Hey, if I put my character playlists on here properly, would yall like that? They're mostly video game music, classical, and instrumental jazz, depending on the character. Each is about 6-ish hours. Idk, I just always have a hard time finding a playlist with the right vibes, but maybe these will work for you all

Oh hey so I made a playlist that's over 600 hours long worth of music playlist videos songs and videos for every single musical emotion a writer might need.
If anyone wants it let me know. Comment, rb let me know. I'm also always adding new stuff to it.
I do take requests. If you make these youtube playlist videos I'll add you to the big masterlist if I like the selection.
You can actually see my music taste as it develops and fandoms I'm in. I've had this playlist for I think 3 years now. Like how at first I avoided playlists with swearing in them. And as I got more comfortable with being ace and also enjoying other things. You'll find videos with 400 views, 12million views, the most specific things.
Feel free to make requests for more genres to add. Just send an ask.

DD, I love that you're here with us on Tumblr. I was curious - Do you listen to music when you write? Do you have a memorable track you'd be willing to share for action scenes? or three ;)
I wish I could be more specific about this, but my musical tastes while writing sprawl all over the place.
(With this caveat: there are times when I absolutely cannot have music or any kind of background noise going, except the benign and ignorable sort that comes in cafes where I might be working. This is usually because I’m writing something unusually dialogue-heavy, and the music interferes with my ability to hear the characters' "voices".)
When doing just average ploughing-through-it-to-get-a-draft-finished writing (as at the moment), I tend to listen to a lot of Baroque-period stuff. Telemann, Corelli, Vivaldi, the various Bachs, Purcell, Handel, Scarlatti, Pergolesi, et al. No vocals, ideally: instrumentals only, when possible. (Though I did once accidentally write a fairly effective space battle to the "Dies irae" from Mozart's Requiem.)
When writing action sequences, I favor film soundtracks...if possible, not ones that already have strong visual or plot connotations (so while I love John Williams most dearly, that rules out a lot of his work). Films from the 1940s and 1950s are good for me in this regard. (f you look down this page, and this one, you'll see the kind of things I'm talking about.) ...Then of course we start to get into the 60s, and there's a lot to love there (I dote on Morricone: also Lalo Schifrin and John Barry, though not his Bond stuff, again because it's too connotated).
...As I say, it's hard to get specific: there's just too much that I like. :) Sorry[not-sorry] about that.

This song is the soundtrack to any serious Seto/Mokuba argument imo. Intense and heartbreaking, because if these two ever fought about anything big, they would tear themselves and each other apart.

Did I ever explain how the Disturbed cover of "Sound Of Silence" was my first known autism song? Like, the one where you stop and sway mindlessly no matter where you are because it hits that deep? The recent post about Iris by The Goo Goo Dolls made me remember. Iris made everyone do that, though.

Musical Interludes
Pro tip: Like music? Like streaming music? Like FREE streaming music? Like FREE streaming music that doesn't ad-bomb you every thirty minutes (except for some very short station ID type things)?
Let me direct your attention to Soma FM.
They are a donation-driven streaming music radio empire. Seriously. If you love ambient, they've got several stations devoted to many different subgenres of ambient. If you love soul music, metal, Indian, techno, reggae, folk, 80's, dang near anything you can think of, Soma is a goldmine. They play 24 hours a day with crystal clear quality. Get yourself a music player that can play streaming by inputing a URL, get the link from the channel pages and you're golden. I use a player called AIMP (also free) on both my desktop computer and my phone. There are NO ADS. Just a station ID that's maybe 5 seconds out of every hour, and it never interrupts the music. If you love it and you can do so, donate to help them keep going. If you can't donate, just enjoy the music.
I've been listening for YEARS and these people are saints. I am not joking. They're saints. I used to donate $8 a month because I love it so much, I had it on autopay. Now that I'm heading into a decent job again I'll start that autopay again in a month or two. Soma is hands down one of the best resources for a writer who can just put on the music and forget there's such a thing as time. Hours and hours of space music, for FREE.
I'll always give these people the love and the recs, because they're genuinely worth it. Thank you and props to Rusty, he's a god among men!

As I sit here listening to the sounds of different musicians, I come to the scary yet intriguing realization that I’ve consistently come to. These such sounds have a profound way of temporarily transporting you to a land of which no one but you can see. Even if only for a moment you are able to live through the life of a person not yourself, or maybe yourself, to give yourself just a bit of reprieve from the constant pressures of living as. Though it ends quickly, I always find it enjoyable and pleasant.
Or I just space out that easily when Im supposed to be writing before work. Either way. Its fun

Playlists and stuff for writing - Dungeon Synth's gold mine pt.1
youtube
No need for introduction with Dungeon Synth Archives and their awesome mix xD This one works well if what you need is neat, "Bach-esque" background music playing while you work at your last Medieval flavoured adventure. Also, great stuff for studying and planning, too. Enjoy!
