Crossing The Line | Part 4

“What the fuck is that?” Was Robins immediate question as Steve donned a pair of sunglasses and a cap just before disembarking the plane.

“My disguise.”

“Your disguise?”

“Yeah, y’know. Fans an stuff.”

“...Steve. Steven. I’m always here to keep you humble, you know this, so I say this with an immense amount of—”

“Robin do you remember the JFK incident? Not the president don’t be a shit, I mean the airport and you know it.” The JFK incident being a single fan who got ONE photo of him walking through the terminal and boom, paparazzi everywhere, it was as though they’d just emerged from the walls.

‘What are you doing in New York?’

‘Are you visiting anyone special this Christmas?’

‘When are you releasing new music?’

‘Will you be attending any events here in the city?’

‘Who are you wearing right now?’

‘STEVE SIGN MY TI—’

It was always chaos. “Yeah yeah you got to sign an impressive set of double D’s, woe is you. I can see your moles Steve, that isn’t going to fool anyone with eyes.” Sure his signature head of hair was covered but the moles were as good a sign as any when it came to eagle eyed Airport celeb spotters.

“Sign an impressive— my ass was grabbed more times than I could count! I had hand sized bruises Robin!” He bruised like a peach and people in crowds were grabby. “I lost my favourite sunglasses.” The cheap pair he’d grabbed from the gas station after his first real paycheque cleared. “These cover my hair and my eyes, I can’t cover anything else.” He didn’t have the resources to pull a full face of SFX to hide himself.

“Aww poor baby, okay. At least put this on.” She pulled the scarf from her neck and wrapped it around his, it wouldn’t do much, but it’d cover the vampire bite moles he’d shown off on one of his early album covers.

“Great I look like a twenty-ten hipster.” It wasn’t even scarf weather. “All I need is a bullshit moustache.”

“Better than the local weirdo at a kids playground.”

“Oh my god, is that Steve Harrington?!”

“Shit.”

“Rest in pieces, sis”

“Robin get back here!”

There was a subtle art in getting away from paparazzi and fans alike, an art cultivated from being chased by them since he was nine. It involved fake plants, bathrooms, and Robins impressive gallery of ‘fake fan photos’. All it took was a photo whizzed over the internet through Robins ‘fan’ account, an account which used one of their regular makeup girls photos as a cover (agreed to, of course) to act as a ‘fan’ of Steve Harrington.

“How come nobody TOLD ME Steve Harrington was going to be flying out of Indy today?!” Captioned above a photo from two years prior that Robin took from a distance at that very airport for that very reason.

It took all of five minutes for the hoard to dispel, hurrying as fast as they could to as far as the airport staff would allow them to go, but Robin and Steve were once again free to get their asses out of that airport and into an Uber before anyone else could spot them.

“Okay, battle plan. I got us a twin room at the—"

“Don’t say Conrad.”

“What’s wrong with the Conrad?”

“It’s… bougee. It’s like the only five star in Indy, he already probably thinks I’m the worst, a nice four star would be fine, and a twin room? Robin how the hell am I supposed to woo a guy and bring him back to the hotel if we’re sharing a room?”

“First of all, I think you’re super overestimating your level of game right now to think that you’d just be able to go from wooing to the hotel room in one sweep this guy seems like highkey mom’s basement dwelling virgin, dude probably scampers, second, we don’t even know if he enjoys the male form, and third... honestly I’m expecting you to strike out so we can have a sleepover with facemasks and chocolates. But fine, fine, what hotel would you like?” Robin passed him her phone with the booking app already loaded.

“Your faith in me is truly what gets me through my days, Robin.” He was choosing to ignore the panic inducing idea of what if he isn’t even into guys?!

“I aim to please.”

“What about an apartment? See there’s one here, two double bedrooms, four star rating, we can book now and grab the keys at reception.”

“Fine, fine, you’re making all the food though, since you’ve robbed me of my five star room service.”

