Arlecchino’s story quest just revealed how old Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet are. (Spoiler kinda)

Tl;Dr: late 20s

“I wish Genshin would give us solid numbers for character ages!” Sometimes they do. And those numbers give us ages of other characters too, if you pay attention. And yeah, I know the Genshin community doesn’t like to read, but you don’t even have to do much reading for this.

And let me preface this. When you go through this much work to “justify” characters being adults some people will say it’s just “an excuse to sexualize minors”. No. This isn’t even about that.

This is about me being absolutely sick and tired with the teenagers with careers trope.

First of all, what we know:

Childe is the YOUNGEST of the Fatui Harbingers.

Childe woke up the whale when he was 14 years old, and that was 20 years ago. He is 34 years old.

Arlecchino became the Knave at 17 years old.

The Hearth siblings came to the house within a few months of Arlecchino gaining control.

Lyney and Lynette met a magician named Caesar who over 10 days, helped them hone their stage magic skills

Caesar died 10 years ago.

Toddlers can’t do street magic.

Honestly the last couple of points aren’t even needed, but they’re helpful to solidify this number. You’ll see.

Let’s do some basic Arlecchino math first.

Again, she’s canonically older than 34, but if you want her and the siblings to be as young as absolutely possible, we can start there. (Maybe she’s a few months older than Childe. Idk)

34-17=17

Absolute bare minimum, Arlecchino has been the knave, and the siblings have been in the house for 17 years.

And quite frankly, I don’t think the “kids” were embryos when they joined.

But now that we have a minimum, let’s get a maximum to cover our bases. I’m going to use the serial disappearances as a marker here, because given what we know about her she would definitely look into that sort of thing. So she can’t be much older than 37.

So, when did the siblings join the house?

First of all, let’s get a few facts from earlier involved. Cesar died 10 years ago. That means he died while they had already been in the house for 7-10 years (depending on Arlecchino’s age.)

And a widely overlooked fact that personally I think needs to be taken into account more often, is that TODDLERS CANT DO STREET MAGIC.

But I get it, this is an anime game. And for some crazy reason some fans are convinced that characters should be as young as they can possibly be.

So let’s be just, the most generous that I could possibly be here and say those kids right there are 6 years old (anime 6 year olds don’t act like real 6 year olds so I’ll give you that), and it’s been an EVENTFUL couple of months worth of mastering street magic, trauma, and joining the House of the Hearth.

6+7=13 13+10=23

So the absolute bare minimum you are being silly at this point age for the siblings is 23, and depending on how old you think Arlecchino is, up to 26.

Personally, I feel like Freminet can help us out here, but we’ll have to apply just a teensy tiny bit of real world logic if we want to get anywhere. So,

How old was Freminet when he was sent to the house?

Freminet was very close with his mother, he was incredibly skilled at fixing and building things, to the point where he would help bring in money for the family for a few years before he was dropped off at the house with the old Knave where he’d notice other children with depression who he’d seen kill themselves.

Now I ask you, does that sound like a toddler? If you’re going to look me in my eyes and try saying he was sent to the house at 5 or 6, when the earliest of memories are being DEVELOPED, you’re not just silly, you are high. There’s really only so much disbelief I can suspend here.

Let’s be generous and say he was 8 years old. You can still have your over developed anime 6 year old, but at least it gives a few years for him to have been tinkering and making happy little memories before the trauma.

Again, using the youngest possible Arlecchino age,

8+17=25

So baby brother Freminet is bare minimum 25 years old.

In conclusion, let’s use those concrete numbers here to make an age range for the House of Hearth siblings. (I could absolutely give you my personal head canon timeline, yes. Will I? Maybe if you ask nice. But this is about cold hard numbers)

You’re absolutely fucking kidding yourself here ages: 22 for Freminet and 23 for the twins.

Low end: 25 for Freminet and 26 for the twins.

Reasonable maximum (the oldest I think they could be in the flashback is 13) 32 for Freminet and 33 for the twins!!

The Ink Demonth 2023 - Day 6. Machine

Day 6. Machine Crossover: Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? (and later series) "Scooby-Dooby-Doo, where are you? We got some work to do now. Scooby-Dooby-Doo, where are you? We need some help from you now." I cannot wait for the scene when they take Sammy's mask off :3 I'd watch an episode like that. Btw. in case anyone is wondering, Shaggy checks whether bacon soups are 20 or 50 years after expired, because it depends on whether he decides to heat them before eating or not :D

Am I a fan of Scooby-Doo? Well... yes and no. As a little kid, I loved the show, I even had VHS tapes of the episodes... But then my lil brother got hooked on it and watched it so obsessively that I hated the whole show (especially since his favourite was that damn Scrapy-Doo, so he was tormenting me episodes with him, and Scooby-Doom, the other son of the b*ch, which I hate). However, I still enjoyed the full-length movies, and to this day I still enjoy watching some of them (for example: "Scooby-Doo! and the Reluctant Werewolf" or "Scooby-Doo! in Where's My Mummy?..." by the way, the former was made in the year of my birth, so he's older than me, yay!) But then came the era of weird Scooby-Doo series that delighted me again and stole my heart, like "Shaggy & Scooby-Doo Get a Clue!", "Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated" or crazy one  "Be Cool, Scooby-Doo!" (I love self-ironical, self-parodying shows). So... yeah, I guess I'm a Scooby Doo fan now. What's more, I will now say something that will probably make some people hate me: I like the "scandalous" show "Velma". Uuuu! Everyone will stop following me now, what a drama.

I have to admit that I had fun - although it was probably one of the most difficult Ink Demonths so far (counting the future ones I've already drawn). Scooby-Doo is damn hard to draw, because he has very caricatured features while having quite a dog's build, and when broken down into simple shapes, he's... just plain ugly to draw. Shaggy was a bit of a challenge, but it was a real pleasure to draw Velma. By the way, these two are my favourite characters - and I ship them in their youth (in their mature life, I prefer Shaggy with that cool alien from one of the movies). I used, of course, the background from BATIM - and choosing the right one and then framing it the best took me a lot of time and frustration too. I originally wanted a setting from the first chapter, but nothing looked right with the characters on it. I finally made it to the second chapter - and I think it turned out really nice. However, I am extremely proud of how cans turned out, the expiration date of which is checked by Shaggy.

If anyone doesn't understand why this entry is for "machine" theme, let me remind you that the Gang drove a cool, colourful van called... that's right! The Mystery Machine! If you didn't know that, you can't consider yourself a Scooby-Doo fan :D

MD: We send you our condolences on behalf of Mundo Deportivo for the death of your grandfather. How are you feeling?

CS: "Thank you very much. I am well. I was lucky enough to be able to make the most of him until he was 97 years old, in fact he died just the day after his 97th birthday. MD: Is there anything that has inspired you from your grandfather to face your day-to-day life as a pilot?

CS: "Not as a pilot, but as a person he certainly inspired me. He was a person who didn't have it easy from an early age. He was left without a father at the age of 14, he had to take care of his whole family by himself and he was a successful man, above all, and he did whatever he wanted, without ever taking into account what others might think, something that I think in today's world with social media you are always a bit worried about what they will say and what they will think of me. He was always a person who followed his path and did what he wanted, with very good values, but always doing what he thought was right and moving forward."

MD: Do you think you can dedicate a victory to him this season?

CS: "Yes, if I win this year, I'll dedicate it to him, for sure. And if I don't, I'll dedicate a podium to him, which would be a good result."

MD: How are you facing the weekend in Hungary?

CS: "We've made a step forward, but behind Verstappen it's a very close battle. It depends a lot on the tracks and we have to be aware that there will be better and worse weekends. We hope to find good conditions here."

MD: What is your assessment of the start of the year?

