first, i think u two would be inseparable

like im talking sitting at each others tables during meals, training together all the time, sneaking off to go make out in his cabin when u really should be leading camp activities, sleeping in each other's cabins, etc etc

im just thinking of the iconic percabeth underwater kiss with u guys

with him using his powers to make sure u can breathe while u kiss, and teeth clashing together making u guys just giggle ur little hearts out

when u two go back to nyc for the school year u would live with him, sally, and paul and they would treat u like their own kid

they see how much percy likes you and how similar you two are and they cant help but think of u as one of their own

hanging out in nyc together, he teaches u how to skateboard bc he DEFINITELY knows how to

adding onto that, he would definitely teach u how to surf if u didnt know how

just thinking about if u also have the same music taste, u two dancing around the kitchen to ur favorite songs

making brownies together for estelle's school bake sales in the future!!! my heart omfg

back to camp, i think everyone would be worried if they ever saw u two not together

like im talking celebrity break up gossip page type all up in ur business

but then they see one of you sneaking out of the same place the other one just walked out of and they realize that u two were just trying to be sneaky???

but why

bc really u two have never been sneaky in ur entire lives

if either of u got picked to lead a quest, u would immediately pick the other as the first person to come with on ur quest bc u literally cannot live without each other

u werent THAT embarrassed bc like. everyone already knows anyway

but the stolls thought it was SO funny and they made it their mission to prank both of u again

when u two go on cabin inspections, even if u arent doing it together, u always give each other's cabin a 10 even tho u both know that neither of ur cabins deserve it ....

the two of u definitely sneak out of ur cabins at night when u arent together and sit down by the river, just to be met with the other sitting there with the exact same thought as u

and u end up going back to his cabin to sleep

u guys have definitely gotten yelled at by mr d and chiron

but u kept doing it

so they just gave up

but anyways, u guys r literally the it couple at camp

ur just such a perfect fit & u love each other so much and u cant help but show it

pjo tv show spoilers!!!

ahhhhh i just finished ep 8 and i have so many thoughts so be ready.

of course across the tv show there are things i love and things i dont necessary agree with but thats lofe and personal opinion so no hate from me here. cause if i too were rick and staftung reading through and adapting something i wrote about what 20 years ago i would change up plot holes and things that i thought would work better too.

i think all the actors were very talented and perfect for there roles.

i love the change of sally teaching percy mythology from a young age thats something i always thought that should of happened to begin with.

i didnt like the characterisation of gabe when watching the show if i hadnt read the books he was almost likeable i thought he was mildly funny i feel like they didnt make him cruel enough to justify the whole medusa thing.

loved the interactions between percy and grover before camp the lighting of percy in school without grover (blue toned) and percy in school with grover (warm toned) really showed how good of a friend he was. grover was so sweet and funny and had great lines cant wait to see him in a wedding dress.

loved percys interaction with mr d i thought it was totally in character and really was quite funny, mr d is just dying for that bottle of wine.

i didnt love the fact that everyone kinda avoided the topic that the gods igbored there children and arw pretty shitty for the majority of the tv show percy kept asking questions like the gods were like the average parent of anyone and no one thought to tell him 'hey percy the gods dont actually talk to their kids so thats why everyone gives you looks when you talk about there parents'.

thalia being pronounced the way it is threw me off but i knlw thats the actuall greek way of saying it so it dosent bother me (i will continue to pronounce it the way i do though)

i thought it was interesting that they had annabeth see the fates and not percy i don't have many comments on this just that it was interesting.

i loved the way they handled medusa and her story but still managed to make her a monster for percy to fight l, its a delicate line that i think they managed perfectly.

the arch i loved the way percy swapped places with annabeth great cinematic moment, i thought it was weird that they didnt have percy jump in trust of his dad xonsidering the way they have changed percys attitude towards gods as parents at the time during the show, but i thought the hand of posiedon saving him was great aswell.

also the arch being a temple of athena was a cool edition i thought they played athenas pettyness pretty good. i did like that annabeth wanted to go becuse architecture but i dont mind the change.

