A Kakashi-centric time-travel AU, but with a twist...
Thirteen-or-so year old Kakashi (shortly after the Kyūbi attacked, Minato & Kushina died, and Naruto was born) gets sent back in time to take the place of his younger self in a time when Obito and Rin were about thirteen-or-so themselves (maybe fourteen, IDK), some time shortly before the mission on Kannabi bridge.
(This is of course based in the original version of canon where Kakashi is several years younger than Obito & Rin...)
So what we wind up with is a young, unscathed Obito & Rin and one very traumatized Kakashi who is now roughly the same age (mentally) as his (previously dead, but now very much alive) teammates.
This would differ from most Kakashi-centric time-travel fics in that this version of Kakashi is not only still both physically AND mentally a child, but also the trauma of losing everyone he loves (and in such violent ways) is still extremely fresh in his mind, and he is not at all recovered from it. (Think "decade-long ANBU stint" level of shitty mental health...)
I've read so many (so, so many) Kakashi-centric time-travel fics (and I love them so much) but pretty much all of them are about an adult Kakashi going back in time (either after Pein killed him or after him dying from old age or, other times, from a mysterious jutsu or sealing accident) but I can't seem to recall even a single fic where a still-technically-a-kid Kakashi went back in time...

Love me Mercilessly Kakashi x Akami Chapter 28: Nightmares and Daydreams word count: 6.3k tw: violence previous chapters [x]
Akami sat with her back against the headboard. Her bed was pressed against the red accent wall and her sheets pooled around her waist. She wanted a cigarette but she promised herself she wouldn’t smoke in the house. It was Sasuke’s house too. She found relief in watching Kakashi as he slid his boxers on seated at the edge of the bed. She liked the flutter of muscles across his back, she wanted to trace them with her tongue.
Now that she’d had him, held him, tasted him.Wrapped her legs around him and sunk her teeth in she couldn't just let him go. It was selfish, she knew it was. But Akami was sick and tired of not having what she wanted and what she wanted right now was to keep him here suffocating in her arms until she could siphon every last ounce of warmth from him.
It crossed her mind that she might have a dependency on him too. She didn’t like that what’s where her mind went, but she decided to ignore it Because it would feel better to take what she wanted now and worry about it later over a menthol or two.
Akami slithered up behind Kakashi and hung her arms over his shoulders, she let her fingers rest on his chest. She breathed him in deeply, he smelled warm and wild like the earth. A smoky sweetness like cypress and cedar. Kakashi snorted as she nuzzled her face into the hair at the nape of his neck. She smiled viciously into his skin—she could smell her on him too.
He flattened one of her hands to his chest and stroked his thumb over her wrist. She placed small pecks up the side of his neck down his shoulder and back again. She kissed the cut of his jaw loving the sharp bite of stubble pricking her lips.
“Kashi” she hissed barely above a whisper to the side of his face, “Stay tonight.”
Akami tried to sound soft, to ask him rather than command him, but the thought of him leaving out her window made her want to break him in two so he could never leave again; even if she’d been the one to regimentally toss him out.
The words seeped from her tongue like a tantalizing venom, seductive and tempting like the serpent she was. His answer was in the way he kissed her, like he was using her mouth to breathe. Because Kakashi was just a man unable to resist the taste of forbidden fruit.
Akami had been lying awake for the past 15 minutes comfortably resting her chin on Kakashi's chest and running her finger through his hair. She knew she needed to get up, she had to make Sasuke something to eat and pack his lunch, but Kakashi was warm and the world was cold.
When she heard Sasuke getting ready in the bathroom she reluctantly sat up. She didn’t want to wake him, but Akami couldn’t resist the urge to kiss his nose goodbye.
Kakashi grabbed her wrist. “Is that all I get?” Akami rolled her eyes. She should have known he was awake the entire time.
She kissed him then he kissed her.
“I thought the point of me staying was so we could go again.” He grumbled to her lips as his hand slid dangerously lower down the curve of her spine.
“I have to drop him off,” she said, pulling away to get dressed. She laid in bed longer than she should have. “You can stay if you want to wait for me.” Akami jumped once, twice to tug her pants over her hips. Kakashi hummed, rolling over onto his stomach and re-fluffing the pillow under his head. It was all the answer Akami needed.
Sasuke fiddled with his eggs. He watched Kami-chan smoother a piece of toast with what seemed like a lb. of cream cheese and popped the whole thing in her mouth. She was humming to herself making his lunch practically skipping around the kitchen as the toast hung out of her mouth like one of her un-ashed cigarettes.
She finished with his lunch and tied up Sasuke’s bento with her chicken print furoshiki and took a big bite of toast. Sasuke continued to stare at her, amused by her extra good mood.
She leaned back on the counter and popped her hip out “What?” She asked through a mouthful.
“You’re not grumbly today.” Sasuke took a bite of his eggs.
“Grumbly?”
“You’re grumbly in the morning,” He said very matter of factly, tilting his chin and articulating with a swish of his chopsticks.
“Am not!” She narrowed her eyes.
“Are too”
Akami put a hand on her hip. “Yeah well you're plain miserable when you stay up past your bedtime.”  She took another bite out of her toast, it crunched obnoxiously.
“Am not,” Sasuke pouted, pushing the rest of his egg into his mouth at once. It filled his right cheek, he preferred to chew on that side.
“Are too,” Akami said, pushing back off the counter, and swiping up his bento.
