day in the life w bf!jude but your sick and not well/feeling so down. jude being all caring and protecting while you are mentally drained and hurt (like my throat LMAO) he’s all taking care of you and immediately on bf protection mode. when you wake up, to when you’re both out, to when you’re both visiting his moms, showering, to when it’s time for bed . then before bed he’s holding you so comfortably, endlessly asking if your okay or if you need anything or to take your thoughts on the pain away, asking you want to watch something w him?
would be the biggest and softest bf ever :(( NEED HIM NOW 😔😔
it was strange to jude you hadn’t woken up early, in the kitchen either on your online class or making your gifted smoothies. it was almost 11am when jude returned from his morning run, walking into your shared room where your were completely tucked in your sheets, head barely peaking as you slept.
jude frowned, walking quietly and sitting on the bed, where you didn’t budge. “y/n? darling? you okay?” he whispered, brushing his fingers on your cheek and tucking your messy and all over the place hair back. you groaned turning away from him, ducking under the covers, “let me sleep! it’s so early jude!” you complain.
“it’s almost 11:30 love…” jude reclaimed, running his hand and massaging the middle of your bare back. “so? still early…” you tried to defend but ended up sneezing and sniffling. “are you sick?” asked jude, immediately opening your night desk drawer and looking for cold and flu pills. it explained your mood and tiredness.
“shh stop talking… my head hurts really bad jude,” you whined, covering your ears. you hated being sick, and it was super rare when you did. though when you were, it was the worst. constant headaches, runny nose all day, congested nose and throat, and body chills, aches all over, which made it hard to do anything. “sit up for me, i have some medicine,” jude ordered listening to your protest but doing as he said.
he opened the bottled water, placing the 2 pills in your mouth and helping you so the water wouldn’t fall or spill. your eyes remained closed, knowing the light would cause more pain. jude gently rubbed your eyes, and brought you to his chest. “promise you, you’ll feel better soon…” he placed a kiss on your temple, rubbing the sides of your arms, “especially if you take a hot bath and eat something.”
“i’m not hungry,” you dismissed shaking your head, “i know but the medicine won’t have any affect if you have no food here,” jude tickled your tummy hearing you let out a small giggle. “drink more water,” he helped you again, seeing as you almost drank it all. “cmon i have to shower too, i’ll help you baby,” he picked and helped you to the bath.
jude softly scrubbed your skin and washed your hair, paying close attention to you being soft with his movements. he loved to take care of you, returning the affection especially when you did it to him after his games or long travels. he massaged your back and neck, feeling the tension go away after. “it feels so nice jude,” you praise, wanting to return the favor but he wouldn’t allow you, saying he didn’t want you to lift a finger.
jude then also helped with your hair care and skincare, knowing you would cause a fuss if you didn’t at least have any moisturizer on. helping you change into some loose and comfortable clothes after rubbing your skin with lotion. “do you want some herbal tea your mom brought us? it will make you be able to digest some food and clear your sinus?” jude spoke softly, seeing as you nodded.
while he prepared and made some soup, he brought you a warm blanket and your tea, setting it down along with some cookies, and antibiotics incase you had an infection or virus. “do you need any help?” you pout feeling bad as he was doing all this work after his game the day before. “no love, i have it handled. i just want you to rest okay? you need to or else how are you going to get better?” he quoted your words when he was injured. you let out a small smile, “thank you, handsome,” your leaned up and hugged him tight.
“we still have stuff to do. we need to go grocery shopping and visit your mom, i promised her to join her later today,” you recalled, sitting up and holding your head. “you can’t go out like this!-”
“i wasn’t asking. i was telling you. i have put it off for so long and there’s barely any groceries left. it will be quick and easy, same with your mom! she needs one on one girl talk and i haven’t seen her in so long,” you tell jude to where he rolls his eyes at your stubbornness. “one on one girl talk? about what?”
“it’s called one on one girl talk for a reason jude… we can leave a little later okay? i’m feeling way better compared to the morning,” you admit, standing up but jude ushers you to sit down, taking your mug to the sink and washing it for you. “i can’t talk this one out of you right?”
“nope,” you deadpanned.
jude made your warm soup, organizing and cleaning up the kitchen so it wouldn’t be a mess. writing down stuff that was missing from the refrigerator, pantry, and other necessities, making note to also refill your medicines. he insisted you wear a jacket, knowing the grocery store would be cold and he couldn’t risk you getting a deep cough and sickness.
“what else is left?” jude asked, placing different veggies in their bags into the cart. he was in charge of bagging and you crossing off items on the list. “new toothpaste, cases of waters and juice, and your snacks,” you read off, following jude as he filled the bottom with water and juice like you said.
“i know i can be annoying when im sick, but thank you for taking care of me,” you said, feeling overwhelmed with joy and happiness to have a boyfriend like jude. he was patient, loving, helping, and sooo protective. he wanted you to feel safe and cared for by his side and he never failed to do that.
“see that’s what we’re not going to do,” said jude when you rejected his kiss, he grabbed your face a placed a messy kiss on your lips. “don’t care if i get sick, just need you to know i’ll do anything for you okay? sick or not,” jude hugged you, as you waited in line to pay.
after returning home and unpacking, you took a small and well needed nap. jude doing some laundry and placing it where it goes, watering your plants and worked out. he also took you to his moms after you insisted, where you guys talked for hours and then did some re-arranging in the house. if there was one thing jude loved, it was watching his two favorite girls get along so well, sharing laughs and making new memories.
you fell asleep once again in the car ride home on jude’s lap, jude massaging your scalp where you fell into a deeper sleep. he carried you to the room again, changing you into a long sleeve and some shorts, also helping you brush your teeth and take the night pills for your cold and headache. “wait for me here okay? gonna make sure everything is off,” he kissed your head.
he brought back a warm blanket and waters, doing his own night routine before joining you in bed. you immediately looked and seemed for comfort on him, resting your side and head on his chest, eyes closing softly wanting to stay up with up. jude held you tight, so in love and infatuated with your beauty even when sick.
“how are you feeling?” jude asked, running his hand along your spine, tracing shapes, and holding you close to him. “mmm better, but my headache returned in the car… and before you worry, the medicine is helping though,” you reassured him, knowing he would be quick to jump out the bed to help you. you loved when he was clingy and just so protective like this. especially when it was about you. “i’m gonna be waking up every now and then to check in on you okay? if you don’t feel better by tomorrow we’re booking an appointment,” he said seriously.
“okay jude,” you nodded, your hand resting on his chest as you felt your sleep return again. it was a long night for you the day before, so sleep is what you planned to do this night, to catch up on it. “if you don’t feel good, just me me know okay? i don’t care if it’s the smallest pain or ache.”
“i promise i will jude.”
“do you need anything else before we go to sleep?” he whispered, “no jude. im right where i want to be,” you smiled, kissing his chest and then a longing kiss on his lips. “we can watch a movie in the mean time? your choice,” you relaxed in his hold, grabbing the remote for him. jude scrolled and scrolled for minutes, finding the perfect movie to end the hectic day.
not even 5 minutes in, you had fell asleep, brows pulled in and a small pout as you rested soundly. you tried to stay up for him but the medics had done it’s job and jude couldn’t complain. him to was tired, after watching a few more minutes he turned off the tv, charging your phones and bringing you up close to him, careful to not wake you.
“sweet dreams darling…”

You tapped your pencil against the blank answer sheet, subconsciously rubbing your runny nose on your sleeve.
Your headache wasn't intense enough to call 'splitting' but it was bad enough to be a distraction. While you were out sick the maths teacher had covered new material while you were out, and you understood none of it.
You sniffed and reached for your glass of water, your throat was dry and itchy but almost nothing you drank helped in the long run. You rubbed your eyes and tried to turn your attention back to your work, but it was a lost cause.
You laid your head down on your desk, using your arms as a pillow.
The window opened while you were cradling your aching head. You sniffed again, which instantly caught Donnie’s attention. “What’s wrong? Did someone say something to you? Are you hurt?”
You cut off his concerned questioning with a sneeze, which made him calm down the smallest bit.
“You look terrible,” he noted. You shot him a half-hearted glare while taking a large gulp of water. “Not like that. I just- I mean you look really sick.” You would have laughed if it didn’t mean feeling nails scratching the inside of your throat.
He was always like this, shy and a little jittery, even though you’ve been together for a few months. It’s endearing, in Donnie’s own way,
He glanced at the clock in your room, and then back at your tired figure. “Shouldn’t you already be sleeping?”
You let out a small groan, “I guess…”
“How long have you been working?” He asked, stepping closer to your desk.
“Not that long-” you slurred and took another sip of water “-since seven I think.”
Judging by Donnie’s face, it was quite a bit past seven already.
“You really need some sleep-”
“I know.” You snapped, then let out a sigh, noticing his hurt expression. "I know,” you repeated, softer this time, “It’s just - this homework needs to be finished for tomorrow and-"
"Tomorrow's Saturday."
"...Oh." You both let out a small chuckle and you immediately reached for your water.
Laying down on your bed, you stared up at the ceiling and let out a sigh. “I’m sorry we couldn’t do anything tonight, D.”
“It’s fine,” he responds quickly, “It’s not like you chose to get sick.”
“See you next week?”
He gave you a quick nod before jumping out of your window and onto the roof, only to be met with all three of his brothers waiting for him.
Leo stood front and centre, his arms crossed over his plastron. “Care to explain?”
“Um, well you see, the thing is- smoke bomb!” The egg landed at their feet, exploding into a cloud of black and purple fog.
“Donnie!”
“So not cool, dude.”
“He is getting pummeled when we get home.”

Hot soup and massages.
Pairings: Natasha x you
Words: 1829
Warnings: none that I know of.
Summary: you take care of Natasha in one of her most vulnerable moments.
Notes: edited, but not thoroughly so I apologise for any mistakes.
Tumblr media
You let out a soft exhale through your nose as you carefully trail the pad of your thumb over the shell of Natasha's ear. The warm water of the shower flows over the both of your bodies, hitting the tiled floor with a quiet splatter. Natasha's eyes were closed as she lounges comfortably in your arms, but you knew that she wasn't asleep. You could tell by the constant sneezes and sniffles she was trying yet failing to stifle against you.
The poor thing was currently suffering with one of the worse colds she'd ever had. It had started innocently enough. A sore throat. A runny nose. A few complaints of a small headache in passing, but that was it. But then it had grown into stuffed sinuses, nausea, body aches and one hell of a temperature, and medicine could only do so much.
It was why you were curled up on the shower floor with the water running as hot as it would go, Natasha sat between your parted legs with her head resting on your chest just beneath your chin. It wasn't the most comfortable position, nor was it the most sanitary, but Natasha seemed somewhat at ease for the first time in hours so you weren't going to complain.
"Hh'itshhiew!" Natahsa lets out an unstifled sneeze onto the open shower floor, and you internally coo as you reach up to wipe away the snot on her cupids bow with the pad of your thumb before rinsing it off beneath the water. By now, your fear of catching whatever she had was out of the window.
"Bless you, baby." You murmur, and Natasha's lips quirk up ever so slightly at the corners as she attempts to snuggle more into you. You welcome her closeness, pressing a tender kiss to the top of her red tresses as you trail your hand gently over the bare, wet skin of her thigh.
"How are you feeling?" You wonder as you begin preparing to get you both out of the shower. You'd been in here about forty five minutes now, and you knew it was only a matter of time before the water began running cold. The last thing you wanted was for this cold to progress into the flu.
Natasha coughs hoarsely against you before letting out a sigh, "The same. But my chest isn't as tight anymore." Her voice was still raspy, but she no longer sounded as congested which brought you some relief.
"That's good," you smile softly. "Are you ready to get out? It's about time for some lunch." You had made some tomato soup that had been simmering away on the lowest heat for about an hour now, and whilst you knew it would be unlikely Natasha would be able to taste it, getting something substantial into her body was your main concern. She’d yet to eat today and it was already two in the afternoon.
"Mhh." Natasha nods tiredly as she attempts to sit up, and you place a steady hand on her back as you rise to your feet and turn off the shower. After drying off your hands with a towel, you place them beneath her armpits.
"Ready?" You ask, leaning down to once again kiss her head, waiting for the nod of confirmation before easily lifting her unsteady frame to her feet. "There we go." You sooth, reaching for the warm towel you'd left in the warmer before securing it around her shoulders. She automatically leans into you, and you wrap a supporting arm around her waist as you reach for your own towel.
Once you were secure and covered, you lead her into the bedroom and ease her down onto the bed. She automatically lays down and curls herself up small, and you pout slightly as you give her behind a few gentle pats before heading into the closet with the intention of grabbing you both some clothes.
You were soon dressed, clad in a pair of leggings and oversized shirt, and you head over to the bed and set down the clothes you'd picked out for Natasha. A pair of light cotton shorts and a tank top.
"Baby?" You attempt to rouse her, sitting yourself down onto the bed and tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. Her red tinged nose scrunches up as she stirs, and you quietly bless her when she lets two open sneezes out into the comforter.
"Let's get you dressed, okay?" You coax, swiping the pad of your thumb over a warm, flushed cheek, and though Natasha sighs heavily, she complies and sits herself up, allowing you to tug off the towel to begin drying her off.
"I ache." She mutters hoarsely as she allows you to guide her legs into the holes of her shorts, and you pause momentarily as you stare up at her with a concerned expression on your face.
"You want a massage?" You offer, grasping her by the hips to briefly stand her up so you could finish tugging the shorts up and over her behind. You press an affectionate kiss to her stomach before easing her back down.
Natasha's lips quirk up into the barest hints of a smile, "That sounds amazing." She murmurs, and you smile as you lean up to press a kiss to her nose before reaching round to pull her hair up into a loose ponytail. You manage to complete the task just seconds before she sneezes again.
"Hh'iiishiew!" Her head bobs, and you quietly bless her as you round the bed to grab the lotion from the nightstand. It was vanilla scented, a smell you’ve associated with Natasha since you started dating all those years ago.
"That one was your fault." She groans as she sniffles thickly, and you chuckle slightly as you coax her to lay down on her back. You were gonna start at her feet and make your way up. You were going to give her the full treatment in hopes it would help ease her pain.
"Maybe so," you muse with a teasing grin, "just, relax my love." You instruct, giving the flesh of her exposed thigh a squeeze, and Natasha lets out a quiet cough as she complies. After making sure she had some tissues and water, you pour some body lotion onto your hands and rub them together before beginning to run them up and down her leg.
You could feel the tightness of her calf muscles almost immediately, and you frown, wondering just how long she'd allowed herself to suffer in silence. You deepen the pressure ever so slightly, smiling at the small groan of relief you receive in response. Her skin was slightly scarred and oh so soft to the touch, and you relish in the feeling as you dig the pads of your thumbs into the arches of her feet.
You soon find yourself moving up to her thighs, and you make a conscious effort to keep your touch as respectful as you possibly could not wanting her to think you had any ulterior motives. Not that she would complain you knew, but she was sick and would most likely end up passing out mid orgasm should you even try starting anything.
Throughout the massage, Natasha sneezes a total of seven times. You bless each and every one, ignoring her groans of dismay at your repetitiveness as you work your way up her body. Your hands glide over her back, sides, stomach. Even her own hands which brings a smile to the sick red heads face.
"There we go," you murmur as you deem yourself done, wiping your hands off with the towel before laying yourself down next to her and resting your head on your hand. "Do you feel any better?" You reach over and cup her cheek, grazing the pad of your thumb over the still warm skin. You knew it would soon be time for some more medicine.
Natasha coughs hoarsely into the blankets before nodding her head. "A little." She rasps out, and you smile softly as you lean forward to press your lips against her shoulder.
"I'm gonna go grab you some soup. Try not to fall asleep, okay?" The red head simply grunts in acknowledgment, and you couldn’t help but roll your eyes fondly as you send her one last look before making your way out of the room. Deciding you would eat when she inevitably fell asleep mid lunch, you simply dish up a small portion of tomato soup for Natasha and set it on a tray along with some medicine and a single grilled cheese cut up into triangles.
By the time you make it back to your bedroom, Natasha was in the exact same place you’d left her in except now, she was seemingly asleep. Though you roll your eyes -because of course she’d done the exact opposite of what you asked her to do- your heart admittedly melts at the sight as you place the tray down onto the nightstand. Easing yourself down onto the bed, you lean down and press your lips against her forehead before trailing your hand up and down the bare skin of her back.
“Nat? I have soup baby.” You call softly, grabbing a tissue from the box on the nightstand and wiping away the snot that had begun dripping down her cupids bow. Natasha let’s out a heavy sigh that slips into a wet cough as she allows you to rouse her, heavy lids opening and greeting you with a less than happy look.
“I know,” you murmur in understanding as you lean down and slide an arm beneath her back, easily lifting her up and into a sitting position before covering her body with the blankets. Natasha grumbles, but allows you to manoeuvre her around like a little rag doll. “but you haven’t eaten today and I’m concerned. Have some soup and then you can sleep all you like, okay?” You promise, and though Natasha seems reluctant, she seems to accept your words and begrudgingly nods her head in understanding.
After picking up the bowl and adjusting yourself a little to get more comfortable, you scoop up a small spoonful of the red liquid and offer it out. Natasha eyes you for only a moment before her lips part, and you smile slightly as you watch her swallow with only a slight grimace of pain.
It wasn’t very often Natasha drops her guard and allows you full control over taking care of her. In fact, it was such a rarity you don’t think you even remember the last time it had happened. Maybe it was the time she’d hurt her ankle a little over a year ago? You weren’t quite sure. But what you did know was that whilst you didn’t love it when she was sick, you did love knowing how much she trusted you.
“Good girl.” You murmur with a tender smile, and you pretend not to notice the dark blush that makes an appearance on her cheeks.
You loved your little germ bug more than words could ever explain.

