse

(tomoya) is really just an average type (of person)

and (i guess) people would say that/think of (him) as very ordinary (tl/n: literally “just some guy”)

but, looking at it from my POV, can he really be considered “normal”? (lol)

even though his senpai and the surrounding people are more “peculiar/eccentric” than not,

reiou: (he’s) surrounded by lots of bizarre people

hiroki: sorry

shun’ya: indeed, the role (character) that takahashi-san(?) is in charge of

hiroki: including me (shu), there are approximately five people who are like that

shun’ya: yessu, he’s always being dragged along by these people

in particular, there’s this senpai called “Hibiki Wataru-senpai” amongst them (laughter)

and… having received their influence

but he has also adopted Hokuto-senpai’s earnest personality

as a junior… but at the same time, he has a strong belief/conviction

(this point might be in relation to shu) other than some similarities (tl/n: for this line in particular, the “this point might be in relation to shu” was written in the CN subs.)

there’s a very serious and earnest personality, and embrace a strong conviction when doing things

so even if (his) senpai say this and that about him, he (tomoya) won’t admit defeat

even though the members of his ‘unit’ are kids that have a smaller physique, and look a little cowardly

(and) the image that they give people is that of (a fluffle of) rabbits. but what’s special is that… in the very beginning

even though he’d be dragged into all sorts of situations because of his senpai(s), he’d always

stubbornly and bravely confront the (difficult) situation

this is a charm that he possesses. i think it’s great

yuki: moreso after he’s been made leader (of ra*bits)

shun’ya: yes, yes. especially when we’ve come to Enstars 2 (!! era)

it really gave people the feeling of having inherited the title of ‘leader’

after having inherited the position (of leader) from nazuna-san

tomoya-kun is consciously (trying to act) leader-like

and demonstrate a kind of leadership style that tries to pull people together

his inner consciousness(? thought processes?) has also changed

when i’m saying his lines, i do pay (special) attention to this

(i) need to cheer myself up to do it(??)

like, i need to be even more invested in it than i was before

yuki: ohhh so that’s how it is

next up, we’ll ask the same question that we did for hiroki-san

firstly, hiruma-kun, what was your first impression of tomoya like?

shun’ya: i’d already mentioned it earlier on

(but) at the very beginning, i thought of him as a very cute and adorable little child

and that his relationships with others are very good

but then, even though he has his cute parts

at the same time, he has this very head-strong and cool (kakkoi) side to him

occassionally, this handsome side of him would emerge

and it’s fascinating. my impression of him gradually changed

and i’d think like, “woah, so he does have such a side to him!

even though he’s frequently written off as “normal / nothing much” by others, but he does have parts of him that surprise people

this character… has a very promising future

yuki: i see… (understanding noises) i think there’s a bit of overlap below and on top

over the course of the story, where did you think

your character grown the most?

shun’ya: i think i did bring it up earlier on as well…

at the very beginning when (he) debutted, it was just like in the anime

all the “WAAAAHHH~ I’ve been dragged into it, i don't want it, nooooooo”

but gradually, he would face any difficulties head on. and he would also be brave enough to make his own opinions/views known to his senpais.

and the latter resulted in (him) saying “i don’t like you”

yuki: he became brave enough to say it…!

shun’ya: yes, he dared to say it. i think… this is how he’s grown

yuki: so at the very start, he only knew how to hide in the dark and want to grow

shun’ya: speaking of which, one of Ra*bits’ most prominent themes is “growth”

and tomoya-kun has already embodied this sort of growth

yuki: that’s right…

shun’ya: if (you) follow the story’s progression, you’d be able to feel his growth

yuki: becoming the group’s representative and becoming more reliable

well, hiruma shun’ya-kun, when compared to tomoya-kun, what similarities do the both of you share?

shun’ya: (in a deep voice) similarities…

(hiroki turns to look at shun’ya and stare at him with really big eyes)

i suppose his confidence to try (new things)

or when he runs into obstacles and feels very dejected

i feel like there’ s some similarities between our profession as seiyuu

everytime a goal has been met, (we’ll) run into a new problem

during this process, (we’ll) continuously grow. this is also the main theme that underpins tomoya-kun’s story

his attitude of constantly breaking through barriers resonates with me

and i admire that a lot

yuki: as it turns out, there is a deep connection with one’s private life

shun’ya: right… though i’m not sure if it’s because i’m in charge of (voicing him) that’s why i think we’re similar

or it’s because we’re similar, that’s why i performed this role

somewhere down the line, the boundaries have blurred

yuki: what an interesting feeling of distance

previously, (i) would always wear contact lenses

but of late, it feels like a major waste of time

in the end, i made the decision to do surgery

though it seems like there’s pineapples only in the Japanese version (of the dish)

hiroki: Japan is so big, surely there’d be places where they don’t put pineapple in (the dish)?

next up they introduce the ring, which comes as a set.

it contains the team’s motifs, as well as a gemstone with the idol’s personal color. the character’s initials are also put on the ring.

Omg i completely forgot he wrote that letter.... ajxjwkd. TT_TT the afterstory chapter with him literally bumped him to favorite character status, he's so much more unhinged than he first comes off as. (Must... reread... the later parts of the game soon... *huff huff* im stuck in end 1 and 2 hell rn)

YOU KNOW, I'm not ENTIRELY sure he literally handwrote it himself (Lio's handwriting is notoriously bad and there's no note about the letter being shittily written... I'm almost certain Ras would be able to delineate the handwriting of professional scholar grandpa from that?)... rather I think Lio arranged every single matter legally up until Grandpa had to write the final summons to Ras himself, mmmmaybe...? That or if grandpa is legit about Lio Doing Everything, Never Lifting a Finger Himself, maybe Lio had practiced writing infinitely and throwing paper away until it was just right? Whatever the case he's certainly the objective reason for the summons and the conditions of it were concocted by him, it's humorous even if grandpa technically wrote it that Ras looks at the stipulations and is like "jesus, a prison sentence"...... there's something so funny about uh......effectively imprisoning your brother because you so desperately want an onii-chan..... maybe when you finish your dark tasks with this game you'll be able to tell me if there's any definitive confirmation who wrote the letter!!!! I'm not sure if I'm meant to see it as grandpa sighing and writing it with such resistance and disdain that the letter is obviously hateful to read, or if Estelio's attempt at being serious and concise writing it himself just read as cruelty, and he signed it with grandpa to evade detection, or had grandpa sign it at the end.

