Does anyone know any good Lego bulk sellers or sites? (At a ratio of 5 usd per pound or less) in this day and age it's getting tougher to find some bulk Lego at a good price.

More IRL Lego Lancer!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We played the Tomb of Delios one-shot by Katherine Stark. Some NPC comp / sitrep spoilers ahead.
I used the backs of old trivial pursuit boards for grids, egg cartons, poster tubes, and a big Roomba box + insert for terrain.
I coated the cardboard with this flour and glue paste recipe I found on youtube.
I found a bunch of cheap-ish large lego octogons and walls online for the modular buildings, then greebled them with misc urban details I collected from my local bricks & minifigs bulk by-volume bins.
Tumblr media
Our PCs were a Swallowtail artillery (callsign Bandit; an SSC plant in the union auxilliaries), Störtebeker striker (callsign Roadkill, silver-nanite kintsugi'd mechromancer), and Black Witch support (callsign Egret, disgraced princess (gotta be one of my favorite genders)).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The elite cataphract ended up playing trapdoor spider for most of the game; hiding in a magical healing forest (thank u support o7) and grappling PCs back into the forest with it.
Tumblr media
Its scariest turn was popping out, structuring the Bandit and destroying his siege stabilizers, and lassoing it back into the forest. Egret came to the rescue and finally did the cataphract in with perimeter command plate/impact lance/crit thrown tactical knife overwatch combo.
The Swallowtail never took any voluntary movement after deploying its siege stab round 1, but between rainmaker knockback, the aforementioned trapdoor spider incident, and allied ferrous lashes, and a few rams, it was pingponged around the map pretty significantly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Come out Rainmaker, I just want to talk."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The final threat to the objective was when a bastion clambered up onto the pipeline to contest them. The Störtebeker (whose mini was having trouble standing up on the pipeline) pulled an indiana jones and just shot it down.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For the pre-battle narrative section, I made two 4-step clocks out of lego and a minimap as the party visited various districts of the city. Both were totally unnecessary but I think added a lot to the IRL experience.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
All in all, it was a lot of fun! Things that worked well/could be improved on:
The aforementioned mini stability. I should add more baseplates to the minis to making moving and standing them up less finicky.
As cool as the egg carton bottoms are, having flat surfaces is just better. Going to stick with the tops going forward.
The grid ground floor worked great. I should trace more grids onto the egg cartons and larger boxes. I also made a few measuring sticks out of dowels and that was super handy.
Witchdice on phones continues to work well for PC character sheets.
I made a handful of status tokens that we could put next to mechs. They were handy for consumable statuses like lock-on, but less so for memorable ones like exposed and hidden.
We needed more little indicators for misc systems like Javelin Rockets and Iceout Drone.
It was fun to be able to follow up "how do you want to do this" with "you may now destroy the mini".

I have to cut 10 fics, so I’m doing two polls of 10 for the 20 lowest word count fics, and progressing the 5 most voted for fics of each poll onto the tournament. All word counts are accurate as of submission to the tournament.
Link to the other poll
*Full name: Amnesia and Deleted Scenes: The Art of Selective Editing in Film and Memory
Propaganda and links below the cut.
1) Dear Advice Guy - All For The Game
No propaganda
2) first step (series) - Persona 5
GAHHH This series is just. So good. The bulk of it is in the first book, but the second one is a nice little aftermath. Despite the content warnings and stuff, it's like... really wholesome? I had a lot of fun reading it. It's very relatable. I've never seen a better fic. It's paced well and the palace seems like it'd come straight out of persona itself. I can plausibly see it in the game! Extremely well written. And it covers both Akechi and the protags traumas and issues... so good.
3) Devil’s Horns - LEGO Ninjago
Good (angst)
4) dog at the door - 3rd life SMP and Hermitcraft
Of all the fics I’ve read, it’s one of the ones that feels closest to a novel. It’s an exploration of grief, forgiveness, and friendships. It uses symbolism masterfully. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve reread it.
5) Amnesia and Deleted Scenes: The Art of Selective Editing in Film and Memory - Community
No propaganda
6) What the Cat Dragged In - Marvel and Miraculous Ladybug crossover
The best crossover I've ever read. The best Miraculous Ladybug fic I've ever read. Maybe even the best Marvel fic I've ever read. This fic seamlessly combines the two canons to really make them feel like one world, and it has top notch character writing and pacing too.
7) there are many downsides to being a marine biologist - 3rd life, Last Life SMP, and Hermitcraft
fis
8) Oh, Hey There, Mister Blue - MCU: Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor
The Guardians of the Galaxy and Loki. Need I say more
9) Solving Counting Sheep - Evolution SMP
Exploration of personhood and humanity. Main character uses it/it's and this is proof that it is an individual. Made me cry as a trans person.
