With all the stuff about the Titanic submarine I keep thinking about the tourism of sites of mass tragedy and human remains. It’s a really important conversation that I haven’t seen many people discuss outside of historical and final care provider circles.
The Titanic is a grave. The only reason that submarines are even permitted to go through it is because it’s in international waters. Other shipwrecks, like in Lake Superior, are frequently declared grave sites and have restrictions or bans on exploration of their structure. At the very least, there should be incredibly strict restrictions on Titanic exploration. It should not be a tourist destination. There may be still be human remains in certain parts of the ship, and the mud around the ship is filled with corpses. Considering the tragedy only happened 100 years ago, this tourism is very disrespectful. Also, exploration of the Titanic could potentially damage the structure, which would hinder academic research as well as further disrespect the dead and those who remember them. The structure will not be around for much longer.
Tourism of sites of mass tragedy can also be very dangerous. Obviously we know why the Titanic is dangerous, but it goes beyond that. Oftentimes people are not aware of the danger, or are reassured by authority that it is safe. For instance, many people visit active volcanoes, and some have been injured or killed by eruptions. For some, the danger is a feature. There are people who visit Chernobyl, an even more recent site of mass tragedy than the Titanic, despite being aware of the danger of radiation. It’s thrill-seeking, but instead of a rollercoaster people are putting themselves in danger to walk through human remains.
Our natural fascination with mortality leads many to disrespect the dead. The viewing of human remains in museums is a big debate, and I personally don’t think that we should display human remains without previous consent from the person. Imagine how you would feel if yourself or a loved one was displayed in a museum, or had your resting place constantly disturbed by tourists.
It’s also important to note that this type of tourism disproportionately impacts people of colour. Eurocentric society systematically dehumanizes the bodies of POC, and this becomes crystal clear in how we treat their remains. Egyptian mummies remain on display in museums despite the disapproval of many Egyptian people. Many black bodies, particularly of women, have been displayed in museums, such as Saartjie Baartman who was finally buried in 2002. Indigenous human remains are also frequently displayed, and ancient burial sites are viewed as cursed land and get destroyed by construction. The remains of people across Asia have been sold and displayed, with recent displays posing the human remains of Chinese prisoners. Most human bones being sold originated from graverobbing the graves of Asian and Indigenous people. None of these people consented to this treatment, and these communities are still being harmed by the commodification of their dead.
Engaging with sites of mass death needs to be done respectfully. The dead deserve our care.
It’s natural to be curious about tragedy and death, and engaging with our own mortality can be healthy. There are ways to engage with these topics respectfully. Many online resources are available to learn about death, with my personal recommendation being the youtube channel Ask a Mortician. Visiting cemeteries is another great way to engage with death, so long as you abide by the rules and have good intentions. There are some great documentaries about instances of mass death, with many available for free on youtube. You can visit designated memorials of the sites. The Titanic itself has a section in a graveyard in Halifax. I also recommend donating to and supporting the efforts of communities to have their human remains and cultural artifacts repatriated.
Sites of mass death need to be treated with the same respect as cemeteries. They are important and full of education, but we need to remember that these are real people. The dead are not fantastical oddities; they are us.

You writing is amazing, you capture the character personality so well.
I found an secret beach while playing pokemon scarlet and I was wonder what will a beach date with arven look like? What swimsuit will he wear? Reaction to our swimsuit? What activity will arven and reader do?
Thank you! Also, ooh! Where is it? I found a secret lil cave by the ocean just between the glacedo mountain and the orange foresty area north of the lake that I thought was pretty cool. Is the secret beach the one north of the lighthouse on the west coast? Also forgive me for not replying to a comment if you leave one! I check all my posts for tags and comments constantly, but since this is a side blog, I'm not able to reply from here. Just know that I love everything y'all say!! If you ever want to chat my inbox is open. :)

Beach Episode
Arven x reader, no gendered pronouns
--
When you excitedly tell Arven about the secret beach you've discovered and offer it up as a potential date destination, he is delighted. You can count on him to take care of all the planning. Truth be told he's happier that way. "Too many cooks in the kitchen," as it were. You just need to worry about driving the lizard in the right direction and picking a nice bathing suit.
When you arrive, before you even start unpacking together, he examines the area and whistles, fists on his hips.
"This is pretty nice! Not that I doubted you, of course, but usually an untouched beach is way less sandy and much more rocky and uneven than this, I'd think. Good going!"
From there, the two of you set out a massive beach blanket, big enough for both of you and a few pokemon to lounge about on. Next come the umbrellas to provide a bit of shade, as well as the folding table to house the snacks and coolers.
Arven really goes all out when he has time to prep.
Once all the set up is done in terms of the "picnic site," Arven goes ahead and changes into his swimwear. He wears just basic trunks, nothing terribly fancy, but they do have a floette print similar to that of his phone case.
He doesn't outwardly make a huge deal out of anything you wear, not thinking it's appropriate, but he's really happy to see you in your swimsuit.
Before you rush into the water, he does get a little blushy. "We need to make sure we get some sunscreen on before we get into the water, okay? I-I can help you, if you like? Not to be weird or anything."
You, of course, happily accept his help, and squirm and giggle at the cold sensation of the cream before he rubs it into your back and shoulders.
You also help him apply his own sunscreen. He pulls his hair out of the way for you, and you get to basically give him a little mini back massage as you rub him down. Arven sighs and relaxes against you as you work...
Once you're all SPF'd up, you release your pokemon from their balls, and it's basically a free for all! You spend as much time playing in the sand and surf as you like.
Arven basically plays along with whatever games you're down for. He didn't really get to play much in the water as a kid, so he's happy to learn how you did it when you were little.
You also build a couple of sandcastles together with your pokemon, being careful to respectfully knock them down before you abandon them, just in case they turn into sandyghasts.
As with any date with Arven, the main event is the food.
Your man has packed all the best for your little group of Pokemon, and then for the two of you he has fresh squeezed fruit juices, along with some pastries, sandwiches, and a surprisingly delicious pasta salad that kept super well in his new cooler that he has been really eager to try out!
The date does eventually end around the time it gets dark, but you're able to spend a nice amount of quality time snuggled up on the blankets, cuddling and exchanging soft kisses before you go.

In the self aware AU, if some characters can mess around with the code, can Player (in the real world) change PLA to their liking as well? Would it be similar to modding a game then? Now that I think about it, in any self aware game AU, if the player were to install mods in a game, would the characters see them as some kind of creator god? (Imagine being some random npc and seeing someone changing the colors of the landscape or spawning a shiny out of nowhere...Volo's reaction though...)
That’s actually an interesting idea!! I have seen a few mods for PLA, such as some graphics mods, and I saw one for Sneasler’s climbing speed. I imagine there’s been a bunch more since I last looked! So if in the Self Aware Au, Reader mods the game, it has so much potential here. Much like Ingo, Reader would know the code incredibly well, or at least know how to read it, and what each line means to some degree. So like, if you do mod the game. It probably only instills in their mind that you are in fact a god. Even if you don’t ever end up in the game, the fact you can just,,, do these things kinda cements it. Reader: *Mods shiny Arceus into the game* :D Volo: What the fuck
Expect him desperately trying to get your attention first. Anyone who can manipulate Arceus has to be the true god. He’s horrified to know him and his people have been worshiping a false one. Well, maybe not entirely false. Arceus still may have made this universe, but what is Arceus to someone who can control them like a toy? He’ll be frothing at the mouth though trying to figure you out, and how to get your attention. Anytime he tries, it’s as if there’s binding around him, keeping him from interacting with you or your vessel. That’s fine though, he won’t be deterred. Maybe he should ask Ingo about those numbers he mentions seeing... The other NPCs are now nervous though. Some revere you in awe, others respectfully keep their distance. Laventon is curious about you. You change things right before their eyes! You don’t seem malicious either, and seem determined to keep your vessel, the hero, safe. He’s probably the least wary of you, and is excited to learn more about you! Maybe he can convince the others that you aren’t an bad god, and maybe worshiping you isn’t a bad thing? After all, you just seem happy to create things! Ingo is also curious about you. You seem attached to him, and love to battle him. You don’t seem like an evil god, though he isn’t sure if that’s what the should refer to you as. You obviously like creating things, even summoning shiny pokemon out of nowhere, and battling him with them! You can’t be so bad, right? After all, you just seem to be messing with the numbers he sometimes sees when he closes his eyes... Cyllene is curious, but very wary of you. She honestly would fear you if you didn’t show such compassion through the hero. Surely, someone who cares for the child like they are their own, isn’t so bad? And it isn’t like you’ve done anything awful, either. You just seem content messing with the world in small ways, and adjusting how a few things look and work. You haven’t destroyed anything, and some stuff is arguably better. Still, she is unaware of what your true motives are. She’ll stick to herself for now.