I didn't expect the afterstory to be so worldshattering, omfg, he's so crazy--!! ESTELIO--!!! This really does change every single thing about him and echo through all of his responses in the game.... Iro should have kept in the part he kicks Ras in the head END5, now that we have all information I think it's so hideous and fitting of him.

He really is.... incredible. I can't stop thinking about him. His psyche... I, do understand, why AidaIro love this problem guy.... Ras is in his own way 'simpler' ... lol ....

When you and Bokuto first started dating, there was not a single slither of doubt in their relationship. They’ve spent much of their free time with one another, languidly tangled up in each other’s limbs at 3 am watching Korean baking ASMRs and quick trips to a konbini to grab nikuman because Kou’s stomach is an endless hole.

Unfortunately, volleyball can get in the way of dates that were planned a week ahead to avoid any interruptions. But of course, the coach’s call was always the last verdict. You and Bokuto weren’t in control of last-minute volleyball practices.

You’re always very understanding, especially with Kou’s large, owl-like eyes that always shined with sadness that stared at you as he apologized over and over. He’d pepper you with kisses, you were always weak to those.

Since Bokuto is the captain of the team, he’d give you an option to stay at their practices. Y/N hated the smell of Kou’s gym socks, so being in a room with well over five other pairs was a daunting idea. But, Y/N always seemed to saunter over to the gym after school.

Y/N cheered him on, giving Kou an extra boost of confidence, as a result he gave bone-chilling spikes. Even Akaashi acknowledged this, he’d mouth Y/N a small “Thank you”. 

“Y/N-chan! Did you see that? The ball went flying past his arms!” Bokuto jabbed a finger to his chest with a beaming grin, “I did that!”

Y/N gave him a light clap and smile, “Good job Kou-kun!” A yelp caught their attention.

“‘Kaashi, stop pinching my ear!” He gave him a pout, “I just wanted to see if Y/N saw my spike…”

“I did Kou, now go back to practice or else Coach’ll kick me out!” Y/N warned.

The whole team knows that the coach could never kick Y/N out of the gym, they just bring more spirit to the team.

Bokuto feeds off of people praising and congratulating him. Not in a sense that it twists his mind to the point of thinking he’s the best of the best, but he just loves hearing your words specifically.

During games, when Bokuto hears his fangirls and fanboys giggle, “Ganbatte!” and “I know you’ll win!”, it really riles him up. 

Occasionally, there would be persistent fans of his waiting outside of the arena or school gym.

Y/N sat cross-legged on the sidelines of the volleyball court, dwindling their thumbs as they looked beyond the door. The orange sun leisurely pulled itself down further into the ground. There were a few shadows nearing the gym, it almost resembled like a wolf pack.

“Heyo, love!” Bokuto shouldered his gym back and trotted up to Y/N. “Thanks for waiting for me! You look so adorable today with your little uniform,” He gave them a crooked grin.

Y/N hauled themself up, dusting off the dirt from their bum. “Don’t ‘love’ me, it’s your turn to buy snacks today!” they snickered.

Bokuto bumped his shoulder onto theirs before wrapping an arm around their shoulders. The pair waved goodbye to his teammates.

“You’re a little sweaty,” Y/N stuck out their tongue.

“Aw, c’mon. You know you love me regardless,” Bokuto leaned in giving Y/N a kiss on the nose, as he lifted them up by the waist. Y/N giggled, giving in as they awarded him with a brush of the lips on the cheek.

“Is that all I get-”

“Bokutokun~” soft voices lingered in the air, as the pair was met with three girls.

Bokuto gently set down Y/N and stood in front of them. “Heyo! What can I do for ya?” He greeted them with the famous ace smile.

“We just wanted to thank you for always bringing a great game for us to watch!” A brunette with an ear-piercing voice made Y/N scratch the nape of their neck. Each of them produced a bento box or trinket from their bags.

He thanked his fans, being the kind person he was and gave them gentle hugs.

Y/N cringed behind him as the girls caressed his toned arms. Bokuto innocently allowed everything to play out. He never knew when his fans became too friendly, he just wanted to get to know those who supported him from the stands.

Pft! I get to touch more than that!

The same squeaky-voiced brunette caught Y/N’s eyes, giving them a stern glare. Y/N gawked at her straightforwardness.

The nerve!

Y/N knew this would happen coming into the relationship. I mean, who wouldn’t fawn over Bokuto Koutarou? Captain of the Fukurodani volleyball team, a great friend…

And a great lover.

Another girl piped up, “Who’s that over there? Your manager?” Y/N lips drew into a thin line at this comment.

Bokuto pulled away from them, walking to Y/N’s side and placing a loud smack of the lips onto their cheek. “More than that!” He casually placed his large hands onto Y/N’s hip, giving it a light squeeze.  “Y/N’s my lover!”

Y/N’s cheeks seared their skin, eyes drifting to the floor at Bokuto's confidence. It’s not that their relationship was a secret, if anything everyone knew about it because he’d always say “Y/N this” or “Y/N” that. But there were those snakes that got off at testing Bokuto’s love for Y/N.

The brunette, who introduced herself as Ainu gave a final comment before walking away with her posse. “Well, you know where I’ll be if anything happens… Toodles!” She waved her fingers.

“OH, THOSE BI-” Y/N groaned as they planted their face into Bokuto’s broad chest.

Bokuto weaved his hands into Y/N’s hair, massaging it to cool them down. A few moments past and they felt him shake a little, then some more as he began to giggle. Y/N pulled away, scrunching up their nose and folded their arms. “What’s so funny?”

Bokuto couldn’t help it, he was laughing at this point. “You’re so cute when our cheeks puff out like that when you’re jealous!”

A light dusting of blush decorated Y/N’s cheeks as they were called out. “I-I was not!”

Bokuto brought his lids down halfway and shoved his face close to theirs. The pair’s noses were almost touching. He had his hands casually tucked in his pockets, as he stared into Y/N’s eyes.

“You know you’re the only one I’d ever want,” Bokuto said with a smirk.

Y/N pushed his annoyingly handsome face with the palm of their hand, as they grew increasingly hot.

Long story short, Bokuto doesn’t really know when fans are getting to handsy, but he DEFINITELY knows when you’re being jealous.

