Wheelchair user ! Tighnari Au
Tumblr media
⚠️ Spoilers for the Sumeru archon quests. TW for canon major character injury, spinal cord injury ⚠️
It’s so unlikely that Tighnari would have walked away from and fully recovered from a lightning strike as depicted in the archon quest. So for the purposes of this Au, vision holder plot armor has been removed.
• Immediately following the strike, he’s blinded, deafened, and loses consciousness. It isn’t until he comes to that he realizes he was thrown several meters away by a shockwave.
• Everything hurts, but particularly his head, his right ear, and his back. He stays on the ground regaining his bearings until Dehya helps him to his feet. It’s then that he realizes he can’t feel his legs.
• Dehya mentioned that she has seen lightning strike victims, and so has Tighnari. They both know that his immediate symptoms are temporary, and that he just needs to rest for a few hours. This is why he insists he is fine, even as his legs get so weak that he needs to sit as they talk.
• Except even after those hours of rest and most of the symptoms are gone, his head, ear, and back still hurt, and he still wobbles like a newborn deer when he stands. It only takes him a moment of trying to walk it off to realize that his tail is limp.
• That is when he realizes that something is very, very wrong and that he needs to see the bimarstan. Tighnari makes the decision to leave Hypasia where she is, knowing his back might be broken, and that trying to lift her might hurt both of them. He takes Karkata with him too, in case he can’t continue. He’ll send someone to check on her as soon as he gets to the city.
• He makes it to the bimarstan in the middle of the night, collapsed over Karkata and exhausted. Someone is sent for Hypasia and he is rushed to a bed for treatment.
• The next few hours are hazy and he falls asleep at some point. When he wakes up again, several days have passed. His burns and head are wrapped in bandages. A hand flies to his tail to make sure that it is, in fact, still there.
• A doctor tells him that he has a concussion, a blown earn drum, and nerve damage. They couldn’t determine the extent of it with him asleep and with the concussion, so they have to wait until that heals to know the true extent of the damage.
• It’s nearly a month before his concussion is gone. In that time, Cyno, Collei, and traveler have come to visit him. He hasn’t been able to stand at all, otherwise he would have returned home to heal.
• The neurological eval determines that he has no reflexes or sensation at and below his pelvis. Without imaging, they can’t tell what exactly caused the complete spinal cord injury between the lightning strike and his arrival at the bimarstan. Tighnari doesn’t remember what happened either. Either way, the damage is already done.
• Understandably, he is devastated by the news. He already knew that was the case, but it never sunk in until it was confirmed by a doctor. At the same time, he insists that he won’t let it limit him from his research or working with the forest rangers. He can’t.
• The next day, an evaluator comes to fit him for a wheelchair. Tighnari stubbornly advocates for it to be made for an active life in the rain forest, despite the evaluator insisting that he wouldn’t be able to return to his job. In the end, he gets the modifications he asked for, and it will be ready for him to use in a week.
• One of the biggest fights he has with the medical staff is to keep his tail. They all want to amputate it, since it’s ‘useless’ now and a huge risk for injury, but he fights hard. He will not let them take it.
• While he waits for the wheelchair, the doctors teach him how to care for himself long-term: how to get dressed, how to clean himself, how to self-cath and do a bowel program. And, at his request, they also come up with methods for him to do the above without injuring his tail.
• As soon as the wheelchair is ready, he starts learning how to transfer, push himself, do wheelies, all the important tasks for self independence. He isn’t allowed to go home until he can prove he can get around on his own, so he practices and practices all day long.
• He gets discharged several days later and finally, finally gets to go home. Cyno is there to escort him, which is great even though he wants to push himself the whole way. It takes time to build up strength for that, and he was confined to a bed for the greater part of two months.
• While he was gone, Gandharva ville was made as wheelchair accessible as possible. All the ramps and roads have been leveled and cleared of obstacles. Initially, they’re too tiring for him to push up, but with practice he can eventually get up them just fine.
• Some things need to be lowered in his home, but once that is done, his life returns to normal. Collei did a great job of keeping things in order while he was gone, and despite the other rangers’ initial worry, he is still a strong, capable leader and completely independent.
• If he can help it, though, he never wants to go to Sumeru city again. That place is completely inaccessible.

Danny, You Need To Calm Down
Me: "I need to nerf Danny a bit for this fic. I should have him only reveal and use his intangibility."
Danny: *is still BAMF and kicks ass*
Me: "Hmm... I did not think this through."
---
I am serious, though. If you're creative enough and have watched enough superhero media then you'll be able to find all sorts of unusual applications to some of Danny's powers.
With intangibility alone, all Danny needs to do is stand there and let his opponent tire themselves out trying to just land a blow and then fight back. If he has some more melee or martial arts training, he could use a nerve strike and bam, one-shot knock-out. And that's not even counting super strength or flight or telekinesis or why is this boy so overpowered?! /rhetorical
And if you know me, you know how much I love writing a good OP BAMF Danny. But it can be pretty restricting too. With an abundance of powers and a proven track record to gain more powers when necessary, it's not exactly easy to keep Danny down. There are a few known weaknesses we can use to our advantage here, but they come with their own issues:
Major Weaknesses
Blood Blossoms
We've seen blood blossoms are pretty effective on ghosts from the "Infinite Realms" episode in Season 3, but only on Danny's ghost half. I always thought it was a bit strange, since Danny has used ghost powers in his human form so technically it should still affect him? But that's just a personal headcanon so feel free to ignore that.