CS: "You always have to put it in perspective. In terms of results, it was not great, with a lot of fourth, fifth and sixth places. I think we all expected a little bit more, including me. But if I look at the detail of how much I've got out of the car, I don't think I'm having a bad year. I think I'm driving well, I'm qualifying well, I'm having good races, good races, again, from less to more. Maybe the results don't quite reflect it, but it's been a bit of a strange year in that respect."

MD: Max Verstappen, who wins everything with Red Bull, would not win with the current Ferrari either.

CS: "Well, if Charles and I were driving the Red Bull and we didn't let him win like he doesn't let us, it would be like that. But I don't like to compare because you will never know. But it is very well known that nowadays in F1 the car is very important."

MD: The Maranello factory worked against the clock to deliver several evolution packages quickly, weeks ahead of schedule. What is it like to see that work from the inside?

CS: "It's a spectacular thing. To see a factory the size of Ferrari, with its ability to react, to work day and night to get parts out, to get things done, is one of the most beautiful and most special things you can see in F1. Especially when you spend days in the factory. I'm very involved, I see it and I have the opportunity to go and say hello to all the workers very often and thank them, because they are the ones who make the difference in the end."

MD: How many hours can you spend in the factory?

CS: "On average I spend one or two days a week at the factory. About 6 hours each of those days, more or less. That's on the weeks when I don't have a race, obviously. When you have a race you lower the intensity a bit in that respect. Or the week before the race I spend a day or a day and a half. I go to the simulator for half a day or three quarters of that day. I spend another half day in meetings with engineers and then another half day I go and say hello to some department, say hello to people that you might not have the chance to see if you don't go to the factory."

MD: How do you feel at Ferrari?

CS: "I honestly feel that I'm at the ideal time in my career to be a Ferrari driver, because I'm looking forward to it. It's an intense place to be, because you have a lot of things to take care of, you have a lot of responsibilities, you race for the Ferrari team, which I think says it all, and you have to have a lot of desire. You have to be 100% dedicated to F1 and to the team and I am in that moment between maturity and youth to take advantage of being at Ferrari."

MD: Every driver is a person… Do criticisms and rumours, which must always be experienced more intensely by Ferrari drivers, become exhausting?

CS: "They could be exhausting, but not for me. If you're not at 100% like I am, or you're at the beginning or end of your career, they could wear you down. I'm not going to deny it. But I'm so 100% and so happy to be at Ferrari that the noise doesn't exhaust me or affect me because I don't let it."

MD: If you are so happy at Ferrari and feels so loved, I must ask if you want to continue at Ferrari beyond the end of your current contract, which runs until the end of 2024.

CS: "My priority, of course, is to continue at Ferrari. I don't see any better place in F1 right now than a team like Ferrari, which has the ambition to win again. I want to win another race as soon as possible and, if possible, fight for a World Championship. And since we both share the same objective, if that team is Ferrari, then I don't see why I shouldn't continue. But I have said it many times: I always like to go into the last season of my contract knowing where I am going to race the following year and that will be my intention this year." He added, "It also depends on the contract (laughing)"

MD: What does it depend on?

CS: "To come to an agreement. It's like always in life. You both have to agree to shake hands and sign a contract, and if you don't agree on anything, you talk about it. You know that I will always do my part, everything I can to stay in a team like Ferrari."

MD: Are you calm and confident that an agreement will be reached?

CS: "I am not worried. I have set a date for myself, the winter of this year, to try to find out what is going to happen to me, but I will think about it more at the end of the season, what I would and wouldn't be worth to be here and what I can continue to offer Ferrari? I'm just very focused on the season. Now, also, in the middle of the season… maybe in the summer I think a little bit because you have a three-week break and you think about things. But now, between races, you don't have time to stop and think about it."

MD: Last year you said that the Ferrari car had to be driven very aggressively and it was difficult for you to adapt. How is it this year?

CS: "Honestly, the car is very similar to last year's car to drive. The driving style is exactly the same. I've just made the effort to adapt to it and drive it a bit better, and above all I've made the effort to learn the set-up and see what things with this car can help me to go faster. But above all, the biggest effort has been both driving and getting to know the car. It's true that this year's car, in relation to the others, is not so competitive, but in the end, it's a car that is very similar to last year's, or almost the same."

MD: Is the goal of being a champion with Ferrari still intact?

my hcs for steve’s parents vary wildly depending on the au and my mood lmao. but right now, this is what i’m feeling:

in most of my au’s, mrs h (hereafter referred to as diane, my name for her) comes from old money. her family has been wealthy a long time, and she’s famous in some small way. model, small acting roles that kind of thing. she’s know for her charm and looks and willingness to throw away her families money.

mr h (hereafter referred to as dick because i named him richard and i think it’s funny) comes from small town indiana, hawkins. he’s been working for years to build his families business (i lean towards some kind of real estate job). he’s out, he’s networking, and he meets diane. they’re both in their 20s (though sometimes i do love the idea of diane being a former secretary of dick’s and a lot younger. again, a lot of my hcs depend on my mood). anyway, it’s a whirlwind romance.

diane (and her families money) helps to build the harrington family business. she’s smart, and savvy, and underestimated. she’s also, just, exciting. and that’s what dick’s attracted to. this thrill. that she seems to take up all the space in a room.

for a boy from a nothing town, she’s… everything.

they marry fast, but steve doesn’t come for, like, another decade.

he’s a… surprise. they planned on kids, one day, but they like their freedom. the ability to do anything, relying on no one. but dick wants a son, someone to pass the family business onto one day, and diane likes the idea of children, of someone loving her unconditionally.

she wanted a girl, dick wanted a son, and diane is kinda devastated when steve turns out to be a boy. his nursery is bright pink for a few years, diane puts him in girls clothes when dick isn’t there to tell her off. she even does a few modelling jobs with him. he’s adorable. he’s a cute little baby.

but he changes her life. in a way she doesn’t exactly like.

steve doesn’t affect dick much, but suddenly they aren’t travelling, she doesn’t get to come into the office as much, she’s stuck at home looking after steve. and diane really struggles with that. sometimes i hc that she struggles with ppd. she has a hard time connecting to steve, and yet at the same time, when he’s a baby, it’s easy. he’s easy. he’s not really a person yet. it gets so much harder when he isn’t just… an accessory. part of her perfect wife life.

now, the cheating reveal is very fun, and the most consistent part of all my au’s. steve’s the one to discover it. he’s around 6-ish. comes home from a day out with grandpa, walks into his dads office and finds him…. closely cuddling a young, blonde secretary.

dick swears steve to secrecy, but steve, precious little mummies boy that he is, breaks his silence almost the second he sees diane.

she. flips. out. she’s been stuck as home, looking after steve while dick gets his dick wet? by the time he gets home that day, half of his stuff is on the lawn. wedding presents smashed, his favourite watch trodden on. diane doesn’t do things by half. she even gets steve involved. gives him a pair of scissors and tells him to go crazy with his dads ties.

dick is able to get her to soften eventually, but it forever changes the family dynamic. diane doesn’t trust dick anymore, dick blames steve for telling diane, and in a way diane kind of resents steve for telling her. she could’ve lived in ignorance. but steve is also the only person that still wholeheartedly loves her.

i think this is the point where she starts emotionally relying on steve, and becoming more of a “boy mom”, because she no longer fully trusts her husband to fulfil those emotional needs. it’s a lot of “you would never cheat, would you steve? you’re a good boy. you’re nothing like your good for nothing father.”

around the same time, dick’s parents get ill. they need more support, and with the cheating, diane is happy to usher dick away from the temptations bigger cities have to offer and back into small town hawkins.

he still has to travel back for work, diane doesn’t trust him. they both hate living in hawkins. and years down the line, we reach canon territory. a diane that follows dick whenever he leaves town, and a steve that goes insane at the very idea of cheating.

very fun.

now, the love is where it gets complicated lmao.

depending on the au obviously, but i do think they still kinda love each other, or at least, have love for one another. it’s how dick is always able to win diane round, it’s why dick doesn’t just divorce her. but they’re both pretty toxic people, i suppose, and that flows back into their marriage. but they still want to be who they were at the beginning of their marriage, their best selves, and that keeps some affection for the other within them. they both wish they could be those wild and free kids again. who had the whole world in the palm of their hands.

i do kinda think that once steve leaves that house though, they will divorce. yeah, every once in a while they’ll hit each other up and have an insane affair. maybe they even get remarried and divorced again. but eventually they have to stop living in the past, and move on.

