So Amir has never had a corn dog?? Prepare for Bambi to make it his and Mori's mission to introduce Amir to corn dogs. Or even better, Sonora Dogs
okay as someone who lives in the greater phoenix area Sonora Dogs MUST be given to the fancy succubus. they'd be a Revelation. Amir's not a picky eater (though if he's with a client he's not that fond of he will insist on the most expensive Everything) but with the MC he's willing to try almost anything. He's gonna turn around and be like "can you believe the met gala doesn't have Sonora Dogs" at his next big social event.

Things I've Learned By Living in the South (from Florida to Texas)
1. Save all bacon grease.
You will be instructed later how to use it.
2. If you do run your car into a ditch, don't panic.
Four men in the cab of a four wheel drive truck with a 12-pack of beer and a tow chain will be along shortly.
Don't try to help them.
Just stay out of their way.
This is what they live for.
3. Remember: "Y'all" is singular.
"All y'all" is plural.
"All y'all's" is plural possessive.
4. Get used to the phrase "It's not the heat, it's the humidity".
And the collateral phrase "You call this hot?
Wait'll August."
5. Don't tell us how you did it up there.
Nobody cares.
6. If you think it's too hot, don't worry.
It'll cool down-in December.
7. A Mercedes-Benz is not a status symbol. A Jeep, Chevy, Dodge, or Ford is.
8. If someone says they're "fixin" to do something, that doesn't mean anything's broken.
9. The value of a parking space is not determined by the distance to the door, but the availability of shade.
10. If you see a slower moving vehicle on a two lane road pull onto the shoulder, that is called "courtesy".
11. BBQ is a food group.
It does NOT mean grilling burgers and hot dogs outdoors.
12. Yes, weddings, funerals, and divorces must take into account for Gators, Canes or Noles Football games.
13. Everything is better with ranch dressing.
14. DO NOT honk your horn at us to be obnoxious, we will sit there until we die.
15. We pull over and stop for emergency vehicles to pass.
16. We pull over for funeral processions, turn our music off and men remove hats or caps.
Some people put their hand over their heart.
17. "Bless your Heart" is a nice way of saying you're an idiot.
18. No matter what kind: sprite, coke, pepsi, mtn dew, it isn't called soda or pop.
Its all called coke
19. If you don't like the weather in Florida, wait 15 minutes, it will change.
20. No, most of us won't call the law if you break into our home. We'll call the county coroner and only tell our cousin at the police department when he comes over for Bean Night.
21. A Walmart in your town is a luxury, most of us do grocery shopping at the Dollar General.
22. Buccee's is not a gas station, it's an experience.

Your fav OP Hotties reaction to when their S/O’s fav food is the OP Hotties least fav/hated food
So I know that Oda has already given their favorite and least favorite food but I'll try and elaborate based on my opinion of them and western and eastern cuisines.
Kizaru✨
He likes tempura quite a bit even though it's not food for anyone's health really but he does enjoy it from time to time. Especially if its shrimp! Have this prepared for him and he will tell you all the naughty secrets of the marines. He dislikes anything too spicy but sometimes he tries Akainu's cooking and then he's in pain for a couple of hours later. So when he finds out his S/O likes spicy food, he doesn't mind at all and would usually go to a restaurant where both of them could enjoy their favorite meals.
Akainu🌋
He has a sweet tooth and tends to always have something sweet after his lunch as he can over indulge at times. His favourite dessert is an speculaas tart with almond filling which was introduced to him when he was travelling as a young marine, its not too sweet but it just hits the spot for him. If you ever want to calm him down and make him happy, bring him a large tart and he won't burn you. He dislikes durians and can't get over the smell, it's too much for him. He would lecture his S/O about only eating the fruit outside of the house because of the smell and to brush their teeth immediately after.
Ryokugyu🌱
He loves good Southern spicy fried chicken with gravy and mashed potatoes. This is something he would eat when he breaks his fast and he's gonna eat all he can! He dislikes chocolate muffins, they make his teeth ache. He would lecture his S/O about how much sugar is in the muffin and how bad that is for their body.
Sir Crocodile 🐊
He loves creamy chicken Italiano and eats this on a weekly basis out of his regular diet. He enjoys pasta from time to time but is pretty strict with his health and does not indulge too much. He dislikes any dish that has a tomato based sauce despite liking tomatoes, it gives him heart burn. He wouldn't really mind his S/O eating it as long as he doesn't have to eat it.
Doflamingo Donquixote🦩
He likes all kinds of seafood and enjoys having fresh oysters for breakfast every morning with a bit of hot sauce and freshly squeezed lemon juice. He never truly feels awake until he has his oysters. He dislikes fried chicken as he thinks it's way too heavy for him, he likes to keep his sexy body all year long. He would tell his S/O that it's not healthy for the body and that they should find alternative healthier options.
Benn Beckman🔫
He enjoys sushi and sashimi. He usually goes somewhere he could enjoy a meal by himself as there was a time where he didn't know how to eat wasabi and almost saw Kami-San. Shanks never let this down so he now just goes alone. He dislikes coffee ice cream and thinks it's an abomination. He would watch his S/O with a frown before commenting that it looks like baby's poop just to piss his S/O off.
Katakuri Charlotte🍡
He loves having barbecues with his brothers and sisters and of course he's the one in charge at the grill. He makes burgers, hot dogs and lots racks of ribs which he marinates by himself. He could eat barbecued meat forever and be content. He dislikes matcha flavoured desserts, he thinks they're gross. He would cringe as he watched his S/O eat but wouldn't comment or anything like that.
Killer🔪
He enjoys a full Scottish breakfast with eggs, bacon, baked beans, black pudding, scones, tomatoes, mushrooms and haggis all with a nice cup of tea. Usually after eating all of this, he goes into a food coma but he's happy as ever. He dislikes any kind of cheese, he's lactose intolerant. He would make gagging sound when his S/O eats it and would say they have cheese breath.
Kaido🐉
He likes a good helping of tonkatsu with rice and curry as well as an omelet over it. It is his comfort food and he could eat it several times a week. He dislikes edamame and if anyone serves him this would never hear the end of it. He would glare at his S/O and tell them to eat it somewhere else because it smells terrible.