seventeen and being sick
how seventeen will act when they're ill
notes: brief mention of (a fear of) a coma
masterlist
Tumblr media
seungcheol:
complains if he's not been given attention for more than two (2) minutes. coughs so pathetically and obnoxiously loudly that you can hear him in the hallway even with his door closed. has to be spoon-fed chicken broth by mingyu. is only Absolutely Terribly Ill for a few days tho, and then he's bustling about trying to get stuff done while sniffling rlly badly and trying to insist he's fine
jeonghan:
is acting like it's the end of the world (1). somehow always manages to get a sore throat n croaky voice every time he's sick??? one time he had a stomach bug which made him lose his voice for three days. dokyeom blames it on jeonghan's croaky cough habit. comes home from work and just collapses onto the sofa like a puppet having its strings cut. refuses to move, has seungkwan bring a glass of water and paracetamol to him
joshua:
eyes get all puffed up n his face goes all pink bc of his fever and basically looks like a baby :( tries to shuffle around the dorm insisting he can function, is shoved back into bed by seungcheol bc a) he looks really ill and b) he doesn't want joshua's germs all over him. sleeps through the worst of his fever, wakes up to drink like three glasses of water n falls back asleep again. gets up w his eyes still super puffy but he's smiling so it's obvious he's feeling better. essentially gets rid of his sickness in two days
junhui:
doesn't get sick. like ever. sometimes he gets a sniffly nose but that's about it. brings hot water bottles to the other members when they're sick, offers to cook them spicy food to make them sweat off the illness. sits in front of their bedroom door while they're resting in their room, yells questions about what they want to eat, when they want to eat, how bad their pain is on a scale of 1 to 10. gets told to go away bc his yelling is giving them a headache </3
hoshi:
is acting like it's the end of the world (2). you can tell when he's sick or coming down with a sickness bc he starts swaying on his feet and is slow to react to things that the others say. bedridden for at least two days. whispers back forlorn messages when junhui comes yelling at his door, tells him to give his love to the other members before he succumbs to his illness. is screaming and running around the dorm not even a week later
wonwoo:
gets really drowsy. tbh it's kinda worrying for them to see wonwoo ill bc he gets rlly pale and starts sweating really badly n can barely keep his eyes open. gets through the worst of the illness in a few days but is holding tissues to his nose for like two weeks afterwards. refuses to go lie down in bed to sleep off the sickness, saying it's not that bad. sneezes so hard that seungcheol swears the whole building is shaking
woozi:
just has a really runny nose and a slight stomach ache, tbh. powers through it by taking a bunch of meds. manages to convince himself that illness isn't real and humans made up the concept of sickness and in fact, he is actually God. sometimes manages to focus so hard on his compositions that he forgets he even felt unwell in the first place
minghao:
the most hygienic about it. carries around hand sanitizer with him, disappears from the room to wash his hands every fifteen minutes, has his pockets stuffed with those little tissue packets. tbh he probably doesn't get sick that often either, due to a rlly good immune system or something. voice goes all croaky n he sounds more sick than he actually is, but it's not as bad as jeonghan
mingyu:
is coughing over every single surface in the house. either is confined to the bed for his sickness or is wandering around insisting that he is definitely not unwell in the slightest. has minghao following his every move with a disinfectant spray and a cloth. gets scolded by everyone when he sneezes into his hand and wipes it on his jeans, is confused why they're all so annoyed about it bc at least he didn't wipe it on them
dokyeom:
nose starts running so badly and has such a terribly high fever. his temperature is so high it's like he's going to burst into flames any moment. is speaking in a teeny tiny whisper the entire time, thinks he's speaking loudly bc his head is throbbing so bad. keeps telling everyone that he feels fine, but "junhui hyung did you get a twin or something bc there are two of you standing next to my bed—"
seungkwan:
is acting like it's the end of the world (3). has a fear of overdosing on paracetamol and accidentally sending himself into a coma, and so refuses to take medicine. drinks the herbal tea that minghao recommends, drinks the chicken broth that mingyu makes whenever anyone is sick, attempts to drink the sauce of some spicy food that junhui offers, almost chokes. he's feeling all better in a week tho, and vows not to fall ill again. that is, until he falls ill once again
vernon:
gets all flushed up bc of the fever. is almost permanently holding tissues to his nose, bc he was an unfortunate witness to that one time that jihoon yelled at mingyu for not wiping his nose properly after sneezing all over the dorm and hansol does not want that to happen to him, thank you very much. still sounds all bunged up even though it's been three weeks since his fever has gone down
chan:
tells the other members immediately when he's not feeling well and that he's going to have a lie down. ends up not emerging from his room for a whole fourteen hours, coughs so loudly and with so much force that his entire bed vibrates. is better by the next day tho, and emerges from his room like nothing happened. minghao tells him he needs to clean his room after staying in there while ill, but keeps forgetting to follow his advice

Sick and injured
Fandom: Stray Kids
Sickie: Minho
Caregivers: Hyunjin and Felix
Prompt @sicktember
No one’s POV.:
Minho groaned as he pushed himself off the floor. “Gosh, you okay?”, Hyunjin gasped as he knelt next to the older. Though Minho nodded, his eyes seemed a little out of focus and the motion sent his head spinning. Seeing his hyung try to get up, Felix denied: “Take it easy for a moment.” To keep Minho from getting up, the Aussie rested his hand on the other’s shoulder, making him flinch. Felix’ brows furrowed with worry as his touch had been light. “It’s okay”, Minho panted, squeezing his eyes shut, “It’s okay, probably bruised my shoulder or something.” – “What about your head”, Hyunjin inquired, brushing a few sweaty strands of hair out of his hyung’s face, “Woah, you’re burning, hyung.” Sighing, Minho laid back on the floor and drew a shaky breath.
He had barely gotten any sleep the previous night. Coming down with a cold, Minho had had a hard time breathing through his nose, which made it incredibly difficult for him to fall asleep. He had probably already been running a fever, thinking back to how restless he had felt all night. The congestion in his sinuses had been messing with his balance all day and combined with the fever, he had been tripping himself frequently. Minho was honestly surprised that his fellow dance-liners had only noticed it now. He hadn’t been himself at all today and since they were the only ones there, he would’ve expected to be called out for his clumsiness immediately.
“I’m kinda sick but no, I didn’t hit my head”, Minho breathed, keeping his eyes closed to avoid the ceiling light aggravating his headache, “Only fell on my shoulder and it feels pretty sore but I’m not sure there’s much damage aside from a bruise.” – Kinda sick means?”, Hyunjin pressed, studying his hyung more closely while Felix got to his feet to collect the other’s water bottle. Lifting his left hand to rub at his nose, Minho sniffled: “Wasn’t much more than a runny nose and headache. I’m pretty stuffed up and it’s messing with my balance a bit.” – “Well, dancing most certainly didn’t help”, Felix sighed as he uncapped his hyung’s water bottle, “Your fever seems to be pretty high now. Do you think you can sit up to have some water?” Minho nodded and sat up with a grimace. His shoulder really did hurt now.
Accepting the bottle from his dongsaeng, Minho downed a few sips and shuddered as goosebumps spread down his arms. Felix took the bottle and screwed on the lid before holding it to the other’s forehead. It eased Minho’s headache some but he was already starting to shiver. “How’s your shoulder? I think we should get you back to the dorm to rest if your shoulder isn’t too bad”, Hyunjin asked softly, afraid they’d have to take the older to the hospital to get his injury looked at.
Considering his entire body ached already and his shoulder wasn’t significantly worse, Minho didn’t think his shoulder was seriously hurt, so they agreed to head back to their dorms. He had intended to take a hot shower to soothe the chills but was growing increasingly stiff and the task just sounded way too exhausting. Most movements of his right arm sent a sharp pain through his shoulder, so Minho slipped his right hand into the pocket of his hoodie to try and keep it as still as possible. Felix had linked his arm with Minho’s left afraid the older would fall again with how badly his balance was lacking. He felt Minho stiffen next to him as his breath hitched. “You okay, hyung?”, the Aussie asked worriedly, letting go of the other’s arm. The older gave a quick nod before bringing his hand up to his face, catching two itchy sneezes. His eyes welled up with tears as his face contorted in pain. Running his wrist under his nose, Minho sniffled: “M-my shoulder really didn’t like that.”
Minho had gone straight to his room to rest, foregoing the shower he had so been looking forward to earlier that day. Most of the members still had schedule but Hyunjin and Felix had decided to stay with him. After checking Minho’s shoulder for bruises, Felix helped the older try to get comfortable. There was no bruise to be seen yet but with how stiff he seemed, it had to hurt a lot. “Do you want me to get you an icepack?”, Felix asked once they had sorted his hyung’s pillows in a way that would support his shoulder just right. Tiredly relaxing into the soft material beneath him, Minho breathed: “I dunno. Feel cold enough already. Ugh, huh- ndo… I-I n-need to- need to s-snee-“ Panicking, the dancer scrubbed at his nose. Minho tried to keep his breath from hitching, fearing the pain that would inevitably come with sneezing. He was stressing so bad, he barely felt the two small hands on his arm and shoulder. “It’s okay, hyung. I got you”, Felix hummed, bracing his friend’s arm. The Aussie felt the muscles tense under his fingers as Minho stifled two forceful sneezes. Shakily releasing a breath, the older admitted: “That didn’t hurt as bad as I thought it would. Thanks, Lix.”
“Are you sure you don’t want to get that looked at?”, Hyunjin asked from the doorway, “How are you going to get any rest like this?” Defeatedly dropping his head onto his pillow, Minho sighed: “I know. I just- I feel like I pulled a muscle with the way I fell on it and there’s nothing a doctor can really do about it but tell me to give it time to heal. A trip to the hospital just sounds way to exhausting just to get advice that I already know.” – “True”, the younger agreed, chewing his lip, “Uhm, I could make you some soup. You know, so you can take painkillers after eating a bit.” They were dancers and each of them had pulled muscles on numerous occasions, so if Minho said that was what was going on with his shoulder, chances were high that he was right about it. Hyunjin just wished there was more they could do to help their hyung. “That sounds really nice actually”, Minho mumbled, “I don’t really have an appetite and my throat’s scratchy but it’d be awesome to take something for the pain. Might bring the fever down too.” The younger nodded before making his way to the kitchen to prepare his hyung some food.
Felix promised Minho he’d be right back for cuddles but quickly rushed to the bathroom to get a cold washcloth. “Let me put that on your forehead”, the Aussie muttered, brushing the hair out of Minho’s face, “That should help with the fever and headache till you’re able to take some medicine.” With Felix running his fingers though his hair and the cold cloth on his forehead soothing the headache, Minho soon found himself growing drowsy. His body wrecked by the sleepless night and hours of dancing before. Whenever Minho’s breathing would waver, Felix hands wandered to his shoulder, ready to brace it so it wouldn’t get jerked if the older had to sneeze.
By the time Hyunjin joined them with a steaming bowl of soup, Minho was close to drifting off. Everything felt fuzzy and he struggled to wake himself back up to eat something. Only when he had to sneeze and his shoulder tensed despite Felix’ support, did the pain bring him back to focus. It was frustrating having to sit back up after taking so long to find a comfortable position but the promise of medicine and a nap afterwards made it bearable. Minho realized just how lucky he had been to have fallen onto his right arm. Sure, he had learned to eat with his right hand too but with the fever making him clumsy, it sure would’ve been difficult to feed himself. “Thanks”, Minho whispered as he accepted the spoon. Hyunjin held the bowl for him while Felix went to trade the washcloth for medicine and also retrieved a small tub of ointment.
“Here’s your medicine and if you stay like this for a moment, I’ll rub some ointment on your shoulder”, Felix hummed as he handed his hyung the pills. Minho quickly rinsed them down with a few sips of water and leant into Hyunjin’s side for support while Felix dabbed the ointment onto his shoulder. Lightly grazing the other’s skin with his fingers, Felix commented: “There’s still no bruise, which is good but if my touch hurts anywhere, please let me know.” The older gave a soft hum and closed his eyes. Trusting his dongsaeng fully, Minho was able to relax and it was easy to see how the tension melted away. Well, anywhere but in his shoulder, which remained still at his side. Felix’ hands were gentle and it didn’t necessarily but there were a few spots that felt overly sore and sensitive. Seeing the older wince, Felix reduced the pressure and lightly brushed his fingertips over the spot in hopes of easing the discomfort.
Confused when Hyunjin nodded at him, Felix looked at Minho’s face and had to suppress a giggle. The older had fallen asleep against Hyunjin’s side, his face peaceful. Wanting their hyung to get as much rest as possible, the two decided to lay him down. Felix carefully guided Minho’s arm, so it wouldn’t get twisted again while Hyunjin eased him down on the pillows. “I’ll fetch an icepack for his head”, the Aussie announced, leaving it to Hyunjin to tuck Minho in. The dorm was quiet aside from the occasional stuffy snore and Felix quickly shot their maknaes a text to be quiet when they got home, so they wouldn’t wake Minho, who obviously needed that rest dearly.
Minho had woken up for a moment when Hyunjin tucked the blanket around his shoulder, glancing up at his dongsaeng with a feverish gloss in his eyes. “You can go back to sleep, hyung”, the younger whispered, “We’ll either be in Felix’ or the living room if you need anything.” Accepting the icepack from Felix, Hyunjin carefully draped it across Minho’s forehead before drawing the blinds.
Not wanting to disturb their hyung, Hyunjin and Felix settled on the Aussie’s bed and watched a drama together. Their phones buzzed with messages from their group chat. The members were telling Minho to feel better while Chan announced 3racha would be bringing home takeout for dinner, so they could eat together at the dorm Minho shared with the maknae-line. Everything would be taken care of and there’d be more than enough people to help Minho out shoulder he need anything or change his mind about seeing a doctor.
Luckily, he did manage to sleep for the entire three hours before their groupmates returned from their schedules. It was only after dinner that Minho shyly approached Felix. He had been holding back his sneezes all evening, afraid of hurting himself but the tickle was slowly growing unbearable. “L-Lix?”, Minho mumbled quietly, “I k-kinda- I kinda need your… your help.” The younger looked at him, head tilted curiously as his hyung blushed. Motioning to his face, Minho scrunched up his nose and whispered: “’s so itchy.” Felix finally got the hint and took Minho’s left hand, guiding him to the bathroom. “Here, sit”, the Aussie directed, pulling a few tissues from the box. Pressing the tissues into Minho’s hand, he gently felt around the other’s shoulder before tightening his grip to hold it securely. Minho doubted he could feel anymore embarrassed than he did, drawing a shaking breath through his nose. Sniffling, he tried to trigger the sneeze he had been fighting all evening but by now it was stuck.
Minho lightly traced the edge of a tissue against his septum, making his breath hitch. A soft whimper escaped his lips before he was thrown into an itchy sneezing fit. “Bless”, Felix smiled sympathetically, “You done?” Urgently shaking his head, Minho caught two more sneezes. “Ndow I’b done”, he rasped behind his tissues, ready to blow his nose as soon as Felix let go of him. Tossing the tissues into the trash, Minho went to wash his hands and sighed in relief: “Thanks Lix, those were really bothering me.”

