Heeseung pouts dramatically as he watches you fangirl over the celebrity, feeling a surge of jealousy bubbling up inside him. "What about me?" he whines, his voice taking on an adorable whiny tone, complete with puppy-dog eyes that could melt even the coldest heart. With shiny sparkling eyes, he attempts to rotate your attention back to him, pulling you into a tight hug and peppering your face with playful kisses, all in a bid to reclaim his status as your number one fan.

PARK JONGSENG

Jay can't help but feel a twinge of annoyance as he watches you fangirl over the celebrity, but he's determined to keep it lighthearted. Hugging you tightly, he rolls his eyes with exaggerated flair, muttering under his breath about the celebrity's questionable talent. "He's not even that good," he grumbles, though his playful smirk betrays his true feelings. "But he kinda looks like me, right?" With a mischievous twinkle in his eyes, he pulls you closer, stealing a quick kiss before diving into his own hilarious imitation of the celebrity's signature moves.

SIM JAYEUN

Jake grins from ear to ear as he watches you fangirl over the celebrity, thrilled to have found a fellow fan in you. "Oh yeah, you have that album? Well, too bad I have the signed one!" he boasts, flashing you a cheeky grin. With an air of playful competition, he launches into a spirited debate about who the bigger fan is, all in good fun. "You may have met him once, but I once waited in line for six hours just to catch a glimpse of him from afar!" he declares proudly, earning a playful eye-roll from you in response.

PARK SUNGHOON

Sunghoon can't resist teasing you mercilessly as he watches you fangirl over the celebrity, reveling in your adorable excitement. "Looks like there's competition for me," he quips with a smug grin, though there's a twinkle of mischief in his eyes. With exaggerated arrogance, he strikes a series of ridiculous poses, parodying the celebrity's trademark moves in a bid to steal back your attention. "Who needs him when you've got me, right?" he says with a playful wink, pulling you into a goofy dance that leaves you both doubled over with laughter.

KIM SUNOO

Sunoo adopts a sassy demeanor as he observes your fangirling, determined not to let the celebrity steal your attention away from him. "Okay, but have you seen how cute I am?" he jokes, his eyes sparkling with mischief. With a playful toss of his hair, he launches into a hilarious impression of the celebrity, complete with exaggerated gestures and an over-the-top accent that leaves you giggling uncontrollably. "I may not have millions of followers, but I've got charm for days!" he declares proudly, flashing you a dazzling smile that melts your heart on the spot.

YANG JUNGWON

Jungwon laughs good-naturedly at your fangirling, though he can't help but feel a twinge of jealousy deep down. "Looks like you've found a new crush," he chuckles, though there's a hint of wistfulness in his tone. With a playful wink, he pulls you into a tight hug, planting a sweet kiss on your cheek saying "but it'll always be me right?" to remind you that he's the only celebrity you need in your life.

NISHIMURA NI-KI

Ni-Ki's jealousy reaches peak levels as he watches you fangirl over the celebrity, his playful demeanor giving way to a hilarious mix of envy and frustration. "Ugh, he's so smug. I hate him," he mutters under his breath, his annoyance palpable. "Why are you even looking at him? Have you seen his hairstyle? That was me back in my school days." (as if bro ever went to school💀💀) With an exaggerated eye-roll, he launches into a comedic rant about the celebrity's questionable fashion choices, determined to prove once and for all that he's the only one worthy of your admiration.

One Of Your Kind

A hopeless romantic lost in a world where everything seems transactional. Talented, tenacious, temporary. That was the best description of Y/N, an upcoming actress.

Playing the main character in am exploding Netflix Original series came with it's benefits. Invitations to the most prestigious fashion shows, VIP tickets for concerts, but most importantly - special treatment when it came to visiting Arsenal when Y/N so wished.

Realising how much of a football fanatic Y/N was came as a sweet surprise. Childhood fotos wearing the Arsenal kit, following the whole women and men's squad on social media, interactions with the players, a true gunner.

Y/N was known to visit the Emirates Stadium, but she was a regular at Meadow Park, having a soft spot for the women's team.

Having been introduced to Alex Scott, an Arsenal legend, Y/N had great company for the home games. The players got used to her regular assistance, getting post game chats with the star. Every encounter, everybody would end up fangirling on whoever they ended up talking to, but when it came to Y/N and Leah, they always managed to keep the chats down to earth, interesting, flirty but playful.

Over months, Y/N would bring her co-stars, friends, rumoured romances to watch Arsenal. Y/N's sexuality being mostly a secret to the public eye, fans would end up shipping their star with everybody she came in contact with. Leah wasn't an exception. The difference : Leah's fanbase.

Both groups managed to gel like they were supposed to merge into one, both sides cheering for the possibility of their favourite power-couple.

On a home game, the fandom's wishes became true - or as true as rumoured relationships get to be.

Leah's injury made her watch the games from the stands, but this time she was sat next to Y/N. Talking all throughout the game, cheering, screaming, complaining and shouting their lugs out together. The both of them seemed to have a great time, so much so, that a post match dinner became a requirement. This occurrence soon became a tradition, posting their evening shennanigans to their social medias.

After Leah's return from injury, Arsenal went on a winning streak, getting on a title chase against Manchester United. The gunners were the favourites, but when it came to facing the Red Devils, they had to show why they were backed by so many to win the league. Tied at 28 points with them and Chelsea - it was the gunner's chance to capitalise.

The match in itself wasn't as exciting as most had predicted, at least result wise. Sure, both teams getting their chances in front of goal, missing sitters, giving away dumb fouls, but it all ended on a narrow win for Arsenal. Some would agree that it was an undeserved one.

Post match, Leah was called for media duties. Y/N not far behind, hearing the Arsenal's captain defend her girls to the press "It wasn't a great match, but in times like these, we have to regroup, correct our mistakes and grow as a team" she declared before saying her goodbyes to the press.

"Not happy about the game huh" Y/N stated, keeping her eyes to the ground, knowing that Leah wouldn't be in a great mood after her team's performance.

"We are better than that you know" Leah seamed angry, but kept her tone very calm around Y/N "I won't let that take anything away from tonight though" the midfielder added opening her car door for the actress.