He hopped off the barstool and slipped on his shoes. He considered not telling Kami-chan she had a bit of cream cheese on her upper lip. He wasn’t miserable, he was just sleepy.  She waited by the door and held up his backpack for him to slip his arms through. It was enough to convince him to tell her about the cream cheese.
Akami waited until she watched Sasuke totter up the front steps to the Academy. She had to resist the urge to sprint back home. She liked knowing Kakashi was waiting in her bed, wearing nothing but her sheets. On the fast paced walk back home she decides she wants to be on top. She hasn’t had morning sex in a long long time and if she’s going to get to look at him she wants to look at all of him.
**
Akami sprawled out over Kakashi resting her face on her arms tucked over his back. She was beat. And even though she had to get up and come back, she decides it still counts as morning sex–and it was very very worth it. She hasn’t even had any coffee yet, just a piece of toast and a lb. of cream cheese, but still she felt full. She thought about getting up and making Kakashi something to eat but she wanted to bathe in the sunlight a little bit longer, she felt kind of like a cat. She stretched and nuzzled her face in her arms against his back, the sunlight streaking across her bedroom from the window Kakashi climbs in and out of. The light is equally as warm as the man beneath her. She closed her eyes just as the light shifted.
A messenger bird pecked at the glass. She leaned over Kakashi more to open the window, earning a grunt from the added weight. She untied the note from its leg and the bird took off.
A wave of excitement rushed from her fingertips to her toes. Akami flung the note to the floor and kissed up and down Kakashi’s back.
“I have a meeting.” “With the Council.” “In an hour.” “I bet.” “It’s about.” “My report.”
She heard that sly smile stretch across his lips. Kakashi rolled them over. He returned the favor and placed quick kisses up and down her chest and stomach. She giggled as he slides lower. He stops for a second sealing his lips to the softest part of her tummy, just below her belly button. He looked up at her. She knew that look–she wanted to succumb to it entirely, but she only had an hour.
“I have to get ready.” She stuck out her bottom lip in protest.
It seemed even his hair was dejected as he rested his chin on her stomach instead fixing her with those sad puppy dog eyes. It’s true what people say about shinobi resembling their summons. He looked just like Bull when he wanted another treat. It’s funny because he looked like all 8 of his very unique ninken, just never all at once. Or maybe they look like him. Akami isn’t sure.
“But you know…” she sang, trailing a finger over his arm. “I might need some help in the shower.”
Akami watched his pout disappear and she was right about his hair, because it definitely perked up. Kakashi tugged her down the bed, threw her over his shoulder and carried her to the shower.

One shot: Kakashi x Sakura.
Secret trainings lead to secret conversations to secret feelings, Will Sakura win this time?
You can't always win.
Tumblr media
"This..." Sakura said, trying to catch her breath, "this has to stop, Sensei."
"What?" Kakashi asked in his dumbfounded bored tone, "What does have to stop, Sa Ku Ra?" he finished rising on his elbows, looking at Sakura from his position under her.
"Sensei, please," she was already sitting next to him, recovering some of her personal space lost moments ago, "you know what I'm talking about, and it has to stop."
"Sakura, let me remind you that you came to me asking for this. I only please your wishes." A close-eyed smile was painted under his mask, and Sakura hated that idiot expression.
"Oh, come on, Kakashi, don't tell me you don't enjoy it too." She was again losing the train of the conversation, and she knew she would lose her point too.
"I've never said I didn't; on the contrary..." Kakashi said, lifting his chin in a very arrogant Hokage way, "but is you the one complaining and asking me to stop what you asked for."
"Because it's unfair!" Sakura pouted, crossing her arms over her chest.
"Ok... Now I'm not following you." Kakashi said, looking straight at her.
"You are impossible, Sensei..." Sakura spoke, looking tenderly at him. "It's unfair that every single night we train you let me win." There, she finally said it.
"Oooh..." Kakashi said, full of surprise, "Wow... Do you...Do you really think I let you win?"
"Yes, I do!" Sakura said, looking at the sky. To look at him at this moment was too hurtful because she was not only feeling frustrated about her skills but because she wasn't capable of making him see her as a woman who was hopelessly in love with her former teacher.
Sakura had to recognise that it was true that she never told him anything nor made any insinuation about her feelings. Even if, with time, they became close friends and shared a special kind of intimate relationship, nothing seemed to evolve into a romantic dynamic between them, and she felt that it was all her fault.
"Maaa~ Sakura, you can't think that I let you win." He seemed confused, caught off guard, like a little boy discovered doing some mischieve, disarming Sakura to her bones.
"Yes!" She began making eye contact for the first time in what seemed a lifetime.
"Ok, tell me, how do I do it, how do I let you win?"
"Let's seee..." Sakura started, "First you are the great Copy Ninja..."
"Ex." Sakura was sure he would make this problematic.
"Ok, ex, but you know, like thousands of jutsus, you mastered the Sharingan, and you are not even an Uchiha. You are the Hokage, you have years of training and fights, and were a prodigy. And your name is like a dead sentence to our enemies."
"That's all in the past, Sakura. You are talking about ages ago." Kakashi said with longing in his eyes.
"Ok, but what about now? Ah?" Sakura attacked again, "I do your medical exams, and you are more vital than ever for the results. Without the Sharingan draining your Chakra, you are stronger, faster and more robust than any young shinobi."
"I guess what you mean by robust is fatter, right?" How was he capable of making her blush like when she was thirteen.
"Sensei!"
"Easy... If I din't know you better I could say you are in love." And again, that infamous smile.
