This yr it seems like there will solely be three kilometres of river to skate on. The lake is lit until midnight but in concept you would skate across the clock. goal part 2 // hockey!chris
summary: your boyfriend tries to take some pressure off you by taking you on a late night ice skating date
part one, part three
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Chris,” I groan. “I have a final tomorrow. I really shouldn’t go out.”
“The fact that you have a final is the exact reason why you should go out,” he argues. We’ve been on the phone for ten minutes, the entire call consisting of Chris trying to persuade me to ditch my studying and head to wherever his plan is to take us. That's part of the issue. If I knew what he wanted to do, maybe I wouldn’t be so hesitant to leave tonight. “You’ve been so stressed out this semester. Let’s end it right.”
I go silent, weighing my options. When I don’t answer fast enough, Chris continues his methods of convincing me.
“Come onnnnn. I’ll come pick you up and we can go have some fun.”
I sigh, unable to win this argument.
“Pick you up in 15?”
“See you then.”
“Bye baby.”
I tidy up my study space, which consists of scattered notes and multicolored pens, color-coding different sections of my pages.
After my room is cleaned to my liking, which is just enough to where it doesn’t look like a tornado came through, I pull on a sweatshirt and another jacket over top, considering the weather in the North East is below freezing.
I run down the steps to my apartment complex, finding Chris in his car out front. The light hum of rap music playing seeps out of the car, and I’m met with the sound of no other than his favorite artist when I open the door.
The door opening catches his attention. He looks up from his phone, a soft smile on his face. “Hi.”
“Hi, pretty boy.” I cup his chin with my left hand as I buckle myself with the other, kissing his lips. When I pull back, his eyes are still closed, and his smile is only growing. “Where are we going?”
“It’s a surprise,” he finally says as he puts the car in drive and peels out of my lot. His hand alternates between holding my hand and my thigh, sometimes drawing circles on my knee, other times squeezing my hand and playing with my fingers. It’s obvious that his love language is physical touch. It’s like his battery dies if our bodies aren’t connected in some way, whether it’s him thrusting into me or him giving my hand soft kisses while he drives. I can feel him recharge just by touching me, and something about that makes me feel powerful.
The drive is silent on our part, other than the music playing lowly out of the speakers. I don’t ask question, but rather stare at him as he makes each turn, continuing down paths I’m unfamiliar with, insisting it’s the backway. Eventually, we pull up to a place I am very familiar with.
“The hockey rink?” I ask, watching him unbuckle and get out of the car. I quickly do the same.
“Yeah,” he says, tucking his hands into his pockets. He pulls his beanie down over his ears, which have turned a soft shade of red in the cold.
I jog to catch up with him. “Isn’t it closed for the night?”
“Mhm,” he hum, but he finds a way inside anyway. I follow him anxiously as we head to the locker room, where all of his hockey gear is stored. He grabs his own skates, tells me to wait for him to return, and comes back with skates for me.
“How’d you get those?” I ask timidly.
He tosses them down at the floor, then kneels down to help me tie them. “From the rentals.” I don’t bother making a point of the fact that no student is there working the rentals, and not only are we trespassing, but we’re also stealing. My anxiety is skyrocketing. I was already worried about my final and making sure I had ample time to study, and now I have my boyfriend breaking and entering with me as his stupid sidekick. “We’re fine, babe,” he assures me as if he can read my mind. “Do you know how often I come here to practice after hours? As long as we don’t fuck anything up, we’re fine.”
“So no stealing the zamboni?” I tease, starting to loosen up.
He breathes out a laugh, then stands after tying my skates before he rests his foot on a bench to tie his own. “Definitely not.”
He holds my hand as I struggle to walk properly on my skates. Once we make it to the ice, he takes my hands carefully, holding them securely as he steps backwards onto the rink.
“I got your hands,” he assures me. We’ve had numerous ice skating dates since we started going out, but still, my hockey boyfriend is unable to teach me how to maneuver on the ice.
I nod uneasily, trying to think of anything other than falling. Chris holds my arms, skating backwards slowly, pulling my body with him. I probably look ridiculous, but he’s grinning, happy to be sharing his safe space with me.
“There you go!” he cheers. “You got it, baby!”
I nod, smiling a bit, trying to lift my own feet and skate by myself. It works the first few strides, until I lose my balance and start to go down. He catches me before I can fall, hooking his hands under my arms and pulling me back up.
“That was really good. You’re doing a lot better than when you started.”
In no way am I trying to become an olympic skater, but it would be nice if I could stand on my own two feet when skating with my boyfriend who has played hockey since he could walk.
He continues to pull me around the ice, praising me for my attempts to take control of my own feet. Eventually, we lay down on the ice, one arm behind his head, and the other wrapped around me. We stare at the ceiling of the rink, a comfortable silence forming before I break it.
“What are we going to do when we graduate?”
This question has been eating at both of us. I’m not from this city, and he is. He has scouts looking at him for professional hockey, but he has no idea if he plans on playing in the NHL. I need to take advantage of getting my career started, but I don’t want to leave him.
“We still have another year,” he reminds me, but I know at this point that this is his way of avoiding my question.
“I know but I don’t know if I plan on staying in Boston,” I add.
He inhales sharply. “I don’t want to talk about this.”
I lift my head up, turning over to him so he can focus on me and our conversation. This is important, Chris. Please listen to me. “What's going to happen with us?”
“I said I don’t want to talk about this,” he repeats, his eyes burning holes in mine. I start to feel mine well up, and to stop myself from shedding a tear over his tone and the topic of conversation, I set my head on his chest, feeling his rapid heartbeat.
“I’m sorry,” I mumble.
It takes him a second, but he puts his hand on my back, his cheek pressing on the top of my head. “What final do you have tomorrow?” he asks, changing the subject.
“Psychology.” The sight of my colorful notes are engraved in my brain.
“What time?”
“Noon.”
“Do you want to get lunch after?” he suggests. “My treat since you’ve been working so hard.”
“That sounds nice,” I nod. “How are your finals going?”
“I’m passing,” he answers shortly. “That’s all that matters.”
I give him a look. He knows exactly what I’m thinking. The thing with Chris is that he’s very smart, he just doesn’t care about college, and I really don’t think he would have gone if he hadn’t received a hockey scholarship. The only reasons his brothers attended were because they received the same scholarship, and they all wanted to stick together. He’s majoring in Entrepreneurship. His brain is flooded with creative ideas that it seemed like the best option for him to be able to study while pursuing hockey.
“The classes that matter are the ones I’m doing better in,” he says, noting his few business classes. “The stupid shit like history that has no relevance to my degree, that’s a different story. All that matters is that I pass so I can play hockey.”
He hates talking about school. I can see it on his face. He wishes I would change the subject. It’s obvious.
I press a kiss to his soft lips. He returns the act, then shocks me when he speaks.
“Stay here for Christmas.”
I feel my heart fall into my stomach, I try not to stumble over my words. “I can’t, I have to visit my family.”
“Do you think you could come like… the day after, sometime really close to Christmas?” he poses instead. “I wanna feel like we’re celebrating the day of.”
It warms my heart that he wants to celebrate this together. We haven’t discussed much of it. We’re not really the gift giving kind of couple. We care so much more about these moments, where it’s just us holding each other.
“I’ll see what I can do,” I answer him, unable to give a clear answer. “I can definitely be here for new years.”
“Good,” he smiles, content. “You owe me a kiss.”
“Oh do I?” I tease, leaning up to him.
“Mhm.”
I press another kiss to his lips. His hands snake around my back, his tongue opening my lips before gliding against mine. A quiet moan leaves my mouth as his hand tangles in my hair. My hand holds his jaw, begging for more of him.
That’s when I flinch at the sound of the main lights being flashed on.
Chris pulls back, his eyes widening as he struggles to stand up. “Oh fuck.” He grabs my hand and pulls me up, skating off the ice and dragging me behind him. “Shit shit shit shit shit,” he chants.
“What is it?” I ask, trying to look behind me and find whoever is here.
Chris bends down in front of me, untying our laces and yanking our skates off our feet. I almost fall over at the force of him pulling mine off.
“Okay, well,” he starts, already out of breath. “I may have lied a little.”
My eyes widen. “What??”
I follow his jog to the locker room where he grabs his things and tosses me my shoes,
“I do come here sometimes to skate and clear my head,” he admits. “But that usually ends at 8, sometimes 9 depending on the day of the week.”
“What time is it now?” I ask, and when he turns his phone over to me, I feel my stomach drop.
1:22 am.
How long were we here?
“You guys can’t be in here!” someone shouts from a distance. “Trespassing on property can result in expulsion, and if you aren’t a student, I could have you arrested!”
My eyes widen, fear written all over me.
“Shh. It’s fine. Just follow my lead,” he says. I nod once, then watch him dig around in his hockey bag. He pulls out his helmet, tugs it down on my head to cover my face, then pulls his own hoodie up. He grabs my hand, and on his cue, I’m sprinting out of the building with him.
“Hey!”
“Go go go!” Chris tells me. I run in front of him, turning around at the sound of hockey sticks clattering on the floor.
Chris yanked down a bucket of 20 hockey sticks, causing a mess in front of whoever is chasing us, giving us a few extra seconds to get out of here.
I jump in the car, not even realizing that the helmet is still on my head. Chris’ wheels squeal as he speeds out of the parking lot, finally getting buckled once we’re away. The sound of his laughter snaps me back into it.
“What?!” I ask him, annoyed that he could find this situation funny.
“You look cute as fuck in my helmet.”
I reach for the face mask, trying to pull it off, only struggling in the process. He reaches over and removes it for me.
“I’m sorry about that,” he says, fixing my hair. “Garrett in there is a dick. He has this whole god complex because he works after hours. Weird as hell.”
“I should really go home and get some sleep before my final.”
He nods, guilt displayed on his face. “Can I have a do over tomorrow after your final? Your casual lunch date just got upgraded because I feel bad.”
“You’re lucky you’re cute,” I tease, kissing his cheek before he drops me off at home.

