Is anyone actually mad about chapter 403 of MHA?? Because i keep hearing people say that izuocha shippers are mad abt it because it's a 'bkdk chapter' but I don't see anyone complaining 😭

The chapter isn't romantic, or implied to be, so i don't get why people would be mad over it??

I don't know who needs to hear this, but if you hate a character solely because of a ship/ships, you're a childish fuck who needs to log off the internet and go touch grass. It's so annoying to see some of my favorite characters either reduced to who they're paired with or demonized because of said pairing. Fans really do take the fun out of shipping, especially on Tumblr and TikTok. And what gets me is that y'all aren't only loud with that bullshit, but you're wrong with it too! Like, damn, so and so, which, let's be real, is usually a girl, being shipped with the main character really lodged a stick up your ass, huh? If you don't like him or her or whoever, that's fine! If you don't like them because of shipping, stop making that everyone else's problem because I'm sick of seeing my faves personalities twisted and diminished just because you take shipping way too seriously.

It's real telling that you can still like a ship. But cannot stand Its shippers.

When I made my "Ochaco is More Than a Crush" post, I wasn't saying...

It's bad she has a crush

She shouldn't have a crush

Denying she has a crush

Saying it's bad for a teenage girl to have feelings

What I was saying is...

Ochaco's personality isn't just her about "crushing" on Izuku

In fact, it's not even a personality trait

I'm tired of people saying is she just a girl with a crush when there are other traits to behold

She's sweet, caring, a badass, funny, adorable

Those are real personality traits

I was also saying that what if this whole time she isn't crushing on Izuku it could be something else. That doesn't mean I was knocking her having a crush out.

Hell, who wouldn't have a crush on Izuku? He's a sweet kid.

Also, I made it a point to say Iida was also brought up. What if this whole time she had a crush on Iida?

There's nothing wrong about her having a crush on anybody.

Saying it's her whole personality is what is bothering me because you're just knocking out her real traits.

Could her crush be part of her story arc? Yes. But does it have to? No. Can a crush shape an arc? Yes and no.

Again, my post was just making many different interpretations. It wasn't a hate post against IzuOcha or having crushes. I was a teen girl who had crushes.

This reply? It gives attitude and at this point, I really don't care.

The moment someone makes a guess about Ochaco not having a crush, it's bad and whatever. What's wrong with thinking it's not a crush? Nothing.

It's an opinion.

But if you're going to get up in arms like this, I'm blocking, I don't care.

It's not that it's wrong for her to have a crush, it's wrong when people say that the only thing there is to her.

BnHA: Team up Mission Volume Cover

Thoughts:

The Ochako Volume Cover we always wanted but never got...she looks sooo angelic!!! God!!!

I have so much to say about this: She looks so angelic here!! Like straight out of a volume cover! Too bad, only 2-3 volumes are remaining and the covers will most likely go to people like AFO, Deku or All Might, maybe even Bakugo if he wakes up.

I'm hoping for at least a TogaChako cover for Vol 39. An Ochako cover is way overdue, but at this point I'm just happy with what we got.

All the Kacchako, IzuOchas, and TogaChako shippers are gonna have a field day with this on Twitter! I'm really seeing a lot of Demon Bakugo X Angel Uraraka and Demon Spider Toga X Angel Ochako arts.

I wish Ochako got this hype earlier in the series, especially when so much of the main plot was hogged by the Todoroki family drama.

Anyways, I also love the fact that Ochako is depicted as an Angel here. Her quirk is literally float and she has big white wings along with that serene expression on her face...it's just so beautiful.

It really complements her soo much!! And contrasts to Toga who was seen as a devil / monster by everyone else.

Plus I really don't understand when people say, Ochako's not gonna be that popular as a pro, like are you kidding me?

Even if we just follow the cannon events, Ochako is popular among the common folks:

She was on TV during the sports fest and managed to impress a lot of pros, she was in Ryukyu's team in season 4 which also got some attention from the media.