10) A Complete Kingdom - Supernatural
CHANGED MY LIFE FR. creepy and tragic and surreal and beautifully written. near single-handedly changed what i like to read AND what i like to write

PICREW CHARACTER DESIGN GAME
Tag game! Was tagged by @uncertainwallflower Thanks buddy!
Rules: Make a couple characters (or just one! as many as you want/have time for) from your WIP. Use whatever Picrew suits the vibe best—just make sure to link it. Tag a couple people to do the same.
I used the same template wallflower did. This one
I overlooked the wip part and just made characters of my favs soooo. I mean! I do have a fic where all of these characters (minus Bart) are in! And they get bombed by glitter! Thus the glitter, stickers and sparkles on their faces and around them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I did Tim's twice cuz I didn't notice the throat scar until I was making Jason's but HE HAS A THROAT SCAR NOW HAHAHAHAHAHAHA TITANS TOWER LET'S GOOOOO!!!! JDKFVBEHFEOIJD Also yeah, skater boy Tim is something I will never give up.
AHHHHHHHHHHH THE FRINGE! JASON HAS THE FRINGE!!! I AM SO HAPPY FOR THE WHITE FRINGE I SBHFVHFOEWIL Also, I headcanon that Jason has a pair of glasses cuz he's a nerd (jk, ik that's stereotyping. I just love the concept of him having glasses cuz- LOOKIT HIM! LOOKIT THAT ADORABLE GORGEOUS BULK OF A BOY! I LOVE HIM!)
And yes, Dickiebird is the sunshine boy and the perfect media picture. NYEHHEHEHEHEHEHEHEH ALL OF THE BATKIDS HAVE SCARS HA.
DAMIIIIIIIII!!! And that's a Gotham Academy uniform ^^ This kid is a cute kid which tries not to act cute but lookit him. Adowable baby.
Steph has strawberry earrings. If there were crazier earrings, I would have put it, but there isn't. The earrings are a tribute to the fic I wrote about Steph having matchbox earrings called "Everyone Is On Fire In The End" (I've linked it) I love Steph. She's awesome.
And ofc, our perfect but-behind-the-scenes-is-actually-the-one-who-causes-all-the-shenanigans queen. Cass. And obvi she's gonna have a lot of scars. I was researching which color eyes she had and in the comics so far she has had, blue, green, and brown eyes. So i went with blue cuz... black-haired blue-eyed. Yk?
Alfred!!! I love him. The sassy grandpa butler.
Guess who the one next to Alfred is. HIMBO BRUCIE WAYNE. His scars were from when he tried to kiss a Tasmanian Devil on his trip to Australia ✌️❤️✨ This cannot possibly be Batman. The butts are lying.
Bonus: Cute Bart. He got his scars from trying to one-up Tim in skateboarding.
I went on a ramble. I like rambling. No pressure tags: @sardonic-sprite @tristicorde @wakkoroni @foursixtwonineoh-pieces-of-lego @cygnusdoesthings @mispeltnostalgia @ah0yh0y (turns out, it does exist XD) + whoever else wants to join!!

Why G1 Ended: No "Medium Fans"
New video out on my channel, check it out in the first reblog! Here I argue that the reason why Bionicle Generation 1 ended was that the story was far too scattered across different media, making it too hard to follow in the later arcs. The dedicated fans were willing to put in the effort, but less dedicated fans couldn't.
Meaning there was a relatively small group of superfans, a large group of casual fans who only vaguely followed the story, but very few in between, because the story being scattered meant it wasn't as easily accessible, and there were plenty of people who would've loved it who never got a chance to experience the deeper parts of the story.
And you can see this today in the online fandom, there are plenty of people who were obsessed with the series (like me, and many of us here) and a lot of "oh yeah, those cool robot toys, I liked the Red One."
And I firmly believe that in any franchise, it is these "medium fans" who drive the primary sales for the series, a large bulk of people who really like it, but aren't so invested to seek out every bit of lore they can. Like in Star Wars, you've got the superfans who know all the explanded universe and lore and lightsaber forms and all that, and the casuals who only vaguely follow the series. But you also have the medium fans who saw all the movies and maybe some of the shows, but don't stray too far from the most accessible media.
Bionicle's story was a multimedia extravaganza, but what that meant is there was no place to get the whole story that was available everywhere. Meaning there was little place for medium fans to thrive as it progressed. It says a lot about Bionicle's strength as a story that so many kids who had access to the whole thing became superfans. But the fact is without more casual fans to back them up, superfans can't support a franchise.