He’d apologize for his teasing, it might seem half-hearted because he says it in between laughs and pinching your cheeks. But just take his word for it because this boy just wants you to know that he loves you WAY TOO DAMN MUCH.

This fuckin boy might even lean into your ear and whisper, “I’ll show you how much I love you tonight.” Then would have the audacity to trot forward and yell about how excited he is for snack time. Leaving you hot and bothered, with your mouth agape.

“If you’re not doing it, I will.”  

Chihaya didn’t dare breath. A single move from her and she knew—she knew Sumire will see through her threat. Her thumb was perilously close to pressing the dial button. Should Chihaya say the wrong thing, she might end up having to answer to Mrs. Pressure without any mental preparation at all.

“Wait!” She pleaded. “I’ll call tonight. Promise.”

Sumire narrowed her eyes. Assured that Chihaya was completely serious about her resolution, Sumire handed the phone back to her.

Everyone in the club room exhaled. No bomb was unnecessarily detonated this afternoon, fortunately. “Man, you’re almost as scary as Mashima-san just now, Hanano-san.” Nishida remarked, finally able to swallow the pork bun in his hand.

Sumire sighed, still exasperated. “It’s been three days since I gave Ayase-senpai Mashima-san’s number. Forgive me if I sound impatient right now, because I totally am.”

Chihaya prostrated on the tatami. “Sorry, Sumire-chan!”

“Don’t be like that, Chihaya. We understand,” Kanade patted Chihaya’s head lightly. “But Sumire is right. Mashima-kun has been sick for three days already. We’re all very worried about him, just like you are.”

Komano fixed his glasses. “And as his unofficial girlfriend, the task to check up on him falls on you.”

Chihaya exhaled in defeat. She had ran away long enough.

It was time to face the inevitable.

Chihaya felt like coming down with the flu herself as she searched Mashima-san's contact number on her phone directory. It was a good thing she delayed eating dinner—her stomach was in knots just thinking about finally calling Taichi's terrifying mother and asking her a favor.

"You're a Queen, Chihaya," she muttered to herself, "You can do this."

Momentarily psyched up by her pep talk, she pressed the CALL button.

Clutching her Daddy Bear to her chest, she nervously waited for the other line to pick up.

"Moshi moshi. Mashima residence."

The voice unmistakably belonged to Mashima Reiko. Chihaya instinctively froze at the recognition, failing to follow through with a greeting.

"Hello? Who's ca—"

"It's Chihaya!" she blurted. Voice slightly shaky, she chattered, "Um, this is Chihaya. Good evening, Mrs. Pre—Mashima-san."

Reiko's voice instantly turned ice cold. "Ah, Chihaya-chan. It's a pleasure to receive your call at dinnertime."

Chihaya's eyes latched on the clock. Of course she'd end up calling at an absolutely inconvenient hour. She instantly replied, "I'm so sorry! It's just—I'd like to ask if Taichi's okay..."

She could hear a disappointed sigh. "If he is still unable to message you and your friends, I believe that means he's currently unwell. Now, do you have other questions, Chihaya-chan?"

Every nerve in her body was desperately begging for her to drop the line already, but if Chihaya would back down now, she's sure Sumire would find a way to still make the request, which may make things more difficult. Steeling herself, she took the plunge. "May I come over tomorrow?"

When she was met with silence, Chihaya rambled on, "I was asked by Tsukue-kun—I mean, his classmate—to deliver the notes for the lessons he missed. And our club members bought him oranges and apples and—"

"You may come tomorrow at five. You can help me prepare dinner."

Chihaya almost choked her stuff toy. This wasn't on the plan. "Sorry?"

"I believe you have excellent hearing, Chihaya-chan. Surely I won't need to repeat myself."

Like a soldier under scrutiny by her commander, she automatically replied, "Y - yes, Ma'am."

Pacified with her answer, Reiko said, "If that is all, then I must be going back to dinner. See you tomorrow."

"Thank you for your time, Mashima-san. S - see you tomorrow."

As soon as the call disconnected, Chihaya collapsed on the bed, energy spent. A minute later she got up, exited the room, and dashed down the stairs.

"Mom! Please teach me how to cook!"

"Woah—is meeting Taichi's mom really that scary for you?" Nishida inquired, staring at Chihaya's bloodshot eyes. "And what happened with those?" He pointed at Chihaya's freshly bandaged fingers.

Chihaya blinked rapidly, moistening her eyes. In between yawns, she explained, "I slept late. Mrs. Pressure asked me to help her with dinner so I had to learn how to chop vegetables. Perfectly."

Nishida gave her a comforting smile, "Ganbatte, Ayase. If you survive tonight, I'll treat you with pork buns for lunch tomorrow."

Resting her head on the desk, Chihaya muttered, "Thanks, Nikuman-kun."

Had Chihaya been a lucid dreamer, she would've realized that the castle was simply a representation of the Mashima house, the sleeping prince was Taichi all along, and the fire breathing dragon guarding the gate was definitely Mashima Reiko. If she were, she may not have woken up with a start, embarrassing herself in the middle of Fukasaku-sensei's class.

Looking at how messed up Chihaya was, Nishida began to doubt if he'd be able to buy her pork buns the next day.

It's okay, Chihaya, she's not really a dragon, she inwardly declared. She pressed the doorbell with her free hand, and then sighed in relief when she found Rika peering excitedly at her from the entranceway.

"Welcome, Chihaya-chan!" Taichi's younger sister greeted. Quirking an eyebrow at her, she then questioned, "Do you want some water? You look pale."

Chihaya waved her worry away. "I'm fine."

Locating Reiko at the kitchen, Chihaya presented the basket clutched in her hand. "G - good afternoon, Mashima-san. This is from everyone in the club." She proceeded to extract Komano's papers from her bag. "And these are the notes from Tsukue-kun."

"Please extend our gratitude to them, Chihaya-chan." Reiko took the basket and began to put the fruits inside the refrigerator. "You can leave the notes on Taichi's desk later."

Chihaya's heart skipped a beat. For all the stress she had gone through in the past twenty-four hours, the prospect of actually visiting Taichi had been at the back seat on her mind, overshadowed by the daunting ordeal of dealing with Mrs. Pressure without her son's intervention. Her thoughts led her to look in the direction of Taichi's bedroom.

She had never seen Taichi this sick, and she dearly hoped she could help him recover, if only a little.

She heard Reiko clear her throat. "You may see him as soon as we finished making dinner."