She was helping the citizens in the aftermath. There is a chance that a lot of people, she directly saved might recognise her.

I mean, who wouldn't be thankful, if someone got you out of a falling house or someone that was trapped under a debri? Plus, rescue Heroes like Wash and 13 are pretty famous.

Plus, some might recognise her after her speech from the Dark Deku arc that was the first step to bridge the gap between heroes and villains.

And now in the final arc? SHE LITERALLY SAVED EVERYONE FROM TOGA'S SAD MAN'S PARADE!! AND THAT WAS ON LIVE TV!!!

The heroes trapped there, the people watching on live TV!! Who wouldn't recognise that?

Anyways, my point is Ochako's gonna be rich and popular and that's that.

Lol, I got way out of track here.

But Ochako's beautiful and everyone knows it!!

All the bkdk shippers that follow me and I interact with accept that I hate bakugou and bkdk and never attacked me for it nor did I ever attack them! In my posts Im talking about the toxic part of the bkdk shipper fanbase who attack others because their opinion differs from them, because this people are the main reason why bkdk shippers have such a horrible reputation in the rest of the mha fanbase! And about the izuocha ship. While I dont ship it, I still think its a cute and wholesome ship like I think iidadeku or tododeku are too and Im supportive of all of them, but I dont look for fanfictions or fanarts of that ships, because Im not interested in shipping. Being a non-shipper doesnt mean, you cant defend a ship or support it though or that you cant like a ship, it just means its not where your main focus is on! Im supportive of izuocha, because ochako gets so much hate from bkdk shippers, simply because they see her as a treat to their ship and because she exists!

And about you saying that everyone knows and accepts that izuku and bakugou arent gay: man you never have read the bkdk posts on twitter, havent you?! 🤣

I am a heavy multishipper, and I respect every ship I see as long as it's not romanticize anything bad (like inc3st and p3dophilia)

I love Izuocha as much as I love Bakudeku, but it's so funny seeing other izuocha shippers saying that its so obviously endgame cause it shows they're not actually paying any bit of attention to the manga.

I'm not even mentioning the bakudeku and togachako hints going on in recent events; there is a full scene of Ochako addressing the possibility of her admiration of Deku being mistaken for attraction, and putting away ideas of romance so that she can make herself a hero instead of being Izuku's shadow like she's been doing. People have to recognize and understand scenes like that, even if it goes against their ship or they don't like alternative ships.

Adding on to this put into perspective the fact that Izuku literally lost control of his heart over Katsuki 3 times, and the villain goes after Katsuki to get to Izuku (just like he did to Nana's husband) verbally stating that he's "Closest to Izuku". Now take all of this to account and imagine Izuku and Ochako getting together. You see how that would be a strain? Platonic or not Katsuki would be above anyone else to Izuku, and that's going to mess up any romantic relationship Izuku might have. Ochako probably wouldn't want to go in a relationship knowing the childhood friend would be his first.

i try! i'm not great about it these days because i'm really trying to distance myself from stats/interactions, but i think if someone is kind enough to leave me the comments i so desperately hope for always, then i should be kind enough to say thank you.

probably the whumptober piece i wrote once where ochaco is slowly crushed to death by rubble. oops.

most of the fics i publish have happy-ish endings, i think? i'm pretty allergic to sad or angsty ends, for the most part.

not really. i've had some folks voice their dissatisfaction, but no real hate.

nope! never have and don't really have much desire to; there are very few cases where i think this works well & i'm not confident i'd be able to pull it off.

nope, but i did participate in a big bang which included some collaboration with artists!

i am not overly attached to canon ships for the most part. i will say i adore izuocha & kiribaku, and am a big time spike/faye shipper even though it always ends in tragedy.

15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

scent of a camellia. someone commented on it recently and i remembered how excited i was when i started it (i was still semi-popular at the time and others seemed excited for it, too, but it all fizzled out and i just don't have the motivation for longform stuff anymore).

16. What are your writing strengths?

i think my descriptions are okay!