(btw, i am always happy to talk about steve’s parents. they make me go insane lmao. esp diane. i mean, literally one of the reasons behind me writing saint stephen is because in all these “steve dies” au’s, his parents are never around!! i LOVE thinking about how steve’s death would fuck them up)

thinking about that talk with @murmel-malt about how george's ages for these kids in F&B is just... a mess. Like we know George keeps his characters young (Look at... 90% of the cast of ASOIAF being like, 20 and under or what have you) and now I'm on a distraction rabbit hole of how do differently?

Which basically boils down to extending Viserys' reign, and then putting larger age gaps between Rhaenyra's children specifically.

But I thought: Okay, let's break this down side by side for everyone else who is staring at these ages in show vs book canon and trying to make sense of it. I want you to know that you're not alone in this, and I hope this could be a helpful resource for making your own narrative decisions.

TL;DR - the show time jumps do not track and make no sense and has weirdly aged people down and also up and so you make your own decisions. I've put my age recommendations at the bottom of the post.

We know Vizzy doesn't care about the health of his wife, since good lord we know what happened to Aemma and the text specifically states it was not only how young she was when she first started getting pregnant, but also the frequency she was getting pregnant/stillbirths. Like that took a toll. Luckily for Book!Alicent, she was 19/20 when she started having children, and could handle that better

We have two years between Aegon and Helaena, and then 1-2 years between Helaena and Aemond depending on when Aemond was born, and then four years between Aemond and Daeron

With Rhaenyra, we have:

Jace was born at the end of 114 (Rhaenyra is 17, and Jace is the same age as Daeron), Luke is specified as late 115, which... doesn't make sense? Like TECHNICALLY, you could get pregnant as early as three weeks after giving birth (I googled a... lot for this) but like really?

(ETA: I'm not saying this doesn't happen, we have it seeming to happen with Aemond and Helaena, it's the same with Bran and Arya, but as I address below, It doesn't seem to fit with Rhaenyra's character)

Westeros has a 12 month calendar. Jace is a december Baby, which means late 115 means... Oct/Nov/December, which means Rhaenyra was pregnant by February with her second kid.

then Joffrey is born in 117, however it doesn't specify what time of year. We just know that when Aemond loses his eye, Joffrey is 3.

Aegon III is born towards the end of 120 (again, Oct/Nov/Dec). We know that Daemon and Rhaenyra married in 120, not even six months after the death of Laena and Laenor, who died early 120 and Laenor not long after. so with this, like, is Aegon a wedding night baby? Had Daemon and Rhaenyra started boning before they married? (I mean, likely). Then Viserys II is born in 122, then we have a seven year gap before Rhaenyra's birth of Visenya.

Like, I'm sorry, but you want me to believe that Rhaenyra Targaryen who watched her mother have miscarriage after stillbirth for the first 10 years of her life wasn't gonna be more careful about this? Like George, just because we didn't have condoms and birth control pills doesn't mean that there wasn't some kind of bc was used (and there's evidence of that in our real world).

(and like I was saying to Mo: I mean at the end of the day, these ages don't matter, since 78% of these kids died and yes I calculated that percentage, and he wasn't thinking about people digging into the age things because at the end of the day, that doesn't matter for the story he's telling)

Which then brings us to the fuzzy show logic:

The Time Jumps As Follows:

Episodes 1-2: over the course of 6 months.

Episode 3: Two Year Time Jump from previous

Episode 4: No time jump specified but Alicent's given birth. Did Rhaenyra only go to Storm's End? In the book she traveled all the way to Casterly Rock.

No time jump is specified from what I could find for Rhaenyra's wedding but to get everyone there for Rhaenyra's wedding, to put together a royal wedding, you need 6 months at least. Given how big baby!Helaena is, we're looking at a 6-10 month time jump. And I'm sorry but by ship, it's taking like, two-three days to sail from KL to Driftmark, and then you have negotiations that last more than a single conversation. So I feel safe in assuming the 6-10 month time jump between Rhaenyra's return/daemon thing to the wedding. (HOWEVER, everything I found claims there's no time jump, but that's literally impossible because people need time to travel to King's Landing as it takes at least two months from Casterly Rock/Oldtown to get to KL)

Aegon is the child we have confirmation for on his age. He is 3 years old when Rhaenyra is married. We know that Helaena, on the show, is exactly two years younger since Alicent is clearly popping any day on Aegon's 2nd birthday.

The Ten Year Time Jump

Aegon - 13

Helaena - 11

Aemond - 10

Jace - ??? Book canon states he's 4 years younger than Aemond, but there's no way Jace is 6 years old.

Luke - 4 years old. AGAIN, there's no way. I cannot confirm an age for the actor (who did a fantastic job) but he's definitely closer to 5 or 6.

Joffrey - NEWBORN vs being 3 years old at the time.

The Six Year Time Jump

Aegon - 19

Helaena - 17

Aemond - 16?????

Jace - ?????

Luke - 14 years old which makes him 8 years old during Driftmark (Luke's age was confirmed as 14 at the end, he was 13 in the book)

Joffrey - 6 years old

In the book: Aemond is 19 years old when Viserys dies, which should make him 19 years old for the final time jump. But instead Aegon is 19/20 years old.

SO HERE IS MY ADJUSTED SUGGESTION

It's just my suggestion, just my opinion, because again, none of this makes sense.

I DID MATH TO TRY TO GUESS HOW OLD ARE THE MAIN 6 AND HOW THE TIMELINE WORKS

Soooo, I already made a post explaining my toughts about Julian's and Lucio's age, and I said I wanted to make another post explaining my guesses for the rest of the cast, so here I am. (WARNING: THERE ARE SOME MINOR SPOILERS!! And this is going to be looong, so if you want to jump to the conclusions go ahead).

I recommend reading at least a part of the other post, since it has important info that I won't be explaining here, but to sum up what I think it's the most important fact: Many people believe that Lucio loosing his arm and Asra's parents being imprisioned happened 20 years ago, but I think the game gives us enough hints to know that that “roughly 20 years ago” actually means 17 or 18 years ago. So, my guesses are made having that in mind.

Please, have in mind that, since there are no canon ages, there is no way to know who is right or who is wrong, all we can do is try to guess, but I think we can all agree that the game has some inconsistencies with the timeline and that, at the end of the day, everyone can have their own headcanons, so it's okay if we disagree. And, also, english is not my first language, so I'm sorry if I wrote anything wrong!!

I'm going to start from the youngest to oldest (Asra-Portia-Muriel-Julian-Lucio-Nadia) and mark in blue the facts that are canon:

Asra

• We know he became an orphan when we has a kid. The game says it was roughly 20 years ago, I already explained on my other post why I think it's practically canon that the exact date is 17/18 years ago, so Im not going to repeat myself.

• He met Muriel 17 years ago.

• He met the apprentice 9 years ago.

• He revived them 3 years ago

• We know he had a thing with Julian before the whole revival thing. If the apprentice died 3 years ago and they were brought back from dead less than a year after, then that had to happen 3 years ago too.

