The worst part of being a Garth fan is knowing he'll lose 99% of the polls he's in just because hardly any people actually know anything about him/don't care about him

Suptober 2022 Day 31 - Costume
Short fic, 627 words, Claire Novak/Kaia Nieves, Dean Winchester
The whole family is in the bunker, ready to take Garth and Bess's kids out trick-or-treating. Will Dean, Claire, and Kaia stop sassing each other long enough to get in the damn car?
Under the cut or on Ao3
Costume
Dean walked down the bunker hallway, adjusting his proton pack as he went. He stopped in front of one of the doors, banged loudly on it, and said, “Come on, we’re gonna be late.”
He poked at the “Venkman” name tag that was peeling off his costume yet again. Stupid local costume shop with its stupid cheap costumes. Next year, he was making his own.
“I want it to go on record,” Claire growled through the door. “I only let you talk me into this because Holtzman is literally the coolest fictional character ever.”
Dean chuckled, then leaned closer to the door to tease, “And because your girlfriend makes a bangin’ Sigourney Weaver.”
The door whipped open and Claire rolled her eyes. “Try not to be a total creeper, Hasselhoff.”
Kaia chuckled from behind Claire, putting in a couple of last pins to hold Claire’s hair back.
“You’re just jealous ‘cause my jumpsuit’s cooler than yours,” Dean snarked, trying to ignore the awesome reflective stripes on Claire’s jumpsuit that reminded him of the ones on a firefighter’s uniform.
Claire rolled her eyes again, then said, with a twinkle in her eye, “I still think you should have gone as Kevin, you give off the perfect himbo vibes.”
“Hey,” Dean spluttered as his mind unhelpfully played him a video of Hemsworth dancing on the roof; the dude was hot. “You give off… himbo vibes… Whatever, shut up.”
Claire and Kaia burst out laughing.
Dean tried to scowl but seeing the two of them so happy had him grinning in response.
“Garth and the kids are getting antsy, how much longer are you gonna need to primp, Miley?” Ha! Burn! Score one for Dean!
“Nice one, very original,” Claire said slowly, as though she were mollifying a child, and reached up to pat him condescendingly on the shoulder.
Almost on a reflex, Dean reached over to ruffle Claire’s hair in the way that drove her absolutely nuts.
Kaia’s hand shot out, knocking Dean’s off course and she growled, “Touch her hair and die.”
Dean froze, every muscle going tight on instinct as he assessed nearby threats. Kaia froze too, her eyes widened slightly.
Dean nodded and slowly backed up a step, holding his hands up non-threateningly as he tried to make his shoulders unclench. He and Kaia got along alright, for the most part. Between his various issues with Dark Kaia and the fact that he’d stupidly pulled a gun on this Kaia right after they’d met, they occasionally hit a rough patch where instinct took over and one of them needed a minute.
There was only so much you could do with that much trauma under the bridge.
Kaia took a deep breath, then nodded. Crisis averted.
She smirked, then asked, her voice only shaking a little bit, “No cowboy boots this time, Walker?”
Claire widened her eyes comically large and said, “Oh damn!”
Dean scowled back. Last Halloween, he and Cas had gone trick-or-treating with the kids as cowboys. Dean had been expecting references to Brokeback Mountain, or maybe some other classic western. Instead, all they’d heard had been references to Walker, Texas Ranger, and not even the Chuck Norris one, all people had been able to talk about was some stupid reboot Dean had never heard of.
It was a bit of a sore spot.
Still, it was a very good barb. Dean grinned at Kaia, held his hands out wide, and said, “No cowboy boots, I’m not so big a himbo that I can’t learn from my mistakes.”
Claire laughed so suddenly that she snorted, which set Kaia and Dean off laughing at her. Claire turned about three shades of red and spent the entire walk down the hallway threatening them both with bodily harm.

To begin with, your Decades of Horror 1970s Grue Crew are universally impressed with the quality in the look and sound of the new Synapse Films Blu-ray release of Creature from Black Lake. In the past, many of the crew had seen the film in a cropped, pan-and-scan version on TV or videotape. They discovered that Creature from Black Lake is an excellent movie that had been marred by the poor quality of many of the prints to which they had access. The Synapse Blu-ray release is a great showcase for Dean Cundy’s cinematography and facilitates a far more enjoyable viewing experience. As far as bigfoot movies of the era, Creature from Black Lake moves to the top among a select few. Synapse did a great service to horror fans in restoring Creature from Black Lake to this pristine, widescreen format.
After gushing over the Synapse Blu-ray, the Grue-Crew gushes equally over the movie itself. A great cast of character actors led by Jack Elam, Dub Taylor, Bill Thuman, Dennis Fimple, and John David Carson, supported by a well-cast group of locals, makes Creature from Black Lake a heck of a fun watch. In fact, they were having so much fun, they forgot to mention that Cathryn Hartt (credited as Catherine McClenny), who played Eve-the-waitress, is Morgan Fairchild’s sister. And be assured, there are plenty of creature shenanigans to supply the tension required in a good bigfoot film.
The crew’s thanks go out to Synapse Films for supplying them with the Blu-ray screeners! The official release date is Tuesday, December 13, 2022. You can purchase your copy at Creature from Black Lake (1080p Blu-ray + Limited Edition Slipcover) – Synapse Films. You know you want it!