Omg, could you pretty please do a ice skating date with Aaron 🥺
everything
omg omg YES cw; bau!reader, established relationship, fluff and some suggestiveness <3
much to one's surprise, aaron hotchner was spontaneous, and it was one of the most romantic qualities he possessed.
the contrast was still enough to give you whiplash at times. once, aaron was the last person you would've thought to jump at an opportunity to stray from routine, orderly and structured in and outside the office. that's the reputation he still upheld when it came to the team. it was almost too hard to believe, despite your reassurances otherwise.
it had been a rare weekend date night; the two of you had just left dinner, and were heading back to the car when you came across the rink in the middle of the town square. before your brain could even process what it was, aaron was pulling you in the direction of the skate rental, peering back at you with a lively yet almost wise, cheeky expression on his face - he knew you would find this just as enjoyable as he would, probably more.
it was like a literal scene out of a movie, very hallmark-esque; colorful, twinkling lights surrounding the rink, soft snow flurries drifting in the air, the love of your life's hand in yours as you skated alongside each other, bundled up in a warm coat, hat, aaron was even sporting a scarf. the two of you made small talk, poking fun and laughing with each other if one of you merely slipped. the only correct way to describe it was pure magic.
as aaron talked about tomorrow's plans - jack wanted decorate the apartment for the holidays - you couldn't help but stare lovingly at him. he sent every part of you aflame; you were warm inside despite the near frigid cold, butterflies continuously erupted in your stomach, and just having him besides you, there weren't enough words to describe the feeling within.
you just kept thinking - this. this is how it's supposed to be. life, love, everything.
"why are you looking at me like that?" a chuckle shook through aaron's chest, gazing down at the ice with a mindful eye - weary and careful of potentially slipping and bringing you down with him.
you slid to a stop, gliding in front of aaron and grabbing onto both his hands. "because i love you."
aaron's adorable smile formed on his face, giving your glove-covered hands a squeeze. "or, is it because i look like a complete idiot?"
"well i mean, yes." you were quick to quip, deadpanning teasingly. aaron's laugh filled your ears and prompted you to release a laugh of your own. but, you shook your head. "no. again, because i love you."
aaron hummed in content. "how'd i get so lucky?" he gently pulled on your hand, and due to the slick ice, it was more than enough to cause your body to meet his, drawing you in for a sweet, quick kiss.
"funny, i was just asking myself the same thing." you grinned, running a hand along his chest before resuming to skate, towing him along. "have you even been skating before?"
"i must've at some point, i'm sure." aaron's lips formed into a smirk, separating your joined hands to place one on your lower back, sliding downwards. "better hold on just in case."
"careful." you playfully warned as your heart fluttered, narrowing your eyes jokingly at him. "skating doesn't give you the excuse to be handsy."
aaron's brown eyes always sparkled naturally, but add in the surrounding twinkling lights, they were simply ethereal. "says who?"

ice skating (luca fantilli)
day 1 of star’s ficmas event!
luca fantilli x reader
Tumblr media
You should have known Luca would plan this as a date. He was always in his element when he was on the ice. He grew up playing hockey and spent winter nights skating on outdoor rinks in Canada. Luca was excited though, so naturally you were excited.
Luca carried his skates in one hand, holding you hand in his other. You didn’t own your own pair of skates. It was a Christmas deal for the two of you. Luca would plan one date and you would plan another, it was easier than arguing over what to get one another for Christmas. Luca knew the rink better than you, it wasn’t Yost, he couldn’t get the permission to have the ice to jut him and you.
Luca paid the rental fees for your skates and led you over to the benches right outside the rink entrance. “Here, let me lace them up for you,” Luca offered, kneeling in front of you as you kicked off your sneakers. He chuckled at your mismatched socks as he got the skates on your feet. “Feel good?”
You wiggled around your foot, not used to the weight on your foot now. “It’s good.”
Luca got his own skates on before standing. “Careful,” he warned you of the small step onto the ice. He was already waiting for you on the ice. It was like his second home, he didn’t think before stepping onto the ice. There were other people there, most of them probably didn’t have the skating skills Luca harbored.
Although it wasn’t your first time skating, it still felt like you were a baby giraffe learning how to stand. Luca offered his hand and he took the lead, pretty much just pulling you along. “You having fun?” Luca was always worried you weren’t enjoying dates he planned. Like the one time he took you go-karting and that failed miserably. “I’m having fun, Lu,” you smiled over at him and you could see his shoulders relax a little.
Your nose was turning pink from the cold inside and outside but you were having fun. Luca spun you around once or twice and his heart swelled at your laughter. You weren’t like Luca, though, so about thirty minutes on skates that weren’t yours, your feet were beginning to help. Luca wasn’t too upset when you asked for a break, asking to sit down.
He got you a hot chocolate from the small cafe and sat next to you on the bench. You were content to sit there and people watch, you smiled every time a small kid skated by or got back on their feet to continue trying. Luca was shaking his leg, sort of impatiently as he stared back at the ice. “Luca, you can go skate more.”
He shook his head, “No baby it’s okay, I can wait for you or we can leave if you’re tired.”
You laughed, “Luca go skate.” He thought for a second. “You sure you won’t be mad or anything? We are on a date I can always skate at practice.”
“Go Luca!”
You didn’t have to tell him again, he quickly jumped back up and got onto the ice rink. Wowing random kids and racing around the rink, Luca was in his element. You happily watched with a smile on your face as your boyfriend raced some peewee hockey players, he let them win a race he could have easily won.
He was out of breath when he joined you on the bench again. “Got your zoomies out?” you teased as he sat next to you and began to take his skates off. You had already kicked yours off and replaced them with your actual shoes. “Have fun oogling at me?” he teased back.
Luca returned your skates at the counter and held his hand out for you like he had done on the ice. “Did you have fun?” he asked again. “I had lots of fun Luca, thank you.”
He gleamed happily as he opened your car door for you. Once he climbed into the car and started it, you grabbed his hand and placed it on your thigh. “Oh, by the way, for the date I planned, we are painting Christmas mugs and decorating cookies,” you grinned.

Hey hey can I pls request going on an Ice skating date w Hyunjin but he ends up getting hurt and getting a concussion and you have to call Felix to help. I’m in the mood for some fluffy comfort ❤️‍🩹🥹

Tumblr media
Winter was on the horizon which meant a lot of cute winter dates—walking in the snow, coffee shop dates, holiday window shopping, just to name a few. Hyunjin had found an ice skating rank nearby and asked his partner if they wanted to go. Obviously, the idea of a cute ice skating date was worth braving the cold.
Hyunjin was glad the day they decided to go was one of the slower days. Not too many people there so he could have a peaceful date with his partner. They still went with as many layers and face masks to hide themselves from cameras, and to keep warm.
Hyunjin paid for the rental skates and the couple sat down to switch into the skates before taking to the ice. Hyunjin got on the ice first and held onto the side wall before offering his hand to Y/n.
“Have you ever done this before babe?” Y/n asked as they joined him.
“Maybe once when I was a kid.” Hyunjin sighed as they slowly moved along the side, gloved hands joined together.
Hyunjin kept Y/n on the inside near the railing to keep them safe more than anything, just like he would when they were walking down the street. They moved slowly on the ice as people skated by. Occasionally stopping to take a few pictures for keepsakes.
The couple spent probably an hour skating around the rink before calling it a day and going to get something warm to eat. Hyunjin made sure Y/n got off the ice safely before he got off. But got too confident and slipped, falling back on the ice.
Y/n gasped and rushed to help their boyfriend up as he groaned. They’d seen a few people fall so no one made a scene when the undercover idol fell. Y/n managed to help him up and get on a bench.
“You okay?” Y/n fretted over him
“Back hurts and I hit my head,” The male groaned
“Imma grab our shoes real quick, okay?” Y/n asked
Hyunjin nodded as Y/n kissed his forehead quickly and went to the shoe storage area and grabbed their belongings. Getting back quickly and helping him switch back into his street shoes before switching hers.
“How do you feel baby?” Y/n asked as they saw him leaning forward and covering his eyes.
“Dizzy, too bright.” Hyunjin groaned, head just feeling too heavy.
“I’m gonna call someone okay babe? Stay here real quick.” Y/n pulled out their phone and looked to see which of the guys would be free. She knew the producers were busy working on things. Jeongin was at a vocal practice, and Seungmin and Lee Know were at Music Core. They were pretty sure Felix was off like Hyunjin.
They grabbed the skates and took them back to the desk as they clicked his contact, letting Hyunjin know they would be right back.
     “Hello?” Felix answered
“Hey, are you busy?” Y/n asked handing both pair of skates to the worker before making their way back to their boyfriend.
“No. Aren’t you and Hyunjin ice skating?” Felix asked
“We were. We got off the ice a little bit ago and Hyun slipped and fell. He hit his head on the ice.”
“Is he okay?” Felix sounded worried
“Said he feels dizzy and the light is bothering him.” Y/n took a seat next to their boyfriend.
     “Head hurt, any nausea?”
Y/n moved their phone away and asked the dancer if he was feeling anything else.
     “Really bad headache,” Hyunjin said
“Said he’s got a bad headache? You think he got a concussion?”
“More than likely. Send me what rink you’re at and I’ll come help you guys back to the dorm. Try and wait outside for me.”
     “Okay. We’ll see you soon.”
Y/n hung up and slowly helped their boyfriend up after sending their location to the Aussie. Y/n helped their boyfriend up and out of the area. They sat him down on a bench as they waited for Felix.
Hyunjin wrapped his arms around them and hid his face in their stomach. Trying to block the light that was bothering him and just wanting his partner near him right now.
“Does your back hurt?” Y/n asked him, rubbing his shoulders.
     “Yeah,” He mumbled.
“We’ll get you home soon. Sure Felix is almost here.” Y/n assured him as a car pulled up next to them.
Felix got out and walked over to the two. “How’s he doing?”
“Not better but not worse,” Y/n sighed
“Let’s get him back to the dorm.”
The two got the idol into the car and made it back to the dorm. Y/n made sure his room was dark so the light didn’t bother him more. Felix said he would call their manager to let them know what happened. Y/n thanked him and started unwrapping Hyunjin from his outer layers.
Felix came back into the room with some medicine and told Hyunjin to rest for the day. They didn’t have any big schedules this week, nothing to film, just rehearsals but the company was still going to put out a notice— not saying anything as to the real reason being the idol went on a date and fell.
“I’ll text you if we need anything.” Y/n thanked him
“I’ll call Chan and let the guys know to be quiet when they come home,” Felix told them before going back to his dorm
Y/n sat their boyfriend up to have him take the medicine before tucking him under the covers. “Lay with me,” Hyunjin said
Y/n shrugged off their layers and crawled under the covers with their boyfriend. Hyunjin wrapped his arms around them, laying his face in their chest and closing his eyes. “You’re the best partner I could ask for.” He said
“Get some rest bub. You need to get better and let that pretty brain heal.”
“Your brain is prettier,” He mumbled
Y/n laughed a bit and kissed the top of his head, lulling him to sleep.

New world descriptions, community lots (a bowling alley! an ice rink/diner! a movie theater!), and everything else you would want when you open up the game. It also includes plenty of multi-generational families spread across the worlds.