But! Since Danny could just transform (if he can get past the total agony it causes him) then he'll be fine again. Blood blossoms are also edible, as proven by Tucker, which makes me wonder if Danny could eat them in his human form and make it out unscathed? Since it's only his ghost half that's susceptible to them.
However, it's commonly headcanon'd that blood blossoms are extinct as we only see them in this episode back in the 1600s from the Salem Witch Trials. But canon also tends to bring up some really interesting concepts and then just... never mention them again, so it's possible they're still out there and the Fentons just never learned of them.
Ecto-ranium
We don't see this one come up too many times in fanfiction, if only because many of us have totally blocked out the episode it aired in, "Phantom Planet", from our minds entirely. Ecto-ranium is essentially the equivalent of kryptonite, but for ghosts. (Unsurprising, seeing as Phantom Planet likely took inspiration from Christopher Reeve's Superman II.)
This does come with some plotholes of its own, seeing as intangibility had allowed the ecto-ranium to pass through the Earth despite ecto-ranium supposedly making it impossible for ghosts to use their powers? I'm still trying to wrap my head around that one, I won't lie...
So obviously this weakness also has some shaky ground to stand on.
Mind Control
We see in "Control Freaks" that Danny is pretty susceptible to mind control as well, so long as it comes from the right source. We learn that Vlad continues to collect ghostly artifacts, so it's entirely possible he could find another magical device of equal power and use. Freakshow himself comes from a family with a wide range and collection of ghostly artifacts.
It's also possible that ghosts like Undergrowth could be able to control Danny as well, as he was able to puppet Sam through his vines and plants.
Danny is still capable of breaking through the mind control, if given enough reason to. There is also proof, though, that he can do a lot of damage to himself and others before that time comes. Just food for mischievous author thought.
Plasmius Maximus
This device only appears in the episode "Maternal Instincts" but Vlad had created it to shorten out Danny's powers for three hours. This is another instance of an interesting concept that disappeared after one episode, but considering how Danny used it against Vlad, maybe the man just didn't want to risk it a second time.
Nonetheless, this does prove Danny's powers can be temporarily locked away. How this is possible isn't exactly clear, but I've taken to using a yarn knot analogy to explain it. I won't bore you with that explanation (unless you're actually interested) since it leans more into fanon and headcanons than canon.
Lesser Weaknesses
Blackmail
Now this isn't really a surprise to anyone since Danny is a good kid and most superheroes have this weakness, but Danny is very much susceptible to threats made against his family and loved ones. We see that Freakshow uses this against Danny in "Reality Trip" to make him do his dirty work, as in: collect all the pieces for the Reality Gauntlet.
We might make jokes that Danny could easily defeat anyone he comes across, but the truth of the matter is that he takes these threats seriously and he's lucky more people haven't used it against him.
Inexperience
This one is more understandable and maybe not even technically a weakness but this boy is so silly stupid sometimes it's honestly really endearing. He doesn't have the best grasp of his powers so he can make all sorts of unfortunate mistakes. Danny is the type of person who learns as he goes, and thanks to the fact his one eligible teacher also so happens to be the same guy trying to murder his father... his options are a little limited.
However, this can be easily fixed given enough time and practice. Danny might not have any formal training but he's also proven to be a very fast learner which could very well make up for whatever else he lacks. Due to the unique nature of himself and his powers, there's also a chance that even with a mentor he would still largely be self-taught.
---
It can still be pretty hard to write though. When you want to have high stakes, then you need to have a credible threat. And for a kid that has a gazillion powers, all with countless applications, it gets a lot more complicated. Honestly sometimes Danny might not have even needed the new power if he just applied one he already had in a different way? But so is the life of a teenage, overpowered superhero.

i know everybody makes fun of Thalia and Jason for being underpowered compared to the rest of the Big 3 kids, I have done so on multiple occasions myself, BUT. Okay.
I do think the Grace siblings aren't so much underscaled to the others, but instead their powers just aren't nearly as precise. Like, Nico and Hazel can control literally any stone/earthenware/metal material and summon reinforcements and a whole bunch of other little things, Percy can control all water just in general, etc etc. Jason and Thalia? Jason can control all air, which is OP as fuck when you think about it. He flies through controlling the air to lift him. Which means he can lift/carry/etc anything by just controlling air the right way. Like, people talk about Percy being OP as fuck with the water thing but Jason's on pretty equal ground with "can control all air/wind."
