Martin Freeman of BBC Sherlock insulted Elementary and specifically Lucy Liu in the press. He straight up called Lucy Liu a "dog" in an interview APPARENTLY as a joke, because calling female actors ugly is hilarious. Benedict Cumberbatch was more measured about it, but he still said he was cynical about Elementary because it would lose the "male friendship" dynamic, which of course Johnlock shippers used against Joan Watson fans. she gets treated in-canon the way fandoms treat female characters that Threaten an m/m ship. it's like, "oh why don't you go sit in the corner and be pretty, misa, while the Men have intelligent conversation and pretend they aren't ten seconds from fucking each other, doesn't that sound nice?" it's infuriating. and MAYBE it's better now but i remember her getting treated the same way in fanfiction too, like we all need to do just as badly by our female secondary characters as fucking tsugumi ohba, but with the added insult of making her be alternately oblivious of the relationship between light and L or actively trying to sabotage it—incompetently, of course, because god forbid misa be allowed dignity or moments of cleverness.

she's one of the first characters I think of when I consider old school fandom misogyny. The annoying bitch and clingy crazy gf allegations were AFTER HER ASS. She's also a lot more intelligent than people gave her credit for, but most seem inclined to take the Very Biased word of our unreliable, narcissistic narrator and his homoerotic arch nemesis and claim that just because she's bubbly and into romance that she's also a complete moron. Which is blatantly untrue. Everyone was afraid of Misa girlbossing too hard. Not only is she the victim of yaoi culture, she is the victim of early 2000s misogyny by an author that wanted to introduce a girl character because he knew his male rivals were getting too homoerotic. She is a goth bimbo icon who portrays what I think is one of the few callouts for stan culture and what parasocial relationships can do to both the stan and the idol. The fact that she is a toxic fan of Kira and also hot, funny, sociable is tragic in its own way, which I think the author did try to touch on but was too misogynistic too really get through. Of course, she was reduced to villain status by the fandom and anime alike because she got in the way of the supposed romance in their psychological horror anime.

Since my friend and I are playing Bioshock 1, i wanted to share some of the things that have happened so far:

- We sat and watched the plane fully sink

- "OUGH?!" < her reaction to the giant Ryan statue

- Right off the bat she didn't trust Atlas and said his wife and child aren't real

- Every security bot is named Jeff

- The wrench is also Jeff(rey Bezos)

- We spent 30 minutes trying to get to Steinman because I forgot I has to throw the bombs at the debris blocking the entrance

- We went through 4 nitro splicers before I realized something wasn't right. I do this everytime. I literally replayed Bioshock like 2 weeks ago and forgot how to do that

- I've died more times in this playthrough than I ever have in Bioshock 1

- Keeps asking me if Atlas is evil, I keep telling her no and that he's my babygirl

- I've been spoon feeding her Atlas propaganda so hopefully she'll trust him by the end

- LOVES the little sisters, terrified of big daddys. She screamed the first time we had to fight one

- Got jumpscared AGAIN by the splicer in the basement of Sinclair Spirits

- I can never find the record store when I play Bioshock, this time was no different

- I gave up and went after Hector instead

- When we met Silas Cobb she yelled "KITTENS??"

- She agrees Silas is a discord mod

- We spent like 2 minutes straight trying to catch Hector and Silas

- I also got jumped by a bunch of splicers every time I tried to kill a bouncer

- She lost it at Cohen walking down the stairs

My chain of thorn thoughts (obviously cot spoilery)

Okay first of all: it was disappointing. Tlh was so hyped up I don’t think it could have ever lived up to its expectations. And the biggest problem is it huge cast of main characters that cassie couldn’t really develop and focus on everyone. And the fact that it’s set in the past, she is very limited by what she can do with it so that’s already all not of to a good start.

Now cot. I know she changed it to make it happier but honestly I’d much rather a realistic heartbreaking cot than this.

I’m not saying it’s very bad. The writing is still the same cassie writing. It’s the plot. The way everything shifts too fast or is dragged on too long.