Gruesome Magazine’s Decades of Horror 1970s is part of the Decades of Horror two-week rotation with The Classic Era and the 1980s. The Absolute Fuckery that was 15x20
Ok there were a lot of reasons why the final was bad. Like so many fucking reasons. Even without the queerbaiting, this is some of the worst writing I’ve ever seen and here’s a few reasons why:
Destiel
Yes. Big main reason here. They should not have included a confession and have one of the main plots of season 15 be Castiel’s and Dean’s relationship if they didn’t intend to follow through in any way. It shouldn’t have been introduced because the story became disjointed and thematically unsatisfying due to not being addressed in the final in any sort of way. Also, queerbaiting in 2020? Just to get your views up for the last few episodes because they knew Supernatural had become a shit show of bad ratings? Calculated and cruel toward the LGBTQIA+ community who has supported their careers for years.
Saileen
The absolute least they could have done was see this plot point through but they did not. We do not know if Eileen lives and even if they release information that she did, it’s still bullshit because we don’t get to see any part of her story. She has been reduced to a two dimensional character with no agency or purpose. Another woman just meant to prop up the male lead. Bullshit.
The Empty
What the fuck was the point of everything about this plot line if it would just be trashed half way through? Why did Cas make that deal with Ruby? Why did she beg to get out? Why did the Empty accuse Jack of making it loud? I really thought they were going somewhere with this one but they chickened out. There was so much potential for this; the angels and demons being awakened, balance being restored in heaven and hell, a big final show down between them and God. There were so many things just dropped when it came to this and that is why season 15 is absolutely frustrating because it feels like we just wasted our time with useless world building that didn’t amount to anything.
Kevin
I truly did think they’d address this in some sort of way, but the last time we saw Kevin, he was cursed to wander the earth until he became insane because his soul couldn’t ascend to heaven. I was really excited about this because I thought it meant there was going to be some restructuring of the Supernatural universe. The plot would be how the universe Chuck created wasn’t perfect and it had flaws and it was up to Team Free Will to fix some of these gaping holes. They made a point of calling it unfair. It was a wrong that should have been righted in some sort of way in the final.
Benny
This really isn’t just about Benny, it is about the concept of purgatory. A running theme in the show is that good people don’t deserve what happened to them. We see a lot of “good” monsters throughout the show. Characters who helped, sacrificed, and died for the brothers. At the end, they are sent to monster hell or purgatory. There was an episode this season where Sam and Dean killed a teenage boy who had been turned into a vampire. The teenage boy accepted his death because he knew it was for the best. He was afraid of hurting more people and he accepted that it was unfair. They made sure to emphasize how unjust the rules of this universe were and the emotional toll these universal rules took on the boys. Benny’s demise was spoken about briefly and we see Dean very hurt about his death. But the audience is left with the feeling that this is wrong. That the way the Supernatural universe is structured is wrong. Good people get turned into monsters, die, go to purgatory, and then die the ultimate death there. Is this what’s in store for all the “good monster” characters in the show? Garth? His family? They’re werewolves who fight their monster instincts, do they they still deserve purgatory? Did that teenage boy? A gaping hole that I thought the show was going to address in some way. Maybe offer redemption to those in purgatory or have Jack completely wipe away the concept of monsters in the universe. After all, it was just Chuck’s shitty writing, why couldn’t they wipe it clean and just leave people? “Cure” people of the monster and officially give the boys a way out of hunting? No monsters means no hunting. They’d be truly free. I thought this was direction they were going based off the certain episodes and characters discussed. But nope.
Jack
They reduced Jack’s character to plot food and that’s it. His ending was sloppy because it didn’t take into account any of the growth he’s had over the last three seasons. We predicted his ending from season 12 and that’s bad writing. Just. Awful writing. This character had dreams, motivations, relationships, but that all quite literally dissipated. He was used as a magic button that solved all their problems. 15x19 truly showed the lack of thought put into his character. He should not have been a main character if he didn’t have more influence on the plot than simply being a cop-out for having to write a well thought out solution. He was literally just there to snap his fingers and fix all their problems.
Dean
Oh yeah, Dean’s ending was a big fuck you to any character growth this character has had over the last 15 seasons. There is a line in his final 15 minute goodbye monologue where he says they always knew it would end this way. Which, exactly. We always thought it would end this way because it’s so goddamn predictable. It’s shitty writing because it doesn’t try to subvert this. It quite literally says that any growth Dean has had meant nothing because it didn’t change his end. Dean Winchester was always meant to die a young, bloody death. Everything he’s done, everything he’s bled and sacrificed for meant nothing. His prediction came true. It makes the audience wonder why they stuck around for this long ass journey if they knew the ending all along. It isn’t about what this character deserves. We have always known that the hero deserves happiness, but the ending should say something about why the story matters. Why did we see Dean struggle all his life about accepting himself? Loving himself? Seeing himself as someone who deserves to live? It was yet another theme and plot point throughout season 15. It’s what Castiel proclaimed to him in his confession and it is what Dean finally acknowledged by telling Chuck that’s not who he was. Dean Winchester is not a cold blooded killer. Dean Winchester deserved to live. It was beautiful character growth. A wonderful end to him. But they said fuck that when his last words were that he always knew it would end this way. That he always knew he wasn’t meant to live a long life. The writers wanted tears and they got them. I was crying, not because it was a beautiful satisfying death or ending, but because they tore apart 15 years of development for my beloved character. Dean Winchester has shown consistently that he wanted more than hunting, he wanted more than the life he got stuck with. But they didn’t follow through. They just decided to make an emotional ending because that was the coolest broest bro masculine thing to do.
Castiel
Literally everything. Literally fucking everything. Another character that was reduced to plot food. Castiel, the angel who rebelled against heaven and fell for the man he raised from perdition, was not deemed important enough to be in the final. This was the biggest fuck you of all. His story had become so complicated over the last few seasons and his purpose was kinda everywhere but they finally focused it when they had his happiness be Dean. When he said he found his faith when he found a family. When he became a father to someone who would one day save the universe. Castiel lived for the love he learned he was capable of. His ending just made no sense. I guess we’re supposed to assume Jack saved his from the empty but he wasn’t shown. He was not shown greeting Dean, the man he died for over and over again, his happiness. He was not shown being reunited with Jack, his faith. He was not shown enjoying the life he fell from grace for. He was a book with half its pages ripped out. Castiel didn’t get an ending. He got erased.