This is a pack-integrated save file: All packs (except Journey to Batuu and the dust kit) are utilized across the worlds. There are eco-friendly and industrial neighborhoods outside of Evergreen Harbor, lifestyles outside of Mt. Komorebi, vet clinics outside of Brindleton Bay, and more. Because of this, items or CAS details may be replaced or deleted by the game if you do not have all the packs.
Version 2.0 Changes

ᴺᴼᵂ ᴾᴸᴬᵞᴵᴺᴳ : Beautiful Things - Benson Boone
Keegan Russ x Reader
Synopsis: Keegan isn’t fond of ice skating. But he’d do anything to see you smile.
Word count: 908
Masterlist
“I can't believe I agreed to this…” Keegan grumbles out as you walk through the entrance of the ice skating rink. You look at him giddily, “come on, Keegs! It’ll be fun.” Keegan lowers his gaze to the floor as you walk up to the ticket booth. “The only fun thing will be watching you fall on your ass.” He quips. You playfully roll your eyes. “I get it. You don’t like skating. But it’s the winter season, we can’t just not go skating.” He’s about to retort before you interrupt him. “Two tickets please.” You tell the receptionist. She nods and hands you two tickets, “that’ll be 8 dollars. Rental skates are up ahead.” She informs you. Keegan swipes his card before you even get to take your card out of your wallet. She smiles at you and wishes you a good time. You move to the rental skates. “You didn’t have to do that, Keegan.” You say. He scoffs, “darling. You won’t have to worry about paying when I’m around. You should know this by now.” You smile, “it doesn’t hurt to try.” You mutter under your breath. He hears it and glances at you but says nothing.
You make it to the rental skates booth. You ask for two skates for both your and his sizes. The man running the booth asks for an ID card from one of you. You hand him yours. He takes it from you and checks it briefly before disappearing in the back. A few minutes pass before he finally emerges and hands you two pairs of skates. “That’ll be 6 dollars.” Keegan immediately pays, not giving you a chance. You shake your head. He grabs both of the skates and thanks the man. You walk side by side to the indoor skating rink. You spot an empty bench where you can put your skates on. You sit down and put on your skates. Keegan makes quick work of it. When he’s done you’re still struggling with the laces. He sighs and crouches down to your skates. He gently moves your hands away and does it quickly. He makes sure it’s tight before patting your ankle gently. “There, all done.” He says softly. You thank him and drag him over to the ice. The scowl on his face gets bigger the closer you bring him to the ice.
“Maybe I can just sit at the sides for now, darling.” He says. You roll your eyes and smile. “You’re getting on the ice whether you like it or not.” He glares at you playfully. You get on the ice albeit a bit wobbly. He gets on like there’s no difference between the ice and the hard floor. Eventually, you get the hang of it and skate around like normal. Keegan skates next to or behind you very casually, with his hands in his pockets. A couple of minutes pass by. You notice that he doesn’t stumble once. You come to a stop at the wall. He stops beside you. He smirks, “tired already?” You scoff, “nope. But I thought you hated skating. How come you’re so good?” He laughs at that. “Just because I hate it, it doesn’t mean I can’t be good at it.” He flicks your forehead gently. You look at him incredulously, “you learned it somehow.” He rolls his eyes, “my family used to go a lot when I was younger. That’s how I learned.” You shake your head, “so you do enjoy it.” He chuckles, “I never said that.” You skate away, leaving him behind. You turn your head to him, “whatever you say, Russ!” You call out to him. He laughs and shakes his head. “Unbelievable.” He mumbles before skating towards you. He quickly catches up to you. You try going faster but he’s too fast. Eventually, he wraps his arms around your waist and spins you around. You shriek in surprise and clutch onto him tightly. Not wanting to fall. He chuckles as he holds onto you tightly. He slows down and puts you down gently.
He laughs as you slap his chest lightly. “You scared the shit out of me.” You say with feigned annoyance. He smirks, “come on, don’t you trust me, sweetheart? I wouldn’t drop you.” You scowl at him before smiling. “You’re lucky I love you.” He shakes his head before planting a chaste kiss on your lips. “I am a lucky man.” He says softly. He chuckles and pinches your cheeks gently. “Are your cheeks turning red because of me or of the cold?” He teases you. You swat his hands away, “the cold.” You say confidently. It’s clear to both of you that you’re lying. It's definitely because of him. He throws his head back and laughs. He looks you in the eyes. His eyes crinkle as he smiles. “Right right. Because of the cold, sure.” He shakes his head, “god you’re cute.” He shifts backward a little bit and holds out a hand. “Come on. You wanted to skate right? Let’s skate.” He says smiling. You grin and take his hand. You both skate around the rink with your hands intertwined.
The way your eyes are crinkling with happiness makes his heart swell with love for you. If he has to skate more often to give you such happiness he would in a heartbeat. Ice skating with you isn’t too bad either. He’d gladly take you ice skating again if you ask.

Family Ties
Read it on Ao3
Tails slid the rental skates off his feet.  They were just a bit too small.  He’d have to ask Mom to get another pair.  That was probably okay, though.  She had said to let her know if the size was wrong.  It wouldn’t annoy her if it wasn’t.  Probably.
He looked up and watched as she handed Knuckles his own pair of skates.  Tails noticed right away that the skates had laces.  Knuckles looked at them and Tails could practically hear him thinking ‘what am I supposed to do with these?’  He looked between her and the skates and back, but she was sitting down and pulling on her own.
Knuckles looked out at the rest of the skaters and Tails did too. There were only a few other families (who were obviously trying not to stare at them), but as far as Tails could see, everyone else's skates had laces.  But there must’ve been non-lace shoes, right?  Mom had just accidentally gotten the wrong kind for Knuckles too.
Tails watched closely.  If Knuckles pointed out the mistake, he could probably tack on that he needed different skates as well.  He felt more comfortable with that.  Knuckles opened his mouth to say something when–
“Sonic, wait!  You have to switch your shoes first!”  Mom got up and hobbled off wearing only one skate.
“I wanna see if I can run in place on the ice!”
“I think you’re just as likely to run right into the side of the rink.” Dad steered Sonic away from the ice.
“Aw, come on.  Just one lap?  I’ll go so fast they won’t even see me–”
It looked like this was going to wind up being a debate, Tails thought.
Knuckles watched them, fiddling with one of his backpack straps.  That had been a debate too.  Mom was worried if he carried the Master Emerald out on the ice he’d fall and hurt himself landing on it.  Knuckles refused to leave it behind or even far out of sight.  In the end, she’d allowed him to carry it in a backpack in exchange for him giving in to their other debate: whether or not he should wear a coat.  (Tails didn’t mind having to wear his own jacket and scarf though, it was chilly here and he didn’t have his winter fur yet.)
Knuckles glanced his way.  He watched as Knuckles’ eyes slid down to the skates in Tails’ hand.  At least they were in this together.  Maybe they could solve the problem together too.
Tails hopped down from the chair, sliding his shoes back on.  “Um… I’m going to get some different skates,” he said before he could overthink it.  “Do you want me to ask for snap shoes for you?”
Knuckles scowled and stood.  “I can ask myself,” he grumbled.
But Knuckles let Tails lead the way from the stands back up to the rental counter.  Which was weird.  Usually it was Tails following as Knuckles loudly declared to the cashier: ‘My brother requested NO pickles!’  Instead, Knuckles kept looking around, which made Tails feel like he had to look around too.  One thing he noticed: no one was wearing snap skates.
Tails hated talking to cashiers or… any customer service kind of person.  It made him anxious.  But since Knuckles was being weirdly quiet, it was up to him to do the talking.
“E-excuse me,” he asked, standing on his tip-toes to see over the counter edge.  “Can we swap lace skates for some snap skates?  And switch sizes?”  He set his skates on the counter.  He hoped that was okay.
Humans always either acted like Tails was some weirdo freak… or that he was really cute.  The guy behind the counter smiled real wide and Tails knew that here it was the latter.
The clerk leaned over the edge of the counter so Tails could step back and didn’t have to stand on his toes.  “Hey, little guy!”  He said in a candy-sweet voice.  “You said you want ‘snap skates’?  What’re those?”
“Oh, um… you know… like snap shoes?”
The clerk looked confused.
“Um… button shoes?  They’ve got little magnets in them?”
Now he looked even more confused.  Tails hadn’t expected this.  He glanced back at Knuckles.
“I think they do not have any,” Knuckles said.  “It is alright.”
Tails wrung his hands, his tails twisting around each other.  That wasn’t right… Knuckles never gave up when Tails said he’d just wipe off the pickle juice.  Tails couldn’t give up now!  He turned back to the clerk.  “Aren’t there any skates without laces?”
“Oh, like velcro?  Sure, little guy.  What size do you need?”
Both of them perked up at that.  Tails looked excitedly back at Knuckles.  His big brother stepped forward, holding up his laced skates.  “I require an adult human male’s ‘size twelve’.”
“Oh.”  The clerk leaned back and looked at Knuckles in surprise.  He wasn’t giving him the ‘I think you’re a freak’ look, but he definitely didn’t think Knuckles was cute either.  “Uh… sorry, man, we only have velcro skates in kid sizes.”
Knuckles’ shoulders slumped along with Tails’.  “Um… you don’t have any other kinds of no-lace shoes?”  Tails asked.
Knuckles had already turned and walked away before the clerk could finish apologizing again.  Tails wavered between following and staying to mind his manners and thank the man before he remembered he needed to switch his own skates.  As soon as he had the new size he hurried back to the stands, feeling extra aware of all the strangers glancing his way.
Knuckles was sitting with the family again, his skates on the floor beside him.  He watched Mom watch Sonic tie his skates.  “Remember to get them good and tight,” she said.  “It’ll hurt your ankles if they’re loose.  And tuck the extra string into the lower straps–yeah, like that–that way you won’t accidentally trip on them!”
“Yeah, yeah, I got it Mom.”
Dad looked up from tying his own laces and saw Tails standing there holding his skates.  “You need help, bud?”
“Oh!  No, I’m okay.”  Tails hopped up to sit next to Knuckles and pulled off his shoes.
He thought Knuckles would ask for help.  Or… more likely Mom or Dad would offer.  But Knuckles didn’t say anything and–
“Last one on the ice is a rotten egg–and it’s even a fair fight ‘cause I cannot run in these things!”  Sonic yelled.
“Hang on, let me put my purse in our locker.”
“Should we put our shoes in there?”  Dad asked.
“Oh yeah!”  Sonic said.  “I was just hearing on the news about this ‘Stinky Shoe Bandit’!  Better be careful, Dad!”