tunnel of love chefs kiss not more to be said really, other than hephaestus he gets it i always liked him as a god.

the way they had grover talk to ares and manipulate him into taking while also reading his emotions so cool i loved the edition so much and it really gave us an in look into both grover and ares as people.

the animal truck was nice i loved the percy and grover interactions about the animals thought it was funny. missed percy not talking to a zebra.

lotus hotel very cool loved the music choice, loved the design, cool that they know its the lotus eaters before they go in. loved the chat with hermes and grover meeting a satyr and playing his hunt the human game. the lost memorys gives a proper view into ehy people would stay there and not leave. also love the little 'bianca' and the two kids who ran past in purple shirts (romans??).

stealing hermes taxi to go to santa monica awesome, i questioned the choice of 4 pearls tp begin with cause i thought 'this will make the prophecy obsolete' but having watched it all now so good loved the choice cause of course posidon would never abandon his queen amongst mortals

the choic of them running out of time on there quest i dont understand was it necessary i dont think them having a day left still would have changed anything that still happened after show wise maybe a few conversations tweeked. (if anyone knows why let me know im curious)

crustys this was the only monster wich i didnt like the way they delt with, i think they had to do it this was as alot of this was percys thoughts in the book which they havent really been transfering to screen that well. i feel like we lost some of percts brutal fatal flaw here with him not killing him and his smarts of him convincing him to get in the bed and trap himself, thats percys thing see if annabeth has plan, persuasion, then fight.

also the underworld not being in DOA :( that was a cool idea so fun and its a pun but maybe for time issues they just resorted to crusty doesnt bother me that much but ill miss it.

percy not bartering with charon again taking away percys skill at persuasion. but not a big deal in long run (missed the drown in bath joke though)

the feilds of asphodel i thought jt was an interesting take, its described in the books as a really busy airports or station of some kind just loads of people standing everywhere. i tought ut was interesting that the souls became trees (does that mean hazel isnt a tree but just wanders amougst the trees?) the fact rhat they made it regrets aste what stick you in asphodel and turn you into a tree i didnt agree with asphodel is the place you go when your life is juat average not bad or evil and not heroic or extremely good, cause u telling me that any hero that goes to elysium dosent have regrets? also annabeth being the one with regrets weird take it should have been grover who regrets alot (thalia for example) but i get they did that cause like the books they were setting it up to look like annabeth was the traitor.

loved the inclusion story about luke hermes and may.

i loved the characterisation of hades i though he was quite accurate to how hades acts in the actual mythology and you can totally see where nico gets it from. just loved the whole interaction.

loved rhw choice of the pearls going back to manutak rather than santa monica.

the fight with ares loved kt was squeeling the entire time, ares beeing cocky and toying with percy, percy showing beast controll of the sea and finally the cut on ares ankle. but what aboutbthe curse! the curse ares puts on percys sword that bexomes relevent not onece but twice. that surely will mess up the fufillment if the prophecy for a possibel 3rd season as thats the whole reason he dosent fight atlas and takes the sky from artemis. so ill have to wait and see how they do that.

annabeth giving percy her beads 😊

calling children of the big three forbidden children its a nice edition that i like (kinda remids me of the fanfic son of seafoam)

the interaction with zeus pretty good liked it the way that zeus appears to be taking kronos somewhat seriously though, well we will se if that lasts.

posiedon stepping in and saving percy and then surrendering-- - my heart cant

pecry going back to camp and being celebrated great as he should. also live the percy luke flashbacks.

now my favourite way the show has changed the percy luke betrayal! i love the way thia changed i always thought that luke should have tried to recruit percy as he does in later books but percy dosent entertain as luke tried to kill him twice but i love that luke was all like percy we could run away and fight the gods. and thevlook on his face when annabeth throws a knife at him and the way percy sliced luke and immediately apologised because although hes angry he dosent acctually want to hurt him. and you can tell why people like luke and join him. obvs the way they have made the gods more likeable from the start means if you havent resd tbe books you probably dont understand lukes motivations as much but jes known the gods are shitty parents for much longer than percy as hed older and percy will get there one day but we all know how that ends up TLO.