Sam
That fucking wig.
This is just some of my rambling thoughts I wanted to share will all of you. I have been a fan of this show for so many years. I invested so much time and love into something I’m going to look back on with bitter disappointment. Some of shittiest writing I have ever seen. Thanks for reading and add some more reasons. I know a missed a shit ton.

Ahh B it’s true there isn’t enough content/info on Garth or Kyle Rayner (he is a bae too, Jason Todd can agree 😉) but thank you for doing God’s work because we know full well DC can’t do it 😒
I can’t adopt another character. 🙈 say no more I will take over a character that dc doesn’t use correctly. (It’s probably already too late because I am the dictionary definition of ‘curiosity killed the cat.’) but yeah I just though Garth seemed like the coolest and then I found 3 canon stories, 2 fanfics, and a half eaten license plate to his name and I had to change that. 😂😂😂 like holy unused characters dc.
I do have more Garth stories in my head. Of course one of them is spicy. (It’s me so no surprise lmao) I also like the idea of the rest of the fam learning she’s dating an Atlantean. The fact that he needs water to breathe after a while has some whomp potential too tbh.

Sing (2016) dir. Garth Jennings. 7/10
About a bunch of different animals trying to prove their singing skills in a competition that can help a koala get out of debt.
omg. I can’t with the japanese group. LOL. Same with the car wash.
This lowkey reminds me of how the education system in this world is supposed to help us get a job or how jobs can help raise your social class, but sometimes, that doesn’t happen and we are chasing dreams that aren’t actually attainable.
Digging all these songs.
Rosita’s invention to take care of her family is really something. Damn. Props.
This isn’t good at letting me physically see how old the characters are.
The squid lights are the coolest thing.
This makes me miss LA.
Optimists losing hope is tragic.

10 Masterful Movie Music Moments
One of my favourite, not so guilty pleasures is a musical, so when music moments pop up in otherwise none musical movies, it’s always welcome!
Ex Machina - Oscar Issacs, dancing with a robot! What more is there you could possibly need, piece it together with a recognisable funky tune that is “Get down, Saturday Night” by Oliver Cheatham, (it was remixed in the early noughties, make love and listen to the music). It makes for one memorable scene in a somewhat forgettable film.
Baby Driver - The opening sequence with Ansel Elgort‘s get away driving character dancing and acting out BellBottoms by The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, is divine. The timing is exquisite, and shows off the brilliance of Edgar Wright, the comic genius behind films like Shaun of the Dead. Side note, the entire soundtrack for this movie is perfect.
Wayne’s World - I doubt anyone of a certain age can listen to Bohemian Rhapsody and not head bang along like Garth and Wayne, especially when you’re driving with your very best pals, if you say you can...you’re lying!
Guardians of the Galaxy - Both Guardians films have killer soundtracks, say what you want but music was just better in the 70s and 80s. I’ve chosen a really poignant moment from the second movie for this list though. Father and Son by Cat Stevens, a song that already had a place in my heart is beautifully played whilst Yondu is receiving his heroic funeral, the song resonates as Peter realises Yondu was his father figure. Emotional, brilliance.
Almost Famous -  Singing Elton John’s Tiny Dancer, on a tour bus with a fictional rock band is where I wanted to be when I was growing up, this just seemed like the coolest scenario I could think of, come to think of it...still is.
Napoleon Dynamite - VOTE FOR PEDRO! The dance scene in Napoleon Dynamite is so unexpected, but watching him bust those shapes to Canned Heat by Jamiroquai,  like his life depends on it makes the movie, and is definitely the most memorable part.
My Best Friends Wedding - Aretha Franklin is best enjoyed when it’s sung in part by various actors around a dinner table, look I don’t make the rules. The I Say a Little Prayer scene initiated by Rupert Everett is a couple of minutes of pure joy, the way every one joins in and sings the parts, fab-u-lous! Forever and ever...
Pulp Fiction - Obviously John Travolta is not shy of a dance number or two, and his funky dance at Jack Rabbit Slim’s with Uma Thurman is priceless. The whole scene is classic Tarantino and I dare you not to start doing a twist whenever you hear You never can tell by Chuck Berry, dare you!
13 Going On 30 - Matty Flamhoff being dragged onto the dance floor by Jenna at a real grown up shindig to re-enact MJ’s Thriller dance, in it’s entirety is a master piece and i’ll die on this hill.
500 Days of Summer - Any Hall and Oats song makes any situation a 1000 times better, instantly. You Make My Dreams Come True belting out whilst Tom is overjoyed at getting the girl is the perfect accompaniment, it even has cartoon birds, but it also provides a brilliant contrast to the devastating heartbreak, post split scenes.
Ciao x

So I'm pissed and here's how I would do DC.
(This is kinda based off a post I read on here and just imagine all current stories ended but are still canon.)
Action Comics:
Superman action and team-ups. Two book arcs with teams between older less used heroes.
Clark Kent Superman:
Here's the big story. It's family based. A long story about how important his family is to him now. Conner is there, Kara, Jon, and Lois. They also bring back Chris. The Superman family.
Detective Comics:
Like Action Comics it's a team up. Batman with his family, the GCPD, and many smaller street level heroes that might help with the push. Maybe Robin will be an important character in this.