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

not great with action and sometimes my character dialogue starts to all sound the same.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

i try to do so very sparingly if at all, and make sure the dialogue is still understandable from context (ie. the answer the character receives or something). when i do this, will typically provide a direct translation in the author's note for anyone interested.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

i posted the first chapter of my longfic (naruto) in early 2019.

20. Favorite fic you've written?

i'm very attached to my longfic. under this pseud, probably still the strength of vines. just really enjoy the concept and wish i'd been able to realize the original idea it sprang from. since i couldn't, the fic is a nice way for me to have written it out in some way.

Do you like Izuku and Ochaco's development as possible (or probable? idk where Hori wanna go with that) romance?

Cause I appreciated it (even tho it felt like the usual shonen romance) till the return of Izuku to UA, which made me see them more as platonic (and made me appreciate their bond way more tbh)

So from a writing standpoint, I'm not exactly a romance aficionado. It can really only come down to my preferences in what I like in a romance, but there are just some cheesy romance tropes I'm not into. I do think it's perfectly viable to analyze any relationship in any property, MHA included, for whatever dynamic you want. If you ask me to take a look at the potential romance in Izuku and Ochako's relationship, I can do that.

That said, this is a warning to hard-line IzuOcha shippers: I can't guarantee you'll enjoy everything I write about in this post.

To me, there are five major "sagas" in their relationship. Some of these I like, some of these I don't.

Saga 1: Beginning through the Internships Saga 2: Final Exams through Kamino Saga 3: Provisional License Exam through School Cultural Festival Saga 4: Joint Training Arc through Paranormal Liberation War Saga 5: Deku Retrieval Arc through to the present

Saga 1 was my favorite. This was when they were still getting to know each other and becoming friends. I like this part best because Ochako has the most characterization in the show. Her personality shines through and she's very entertaining. I also thought the stuff that happened between them in the Sports Festival was some of the most refreshing writing of opposite-sex characters I've seen in a while, platonic or romantic. Ochako has personal motivations that can be in conflict or in harmony with her relationship with Izuku, and the manner in which they interacted showed a special type of relationship for Izuku that he didn't have with any other character. It was nice variety in the context of everything else the show was giving us at the time. I wasn't necessarily dying for romance, because I do love a good platonic opposite-sex friendship too. But if it did take a romantic direction, I was excited to see how it went at the time.

Saga 2 just felt like it shoehorned the crush thing in there. It didn't really come from anything that came before it. I thought it was gonna be a good opportunity for some romantic humor, but it just turned out to be a bunch of embarrassed blushing and not much else. Wasn't really my thing.

Saga 3 tried to add something interesting to the mix with Ochako's jealousy which she tries to deny and squash, but...it doesn't come across as particularly deep or well-developed. Horikoshi kinda just throws it out there and then immediately ditches it. I wouldn't have been so annoyed if it didn't encompass all of Ochako's character for this saga. She didn't really do much of anything else at all. Even in the Overhaul arc, she didn't get any meaningful spotlight, and I mean this from an action perspective. After the awesome action she got in the Sports Festival, Horikoshi really pulled back on her and it felt like he was too afraid to make her get dirty and fight again, save for a brief moment when she pinned Toga in the woods at summer camp. I liked it better when Izuku was pining a bit after Ochako than the other way around.

Saga 4 was a bit better. There was finally some meaningful development between them with Ochako getting inspired to update her costume, saving Izuku as a development of her new character question of "who saves the heroes?", and--my favorite part--when she decides to trust Izuku when he says he can take Shinso on alone and she goes to take care of business elsewhere. But I notice these developments I like also happen to have non-romantic elements to them. It's really just when things are one-dimensionally romantic that I'm super disinterested. I like the complexity of other feelings even in their easy friendship. Platonic friendship that leads into budding romance brings at least a bit more flavor in the writing. That said, it's not a whole ton of flavor. I can see why other people would like it, but it's not the MOST exciting for me personally.