percy annabeth and grover all making a promise to meet back at thalia next year so cute

percys dream about kronos really good gives information that made me jump with excitment as a book fan. sally coming to percy with a notebook to note down his dreams is telling in thats not the first time since camp that its happend. also is it his birthday i got the vibe its his birthday. percy telling his mum that kronos told him to tell her shes a good mum made me snort but its sweet that percy is trying to protect her.

over all i have many thoughts and opinions this isnt all of them and if anyone wants specific thoughts on certain things let me know.

i cant wait till s2 they just have to have a season 2!!!!!

Struggled with the hair

Didn't feel like line art but it probably would've been faster

Anyways demigod Aira was in my head after seeing you talk about it

Aira gets winged shoes and Hiiro gets a hat that makes him invisible

(Am recalling Percy Jackson and Heroes of Olympus where Annabeth has that hat)

And like when Aira and Hiiro encounter some kinda monster, Hiiro puts the hat on Aira and the winged shoes sense danger so they immediately fly Aira away

And Hiiro is left alone to fight the monster (Aira wanted to stay but Hiiro insisted he could fight alone)

As for the shoes, they originally just have a heart but as Aira meets the rest of Alkaloid, he sews patches of the symbols that represent them onto the shoes

Ok that's all. Giving you all the strength to complete your art project hiiai woo

im so sorry this took so long to answer i was sleeping and then i. i had to doodle for this. i cant stop thinking about it now. anyway this is going under a cut im going to. ramble. a lot now.

i think when aira first gets his winged shoes he immediately trips over himself- im not sure how hed get it, maybe he found them while cleaning out his closet or smth? they wouldnt have the wings then but after a couple of days BAM theyd have wings. these shoes be blessed by hermes! (or a god of travel / wind from different mythologies. im going greek just to make it easier on myself ajskdfkj) and then aira trips as the shoes try to fly off LMAO

i also think that. each shoe has one wing to make a pair of wings when together, so hed have to wear both shoes to be able to get the hang of it. idk i just always thought that itd be more interesting to have the shoes kinda imbalanced? idk what im getting at here. help

as for this au i think they wont necessarily be born demigods but more along the lines of "the gods blessed them and now they have slight powers / they have magical items that allow them to do things" so !! (this makes it easier on myself again)

okok!! hiiro time!! yes, the classic invis hat from percy jackson and the olympians <3 i love that book series so much... gahh!!! anyway i love the idea of him having an invis hat (i could not think of anything else ok. i am unoriginal) and hoenstly? he would be able to take a fight with a monster (hes canonically rly strong and im pretty sure he. also is in the karate(?) club with tetora) i dont think he'd use it much? i dunno. hmm does this mean he has been blessed by athena?

(i am extending this to alkaloid now) mayoi... he definitely has an item blessed (cursed?) by hades or smth. and he keeps it near / on him at all times which is partly why hes. so strange all the time. he doesnt want the effects of the item (maybe an amulet or some other small thing that he held sentimental value to?) to affect others. the other part of him being strange is. just his canon reasons. this au is literally just adding magic items to canon lmao btu STILL

tatsumi... i am thinking a pocketwatch. but imnot sure what magical properties it might have... i do NOT want it to be time related because at first tatsumi would think "i could use this to turn back time and everything would be reset and i wouldnt do the things i now regret" type of thing but when he realizes that its. not that. angst :) thats the only reason its a pocketwatch! im trying rly hard to coem up with a deity that would "fit" him but. its so hard... maybe hestia? goddess of the hearth, tatsumi being able to make a comfortable home for anyone in himself (METAPHORICALLY. PLEASE TELL ME THIS MAKES ANY SENSE AT ALL.) anyway hestia blessing would be so tatsumayo. tatsumi using pocketwatch power to at first get closer to mayoi, then feeling bad that he did that so tatsumi isolates himself from mayoi, but mayoi, not knowing what tatsumi did, is confused (but also he was also trying to push him away bc. hades blessing/curse) and now is worried that oh no, i did actually push him away this is bad!!! but its ok they reconcile with the help of hiiai!