"What? No... I mean..." She was in serious trouble now and was giving away too much about her feelings in a conversation that was supposed to have nothing to do with feelings.
"Sakura..." Kakashi began turning serious again, "why can't you praise yourself for once? Suppose everything you said is true, but I'm not in my twenties anymore, and you are not thirteen, either." Was he noticing her? "You are a young woman full of strength with the same training I once had. You are Tsunade's direct disciple. Your chakra control is outstanding. You are a great doctor. I really don't understand how you can doubt so much about yourself." He looked so intensely into her eyes that she felt like flying or dying. What if she kissed him right there?
Would it be that bad if she kissed Kakashi? Of course, it was out of all limits and boundaries. He was not only the Hokage, but for God's sake, he was him, Hatake Kakashi, and she was just she, after all, the always tiny and invisible Sakura. She was abandoning the conversation once more. Daydreaming about the possibilities of one little forbidden kiss, not realising that, in truth, she was bothered about not losing a training fight combat against Kakashi, which was very ridiculous. He was right. Instead of being proud of herself, she felt her victories as undeserved gifts.
"Sakura... Sakura?" Kakashi said, waving his hand in front of her face. "Are you still here?"
"I'm sorry, what...What were you saying?" Sakura returned to reality and had to remind herself that she was not thirteen anymore.
"I was saying that everything you say about me it's true, and even if it hurts, losing the Sharingan maybe it was a kind of a blessing, but you are the new generation now, and you are better than anyone of us, the old ones."
"Do you really think that, Sensei?" Sakura knew her voice was trembling, and she didn't care. "So you don't cheat on me and let me win?"
"Sakura... I thought you know me better by now..." Kakashi said in his beautiful soft tone, and Sakura was melting right there, "I hate losing. I wouldn't even do it on pourpuse."
"Oh... Ok." She didn't manage to say anything else.
"Besides, as Hokage if I have to put my life in somebody's hands, undoubtedly it would be yours," Sakura noted the soft movement but did nothing about it. Kakashi was tugging a revel strand of pink hair behind her ear. "I bet not even Naruto or Sasuke are competition against you."
"Yeah... them..." She let the phrase hang in the air.
"What about them?" His neutral tone suddenly sounded overly uninterested, even for Kakashi.
And Sakura knew that that was the question, 'what about them'. Especially about Sasuke Uchiha. But should she tell Kakashi her feelings? The truth was that she was spending more and more time with Sasuke, but nothing was coming out of it. Once, it used to be her teenage dream, but now it was her adult nightmare, it was obvious that they were not meant to be, but they were forcing this kind of frozen relationship in which they only walked together for hours in silence without even holding hands.
"Well..."Sakura started looking anywhere but in Kakashi's direction, "you know Naruto, he is doing it fine. He is thrilled with Hinata, I think there is a future there..." Sakura spoke with truth and hope in her words. She loved Naruto and his bright, and she knew he deserved his happy ending.
"Yes, I see that too." Kakashi said with what Sakura understood as longing, but he immediately shifted his position, and everything in him changed, "and Sasuke? I heard you two were dating."
Sakura choked on her words.
"You don't need to answer me, Sa Ku Ra. I just want to be prepared if a Chidori comes flying straight to me if he discovered our little secret." Kakashi joked, and she blushed as if secret training was the equal of a sin.
"I don't think the Chidori is his worst attack right now." She smugly answered.
"Yeah... I thought so." And he didn't say anything else.
The soft summer breeze was hypnotic during the summers in Konoha. Even if it was hot enough, like to swear once or twice, the weather was enjoyable, even more if Sakura was seated by night side by side with his secret love, Hatake Kakashi. Even now, that losing a battle was not the worst thing, but speaking about Sasuke was.
"We..." she started, "We are not dating dating, Sensei."
"What do you mean with dating dating? I'm older than you but not that much, Sakura... I don't think things had changed so much since..." But She interrupted him.
"Don't play smart with me, Sensei," Sakura said exasperated, "I mean that we are not... together, like, you know...like..." she was biting her lower lip to the point of almost bleeding. "We are only knowing each other."
"Don't you already know each other a lot?" Kakashi was doing this so on purpose that it almost felt innocent, but she knew better: pestering her was one of his favourite things.
"Of course we know each other a lot..." It was becoming impossible for her to speak. Where were all her eloquent words when she needed them the most?
"We know as comarades, as friends, as team mates, even as enemies, but..."
"But love and romance are something completely different, right?" And for the first time in a while, she observed his face trying to avoid thinking in the moon reflected in his eyes. "I mean..." He continued, "relationships are something else."
Sakura didn't answer. She only sighed in frustration, wrinkling her nose and forehead like she did when trying to solve something. Sasuke was a puzzle, she was a puzzle, for the love of God, they were a puzzle, and she wasn't even trying half her best to do something about it.
"Sakura?" Kakashi asked in a whisper. "Do you love him?"
"Of course I care for him, Sensei! Why? Why are you laughing at me?" Sakura was already towering over Kakashi, still sitting easily on the fresh green grass. Arms crossed over her chest, angry red face and her foot tapping the floor beneath her.
"Did you hear my question, Sakura? Smile in his voice.
"Yes, and I answered you." Sakura replied stubbornly.
"Yeah... I think you need another round."
And in just one soft movement, Sakura was pinned to the grass below Kakashi's body. Arms over her head entangled painfully delighted with his. Too close to avoid his eyes and cologne but too far and questionable to madly kiss him there. Kakashi got closer to her. His mouth to her ear and the soft fabric of his mask over her neck drove her crazy.