"Quite the gentlewoman I got here" replied, giving Leah a kiss on the cheek before getting into the midfielders car "So, where are we off to tonight?" Y/N questioned the Arsenal skipper as she entered the drivers seat "I'm feeling sushi tonight" she answered "How about we go to your favourite sushi place?", a suggestion that came with implications.

"Are you sure?" Y/N asked "People have been narrowing in on us you know" It was true, at some point, so many outings together started to make less sense when both chucked it down to being just friends. Especially when most of these outings were of just the two of them. "What could go wrong?" Leah asked, a mischevious look in her face.

What about a whole lot - paparazzis flooding the restaurants entrance as the outing became public knowledge. Going out with famous people sure got thrilling, but leaving places out the back door to avoid paps wasn't as glamorous.

"Ok.. in hindsight" Leah grabbed onto Y/N's hands "it might have been a silly idea" she joked, trying to lighten the mood from a night that was clearly turning sour by the minute "Why are we hiding this" Y/N questioned, pointing to the both of them. Leah left speechless. Was there a reason? They surely knew what they were getting into after the first couple of dates... right?

"Now that you ask..." the midfielder rambled "we never really talked about what we are" she struggled to get words out. Y/N on the other hand had enough courage for the both of them "Well after the what... 20 dates?" Y/N guessed, having lost the count of the sleepless nights spent in Leah's apartment "I kinda guessed that we were well into dating" she finished, clearly not scared about the consequences this situationship would entail.

"So you would just.. tell them that? It's surely not that simple" the midfielder clearly had forgotten that like everyone else, Y/N was a person first. "You do know that I am one of your kind right?" Y/N joked getting herself ready to face the media "Let's get into trouble shall we"

Nrfth (1) - Dreams do come true

Summary: A dream shattered. A heart broken.

Pairing: Chris Evans x Actress!Reader

Characters: OC Tracey

Warnings: fangirling, nervous reader, language

A/N: This series is a “short” chapter story. It contains of a collection of drabbles.

>> Prologue

“You’ve got this babe. Go in there, show them what they are sign up for if they hire you, and blow their minds,” Tracey is as excited as you are. “I knew you are going to film movies with Chris Evans one day.”

“Trace, it’s only thanks to you and Noah. He’s…a genius. I looked like a movie star in his movie. I’ll be forever grateful for the chance I got because of you two.”

“Babe, invite me to one red-carpet event, call me your favorite bitch when they ask you who I am, and we are even,” she snickers.

“Fuck, I’m so nervous,” you chew on your lower lip. “What if I fuck this up? This could be the only chance to land a role in the Marvel universe. If I fail now, everyone will remember.”

“I’ll tell you this only once,” Tracy says. She cups your face and forces you to breathe with her. “You are beautiful, strong, talented, and the biggest bitch in the Marvel universe. You can kick ass.”

“I can’t kick ass during the casting,” you laugh at Tracey’s determined look. She believes in you like no one else. “But I’ll give my all to land the role. And, if I walk over the red carpet for the first time, you’ll be by my side.”

The door finally opens again. Another disappointed-looking girl steps outside, sighing deeply. She’s prettier than you, and you remember her face from a show you watched a few weeks ago. If she didn’t land the role. How shall you get it?

“Next,” the annoyed voice of the woman hosting the audition catches your attention. You tear your eyes away from the girl leaving without the role and focus on your chance.

“That’s me,” you confidentially say. This is it. Your chance to land a role.

If you do this right, you can film next to Chris Evans. Or at least be on the same set. Your agent said it’s possible that you never even meet Chris.

It doesn’t matter, though. Even if it’s a small role, you can say you made it. “Hi. I’m Y/N Y/L/N. You called my agent and—”

She raises her hand to stop you from talking too much. “Follow me. This way.”

She guides you toward a different room. You sigh. Maybe you don’t even get the chance to show them that you are a great actress.

“I-I thought you wanted me to come here.”

You follow her along the hallways, sighing as she won’t talk to you. “Go in there and read the lines we sent to your agent.” She finally says. The woman looks you up and down and gives you a half-smile. “Don’t freak out, okay? He’s only an actor.”

Holy fuck…no…really…holy fuck. Your breath hitches in your throat when you enter the room as Chris Evans stands there, holding the script in his hands.

“Ms. Y/L/N, welcome to the audition. You got the script we hope,” another woman asks.

“Yeah. Uh—thank you for giving me this chance. I got the script and practiced the lines,” you say.

Taking a deep breath, you open your bag to get the script out.

“Alright, can you read the first lines? Just to get into the scene?” the woman from earlier asks. She gives you a quick smile, knowing that you must be nervous around the star of the Marvel universe.

“Sure,” you hastily say. “I’ll enter the room, check the surroundings, and get my gun out,” you recite the entrance scene of your character. “Things get heated, I’m surrounded by Hydra agents, and then…a bullet hits me. The agents storm toward me right when…”

“I break through the wall,” Chris uses his captain voice. He strides towards you, looking you straight in the eyes. “Miss? Miss, are you alright?”

It’s Captain America looking at you, not the actor behind him.

“Captain America?” you fall into the roll. You pant and clutch your lower abdomen. “I got shot,” you fall to your knees, just like described in the script. “My partner…I need to find him, Captain.”

“You got hurt.”

“I can do this…” you whisper, faking losing consciousness. “Please, Captain. Don’t let them get him.”

That’s the end of the script for you. You want to end the scene and get back up. But Chris drops the script in his hands to pick up in bridal style.

It’s a struggle to not squeal, swoon, or drool when he carries you toward the couch in the room. He’s still in his role when he looks at you in his arms.

“I’ve got you,” he ends the scene with his line, and you are sure your heart stops beating for a moment when he leans closer to whisper. “I can do this all day…”

“HOLY FUCK BABE!” Tracey raises her glass at you. “You are going to be a famous movie star and bang Chris Evans.”

“Babe, I won’t bang anyone. And my role is still small. I don’t even know if my character will survive the first episode,” you try to make her see, this role can mean your breakthrough or just a few bucks on your bank account. “You know how it is. The sidekick always ends up dead…”

This is a beautiful question and you have made my day: thank you for asking and come back whenever you want, whoever you are - you are always, always welcome!

... then you are touristically biased, Anon. And that is ok, to some extent and not really your fault, because this is exactly what they will have you listen to, when you make the childish mistake to book that Greek Evening on your cruise or tour. For some unfathomable reason, this is what they imagine foreign guests should be shown. But then there is music for their and their friends' souls, something completely different and a whole universe to discover.