Storytime: Vision (Hermes)

[A Valentines Day gift for certain, what an experience]

He took me to Elysium and showed me the bones of a Titan.

Ribs that arched like the peaks of mountains, overgrown and oevrtaken by Gaia mother of the titanes. The trees dug into their bones, seaping whatever life was left, the clouds rolled as though they were playfull kittens abouve us casting shadows across the almost neon green grass, so vibrant and full of life.

I taced my hand along the rib of yet another gargantuan titan...it felt familiar, ancient, with carvings and claw marks from both god and wildlife.

This world has healded and whoever this was is long dead...who were you? What did you do? Why are the gods so set that you deserved this fate?

"He was someone who defied Gaia, someone who needed to know his place." Hermes spoke to me softly, i didnt expect an answer at all, much less like this...so gentle and with a hint of nostalgic bliss in his voice he said this with a small smile "it was beutifull when he fell"

That told me so much all at once so much that my head spun and my mind filled with flashes of stars falling from the night sky over a titan laying on this island surrounded by navy blue waters, just the outskirts were wine red, a hurricabe cloud overhead but isolated to souly be abouve this titan

A booming voice of Zeus says something i can't understand. And the sky falls. The Titans' eyes shut, and the stars plumit to the earth. Every scratch of every wound every drop of blood was a show of light and wonder. Sparks flew as what i once believed were stars and now see as almost glass meteorites fell from the sky, ripping into his skin, he was obliterated. He was filled with divine light that Lord Zeus sent down. It was beautiful...

His body cracked and blood of gold and light rained down on the earth below, peices of him were crystalized and sent into the oceans depths, his body draped over this island as he was covered in light, his limbs fell into the sea.

"And his skull...?" I whispered almost to overcome by wonder to speak

"Thats a secret" Hermes tells me with a wink as though that moment of lighthearted fun can really take my attention away from the death i witness

It was both all in a flash and yet an experience i could live in, gone in the blink of an eye that felt like an eternity.

The light the color the depth the death the life all of it after the stars fell and the titans blood flooded across the island turning rivers to gold and trees to ivory the island was temporarily petrified.

Hermes laid back in the air, keeping an eye on me as he spoke. "Over time, Gaia grew tired of witnessing the perpetual petrification of her land, so she took matters into her own hands. The earth regrew the vines, and plants attached themselves to the blood and began to filter it. She created this paradise from a corpse. Don't you see his energy still present? Dont you see he isn't dead? "

Hermes touched down with a spin on his heel, throwing his hands up and gesturing to the land around us "hes alive! And you will be too one day"

He clasped my hands, looking at me with wide beutifull eyes that reflected so many tales and stories and untold adventures waiting to be discovered, so much to say so much to tell me so much to experience i felt sick but i couldnt turn away i didnt care anymore about my body or my health or anything i just wanted him just a little longer

"Its time to go" his smile faltered a little just for a moment as he swallowed and pulled my hands up, lifting me off the ground like a feather "you have to watch yourself you know you cant be recklass"

And then i was back, back in my body that aches with a heart that's full.

Thank you, Hermes. Happy Valentines Day, i love you.