lol might get hate for this but in my opinion in terms of the ranking the SuperBat pairings….
1.) Damijon/Jondami- Yes I’m completely bias but I never felt this strong for such a pairing (regardless either platonic/romantic! ) Such an iconic (chaotic) duo! I’m glad the dynamic of Damian and Jon worked out well and is well loved!
2.) Superbat-I mean they are the OGs and I can get why fans love their dynamic and pair them! I’m more bromance for them but I do look forward to their interactions whenever the two appear together!
3.) Timkon-I’m neutral for them. I like the fanarts if I see them but otherwise I think they seem more aesthetically good together than like actually together. Hey at least Tim has Bernard now and personally Kon deserves better.
Jon + Damian have squashed potential. Their friendship would have done both their characters so much good. Eventually, as they grew Jon would have felt like he’d have to chase after Damian and keep up and Damian would seek and find in Jon when it comes to anything he can’t obtain as a hero.
Out of all the popular ships, this one is particularly rare.
Imagine a world where Jon and Damian did engage in a romantic relationship in later years. I think it would be great queer rep to show two people who knew each other as friends - grappling with the same heroic pressures and coming to terms with the fact that they might not want to be just friends anymore (a common queer experience) I also think that in stories where they are do become Batman and Superman, it’d feel very refreshing to see DC have the courage to portray an iteration of their most popular characters like that.
These characters are both fairly new and not so much engraved into the audience. They both know each other and share chemistry so there wouldn’t be a lot of room for complaint.
Superbat is meh to me. Over the years, It has done a lot regarding DC fandom, it’s a ship that’s become iconic and is popular amongst passive fans which could become quite annoying.
Superbat is realistically, never going to happen. Respectfully, I doubt DC would do anything in all seriousness when it comes to anything romantic between these two.
Especially with the obvious things like how Batman is and how Clark has a wife and kids.
Although, no ship is shipped under the ideation of becoming canon so I give this pair its flowers because honestly, it could be nice in domestic situations or maybe a workplace relationship but I don’t see it being endgame or like anything happening at all in a likable way.
Timkon, I’m very, very bias about how much I dislike Timkon. Most Timkon shippers realistically do not read comics and I know this because I was one at first for a short amount of time and realized how deluded and far off from the truth Timkon actually is.
It’s crazy to me because fandom is so intense about this ship and all for it to be… alright?
A lot of Timkon stuff is boiled down to being one-sided on Tim’s part. It really irks me that Timkon's evidence is like Tim trying to clone Conner while knowing that he has a thing about not being cloned because he’s a clone himself which irks me.
Then him dating his ex-girlfriend is a HUGE red flag to me, especially when their relationship was semi-abusive and built on grief but good thing it didn’t last.
Also, Tim and Conner are NOT as close as people pretend they are. Conner doesn’t know much about Tim beyond him being Robin, they don’t hang out outside of being heroes.
In reality, Conner doesn’t know much about Tim at all and he’s much closer with his other teammates - literally any other YJ teammate other than Tim. Conner's established friendship with Tim caused a lot of really horrible character assassinations on Bart, Cassie, and Conner. It pushed all characters aside in an attempt to emphasize their relationship.
If they were to have a relationship then people acknowledge its toxicity - see toxicity doesn’t take away from shipability but frankly, I think both these characters deserve to be happy.
If they did date, I seriously give them half a year before they break up. I’m happy Tim is with Bernard because he seems much happier than he’s ever been. I’m sorry, reading those comics it felt like Tim was just grieving his friend after having lost a family member and he was spiraling and needing help, that’s not ‘cute’ to me.
Anyway, I notice Timkon shippers use Kon more as an accessory to Tim and melt his character down for that. If they read his comics then they’d know that he is canonically attracted to Bart anyway (I say canonically because of the on-the-nose insinuation which I take as gospel because it’s crazy for a writer to just outright mention Conner might be attracted to Bart.) Which Bart is most of the reason Conner is queer coded like he is now anyway.
Anyway, not saying all Timkon shippers are horrible but I don’t like the shippers or the ship. It’s substanceless for me. If you like it I’m very happy for you. I think all of these ships are iconic and adorable. This is just me being a person with an opinion.
Anyway, my thoughts.

Not surprised shipping e/riel brings out the worst in people. I mean, Elain brings out the worst in Azriel emotionally and that’s not something anybody can deny. The ship and shippers are mirrors of each other. how cute.
You know what’s funny about that too?
I am really and truly a ship-and-let-ship person. I love watching anime, so if, given the right frame, someone will ship a broom and a lamp together.
And there are chill Elriels, and there are also Elriels who can engage respectfully. But those are few and far between the ones who spam 100 TikTok comments about why their ship is more valid, the ones who comment, reblog, offer unnecessary commentary on spaces that clearly don't belong to them, and those who feel the need to call people who don't believe in their ship delusional and lacking in reading comprehension.
Even more embarrassing when they should have read that I said Mor, not Rhys or Cassian, thought it wasn't a big deal, especially when she answered Feyre's question about whether he gave away TT while finding a piece of jewelry more interesting and then didn't expand anymore, including to reaffirm that it was a big deal to Az.
The "canon" proof they used is two males’ opinions carrying more weight over a female’s, the High Lord’s third in command, with a power that said High Lord utilizes quite often to gauge a potential ally and threat, and then doubling down that the female's opinion doesn't matter based on a line of dialogue from another man.
Maybe it was important, or maybe, just maybe, it still aligns with Az's characterization, his need to protect, and it wouldn't have mattered if Elain were the recipient of Truth-Teller. It's something that he would have done for Nesta, for Feyre or *gasp* maybe even Gwyn, and that's something Mor is well acquainted with Azriel over.
Then again, all of Elriel’s moments, especially in ACOWAR, are negated, overshadowed, and undermined by how he feels about Mor and how much Mor's attention to him affects him.
It's like what you said: we know Elain brings out the worst in Azriel emotionally, as he tells us as much in his perspective from a chapter that's both, according to them, canon to Elriel's but not canon to Azriel's declaration that he was proven right to stay away from Elain. Elain returning yet another thing he offered to her nor Gwynriel's moment when he shows that he's more at peace and doesn't think about his lack of self-worth when he's with her. Funny how Gwyn is "someone who he wouldn't go so far as to call a friend" actually calmed him down?
And it's also not surprising that they would put down Mor's importance and opinion in favor of their own ship while labeling Eluciens and Gwynriels as misogynists.