King👑
He really loves eating crabs, especially crab legs. He usually has it with a spicy sauce and rice. When ever Queen wants him to approve something, he treats him with several kilograms of crab legs and he gets the approval he needs. He dislikes cheesy sauces, he thinks its gross on seafood and just doesn't generally like it. He would look at his S/O in disapproval but wouldn't say anything in case he got them mad for something they liked.
Queen 👑
He loves eating roasted pork belly with all the condiments he can have. He doesn't really care much about his health so he tends to eat large amounts of it all the time. He dislikes fruity desserts, he doesn't like fruits in general. He would laugh and say things like, 'you don't need to watch what you eat, love! You're perfect!'.

When I’m feeling depressed, it can be nearly impossible to take care of myself, and that includes eating. Here’s a list of some foods that require little to no effort (aka: can be eaten right out of the package or just need to be microwaved), mainly for my personal reference, but also so others can find easier alternatives when they’re struggling.
Water bottles or canned water - stay hydrated!!
vegetables - green beans, peas, corn, black/kidney/pinto beans, chickpeas (all canned or microwaveable frozen bags) - I’ve also tried Harvest Snaps, which are baked snap peas & they’re v good
Fruit - grapes, raisins (or any other dried fruit like apricots/dates), mandarin oranges, apples, applesauce cups, bananas, pears, peaches, etc. (most fruits require no prep anyway, but especially if they’re canned - you can also buy frozen bags)
Canned soup or chicken, beef, or veggie broth
Pasta (ramen, spaghetti, mac and cheese, chow mein) or instant rice are my go-tos. You can buy these in individual cups or bulk packs.
Any microwaveable food - frozen/tv dinners, burritos, toaster strudels (they make an egg bacon & cheese version too!), mini pizzas, breakfast sandwiches… there’s a lot you could do here :)
Dairy - Yogurt, cheese sticks, (or just straight up eat cheese slices, there are no rules here), cottage cheese, almond/oat/soy milk, powdered milk (if you want something shelf-stable)
Grains & carbs - cereal, crackers, chips, popcorn, toast or bagels (I’ve eaten plain bread before tbh and it kinda slaps), Oatmeal (these packets are dinosaur themed & have little sugar eggs!! - https://www.quakeroats.com/products/hot-cereals/instant-oatmeal/dinosaur-eggs)
Nuts - peanuts, peanut butter, almonds, cashews, walnuts, trail mix, etc.
Meat - deli turkey, trail bologna, spam, jerky, frozen chicken strips or nuggets, Morningstar vegetarian corn dogs, canned tuna
Eggs
Fast food or take-out is also a good option if you don’t feel like making anything yourself.
A little tip - most foods you would take on a camping or hiking trip are great! for some, all you need to do is add water & heat it up. they are usually on the expensive side, though!! here’s some I’ve found that are decent:
https://mountainhouse.com/
Things to keep on hand for particularly bad days:
Boost/ensure/Soylent - liquid meals for when the idea of chewing or mixing anything is too much.
disposable cutlery/bowls/utensils so you don’t have more dishes to worry about.
Multivitamins
Liquid IV, Gatorade, or some other form of electrolytes. It’s too easy to get dehydrated!
If you do have a little energy to cook or make something, here’s some ideas:
If you have a blender: frozen spinach + frozen banana + shelf stable almond milk + peanut butter makes a great smoothie.
frozen fruit + frozen spinach/kale for smoothies
Adding whey protein makes it more filling.
dried pasta + jarred pasta sauce (Rao’s is low sugar and awesome, but pricey) + frozen meatballs
Boil tortellini on hand. Its as easy as boiling water. You can eat it plain, add a spoonful of pesto, sprinkle with a little olive oil or butter and some garlic salt, or pour it back in the pan after draining and add a little pasta sauce
frozen fried rice + frozen stir fry veggies
favorite frozen protein and veggies for sheet pan meals
canned refried beans with a tortilla and some cheese to microwave, can add extra toppings too
oatmeal + pb + dried fruit of choice
rice cakes + pb + jam (or substitute bread if you have it)
Rotisserie chicken in a salad, soup, sandwich or wrap
Frozen salmon with some veggies
air fryer foods - chicken nuggets, tenders, fries, etc. You can also toss different vegetables (baby carrots, Brussels sprouts, etc.) in a little olive oil and throw them in there
chicken broth & frozen dumplings - you can dress it up a little with some miso, soy sauce or other seasonings. You could also add some frozen vegetables.
snack type food - a combination of canned Garbanzo beans and black olives. The olives are salty enough that you can get low sodium beans and it will still taste good.
A lot of these ideas I stole from the good people of Reddit (particularly r/depressionmeals)!Here’s the post I referenced if you’d like to look further into it:

What You Can Eat on a Vegetarian Diet
There are plenty of food choices for vegetarians and vegans to enjoy. There are also hundreds of vegetarian recipe books and thousands of recipes online from a wide variety of cultures and countries so you need never get bored.
Vegetarians and Vegans Enjoy:
Tofu, tempeh, and other soy proteins that mimic meat and poultry and can be used as substitutes for such in various recipes.
Beans and lentils.
Seeds and nuts.
All vegetables and fruits.
Whole grains, including bread, cereals, rice and pasta.
Oils from plant seeds, like olive, safflower, canola, soybean, corn and grapeseed.
Dairy for those who choose to include it, including eggs, milk, yogurt and cheese.
There are also many vegetarian soy products, like hot dogs, bacon, sausage, veggie burgers, and chicken nuggets. The many great choices of meat substitutes can still allow you to enjoy your favourite dishes.
Baked goods in moderation.
Using Tofu, Seitan, TVP and Tempeh as Meat Substitutes in Vegetarian Diets
One of the big challenges in those people who want to eat a vegetarian diet is getting enough protein. In regular diets, meat provides a great deal of the protein we get as part of the daily diet, something not available in a vegetarian diet.
Beans provide some protein as well as things like tofu, seitan, textured vegetable protein, and tempeh. What are these unusual forms of protein and where do they come from?
What are these protein sources?
Tofu - This is also called bean curd. It is created by the coagulation of soy milk. Then the coagulated soy milk is pressed into curds that look like blocks of white soft cheese. Tofu can be baked, fried, or grilled.