i think a lot of the handwringing about venat is like. cus the core thing of ew was “you have to find an answer to meteion and the lost worlds in order to solve the problem at its root”/this is what the entire hearthinkfeel shit was about & a lot of fans are really attached to the ancients as a faction and believe their destruction to be pure senseless cruelty when it’s part of a more symbolic storyline and the sundered are meant to be a direct continuation of them and not a lol great replacement. i see a lot of counterpoints being like “well they should have imprisoned/executed/manipulated hermes to keep him in the dark while everyone else was in the know so that he could help kill meteion” (dont know where to even start impossible anyways because ancients cant easily lie to each other once suspicion exists), “well they should have created another mega entelechy being that can only feel joy can only obey the command of the ancients and could kill meteion” (most insane fucking suggestion by far for multiple reasons that would shit entirely on ew’s themes far more than the sundering), “they should have only sundered a voluntary faction only to give them the mechanical ability to fight and kill meteion” “they should have just made a Stronger Zodiark that could have killed meteion with raw aetherical force”. LIKE DO YOU SEE THE. METEION IS NOT supposed to be a single invididual villain entity, like the head of a beast you have to cut off. she’s a representation of something that has existed far before her and far beyond her. the fact that every other alternate solution revolves around “how can we kill meteion instead of answer to her” (on the basis that she’s an irredeemable individual with volition and autonomy who’s just morally corrupt and/or nothing but a completely literal apocalypse bringer, like maybe a plague, so simply just too big of an issue to exist so she should just be killed and offered no compassion). i guess the line here is blurred because all characters in a story represent something but some people dont see that meteion is more metaphor than not and think she is just another “representation of a person” like most fictional person shaped characters. the very question “why didn’t venat just help kill meteion” is so like. i dont know hideously ugly way to parse the story to me which sets me so far from the line where ppl are like It’s hideously ugly that venat “gave up” on her people and genocided them or whatever

ive become genuinely enamored with what azem represents in amaurotine society where some ideal exists of ‘harmonious peace’ where everyone conforms under one way of being & so (the argument goes) natural dissonances that result between people who are different and diverse therefore arent an ‘issue’, which carries directly over through e-s into the philosophy / ‘justification’ of the garlean empires activities.... you see amaurotines cultural disregard for life that extends far beyond just its creations, ‘imperfect’ iterations of which it discards in pursuit of ‘perfect’ beings. when the ancients hear meteion’s report from distant stars about war and conquest, famine and sickness and grief, its not like they dont KNOW what she’s talking about.... venat herself tells you she thinks that many could hear the contents of meteions report and be unphased, but hermes cant, and she can understand that of him after a fashion, BECAUSE SHE ALSO DOESNT FIT INTO THE WORLDS ESTABLISHED ORDER. and so i personally really disagree with the idea that to the unsundered these were entirely new and horrifying concepts to them that were only invented post sundering.

but then you have hermes who wants to know about people from distant stars, and specifically brings up that no matter the differences he wont dismiss anything outright -- something that i wonder mightve arisen from specific frustration. when meteion shares these answers from now extinct planets, e-s immediately dismisses listening to them as a useless exercise and tries to have her destroyed before she can even finish. and you have azem from the side story who sneaks out behind the convocation’s back to save an island with a village on it from getting obliterated by a volcano, because the convocation saw that destruction as simply the natural order, and its implied that when pressed as to why they did that, azem says it was to save the exquisite breed of grape that grows on that island, as if - to the convocation - that would be more comprehensible a response than the desire to save those peoples lives and homes. and you have all known azems, past and present, which are oddballs, defiers of the convocation. its as if the very existence fo that role, of being the one guy in amaurot asked to walk the rest of the world and learn about its people, inevitably alters azems in such that they unable to go back to living in amaurotine society in the way they had before. and with past azems like venat, these wanderings are what makes a life theyve been dissatisfied with before in a way they couldnt really figure out finally click into place for them. when amaurotines lament the end of a world with no pain and anguish and strife -- what of the village that almost got consumed by the volcano? what do you know about the world outside of amaurot? apart from the one guy named azem that saw it all and was stripped of honor and deemed a defector for the ways they turned against the convocation? the one former azem named venat that saw it all and opposed the sacrifice of half the planets souls in an attempt to uphold to the fallen glory of amaurot such that she shattered that world into smithereens?

anyway, apparently the grapes on that island were the ancestors of the bacchus grape from the msq

I think I finally figured out why the episode "Lethal Inspection" bothers me so much, or more accurately how it tries to emulate the success of Jurassic Bark's ending and ultimately fails to deliver the same emotional gutpunch it did.

In Jurassic bark, we see Fry find the remains of his beloved pet from the past, and over the course of the episode we see him put himself through hell to get it back from the museaum, and later bringing him trying to bring him back to life, meanwhile neglecting his relationship with Bender.