• We do not know exactly how old was he when he met Muriel, but my guess is that he had to be between 6-10, maybe 11, but I would not put him as more than that because I honestly think he looks too young and too short for a 12 year old kid. It's true malnutrition could have been a problem on his growth, but he ended up being of average height and Muriel, who was also homeless, ended up being over 2 meters tall so... I do not think it really stoped them?

• This is gonna sound so dumb but I tried to calculate how tall he was when he was a kid lol (yes, I was very frustrated, yes, I needed help). I used this image they posted as a reference to see how tall they were besides each other, and my guess is that he's around 1'20 meters, which is a normal height for a kid that young, maybe a bit short but not too much (btw, I know Lucio's height is 1'77, but I added 8 cm more because he wears heels).

So, having all that in mind, I'd say Asra is between 24-28 years old. I personally can't see him as older than 28 because as I said I think he was too young on his tale, but it all depends on how you see it, of course.

According to my guess, that would mean he was 6-11 when he lost his parents (which I think it makes sense, since he as an adult is able to remember that Lucio imprisioned them, and it's pretty normal to be able to remember things from that age) 15-19 when he met the apprentice (so, it was a young love, maybe his first one, and that would explain why he was so attached), 21-25 when he had a thing with Julian (to make sure he was an adult) and that same age when the whole revival thing happened (and I personally think it makes sense that he was so young when he made shuch a desesperate decision).

Portia

•We know there is a big age gap between her and Julian:

-She can't remember the shipwreck, Julian does

-She was still a kid when Julian left to become a doctor

-She seems to remember him, but vaguely

•She started working on the palace one year ago

•Since she can't remember loosing her parents, I think it's safe to assume she was still a baby

•I honestly do not remember much from Portia's route, but if I recall correctly, there's this paid option that lets you help her remember a lost memory. I personally see her very very young, and it has to be a memory from after she lost her parents and before Julian left to become a doctor, so I'd say she was 3-5.I remember it was mentioned that in the memory Julian had a big growth spurt, so, since I like to think there is an 7-9 year gape between them, that would put him at 10-14.

I think it's an age range that makes sense, it is possible to remember things from when you were 3-5 (I personally do remember some things, mostly things that had an impact on me), and Portia had visual help to be able to remember it, so it would make sense that she had this memory hidden on her mind and then she was able to remember it correctly with help.

So, having all this in mind, I would say Portia is between 25-30 years old. Maybe you could give her an extra year, but I would not make her younger than 24 because then, if we follow my guesses, she would be younger than Asra (and it's canon that she's older) and I also think the age gap between her and Julian would be too big, and if it was, then maybe she could not remember him before he left. She had to be a kid, but not so young to not be able to remember how they played.

This would mean she was 24-28 when she started working on the palace.

Muriel

(Warning: This is goning to get long.)

I've seen some confusion about Muriel's age, mostly because it seems there are some inconsistencies about his past. I will try to make it make sense, but yeah, have that in mind please.

This man has been my hyperfixation for 2 whole years and at this point I am basically his own personal wikipedia, so I hope I do not leave anything behind, and Im sorry in advance for how long this is gonna be:

•We know he had to leave his home when he was still a kid.

•In his tale, he seems to vaguely remember how he arrived to vesuvia (so, not younger than 3 when he left?)

•He met Asra 17 years ago

•We do not know the exact age gap between him an Asra, but tbh I do not think at all than he's more than 3 years older, because in his tale he says that asra only seems “a couple years younger”, and they both seem to be on very close stages of their lifes even as kids. Muriel's just a big boy.

•We do not know how much time he worked as Lucio's gladiator, but he had to break free at least 3 years ago (since 3 years ago was when Lucio “died”).

•This is all me making theories and trying to make a guess with every tiny detail of info I remember, so take it with a grain of salt because I could be completly wrong, but I personally think that what makes more sense is that he left the Kokhuri when he was 3-7 years old. The reasons:

-I know it's pretty normal to not be able to remember much from when you were that young, and the trauma could also have made an impact on his memory, but I think he had to be very very young when he left because he's not even sure if he's from the south (in the scene where they get a room on the inn, the MC asks him how he can't be sure and he says it happened a long time ago). He does not seem to remembe his parents, his language (I am assuming the kokhuri have a different language than vesuvians) and in general he does not seem to remember his home practically at all. I personally think that if he was older than 8 it would be more strange, but maybe it's just me.

-In his tale he already says that he's starting to forget his parents, and he's still a young kid. I think that can be a hint to let us know he was really really young when he left, I think it would be weird otherwise

-I am not sure about this because maybe it could be understood in other way, but he seems to remember Lucio's voice from his nightmares? And I guess that means Lucio had to be there when the Scourage of the South attacked the Kokhuri. That, or maybe his voice appears on his nightmares just because, or he recognizes that his way of speaking is similar to other people from the South or idk. But I think it has to mean that Muriel had to be at least 3 to be able to remember Lucio's voice(even if it's vaguely and had to hear it again) or the way the people from the Scourage talked. If it's the first case, it also means that Lucio had to be there, so it had to happen before he was 18 (remember that in Lucio's tale he just became 18 and that's when he left his home). That's why I think their age gap has to be big but can't be bigger than 14, because 3+14= 17. Ok this is starting to sound dumb, right? But in my mind it makes sense, I swear

-I also think he could not be younger than 3 because he had to at least be able to walk, talk and well, try to survive on his own. I know 3 is still super young, but, I mean, if I had a vision where all my family died I would also send my 3 year old kid to live on his own lol, better having a little chance than dying my boy! And we see on his tale that the orphans work together to get food so maybe some older orphans helped him and the other younger kids until he grow ? Look, listen, some weeks ago I discovered there is a japanese show in which they film 2 year old kids going to the store and shopping on their own so it's possible! I am just trying to give the lowest age possible so we know where to start from :') and to try to make it make sense, because in his route it sometimes seems like he was practically a toddler (or directly one) when he left.

To sum up, I think he had to be around 3-7 years oldwhen he left his home so everything makes sense. It would make sense that he could remember some little things, but very vaguely and had to fill the blanks with his own guesses, it would also make sense if Lucio was there when the Scourage attacked the Kokhuris and that he recognizes his voice, it would make sense that he has trouble remembering even the most crucial things (his parents, his language...) and it would be plausible that he could survive being homeless if he at leasts knew how to walk and communicatte on his own.

•I personally can't see him older than 14 on his tale. I find it already a bit hard to believe he could be 14, because I personally think he still looks prepubescent, and tbh I think that Muriel would have been already as tall or taller than Lucio if he was older. I know malnutrition is a thing, but everyone seems impressed with his height, even Lucio, so idk his genes are just that strong I guess. Maybe his parents were over 2,15 and he's the short one of the family lol. I also think it would be a streatch if the game told us that this kid is huge and then the kid in question was 15 years old and around 1.50 meters. I'm gonna use the same images as before:

He seems to be slouching a bit, so maybe we could add 3-8 cm more. But my guess is that he was 10-12 on his tale, give or take a few years if you want, at the end of the day, it's all about you own perception.

•I think it's safe to assume that, if Lucio became count 17 or 18 years ago, that means Muriel had to leave his home approximately 20 years ago, probably a bit more, depends if you see him younger or older.

So, having all this in mind (finally!!!), I would say that Muriel is around 26-31 years old.

That would mean he was very young when he arrived to Vesuvia (and it would make sense that it happened 20 years ago or more), he met Asra when he was 9-14, he left the coliseum minimum when he was 23-28, and that his age gap with Lucio and Asra makes sense. If he was younger I think it would be more difficult to make the age gaps and his past as a gladiator plausible, and as I said before I honestly can't see him older than 14 on his tale. But again, this is all a headcanon.