Chihaya's gaze snapped back to Reiko. "H - hai."

Reiko seemed to consider something, staring at her with a surprisingly concerned expression. "Would you like to have some tea first? Your face is pale."

Chihaya slapped her cheeks in response, giving some color to them. "I'm okay!" Encouraged by the thinly-veiled worry for her wellbeing reflected in Reiko's eyes, Chihaya attempted a smile, "I'm ready."

Having tried her hand in kitchen work for the first time last night, Chihaya could recognize how admirable Mashima Reiko moved through the space, retrieving cooking tools from the cupboards and ingredients from the refrigerator with exceptional grace. Taichi must have inherited his poise from his mother.

Chihaya put the vegetables in the strainer and headed to the sink. "I'll wash these up, Mashima-san."

Reiko hummed in agreement. "I'll be seasoning the meat." She turned to her daughter perched on the dining table stool, happily watching over the two of them. "Go work on your homework, Rika. You have nothing to do here."

Rika started to protest. "But I wanna see—" her words were cut abruptly, and from behind her Chihaya could guess that Mrs. Pressure had given Rika her intimidating gaze.

If Mashima Reiko were karuta Queen, Chihaya was sure she'd never become a challenger. If she did, she would have to play blindfolded, just so she can avoid that look.

"Fine," Rika relented. "Ganbatte, Chihaya-chan." She proceeded to go upstairs, leaving Chihaya and Reiko alone.

Finishing her first task, Chihaya deposited the vegetables on the container next to the chopping board.

Time to show what I've practiced. She picked up a medium-sized knife and was about to slice the head of a cabbage when Reiko suddenly ordered, "Stop."

Chihaya stared at her, dumbfounded. Was she already deemed a failure? That fast?

Reiko withdrew the knife from her hands. Then she remarked. "Your fingers are hurt."

Chihaya blinked. "They're all right. I can still—"

"Take a sit over there and just watch me, Chihaya-chan," Reiko instructed, her tone clearly expressing that Chihaya have no other choice but to follow. Flustered, Chihaya merely nodded, settling on the stool Rika had previously occupied.

Reiko continued preparing the meal, making Chihaya feel more and more anxious at being utterly unhelpful each second that passed. She knew she should attempt to make small talk, but her mind can't come up with any dialogue, not even about the weather.

It was Reiko that broke the silence. "If I remember correctly, you've injured your hand once before. Was playing karuta that challenging?"

Taken aback by Reiko's recollection, Chihaya failed to filter her thoughts. "Harada-sensei trained me harder so I won't get injured like that again. I, um, got these last night chopping carrots."

As soon as the words were left hanging in the air, Chihaya bit her lip. Please don't think much about it please don't think much about it please don't—

Reiko stopped swirling the ladle in the pot. Chihaya held her breath, preparing herself for whatever it was that will come out of Mrs. Pressure's lips.

Her imagination couldn't have predicted what she had finally said. Not in a million years.

"You know, I never disliked you, Chihaya-chan." Reiko resumed her motions, "Just how early you arrived."

Even though they were merely two sentences, Chihaya couldn't begin to grasp what Mrs. Pressure was telling her.

Even without Chihaya's prompting, Reiko elaborated, "When I became a mother, I promised to myself that I will raise my child with the same standards that my parents had set for me." Having finished cooking the broth, she turned off the stove. Reaching for the box of genmaicha tea, she continued, "Fortunately, I hadn't had much trouble with Taichi. He is naturally brilliant and determined. He listens to my demands and takes on the challenges I set for him. But then one day he came home saying he wants to be good at playing this obscure game,"—Chihaya straightened up, ready for a lecture—"and it worried me, not just because it wasn't in my plans, but also because the game came from a girl that has taken more than his attention, even though he's unaware of it at the time."

Reiko poured hot water on two porcelain cups, then submerged the tea kernels in them. "Just as how my parents had given me freedom to choose the person I like, I must give the same choice to my children. But you happened to come into Taichi's life far earlier than when Oligo came into mine, and I can't help but treat you with unwarranted hostility for that." Reiko gave her a stricken smile, "But maybe it was for the better. If I had Taichi controlled for all these years, he might have been leading a broken life by now." She slid one cup towards Chihaya. "I suppose I owe you both an apology and my thanks, Chihaya-chan."

Unable to completely digest the sudden disclosure from Reiko, Chihaya could only refute her last statement. "That's not true! Taichi is the person he is right now because of your efforts, Mashima-san." Chihaya recalled a moment from way back their first team tournament as a seven-membered club. She relayed the details of the event to her, narrating how Taichi had uncharacteristically snapped at Tsukuba for arguing with the word 'but' all over his sentences, declaring that a man has no use for the word. Chihaya had then commented how Reiko's strictness with Taichi had disciplined him, allowing him to become strong in his own way.

This time it was Reiko who was rendered speechless. Chihaya sipped the tea, finding her nerves settling. After finishing her cup, she shyly ventured, "If you will, I'd like to take up Taichi's dinner with the notes now, Mashima-san."

Composing herself, Reiko nodded, then started assembling the food.

She found Taichi covered under layers of blankets when she entered his room. Setting the tray on the study desk, Chihay tiptoed towards his huddled figure.

She rested a hand on his arm, finding it awfully warm. "Passing Todai must've been so hard, ne, Taichi?" She swapped the dry towelette for a cool one, setting it on his forehead. Feeling the sudden chill, Taichi stirred. His amber eyes connected with Chihaya's, and he muttered weakly, "Now I'm delirious."

Chihaya chuckled, placing a hand on his cheek. "Not yet. I'm real."

Taichi sounded genuinely lost when he insisted, "You can't be. You'd have to get past my Mom to be here, and you're terrified of her."

Chihaya perked up, "About that..." she decided against telling him about her upgraded relationship with Mrs. Pressure. Taichi would be more convinced that he was hallucinating if she did. Instead, she took his hand. "Everyone was worried about you. Please get well soon, Taichi. I missed beating you in matches."

Taichi grinned mischievously, "You could leave out the beating at matches part."

Chihaya felt her face warm. "Fine, just because you're sick this time. I missed you, Taichi."

Satisfied at her admission, and perhaps still feeling very much unwell, Taichi began to drift off again. Checking her wristwatch, Chihaya noted that there was still an hour before he had to take his medicine.