“I’m cool with that.” A few buttons pressed, details auto filled, booking complete. Indianapolis, here they come!

• The only other person not out of their mind in this house turned into a toddler somehow

• Pretty sure it was a curse against him

• Listen dear I doubt he gets along with a toddler for an entire day

• Though you being nice to him, showing him daffodils, rocks with your sticky little hands, hugging his leg until he picks you up helps a lot.

• He is in his prime during bedtime; reading you stories is his favourite part of the day. You are a good, curious kid & never throw a tantrum when he is with you. It is so peaceful he doesn’t actually want it to end. He tells you another story even if he has already told you 4.

Mammon:

• Oh jesus thank God you were turned into a toddler and not him!

• At first he isn’t too sure about what to do with you but quickly gets the hang of playing a bit roughly

• You know the kind of playtime moms don’t wanna see

• He spins you around, hangs you upside down, throws you into a pile of pillows, lets you sit on his neck, throws you in the air, stuff like this.

• It does good for your confidence levels regarding child development plus! you get tired super fast after spending time with him.

• You, him and Levi have a freeze dance competition every afternoon! Sometimes they won’t let you win though.

Leviathan:

• Doesn’t really know what to do with you either. In fact he is scared of you a little.

• You clinging to him, throwing kisses etc. melts him eventually, you are just so adorable he was an idiot to be scared of you.

• Definitely loves to roleplay with you. Comes up with the cutest storylines, though sometimes it gets so complicated you miss it here and there.

• He can easily keep you busy for 3 hours a day and never ever complains

Satan:

• Highkey concerned about the situation

• Never ever seen a toddler before

• His concerns leave him once he sees that you are actually a good little one.

• So now it is his duty to teach you mischief!

• He spends lots of time teaching you to speak as you haven’t said a comprehensible word yet.

• His strategy is referring to himself as „Tantan” but he calls everybody else „The Avatar of” or „The sixth born”, you know, so there is absolutely 0% chance your first word isn’t Tantan. Or maybe kitty/cat, that’s also a phrase you hear quite frequently.

Asmodeus:

• I think he is the only one who gushes over you right away.

• Doesn’t want you to turn back, look at how adorable your cheeks are!!!

• Spends most of his money on new clothes for you, you have to be the all time most fashionable toddler in the city.

• Loves to have tea parties but tbh that’s pretty much it, not sure what/how else to play but he does everything else!! Very enthusiastic and overprotective!!

• He also gets you this helmet so everytime you might fall you’re not going to hit your head. You are so spoiled my dear

Beelzebub:

• Also thinks you are super adorable. Might eat you if you are with him too much.

• Takes you out to the city with him, you must learn how to get food!

• Introduces you to ketchup

• He takes you to the playground the most.

• He is def not the most violent of the guys but trust me you are very well protected and safe!

Belphegor:

• Doesn’t really like what’s going on right now to be fair

• But at least you are nice so that makes it easier

• His preference is cuddling and having a snack with you as you watch TV

• One time he got you chicken to eat.

Happy end of January! here are all the books I read this month

Black AF History: The Un-Whitewashed Story of America by Michael Harriot.

Exactly what it says on the tin! Very good pop history book, tremendously well researched; actually very funny. I HIGHKEY recommend the audiobook if you can get it. Favourite book of 2024 so far.

Benjamin January mysteries by Barbara Hambly. I've read three of them this month because they're excellent. (A Free Man of Color, Fever Season, Graveyard Dust.)

Historical fiction + murder mystery set in 1830s New Orleans, and I love the atmosphere as much as I do the characters. You know those books where the city is its own character? THAT. Excellent vibes, very thoughtfully researched, and the character dynamics are excellent. (CW for period typical racism all over the place as the main character is a dark-skinned Black man in 1830s New Orleans; no gratuitous edginess)

Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky

THIS BOOK HAS SPIDERS IN IT. Just putting it out there because I very much missed it, and the spiders are a big deal. Scific, space opera. 10/10 would rec unless you're violently arachnophobic, then proceed with caution.