120AC
The red haired woman endured a torturous sleepless night with only the anxiousness of her thoughts to comfort her.
Dainty fingers bled due to the ferocity they had been picked and bitten with.
She anticipated the moment the maester would enter only to tell her that her daughter had perished. That she had been murdered.
As though he had read her mind, the maester entered the room, his hands clasped as he bowed his head before his Queen respectfully. Before he could speak the Queen rose from the chair she had been seated on for most of the night, her eyes wide and frantic- similar to an injured buck.
"How is she?" Her voice was urgent yet there was a timidness to it, like that of a child.
The maester merely gave a sigh. "She has endured the night, your Grace," Alicent's eyes closed in relief as she breathed out a heavy sigh. "But she has not yet woken," Alicent's relief was shortlived as the maester continued speaking, his tone grim. "I'm afraid the wound to her head is more grave than I had initially thought." Alicent felt her throat constrict at his words. She feared his next words, praying that he wouldn't suggest that she may well never wake.
"The force her head was met with was...significant. I fear there may be internal bleeding. I fear that if I attempt to stop it, the Princess may lose more blood she cannot afford to lose." He admitted, his eyes never leaving the Queen's grief-stricken bloodshot eyes.
"So, nothing can be done?"
The maester tensed at her solemn whisper but replied, carefully deliberating on his choice of words.
"It is best that the Princess is left to heal. In some circumstances, the body can work miracles a maester cannot. It may be that she needs time to recuperate. She has exercised a lot of energy these last few days."
The maester gave another bow of his head having realised that the Queen had no more to say before he retreated from the room. He would mention the extent of her daughter's other acquired wounds at a later time.
Once left alone, Alicent released a broken sob.
Being maternal was not something that Alicent would pride herself on as she was not the most attentive of mothers but she still cared for each of her children, including her peculiar little girl.
The woman took a few moments to compose herself before she left the room and made her way to the room in which her daughter was kept. Without so much as a warning she opened the door. Surprise caught her as she glanced the figure of her husband.
The King sat hunched over the bed, his hand holding his daughter's smaller one. He had her hand against his lips, pressing gentle kisses to it.
He was not yet aware of his wife's presence, which became evident to Alicent as she heard sounds of grief escape him.
She wordlessly approached the bed, her body tensing as she gazed upon her daughter's frail condition. Her eyes closed, lips parted- struggling to catch a breath. Her chest heaved up and down as she breathed.
Silver hair still stained red, despite having been cleaned. New bandages covered her abdomen, but what horrified the Queen was the many bruises littering her daughter's small body, and the wounds that lay beneath the bandages.
They had been relentless in hurting her.
The guards had spoken of the girl attempting to take revenge on one of the Velaryon boys for taking her brother's eye. Y/N had tried to ,not only protect, but also avenge her brother and Alicent could not help the warmth seeping her heart at the thought nor could she ignore the admiration she felt for her daughter in that moment.
Alicent had never seen herself in her daughter. As much as she hated to admit it, she saw more of Rhaenyra in Y/N than herself, but in that moment, she and her daughter of nine had never been more alike and she could for once truly believe that she felt real love towards her, not just the maternal love that was expected of her.
Alicent placed her hands gently on her husband's shoulders, alerting him to her presence, but Viserys merely continued to cry, taking comfort in his wife's touch.
_________
The King had decided to return to King's Landing, mostly to appease his wife.
Daemon had graciously offered -and advised- both Alicent and Viserys to remain in Driftmark while Y/N recovered, but Alicent vehemently declined the offer. If her daughter were to recover, she would not be surrounded by the cause of her injuries.
Much to Alicent's pleasure -and annoyance- Rhaenyra had decided to stay in Driftmark with Daemon and the Velaryons. She had bid her father farewell, but not before asking him to keep Y/N and Jaecerys' betrothal. She was no fool. Marriage between the two would have the potential to unite their families further and hopefully diffuse any hatred from the events of the night prior in years to come.
Viserys had only smiled sadly at her request before speaking. "I am afraid I cannot make such promises, daughter." He let out a sigh, tears welling in his eyes.
"We do not know if Y/N is to survive her injuries." His voice betrayed his calm facade as did the single tear that fell from his eye.
"She has the blood of the dragon, brother." The Rogue Prince spoke with a tone softer than his usual sardonic one. "She will live." Daemon placed his hand on Viserys' shoulder as a form of comfort and reassurance.
Through different means, he had taken two of Viserys' daughters within the same day, and that surprisingly troubled the Rogue Prince's mind.
_________
Young Aemond with an eye freshly closed, approached the beast that was Veranys.
The purple dragon roared as it had done all through the night. The land surrounding it had been scorched many times, and it had fatally injured the three keepers who had tried calming its frayed temper. Aemond had been the only other individual to ride Veranys -with Y/N present- but he hoped the dragon had become accustomed to him.
The bond between a dragon and its rider was no myth, that had always been clear to Aemond as he had grown up witnessing Veranys' behaviour with Y/N and, shockingly, Sunfyre's protectiveness over Aegon- it had always troubled him that Aegon had himself a fiercely loyal dragon, despite being so unworthy of him.
"Sagon gīda (be calm), Veranys!" The young boy instructed, his voice bold and strong. He had a newfound courage after claiming the mighty beast that is Vhagar. "Istia sagon gīda! (You must be calm!)"
It seemed to be that his courage was misplaced. The dragon shrieked, its green eyes piercing the boy's flesh as it opened its mouth and released flames in his direction.
Aemond, surprising himself, leapt out of the way of its flames rapidly, throwing himself as far as he could away from the danger.
The shrieking continued until Aemond felt a gust of wind on his back.
He turned himself sharply to see the dragon standing on its hind legs, directing a roar to the sky. Its wings flapped slowly, trying to gather enough air under its wings to lift itself.
As Veranys left the ground, Aemond's eye followed its form, entranced. He felt tears as he watched the dragon leave in the direction of a place unknown.
_________
Rhaenyra and Daemon looked behind the King, with whom they had been sharing farewells after hearing the distant yet not too far calls of a dragon.
Rhaenyra notably jumped as the slightly large shadow of Veranys covered the skies above them, clouding them in darkness for only a second. The sight made her muscles tense up, unexplicably so.
Daemon, on the other hand, watched his brother's reaction, his hazel-green eyes filled with concern for his brother's wellbeing.
The King had turned his attention to the creature travelling the skies before he cast his gaze to the sea ahead of him, in which multiple ships were anchored.
"I am truly sorry for your loss, Daemon. I pray time heals your heart." The King refused to turn his head to them both as tears had begun to fall from his eyes, as he thought of his little girl who should be in the air dragonback, instead struggling to survive her injuries. "Farewell, my daughter. I shall see you when you return to King's Landing."
Rhaenyra looked to her clasped hands, feeling rather uneasy about her father's words. She had lied to him, claiming she only wished to stay for a short time, when really, she planned to go wherever Daemon wished to go. Laenor would not require much convincing to escape a life he did not care for.
__________
Three days had passed since their return to King's Landing and yet the youngest Targaryen daughter still slept.
Alicent sat beside the young girl's bedside wondering if she would ever wake. Apparently, her son had thought the same as he had chosen to ask her that very question.
"Will she survive her injuries, mother?" Aegon's voice was quiet and solemn but it would be clear to anyone around that he had overindulged in wine, from the flush on his cheeks to the unavoidable slurring of his words.
He had begun to find comfort in his cups and the touch of the divine wenches residing in the street of silk far more often since the return home, but he hadn't failed to visit his young sister. She had always been so sweet and loving towards him when his parents had failed to be.
Alicent closed her eyes tightly at her son's question before responding in an irked manner. "I don't know, Aegon." She breathed an exhausted sigh, wiping her face with her hands.
Aegon ignored his mother's harsh tone, his eyes continued to linger on Y/N's frail state. He feared that the last memory she would have was of him restraining her and causing her more pain.
Unable to keep his troubled thoughts at bay, he stumbled out of the room and chanced himself a servant on the way back to his chambers.
Aemond, on the other hand, had not been able to bring himself to visit Y/N. He had failed her, and he had failed to do his duty as her brother; to protect her, and keep her from harm.
He also feared that should she wake, she would be as repulsed by his appearance as everyone else was, himself included.
Aemond found himself in the garden his sister had so frequently visited. His eye glanced at the many flowers in bloom before it locked onto something glinting in the shadows.
With long strides, he walked towards the trunk of the tree he enjoyed sitting against and kneeled down. He picked up the book which lay on the ground. The title read:
Flora of Westeros.
It was Y/N's book about flowers, one that Viserys had gifted to her on her eighth name day. Ever since then, the girl cherished and utilised it almost every day.
Aemond turned the book, eyeing it with intrigue and wondering why it had been abandoned outside, better yet - who had taken it.
__________
"Eyes of tears, fueled by red. Words of malice, turned dread." Helaena chanted under her breath seemingly in another world as always.
It was only when her younger brother's hand lightly touched her shoulder that she stopped and flinched.
"Helaena, why did you take Y/N's book?" Aemond had come to the conclusion that only his brother, mother, or sister could have taken the book, and with Helaena's interest in insects he deducted that she may have taken the book to for information on flowers attracting certain insects.
"I didn't take it, I borrowed it," she paused, keeping herself out of Aemond's touch. "I only wished to see if there were any flowers I could use to attract a Luna moth. I thought it may help cheer Y/N up when she wakes." Helaena's gaze stayed towards the ground as she continued to speak, her voice still soft. "It is difficult to stay above water when there are so many causing you to sink."
Aemond paid her last words with no mind, distracted by his own thoughts. He briskly made his way to his chambers, eager to read the book in his hand.
________
Another two days had passed before Aemond had summoned the courage to visit his younger sister.
Upon opening the door he was startled to see she already had a visitor.
The eldest son sat, cup in his hand, the underneath of his eyes against his pale skin. It was the worst Aemond had ever seen his brother; Aegon had fallen into a pit of his own despair, one which he would never escape from.
Aegon's eyes moved to his younger brother and he let out a tut. "I should have known you'd visit, sooner or later." From the slight drawl of his words and the glassy sheen over his eyes, Aemond knew he was drunk. Again.
"She's our sister," His voice started strong before he finally let his eye rest on Y/N, her hair splayed out from underneath her as it had been so many times while she laid in the garden. There were still hints of red in it, as though it were a reminder taunting him of what had happened to his sister.
"Of course I would visit her." His voice ended quietly, guilt seeping into his mind as he gazed at her dull and lifeless appearance.
"Mm," Aegon hummed in reply, letting his eyes close completely for a second.
After opening his violet eyes he nodded his head gesturing to the item that Aemond held in his hand.
"Why do you have a flower?" He asked, curious to know his brother's reasoning.
"Y/N speaks of flowers often, she's always liked them." Aemond responds casually as though it is common knowledge.
He was bewildered by that, he never knew she was interested in flowers.
Aegon turned towards the young girl beside him, his thoughts eating away at him; perhaps they were not as close as they once were.
With one last glance towards her; he wished she would wake and provide him the comfort and attention he so desperately craved from anyone but only ever received from her.
He stood to his feet and approached Aemond. The two boys had never been close. However, Aegon chose to place his hand on his little brother's shoulder as an offer of solace and apology for his failure to protect them both.
Once he left the room, Aemond's eye landed on Y/N and he was once again consumed by his guilt.
With trepidation, he approached her and sat where his brother had been seated by her side.
His lip trembled as he caught sight of the scar on the back of her head. He felt queasy from looking at it.
Dried blood, bruises upon bruises, scratches littered her head, neck, and body (he was only thankful he did not have to see the wounds her body had endured for himself).
As though she were sand that would slip through his grasp and be lost, he gently clutched her hand in his and placed the purple flower carefully in her hand and before closing it for her.
Before he was able to speak tears brimmed his eye. "I know how much you love flowers," he paused swallowing slowly before continuing to speak, "so I took it upon myself to read your book and find the most suitable flower for you." He wore a sad smile on his face as a tear fell from his eye. "This is a Gladiolus. It is said that the fiercest of warriors would be given these flowers by their wives as a symbol of protection and strength." He leaned closer to her, his hand now touching her shoulder gently.
"Kustikāne (strength)," his demeanour weakened as an unexpected sob worked its way into the word.
"You must wake up." His voice was but a whimper as he pled with his unconscious sibling. "Please," he had grown hysterical.
"I cannot live without you, I cannot be strong on my own." Aemond truly weeped as he spoke, the aftermath of having lost an eye and perhaps his sister, proved to be too much for the boy.
"I beg of you." His hand, which grasped her shoulder, had changed to a firm grip.
A foolish and immature part of him had hoped his words would be enough to wake her, that his prayers to the Gods would cause them to take pity on him and release his sister from death's steady grip but several moments had passed and the girl remained the same, unaware and unconscious.
"Iksan vaoreznuni (I'm sorry)," he sobbed weakly, as more tears fell from his eye. "Nyke qringaomatan naejot mīsagon ao (I failed to protect you."
His failure had reminded him of who had caused this to happen, who he had failed to protect her from.
The bastards and the twins.
Some moments pass before Aemond gains a little control over his emotions. His hand still grasped hers, and he spoke again. "I will not fail you again. I will kill those animals for what they have done to you. I swear it."
He placed the gentlest of kisses to her clammy yet cold forehead before taking his leave. He would have to retrain himself with to accommodate his lost vision, for the next time he might come face to face with his nephews and the twins.
________
The Queen sat at her daughter's side once again. It had been two moons, and she still had not woken. Helaena's name day had come and gone. She had become a girl of one and three.
A banquet was held for everyone to celebrate Helaena's coming of age despite (most of) the family grieving Y/N.
Alicent was not surprised when her father had proposed a banquet be held in honour of Helaena's name day, she had always been his favourite grandchild and it was no secret that the man had very little love for Y/N.
"We should celebrate the occasion, one and three is a significant age for a girl."
Aegon was not in attendance. Alicent had come to the conclusion that he was chasing the wenches of the streets, as he often did but that night he had opted instead to visit Y/N and sat by her side, drinking his pain and spilling his sorrows to her.
Aemond did make an appearance, but he kept to the shadows, trying to ignore the many stares and whispers of the nobles and servants alike.
Helaena herself did not enjoy the feast despite it being held in her name. She had comforted herself by trapping a beetle against the palms of her hands and held it through the ordeal murmuring to it words of comfort she only wished someone would provide her with.
Viserys tried to keep face. Truly, he did, but he had to excuse himself before the night had truly begun. Part of the reason was due to the tremendous physical pain he was in, and the other part was due to his anguish at seeing the two empty seats that should have held Aegon and Y/N.
The feast was a rather grim occasion and no celebration took place that night.
Alicent was no fool she could see the impact this was having on her children, the impact it was having on her but why was she sat here every day, why did she torture herself endlessly over her daughter's fate?
It was not unknown that Alicent had disliked Y/N ever since she'd birthed her. How could she not?
Even while in her womb, Y/N had caused her sleepless nights, pains and sickness at any movement along with near death unlike which she had ever experienced before with her other pregnancies. She truly believed she was to birth a creature, perhaps that of a dragon.
Ever since then, she'd grown to be the opposite of Alicent, wild and unruly yet still possessing poise and politeness, shockingly. She took more of her sister's characteristics than her own mother's. She was more Targaryen than any of the children, and it terrified Alicent.
Alicent was not ignorant to the murmurs of a taint in Targaryen blood, a mental instability. To most Targaryens embodied exoticism, power, and true leadership, but Alicent, with thanks to her father, saw them in a different light - centuries of inbreeding, dragon bonding surely somewhere down the line the taint would reveal itself, it already had many times according to her father- Daenys the Dreamer, Aegon the Conqueror, Maegor the Cruel to name the prime examples provided by her father.
"She's a Targaryen through and through."
"Not a speck of Hightower in the girl."
Her father's words echoed in her mind, and she inhaled deeply.
He was wrong.
Y/N had proved herself when she had attempted to avenge Aemond, despite her own health having already been diminished.
Aemond. Alicent's thoughts drifted to her second oldest son. He was always such a quiet and scholarly boy.
After the incident, he spent most of his time with his newly acquired companion, Vhagar.
As the family broke their fast together (with the exception of Aegon, who would lay in a drunken stupor within his chambers), Aemond would limit the words he shared with his family, especially his father, before leaving the table, in a hurry to visit Y/N and then his monstrous mount.
As her thoughts of family interrupted the quiet of her mind, Alicent felt her energy slip effortlessly from her again, her eyes blinked wearily.
It would not be the first time she had slept in that chair...
Her eyes closed again, but this time, her sleepiness was interrupted by a whisper so pathetic and frail that had the room not been silent, she would have failed to hear it.
"Ae-m-"
But it would be the last.
[Sorry for the long wait, I had two assignments due in for uni, so priorities, and I rewrote this chapter about 6 times.
This chapter and the next are kind of suspense/build up chapters but hopefully they've given a little bit of insight into how each individual character thinks (or doesn't think) of Y/N.
Again, I have to warn you that this will get pretty dark in the future, and the character of Y/N will not be portrayed to be a sweet or 'good' person that can change Aegon or Aemond or whoever else for the better, they all have their flaws, some more than others -Aegon 😶-.
I find that sort of thing too predictable and not well-suited to the ending I have planned out. Plus I don't like making a character too different to their true personalities.
I'm making this fic more as a story about Y/N as an individual and her effect on those around her. This is her life story, not her love story so enjoy!]