Reaching up to gently caress his head, Chihaya found herself narrating, "Once upon a time, there was a beautiful prince who was stuck in a castle. There was a big, fire breathing dragon at the gates and everyone in the land was afraid of her. It turns out, the dragon wasn't bad at all, and so when the princess..."

At Yamamoto Akane’s direction, the cheers went silent as they anticipated the next serve. Futakuchi dribbled the ball, searching for the player he was targeting. The score was 24-23, match point for Dateko.

Y/n tugged at the sleeve of the oversized jacket draped over her shoulders and hands. Her palms were moist and contained imprints from her nails.

Shibayama stiffened on the court yet kept his eyes on the ball. Knowing this could be their last point at the Summer Nationals, Y/n closed her eyes and clenched her hands, thinking of her memories with Shibayama. Still shaking, she quickly inhaled and pushed out a yell from the stands. “GANBATTE SHIBAYAMA!”

And then she fled - not wanting to see all eyes in the stadium looking at her.

Colored pencils laid across the kitchen table. Y/n had set aside a dark blue one for the hair and a light lavender one for the eyes. As she wore her headphones listening to her favourite music, she held a silver colored pencil as she added the finishing touches to fill in the drawing of a metal plate.

“There!” she grinned to herself as she held up the picture of her favourite Naruto character.

“Oh! I like that character too!”

Y/n screamed and fell off her chair. With her bottom feeling sore, she looked up to see Shibayama standing in front of her.

“Ack! I’m sorry!” Shibayama panicked, bowing repeatedly to her. “I didn’t mean to scare you.”

Hiding her face in her hands, Y/n promptly stood up, startling Shibayama. Running towards the kitchen doorway, she bumped into Inuoka.

“Oh! There you are Y/n!” he said. She tried to walk around him, but he just grinned as he kept blocking her exit. “Did you meet Shibayama yet?”

Y/n, whose face got redder by the second, muttered to him, “Nii-chan, you didn’t tell me anyone was coming over.”

“Actually I did,” Inuoka laughed as he pointed out her headphones. “Anyway, go say hi.” He shoved Y/n back into the kitchen, knowing there was no way else to get her through her nerves.

After he placed Y/n right in front of their guest, Shibayama said with a wide, toothy grin, “Hi Y/n! It’s nice to meet you.” He rubbed the back of his neck and added, “Sorry I scared you.”

Y/n blushed. This was the day she met Shibayama.

Y/n bit her lip as she scanned the classroom numbers down the school hallway. Being her first day of high school, all of the rooms and hallways looked the same. Y/n turned the corner, hoping to find the second year classrooms. Her forehead suddenly bumped into someone's face, and looking up, she saw Shibayama clasping his nose.

"AHHH! I'm so sorry!" Y/n apologized. Just as she was about to run away, Shibayama got a hold of her wrist.

"Wait!" he told her. "I want to make sure you're okay!"

Y/n quickly nodded, hoping her answer was enough to satisfy him and let go. But he continued.

"Where were you going?" Shibayama asked. "I don't want you to run away and get lost." Y/n finally turned towards him which allowed him to release his grip on her. "You're still adjusting to high school, right?"

Y/n nodded again as she bit her lip. "I was looking for my brother."

"Oh! He's chatting with another teacher in class 2-2. I can walk you there if you want," he offered.

Y/n would have preferred to look herself, considering this was the second time she embarrassed herself in front of Shibayama. But she didn't have much of a choice if she wanted to find her brother as quickly as possible. "Okay," she complied in a meek voice.

As she followed Shibayama down the hall, her palms continued to sweat. He tried to make small talk but the topic fell flat. Feeling awkward with the silence, she also made an attempt.

"Maybe you should wear a helmet," she quietly told him.

Shibayama turned back to raise an eyebrow at her. "What?" he asked.

"Because I'm clumsy," Y/n added. She saw him blink a couple of times before she continued, "in case I bump into you like that again."

After a beat or two, Shibayama's face lit up. "Oh! Okay! You should get one too!" he said with a little too much excitement. "You probably need it more."

She whispered with a frown, "That was supposed to be a joke."

He stared for a moment and then laughed at himself. He placed a palm on Y/n's head and rubbed her hair. "That would have been funny if I caught on earlier," he grinned.

As he continued to lead the way, Y/n inwardly groaned at how stupid her joke was. But she smiled, blushing not out of embarrassment for once.

Y/n sat on the park bench as she stared at her foot in disbelief. Her foot was wet, cold, and sticky. The back of her neck sweated as she watched the ice cream drip to the ground.

“Hold on a moment!” Shibayama said in a panic, handing her his cone. “I have my towel here!”

“No! Don’t!” Y/n was embarrassed enough already. But of course she continued being clumsy around Shibayama. “You use that towel for volleyball!”

“It’s fine!” he replied with a sweet look. He took off her sandal and wiped her foot with his towel. Y/n went stiff at the gesture, knowing her feet were sweaty and gross. She hoped they didn’t smell or else she’d faint from embarrassment. She was surprised she was able hold her shaking hands still, or else his ice cream cone would have fallen as well.

“There. I think you’ll have to rinse off your foot at home,” he told her, picking up her sandal. “And I don’t think you should wear this either,” he chuckled. The sandal was sticky from the ice cream. Y/n nodded in agreement.

“I can carry you on my back if you want,” he offered with a grin.

“What?” Y/n went flush. “N-no, that’s fine,” she said while lowering her eyes to not make eye-contact.

“Don’t worry about it,” he insisted. “Your house isn’t very far. It’ll be quick.”

Y/n gazed at Shibayama then at her sandal. Trying to take a breath to calm down, she rationalized this wasn’t the worst thing Shibayama had seen her do. For the past two months, she had been eating lunch together with him and her brother. Inuoka tried to encourage her to get to know other people in the class even though she was shy with them. But Shibayama told him it was fun having her around. During that time, he got to know how much of a dork she was, which was really awkward at first, but she started getting more comfortable around him.

“Okay,” she responded, allowing him to give her a piggyback ride.

As Shibayama carried her down the neighbourhood, Y/n felt her heart beat thump faster against his back. Not even Inuoka had carried her like this before. She wondered if Shibayama could feel her heartbeat and really hoped he didn’t.

Shibayama started chatting with her - things like their teachers, their favourite TV shows, and his volleyball team. Y/n had met some of his teammates and planned on coming to watch them at the summer interhigh national tournament.

