My year 11 exams start tomorrow! I have 4 in the first week, but then only 1 in the second week, which is actually kind of nice. I am completely dead meat for physics, but the rest are looking ok for now! I am also picking up a new hobby (crochet). It is in fact a challenge, but hopefully I can actually learn how do do it properly! I'll probably have more of a go after exams though.

yes I do. I love physics. I love it bc I was raised by a brainiac engineer mother who taught me to see math as fun from a very young age. and sometimes it pisses me off bc I don’t understand concepts immediately and my ego is HURT but then I humble myself and learn it and I’m back to adoring it again

#I did an independent study in a biophysics lab for a semester which was cool #I do orgo research now but I think so much of being a good researcher is integrating methods from different disciplines #and this will probably apply for when I’m a doctor too #I was never an ‘ewww I hate MATH’ person like I literally took advanced physics & calculus classes willingly bc it was so fun #which is why I was so mad when the whole girl math trend happened. what is girl math. what do you mean #I just despise the trend of girls being corralled into less math based fields bc of this. i swear i wouldn't even know how to describe my character creating process to someone. i was high-key dreading coming up with the personalities for all of the teachers i need to write for the school year, not because it'd be hard but because that takes time.

right now, I'm choosing classroom seating arrangements that make the most sense for the scenes and narratives I have planned for the school year. my seating arrangements are influenced by the subject of the class and which characters the player will be interacting with. but just now... i realized... it makes sense to let the classroom seating arrangements influence the personalities of the teachers, doesn't it? 😂😂

A class of curves

During my thesis, researching ways of flow around rocks and ships near the surface of water, I found a set of equations that can be used to model these weirder shapes. One example was the lemon curve, which you saw as the cricket ball simulation I showed earlier. The other is a generalised version of these that allows one to customise the location of bumps on the surface of the solid. The following plots were made in python.

Why are they important? ↓

It is important that when you model obstacles, you do so with at least second-differentiable functions, which means that they can be differentiated at least twice without behaving badly.

This is due to the nature of equations used to model fluids, called the Navier Stokes equations, which is based on Newton's 2nd law of motion, the force applied on an object is proportional to the acceleration (which is where the 2nd derivative comes into play).

Mathematical Methods

Mathematical Methods is a Maths course in Australia commonly taken in the last two years of secondary school.

It is the equivalent to taking AP Calculus AB in America. In the UK, A-Levels Mathematics (*) goes a little more in depth than Methods.

Here are a few techniques that should help gain one’s understanding in Methods.

My final methods exams are now 4 days away, which is unbelievably terrifying.

The good news is that the holidays unlocked motivation (and fear) within me that I genuinely did not think I had. As a result, I've done 42 practice exams :)

The goal is 45 by wednesday (the day of the skills exam), which is looking quite likely, so honestly a win is a win.

I'm very nervous but it's going to be over soon and then no more methods ever again!

With the assumption of they don't wear a bra themself, who can take a bra off?

Alex can but it takes them a few seconds and they use both hands.

Avery can do it with one hand and without looking, but prefers their partner takes it off.

Bailey could, if they wanted to. But they don't. Either leaves it on or tears it off.

Eden claims they can and resorts to tearing it off because they're impatient. They cannot. They don't want anyone to witness them fumbling with the clasp.

Great Hawk does not and will rip a bra to shreds.

Not only can Kylar not unhook a bra, their hands are shaking too hard to do it even if they could. Might end up cutting it off in their eagerness. Doesn't even stop to think about how expensive it might be. Keeps the fabric.

Leighton can. Leighton can do it with one hand, while their partner is still clothed and moving. They've had practice.

Remy might be able to but they prefer to pull it off. If it tears, they don't care.

Robin fumbles a bit but it doesn't take them long to catch on.

Sydney is a mess. Pure Sydney is having a rough time, blushing hard and hand shaking. Corrupt Sydney is only slightly better but they honestly might rip their partner's bra off that first time. They don't mean to, but they're excited! They offer to replace it.

Whitney can but they won't. They also prefer ripping and tearing. They're an asshole.

Wren can and will. They can do it through a person's clothes, and they will. Like creeping a hand up the back of of their partner while making out and undoing their bra. Would keep it as a souvenir.

[Bonus]

Anxious Guard cannot.

Briar can but prefers their partner strips for them.

Doren can but might accidentally rip it. Feels terrible and will replace it.

Harper fumbles. Don't mention it.

Mason can. Might rip it. Might be an accident, might not.

Methodical Guard uses two hands with rather surgical movements.

Relaxed Guard can with ease. Won't say no to it staying on, though. They think it's hot.

River can but they're also shaking a little.

Sirris can. Can unhook it with their teeth.

Veteran Guard can but prefers tearing them off. Likes the control aspect of ripping their partner's clothes.

Winter can. One handed, doesn’t even have to look

I really hope they also did Qiongqi Path because “we have to solidify the Yiling Patriarch’s status as an indiscriminate murderer to cover our tracks” is the ONLY reason that making WWX lose control and set corpses loose on everyone at Nightless City—a place where THEY ALSO ARE LOCATED—is anything approaching a sensible choice. Like. What are they even trying to accomplish otherwise.

I drew the picture in the background in 2015. The title is "Digital vs. analog - The innermost". It depicts the interplay of "opposites" at different recursion levels:

Black vs. White

Black-white (like a boolean B or W) vs. Monochrome (like x%B and y%W) (shades of grey)

On top of that photocopy of my drawing from 2015 I added a puzzle piece-shaped tile with the words: "The whole is more than the sum of its parts, as it contains both the parts as well as the interaction patterns between the parts." as top layer. (I drew the puzzle-piece-shaped tile and quote last year.)