I need more roleplay partners
This is an active attempt at making people want to roleplay with me, because I just need more active ones, other than the one that I currently have (they're irreplaceable for sure!)
Now, I accept anything MxM and FxF, shipping OCs is cool, but I mainly ship things from fandoms (I am quite sure that you will recognise at least one of these, trust me). I find gore completely fine and I come for drama, as long as it doesn't come out of nowhere. I write in a weird mix between semi-lit and literate. If I keep myself short, I either don't know what to write or I am preoccupied with something else at the moment. 18+ stuff is good too, I am 20 (I am a pure bottom, but not all that I roleplay is submissive, most of them stand their ground quite well). I am a very creative person, who will most likely find a plot in anything, so if you want to add things aswell, just let me know!
These are the fandoms that I roleplay (+ if I am desperate to roleplay in it lol)
♤Dream Daddy (not really desperate, only doing it if I get to be Damien)
♡Spaloon 1-3 (yes, yes, yes, all of them queer tentacle creatures!)
♤Pokemon (every generation is fine, we can even be the Pokemon, I am a furry)
♡No Straight Roads (I had an incident, not doing it for at least the next few months)
♤The Stanley Parable (not really desperate, I've done it quite a bit)
♡Countryhumans (it's been at least three years, very desperate and I make a good Germany and Finland)
♤Undertale/Deltarune (I never really mind it, even the AUs are cool)
♡Team Fortress 2 (always up for it, if I get to be either Medics)
♤Super Mario/Luigi's Mansion 2-3 (I want to do it from time to time)
♡Jojo's Bizarre Adventure part 3-4 (the most desperate, poor Kakyoin got done dirty!)
♤Hazbin Hotel/Helluva Boss (eh, could be worse, I'm obsessed with Staticmoth (don't expect me to be Val though))
♡Detroit Become Human (not desperate, but I can make exceptions)
♤Yokai Watch (I just think this one to be fun)
♡Pikmin 1-4 (I'd be willing to try it)
♤Super Smash Bros (I'd be Mii Swordfighter because he's my main)
♡Steven Universe (I'd be up to do it, respectfully for the lesbian space rocks)
♤My Little Pony (Sure, why not!)
♡Sonic (I don't know much, but I am still willing to do it)
♤Villainous (I make a good Flug and Slug, not desperate though)
♡Good Omens (I have not seen the second season yet, but still!)
♤Hetalia (I am not really knowledgeable, but I can roleplay as Ludwig)
♡Sanders Sides (there are possibilities)
♤Fnaf (I really like being Bonnie of any kind ^^)
♡Cookie Run Kingdom (there's good potential in it!)
♤Wander Over Yander (I literally only want to do deathglare and to be Peepers!)
♡Legends Of Avantris - specifically Once Upon A Witchlight or Stardust Rhapsody (honestly, I would absolutely love to!)
If you are interested in roleplaying with me now, you can comment or dm me. If you prefer roleplaying with me on Discord, I can send you my Discord in dms.