This is Greek music to me, Anon:

The best Greek female voice of all times (Callas does not count, for innumerable reasons, we do not discuss a Goddess), Our Lady of the Rebetiko: Haris (it means Grace, by the way) Alexiou. A true Dame Blanche, witty, warm and rightfully worshipped. When I was first introduced to her, I was so moved I almost couldn't open my mouth in awe. I was stupidly glued to my French formulaic praise and I remember I just mumbled something along the lines of 'eh merde alors, fuck it, I just wanted you to know that to me, you are not only the voice of my teenage years: you are the Voice of Time itself'. She laughed and the rest is, as they say, history.

This happened in November 2018, after one of her concerts at the Gazarte hall in Athens: a dificult comeback for her, after a cancer scare. We were very moved and fangirling AF, my Culture and Press colleague (remember her from the Mycenae story? Greek music made us instant friends - I was the only one to know what she was talking about) and I:

I have blurred my former colleague's face. I am not sure she wants to be seen on Tumblr, LOL. And see, Anon? I really look like an overwhelmed twat, in this pic. Chances are I'd look the same at Landcon 2025 (what was the last price, 149 euros? Sweet Baby Jesus, the results).

Haroula's one time lover (speculation is still rife and many shipped those two during the late Eighties and early Nineties, unaware it was completely true) and probably the Greek equivalent of Sinatra is George Dalaras. A., my colleague, is absolutely nuts about him and as such a big, boisterous presence in this man's fandom. She follows him just about everywhere (I didn't understand her and residually still don't, to be honest), so it's not a surprise I quickly got to meet the guy, after one of his extraordinary stunts at the Klimataria, a well-known tavern and rebetiko joint smack dab in downtown Athens (I think it was one week before I met and befriended Haroula, funny that):

Now, he looks like a banker. But back in 1993, he looked and sang like this:

This is his greatest hit, if you ask me. Βαμμένα Κόκκινα Μαλλιά (Dyed Red Hair) is the score of a very successful Greek TV series during the Nineties (don't ask, it's very syrupy) and legit one of the most beautiful Greek love songs ever written. But unlike A, I am completely chilled as far as Dalaras is concerned and I think it showed, when we met. He offered an autograph and I said no, just because I am completely dumb, like that. The trouble is, he gently remembered me and he always brought it up every single time we met (at a couple of events and receptions) - how's that for totally embarrassing, eh?

And then you have the opera divas, among which is my dear friend Sonia Theodoridou, one of the best Greek sopranos after Callas. Sonia came back to Athens after a rich career in Germany right in the middle of the economic crisis turmoil. Things were not easy for her and I have to say, bless her heart, she is not an easy person, either (which opera singer is, mind you?). But her voice is magical and she loves to play with it. See what she can do with a really meh song, written and successfully performed by Pandelis Pandelidis, the one-time local Justin Bieber (he unfortunately died in 2016, in a motorcycle accident):

The strange instrument you see in the clip is a Cretan lyra, by the way. I hate it with a passion. But I still love Sonia, no matter what.

We shared a lot of things, Sonia and I. Here is our first pic, together with her ex-husband, Theodoros (still a friend):

These people are those I personally know and like/love. I haven't told you anything yet about the formidable, mythical Maria Farantouri, Mikis Theodorakis' muse or Vicky Moscholiou, another diva (different niche, though). Nothing about Miltos Paschalidis, either, the mathematician turned singer or Alkinoos Ioannidis, perhaps the best Cypriot voice after George Michael. The only reason I won't, for now at least, is that I don't really like mammoth posts. And this is quickly turning into one of those.

But I digressed. You asked me about my favorite Greek song, Anon. It's Manos Hatzidakis' Kemal - a masterpiece with a strong, subversive political message in the guise of an Oriental cruel parable:

Do I know it by heart? Of course I do (and I always, always cry, because I am a sentimental idiot, like that). Singing along with the locals at concerts, in taverns, in your car, on that bus ride, is a mandatory part of the Greek experience. And the most heartfelt homage you can pay to all those wonderful men and women who make our world a brighter, better place.

Armin: On that day, mankind received a grim reminder. We lived in fear of the Titan–

Eren: Armin you really don't have to start every episode with that.

Mikasa: Hey, he enjoys it, let him be.

Eren: I shall obey.

Armin laughing: welcome! To the second episode of this podcast! Again here we talk about our time in the show Attack on Titan, and as you already heard her voice, our special surprise guest for today is the one and only, Mikasa!

Eren cheering: the queen herself has blessed us!

Mikasa: Well, thank you, I am happy to be here.

Armin: So for you who don't know, since everyone will be asking this in the comments, yes, they are a couple in real life, and yes, they did meet on set, and yes, they are engaged, you could've known all of that if you follow them on Instagram.

Mikasa laughing: I mean you could've announced it a little bit more cheerful.

Eren: yeah what's up Armin–

Armin: don't even try Eren, and I will be your best man, you really don't have a choice.

Eren: Oh boy.

Mikasa: I do, actually, there were so many replicas of the scarf, because it kept tearing up because of all the stunts we were doing.

Eren whispering: she's the only one who did all of her stunts.

Mikasa shaking her head: and yeah because of the stunts, we had to have many scarves, which, I have them all. And before Eren starts complaining yes I do have them in our house–

Eren: They are everywhere!

Mikasa: But I am looking into turning them into pillows or something!

Armin laughing: you have a wedding to plan.

Mikasa: I know! I know! But hear me out, I do, in fact, still have the scarf from that very first episode.

Armin: awwww.

Mikasa: because it means so much to me, it started my whole career, and it made me fall in love with that guy over there.

Eren: didn't take long to charm her! A scarf was all it took.

Armin: genuinely still baffled how she said yes.

Eren laughing: hey what do you know about love? We were meant to be!

Armin: yes yes, actually, they are the reason why I still believe in love, they have something… that I've never seen before, they are the true embodiment of love and respect.

Eren: Is your goal making me cry?

Eren: Ok, that was quick.

Mikasa: yeah that was quick.

Armin: I mean, come on, the female titan is the coolest of all titans.