"Care is not love, Sa Ku Ra." He began teasingly, "I didn't think I have to teach you that." And he went back to look into her eyes. "And you were right... You can't always win."
"What?" She retorted, to what statement she didn't know.
"Ma~ Sa Ku Ra! You were right... Maybe sometimes I just let you win."
And in a puff of air, he disappeared, letting Sakura lying down on the grass with her heart beating uncontrollably out of her chest. She was mad. Mad about being cheated, mad about her and Sasuke, mad about her lack of answers and most of all, she was profoundly and crazy mad about Kakashi.

things I love: Kakashi and Gai adoring each others’ scars and smooching every single one, very cute, 10/10 battle husbands
things I also love: Kakashi having self-harm scars from attacks he could’ve easily dodged but chose not to in the ANBU days, and Gai having his big self-sacrifice Eighth Gate scar over his heart, and them both having very complicated and not altogether positive feelings about those particular scars on each other, 11/10, we sup on the sweet nectar of angst-induced tears in this house.
things I absolutely adore: the people Kakashi loves dying ‘for’ him or ‘because’ of him again and again and again, and then Gai doing it too. And Kakashi accepting his choice in the heat of battle, even if he’s horrified by it... but then, in the aftermath, when Gai’s alive and healed and back to a relative degree of mobility....
There’s a small part of Kakashi, a part he flat-out refuses to acknowledge out loud, that is never, ever, ever going to forgive him

obkk prompt #1
AU: post-canon, alive!Obito
One of the conditions for Obito to be released from prison is to have his eyes removed and sealed away. What Obito didn’t know was during the surgery to remove them, they would also gave him Kakashi’s left eye as instructed by the Sixth Hokage. Kakashi wants Obito to have the chance to be able to see the world and redeem himself.
Something about seeing the world through someone else's eyes, something about finding yourself in a new era, something about reconstructing an old answered question, something.

For the past three years, there is only one person Sakura hasn’t been able to talk to. It would have been easy, to just move close to him when she sees him, chalk up the courage to say something witty that he’d easily respond to.
Like before…
And yet, he runs. He always does.
When a stranger starts to show up in Konoha, his camera at the ready for landscapes and skies, and acting as if they’d already met before, Sakura tolerates him at best and is on guard at worst.
But is it really this easy to get close to someone new?

looking for fic recommendations
Any sasuke centric fics that don't glorify itachi, team 7, or konoha? I'm sick of team 7 being so OOC and seeing fics where itachi is shown as a good guy.
Honestly, it's so hard to find good sasuke fics that actually do a good job at portraying all or at the very least most of the characters. Also I keep reading fics where naruto is some kind, empathetic and understanding, caring kid who knows too much and can do no wrong because he is better than everyone else. It feels so wrong to me, like that's not at all how he acts in canon. And a lot of those fics show part 1 naruto which is even worse because it's even more OOC for how they try and portray him.
I also usually find a lot of fics that I like at first, but then they glorify itachi and his actions, and I'm just like, "I can't read this anymore." Does anyone have any recommendations?
I guess you could say I'm pretty picky about what I want to read, but I'm tired of reading fics like that, they just don't sit well with me. And don't get me started on the fics where sakura's character is completely changed so that she can be this great, amazing perfect-at-everything girl where they give her insecurities that aren't canon to try and make her more relatable and sympathizable despite making her a pretty perfect and unflawed character. Honestly most fics written by sakura fans portray her so OOC it's not even possible for me to read it, I don't have the attention span necessary for that.
I don't have a long attention span unless it's a really good fic, so I'm looking for stuff that I can actually read. Is there anyone who can help me here?

Thinking of writing a Team 7 fanfic where Kakashi thinks of himself as the wettest stinkiest dirtiest mess of fur Konohagakure has ever seen, so when Naruto, Sakura and Sasuke are presented to him as a group of famished dogs (derogatory), he immediately becomes impossibly protective.
He is unable to act like a proper father, due his many traumas and issues, and that's something good because he is not exactly sure how he could ever heal the parental wounds of his students. However, he has too much experience living on the darkest and coldest parts of the world, so at least he can teach them a thing or two about it and hopefully, please oh please, he can shape their hunger take into something less self-inflicting and all-consuming.
“Dogs come in packs” sounds like a good name.

ok for the violence asks, if u may <3
worst blorboficiation,
a compelling argument for why your fave would never top or bottom (sasuke unless u want to talk about other/or more than one)
you're mad/ashamed/horrified you actually kind of like...
i have chosen violence
2. a compelling argument for why your fave would never top or bottom UUGHHH this hard cause i only ship him with naruto and i see sns as a very switch-vers relationship... okay, i'll try. in the context of sns... - sasuke would never bottom because: he spent years in caves with a guy who wanted to steal his body. his brother violated his mind with the tsukuyomi. he's had his eyes surgically removed and replaced. he had a curse mark non-consensually bitten onto his neck. his likely first experience with penetration was haku turning his lil genin ass into a pincushion. i can't imagine sasuke would ever want to let someone inside him, in any sense of the word, after all that. being penetrated is a very vulnerable thing, most of those positions leave you with little control over what's happening. i don't think sasuke would appreciate that. he'd need the control that comes with topping. - sasuke would never top because: he's bottom-coded, truly. he's the yin, he's receptive to other's opinions, he was willing to at least feign interest in letting orochimaru take his body, he accepted the curse mark, he's often portrayed in the more feminine role when cast beside naruto, etc. etc. etc. also, remember how he plunged his hand through his best friend's chest that one time? remember how he spent years of his life becoming one of the strongest people on earth? i can easily imagine that having some kind of psychological effect on sasuke's sexuality. i can imagine him seeing his body as a weapon and not trusting himself to stay gentle in the heat of the moment. he can, obviously, but the amount of worries and concerns it comes with makes it unenjoyable. once he opens up a bit, he'd take to bottoming like a fish to water.