Now many people say the solution would've been a tv show, a widely accessible and enjoyable way to get the whole story in order in a single place. And I'd say I agree, at least that a tv show like Ninjago got would've gotten way more people into it. Though I must say, as it was the books were amazing, and the multimedia nature of it gave it a unique charm. I wouldn't change too much of what G1 did, though IF it were to ever come back, I think they'd need to give it a fully funded tv show right off the bat. Not a half-baked mini-series a full year in (looking at YOU Journey to One!)
So with all the buzz of attention around the Tahu Gift with Purchase leaks, the surpirising increase in attention from Lego on social media, and just the general surge in activity in the Bionicle fandom over the last few years, there's so much talk, speculation, and debate about whether or not Bionicle will or even can come back in some form. But with that comes reservations about how it ended the previous two times.
So this is part 1 in a 3-part series I'm making looking at the story-based reasons why Bionicle series have ended in the past, and what could've been done to avoid those failures to ultimately ask what would need to happen for Bionicle to return.
In part 2 I'll look at why G2's story and advertising failed to be captivating to new audiences and why I believe that was the cause of its early ending. And in part 3, I give my conclusions on if and how Bionicle could return in some form, as well as talk about why it might not need to, because the fans have been keeping it alive on their own.

Hello brickcentral community! I'm Laurent Delcroix, this month's guest tip mod and I'm going to save you bricks and space with an item everyone already owns.... a mirror!
If you're like me, you buy LEGOs for 2 things, displaying them and building up bulk for your MOCs!
Unfortunately, it's always hard to deconstruct your display models to get even more bricks for your MOCs!
Who hasn't dreamed of making large LEGO sets that take up a lot of space in the picture and had to give up due to lack of bricks and space...
The solution I found is to use a mirror and it is super simple to implement.
Tumblr media
For each, the use of the mirror is identical: place the mirror at 90° from your MOC and against it.
Place your camera so you can't see it in the mirror and you're done 😀
I told you it was very simple.
Small tip, during the construction of your MOC check the consistency of the repetition by putting the mirror on the side from time to time.
I invite you to go read the blog post as I slipped in a few other tips 👀
I can't wait to see what you do with this tip and don't hesitate if you have any questions!

Seonghwa's Shared Passion
An ATEEZ fanfic by AbsentCaryatid
The reader makes a new friend at the mall, one just as interested in LEGO and K-pop as the reader.
2.2K words, Content note: all ages, gender neutral reader, no reader romance, lots of LEGO mentions, Seonghwa gets San as a romantic partner and the reader is very happy for them.
~
It was the day a life-changing friendship was to be born, but you could not have known that at the time. The lanky man who stood before you bore a staff tag with the name Seonghwa. You had found yourself in his warm presence due to a chance visit to the mall for a quick lunch. With time to spare afterward, you had chosen to stop over at the adjacent LEGO store to see if the 'Dynamite' BTS set was back in stock.
“Still backordered I'm afraid, and no date set for when it might be available again.” As your face fell, the rather stunning clerk nodded sympathetically. “It was a lucky thing I could get mine before the store opened on the day it dropped, a perk of working here, along with the generous staff discount. I'm in the same boat on my Star Wars Razor Crest set though, so I know the production wait can be difficult. Is there anything else I can show you while you are here?”
Picking your jaw up off the floor after recalling the cost of the Mandalorian ship and how much this guy must really like LEGOs, you managed to resume the conversation. “Thank you, no. I devour the online and print catalogs so I'm pretty familiar with all the sets that interest me.” You turned to leave then spun back with a delighted expression. “Actually, I had forgotten I want to work on a new custom build. I like to recreate music video sets from my favorite K-pop groups. Got a little bit behind in ATEEZ releases and I still have to complete last year's final video.”
Seonghwa followed your train of thought with swiftly delivered knowledge on the level of a dedicated fan. “Oh, 'HALAZIA', that one is great.” He even did a little of the hand choreography on the spot. Not particularly smoothly, but Seonghwa was a store employee and not an idol. With a self-effacing little lick of his lips as he seemed to recall what he was supposed to be doing on the clock, he then enthusiastically asked, “You thinking the wet abandoned mall or the stadium for the scene?”
“Eventually I'll build both, but want to start with the stadium because I like the effigy.”
Seonghwa grinned as he made a beeline for the minifigure accessories. “You are going to need this western hat in black then. Wait, forgive me. If you are familiar with recreating scenes for ATEEZ you probably already have the 'HALA HALA' style hat already.”