Snzarios for Every Month.
I’m also going to do one for sicknesses in general, rather than just colds.
January 🎄
So many people get sick right after the holidays, after exposure to countless colds and germs, and the stress of the season. Maybe a relative was sick, or maybe someone at Walmart while you were doing your last-minute Christmas shopping. Either way, you’re down with a bad head cold.
A stuffy, runny nose
Sneezes that are so tickly they coax more sneezes out.
Every time you sniffle, you can feel congestion going down the back of your sore throat 😣
Headache from constant sneezing and coughing. It throbs with every stifled sneeze, but you can’t stop stifling because then someone else might catch your germs and come down with a bad cold of their own.
What would a winter cold be without chills? And a fever just high enough to make you feel sooo sickkkkk 😩
February ❄️
I catch the messiest colds ever in February, I don’t know why. Like, there was only one February (2021) since I can remember that I didn’t get an awful cold. Idk why 😬 oop
Potential low-grade fever, but constant chills.
Achy throat, head, chest, and basically everything else,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Nose is completely stuffed up, but somehow runs like a faucet? 🤨 messy af
Sneezing continuously, getting rid of a ton of thick, gooey snot, but still not doing anything to help the congestion.
A cough, just so your throat will continue to hurt
So incredibly tired from the sneezing, sniffling, and snot production
March ⛅️
So many people are getting sick as the weather starts to change and snow starts to melt, kicking off allergy season. Sneezy season pushes on.
Headache
Chills, but no fever
Congestion. Plugged, snotty nose and sneezing, a cough, discomfort in general. You are a complete snot monster, but you can’t help it. You can only blame whoever gave you such a horrible cold.
April 🌧
April showers bring May flowers, but they also bring bouts of spring colds. The weather is beginning to get nicer, but you have to be stuck in bed with a bad cold.
Fever and aches. Not the kind of fever that makes you solely cold, but the kind that makes you sweat and have goosebumps simultaneously. As for aches, think head, throat, chest, legs, arms, everything.
A head that’s so stuffed up that the sufferer can’t breathe, let alone sneeze normally. With every breath, they can feel everything shifting grossly inside of their head.
May 💐
Why do I feel like everyone catches the sniffles at the end of the school year?
A runny, slightly sniffly nose that’s just stuffy enough for them to sound congested, and for their exhaled to feel uncomfortably hot against their skin.
Sneezing, a result of the snotty, itchy nose.
A sight, irritated cough
June 💦
Summer break is prime time to swim, but the earlier in the season you do it, the colder the water will be. Keep this in mind, because swimming in cold water can result in a nasty cold.
It would start off with chills. Your body would try to warm up, but eventually a fever would start to set in.
Your nose would begin running when you were in the water, but it wouldn’t stop when you got out. It would completely stuff you up within a few hours.
A headache/body aches from shivering for hours on end. No amounts of medicine, blankets, or hot tea can warm you up.
Sneezing excessively. By excessively, I mean, not being able to stop and needing to wipe your face after each one because they are so messy.
Coughing, but only after you blow your nose, because of the irritation.
A sore throat and glands from all of the sneezing and coughing and being sick in general.
July 🔥
Everyone around seems to be sick with something. Staying up on the Fourth of July might have been your body’s last straw. Say hello to a gross, streaming summer cold.
A fever, which causes you to sweat and shiver simultaneously. It’s ninety degrees, whatever. A heavy sweatshirt would make you feel better.
An extremely stuffy nose which only runs at inconvenient times.
Stuffy sneezes, which the sufferer is constantly trying to ward off so the others won’t notice the monster of a cold they’ve come down with.
A bad, congested cough, just to make hiding their illness harder.
Bonus points! The sufferer is constantly ducking off to blow their nose or cough away from the rest of the group because being sick embarrasses them.
August 🏵
One of the hottest months of the year, hypothetically a month you shouldn’t get sick during. But after a long, busy summer, your immune system needed a day off. Unfortunately, that day was long enough to land you with a stuffy head cold. Oops.
A nose so stuffy that sniffling does absolutely nothing. No matter how hard you try, nothing moves, untiiillllllll it starts running uncontrollably.
Stuffy sneezes to partner with the congestion 😌
Exhaustion. That’s it, exhaustion.
September 📓
Everyone is going back to school and getting exposed to all sorts of new germs. Despite best efforts to avoid sick people, a snotty cold is practically inevitable.
There just had to be a very runny and stuffy nose
A headache
Sore throat
Just enough sneezing to tell everyone you’re sick ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
October ☔️
Imagine getting caught in a cold autumn rainstorm, getting chilled to the bone, and coming down with a vicious cold as a result of it.
stuffy/runny nose, of course, because that’s what cold weather does to you.
sore throat that makes you sound so hoarse 🥺
head/body aches
fever and chills
an unimaginable amount of congestion
a cough caused by the congestion
constant, excessive sneezing, each causing a wet, inescapable mist of cold germs to rain down on anyone nearby. and no, tissues do nothing to contain the sneezes, because they are far too messy.
November 🎃
okie so I can’t actually think of anything except !! catching a chill on Halloween that knocks you down with a huge cold.
stuffy/runny nose
sore throat
headache
a constant chill and a slight fever
constant sneezing
December 🚎
The darkest, dampest month, perfect for getting sick. The snow is getting more frequent, and it’s not uncommon for you to get stuck in it waiting for a bus. Once you get on the bus, you’re in close quarters with a bunch of sick people, like it or not. The worst chest cold of your life is on its way.
A sniffly nose
A sore throat and hoarse voice
A ton of congestion and a bad cough that makes the congestion and hoarseness obvious
Even the sneezes sound hoarse and stuffy 🥺
On top of that, a headache and fever because of how sick you are. The fever makes you shiver and sweat and sleep and feel absolutely miserable.

This blog article will provide you with ideas on how to protect the health of your family. By following a few easy tips, you can avoid catching colds and other common winter ailments.
What are some precautions to take before the winter season?
As the weather gets colder and the days get shorter, it's important to take some precautions to make sure you're prepared for the winter season. If you have some serious issues then you should go to the best hospital in Udaipur. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
- Stock up on warm clothing and blankets. This is a must for staying cozy when the temperature starts to drop.

Tips on how to prepare your body
1. Get enough sleep: Most people need around eight hours of sleep per night. Consider going to bed and waking up a few minutes earlier each day until you’re used to the new routine.

———
And get sick Celia did.
The days after her moment in the rain were filled with a runny nose, loads of sneezes, body aches and chills, and a splitting headache that just wouldn't go away. She had been hunkered down at her apartment, thankfully telling both of her employers that she was too sick to come in before it got too bad. She had practically everybody over checking on her. Vivian and William had stopped by in the first few days, and although Celia felt like crap, she was happy that there were no hard feelings between her and William and that their friendship was still strong.
Sophia stopped by and talked her ear off with medical nonsense that Celia didn't understand, so she just assured the nurse, who meant well, that she would drink her fluids and stay by the fire.
Her mother dropped by and made her some hot meals, telling her about what was going on at home, as well as the news that Joseph had written to her telling her that Samuel's condition had completely gone away. Celia was very happy to hear that.
Even Finn stopped by, checking on Celia when Tommy was in London, conducting business. He was incredibly awkward, standing in the kitchen of the apartment as she attempted to tell him what she needed, but she couldn't hate him for trying.
Her favorite was when Tommy stopped by to check on her, which he did every day that he was able. His presence just made her feel safe. Like she was going to get through this.
She was lying exactly where she had been for most of the week, on the couch, when a knock sounded on her front door. "It's open!" she called, knowing that she shouldn't leave the door unlocked, but it was the middle of the day. Who could harm her then?
"C?" the person at the door called as they opened it, making Celia's heart flutter.
"On the couch, Tom," she mustered up the energy to speak, slowly sitting up to see him walking in and shutting the door with a smaller sized bouquet of flowers in his hands. "I've seen it all now. Tommy Shelby has officially gone soft," she remarked, her smile growing as she took in the gesture he did for her.
"You tell anyone and you're finished," he gave her a serious look, pointing a finger in her direction before it melted quickly, the usual soft smile he wore when only in her presence becoming visible. "How're you feeling?" he asked her then, changing out the flowers in the vase with these fresh ones before he moved over to where she was laying.
"The same. Can't stop shivering, but at the same time I feel like I'm burning up. I'm happy that you're here though," Celia responded, accepting his kiss to her forehead before Tommy stood straight to see her smile then.
"Right then, sit up," he said, motioning for her to sit with his hand. Celia furrowed her brows but did as he said, watching as he sat down in the empty space she had created. "C'mere," he whispered, his hand going to her shoulder then before he guided her down to lay on his lap. She twisted her neck up to smile at him, and he returned it, his fingers twisting through her hair then.
"You're too good to me, Tommy," she breathed, curling closer to the blanket, though the extra heat he was providing was a big help.
"'M just repaying it, love. I know you'd do it for me," he stated, absentmindedly running his fingers through her hair as he stared ahead at the fire.
"I would," she agreed. "How was London?" she asked then, knowing he had to go there for business and had been there for the past few days.
He then launched into the story of his business endeavors in the big city - including only what he felt that she needed to know, of course. Celia was happy to hear that Ada was doing well, and she made Tommy promise that he would take her to see his sister and nephew as soon as she got better. Celia, in turn, told him all about what she had been doing since he'd been away, which was pretty much laying on the couch, eating soup and missing him. She felt a bit embarrassed to admit that last one, but it was true. She missed him.
They sat there in peace until Celia's body started shaking more violently, so much that Tommy was also shaking from being sat underneath her, "are you alright, love?" he questioned, peering down at her as she clung tightly to the blanket that was placed around her.
"Yeah...just, just uh...yeah," she cut her sentence short, unable to form a complete sentence as the coldness was too much to bear.
Tommy was unconvinced, and his suspicions were confirmed when he reached down to feel her forehead. She was burning up. "You're not ok, Celia. You're burning up," he stated, moving her slowly so that he could get up and move to the door.
"Where...where're you going, Tommy?" Celia questioned, sounding like a small child whose friend had left them on the playground.
Tommy didn't respond, but instead opened her front door and peeked his head out, "Aye, David!" Celia heard him call to someone then, "get Polly to come here. She should be at the shop. Tell her that I need her. Go fucking quick," there was a sense of urgency in his voice and it made the man nod before he took off on his task. Tommy came back in to her then, crouching down beside her. "I've sent one of my men to go get Polly. She knows what to do better than I do," he told her then, his one hand grabbing onto her clammy one after she reached it out to him.
"Tommy, I'm ok, really," Celia told him, not wanting his aunt to have to come all the way over here for her pathetic cold.
"Celia," he had a warning tone in his voice, telling her that she had no chance of winning this one. "She knows what she's doing better than I do," he told her again.
"I think you were doing just fine," she told him, her eyes half closed as she didn't have much energy to begin with.
"I wasn't doin' anything though, love," Tommy chuckled at her sleepy comment.
"You were sittin' with me, and that was making me feel better."
Tommy nodded, releasing her hand before she got the hint and propped herself up again so that he could sit down, allowing her to place her head in his lap once more. "I'm gonna have to move when Polly comes," he told her and she nodded, for now enjoying the warmth that had returned.
Tommy was sitting in the same spot, his hand slowly moving up and down Celia's arm as she slept, and he was dozing off himself until a loud knocking sounded on the door. "Come!" he called to the person, sure that it was his aunt.
Soon enough, Polly was stepping through the doorway. "Jesus Christ, Tom," she breathed as she took her coat off and set it on the chair, eyes focused on her nephew, who was sitting with a sleeping figure on his lap. "Why'd you cause such a fuss about this?" she asked him.
"She was really shaking. I didn't know what to do, Pol," he answered her, not beating around the truth. He was worried about Celia.
"And Polly knows what's best," Polly grinned and Tommy let her have her moment, nodding along with her. "Did you make her something to eat?" she asked then. Tommy just blinked. "Soup, some toast, anything?" she looked at him with wide eyes.
"No, Pol, I didn't make anything because I don't know how to fucking do any of it!" he hissed, keeping his voice down because Celia was still sleeping on his lap.
"You're hopeless, boy," Polly shook her head with a laugh and Tommy tipped his head to the back of the couch, not in the mood for joking.
"Look, I'm not in the mood, Pol. Can you please just make her some soup? She's probably got everything it needs over there," he waved her towards the kitchen, where Polly was already rummaging through the cupboards.
"She's got a whole fucking garden in here," she remarked, taking what ripened vegetables she needed to start the soup.
It was then that Celia stirred awake, propping herself up on Tommy's thighs as she looked around confusedly. "C. Are you ok, love?" Tommy asked her as she sat up straight and looked around, still half-asleep.
"Yeah, 'm alright. Just need something to drink. My throat's dry," she said, her hand going to her throat then to send a physical cue as well.
"Get her something to drink, Thomas," Polly chimed in from the kitchen, making Celia look in her direction.
"Oh, hi, Polly," she sent as much of a smile as she could muster in her direction. "When did you get here?" she asked, not remembering ever letting her into the apartment.
"Thomas sent for me while you were sleeping. Needed me to come help him since he can't do a bloody thing for himself," she responded, sending Tommy a smug smirk as she worked on chopping the vegetables in front of her.
"Don't start, Pol," Tommy said in a warning tone. Celia couldn't help but laugh. He then handed her a glass of water, and she thanked him before drinking almost half of it.
"You've got quite the garden here, Celia. Must take a lot of time to keep it up, in an apartment no less," Polly complimented her ledges that were filled with plants.
"Thanks. What can I say? I'm a plant lady," Celia smiled sheepishly. One of the things this illness showed her was that she had absolutely no filter when she wasn't feeling like herself. Polly chuckled at her statement before she dumped the vegetables in the pot, the sound of boiling water echoing around the room.
Finished with that for now, she moved over to where Celia and Tommy were sitting. She then placed her hand on Celia's forehead with pursed lips. "You're still pretty hot. Thomas, go wet a rag with some cold water," she ordered her nephew, who nodded and stood from the couch to retrieve one from Celia's powder room.
"Thanks for coming over and helping out, Polly. You really didn't have to," Celia took the time to thank the woman standing in front of her.
"You're family now, love. We always help family," Polly smiled at her before Tommy came back with the wet rag. He gave it to Polly then and she set it behind Celia's neck, the coldness made Celia shiver, but it also helped soothe the burning feeling that she was feeling. "The soup should be finished shortly. I just threw something together quickly," she stated, sitting down on the chair before looking at Tommy, who had just gotten his pack of cigarettes out. She watched as he fished one out and stuck it between his lips, only speaking to him when he was going to strike a match. "If you will be smoking, it will be done outside. She doesn't need any smoke in her lungs," she ordered him and he sighed, deciding that removing the cigarette from his lips and putting it back in the container was better than leaving the apartment.
The three stayed silent then, Celia laying on the couch, Tommy leaning against the wall, and Polly sitting in the arm chair. "I'll be back," Tommy stated then, pushing himself off the wall before he moved to the door of the apartment.
"Those things have a hold on him," Polly remarked, obviously referring to the cigarettes that he smoked so often. "Always needing to numb himself with that and the drink," she continued. Celia just nodded, unsure of what to say. "He's been through a lot these past few years, Celia...between the war and all this business."
"I know," Celia nodded her head. Did she really know though? She only heard bits and pieces of the business he was involved in, and what she knew about the war, she knew from her brother. Tommy didn't necessarily talk about either.
"You've made an impact on him though. I haven't seen him act this caring since Grace left," Polly said then, making Celia's heart swell at the statement.
"Who's Grace?" Celia felt dumb asking, but Polly had said the name so freely, like she expected her to know who she was.
"She's a woman from Thomas' past. Worked as a barmaid at the Garrison to get close to him. She was actually a spy working for an inspector," she explained, noticeably shivering when mentioning the inspector, "she left him for America. Was the first person he got close to after the war."
"Oh..." Celia trailed off, not knowing what more to say. "I didn't know about her."
"Thomas tends to use forgetting as a coping mechanism."
"I'm not surprised he didn't tell me about her then," Celia nodded just as the door opened, Tommy stepping back into the apartment.
"Soup smells about done, Pol," he stated, making Polly stand from the chair.
"You know that much about it," Polly quipped, making Celia giggle. "Come over and eat, dear," she called for Celia then, waving her over as she poured the soup into a bowl. Celia listened to her, slowly standing from the couch before she shuffled over to the table, where a bowl was ready for her.
"This smells amazing, Polly. Thanks so much for making it for me," Celia smiled before she brought a spoonful up to her lips, blowing on it before she put it into her mouth. "Tastes amazing too."
"I'm happy you like it. If that's all then, I'll be leaving," she stated then, looking between Tommy and Celia.
"Thanks for coming, Pol," Tommy stated as his aunt walked towards the door. Celia piggybacked off of his statement, making Polly turn to face them with a smile before she opened the door and moved outside. "How are you feeling now, love?" Tommy asked her as she finished up the bowl, feeling full and warm now.
"Better. I'm tired though. Come to my room with me?" she asked then, standing before she outstretched her arm for him.
"Of course," he nodded, a small smile gracing his features before he took her hand and allowed her to lead him into her room. Contrary to the time she spent at Tommy's home, she didn't give two cares about what the pair was wearing. She just fell down into the bed with the robe she had covering her figure.
"Come here, Tommy," she whispered then and he obliged after slipping out of his suit jacket. He then slipped in next to her under the covers, allowing her to place her head on his chest, his arm going to rest under her neck. "You're too good to me," she whispered, her eyes closed as she reveled in the moment.
"I've been told," Tommy responded, chuckling slightly.
"Well I'm telling you again," she picked her head up to smile at him, stretching her neck to press a kiss to his jaw. Seeing his smile when she pulled away, she moved her body so that some of her weight was now on Tommy. He didn't mind it though. "Our child will have the most beautiful eyes," Celia admitted after a moment of silence had passed, focused on tracing her index finger down the bridge of Tommy's nose and over the freckles of his cheeks as his eyes momentarily fluttered shut. She was content on his chest, his leg slotted between hers as he held her close.
"Our child?" he questioned, his eyebrows raising slightly at her admission.
"Shit, did I say that out loud?!" She squeaked, blush covering her cheeks as she dropped her head to hide against his chest. Again with the words just falling from her lips when she wasn't feeling herself. Here she was admitting this to the man who just revealed his feelings for her a few weeks earlier. She felt pathetic.
"You did, love," Tommy responded, chuckling slightly. He'd noticed that she rarely swore, so hearing her say a curse word was rather unusual, and dare he say...adorable. Celia continued to hide, waiting for embarrassment to fade, still she couldn't stop the butterflies when she felt him press a kiss to the top of her head. "They will have a nice set of eyes though," he admitted then, his voice low like he was sharing a secret. Maybe the secret was that Tommy Shelby was indeed becoming soft.
"You think?" mirth had returned to Celia's eyes as she lifted her head to meet his crystal blue ones again.
"Yes, I do. You've beautiful eyes love," he said, a slight smile on his face as he studied her hazel irises. They fascinated him in the sense that they never stayed the same color and seemed to change with the day. Today they were a pale blue that made the hints of a darker green and brown stand out more than usual.
"I was talking about your eyes, Tommy," Celia stated, blushing once more at his compliment.
"So they're really going to luck out either way," Tommy grinned then, chuckling once more as Celia brushed her nose against his before he leaned in slightly to press their lips together.
"Don't kiss me!" she shrieked, pulling away once she realized what was going on. "I'm going to get you sick!"
"I'll be alright, C," he assured her.
"Sickness doesn't work like that, Tom," she stated, stifling a yawn as she got her words out.
"I'll take my chances," he smiled up at her, brushing fallen hairs out of her face then.
"I feel sleepy," she admitted then.
"Go to sleep then. I'll be here for you," he told her, and that was all she needed to hear before she fell asleep against his chest.
——
One week later, Celia was feeling much better and was ready to be out in the world once more. She was currently sitting with Esme in the snug at the Garrison. Finn had gotten word that the older Shelby brothers were coming back from the auction they set off to, where Tommy was planning to buy a horse to put into the derby. They sat talking about whatever came to mind before the door to the snug opened, John walking in first then followed by Tommy, Michael, and finally Arthur, who Celia immediately noticed had large, reddish purple bruises spread across his face. "What happened to you, Arthur?" Celia asked, shock filling her features. Last time she checked, horse auctions didn't usually end with people getting beat up.
"He got into a fight with a man who pulled a gun on Tommy," John responded, grinning over at his oldest brother with pride.
"A gun?!" she was even more shocked now, her worried eyes falling on Tommy. She did a surface level check and didn't see anything other than stress etched into his features. "Are you ok, Tommy?" she asked then, moving over to take his face into her hands. The secret between them was out now, and Celia didn't mind showing displays of affection towards him. Which was fine because Tommy enjoyed keeping his hands on her, letting the world know she was his.
"I'm fine, love," he assured her, watching as she breathed a sigh of relief, taking his word for it.
"You should be worrying about me, Cel. I'm the one with the bruising," Arthur jokingly stated, making her send him a sympathetic look.
"Yeah, I'm surprised there isn't a fucking bruise around your neck from us having to subdue you so you didn't beat that man to a pulp," John remarked, clapping his brother on the back.
"He was trying to take a shot at me brother," Arthur responded with a shrug of his shoulders, like this thinking was second nature.
"Well, besides the assassination attempt, how was the auction?" Esme asked from her place behind John, her arms draped over his shoulders.
"It went really well. Tommy got the winning bid on a horse, and met a high end trainer, named May Carleton," Michael gave the ladies the rundown.
"He impressed her with his words as usual. He somehow managed to get her to work on training his horse," Arthur stated, making Celia's eyes fall on Tommy. She watched his face shift in nature, his eyes boring back into hers. Like he was telling her not to worry.
"I think it's just cuz she found him attractive," John spoke up, unknowingly stirring the pot. Celia kept her eyes trained on her lover, unsure of what to think at the moment. "Otherwise she'd never take a chance on a piece of Birmingham trash like him," he remarked then, making the very man he was teasing send a glare in his direction. John held up his hands in defense then, letting out a chuckle.
"Would you like to leave, Celia?" Tommy asked the woman standing off to his side then, the chances of his statement only falling on her ears diminishing as the room quieted down the second he spoke.
"Sure," she nodded, allowing him to put her coat on and take her hand before he began leading her out of the snug.
"Don't let the welcome home festivities wait any longer!" Arthur called behind then, laughter coming from the snug as Celia felt her cheeks heat up.
"Yeah, fuck off, Arthur!" was Tommy's response. Celia stayed quiet and let Tommy wrap his arm around her shoulders as he led her out of the bar and onto the street. They walked in silence until he decided to speak up, "so that thing with May that guys were talking about..."
"I know, Tommy," she cut him off, already knowing the words he was going to say. "It's ok."
"We just talked about my horse. She agreed to train it for the derby," he explained to her, watching from the corner of his eyes as she nodded at him.
"I believe you, and that's good," she told him, trying to believe those words as she said them. There was something in the back of her mind, nagging her though.
"Let's go home," he said a bit further down the road, pressing a kiss to her temple before they continued the rest of the way to Watery Lane.
Celia tried to get the mention of this woman horse trainer out of her head and focus on enjoying her time with Tommy but it still remained. She just hoped he wasn't lying to her. And that she wasn't lying to herself.