13. worst blorboficiation KAKASHI. i feel like people focus too hard on one aspect of his personality or another when he's got so much going on. he's actually so complex. yes he's the sopping wet puppy in a cardboard box but he also is an attack animal who will go fucking apeshit if you come for his pack members. he's got multiple overlapping traumas that get repeatedly hashed out in the text and at some times very few coping mechanisms. woobify him all you want but he's still a kage-level fighter long before he gets the title (that he didn't even want but still did a great job with!). they made him teach children. like you have SO MUCH to work with why are you only focusing on his stats or his teaching methods like 😩
19. you're mad/ashamed/horrified you actually kind of like... orochimaru XD the dude's fucked seven ways to sunday but he's just such a compelling villain to me. i especially like to think of him pre-naruto, as a young adult still being broken by the world and by war and his toxic relationship with tsunade and solidifying into the creepy fuckin snake we see later. he's also genuinely one of the funniest characters in the show to me, especially if you consider what he's up to in boruto. which is fucking?? nothing?? lmfao like he's got a kid (or maybe a few) and tenzou babysits him and taka is there?? idk man it's hilarious tho.

SI! Sasuke Chapter 2
Read chapter 1 first
[Kakashi, prior to the formation of Team Seven, also known as the beginning of the end]
“He lives in the Uchiha district?”
Now, Kakashi wasn’t what anyone would call a well-adjusted individual, but even he was a bit appalled as he followed the Hokage to Uchiha Sasuke’s place of residence.
“Please tell me he doesn’t live in his old house.”
Compared to the subtle grilling Shikamaru’s parents gave him and Ino’s shrine to purple and all things girly in her room, Kakashi had thought Sasuke’s would be the easiest home visit. He had expected a flat somewhere in the village, perhaps a bit messy as most boys were, but still liveable. By all accounts, Uchiha Sasuke had graduated at the top of his class with hardly any effort, showcasing a level of intelligence people both hoped and feared matched Itachi’s.
He was also, apparently, completely insane, but that didn’t detract from his intelligence.
As such, Kakashi had expectations that Sasuke was able to care for himself with a high level of competence, and thus lived in a semi-normal flat. He should have known better than to hope, because Kakashi just lived to be disappointed.
“He doesn’t live in the main house,” Sarutobi said drily. “But, well, you’ll see.”
.. that wasn’t ominous or anything.
The next hint Kakashi had that there was something off about his future student was his front garden. It was home to dozens of animals, ranging from common birds, dogs, and cats to woodland creatures like deer, rabbits, and foxes.
There was a dog curled up on the wooden porch, birds perched on the bird bath, a deer fawn grazing in the grass. Their utter stillness notified the jounin that they weren’t real but were in fact extremely lifelike taxidermy animals. It was just his imagination, but Kakashi swore their eyes followed them as they made their way up the path to the front door.
Inside the house wasn’t any better.
The Hokage opened the door and they were immediately greeted by an angry bear’s head. It was mounted on the wall, teeth bared unwelcomingly, and someone had even stuffed a dead rat in its jaws. It wasn’t an actual dead rat thank god, just another taxidermy one, but it was still a very unpleasant sight to be greeted by.
Peering further in, there were even more stuffed heads lining the entrance hallway.
“This was Uchiha Shisui’s house. Sasuke… redecorated when he moved in; I believe one of his clansmen was a taxidermist, and he relocated all his work here.”
Kakashi was starting to believe the rumours about Sasuke’s sanity, or lack thereof.
Walking past the staring heads revealed the living room. If anything, this was even worse because in addition to the random animals dotted about the place, there was a glass cabinet of human skulls – or very good replicas – that peered out at him from a place of pride by the bookcase. Heavy curtains blocked out much needed light and flicking the switch only the whole place spookier.
Instead of normal electric lights, flipping the switch somehow turned on the tall candles placed around the room. And Kakashi didn’t mean electric candles, no, he meant somehow all the candle wicks caught on fire simultaneously, casting the room in a gloomy, green glow.
How…?
It was a brilliant security measure though, because now Sasuke would come back and see his candles had been lit by someone else and would know someone had been here. An elite jounin and the Hokage, caught out by some dark curtains and candles.
A flash of red gleamed from the corner of his vision and Kakashi twitched. His head whipped around to look straight at the crow. Its eyes were black and beady, creepily unblinking, but normal – as far as dead, preserved animals could be normal.
He turned away, only for another flash of red to appear, and this time Kakashi was sure he had seen the skulls staring at him. Their eyeball-less sockets tracked him as he moved, but that was impossible, it had to be his mind playing-
Kai!
He flexed his chakra and the red-eyed animals and staring bones in his peripheral returned to back to lifeless creatures and empty white skulls.
He breathed out slowly.
“As you can see, young Sasuke has…unique security measures.” Sarutobi sounded rather pained.
“Unique,” Kakashi deadpanned, heartrate returning to normal.
It was, objectively, terrific genjutsu work.
Subtle, paranoia-inducing, and effective, it would drive intruders to make more mistakes and thus trip up on Sasuke’s other security measures. Objectively, it was impressive work that spoke well of him as a ninja, and that he wasn’t like other boys his age, caught up in the glamour of flashy ninjutsu.