“I'm not about to raid my 'Say My Name' or 'Answer' builds on display to get those hats so I have been buying them in bulk online every time they show up in a video. Going to need a lot of yellow pennants from the knights range though, and some more drawbridge chains to repurpose.”
With the store otherwise unoccupied, Seonghwa spent the better part of an hour excitedly talking to you as he assisted in finding the best part matches for your planned LEGO build. He impressed you with his knowledge of the full range of specialized parts, an equal to your own expertise from years of play. It felt good to meet a kindred spirit who liked to go beyond the instructions with a hobby of designing free-form creations.
The surprising shared interest in K-pop also had you warming up to the engaging salesperson. You were charmed as Seonghwa felt comfortable enough to disclose his fantasy of being in the popular six-person group ATEEZ. “I like to imagine the idols in a circle dancing to 'HALAZIA' and there I would be in the center right along with them.” The joy left his face. “You probably think I am silly.”
It was the admission that your daydreams ran like that sometimes too which cemented a mutual affection for each other. You became a regular in his store rather than purchasing online, and together would pore over the Pick-a-Brick catalog on his lunch breaks whenever you were nearby. As much as you loved the conversation, you were concerned he needed time off the subject. “Are you sure you are okay with talking LEGO parts over lunch? That means you’re not really getting away from work.”
Touched by your thoughtfulness, Seonghwa beamed and lightly placed a hand on your shoulder. “This is working on a hobby with a friend. We can call each other friends by now, right?” From that day onward you would meet up outside the store for comfortably platonic meals out or visiting each other's homes. Star Wars content and music videos became a typical reason to find yourselves together when not consulting each other on various LEGO projects.
As he again admired the collection of music video dioramas scattered around your apartment, Seonghwa had been the one to suggest sharing photos of the custom builds online. He was convincing and soon you decided to go for it. Immediately popular, the images made the rounds in both LEGO and K-pop circles. Seonghwa was tickled to discover he was credited as a consultant from the 'HALAZIA' model onward, and the next development had him over the moon.
Your latest one-of-a-kind project depicting the 'Bouncy' flaming saloon set got re-tweeted by the ATEEZ account after Yeosang mentioned in a YouTube live that he had seen the impressive photographs. Seonghwa proudly told everyone in sight at work the next day that he had been in charge of procuring all the lights and the little LEGO goat at minifigure Hongjoong's side.
Getting official recognition from KQ and the members themselves felt amazing, but the high was not to last. Seonghwa had some news about rising in his career, and as a dear friend you should have been happy for him.
Holding your hands as he sat across the dining room table at his place, Seonghwa explained the situation. “I'll still be working with LEGOs, but I'm leaving sales work.”
At first you were excited. “With all your building experience, are you going to be a LEGO Certified Professional like you've talked about? Been thinking about doing that myself. It seems like such a cool job getting the budget to dream up massive sculptures for events.”
Seonghwa did that habitual thing licking his lips again, a sign you had learned to recognize as anxiety. “Actually, I have been putting off telling you this, but the job is in LEGO's global headquarters in Denmark. I'm moving to Billund at the end of the month.”
While you tried to be stoic, you were sure he could tell the reaction was mixed as he shared more details of the promotion. This was no mere desk job Seonghwa had qualified for. To become a master builder for the company was an incredible honor and very competitive, but the cost of losing his presence was hard to take.
Wanting to do something special for your friend before he left, you booked Seonghwa a session at the glamour photography studio a few storefronts down from his shop. The few times you had picked him up after work he had often mused about getting one of the K-pop makeover sessions when walking past the studio. Although he played it off as a joke at the time, you had sensed there was a serious longing there.
When you presented him the certificate for the makeover and portrait package he hugged you the longest he ever had. Once pulled back, “Thank you,” was all he could manage, but there were tears of joy in Seonghwa's eyes that said everything.
True friend that he was, Seonghwa convinced you to share the experience because being silly together was far better than alone. So after a significant amount of coaxing on his part, and a promise of dinner out afterward, the two of you agreed anything goes and put your hair and eyebrows in the hands of the artists.
Grinning at each other through the mirrors at the styling stations, you watched Seonghwa transform. He always had been attractive, but in the hands of professionals he looked like a real idol. Gone were the Angry Bird eyebrows he had regularly joked about, now elegantly shaped. Seonghwa's natural hair color had become a white-blond, and between shading and other makeup effects he had become truly stunning.
While you would love to say your transformation had been as dramatic, Seonghwa seemed to be a perfect canvas in a way you did not, but that was okay. It was still a lot of fun, especially together. You were very glad not to have missed this opportunity. It was probably the last day seeing him in person before taking him to the airport within the week.