Bruce Wayne Batman:
Bruce trying to fix his Bane shit. Tom King did his story, messed up the Bat family. Now a new villain or team of older that Batman can't take alone. He slowly regains the trust of his family. Dick and him talk. He apologizes to Jason. Tim gets a hit back. Damian is already okay with him. So on, so forth. They take on the bad guy as a team and we get cute family stuff. They're all reluctant sure, but it's a build up for anything later.
Sensation Comics:
Like action and detective comics. Team-ups with a ton of lesser known female heroes.
Diana Prince Wonder Woman:
Diana is the weirdest member of the Trinity. She's rarely written right but when she is she is an amazing character. This book is all about her legacy, a book with Cassie and Dona. Man Hunter and even a new Wonder Boy? A cute story that's meant to build up her family like Superman or Batman.
The Justice League:
Just kinda... Just kinda keep it up. It's good as it is. It's exploring the universe and helping people.
The Flash:
Barry Allen explores the new forces for an arc. He reintroduces Bart for an arc. New force, character growth. The Flash is good but it's been just Barry Allen. There are more characters out there to use.
Wally West The Flash:
Wally is in his own little world. He's dealing with that event... Bart and him team up to fix it. He finally talks with Linda Parks and they mention the kids. Bart's like. "You've been looking for them?" And disappears. He comes back with them. The rest is just hero stuff.
Green Lantern:
Hal Jordan team up vs space bat guys. Guy is there. Simon gets his story. Other lanterns that aren't humans get a story.
The lanterns:
This is meant to push the other corps. Hope Corgy and a small blue lantern boy. A new pink lantern stealing a ring, he uses it for mischief. A story in the orange lantern field, a big fight. Also a new team of other lanterns. A push to the other lanterns that aren't yellow, red, or green.
Aquaman:
Keep it up, I've been enjoying it. It's pretty good.
Nightwing:
Fresh with his old memories he gets attacked almost right away by a new Talon. They're smaller and have some to most of their memories. Dick wants to help him but at the same time refuses to take him down the same path Bruce did to him. But what if that's the only way?
Jason Todd laws meant to be broken:
So just like with Tim it's revealed Jason Todd lost a shit ton of his pre new 52 memories. He got them back with the end of Doomsday Clock and he's sickened by what he's done. That one sidekick? What? Orange hair? Really? His white streak. Now with the little character developed new him he has to take on his older self with his new friends.
Batgirl
Cassandra, Stephanie, and Barbra do team stuff I their Batgirl costumes. Batwoman helps them.
Young Justice:
Tim Drake just got back to Earth. He and his friends have faced so many versions of themselves. But now it's back to just classic Young Justice. Old characters return, they fight Lobo. Slowbo? Yes! Inertia? Story arc?
The Teen Titans:
Damian disbanded the team after recent events with Slade and Red Arrow. But with the new Titans Tower build it needs to be used, right? So Batman has his newest sidekick Single and Cyborg help find a new team. The new team being Those two, Sideways, Beast Boy, Ravanger, and Jericho.
The Titans:
Dick Grayson is back baby! He finds out his team isn't really in the best place though. Wally is a murderer, Dona and Garth and both drunken messes, Roy is still dead, and no one has heard from the rest. He's going to try to fix that. All while
The Supersons of today!:
Jon is older now, Damian is being a little shit. Oh hey, it's Billy Batson what's he doing? Collin's back too! And a new Wonder Woman kid? 16-year-old FtM trans kid Wonder Boy.
The JSA:
Old WWII stories about older heroes. Jay Garrick, Allen Scott, Wild Cat, and even Wonder Woman? Some nice golden age stories about some nice folks.
The Legion
Legion stuff with the legion. They fight racism, homophobia, and xenophobia. There's not much more to them in this. Sliver age type stories about them going all Captain Planet on some bad guys. They can even get Chris Kent.
The Watchmen
I'm putting this here as a short 6 issue thing just because they're there. It's the Comedian and whoever's left from the old universe trying to pick up what they have left.
These are just ideas I think sound fun. Wonder Woman always deserves more, Batman and Superman get their own books as they do. I would push Wonder Woman a lot more(she is so underused still!) While featuring older heroes with the Trinity as a way to help continuity. I may have placed in OC ideas here and there too. But like, this is just an idea I had. Dick gets a sidekick because the story with that would be so cool. The JSA book with Wonder Woman is kinds pulling with her movie thing and also replacing Superman as the oldest hero.
Dc has so many heroes with suck a large continuity. With old heroes, it's fun to tell the stories. I feel like legacy characters are one of the coolest things they have. Right now, they should not be treating characters like this. It's dumb.

Recommendations #1: Adult fantasy recommendations for beginners Pt 1.
I just recently watched a video by Elliot Brooks. She made a video about how to get into adult fantasy. I’ll link it here And she did give some recommendations but i wanted to give some more. Also i think everyone should go check out her channel. She’s amazing. But lets get into the recommendations.
1) Kings of the Wyld by Nicolas Eames
Tumblr media
Kings of the Wyld follows these old men who used to be part of the biggest merc group in this world but they have since long retired. So one day our main character Clay is approached by his old leader and is asked to help save his daughter. So clay & and the other mercs get together and try to save the girl. I can’t tell you how much i loved this book. Nicholas Eames writing style is very easy to follow. The characters are funny and there is a bit of world building that i think is perfect for beginners.
2) Sabirel by Garth Nix
Tumblr media
Sent to a boarding school in Ancelstierre as a young child, Sabriel has had little experience with the random power of Free Magic or the Dead who refuse to stay dead in the Old Kingdom. But during her final semester, her father, the Abhorsen, goes missing, and Sabriel knows she must enter the Old Kingdom to find him. Now Sabirel is technically a YA Fantasy book but i wanted to put this on the list beacuse i think it’s a great transitional book. It’s very close to adult fantasy. Our main character sabriel is very likeable, smart, brave. I love her. Now there is more world building to this one but it’s still not the most i’ve read in a fantasy book. Lastly i feel the magic system is very easy to follow.
3) Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson
Tumblr media
This is the story of two sisters, who happen to be princesses. Theirs is a world in which those who die in glory return as gods to live confined to a pantheon in Hallandren's capital city. A world transformed by a power based on an essence known as breath. Using magic is arduous as breath can only be collected one unit at a time Warbreaker is probably one of my favorite Brandon Sanderson novels, also one of his easiest to get into. This book is filled with humor and one of the coolest magic systems i’ve ever read. It’s a great way to get into adult fantasy & a great way to get into Brandon Sandersons novels
Okay ya’ll thats it for now. Let me if you want more like this and i will do my best to provide. Send me a message if you have any recommendations and maybe they will get mentioned in the next post. :)

alright, you know what
about two weeks ago maybe by now, i made a post about how i’ve recently hit 200 followers and i’d like to do a q&a again, and even with a reblog from someone more ~*popular*~ than me, and multiple reblogs once a day for a few days by myself, i didn’t get a single fucking question. not one. earlier today i posted two pictures of myself where i felt pretty (i’ve since deleted them) and nobody i actually know of liked it and i got asked by a stranger who doesn’t even follow me if i had any nsfw pictures. i don’t get asks anymore, i don’t get shit. and that tells me that, you may be following me, but you aren’t connecting with me. and i feel that. i get on tumblr and i don’t feel like i’m friends with fucking anybody. and i did that. i know i did that. 9/10 times i let my fear of rejection and embarrassing myself overcome my desire to talk to people, so i don’t do it, or i let it fizzle out and we go our own ways and we don’t become friends. 1/10 times i actually function as a human being and make a connection or at least something that sticks a little.
so here, below the cut, is a comprehensive (loosely) list of things that i like, in no particular order at all, besides tickling, because apparently both sides of this need a little help connecting on any front.
scooby-doo
beetlejuice
the addams family
the sims
the mcu
classic disney animations; my favorites are dumbo, the great mouse detective, the rescuers, sleeping beauty, and oliver and company (it’s old enough that i consider it in the classic category)
~modern disney animations too; my favorites are treasure fucking planet, coco, and... i’m a sap, beauty and the beast. rise of the guardians too even though it isn’t disney.
musicals; i can’t pick a favorite just fucking ask me, but i don’t know a lot of newer ones honestly
empire records
the greatest showman still
cats (i mean the animals but i also like the show even though it is Weird As Hell)
my cat in particular
alice in wonderland
stranger things
space jam
tsum tsums
elvira, mistress of the dark
dice
kiki’s delivery service and specifically jiji things
winnie the pooh i don’t even fucking care i LOVE HIM AND ALL OF HIS FRIENDS
silly hats
playdoh
interesting earrings
exploring libraries or big bookstores
true crime mysteries; my favorite youtuber for this is georgia marie, bless her. i also watch bella fiori and kendall rae
fictional mysteries too
i have a kind of fascination with jack the ripper and with the lizzie borden case
shipwrecks! i don’t know why but shipwrecks fascinate me! why did they go down? all the stories that went with them!
i once read a novel that was told as a series of letters, or journal entries, by people on the titanic, including the iceberg and it was THE absolute saddest book i have ever read in my life. like, obviously i knew what was coming, but i got attached to the characters, the letters made them alive and it was just like... NO. NO I DON’T WANT THEM TO DIE. I KNOW THEY’RE GOING TO BUT THEY CAN’T. and it was awful. i had to put it down and cry.
cryptozoology
the bermuda triangle theories (i’m not saying i believe sOmEtHiNg’S gOiNg On but i think some of the theories are interesting)
ghosts
the nancy drew computer games
monopoly
i still play a lot of my snes games; my go-to time killer and head-clearer honestly is kirby’s avalanche. i also play a lot of super mario rpg legend of the seven stars, super mario world, kirby’s dreamland 3, and donkey kong 2 and 3
final fantasy x in which i’m guaranteed to call almost (i can’t stress that enough) every character at some point “my child”

game grumps
ninja sex party
jacksepticeye
markiplier
monty python
crocheting
tea
harry potter
classic rock. pretty big on queen lately. i like tom petty and the heartbreakers. i like joan jett and the blackhearts.
i just... like rock. across the board. i like the offspring. i like some rage against the machine songs. acdc on the radio makes me happy. def leppard on the radio makes me happy. beartooth, starset, powerman 5000, as long as it’s got a good beat and good stuff going on behind the vocals then i’m gonna be happy. i’m way more into the guitars and the bass and everything going on instrumentally than i am vocally, honestly. the whole big guitar solo to van halen’s “you really got me” and then that bassline that comes in, that bassline is sexy. it’s so simple but i LIKE it.
anyway music as a whole gets me right in the heart and can lift me up when i am at my literal worst point
it’s hard for me to name a favorite or specific bands that i like because there’s so many and i’m not really picky about it.
pop vinyls
good ol’ vines
buffalo wings
mac and cheese
grilled cheese
dr. pepper
i drink a l o t of dr. pepper
pretending i know how to do makeup well
history; i watch a lot of expedition unknown and mysteries at the museum, and sometimes i’ll watch a free documentary on youtube if it catches my attention. last weekend i explained the donner party to my boyfriend. just.. on a whim. because i’d just watched a thing on it and he said he didn’t really know what it was. i’m that person.