Unobjectively, it was creepy as fuck. Who could possibly live in a house like this and not piss themselves every time they went to the bathroom at night?
The kitchen was thankfully lacking any dead animals or skulls, though there was a huge pile of pumpkins stacked high on the counter. The rest of the room was blessedly normal, though there were still a few hints of oddness. There was a huge sign next to his calendar proclaiming ‘Only five months till Halloween!’ with a cheerful cartoon witch on a broom and a grinning pumpkin. It would have been cute if Kakashi knew what the hell ‘Halloween’ was.
The jounin curiously opened the fridge and instantly regretted it. There wasn’t any mouldy food or expired milk like normal twelve-year-old boys, and Kakashi could only wish there was. Instead, what greeted him was what could only be described as a jar of floating eyeballs, and a half-eaten brain. He could be forgiven for the noise that escaped.
“What the-”
Kakashi cast a wild look at the Hokage, to discover Sasuke had also managed to disturb the Sandaime with merely the contents of his fridge. Both men had been in Orochimaru’s labs, and yet Kakashi was approaching the same level of anxiety just going through a pre-teen’s house.
He plucked up his courage to poke the brain. A piece of the pink fold broke off and crumbled.
Oh thank the gods, it was just an extremely realistic cake.
Sarutobi was subtly frowning. “His… eating habits are new, I believe.”
Morbid curiosity made Kakashi try it. It was actually pretty good, and clearly homemade because no one else in the history of ever would create a brain-cake. Who on earth would come up with that idea in the first place? And why??
There were no answers to be found in Sasuke’s fridge, so Kakashi closed it. He was almost scared to check out the rest of the house.
Sasuke’s bedroom was easily identified because he had a poster (handmade of course) taped to the door proclaiming, ‘Down with Truck-kun! Death to all cross-dimensional entities!’
There was a high-tech boxy vehicle that Kakashi vaguely recognised as something you might find in the Land of Snow, its front speckled ominously with crimson. With a mounting sense of dread, Kakashi swung the door open.
Hanging above Sasuke’s bed was an enormous painting that took up the entire wall. Bold black lines dripped sickly green, and a huge grinning mouth dominated the centre of the picture. There were tentacles, tongues, teeth, and the eyes–
Kakashi turned on his heel. “Right. That’s it. I’m out of here.”
He was going to have nightmares tonight, he just knew it.
XXX
At first glance, Uchiha Sasuke didn’t appear like a madman put on this earth for the sole purpose of making Shikamaru’s life miserable.
Sasuke had classic, symmetrical features and soulful dark eyes that likely caused ladies to coo over him. He had ditched the high collar Shikamaru vaguely remembered him wearing years ago for a steel-grey long sleeve shirt and black trousers.
He also didn’t seem to care about gender constraints and kept his shoulder length hair contained by purple butterfly hair pins without a hint of embarrassment. To be fair, he definitely needed something to keep those spikes under control, but Shikamaru would bet that not a single boy in their academy class would have the guts to wear those pins except for Sasuke.
He even wore glittery nail polish for kami’s sake! Shikamaru hadn’t seen that shade of violet since Ino was seven and in her sparkle phase.
But apart from his odd preference for feminine purple accessories (which Ino and Sasuke bonded over), Sasuke looked like an ordinary twelve-year-old aspiring ninja. In fact, the Nara suspected that had he been even the slightest bit less insane, he would have had droves of fangirls chasing after him.
A thought hit him, its intensity striking like lightning.
Was it… on purpose?
Shikamaru glanced to his right as Team 7 sweated beneath the midday sun, pulling up weeds. Sasuke cheered as he plucked a stubborn one out, celebrating as if he had just won the lottery. Shikamaru shook his head.
No. he was just insane.
He was also vastly more skilled than anyone had previously thought, what with taking out one of the most elite jounin in their village without even breaking a sweat. Shikamaru had gone home after that disastrous bell test and had instantly spilled what had gone on that day.
His father had looked just as intrigued and disturbed as Shikamaru himself, and was clearly curious about Sasuke. Their sensei unfortunately shared that curiosity, because that day after their first D-rank, Kakashi decided to put them all through a skill assessment.
They were drilled on taijutsu, stamina, weaponry, stealth, dexterity, chakra control, and jutsu of all areas. It was depressing but not unexpected that both Ino and Sasuke performed far better than him at all the physical aspects, with Sasuke being heads and shoulders above them at the speed drills, chakra control, and weaponry. He had clearly done extensive speed training, and while his taijutsu was technically worse than Ino’s, he always won because he was just so damn fast.
His skill with weapons was also unreal, and Shikamaru was sure it had to be sharingan shenanigans going on, because there was no way anyone without one could do what he did.
But by far the most disturbing thing about Sasuke, was his chosen area of expertise, genjutsu.
Even without the sharingan – that he had apparently had for five years now and had kept hidden – Sasuke was terrifying with illusions. He had pointed at Shikamaru, and the Nara had suddenly been covered in rats that had scampered up his body and begun eating his eyes. Shikamaru could sense some Uchiha-eye complex there but had been too busy screaming at the time to analyse it.
Sasuke had released him pretty quickly, but then they had to take a break for Shikamaru to recover his wits and for Kakashi to explain what jutsu were and were not appropriate to use on comrades. To their horror, Sasuke had genuinely said with a hundred percent sincerity that that was his kindest illusion. All the others he had practiced were either insidiously subtle or even more terrifying.