Cordelia, James and Matthew:

The beginning of cordelia and Matthew in Paris was so good. I wanted and dreaded them kissing. And the most unexpected part for me in the entire cot is James in the room just when they were making out (I kind of what to find out what would have happened if James wasn’t there but then I feel like cordelia would have regretted it so much so I’m glad it didn’t go on)

Matthew FINALLY addressing his alcoholism and Alastair helping and it being realistic and all his friends there to help makes me so damn happy

Literally he wasn’t even mention that much after the grief part and he was like briefly mentioned in epilogue but not really

We didn’t see his parents reaction to his death

And cordelia was way too focus on Matthew and James (understandable for her) then Christopher in the grief part, taking away most of the focus

I get how the book is already way too long (even tho I feel like it’s dragged on I feel like so many more things should have been included but at the same time idk what could have been cut) but Christopher does deserve better (even from a person that does not care about him I just feel bad)

Thomastairs:

Literally perfection

Cassie saw how mad we were about the lack of thomastairs in coi and apologised to us LMAO

We got everything we wanted and everything we could ever need (I mean Obv I wouldn’t mind more thomastairs scenes BUT I understand how she already gave us so much and we cannot be too greedy now can we)

I love Thomas lightwood so fucking much (before I only care about him for Alastair but he is so goddam cute)

Thomas lightwood is literally the only character that did not hide his feelings at all throughout cot (even in coi he didn’t hide it from Alastair (he just didn’t tell the others but he aren’t obliged to so)

He keeps confessing and reassuring Alastair no matter how many times Alastair makes excuses and doubts them

He spoke Farsi to Alastair. Thomas lightwood spoke Alastair’s mother tongue to him.

All the kisses and dialogues and scenes with them is just perfection

Alastair is as witty and useful as ever and Thomas is so nervous and cute and not him being one of the only ones grieving for Christopher

Anyways can you tell how much I just love them

Now the fucking plot:

It’s such a typical cliche ya plot that yeah it make sense for a ya book and i guess in some ways it is fathomable but at the same time it’s cheap it’s predictable it’s nothing unusual or exciting

It’s like the book cannot decide between being an action focus and character focus so it’s just a weird uncomfortable mixture between the two

And because readers have so much expectations because it’s about characters we already know and love and that’s why cassie had to be so careful

Ngl, I feel like she did her best with the limits she have (that she sets for herself in her previous books and shit)

But I just want the sadder version (unless it’s sad for thomastairs then im glad it’s this version)

(I didn’t mention ari and Anna because idk what else to say for them except same as how I feel about Lucie and Jesse)

I cannot say im satisfied but I also cant say im disappointed. More like I expected this and it’s just what I expected and it’s disappointing that it didn’t surprise or exceed my expectations

I found a character poll on twitter few weeks ago and I can't believe so many marauder fans were shocked that Severus is more popular than Barty and Rosier.

this is honestly so depressing, but i know i shouldn't be surprised, the other day i too found a twt poll that put remus/severus and remus/regulus against each other and remus/regulus won by SO MANY votes! i wanted to drink a whole bottle of hemlock. i couldn't believe it. that rich twink doesn't have a fucking personality he will Never be as nuanced as severus as a character, or as impactful!

YOU DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH I LAUGHED AT THIS, I CHOKED ON NOTHING 😭😭😭 i'm sure you're aware of people shipping regulus and james? before i stumbled again upon this abomination of a fandom, i was rather open minded to the idea of shipping anything as long as it's age appropriate, but i just don't have the patience for ships involved fabricated personalities where one of the parties involved's ENTIRE personality was snatched from My favorite character.

but its as you depict it! there IS a prejudiced and shallow component in the way people choose their faves, for the lack of personality and depth to not matter when the character is supposed to be "attractive". the whole "making snape to be ugly" always rubbed me the wrong way, for the poor and neglected kid to be bullied and antagonized, and everyone justifying it TO THIS DAY, favoring their rich, "supposedly conventionally attractive" main characters? from r*wling it shouldn't be surprising, but from everyone else to run away with it, justifying every ugly action from james or sirius, even lily? then they act as if they're any better than r*wling herself 🤡

i've been reluctantly into hp again for at least two or three months and every experience outside of the snape fanbase has been so exhausting. loving remus and find content of him that doesn't involve sirius or james or that doesn't misinterpret his character is also hard, i really can only trust snupin stans and absolutely nobody else 😔

Because they're shallow-minded and there's just no way to change their opinions. They are too deep in the fanfiction rabid hole they started treating it like canon. According to them, ugly people aren't allowed to make any mistakes. This is the type of discrimination we see in real life as well. I expect them to be better considering how they always turn their favs into gay feminist icons but well... I guess when they mention feminist, they mean ugly people exclusivity radical feminist.