“I heard from Kenma that Karasuno lost,” he told her. “I’m a little nervous since Karasuno’s a really good team.”

“Really?”

“Yeah,” he continued. “Dateko won this time. They’re really good at blocking.” He sighed. “I might need to get better at follow-ups.” He thought for a moment before he added, “Actually, there might be a lot of block-outs too. I think I just need to be faster in general.”

Y/n knew Shibayama was the team’s main libero now. Yaku’s shoes were hard to fill. “Nii-chan said you’ve gotten better with all of your practice,” she said, trying her best to support him. “Maybe I could help you with some drills?”

Shibayama gently placed her back on her feet, arriving at her house. “Sure,” he said with a shy smile, rubbing the back of his head. “I’d love that.”

It was the match point for their game against Dateko. Futakuchi picked up the ball; it was his serve. He had been targeting Shibayama the whole game, trying to make him crack. Y/n now understood what happened in the foyer of the stadium.

When Y/n came down to meet the team from the stands, she saw Aone pointing a finger at Yamamoto. At first, Futakuchi scolded Aone - only to tell him he should have waited for him. With a smirk, Futakuchi proceeded to point at Shibayama, letting him know as the ace that he would be targeting him.

Shibayama was terrified. It was the first time Y/n had seen him freeze up like that. Inuoka had told her Shibayama used to be a bundle of nerves but she never witnessed it firsthand.

Yet in the midst of that, he was still sweet enough to notice little details. When he saw Y/n rubbing her arms as the A/C ran at full power, Shibayama gave her his jacket.

So Y/n clung onto the jacket as she braced herself for what may be the team’s last moment on court. She could hear cheers for both teams on either side of her. But all she paid attention to was how frightened Shibayama looked, knowing he was targeted. The match would abruptly end if he wasn’t able to get the ball.

The cheers stopped. As Futakuchi dribbled the ball to prepare for his serve, Y/n mustered all of her courage and yelled, “GANBATTE SHIBAYAMA!”

He heard her - turning to her, blinking at her. His clenched jaw finally relaxed into a smile. After the referee blew the whistle, he turned back to focus on the ball.

But before Futakuchi served, a heap of embarrassment dropped on Y/n’s shoulders. She froze, knowing that many eyes turned to her when she broke the silence with her cheer.

Then breaking under the pressure, with cheeks red and hot, she fled.

“I found you!”

Y/n jumped at the shock of hearing someone’s voice.

“I knew I’d find you here,” Shibayama said, grinning.

“How did you know I’d be here?” she asked.

“Well, I didn’t think you’d go to the restaurant or to the hairdresser,” he laughed. He was right. Trying to find a place to calm herself down, she left the stadium and found a pet store. She had been watching the puppies running around, giggling at their cute barks.

“Oh wait!” she suddenly remembered, turning to him. “Did you win?”

“No.”

Y/n bit her lip, eyes filled with worry. “I’m sorry! I’m so sorry!” she apologized. “I shouldn’t have distracted you!”

“N-no!” Shibayama stuttered. “It’s not your fault.” He gave her a small smile as he nervously scratched his cheek. “I actually did really well after I heard you cheering for me.”

Y/n’s eyes grew, not believing what she did actually helped. Then a smile formed on her face.

“Thank you,” Shibayama told her. “E-especially since I know how easily embarrassed you get.” He started to blush. “I really like you Y/n.”

He continued to share how he had a crush on her ever since they first met. Inuoka would share about her - how she was smart and really supportive, how she also loves volleyball and how Inuoka was able to spend time with her that way. It made him want to meet her because she sounded like someone he could be friends with. He didn’t know he’d actually fall in love with her.

“What? N-no, I-,” Y/n started to reply. “I wouldn’t be a good girlfriend, I-”

“No, don’t reject me for that.” Shibayama took her hands and looked at her with determination. “No, I don’t want to be just friends.”

Y/n blinked a couple of times, surprised at his assertive tone. “U-uh, okay,” she replied. She couldn’t say no to that.

Shibayama got so excited that he cheered and then gave Y/n a kiss on her forehead. When she finally noticed what had happened, she hid her face in his chest, telling him not to look at her.

I hope you liked it! Sorry this took so long. I wanted this to be a one-shot since Shibayama doesn’t have one. I thought Shibayama would be a cute fit because he'd be able to relate to being embarrassed. :)

HLITF: This is not the story of your first night: Soma - otona love - chapter 3 summary/translation

and we’re onto chapter 3! you can read the previous chapter here or check my new translations page to read from the beginning.

soma has just whispered in your ear (that you guys aren’t like that [doing SM play]) and you swear his lips touched your ear. you involuntarily put your hands on your ears at the feeling of his breath and he smiles. he’s read you completely again and you’re shocked that he could see into your mind to know that you were suspecting that the two of you had been engaging in sadomasochistic play.

soma: “but my “words” seem to trouble you...” 

honestly how dare you say that with that face omg i know exactly what he’s doing!! the way he phrases things (guilt tripping you) while also using keigo honestly makes me die i love it so much. 

he tells you that you worry too much and you say “n-no... i’m not really worried...” 

soma says he will refrain from saying such things in the future. meanwhile i’m here screaming bc i love it when he's mean and we all know that the mc is do-M (super masochist) and also secretly loves it lmao.

soma: “of course, if you want to play like that-”

you: “I’M OKAY!!” 

you freak out bc he’s saying all this in the department office!! 

soma: “please tell me whenever you change your mind”

omg i actually need to take a break from this bc i’m like giddy at him having the gall to say that with that smile in the workplace!!!

anyway tsugaru pops up and tells you to do some work and you’re intimidated by the pressure of another smile (tsugaru’s). soma excuses himself politely and then tsugaru says he doesn’t have to run away like that. soma replies that he also has “work” to do (mirroring the way that tsugaru told you to get to work). 

“the two of them are sending pressuring smiles to each other” 

“awawa... why are these people always like this...” 

lmaoooo i’m done hahaha hlitf mc is so done with their shit and i’m here having another break bc i’m laughing so hard. i’m getting flashbacks to that confrontation in soma ss3 where mc has this face... you know the one... 

tsugaru asks if shuusuke-kun is also going to an SM bar, but soma says that he’ll leave the infiltration up to kurosawa. tsugaru asks won’t you experience it personally for work (not sure who he’s talking to) and you are like ?!?! why are you looking at me? 

i imagine she has that face again lol.

soma says well, if you want to get some SM experience, you could do it through this public safety division. tsugaru says everyone here (in public safety) is an S type and you think “that’s what i thought too!” 

then tsugaru says: “wouldn’t it be better to be the SM division of the national police instead?” 

anyone who says hlitf isn’t the best voltage title ever is a liar. 

you’re like “eh...” but you wonder why he’s still looking at you and if your thoughts are being leaked to tsugaru as well. 