Hello! may I ask sick kawanishi taichi? because it's actually hard to find his version :"D. He gets his hay fever acting up in class all day and causes a fever and headache. Shirabu take care of him since they're classmates and he looks horrible. Thank you!
Hello!! Now that I think about it, I've never even read Kawanishi content, poor guy. I hope this is similar to what you had in mind~
TW: headache, hay fever, coughing & sneezing.
1.1k words, Gen.
ーーー
The voice of his Chemistry teacher blabbering about the TCA cycle almost lulls him to sleep. His head rests propped up on his hands, elbow on the hard, uncomfortable desk as he blinks, trying to make out whatever's being written on the blackboard. Kawanishi has only taken notes for the first ten minutes of the lecture, before entirely giving up.
His head has been pounding without giving him a break since the previous night, and out of the usual seven hours of sleep he normally gets, he's sure he hasn't actually slept for more than three. Not well, either.
Kawanishi slowly moves his hands to the sides of his head, palms flat on his ears that ache and throb. He hisses under his breath, sniffling, eyes watery.
The room keeps spinning, and his eyelids feel heavy and sore. The ache in his head, ears and chest drowns out everything else.
He doesn't even notice how Shirabu's staring at him from his desk. The setter eyes his friend carefully, and rapidly notices his puffy eyes and his cloth tissue crumpled and indubitably damp with snot.
He returns his attention to the lesson, but not long passes before he's startled by a stifled cough coming from the back of the classroom. Most of his classmates, and even the teacher, only glance at the source of the noise for a split second before going on with their duties.
Yet, Shirabu can't pry his gaze from Kawanishi, who looks more and more in agony with each passing instant. Although he isn't familiar with allergies himself, it's not hard to identify the symptoms.
Headache, runny nose, cough, and tiredness, from the looks of it. He doesn't envy him one bit.
Shirabu recalls that Kawanishi has mentioned being on antihistamine medications, but it doesn't seem that the boy has taken them before coming to school.
"Shirabu-kun!?"
He startles, snappung around to meet his teacher's annoyed gaze. "Perhaps you should focus on the lesson. I know you can get good grades, however I believe you might learn something from this, too."
The boy nods, bowing his head slightly, cheeks tinged in red. "Y-yes sir, sorry sir!!"
Someone snickers, yet Shirabu pays no mind to anyone but Kawanishi, who's still sniffling and struggling to hold his cough.
As soon as the bell rings, marking the end of those neverending fifty minutes, Shirabu is quick to catapult himself to his friend's desk, crocuhing next to it.
Kawanishi, whose head now lays above his arms, that work as a makeshift pillow, slowly tilts his gaze towards Shirabu, cocking an eyebrow in confusion.
"Kenjirou? What're you...?"
"Did you take your meds today? The antihistamine ones." he asks, pragmatic as always. "You know your hay fever's bad, so why didn't you?"
Kawanishi looks like he's about to say something, but a wet cough cuts him off abruptly. Shirabu timidly reaches out with his hand, rubbing soothing circles on his friend's trembling back while he coughs and sputters helplessly.
The middle-blocker reaches for his water bottle with the hand that isn't pressed against his mouth, and shakes his head, regretting the action as it throbs harder.
"Why not? Did you run out?"
"C-couldn't." Kawanishi replies once the coughing fit comes to an end, "Test later. Meds make me sleepy."
Shirabu sighs. Right, they have an English test coming up in the fifth period, he'd momentarily forgotten about it.
"Still..." he fumbles for words, "Your health is more important than a test. You look like you can't breathe."
"Th-that's because it's true." Kawanishi coughs, cheeky. Shirabu lets his shoulders sag, just a bit.
"Listen, I'll make you a deal. We still have a bit more than four hours until the test, so how about you take the meds, rest in the infirmary and come back for it later, if you're up to it?"
"W-what aboutー" a sneeze, then another, then a cough, and a groan. "M-my head, fuck..."
Shirabu doesn't even wait for his friend's final answer. He turns to a classmate, explaining the situation and asking her to warn the teacher. Then, he starts to rummage insise Kawanishi's bag, retrieving the meds, and his bottle.
"Let's go, Taichi." he calls, gentle.
His friend slowly stands, chair screeching against the linoleum, but as soon as he's up, he sways. A hand immediately shoots for the desk, grip tight to steady himself.
Shirabu's got his other arm, a concerned look in his honey eyes.
"You good? Do you need to sit back down?"
"N-no, no, m'fine, just tired." Kawanishi hums, straightening himself. Shirabu still doesn't let go, and the two of them make their way towards the nurse's office.
The walk is painfully slow, Shirabu being forced to stop dragging Kawanishi more than once as the latter doubles over and coughs, or sneezes, or moans in agony.
"You should've stayed in bed."
"You sh-should've let a professional cut your hair."
Shirabu snorts. The fact that Kawanishi's well enough to joke around is a huge relief. Luckily, the infirmary isn't far, and the nurse is kind and quick as he allows them in, instructing Kawanishi to take off his shoes and to loosen his tie before he shows him a free bed.
Shirabu and the nurse exchange a few words, and soon the setter joins Kawanishi, handing him a pill and his water bottle.
"Here. I told the nurse about your hay fever, but he's said he will have to check your temperature and blood pressure anyway, for safe measure. I'll be back in three hours, to see how you're doing."
Kawanishi swallows the pill. He then turns to face Shirabu, "Thanks, man. Sorry for the h- ha- the hassー" a forceful sneeze cuts him off.
"It was no hassle. Now rest." he says, offering a kind smile before he leaves the office, Kawanishi fast asleep.
ー ー ー
Shirabu doesn't visit him three hours later. Instead, Kawanishi blinks his eyes open to the warm, tangerine sunlight filtering through the infirmary shutters, and only then he sees his friend walking towards him, his own and Kawanishi's school bags and duffel bags thrown over his shoulders.
"Oh, you're up." he chirps.
Kawanishi frowns, face hurting. "What time s'it?"
"Oh, like, 6:30PM? I let you sleep in, since the nurse said you needed to rest more. Ah, the teacher said that you can take the test once you're well, it's no problem for her." Shirabu says, nonchalantly. "I know you're mad at me for tricking you, so I'm treating you to sukiyaki."
"You think food can solve this?"
"Can't it, though?" Shirabu grins.
Kawanishi's stern expression sobers up a second later. "...I get to pick the place. And I want ice-cream later, my throat hurts."
ー ー ー
Let me know how I did with this one!! And, anon, if you have an AO3 please let me know, so that I can gift this fic to you next week!!

My experience with Covid-19
With everything going on, we are being told how deadly COVID is by some and being told how it’s nothing to fear by others. This is my experience as a fairly healthy 25 year old.
My husband took all precautions possible but caught COVID at work from an anti-masker. His first 72 hours, all he did was sleep. I tried to wake him to eat crackers or take a drink of water and he would fall asleep, mid-sitting up. His next 3 days were better. He would take naps throughout the day and was finally eating again, but he had a terrible headache and doesn’t stand up for long as he constantly feels weak. He is improving but still showing too many symptoms to be released on his day 10.
Day 5 for my husband was day 1 of symptoms for me, my 2 year old, and my 5 year old. Our symptoms started very differently, it was almost like our seasonal allergies were hitting, runny nose, sore throat, slight cough. My 5 year old is mostly better, never had a fever and basically just sneezes occasionally. My 2 year old is on day two of being beyond tired and running a fever, day 4 of allergy type symptoms. I am also on day 4 of allergy type symptoms, and day 2 of fever and the worst muscle aches that I’ve ever had. It doesn’t matter if I lay on a heating pad, get in a hot shower, stand up, sit down, move, don’t move, it feels like my muscles are being ripped apart, mostly in my calves and back.
Please, take every precaution available! I wouldn’t wish this on anyone, and that is coming from someone with moderate symptoms and a high pain tolerance.

pairing: Sugawara Koshi x Reader
warnings: none

a/n: was feeling a bit under the weather lately, so here’s a sick fic, with no other than the pretty boy himself. Also, here is Sugawara singing under the sea to bless your ears. hehehe

When you woke up that morning, you did not expect to be greeted by a pounding headache, partnered with an itchy throat, a sore body and your ears ringing. Aside from that, your eyes hurt as well to the point that just by opening them for a few seconds causes it to sting resulting in tears building up, so you had no choice but to close them again.
Even the tiniest sounds, dorks barking, doors closing, causes your headache to worsen, basically everything hurts and you can’t even do anything about it.
“(Y/n)! wake up or you’ll be late!” your mother called from downstairs, preparing your breakfast. You groaned, wrapping your blanket tighter around yourself as the wind from the air conditioner blew past you, your body hurts so much, you can’t even stand up to turn it off.
Minutes past and your mother haven’t called you again, that was until you heard your door opening. Soft footsteps padding over the carpeted floor as your mom walks towards your miserable form “(Y/n)?”
“Y-yes?” you croaked out, your voice scratchy, you felt the side of your bed dip a little. Your mother’s cold hand presses your forehead to check your temperature. She frowned, your body temperature too high for her liking.
“You might be having a fever sweetheart” she stood up, walking into your bathroom and opening the medicine cabinet. Taking out a thermometer, she went back out, urging you to open your mouth and place it inside. While waiting, she grabs the remote and turns off your AC, adjusting your curtains to fully cover your window.
Hearing the device beep, she took it out and checked. “40.1 degrees celsius” Her existing frown deepened “I’m taking you to the hospital”
You shook your head, slowly opening your eyes to meet your mother’s concerned ones “No…hospitals please”
She knelt down, brushing the hair out of your eyes, your body visibly relaxing at your mother’s soft touches. “(Y/n), your temperature’s at 40. That’s considered high already”
“N-no” you sink lower into your bed, covering your head with your blanket once again. You never liked hospitals, the smell of antiseptics, the trays of medicines, the needles from the injections, and the patients you see roaming the hallways, it never sits right with you. Whenever you step foot inside a hospital, it just smells like death you found it disturbing, so unless you’re dying, you will not agree to your mother’s decision to take you there.
You heard her sigh, before she gently patted your form from over your blanket “Alright, no hospital. But you’re drinking all the medicines I’m giving you. Is that a deal?”
You nodded your head, you’re fine with anything as long as hospitals aren’t involved.
“I’ll call your school to inform them of your absence and cook you something light to eat”
With that, she left your room and you fell back asleep.

“(Y/n)’s not answering her phone” Sugawara had been trying to contact you since break started. He didn’t see you during your shared class in the morning, and when he asked your friends, none of them know where you were or what happened to you. He assumed you were running late, so he decided to call you again during lunch, unfortunately you weren’t answering his calls.
“Maybe she didn’t go to school today” Daichi offered, walking beside him with Asahi following right after. Making their way towards the cafeteria, maneuvering through the rest of the students wandering the hallways as they go about their lunch break.
“Sugawara-kun!” he paused in his tracks, watching as your friend walked towards the door of the classroom she’s currently in “(Y/n)’s absent today because of a fever. Her mom called to inform our homeroom teacher this morning”
If Sugawara wasn’t worried then, he sure is now. Sick? But you were just fine yesterday, he saw no symptoms of possible illness. You look perfectly healthy. “I’ll visit her later after school, thank you for telling me”
“I’ll give to you later the notes and school works the teacher’s gave”
Then she went back inside to rejoin her lunch companions as Sugawara jogs to catch up to Asahi and Daichi, who didn’t even notice he wasn’t with them anymore, too engrossed in their conversation.
The day went by fast, faster than any other days, mainly because after Sugawara was told of your absence, all he could think of was your well being. You rarely get sick, probably like once or twice a year, and when you do, it was severe, it’s not just some light fever that would go away the next day. No, yours would last for days before it would completely disappear, and if you’re lucky, sometimes it will only last for a day.
Questions were already running through his head, how are you doing? Are you taking your medicines? Are you eating? Who’s taking care of you? His mind was filled with nothing but endless questions, those thoughts stayed throughout the day that during practice he was distracted, nearly receiving a ball to the face after Tanaka tried to do a jump serve.
Once practice was over, he informed the others he would be going ahead. Promising them to explain later and hurriedly exited the school campus, the notes your friend promised to give to him already in his bag.