My Dearest, ep 4
THIS was episode 4? THIS?!? This show has set a very high bar early on and I am almost giddy with the prospect that later episodes might be even better. This show will probably be my new obsession.
The show does an excellent job at showing the brutality of war and how woefully unprepared the scholars were. We also see the sheer loss absolute trauma those who remain are left with. I do love the contrast between those who are defeated and want to go home and Yeon Jun who has become even more determined.
It's really interesting to me that Gil Chae's fiancee knew she actually liked Yeon Jun but was okay with that? It's almost as if her feelings were more an open secret. I'm not sure if Gil Chae is aware of that.
Jang Hyun is fascinating. While he is clearly intelligent, it doesn't account for his knowledge and battle strategy which he obviously has. And we see later that he is a very skilled fighter. I wonder exactly what is in his past
I love that Gil Chae listened to Jang Hyun about the seeing the smoke and immediately told the villagers and helped convince them to leave. Though she is still frivolous enough to bury her shoes. To be fair she's not alone in doing this. She does choose to stay behind on for the later ferry so the little boy can go first.
The elderly couple made me cry. How they wanted to be together in their next life. He loved her so much, despite despite her being mute (which was likely unusual given the time period). Seeing them curled up together, covered in snow with the straw dolls made me cry again. Well done show for having such minor characters make a huge impact. They also left an impression on Jang Hyun, who respectfully buries them, because now he wants revenge.
Gil Chae is ever resourceful and willing to do what is needed. Even help deliver a baby when she doesn't know how (which, by the way Scarlett also did in Gone with the Wind when Atlanta was under siege if we want to keep a GwtW tally). She uses the knife that Jang Hyun to cut the umbilical cord.
Gil Chae takes charge of the whole situation. She needs to survive and to protect the new baby, the mother and the others. Which is why she can loot the poor dead man's body. He won't need the furs but the baby does. (but for the love of god, please cover his head).
The show does not shy away from showing how perilous it is for women in this situation. Not just for being potentially raped (which I'm happy they didn't actually show) but for how shamed and shunned by society women are if it does happen or if there is even a hint of it (and in some ways that has not changed several hundred years later) But Gil Chae not only physically saves Eun Ae but also saves her from the shame.
Jang Hyun killing the barbarians who killed granny and gramps was everything. It was also everything when he saved Gil Gae and Gil Chae, recognizing him from her dream calls him "dear husband" without realizing it. He notices it though.
I cannot wait for the next episodes.

Planar Tour Guide: The First World part 4
Tumblr media
(art by Whendell on DeviantArt)
Adventuring
And now we know what we could potentially find in this vast plane of wonder, but what sort of stories can we tell in it?
There are many reasons for mortals to enter the realm of the fey, but perhaps the most common one is “by complete accident.” After all, it’s exceedingly possible for someone who has gotten lost in the wilds, perhaps chasing after a mischievous fey creature, to find themselves in one of the natural portals to the First World. Oftentimes they may not at first even realized they’ve crossed a planar boundary, leading them to wander in wonder at the place they have found. However, often when the true nature or the danger of the realm are revealed, it becomes a race to make it back through the gate before the more malevolent forces of the plane take notice.
Of course, some come there on purpose, and what more classic way than the proverbial “hunt for the elixir”? The First World being a primal place of magic, can be a bounty of rare magical ingredients that may very well not exist anywhere else in the multiverse, perfect for brewing a potion to remove a terrible disease, or complete a unique magic item or ritual. Such items may be simple quests just to find them, while others may have to be bargained for with strange or esoteric goods required to procure them. Is your memories of your parents worth what you seek to gain?
With vast libraries like that of the Lost Prince or Shyka, information is also an important commodity in the First World. Also consider the prophecies of Magdh and her norns, which may be one of the last sources of untwisted or clear prophecy, or it may be as unclear as all the others, but at least it’s provided by an impartial source. In any case, despite being abandoned by the multiverse, the fey hear and see much, providing useful information for those that treat them respectfully.
While many need to find their way out again once they find themselves in the First World, sometimes the quest itself is to get out, either themselves, or possibly someone else who was drawn in my mishap or malevolence. Such victims might be terribly lost with varying degrees of knowledge of the danger they are in, or they might be the kidnapping victims of malevolent fey with undesirable designs, or they might be prison-guests of a fey lord, trapped on a whim or perhaps due to some slight that they must atone for, which the party must negotiate a reduced sentence for or brave combat against such tricksters to get them back.
This leads nicely into the next topic, because the fey often have very strange rules for how they deal with mortals. We’ve all heard the stories of victims trapped forever in the fey realms because they ate a bit of food there. This might be a hospitality thing, the victim accruing a debt they are forced to make up by staying, or the food might bind them physically to the realm. So too are there many other rules that visitors are expected to abide by and the fey are not likely to be eager to explain to outsiders. Worse still, while these rules might be universal, they might also vary depending on who’s domain you are in, and navigating this strange etiquette will likely need some help from benevolent fey the party befriend, as well as a heaping helping of that everyman cleverness that is so very popular in fairy tales.
Even without the strange magical rules, there is also the potential politics of the fey courts, of which the party would be wise to respect. They may be childish, petty, and cruel, but the same could be said of mortal politics. However, fey are much more likely to punish slights against them more directly and totally than your average mortal noble.
Of course, for all of these unique traits to the First World, sometimes setting an adventure in such a setting need only be done simply because you want a particular quest or adventure to take place somewhere even more strange and exotic than the normal fantasy setting the game usually takes place in, and what better place for that than a realm where the terrain and laws of physics demonstrate ideas that cannot normally exist in the “real” world?
That will do for today, but tomorrow, we’ll take a final look at The First World as a plane. Look forward to it then!

