Hi! I just started reading Coanda Effect after seeing the beautiful fanart of it on my feed and I’ve been really enjoying it so far. I’ve never actually seen any kind of race before and the most exposure I’ve had to anything close is going karting (lol). I didn’t even realise there were other Fs that isn’t 1 🤦🏻‍♀️. So I spent some time googling things up while reading and I’m learning a lot of new things I love it! But I was just wondering in terms of watching races what do you look for? Do you support particular teams or people? Or do you just enjoy watching the race overall? (I’m sorry if this is a stupid question!) I want to start watching races too but I’m still too lost atm 🥲 For now, I can’t wait to catch up on all the chapters!

so i started by watching races with zero context, actually! they played in a bar i worked at, mostly replays but still. when there was nothing to do i just— yah. car go vroom

slowly i was like oh i wanna get into this sport (winter break 2022 ish) and spent some time looking into stuff (decided to support ferrari, which was the worst decision of my life 2023 was ROUGH) and then started watching races live where i could

so i support a team (ferrari) and a driver (leclerc). i also have other drivers i look out for: norris, piastri, tsunoda, and next year ill be looking out for hamilton (and hopefully lawson and bearman!!) too :3 hamilton is joining ferrari and bearman and lawson are currently still in the junior categories

i know people who only support indv. drivers and people who only support teams, though!! i just root for the people i like (ferrari and leclerc just happen to be at the top of that list)

i like watching races actually mainly because of strategy. the race thats just gone, Suzuka, was a really strategy heavy race. in a grand prix, the drivers have to make at least one pitstop and change the tyre compound and i loooove seeing how the teams react and conduct strategy :) also love to see some good overtaking, lol.

i think you learn a lot by just watching races, and learning as you go. theres also F1 kids for some races which explains stuff a bit more (provided by sky, idk when theyre doing it next). F1TV probably has the best commentary team in english right now, but i watch on sky sports. if you look under the bunny talks f1 tag i have a post explaining tyre strat (i cant link it because im on mobile) but i love answering qs also!! i cant like things normally bc i have adhd and statistics fascinate me:3

(everyone was a new fan once!! im still a little lost in some races, and i probably will be at china in a couple of weeks because theres not been a race at that track in five years)

my advice would be to watch races anyway, and china will be a super fun weekend because its a) a track a lot of the drivers havent driven at, or have driven at very little, and b) a sprint weekend!! join us :)

she has the prettiest name, and it fits her so so well. it's not a common name at all, even in algeria, because she's not a common soul.

she's a lot softer irl than she is on here. she's still a sag, so she's opinionated af, but she's always very respectful about it. like she doesn't mind if you disagree with her, and she won't force you to see things her way. she knows when to just listen, too, and that's something we value. she's very eloquent in french, speaks like the old days and in the sweetest tone, and it makes people enamored. she's very polite, well brought out, old money doesn't just stop at her aesthetic and style. she's a very elegant girl.

nope but my names DO both mean something (they're isiZulu names). my first name Banele i was given by my mom & in context is supposed to mean "banele abafana" which means there are enough boys (i'm the second of two boys and my mom only ever wanted two boys so she shut the factory down after me). my second name Cebo i was given by my grandmother and in context it means "Cebolenkosi" which means God's plan. so those are nice.

In undergrad- Abnormal psych and women's studies. Both because I loved the professors. I think EVERYONE should take Abnormal psych- it makes you look at people's odd behaviors WAY differently. Women's studies made me feel a whole new appreciation for my mom.

In graduate- diagnostic evaluations. I liked working with my students and calculating their data!

“the basics to [insert your language] 101.” you’re shocked but not really since jay is basically a language genius. but now your heart feels all fuzzy and warm because he’s learning your language.

“babes, i missed you!” you say as you smile while petting her and seeing her tail wag in happiness. jake looks at the sight of the two loves of his life and can’t stop the way his heart flutters a little. he doesn’t want to ruin the moment but he wants your attention so he ends up sort of sitting on the ground next to layla and peeks up at you with wide eyes and a smile.