Hair and makeup got you halfway into character as idols for the day, but trying on various outfits for the photography session completed it. Shared laughter helped reduce your awkwardness when posing, but it was Seonghwa who really took to modeling. He had always seemed poised, but watching him go through a variety of stances and gestures gave you the feeling of watching a pro at work. It was not only you, the photographer herself commented on it in a way that felt genuine and not just part of the service. The resulting portraits alone and as a duo memorialized the fun day.
Far too soon after that Seonghwa was physically gone from your life with his relocation to Denmark. Thanks to technology you could still build together over video calls at least monthly. It took some trial and error but eventually you learned wearing a microphone helped your voices carry over the sound of rustling plastic bricks. As good as the time together was, you were sorely feeling the loss of fully being together in person. Not just his warm hugs, but there was something about Seonghwa's laughter and smiles that were not fully conveyed online.
On one chat you observed a new decoration in his home, hanging behind your friend as he talked. It was a large poster with a mostly familiar image. The six-member team of ATEEZ had surprisingly grown to eight. Seonghwa and another man had been edited into a shot on the 'HALAZIA' stadium set. The spacing was a little wonky after Seonghwa's new neighbor San had used photo editing skills to flip vibrantly red-haired Wooyoung onto the other side of the lineup leaving room to insert the two new fantasy members, but to Seonghwa it was a prized possession. The poster commemorated not just his dreams and time with you getting the K-pop makeover, but also a growing closeness with San who stood alongside him in the revised image.
Meeting San had been such a boon to Seonghwa. The hesitation originally felt over moving to a new country was eased significantly when he had the great fortune to encounter another fellow K-pop and LEGO enthusiast in his apartment building. Even if the Star Wars collection was not San's favorite, no man was perfect. You had listened eagerly to weeks of Seonghwa's developing crush on his neighbor. While some people might have felt replaced, you knew your friendship was as strong as ever, and if anything, it would be great to know yet another person who shared your passions. The way Seonghwa's face lit up every time he spoke of San left you genuinely happy for him.
When Seonghwa hesitated to ask him out, you finally recommended he have San over for dinner as thanks for easing the transition to the new city. Fortunately, San had a similar level of interest and was able to ask Seonghwa out over the course of the successful evening. You cheered as Seonghwa's giddy texts came in afterward, thanking you profusely for helping him along.
It had been over a year since he had left the mall store when Seonghwa suggested you use some of your vacation time to visit Denmark. It took little convincing before you accepted. You missed your best friend, and also there was the matter of wanting to meet the person who had won Seonghwa's heart. The plane ticket would be expensive, but at his partner San's urging the couple decided you had to stay with them while in the country. Going to the LEGOLAND theme park with the lovebirds was a day you would remember forever, but there was one thing even better.
You had thought the LEGO museum would be the trip highlight. Instead, it was getting a tour of the LEGO headquarters where Seonghwa worked. The whimsical environment changed your life. From that point on you changed your career path from LEGO Serious Play facilitator doing corporate training to any role that would lead to your own employment in Denmark. Excited by your plan, Seonghwa had some suggestions for departments best suited to your skills.
It took time, but being reunited with Seonghwa as his newest neighbor after your own move to Denmark was the best feeling ever. Commuting to LEGO headquarters together and working side by side was a dream come true. Things were just as perfect at home. Just as you were not threatened by San's romantic role in Seonghwa's life, kindhearted San was just as warmly understanding of your deep platonic love for his partner. The three of you three of you remained best friends forever, united by shared interests that had brought you and Seonghwa together in the first place.

▪︎Some LEGO Monkie Kid Headcanons!▪︎
It took me long enough to get around to making one of these considering how fiercely I got attached to this series, but here we finally go!
Part 1 Part 2
~
• Tang works part-time at one of Megapolis' libraries.
• Before he actually got the job, he used to spend ALL of his time there (bouncing between there and Pigsy's Noodles as his regular hangouts) and was notoriously a menace to the staff. Think, holding up the front desk for ages to prattle on to the librarian about the books he was checking out, reorganizing entire shelves based on his own "educated" opinion of how they should be arranged and waiting outside the doors for them to open only have to be asked to leave when it was time to close.
• Unfortunately, it was a classic case of the regular who thinks they're beloved, while in reality, the librarians would play rock-paper-scissors to decide who had to check him out. Even those assigned to reshelving returned books when he was there would do so stealthily because as soon as he caught sight of one of them he'd stop whatever he was doing to stroll up and talk for hours.
• And you, of course, can bet he had all of their first names memorized and referred to them as such exclusively.