Don't Fear the Reaper by Stephen Graham Jones

Second book of the Indian Lake Witch trilogy. Unfortunately not as cool as the first but I'm hype for the third book coming out! If you like poetically described gore, and badass horror ladies, read the first book first. This one isn't quite on that level but there IS death and destruction <3

Four Thousand Weeks: Time Management for Mortals by Oliver Burkeman

I can't believe I 1) finished a self-help book and 2) I'm really out here recommending it to people, but I really found it useful. Will wonders ever cease?

Nineteen Claws and a Black Bird by Agustina Bazterrica

Horror short stories collection. A couple were bangers, a few were absolute duds.

Take My Hand by Dolen Perkins-Valdez

Do yourself a favour and don't read this. Allegedly historical fiction; in practice, the "fiction" part is extremely dull and the book doesn't have anything going for it except the ripped-from-the-headline case of the Relf sister. The cover is pretty, I guess.

Unwell Women: Misdiagnosis and Myth in a Man-Made World by Elinor Cleghorn

Tremendous read. Medical misogyny through the ages, with an eye to intersectionality; I have some nitpicks about the tone of the writing but I'm still going to recommend it to everyone. (link goes to my GR & we should be friends)

Vendetta ai Mondiali by Paolo Foschi

This is a prize for a few elects (Italian speakers). Italian sports-themed detective novel except the grizzly detective is gay... I feel like this was written for ME personally.

The Wee Free Men by Terry Pratchett

Unfortunately, I'm running out of new-to-me Discworld novels! This made me very happy but also very emo.

hello hello!! I'm doing pretty alright now, feeling a lot better than I was this past week :) and that's so sweet of you to say, it's so reassuring knowing I have so many of you guys willing to read my silly stories no matter which fandom they're about (or even if they're original)

and yes I do have some recs!

I made a post about two months ago now talking about books I'd read that I really enjoyed so there'll be some crossover here but also some new ones I've read since then

one of my new favorite novels is The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon. it's a heavy fantasy story following 4 different intertwining POVs. the fantasy world itself is made up of several different countries all inspired by various real world cultures that's not just limited to western europe which is incredibly refreshing. the world itself is incredibly fleshed out and interesting, the characters are all very diverse and have so much depth, and there's also a very beautiful sapphic romance <3 I'm reading the prequel to priory right now and I'm also loving it so far

another book I really enjoyed is actually a duology—The Radiant Emperor series by Shelley Parker-Chan. the first book in the series is She Who Became the Sun which I really enjoyed, however the sequel book He Who Drowned the World is the one that absolutely blew me away. just letting you know in case you're not comfortable with it, both books contain sex and some graphic violence. the story is set in 14th century China when it was ruled by the Mongols, and it's an incredibly well done queer retelling/fictionalization of the rise of Zhu Yuanzhang, the Emperor who ushered in the Ming dynasty. the text engages with so many themes of the expectations of masculinity and femininity and how they restrict people, and really dives into gender expression and how it can be wielded in different ways. again the first one was really enjoyable, but the second one was on a whole other level and I'm still reeling over how good it was and how much it emotionally hurt me.

This is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone - I know we all heard about this one thanks to the iconic bigolas dickolas wolfwood on twitter but also they were so right about this book. it's gorgeously written. the book itself is mostly written as letters exchanged between two women who are time traveling agents on opposing sides of a war for who controls the timelines. it's a beautiful love story, it's sci fi but with a heavy bend towards spec fic which I personally really like, the world concepts are incredibly fascinating, and it plays around with time travel in a very intriguing way. it's a very short book so it's an easy one to burn through. I checked this one out from my library but I'm highkey tempted to go to a bookstore and actually buy a physical copy for myself just because there were so many gorgeous lines I want to highlight