Textured vegetable protein or TVP - This is a protein source made by taking the fat out of soy flour and used to extend or replace meat in various recipes. It contains more protein per pound that most meats.
Seitan - This is often referred to as mock duck or wheat meat. It is made from washing all the starch out of wheat flour so that you are left with a substance that is brown in colour, resembles and is chewy like meat. It can be baked, grilled, or fried in a pan. It cannot be used for anyone with a gluten allergy.
Tempeh - This is a soy product, which is made by taking cooked soybeans and fermenting them. Unlike Tofu, it has a firm, yet chewy texture, which is softer and squishier. Its nutty flavour makes it a good choice when stir-fried, breaded, grilled, or baked.
These food sources are beneficial as protein sources in the vegetarian diet. All of them are relatively bland to eat until you infuse them through the marinating or cooking process with the flavors of various sauces. One of the reasons these plant proteins work so well in various dishes is they absorb flavors that are added during the cooking process very well.

They tend to be lower in calories than meat sources of protein and are much lower in saturated fat when compared to meat.

How are these products used?
These non-meat food substitutes can be used in a variety of ways. For example, tofu, tempeh, and seitan can be used chopped into cubes and stir-fried with vegetables, along with seasoning that are absorbed and taken on as flavouring for the vegetarian substitute.
Textured vegetable protein is crumbly and can be used as a hamburger substitute or as an extender for meat in casseroles or stir-fried with vegetables.
Tempeh and seitan can be cooked in slabs on the grill, especially when marinated with sauces and spices that infuse flavour. Barbecue-flavoured and teriyaki-flavoured seitan and tempeh are available to be used on the grill to mimic steaks.
Seitan has the consistency of chicken so it can be cut up and used in any recipe that calls for chopped chicken, such as stir-fry, fajitas, and casseroles.
Health Benefits
These products are high in protein but low in fat, making them good foods for diabetics and vegetarians who need low calorie, low fat options to replace meat.
They contain soy or wheat alternatives to meat and are high in phyto-oestrogens and other nutrients found in vegetarian foods.
They contain no saturated fat, which makes them low in cholesterol and other fats that can clog your arteries and cause heart attacks or strokes.
They can be used to replace meat and contain as much protein as meat and sometimes more. When cooked with vegetables, these products help meals to be well balanced in both carbohydrates and protein.

How to Prolong Life Expectancy
Tumblr media
If you want to extend your lifespan, there are numerous things you can do. Some are easy and fun, while others require additional effort.
Studies have demonstrated that having regular sexual encounters increases your odds of living longer - so why not give it a go?
Exercise regularly
Regular exercise offers many health advantages, from decreasing disease risks to improving mood and decreasing stress, and even increasing energy levels.
New research shows that normal-weight individuals who engage in moderate physical activity - such as brisk walking - for 150 minutes each week on average live about seven and a half years longer than obese people who do no activity whatsoever (the study spanned 30 years and involved over 116,000 adults).
Researchers conducted analysis on data from the Copenhagen City Heart Study, an ongoing effort that has monitored exercise patterns among thousands of Danes since 1970. Participants reported their leisure-time activities multiple times over its duration, providing researchers with invaluable information about health behaviors in Denmark.
According to a PLOS Medicine study, those who engage in multiple forms of sports or exercise - from cycling and tennis to jogging and swimming - had more years left in life than those engaging in less activity.
However, it's important to keep in mind that recommended levels of weekly physical activity don't guarantee longevity. According to the American Heart Association's recommendations of 150 to 300 minutes of moderate physical activity and 75-150 minutes of vigorous physical activity for Americans each week respectively; exercising regularly beyond this recommendation could prolong life.
Eat a healthy diet
Eating healthily can extend your lifespan. Eating well will protect you against chronic conditions like diabetes and cardiovascular disease while helping you to keep a healthy weight and lower cancer risks.
Eat a well-rounded diet full of fresh produce, fruits, whole grains and lean proteins; avoid food that contains high quantities of salt and sugar.
Include low-fat sources of protein such as beans, fish, poultry without skin and unsalted nuts as sources. Choose fat-free or low-fat milk products while cutting back on red meat consumption.
Avoid or limit processed meats (hot dogs, burgers, bacon) white rice and white bread products in favor of whole grain alternatives like brown or multigrain breads and cereals.
Study data showed that switching from a Western diet to one which promotes longevity could extend lifespan by nearly two years. Such diet would include more legumes, whole grains and nuts while decreasing red and processed meat consumption.
Get plenty of sleep
Restful sleep is integral to living a healthy life. Sleep helps the body repair itself, making you more resistant to diseases and illnesses.
Sleep can increase energy levels and cognitive functioning. Aim to get at least seven hours each night - or more if necessary!
Researchers conducted a large-scale analysis that demonstrated how having an uninterrupted sleep routine with high quality can extend life expectancy by years. Their investigation focused on 172,321 adults across the US and assessed whether their habits contributed to an increased death rate as calculated by the National Death Index.
They found that individuals who adopted five sound sleeping habits - falling asleep easily, staying asleep through the night, getting seven to eight hours of restful restorative zzz's each night, waking up feeling rejuvenated in the morning and foregoing sleep medications - had a significantly longer life expectancy; men by an estimated 4.7 years and women 2.4.
To help ensure a good night of restful restful sleeping, keep your bedroom dark and quiet, avoiding watching television or looking at phone screens for at least an hour prior to bedtime. Exercise can also be an excellent way to relieve tension.
Don’t smoke
Stopping smoking is one of the best ways to extend your lifespan and can have an enormous impact on our health, increasing risks for numerous diseases like heart disease, stroke and cancer.
Heavy smokers (those who smoke more than 20 cigarettes per day) typically lose 13 years compared to non-smokers; moderate and light smokers experience shorter lifespans as a result of smoking.
After quitting smoking, carbon monoxide levels in your blood will return to normal and both heart rate and blood pressure should decrease significantly. You are also likely to notice less coughing and shortness of breath as your lungs recover from years of smoking damage.
Your risk of lung, throat and bladder cancer will decrease over the coming five years as your arteries widen again. In addition, there will be less chance that stroke will strike as your arteries widen more readily than they did previously.