Saga 5 is again more exciting to me because of the non-romantic elements, kind of like you say. It's not that it's necessarily platonic, but it's just more interesting that Ochako's feelings seem more complicated now, and Toga has been added to the mix too. What we get in this saga especially puts me in a weird position where I'm rooting for Izuku and Ochako NOT to get together in the end, not because I don't like them or have a problem with the ship, but because it makes the overall story about their relationship since the beginning..."make sense" isn't the right phrase. It's just an interesting take on the trope in this genre. I really like the message it could potentially deliver on. I'm just not a big romance person in the first place, so the whole "there are even deeper things happening between people than just high school crushes" angle that doesn't necessarily mean romance speaks more to me. I don't really know what we get out of them getting together if that happens. But, as I said, I'm not big on romance to begin with, so I'm not the best judge of this. It could be we get a great message out of it and I'm just really bad at being able to see that at this stage. I will still be forced to lament what was lost in that case, though--because we would lose the far more interesting take on the trope if they were not to get together.

And that's why I say I'm not anti-IzuOcha, just anti-IzuOcha in canon. I think they're cute together and I really love their earlier dynamic. I think the fanart of them is cute. I love when they get along doing things. I love when people create excellent fan content for their favorite pairings. I just most like the idea of an ending where they don't end up together for the purposes of my own intrigue.

seeing people trashing bones for putting so much izuocha in the new op is so funny.

Because like.. why are you mad about this?? It's literally just a ship (and the most likely to become canon at the end as well)

And I'm not saying this as a shipper btw. Izuocha is fine (I prefer bakudeku and tododeku) but it's kind of obvious that they won't be canon. This is a shonen not a yaoi. If any Deku ship becomes canon it will be Izuocha, I don't know what you were expecting guys 😅😅

The most I hope for is that Horikoshi will make no ships canon at the end and make another statement about how stupid ship wars are (because if I remember correctly he already did it once in a chapter)

I think that would be good and leave the fandom free to explore what ships they like in fanworks

Anyway please stop hating on Uraraka just because you think she's getting in the way of your gay ships!! She doesn't deserve this.

HELLOOOO, I haven't had an ask for the bingo in a while. ANYWHOS

Platonically? I fucking LOVE izuocha. Their dynamic is so fun and interesting, both when it comes to hero work and general teen shenanigans.

Romantically, though?

Nope. Never.

The issue with romantic izuocha for me is honestly mainly the fact that their romantic dynamic is so...bland. You can find so many varying izuocha dynamics that SEEM to be right, because you can project anything/everything onto them. On top of that, I feel that romantic izuocha flattens Ochako's character to the superficial "she's doing heroic stuff because she loves Izuku!!" and then never exploring beyond that, when that's so far from the truth.

And of course, the shippers.

When I first joined the MHA fandom, I went from shipping nobody to bkdk, and I was indifferent to izuocha. I was like "eh. it's cute i guess, but not for me. whatever."

The shippers are who absolutely ruined it for me, to the point that I block izuocha artists and fic writers, because I know as soon as I open comments/tags, it will be FILLED with insult after insult towards bkdk, even though the art/fic doesn't even MENTION them.

I get hate from bkdk haters, from time to time. They're always either krbk shippers, or izuocha, and the izuocha shippers have ALWAYS been worse. Every single time.

I literally started to avoid krbk too, because I'd see izuocha shippers and assumed krbk would be the same.

Eventually though, I started getting krbk art and drabbles on my dash, and I started warming up to it a lot, because of the shippers. They made me go from actively avoiding to actually enjoying, reblogging, and sometimes even FOLLOWING krbk artists on here.

And yeah, that's my two cents lol. Thank you for the ask, anon! I hope you have a good day.

(also, I'm not saying ALL izuocha shippers are toxic. What I AM saying is all izuochas who I've run into on here/have interacted with me have been some incredibly rude, toxic people, who ruined a part of fandom for me.)

Okay.

I really hesitated posting this because I truly don't want to start any kind of beef - I really did enjoy the new episode and I'm as hyped up as you! I just need to get this out.