“by the way usa-chan [lil bun], you haven’t leaked information about shuusuke-kun, right?” tsugaru says. you deny it. he asks you if you’ll do your best for each other’s work and soma agrees and says you guys never tell each other anything. i think basically what tsugaru is asking is if you guys leak information to each other and soma is saying that you guys don’t discuss work secrets with each other. with a small laugh, soma leaves.  

obviously you don’t leak the contents of your investigations but you wonder if soma can really say “such a remark”?

(i’m not 100% sure what she’s talking about here. i wonder if soma said something like leaking investigation content would be useless (無用) which then prompts the response?

“捜査内容の他言無用は当然のこととしても… 颯馬さん、本当にできるのかな？ ”そういう発言” を控えることなんて” this is the full text if anyone can help me!)

soma’s mean remarks come as naturally to him as breathing. you take these remarks naturally because you're always hearing them, but is that what you would call kotobazeme? (verbal attack) you start working at your seat, but your head is in the clouds, wondering what kotobazeme even is.

tsugaru: “that’s a nice expression” 

tsugaru: “a woman’s face when she’s lost in thought is sexy, isn’t it”

you wonder if this is also kotobazeme.... no, it’s sekuhara [sexual harrassment]...? tsugaru tells you he likes that kind of face that thinks about amazing/outrageous things but also doesn’t think about anything and you realise, this isn’t sexual harassment or verbal attack...

“IT’S JUST SARCASM...!”

“momose-san ... i wish you would stop laughing through your nose like that”

this is the first time i remember actually seeing the momose smiling sprite and i can’t believe i have to see it bc i just got dissed by tsugaru wtf!! i wanted to see momose smile/laugh but not like this...........

anyway, tsugaru announces the new target, hands out case documents and then says something about needing 2 people to carry it out. momose directs an extremely annoyed look at you when he understands what that means (that it’s you and him on this mission). 

tsugaru says yoroshiku ne and momose has to accept. he replies well, but you can tell he definitely doesn’t want to do this with you. momose immediately stands up with the documents and says let’s go. 

on a side note, seeing momose’s face on my larger laptop screen has me swooning... maybe bc his skin looks so milky and we have the same hair colour lmao?? i would die for a momose route.

you tell him “w-wait, let me get ready-” and he’s like “you’re so slow”. you haven’t even read the materials yet. tsugaru says ganbatte ne, you reply ittekimasu (i’m off!) and leave the division in a hurry. 

you run after momose and see soma talking on the phone and wonder who he’s talking to. (he basically just says “yes” and “that’s right” a lot on the phone here.) you’re in a rush, but your pace slows down. it’s hard to listen in/ask about the conversation because it might be concerning a mission. you hear him say that the matter is going as planned and you exchange nods/slight bows as he's talking. his eyes are kinder than you expected, your heart thumps and you have to drop your gaze a little. 

“...such pretty fingers,” you think. your gaze lingers on soma’s hand which is carrying a smartphone as he walks further slowly. 

“soma’s fingers are so long and straight, and supple”

“i’m used to seeing them, but somehow my heart is still pounding”

“when those fingers are “attacking” it’s a one hit KO*” (😲🤯)

*by attacking, you know what that means ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ichikoro means like defeated in one blow, but here i think she’s basically saying that when he fingers her (or touches her with his fingers if we want to be milder), it gets her weak (or makes her orgasm??)/she’s done immediately. 

anyway you’re like ?!?! omg what am i thinking!! you shake your head and can’t believe what kind of crazy thoughts are popping into your head when you’re at work. soma’s like “?” and you yelp “e-excuse me!”, bow and pass him quickly. it’s because you were thinking about “verbal attack” [kotobazeme] ... but even then, to think about soma’s “finger attack” [yubizeme]...!**

**verbal attack = kotobazeme (言葉攻め) and finger attack = yubizeme (指攻め) use the same term seme (攻め). basically she was thinking about one type of “attacking” and then she thought about his fingers so that’s where her mind landed - in the gutter lmao

“ahh i’m the worst, this is so embarrassing,” you think. your whole body gets hot and you try to escape but - 

???: “you dropped this”

that’s definitely soma’s voice. you can’t ignore him... you turn around helplessly and soma, who has finished his call, presents you with your handkerchief. he tells you it fell from your bag, and you thank him. he asks you what happened to make you so panicked. you tell him momose is waiting for you and he says “oh yes, he went out just before you”. you say that you’re accompanying him [momose] and soma says to please be careful if you’re tailing someone. 

soma: “with such a red face, you’re very conspicuous” 

he chuckles at you and your face and body grow hotter. 

“i-is this verbal attack [kotobazeme]...!?”

soma made such a remark after all-

soma: “my apologies, i just said i would refrain”

your thought that “it’s impossible for you to refrain [from verbal attack]!” was read again. 

soma: “but what i’m refraining from-”

with a sudden meaningful smile, soma’s face drew closer...

aaand that’s the end of chapter 3! i can’t believe we’re already halfway through. this story has me constantly laughing and swooning. seeing hlitf mc get all thirsty fantasising about soma’s fingers is so on brand for her i love it. i’m so looking forward to seeing soma being a massive tease (what’s new lol). hope you enjoyed this chapter and please let me know what you’re enjoying the most about this story, or what your predictions are for the rest of the chapters! i think the mission she’s on is going to land her at an SM bar haha... she hasn’t had time to look through the case file yet and i think the reason for that is that she’s going to be completely shocked when she finds out what she has to do on this mission.

「Scenario of Bakugou, Todoroki and Midoriya deal with their S/O’s troublesome period pains for their first time. 」

MIDORIYA IZUKU

Midoriya was freaking out.

It’s true that he was observant, a trait that had helped him greatly in the past. He discovered your likes and dislikes, as well as your habits. His observant nature allowed him to vaguely make out what you were thinking about. With your face twisted in pain and hands clutching your stomach, Midoriya was worried that you might’ve caught some disease. He was already by your side the moment he reached your room.