“Ah Sugawara-kun, are you here you visit (Y/n)?” your mother opened the door wider, stepping aside as Sugawara removed his shoes.
“Yes (L/n)-san, how is she?” he trailed behind her, his hand filled with snacks he bought from the convenience store and the paper bag filled with your favorite bread that he bought from the bakery you two frequent near Karasuno, it was still hot, just recently been out of the oven.
“She’s doing a lot better than she did this morning” your mother answered, opening your door as they stood beside your bed. Your position is still the same from this morning, your muscles ache so bad that just by turning around hurts like hell. “I was just about to go buy her so more medicine, thankfully you arrived just in time Sugawara-kun”
“I’ll watch over her (L/n)-san”
“Thank you so much, stay over for dinner alright?”
Your mother exited the room to go run her errands while Sugawara took a seat on one of your chairs. Placing the snack on your nightstand and his bag on the floor just beside it, he took the basin that was placed on the floor beside your bed and changed the water, dipping in the towel and placing it on your forehead to help lower your temperature. He saw your body stirred in your sleep, your face scrunching up in discomfort.
“Mom?”
Sugawara chuckled, adjusting the towel on your forehead to avoid it from slipping “Your mom went out to buy you more medicine (Y/n)-chan”
The familiar sound of your boyfriend’s voice answered, it was soothing, gentle to the ears unlike the ones you have heard from right outside your window. “Koshi?”
“Mhmm” He dip the towel into the basin again before putting it back on your forehead “How are you feeling?”
“Terrible” you let out a sneeze, slowly sitting up on your bed then taking the tissue Sugawara offered you as you blow your nose “It hurts everywhere”
“It will go away soon once you drink your painkillers” He took the bag from the nightstand and placed it on his lap, opening the paper bag as the delightful smell of freshly baked bread wafted through your nose.
“Is that (f/b)?” he nodded his head, giving you a piece just in time to hear your stomach grumble from hunger. Sugawara opened the other bag and pulled out an orange juice, giving to you the bottle as he too takes a bite from his own snack.
You never realized just how hungry you were until your stomach was begging for more food, you’ve been throwing up most of the food you ate earlier and when you do eat, two spoonfuls are already enough before you feel nauseated again.
“Go back to sleep, I’ll be here when you wake up” Sugawara tucks you in, giving you a kiss on the forehead, humming a tune from under his breath as your eyes slowly closes, the side effect of the painkiller you drank finally kicking in.
«──────────── « ⋅ʚ♡ɞ⋅ » ────────────»
The next time you woke up it was already 9pm, and you felt much better than you did that morning. Your headache was gone, the body pain subsided and you throat doesn't hurt anymore, your cold was still there but at least your nose wasn’t runny anymore. Overall, you were slowly healing and it’s all thanks to your mom and your ever loving boyfriend.
“Feeling better?” you turn your head, Sugawara still seated beside you, already changed into the spare clothes he left in your closet for him to use whenever you two had a sleepover, notebook in hand as he reviews his notes. He leaned forward, feeling your forehead.
“Much better, thank you” you took hold on his hand, kissing his knuckles. Grinning at the blush forming on his cheeks, the words he had in his mind coming out of his mouth in nothing but stutters. You chuckled, lifted up your arm scooting over to create some space “Come lay here with me”
He closed his notebook and went under the covers with you, tucking your head under his chin as he pulls you closer to him, snuggling your small body, his scent calming you into another round of sleep. “Goodnight (Y/n), I love you”
You smiled, burying your face on his shirt “Goodnight, love you too”

Original request: Can I get a drabble for Cloud? Maybe taking care of his sick s/o?
A/N: I experienced some formatting issues when I answered the ask, so I decided to re-upload it to fix the problems. Anyways, I hope you enjoy the drabble! Feedback is always appreciated.
Get well soon – Cloud Strife x sick!reader (fluff)
You should’ve known better than running around in the rain, just to finish that damn mission Barret gave you. You had been assigned to spy on one of Shinra’s employees to gather important information for Avalanche’s next mission but of course you hadn’t brought an umbrella – who could’ve known that it would start pouring when the sky had been blue and clear when you had left your apartment that morning.
Now, you had to face the consequences: a runny nose, constant coughing and a terrible headache that seemed to get worse with every minute that passed. You felt like you got hit by a truck. Every bone in your body was aching when you moved and when you tried to get up the world around you started spinning.
With a quiet groan, you covered your eyes with your hand. Even the tiny amount of light that came into the room was too much for you to bear. Your head felt like it was going to explode, and the rays of light didn’t really help with that. You were cold, too, no matter how many blankets you wrapped around your body.
Next time Barret can go and spy on people himself, you thought as you reached for another tissue to blow your nose. The members of Avalanche, except Barret, had visited you this morning, wishing you a speedy recovery and telling you everything about the plans they had come up with. You had been way to exhausted to actually listen to them and understand what they were saying but still, it was nice to know that they cared about you and your wellbeing. Tifa had even brought you some food the evening before because she knew that you wouldn’t be able to come to the bar to have dinner.
Everyone was so nice to you and looked after you, trying everything to make you feel better as soon as possible. You could almost get used to that – if it weren’t for this damn cold and the fact that you could barely leave your bed.
A quiet knock on your door snapped you out of your thoughts. “Come in,” you said with a hoarse voice. Damn, you sounded like you had been chain-smoking for at least ten years.
The door opened, and as you sat up you met an intense, yet concerned gaze. “You look terrible,” Cloud told you as he closed the door behind him. You grimaced at him. “Charming as always.”
“I’m only telling the truth,” he said and slowly approached your bed. His blue eyes were full of worry, even though he tried his best to hide it. “How are you feeling?”
“Well, probably as terrible as I look,” you joked – a vain attempt to be funny but especially in a situation like this you couldn’t help it. Cloud sighed. Others could’ve thought that he was annoyed but you knew him well enough to understand that he simply didn’t know what to reply.
Sometimes, it was still hard to read him, even for you. But it had gotten better with every day that had passed.
Cloud sat down on the edge of your bed, still examining you as if your cold could get worse if he didn’t keep an eye on you. “Marle insisted that I get some meds for you,” he said as he placed a small bag next to you. “I doubt that any of this will actually help but you know how persistent she can be.”
A brief smile flashed over your face. Marle really was a godsend. She was always there if you needed someone to talk and she took care of everyone who was involved with Avalanche. You weren’t as close to her as Tifa and in the beginning, you weren’t too sure what to think of her but as the weeks and months passed you had actually grown to like her. “That’s really sweet of her.”
Cloud nodded absent-mindedly as he searched trough the bag. Then, he finally pulled out a small box of painkillers. “I figured you could need these.”
“Thank goodness,” you mumbled. Your headache got worse with every coughing fit and every sneeze and you weren’t sure how much longer you were able to bear it, so you quickly swallowed one of the pills and closed your eyes, waiting for the painkillers to take hold.
“Get some rest,” Cloud said quietly. “I’ll drop in again later.”
Somehow, you managed to shake your head. You didn’t want to be alone. “Please stay.”
Cloud kept silent for a few moments. Then, he sighed and said: “Fine. Move over.”
You opened your eyes again, watching him as he took off his armor and kicking his shoes off before he finally lied down next to you. He pulled the blanket over both of you, and with a content smile you rested your head on his shoulder. He wrapped an arm around your waist. “Are you cold?”
“It’s getting better,” you mumbled as you snuggled up to him, taking in the heat that radiated off his body. Cloud was always so warm, and it felt good to be close to him, especially since you didn’t have much time for each other recently. You had both been incredibly busy over the past weeks, and sometimes you couldn’t even remember how it felt to be held by him.
Cloud brushed a strand of your hair out of your face. “You should try to get some sleep.”
“You’re not leaving, right?”
“No.” His voice was soft. “I’m not going anywhere.”

Drider Husband
Sorry for the late update, I was at work training yesterday and it went longer than expected.
You’ve come down with a nasty cold, so your drider husband decides to take care of you for a day.
There was a scuttling, clicking noise and a slightly raspy voice spoke from the shadows. “Go back to bed.”
You cleared your throat, which was thick with phlegm. “I’m fine.”
“Mmhm,” the voice said, sounding a little amused. “You certainly sound fine.”
“I sound great,” you replied, your voice quivering with the effort of not dissolving into a fit of coughing. There was a sigh from the shade and your husband emerged. He was a drider, a slender drow torso attached to an oversized spider abdomen. His skin was pitch black and his hair was long and white, like spider silk. One of his long ears twitched and his red eyes glinted as his many legs clicked over the kitchen floor.
“And you always look lovely,” he said, reaching out his hands to rest on either side of your face. “But you are looking a little less healthy than usual.” He leaned over to press his lips to your forehead and hummed an ‘mmhm’ of confirmation. “You’re warm.”
“It’s a little fever. Like a degree over normal, maybe,” you said. “I’m fine.”
Your husband raised an eyebrow. “I’m going to get a thermometer,” he said. Without waiting for you to say anything, he skittered away down the halls of your house. You grimaced and slouched into a chair. He returned a moment later with an ear thermometer. “Turn your head,” he told you. You did so, wincing as he pressed the thermometer into your ear and held it.
“One hundred and one point seven,” he declared when the thermometer beeped. “You’re sick.”
“It’s a little fever. I don’t feel that bad,” you insisted. He lifted a white eyebrow.
“How bad is ‘not that bad?’” he said. You shrugged, trying to avoid his eyes while not looking like you were avoiding his eyes.
“Sore throat, runny nose, headache,” you said. “Look, we can still go. I’ll be-” You lapsed into thick, grating coughs that ground against your chest and made your head pound.
“Oh, love,” your husband said, tone sliding into gentle sympathy, “I know you were looking forward to the tour, but do you really think you’re going to be okay with walking around town when you’re not feeling well?”
You slumped back, rubbing at your eyes. The ghost tour had been scheduled months in advance and you had been looking forward to it for even longer, but of course, your immune system had to fail on you.
“I’m really sorry,” your husband said, tucking his legs under him so he could sit next to you. One of his hands rested on your back. “I can call them, see if they can fit us in another time.”
“You could still go,” you said. “You were excited for this too.”
“I’m not leaving you at home all by yourself when you’re not feeling well,” he said. “Go back to bed. I’ll be there in a few minutes.”
You sniffed miserably, but left him to crawl back into the nest of blankets that made up your bed. Driders didn’t do human-style mattresses and so your bed was more circular than rectangular. You worked your way into the lump of pillows that made up the middle of the bed and lay still.
A soft clicking noise preceded your husband’s arrival. He approached the edge of the bed and reached down, hand brushing against your head. “I left a message with them,” he said. “Hopefully they’ll call back soon.” You nodded absently and he carefully climbed into bed next to you. “Is there anything I can get for you? Water, or breakfast?”
You shook your head. “I’m okay.”
His fingers trailed along your head, making your scalp tingle a little. “If you’re sure.” He rose slowly. “I’m going to clean up the kitchen. If you need anything, just yell.” You heard him leave the room and buried yourself further into the blankets.
Once you were alone, there was nothing to distract you from your abject misery. Everything from your chest up was thick with congestion that made it difficult to breathe and swallow.  Your head pounded in perfect time with your heart. You alternated between being suffocatingly warm and hideously cold. Sleeping was almost impossible. You just had periods where you were slightly less aware of your surroundings.
You drifted awake again when your husband returned to the room. “How are you feeling?” he asked. The back of his hand pressed to your forehead. “You still feel warm.”
“Just thirsty,” you said. Your husband left the room for a moment, then returned with a glass of water and the thermometer.
“I’m going to take your temperature again,” he said. “Hold still.” You sipped water as he pressed the thermometer into your ear again. It beeped and he removed it. “One hundred and two,” he said. “Your fever’s going the wrong way.” He stroked your sweaty hair back from your face. “I’m going to get you some medicine.”
He went to the bathroom and returned with some pills that you swallowed. “Are you sure you don’t want anything to eat?” he asked.
You shrugged. “I’m not really hungry.”
“You should still have something in your stomach. You need to keep up your strength.”
“I’m sick, not running a marathon,” you mumbled.
“You still need strength to fight it off,” your husband insisted. “I’ll make you some soup. Just eat a little, all right?”
He started to get up, but you grabbed his hand. “I don’t want you to leave me,” you said.
“You’re so clingy when you’re sick,” he said, but he was clearly touched. “Come here.”
He picked you up almost effortlessly and swung around to place you on his abdomen. You wrapped your arms around his shoulders and rested your head on his back.
You’re sure you can hold on?” he asked. You nodded. “Okay. And try not to sneeze into my hair or anything.”
“I won’t,” you muttered. He reached up to squeeze one of your hands.
“You’re really not feeling well, huh?” he said gently. “Just hold on.” He started walking, slow enough that you weren’t jostled by the motion.
You clung to him as he walked around the kitchen. He was a steady ride, much more so than you imagined a trotting centaur would be. With your head pressed against his back and your arms looped loosely around his waist, you were secure enough that you could almost doze.
“Love.” Your husband shifted his position, turning his head to look at you. “Are you sure you don’t want to lie down?”
You shook your head. “I’m okay.”
“Are you really sure? You’re practically falling asleep.” There was a little laughter in his voice, but you could hear a little worry under it.
“I’m not that tired,” you said, but you still slumped against him. He turned carefully and pulled you from his back, lifting you into his arms.
“Let’s try this,” he said. He carried you into the living room and placed you down on the small couch. A thick, red-and-white afghan sat on top of the couch and he tugged it over you, taking the time to smooth it around your shape.
When he started to move away, you reached out for him. He squeezed your hand, sharp nails ghosting against your skin. “I’ll be back in less than a minute. I promise.” His hand slipped away from your and he clicked off into the kitchen.
True to his word, he was back in only a few seconds. In one of his hands, he had a tall, frosty glass of water and in the other, he had a cool cloth. “Drink a little,” he said, handing you the glass, and you sipped from it. The water was freezing, especially in comparison to your burning skin, but it felt amazingly nice. When you had finished, your husband took the glass and rested the cool cloth on your forehead.
That might help with the fever,” he said. You gave a little nod and the cloth slid sideways on your head. Your husband replaced it. “Is there anything else I can do for you?”
“Stay here,” you said. He nodded, smiling enough to show off his sharp teeth, and settled in next to you again, long legs tucked under his body.
He stroked your hair, hand cool against your feverish brow. Your eyes drifted shut. It was still impossible to find sleep, as uncomfortable as you were, but the gentle motion of his hand grounded you. It gave you something to focus on rather than how miserable you felt.
A shrill beeping from the kitchen signaled that a timer had just gone off. Your husband left for a moment and returned with a small bowl of soup. You sat up, reaching for it, and your husband gave you a cheeky grin. “Are you sure you don’t want me to feed you?”
“Give me the bowl,” you said. He passed it to you and you ignored the spoon, just sipping the broth directly from the bowl. “Mm. It’s good.”
“Thank Campbells,” your husband said. “I just got it out of a can.”
“You’re so good at heating up soup,” you said. He rolled his ruby-red eyes and smiled at you.
“I’m glad you like it, anyway,” he said. Your husband leaned against the couch as you drained the bowl of soup and chewed on the soggy vegetables at the bottom.
When you finished the meal, your husband took the bowl back into the kitchen. You hard running water as he washed it out. He returned to the room and settled down next to the couch again. One of his hands brushed over your forehead.
“You feel a little cooler,” he said. “Are you feeling any better?”
You shrugged. Your chest still ached and you still felt hot with fever, but you didn’t feel quite as out-of-it as you had earlier. “Not awful, I guess.”
He folded his arms on the edge of the couch and rested his chin on them. “You’re still bummed about not being able to go on the ghost tour, aren’t you?”
“I’ve been looking forward to it for such a long time,” you sighed. “Of course my immune system had to shut down on the one day I’ve been looking forward to.”
“It’s because you’ve been working yourself so hard lately,” your husband said. There was a little note of scolding in his voice. You poked your tongue out at him. He lifted a white eyebrow and folded his arms over his chest. “You can pout at me all you like, but you know that I’m right. You’ve been pushing yourself at work a lot lately, you’ve been staying up to all hours of the night. No wonder your immune system is shot. You must be exhausted.”
“There were just a lot of projects that we had to do. We had a lot on our plates,” you defended Your husband smiled gently.
“I know. And I’m very proud that your business is doing so well. But you’ve been working so hard and you’ve barely been resting at all. You were going to crash sooner or later.” You frowned and he stroked his fingers over your head. “I’m not saying I’m happy you’re not feeling well, of course, but I think it’s a good thing that you’re going to rest for a little while now.”
“I hope I don’t have to rest for a long time,” you groaned. “If I’m still sick on Monday, I’m going to be pissed. There’s still so much I have to do-”
“Okay, okay, I regret bringing it up now,” your husband said lightly. “I swear, if you’re not back to one hundred percent and you try to go into work on Monday, I’m going to pin you to the bed.”
You raised your eyebrows and dropped your voice into a sultry tone. “Pin me to the bed, you say? Well, that doesn’t sound so bad.”
His skin was dark enough that you couldn’t see him blush, but his expression told you that he probably was. “You know what I meant,” he said. “Though maybe that’s something we can work on when you’re feeling better.”
“We could work on it now,” you said, reaching feebly for him. He snorted, deftly dodging.
“Maybe when you aren’t burning up with fever. I don’t want to catch what you have.”
“Oh.” You sagged back onto the couch. “That’s probably a good point.”
“We can still spend time together, though,” he said, leaning down to give you a soft kiss on your forehead. “Hey, I have an idea. We can’t go on the ghost tour tonight, so why don’t we have a scary movie marathon? I have a few I’ve been saving. If you’re feeling up for it, of course.”
“I guess it’s the next best thing,” you said. “Netflix me, babe.”
You started making more of a blanket nest as your husband turned on the TV and set up the movie. He couldn’t sit on the couch because his spider lower half was too big, but you had come up with a system for it: you would lie on the couch above him and he would sit on the ground and you carefully draped blankets half-off the couch so they were over both of you.
“Comfortable?” he asked as he sat down next to you. You nodded, reaching down to hang onto him. Your cheek pressed to the top of his head.
The movie was something about a ghost haunting a family that had recently moved to a town for a new start- standard fare. It was middling in its scare content, but you kept fading in and out of consciousness and dreams were mixing with the movie. You would startle awake with visions of the ghost clawing its way out of the TV and reaching for your throat.
Your husband reached up and stroked your hair. “Doing okay?” he asked.
“I think I keep falling asleep,” you said. “What’s going on?”
“They’re researching the ghost with the priest to see what her unfinished business is. And the youngest kid is either possessed or just a strange kid. It’s kind of ambiguous.”
You gathered your blanket around your shoulders and carefully slid off the couch. Your husband opened his arms on reflex and you nestled yourself into them. He closed them around you, cocooning you in gentle warmth. A chill had started wracking your body, so the heat was welcome. Not only that, but being cuddled so close to your husband grounded you. The nightmares seemed distant and fake.
“You feel a little cooler,” your husband said. “Are you feeling any better?”
“A little,” you said.
“That’s good.” He shuffled his legs, changing his position so he was holding you more securely, then he pulled one of the blankets on the couch around you. You dozed again, soothed and comforted as your husband cradled you against his body.
When you woke again, the movie had ended and a new one had started. Your husband was leaning against the couch, not really paying attention to the movie anymore. He was looking down at you, a peaceful expression on his face. You stirred and he glanced away, evidently a little embarrassed. “How are you feeling?” he asked.
“Better,” you said. “Not great, but better.” You shifted your position to work some feeling back into the limbs that had fallen asleep.
“That’s good.” He moved his arms to let you settle into your new position before re-enveloping you. “Do you want to know what happened in the movie so far?”
“Sure,” you said, but before he could start talking, a piano rendition of ‘The Isty Bitsy Spider’ started playing from somewhere in the house. He looked over his shoulder, then back at you, a confused expression on his face.
“Don’t look at me,” you said. “That’s your phone.”
He opened his mouth, closed it again, and rolled his eyes. “Stop changing my ringtone! It’s the same song every time and it’s not even that funny!”
“It’s hilarious,” you insisted. Your husband rolled his eyes again, much more expressively this time, and put you on the couch before heading off to find his phone. He always insisted that he hated it, but given that he still hadn’t installed a passcode in his phone, you had a feeling he thought it was as fun a little game as you did.
The song had time to loop and get halfway through its second play before your husband located it and answered. You strained your ears, but the phone volume had been much louder than his voice was, so you could only hear a soft, indistinct murmuring.
After a few minutes, he returned, grinning widely. “Good news?” you asked.
He nodded. “Yes. They agreed to move our tour to another night. It’s in two week’s time.” He settled down next to the couch and carefully lifted you down to snuggled against him. “Now all we need to do is get you better.”
“You’ve been doing a good job so far,” you said. He smiled, smoothing his hand through your hair again.
“Thank you. I do try.” He leaned down to kiss your forehead.
“What we really need to worry about is you getting sick,” you added. He grinned, then pulled a pained expression and lifted a hand to his throat.
“Well, my throat is kind of scratchy,” he teased. “Maybe you’ll have to take care of me next.”
“Anytime,” you said. “Want to finish the movie?”
He settled in and put his arms around you again. “Anything to spend more time with you, my love,” he said.