So. Why didn't Bones include the light in Izuku's eyes after Katsuki's apology?

Especially when they included it for Iida's words and for Uraraka, as we can see in the preview.

And guys, I'm not saying they should've cut it out! As we can see in the manga panels, it's supposed to be exactly this way. I'm glad they kept that in!!

I'm just saying they should to do the same for Katsuki's and Izuku's relationship, shipping them or not!

And maybe some of you might think this is way too small of a detail to be discussed. But in my opinion, it's worth noting that we're all "just" shippers. And that's because no ship has been confirmed, neither Izuocha nor Bkdk is canon. So what does that mean?

It means that all we have as shippers (and also as an audience in general btw), is what the characters do, say, think and how they react to certain stuff and especially all the implications associated with it.

Then why is Bones cutting some of those clues out when others are included, it just makes me sad and mad at the same time.

I want all the implications the manga gives us, Bones, thank you very much. And I know an anime won't ever be able to adapt the manga perfectly, some things are cut out, some stuff is added, I'm aware of that. To me it just seems unfair what they've chosen to cut out in this episode.

The whole episode and the rest of the apology-scene was stunning though, please don't get me wrong, I cried my eyes out! ❤️

A lot of times the problem with these het ships is just, that there is an incredible lack of balance in it that almost feels toxic.

And i don't mean dark fiction or anything, i mean fiction that wants you to see them as a good couple.

Like in bnha, again. Iz///ocha has an inbalance over the fact that for it to go forward, it is completely reliant on Ochako, and whatever she decides to do with her feelings.

Which makes her the only one that ever puts the effort into her crush, even if it ends up not actually moving forward, she still the one who's ever confronted with them.

And Izuku never does anything to respond or even indicate that he feels the same. Frankly, if he was to suddendly show that he loves her, that would just make him look like an intruder. Or maybe even imply "now that everything's over, here's your prize, hero!"

I agree!!

While IzuOcha is a popular ship, it's also not compared to BakuDeku and even TogaOcha got some growth over it.

It's not because "het is ew" because I have crossed other shippers who are okay with IzuOcha and/or have other M/F ships they like (I myself like KiriMina).

It's because it is underdeveloped and one-sided.

Izuku reacts to Ochako the same way he has with every other girl. Any time there's crush talk, it's only from Ochako's side. Nothing from Izuku, at all. He compliments her, but it came off more like a bestie hyping you up after you say something self-deprecating than actual "Hey, I like you, let's go out".

To be honest, I don't even think Horikoshi intended for IzuOcha to be seen a ship for people to root for. I don't think he actually ever cares for it because if he really wanted to, he could have made it more balanced. I say this because look at M/F pairings like KiriMina and KamiJiro.

They're more minor than IzuOcha are and yet for both pairings there's a lot more balance between them. Even by design!

I totally agree with you on that last bit.

If Izuku suddenly goes "Hey, I love you" or even after winning there's suddenly them hooking up, it will come off as Ochako being some prize because, again, Izuku hadn't shown romantic interest in her like that.

It's funny to me that some people will "BakuDeku are like brothers" but then turn around and want to apply the same tropes and scenarios that BkDk have been through to their ship romantically.

Example, there were people who actually want AFO!Shigaraki to attack Ochako next just so Izuku could save her. This was during the time when everyone was brought in through those portals into the same area.

When I was so agitated about that because one, you really want someone to potentially get killed just for a "shippy" moment? I DIDN'T LIKE SHIGARAKI ATTACKING BAKUGOU LIKE THAT!! Two, so Ochako couldn't be dealing with her situation without any inference? Like she really need to be put in a damsel situation and not be a hero? Because that's how it came off to me.

Look, I myself have ships, but at the end of the day when it comes to the main goal of a lot of these characters?

The last thing any of them really want is romance. If no ship becomes canon I am so okay with that.

A lot of these characters, especially characters like Izuku, Ochako, and Katsuki want to be the best heroes they can be. They want to save people, make them smile, be the best. That was their goal when they chose (and got to) attend UA.