And then the lightning/thunder. I know everybody likes to go "oh well what if they could control nerves and electrical impulses!" you are thinking too specific/minute. We don't need to go that far. The Grace siblings can cast a concentrated fucking explosion whenever they want and it will not harm them at all AND it has area of effect damage and potential residual effects. Armor does not do shit against a literal three MILLION volts. And lightning is BIG. Like okay yeah sure not great for small combat or close-range with allies but put either of them against an army? Bye bye. Does not stand a CHANCE. And we've already established in The Lost Hero that if you put Jason in a room full of conductive metal and his allies are not at risk? You are a GONER. Zero questions! You can fight skeletons and rocks and maybe water. You cannot fight three million volts straight to the face. The Grace siblings do not need bells and whistles they have Cast Beam Attack and there is nothing you can do about it. And this does not even touch upon how fucking loud thunder is.

✗ MINORS / AGELESS / BLANK BLOGS DNI.
Tumblr media
Despite the exhaustion of post rut, you cannot bend to another alpha’s wishes, even those of your vessel’s captain.
Law’s arm is mid-motion when you seize it. His nostrils flare, but he’s in your den—temporary as it is. His scent thickens, but hardly matches the volume and intensity of your own.
The mix of them teases your salivary glands. The blanket you’ve favored for the duration of this rut is full of puncture holes—perfectly shaped marks where your fangs have sunk in and pierced; turning the fabric into a poor mimicry of flesh.
“I’m taking your temperature.” A silent command to release him. He does this for everyone: a final checkup before the recovery period. A formality he adheres to.
“Then do.” Still, you do not let go.
Law’s eyes narrow. He pulls, almost experimentally. You fight the urge to snarl—remiss to release him: to surrender the upper hand you have. And the contact is good, a part of you preens—the touch of another person, the warmth and firmness beneath your palm. Even if you wanted to, you could not bring yourself to uncurl your fingers.
“Don’t be stupid.” His scorn prickles down the length of your spine. Law has no shortage of insightful thoughts, but your eyes have instead focused on the toned length of his neck: the seamless dip of his clavicle to his exposed chest. The skin is flawless—no sign of a claiming scar; a canvas for his tattoos and you, your quietly aching teeth.
What a thing it’d be to claim him. And how easy it would be to push a harmless bruise or two into him: alpha he may be, but his flesh is just as susceptible to damage as the rest of them. Nothing would last—it wouldn’t take unless you were to bite.
Just the thought of it is intoxicating. Giving temptation a name you dare not speak aloud. Imagining your hands on him is easy with his scent seeping out, enveloping you.
Your mouth spreads in a grin. Taking advantage of his surprise, you readjust your grip and yank.
But Law, true to his reflexes, deflects with a palm flat against your forehead, thrusting you back onto the bed. All at once you’re aware of how messy it is—the presentation laughably inadequate for a heat partner. Though, Law is not your companion; he’s just a man—a fellow alpha that falls easily into wrestling.
You match his growl with your own, thrusting a hand out to try and topple him—not wanting to be bested in your own den. Adrenaline surges through you, blood going hot: relishing the pressure of another person’s hand on your sternum. Your body is still tender.
The skirmish reveals his throat again. This time, you cannot hide your fascination, veins buzzing; lost in the excitement, you snarl. A low, wordless challenge—a turn from playful grappling.
When next you grab him, it’s not to push him off. Post rut makes you clumsy. He sends the two of you sprawling on the floor. You keep a fist in his shirt, angling yourself forward, teeth snapping hungrily.
Law is quicker at getting his bearings. Manhandles you into a prone position on your stomach with a quiet huff of victory.
“The rut’s gone to your head, idiot,” he snaps, but his hands are much more patient with you—scanning for injuries, pressing tentatively. Nothing amiss but the tender spots where he grabbed and flipped you; and your bruised pride, to boot. “What the hell were you thinking?”
You weren’t, really.
You try to buck him off, nerves crawling—for space, for skinship; it’s not easy to tell, tangled up in your haze. Beneath the control of another alpha, you merely groan and thrash.
Law shoves his forearm into your face.
“Bite,” he commands. Your jaw sets—unwilling to submit to another alpha’s demand. Law presses harder against you, hand clenching around your wrist. “Bite.”
It feels a little like guilt when you do—chasing the pungency of his scent gland. Blood rushes in your ears when you do—jaw opening for a mouthful of the soft, fleshy part of his forearm. The tendons in his wrist go taut. His tattoos taste as human as the rest of him.
You can feel his pulse against your gums: the warm, iron-victory of his blood on your tongue. It’s a little humiliating how the taste makes you moan, muffled into his arm. It’s not a neck, but it doesn’t have to be.
You don’t even notice that his grip has shifted—the pleasure of finally having another’s flesh nearly overwhelming—nor do you notice the collar of your shirt being tugged away, or the warm puff of air across your nape: swallowed by the feverish haze of your rut.
But it is noticeable when Law’s teeth sink into you. Getting his lips on your skin to bite.
Instinct has your jaw opening in favor of jerking away. But he grunts, shoves his arm harder into your mouth. Blood and saliva slicks your bottom lip, pearling and dribbling along the curve of it.