Making the commitment to stop smoking may be challenging, but will ultimately pay dividends. When feeling the urge to smoke, try taking a deep breath and exhaling slowly or trying meditation as a way of decreasing baseline stress levels that can trigger cravings for tobacco products.
Maintain a healthy weight
Maintaining a healthy weight can help protect against chronic health conditions like heart disease and cancer, boost energy levels and help you feel more energetic throughout the day.
Maintaining a healthy weight is a lifelong journey that should include regular weigh-ins and tracking your progress. Consult a doctor on safe ways to lose or gain weight and achieve your ideal body shape.
Ideal BMI range for healthy weight is 21-25; use the CDC body mass index calculator to ascertain this number and reach optimal health.
Researchers found that maintaining a healthy weight through adulthood could add over 10 years to one's life expectancy; it was an especially strong predictor of longevity among both women and men.
Diets rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, low-fat dairy and lean proteins are an effective way to promote weight management while simultaneously helping lower risk factors for chronic diseases, such as high blood pressure and diabetes. A recent study suggests that those who consume more fruit and vegetables have lower risks of mortality from cardiovascular disease and cancer.
Communicate with your partner
Communication is at the core of every healthy relationship. By communicating effectively, couples can avoid miscommunication that leads to hurt feelings, anger or resentment between themselves and avoid conflicts arising due to misinterpretations of what was said or meant.
Good communication builds trust and respect between partners by enabling each one to share their thoughts, concerns and goals freely with one another.
Effective communication skills can be learned over time, so practicing them together is worth doing. Partners should begin by exploring their own communication styles to see which works best.
Active listening is another critical element of effective communication, and should be practiced without judgment or assumptions as to its meaning. It can be particularly helpful when discussing sensitive subjects like health care or financial matters.
An active listener demonstrates their desire to comprehend their partner's point of view and find solutions together for issues.
Communicating through this mode may be challenging, but it is critical that your partner knows that you are listening and respecting their feelings. Use nonverbal cues like open body language or eye contact to show that you're engaged with the conversation.
Have regular sex
Though most understand the importance of maintaining good health, many underestimate how regular sex can also extend lifespan. Studies show that men and women who engage in regular sex tend to outlive those who do not.
Not only can regular sex with 비아그라 알약 용량 extend your lifespan, it may also improve your immune system. Wilkes University in Pennsylvania conducted a study that revealed people who experienced two weekly sexual acts had higher levels of immunoglobulin A - an antimicrobial protein produced by their bodies that helps fight infection and colds.
Massage also releases endorphins and oxytocin, two hormones which can help you feel more relaxed. The hormones help manage stress better while decreasing depression risk.
Preeclampsia, which causes high blood pressure and organ dysfunction during gestation, has been found to decrease among women who practice oral sex before conception compared with those who don't; studies have revealed this risk being lower among these women.

Day 1 - May ‘22 challenge
9th May 2022
I can’t believe I’m doing another one of these so soon after my last cleanse BUT I have been naughty recently, I am unfit, I still have a long way to go with my end-goal target weight, Kevin left for sea again today so why not? I won’t do a full-on, pics every day, in-depth writing kind of blog for 28-days as that’s quite intense and requires some stimulation for subject inspiration so I’ll keep it simple.
Last night I handed him the last of the crispy M&Ms and he offered me a few. I said no, I genuinely didn’t want them. “It’s a choice” I said, and it is. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – it’s mindset, not willpower. Every challenge shows me something different about my mindset. Every challenge has its ups and downs. Every challenge ends in me craving Morrison’s own pitta bread! Maybe one day that’ll change? Maybe not, who knows. I would love to never crave carbs again, but I know why I do – because my body needs it. We need complex carbs to live. We need protein to live. We need essential fats to live. We need fruit & veg to live. We need water to live.
This morning was a challenge, simply because while making the most amazing roast dinner yesterday – oh my goodness, it seriously was the tastiest I’d had in a while! Venison injected with bacon fat & a sensational homemade rub by Kev & smoked on the BBQ, yorkies, dauphinoise potatoes, honey-glazed carrots using the last of the local raw honey our friend produces & fine beans, sugar snap peas & baby corn cooked in garlic butter with smoked sea salt. I’m salivating just thinking about it again. However, while making the dauphinoise, I sliced my finger on the mandolin and I’ve been in pain ever since. Using a knife is difficult and makes me think about how grateful I am that I have 5 fingers as it’s tough to balance and get a grip. I know people adapt but it certainly wasn’t easy cutting pineapple or apples, as quickly as I normally do.
Today’s green machine juice (it’ll do part of tomorrow too) 10 apples 8 celery sticks 6 asparagus spears Whole bag spinach (250g) Half bag Kale (c.90g) 1 Pineapple 1 Lime 1 Courgette ¾ cucumber Blended with 1 avocado
I had a massage booked (rescheduled from last week) in town @ 10 so I had to get up early to get Kevin his final cup of delicious tea made by me (I’m the tea queen, despite not being a tea-drinker myself), juice my day’s food, get ready and out the door by 9.15am. I managed it and was actually early for a change. I suppose I wasn’t really “getting ready” as I wasn’t putting on a full face of make up or doing my hair because I’d be having a shower when I came back as I usually ended up with oils in my hair and of course on my back, which I wouldn’t want to get all over my nice popsy dresses – I just wear clothes I don’t like anymore.
It was bliss, especially after being at the peats on Saturday. I had a sore back and shoulders after the throwing (yes I’m unfit!) and she found tons of knots in my muscles today, so it was such a great release when she got them out. However, I was driving Kevin’s classic Audi (Daisy) as mine was having its service and the heater is disconnected just now so it was torturous driving in the cold wind & rain in Daisy. By the time I got home, I decided against a shower as I needed a long hot soak in a bath instead! I’d wear my hair up today, no biggie!