MCR Headcanons - they find out you’re in hospital

Summary: How the MCR members would react to finding out you’re in hospital after an accident Reader: can be read as any gender (no pronouns used) Warnings: hospitals, mentions of pain A/N: Don’t worry, in the future I’ll stick to proper one-shots, but i just wanted to share these thoughts, and with 60+ stitches in the face i don’t feel like writing much more. Written on my phone and not proof read. I'm literally laying in a hospital bed rn. While I was in the middle of writing this they gave me a syringe to the stomach and man, it fucking burns. Also i just sneezed for the first time since Monday, and it’s not an expierence i need to repeat any time soon.

Frank

Surprisingly calm. Worried af but surprisingly calm

Packs a few things he thinks you might need before going to the hospital (mainly snacks)

Frank's been in hospital often enough to know that snacks are rare and make everything better, so he only brings your favourites

Will give your door a very gentle knock and wait for an answer before he enters

If there's none (maybe you're asleep), he'll wait outside your room in the waiting area and try again after 30min

If you have an injury in your face, he will tell you how badass you look (if anyone else would have told you that, you might have tried punching them, but you know that it's just Frank's way of trying to process things)

If you're in hospital for a few days or longer, he brings his guitar and plays soft songs to you. Not necessarily singing, just plucking strings (you think he's secretly composing)

Absolutely will try to crawl into bed with you, especially if the room is cool. So you don't get cold (that's his argument, but you both know he just want to hear and feel you breathe)

Makes sure you don't fall out of bed by wrapping his arms and legs around you as good as your injuries allow, and tucking his head underneath your chin

Even though he's calm, he needs to be comforted just as much as you do. So if your lips work you better kiss his hair

Panics.

Not the headless-chicken-running-around kind of panic. But the cold, internal one, freezing his heart over

But he tries to stay calm.

Unlike Mikey he doesn't drop everything. If he's cooking he's making sure to finish cooking and packs away the food before getting on the way

Definitely shakey voice when he asks for your room number at the information desk

He's just really glad to see you

Depending on how bad you are, he will definitely try to hug you but if you warn him that you think it might be hurtful, he will completely understand and only gently smile at you

Headpats and forehead kisses / hand kisses !!! (Depending on what's possible)

Will try to stay until you fall asleep, but if he notices you need some alone time, he will leave earlier than he wants to. Your comfort is his top priority

On his way out thanks the nurses and doctors he meets in the hallway for taking care of you

Highkey relieved if you're awake and can talk to him. He was preparing for the worst case scenarios

Will read comic books to you. Or Tolkien. or your favourite books. Or tell you about any and all story ideas he's recently had. Even if you heard about them 100 times already

When you're eventually asleep, he draws you as a superhero. Because that's what you are to him

Mikey

Super nervous to go to the hospital, but nothing and no one can stop him

I can't imagine him liking hospitals (who does really)

But he gets to you as soon as possible

3am? Who cares. Middle of band practice? Band practice is over now

Definitely stopping at a shop on the way to get a plushy

Hospitals are very anonymous and can be really lonely, and he needs to know someone or something is keeping you company after the nurses will kick him out inevitably

Will be really concerned about how you are, but resists the urge to constantly ask

Which you're really grateful for

Trys to stay in physical contact with you the whole time. If he can't brush over your hair or cheek or hold your hand, he will pat your knee.

Stays until the nurses kick him out so you can have some rest, and he leaves behind one of his hoodies for you to cuddle bc the plushy isn't enough in his opinion

Hello. Are you going to write your opinion on Tagatha?

I have no clue how old this ask is. Imma be so honest, I'm only now learning how this system works but YEAH SURE I'LL TALK ABOUT TAGATHA

haven't touched the books in a hot year or so but i remember some spirit waking up inside me and making a google slide so i have guidance, let's allow my brain to catch up as i read this.

Disclaimer, I think the book should have ended at 3. I think any further kinda rips away the happy ending those three had so my opinions are that of the first three books.