Loving Remus and finding content of him that doesn't involve Sirius or James or that doesn't misinterpret his character is also hard

I barely follow any Remus' blogs/content creator anymore because whenever i search for them, at least 60% of them contain Wolfstar, while the other 40% MIGHT contain Severus' bashing. I'd rather stick and wait for Snupin shippers to drop more Remus Lupin contents. Well.. I guess some Remadora fans are fine but there's just too many Snaters out there. I'd rather take care of my mental health and not get involved with these people.

TCR Review: Episode 9 - "Family"

Sorry I've been busy with a lot lately, but I'm finally able to post some more of my reviews for TCR.

Ep 9 Review:

Overall, I really enjoyed Ep9! 😃 I was glad to finally get to the legal drama aspect of this case. As you all know, I loooove legal dramas lol. 😅 I was glad to finally see Danny's case getting to the courtroom.

Where do I even begin? First of all....WHEW!! That DA on the prosecution's side came out swinging with a vengeance in her opening statement to the jury boy..... 😲😳 I was scared lol... Cuz yea, if you just look at the "facts", it would appear that Danny is immediately GUILTY. I mean, c'mon...he was caught on TAPE shooting at his stepfather. 👀 Keep in mind too, that this was during an era when DID (or, what was formerly called "Multiple Personality Disorder") wasn't really recognized as a real, classified, mental disorder...at least, not in the justice system.

I have to admit, the prosecution's side came out hard-hitting and swinging left and right, so I was very curious about how the defense side of the team was going to be able to de-escalate this, and help the jury to see that Danny has a certifiable mental illness. 😊 You can already tell that the defense side has a HUGE uphill climb with this case, and it was definitely looking very hopeless for Danny (even though we all already knew that the outcome would be positive for Danny in the end). It was very intense.

The acting was very well-done in this episode. I have to hand it to Emmy... She did an amazing job in this episode. She did so well in this episode that by the end of the episode, I literally LEGIT hated her character lol. 😅🤣

I just couldn't with her.... I'm sorry.... I also felt really awful for Danny too. It seems like aside from Rya, Jerome was probably the only other person who REALLY cared for him. His own mother doesn't seem trustworthy at this point in the series🙄.....Just the very fact that she would even stay with a man for that long, knowing GOOD and well that he was molesting her son? Oh no no way could that be me.😡

I know it was a different era back then for women, but still! It's not like they were living on the streets! She had a house, she had a job, they had shelter.... I don't see why she had to drag that man into their lives, and (even worse) STAY with him when she knows that he was abusing her son as a little kid. 😭

What made it even WORSE was that Danny's mother Candy had ample chances to turn things around for Danny by testifying the truth. Rya and Stan were practically BEGGING her to please testify and help Danny out in his case, and she kept refusing. Only to later on then testify and LIE on the stand!!

The way she just remained silent and even LIED on the stand in the court scene (Ep 9) was just.... 😤 Smh!! I'm sorry I couldn't. I understand why she did what she did, but I still think that was a pretty low blow to do to your own son who's obviously suffering smh. 😔

I literally sat there with my mouth agape towards the end of the episode as she blatantly LIED on the stand. She basically committed perjury in front of that whole courtroom. SMH...

And then, the last few minutes of the episode where we see Danny (TW) attempting to slit his wrists is just.... Ugh.... it's just SOOOO heartbreaking to me! 😭 I literally teared up, and my heart ached for him! Just soo much paaain! 🥺 It was so depressing after I watched this episode. Tom played that whole part beautifully.👏🏾

I think it's also remarkable to note that throughout most of the episode (if not the ENTIRE episode), Tom's character Danny doesn't really say a word. Tom is acting with his facial expressions and with this eyes pretty much the ENTIRE time during this episode. And yet, we all know what he's thinking and feeling just through his EYES alone. I've always said that Tom is a very good expressive actor with his EYES. He can convey things w/out even speaking just through his eyes alone. I thought that was very interesting. He barely had any lines in this episode.

Sorry for this long dissertation guys, but I had to convey my thoughts.

Was just catching up on the pod and had to chime in on ep 29. I think it’s a little unfair to say that Bella is being over the top in her depression era. Yes she is sad about Edward leaving but it goes deeper than that: it wasn’t just a boyfriend she was losing.