BurnBunny & Here's Why!! ❤️‍🔥🐇
Actually, for a while, I didn't know why I shipped Burnin and Miruko. And honestly? My ultimate reason now is because I just like to.
They're two enjoyable characters to me and I just like seeing them as a ship.
Over the months (since the end of last July) of shipping them, I have found what makes them an enjoyable ship for me and why right now they're my favorite Miruko and Burnin ship.
Now, I'm not writing this to convince anyone to ship them, I don't care if you do or don't. Because so, I honestly don't care for any disputes over any "points" I make here. If you disagree, I respectfully you just keep it to yourself.
This post is written for fun. I don't care for the "Well, I like this ship better" or anything like that.
For once, how about we remember what boundaries are and that shipping shouldn't be some high school debate? Okay? Okay then!
Onwards to what I came to love about BurnBunny!
❤️‍🔥🐇
The Characters!
It is no secret that Miruko is my #1 GODDESS of BNHA. I adore her, I think she's great and I love how both her voice actresses (Sayaka Kinoshita and Anairis Quinoñes) portray her voice in sub and dub.
I bring up voice acting because that's also something else I love about Burnin. I grew up listening to Lisa Ortiz since I watched 4Kids so hearing her as Burnin in dub did give me pleasant flashbacks to my childhood Saturday mornings. I'm also giving props to Misato Kawauchi here.
I just like both their sub and dub voices, okay?
Besides, the voices, I find both characters fun from personality to design.
They're underrated. First off, Burnin should get a lot more credit for dealing with Endeavor and the agency. Like??? I do not see a lot of other female sidekicks for him (the women in WHM were actually not from his agency). Burnin is really the only woman I see. Could you imagine being in her shoes?
And then Miruko?! Oh my gosh, don't get me started on Miruko! She has to be emotionally, mentally and physically exhausted hopping from place to place BY HERSELF.
Let me be real here, if I didn't like either of these characters, I wouldn't see the point of having a ship for them.
If I ship characters, that means I like them individually, too. I just never understood having a ship yet hating one of the characters. I just don't and never will.
Shipping them has made me appreciate them more because of just how much deep diving I have done to understand each character (more so Miruko). I explore what I can and get my mind going to come up with headcanons and theories and the like.
Potential Chemistry!
They are alike by personality and they kinda balance each other out. They can easily understand each other without having to guess and not tiptoe around problems. They can be blunt with each other.
Hear me out now.
Both Miruko and Burnin come off as characters to me as people who do love a thrill, who doesn't mind getting dirty, but at the same time does want someone to comfort them without babying them. Want someone to tell them how it is, but also is capable of being gentle and considerate.
Off rip, neither of them would hesitate to make a move. To me, Miruko would be the one to realize if she likes someone, when the time is right, she is telling that person how she feels. She would regret not doing it. Burnin, same way. She comes off as a straightforward person.
They would also understand each other. Miruko and Burnin can confide in each other because of having similar workplace experiences. They can go home to each other and talk to each other about their days of having to deal with other Heroes and saving people. They can comfort each other after some asshole criticizes them unfairly. They can treat each other to cuddles and making snacks and pillow forts because that's what they know the other needs.
The Vibes!! The Idea of Them!
Just think!! You got these two badass, gorgeous women! They could be a power couple in my eyes, have each other's backs both be it fighting villains or grocery shopping together.
Burnin can be the sun to Miruko's moon!
Just see the vision here, folks!
The idea of these two being all cute with each other?
THEY HAVE HEIGHT DIFFERENCE, BY THE WAY!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Fics!
It's just so easy to writing these two, even with how little I have to go off from canon. They haven't interacted once in canon, but for my fics?
I was able to come up with a shared backstory that just fits! They went to rival hero schools, met one time during a joint school event, became friends while also having a rivalry and stayed friends for years before deciding "Hey, we should be girlfriends".
Like I need this fandom to enjoy rare pairs and F/F ships a little bit more because oh my gosh these two!!
I visualize when I write so, just the mental image of Miruko and Burnin being all soft and sweet with each other has me! Like Miruko is at the height that Burnin can kiss her forehead, just saying.
Look, after months of writing fluff fics of them I have accepted it's what I needed in life. Remember when I mentioned how shipping them made me appreciate and understand the characters? Even with, again, little from canon?
Yeah, writing them in fics got the creativity flowing and forging a relationship that could exist while also giving each other character more individually. It feels great. They're both characters that work like empty canvas that I can add on more colors onto.
They Can Be Anything I Want!
Given that this is a rare pair, they're not very popular in this fandom. While, yeah, some may say it sucks but I also came to appreciate them being so underrated.
For one, shipping discourse. I doubt there is any discourse about Burnin and Miruko as a ship because little people think about them as a ship. I doubt I will find them in some ship war because again, they're underrated.
And the beauty is I can write them how I envision them to be and rarely I'll get someone to oppose my vision. (I haven't yet and I don't want to.)
What sometimes suck about liking a popular ship is the amount of discourse and fights you'll see around it. Be it preferences in bed or who cooks and who cleans... just arguments over every little thing.
It's like people can't have different opinions, everyone must agree on one vision for that ship. 🙄
It's tiresome, it's stupid and that's why I stay in my own little corner.
Now I have my own vision of BurnBunny I enjoy and I'm sure one or two people may not see them how I do. But no matter how much I love them as a ship, I'm not the "top shipper" for them and will dictate how others should see them, just throwing that out there.
❤️‍🔥🐇
That's really I have to say for these two? Again, not looking to start a whole group of BurnBunny shippers (that sounds like a lot of work...). Not trying to convince anyone they're the best ship or anything.
Just voicing my thoughts! Just rambling here.

One last rambly post before I go be productive. This one is less shitposty... though it's also about Kunigami so, you know. Expect copium from a stan.
He features in four panels during this week's chapter, which is a development. He features once in each of the preceding chapters (230 & 231), minor appearances in either case. Squint or you'll miss him altogether.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That said, the mangaka and writer continually remind us of his presence, much as they have with Hiori in the run up to and during the Ubers match. Although he hasn't had a proper line of dialogue since chapter 218, and he hasn't done anything particularly meaningful since chapter 219.
Tumblr media
But that's to be expected.
What happened in chapter 219? It's the build up to Kaiser's goal in the following chapter (220). As a reminder, Kunigami initiated that attack himself, and cleared many of the defenders single-handedly. But without support, his attack chances were goosed. So Isagi intercepted the ball, and through a series of plays, Kaiser ended up scoring.
What's happening now (in chapter 232)? Another Bastard Munchen goal attempt, this time spearheaded by Kaiser from the start.
Kunigami has fallen into operating as a goal poacher. Where he positions himself in chapter 232 is reminiscent of his positioning in chapter 185, where he scores against Manshine using Isagi's shot attempt. You can understand why he continues to use this method. Compare his placement here with where he positions himself beside Aryu, in the leak panels above.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It doesn't work out for him this time though, because Lorenzo deflects the ball away from him... and he doesn't have metavision like Isagi, allowing him to foresee that chain of events. He waits around for the opportunity like a scavenger, unable to use his mind to play the potential scenarios out. It's less efficient, and he also has no one to support his plays. Respectfully, Isagi would be a lot less efficient too if he didn't have Kurona, Hiori or even Yukimiya for assists.
Kunigami himself isn't playing up and down the pitch because he's a forward, and in part because he has no metavision. Tellingly, he barely featured during the Star Change system, when Ubers were the dominant attackers. But is he still an effective player overall?
Certainly. Had Lorenzo been sloppier about that deflection and sent it the other direction, it'd have been on Aryu to keep that ball out of Kunigami's reach within a split second. Kunigami's a difficult player to contain, even two on one. Ubers would have been in danger there, had the ball gone his way rather than Isagi's. While the deflection could be random, I wonder whether that's something Lorenzo considered. If the choice was Aryu V Kunigami, or Aiku V Isagi... well, I'd put my money on Aiku every time. No shade, glam king, you're still an icon ✨
The point I'm making is, Kunigami is always present when Bastard Munchen are attacking. If he's not driving the attack himself (as he was in chapter 218/219), then he's hanging around to see if he can steal a goal opportunity from another forward (Isagi, and now Kaiser too).
Tumblr media
As much as I enjoy the jokes about Kunigami being absent in this match due to his shinigami side hustle, it is tiresome to read through people slandering his ability to play overall. He can, and he continues to pose a danger to the goal whenever the ball is in play in that area. We can dump on him for being inflexible, for not having metavision, or for his shitty personality change. But I wanted to highlight as per the latest chapter, how he's shown to be engaged and present within this match.
Further reading: I did a deep dive on what Kunigami's role is in the Neo-Egoist league here.
I take the piss out of him here and here, if memes are more your speed.

In response to the ask for a chemotherapy comfort audio - mild CW for addressing real world health issues including seizures, and apologies for the colossal post, but I felt this is an important topic;
Hey, random meh VA/writer here, just giving my thoughts on this sort of subject in general.
Firstly, I mean no slight against people who do niche comfort audios for real things. If you enjoy that kind of stuff, more power to you! If you make content that broaches real things like this, I have some thoughts but by all means make the content you want! Just giving a few of my thoughts on why I personally err away from making these audios.
The issue as I see it is that there's a murky line between addressing real world issues responsibly, and addressing them in a way that feels wrong. This is why I say it's murky, because it very much comes down to how it feels, it's hard to quantify. There are a lot of period comfort/reverse comfort audios out there, and while I'm not against them (in fact one from a few years ago comes to mind that was very well-written), a lot of people I've spoken to are put-off by them particularly when done by male VAs.
I feel some of the concern with real world issue audios like these is when they're not done with the right amount of familiarity with the subject, or when they feel like they're done for the wrong reasons, i.e. if they're not approached properly they can come off as somewhat... fetishistic? Exploitative?
As an example of the former, coming-out audios. Honestly I have a deep respect for this genre of comfort audio even if they're not my kind of thing, but they do need to be written with the right amount of respect, and you can really get a feeling if the writer isn't familiar enough with the subject, even if they mean well. There's a reason sensitivity readers are important; I'm sure I don't need to list the potential pitfalls of an autism comfort audio if made by someone with no experience with autism. (don't have any creators in mind here, not disparaging anyone, just giving possible examples)
Again, I'm not knocking real life styled comfort audios, it's wonderful they exist! A small VA I saw years ago comes to mind whose speaker characters are (IIRC) all blind, because the creator themselves is also blind, and so the topic felt extremely respectfully and knowledgeably explored! These concerns are just among the reasons I personally don't really do them.
That said, for the subjects I feel I have enough experience to be able to comment meaningfully, some of my audios address fictionalised issues that are coded similarly to these sorts of things, and I feel that as long as I'm careful to make sure the subtext isn't carrying an unintended negative message, then listeners are able to read in their own interpretations depending on how they relate. Honestly the way people react to these sorts of audios means the world! For instance I had an audio where the listener reveals to the speaker that they aren't human. It was a fantasy comfort/acceptance audio, which (while initially unintended) was very obviously coded as a coming-out audio. I'd spotted the coding late in writing, and just made sure that the subtext was respectful to that but I didn't explicitly lean into it, but later a queer friend thanked me for it saying it meant a lot the way it was written, that it was meaningful to them. Other of my characters are coded as genderqueer, so while the stories are fictional and fantastical, their experiences are relatable - to my own experiences and hopefully to the listeners as well - and allow me to address these feelings and, I hope, deliver a good message without hammering the audience with real world problems.
Conversely, imagine if a fictional coming-out story's subtext happened to be "it's better to be what other people tell you to be, don't be who you are" - even if it's a story about magical creatures and not queer people, the message is a problem. I put a lot of thought into one audio I made when I realised the subtext was "gullibly believe what people tell you even when they don't have evidence" to make sure the fictional story still worked for what I was going for, and also didn't unintentionally promote harmful reasoning.
I think I've only gotten a direct request once for a real-world comfort audio; someone commented asking for a seizure comfort audio. As I explained in response, if someone with enough experience on the subject wants to make comfort audios on that subject that sounds great, but I definitely don't know anywhere near enough to be comfortable doing that. For me to weigh in on seizure comfort in a story... I could probably throw something functional and well-meaning together, but it just feels wrong for me to do that. I'm ignorant on the subject, it would feel to me like I were condescending down to people who actually have seizures about their own conditions. A little while later they responded again, I think in their mind trying to pep me up and give some suggestions for a scenario I could write (there's another conversation to be had about unsolicited requests but I'll leave that here). Coincidentally, in the time between my response and their response back, my mother had had a seizure in front of me, and I had received the second "could you make a seizure comfort audio?" comment while she was still at the hospital (she's fine, full recovery). I regret the way I was more terse in my response after that, the commenter deleted everything after so I couldn't reach out later in a better headspace and apologise. But I guess this is the key issue with addressing real world problems in fiction; they're still real world problems. If you're going to do it, you have to do it responsibly.
For the ask this was in response to; if I were asked if I could make a chemo comfort audio, I think it'd have to be a no. I don't have enough knowledge on the subject to feel like I could comfortably comment on it. I could make a generic "you're in the hospital feeling bad" comfort audio, but for me to then slap a "chemo comfort" in the title and no no other work feels to me exploitative. If any of my illness comfort scenarios are relatable to anyone in a similar situation, it's genuinely awesome when people relate to things like that! I do try to make sure that whatever coding the story has, even if it's not intentional, the story isn't delivering a bad message it shouldn't be.
Am I overthinking things? Maybe. Sorry for the huge message again, I understand if the esteemed Ringmaster feels this ask isn't the kind of thing they're looking for and doesn't post it, that's cool! Just had a lot of thoughts in response.
Also most importantly; to the asker and to anyone else going through chemo or similar, sending you energy and love, and wishing you all the best!
I dunno, call me N