Eren: well my favorite titan is definitely my own titan, because that's the coolest thing of all time, and by the way, I think this photo did it's circulation around the internet already, but my final titan form, the whole head, was not CGI, the set designers actually built that, like the whole titan head, and the inside of it, for the final scene of my character, and it was so cool.

Armin: we had great talents on set, I mean, the set designs and all that, like, despite having all the generated effects in post, so many great locations and in-camera effects were shot on set, and all of it was absolutely mind blowing, they brought back filmmaking techniques from decades ago and merged it with current technology and the result was mind-blowing.

Mikasa: our whole village, in Shiganshina was built in a sound stage, and we cried when they had to ruin it for the third season haha.

Armin: yeah we did, I remember that, it felt like they were destroying our own home, it was ridiculous.

Eren: Mikasa.

Mikasa: yes.

Eren: What's your favorite titan?

Mikasa: well…

Eren: I know your answer.

Mikasa: it's actually the armored titan.

Eren: excuse you-

Mikasa: when we were kids, seeing it in the final movie and all that, for me, at that time, or even now, it was magic.

Eren: Sure, so, again from Tumblr, what was your first reaction when you read the finale script for the first time? Armin has a good answer for this.

Armin: I do, so, we do read the manga, so we already knew the ending, but having the final script in our hands, in my hand, it was a strange sense of fulfillment. I mean, working on a project for over ten years, by the end of those years, you are excited to be done with this project and try other projects and explore more fields, but it's hard, it's not easy.

Mikasa: I like to think of it as moving away to college, all the fights you have with your parents and you just want to move away and you have this great fantasy of a wild college life, then you are hit with the reality and as the date of moving out comes closer, you want to push it away.

Eren: yeah, yeah, exactly, we are all looking forward to our next projects, and what life holds for us, but a huge part of us is still on that set.

Armin: yeah… you guys will make me cry.

Mikasa: aw, no, hey listen, we are still here, cheers to that?

Eren: cheers to that indeed! Also, by the way, Mikasa and Armin were the only ones to actually go to college and keep up with our crazy shooting schedule.

Mikasa: and we graduated with great grades.

Eren: ok ok you don't have to rub it in my face.

Armin: I'll be the first to sign a petition for Eren to go to college.

Eren: naaaah, that's just not meant for me.

When Eyes Meet- Kise Ryota

A/N: Alright, someone actually expressed interest in having this one-shot series finished but I have not received an answer yet when I asked if they had a preference for the next guy so I'm picking Kise! The specific soulmate concept comes from ElfQuest, in case this is actually the first time you came across this series :) Aomine - Murasakibara - Kagami - Kuroko - Akashi - Midorima

As long as mankind had existed, everyone had a second name. The name of their soul. It was a well-guarded secret one might only share with their family and friends as close as blood. However, there was a special instance that exposed one soul name to another, called Recognition. This occured when two people locked eyes with each other and somehow they would know the other's soul name. This is what society calls 'the moment you knew you found your soulmate'. There seemed to be no pattern or rules about how the concept worked. Some people did the moment they met someone, but others would Recognize someone they had known all their lives. Recognition just happened. But one thing was for sure, Recognized couples seemed to have the true love out of a fairy tale. It was something that seemed to evade you. You chalked it up to boys being too intimidated or focused on your beauty to actually properly see you. You were the prettiest girl at Kaijo and used to be a model when you were younger. You hated the toxic fashion industry though and quit during middle school. It wasn't all that bad though, as through modelling you met your best friend, Kise Ryota. In a sea of boys either too intimidated or horny, he seemed to be the only guy who treated you normally. A breath of fresh air. He always listened and understood, even when it were very girly topics like how your middle school classmate, Hitachin Kiki, had made your life a living hell because she was envious of you being prettier then her. It was because of him, that you attended Kaijo anyways. You liked attending school with your best friend, but currently, you were annoyed at the fangirls who just didn't seem to learn. They were squealing around his table, all having a bento box prepared for him. You sighed in irritation as you neared his table, your own bento box in hand. "Ryota, shall we eat lunch together? You don't want to believe what Momoi told me the other day." As his friend, Kise allowed you to call him by his first name and had introduced you to the GOM before. Because you and Momoi were stuck in a pretty similar boat, you had quickly gotten along. The girls all glared at you as Kise stood up with the bento box one of his sisters had prepared for him, neither in need of their bento boxes or wanting to try out their cooking. Kise didn't cared for them at all, and often, the two of you would secretly giggle about them behind their backs. It might be a little cruel, but they made it hard. Their dislike of you didn't earn any sympathy either. As the two of you strode off to your favorite spot on campus, Kise seeming a little extra quiet today. "OI! What's got you down in the dumps? Where's my ray of sunshine?" You teased him lightly, grinning. Kise refused to look at you, which got you to halt him dead in his tracks with our hands on your hips. "Kise Ryota, spill it!" He sighed. "I just feel guilty every now and then." You frowned, confused. "About what?" "You. I know you're into music and that Kaijo has a terrible music program. I just feel like you could be thriving as I am at basketball if you were in a school with a better program and I know I am the only reason why you are here in the first place." You blinked, feeling touched but you didn't like that look on his face. "Ryota," you said tenderly, "Success matters nothing to me if it means I have to stay away from the place where I've been treated with kindness I've never know before. I know you have respected me from the very beginning and that means so much to me." "Of course I have. Do you know how much I admire you from daring to quit modelling? You could have used your modelling connections to become an idol yet you choose freedom. I have never seen someone so wise as you, other then Kurokocchi." You chuckled at that and as you looked fondly into one another's eyes, it happened. "Fohn?" Kise asked as he looked at you, and you felt the shivers down your back as he spoke your soul name. "Yes, Gyl?" You asked, giggling out of the delightul shock, something he silenced as he kissed you. It was as magical indeed.

Story: When The World Is Crashing Down

Paring: Aegon Targaryen x Reader

Where did the idea for When The World Is Crashing Down come from?

For a long time (since last spring, at least), I’ve had kind of a vague inspiration for a story that would take place between Rook’s Rest and the end of the war, essentially chronicling all the destruction that the Greens endure and how Aegon would cope with it. I had a sense that there could be a deeply honorable, romantic story somewhere in the midst of all the large-scale horror.