She is an only child with an immature, selfish mom and a dad that, while nice enough, hardly knows her. The Cullens are a large, cohesive, loving family and she wanted to join them badly. Also, now that she knows that the supernatural exists, she wants to be a part of that world badly and losing Edward also meant losing her chance at immortality. She didn't just lose a boyfriend, she lost the best possible version of her life.

Bella's depression is always going to be a hot topic, trust me bestie. G has talked pretty decently in-show about how Bella lost her entire support system. that's 100% true: she put all her eggs in one vampire-shaped basket, went full tunnel-vision when it came to edward, and only focused on that for 6+ months. but imo it's unfair to point toward charlie and renee (don't worry, I'll get into that) and shuffle responsibility onto them for the way bella spirals after edward/the cullens depart, leaving her with some vague yearning for a loving family (which, tbh, I'm not sure I see supported in canon in any way?)

friend I am so sorry to break it to you but the podcast jokes about stanning renee are not a bit. I (shannon) will always come to the defense of my girl renee dwyer because of how severely she's been mischaracterized by fandom at large. I won't get into it too deeply (me when I lie) because I really could go on all day but bella's parents being distant to the plot they way they both are is 100% by design. it's the whole Disney Mom Effect. when your character is designed to go off on adventures and have a fantastical journey, you sort of end up killing the mom (or at least one parent) so that there's more of that push for the main character to go out and make their own life! woo! enjoy your magical journey! but if you have a mom that is thoughtful, super-involved, ever-present, and/or ahem, alive, that fucks with the plans. renee isn't some neglectful monster who abandoned her daughter to go spend weekends in miami. charlie isn't some dumb sitcom dad who weaponizes incompetence to get free meals. they both love, care about, and worry for bella the way a normal parent would (and we see this in canon). now, smeyer didn't kill either of them, but honestly she pulled off charlie and renee's characters really well imo!

anyways, I agree that losing a vampire boyfriend that could have offered you infinite money or eternal life is a big L, no matter what. but the thing is, bella doesn't care about either of those things. she doesn't care about anything beyond Being With Edward (and Alice, to a lesser extent). the vampirism and cullens are a bonus perk, but she only focuses on edward. that's why we're always going to clown on her "throbbing" holes and her boring nightmares. sure, I feel bad about her complete lack of self-esteem and her self-destructive streak, but it's so hard to feel bad for her when the way she thinks about and acts toward non-cullen characters is like, uh... not great. so I am very sorry to you and the whole of your defense squad, and I wish you the best in your journey, but I don't think we'll ever NOT roll our eyes at Bella's behavior in this book 💔😔—shannon

I mostly agree (except for the part about pulling off charlie's and renee's characters well. idk if I'd go THAT far.) the tl;dr for me is that I understand why many people find bella (particularly in her depression era) relatable, and I entered into this reading hoping (and even lowkey expecting) that I too would come away with more appreciation for her character, but I....did not. the opposite happened. that's my truth and if it makes me a hater, I'm a hater ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ —G

This is the first time I’m in someone’s ask, and let me tell you, i was just FUMINg when i read the first version of backburner ending. Like wtf is WRONGggg with everyone 😭 i nearly yeeted my phone fr but then i saw your deep dive and i got even madder because even though that ending was effed up, you made it make sense why it had to end up that way so now I’m just hating on imaginary characters lol

And i know the second ending is coming up (which you promised will be sunshine and rainbows and i trust you pls don’t break my heart) and ofc i’ve been team mingyu from the beginning so im looking forward to it but also highkey nervous as to how you’ll pull it off since the first one frustratingly just fits the story with how you circled back to the backburner theme and the seungcheol-sunhee oc-mingyu parallels and ahhhh it’s frustratingly flawless (and flawlessly frustrating hahah) so im scared the second won’t feel like canon 😩

Samy's acoustic gig in a bar downtown Jyväskylä, 5.12.2022 - gig report by me ✨

First of all, anyone who saw me panicking about going to this gig last night and tried to calm me down, I want you to know that your support meant the world to me and that thanks to all of you sweet people who told me it's gonna be alright and that I should totally give it a try, I had the most fun Monday night I've had in a long long while, possibly years 💖

And HUGE thanks to @thesunsetisgone for coming with me, I would've been absolutely lost without you there with me 😭 it was so great meeting you, see you again soon!! 💕