Kakashi had decided it was better to go over Sasuke’s repertoire verbally after that.
Not only could he make people believe they were being eaten from the inside out by bugs, he could make their tongues swell in their mouths and choke them, animate people's intestine to pop straight out of their guts, create giggling shadow monsters that haunted the corner of people's peripheral vision, and unleash hordes of soul-sucking monsters on people.
And he could do all this with simply a single gesture of his glittery nails.
“So that’s why you paint your nails!” Shikamaru burst out. It’s not that he’s against men wearing nail polish; it’s that he’s against anyone wearing glittery purple nail polish in that particular eye-searing shade. His curiosity had been nagging at him this whole time, the need to know why people do the things they do. He was constantly curious about Sasuke, and he hated it.
Sasuke tilted his head to the side. “No, I just like it. Purple’s my colour you know.” He winked.
Shikamaru glared. And just when he thought Sasuke had started making sense.
Later, when they’re being attacked by an S-ranked missing-inn's house size snake and Sasuke materialises a giant, glowing purple skeleton from the ether to slice it in two, Shikamaru will realise everything Sasuke says actually has a reason behind it. Perhaps it’s something he can’t immediately see, or it may be a stupid reason, but there is a reason.
Then Shikamaru will remember all the crap he’s heard throughout the years and really begin to panic.
“However my greatest technique is the Talk no jutsu, as befitting of the protagonist,” Sasuke announced, chest puffing up and head high with pride.
“…Talk no jutsu?” Ino asked uncertainly, looking sensibly afraid of what sort of technique Sasuke could possibly believe was even more fearsome than his genjutsu.
“I can show you!” he chirped, hopping to his feet.
Kakashi’s one visible eye widened. “No, Sasuke, wait-”
The Uchiha slammed his hands together in the ram seal, opening his mouth and booming, “SASUKE STYLE: TALK NO JUTSU!”
His bellow thundered through the training grounds and pierced Shikamaru’s skull like a jackhammer drilling into it. Shikamaru immediately puked out his breakfast as up and down ceased to exist and the ground began bucking him off. His head rang and he suddenly felt like his insides were rebelling and trying to kill him.
Yet even through all the horrific nausea, he felt… strangely happy? Lips stretching into a wide grin and feeling joy well up in his chest, the Nara continued to vomit.
Sasuke’s cheerful voice intruded, now back to normal volume. “Doesn’t that make you want to stop fighting and be friends?”
Looking similarly ill and somehow retching without removing his mask, their teacher stared at him. “Sasuke,” Kakashi swallowed heavily, giggling in a distinctly bewildered manner. “What the fuck!?”
The Uchiha’s smile faded, finally realising his technique hadn’t worked as intended. “Talk no jutsu works by talking to your opponent and making them lose the will to fight, then befriending them afterwards. The real thing just doesn’t seem to work for me for some reason, which is why I created an auditory genjutsu to replicate its effects.”
He looked at all three of them and their puddles of half-digested food uncertainly. “The auditory attack strips you of the ability to fight and the happiness makes you want to be friends. Is it not working?”
In a similar position on her hands and knees and grinning just as unnaturally, Ino spat out a glob of saliva. Her wide, manic smile, juxtaposed with the malice burning in her eyes and her sickly pallor made Ino appear like a vengeful demon that had just crawled out of hell.
“I-” she gasped “-hate you. So much.”
Sasuke frowned. “Hmm… needs more work. Perhaps some more happiness?” He stroked his chin contemplatively.
Shikamaru heaved again.
“Why!?”

Love me Mercilessly  Chapter 14: Renounce Word Count: 2.8k Warnings: Cannonical character death, mentions of trauma, OCD
Kakashi has a revelation that comes far too late.
When Rin was kind to Obito it was one thing. Rin was nice, she was too nice.
They had grown up together and she was a medic; she didn’t fully understand how utterly useless Obito was. …But Akami! Well what the fuck was she playing at? She understood, she could see.
She’d even beat Kakashi a few times...quite a few times. Why was she nice to Obito?
Normally he would just ignore Obito, he ignored the other kids with big dreams that were too loud. The system disposed of the trash and he wouldn’t need to worry about it.
Not only had Obito squeaked through the cracks but he was stuck on Kakashi’s goddamn team too! And now this-this girl! Who had talent and skill, who was an Anbu was paying attention to him, acknowledging him!
No, I’m not jealous, I don’t want attention. Not from her, not from Rin and not from Sensei.
I just don’t get it!
It made Kakashi angry, he usually wasn’t an angry person. He picked on Obito more, and said hateful things. He tried harder in their fights and gloated when he won, as though it were truly an accomplishment.
Obito had always been bothersome but now that they were friends he’s insufferable!
And why does it bother him so much? Sensei paid attention to Obito. Yes but he had to, he was his Sensei. Akami wasn’t even on our team! She would train with Obito and spar with him.
Why!? She could be training with the Anbu! Instead she wastes her time with Obito.
…And Obito he might be too stupid to notice but the other kids were starting to leave him alone, and Kakashi knew it was Akami’s doing.
Why should she care about scum like him!?!
" Those who break the rules are scum, but those who would abandon even one of their friends are worse than scum! If I'm going to be called scum either way, I'd rather break the rules! And if that somehow makes me anything less than a real shinobi, then I'll crush all of the so-called "real" shinobi!”