There’s no intimacy in this particular mark. It’s nothing but an unspoken reprimand as Law situates himself, your hips locked tightly between his knees.
Scuffle settled, it takes time for you to accept defeat. Going limp. The muscles in your face finally loosening.
Law releases you. The air is cool, circling where his mouth was.
“Have you calmed down?” he asks, voice rough. His arm is motionless. Blood sinks into the divots of your molars.
“And if I say no?” you ask, unconvincing with the drawl of fatigue in your voice. Rearing your head for one last show of control.
Law drags a thumb along the stinging skin—as if surveying his work. A pacifying gesture. Not unkind, but not born out of benevolence. He’ll treat it later, indubitably. None of these marks will last a week, and that—you think—is a damn shame.

zerobase1 and how they play genshin | zb1
WHALE | META | CASUAL | NOT A GAMER
TAGS: headcannons, crack-ish, lowercase intended
A/N: as a genshin player and zb1 enjoyer, i own a wealth of knowledge. if you don't know what i'm referencing or talking about then i'm sorry lmao i get rly into genshin
WORDS: ~600 (~100 each)
Tumblr media
WHALES 🐋
GYUVIN - ok puppy dog has no spending sense and would swipe swipe swipe until he got the character. or somehow get his account robbed and card details stolen. wouldn't swipe for c6 on characters but would swipe for all the skins.
plot goes soaring over his head. though, he'd get 100% completion completely on accident bc he runs from chest to chest completing everything bc ooh shiny. (it's what i do)
definitely hops across different coop worlds to be an absolute menace. steals all your starconches, beatles and cor lapis and leaves.
a whale so team comp doesn't quite matter, but i feel like cool burst animation is a must.
RICKY - need i explain? he doesn't even play the game often, he just sees a cool looking character and swipes. feels like he would c6r5 a character if he really liked them. would get surprisingly into event content just for the exclusive items etc. cares mildly about the plot and zero for the exploration.
would play cool and pretty characters bc when you're a whale, team composition just doesn't matter.
Tumblr media
META 🎮
MATTHEW - a confirmed nerd by his sister so you bet he's an enthusiast. pays attention to kqm, twitter and future patch leaks. grinds out for the spiral abyss and has op asf team combos. would spend but only if he knows it's worth it.
enjoys the plot and characters, but not massive on exploration. still enjoys all the characters thoroughly and knows more lore tidbits than most. is the sweetest coop friend.
GUNWOOK - okokok he'd be apprehensive at first until he pulls like c5 benny and a eula then the world of dps (damage per screenshot) awakens. fights wars in the trenches of the honeyhunterworld comments section. stays updated and dips in and out of the game.
secretly stays about for plot. finds exploration boring but can admit it's pretty. the dude who refuses to swap characters when doing coop domains. does a boss blitz when bored.
Tumblr media
CASUALS 💫
HANBIN - ok only got it bc the kids said he should. (gyuvin uses him to get the coop achievements) actually ended up staying bc wow everything is gorgeous, the plot is engaging and the characters have depth! and it's all free ?? goes about it at a decent pace, doesn't do spiral often, just finishing floor 10.
tcg enjoyer and event player.
ZHANG HAO - TEAPOT MAIN god yeah hella into the teapot. only completes the story and everything for the teapot. comes on sometimes to help hanbin out or bc someone else needs mats from his world. has a solid overworld team for collecting mats etc.
mildly enjoys the plot but exploration is where it's at.
Tumblr media
NOT A GAMER 🌱
JIWOONG - only got it bc everyone else did, found out it took too much space on his phone, deleted it. tried playing it on gunwook's pc but had to play zhongli with his shield up 24/7 bc mechanics are hard okay! does see it as pretty and that yeah some characters are worth spending money for but there are better ways to find enjoyment in life.
TAERAE - doesn't mind it. he just doesn't see the hype over online characters. if and when he does play, it's on someone else's account and on the tcg. man loves the tcg, making decks and sweeping the floor with everyone.
has insane pull luck.
YUJIN - hmmm he sorta thinks it's cringe but gyuvin makes him play it. defo a valorant kid. tried to make a gun didn't work. plot doesn't matter much to him, interested in some character backstory but dips out when it comes to exploring. yujin defo thinks childe, xiao and alhaitham are cool. paimon gets on his nerves the most.
Tumblr media
i had lots of fun doing this so i hope you enjoyed ! leave a like or reblog if you did :) ⭒ masterlist

hi im bucky and welcome to my long list of kiryu and majima headcanons mostly revolving around health related stuff bc that interests me. ive talked about it before but ive been wanting to reveal my mastermind plans for them. ive vaguely alluded to these all in my fics like friday night and phanto. anyways heres a list. may range from mildly nsfw but in a more medical way not a sexual manner since idc about that sort of thing
KIRYU
So for Kiryu he is a trans man who forgets his t injections every day of his life. every time he gets out of prison he has to restart on it and every time he has to go through all the initial stages once again like an evil cycle of hormones.
He has extreme nerve damage in his hands/fingertips due to severe hypothermia suffered at the end of Yakuza 5, and therefore cannot feel in his hands anymore.