In which Taehyung tries to endure a long flight while also trying to hide a cold.
Tumblr media
snz-centric with Taehyung as the sickie and the other members (but mainly Jimin) as the caretaker(s).
Word count: 2951
a/n: Hey guys!! This request fulfillment is a collab with the ever-lovely @bttwenty-whump! We had a lot of fun working on this together and really hope you enjoy it.
Catching a cold on tour was inevitable. Once one of the members got sick — a cold, the flu, or anything in between — it would spread through the rest of the group one by one like wildfire. This tour, of course, had been no different.
Jin had been the first to fall ill. He had done his best to separate himself from the others, but with the type of work they did self isolating always proved to be difficult. For the first few days everything seemed to be going well — Jin did his best to keep to himself and the other members did their best to avoid him — but when Hoseok began complaining of a sore throat a few days later, they all knew it was only downhill from there.
So far, Taehyung seemed to be the only member to have escaped the cold that had been going around. He had even gone as far as to joke that he was immune to the cold because of his impenetrable immune system. However, on the morning before their next concert, he knew that he was wrong.
Taehyung was the last member to wake up in the morning, which wasn’t very unusual. However, when he realized that he couldn’t breathe through his nose no matter how much he sniffled, he knew he had caught the dreaded cold. They didn’t have time to get sick anymore; this was during a tour and Taehyung couldn’t hold the others back. Even if his voice sounded awful, he had to pretend like everything was fine for as long as he could.
He breathed out a sigh and stretched, feeling his back pop in protest. They had a long day of travel ahead of them and he didn’t have much time to feel sorry for himself. He tried to get himself ready quickly to make up for waking up late. They had a plane to catch and the last thing he wanted to hear were the others’ scoldings; especially now that a dull ache was starting to form behind his eyes.
Taehyung had just about finished throwing the last of his belongings into a travel bag when Hoseok started knocking on his hotel door. The rest of the group was ready to head to the airport and Taehyung was the last member still packing. For a moment Taehyung hesitated to open the door; he knew Hoseok was usually pretty empathetic to how the other members were feeling and didn’t want the fact that he’d gotten sick to be brought to anyone’s attention — especially after all the bragging he’d done prior about his immune system. Thankfully however, when he opened the door Hoseok didn’t seem to notice that anything was wrong and instead helped the younger man grab the last of his things before escorting him to the rest of the waiting members.
The group received a quick briefing of the travel plans from their staff before being escorted along to their transportation. The process of loading everyone and everything into the vehicles itself was quick, despite the group’s early morning sluggishness. The ride to the airport was spent mostly in silence aside from the occasional sniffle that escaped a few of the members who were still recovering. Taehyung spent most of his time trying to suppress the urges he felt to clear his throat and rubbing away any type of compromising itch he felt in the back of his nose.
Boarding the plane was a different story. As soon as Taehyung stepped out of the car to head inside of the airport a chilly breeze caught him off guard. It was that time of the year when temperatures were beginning to drop and trees were beginning to lose their leaves. He wasn’t expecting it to be this cold outside, though. He greatly regretted choosing not to wear something warmer; all he had to protect himself from the cold air was a scarf and a face mask.
It was then that his nose started to run. Taehyung tried to make his sniffles as quiet as possible, not wanting the other members to catch on to his condition. At the very least, they would be boarding soon, so he wouldn’t have to endure the cold for much longer. Still, if he wanted to stop his nose from running, he would need tissues; sniffling could only prevent the inevitable for so long. Surely one of the members was bound to have some tissues on their person. Taehyung could just ask for some tissues once they boarded the plane. The cold air would be a great excuse for needing tissues and it wouldn’t raise too much suspicion about his health.
But there was just one problem: none of the members had any tissues.
The first member he had gone to had been Namjoon. The leader was just getting over the cold himself so Taehyung had high hopes he’d have some tissues to spare.
“Hmm, sorry…” Namjoon had murmured sympathetically from behind a tissue; Taehyung had caught the leader mid-blow, “This was my last one.”
When that failed, he had turned to Jimin as the group began lining up to board.
“Tissues…? Are you feeling sick?”
Taehyung had quickly denied Jimin’s accusations and left the man’s side in a hurry before more questions could be asked. He should have known better. Jimin was his best friend and normally had a good eye for when he was feeling under the weather.
As a last ditch effort Taehyung had approached Jin in the aisle of the plane. His nose had started to run pretty steadily by then and the vocalist had to press the back of his hand against it in an attempt to stop the flow; his face mask now pulled down beneath his chin. Jin was the eldest of the group and the others always turned to him to handle things when situations got hairy. Taehyung prayed Jin would be able to help him out even though the eldest wasn’t sick anymore himself.
“I’m sorry Taehyung-ah.” Jin had sighed apologetically, “I gave my last pack to Namjoon earlier. Why don’t you ask him for some?”
Taehyung gave up after that and quickly found his seat on the plane. He really wasn’t looking forward to this flight. If his runny nose wasn’t enough to make him uncomfortable, his headache would undoubtedly get worse as soon as the altitude changed. Hopefully, he would just be able to fall asleep before the other members noticed that something was up. Jimin already seemed to be getting suspicious.
As if his incessantly runny nose wasn’t enough, Taehyung was beginning to feel an itch forming in his sinuses. He sniffled, hoping that it would help relieve the discomfort, but it only made the sensation worse. Soon enough, Taehyung was forced to cup his hands around his nose as his breath began to hitch intensely.
Jimin, who was only a few seats away from Taehyung, seemed to notice that something was wrong. “Tae?” he asked, assuming that the man was crying. “Is everything okay?” As soon as Jimin placed a hand on Taehyung’s shoulder, the latter let out a booming sneeze that startled all of the members, even the ones who previously weren’t paying any attention to the situation.
“Whoa, that was loud,” Yoongi said with a wince. “You all right, Tae? You’re not getting sick, are you?” The last thing they needed was one more sick member. Namjoon was just starting to get over his cold and they were all hoping that it would simply skip Taehyung. Now however, they were worried that the bug might have caught up with Taehyung after all.
Taehyung felt his cheeks flush red as all the members’ gazes turned to him. He tried to wipe his hands on his pants as subtly as possible before pulling his face mask back over his mouth and nose in an attempt to hide his blush.
“No, no...I feel fine.”  He murmured sheepishly, “I think it’s just from the cold air.”
“Something’s been going around.” Jungkook spoke up from behind Taehyung, a worried expression stuck on his face. He had just recovered a few days prior himself and knew how bad it could get, “Maybe you’ve caught it, hyung.” Taehyung shook his head, adamant that his sniffling and sneezing was simply due to the cold air despite the fact that even the members who were still getting over their colds weren’t at all affected.
“Leave him alone, you guys,” Namjoon said, drawing the attention away from Taehyung. “It’s not a big deal. We have a long flight ahead of us and we really don’t need to be stressing each other out right now. If he says he’s fine, then I believe him.” Even though Namjoon was able to convince the other members, Taehyung noticed the way his gaze lingered on him for just a moment too long.
“Thanks, hyung,” Taehyung whispered to Namjoon once the rest of the members were distracted by their own activities and conversations, “That was really nihh…” His breath began to hitch again as yet another tickle began to form in his sinuses. “Really n-nihh...nice of you.” Luckily, he was able to finish his sentence without any incident, sniffling harshly once the urge to sneeze went away.
Namjoon gave him a weird look. Rightfully so, Taehyung supposed. He was acting pretty suspicious, after all. Now he just needed to keep this cold (which he was now coming to terms with) under control for the rest of the flight. It couldn’t be that difficult, could it?
Well, like most of the assumptions Taehyung had made that day, he was wrong.
It started with the take off. Normally, Taehyung had no problems with take offs or landings and he very rarely would get sick on a plane. This time however, his ears refused to pop no matter what he tried, and as the plane continued to gain altitude, the pressure in his head only increased painfully. Eventually it left him curled in on himself with his hands pressed flat against his ears — it even made him whimper. Luckily Yoongi, who was sitting directly across from the other, heard the small noise, took one look at Taehyung, and knew how to help. Quickly he rummaged through his bag and pulled out a stick of gum, tapping Taehyung on the shoulder to accept it, which he did gratefully.
Taehyung fumbled with the wrapper for a moment before eagerly popping the stick of gum into his mouth. The chewing sensation instantly made the man’s ears pop and he sighed in relief before turning to thank his hyung for the quick thinking.
Yoongi nodded back, “Don’t worry about it. I’m surprised though,” he said, “That’s never happened to you before, has it?”
Taehyung mulled it over for a moment before realizing the other was right — he’d never experienced that before. His ears had always popped right away during flights.
“There are a lot of things that could’ve caused it.” Yoongi reassured, “It gets really bad if you’re congested.” He shrugged before Taehyung could say anything, “But sometimes it just happens. Anyway, try to get some rest. This is going to be a long flight.”
Taehyung nodded, happy that Yoongi didn’t press the congestion issue much further. He knew it would be best to take his hyung’s advice and try to sleep, but he’d managed to acquire a chill that he couldn’t seem to shake, and it made getting comfortable difficult.
“Are you cold?” He heard one of the members ask after he had closed his eyes. Begrudgingly he opened them up again, turning to face whoever was directing the question towards him. Sure enough, it was Jimin. Taehyung wasn’t very surprised. He was already beginning to pick up on the fact that something wasn’t quite right with Taehyung, so it only made sense that he had begun to watch him more closely.
Taehyung would have rather not given any response at all (nodding would only worsen his headache and speaking would just hurt his throat even more), but he nodded slightly nonetheless. “I don’t feel good, Jimin…” He whispered quietly, both to not risk hurting his throat and to not alert the other members of the situation.
Jimin frowned sympathetically. He knew something had been up with Taehyung. He had known for a while now and had wished he would have spoken up sooner — But it wasn’t like he could go back in time. At this moment, the best he could do was help Taehyung with the immediate problem.
Jimin could remember that Namjoon had brought a blanket onto the plane, so he carefully snuck over to where the leader was napping and retrieved the blanket that the man had apparently forgotten to use. Was it a good idea to move around this much on a plane? Probably not, but Taehyung needed him right now. “Here, Tae,” he said, handing the younger member the blanket.
Taehyung simply moaned in response, but Jimin knew that was his way of saying “thank you.” It was obvious now that Taehyung was getting sick. Jimin and all of the other members were really hoping that the cold would simply skip him, but things didn’t always work out the way the members wanted them to. Seeing how Taehyung was still shivering even under the blanket, Jimin gently pressed a hand to his cheek to feel for a temperature.
Jimin sighed. Taehyung was running a bit hot. It seemed like a low-grade fever at the worst, but judging from the symptoms they had all displayed previously, it would most likely rise. “Tae,” he said, alerting the other of his presence once again. Taehyung had started to get a little bit delirious, but it didn’t seem like anything they would have to worry about just yet — It was probably just because of how tired he was, after all. Jimin doubted he had gotten a good night’s sleep the previous night if his sniffling and sneezing from earlier was anything to go by. “Do you want me to sit here with you? I think that would be a good idea.”
Taehyung nodded. He kept his eyes closed, but he rested his head on Jimin’s shoulder as soon as he sat down next to him. Jimin was playing with his hair, hoping that the sensation would help him fall asleep faster. Normally, whenever Jimin — or any of the members for that matter — played with his hair it put him right to sleep. But instead, all Taehyung could focus on was the sudden, urgent itching that filled his nose and made his eyes water. He scrunched up his face in irritation and brought the back of his wrist up to scrub at his nose through his face mask. Unfortunately, the itch was too deep, and before long he was forced to pull himself away from Jimin. He could hear the other man ask him what was wrong but he just shook his head in response and held up a finger as his breath began to hitch too much to speak.
“HHAHSHh! HHASHh’iew!” He sneezed hard and loud, lurching forward into cupped hands. He could feel Jimin’s arm slowly slip around his waist in an attempt to steady him as he gasped out another stuttering breath before snapping down once again with two more urgent sneezes, “HHEESHhu! HHESSHhuh!—ugh...”
Taehyung stayed buried in his hands for a moment, desperately trying to sniff back the wetness that now clung to the inside of his mask. He’d made a spectacle of himself and he knew it; he could feel the member’s eyes on him and the silence that now permeated around was almost deafening. There was no talking his way out of this now. “Jimin…” he groaned in defeat, “Are there any tissues?”
Jimin bit his lip and looked around, catching eyes with the other worried and suspicious members, “Does anyone have any tissues left…?” He asked hesitantly, already aware of what the answer would be. To no surprise, he was met with only shaking heads and a few sympathetic “no, sorry”’s in response. Jimin sighed and turned his attention back to Taehyung, giving his back a comforting rub, “I’m sorry, Tae.” He murmured, “We can pick up more once we land.”
Taehyung sighed. He was feeling drained, uncomfortable, and very, very sick. He knew it was no use hiding it from the other members anymore; his sneezing was probably enough to tip them off about his condition if they hadn’t caught on already, anyway. “I’m tired, Jimin,” he said, resting his head back onto Jimin’s shoulder. The wetness inside his face mask was gross and uncomfortable, but he definitely couldn’t take it off now. Like Jimin had said, they could always pick up more whenever they landed.
Why did they have to run out of tissues now?
“I know, Tae,” Jimin said, stroking the younger member’s hair once again. “Try to get some sleep if you can, okay? We’ll be landing soon.” They probably still had a few more hours to go, but Taehyung didn’t need to know that right now. “I’m sorry you’re feeling sick. I thought it would skip you.”
“We should’ve known better,” Taehyung whined miserably. “It never skips any of us. If one of us catches a cold, we all catch it eventually.”
“Well, you know what they say,” Jimin said, a smirk tugging at his lips. When Taehyung looked at him quizzically, Jimin elaborated. “Sharing is caring.” He began to giggle, leading Taehyung to smile a bit himself.
With the help of his best-friend-slash-soulmate, Taehyung was finally able to get some much-needed rest.