“I doubt anyone is going to steal anybody’s shoes.  And even if they do, we can always buy new shoes!  But my wallet is definitely getting put away.”  Mom hobbled off toward the lockers and Dad hurried to follow Sonic.
Nobody remembered to check on Knuckles.
Tails stared down at his socked feet and the skates with their long, skinny laces.  He realized with mounting dread that he might need to offer Knuckles help.  Knuckles!  He was good at pretty much everything… except anything to do with technology.  But other than that, he could do anything!  Except… he couldn’t tie laces.
But some species just weren’t built for stuff like that!  Their fingers were too short or their claws too long or they had webbed fingers or… whatever!  The point was it happened plenty on other planets and there were usually other options available.  Apparently not here though.  Here, it looked like it wasn’t something people really thought about.  Maybe that was why Knuckles was being so quiet… across the galaxy, people would look at his mitts and his snap shoes and know.
Here Knuckles had to admit he needed help.  And he never needed help.  He was the one who gave help.  That’s probably why Mom and Dad hadn’t thought to offer… and why he wasn’t asking now.  And why he’d probably just get annoyed with Tails if he tried to help.
His conflicted thoughts must have shown on his face.  “What is wrong?”  Knuckles asked.
Tails looked up in surprise.  “Uh…”  A perfect lie suddenly hit him.  “I need help!”
Knuckles perked up.  Always ready to assist.
That thought had Tails plucking up his courage.  “Tying these skates is kind of tricky…” he said.  “Could I practice with you first?”
“Oh.”  Knuckles frowned slightly.  Tails could see the gears turning in his head.  Was tying skate laces really that much different from shoelaces?  After a second, Knuckles shrugged.  He didn’t know enough about tying laces to call Tails’ bluff.  “You may practice on me,” he said.
Tails hopped down from his seat, breathing a subtle sigh of relief.  Knuckles snapped the magnetic tops off his shoes and pushed them aside with his foot.  Then pulled on his skates.  Once they were on his feet, he stopped and looked up at Tails.
“L-leave it to me!”  Tails replied, standing up straight and proud before he knelt down and got to work cinching the laces.
He pulled the strings tight around Knuckles’ ankles just like Mom had said.  “How’s that feel?” He asked.  “Too tight?  Too loose?”
Knuckles rolled his ankle a little.  “It is sufficient,” he said.
Tails got back to it.  It was a little weird tying shoelaces from this side of the shoe.  Plus Knuckles was watching him like a hawk the whole time.  Tails had to restart once, which probably helped sell his lie that he needed practice.  He managed to get the first skate tied before there was a loud thump! on the dasher boards across from their seats.
“Wait, Knuckles, is Tails tying your shoelaces for you?”  Sonic cried as his face popped over the top of the boards.  “Oh my god… can you not tie your shoes?!”
Knuckles’ quills bristled.  “Of course, I can!”  He said too quickly and too loud.  He was such a bad liar.
“Wait, what?”  Dad asked as he came up behind Sonic.
“It is nothing,” Knuckles said at the same time as Sonic announced:
“Knuckles can’t tie his shoes!”
“He can’t?”  Oh dear, Mom was back too.
Knuckles crossed his arms with a huff.
“You can speak like a billion languages but you can’t tie your shoelaces?”
Knuckles gave Sonic a dirty look, but before he could say anything, Tails piped up:  “That’s not nice, Sonic!”
He immediately wilted as his whole family looked at him in surprise.  Oh gosh… he’d scolded Sonic!  He’d just been so surprised that Sonic would tease Knuckles about something he couldn’t change… But of course now he thought about it, Sonic grew up around humans.  He probably thought it was a ‘knowing’ issue and not a mechanical one.
Ears folded against his head he dedicated his full attention to tying Knuckles’ laces as quickly as possible.  If he’d looked up he would’ve seen the very pointed look Mom was giving Sonic.
“Uh… okay, point taken.  Um.  Sorry, Knux?”
Knuckles just let out a grunt.  He was done with this conversation.  But Mom wasn’t just yet:
“I’m sorry too, honey.  I should’ve checked if you needed any help.”
“I don’t need help,” Knuckles said.  “Tails was only practicing his lace-tying skills on me.”
“So… Do you know how to tie laces?”  Sonic asked.
“Do you know how to shut up?”
“Okay, neither of you two talk to each other until Tails has his skates on,” Mom declared.
Oh gosh… Tails wasn’t sure if that put pressure on him to go fast or slow.  He tied them quickly, just in case.
“Fine!”  Sonic huffed and disappeared over the boards once more.
“Fine,” Knuckles grumbled.  He stood from the chair.  And nearly fell over.
“Oh, careful!”  Mom sounded like she was trying not to laugh as she grabbed his arm and helped him stand upright.
“These are hard to walk in!”
“Yeah, they’re not really built for walking in, but they’re perfect once you’re on the ice!”  Mom knelt and checked the lacing on Knuckles’ shoes.
“Good job, bud,” she said to Tails.  She checked Tails’ laces too.  With her back to Knuckles she met Tails’ eye and whispered.  “Thanks for looking out for your brother.”
Tails flushed under his fur.
“What was that?”  Knuckles demanded.
“I said maybe when we get home, we can all practice tying laces together?”
Knuckles frowned.  “No, thank you,” he said.  He didn’t elaborate further, just crossed his arms over his chest and looked at Tails expectantly.
Tails’ eyes flicked between Knuckles and Mom and back.
He didn’t say that Knuckles should explain a bit more to Mom, but he definitely thought it.  Knuckles must have picked up on it; his expression shifted into a scowl.  When he turned back to Mom his mouth was twisted into a grimace.  He held up a mitt.  “These are not really built for tying shoelaces… But they are perfect for punching!  Also digging!  And swimming and climbing too!”  He bumped his fist over his puffed up chest.
“Okay…”  Mom said.  She looked down at Knuckles’ gloves and then her eyes slid to his discarded shoes.
Knuckles must have felt like he’d sufficiently proven echidna capability, because he wibble-wobble-walked off to the gap in the boards with his head held high.
Tails glanced back at Mom and saw her picking up Knuckles’ snap shoes curiously.
“Um… Are you coming, too?”
“Oh, yes. You go on ahead.  I’ll be right there.”
There was a bit of a clog at the rink entrance.  Sonic was taking a little bit of extra time figuring out skating.  He clung to the railing while Dad ran through the basics. Knuckles stood at the threshold, listening in.  Tails came beside him and realized that he couldn’t reach the railing.  Uh-oh.  Well, that was alright.  He could learn without the figurative training wheels.
Knuckles let out an annoyed hum and Tails instinctively cringed.  Was Knuckles annoyed that they’d been caught by Sonic?  That he had to explain himself to Mom?
“You are too short,” Knuckles said.  He grabbed the edge of the baseboard with one mitt and held out the other.  “Hold on to me.”
“Oh… thanks Knuckles.”  Tails took the offered mitt.  Knuckles’ mitt was practically as big as Tail’s whole torso so his hand looked extra teeny tiny in his older brother’s giant fist.  With Knuckles leading the way, they took their first unsteady steps out onto the ice.  It was nice that Knuckles had offered to help.  Made him feel… the opposite of how being scared of annoying him felt.
“Oh, Tails!”  Tom called from where he was trying to get Sonic to stand right.  “Do you want a bucket?”
“What?”  Tails looked up to see another little kid scooting around the middle of the rink, using a stack of upside-down buckets to keep his balance.  The kid was staring at them of course, but a sharp look from Knuckles made him stop.
Tails appreciated the ingenuity of the bucket but… he looked up at Knuckles who looked equally unimpressed with the technique.  “Um… I’m okay,” he said.
“You sure?”  Tom asked.  “The bucket won’t fall down and take you with it.”
“I will not fall!”  Knuckles said, outraged.
He fell immediately.  Then Sonic laughed so hard that he fell too.  Tails avoided the pile-up only because Knuckles let go of him.
“Alright, we will try this again!”  Knuckles said, determined.  “Hold my tail and I can use my arms for balance.”  He turned and pointed his funny crooked tail in Tail’s direction.
“Uh… won’t that hurt if I fall and pull on it?”
“Of course not!” Knuckles boasted.  “The bend is for little ones learning to walk to hold onto!”
“Really?”  Tom and Sonic asked as one.  Sonic’s skepticism was undercut by the way he was slowly and unintentionally doing the splits against the boards.  Tom rushed to rescue him.
“That is what my father said…” Knuckles trailed off like it’d only just occurred to him that might’ve been just a little kid story.  “Regardless, my tail is very sturdy.  Much stronger than yours.  You can pull all you need.”
The little tip wiggled like it was waving to Tails to go on ahead and grab it.  Tails hesitantly took hold.  It felt like a rock covered in bristles… just like all the rest of his brother’s ‘one million percent muscle’ body.
“Okay, I think I’m ready to try again!”  Sonic said.  He pushed forward, moving along with half his usual grace.  Tom kept close to his side, glancing back at Knuckles and Tails and looking around for Mom.
Knuckles took a few experimental steps forward, dragging Tails after him.
Tails wobbled and bobbed, his tails whipping this way and that as he tried to keep his balance.  Knuckles glanced back at him over his shoulder and he feared for a moment that he was tugging too much.  “You know, you do fly with your tails.  They must be quite strong!  Have you ever tried lifting weights with them?”
“Oh, um…”  Tails' knees shook as he tried to keep his balance.  “I’ve lifted you while flying, does that count?”
And then Knuckles actually smiled!  Tails was so surprised–he could count on one hand the number of times he’d made Knuckles smile.  Distracted, he stumbled and wobbled, trying to keep his balance while his feet kept moving without him.  Even when he thought for sure he would fall, Knuckles’ tail was completely firm and still.
“Lean forward more,” Knuckles said.  “And bend your knees a bit.”
“What he said,” Dad added.  “It helps if you lower your center of gravity.”
Tails thought his center of gravity was easily the lowest in the whole rink, but he did what they said.  It did help.
Knuckles focused his attention on the ice below them, taking smooth, short steps.  Tails watched his feet and tried to move the same way.  Knuckles’ movements became more confident, but Tails was still unsteady.  He looked up at his big brother’s broad back and watched how his dreads swayed from side to side over the back of his backpack,  purposefully shifting his weight with each step.  Tails mimicked his movements, stepping in time with Knuckles.  Immediately his movements felt smoother.  He was getting the hang of it!
Mom skated up beside them.  Like Dad, she didn’t need to hold the wall at all.
Dad looked over expectantly.
“I put Knuckles’ shoes in our locker.”
“Because of the Stinky Shoe Bandit?”  Sonic asked as he did a funny T-pose shuffle across the ice.