“babes?” he asked. you end up also sitting on the floor, layla settling onto your lap,

“who says i love you?” he gets kind of pouty because he knows that you love but he wants to hear it. some time passes and when you’re at your parent’s house, you’re talking to them and you tell them in [insert your language],

“i love jake.” he hears the word and his name in the same sentence. so he takes a chance and using the same sentence you said but with your name he says,

it probably slipped out in a moment of panic while the two of you were ice skating. sometimes you slipped into [insert your language] due to a surge of various emotions, sometimes anger, fear, or frustration. sunghoon had asked if you wanted to go on a date to the new rink that just opened and you said yes because ice skating with hoon, how could you miss the opportunity ?? he was holding your hand and skating to your pace trying to teach you how to ice skate. but somewhere down the line, he ended up letting go without you realizing it (like when you ride a bike and the person behind you holding the bike lets go !!) so you turn around, eyes wide at the distance between you and sunghoon and you’re like,

“YAH, BABES YOU SAID YOU WOULDN’T LET GO,” and all of a sudden you lose your balance. thankfully, sunghoon being the great skater that he is manages to get to you and holds so you so that you don’t fall. you’re clutching onto his jacket, trying to catch your breath, “i hate you,” you mutter. he smiles as he moves your hair to get out of your face,

“yeah, keep telling yourself that. wait? what does babes mean?” he asks.

“it means love in [insert your language].” suddenly, ice king composure melts. heart going a hundred miles a minute. mind is all like wait what? he accidentally loses his footing and balance, falling while taking you down with him but you’re fine since you landed on top of him.

“are you ok, babes?” he asks to at least try and keep some cool because even though you’re in an ice skating rink, it suddenly feels as if things just got a hundred degrees hotter.

“babes, can you hand me a napkin?” suddenly, your and sunoo’s ears are filled with the sounds of “OOO” and your family begins teasing you. to yourself, you’re just like, did i really just call sunoo… but when you look at sunoo his smile is the widest it’s ever been

“you called me love, matji, matji?” (matji meaning like “right” in korean, idk it just felt right to spell that out here ok anyways)

“how did… how did you know?” and he does that thing where he kind of giggles,

“nado saramhae, babes.” (so like “i love you too, [love in insert your language]” but it’s saramhae because that’s what you said at first) but then,

“babes?” you ask. he plays it off by saying,

“i’m the leader, i need to learn how to communicate in different languages for engenes.” but really it’s just secret language learner pt. 2 exposed.

“riki-ah?” this time as more of a question while lightly patting his hair. also nothing.

“babes, if you don’t wake up i’m gonna shove you off my lap.” suddenly, his eyes open and he looks up at you which causes you to jump back in your seat slightly.

Imagine, JiHo during her 'hiatus' had a notebook to write everything she was feeling, and the thoughts she had about herself. One day she's going over it (idk reasons), and she absentmindedly left it out in the open. Cue, one of the members (Haechan) finding it, and thus insues worry, questions, and a possible intervintion.

okay this ones kinda weird because this is purely an “imagine” aka this did not actually happen, because I’m already working on an angst that pretty much goes into the same kinda stuff, BUT enjoy!

Warning: strong language (like 2 swear words near the end)

"What did you want again?" JiHo asked on her way to the door, grabbing her wallet that was placed on the kitchen counter. "Just some Cola and those potato chips you brought last time." Haechan yelled from his comfortable position on JiHo's couch. That couch had honestly become his favourite place to sleep recently, somehow it felt more comfortable than his own bed. "Esteem must be loaded for giving her this nice of a couch." He whispered to himself while caressing the couch that must of cost several million won.

Just a few seconds after the front door shut, the door to the bathroom opened and Renjun walked back into the living room. "She just left." Jeno smiled, already knowing what Renjun was about to ask.

Wordlessly the Chinese boy settled down next to Jeno who had turned his focus back on his phone. "I still can't believe she's just like... here. You know?" A chuckle left Chenle's lips from where he sat at the kitchen counter. "Where else would she be? Space?" Renjun was not amused by his comment in the slightest, sending him a scowl.

"I mean this apartment. It's really nice and all, but... I don't know, I liked it better when she stayed at the dorms." Jeno and Chenle hummed in agreement, but when Renjun didn't hear anything from Haechan he turned his head to the boy. "What are you doing?"

Haechan had let himself slip from the couch onto the floor, now sitting on the floor in front of the coffee table. "Haechan- Yah! What do you think you're doing?" Renjun's eyes widened as he watched Haechan flip through a notebook - one that definitely did not belong to him. "JiHo said she had been writing lyrics, do you think it's in here?"