I don't recall Ochako saying "I'm attending UA to get a boyfriend!"

So why reduce her to that? She did not look at Izuku on their first meeting and decided "I'm going to UA to be his wife". I thought she wanted to be a hero so she can make people smile and provide for her parents. Am I wrong? Did I miss something? Did I watch and read a different version of BNHA?

Why BakuDeku will be canon and not IzuOcha? Connection between TogaChako and the entire Love Square...

So this is pure hypothesis and I should clarify that I'm not a shipper when it comes to MHA. I just love the story, its premise and the various themes that it involves and I love to see what happens next. I don't particularly support any ships and so with all that being said, let's jump into it!

So, Ochako said that "You should never hide your true feelings or that face of yours".

Horikoshi is very very clever with the panelling.

While most people were debating on whether or not it was an IzuOcha ship bait, I think it signifies something completely different.

Notice how Ochako was thinking about Deku as she said those lines but even in Ochako's imagination, Deku wasn't looking at her.

HE WAS LOOKING AT BAKUGO.

I mean, look at it.

He was a bit embarrassed and looking at someone else. It is most probably a memory from when they were training before the second war (when Bakugo was showing his new move Cluster to Deku)

But why would Ochako think about Deku looking at someone else during such an important time?

It parallels how Toga thinks about Twice in a completely platonic sense. He was more of a brother to her (Toga and Twice->brother sister bond)

Plus it also signifies Ochako's journey of self acceptance. Think about it!

When we met Ochako in the beginning, she had an inferiority complex about her hero motivation and background.

She met Deku, who played her knight in shining armor, who had this cool quirk and everybody loved him.

He was a Hero, and always in the spotlight. Even All Might was interested in him (according to Ochako because she never knew about OFA)

So she admired him and wanted to be like him as in wanted to be a great hero like him but it backfired because Ochako is Ochako and Deku is Deku.

Throughout the series, we see these feelings grow.

But with admiration, what Ochako always felt was jealousy....envy.

The theme of envy has been very prominent in the series. Bakugo is the biggest example of it.

I admit that Ochako might have had a tiny bit of crush on Deku because who wouldn't?

He is a cute, clumsy boy, well natured, a crybaby at times but a real hero at heart. Who wouldn't fall for that?

Plus it's not wrong to have feelings.

But in Ochako's case, she always felt that Deku is so far away.

It is such a literal representation!

Deku was moving forward while Ochako felt like she was lacking, like she is behind him, literally and figuratively.

We saw how she was struggling to deal with whatever she was feeling.

At first it looks like she is struggling to deal with her feelings for him, but at this particular moment her feeling could only be described as envy.

Admiration could easily be confused for love but!

You're never jealous of the person you love!!

Because till season 3 Ochako was feeling both admiration for his best friend (which everyone else confused for love) and jealousy.

It was especially awkward because they were friends and their other friends kept on pointing in that direction.

But the real change came in the war arc when Ochako got Deku's letter and realised that maybe Deku is not that special after all.

They are good friends, and she was worried about him because she realised that behind the Hero persona that Deku has, he is also human.

Being a fellow hero, it was more relatable to her.

"Special powers are one thing but there is no such thing as a special person" she said in her speech.

Humanizing all heroes and villains.

I also wanna talk about this specific panel after Bakugo's apology.

Something about Ochako's expression here really struck a crod.

As Deku falls in Bakugo's arms, the camera pans on Ochako who just stands there observing, what true love is.

She didn't feel anything, because she realised the bond between BakuDeku is a bond of love.

Which is why she never made an effort to follow Deku's footsteps again.

The famous cliff scene: the day before the second war! Both of them knew they could die the very next day and yet they chose to say nothing... Nothing as in love confession, because there was nothing to confess.

Ochako realised that Deku loves and admires Bakugo and she's ok with that, so she'll focus on more important matters, like the Toga situation.

Because she realised, she can be her own Hero.

And now she wanted to help Toga. A girl like her, that was crying.