Also suffers from a migraine disorder.
He deals with a very prominent compartmentalization problem stirred by his ever-changing life stages. A sort of out-of-sight-out-of-mind mentality born out of his fear of losing absolute control over his life. This goes hand-in-hand with general low empathy.
This also results in an extremely flippant attitude towards both sex and romance. He is not committal at all and does not imagine himself settling down. He is a reserved person, but he doesn’t shy away from sex. He lives in Kamurocho, after all. He’s just mostly desensitized and is mostly neutral towards it as he gets older.
Yes hes bisexual love wins. But he has a low opinion of the men in his life thinking them callous and more difficult than he wants to deal with. This increases with his age and the worse the villains get. He almost has a mentality of needing to Win and Be Won in regards to romance. He must Prove Himself, or someone else must prove themself to Him.
Oh yeah and TMJ sorry to his jaw.
His life is in constant disarray and his self-contained environments reflect this. His living spaces are messes. Ashtrays filled with countless stamped cigarettes and shelves lined with half-eaten food and beer cans. He doesn’t want to be regarded as sloppy but theres something in his brain that makes him struggle with Cleaning his own spaces. There’s something about his mind that likes the control he has TO mess up his own space.
He has several single-tooth partial dentures mostly in his molar area. he has one prosthetic canine tooth.
He is no-op in regards to his transition. T has shrunk his chest enough that it sags loosely. If you’re curious, he’s dry as a desert down there. sorry.
He doesn’t exactly have a circadian rhythm. He sleeps and wakes up whenever he wants, and his brain does not register Night/Day. Meaning he could sleep through an entire day and his brain will not register sunlight. This results in getting him up to be extremely. Extremely difficult.
Big one, he lives with something like CTE. (Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (double parantheses because this condition cannot usually be diagnosed while someone is alive)) Which exemplifies his already present suicidal ideation and depression. Out of anyone in the series Kiryu has taken some of the Worst bodily trauma over a LONG period of time. It has taken a toll on his body and mind.
MAJIMA
Oh boy!
Majima has a hormone imbalance ever since the hole. if you remember in my fic Phanto I alluded to him being completely impotent and sterile due to a castration in the hole. He has gynecomastia and hypothyroidism but has no qualms about it. He’s not dysphoric about it at all, and tries to stay extremely vigilant about his testosterone intake (tgel, needles scare him).
Because of the above he has little to no sex drive, not to mention the extreme trauma relations to it. He has complexes on top of complexes about it. So he just doesn’t do it.
He has a weak right knee, which is the one he uses to kick/attack as he’s able to use his stronger leg as support. His arms and legs are longer than his torso, and he has an extreme slouch, which presents itself as a very permanent slouch crease on his stomach fold.
He has a distrust of men, mostly older than him, and is not a cis man, although he doesn’t have the language to describe himself or his sexuality. He’s old and doesn’t feel the need to.
Blatantly, not even just a Me headcanon, but Majima does have a mentality of needing to be beaten in order to fall in line. In relation to pretty much everything in his life. It’s much stronger the younger he is, and weakens as he gets older, aided by his improving mental state. By 7′s time, and he is an emotionally healthy person. Hiccups are to be expected, but they’re nothing to shame or be ashamed for.
In Dead Souls he discusses needing to keep his hair cut at an exact measurement. He is a massive micromanager in regards to Anything at any given moment. His living arrangements are extremely empty and uncreative.
The younger him was extremely flippant about caring for his eye, which resulted in several infections and close calls. It’s one of the reasons he decides to get his eye exenterated when he’s older. Somewhat of a symbolic thing as he works through his trauma, letting go of this thing that has clung to him, Literally an Infection. He changes things up, and lives happier for it. He wouldn’t have been alive it hadn’t been for Nishida.
He is one of the most intelligent people in the. Yakuza Team or whatever. Regardless of his deteriorating memory issues, he reads like a motherfucker and can beat anyone in almost any mind-game.
This is a byproduct of not considering the Kiwamis (majima everywhere and majima construction) as canon, but my Majima is very heavily inspired by 1, 2, and the movie iterations of Majima. Meaning, he is not a generally “nice” person. He is extremely empathetic, and reads people very well, but he tends to hold these qualities over peoples heads when he’s younger. As he gets older, these qualities shift to more. Altruistic purposes. He isn’t nice, but he is an understanding person.
I also shift the timeline around to place his marriage with Mirei before the events of 0 to allow better, smoother story progression. And I’m not going to handwave away anything he did because oh yeah did he fuck up.
Speaking of relationships, if Majima were to ever, he would be Very Attached. He is monogamous by heart, and is more about mental connections over inherently sexual or romantic. He is a One-and-Done person. He isn’t flippant like Kiryu, and holds an extreme amount of value in loyalty and love. He is not one for more monetary romantic gestures. He values touching a lot more, but discourages touching HIM. He’s stone. He feels love in being the one to touch, and for his partner to Be touched By Him. And I’m not talking about sexual practices or anything. But if that did progress to that, expect similar results.