Then—around the time I was finishing Comet Donati at the end of the summer—one day I had a vivid scene pop into my mind, and true to my usual writing modus operandi, it was at the end of the story: a woman who is just emotionally demolished, crossing a field as sparse snowflakes begin falling to meet her supposed rescuer, Cregan Stark. He thinks it’s this wonderful reunion, while she feels like it’s the end of the world. Once I saw that scene, I knew I’d have to write this series immediately. It just possessed me!

For the first month I was working on WTWICD, I listened almost exclusively to Fall Out Boy’s second album, From Under The Cork Tree. The songs are absolutely riddled with anxiety, self-loathing, violence, desolation, pride, lust, and defiance in the face of defeat. That album helped shape the general tone of the series and, of course, gave it its title as well.

You have notoriously stated before that the vivid scene for inspires an entire story. What are your next steps? What were the pivotal moments that had to happen in WTWICD?

So once that first scene occurs to me, I know I have a week or two of really powerful momentum in terms of figuring out the major arc of the story, so I take advantage of that and get right to work making a chapter list and brief character notes. I knew that the series was a bit like a circle in that it would start the same way it ended: ashes would be falling instead of snow, Aemond would be taking her captive instead of Cregan, and Angel would be mistaken for a Green instead of being wrongly assumed to be a Black. I also knew that I wanted WTWICD to (generally) follow the same canon events as Fire & Blood, so I matched each chapter to the actual events from the war, and then had another bullet point beneath with a description of what would be happening with Angel, Aegon, and the other characters that are the heart of this story.

In those first few weeks, I’ll hear a lot of random snippets of dialogue that I swiftly jot down in my Word Doc under the heading of whichever chapter I feel it will likely end up in. One of the very first quotes for this series was Aegon’s greeting to Angel in Chapter 1: “Hello angel, welcome to the end of the world.” These quotes help flesh out the story and transform requisite general events, like Angel meeting Aegon when he is near death after Rook’s Rest, into specific scenes. And then for any necessary detail that I don’t have an instinctive answer for, I start researching.

For example, here’s how I determined that Angel was a Celtigar. I did some Fire & Blood research to see which Westerosi families were allied with the Blacks vs. the Greens. I knew I needed a family that started out on the Blacks’ side and stayed there, and also wasn’t already decimated by the time Rook’s Rest happened, so that narrowed it down somewhat. I had felt that the vibes of the fic were oceanic, yet bleak—grey mist, rocky cliffs, rough waves—so I was leaning towards Angel being from the Crownlands. I stumbled upon the Celtigar family (having never heard of them before to my recollection) and was so excited! Firstly, I loved that Angel would be Valyrian, though not in an obvious way; the Celtigars, after being shunned by the Targaryens and Velaryons, intermarried with non-Valyrian houses until their features weren’t so distinct. Secondly, the crab metaphor was perfect. I had already known that the theme of perpetual resurrection—rebirth/reinvention that is repeated, though not necessarily leaving the person better off—would be present in this story, and crabs molting was symbolic of that. (Also, I’m from Maryland originally, so I appreciate crabs more than your average person, haha.)

Then for Angel’s faux family (Thorne), I knew I needed a Crownlands house that was loyal to the Greens throughout the war, which narrowed the options down considerably. I wanted a Crownlands house because I thought Angel, as a very academically smart person, would be savvy enough to know that another Crownlands family would share her accent/appearance/general knowledge more than someone from the Reach or the Riverlands, thus making her lies less likely to be detected. I also loved that Thorne (as in rose thorns) could be a subtle nod to a previous series of mine that was a Wars of the Roses AU: Now I’m Covered In You.

Tell me about your Aegon interpretation. Why is he the way he is in When The World Is Crashing Down?

Aegon is someone who has already gone through a number of transformations before Angel ever meets him. He is an innocent child, an unloved and mistreated adolescent, a man who succumbs to his worst vices, and then an aspiring hero who is trying his absolute hardest to live up to being king after his coronation. When he is wounded so horrible and painfully at Rook's Rest, Aegon is at the point where he's just ready for his suffering to be over. He got a brief taste of greatness and then was knocked back down to being useless and in agony all over again; he's accepted that his story is over.

Angel saves Aegon’s life literally, but she also gives him an opportunity to be honorable in a way that he hasn’t fully been able to before. She never knew him before his maiming, so she has no memories of his drunkenness, whoring, or any other sins. She is kind and gentle, and she sees Aegon as someone desirable and brave, particularly when she gives him (unintentionally) the opportunity to be her rescuer: from the brothel, from Cregan Stark, and from the world itself. Once they’ve met, Aegon is motivated by Angel—and the future they hope to have together—to be the greatest version of himself yet: someone who can both give and accept love in its purest form.

It is Aegon's love for Angel that compels him to fight to stay alive even under the most dire circumstances and when hope seems irrational. He's not doing it for himself; he's doing it for her.

What about Aemond? How is his relationship with Aegon?

Oh Aemond. The duality of man. Throughout this series, we see evidence that Aemond has all sorts of negative feelings towards Aegon. He feels that Aegon is physically weak, intellectually unimpressive, morally corrupted, and just generally unworthy of being king. However, at the same time, Aemond loves Aegon and is entirely loyal to him. Aemond borrows the crown when Aegon is unable to rule, but he never tries to take it. Aemond will flirt with and proposition Angel, but he never tries to get her to actually leave Aegon. And each time Aegon is wounded, we see that Aemond not only cares for him physically, but tries to uplift his spirits and carry out his wishes. We see Aemond hunting for a healer and then helping to clean Aegon’s wounds at Rook’s Rest. We also see him comforting Angel and stopping her from treating Aegon’s bleeding, shattered legs on Dragonstone (which is what Aegon begs for him to do in High Valyrian). Finally, we see Aemond’s repeated denial that Aegon might not survive the war. Daeron, Larys, and Autumn are all pragmatic enough to discuss it, but Aemond isn’t. His love for Aegon is too great.

Aemond’s interest in Angel is 50% ego-driven. He knows that she prefers Aegon to him, but if he can win her affection, he scores a figurative victory over his elder brother and gets to feel worthy/superior. This impulse (which isn’t necessarily something Aemond is consciously aware of) only intensifies once he learns that Angel is a Celtigar and therefore of Valyrian ancestry. But that means that his obsession with her is also 50% inspired by her intellect, skill, courage, and dedication to Aegon, all things that Aemond highly values. Angel never has any romantic feelings for Aemond, although he does increasingly become a source of strength, guidance, and comfort for her as Aegon’s health deteriorates. But he is definitely a little in love with her, even if that emotion is in large part merely a manifestation of his own inferiority complex.