“Wh-What’s wrong? Your stomach hurts? Is it internal bleeding or a stomach bug? Are you okay, [First Name]-chan?” the freckled boy began fretted over you.

“Izuku.....it’s just my period, just stomach cramps.” you managed to mumble, flashing him a small smile as you slowly sit up on the bed.

“I’m just dying, slowly dying in a very painful way.” you moaned dramatically and laid back onto the bed. Midoriya slowly approached you, watching as you rolled over and bury your face onto the pillow. The mumbled groans and complains were all muffled by your pillow. Honestly, he was at lost, unsure of what he was supposed to do in this situation.

“Do you want anything? Meds? Food? Something to drink?” the male questioned, eyes filled with nothing but worry and concern. You mulled over the things that you could possibly need. Before you could even give your answer, Midoriya was already on his phone.

“There’s a lot of medicine like Advil, Aleve or Tylenol......oh and also Panadol Menstural! Which one do you use? I’ll just to the store to get some for you. Heating pads can also help do you want any? Do you need more pads or tampons? I’ll go get them!”

“Izuku, honey.....please calm down.” you could hear him mumble to himself about things that were inaudible to you.

“I already have everything so I just need you to go get them for me.” you told him with a weak smile. 

After telling your boyfriend where you kept your things, he immediately rushed to get them and didn’t forget to bring a glass of water for you. By the time he came back, you were already seated up and waiting for him. Once you had your meds and a heating pad, you laid back down. The pain subsided but it didn’t go away yet so you were still in pain. Midoriya sat on the side of the bed, eyeing you with concern.

“Is there anything else I can do? Does it still hurt?” he questioned.

“It’s okay, Izuku. I will get better after some rest.”

“Oh.....okay.” 

“But.....I think cuddling with you will make me feel better.” you smiled lightly at your boyfriend who’s cheeks flushed light red as his whole face lit up. With the opportunity of being able to ease your pain. He was quick to join you in bed, wrapping his arms around your belly and burying his face onto your hair.

BAKUGOU KATSUKI

Bakugou was obviously ― much calmer compared to others. He had this face that looked like it wasn’t a big deal but in reality, he was confused as fuck. The concept of a period is completely foreign to him. He wasn’t a girl so he couldn’t possibly sympathize and say that he knows how it feels. Seeing you curled up into a ball on the bed wasn’t a sight that was rare but the way your face was scrunched up in pain, that was something he grew concerned of. 

“What the fuck is going on? Did you eat something wrong?” Bakugou has no chill and quickly assumed that you ate something bad earlier that resulted in a stomachache. But he had a feeling that it was something more worrisome. The moment you rolled over, letting out a whine, he was already standing at the side of your bed.

“Period cramps.....they’re so annoying.....It feels like I’m dying.”

Instantly all his worries faded, replaced by confusion and slight concern. Now, he may know a few things about a girl’s monthly phase but he wasn’t a know-it-all. Honestly, it looked like you were going to die if he didn’t do something about it. You were rolling on the bed with a pillow hugged close to your chest. He wanted to say that you were overexaggerating but Bakugou couldn’t see the usual playful spark in your eyes. 

To say that he was panicking is an understatement. He had no idea what he can do to help you. It didn’t help that you appear to be in too much pain to even speak. He sat down next to you, awkwardly patting your back while you were moaning in pain. Pressing his lips against your forehead, he mumbled something about running to the store to fetch you a few things. 

Even though he seemed calm and collected, he was panicking a lot. He had never used his phone so intensively before. Numerous words were scanned through and various websites were accessed. There was no way he could just ask another girl for embarrassing things like this. And so Bakugou was standing at the feminine care section while glaring at his phone like he wanted to destroy it.

He bought a lot of things. You went through all the things he had brought for you, there were pads, chocolate, some ice cream, painkillers, and heating pads. Everything that could possibly ask for during your period. Sitting next to you, the male watched as you broke out into a grin.

“Thank you, Katsuki! This means a lot to me......How did you know what to get though?” you mumbled the rest mostly to yourself.

“Do you wanna cuddle or some shit like that?” Bakugou then asked, rubbing the back of his head while avoiding your gaze. You nodded eagerly and made space for him to get on the bed. Your response was immediate, instantly clinging onto your boyfriend as he wrapped his around your waist, enveloping you in his warmth. The warmth that welcomed you made you extremely comfortable.

You instantly relaxed in his hold and the pain started to subside.

TODOROKI SHOUTO

“Period....?”

“You know.....menstruation.”

Definitely clueless. Todoroki definitely has no knowledge about how the female body works. Watching you lie down on the bed looking miserable made his heart clench painfully. He wasn’t sure what he could do to alleviate your pain. All he could do was sit on the bed and hold onto your hand, rubbing the back. He kept on asking you what he can do to help you but all he got as a response was a quiet ‘I’m fine, Shouto.’ and give him a small smile.

Being with you for a long time had changed him a lot. He was starting to become observant and now it was easy to read your thoughts by watching your expressions. But it doesn’t work all the time. This just happened to be one of the rare moments he was able to see through your mask. Despite constantly denying, he knew that you were in pain. As he excused himself from your room, Todoroki stood in the hallway and pulled out his phone.

Internet would give you odd suggestions. Even so, it was still one of the things that would help him. He had no other choice. However, the information further confused him, there were things that he wasn’t certain about. Instead of relying on the internet, he chose to dial a certain number.

”Hello, nee-san? I need some help.”

Todoroki came back home an hour after you heard him leave the house. You rose from the bed and slowly made your way to the living room to see your boyfriend taking off his shoes. He was carrying, a lot of groceries ― really, it was a whole lot.

“Shouto? Did you go to the store? I thought we have enough food.” you mumbled, watching him place everything on the couch.

“I didn’t know which pads you use so I got one of each.” Todoroki said nonchalantly, holding out a pack of sanitary pads for you. Awkwardly taking the item from his hands, you observed the rest that came along with it. ‘These could definitely last me three months.’ you said to yourself before he rummaged through another plastic bag.

“I brought your favorite snacks, all of them.” he presented the mentioned items that were all inside a plastic bag. You were elated to see a whole bag filled with the snacks you were craving for.

“Thank you so much, Shouto! You’re the best!” you wrapped your arms around the male and rubbed your cheek against his clothed chest.