Julian

I already explained Julian's age on my other post, so I won't repeat it, but my guess is taht he has to be between 33-40 (or maybe one or two years older, as long as his age gap with Portia makes sense and he's still younger than Lucio)

Lucio

I explained Lucio too. My guess is he's between 37-44. I would not put him any younger or older because then the age gaps would not make sense and neither his past.

Nadia

Im going to be short with Nadia because there are not many pieces of info and since she's the oldest one there is more freedom, because any kind of age gap would make sense.

•We know she arrived to Vesuvia 9 years ago

•She was married to Lucio for 6 years. Since Lucio has been “dead” for 3 years, that means they married 9 years ago

•She's the youngest of all her siblings. We do not know the age gap between them, but I'd say they are pretty close in age, since their parents are still alive and do not look too old, and Nadia has to be older than 37 for this to make sense. I mention this because maybe it would be plausible for Nadia to be 50, but, I mean, there has to be a limit haha.

Having all this in mind, I would say that Nadia is between 37-45~years old, but it could be a bit more. This would mean she arrived to Vesuvia and married Lucio at 28-36, she was 34-42 when Lucio “died”, and her siblings would be on their 30s, 40s or maybe 50s, which I think makes sense.

So, my conclusion is:

Asra: 24-28

Portia: 25-30

Muriel: 26-31

Julian: 33-40~

Lucio: 37-44~

Nadia: 37-45~

And if you are interested on knowing how I hc them:

Asra: 26

Portia: 27

Muriel: 28

Julian: 36

Lucio: 39

Nadia: 39

hi csykora! i appreciate this may not be your field of academic interest but as the pre eminent hockey professor i was wondering if you could give any insight as to why some draft classes are just stacked and others are ??? thinking about the absurdity that is the 2015 draft class vs the 2012 class for example

This is a great question! I have 500 answers. :)

I'm not a statistician, so I can't really talk about how particular draft classes are different, but there are a lot of reasons why they are. It's sort of a stew made up of some amount of the following reasons:

the annual draft isn't a snapshot of all the hockey players born in a certain year: it's a sampler of American and Canadian players who were between 18 and 20, and international players between 18 and 21, at a certain point in a certain year. While the top prospects we talk most about do often get taken in the first draft they're eligible for, keep in mind that this is a large and often overlapping group. That means that random differences between kids born in certain years can get folded together in an odd way.

whether you're taken in your first year and if so, where, depends on how much NHL decision makers have seen and heard about you. Teams judge prospects based on the assessments of the Central Scouting Service, and by the team's own scouts. The CSS is meant to be an unbiased resource for the whole league: they're the ones who publish out the twice-yearly draft reports ranking players, and who organize the Combine. (It's worth noting that while other major sports franchises also have league scouting departments to assist their teams, hockey is unique in that it publishes the scouting reports publicly and people, like normal members of the Canadian population with families and jobs, read them. Other sports fans just do not care about ranking prospects like this.) The CSS has about 5-10 full time scouts and 15 part time scouts in North America, and hires 6 more scouts from the European Scouting Service out of Finland to watch European and continental games.

You will notice that the CSS doesn't have a Russian wing. A couple of the ESS's 6 scouts rotate cover it for them, but--and I don't know if you all know this--Russia is large as hell. CSS scouts work long hours and travel ludicrous distances just to cover some of the US and Canada--and even then they manage to make Colton Parayko-sized mistakes. I want to be clear that I respect individual scouts' work, but the CSS reports are fundamentally flawed.

So each team will also hire some number of scouts to hunt for them. Several NHL teams still don't have a Russian scout--meaning an NHL team is ahead of the game if they have one. Russian hockey players barely manage to travel across Russia to get to all of their own games. And that's Russia, one of the richest mines for talent! Most teams don't have consistent scouting in lots of places like Czech Republic, Slovakia, etc. Scouts typically go to international championships and then might follow up on a player who has already been identified as promising. Sometimes while they do that they catch a random glimpse of other players. Vítek Vaněček, for example, is now a sturdy NHLer who wasn't on anybody's radar and would never have been drafted at all if he hadn't happened to be in the same city at the same time as Jakub Vrána.

The team scouts still have to start their hunt based on previous scouting, and some peer pressure. According to Serge Savard, "When Central Scouting comes out with their first-round list, all the scouts think, 'Oh, Christ, I better get this player in my list or I’ll look bad.'" Sure, you want to find a hidden gem before somebody else does, but on the flipside nobody wants to be the person who wasted days of travel and your boss' time by going to freaking Krasnoyarsk to watch some kid play and he turns out to be just okay. There are a lot of boys in Alaska who aren't Colton Parayko. That risk vs. reward leads to a happy medium of mundanity. NHL scouting is, by their own admission, accurate about 50% of the time.

So, did you make it to World Juniors? How did your team do this year, and maybe the year before (since again, we're looking at a draft eligible window)? How did your regular season team do? (And was that because of you, or in spite?) We often talk as though the World Juniors team are the best young players, but realistically if a young player's regular season team is strong and makes it deep into the season, maybe because he's helping them, sometimes they don't want to send him off to tournaments. Youth teams don't really care if one of their players gets on a national team or gets drafted to the NHL--maybe if he does he'll bring some good reputation for their program, or maybe not. In the CHL, it's fuck him really, he'll be 21 and age out anyway. Internationally, going to the NHL might bring a ton of money back to the community, but if there's a local pro team then they can't make money off him. They aren't inclined to be helpful. So it's not that all WJC players are actually bad, but there's a back-and-forth tug of pressures on which young players get on the international stage.

(This is especially a problem for young goalies: getting to the WJC really depends on their team being good enough that they look good, bad enough that they can leave in the middle of the season, or somehow both. In 2007, one of Canada's World Junior goalies put up a pretty miserable .833 save percentage. That was only to be expected--the reason he was available for the tournament was because he'd only won 42 out of the last 115 games for his regular season team, so they weren't exactly busy. As a result, he was drafted in the fourth round. His tandem partner for that tournament managed a more respectable .918, which had been about his average for the last few regular seasons, and was taken by the Avalanche in the second round, inside the top 50 prospects. One of these two players now has a Vezina, a Jennings, a Stanley Cup, and is named Braden Holtby. The other is Trevor Cann, who probably nobody outside Ontario remembers but me, and for sure nobody in Colorado remembers because he's never been there.)

Now, that's not scouting or teams' faults. It's also that 18 to 21 is a mind-bogglingly stupid age to predict young men's physical abilities. It seems like the idea that the human brain isn't "finished developing" until your early twenties has become a relatively common tidbit of science that people talk about on the internet--what I wish people would remember is that's as or more true of young men's freaking skeletons. Those boys are half-baked! There's a relatively wide range in when people reach their full heights, but your skeleton cannot fully mature until you do. In testosterone-driven development, your long bones grow from the soft growth plates at each end, until a hormonal shift stops them, causing the ends of the long bones to harden and thicken. (This process is why people with high T tend to have broader hands and bigger knuckles, in comparison to a similar person with lower T. Note that I phrase it this way because we all have testosterone.) Until that happens, bones are vulnerable to cracking at the growth plates, and muscles which generally attach at the ends of your long bones can become too strong for the bone under them. You really just do not know for sure how strong a boy is going to be until this process finishes, which could be in his mid teens but generally is in his early twenties. And as long as he's growing and his weight distribution is changing, he's going to have to keep adjusting how he moves. Some boys just go through a real gangly awkward stage, and that doesn't mean much of anything. (Speaking of things that don't mean much: the Combine. A lot of the tests aren't relevant, the ones that are, like the Wingate, aren't useful unless you have technical knowledge to interpret them, and it's a bad time to be testing boys anyway). As a pretty predictable result, the NHL tends to favor not just tall men, but men who got tall young, which is actually a pretty specific subset. Parayko grew six inches after he was 18.