Curiosity peaked, Chenle jumped up from his chair and hurriedly walked to the boys. "Whether it's in there or not, you can't just go through her notebook. It's private!" Renjun scolded, reaching out to grab said item, but Haechan pulled away before he could. "Don't worry, JiHo never told me off for stuff like this. Besides, most of this is in French and English, I couldn't even understand if I tried." "Then stop reading-" "Hyung!" Chenle ripped the notebook out of Haechan's hands pointing towards a page that peaked his interest. "This is the lyrics to her song 'Villain'."

A cocky smile formed on Haechan's lips as he took back the notebook and eyed Renjun. "See, it's just lyrics." Renjun just scoffed and decided against saying anything else. "Oh this page says Dream! Do you think JiHo wrote a song for us?" Chenle asked and Haechan nodded. "Possibly, I can't understand it though, it's in French."

A sigh escaped the youngest's lips and he moved to sit on the couch. Renjun then went on scolding the two boys, saying how it was wrong for them to snoop through JiHo's stuff, even if she normally said that it was "fine" for them to do so. They didn't get consent for it this time.

"And why are you still reading?" Renjun rolled his eyes, seeing that Haechan was still holding the notebook. Soon enough though, Renjun's expression turned into a frown as he mirrored Haechan's. "What?" Jeno asked confused.

Haechan just dismissed them with a wave of his hand, but continued on reading. The three boys on the couch just stared at each other in confusion while waiting for Haechan to elaborate yet his eyes just stayed trained on the notebook.

"Guys! I got what you asked for so let's-” JiHo stopped in the middle of her sentence as she noticed the boys’ unusual behaviour. Her four friends were all sat on the couch, just staring at nothing, frowns decorating all of their faces. “What’s up with you guys?”

JiHo placed the plastic bag with treats from the convenience store on the coffee table and sat down between Haechan and Chenle. An uneasy chuckle left her lips.

Haechan was the first to speak. He pointed towards the notebook on the table, the pages it was left open on all too familiar. “Guys...” “ 'I talked to Renjun about leaving to visit my family and maybe never coming back, maybe I should do that'? What do you mean 'leaving'? Why?" JiHo couldn’t seem to look Haechan in the eyes. As JiHo listened to Haechan recite the words she wrote almost 2 months ago, she felt her stomach drop.

“I didn’t know you’d seriously reconsider it.” Renjun confessed, the sadness in his tone not going unnoticed. “And all those other things you wrote... Did you mean it? Do you hate it here that much?” Jeno asked.

The questions just continue to flow from the boys’ lips, but JiHo didn’t answer any of them. “Yah!” A sudden yell erupted from Haechan’s lips, causing all four of his friends to get startled. “First you move out of the dorm and now you want to move to the whole other side of them world?!” He spat and JiHo could feel tears stinging in the back of her eyes. “Haechan!” Jeno hissed. “It wasn’t JiHo’s choice to move out of the dorm.”

The brown haired boy ran his tongue against the inside of his cheek before letting out a scoff. “Why aren’t you talking huh?! After all we’ve done, you just want to run off to France? Do we not mean anything to you-” “Fuck you!” JiHo yelled, standing up quickly. However she regretted it as she felt a a surge of pain in her running up to her head.

Everyone just stared in shock with wide eyes focused on the girl. Her body started to tremble slightly, but with every second the trembling started to become more violent. “How could you say t-that when you’re all... you’re all that I have?” She stuttered while trying to swallow all the voice cracks. Tears started to pour down her cheeks as if her eyes opened the floodgates.

It was silent for a few seconds until Haechan stood up, flinging his arms around the girl. His left hand pulling her close by her waist, while the other caressed her hair. “I’m so sorry JiHo. I’m so fucking sorry.” He whispered in her ear as he tried his best not to cry as well.

After a while, once he found that JiHo wasn’t shaking as much, he pulled her down on the couch. When she instantly pulled her legs to her chest and pushed her head into the crook of his neck, Haechan let out a deep sigh and tried to pull her as close to his body as possible.

Chenle, who was sat on the other side of JiHo, moved in closer and rested his head against her shoulder. His left hand running along her side trying to comfort her. As for Renjun and Jeno, they also made their way closer to the three of them. Renjun resting his head on Haechan’s free shoulder and keeping his eyes on JiHo. Jeno sat next to him and reached out for JiHo’s hand, which she gripped almost uncomfortably tight, but as soon as Jeno ran his finger against the back of her hand she relaxed her grip.