“Because I realized his shoes would be harder to replace if someone decided they wanted to steal shoes–”
“Because they’re so stink–”
“Because they’re special shoes from outer space.”
Knuckles puffed up at that.  “My shoes have received a place of high honor!”
Sonic rolled his eyes so hard he lost his balance and had to cling to the wall.  “That’s literally nothing to brag about,” he said.
Knuckles huffed.  “Well then, how about this?”  He let go of the wall and pushed away, skating around Dad and Sonic and pulling Tails after him.
“Woah!”  Tails cried out in surprise and delight.  He hung on tight, keeping his posture like Dad and Knuckles suggested.  Knuckles was going fast enough to blow his bangs back and Tails tummy flipped whenever his balance shifted too quickly.  But it was fun!  Like flying, but even easier!
When he realized Knuckles wasn’t going to return to grabbing the wall, Tails focused on copying his movements.  It was just like dancing with Sonic–all he had to do was follow his brother's lead!  Halfway around the rink, he had it down.
“What the heck, you hadn’t even heard of ice skating this morning!” Sonic said as the two of them passed him a second time.
“I am a fast learner,”  Knuckles gloated without stopping.
“Tell that to our last two microwaves!”
“I cannot hear you because of how much faster than you I am going!”
The third time they passed Sonic, Tails felt confident enough to slowly let go of Knuckles’ tail.  His older brother looked over his shoulder, slowing as Tails came up beside him.  He wobbled a little, but stayed upright.
“You are a quick learner too!”  Knuckles praised.
Tails flushed under his fur.  “Heh, I um… I had a good teacher.”
There was a loud thumping and scuffing sound and they both looked over and watched as Sonic hurried across the center of the rink, pushing an overturned bucket in front of him.  Halfway through he jumped up and sat on top, letting his momentum carry him.
Knuckles and Tails stopped as Sonic drifted to a halt in front of them.  “I have decided,” he said magnanimously.  “Since you two are both so slow off the ice: I will be a gentleman and let you take the W here.”
Knuckles shot Tails a cocky grin.  “Perhaps I should teach Sonic now too.”
Sonic leaned back on his bucket with a frown.  “How come I can’t tease you about the shoelaces, but you can tease me about ice skating?”
Tails suppressed a wince.  Knuckles probably wouldn’t like the reminder.  But Knuckles must have been having too good a time, because he actually answered: “Because my fingers cannot bend that way, but your feet work just fine.”
“Touche.”
“Also I was not teasing that time.  I thought it might be more helpful to receive training from someone more similarly proportioned to you than Tom.”
“‘Similarly proportioned’,” Sonic repeated.  He looked Knuckles up and down then looked at Tails.  “Okay, maybe between the two of you.”
“Tails can help too!”
“I can?”  Tails didn’t think he was that good yet.
“Yes, you are very good at being a helpful brother!”  Knuckles smiled at him and there was a knowing gleam in his eye.  Maybe Tails’ lie earlier hadn’t been that good after all.  But Knuckles didn’t seem mad at all, he actually seemed appreciative!
“Alright, I’ll allow the both of you to help me.  But first!” Sonic tipped his head to the side and Tails followed his gaze to see Mom and Dad skating along the wall, holding hands while Mom showed something to Dad on her phone.
Sonic shifted on the bucket so he was seated squarely and held out both hands.  “You two can pull me!”
“And that will help you learn?”  Knuckles asked.
“Nope, but if you pull me super fast and let go I’ll go flying and it’ll be awesome!  But we aren’t supposed to do it so that means we can only do it once.”
***
“One more picture!  Sonic demanded as they stepped off the ice.
Tails fumbled after him.  It felt weird walking after skating so long!
“One sec!”  Dad said, pulling his skates off.
Mom had already taken lots of pictures (some very sneakily while the three of them had been goofing off on the ice), but she and Dad seemed to be game for any photo opportunity where Sonic would voluntarily stay still.
Sonic was busying himself taking a bunch of silly selfies with the bucket when Tails noticed Knuckles sitting on the bench behind Dad.  The corners of his mouth slipped down as he looked down at his skates.  He probably couldn’t untie his shoes either.
Mom appeared, kneeling by Knuckles’ feet with a smile.
“Let me help you get those off,” she said.
Knuckles’ expression crumpled into a pout and for a second it looked like he was going to insist on doing it himself.  Mom handed him his snap shoes.  “Also here’s these back from the honored locker.”
“Ah!  My shoes return, victorious!”
“What did they win?”  Mom grabbed one of his skates.
“Most important shoes!”
She laughed, undoing the knot and uncinching the strings in quick, smooth motions.  “Dad and I were thinking about getting some hot cocoa, what do you think?”
“I think that I like cocoa.  And it will help to warm you up.”
“Warm me up?”
“Both of you!  You fuss over us to wear these–” he pulled at his jacket “--over our fur when you have no fur of your own!  I worry, you know.”
Mom beamed.  “Thank you,” she said.  “That’s sweet of you to worry.”  She patted his ankles.  “And you’re right, I could use some warming up!  Get your shoes changed and we’ll go get in line!”
Knuckles looked down to see Mom already had his skates undone.  He looked like he’d hardly realized when she’d done it.  Honestly Tails was impressed, but Mom liked to tell stories about vets needing fast hands so he shouldn’t be surprised.
“Hey Tails!”  Sonic appeared in front of him, pushing the bucket into his hands.  In a second he was behind him, hands under Tails’ arms, and zooming the both of them over to Knuckles.
“One last picture!” Sonic ordered.  “Us and Bucket Buddy!”
“I agree, we should commemorate Sonic’s noble steed.” Knuckles patted the top of the bucket.  “Thank you for throwing Sonic into the wall.”
“I’m pretty sure that was you.  Using your strength when I said not to–”
“I did not!  It must have been Tails.”
“What?!”
“Alright, I’m ready,” Dad said as he pulled out his phone.
Sonic leaned in on one side as Knuckles leaned into the other.  The air was quite cool but Tails felt very cozy with his brothers on either side.
“Smile!”  Dad said.
And Tails did.

~ It may be cold outside, but the joy of watching other people fall on the Ice Rink warms both yours and Tsukki’s hearts.
Tumblr media
The city certainly outdid itself with this year’s holiday lights display at the park. Every tree and naked shrub is adorned with hundreds of little multicolored twinkly lights. Giant glass ornament sculptures line the walkways between the playgrounds, fire pits, and picnic benches, making it look extremely festive.
A paper cup of coca attempts to warm your mitten-clad hands as you try to match your boyfriend’s long strides, passing the delicate snowflake sculptures that rest upon the frozen lawn.
Like a giant marshmallow, Kei Tsukishima is bundled up in layer upon layer of winter outerwear. But somehow, he still shivers as he moves. You think it has to do with that lanky frame of his that you love, but it also could be that he, unfortunately, is the one getting the brunt of the winter wind as you walk.
The two of you have seen most of what the park has to offer, but you haven’t made it yet to the spot you have been wanting to check out the most: the ice skating rink.
“It’s getting colder, y/n,” he shivers, clutching his coffee cup even tighter. And looking down at you with ruddy cheeks, “If we stay out here much longer, we’re gonna catch hypothermia and not make it to Christmas.” Despite his words, you see the way his eyes crinkle in amusement at his own sarcasm, so you know not all hope is lost.
“Could we check out the Ice Skating Rink before we go?” you ask, looking up at him with big eyes. You know that once the two of you find a cozy spot to spectate next to one of the mini fire pits, he won’t be complaining about the cold for much longer.
“We’re not going skating, are we?” he asks, the cogs in his head turning inquisitively.
“Not at all,” you smile, “I just thought it would be cool to check it out, maybe watch some people fall on their butts in the ice.”
There is a light of hope behind his eyes as he stops in his tracks. The smile on his face is nothing less than joyful as the realization of your words wash over him. “People slipping?”
“Not just people,” you grin, leaning over to his ear and whispering into his ear. “Children.”
He snorts and turns away from you quickly. You know your boyfriend well, and there are only a few things funnier than watching little kids faceplant on the ice. Whenever you play those try-not-to-laugh challenges, it’s the five-second clip of a child running into the door that sends him over the top in ugly laughter.
“I guess we could watch for a little bit,” he says happily, taking your hand and leading you down the lighted pathways toward the Skate Ribbon. There is a spring in his step that wasn’t there as he walks, and you can’t help but wonder if the promise of people eating shit will convince him to go out more with you.
It does and It will.
Rounding the bend, you are amazed by the scene in front of you. What you knew in the summer months as the park’s roller skate ribbon has been transformed into a little winter wonderland. Blue and purple icicle-shaped lights are secured to the park’s metal poles and drape above the ice, illuminating the ground in color.
The little skate rental spot has been transformed as well. Gone are the roller skates and blades, and now all you can see are slightly worn ice skates on the long shelves.
Most people in the area are on the ice skating along the ribbon loop or gripping the railing for dear life, but there are a few more confident individuals in the center of the ice spinning around like they were born to do it.
It’s impressive, for sure, but not what either of you came here for.
“There’s a spot over there that looks warm.” Kei comments, pointing his cup of cocoa towards an empty seating area. The flames of the little bonfire burn lowly next to a cushioned metal park bench.
“It’s warm over here.” You sigh in relief as the heat from the flames permeates the air around you, warming your wind-chilled face. Now that you have another source of warmth, you are finally able to take a nice long sip of your hot chocolate. The rich liquid is still warm but not boiling, as it tingles your tongue.
“Very,” he nods, sitting right next to you on the bench. He follows suit and takes a polite sip of his own hot chocolate that quickly turns greedy. Sometimes, you forget about that little sweet tooth of his until he indulges it properly.
The two of you have the perfect view for people watching as people skate past your bench. Chuckling as children and adults alike fall onto their bottoms and drink your hot chocolate until only a bit of foam remains at the bottom of the cup. You toss it into the trashcan behind you as Kei downs the rest of his. It’s funny how the both of you forgot about the chilly air around you as you enjoy the warmth the wipeouts of the skaters provide.
He looks just beyond you at the park’s concession stand. “Do you want another cup?”
“Not yet, check them out,” you say eagerly, spotting a young couple skating side by side; one girl looks much more skilled on the ice than her date as she occasionally lets go of her hand to twirl a bit on her own, with movements as graceful as a swan’s. Her date, on the other hand, wobbles in her skates like a Bambi on ice, reaching for the railing for support.
“I bet you another hot chocolate that she’s going to fall as they go around the corner,” Kei says mischievously. His marshmallow-scented breath tickles the shell of your ear as you chuckle.
“I counter that and say that she’s not only going to fall, but she’ll take her date down with her when they try to help her,” you say confidently as the pair approach the corner together, once again hand in hand.