However, adding to that, he is not going to try to “make things work” in any way. He will walk away if requested, and he will walk away at the inclination of things Just not working out. He jumps to conclusions quickly, but it is for good reason. Knowing when to bow out keeps him alive.
Back to body stuff. He has dentures along his entire bottom jaw. His top teeth are very discolored from smoking, resulting in a visible difference between his top and bottom teeth.
And whatever here’s Kazumaji bullshit too because I am predictable.
They’re more friends than lovers, if that makes sense. Regardless of the amount of love shared between them, their lives are a long string of boats passing by. Their loyalty for each other is extremely strong, and underlying love does carry this, but they can’t exactly settle down anytime soon. Majima talks to him as a confidant, not as a lover, and Kiryu speaks to him the same. It’s almost more intimate in a way. Neither of them put up fronts when they’re alone. They are both private together, speaking to each other ways they’d never speak to anyone else.
If we’re on a scale, Kiryu is the more romantically affectionate one. He’s the one who thinks of dates, who thinks of kissing, who thinks of whatever else. Majima doesn’t initiate any of this due to his before-said complexes on top of complexes.
Yet, on the flip side, Majima is the one who could most easily fall into domesticity. It’s something he’s fantasized for himself ever since he was a boy, and something he cast aside immediately following the hole. He imagined a family impossible for him, and has attempted to cast aside that part of himself. But there’s no destroying Who you Are. He wants to be a tender person. Once Saejima, his strongest familial relationship, returns, he lets that side of himself regain a foothold in his brain.
This is both supported and contradicted by canon depending on the game, but I’ll settle on one. Despite Majima’s reservations and trauma, he is more trusting than Kiryu in a lot of situations. (In Yakuza 2: “There’s nothing wrong with putting your trust in a guy...”) Kiryu will tend to be cynical and have to be “won” in order for him to put his trust in you. Majima, however, will put his trust if he feels he can, but is very liberal with rescinding it.
Kiryu goes through a phase in his romantic relationship with Majima where he feels unwanted due to Majima’s low intimacy drive. The only way that’s resolved is by talking. There’s a lot of things they cannot get out of their relationship with each other, and that’s absolutely fine. They find other things to make it work.
On the flip side....... Kiryu’s revolving-door life results in Majima feeling cast aside again and again. It’s not that Kiryu thinks of hurting Majima, but his idea of romance is very different to Majima’s. He thinks he can just put on a new skin and live out an entirely different life as a different person. This is what causes their relationship to fizzle out time and time again. Their relationship is a very, very unstable wave. It’ll be strong, weak, whatever. The bottom line is that they’re never going to be able to reach that Perfect Meeting Point.
BUT this is all from Yakuza 1-6....Post 7, and I have no idea! Maybe they can try again and see themselves more successful due to their Very different life circumstances. Without the clan to hold either of them back, maybe they can make things work. However, I can’t imagine them ever making anything “”official”” as in calling each other boyfriend Or getting married. Their relationship is strange and tumultuous but they genuinely. wholeheartedly Love each other.

I am in a mood. I want nothing more than to kiss Op all over his face and tell him how handsome he is.
(That's a Mood, anon. Here we go with TFP Optimus because that mech really needs some soft moments that won't kill him.)
This is a rare moment of privacy between you and Optimus. Something precious as everything seems to be in order long enough for him to step away for a break, and made far more dear with the clear night of constellations hanging above and no other humans for miles and miles. Whole areas are blocked out due to massive mudslides and the subsequent damage to popular trails. An easy fix to get around with the ground-bridge and a being that's nearly 30-feet tall to step around most obstacles.
Optimus has a fondness for nature, particularly for the deeper wilds that are relatively untouched by the modern day. There's something wistful and nostalgic in his expression as he gazes out.
And right now, you're straddling him. Optimus is mass-displaced, putting his height and frame in a more human-friendly size. Still large, but far more manageable to reach.
You lick your lips and his gaze flickers down for a moment, and your mouth dries out a little more at that subtle tell. "So anything I want, Big Guy?"
"Yes. Anything." He says with that gentle self-deprecating ghost of a smile as his servos curled over your waist, digits resting on the hem of your shirt.
He still feels guilty that there's only so many places you and he can go. Between his obvious paint-job and the tumultuous levels of Energon production at the base, it's better to cautious with his holomatter usage.
"Okay. Close your optics," you command and he obeys.
"You," you say clearly, "are wonderful." You press a firm kiss to the base of the decorative grill piece.
Those 'brows lift, startled but then his face smoothes out, optics clicking but still shut-closed, mouth parts slightly. His fingers curl across some bare skin, but he remains under you.
"Strong." You press a feather-light kiss over his left optic.
"Attentive." You do the same to the right one.
"Absolutely gorgeous." You kiss the subtle hint of a nose-bridge and he makes a noise, engines thrumming as you linger over his mouth but you go to his chin instead, lips brushing over the protective gear. "Stupidly brave."
"And yet you still have kindness in you after everything." You press your lips over his cheeks, feeling the slots of his mask on both sides.