So now, Kevin is nearly in Aberdeen to join his ship, I’ve finished work for the day, the dogs in a huff because “I made Dadaidh leave again” 🤦🏻‍♀️ and the house is just quiet and empty because the love of my life has left me for 5wks again – juicy time!!! 😂 I can’t juice properly when he’s here. I have all the best intentions and I did have quite a lot of juice leftover in the freezer, so I drank all of that during his last leave, but he just kept leaving stuff all over the kitchen table and that’s where I need space to do my juicing, that’s where all the equipment sits. Och, I’m making excuses and he’ll call me out on blaming him, but it basically comes down to mindset again. He’s eating food, I’m seeing food around and it makes me want food! Simples! Most of it would be fine, he cooks good healthy food, but I get tempted by the Irn Bru pastilles and Tunnocks Caramel wafers and it gives me bad ideas. I’m influenced, I know I am. I’m not perfect by any stretch of the imagination and I am just human. We want what we shouldn’t have. It’s been happening since the Garden of Eden. It’s no excuse but it’s proof that we can be tempted and fail. But we get back up again. We try again. We keep going. I am so focused when he’s not here as I have no temptations surrounding me. Only fruit & veg is left in the fridge, he cleaned out the last of the food today and Holly got a big plate of treats too – spoilt doggy!
I have felt a little tired today and I do feel a bit hungry, but I know I’m just adjusting to toxins leaving my system. I’ve passed loads of water today and that’s one of the reasons why I didn’t end up finishing my juice, because I was on the road many times today and teaching in people’s homes and the last thing I wanted was to be running to the loo every 20mins, which I can do at home easily or even teaching in town. I’m very aware that I haven’t had any separate water although there’s water in the veg of course and I don’t think I had any tea this morning. I’ll have to have a spearmint tea tonight and also some plain water. I will need to juice in the morning, even though I have left over from today, so the best idea is to get up at a similar time and juice straight away. That way I wake up with my ginger shot and the productivity begins. I’m not technically working until the afternoon but I do have quite a sizeable to-do list relating to work so I should just get on with it.
Time for bed! Day 1 over.

Prompt:  I only came to this coffee shop bookstore cause I was thirsty and it was nearby, and I saw you reading and drinking at one of the tables and kept coming back.
The first time he saw her, he almost walked into a street cart. She was sitting in the window of the small coffee shop, glasses perched on the edge of her nose. Hair high on her head in a messy bun, her nose buried in a book about the life of Vincent Van Gogh. She was beautiful. The large cup in front of her long-abandoned with the tip of a teabag hanging over the edge. The plate and fork empty save for the crumbs. Marcus turned to the vendor to apologize, and when he quickly turns to see her, she was gone.
The second time he goes to the coffee shop because he’s thirsty and running late to work. There’s also a small part of him that hopes the beautiful woman will be there again in the window. When he enters the shop, he inhales the scent of coffee beans and sweet pastries. Ordering a black coffee with room for cream and a maple bacon scone, he takes his purchases and heads towards the door.
His steps falter as he sees her, the woman from the week before. She’s talking to a homeless man on the corner outside, giving him a bottle of water, a bright green apple, and a sandwich. His heart beats double-time as he keeps his eyes on her. Her smile rivaled the sunshine on a Summer day in D.C.
Marcus opens the door and steps closer, a bus passing before him, and when he looks for her again, she’s gone. He looks left and right, but she’s nowhere to be seen, and he’s left wondering about his mystery girl all over again.
For the next few weeks, he visits the coffee shop every couple of days ordering a coffee, and some new delight waiting for her to appear. He knows that there are better things he should be doing; finally unpacking his apartment, the mountain of paperwork at the office. Still, he can’t stop thinking about the mystery woman. But today is the last day. If she doesn’t show, then it wasn’t meant to be. The chair across from him pulls out, and he looks up startled.
“Have you been waiting long?” his mystery woman sits down across from him and removes her coat. “Did you order already?” she looks at him with a small smile.
“What? I’m sorry, do we know each other?” his heart pounds as her face lights up in a giggle—a blush making its way onto his cheeks.
“No, but I saw you watching me from the window a few weeks ago. I think you crashed into a hot dog stand?” He nods, his cheeks burning, “then I’ve seen you a few times over the last few weeks. You’re always leaving as I’m coming. You look around like you’ve lost something that you’re desperately trying to find. So I thought, why not be me?” Her green eyes gleam, and he finds himself getting lost in the emerald orbs.
“What’s your name?” he asks breathlessly.
“Liberty Franklin,” her laugh is melodic as she smiles, “Kind of silly, but my dad had a thing for American history. What’s yours?”
“Marcus Pike.”
“And what do you do, Marcus Pike?” A waiter comes by with a large cup of earl grey tea and sits it before her, smiling. She thanks them, and they walk off.
“I’m an FBI agent in the art department. I work on recovering stolen art and returning it to its rightful place.”
Her eyes light up excited, “So you’re like a modern-day Indiana Jones? Going out on missions and bringing back lost items to the museum?”
He laughs, “I’ve never thought about it like that, but yeah, I guess you could say that. I don’t think my life is nearly that exciting, though.”
“Do you like Indiana Jones, the movie?” He nods, and she takes a sip of her drink, smiling, “They have movies in the park during the Summer, and tonight is Raiders of the Lost Ark. Would you want to go out with me, Marcus Pike?”
“I would love that,” he smiles at her over the rim of his cup.
“Give me your phone,” she holds out her hand, and he slides the phone into it and watches as she types in her name Liberty with a bell emoji next to it. He laughs when he sees it. “You should do that more often,” she mumbles, and he looks up perplexed.
“Do what?”
“Smile. You’re really handsome when you smile, Marcus.” His smile could light up half of D.C., and he reaches out for her hand across the table.
“I think I might have finally found a reason too.”

Processed Meat: What You Need to Know About?
Processed meat is as American as baseball, a game where, incidentally, you'll usually find processed hot dogs draped in cheese sauce (also processed). "Processed red meat differs from fresh red meat in that it's been cured, salted, smoked, canned, or treated with preservatives," says Lisa Andrews, a registered dietitian and owner of Sound Bites Nutrition in Cincinnati.
Along with hot dogs, processed meat includes bacon, sausage, bologna, corned beef, salami, ham, and beef jerky. Yup, your beloved bacon is processed, and so is pepperoni and packaged deli meat. On the other hand, fresh beef or steak—or even fresh lamb—is not considered processed. "Ground beef and pork are not actually considered processed as long as they haven't been subjected to additives or alterations," says Andrea Goergen, a registered dietitian nutritionist and owner of Cultivate Healthy in Washington, D.C.