What characters in your story that you enjoy writing?

Aemond “There are other Targaryens” Targaryen was definitely my favorite character to write in this series. He is a menace!! But a menace who is also loyal, clever, vulnerable, capable, flawed, and—it must be said—very, very nice to look at.

I really enjoyed writing Daeron too, who I envision as similar to who Aegon would have grown up to be had he not been beaten down by so much emotional and physical trauma. Daeron’s a ray of sunshine who is also an unrepentant war criminal, energetic and arrogant and a diehard warrior for his family. He jokes around with Aegon, but strategizes (or at least attempts to) with Aemond, recognizing the role that each brother plays in the family.

Finally, I loved Autumn! She was essential to Angel’s survival—street smart instead of book smart, experienced instead of sheltered and naïve—and while Autumn’s arc is tragic in some ways, she gets one of the happiest endings in the series.

Was Angel ever relieved of her guilt of what she did for Aegon?

Oh no, Angel felt horribly guilty for betraying Aegon, and I don't think she gets over that in her lifetime.

Aegon is definitely aware of Aemond’s interest in Angel, but isn’t especially concerned about it. He’s used to Aemond coveting the things he’s been given and feels that the Aemond-Angel dynamic is just the latest iteration of that lifelong pattern. Aegon relies upon Aemond both emotionally and physically—all the Greens do, as he and Vhagar are the muscle behind their war effort—and ultimately trusts him to do the right thing. Aegon doesn’t suspect that Angel would ever consent to being more than tentative allies with Aemond; it’s not even on his radar.

She acted impulsively in a moment of great emotional turmoil and misdirected desperation to help the Greens win the war and, in my mind, Aemond bears the responsibility of manipulating her into making that decision. (Even ghost Aemond alludes to regretting how he handled that situation in Chapter 12!) But Angel personally feels that she was disloyal to the love of her life, and wasted time that she should rightfully have spent with Aegon doing something that would have hurt him instead.

And she never gets to confess to Aegon, so she never gets the absolution of his forgiveness (which he undoubtedly would have given, under the circumstances).

What inspired Angel?

I love writing “readers” from all sorts of backgrounds and perspectives; we’re all unique people, and “readers” should be too!

Angel is the archetypal poor little rich girl. She has material comforts, but is ultimately ill-suited and dissatisfied with life as a noblewoman. She floats around aimlessly with nothing to look forward to (except her eventual marriage to a stranger, of course) until her brother Everett is nearly killed in a fire when she’s fifteen years old. Healing gives Angel a hobby, a purpose, and a sense of agency (indeed, the power to save or end lives) in a world where she has vanishingly little control over her own fate.

At the beginning of the series, Angel has a profound fear of sexual intimacy. I think this is something that would have been very real to women in a situation like hers, but isn’t often spoken or written about. She doesn’t have much knowledge of how sex works, and what she does know is pretty discouraging: women who are resigned, at best, or tortured at worst, with blood stains on sheets, death or disfigurement in childbirth, and being physically completely at the mercy of an older, larger man who you didn’t choose for yourself. It’s the stuff of nightmares! I once stumbled upon a Reddit threat of people sharing stories of their 90-year-old grandmas not knowing what an orgasm is, and it just completely broke my heart. I wanted to give voice to all the girls and women throughout history who have been robbed of agency over their own bodies and pleasure in sex.

Angel’s journey is a circle: she begins fearful, then becomes intrigued as her feelings for Aegon grow and she realizes she trusts him. (I think it’s significant that the two men Angel loves most, Aegon and Everett, are both disabled and therefore physically not as threatening to her.) She gets to experience informed, enthusiastic consent and pleasure, and then that joy is slowly taken from her as Aegon grows weaker.

And at the end of the story, Angel is back to where she started: forced to give herself to a man she didn’t choose—and he can have her whenever, however, and wherever he wants her—and without expectations of pleasure, only pain and resignation.

Do you feel Angel and Aegon complement one another?

Angel compliments Aegon because she is both clever and resilient enough to heal his body, but also provides him with opportunities to be a hero and prove his worth, not to her but to himself. She needs him to save her from danger, she looks to him for reassurance when she is fearful, and she relies upon him to be king when the war is over and therefore ensure their happy future together. She is, to Aegon, the perfect balance of strength and weakness.

What Angel gains from the relationship is someone who she actually admires and desires, but also someone who values her for who she really is. Aegon likes Angel regardless of who her family is and what her political affiliations might once have been; he does not care about heirs, bloodlines, prestige, obedience, or power. With Aegon, Angel knows that her own desires and feelings will always be first and foremost. That’s a rare thing to find in a Westerosi marriage.

Was there any contentment with her marriage to Cregan Stark?

I don’t feel that Angel ever found anything like happiness in the North. Several readers commented that they believed she was only existing with Cregan for the rest of her earthly days, not truly living, and I think that’s accurate. Cregan Stark never questions the narrative that he saved her from the immoral, violent, rapist Usurper, and in Winterfell Angel would have had to hear—from servants, from guards, from her husband, from her children once they were old enough to know the story—comments about how horrible Aegon was an how honorable Cregan was for ensuring his defeat and “rescuing” Angel. So her loss (and the fact that it’s this indescribably heavy secret she has to carry around with her) is a wound that is ripped open again and again and again. She can never develop a sense of fondness for Cregan, because she can never forget his hatred for and his role in killing the man she loved. She can never truly get joy from her children because they are just like Cregan: large, loud, rugged, dark-haired wolf pups who repeat the fictions they’ve always been told were truths. It’s a very hollow, soulless existence for Angel.

But of course the bright side is that because she remains alive and has some influence over Cregan’s political decisions: Angel is able to protect Jaehaera, Autumn, and other Greens after their faction’s defeat. She is also able to share the true legacy of the Greens with Jaehaera once Aegon’s daughter is older. Jaehaera otherwise wouldn’t really understand their true motivations, personalities, or gifts, nor the love they shared for each other; she was a child when most of the Greens died, and Autumn would not have felt comfortable sharing what little she knew at risk of endangering her ability to stay at court with Jaehaera. We can assume that Angel was eventually reunited with Aegon (and her other lost loved ones) in the afterlife, and so there is some happiness in the long run.