“I love you,” he sighs, craning his head down in your direction to kiss the crown of your head. “You make me feel like less of a jerk when I’m with you.”
“And I love you. You make me feel more able to say these kinds of things out loud without feeling bad,” you declare as the couple reach the corner.
Just as you predicted, the less skilled skater lose their balance on the turn. Her legs seem to flail around as she trips, still holding her date’s hand. They crash to the ground in a bundle of limbs and padding as other people try to get out of their way. You wince and try to stifle your snickering into Tsukki’s jacket sleeve at the rather funny fall.
It’s much funnier when you realize that no one was hurt.
“You’re gonna get us caught,” he whispers, trying to hide his own amusement. “You gotta keep it to yourself until they’re gone.”
You’re still staring at a loose thread on his padded winter coat as you respond. “Are they gone yet?”
“Still on the ground.”
You bring your attention back to the ice rink and see the two women laughing at themselves before helping each other clumsily off the icy ground. They link hands once again and skate off like nothing ever happened.
“Now, can we laugh?” you ask as they go out of sight.
“Not yet, look over there.” he nods his head to the left side of the rink, where some more experienced skaters are twirling mid-air before landing on the ice with one foot. It’s fascinating to watch, but you realize that your observant boyfriend is looking beyond the figure skaters and at a group of middle schoolers who look impressed by their movements.
Two of the boys separate from their group, bumping shoulders on the ice as they begin to skate toward the two of you. Gathering speed for what you assume to be a jump of their own.
“That’s not gonna end well,” you murmur, noting that the teens are proficient at skating in a straight line but clumsy on the corners, gripping the railing and propelling themselves around the bend.
Tsukishima, like the magnificent bastard he is, never takes his eyes off of the impending wipeout and gives your hand a squeeze. “Double or nothing, they cause a pile-up.
You can practically taste the next round of hot cocoa as you meet his gaze. “You’re on.”

12 Days of Christmas Masterlist
Tumblr media
The winter chill has settled over Brooklyn, New York, covering the streets in a layer of pristine snow. School has just gotten out for winter break and it seems like the crime has died down a bit, so Miles hasn't really had anything to do. Feeling a bit restless, he glances out of his window at the snowy world below. With a sigh, Miles reaches for his phone, deciding to make his day more interesting and text his best friend, Y/N.
Miles: "Yo, you busy?"
You were in your home, lounging in your room as you scroll on your phone. A notification shows up at the top of your screen and you see it's a message from Miles. You look at the text you received and raise an eyebrow, curious as to why he was asking.
Y/N: "Nah, I'm free right now. What's up?
Miles: "You wanna hang out? I'm bored..."
Y/N: "Yeah, I'm down. What did you have in mind?"
Miles: "Dunno, we could just chill at my house?"
You sigh at his suggestion, rolling your eyes and shaking your head.
Y/N: "I'm tired of being inside, I wanna go out somewhere. How 'bout that ice skating place that just opened a few weeks ago?"
Miles had to pause, contemplating on whether or not to go. But he decided that if it made you happy, he wanted to take you there.
Miles: "Sure, I'm down. You better not be scared to go ice skating."
His reply sounded as if he was mocking you.
Y/N: "Speak for yourself. They don't call me Ice Queen for nothin'😉❄️"
Miles couldn't help but chuckle.
Miles: "Sure, Miss 'Ice Queen'. Let's do this."
Fifteen minutes later, you and Miles are walking down the snowy streets, heading towards the ice skating rink. While walking, the cold surrounded you two, a slight breeze causing Miles to wince and rub his arms a bit.
"Dang, it's kinda cold out here." He says, looking over at you, presuming you were also cold.
"What? You can't handle a little chill?" You ask teasingly, hiding the fact that you are chilly as well. Miles scoffs and looks over as his breath is visible.
"You don't look any less frozen than me, Ice Queen." He moves closer to you, rubbing his shoulder against yours in an attempt to warm himself. You laugh sarcastically at his joke and bump his shoulder playfully.
"We're almost there, crybaby," You say, pointing up ahead. Miles was going to give a comeback in response, but he was too damn cold to really care too much.
"Good, I'm freezing my ass off." He admits, his teeth chattering a bit as he speaks. When we get inside, it's still cold but definitely warmer than outside. We head up to the front desk and pay for some rentals before heading over to a bench to put the skates on. Miles struggles a bit with his. He's a bit uncoordinated sometimes, so it takes him some time to actually put them on properly. Although, once he's done, he smiles and looks at you expectantly.
"So? Show me what you got, Ice Queen." He says with a slight laugh. You meet his challenge with a smirk.
"Watch and learn, Morales!" You glide out gracefully onto the ice, noticing that there's not that many people out. Miles shuffles over to the ice, holding onto the wall as he watches you. "See? I know what I'm doing." Miles rolls his eyes playfully at you.
"Sure, keep thinking that. But hey, if you fall, I'll be there to catch you. Sound fair?" He laughs, sounding a bit flirtatious. You laugh in response.
"You wish I would fall!" You shout as you take a lap around the rink. You come back around and Miles is still waiting at the edge of the ice. "Whatchu waiting for, slow poke?" You taunt. He gives you a determined look and steps out onto the ice. Although, before he can even finish taking a step, he falls onto the cold floor, landing on his butt. You skate over to him, holding out a hand. Miles looks up at you, seeming a little bit embarrassed.
"What was that you said about catching me if I fall? Maybe I should've been saying that." You tease as you stifle a laugh. He shakes his head as he grabs your hand and pulls himself up.
"Shut up. I tripped." He insists, obviously lying to himself.
"On thin air, or your ego?" You stick your tongue out tauntingly and start skating forward.
"Thin air, definitely. My ego's still very much in tact, thank you." You chuckle as he catches up, the two of you now gliding on the ice together. Miles is a bit wobbly, but he finds his balance, hoping not to fall on his ass again. You shake your head and hold your hand out to him.
"Here, just hold onto me." You offer with a small smirk on your face. Miles gives you a smug look back, taking your hand and standing upright.
"My hero." He replies mockingly. You roll your eyes and he pulls you closer to him as you both skate forward. "You know, if you wanted to hold my hand, Y/N, you could've just said so." He teases, giving you a wink.
"What? No, I was just being nice. If you wanted to hold my hand, you could've just asked." You retort playfully, giving him a nudge with your elbow. He looks as if he's going to lose his balance for a moment, but then recovers, glaring at you as you snicker at him.
"Uh huh, that's what they all say." He scoffs and you continue to laugh at him. Suddenly, he loses his balance again and he grabs onto your shoulders for support, gasping loudly. He ended up accidentally pushing my back against the railing of the rink. To others it looks like he's just giving me a hug, but he's really trying not to fall again.
"Ah! Miles!" You instinctively grab onto him as you hold him up and you can't help but to giggle. Miles sighs, looking off to the side but it's obvious that he's enjoying how close he gets to be to you.
"You're so bad at this! You almost took us both down!" You exclaim, scolding him jokingly. He leans in close to you and looks into your eyes as your faces are only a few inches apart now.
"Hey. You know, they say that people fall in love when they accidentally fall on each other?" He teases, trying his best to maintain his balance.
"Who said that?" I ask, raising an eyebrow in suspicion.
"Um, I did..." Miles says nonchalantly with a slight grin on his face, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. You laugh, shaking your head once again at his silliness. But you couldn't help but blush slightly. A smile crept onto his lips as he smirks at you. "Oh? Am I making you nervous?" He asks tauntingly. You clear your throat and shake your head.
"No! I could never get nervous around you. Pft..." You say mockingly, but as you're speaking, your voice cracks a bit.
"Oh, is that so?" The grin on his face grew wider, almost as if he knew you weren't telling the truth about not being nervous. "Well, tell that to the blush on your face." He smirks at you before letting go of your shoulders and skating off, as if he never had any trouble before. You watch him, stunned as he doesn't even look unsteady.
"Were you faking the whole time?!" You shout after him in surprise, skating to catch up with him. He turns to face me as he skates ahead of me, skating backwards now. My jaw drops.
"Me? Fake? Never..." He replies with a smug look. "You know, you're cute when you're shocked."
"Oh don't even- That's not true. You said you couldn't skate!" You deflect, pointing a finger at him. As you catch up to him, he turns back forward, smirking at you.
"Never said that. You just assumed I couldn't because I fell earlier." He points out. "Besides, you're so easy to tease. It was very fun seeing your reaction." Miles chuckles.
"Oh, so now you're calling me easy?" You raise an eyebrow at him, hiding a smile.
"Easy to tease. If you were easy to get, I'd have gotten you a while ago. You're really making me work for it, Y/N." He says slyly, looking at you from the corner of his eye.
"What are you talking about?" I question, rolling my eyes.
"Oh, don't act oblivious now. Since you know everything, I bet you've been playing hard to get and you want me to chase you." He replies confidently.
"Ooh, so you're on to me, now? Hm, I guess you're smarter than I thought." You smirk at him and he seems a bit surprised. "Maybe I do want you to chase me, Miles." You give him a wink and skate ahead again. You had him at a loss for words for a moment, but then he skates after you. You both laugh as he tries to grab you and you dodge him.
As you glide across the ice, you lose your balance. But before you fall, Miles catches you and you two are now inches apart. You both stop in the center of the rink, panting softly. A few seconds pass, but no one makes a move. He looks at you and you look back at him. Then you feel his grip on your waist and he pulls you in a little closer. You can feel his breath on your face. It's as if you are the only two in the rink.
Finally, Miles leans in a little further and kisses you softly on the lips. His lips on yours sends a slight tingle up your spine and you feel your heart beat faster as you kiss him back. His hand moves to the back of your neck and he kisses you deeper, putting more passion behind the kiss.
After a few seconds, he pulls back but he still holds you close. As he moves his head away, he looks at you with a small smile on his face. You gaze at each other, both slightly blushing, but not embarrassed at all. Miles looks as if he's about to say something to you, but he's interrupted by one of the skating rink workers.
"Hey! No stopping in place on the ice! Keep it moving." He tells you both.
"Oh! Right, sorry." Miles says to the man before turning back to you. "Let's get outta here." He suggests, grabbing your hand.
"Yeah, let's go." You respond, as he pulls you to the side of the rink. He looks at you once more before he suddenly kisses your cheek.
"Sorry, couldn't resist." He smiles as he sees you blush again.
"Sure, you couldn't." You roll your eyes, stepping off the ice as Miles follows you.
You both leave the rink and head outside, noticing that the sun has set. The cold air is still a bit chilly on your skin, but it's not too bad. You notice that Miles has gotten you to hold his arm as he walks you home, as if he's not letting you go after the kiss that you two shared.