Now, I enjoy a good enemies to lovers as much as the next person but my _god_ did I not like it with Tagatha at all. They just never seemed to really get each other??? The constant bickering was never really cute to me and maybe I just need to reread it, but it always seemed like their romance was very surface deep.

They were both kids— teenagers basically at this point in the story both in societies that glorified one side and villianised the other, so their opinions and way of going about things reflected that. Honest to god? Great set up, didn't like the execution. I feel like it's because it never felt like Tedros was even meant to be a love interest in the first book.

Tedros had a lot of good traits to him in the first book (heck, mans became my favourite character when I started writing him because I found him and his story really interesting) but he just never felt like a person to me at that point. It never felt like this love story that made me want to ship them, it just... set the stage of everything really well.

He was there to be an obstacle, at least to me! One of the many things Sophie had been dreaming of her whole life but then couldn't have. From a technical stand-point, I could only imagine Tedros and Agatha being together to further add to Sophie's anomosity and jealousy and further show that the girls were in the right schools.

Agatha was a princess, in her Good School with her Prince who she would then marry and make her a Queen. Agatha was meant to be the best, both because she obviously was and to give a good subversion of tropes, and Tedros fit the bill.

And maybe that's the intention and if so, okay! but it never appealed to me as all.

Their original relationship felt a fair bit rushed as well. While confidence in a person does make them more attractive, does it really just erase all the previous history they had?

Like okay, if we're relying on Tedros just being a himbo and focusing more on the pretty face (something I despise mind you) alright, fine but Agatha? She also lets bygones be bygones, forgets all the valid arguments and the reasonable dislike she had for Tedros? Seriously?

Their dislikes of the other were valid! And even when they did good things or things that kinda went against what they thought, how would they be sure y'know? They never talked. Never had a moment where they sat down and just tried to understand each other and that was highkey the worse part of it all.

I always thought it'd be something nice to have the two learn from each other, or rather grow with the other because they both have very harsh views on the other gender— based on upbringing both harsh and limiting but they always just fell back into the habit of just assuming the worse of each other. And maybe I'm too aro for this and maybe the book is just a product of the time (I still didn't like it then though) but I never got the arguing like a married couple thing.

Why is that cute? Like yeah, sometimes spending time with one another can have you learning new potentially annoying things about each other that you dislike but my god, not a scrap of understanding out of either of them? I guess that's how you can tell they're young.

The worst part of their bickering as well is they never actually work through a good few of their issues! The plot (or the Storian, I suppose) just moves them along to the next thing so they have to work together and thank god they can manage that at least.

In the grander scheme of things, it just sucks for the both of them! They're kinda just nudged towards each other by fate and just stuck together because the Omniscient Magic Pen said they were meant to be and they just rushed into it.

So, that's my opinion on them. I like them both! But I just don't ship them. Honestly, I think they belong with other people. (Maybe prioritise some healing from past trauma and deconstruction of some core beliefs before yall jump into relationships but that's just me.)

tom's midnight garden--i've never heard of this but this sounds like the kind of kids' book i would have really enjoyed...something old school and quietly imaginative, it's sweet that he includes it

Surpising emotions about rediscovering an old interest

under a cut because 1) length 2) Homestuck is mentioned and I get the impression some people don’t like it very much.

Let us turn back the clock to spring 2008. I was in high school and my Standard Grade exams were just a couple of months away. I had a lot of favourite media, but relevant to this story are examples such as: Treasure Planet, Dan Brown books (which I have definitely left behind in that era, but for a while they were definitely A Thing in my brain), Operation Red Jericho by Joshua Mowll, The Mummy, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Pirates of the Caribbean and Indiana Jones. Hopefully you’re sensing a theme here: I would absolutely devour anything with an adventure/mystery combo, especially if it involved codes, maps, riddles, secret organisations etc. And one day, probably a weekend afternoon, we switched on the TV to find this film was on.