If you love burgers, you should know that they're not considered processed meat either. "Hamburger meat is not considered processed," says Lacey Dunn, a registered dietitian and author of The Women's Guide to Hormonal Harmony. "Though it has been altered from its original shape and form, it has not had additional preservatives or nitrates added to it."
Related: Is lamb considered red meat or white meat?
How processed meat is made
You might not want to know how some of your favourite processed meats are made. (Trust us, it gets gross.) Most hot dogs, for example, are made from mechanically separated meat. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), this is a "paste-like and batter-like meat product produced by forcing bones, with attached edible meat, under high pressure through a sieve or similar device to separate the bone from the edible meat tissue." Essentially, your hot dog is skeletal meat that is ground up to a fine texture and combined with salt and water so everything sticks together. Yum. What's more, processed meats often contain additives and chemicals that may contribute to chronic diseases like hypertension and type 2 diabetes, among others.
Nitrates, processed meat, and your health
Among the chemical preservatives often added to processed meats are nitrates and nitrites. But nitrates also occur naturally. This can be a bit confusing, so let's discuss.
"Nitrates are also found naturally in some vegetables such as arugula, cabbage, celery, kale, and spinach," says Andrews. "Vegetables are protective against cancer and should be encouraged in everyone's diets." As we digest our food, nitrates are converted into nitrites.
While naturally occurring nitrates aren't a cause for concern, nitrates and nitrites that are added to processed red meat are. "Nitrites are preservatives that produce potential cancer-causing compounds, particularly [for] colorectal cancers," says Goergen.
How much processed meat can you have?
The fact that the American Institute for Cancer Research has a recommendation to eat little, if any, processed red meat is a red flag on its own. But the guidelines also recommend limiting red meat intake—even if it hasn't been processed—to no more than three portions. That's a total of 12 to 18 ounces of cooked meat per week. "Less is best," advises Andrews. "Processed meats contain nitrates, which have been linked with several types of cancer, including esophageal, stomach, pancreatic, and colorectal cancers."
The more processed and unprocessed red meat you eat, the larger a health risk you may have. In a meta-analysis published in the British Journal of Nutrition, researchers found that people eating the highest amounts of processed meat had a 22 percent increased risk of death from any cause and an 18 percent increased risk of death from cardiovascular disease during the study. Unprocessed red meat intake was associated with a 16 percent increased risk of death from cardiovascular disease. Worth noting: there was no increased risk of death linked to intake of white meat, such as chicken.
How processed red meat can be harmful
In addition to containing preservatives like nitrates and nitrites, processed red meat is often cured with salt, making it high in sodium. "This is associated with hypertension, and consumption of processed red meat also has a link with diabetes," says Andrews, citing a 2019 study published in BMJ.
High-sodium foods are especially problematic for anyone with heart or kidney conditions, says Goergen. "For instance, three ounces of steak may have 48 milligrams of sodium, while three slices of bacon may have over 400 milligrams," she says. "If the general recommendation for sodium intake is 2,300 milligrams per day for people without cardiovascular or kidney conditions—it is far less in those cases—400 milligrams is 17 percent of your daily maximum recommended intake."
Another risk? A March study in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition suggests that processed red meat consumption could be a risk factor for dementia. "The retrospective study of over 490,000 adults found that intake of processed meats of more than five servings per week was linked with a 67 percent higher risk for dementia compared to those who ate these meats less than once a week," says Andrews.
Plus, processed red meat tends to be higher in calories, saturated fat, and cholesterol. "This can play a role in increasing body fat, blood pressure, and inflammation levels," says Dunn.
How to reduce your risk
Aim to have meals or even days without meat, whether that means going completely plant-based for those eating occasions or adding in proteins such as eggs, fish, chicken, and turkey. Also try plant proteins, such as beans, edamame, tofu, and even veggie burgers. "My personal favourite is a portobello mushroom black bean burger that is so tasty and filling, I don't even miss the beef," says Goergen. You can even blend edamame into your favourite smoothie or make a really delicious bean salad.
Health experts agree that processed red meat should be eaten in moderation, so try to limit it to rare occasions only. "The dose makes the poison, as does the overall quality of your diet and your lifestyle choices," says Dunn. "A hot dog or breakfast bacon meal here and there is not a large case for concern if your overall diet is healthy and filled with a variety of micronutrients and color."
Next, this is what you need to know about seitan, the two-ingredient faux-meat that's trending online.

We All Pay for Power
Even at sunset, the yellow fireball in the sky was scorching hot. Not a single waking soul around for miles, save for a dusty old pickup truck roaring down the lonesome road. Its driver and passenger traveled closer and closer towards an even dustier, even older tour bus. The unforgiving desert winds swept over them.
Layers of grit and grains of sand caked the windows of what looked like a steel whale, beached in the Nevada desert. Far away from the road, in a circle of cacti, resting in a place invisible to natural eyes.
But the truck’s driver knew how to find it. The wheels spun and screeched as she veered off the thin strip of cracked asphalt, cutting through the landscape of red sand, sparse vegetation, and rocky hills. The tires found traction and dug into the dirt, carrying the truck closer to the old abandoned bus.
With each inch the truck drove closer to the bus, the sky darkened. Defying nature’s laws. Devouring the sun before it even set in due time. The black void of a nightly sky opened up overhead, and the darkness between the stars loomed ever-darker in between the tiny lights.
Watchful, and hungry.
The driver cut the engine. The pickup truck continued rolling until she hit the brakes and rocks and dust ground underneath the wheels, stalling the machine till it lurched forward and fully stopped.
She was the first out of the vehicle, grabbing a sawed-off double-barreled shotgun and slamming the car door shut behind her—the noise echoing through this pocket of Otherworld, hidden away in the desert. Paying no mind to how the starry sky had appeared before sunset and the sun vanished. This was not Kim’s first time of crossing over into another dimension that looked similar to our own on the surface.
Unlike Javier, who hopped out of the car next, leaving the passenger seat open. He stared up at the sky in disbelief.
“The fuck?” he asked. Getting no answer.
Kim did not reply. She approached the dusty old tour bus with steady steps.