"So... I guess all that chasing wasn't for nothing then, huh?" Miles raises his eyebrows, smirking at you.
"I guess the chase was worth it. You caught your prize, now what?" You reply playfully, looking up at him. He pulls you a little closer and wraps his arms around you.
"Now, I get to keep it," He says as he kisses you gently on the lips. The world around you blurs as Miles kisses you under the soft glow of the streetlights. The snowflakes gently fall around you, creating a magical atmosphere. It's a moment frozen in time, one that you wish could last forever.
After a while, he breaks the kiss and looks at you. He can't keep his eyes off your face, his smile growing as he holds you in his warm embrace. Suddenly, a gentle breeze causes you both to shiver a bit, but the cold doesn't matter to you. All that matters is that you are there with Miles. The two of you start to walk again, Mile's arm around your shoulder as you walk down the street.

Hazel Callahan x FigureSkater!Gf hcs
I do figure skating so I thought this would be cute :))
just cute things♡
you met when she kept intruding in your jump corner and eventually she noticed she was messing up your jumps and apologised, then offered to buy you a hot drink from the rink cafe to make up for it, and it all went from there
she shows up to all your shows/competitions with a sign that says "I ♡ my girlfriend" with your photo in the heart
watches intently when you're trying to learn something new and tries to give you pointers from an outsider's perspective the best she can
when you get off the ice she helps untie one of your skates' laces and clean it off and put it away while you do the other - she loves wiping off the built-up ice off the blade (it's so satisfying)
the two of you go ice skating together just for fun and she falls over a lot (she blames it on the rental skates)
if she's about to fall she clings onto you and almost makes you fall over too
she massages your muscles if they ache
when you teach her a trick on ice (like how to go backwards and simpler things like that), she teaches you some taekwondo later
if you have an injury, most likely on your ankle, she will not leave your side and will keep checking that you're okay
she always carries spare gloves in case you forget yours for the rink
she also always carries a spare lip balm incase you forget yours since you always complain about dry lips from the cold there
sometimes she mimicks your moves, especially spins or jumps, when you're just hanging out
she tries to convince you you're as good as olympic/professional skaters when you watch competitions together
she has a section of her notebook dedicated to figure skating and has colour-coded techniques and what they are and everything there is to know, along with the biggest names and celebrities in figure skating
she cheers you on if you fall trying to do some complicated move and gives you pep talks if you feel like giving up
she always tells you you look badass on the ice
she decided to buy herself skates and she bought hockey skates which suit her skating style better
once you decide to get off the rink, she waits at the side with your skate guards and your water bottle with a proud smile
you watch ice skating movies together and you point out what is accurate and what isn't
she buys you your favourite hot drink once you're done and ready to go home
you talk and gossip while you do stretches
you always share an annoyed glance when people, especially a little kid or hockey skater, skate through your jump corner and ruin your jump just as you were about to do it and you have to start over
she's one of those people who have a fear of falling over and someone skating over their hand
her mind is blown every time you spin - "how do you even spin that fast??"
her way of stopping is crashing into the wall
hope you enjoyed and if someone were to write a fic w a (any type of)skater!gf pls do let me know🤞
have a lovely day/afternoon/evening/night *mwah*

❄️ WOSO FICMAS: Dec. 14 - Charli Grant❄️
Charli Grant x Reader (Chelsea & Matildas) | WC: 964
Dec. 14 prompt - Ice Skating
-> woso ficmas masterlist can be found here!
With the last game of 2023 for Chelsea being so close to Christmas, you weren’t able to get a flight back home to Australia. Despite being upset about being away from your family during the holidays, your main focus was on the game against Häcken. You were also upset about not being able to spend time with Charli.
The game against Häcken was a successful one, giving Chelsea a win to end the year with. When you arrived back in England after a recovery day off in Sweden, all you wanted to was rest. Walking through the door of your apartment, you failed to notice the pair of shoes by the door that weren’t yours.
Leaving your things by the door to be unpacked later, you moved through your apartment to the kitchen, having not eaten since before you left Sweden. In the middle of making something to eat, you jumped feeling arms wrap around your body.
“Surprise, baby!” your brain hardly registered your girlfriend’s familiar accent, your heart still racing.
“Oh my god, Charli!” you squeaked. “You scared the shit outta me!” with wide eyes you turned to face your girlfriend, a bright smile across her face, finding your reaction amusing.
“That was the plan!” Charli grinned, once again wrapping her arms around you, but this time around your neck.
You rolled your eyes at the blonde, you couldn’t be mad at her no matter how hard you tried. Your hands moved to rest around her waist, pulling her into a long kiss, having missed being this close to her.
“What are you doing here?” you asked once you pulled away from the defender.
“I wanted to surprise you! I knew you couldn’t come home for Christmas, so I thought we could spend it together, just the two of us!” Charli cooed, her smile never faltering.
Your heart soared at your girlfriend’s words as you pulled her into a tight hug. The two of you stood together for a few minutes before you pulled away, remembering why you came straight to the kitchen in the first place. You resumed making something to eat, but this time making enough for two.
A few hours later after eating and showering, you and Charli were cuddled on your couch watching a random movie that was on. Neither of you were focused on the movie, more focused on each other and catching up on things you hadn’t talked about during your numerous phone calls.
You were currently telling the blonde about how some of your teammates were going to a Christmas market in London tomorrow when Charli let out a small gasp, remembering something she meant to tell you.
“That reminds me! I scheduled us to go ice skating tomorrow night!” the blonde beamed, excited for the opportunity to finally have a date night after so long.
Your eyes widen at her statement, worry about either of you potentially getting hurt on the ice.
“I don’t know if that’s a good idea, darlin’.” your worry came through as you spoke.
“Trust me, baby! Everything will be fine!” Charli asserted, having full confidence that you’d both be fine.
When the time to head to the skating rink approached the next day, you were still riddled with worry but seeing how excited Charli was about the two of you getting to spend time together, you couldn’t help but also be a little excited.
You arrived at the rink and as soon as you were out of the car, Charli was pulling you to the skate rental booth. Both of you struggled trying to walk on the sharp skate, Charli almost falling before you even stepped foot on the ice.
You both looked like a baby deer trying to stand up for the first time, holding on tightly to each other and the side railing. You ignored the small children skating past you like it was nothing, more concerned with keeping yourself upright.
“Watch me, y/n!” the defender grinned, letting go of the railing and your hand, attempting to skate away from you.
Before you could warn her, you watched her feet slip from under her as she crashed onto the ice. You heard her mutter a soft “ow,” grabbing her wrist as she sat up. With hesitant movements, you moved to where she had fallen to check on her.
“Are you okay, love?” you gasped, reaching to try and look at her wrist.
“Maybe you were right,” Charli joked, pain evident in her voice.
You tried to laugh at her joke, wanting to say “i told you so,” but decided it wasn't what she needed right now.
“C’mon, darlin’, let's go home and get you some ice,” you could tell her wrist wasn’t seriously hurt, but would most likely be sore for a week or two.
Once you arrived home and got an ice pack for the blonde, the two of you moved to the bedroom to cuddle a bit before going to sleep.
“I’m sorry I ruined our date night, I should’ve listened to you yesterday.” your normally cheery girlfriend sniffled, trying to hold back tears.
“Hey, no crying. It’s okay, love I'm just glad I got to spend time with you,” you mumbled, trying to comfort Charli.
“But maybe next time we have a date night, we should do something that doesn’t require being on ice,” you joked, pulling a small laugh from the blonde.
The two of you spent the rest of the time Charli was visiting exploring the city you lived in, showing her around. The two of you spent Christmas together, exchanging small gifts and just being grateful that you were able to be together during the holidays. Having Charli around felt like having a piece of home with you at all times.

On Thin Ice [Figureskater!Kaeya x reader]
A/N: Based on this post here! // Sorry for inactivity and lack of fics! School had me STRESSED which is why I've been so busy.
Warnings: I have never figure skated (don't come after me figure skaters), flirty Kaeya
➽────────────❥
4:42pm
Perfect, is what you think to yourself when you see that time displayed on the giant clock above the empty rink. You don't even go to the change room, instead going to the nearest spot on the bleachers and sitting down to tie the rental ice skates you got.
Once you lace up the skates, you walk in a clunky way towards the rink entrance, stumbling a little while occasionally holding onto whatever you could grab near you. A little more than fifteen minutes should be enough for-
"Hey there~"
You're suddenly greeted by a figure who seemed to have spawned out of nowhere- you swear you don't remember seeing anyone on the ice. And if you saw a guy as handsome as this stranger, you'd certainly remember.
Said stranger briefly waved his two fingers to the side as a way to say "hi", then quickly returned to rest under his chin, as if he was curiously finding out who you were. His hair was a dark blue, tied in an attempted loop, but his hair was too long and just ended up falling over his shoulder. His outfit was very form fitting that you could see the outline of his collarbones.
But the worst part was probably that handsome smile of his. The corners of his lips were slightly upturned- it could almost be a smirk. The little glint in his eyes didn't help either. You had a feeling this was going to lead to trouble.
"Hi...?" you say awkwardly. You were cautious on what to say next.
"I regret to inform you but you do know it's still practice time for us figure skaters, no?" Your body freezes in embarrassment. It was even worse that this handsome guy probably thought of how clumsy you were.
"I'm so sorry! I didn't know, I thought it was ok for the public because the lady at the front allowed me to come in and-"
"Whoa slow down, it's no big deal really." The dark blue-haired male put his hands up as if to give a signal to stop. He suddenly then holds his hand out, "I'm Kaeya." He starts an introduction to ease things with you. You in return, bring your hand to shake his.
"(Y/n)." you say, while your heart slows down its beating.
"So, what brings you here early, (Y/n)? Eager to skate?" he slightly teases at the fact that you were early to the real public skating time. You sigh, deciding to tell him. You probably weren't going to make this mistake again. This will be the last time you embarrass yourself in front of a hot guy.
"I'm going skating with my friends but the truth is, I don't know how to skate." Your friends asked you to participate in this winter activity while you never skated in your life before. When you complained they said "You'll be fine!" as a claim to reassure you and convince you to come. When you say these words, the corner of Kaeya's mouth quirks upwards, emphasizing the glint in his eyes.
"Oh? You don't know how to skate?" he asks. "Well it's easy." He then leaves the edge of the rink to push himself off and skate off, going backwards and purposely doing a little spin for you. Showoff.
"Easy for you to say, Mr. Professional." you groan as he skates his way back to you, stopping elegantly with ease. He laughs a little at your sarcasm.