Angel definitely showed some magic in her Valyrian blood: we saw her dreams with Aemond, Helaena, and Daeron, but when Aegon told her, “If there’s anything interesting on the other side, I’ll find a way to let you know," was this what you were referring to at the end with, "…dreams that you never want to wake up from."

Yes! That is exactly what I was referencing, and I was thrilled that so many readers picked up on it. 🥰 It’s the closest we get to a “happily ever after” in this fic.

Celtigars are the black sheep of the Westerosi Valyrians. They’re glorified pirates as opposed to royalty or well-regarded merchants, and they aren’t nearly as magical at Targaryens or Velaryons. In the ASOIAF canon, there are no references to a Celtigar ever riding a dragon or joining the Targaryen bloodline. Angel was never going to be a dragonrider (she hates them!). But Angel does have some very subtle magical abilities that show up occasionally, and the dreams are one of them. After the events of WTWICD, for the rest of Angel’s life she is really only a shell of herself (not me making crab puns!), but dreams of Aegon give her comfort and remind her of the promise that she will see the people she loves again one day.

In Angel’s dreams, the ghosts appear in settings that they were attached to in life. Helaena was in the gardens with her insects, Aemond was in the rookery hard at work writing his letters, and Daeron (the closest thing this family has to a sunshine personality) was on a warm summer beach with Tessarion, exactly like he was the first day he ever met Angel. I feel that when Aegon appeared to Angel in her dreams, he was probably on Dragonstone, invoking memories of those idyllic first few months they got to spend alone together before Aemond started showing up (uninvited) and the battle with Baela and Moondancer.

In addition to the dreams, I think that Angel has some very slight clairvoyance. Even in the early chapters—and even as his burns are healing—she was always filled with this heavy dread regarding Aegon’s long-term health, and the threat of organ failure after repeated trauma is something that crosses her mind over and over again. She even mentions it to her brother Everett in Chapter 6. Part of her, I believe, always knew on some level that he wasn’t going to live to see a peaceful world.

Out of all your "Readers" so far, which one do you feel you relate to the most?

Out of all my readers, I think I personally relate the most to Appletini from North to the Future.

Our situations are different in a lot of ways (sadly, scruffy Juneau fisherman/rockstar Aegon is not real nor in love with me), but I think we share a) an innate fixation on responsibility and aversion to risk, and b) a sense that there is something more out there that we are always wrestling with. Do we take the leap, or do we stay where we are? Are we worthy of more? Are we doomed to relive the curses of prior generations? That sounds a little dark, probably, but I don’t mean for it to. Appletini gets a happy ending, after all!

I love your blog, it brings me a lot of joy, especially since my watching K-dramas has brought shame down upon the family name etc. etc. XD It’s nice to see someone else enjoying them (and publicly!)

Since following your blog I’ve made an odd realization: I love Korean zombie movies/shows. Kingdom, Train to Busan, and Happiness among others. I actively SEEK OUT Korean zombie movies/shows, but I absolutely hate American zombie movies/shows. I’m really not sure where the divide is, or why it even exists—it’s been a while since I’ve watched any American zombie media. I wondered what your perspective on the matter would be? Is there a difference that you see in American vs Korean zombie media?

Hmm, interesting question. I was thinking about this a bit myself because I dislike horror (I hate being scared) but I don't mind zombies, vampires, werewolves etc. my favourite movie of all time is Underworld (vampires vs. zombies). I think what really makes me scared is people, because they are real. But then I'm terrified of The Ring (someone tricked me into watching it, I ran away at some point). I'd rather watch the zombie parts in Happiness than the serial killer parts in Strong Woman Bong-soon...

But as to your question, I think I like both? I watched all of the Resident Evil series, Zombieland, I read the comics of The Walking Dead (hated the show) until the Governor plot line got too dark, I loved Shaun of the Dead... I'd say the American ones have more violence but then Kingdom shot at zombies with canons...

I think both Kingdom and Happiness did a really good job of using zombies to point at problems in society. The king in Kingdom becoming a true puppet, not even capable of rational thought and the way they considered the village people so subhuman that they had no compunction turning them into monsters to turn a war. And then Happiness making us think about class, wealth, and pandemic response while the zombies happen within it. So well written!

So I guess I don't know? Anyone else have ideas?

Edit: I loved Warm Bodies, both the movie and book. That was a really interesting take on zombies too! Also, enjoyed both the movie and graphic novel of I Am Legend, though the book is a far more interesting story.

You couldn’t stop bouncing in your seat, making your group mates laugh at you. Today was the day you were doing a variety show with your favorite group, Ateez. You’ve always wanted to work with them and now you finally got to! It’s like a dream come true! You can’t wait to finally meet everyone! You just couldn’t stop fidgeting with excitement!

“Are you going to act like a crazy fangirl when we meet them too?” Miyun asked with a chuckle.

Blushing, you looked away. “Eh, so what if I do? I’m just excited! Let me have my fun! It’s not like I’m that crazy.”

“It’s cute seeing you this happy,” Lina commented, not looking up from her phone. “Perhaps you’ll even get to see Yunho today.”

“Well, duh! He is part of Ateez, you know!”

“He’s also your bias and crush” Both of them started laughing, making you bury your face in your hands to hide your blush. So what if he was your bias and possibly your crush? Honestly, you just wanted to meet him more than anything! You just hope you won’t embarrass yourself in front of him or make him hate you in any way, shape, or form. You don’t think you could live with yourself if you gave him a bad impression of you.

As the car rolled up to the studio where you would be filming, you practically lept from your seat to get inside as soon as possible. You were just too excited to wait any longer! As your two other members continued laughing at your antics, you were determined to make a good first impression before those two messed it up for you! Those two will not ruin your chance to look like a professional artist in front of Ateez and your bias!

“Hello! Are you from Beyond Infinity?” A woman at the front desk asked you as you entered the building. You nodded, before bowing. Her smile widened as she handed you a little folded card. “Here’s your special challenge for during the broadcast. Everything you’ll need to complete it will be in your green room.”