Teams and their scouts follow trends, just like the rest of us. They want their own Carey Price, so they look for boys built like Price, who move like Price, even if maybe there's a different shape and style of goalie who would work just as well. They want tall boys. They want players with a certain body fat percentage, which means less than nothing. They want players with muscle in certain areas, so much that young players today do certain exercises just to look the right way. Maybe one year there's a really great smaller player, or a really great defenseman, and everyone gets excited about that guy but also knows they can't all have him, so they look closer than they usually would at other players in that 'type' to try to find a good alternative, and they drive up interest in that type of player.

And players make trends themselves. I think the biggest single explanation for 2015 is that, most of the time, playing either with or against a good player makes you a better player too. From a skill-development perspective, it's not actually the competition that matters, it's not about Eichel trying to beat McDavid, it's just about proximity. We learn from watching each other, being near each other. If you have a guy on your line who has already mastered a skill that you haven't yet, you'll learn it from him faster than you probably would have on your own. If you play against him, you'll learn it too. And when you're a younger kid playing near someone slightly older, who's more physically developed and therefore has had a chance to master more skills, you'll also tend to learn those skills. So again, we're talking about this range from 18 to 21, which I think can give you almost a hangover effect that stretches from year to year: you have a player like Mitch Marner who happens to be old enough to land in 2015, and then you have a younger teammate who had the opportunity to learn with him like Matthew Tkachuk who lands in 2016. (Not the greatest example because I'm sure Tkachuk would have been Tkachuk regardless, but my point is there is a clustering effect, most famously in Warroad, but also in Toronto and other places. Tom Wilson grew up learning to play from his future teammate Devante Smith-Pelly, and so on.)

Also, last but never least, the injuries. They completely change how we feel about a class retroactively. We really can't assume that just because some kid who was drafted high never panned out, he was never that great: very often there just wasn't a place available for him, and then he got injured in some quietly catastrophic way.

Yandere megatron x bumblebee

1- megatron acts like a relatively normal if over protective boyfriend at first.

2- as things progress though he starts getting more possessive, demanding more and more of bee's time, attention, and affection.

3- he starts bad mouthing the autobots and team prime especially to him.

4- bee doesn't think much about this behavior since megatron is leader of the cons so being a little paranoid and not overly fond of the autobots makes sense.

5- he doesn't think much about megatron inviting him to join the cons every other day.

6- megsy starts digging at bee's self esteem, not with the intention to hurt but to make him see that HE'S the only one that will ever TRULY love him.

7- it's nothing much, just mega passively pointing out how annoyed bots seem to be by his little love, how they act like he's dumb, how he seems to struggle with combat.

8- he's subtle about it, telling him how no one seems to really enjoy his company in one breath than listing off everything he loves about him in the next.

9- he makes bee more uncertain of himself, more vulnerable, more dependent on him for connection and validation.

9- bee doesn't show how much he's being affected, he's already been hiding his insecurities what's a few more?

10- Despite that megatron is well aware and increasingly giddy to finally have bee to himself.

11- once megatron does have bee he keeps him on a tight leash, restricting him to the base, if he let's him out of his personal quarters at all.

12- he's extremely paranoid that his "sweet bee" will be taken from him so the rare interaction bee has with anyone who isn't megatron is carefully monitored.

13- he isn't above using guilt to make bee do what he wants, bee wants to see his friends? Have some alone time? To get out of the base for while? What did megatron do wrong? Isn't he enough for him? Doesn't he understand he only wants what's best for him?

14- its almost always enough to make bee back down.

15- besides that he's extremely doting and insists that he only wants to take care of his darling love bug. As long as bee behaves himself he never has to want for anything.

16- Megatron likes to cuddle with him while crooning about their future ruling cybertron side by side and how they'll down in history together. The idea sickens bee.

17- another unnerving habit of his is telling bee in gorey detail how he'll make everyone who ever wronged his sweet bee suffer.

18- he's extremely interested in getting bee pregnant, in his mind a sparkling would be the ultimate symbol of their bond and ensure that bee would never be able to leave him.

19- bumblebee barely keeps him at bay about it with the reasoning that it wouldn't be a good idea to have a kid while they're stranded.

20- to say bee is on edge around megatron is an understatement, he's constantly terrified of setting megatron off and risking megatron restricting him even further.

Stranger Things and the quantum mechanics of time travel.

How El & Max travel through time.

I always pronounce the name in German that's why it didn't click. His name is Max - the Planck constant. With his work Max Planck layed the groundwork for modern day quantum physics/mechanics in science.

The Planck constant was a clue they gave us to point to quantum mechanics/physics and time travel. Quantum mechanics holds the scientific key to time travel and can even bypass the Grandfather paradox.

The one used in ST is from 2017,not the 80s which on face value looks like a mistake: 6.62607004

However if you split the number in half.

6+6+2+6 = 20

7+0+0+4 = 11

(That numbers, even dates put into an equation will turn to either 11 or 20 isn't unusual in Stranger Things: Mike tries to contact El 353 times, in the first DnD game Will needs a 13 but rolls a 7, Max's trailer number is 56 etc etc)

This split in half leads to another thought I had and others had but only in regards to Henry: that he was split. What if he wasn't the only one and there are two Elevens too, we just know them under a different name and face (I'll elaborate on that in another post)

Max was sent into another dimension & into the future.

Gates react depending on the emotions involved - fear and anger sent Henry into the Upside-down and love and compassion sent Max.. somewhere else. And it's just Max's mind. A gate was open. A mind gate. (We see the door of the Creel house is not in it's hinges when Max is there, meaning for her the door is open)

That's why they have parallels & mirrors. Literal mirrors as Max sees her counterpart, Henry, in the mirror, the left eye "blind" (there are other things they have in common like red & green clothing, a shot of Max in the gym vs Henry in the promo poster for that stage play thingy.)

We see the kaleidoscope before the teleportation - in El's "memory" before the zooming effect, the rainbow on Max's face & in the rainbow room. The most intriguing thing is that two kids use the rainbow as a bridge or road, playing with some toy cars on it.

And on the hand the colors we see from El's memory... It's a birth. Later associated with an electric shock when El is revived by Owens & Brenner.

"And there upon a rainbow is the answer to a neverending story. " - a rainbow bridge. A time vortex as it's called in Doctor Who. There also known as a Bifröst. Through a birth canal.

"Show no fear for she may fade away. In your hand the birth of a new day."

The association between this and "sent into another dimension" is obvious: El figuratively gave birth to or created something? Or at least helped. If not at least in a metaphorical way? . Most importantly Max's mind was send over this rainbow bridge (due to a fact that I noticed later/after this initial post - a zooming effect around El's head after the rainbow sequence) especially bc it appeared in the script during the revival, not before, a new dimension by teleportation of a being/mind. In connection to the electric shock/lighting bolt that can be seen in S1, framed by Blue and Yellow, and in the stained glass windows "eye" and in we have another association with the hints toward the 1.21 Gigawatts.

My Back to the future posts (a bit older and not 100% up to date & remember how BttF was literally in Season 3).

And the teleportation/transportation (as a metaphor) has been foreshadowed earlier when Max is in the hallway with the drawing of a rainbow starting with dots like it's disassembled into it's particles. (Comic book down below as an example of how you can do this in art)

According to an article (link down below) the physicist Timothy C Ralph ".... suggests using teleportation for time traveling, although in a different setting, namely, displacing the entangled resource in time." (This could be a coincidence but Tangled was pointed out as an inspo for S4. Tangled...entangled. The Creel house rose window that shows Blue and Yellow entangled. I don't know but it wouldn't surprise me if they tried to connect these things. So, this is definitely open for interpretation.)