"That was two," he murmurs and a far happier smile graces his own lips.
"A freebie," you quip as you steel yourself for this one.
You don't have his easy way with words or that innate sense of poetry, but this had been mulling in your thoughts for a long while and you might as well spit it out before you lose your nerve. You cradle his face in your hands and press your forehead to his. Optimus has to hunch down to meet you as you stretch up. "If you are the ocean and I am the lighthouse, then I hope I shined enough light to guide you through some terrible storms."
There's the immediate prickling of intent upon your skin, leaving goosebumps and shivers, and your throat catches as he pulls you close and rasps out, "You've been holding out on me."
Your tongue fails to language properly, so you meet his mouth with your own and Optimus falls back and you follow.

More epithet side effect stuff
Percy — she gets stiff and numb limbs from overuse. Her hands tend to lock up, and it’s a struggle to move.
She tries to plan ahead of time for it though, and does stretches she learned from physical therapy. She’s good about it, but she sometimes forgets to do her stretches, or let herself take breaks.
Also, y’know the Tetris effect? Yeah she has that. She passively thinks about how she could bulid one of her structures in X place and if it could function, and if so, how well it could function.
Ramsey — ???? I have literally no clue skfkfkdk. I don’t think he has any side effects, like Indus. BUT, his arm is janked up a bit from being y’know. Cut off. There’s some nerve damage, and that hand now tends to shake and jitter. He also has back pain, look at that man. Shrimp posture 🦐🦐
Zora — her epithet passively raises her body temperature, so she’s always running a little warmer than most people. The more she uses her epithet, the warmer she gets. She’s grown a tolerance to it, so she can take the heat better than most. Usually this is manageable, and she doesn’t get beyond being uncomfortably hot. However, if she overuses her epithet, she can get heat exhaustion, and even heat stroke if she pushes it.
Whenever she’s sick her body goes into Maximum Overdrive and she ends up with a HIGHHHHH TEMPERATURE. She gets into VERY dangerous territory.
She isn’t ever really prepared for overheating, since she’s stupidly OP and so doesn’t have much of a risk of overuse. When it does happen though it gets BAD since she’s never really prepared for it and is prolly too stubborn to let herself rest and get someplace cold.

Uh oh Grumpy Moody Fox is here. He’s been deprived of PA for too long where’d Yuu go?? 🤔
So, I've been thinking about it, and trying to decide where they are and why they're not bothering Fox, and I think I finally have it~
You scowl at the red head sitting across from you, the redhead who has the nerve to be sleeping, and you kick him awake, "This is all your fault." You hiss. General Obi-Wan Kenobi frowns at you, "My fault?" "You're the one who keeps making Separatist enemies! They're not after me!" That's right. Once more, you've been kidnapped. Though this time, you really were in the wrong place at the wrong time. The Chancellor wanted a photo op on the Resolute, unfortunately the Resolute took some damage on their last campaign and it wouldn't have been a good look, so you did some digging and you suggested using the Negotiator instead. The Chancellor wasn't thrilled with the idea, but he acquiesced after you sent him some pictures of the Resolute compared to the Negotiator. You had been talking to the photographer, an old friend from high school, trying to work out the best lighting as well as how to work with security with General Kenobi, when a group of Separtist soldiers appeared from out of nowhere and grabbed all three of you. General Kenobi kicks your foot, "You should be grateful, they were going to kill you until I told them who you were." "I am grateful, but we're still hostages!" You hiss. "It's fine. Someone will come. Commander Cody knows that we're missing." General Kenobi says loyally. You sigh, "Fox is never going to let me go anywhere without a person guard from now on."

“You are not allowed to give up.”
February 17, 2024
ROBERT B. HUBBELL
Vladimir Putin killed his chief political opponent on Friday. Alexei Navalny, a Russian hero and patriot, is the latest in a long line of victims of Putin’s murderous regime. Navalny was in prison north of the Artic circle when he allegedly “died suddenly” on a “walk.” Most of Putin’s victims “fall out” of second-floor windows or die from exotic poisons or nerve agents. President Biden said,
Make no mistake: Putin is responsible for Navalny's death. What has happened to Navalny is yet more proof of Putin's brutality. No one should be fooled, not in Russia, not at home, not anywhere in the world.
Of Navalny, Biden said,
He was brave. He was principled. He was dedicated to building a Russia where the rule of law existed and where it applied to everybody.
Putin kills with impunity. Coincidentally, Donald Trump is currently urging the Supreme Court to grant him (and all other US presidents) the power to kill their political opponents with impunity. Even more coincidentally, Trump has not condemned Putin’s assassination of Navalny—leaving Trump alone among US and Western democratic leaders, all of whom condemned Putin for the death of Navalny.
The assassination of Navalny comes as the GOP is under the thrall of Putin. Trump and congressional Republicans are doing Putin’s work by refusing to provide supplemental funding for Ukraine. MAGA poster boy Tucker Carlson provided a platform last week for Putin to spread his lies about Russia’s history and territorial claims—including his claim that Ukraine is “not really a separate country.” Even Putin was derisive of Tucker Carlson’s pathetic interview. See Business Insider, Putin Says He Thought Tucker Carlson Would Ask Tougher Questions.