• The staff had a love-hate relationship with him for the longest time because while he was infamously annoying most of the time, he also did an unnecessary amount of work when he was there. This included putting books back that were left out by other patrons, properly reorganizing shelves, picking up trash, and even beating the librarians themselves to shushing and lecturing unruly patrons
• Tang is far from motivated to actually work and has little to no desire to hold a job at all but when a spot opened up, he applied quickly and got the job because he was literally the first and only person to actually apply. It is only part-time, and he puts in very few hours, probably just working weekends, but it works well with his lifestyle, and he's very content. He was unemployed before, so at least he makes rent now. When he does come into extra cash he spends it all eating out, so he never has a lot of money for anything, but it doesn't seem to bother him because the bulk of his hobbies (I.e reading) don't cost him anything with the library at his disposal anyway.
• Tang is principally incapable of throwing away or watching people throw away books, even ones he would never have any interest in reading, so whenever the library has to get rid of any, whether to make room for new editions or simple replace old copies, he ends up taking them home. For this reason, his apartment is a cluttered mess, with stacks of old books that line his walls and reach the ceiling.
• I'm going to project a little here and die on the hill that MK was homeschooled. He just gives that vibe and I'm living for it. It was by Pigsy and Tang, of course, and that's actually how Tang ended up becoming more involved in MK's life.
• For the longest time, Pigsy was extremely protective of MK, keeping him close to home and determined to provide everything for the kid himself. But when MK was old enough to start needing an education, he began to realize how out of his element he actually was. Pigsy is good at a lot of things, but teaching isn't one of them and it was even harder for him to find time to just sit down with the kid and go over anything while he had his shop to run.
• That's when he finally opened up more to Tang about the whole situation. Tang was more than eager to help, having wanted an excuse to interact more with young MK for the longest time anyway. So they set up a routine, and the better part of MK's "school days" were spent at the counter of Pigsy's Noodles, learning with Tang while Pigsy worked.
• And as you can expect, that's exactly where MK inherited his obsession with the Monkey King. Tang has a bias for history and mythology and taught MK more about those than almost anything else.
• Mei was private schooled, and ironically enough, when her and MK first met and started hanging out, Pigsy thought she was a bad influence. That was until one day when he witnessed young Mei fiercely jumping to young MK's defense, and he's been fond of her ever since.
• Personality wise, I think MK and Mei can both fall into the category of "violently" extroverted.
• Mei's the kind of extroverted that thrives on getting out of the house, meeting new people, and spending time in high-energy environments. She gets bored easily when she's alone, and she hates being bored more than almost anything else. However, she isn't completely opposed to alone time every now if she's upset or needs time to decompress.
• MK, on the other hand, while also extremely extroverted, is extroverted in a much more personal sphere. He thrives on the time he spends with his friends, and playing quite literally to the term extrovert, becomes rather low energy and restless when he has to spend any significant amount of time alone. In other words, he gets lonely fast and easily, and he's extremely clingy, but having at least one other person around that he's close to is enough to keep his spirits up.
• Besides Red Son and Macaque, there's not a single solid introvert in the whole main cast. Pigsy's the only ambivert and Wukong only secludes himself from others out of guilt, he's actually extroverted in the exact same way as MK.

So the Lego "modular" city blocks are a fave theme of mine, and I was looking at the prices for the Town Hall from 2012, and NOPE. NOPE NOPE NOPE. Starting at $500 incomplete and only going up from there, never mind shipping.
I got a lot of spare bits, I'll build my own, thanks. Even if I have to do some Bricklink buys (and I DO and have one already on its way), it'll be way cheaper and more fun since I can do a lot of altering on the way.
Tumblr media
The first floor is nearly done. I still need a lot of 1x8 rail-plates to complete the columns and slanted roof parts. A couple key pieces to finish the double-doors, and I'm debating my planter options. The light-gray 1x3 arches are gonna get replaced with dark-gray. Instead of flat gray walls up front, used masonry-bricks, I think they add a bit o' dignity.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Working on the interior. Using micro-builds from other sets, particularly The Office, to make it nicer inside than the rather plain original. Miiiiiiiiiight pull apart the back wall and go all light-gray masonry-brick like with the front. Which I don't have enough of, at least not 1x4 ones. Nothing but 1x2s would be a structural nightmare. Maybe some art on the left wall.
Tumblr media
Second floor is less done. I've run out of not-small nougat-colored bricks; the original set uses a dark orange, and I like the more subtle lighter look of the nougat. Also I had (had) a shitload of 1x4 and 1x2 masonry-bricks in that color, which are fine for the front and back walls. The side-walls can be plain cuz they're gonna get mooshed up against some other buildings.