boy who cried flu
(yes I am aware of how stupid this title is leave me alone)
Peter rarely - if ever - got sick. Nobody who didn’t know him well would believe it though - he had a long track record of absences and missed assignments, despite being a 3.9 GPA student. He’s flaked from social events and parties countless times, always citing he’s not “feeling well.” It’s not technically a lie, though he does lie sometimes.
People understand physical illness - they know what it feels like to be stuck in bed with a bad cold - but mental illness? Not so much. So...he bends the truth. A professor won’t be very forgiving if you say you spent all weekend in bed because you couldn’t find the motivation to move, but say you had a bad cough? No one bats an eye.
So most people assume Peter has an awful immune system. That or he’s just a pussy who won’t leave the house with so much as a sore throat. Everyone except a select few - Simon, Ashlynn, and Alex.
Simon’d been his friend since undergrad, and they’d been roommates for a time, so he knows exactly what Peter means when he says he “doesn’t feel well.” Ashlynn is the type to show up unannounced with a quart of homemade soup. And Alex...Alex was there when things had gotten out of hand.
But just because they knew he was lying when he said he was sick didn’t mean he stopped using it as an excuse. Ashlynn, despite herself, would usually not question it. Simon wouldn’t think twice about the lie, almost taking it as a direct confession. Alex would usually get pissed off and demand some kind of proof.
They were supposed to go to the beach tomorrow - get up early and take the train together to rockaway. But somehow, for the first time in years, Peter has something more than some congestion. Something way more.
It started a few days ago, a runny nose and swollen sinuses. He slept like shit, and the next morning his throat was raw and he absolutely could not breathe through his nose. But he had class, so he took the train in and sat in his lecture and tried to keep his sniffling to a minimum. By the time he was headed home, he’d long since run out of clean tissues, so he tends to his nose with a damp scrap of napkin he found buried in his bag, his nostrils red and irritated from the abuse.
By the time he gets home, his congestion has gone from a clogged, static brick in his head to leaky, runny mess, but he’s well aware he can’t take a day off from work on his thesis, so he sits in bed working until 2 AM, one hand wiping the mess from his upper lip, the other scribbling notes in his worn out pad.
He wakes the next morning not sure when he fell asleep, his head pounding heavily behind his eyes, sinuses throbbing and inflamed. His throat feels swollen and hot, and the relentless sneezing that started the night before isn’t helping any. The two days prior, everything seemed to be concentrated in his head, but now it’s clear it’s migrating into his chest as well. Halfway through his day at work in the library, he starts to cough, wet and harsh.
It doesn’t help that his body aches like he ran a marathon, and chills are coursing through him like ice water in his veins. By the end of the day he can’t wait to finally sit down and rest. His body’s been screaming for it since the moment he got out of bed, and all day shelving books has really taken its toll.
Unfortunately, he’s got an hour long commute and lucky for him, it’s standing room only. He grips the subway pole like a lifeline, his head spins every time the train rocks. He catches a glimpse of his reflection in the darkened window - he looks awful. Bags like bruises under his eyes that are rimmed in pink and half lidded, his nose irritated and red. A coughing fit tears through him, and he tries his best to catch it in his sleeve. His knees start to tremble as he tries to take deep breaths, and he’s startled when someone taps him on the shoulder.
“You wanna sit?” the woman asks, and it takes him a minute to realize she’s offering her seat. Normally, he’d suck it up, but he’s too miserable to refuse. He mumbles a thanks, and sinks down.
It takes all his self control not to fall asleep then and there.
By the time he’s back at his building, he’s seriously doubting he can climb four flights to get to the apartment. Part of him would rather just lay down in the lobby but he knows this is the final stretch before he can climb into bed and sleep.
He’s interrupted by several fits of coughs, and by the time he’s reached the fourth floor he’s practically gasping for air, and soaked in sweat. The chills he had all day have swapped with an oppressive heat that makes him feel almost lightheaded.
Somehow, he’s quite sure, he manages to stumble to bed, stripping off his damp clothes, the cool air on his slick skin throwing him back into shaking chills. Just as he’s about to let himself be sucked into sleep, his eyes fly open. Tomorrow. 6 AM. He’s supposed to go to the beach. There is no fucking way he is going to the beach.
He texts their group chat with trembling fingers.
hey im real sick i cant go tomorrow
There’s an immediate reply from Alex.
don’t fuckin do this man. we’re going.
A text from Simon.
you’ll feel better if you leave the house, you always do.
He sighs, cursing himself for using this shitty excuse so much now no one will take him seriously.
im serious i feel like trash
Alex answers immediately.
PETER. youre not sick youre being a pussy. we’re going to the fucking beach and we’re having a good time.
Simon responds.
chill alex.
if youre depressed thats fine but maybe consider coming still it might help.
i mean i’d feel better if you came
Peter groans.
im sick. like sick sick. like flu sick.
Alex shoots back quickly.
ok then what are your symptoms?
Peter rubs his eyes, trying to relieve some of the throbbing.
fever, chills, aches, cough, runny nose, headache, tired.
There’s a moment of silence and he places his phone on his bedside table with a sigh. He’s about to go under when his phone starts to buzz. Once. Twice. Three times. He swears, grabbing it. Three texts from Alex. The first is a screenshot of the symptom list that appears when you google “flu” which just happens to be in identical order.
you need to be more creative
seriously man im not letting you miss this. we planned this months ago. dont be a dick.
Finally, Ashlynn chimes in.
you dont need to lie p, its ok if you dont wanna come.
While Peter would like to further argue that he’s not in fact lying, he just doesn’t have the energy. At this point, it doesn’t matter what they think. He’s not going - who gives a shit why? He’s able to fall asleep almost immediately, but unfortunately, he doesn’t really stay asleep.
He wakes up about every 45 minutes, coughing or shivering or burning or all three. After his fourth or fifth jolt awake he can’t for the life of him seem to get any rest. Every time he’s about to drift off, another coughing fit explodes from his chest and leaves him trembling. He’s hot, but he’s not sweating, which he realizes vaguely must mean he’s dehydrated. As the night wears on and his condition continues to worsen, he wonders if he should call an uber to take him to the ER. He can’t afford it, not in the slightest, but he’s not sure he’s ever felt this terrible before. Somehow, he remembers there’s an old thermometer in the kitchen. An old roommate had bought it thinking it would work for deep frying but didn’t realize the range only spanned from 95 to 107.
He needs to take his temperature. See how serious this actually is. He can’t remember the last time he actually ran a fever, so he’s not sure if this is just par for the course or whether this level of misery is cause for alarm.
He stumbles into the kitchen, and for once he’s glad to live in such a god-awfully tiny studio. He lands heavily against the counter, and rummages through the drawer to find the small device. After what feels like an eternity, he manages to grab it with shaking hands, fumbling with the buttons for a moment before flipping on the small kitchen light.
He sticks it under his tongue, it feels like ice. He tries to coach himself on what he’s going to do. If it’s over 100, he’ll go to the hospital. No, that’s too low. 102?Still maybe too ambitious of a goal. It’s then he realizes he’s really just trying to justify what he’s going to do anyway - save himself an ER bill and stay in bed. He’s jerked out of his thoughts when the small device beeps and he removes it carefully from under his tongue.
The display flashes 103.2. He doesn’t really know what that means but after a quick google search it’s not exactly any clearer. It’s bad, but not bad enough to cause brain damage, supposedly. Fuck it, that’s good enough for him. He climbs shakily back into bed, the small excursion has left him absolutely exhausted.
He needs medicine. He knows that. Some tylenol at the very least, but if he can barely walk to the kitchen he doesn’t know how in hell he’s getting out the door, down the stairs, to the pharmacy, and back again. So, he’ll just have to live with it.
He spends the rest of the night in and out of half-sleep, each coughing fit seeming to drive the illness deeper into his lungs. His nose has started to run again, and each rub with the already-used tissue makes his poor sensitive nostrils burn in protest.
The next morning he wakes to the harsh, deafening drone of his apartment’s buzzer system. He cracks his eyes and checks the time. 6:42 AM. Whoever the fuck it is can wait, he’d like to suffer in peace. Still, as he tries to slip back into the sleep the buzzer continues to go off and after about five minutes, he sits up in bed, fighting the wave of dizziness that washes over him. He stumbles to the keypad and presses the button that opens the lobby door, and the buzzing finally - mercifully - ceases.
He grabs a t shirt from a pile on the floor and pulls on a pair of boxers - he doesn’t know if he’d be able to stand anything more with the way his fever is raging. He sits on the edge of his bed, trying to catch his breath, quickly breaking down into another awful fit of coughs. Just as he’s finished, he hears a heavy knock on the door. Sighing, he forces himself up, padding slowly over to the door, trying not to aggravate the dizziness any further. He pulls open the door and is confused to see not an overzealous delivery person, but his three friends.
He stares dumbly for a moment before a breath catches in his throat and he breaks into thick, wet coughs. He sniffles, wiping his nose with his wrist, before looking back up at them.
“What?” he mumbles, and there’s an awkward silence.
“Shit,” Alex finally says and Peter sniffles.
“What do you want?” he repeats, surprised at the hoarse, broken quality of his voice. Does he really sound that bad? Ashlynn pushes forward, wrapping him in a tight hug. She’s short, so her face is pressed into his chest, and he stumbles back slightly.
“Oh Peter,” she whispers, and he swallows, closing his eyes. She pulls away, and he has to force them open again. She she presses a hand to his forehead. Her palm feels cool but uncomfortable against his oversensitive skin. “You’re burning up.”
“I know,” he murmurs, wishing the conversation could be over so he can go lie down and not have to explain himself to his friends. He sighs, and narrowly avoids another coughing fit. “Are you gonna come in or you just all gonna stand there?” They exchange looks. “Well?”
Ashlynn pushes past him, followed by Simon and finally Alex. Peter shuts the door and tries his best not to look as fucked up as he feels walking to sit in one of his kitchen chairs.
“What do ya’ll want?” he asks Simon and Alex, Ashlynn already digging through the medicine cabinet.
“We don’t want anything we were just concerned,” Simon says.
“Then why do you look so fucking shocked?” Peter snaps, even though he knows Simon is only telling the truth.
“Because I was 100% sure you were bullshitting,” Alex says. Peter is far too tired to get into a verbal sparring match with Alex, but he tries halfheartedly anyway.
“Still sure?” before Alex can reply Ashlynn is back with a damp washcloth and the thermometer he’d used the night before. She lays the cloth on the back of his neck, and he can’t help the small whine that escapes.
“Open,” she says, and he does. She places the thermometer under his tongue gingerly, and strokes some of his hair off his forehead. “You don’t have anything? For this?” Peter shakes his head. She presses her lips into a line. “Simon and me are gonna go out and grab some stuff, ok?”
“That’s not necessary.” His voice is almost slurred with the fever, and as if on cue the thermometer beeps. Ashlynn frowns at the reading. She shakes her head.
“Christ, Peter.” She touches his forehead again, this time with the back of her hand. “103.6 and it’s not necessary?”
“I don’wanna be lectured.”
“I’m not lecturing.” She spends another moment fussing with his hair before getting up, grabbing Simon. “We’re going to get some stuff, we’ll be back. Alex, make sure he doesn’t die, ok?” It’s clear Alex is about to protest, but Ashlynn levels him with a glare. They leave, and then it’s just Peter and Alex.
Alex stands by the door, hands in his pockets. It’s a while before either of them speaks.
“What was I supposed to think?” he finally says, and Peter tries to swallow his anger.
“I don’t know, man.” He runs a hand through his greasy, sweat damp hair. He starts to shiver again, wrapping his arms around his torso. Alex takes a careful step forward.
“You get why I wouldn’t believe you, right?”
“Yes, Alex.” The chills are now back in full force, he’s sure he must be shaking like a leaf. He wants nothing more than this conversation to be over, but Alex doesn’t seem to be getting to message.
“You never get sick. Ever. So what am I-”
“I get it. It’s fine. Just...stop talking. Please.” He’s shaking so bad he can feel his teeth chattering. He pulls his knees to his chest. He closes his eyes, praying something - anything - will warm him up. He hears footsteps and fumbling, then feels a dry, warm blanket being tucked around his shoulders. He looks up, and Alex is standing there, eyebrows furrowed.
“Do you wanna lay down or something?” The thought of climbing back into his sweat damp sheets makes him cringe, so he shakes his head. “Why not?”
“S’gross, I sweat a ton.”
Alex nods.
“Right. What about the couch? You can lay on the couch and I can do your laundry.”
Getting horizontal sounds heavenly, so he nods, and Alex touches his shoulder, quickly pulling his hand back.
“What the fuck - dude, you’re like...on fire. Shit.” He tests the side of his neck and winces. “Fuck.”
“Can you just help me?” Peter is embarrassed at how small and sick his voice sounds, and the fact he’s asking Alex of all people for help, but he knows if he tries to do it on his own he’s going to fall and crack his skull.
“Yeah, yeah, of course.” He wraps an arm around Peter’s waist, and supports him the few feet to the couch. It’s not very far but his knees go weak about halfway there and he’s glad Alex is holding him. As soon as he gets onto the couch, he curls on his side and closes his eyes. “You’re ok?” Peter nods, and Alex pats his shoulder awkwardly. “Ok. Cool. Just...stay there, I guess.” Peter can hear him starting to strip the bed.
“I was maybe gonna go for a run,” he mumbles, and Alex laughs softly.
“Definitely. Then I’ll enroll at NYU for my bachelor’s.”
“You’re just jealous you don’t have all my debt.”
“You’re right. I’ve been trying to rack up some credit card bills but so far no luck.”
Peter opens his eyes to see Alex with the bundle of sheets in his arms and the bottle of detergent. He pauses for a second, shifting from foot to foot.
“I’m sorry,” he says, and Peter swallows hard.
“I know man, it’s ok.” Alex smirks.
“Alright. Don’t die while I’m gone.”