[Hefty sigh]
How does one get into sonic prime, I mean I adore where they're going for the story but I'm still struggling to get through s1 because the voice are just not clicking with me. Don't get me wrong here props to the Canadian VA's and the crew as a whole but the fact that I don't really vibe well with the chaos council as a concept [since they aren't really as menacing as the actual egg but I get what they're going for..... kinda.... ] This is like the one sonic media I can't personally click into, and I honest to God adored Underground/Boom so it's probably just a me-squick....
I have literally been a sonic fan since birth reading the comics so it's just tonal whiplash trying to get used to it- I'm lost in my own confusion that they already produced 3 seasons @_@;;; I just feel like I'm alone in feeling this or something idk I'm just merely screaming into the sonic-fandom wondering if anyone else felt this way hsbshbsshv ////
I'm just as clueless as you on that unfortunately lol. Respectfully I'm not a fan personally, I think the ideas had potential to be interesting if done right but I just don't find the execution appealing. I hate to say it and don't wanna be overly negative but I was honestly bored watching the first eight episodes, they were hard to get through and it was a bit of a letdown for me.
It feels underwhelming and repetitive because practically the same cycle of events happens each episode and it's not very interesting at that. I haven't watched any episodes past those, I watched nothing but the Eggman prismatic titan thing in the last batch and don't plan on watching the rest. I just decided it wasn't for me, not what I'm looking for in a Sonic show.
I'm sad I didn't end up liking it after being interested in where they could take it, especially with how much potential I feel New Yoke City had because it was conceptually right up my alley but execution is just not to my tastes and I've accepted it. I shouldn't be surprised as I'm not into most of the non game media ^^; I was just hoping for a modern show like X again
If they had more regular Eggman they could've changed my opinion a lot not gonna lie because the small 5 mins of him was great. Characterization was good, he was funny, his model and animation were gorgeous, voice was okayyy just needed some improvements, and I was interested in what he would've done with the prism had Sonic not shattered it and erased him from existence. When he practically died my interest went along with it sorry dhfjsbfksbfks
The Chaos Council just don't interest me personally because each are missing all the parts of Eggman combined that make him his lovable whole to me. And when you just want the real deal to still have his place like he seemed he was going to initially in the concept art, only for him to not be there at all, it's hard to get into it when you're thinking about what could've been. Also yeah they're just not menacing and don't bring the same exciting world shattering chaos and action the real deal does
And oh no they're really still only on the first season, eight episodes isn't a season. Netflix is just being weird about how they have it realized in batches and how it separates them but no way is eight episodes a whole season. They only had the first season made and released with huge gaps but maybe they'll order for a second one to be made.
But yeah you're not alone. It's very popular and I'm glad people can enjoy it but yeah it didn't click with me either and I can relate on feeling like the odd one out. But that makes two of us! and I do know others who just don't like it either and I don't think we should feel a pressure to try to get into it, if we don't like it and it's just not for us then it's fine

Hey! I was looking through the information about your Links, and I really like the direction your AU is going :D I'm always a fan of some HW brothers content and I love the potential of having totk/botw Link with AoC Link :D
I do want to let you know though, that some parts of the character information can come off ableist. I'm confident it was never your intent, but I highly encourage doing research before representing disabled people--mentally and physically. (Pardon, this might run a little long, I'm rambly and I'm very passionate about doing your own research before you represent communities, since we're a system with BPD, PPD and chronic pain. Misinformation only hurts the communities you try to represent, and disability is NOT an aesthetic).
With that in mind, I would like to point out that Tears "traumatising the others by taking off his arm" can come off incredibly misinformed about Prosthetics. Amputees do not wear their prosthetics all the time, they aren't surgically attached to their bodies and "traumatises" implies that the act of taking off an assistive device can be scary/unsettling when it should not be. Many amputees will actively go days without wearing their prosthetics, and a lot of them even have wheelchairs or canes to suffice :D wearing a prosthetic all day every day without taking it off can be extremely unhealthy.
The other thing I want to point out is Tune answering with "for the aesthetic" when asked why he wears an eyepatch and that he actually didn't lose an eye. Respectfully, but partial blindness is not an aesthetic 😭😭 I understand that its the "pirate" aesthetic but...those pirates...usually actually have lost their eyes. For light sensitivity, there are real assistive devices called "Blackout Glasses" which are used to reduce incoming light to the sensitive eyes. Though, I can also understand that since this is his answer and not a narrative excuse, it's possible it's just ableism that the character displays but the narrative doesn't excuse but I'd rather be safe than sorry.
That all being said, I don't think you were intentionally ableist and I'm not calling you ableist either /clar I mean no disrespect and I love your AU so far, I'm interested to see more of it, but I'm coming from a place of care when I say that there's aspects of it that can seem misinformed. Disability is already so vastly misunderstood in the internet sphere and it's a serious problem that inhibit millions of people; not an aesthetic or something you can put into stories to make characters more interesting or push traumatic backstory.
(Also, feel free to Not post this, there's no obligation to! My tumblr is just heinously broken and I can't send DMs.)
Thank you for sending this! It was absolutely not my intent at all to cause harm or misrepresent. As someone who is disabled myself, I believe representation is so so so important and I try my best to do as well as I can. I’ve done a lot of research to write characters with experiences different from my own correctly and as respectfully as possible.
I fully acknowledge I was in the wrong by using the word ‘traumatized’ to describe how Tears suddenly taking off his arm makes the others feel, and I deeply apologize for that. The word I meant was ‘startled’, and I have fixed that. Thank you for bringing that to my attention! I struggle with tone and words and that is no excuse, and I definitely used the wrong word so thank you so much for pointing that out. I know it is uncomfortable to wear prosthetics for long periods of time which is why Tears takes theirs off, however the reason I said it’s a bit startling to the others is because they had no idea it was a prosthetic the first time it happened. Tears wears a lot of long sleeves, especially at first, and the prosthetic simply isn’t visible, and he didn’t warn the others, he just simply took it off. It can be quite shocking to see your friend suddenly remove their arm. The others also often forget he has a prosthetic and worry if that arm of his gets ‘hurt’ before remembering Tears is completely okay. Again, I am so sorry, I did use the wrong word, that is my fault, I have fixed it.
As far as Tune and his eyepatch goes, I haven’t had the opportunity to write out a full post about him, but he is based on me. To explain it further: one of his eyes is very sensitive to the light, the other is fine, hence why he only covers one. It is very hard for him to see in bright lighting with his right eye, so he covers it to protect it. There’s nothing “wrong” with it, it was never injured, it’s just always been that way. He takes the patch off when he’s in dimly lit rooms or areas because his eye can handle low levels of light, so he’ll take it off when he goes below deck in order to see because that eye is adjusted to darkness. Again, his vision situation is based solely off of myself and the way I experience highly and lowly lit areas, though I have also done some research on the situation in addition to using my own experience. I’ve had to wear eyepatches, I know how uncomfortable they are. He wears it for a functional reason, but he doesn’t like to explain that to people because they don’t tend to understand, so he jokes around abut it. He may say it’s for that pirate aesthetic, but without it, he’s in immense pain. His eyepatch protects him
If I have upset anyone by Tune still having an eye and wearing an eyepatch I am truly sorry /gen. It was never my intention to cause harm or make anyone upset. Thank you for bringing this to my attention though, if you have anything else, please let me know and don’t hesitate to reach out, /gen, I know you said your dms weren’t working
I try my best to do research on the things I am unfamiliar with, but for the most part, I tend to write about things I have personally experienced :)