“Thank you.” You bowed again as you took the card and she walked away to greet Miyun and Lina. This variety show gave every participant special challenges before filming to be completed during the duration of the show. If they didn’t complete it or couldn’t do it for some reason, they’d be punished at the end of the show. Each member of the group gets to come up with an idea for the other members in their group and submit it. The producers then pick from the ones submitted for what that member will do. It was super fun and you were kind of excited to see what you would have to do!

However, once in the green room, you looked at your special challenge and frowned. So much for the special challenge being fun. Written in both Miyun AND Lina’s unmistakable handwriting was to kiss Yunho somewhere visible and leave a lipstick stain in some crazy color. Of all the things they could’ve dared you to do, it had to be this…

“Hey, did you get your special challenge?” Lina asked, attempting to sound innocent, as she entered the room.

You gave her a shove, effectively having her collide with Miyun, who was frowning at her own card while she entered. “How could you two betray me like this? What if he doesn’t like it or thinks I’m some weirdo because of this! You accused me of being a crazy fan in the car and yet this is the stunt you pull? Thanks a lot!”

Miyun looked up, still frowning. “Are you talking about the dare? Hey, it’s not that bad. No what is bad is my dare. Honestly, what were you thinking Lina? How am I going to sing a duet with Jongho? Isn’t it kind of weird to just burst into song with your bias? This isn’t some musical, Lina! People don’t just randomly burst into song.”

“Please! Y/n’s just as mean! She wants me to ballroom dance with Yeosang!” Lina wailed, her head falling into her hands as the card fluttered to the ground. “I can’t just ask him to dance with me like that! It’ll be weird!”

“I think we can all agree we got some pretty weird dares,” You exclaimed, trying to keep them calm. “Why don’t we all go down as a team and not do our dares. It’ll be easier that way.”

“Oh, no no no no no!” Miyun jabbed her finger at you. “We’re expecting that kiss! We’ve had to hear you go on and on about your bias crush and I’ll be damned if we leave here with nothing. Lina and I BOTH decided on this so you HAVE to do it. Two against one.”

You let out a whine. “But what if I don’t want to!”

Lina rolled her eyes and heaved a sigh. “Fine, here’s the deal: We’ll do our dares if you do yours, no matter how embarrassing they might be. Got it?”

“Ugh, fine!” You groaned

Well, at least the broadcast started out great. There was a small hiccup when the MC asked why you were wearing bright orange lipstick, but you managed to wave it off like it was part of the ensemble you were wearing. At least you rocked this shade of orange. Despite this, you were practically dying from excitement. Being in the same room as Ateez was like a dream come true and you were trying your absolute hardest to hold it all in and not let out a shriek. But every once in a while you’d catch Yunho’s eye, and you’d remember your dare, making the both of you blush. You wondered if you really could do your dare afterall.

Mingi already got his dare out of the way first, by trying to do the worm and failing hilariously. Then San did his dare, which was to fake propose to Wooyoung before saying it was a proposal for Miyun instead. The betrayal on Wooyoung’s face was priceless and you’re so glad they got it on video! You don’t know how she did it, but during a transition, Lina got to dance with Yeosang, leaving them both watching each other with red faces across the room for the rest of the show. Hongjoong tried to pick up Yunho and carry him to the other end of the room but ultimately failed, Yunho almost crushing him. Seonghwa somehow got Miyun to have a mini rap battle with him, which he lost because Miyun is a rapper you do NOT want to mess with. Yeosang sang Lina’s solo part in our debut song, and he absolutely nailed it! She was so proud of him when he was done, making his cheeks a brighter red. Everyone beat Jongho in an impromptu aegyo battle and Lina was pulled into a reenactment of some cheesy Kdrama scene with Wooyoung. All in all, it was pretty fun to watch as we also completed the segments of the show that were already scheduled.

As Miyun finished her duet with Jongho, you realized that it was just you and Yunho left. Lina and Miyun kept poking you and giving you sideways glances that told you time was running out to do your dare. You could either die a martyr and do your punishment alone or do your dare and ruin any chance you might have had with your “bias crush”. Was it really worth it? The possibility of holding your punishment over their heads was tempting, but at the same time, you didn’t want to get punished.

Taking deep breaths to try and calm yourself down, you finally made up your mind to go ahead and get it over with, like ripping off a band-aid. When all of you transitioned to the last segment of the show, you stepped up to Yunho, grabbed his shirt, and placed the biggest kiss you could muster on his cheek. You ignored the sounds of everyone else shouting and whooping at the two of you as you blushed and pulled away. Quickly bowing to hard your blush, you started to apologize profusely, when you felt him lift your head up gently by the chin.

“Okay, Y/n, I know that was a dare, but I do have to ask.” He took a deep breath before continuing, “Do you wish it were real? I mean the kiss. Like do you wish it was a real kiss, if that makes sense?”

Your jaw tried to drop in his hand and your heart practically stuttered to a stop. Was he being serious right now? Was your bias crush actually confessing to you? “Uh, y-yeah.”

He smiled softly, kicking your heart back into overdrive. “Good, because my dare was to confess to you. But I don’t want it to be a dare. I want it to be real. I want to really ask you out.”

Well, that was definitely unexpected.

When he noticed your vacant expression, he tried to explain frantically, “I’ve always admired you as a person and as a performer. After really meeting you today, I knew that my feelings for you were real and I’m willing to give it a shot if you are? You can say no. I’ll completely understand.”

You nodded dumbly, before being sucked back into the reality around you. Both Beyond Infinity and Ateez were hollering at Yunho’s confessions and the MC was asking the people working behind the camera if they got it on film. You swiftly pulled back to frantically say, “But what about your company? What about my company? Oh, they’re not going to be happy. We have a dating ban and-”

“I’m willing to wait if you are.” He replied sheepishly, giving a timid smile. “However long it takes.”

A real, genuine smile found itself onto your cheeks. “Yeah, I’d like that very much. But for now, friends?”

He nodded, intertwining his hand with your. “Best friends.”

Mingi threw his arm over his friend’s shoulder, startling the both of you. “We knew that dare would work!”

“I’m surprised Miyun and Lina dared you to kiss him though,” Yeosang added out of the blue. “Still, it was a great idea. I like the orange spot on your cheek, Yunho.”

“Oh,” You blushed as you noticed the embarrassing lipstick stain on his cheek. “I can clean it off if you like.”

“No, I like it. I think I’ll keep it as a reminder of what I have waiting for me after that dating ban of yours.” He winked, making you laugh.