Not got much furniture in there yet, but soon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also working on a more elaborate elevator car. The original was basically just a floor, which felt... bad. Gave this one walls and buttons, and an escape hatch. Lacking the Technic piece for the locking mechanism on the back-left corner; once I get that (in the mail now), the design might change depending on how exactly the car sits height-wise at each floor.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The third floor is... whoof. I need a lot of 1x2x2 white windows (in the order), and I have very few nougat bricks in either form left outside of a lot of 1x2s and 1x3s, which is not ideal for big stretches of wall.
The nougat bricks might have to get bulk-ordered. They're surprisingly pricy.
Tumblr media
Made some decent progress on the roof and clock tower. Most of it is done and the parts to complete the gray front and skylights are on order, as is the huge clock face dish.
Tumblr media
Clock tower interior. Was debating putting a bunch of the random Technic gears I have back there, but had no good idea for how to properly attach them to the wall without them sticking WAY out, so ppppffft. One giant Mario gear.
Tumblr media
The original bell tower design was shorter (only two 1x1 cylinders used) plus the bell was affixed to the floor. No thanks. Now the bell hangs, and even better, thanks to the 1x1 round plate/bar, it can even swing from side to side a bit!
I wanted to make a gold bell, but sadly they don't do the 3x3 dish in pearl-gold. Ah well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, all told, getting there. I'm sure I'll tweak it more on the way, there's been tons of light alterations I've made all over the place already.
Also, any excuse to sift through the bulk bit bins at a Bricks & Minifigs. Mmmm.

Ok so, I really adore your interpretations of the characters??? Like how you draw them has so much personality. The way you draw them I just see Cronus as one of those touchy feely lots of physical contact people- not in a creeper or lewd way, but the type who always has an arm around people he likes. Or reflexively holds onto backpack loops and tugs on people’s sleeves.
Then Kankri is there living off of coffee, vegan yogurt, and spite. He’s totally the type to have researched the hell out of different coffees until he found one or two small business growers that fit his ethical standards and bulk buys from them exclusively. Drank it black until somebody asked why and got the mother of all rants about the Sugar and artificial sweeteners industries, then Cronus dug up a sugarcane plant from the side of the road in the middle of the night and gave it to him. And yes, I do think Cronus stealing stuff off the side of the road is a regular thing with him. Bet he’s the type to steal street signs for his room too. Yknow that picture that got popular a while back of that person who stole a whole traffic light? Cronus.
(Also I maybe sorta headcanon Cronus as Asexual and trying way to hard to hide it)
The way you draw Dirk makes me think he’s the type who just… doesn’t listen to his body at all. Lactose intolerant? Eats dairy anyway. Hasn’t slept in 48 hours? About to make that 50. Food? If he must - proceeds to eat One (1) Jello cup. Feels a migraine coming on? He can probably take medicine for that and keep working on the computer. Just… Disaster Human. The only one who beats him out for drinking more energy drinks is Sollux who drinks Monster like water.
Then you draw Dave as just… The Babiest Boy. Like he’s going to use his first paycheck on a Lego star wars death star play set and give it to John when he’s done so he can pretend he’s super cool but still see it. Liked powerpuff girls before the reboot. Wears hoodies and jackets because he gets chilly. Also dumb. Learned he was allergic to bees, immediately threw a stick at a wasp nest in revenge.
Also you draw Vriska like the type of person who’d put fruit punch or apple juice in a fancy glass and pretend it’s alcohol to look ‘cool’ on the internet. Convinced Tavros the grocery store brownies she was eating were weed brownies just so he’d freak out.
I just… really love these little teenage degenerates, and how you draw them makes me remember why I like Homestuck so much.

Firstly thank you for liking my interpretations of characters🥺🥺🥺 Secondly your summary of all these characters is what I live for😇😇😭😭😭😭😭

For the ao3 wrapped, how about 17 and 29? =D
omg thank you for asking!! i really need some human interaction rn
17. Your favorite character to write this year?
I keep saying this and will keep saying it again but Colress is my favorite character to write, period. He's only just now started to make appearances in Icarus, but I have written like 80-90% of a fic exclusively about him and Concordia, Ophelia and the King's Madness, which I have a WIP/doc dump post of on AO3. I have already written other scenes of his in Mother Earth, and I have many more planned that haven't happened yet, especially in the upcoming short stories comp because I have a feeling that's where the bulk of he and Maxie's relationship will manifest.