This establishes two things: 1. Fry is still extremely attached to his past life where just the possibility of bringing back SOMEONE to his new life is something he will commit himself to 100%

2. For all of Bender's in your face attitude and claims he wants to kill all humans and how he doesn't need anyone, the moment he gets even the slightest hint of losing someone is enough to make him act like a small, scared child.

The episode intercuts with flashbacks to Seymore's life with Fry and what happens after Fry gets frozen. This not only fleshes out the world of Futurama, but it also gives light on WHY Fry is so obsessed with this dog, as it was the only character who knew him well enough to know what happened to him.

Then comes the ending. The tension between Bender and Fry comes to a head and then gets resolved by Bender redeeming himself by putting Fry's happiness before his own. Meanwhile Fry finds out that Seymore lived for a long time after he got frozen, which makes Fry come to the entirely reasonable conclusion that Seymore lived a full life.

The emotional gut punch comes from Seymore having never actually moved on from Fry, and while his decision was made from a healthy place, it results in Seymore living to the age of 15 waiting for Fry to come home. Its a situation thats heartbreakingly beautiful and not something you would expect from the silly future simpsons show. Its one that personally, still makes me feel things to this day.

On the other hand, theres Lethal Inspection. An episode that fails to set up for an emotional payoff, or even keeps the suspension of disbelief for long enough to have a surprise emotional twist be effective.

Firstly, it immediately contradicts what has already been established in the worst way possible. It reveals that this entire time Bender has been (or at least THOUGHT he was) immortal with the excuse of "I was just pretending to be scared all those times" which annhilates the suspension of disbelief.

Then it does something cool. It puts Hermes and Bender, two characters who havent had a whole lot of interactions, together for an international adventure, giving Hermes another chance to show off his skills and connections as a bureaucrat and the both of them develop a sort of chemistry.

At the end, Bender has to come to terms with his own mortality, and honestly had it just ended there, with maybe Hermes having to step out of his comfort zone as a cold bureaucrat to comfort his friend and coworker, that honestly wouldve been great.

But instead we get this twist that HERMES was actually the inspector that let bender go and it made him quit being an inspector.

Im gonna unpack all this now

Firstly Im just gonna let the continuity of baby bender slide. As far as Im concerned, the growth cycle of robots has basically just been a bunch of off the cuff jokes so its clear its a "dont think about it too hard" situation

This is the first and only instance of Hermes bucking the system that he's been a happy cog in his entire life. This would be fine, even GREAT if they had simply had more build up to it.

Its implied to be this lifechanging event for Hermes as he leaves the robot factory. This falls flat considering that Hermes, up until this point, has been a cold man who treats even other humans as disposable assets. Having a very humanizing moment for a character like this can be effective but you cant just randomly throw it out there, never to be mentioned again.

It establishes an undeserved connection between these two characters despite this basically being the only time they ever really interact for an extended period of time.

The Audience has never really been given reason to CARE about these "characters" as they, with a only a few exceptions like Hermes coming to terms with his shortcomings in Bender's Big Score, have mostly been vessels for joke delivery rather than fleshed out characters while Fry, Leela, Amy and Kiff have gotten the brunt of character development.

What barebones character growth it DOES have is Hermes proving that people like him ARE useful in getting things done, gets immediately contradicted by showing him acting NOT like a bureaucrat

Ultimately any emotion this scene has is based off pure coincidence. We aren't given any sort of idea of how the realization that HE was the one who let Bender slip through the cracks actually affected him as a person. Hell if anything it might've been MORE impactful if the inspector just turned out to be a friend of Hermes who showed more humanity than Hermes ever could

Now what should they have done in my opinion?

First off, instead of a "Bender takes Hermes on an adventure" episode, just commit making it a Hermes episode. Instead of doing the dumb "Sithal War" bit, just have Hermes waking up and follow him through his morning, clearly feeling unhappy with his life and who he's become. This would also be a great oppertunity to give LaBarbera some focus, instead of another 'shes looking for any excuse to leave Hermes for Barbados Slim' joke, have some genuine relationship drama as she ALSO isn't happy with how Hermes has become. Have Hermes respond in a cold, tired manner that only makes things worse.