The bar was crowded as FUCK and the music (the bar's music I mean) was so loud that it was hard to hear anything. It was kinda uncomfortable and I don't see the appeal, so I don't think I'll be going to a bar again any time soon unless it's for another amazing acoustic gig 😅

This is no news to anyone who knows Samy at all but oh my god he was so smiley and happy and relaxed and cute and 😭😭😭 he was in his element, and although there were quite a few songs I didn't recognize (until later watching the videos I filmed lol), I had the time of my life just looking at him. He is such a charismatic performer, not at all diva-like, quite the contrary; he seems super down to earth and just the sweetest person 🥺

His Samy-like humour included his typical "I don't actually know how to play this" jokes (especially when he played LS songs lol), and at one point when he got too hot and took his jacket off, revealing his beautiful red silk shirt he was like (roughly translated) "I'm supposed to be this trashmetal dude, but instead I look like some fucking magic carpet" 😂💞

Songs that he covered included You Give Love a Bad Name by Bon Jovi (lol who else), The Kill (Bury Me) by 30 Seconds to Mars, a BMTH song I didn't recognize because I don't listen to BMTH but I was told it's Joonas' favourite song (Drown), the beginning of Stan by Eminem (until he went "I'm not actually gonna play this" just before the rap part 😆 I have this on video, probably gonna post later!), and Alone by Heart

Out of LS songs he played Awake (😭😭😭😭😭😭) and 112. During the latter he made us do a fun dialogue kinda singing where he sang some parts of the chorus and we had to sing the next line 🥺

My personal highlight was when he 😭😭😭😭 he played 😭😭😭💘💘💘 he played I Will Follow You Into The Dark by Death Cab For Cutie and 😭😭😭😭 I don't think you understand, this is one of my favourite songs in the entire world and I was this 🤏 close to elbowing my way through the crowd to snog him directly on the mouth for playing it 💞

Out of context: he looked me in the eyes and told me I was beautiful

In context: he sang a Finnish song (!!!!!!!!!!!!! a rare occasion, he told us) in which the chorus goes "you are beautiful, and the world is yours" (Maailma on sun by Tehosekoitin) and I SWEAR he looked right at me one time when he sang that line, I REFUSE to believe otherwise 😤

Actually I feel like we made eyecontact quite a few times, but that might as well have been an optical illusion (or wishful thinking 😔)

He also began to sang Wonderwall like the troll he is, but then he was like "fuck no am I gonna play that song" 😆 and @thesunsetisgone may correct me if I'm wrong but it was then when he started playing The Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Green Day and...I don't have video material of what happened next because ????? 😂

He hadn't gotten too far into the song when this 60-year-old guy (I know this because the man himself said he was soon turning 60), somewhat drunk, assumably a friend of Samy's, got on the "stage" (there was no stage) and wanted to duet the song with him, but then neither of them could remember any more lyrics, so the random man took out his phone and googled the lyrics, and when Samy looked at his phone he cracked up because apparently the man had googled the lyrics to Basket Case instead 🤣 the man was insistent on singing this song instead though, but Samy was like "I don't know how to play that?!" and then he pointed at someone in the front row like "you come up here and play this!" and suddenly a wild Mirko appeared! 😃 and then they played Basket Case with Mirko on the guitar and the whole bar sang along ✨

I would also like to thank Samy for making me cross one thing off my bucket list: the last song he performed was Livin' On a Prayer and I've ALWAYS wanted to sing along to that song in a crowd of people singing along with me, so Mr. Elbanna you really made this dream of mine reality 🙏

Damn, I really wish I had told him all this 😔 I mean, I did get the opportunity, because after the gig was over, we went to the restaurant side of the place to put on our outerwear, and Samy was there?? Right next to us???? And first we were like "omg he's right there" but just continued putting on our jackets, but then we were like "no, let's go take pictures with him!"

And so, yeah, we did 🥰 and he was so sweet 😭💕

Thank you kind sir, this evening gave me so much joy you have no idea 🥺💖

When we got out of the bar we had a minor fangirling moment ("OMG WE JUST MET SAMY!!!")...and then a couple of shabby-looking dudes came to ask if we sell speed 🤡 because apparently your average speed-salesperson looks like this:

To conclude, I had the best time and I'm so happy I went and all the panic and nervousness was SO worth it <3