Hi this is the recent anon you posted who responded to your opinion on the reactions to the misgendering of Casey. I’m relieved that my asks was interpreted the right way and thanks for responding so quickly and respectfully! I really appreciate it. I hope I didn’t come off as defensive or preach-y, I just wanted to share my opinion. I really like your blog because it feels like a safe place to bring up something like that and start open conversations which is always a good thing. But I agree that the hatred for Taylor about the misgendering when he didn’t even do the misgendering (and any other hatred outside of that) is absolutely unnecessary and awful. It’s so constant I’m glad that Taylor isn’t ‘on’ twitter. Every video we see of him makes me smile because he’s so sweet and sunshine-like. He comes across as very smart and we can see that he cares genuinely about the impact and importance of representation in media. He takes it very seriously which I appreciate and admire about him. He also is passionate about a lot of things like sustainability as well. He truly is beautiful inside and out. He’s a good person, so genuinely good that it bothers me that so many people see that and want to tear him down and chip away at all of that. And for what, right? Why are these people hating on a man that they don’t know online and will probably never know. We can all come to the same conclusions why these people are doing this but no matter why, it’s uncalled for and they should stop. We need to ignore them and block them and keep it moving as we are and continue spreading positivity and support. It’s feels so much better to uplift people than to tear them down. You and other similar blogs uplift people by reading fanfic, reblogging art, and having positive and funny conversations so keep being you and thank you again for responding in an understanding way to my other ask ❤️
Hi! Thank YOU for sharing your opinions respectfully and educating me. I really appreciate it. Actually, I wish conversations were more like this instead of the constant arguing and yelling. This is what a discussion and exchange of opinion should be like.
I'm also glad I didn't misinterpret your message and that my blog an be a safe space. I try to be as respectful and open to thoughts as possible, and the only thing I will truly berate and turn against is anything asked or done with the potential to stir up drama, or pure hate.
Taylor just seems like a wonderful, kind, genuine guy, and it's really painful to see haters attack him like that. I wish they would stop, but again, that's not something in our control. In the meantime I'll continue to share love and appreciate for Taylor, Nick and RWRB (and everyone involved) here :D ❣️

Kinn Yearns For Nice
Kinn likes nice. His type is nice. His type of guy is nice. Growing up in a remorseless, darkened world, Kinn craves and loves the thing that can hardly be found, if ever at all. He craves nice in a world full of belligerence and disaster.
Kinn wanted to earn his way to the top in that music competition, but dropped out because he knew that his father must have given the judges a ton of money so that he would win. Kinn saw the potential in the others during that competition and he knew that his father must have had something to do with him winning first place. So, instead of playing the role of a spoilt entitled prince and continuing his dream which he could have done, Kinn willingly chose to give up his dream of being a singer in that competition.
If Kinn is going to win, and I think this goes for literally anything that he chooses to do in life (or the things he’ll choose to do), he’ll win with amour propre and justifiable honour. He’ll make sure that his hard work pays off the way it should. He wanted to earn that title as winner, he didn’t want it to just be handed to him.
Kinn wants to earn Porsche.
I don’t mean earn him as in ownership. I mean that he wants to earn all the things that Porsche will willingly give him. Kinn is a proud, confident man (and we all stan a confident gay), but he knows that when something magnificent is granted to someone, they only deserve it when they’ve rightfully and truthfully earned it.
Kinn wants to earn Porsche’s trust. He wants to earn Porsche’s honest, most truest smiles. He wants to earn Porsche’s laughter. He wants to earn the endearment in Porsche’s eyes that comes from genuine attraction and affection. He wants to earn Porsche’s attention but only when Porsche wants to give it as well as when he wants to receive attention in return. Kinn yearns for nice, he longs for it because in his world, he is surrounded by bloodshed and murder and crime. In this world he has called his life, he lives in the shadows because that’s what he knows, it’s where he has grown up and it’s where his home is.
Kinn wants to earn the right to bathe in the new light that Porsche unconsciously gives; he wants to earn the right to say that he was the reason that Porsche is smiling so brightly and truthfully, he wants to earn the right to say he was the reason that Porsche is laughing his deepest and most zealous laughs. Kinn wants to earn the right to find and accept love again in a world that is filled with demons of all different kinds, hiding around most corners he comes across. And Kinn wants to earn that love from Porsche in all its forms and mannerisms.
Kinn wants to earn the right to become equal with Porsche, earning the right to say that they are equals and partners on every single level. He wants to earn the moment Porsche acknowledges him as his equal too. And he wants to earn that right, respectfully and honourably.
Kinn’s type is nice. Porsche is nice. Porsche is SO damn nice in so many ways; he’s caring, he’s loving, he’s nurturing, he’s attentive, he’s amusing, he’s honest and Porsche is most likely the one person who is the most genuine with Kinn. Kinn chose to let Porsche go because he couldn’t bare the thought of Porsche’s light being diminished once he truly stepped into Kinn’s shadows.
Kinn has enough amour propre in himself to show Porsche the respect that he rightfully deserves. When Kinn punished Porsche on Papa Korn’s instruction, Kinn was highly conflicted and was doubting himself more than he even realised until Pete brought it up to him and told him straight to his face that Porsche seemed heartbroken. It’s why it plagued Kinn’s mind so much when he couldn’t stop thinking of Porsche and he couldn’t figure out the reason why. The realisation in that fact had Kinn recklessly running to put it right with Porsche. Porsche deserves to be treated fairly and respectfully and Kinn knew that he hadn’t done right by Porsche. But, I absofuckinglutely loved that he wasn’t too damn proud to admit that he was in the wrong and went as fast as he could, without hesitation or resistance (or back up, because Porsche to Kinn is more important than life itself), to put it right. He went to admit that he was wrong, that he was cruel to Porsche and that his actions towards him were barbaric. Kinn treated Porsche the opposite of what Kinn actually looks for and craves in life. Kinn realised that if he wants to be seen as an equal in Porsche’s eyes, not just as his boss, then he would need to show Porsche that he can actually be what he wishes for himself; Kinn needed to show Porsche that he can also be meaningfully nice in all its aspects.
Kinn gained a taste of the purest form of nice, a taste of something that he has longed for, wished for, perhaps even dreamed of, and knew that it was too precious for the darkened world he calls home. Kinn didn’t want to and damn did he hate the idea of letting go of someone that made him actually feel like he could be his truest self without the rules, without the schedules, without constant overwatch of his bodyguards restricting his freedom. Kinn longs for nice but he wanted something else even more, he found something that he realised was worth more to him than his own wish for nice in his callous world.
He wished for Porsche’s happiness.
Kinn fell in love with the laughter that Porsche projected. He fell in love with the smiles that could literally brighten his days, and that Porsche’s smiles could make him smile just as bright in return. He fell in love with that fact that Porsche was so quick to sacrifice his own hand in order for them to find a way to escape. Kinn wished for Porsche’s happiness to exist outside of his shadows, he wished for Porsche to go and be with his brother, something that Kinn himself doesn’t have the luxury of having with his own younger brother. And so he sent him away.
But, when Porsche returned not even a minute later of walking away in order to save Kinn’s life, Kinn latched onto that quicker than he himself could keep up with. He fell right back into his wish for that love, that feeling of having that wish of nice being brought back to life and instinctively ran to protect Porsche from being shot. I think I speak for all of us when I say that Kinn would literally take every single bullet if they were aimed at Porsche, and he would never regret the pain.
And, as I’ve now seen the Side Story, I can these smiles that Kinn and Porsche share:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The purity in these smiles just prove that these two have found something in each other that they have both yearned for for so damn long.
And then this:
Tumblr media
They’ve both found the comfort, the warmth, the nice that I think they both have been looking for, not just Kinn but Porsche as well. And yes, I know that they will have a lot of hurdles that they will come across but this is what I’m seeing now and what I’ve seen so far is so fucking beautiful.
