Across the Universe
"Like a flash of light
In the endless night..."
"Anesthesia" from Life is Killing Me
Amongst the twinkling stars of the universe, there exists the flickering fragments of a series of moving images in which a face looms from the darkness and celebrants dance around a group of musicians, doing the Batusi.
These flickering fragments join the ever-expanding bubble of commercial radio and television transmissions that have slipped loose of the bonds of the Earth's atmosphere and are moving outward to spread enigma through the universe.
Moving at the speed of light, these fragments have travelled further than Voyager 1, and, are presently lapping at the shores of whatever planets may be orbiting 61 Ursae Majoris.
And, from there, to the limitless cosmos.
Some day, some sentient being on another world will experience the moving images comprising the video for "Black No. 1" for the first time.
At least by that point in time, they will have also experienced The Three Stooges, Looney Tunes, and Monty Python's Flying Circus...
Requiescat in pace
Peter Thomas Ratajczyk
(January 4, 1962 - April 14, 2010)
The images of your looming "Great and Powerful Oz"-like visage, stripe-y pirate shirt (Yo Ho!), and ginormous... upright... bass.. will live on to eternity- or at least until they are lost to a black hole (or is that the album cover for Origin...?)

273. Inn of the Vaticide - Black Eucharist (Black Metal, 2023)
Art by Jan Baptist Weenix: "The Circumcision of son of Moses", ca 1640
He was a painter of the Dutch Golden Age. His favourite subjects were Italian landscapes with large figures among ruins, seaside views, and, later in life, large still life pictures of dead game or dogs. He was mainly responsible for introducing the Italian harbour scene into Dutch art.

Trinity Of Terror Tour Part III- Featuring Ice Nine Kills, Black Veil Brides, Motionless In White & Atreyu
This is a triple co-headlining tour featuring Ice Nine Kills, Black Veil Brides and Motionless in White with featured guests Atreyu. This is the third leg of this tour. The bands previously brought Crown The Empire, We Came as Romans, and Lilth Czar (select dates only). I’m excited to see what Atreyu has in store for this part of the tour. They are one of the many bands that helped form my taste in music today. One of the first songs I ever heard from them was “Congregation of the Damned.” Black Veil Brides is another band that I have been anticipating to see, they were one of my guilty pleasures growing up. I’m excited to see how the band has progressed since I listened to them as a teenager.
Atreyu is a metalcore/hard rock native to California but according to front man Alex Varkatzas “I don't think we fit into any genre. I think we are hard to pin down. When we first started it was a little easier. We were a metallic hardcore band with singing parts. There wasn't any else like that when we were doing it. The band has been around since 1998. This band has released eight studio albums to date. Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses (2002) to their latest album Baptize (2021). Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances with the venue I was unable to capture photos of Atreyu’s set.
Setlist:
Strange Powers of Prophecy
Baptize
Becoming the Bull
Right Side of the Bed
The Time Is Now
Ex's And Oh's
Save Us
Falling Down
Battle Drums
Warrior (with Zero 9:36)
I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me) (Whitney Houston cover)
Blow
Motionless In White aka MIW is a heavy metal band from Scranton, PA. The band formed in 2005 while in high school. The band is best described as a blend of metalcore, gothic metal, and industrial metal. They have also been called "horror-metal”. Motionless In White has six albums to date, the most recent one being Scoring The End Of The World. As the band was taking the stage, fans were still pouring into the venue. Some fans waited hours before they could go into the show and still missed out on part of their set. I was also unable to take photos of Motionless In White due to unforeseen circumstances. During their set, Motionless In White stepped up, taking their performance to another level adding theatrics to their performance that we haven’t seen before the Trinity Of Terror Tour. Chris Motionless pulls out a pride flag as they closed out the song “Voices.” During other songs like “Cyberhex” the band had dancers join them, waving flags and lights around. Before the band started playing “Dead as Fuck” the band got the crowd to join them in a chant saying D-E. A-D as the song continued the dancers came back out with a surprise, after changing outfits to look like zombies. They took part in throwing candy out to the crowd. At the end of the band’s set, they came out with something extra special for the fans. When they played “Eternally yours” they threw a dozen roses out into the crowd. You can also check out our previous coverage of them while they were on the Part II of The Trinity Of Terror Tour (done by Leah Dobson) & The Diseased and Disguised Tour.
Setlist:
Disguise
Sign of Life
Slaughterhouse
Werewolf (with Saxl Rose)
Voices
Cyberhex
Masterpiece
Dead as Fuck
Another Life
Somebody Told Me (The Killers cover)
Eternally Yours
Black Veil Brides is also a California native. They are an American rock band that debuted 2006 and dropped their first album in 2010 with the release of We Stitch These Wounds. The band also released their latest album The Phantom Tomorrow and The Mourning in 2021. Black Veil Brides discusses topics aimed at people who feel like outcasts in society. Former Bassist Ashley Purdy stated “We carry a message of believing in yourself and letting no one tell you otherwise. We stand up for the underdog and the disenfranchised. Anything strange, odd, or unique… we embrace that. So basically, standing up for yourself; have fun and live your life how you choose. You only have one life, make the most of it.” When it was time for Black Veil Brides to take the stage, the energy from the crowd intensified. During their 4th song “Devil”, Jinxx came out on stage playing an electric violin, I would have to say that is my favorite part of their set due to playing violin in high school. The band overall was less interactive with the crowd until a fan passed out. Andy stopped their set; he called for an EMT and didn’t leave that side of the stage for a while. After the fan was taken care of the band came back out on the stage together while Andy made an announcement “Drink some water and please take care of yourselves tonight.” The band unfortunately had to cut their set short due to this.
Setlist:
Crimson Skies
Coffin
Faithless
Devil
Shadows Rise
Scarlet Cross
We Stitch These Wounds
Knives and Pens
The Legacy
Fallen Angels
In the End
Ice Nine Kills is a heavy metal band from Boston, Massachusetts. The band formed back in the year 2000, they are known for their horror inspired lyrics. The band was originally known as Ice Nine, until they debuted their first album Last Chance To Make Amends that’s when they decided to change their name to Ice Nine Kills. They also had a different style when they first pursued music, the band was ska-punk. The band has now shifted into who they are today, Ice Nine Kills has described itself as "theatricore.” Ice Nine Kills is a band that I’m glad I was able to come out and see their performance. I understand why a lot of people love this particular band. When they band came out on stage they had animal masks on. They also had an actor come out on stage, which Spencer the singer of Ice Nine Kills interacts with on and off. Spencer had a handful of different props to display the “killings” from a shovel to a chainsaw. The fans were also dressed for the occasion too, some of them dressed up as Chucky, Michael Meyers, Pennywise and some even had their official silence masks on. Ice Nine Kills performance has been described as “It’s the perfect experience for the metalheads with a passion for horror games.”
Setlist:
Funeral Derangements
Wurst Vacation
Hip to Be Scared
Ex-Mørtis
IT Is the End
Stabbing in the Dark
The Shower Scene
A Grave Mistake
Farewell II Flesh
The American Nightmare
The Trinity Of Terror Tour part 3 is only running until December 10th! We were also fortunate enough to have another Concerthopper, Leah Dobson, cover this leg of the tour.