Javi’s gaze wandered, coming to rest on the cacti nearby. Their thorns took the shape of wicked little knives; crooked and jagged and sharp-edged. Their stalks twisted to elongated, thin shapes that did not belong on Earth.
“Hey, Kim, seriously. What the fuck?”
He got no answer from her. She held the shotgun in her hand and slowed down before she arrived by the tour bus’ open door. Something echoed through space and time, as if it had just burst open mere moments ago. But now, the door leading inside the bus swayed gently in the wind. The metal of its hinges creaked eerily.
A dark presence waited inside. Palpable. Watching. Born from the void between the stars, coalescing in the bowels of this steel giant, taking familiar shapes. Silver eyes that peered outwards, that Kim could not yet see, but eyes that saw her clearly before she entered. Piercing through matter, through the veil between worlds.
Having spotted something that vaguely resembled a vulture, Javi backed away from the truck and towards the bus, following Kim without looking where he went. The winged creature on the rocks glared at him and he broke out into a cold sweat as their eyes met and the thing’s stare locked onto him.
It crept closer, like a four-legged predator, crawling over the bend of the rock, stopping on its perch and flapping its leathery wings twice. It didn’t look too much like a vulture anymore, owed to many sharp teeth in its beak and the eight eyes on its unfathomably hairy face.
Kim raised her weapon and entered the bus, oblivious to Javi’s panicked breathing as he stumbled backwards and caught up to her. He had his hunting knife and revolver out, ready for the winged thing to pounce, but it just waited. And watched.
Like the entity inside.
They entered the bus, back to back.
Plastic clicked, and Kim swept her flashlight’s cone of illumination across the darkened interior of the abandoned bus. The leather on the seats had been chewed up by time and tiny teeth. Piles of trash littered the place all over, making it look like a hurricane had hit someone’s belongings and scattered them about.
Someone had pinned vast amounts of newspaper clippings to one wall. Everything from serious reporting to lousy tabloids had found its way here. Reports of two missing men, Brent Carver and Rick Sutton, members of the indie rock band The Lost Number. The only remaining person in the group was Kevin, whose mugshot adorned one of the cut-out articles.
Kim remembered the story from her research: how two of the three band members vanished mysteriously out here in the desert, how no bodies were ever found, and how the police eventually released Kevin into the wild where he started a new life.
The punchline of the articles continued on from there, following Kevin’s ensuing career trajectory. The flamboyant, cross-dressing bassist player of a dead-end rock band had transformed into a successful stage magician on the Strip with a cult following. A snippet from a Rolling Stone interview book-ended the assortment of notes.
In red color, someone had spray-painted over the tail end of this creepy collage:
BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR
Javi gasped when something cracked and he spun around. The plastic of a CD case broke underneath his boot; an autographed copy of the EP, Sexy Vampire in the Basement by The Lost Number. He stepped away from it, stumbling over empty cans of beans and bacon and other assorted canned food, kicking loose a brief cacophony of clattering and clanking.
Kim glared at Javi, silently imploring him to stop being so jumpy.
The wind outside picked up, resembling a coyote’s howl. But unlike a natural animal’s howl, it petered out into a ghastly screech. Something flapped its horrid wings to underline the ungodly origins.
From the darkness, deeper inside the bus, silver eyes stared out, watching the two new arrivals.
“Did he live here?” Javi asked. His voice trembled. So did he—his entire body.
Even if he couldn’t see the presence, he felt it.
Kim refused to answer. This was not a place to answer redundant questions.
“How can anybody live like this?”
Kim set her jaw, shining the flashlight down the narrow corridor of the bus into its deepest parts, where the silver eyes awaited them.
Finally, she answered, “Power always has a price. We all pay for it in our own ways. And this—this was his way.”
Someone cleared his throat and Kim pointed her gun in that direction. The darkness swallowed the cone of light, though a set of two eyes reflected it back as they blinked. A man in black sat there, in the bedroom at the end of the bus. Lounging on the beds, legs crossed, hands folded behind his head. Not a care in the world.
Bright white, clean teeth bared, a wide grin plastered across a face of handsome features. Chiseled, sharp jawline, symmetrical. A glint of the devil’s own confidence in his eyes.
“Can I help you?” he asked. Smooth voice—like smoke and velvet rolling over sanded stone.
Kim and Javi approached with careful paces, stepping over the trash heaps strewn about the floor. Both of them had their guns pointed at the stranger.
He budged not one bit, sitting like he belonged here. Garbed in black leather boots, dark jeans, and a crumpled old duster over a fancy black cowboy shirt with red patterns on it, this guy had the air of both a rich man and a vagrant.
“Are you Michael?” Kim asked him.
“No,” he lied. His smile widened. His steel blue eyes turned silver for a split second of the flashlight blinding him. He didn’t even blink this time. Lapped up the attention. Drank in their anxiety, thirsting for their fear.
Sprawled out in front of him was a circle of odd objects. Kim scanned over them with a quick glance, not quite registering what all of them meant or represented.
A circle of rice grains outlined the circle clearly, framed by a square of metal legs broken off a chair. In a pattern inside these shapes rested a tourist trap postcard from the Grand Canyon, a coyote’s skull, a tiny crucifix fastened to an old-timey alarm clock, a pill bottle of Alprazolam filled with black-painted fingernail clippings, a spiked dog collar, a folded piece of paper stuffed with a dark powder spilling out of the seams, and a pile of paperback novel covers glued together. Blue paint chippings covered the various objects.
“Please, let me know how I can help. Are you looking for Kevin?” asked Michael. “So am I. Perhaps we can help each other.”
“Don’t listen to him. He’s fuckin’ lyin’,” Javi said. He emphasized that by taking a threatening step towards Michael, but Kim elbowed him to stop him in his tracks.
“Stay outta the circle,” she growled at Javi.
Michael raised his hands, displaying his open empty palms. He brought his hands together and steepled his fingers like some sort of discount villain.
“You might as well put those lil’ peashooters away. Even if you manage to waste me, you gotta deal with Smokey out there,” Michael said, gesturing at the way they had come from.