He is so fucking unpredictable and nuanced and it intrigues me. I love watching him ruin things. I love giving him the tools to ruin them. It's like when you're a kid and you spend countless hours meticulously setting up all these little cards or lego pieces and then just go WHOOSH BAM and it all falls apart all in one go. That's how I feel writing him. And I love it. He is my opportunity to knock down my own little sandcastles and stew chaos in my own realms at every opportunity. This isn't even getting into the shit I have planned for him and Looker in Mother Earth. My god. I just love me some cold ress.
I used to struggle writing Archie, but I've slowly grown a new appreciation and understanding of his character, especially looking into where Mother Earth is going. So I'm just gonna give him a shoutout here too.
29. Favorite line/passage you wrote this year?
I'm torn between the preview I released of the sequel of my hardenshipping fic, Mother Earth and Her Infinite Sky or the one I released for the prequel to Exile//Vilify, Trouble Will Find Me. I had been equally sitting on both of them for a while, and am equally hyped for/proud of both of them. Trouble Will Find Me is a little more niche because it's basically JUST about the Order of the Seers, and little to nothing to do with Astor or the rest of Hyrule, but yet, that's what I kind of like about it. It's basically original fiction, though I'm going to explore some of the lore/worldbuilding aspects of pre-botw's Hyrule, if that makes sense?
If I had to pick just one passage from my Pokemon series, it would be Interlude, II - Lifeline from Icarus and the Blistering Sun. Not only does it mention Colress and really begin to vague at/establish Maxie's troubled past, especially in regards to him, it echoes so many other things in the series and Icarus itself if you read it closely. There's lots to really pull apart there, if you really wanted to. "What sacrifices are you willing to make in order to be successful?" "Near tearing lip to meet the iron in his flesh." I could go on.
There's also another interlude scene in Icarus coming up in a few chapters that I'm very excited about and in the process of writing right now. It's in regards to how Maxie and Archie ended up obtaining the Red and Blue Orbs.
Thank you for asking!!

I've been thinking about LEGO Universe a LOT more lately and I never posted these quick concepts before so might as well talk about them :D (i have lots of other concept sketches so let me know if that's something i should post more of...)
Welcome to the Prime Marshes, located in the outskirts of Crux Prime and bordering the Maelstrom Sea. This massive swamp is home to horrible Stromlings and only apt for highly equipped Nexus Force operatives.
More under the cut...
The Prime Marshes are a dangerous place, being so close to the Maelstrom Sea makes it a perfect ground to spawn those who would invade the mainland of Crux Prime.
Swamplings are the bulk of the Maelstrom Horde in this land, they're durable and powerful, if not too swift due to the mud and ooze that covers them. But agents must be careful, as this ooze will move onto their targets too, promptly slowing them down. A swarm of Swamplings could be fatal for anyone caught in their attacks.
But perhaps more dangerous are the Swarm Boss type Stromlings, the Lurker, sometimes also referred to as a Maelstrom Octopus. Lurkers are giant masses of Maelstrom corruption that haunt large bodies of water in the marshes. They will attack with their tentacles, hold onto their targets, and if all else fails, use the hidden bite of their eye's teeth as a last resort. This eye is their weak spot, but is incredibly difficult to attack. Recommended action is to destroy the tentacles before attempting an attack here.
Many of the Invader Stromlings that attack Crux Prime come from these murky waters, and it is the Nexus Force's duty to push them back, traverse the corrupted landscapes, explore the great hollow trees, and halt the Darkitect's offense.

20240114: the History of LEGO Castle 014. 6073 Knight's Castle (1984, 416 pieces, 93 different parts) The Knight's Castle is the first of the light gray castles. The set features an openable castle with two rear towers and a red gate with a black drawbridge. The bulk of the castle is built with the 17 large 2x5x6 panels and the remaining is built with smaller bricks. Under the back rear tower is a very small jail with a black door. Two green and white flags fly from each of the rear towers. The set also includes six minifigures, four of which have the blue torso with the silver and black halved falcon design with black arms and the other two are knights, one with a black torso and black arms and the other with a blue torso with black arms. Two of the guards are archers and two are spear-wielders. I don't think I can adequately describe how excited young me was to be able to go into the stores and open the flap to stare at the LEGO parts inside. I would look at the back of the box and all the things you could build and the minifigures inside. I remember I would spend so much time in the toy aisle of any store, just picking up and staring at the boxes. This set is small, durable, portable, and so very cool. With two knights and a white and black horse, the four guards, and the hinges, this set is a lot of fun. Though, it doesn't have any way for the minifigures to get from the base of the castle to the walls, nor a way to get up to the top of the towers. Parts lists for this set can either be found on BrickLink or Rebrickable, while scanned instructions can be found at ToysPeriod. If you want to know more about the designer, Daniel August Krentz, BrickSet did a really nice tribute and has a full list of everything he designed.