Take that and follow the same general beats, except without the whole "Consiousness backed up to the cloud" and instead have Bender flaunting how he's not going to die of old age, only to find out that his self-repair functions are faulty. What THIS would do is have Bender face his newly found mortality without cheapening his fear of danger.

From here you have your adventure to mexico as Hermes dips his toes into his old life. Maybe drop much more subtle hints that Hermes has been to this town before as he somehow knows how to get around and where to find the factory. If questioned he could lie and say "I went to a calculator expo here one time" or something.

Then have the big reveal, but FOLLOW UP ON IT. Show that the whole experience has serve as a brief reminder of the idealistic young man he once was and then have there be CONSEQUENCES for it. Make the opening super melancholy so you can contrast it now with him going home with that spark relighting his humanity. Instead of trying to force an emotional moment with a sudden twist and music that implies innocence and youth, give the characters room to breath and let the audience form an emotional connection with their plight.

10 Anti LO Asks

1. To add to your collection of RS's old tumblr ask screenshots (LO canvas league era), i distinctly remember there was an ask where someone asked why is mortal realm so behind olympus technology-wise and RS responded something along the lines of technology timelines not being aligned "because the gods don't wanna share the goodies" (the quotations are her exact words, to be precise) and it was kind of an early red flag for me? I mean, the greek myths are all about gods helping humans and giving them the means to survive or about explaining natural phenomena that benefits humans whether it's prometheus with introducing fire or athena and hephaestus spreading the knowledge of crafts among humans or even ares and poseidon making way for the first court trial in greece on areopagus. You don't get the permission to "deconstruct" the myths if you don't even know what they are initially about

2. What makes me tick is RS makes everything up instead of working with mythology (first thing she'd have to do is to...ummm, know mythology but oh well). She seems to see original mythology as something limiting to her creativity instead of something that unlocks more possibilities for more interesting storytelling. If someone wants concrete examples, let's say persephone's half-bothers plutus and philomelus who'd make an interesting dynamic of maybe two protective/concerned older or younger bros (it'd lessen the portrayal of demeter's "bad" parenting) and she'd have a support system of two guys who don't have the motive to get in her pants, unlike , ykno, the rest of the male cast. Also it'd even out the playfield between Perse and Hades finance and power-wise as Plutus is a god of wealth and Perse,aside from being a heiress, can also turn to her brother for financial help instead of being reliant on Hades all the damn time. Intead RS put Arion just for some lame joke of persephone having a horse brother and is stripped away from any familial connections (male or female) she has in myth so she'd fit in Hades's waifu mold with no risk of going sweet home alabama that myth implies so much

3. the fact persephone is barely over the age of 18 doesn't help when there's so much panels and art of her where's she's literally just naked. if she was 300 or smth we could at least know we are likely not looking at a naked underage girl, but instead it's like??? you're just praying youre not?? especially when she's around grown adults like hermes and hades?? rachel please i dont want to be put on a list -

4. i feel so bad for RS' partner because apparently hermes is based off them (and everyone knows persephone is her self insert) yet in comic hermes' whole purpose is to simp for a woman who literally doesnt like him and being a walking joke. like idk id be so offended my partner sees me like that?? like damn i cant even be with you in your fantasy?? you rather run off with blue mads mikklesen if given the chance?? anyway poor hermes and that kiwi i appreciate you 😭

5. I can’t take Persephone serious as a protagonist she failed to grow as a character in her own. She can’t do anything without Hades she didn’t fight back against Apollo, she failed to tell Zeus the truth, and hen warrant for her arrest was made she didn’t think about her mother at all being in danger! And her punishment was basically doing her job and growing her powers…?

I know this whole comic is full of un-self reflective hypocrisy, but are we really not supposed to find it stupid minthe is basically slut shamed for wearing a revealing dress around a child, but its perfectly fine for persephone to wear as revealing of clothing around the same child they're so concerned over? it's not even a cause of showing hades' hypocrisy, it's just straight forward "yep! minthe is evil no matter what but it's ok with persephone does the same thing!" like ???

