All of the moments in Epic: The Underworld Saga that made me audibly scream in my car when I listened to it for the first time (spoilers, obviously):
1.) Polites’ whole sequence and that tiny little “Polites” from Odysseus at the end
2.) ODYSSEUS’ MOM PLAYED BY JORGE’S MOM?!? LIKE IMAGINE GOING TO THE UNDERWORLD AND SEEING YOUR MOM THAT YOU DID NOT KNOW WAS DEAD LIKE ADD THAT TO THE TRAUMA LIST HOLY SHIT
3.) “i took too long” (😭😭😭)
4.) “I see your wife with a man who is haunting/A man with a trail of bodies/WHO?!?! (you… it’s you my guy…)
5.) “So if we must we must sail through/Dangerous oceans and beaches/I’ll go where Poseidon won’t reach us/And if I gotta drop another infant from a wall/In an instant so we all don’t die/Then I’ll become the monster/I will deal the blow/ And I’ll become the monster/Like none they’ve ever known” I MEAN COME ONNNNNN
I really want to give commentary/analysis on No Longer You because I think it may be my favorite song from EPIC that has been released so far so stay tuned for that

Young Odysseus introduces his son to the goddess Athena
(Alternative title: Telemachus meets his fairy Godmother)
Creator’s note:
Does this picture look blurry to you? Like even if you click on the image to enlarge it? I don’t know why but I can’t seem to get tumblr to show the full resolution image. I worked hard to make faces that actually look like faces for once but now they’re just blurry blobs 😭. Anybody know how to fix? EDIT: thank you all for the feedback! I’m glad it is not blurry for you!

My least favorite thing about the recent uptick in stories about Hades and Persephone as a romance is that people are forgetting the message of the original Homeric hymn. It is a Homeric hymn to Demeter, not hades, not Persephone, but Demeter. It is about a woman losing a child: to death, to marriage, etc. and grieving so hard she turns the world barren with her power of emotions. It is the story of how strong a mothers love is, the marriage is secondary, it is the catalyzing force to get to the story of mother daughter relationships and how powerful grief is. Like, in our modern worlds where we all re-examine our relationship to our mothers, and that position in a sexist world, is that not a perfect story? Is that not the message we all really need?one about the power of maintaining and holding onto our maternal relationships in a world that is constantly tearing them apart, instead of a love story that in essence we’ve heard again and again, and have to rewrite again and again to make it romantic. People can and should like the love stories, that’s why they exist. But in the process should we erase the real story about women that already exists?

how the fuck do you look at such a beautiful quote like that and thing "this is so odysus and peleople''. G*d you theyfabs are all the same, go and experience some actual culture rather then making everything about characters from whatever shitty 2000s thing convinced you you were a 'cute boi'. 'enbies' and fandomites have ruined every online space theyve touched. please read little women or pride and prejudice or something that will make you actually feel like a woman
Hate to break it to you terf, but Odysseus and Penelope aren't from the 2000s.
Don't pretend to be cultured just because you read that one mediocre Victorian woman book in high school if you don't recognize the names of characters from the foundational text of all western literature.
Also note that every single fascist movement claims its targets are ruining intellectual spaces by existing in them. You aren't special because you're painted pink.

The Odyssey, but if Odysseus just got to stay home and chill with his son and goddess bestie.
been obsessing over this musical project lately.
Can't stop imagining the moments Odysseus missed. Little mischievous joys, teaching moments etc. In this scene, Odysseus teaches Telemachus how to braid hair and Athena shares profound wisdom with two of her favorite mortals.

When you realize in "Just a Man" when he says "When does man become a monster?" and a few of the other lyrics, it can be seen as Odysseus talking about himself for having to kill a baby, but also the baby growing up and becoming a vengeful killer. I just think that's neat and also I'm gonna go sob now

Penelope: a short character analysis
SO I’ve been hyper fixated on Greek mythos and Homer’s Odyssey on top of Yours Truly and these two share a name. Names hold a lot of symbolism and Penelope (The Odyssey) is a symbol of faithfulness and fidelity, and she was clever enough to hold off the suitors for 10+ years by weaving and unweaving her tapestry. imo, Nel is extremely loyal to her family (i.e Grace) and also pretty clever as she tends to hold her own against Al, who is the epitome of cunning. I’ve been sitting on this brainworm for a While. Also the name Penelope means weaver or duck, which are both birds 👀👀 @amusingmusie