“Please never leave us.” Chenle said in a broken whisper, earning a few painful sobs from the girl. “I’m sorry for being such a jerk JiHo. I just... I don’t want you to leave us either. I got emotional and upset.” Haechan said.

When JiHo lifted her head to look up at her friends, Haechan’s heart instantly broke. He had only seen JiHo like this a handful of times now, and knowing that half of those times had been this year only made him realise how she must have been having such a hard time.

His hand immediately flew up to move some stray strands of hair behind her ear. “I don’t like it when you yell at me like that.” She sniffled between a few sad chuckles. “I’m so sorry.” Haechan tried to stay strong, her really did. But with Renjun burying his tear stained face into his shoulder, hearing Chenle try to hide his sniffles, seeing Jeno’s deadly grip on JiHo’s hand and seeing JiHo’s pained smile, he couldn’t stop the tears fall from his own glazed over eyes.

“We love you JiHo, don’t forget that.” JiHo tried to show Haechan her best smile before she tucked her head back underneath his chin. “I love you guys too.” She mumbled into Haechan’s neck. “No.” The four boys looked at her confused but she didn’t move from her position.

“I need you guys.”

It’d probably be because he’s so busy he forgets to take care of himself, he doesn’t wanna do that to his s/o

He loves it a lot actually because it gives him a chance to learn English

He’s very confident in his English skills

He was scared because although he wanted to pursue you, he was worried about the language barrier since baby’s English skills are intermediate :(

But Hongjoong told Seonghwa to go for it because he could tell Seonghwa liked you a lot

Practices English so much in his spare time so he can impress you next time you meet

Seonghwa himself said his English is intermediate, and from what I can tell, he understands English pretty well and just has a hard time speaking

So he definitely understands you when you speak in English, but he’ll probably respond in Korean unless he is 100% sure he can convey his message perfectly in English

Is also very patient with you learning Korean and ALWAYS offers to help

I honestly feel like Yunho understands English fairly well, so when you talk in English he’s not entirely lost unless you’re using very modern slang or big words

Was slightly worried when he realized he wanted to ask you out because obviously communication is key but that’s hard when you don’t speak the same language

But he gave himself a pep talk; saying how it’ll be okay since you’re trying to learn Korean and he’s trying to learn English

And he was right; you guys are going strong and your Korean + his English has significantly gotten better

To the point where you two can have full conversations in both only English AND only Korean

(I’m proud of you both)

Once your relationship is out he’s constantly bragging

1) please do not take this the wrong way but although I have a Lot Of Things I Like, I am a glee/Klaine blog and mostly wrote fic about them akdhakdj and I noticed you’re multi fandom and idk if there’s glee there so i don’t know how we ended up following each other but i ain’t complaining bc you’re super cool and also I AM SORRY IN ADVANCE THIS IS ABOUT KLAINE FROM GLEE *right where you left me plays gently in background*

This one shit lived rent free in my head around December of last year and I *almost* started writing it but I didn’t?? I might fuck around and try to finish it in time for this year Christmas though!

Blaine is a choir director at a middle school (no I’m not projecting……. Yes I’m projecting, but I’m also just a slut for teacher AUs) and Kurt is an English teacher/coach.

Theyve been working together for four years or so, and it’s coming up towards the end of the fall semester, and there’s a holiday exchange between coworkers. Kurt gets someone random and Blaine says he gets the science teacher or smth I don’t fucking know

Blaine has been feeling burnt out in his position for some time, ever since an administration change a couple of years ago, and he’s thinking about leaving schools. Throughout the fic it would like, jump back and forth between the present and show key moments in their friendship: at the beginning Blaine goes to a volleyball game to support his athlete students and he’s like “I try to make it to what I can. I will say, I’ve never seen a coach at a single one of their concerts.” And Kurt’s internally like “aight bet I’m going to every single one.”

Another moment is during a work day, they just hang out and help each other decorate/set up their classrooms

Kurt consoles Blaine after administration cuts his budget or keeps pulling kids out of his class

They get closer and closer but in the present, Blaine’s talking to his classes and admitting that he won’t be back after the end of the semester. The kids are like “IS IT BECAUSE WE SUCK???” And blaines just like no, you were the reason I stuck it out so long. Kurt overhears this and confronts Blaine later like “YOU LITTLE SHIT WHEN WERE YOU TELLING ME YOU WERE LEAVING??” but then calms down and is like “I hope you go somewhere you’re truly appreciated” blah blah

Finally, it’s the last day of the semester, and the faculty have their holiday gist exchange, and Kurt gives his gift to random teacher and SURPRISE Blaine had Kurt, so he gives him his gift and is like “just don’t open it until after I leave.” and then they say goodbye, Blaine takes off, and Kurt opens it and it’s something really nice and thoughtful idk I don’t have all the answers aight??? But there’s also a card in there that says “The kids weren’t the only reason I stayed so long.”