Because she has seen so many happy faces, she cannot help but wonder what made Toga cry.

Plus Toga said that only heroes and the people they protect are counted as people and the rest don't even matter.

As a person, Toga should be free to love whoever she wants but because of her quirk she is constantly judged by people except LoV.

Toga was mad because nobody accepted her throughout her entire life, her parents, her friends, Heroes and the one place where she found home was also snatched away from her.

Everyone is free to love and admire heroes then why not Toga. Everywhere she went, she was rejected.

Even Deku's quirk pointed out that there was no real malice behind TOGA's actions. Her love is so strong that it puts people in danger.

Heck, Danger sense didn't activate in the beginning because Toga didn't wanna hurt Deku.

But it was after she was rejected so badly, that she turned against them.

It was not about a girl asking a boy out but a villain asking a hero out.

And Deku not only rejected her completely but also judged her.

So if the world rejects her, she is bound to do the same!

Which made Ochako the perfect person to face Toga. Both are girls full of love but hide deep inferiority complexes.

Ochako understood this and told Toga her smile is beautiful.

Why? Because Ochako realised it the hard way, what happens when you suppress your feelings which is why she admired Toga and told her that Toga is right and she should never hide her feelings or her face because she is beautiful.

She admired Toga for her genuine honesty and told her that it is nothing to be ashamed of.

Toga went on a rampage because Deku hurt her (he was the final nail in the coffin) but just because Deku rejected her doesn't mean the end of the world.

Toga is free to live her own life, just because Deku rejected her doesn't mean her life is finished and if she really wants to have a girl chat, Ochako will always be there!

She'll give her blood to Toga for the rest of her life..!!

It's just Ochako's way of telling Toga that just because a boy rejected her doesn't mean her life has ended. That Toga is beautiful and has a lovely smile. And if toga wants to talk about it, Ochako will be more than willing to listen and support her for the rest of her life.

And such is the beautiful dynamic of TogaChako.

Do you think IzuOcha is well developed though? because I feel the romance aspect wasn't really that well developed like I can definitely see and know that they'll most likely will end up together(unless Hori throws us a curveball and doesn't have any endgame pairings but I doubt that), but I don't know it just doesn't feel like it really developed all that well which I guess makes sense given that's not the main focus of the story I don't know? I guess maybe I feel like that because I'm not really a shipper 😅

So here’s the thing

They’re not getting married and having kids within the timeline of the manga

They’re in 10th/11th grade, just starting to somewhat experience these feelings. And on top of that—you’re right that it’s not the focus of the story because the story has WAY too much other shit going on for it to be the focus. It’d be entirely stupid if it was and I myself would be annoyed.

So “is it well developed” is just…not important. They’re not shot gunning a wedding or anything. Ochacko’s ordeal with Toga is about a CRUSH. It’s just a crush! And it’s been portrayed as exactly that! And you can see Izuku’s appreciation in her presence and support too. They’re just crushing on each other, but it’s not a huge deal because *gestures toward the stuff that matters a lot more in the manga*

I used to think this was a flaw or whatever but honestly….I don’t view it that way anymore. Is there enough planted into the story to where it won’t be completely out of nowhere and a total asspull from thin air if we see them holding hands or going on dates at the end? Yes, there absolutely is. I don’t need Fruits Basket or OHSHC levels of romance development for two teens experiencing a confusing crush for the first time in their lives in the middle of a war to be convinced that they’d date later on.

People can critique it if they so choose, I’m not going to anymore, because honestly imo it’s dumb to need them to be SO DEVELOPED and dove into so deeply in order for people to be convinced they’d go on a date post war. I just, I find that kinda silly tbh given what the manga focuses on and explores outside of the romance that takes up like 🤏 this much of the manga, doesn’t interfere with anything, doesn’t take away from anything, all it does is just adds to it.

I really don’t care that they aren’t explored to extents like Tohru and Kyo or Tamaki and Haruhi like…this isn’t a romance manga. If it was we’d have a problem, but it’s not, so imo there’s no problem.