And that film... was National Treasure. And surpise surprise, during the scene inside the Charlotte (and over the course of the rest of the film) I got attached to Ben Gates like a limpet.

Things then followed a pattern which had already become very predictable in my life. I liked a character, which then quickly merged into liking an actor (in this case, Nicolas Cage) and of course then Special Interest Brain dictated that I then had to watch as many of his films as I could. Over the next few years I saw... pitifully few of them, now I’ve finally got up the nerve to look on IMDb, but enough to make it a thing (6 before I went off to uni). Unfortunately, because I am notoriously bad at keeping my interests to myself whether I want to or not, my family inevitably finds out within, like, a week of any new obsession, which as a teenager embarrassed me very greatly (and still does a bit). My mum did try to relate to me with such things (she even got my dad to watch one of the National Treasure movies but I don’t think he was that bothered about it tbh), but that usually only made me awkward because I was watching things with my mum and it was embarrassing.

My Nicolas Cage-watching would get one last hurrah in 2010, when I went to see the university film society’s screening of Kick-Ass in freshers’ week. Again, obsessed. Obsessed enough to go as Hit Girl for Halloween that year, but we all know the drill by now - the highkey messed-up (but my kind of messed-up character, with a tragic backstory, incredible combat skills and a cardigan) Damon Macready was really the blorbo of choice.

But what happened then? Why did I go from this high point to trying to avoid mentioning Nicolas Cage as much as possible? Two words: ‘the’ and ‘internet’.

I was already aware that some of Cage’s films were, to put it bluntly. not great. I had felt the cringe a bit even as a teenager, but I soldiered on. However, when I discovered social media and other similar websites, all the memes and jokes and so on made me even more embarrassed about it, and I felt like no one should ever know because I was worried that then even people whose opinions I respected would just laugh at me and tell me I had no taste, and other things of that nature. Some of those jokes were probably exaggerated for comic effect, but I’m really bad at judging tone and to me they read as straightforward mockery or dislike.

Fast-forward to 2023, a week or two ago. I have just moved to a new flat and have no wifi yet. But clever me thinks “ah, but I have the Unofficial Homestuck Collection saved to my laptop, which requires no internet, and the whole new-job-new-flat hassle means I did get behind on my routine catch-up reading. Let’s do that.”

Those of you who are familiar with Homestuck probably knew where this was going as soon as you read the word in this post. For those of you who don’t know, one of the main characters in Homestuck loves the movie Con Air. It’s referenced at least a few times (I’ve just started Act 5, so there may be more to come). There’s one scene (pp. 1660-1666, CW for some ableist language on the last page) that just really made me emotional because it connected this film with the friendship of two of the characters, and it was like a switch was flipped back on in my brain. Or more like pulling down one of those giant switches they pull down to give electricity to Frankenstein. I felt like I had gone through the cringe and come out the other side. I had to watch Kick-Ass and I had to watch it now. Or at least as soon as I got a free two-hour block of time. 

And then after a few days of reliving autumn 2010 (complete with Lady Gaga songs), I had to watch National Treasure. And I vowed that as soon as I got wifi I would watch The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, which I had made myself avoid when it was first out. And now I have. I’m not quite on Javi’s level, because 1) I don’t have Javi’s budget and 2) I would have drawn the line at the sequinned cushion. But let me tell you, teenage me would have gone absolutely feral at that movie. I probably would’ve felt like I shouldn’t be allowed to watch the sauna and pool scenes, for a start. (Thankfully, I’ve become more chill and less wound-up about that sort of thing, relatively speaking.) But god, I had to really get up my nerve to make that ‘what is the internet’s opinion’ post. Now I’ve done that, and gone to the tags in a roundabout way by searching for related movies first and then tag-hopping, it’s a lot less scary. I even managed to look up IMDb, and ignore my brain shouting ‘THE SEARCH ENGINE WILL JUDGE YOU’.