Nurse Rogers
Steve x Reader (Plationic!Bucky x Reader, Plationic!Sam x Reader)
Summary: Reader is ill so her dramatic boyfriend looks after her
Words: 3925
A/N: I seem to have a habit of writing a lot, even if it’s not that great 🤣, but I also love reading long fics so oh well 🤷‍♀️ (the ending might be a tad rushed as well but I got stuck at the end and I wanted to post something)
A/N no.2: I don’t usually write in 1st person (’I’ and ‘my’ and shit) so if it randomly jumps to 2nd person (’you’ and ‘your’ etc) I’m sorry.
Tumblr media
I am not sick. I tell myself again. I had felt it starting last night. You know how colds are. You just know when it’s coming. The scratchy throat, the sniffly nose and the mild headache when you moved. But I flat out refused to believe I was sick. If I believe I’m not then, I wont be. Besides, these things are always worse first thing in the morning and last thing at night, right?
Having survived the morning after a brief trip the gym, having to cut it short when my lungs screamed for air and spots danced in my vision, and a meeting with Tony discussing some new tech for me to use on missions (luckily I managed to control my sneezing so he wouldn’t question it), I was now on a personal mission to make tea.
Bucky and Sam strolled into the kitchen, their ‘debate’ being cut short by my loud sneeze. I somehow succeeded in not spilling boiling water all over the counter instead of my mug of lemon green tea with honey (I’m not sick. My sore throat is for other reasons. Definitely.) I immediately regretted shaking the sneeze away when my head pounded, and Bucky and Sam definitely caught it.
“Gesundheit.”
“That didn’t sound good, are you ok Y/N?”
Sam and Bucky commented. I just put on a smile, finishing making my tea and waved it off.
“Yeah, I’m fine. Totally fine. Just, dust. You know?”
Replying in a raspy voice, even I didn’t believe me. Sam and Bucky looked at each other and back to me with raised eyebrows.
“You want us to pretend that sounded even remotely believable?”
Sam remarked, leaning on the counter in front of me as Bucky rounded it and placed his hand on my forehead before dropping it and sighing.
“You’re sick.” Snapping to look at him with an indignant look I willed my voice to remain steady, “I am not sick!” I was betrayed as I sneezed loudly into my arm.
Sam and Bucky were more similar than they would ever admit as they looked at me with matching looks of ‘oh really’ but concern in their eyes. I had become fast friends with them and they knew how damn stubborn I was. I signed and dropped my head in defeat.
“You might want to try and sound more convincing before Steve gets up here.” I quickly looked up at Sam with wide eyes, in a panic. “No, I’m not sick.” Looking between the two men I knew they weren’t going to believe me anytime soon. “Ok, maybe I am but it’s just a cold, it’s not that bad. I’ve had a million colds in my life, it’s fine. I’m fine. Steve doesn’t have to know, please.” I practically whined at the end. Begging for Steve not to know.
Steve could get a little dramatic. Ok a lot dramatic. If anyone got hurt or was sick he could turn into a mother hen. Making sure they were resting, following doctor’s orders and well looked after. It was annoying really. And hypocritical. Given how his sick pre-serum ass never sat still for two seconds and fought people three times his size in back-allies. You’d have thought Bucky would be the fussy one, having looked after Steve all that time. He would make sure people had what they needed and were resting appropriately, sure, but gave you space and freedom and wasn’t overbearing.
Steve could become especially annoying when I was hurt or sick. Having been together for two and a half years, I knew this. Hence why I was trying to avoid him and deny this sickness. Luckily, he was always up first and every other morning went on a run with Sam and Bucky. Meaning he wasn’t there when I woke this morning wheezing, sneezing and sniffling.
Bucky and Sam just sent me sympathetic looks as footsteps down the hall indicated the arrival of my boyfriend. I groaned, dropping my head and letting my hair curtain my face from him as I drank my soothing tea.
Steve greeted everyone with a cheery hello, clearly Sam and Bucky behaved during their morning run and training for a change. I replied with a mumbled hello, trying to disappear into my mug.
I felt Bucky gently pat my shoulder before retreating to sit next the Sam opposite from me. Seconds later, I felt another presence on my other side and closed my eyes, breathing in the tea and hoping he wouldn’t catch on.
Of course I’m not that lucky.
*Steve had easily picked up on his girlfriend’s behaviour, not even looking at him and the clipped greeting. He took a closer look at her as he stood up straight after grabbing a bottle of water from the fridge. She was stood slightly hunched, hair covering her face as she held a mug to her face. She was slightly shivering and wearing a chunky knitted cardigan which was unnecessary in the heated tower. Sparing a glance at Bucky and Sam he noticed them avoiding his gaze. The whole picture was off to him.*
I felt Steve place one hand on the other side of my head before planting a kiss on the other side, keeping his hand in place as he spoke.
“You ok, sweetheart?”
I still didn’t look up as I finished my tea,”Mmhm, yeah. I’m ok.”
Steve sighed, clearly not believing me. He may be in an idiot sometimes but he wasn’t dumb. Taking the mug out of my hands and placing it on the counter, he gently directed my face to look at him. I kept my eyes down but could feel his scanning my face before copying Bucky’s earlier actions and placing a hand on my forehead and tutting.
“Y/N you’re sick.”
I heard Bucky and Sam take in a sharp breath as I slowly meet Steve’s stern, but worried, gaze. I knew it was pointless trying to argue, but I was going to anyway.
“Not I’m not. I’m…slightly under the weather. With a common cold. It’s not even a bother. I’m totally fine, not even that bad. I’ve definitely had worse.”
“Y/N.”
Here it comes.
“You are sick. You should be in bed. It could get worse and you don’t look fine. You’re pale, shaking, your eyes are red and puffy, your nose is red, your lips are dry and chapped and your voice sounds bad, should I go on or are you done?” I groaned and closed my eyes, rolling my neck I spared a glance to the guys who immediately found something on the counter more interesting. Useless so-called best friends.
Steve nodded once before declaring that I was going back to bed. As he quickly made me a fresh tea I leaned into the guys, who coved their faces from my infected breath, and glared. “Traitors. Some best friends you are, totally useless.”
“Let’s go.”
Groaning, again, I dropped my head and muttered, ‘I hate Nurse Rogers’, causing the traitors to let out a laugh. I pushed off the counter and trudged after my Nurse, pout on my face.
*two days later*
I had been confined to my bed, only granted permission to get up to use the bathroom. It was much more tasking to convince Steve to let me have a shower last night than interrogating HYDRA agents. I was currently trapped under many layers of blankets reminding myself I did in fact love my boyfriend.
My symptoms had gotten worse, as they always do in the early days of a cold. The ones I could hide from Steve, I did. The coughing fits, runny nose, teary eyes and croaky voice were impossible to hide from him. But he didn’t know that my whole body ached, my head was pounding and that my chest cried out with every breath. He’d only freak out and try to force me to the med bay, completely unnecessary.
I tried not to glare at him as he softly made his way over to sit on the bed next to me. Another mug of lemon tea was placed on the bedside table as he handed me some water and painkillers to take as he checked my temperature, again. I had given up trying to stop him, actually I had just stopped talking to him altogether. Communicating in nods and various hums when he asked something. He was frustrating, but he only did it because he loved me. Something I had to remind my self of more and more frequently and the minutes ticked by.
“Temp hasn’t changed much. I brought you another tea and some mild snacks that should also be gentle on your throat. Here’s some more tissues. You take your pills?” With eyebrows raised I just nodded at Steve who was somehow tucking the blankets tighter and fussing around me.
“I have to run out to the store so promise you’ll stay in bed, drink your tea and try to eat something. I’ll be back very soon.” With an ‘mmhmm’ from me, Steve gently kissed my head before, thankfully, leaving. The furthest from me he had been in the last two days was the kitchen of our shared floor. Even then, he kept the door open so he could still see me.
I waited ten minutes before confirming with FRIDAY that Steve was out of the building to- with great difficulty- throw the covers off. I had made the mistake of shivering last night which got me wrapped up in a hundred layers. However, a couple hours ago, it all switched, and I was way too hot. This meant I was a disgusting, sweaty mess now.
I quickly sprayed some deodorant on, changed my clothes into some breathable pj bottoms and a tee and brushed my hair. Grabbing my slipper-boots and tea, I’d be in so much bother if I didn’t drink it, I dragged my aching legs to the elevator.
“Hey FRIDAY, where’s Barnes and Wilson?”
Luckily FRIDAY is a high-tech AI designed by THE Tony Stark, meaning she could still understand my horrible voice. The effect of not speaking for a while made my throat scream and I tried to sooth it with my tea as I was informed the guys were in the gym.
A coughing fit broke out as the doors opened to the gym and yet I somehow managed not to spill any tea and walk in. This, of course, caught the attention of the two sweaty men in the middle of yet another competition, both turning to look at me.
“How the hell did you get away from Steve?”
“Did you finally snap and kill him?”
Bucky and Sam asked as my coughs eased, free hand slightly pressing on my chest as I got my breathing back.
“Ha Ha. I don’t think I could if I tried right now.”
I made my way in front of the boys, who’s faces scrunched into sympathy and concern as the sound of my voice.
“He had to go to the store so I finally got my chance to bolt. Escape the confines of my bed. And to see my two favourite guys, of course!”
I laid it on thick at the end, smile wide- well, as wide as possible when they’re so cracked and sore. The boys just smiled and rolled their eyes, despite being sure they knew what I wanted, they asked anyway.
“Please, please, please, distract Steve. I am begging you. I will do anything, and that is a lot to promise to the two of you!” “Hey, offended.” “What do you expect us to do? Trying to get him to leave you is like convincing Tony to go to bed.”
Bucky had a point. Steve had cancelled all his training, gym time, meetings, everything. Just to stay with me. It was sweet, in a way. He loves me, but he’s smothering me. There’s a line.
“Maybe…you could make up a mission? Or spice one up a bit so that Captain America is needed?” The only chance Steve would leave is if innocent lives were at risk and he was needed. It had to be important and urgent, it was my only hope.
“’spice up’. Are you kidding, Y/N? You want us to lie about a mission just so you can have a break?” “Sam you have no idea what I would do. I cannot take anymore of this. I know he’s trying to help but to be honest he’s just prolonging this. The tea is the only thing working right now. I’m not dying but if innocents might be in danger of dying, they he’ll leave. Hopefully.”
Bucky dropped his head with a sigh. He knew better than anyone how Steve could be. During his recovery and adjustment into the 21st century and away from HYDRA, Steve was with him almost 24/7. After two weeks in the tower, he couldn’t take it anymore. He had slipped away from Steve and found himself in the lab with Tony and me. It didn’t take much begging for Tony to lock us in the lab and Steve out. He loves to mess with Steve.
“Ok. Sam, don’t you and Nat have that mission this afternoon? Maybe you could tell him there’s been some chatter and Captain America is needed.”
Sam looked at Bucky in disbelief and betrayal that he gave in so quickly. Also, that what Bucky came up with would pin him to blame when Steve finds out. But one look at my tired, begging, teary puppy eyes, had him caving.
“Ok, ok. I’ll let Nat know. Maybe we can tell him there’s word of more guards or hostages or something. But when he finds out, I’m blaming you, Tin-Arm.”
When Steve returned half an hour later, I was back in bed- with significantly less layers of blankets- watching Scrubs re-runs on tv and explaining things to Bucky who had cleaned up and offered to keep me company, without fussing over my cold.
Steve, after announcing his return and greeting Bucky, was immediately at my bedside again spewing question after question about how I was feeling.
“Hey, Punk, ease up. Try taking a breath and you might get an answer.”
Bucky came to my defence and Steve snapped his mouth shut. Bucky smirked slightly as he glanced at me and I smiled a thanks in return.
“I think Sam was looking for you. Something about a mission.”
“Yeah, I caught him downstairs. They have a meeting soon and leave in a few hours but-“
“Go” I rasped out the first work I’d spoken to him in days. My voice definitely felt worse after being mute for 48 hours then talking and laughing with Bucky for the last 30 minutes. But I didn’t show it.
“But I don’t- what if you- I wouldn’t be back for a couple days and you’re-“
“Fine. She’s fine, Steve. Don’t want to make your girl feel guilty if someone got hurt or killed because you chose to be dramatic about her basic, easily recovered from cold over going on this mission, do you?”
Damn. He’s good at this. Ok little mean, definitely a guilt trip. But it’s working and I need a break.
“I’ll stay with her. Get your butt to the meeting and go do your damn job.” I placed a hand over Steve’s and with a comforting smile told him I would be ok. With much reluctance and many glances, Steve gathered what he would need and headed out. Not before kissing my head goodbye though. He tried to tell me he doesn’t get sick with the serum so just let him kiss me, but I was not allowing myself to suddenly cough or sneeze into his mouth. Yuck.
Steve POV
(Two days later, back at the compound)
“So, you two lied to me?” Steve stormed through the halls, still in his uniform, Sam and Bucky trailing behind. He was infuriated.
He had easily realised he was not in fact needed on the mission the day after they arrived. He had decided to ignore it and just complete the mission as he was already there. The second they landed at the compound, however, Steve had turned to Sam and Natasha in fury. Natasha was quick to announce she had no part and take her leave. Bucky had made the mistake of meeting them when they landed, a mistake Sam was grateful for.
“Well, yes, but-“
Steve cut Sam off, “You lied to me. Made me go on a mission I was not needed on while Y/N is sick. I should have been here, looking after her. She could have-“
“She asked us to do it.”
Steve stopped and turned to Bucky, eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
“Y/N asked us to do something. The only thing you would leave her alone for is a mission- If innocent lives were in danger.” He explained, softly. He knew as well as Y/N did that Steve was overprotective out of love.
“She did what? Why-why would she…?” Steve questioned, quietly. He was hurt. He just wanted to look after her, like a good boyfriend and friend should. He wanted her to be ok because he hated seeing her down or hurting or sick.
“Because she was going crazy. Dude, we know-she knows- that you love her. Like a lot, man, getting you to shut up about her is near impossible. But you get a bit much when any of us are sick or injured, but when it’s Y/N, man you go overboard.”
Steve was silenced by Sam’s confession. He just wanted everyone to be ok. He had realised he could go a little over the top sometimes, but every member of the team is so damn stubborn. Natasha dislocated her shoulder the year previous and, against doctors orders, was in the gym the following week. Clint had the flu the previous winter and still insisted on flying himself back home to Laura and the kids.
Both Tony’s therapist and the med bay doctor told him he needed to sleep more, and not at his workbench (it was not good for his back!), and yet he hadn’t listened. Steve is the only the one who still regularly pressures Tony to sleep. After the accords and Siberia incident, when everything was settled and everyone returned to the compound, Steve made an effort to pay more attention to Tony. Noting all the mistakes he made before. Tony did well at hiding his PTSD, anxiety and lack of decent sleep. But once Steve realised, he made it a personal mission to help him and regular, good sleep would go a long way. Even if it usually included arguments, threats to get FRIDAY or call Y/N down to get all his equipment shut down and even occasionally just picking him up, fireman style, and carrying him to his bed. After a 9 day stretch in the lab Steve had carried Tony to his room and stood guard til he was asleep (he had a habit of sneaking back out) and it wasn’t long until Tony was out for the night.
But Y/N, she was so important to him. And just as stubborn. Steve couldn’t bear the thought of her being in any sort of pain or anything bad happening her. He certainly couldn’t imagine losing her. It scared the shit out of him. He was just trying to help.
“Steve,” Bucky broke his prolonged silence, “she loves you, she knows you’re just trying to help her. But it’s just a cold. She just needs rest and occasionally painkillers for the headache. She admits the tea was helpful, but it’s hard to rest with hourly temperature checks, a game of 20 questions and those concerned eyes watching her 24-seven.” He pointed to Steve’s eyes, a smile on his face, and the corner of Steve’s mouth twitched.
“I guess I could, back off a bit. I was a slightly dramatic for a common cold.”
“Slightly?! Dude, just, ask her what she needs. Be there for her without taking over. You know she calls you ‘Nurse Rogers’ right?”
Steve laughed, “Really? Well I guess it’s appropriate.” He nodded and thanked his best friends.
Y/N POV
I was curled into my side, covers over my head and facing away from the windows. Curses aimed at my boyfriend swirled around my pounding head, why the hell did I agree to not have blackout curtains? I could have got black out blinds underneath for when he isn’t here. Maybe I’ll ask Tony next time I see him. Steve liked to wake up and see the light entering the room. He’s an early morning person and I’m not even a morning person. I accepted it though, actually got used to it and mastered the ability of easily falling back to sleep with the light. But my head hurts so much that the light is ten times too bright, making my eyes burn and the cold monster pound it’s heaving fists against my skull.
The rest of my symptoms had either disappeared or lessened. I no longer had a runny nose or teary eyes, no sudden sneezing or constant coughing and my throat was much better. I still had mini coughing fits and my chest ached, but not as much as the previous days. Unfortunately, the headache was relentless.
This is how Steve found me, the door slightly and slowly scuffing across the carpet and his light footsteps alerting me to his presence and identifying them as him. Bucky’s footsteps where slightly louder (and he had visited many times the last couple days) and Sam always swung the door open quickly. I didn’t raise my head though. I hadn’t long taken painkillers after waking up and they had yet to kick in.
I felt the bed dip and Steve carefully perched at the edge next to me and I braved peaking over the covers at him. He held a small and soft look on his face which brought me comfort. I had missed him. Well, I had missed Steve not Nurse Rogers. Bucky had checked in, especially first thing in the morning and last thing at night when I felt the worst, just to ask if I needed anything, and we watched a couple movies. I was perfectly able to look after myself, I did it before he came along and I can do it now.
“I know you got the guys to send me on that mission.”
I cringed and looked up at him, guilt on my face.
“It’s ok, I know I’m, a lot. They told me. I just love you so much and wanted to help. I guess you got too much of ‘Nurse Rogers’ huh?” He smirked slightly, running his hand through my hair.
“I’m sorry.” I mumbled from under the overs, my mouth still hidden.
“Do you need anything? What do you want?”
“I want my boyfriend. Not a Nurse. I want my boyfriend to just lie in bed and watch crappy tv with me.”
He moved to get into bed, but I stopped him, “after he takes his uniform off and takes a shower.”
15 minutes later I was curled into my boyfriend’s side, head on his chest as we watched some baking programme arguing over who’s cake was better. He had one arm round my waist, thumb rubbing soothing circles on my hip and the other running through my hair. It wasn’t long until I was asleep, happily in his arms and already feeling a hell of a lot better.