When Kakashi took the blade intended for Obito, he lost his left eye. In return Obito gained two tomoe in his sharingan and for the first time it felt like they were truly his eyes. When he activated it in the past he never felt all that comfortable with his abilities. Now the world was clearer than ever. The man that stole Kakashi’s sight paid for it with his life. Obito was determined to make the sharingan his own, that day he did.
" I'm about to… die… but I'll become your eye… and see the future with you. "
**
Akami and her unit had been on the front lines. She was surprised when Minato appeared speaking with her unit commander only to vanish again as he was needed in another battle. Akami’s unit suffered minor casualties and met at Konoha’s rendezvous point just on the border between Grass and Fire. Her unit was reporting in to Danzo as they awaited the arrival of the other teams in their sector. She recognized quite a few faces, but finally sought the one’s she was looking for. Team 7 made it back safely. She breathed a sigh of relief. Minato nodded at her from afar and went to report in. Word had traveled fast that they were not only successful in cutting off Iwagakure’s supply line at Kannabi Bridge but that Minato had single handedly taken out 1,000 enemy nin.
Akami glanced over Rin, then Kakashi who was wearing a bandage over his left eye, but she didn’t see Obito. She shifted her position, pretending to listen to her unit commander and hoped for a better view. Still no Obito. Rin and Kakashi look devastated. Akami couldn’t pretend to listen anymore. She stormed off towards them and shoved Kakashi.
“Where’s Obito?” She asked harshly, Kakashi couldn’t look at her but was relieved she was alive. Kakashi realized it far too late. Obito wasn’t scum, he was...
Obito was wonderful. And he was awful.
Kakashi hated Obito because he was so different, he was the things Kakashi wished he could be.
Obito didn’t care what people thought, he held to his beliefs.
Kakashi had believed his father was a hero, growing up he wanted to be just like Sakumo.
But after defending him for so long he gave up and he agreed with the hateful things people said.
Because it was easier, it was easier to pretend that he didn’t really care.
But Obito…he cared about everything. He had opinions on everything and he stuck to his opinions even if no one agreed.
And maybe he was jealous that Akami acknowledged Obito because he was a nobody and yet she still cared. She was a good ninja, a good fighter but she chose to care.
But Kakashi was the best and everyone knew his name, yet the praise he got didn’t look the same as when Obito got knocked to the ground and Akami told him to stand up, hold his chin up high and do it again.
Maybe he was jealous because Obito never backed down, not from his beliefs or his dreams and he never backed down from me.
And maybe I never hated Obito,
I hated the things I couldn’t be.
And maybe I never hated Akami,
I hated the things in her I saw in me...
“Kakashi ? Where is Obito!?” He looked up at her as he fought back tears. Akami already knew she could see it written on his face, but she needed to hear him say it. Kakashi unwrapped the bandage over his eye thinking she might want to see some piece of Obito.

hi! I'm not sure if you read fanfic but I was wondering if you have any kakashi centered fic recs? :)
hi! oh boy do i ever read fanfic! these are just a handful of kakashi-centric fics that i've read and enjoyed recently! i would love to hear other fic recs, if anyone else reading this has suggestions to add!
reflection by flyingcrane (not rated, kakashi-centric, feat. team minato, very character study-oriented)
heisotsu by itsemily_ofc (explicit, kkyam, centers around kakashi learning how to process trauma, i'm biased bc i love kkyam but this fic slaps even if you don't ship them)
i will be the house that holds every part of you by centralsaints (teen & up, kkob, character study, a series of poignant vignettes that explore kakashi's life and trauma)
kamui blues by butter_peanut (explicit, kkob, au where kakashi & obito interact/fall in love through kamui, i adore this one)
carry this weight by earlier_sunsets (teen & up, focuses on kakashi's grief surrounding the loss of his father and the deaths of his teammates, very sweet/sad)
dogteeth by mothervvoid (mature, kind of scary-mystery au where kakashi discovers some disturbing truths about his mom's clan, v intriguing)
to die. to sleep. to dream by lemony_snickers (teen & up, kakashi contemplates what his infinite tsukuyomi might have been)

💚💚💚 Welcome 💚💚💚
If you end up here I'm guessing you know me from my main @oneinist. After having Tumblr for 2 years now (which was in 2023) I realized I wanted to try to be a bit more organized and post my art and stories only on a side blog and oneinist's works was born. This Tumblr contains a mix of sfw, nsfw and dark content, though nsfw and dark content are far in-between, to make sure you can control what you want to see; for sexually graphic art, the crop will be stamped with a red ichaicha heart ❤️ and for potentially triggering non-sexual art, the crop will be stamped with a greyscale ichaicha heart 🩶. Whether the full image is under the crop or linked will be case by case from what Tumblr allows but always stated in the post. For fanfiction, the post info gives the rating but any warnings and tags will be located on AO3.
My goal is for this to be a fun and safe space for me and anyone visiting so if something is bothering you let me know and I will see if there is a way for me to reasonably accommodate it or not (tags, warnings, and how things are censored mostly come to mind).
Now that the basics have been laid out~~~ My fanart Tumblr archive My Tumblr fanfiction archive or My AO3 works list
Requests - are OPEN as of 2023-12-25 Send me the name of one or two Naruto/Boruto characters (obviously biased for Kakashi and/or Iruka but not limited to and if you feel inspired why not include a prompt while you are at it, for now, nothing explicitly sexual please), and if inspiration strikes I will make an attempt to draw or write about them 📝
Now back to thinking about writing, thinking about drawing, actually writing, actually drawing, thinking about posting and perhaps actually posting ✨🍆💖🐬✨