Quantum mechanics, time travel/time displacement, wormholes (the DeLorean uses a wormhole btw and the time displacement is actually mentioned as a line).

They adapt these ideas (only on surface level), put in hints but basically, they told us what happened...it even makes it possible that Henry ended up in the past, defying the grandfather paradox.

We are talking about time travel via teleportation/transportation into another "dimension" .

Why else use these words in this manner in the script if not suggesting exactly that. (it could have been "when El remembered her birth/love of her mother yet this is not mentioned. Terry is probably just another proxy & Jane Ives just a...disguise). And mind lairs/inner worlds can be interpreted as exactly that: dimensions. I'm talking about Max's mind lair.

And then there was the hint towards "A wrinkle in time" and Mrs Whatsit. Madeleine L'Engle herself was fascinated by science like theoretical physics and like her the Duffers use these for ST.

In regards to quantum mechanics, you need to keep in mind a spin. "Deep inside all matter in the universe, electrons are buzzing around and behaving as if they are twirling around on their axes like spinning tops. These "spinning" electrons are fundamental to quantum physics and play a central role in our understanding of atoms and molecules."

ElMax itself has a visible spin. (credit to givehimthemedicine noticing this)

I give you the Flux Capacitor and it's spinning too.

Time travel however will work more like in "Days of Future Past" in which Logan's future mind was sent back in time into his younger self. Same body, different time. Like sleeping.

We saw for example quantum physics used as a means to travel through time and space in Endgame too. (I use these two examples only to showcase that others have done similar things too - it's not a direct inspo {necessarily} )

Except in Stranger Things and Max's case it's the future: an immediate time jump.

Brenner’s death shows a spin too and Henry is connected to things that spin like mills.

Why? Because that day in the lab, Henry/Edward was not only sent into another dimension but was also displaced in time. (Likely it were two Henry's from two timelines or he was split - the latter more likely. Others thought in this direction already. Same with El & Max?). Like Max was now sent into the future.

Cyberchase - The September 2005 promotion content

In September of 2005, Cyberchase was getting close to releasing a sequence of five episodes. These were:

Season 4 Episode 6: A Change of Art (was set to originally air on October 3rd, 2005)

Season 4 Episode 7: The Case of the Missing Memory (was set to originally air on October 4th, 2005)

Season 4 Episode 8: A Crinkle in Time (was set to originally air on October 5th, 2005)

Season 4 Episode 9: A Broom of One's Own (was set to originally air on October 6th, 2005)

Season 4 Episode 10: A Tikiville Turkey Day (was set to originally air on October 7th, 2005)

They decided to make a special section of the site promoting these episodes. It was very much in the style of the "What's Hacker's Secret???" Promotion that they used for the Transformatron Arc. I have posts on that.

I've submitted my archive of the September 2005 promotional content to the Flashpoint Project for preservation. So, that will be the best way to experience it again. However, I can at least show screenshots and talk about it here. I will warn you that I don't think its as good as the earlier Transformatron arc promotion.

Before we open the promotional section of the site, let's see how this section was promoted on the Cyberchase homepage of the time. Here is a capture from Septmber 30th showing that we are 4 days away from the first of the new episodes.

That "New Shows!" panel was a gif. I went and grabbed it, in all of its tiny glory. I recognize the screenshots as being from the first three of the episodes that were being promoted. I'm not sure why they didn't include the other two.

When we get into the promotion section, we start off on this page with the statues that The hacker made for the episode "A Change of Art". Those purple dots are important, as anyone who has seen the episode knows.

Unfortunately, that video preview is from the era when Cyberchase (and PBS as a while) used RealPlayer. The original streaming source was not able to be archived, and it is now lost. I don't know if this was web-exclusive, or if it would have aired on TV.

The "Play Hacker's Secret Word Game" is essentially the same game that they used with the "What's Hacker's Secret???" promotion. However, they advertise that it used different words this time that were relevant to this set of episodes.

I do think that some of their word choices were a bit weak.

Good to know that The Hacker is going to have green skin in these episodes, though. One weird thing I noticed when archiving this version of the game is that the game requested some MP3 files for different voice-lines depending on whether you won or lost. However, I couldn't find archives of those files. I had found the equivalent files from the version of the game that was used for the "What's Hacker's Secret???" promotion. I wonder if they accidentally released this version with those files missing.

From there, we can move on to the "New Episodes Coming!" link, where we get a synopsis for each of the episodes. Spoiler alert for 20 year old Cyberchase episodes, I suppose.

A Change of Art: Statues of Hacker are popping up all across Cyberspace. It's his latest scheme - art therapy! Heartbroken after losing to the kids yet again, Hacker throws himself into sculpture and gives his work away. Problem is, whenever one turns up, the power goes off. The CyberSquad investigates to see what;s causing these changes. Is Hacker back to his old tricks? Or has he finally had a change of heart? And what's with the sparkly purple dots on the sculptures?

The Case of the Missing Memory: Under the guise of a peach mission, Wicked arrives at Control Central with a handful of bad guys. But someone's up to no good, and steals Motherboard's precious Memory Integrator. Whodunit? Where is it?? And what does it look like??? Digit and the kids must figure out what they know - what they don't know - and what they need to know. Can they do it all before Motherboard's memory is lost forever?

A Crinkle in Time: Digit and the kids go on a rescue mission to save Slider, searching for their friend all over a mysterious cybersite called Ticktockia. But it's all a big trick by Hacker, and Slider's not even there! And if the CyberSquad doesn't leave soon, they'll be stuck forever. Can they learn enough about gears to escape before the clock strikes 9? Only time will tell.

A Broom of One's Own: When Wicked puts the CyberSquad Seal of Approval on her new "Wickedly Brooms," it's up to Matt, Jackie, Inez, and Digit to make sure the broom are as good as Wicked claims. They try them out, figuring out their speed - how far the different brooms go in a given amount of time. The brooms pass the test - but Wicked doesn't. They must race to Control Central and save Motherboard before Wicked's scheme succeeds! And where's Hacker? And what will he do when he finds out Wicked is trying to take over his turf?

A Tikiville Turkey Day: Hacker steals the legendary Egg of Benedicta - and the lush landscape of Tikiville wilts and turns brown. The spirit of the Tikians is crushed and Creech is in big trouble unless the CyberSquad can help! When their attempt to recover the Egg from Hacker fails, they hatch a new plan to replace the Egg. By studying patterns in nature, can they recreate the nest and restore peace and harmony to Tikiville?

I won't bother discussing the coloring pages, as they aren't actually specific to this promotion. I don't know if that section was new, or if they just used it to fill space. The main attraction is Cyberspace News Issue #2. We got the first issue during the "What's Hacker's Secret???" promotion.

The Hacker Talks! Sam Vander Rom's EXCLUSIVE Interview

Wicked's Big Surprise by Erica Ram

What can't this glamour girl from Happily Ever After do? The Wicked Witch, known to friends and foes alike as "Wicked," will soon be launching a secret new business. While she won't say what it is, Wicked does say "It's just so me! And it's full of surprises for you know who!" Does she mean Motherbaord and the CyberSquad? Or maybe her ex-fiance Hacker? As usual, Wicked leaves this reporter wondering what she's up to.

So, what did I think of it? This does feel like them wanting to re-use the formula from the "What's Hacker's Secret???" promotion. I enjoyed reading through this promotion, but its not as cool as the other one. That one did have Erica Ram's story on Slider, "The Heartbreak Kid", of course.