OH I SHOULD HAVE MENTIONED THIS BACK AROUND TRUE CRIME BUT I READ A BOOK ABOUT H.H. HOLMES AND HIS MURDER CASTLE AND THE CHICAGO WORLD’S FAIR. it was by erik larson, i believe. larsen? i could google this. devil in the white city. there’s been talks to make it a movie. it’s a good read though i will admit i skipped a lot of the fair parts because i was there for the murder.
i also read a book about the lusitania by the same author and i was like ohhh my goooood what. it got a little boring sometimes, i had to push myself to keep going, but i would read dead wake again.
csi: miami reruns are the greatest thing don’t @ me
dark purple and black aesthetics
just like... witchy aesthetics. those colors and black cats
if you haven’t noticed by any selfies i’ve posted, i do have my lip pierced and i love finding new lip jewelry. i have a new opal stud in and i love its look
leather jackets
combat boots; i have a galaxy print pair and a pair with classic marvel comics stuff printed on the inside and you can fold down the sides to show it. they’re my faves.
owls
drunk history
the first 5 seasons of supernatural and i still have a soft spot for the winchesters and castiel
i’m slowly making my way through watching the librarians
i’m also making my way slowly through watching the magicians
(american) football
nature walks
going to the zoo
going to the aquarium
like really take me to either of the above and i will lose my shit
road trips
savannah, georgia
the smokey mountains
last august i drove by myself from ohio to boone, north carolina for a friend’s wedding and that wedding was smack on a mountain top and it was the coolest thing i think i’ve ever done
roller coasters BUT NOT EXTREME ONES baby steps ok
log rides tho, i don’t know why, i always love the water rides
ren faires!
cosplay, even though i’m not exactly active in it myself (but i want to be; one of my offline friends is an actually-getting-kind-of-internet-famous mei from overwatch cosplayer)
cards against humanity
foosball
pool but i suck at it
speaking of pools i love swimming ... but i suck at it, i just like boppin’ along in a pool
cookouts
summer
there is nothing like being out in the middle of nowhere in summer when the evening starts to fall and the sky is dark, dark blue and there’s a sea of shimmering lightning bugs out over a field. it’s beautiful. it’s peaceful.
there’s nothing like sitting outside on a calm spring night and listening to the spring peepers (they’re frogs) either.
if you couldn’t tell, i live in the middle of nowhere. i have to find enjoyment in the little things.
campfires
dancing around said campfire, you cannot have a campfire without good music. this is when a lot of my classic rock education came to pass.
elephants
my favorite books are the abhorsen trilogy by garth nix, tied with the serpent’s shadow by mercedes lackey
i am trying to get into comic books by way of the youtube channel comicstorian. they break comic books down for you and read them aloud with the images, altered slightly to avoid copyright strikes (and that’s all made very clear, it’s not done sketchily), and it’s been really easy for someone like me who doesn’t just have a comics store close (and i would otherwise continue on as i have been, forgetting to ever look for them on the internet). i listened to injustice 1 and 2, and they covered the game. i’m actively following scooby apocalypse, and there was some teen titans stuff i went all the way through up until now. i don’t think it’s finished yet from what i remember.
i love museums
candles
i actually kind of collect tea sets
i also have a collection of sand art bottles AND IF I’M EVER AT A FESTIVAL OR A FAIR WHERE THERE IS A SAND ART STAND YOU CAN BET I AM GOING TO MAKE ONE
yugioh duels; i’m definitely just a novice and it’s just a fun pastime my friends got me into when they found their giant binders of cards again
i’m not actually that big on pokemon, i don’t know a lot of them but it’s still fun and i know some. but i did love pokemon go when my friends still played it (don’t really have time anymore, and it kept crashing way too badly on one of their phones anymore anytime they tried to join a raid and it just wasn’t fun as a group then)
i don’t have any but i like the ~look of crystals and would like to have some, not for my own aesthetic but i just... like having pretty things!
listening to the rain
how the air smells (at least where i live) after a long rain and everything is just cleansed
depression has stopped me from writing for a long time but, in my heart, writing has always been something that has touched me ever since i knew how to do it and could put my stories down on paper instead of having to just talk about them... so i’m going to include that here
root beer floats
hotdogs
hard dip ice cream (if you don’t know what hard dip means... as my boyfriend didn’t... it means ice cream that you have to use a scoop with, not soft serve)
soft serve’s good too tho don’t get me wrong
strawberry milkshakes
this isn’t even stuff that anyone would need to know on this site to befriend me at this point, nobody’s gonna message me like HEY I READ YOU LIKE STRAWBERRY MILKSHAKES ME FUCKING TOO
you’re cool if you do that lmao
so bad they’re good creature features from the 50s and 60s
the old godzilla movies
i like the moon more than the stars, but i like them too
flower crowns
bouncy balls
original skittles
this has gone on way too long, nobody is reading this, your mom’s a hoe, goodnight
no she’s not, i’m sorry, if you got this far then i hope your mom is a nice person

5. Who is your favorite character (not including TFW)?
bobby or donna probably. oh, and kevin! and jody, eileen, garth...
6. Who is your favorite woman in Supernatural?
donna ♡
7. John or Mary?
mary
8. What were your first opinions of Sam, Dean, Cas, and Jack?
Sam: we like floofy hair boy <3
Dean: love!!!!!!!!!!
Cas: bffie!!
Jack: vv precious
9. What’s your favorite season?
oh dear. uhm probably i really liked 8 or maybe 4?
10. What’s your least favorite season?
9 i think. i binged it but over a long time (which makes no sense i know) so a lot of like 6-9 kinda just blurred together in a lot of ways
11. Opinions on Destiel?
it’s fine!