So, my Nic Cage obsession is back “not that [it] went anywhere” (yes, that’s a reference to The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent). More to come, if I can find good content. Unless he gets overtaken by Good Omens

And in the spirit of the aforementioned Homestuck character, I leave you with Rosie, referencing a story I haven’t finished reading and a film I have never seen (YET. BUT SOON).

oh, god... it was either some angst about the elves crossing the grinding ice from the silmarillion, or some long convoluted bizarre homestuck dystopian cyberpunk universe au starring the alpha kids. i barely even remember what was going on there, and i sure don't remember which of those i wrote first. i THINK it was technically the elf thing but i posted the homestuck one first. also the homestuck one was like 250k. go big or go home

19. what are some books or authors that influenced your style the most?

AHH i love this question. tolkien of course is the biggest influence on my writing ever, but also diana wynne jones and brandon sanderson!! i've also really liked stina leicht's worldbuilding in what i've read of her stuff, though admittedly i haven't read a ton of hers yet. but my god... i fixated hard on the silmarillion at 11 years of age and i think that explains a LOT about who i am as a person.

65. what is your favourite title for a fic you’ve written? 

well now i have to go back and check what fics i've written... honestly it might be a cop-out answer but i might say sotm?? that and the longfic i abandoned on my old account had titles that Really were highkey relevant tie-ins to the fics themselves, and i Love me some literary references, so sotm wins out over the other one in that regard. it ties in a lot abt kon's character while also being a canon reference and this makes me happy :]

no bcos i walked into this movie hearing so many good things about it i was kind of worried ab it being underwhelming to my expectations But It Was Not. it made me bawl the first time i watched it highkey 🤭 something about the specific flavour of parental... disappointment?? love??? it was beautifully crafted and stephanie hsu's performance to me was unforgettable im probably going to go watch her entire portfolio ive watched the vid below like 10 times

jort recommended this show to me and i finally bit the bullet and watched it in may... ITS SO BEAUTIFUL. IT JUST. clenches fist idkkk this show just is stunning on so many levels visually its my fav anime i think??? so many frames that will live in my head forever... also the nature of the narrative about Kindness without the like framework of whether its "deserved" or you're worthy of giving or receiving it really spoke to me. hats off to jort for this i'm rlly glad i got to start it while the show was airing

Highlights of the plot synopsis roster under the cut (And this isn’t even all of them)

- Zero Escape-adjacent death game but with dogs and mentally unstable divorced women yuri that is entirely an excuse for me to play with my favourite animal ficton tropes (Specifically the sliding scale of to what degree animals are anthropomorphized in fiction and also wanting to dig aggressively into the ‘humans bad nature good’ narrative that tends to be common to the genre) because developing a special interest in Warrior Cats as a kid does something to you once you discover better animal-centric books and this is proof

- Doomed by the narrative but the narrative is the sparklecat comic the protagonist wrote when he was 11. A story about artists and their relationship to art, its meanings, the interconnected web of people who make and consume it, and what defines it at all, wrapped in layers of surreal nonsense comedy. Has my least neurotypical character cast to date which is REALLY saying something

- Entire Warrior Cats fan arc/conclusion to the whole story post-OotS (Feat. The evil StarClan arc we all deserve) that I started writing solely out of spite when past Azure dropped the series after Tigerheartstar got magically resurrected. I’m more attached to these motherfuckers than I have been to any major characters from the past three arcs combined. Also really really proud of the worldbuilding on this one but I’m not divulging details until this motherfucker gets its own behemoth of a post on the potential sideblog

- Hell is real but the supposed eternal damnation for sinners is just being forced into a desk job doing all of heaven’s paperwork for them because nobody else wants to. And also the whole cast is talking cats

- A universe comprised solely of ideas and scrapped concepts I wanted to use for other stories and was too attached to to let go of so I strung them all together into an incoherent mess for the bit