"I could teach you." he offers. Kaeya glances at the clock, now reading 4:50. "It'll be quick, and I've been told I'm a good teacher."
You glance at the clock as well, seeing you had about ten minutes before your friends and other people would come into the arena. You figured if he was offering, this should be fine, right?
"If you say so... Just for a little bit though." You say a little panicked. It was almost time and you were hoping Kaeya got the message you just wanted to get the hang of 'walking' on ice, and then you'd be good. He smiles, then offers you his hand to take your first step on the ice.
You stumble onto the ice- both of you letting out a 'woah', then steadying yourself with his guidance. You laugh awkwardly, and so does he. Except Kaeya doesn't seem fazed at all. You slowly start to learn that Kaeya just naturally exudes this "naturally-cool person" aura.
"We'll take it slow, 'kay?" he aays to reassure you. "Try walking in little steps and push off the ice. You can hold my hands if you want to."
Your heart is suddenly aware of the double meaning in that last sentence. Your eyes look up, but end up only seeing Kaeya's expression with just a regular smile. You can't seem to read him, because you swore his tone was a little different... But you decide to let it go, since it'd be silly. This is just a skating lesson, right?
You start taking your first steps like a toddler learning to walk- a little unsteady. But ever so often you find yourself randomly losing balance.
"-Kaeya!" you shriek in a moment of panic, one hand grabbing onto the wall nearby and the other with his arm holding you.
"It's alright, I've got you." he says stabilizing you. "Bend your knees a little when you skate, that should give you more stability."
You follow his directions while not fully letting go of his hand, his fingertips lightly holding yours. After a few minutes of readjusting yourself to get acquainted with the rink, you make a bit of progress, finally grasping how to walk... even if it is still a bit slow and wobbly.
Kaeya acknowledges this and applauds for you with a smile.
"There we go, now you're ready to do more difficult things, yes? How about this~" He leaves you for a brief moment, giving a little elegant spon. You roll your eyes, knowing he's just teasing.
"Yes of course." you say sarcastically, which he chuckles at.
"Okay, let's try stopping now." He skates to a short distance away from you then faces back towards you. "Skate towards me, then stop by pushing your legs out into a V-shape like this." He demonstrates the basic stopping technique for you, then signals you to start.
You start taking your steps on the ice, you gain a steady pace before you decide to try stopping. Except you don’t come to a complete stop… You push your feet out and you slow down but it’s not enough.
“Whoa there…” Kaeya’s voice sounds closer than you thought. When you look up you’re met with his dark blue eyes. You realize your attempt to stop has clearly failed, as you end up right in front of Kaeya who gives you a wink and devilish smile. “Take me out to dinner first, sweetheart.”
Your face instantly warms up as you fall victim to his remarks. You internally tell yourself that this is probably normal for him since he’s keeping up these shenanigans.
“Kaeya- ah!” You try to recover and conceal your reaction by pushing him away, but it instead pushes yourself away, making you almost lose balance. But Kaeya’s quick, and he catches your hand in time to support you back. He chuckles while hiding his laughter behind his hand.
“Sorry for teasing you. It’s kind of fun seeing your reaction, you’re quite cute you know that?”
His statement catches you off guard. One after the other, more surprises keep coming your way, and you are kind of doubting this one… There’s no way someone like him found you cute, right??
Before you could think of a response, another voice cuts in.
“Having fun, Kaeya?”
You both turn to look behind Kaeya, where there were two men standing outside the rink on the other side of the glass. They both had blonde hair and blue eyes- though the one who spoke was taller, while the other had more of a platinum blonde and slightly longer hair.
“Ah- Dainsleif… how long have you been here? I thought you went home already.” You watch as Kaeya seems really good at masking his emotions, giving a smile to ‘Dainsleif’ as he interrupted.
“I’ve been here since you called yourself ‘a good teacher’,” Dainsleif says sarcastically. Kaeya internally sweat-drops at this. “A good teacher should know your practice time was done thirty minutes ago.”
“Right, my mistake.”
Dainsleif turns to leave, with the other guy not really paying any mind and giving Kaeya a smile and a wave goodbye. Kaeya waves back sheepishly, then breathes out a sigh of relief turning back to you.
“Sorry about that. That was my instructor…”
“It’s okay.” You reply. You get the feeling that Dainsleif was the stern type, making him quite scary.
“As much as I’d like to continue, he’s right. My practice time ended already.” As he says this you realize the time is 5:00, which meant it was the public skate time. You can’t help but feel that fifteen minutes with him went by too quickly… "And you're going skating with your friends, right?"
“You were a great teacher, thank you.” He only helped with skating and stopping but you figured it was better than looking like a noob with the skating walker.
“Well I’m glad one person thinks so.” He jokes. You both giggle as he leads you to the entrance of the rink again. There are a few people starting to come in.
You and Kaeya carefully step out of the rink. He starts untying the laces while you sit beside him, leaving yours on for later. You both sit in a comfortable silence for a bit. While he packs up, you're unsure of what to say- or if you even should say anything. Your frantic thinking goes on for a bit longer than you expected, as you realize Kaeya was finished and was ready to leave.
Where exactly do you go from here? He was just a stranger you met who was gracious enough to teach you some skating basics. You were hoping the butterflies he gave you in your brief time with him, wasn't just for fun. Your heartbeats slow down, thinking you've lost your opportunity.
"W-wait..."
Your heart acts before your head could stop you. Kaeya hears what you said, and you suddenly panic, not even knowing what you want to say
"You... haven't taught me how to get up if I fall on the ice." you stammer, trying to save yourself. Kaeya seems to buy it as his face looks as if he's giving it some thought. "I mean- It's okay though! I know you have to leave, and it's time for me as well..."
"You're right..." There is a short pause. You can't help but feel that there were some gears turning in his head. He then puts his hand in his pocket, retrieving his phone, swiping on it a few times and handing it facing you. "Guess you'll have to come back for another lesson, right?"
Your eyes widen as you read what's on his screen- the contact screen, the empty space with the little line blinking straight at you. You look back at him. He was smiling, but his expression seemed softer from the way the corners of his eyes curved down.
“Really...?” You ask cautiously. You hoped that he was talking about the same thing. He nods, his smile still prominent.
"I wasn’t kidding about dinner either, by the way.” You almost choke on your own saliva with how forward he is. "Were you kidding about it?"
"No- well I mean yes- I didn't mean to bump into you like that! You were poking at me!" It's hard for you to keep a deadpan expression towards him while feeling your cheeks getting warmer. You enter in your number in his phone.
"You're on thin ice, Kaeya. But you're lucky that you know a thing or two about ice." He laughs, as he can appreciate the joke. You finish putting your number in his phone.
"I am, aren't I?"
As you waved and said your goodbyes, you couldn't stop the smile forming on your face, knowing there would be a next time with Kaeya.

Shadybug’s Paris Headcanons
Paris is not the “City of Love”, it is the “City of Progress”.
Many of those old fashioned buildings from a bygone era have been torn down and replaced with buildings that are more practical than aesthetic or factories.
Plastic is fantastic, the Seine is super polluted (and there is a rumored crocodile living there so citizens are advised to stand clear) but after getting rid of some useless parks, Project Oxygen has already started to improve Parisian Air Quality.
There is no ice-rink.
Admission to the Louvre is ridiculously expensive, and several pieces of art and historical artifacts have been locked up in the archives because it was determined that they were detrimental to public welfare and could incite anarchy. (In reality, the Supreme has locked away anything that is related to previous holders of the Miraculous).
There is a strict curfew and Martial law upheld by the Enforcers under the decree of the Supreme.
As such, there is no need for elections or mayors.
Socialism is prohibited.
This means that Libraries are not free; you need to fill out paperwork and pay a membership fee to gain entrance, and pay a separate rental fee for each book you rent, and the late fees are horrific. The selection of books available is limited as any material deemed to promote dangerous ideas has been strictly banned under penalty of law.
Fire and rescue services are not paid by tax payers, they are paid for by the people who need saving, as such, nobody is willing to go into financial debt over a cat stuck in a tree.
But thanks to the Supreme, there are no more wars, no debates over politics or religion. The world can focus on technological progress. Banning dangerous items has greatly reduced all crime, and Enforcers carry out punishment swiftly and efficiently.
Disobedience is not tolerated, because disobedience leads to civil violence and disruption, which leads to anarchy.
But if you are obedient and work hard, it is possible to move up in the world.
Freedom is a small price to pay for World Peace.
No one knows where the Supreme’s headquarters are located expect for a few elite, and no one knows if the Supreme is one person or a group of people.
But the Supreme guides the world and has lead everyone to prosperity. The Supreme cannot be questioned.
The Supreme defeated the Nazis, the Japanese, and even the Soviets.
Any radical or terrorist groups are swiftly eliminated by the Supreme.
There is no such thing as miracles. Keep your head down, mind your own business, fall in line, and strive for your own success, do not be weighed down by others or allow yourself to fall victim to misleading liberal and socialist ideals and propaganda that will lead to civil unrest. The obedient are always rewarded for their efforts. The impoverished exist due to laziness or criminal intent and are to be avoided. Those who ask for help expect free handouts and wish to leech off the hard work of upstanding citizens; they must be shunned.
Nobody does anything without adequate compensation. Never trust a “free lunch”, it may be poisoned.
Pigeons are disease spreading vermin and every effort is being made to exterminate them.
The Supreme began to suspect that whomever stole from him is hiding out in Paris after certain impossible “miracles” begin to happen in the city.
But the Supreme can’t show weakness and allow those who have sworn loyalty to know that he was robbed. Can’t risk them getting greedy and trying to steal from him as well.
He needs someone naive and inexperienced, someone who can be easily tempted and manipulated into retrieving the stolen Miraculous and keeping their mouth shut about it.
Who better than emotionally unstable teens, angry at the world, and bitterly determined to keep their business secret from adults who could never understand their pain? Teens who have no wealth or power of their own to change their lives and achieve their desires. Teens who would be too prideful or too afraid to admit their mistakes when things go wrong? Teens too oblivious to how the world really works, and could not care less for the consequences of their actions, even if it means slowly destroying the city in order to lure out a man who is determined to play “Hero”.
And, should they prove useless, it would be easy to take their miraculous back and let their bodies deteriorate, along with any and all secrets of magic jewels.
After all, it is hardly newsworthy if some Baker’s daughter suddenly “dies from an incurable illness”, and the Tragedy of a teen model “disappearing”, either as a means to escape the pressures of fame or a desire to join their mother in the afterlife is both entertaining and distracting, the Media will eat it up like candy.
This is the World that Betterfly/Hesperia wishes to change.