12. Do you believe Supernatural queerbaits?
the show definitely knows about it and i feel like some of their marketing it destiel geared, yes
13. Seasons 1-7 or 8-14?
1-7
14. Favorite villain (plot wise)?
ruby or like i feel like the empty would be really cool so hopefully we get to see more of that. also dick roman just because he brought us charlie and jody too actually
15. Do you think they should end the Lucifer plot line?
YES PLEASE!!! BURN IT TO THE GROUND!! i’m so sick of nick and lucifer and everything related to it. they’ve run it completely dry and then just kept digging in the hopes that they’d find more water under the sand. im tired, his story is tired. for the love of god just get rid of him already.
16. Who do you think has gone through more trauma (Sam, Dean, or Cas)?
i really like what lindsey wrote about how you cannot compare their traumas because different actions will feel different to all of them (that’s the sparknotes version, here’s what she wrote)
17. What’s your favorite Supernatural episode?
i really like all the fun and clever ones like changing channels, ghostfacers, it’s a terrible life, mint condition. but also baby is definitely a highlight
18. Do you like case episodes?
yes! i feel like the early seasons case episodes were better but i’ll always love them. you can pry case episodes from my cold dean hands
19. Who do you relate most to in TFW?
there’s bits in all of them but dean or cas. i feel like i usually see sam’s point of view/ reasoning the most but for some reason i just don’t see as much of myself in him
20. Why do you like Supernatural?
i super appreciate the brotherly/ family love instead of the romantic arcs that most shows try to pull. supernatural has a bit of romance but it’s waaay toned down and never lasts which means less unnecessary arcs to keep the drama with couples up. idk i also just really love the monster hunting and the perspective the show takes on it. i’m definitely a character driven person and somehow these guys just weaseled their way in and i want to watch their story and make sure they’re happy (or as happy as they guys can be)
21. If you could bring back one character and kill off another who would they be?
ahhhhhh nick is dead for sure and i’d bring back eileen (with kev as a close second)
Tagging: @brxcebnner , @idjit , @celestialdean , @dkrushnic , @hhoneycas , @asexualcas , and @ddean

The Army Is Sorry for Comparing Itself to Super Villains
The XVIII Airborne Corps tweeted an image to celebrate esprit de corps Monday: “Who has the Army’s coolest patch? You decide,” the Tweet said. “Every day during this week we’ll showcase 4 unit patches. At 8PM EDT every night, we’ll let you vote on the coolest patch [and you know this account loves Twitter polls]. Each night’s winner will move forward to Saturday’s final vote!” Below was a picture of the villainous superheroes from The Boys with various unit patches superimposed on their heads.
Tumblr media
XVIII Airborne Corps Twitter account.
The Boys is an ultra-violent parody of American exceptionalism and superhero-dominated pop culture. Its creator Garth Ennis actively hates superheroes and has written multiple comic books exploring this hatred. The XVIII Airborne Corps used the image of the show and comic book’s most reprehensible characters—The Seven. These characters are explicitly villains. They are racists who deal drugs, murder, and sexually assault normal people, and lord their abilties over anyone they can.
After the Tweet went out, the U.S. Army’s primary account retweeted it. “Who has the Army’s coolest patch?,” it said. “YOU decide.”
The XVIII Airborne Corps deleted the tweet and reached out to journalist Kelsey Atherton, who had noticed how weird it was that the XVIII Airborne was embracing the super villains. “We humbly apologize about that, sir. Bit of a mix up with that graphic,” XVIII Airborne Corps said in a DM to Atherton which he showed to Motherboard. “We really mean no offense by that at all.”
Tumblr media
The XVIII Airborne apologizing for its bad post. Kelsey Atherton DM.
The XVIII Airborne Corps has not returned Motherboard’s request for comment.
The American military has a long history of embracing the aesthetics of super villainous pop culture power. Darth Vader and Stormtroopers attended a Space Force swearing in ceremony in May. The Pentagon’s various websites are littered with photographs of soldiers, sailors, and Marines decked out as Star Wars villains. It sees itself as a force for good in the world, but the U.S. Military has committed numerous atrocities. The firebombing of Japan during World War II, the My Lai massacre in Vietnam, and the torture of prisoners in Abu Ghraib prison during the second invasion of Iraq are just some of the highlights.
It should worry us that the people in charge of the military so readily identify with the villains in our pop culture. It’s also wild that no one caught this before it went out. The Pentagon is famously slow to act online. Twitter accounts come with hefty manuals detailing how they should be used. The deployment of a meme on a DoD Cyber Command account required a 20-page report before posting.

Imagine: Being Sam Winchester’s daughter and finding out that you’re a witch when you get your Hogwarts acceptance letter.
Request: Anonymous said, “Hi! Can you please do a crossover imagine between supernatural and Harry Potter? Where reader is one of the character son/daughter (or sibling, it’s up to you!)and getting a letter from hogwarts and joining the golden trio? I love your blog BTW! ❤️”
A/N: You can’t possibly expect me to do an AU Harry Potter imagine without including a little bit of Wolfstar ;)
“Since when do we get mail?” Dean asks Sam as he walks into the library of the bunker with an envelope in his hand. Not many people knew about the bunker, so they never got mail.
“It’s addressed to Y/N,” Sam says, confused, before calling you.
You run out of your bedroom to the library, “Yes dad?”
Sam hands you the envelope, “I don’t know what it is sweetheart, but it’s for you.”
Eleven years ago, Sam had gotten into a relationship with a girl he had met on a hunt. A few months into their relationship, they discovered she was pregnant. Your mother had taken care of you for the first two years of your life, but when she was killed by a demon, Sam decided to take care of you. You spent a majority of your life being babysat by Bobby, Garth, Kevin, Charlie, and whoever else you dad could find.
You take the envelope and carefully opening, reading aloud, “Dear Ms. Winchester, we are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment. Term begins on 1 September. We await your owl by no later than 31 July. Yours sincerely, Minerva McGonagall.”