And then Kurt runs to the parking lot and is like “HEY BITCH WHAT THE FUCK?? YOU CANT JUST SAY THAT AND THEN PEACE OUT?” and then they kiss!

So yah there’s that lol

Sup, just watched earwig and the witch.(2020)

Earwig and the witch (2020) is a co-production studio ghibli 3D animated film. It’s set around the orphan, Earwig, as she goes from her comfortable life in the orphanage, to her new more challenging one after being adopted by a witch and the mysterious “mandrake” as an assistant to their work.

That was the set up, along with more audience intrigue with earwigs even more mysterious mother- (honestly I was interested because I was secretly simping for her) -shown through promotional material.

It was... fine? Idk. Going into I thought the film would follow Earwig trying to find her mother after maybe getting a clue through one of her new “foster parents.”

Not of a lot of stuff happens in terms of plot or character arcs (kinda). Maybe it was just the voice acting for the English dub, which took some points out; I’d have to watch the original subtitled version before coming to that conclusion.

Characters are fun on their own, and the story has some fun exploring of the magic and fantastical along with some killer music featured at the cente of the story and in its emotional core.

The characters and their concepts are fun and interesting when you first met them and go along to watch them grow. While the characters here are fun, it’s very slow and hard to notice them growing in terms any arcs, the majority of exchanges they just stand and talk to eachother. They, the characters, and their relationships feel stationary for the majority of the film. The only person who is noticeable in terms of character growth is the mandrake, since he’s a more quiet and a stand off character he emotes more through his actions.where we, the audience, through his actions, see him warming up to earwig and see his growth as a character.

A point I need to add is the pacing of the film. My gosh the pacing is... so... slow... When i thought The film was after the midpoint, i checked the time and saw the film only had 20 minutes left. The majority of the film feels more like the first act, rather than a complete story. It’s not good because at the end things have just finished boiled over, (spoilers) the potion room is in ruin from the mandrake after earwig made a mistake and the witch and earwig are left to clean it up. From the second last scene (after the tipping point) we know that the mandrake and earwigs relationship is fine and will most likely be more parental as earwig stays. But we don’t know how the witches relationship with earwig, or her with the mandrake are at all. The witches last exchange with earwig is her hitting her over the head and then cursing her with worms ( earwig luckily wasn’t affected because of previous events in the film) but still that’s a lot to unpack between them, but they just don’t address it and we just cut to 6 months later after, where now things are better then ever. I’m all for a found family troupe, that things like a storynarrative drug to me, but I also need to make sure that in said found family is developed with more quiet thoughtful moments between characters. They did do that but the only stand out ones are with the mandrake, it’s like he’s carrying the movie in those aspects. With how much time they used for showing earwigs new life with her foster parents, and earwigs fight for control, the creators didn’t really develop into how it could (and eventually would) develop into its best possible outcome for everyone in the house.

The 3D aspect of the film is what holds the film back. As it was very clear from the first spoken words that lip syncing would be a pain to look at and link back to the character speaking. In 2D, it might have been easier to sync because the mouth animation there are only a few frames, mainly the mouth opening and closing. In 3D, the mouth is fully animated as it moves, animated to the Japanese language and pronounce. This would have problems transferring the film to another country (say the west) with a whole different way of how they understand what a person is saying in accordance to how they see the mouth move. If a mouth is fully animated, and it’s animated to its original language that doesn’t have a similar syllable to other countries, and then the dub in those countries use words with that missing syllable, they aren’t going to see the mouth make that shape for the sound they’re so used to, and it would always be there taking the audience out of the film every time that sound it made. Some 3D animated movies actually fix this by redoing lip animation to sync better with English languages overseas. With how careful ghibli is with theyre production and how over seas dubbing is, I’m surprised they left this as it is.

So yah, I’ve talked about this long enough. The movie is fine it’s fun and interesting, but some aspects with production do feel half-baked.