8. There's something funny of LO fans trying to accuse Ava's Demon of ripping of LO as if it wasn't already published and popular in 2012, aka nearly SIX YEARS before LO even came out. Hell, it was HUGE on tumblr when RS was on it, there's no way she didn't know about it, and a lot of the LO characters seem awfully similar to Ava's Demon (Hades and Gils being a VERY obvious similarity). I'm not saying she did so, but if any sort of ripping off did happen, it would be from RS, not Michelle.

9. This is coming from someone who does have a huge age gap in their parents marriage(about 8 to 9 years apart) but the reason I don't see a problem with mine is that they both meet when they were MATURE ADULTS with jobs. Persephone cleary is not mature enough for Hades minus all the other problems with this relationship.

10. LO fans hates Hadestown because tthey can't stand complexity, the cast and crew who love to shit on HxP, or the Persephone actresses who especially love to push a Hermes/Persephone supremacy agenda!!

why the percy jackson movies are good, actually:

1) they just are lol

okay but seriously before i get into this let me address the valid criticisms the movies get.

grover is a racist caricature. it was unnecessary and they destroyed his character to make him comic relief. also NO ONE asked for the weird persephone x grover thing in the first film 🤢

very weird unresolved tension between percy and annabeth... “i definitely have feelings for you, i just cant tell if theyre negative or positive” is top 5 worst lines in cinema. they had no business aging up the characters just to “sex-ify” the film. like we didnt need a gritty/dark version of what is supposed to be a children’s story

they made clarisse skinny 😐

as an adaptation, if you were looking for faithfulness, you didnt find it in the movies. (the musical is a much better adaptation!) like not even the notion of artistic license can excuse chris columbus for changing all that he did. thor freudenthal tried to fix it but by then it was too late. i understand the hatred for the movies based on this. (but at the same time, the sheer level of hate is unwarranted. ill explain later)

logan lerman acting king!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! when i tell you that man EMBODIED the character of percy jackson. i know his legacy has been forever tarnished by the bad reputation of these movies but i also know that everyone praises his work in it bc it is truly one of the best things about the films. like he is genuinely talented! THAT BEING SAID. i dont want to see him as poseidon in the percy jackson disney show. i just know that man is tired of being associated to greek mythology fanfiction. support him by watching his other movies instead please

jake abel, acting king number 2. ive said this before but he was ACTUALLY the perfect luke. the expressions. the delivery of his corny lines. this video. literally iconic behavior!

honestly the cast in general. alexandra daddario, nathan fillion hermes, stanley tucci dionysus, UMA THURMAN MEDUSA???!!!

the soundtrack... need i say more? (i don’t, but i will anyways. first movie featured highway to hell, pokerface, tiktok - not the app. the ke$ha song- among others. second movie featured fall out boy. like they didn’t have to go that hard with the songs but they DID). also they made luke listen to classical music while playing chess in his giant cruise ship’s captain’s quarters... perfect characterization!

rick riordan hates the movies and im sick and tired of that man so by default i love the movies. okay but seriously. i understand feeling insulted by a poorly done adaptation of your life’s greatest work, and i understand not wanting to watch something that is based on your writing. but he has made this grudge so excessive that out of spite im about to start unironically endorsing the films over his books. hes written whole essays griping about his hatred for the movies. which at the same time, is just FURTHER ASSOCIATING YOURSELF TO THE MOVIES! a part of me is convinced that as soon as the disney x fox merger happened, he ran to disney headquarters and started begging them for a tv show just so he could direct his anger towards the movies into something productive. like man WE GET IT! YOU DONT LIKE THE MOVIES!!!

the visual effects are objectively, pretty good

despite it not being a faithful adaptation, the movies have a decent plot. or at least i was still enthralled while watching them? like disconnect them from the books and its still a (mostly) solid story.

or if you dont want to think about the plot at all, just admit that they’re FUN and ICONIC and DEFINED THE 2010s.