Sam and Dean exchange a worried look with each other, “Dad? What is this?”
“Y/N,” He kneels down next to you, “From the day we met you, we thought you were differ-er-special-”
“I’m a witch...?” You ask, your entire body fills with horror and you take an involuntary step away from your dad and uncle.
Sam looks confused but Dean instantly realizes your concern, “Y/N, you don’t need to worry kiddo! You know we’d never hurt you!”
“There’s two types of witches Y/N,” Sam explains, “The evil ones that we hunt, and the ones who are born as magical beings.”
“And I’m a magical one?” They both nod in response, “So I’m going to this school?”
“I guess so,” Sam smiles, slightly relived that they wouldn’t have to worry about leaving you behind during hunts anymore.
You’re standing at King’s Cross Station with your dad and uncle, confused as to where Platform 9 ¾ is. You are suddenly approached by a boy with messy black hair and broken, round glasses, “Um...do you know where Platform 9 ¾ is?”
“We were actually looking for the same thing,” You respond.
You and the boy -Harry- spend a few more minutes searching, when finally a kind looking woman with many kids decides to help you. She tells you to run through the brick wall, and Sam and Dean exchange a worried look, “Oh don’t worry! Muggles with magical family members can cross too!”
“Muggle?” Sam asks.
“Non-magical humans,” She explains, “Are you two her dads?”
“N-no!” Dean looks disgusts, “He’s her dad, I’m her uncle.”
“Oh,” She laughs, “Well come along!”
You finally get to the platform and eventually say a teary goodbye to your dad and uncle, and make your way towards the train. As you’re walking you just hear Dean call out, “STAY AWAY FROM THE BOYS Y/N!”
You turn to roll your eyes at him and laugh at the sight of your dad punching his brother in the shoulder and awkwardly waving at you.
*** Three-years later... ***
You make your way into the train compartment with your best friends, Harry, Ron, and Hermione. You had just finished your third year at Hogwarts and you were on the train ride back home.
Dean and Sam were still on a hunt so the Weasleys’ offered to let you stay with them for the first week of summer and you were super excited.
The week flew by and Mrs. Weasley thought it would be a great idea to invite Sam and Dean, Harry’s family, and Hermione’s family over for dinner.
Harry came with Professor Lupin and Sirius, who were all living together now that Peter Pettigrew had been given the Dementor’s Kiss. Hermione’s parents couldn’t make it because of work, but they happily dropped her off. Finally, Sam and Dean showed up, clearly a bit worn out from the hunt.
You rushed past everyone and hug Sam, “Dad! I missed you so much!”
“I missed you too sweetheart,” He smiles, placing a kiss on your forehead.
You pull away from him and jump into Dean’s arm, “Uncle Dean!”
He chuckles, “Hey kiddo!”
Eventually, you all settle down at the dinner table. Sam and Dean were clearly on edge seeing that they were the only Muggles there. The adults were telling stories about their days at Hogwarts, and everyone -expect your confused father and uncle- were listening intently.
“You know Remus, I would have never guessed you were the way you are,” Molly says, then quickly adds, “Not that it changes anything of course.”
Red blush creeps up Remus’ neck, the twins pick up on this and Fred quickly says, “You know Professor Lupin, while you taught us, we thought you were the coolest, but honestly, this makes you even cooler -truly badass!”
“What is it that makes him badass?” Dean asks -as usually his mouth is full of food. This isn’t good...
Remus gives Sirius an awkward glance, not wanting to say it himself. Oh God...someone change the subject. Sirius speaks up, “He’s a werewolf.”
Sam and Dean visibly stiffen; Dean’s hand habitually goes to the gun he has hidden under his jacket. You kick him under the table, “But unlike most werewolves, Professor Lupin has never hurt anyone. He has it under control actually.”
Sam gives you a worried glance and you shoot him a reassuring smiling.
They both approach you after dinner while you’re talking to Hermione and Ginny about crushes, “Hey girls, mind if we borrow Y/N for a second?”
“Of course Mr. Winchester,” Hermione smiles.
You follow the two of them to the empty hallway, “Y/N, wizards and witches are one thing, but a werewolf?! You should have called us the moment you found out!”
“Relax dad, Professor Lupin is honestly one of the kindest people I’ve ever met,” You explain, the both clearly don’t believe you, “Look, I’m a Winchester, I was raised by some of the best hunters in the world. I know a monster when I see one. If you really want to hunt someone, you should try to track down Fenrir Greyback.”
“Who?” Dean asks.
You wave him away, “Long story, I’ll explain later.”
“But trust me, Remus Lupin is a kind man who -despite being a werewolf- has a family who loves him, so please remember that before you do anything,” You explain, “Besides, if you even lay a finger on him, Sirius Black will hex you into oblivion.”
“Y/N, it’s still not safe-”
“Uncle Dean, you’ve let Uncle Garth babysit me for years and he’s a werewolf!” You say exasperatedly.
“Fine,” Sam sighs, “But if anything happens, you have to tell us Y/N.”
“Of course Dad!” You smile, before getting an idea, you gasp and take both their hands, “Actually! Professor Lupin knows a lot about dark arts and monsters, he’s knows a lot of potions that could help you during hunts!”
You drag them into the living area and give them both a push, “Now go socialize!”
They hesitantly join the conversation and you smile victoriously before heading outside to join your friends for a Quidditch match.
The End.

I tip my hat to Austin for having the nerve to tackle these kinda things.
29: Least favorite thing about the series: the Bs with having all of the fish villages and garbage island be so missable with that small hole that the bike always jumps over, I would have liked it better if the map to garbage island and the drink to give to carp was found some were else then all clumped together.
30. “ ______” did nothing wrong:  Rando did nothing wrong.