The cawing shriek pierced the air, followed by more flapping of the wings. Something heavy landed on top of the tour bus, thumping. Sharp claws scraped over the metal, and one of its many beady red eyes peeked in through an old bullet hole in the roof. It kept moving, thumping until it stopped, out of sight. Right above them.
Both Kim and Javi found they had been holding their breath all the while.
“You spill one drop o’ blood in here, then Ol’ Smokey’s gonna be all over this place like flies on shit. And none of us are gonna look pretty at the end of it,” Michael said. The smile slowly faded from his visage, lending credence to the visceral danger lurking just outside.
“We can find your friend if we join forces. Work together,” Michael lied again.
Javi’s lips curled into a sneer but he swallowed any remark, and Kim picked up on the subtle cue. He could sense Michael’s lying. He smelled bullshit five miles against the wind, which is why she had brought him along.
“Alright, whaddya got?” she asked the sorcerer.
Michael smiled again. Like the wolf inviting Little Red Riding Hood inside.
He raised a hand, index finger outstretched, cautioning them away from shooting him and indicating that he was not about to draw a weapon. Digging his other hand into his coat’s pocket, he produced a small silver object.
A flip-top phone from the early 2000s. He held it out for a second, and then gently tossed it across the room to the two. It clattered onto the ratty carpeted floor in front of Kim’s boot. She handed Javi her flashlight and picked up the phone.
Flipped it open. Didn’t question why it still had juice, because nothing needed to make sense in this pocket space adjacent to Earth. No network, all sorts of little arcane symbols blinking on the display. Memory full. The buttons triggered ridiculous little beeps as she thumbed her way through the phone’s storage, browsing through a set of photos.
Kevin was on each of them, striking different poses in front of a mirror, dolled up with make-up and wearing women’s clothes. She always knew him from his stage performances as a magician to pull off the androgynous look quite well, so it did not surprise her that he looked rather pretty as a woman.
Without looking up, continuing to click through them in hopes of finding anything unusual, she asked, “Anything else?”
Michael pointed to something behind the two.
“Yeah. What do you see in there?”
She clapped the phone shut and pocketed it in her jacket then followed the cone of light that Javi shone on the object behind them.
A heavy-looking safe with a digital lock, its display dull and deactivated, its door open. It was empty except for a mirror sitting in it, pushed up against the back wall of the safe’s hollow belly. Kim and Javi only saw themselves inside of it.
Then Kim spotted the silver eyes creeping up behind them, closer and closer. Shining out from a cloud of darkness, billowing out and growing and preparing to engulf them.
She spun around and the deafening shot from her gun made way for a vicious ringing in their ears. Kim frantically pointed the gun around, looking for a target, but she had hit no person, only blown a hole through the back wall of the bus where Michael had been sitting mere seconds before.
“This how you thank me for helpin’?” Michael’s voice spilled out. Everywhere, and nowhere at the same time. Like a voice in the back of their heads, like he was telepathically communicating with them.
“Run,” Kim breathed.
Javi didn’t need to hear it twice. He tripped over some of the junk on the way out but was out of the bus within a matter of heartbeats, kicking up sand as he sprinted towards the pickup truck.
The cloud gathered, swirling and pooling in the corners inside the bus where silver eyes opened in its center, staring at Kim.
“You’re just as messed in the head,” Michael said. His laughter erupted, revolving and booming and growing in volume like the stifling black fog that filled the bus.
Kim coughed and held her breath, stumbling away from the bedroom. The thing outside cawed. Thumped, thundered, as it climbed down the side of the bus. Claws sliced through steel, causing the metal to screech under the pressure of the creature’s tremendous weight.
Michael’s laughter swelled to a crescendo and stopped abruptly.
His voice right in Kim’s ear, “He tried to cheat his way outta the deal. And if you try to help him, you’re just gettin’ in on the cheatin’. And you don’t wanna know how I’m gonna deal with you. You girls don’t know what repercussions you’re lookin’ at.”
She fired another shot, blindly at where his voice had come from. The wind howled, and so did Michael, one of them expressing otherworldly hunger, the other incredible pain. He tripped and slipped on old magazines and fell. Blood had sprayed against the walls inside the bus and he coughed.
“Bitch—”
He groaned and held his side, collapsing onto one of the chewed up couches. In his hand he held a mean-looking knife—something straight out of a horror movie, all jagged and meant for unholy rituals.
“See you in hell,” Kim muttered, scrambling away from him. The junk around her clanked and she tumbled down the short set of stairs leading out of the bus.
The pickup truck’s engine roared and its wheels kicked up sand as it spun around, sliding to a halt next to her. Kim’s eyes went wide but she hoisted herself back up onto her feet. Ripped open the passenger door as it banged against the frame without engaging and Javi hit the gas pedal, making the ragged old engine growl and roar again.
The truck sped off before she even slammed the door shut, and the vehicle kicked up more sand. The distance towards the bus rapidly grew. The winged thing peered after them with its eight red eyes.
With trembling hands, Kim blindly reloaded both barrels of her still-smoking shotgun, craning her neck to observe what the creature would do next.
It defied her expectations—did not leap or fly after the pickup truck. It instead swung around the edge of the bus, moving like molten, living shadows. Folded its wings up behind its back and crawled inside the yawning door, leading into the bus.
Michael’s screams of agony pierced the heavens, louder than the wind, and the old tour bus of The Lost Number shook violently as a struggle for life and death ensued inside there.
The radio in the truck screeched, almost like the creature, followed by garbled static and white noise. Kim hit buttons on it until she silenced the device.
A gust of wind kicked up a huge cloud of sand, sweeping over the truck and causing both driver and passenger to cough until the air cleared.
The sky had changed, the starry night making way for the warm orange tones of the sunset. The natural one. Earth.
Kim and Javi looked into the rear view mirror, seeing no bus, no alien-looking cacti, no winged monstrosity that belonged in another world.
They allowed themselves to breathe, emitting sighs of relief, knowing they could put this experience behind themselves. Maybe get a good night’s sleep some day.
They wouldn’t even talk about it for the next ten miles. Dealing with these sorts of things took it out of you. The unnatural always gave you that extra little oomph to unpack later on.
For the entire ride back to Vegas, they failed to notice the disgusting, football-sized egg stuck inside the back of the pickup truck.
They would only find it after it had hatched.