We do get hints at all five of those upcoming episodes. The Hacker is taking up art therapy. Wicked has her line of brooms (and a bizarre plan to use them to take over Cyberspace). A few villains have been invited to Control Central for a peace summit. Hopefully nothing important gets stolen while they are there. We hear about Ticktockia, and about how it has a "Crinkle in Time" ready to swallow the children. We learn about the Egg of Benedicta, and how plant life in Tikiville will die if some-Hacker removes it.

1. Queen Amara was a judge back in the day. She took the bar exam again and got her judge's badge back. She has been the judge for every case that is Apollo vs. Nahyuta. She loves to supervise her kids and see how they are doing.

2. Queen Amara is the Goddess of Law that Justine talks about.

3. Justine is the judge's granddaughter.

4. Sebastian lived with Justine for 3 years after his father was convicted.

5. When Sebastian moved out of Justine's residence, she was actually very sad.

6. Sebastian graduated from Themis Legal Academy, but he did not meet Hugh then because Hugh couldn't go to the Academy at a normal age so he went to it when he was older.

7. When Mia died, Maya was in denial for about 6 months so she always thought of Phoenix as her older brother, especially because he resembles Mia in behavior/behaviour a lot.

8. Back in the 10th-19th centuries, people believed that the Fey Clan and women who channeled spirits were witches. Now, the Fey Clan and women who can channel spirits have a motto that is "We are the granddaughters of the witches you couldn't burn."

Miles is always there for him and he genuinely cares but Phoenix still feels like a burden on Miles's shoulders. Miles is convincing him that that's not the case.

26. Benjamin and Max were kicked out of the Berry Big Circus. Max became a solo performer but Benjamin is still unemployed.

27. Bat woke up from the coma and is working as an acrobat.

28. Trucy, Klavier and the Berry Big Circus are all working on a HUGE collaboration. Rayfa also told them that if they need any assistance, she can always give them her best performers and she can come perform herself if they ask for her.

29. Kristoph never intended for Apollo to get caught up in anything Kristoph has ever done.

I don’t know much about tv but he definitely likes things like Trailer Park Boys, Bob’s Burgers, Parks and Rec, etc...

He’s dabbled in a lot actually. He had a pretty strong party phase in his teens. He used to do a lot of hard drugs when he was way too young, and it messed with his head a lot. He stays away from most things now since it interferes with his meds.

Vans or Docs.

6: Where does your OC buy most of their clothes? Who pays for them?

Honestly he gets a lot from thrift stores or borrowing shit from his friends. He’s had a job since high school so he pays for his own stuff. He just avoids buying things he doesn't really need.

He can cook enough to feed himself and his sister. It isn’t his favorite thing to do so he rarely gets creative, but he isn’t clueless in the kitchen by any means.

He often sings in the shower, the song just depends on his mood for the day. Usually things he and his friends have written since he’s in a band. It’s good practice.

Depression, anxiety, severe PTSD, and psychosis.

He just watches it.

I don’t think he was a Disney channel kid. More like Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network.

29: If your character is LGBT+, when and how did they realize? 

It started with a crush on their friend Bello in middle school. The feelings weren’t mutual but he couldn’t deny his attraction for him and just sort of accepted his sexuality after that. He’s always been surrounded by friends who are LGBT+ so he never felt the need to hide it from himself or anyone else.

30: Who are your OC’s celebrity crushes? 

Hayley Williams from Paramore and Billie Joe Armstrong from Green Day.

31: How does your character want to die? How do they actually die?

He wants to die around people he loves. He just really doesn’t want to be alone. I haven’t written a death for him.

He’s very shy. They almost never realize his feelings because he’s too nervous to actually approach them.

Yes.

He’s kind of a mix. Grunge/punk/emo with his own things thrown in.

Egotober 2023 Day 6: Like Children Again

Summary: Every once in a while the Lost Ones need a night where they just hunker down in the living room and sleep there like a bunch of seven year olds.

Prompt: Pillow

Chapters: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31

They didn’t tend to do this a lot, not since they were much smaller, and much newer in the Manor. Tonight the living room of the Manor was covered in pillows and blankets, making a huge pillow fort area. The outer area you could mostly walk through, but the inner edges you had to crawl. Snacks were left for the kids around the edges of the fort to keep them from making too big of a mess.

Dark opened a random portal or two to check on them but mostly the seven Lost Ones were left to their own devices.

Yan leaned over to put her elbows on her eldest adopted brother’s pillow. “How's Florida?”

“Too hot,” Patton looked up at her as he was working on a cat-themed coloring book. “But I’ll get used to it. Appa’s place down there has good air conditioning.”

“I want to go, tell him I can go,” Yan pleaded.

A pillow came from the side and hit her off of Patton’s area. Arthur had his black notebook on his lap and leaned over. “Fat chance, I only just got him to let me go, and if you go he’ll be all over us.”

“C’mon,” Yan said as she tossed the pillow back at him.

The young author easily dodged and the pillow almost dislodged some of the blanket wall. Which Illinois had to hold up before enough of the weight could start dislodging and bringing down the fort.

“Hey,” Illinois called out before his magic set the curtain rod holding the partition up. “Quit roughhousing in here, go outside.”

Yan leaned over and pulled the blanket up to lean over Illinois’s shoulder where he, Bim, and Yancy were watching Army of Darkness.

“Hey, Ills.” Yan smiled.

“No,” Illinois said without looking at her.

She frowned. “I didn’t even ask. You’re so mean.”

“There’s no convincing Appa, you’d have to wait another year at least.” Illinois finally looked back at her. “Wait your turn like the rest of us had to.”

“No fair,” Yan said as she moved into their area to watch the movie. Illinois let her slide up next to him.

Arthur and Patton were left in the other area for a couple of minutes before a portal opened up next to them.

Dark’s ringing was dulled but still present. “Boys, if you would, a moment?”

The two adopted brothers looked at each other before crawling through the portal and jumping down to stand in Dark’s office.

“Perfect,” Dark said as he pulled a small, thin wooden box out of a different portal. “I’ll make this quick. Patton, during your stay, you’re in charge.”

“Figures.” Arthur was barely audible but Dark gave him a sharp look.

Dark’s expression turned more into a frown. “I need you two to be able to blend in. Remember, your future careers in the Network depend on how well you do. I need you to be able to pretend to be fully human and have covers. If you can’t, you’ll be pulled back into Egoton and we will discuss what to do from there.”

“We got this, Old Man, don’t worry,” Arthur said.

“That remains to be seen,” Dark said as he opened the case and his aura pulled out two silver pines. Each a gleaming star with deer antlers curled around it. The pins were moved to clip onto the inside of their sleeve where a cufflink would sit on a fancy dress shirt.

Dark closed the case with a sharp SNAP and used his aura to check their placement. His aura burrowing into the very metal itself. “There are many gangs in the area. Deceit of the Twin Serpents is one of them. These should mark you as my top enforcers and give you less trouble.”

“Awesome,” Arthur smiled, turning his sleeve over to study it.

“Remember that you are my enforcers, you do things my way. You represent me and therefore you have to obey my rules to the letter. You are Pathos and Author, not anything else.”

“Got it, boss,” Patton did a mock salute, a huge smile on his face.

Dark managed a proud smirk. “You two will make your father proud, I’m sure of it.”

After that he opened up another portal right to where they had been before in the fort. “You both start on Monday, you have the weekend to pack and I can send you anything else you need. Including a trip home with just a tap of the pin.”

“Won’t need it,” Arthur said as he climbed back into the fort.

Patton gave another big smile and climbed into the fort where there was minor jealousy from Bim and Yan.

None from Illinois, at least visibly, which was what the young author had wanted.

All in all it was a nice night, watching movies. Talking about boys, except for Kay who just wanted to talk about random animal facts.

They fell asleep watching a horror movie and Dark was there to wake them up at the respectable hour of ten in the morning.

Another successful night at the Doom-Warfstache household.