President Biden also condemned Congress for its inaction on Ukraine in his remarks on the assassination of Navalny. After his formal remarks, a reporter asked President Biden if there was anything the US could do to accelerate the delivery of aid to Ukraine. Biden responded,
No, but it’s about time [Congress] step[s] up, don’t you think? Instead of going on a two-week vacation.” Two weeks, they’re walking away. Two weeks. What are they thinking? My God, this is bizarre, and it’s just reinforcing all of the concern and almost – I won’t say panic – but real concern about the United States being a reliable ally. This is outrageous.
The heroism of Navalny highlights the cowardice of House Republicans. Mike Johnson is damaging US foreign policy so he does not provoke the ire of Marjorie Taylor Greene. See op-ed by Eric Garcia in The Independent, Navalny’s death has shown Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson up as a coward.
Garcia explains that Mike Johnson did not spend the last two work days on the Senate bill granting aid to Ukraine but instead wasted time on the Mayorkas impeachment:
Johnson did [so] in the service of appeasing Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, the right-wing conspiracy theorist and Trump ally from Georgia, who is also an ardent opponent of funding for Ukraine. The fact [Johnson] refused to cross the person largely responsible for him being Speaker shows how unserious he is. Marjorie Taylor Greene has pledged that if aid to Ukraine goes to the floor of the House, she will file a motion to vacate the chair of Johnson. This comes despite the fact that many in Johnson’s conference want to support Ukraine and most Democrats would vote to help pass a bill doing so.
In other words, Mike Johnson is willing to allow Ukraine to fall to Putin because he wants to remain in his job as Speaker of the House—under the thumb of Marjorie Taylor Greene. What a pathetic, cowardly existence.
Against Mike Johnson’s cowardice (emblematic of all congressional Republicans) is the heroism of Alexei Navalny. In anticipation of his own assassination, Navalny left these words to those who remained behind:
If they decided to kill me, then it means we are incredibly strong. We need to utilize this power to not give up, to remember we are a huge power that is being oppressed . . . . We don’t realize how strong we actually are. The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good people to do nothing, so don’t be inactive. You’re not allowed to give up.
We do not need to make Alexei Navalny’s ultimate sacrifice to follow in his footsteps. We just need not to give up—even when the odds against us seem overwhelming. We can do that. We have been doing that.

febuwhump day 9: voice loss
episode: Brand X | tw: medical procedures | general audiences
He wakes up at 3:12pm, while she’s sat by his side.
“Scully.” It’s the most broken, pained sounding way she has ever heard him say her name, quiet and raw in his throat, but it makes her heart swell with relief.
“Hey.” She takes his hand and leans into his field of view. “Don’t try and talk, it’ll hurt too much.”
Mulder nods, agreeing for once without argument. The last time he was awake, he’d been in high spirits, or at least high enough spirits to make jokes to calm her nerves. Now, though, he’s exhausted, despite being unconscious for the best part of the last week. Slowly, his body has been recovering from hypoxia, the tobacco infusions, and the two further rounds of deep suction to rid his lungs of the remaining tobacco beetle larvae.
He’s been asleep for all of it, and this time she hadn’t been able to give him any warning. Before any surgery, she’s his source of information, the only one he trusts to tell him the truth. In the pre-op room, before the first suction procedure, he’d asked her if he’d feel any of it, and how long it would take before he’d wake up. She’d resisted the thoracic surgery partly because she knew he wouldn’t survive it, yes, but also because she knew he’d want to know beforehand. He’d want the chance to say goodbye.
Right now, his eyes find hers, asking questions and seeking answers. Four days ago, he flatlined on the operating table when the doctors first injected him with nicotine, and Scully had wondered what she’d do if she never got to see his eyes again.
“It’s been a rough few days.” Her voice cracks, and she swallows past the lump in her throat. “But you’re okay now.”
He flicks his eyes to the machines around him; she knows what he’s asking. This is their routine, whenever he wakes up in hospital: he asks what everything is, and she gives him a summary of each machine, what they’re all doing to keep him alive.
“You’ve got BP being taken every few hours. Heart rate, temperature and blood oxygen are being monitored round the clock, and you’re being given fluids and nutrients through a feeding tube into your stomach.”
She points to the thick tube running from his neck. “You’re still hooked up to the ECMO, as a precaution, but it’s not been oxygenating you since last night – since your O2 levels are good, they think your lungs are doing okay, so they’ll be disconnecting it in the next few hours.”
Mulder’s forehead creases in concern.
“They’ll put you under sedation for that, but it’s a relatively minor procedure. No risks.” That’s a lie – there’s always risks, no matter how minor the surgery – but she doesn’t want to scare him. He’s pulled through the last few days – she’ll be damned if he doesn’t make it through a simple cannula removal.
“Your throat and lungs are still recovering. They’re damaged, but they’ll heal, you just need to rest your voice for now.”
He nods again. She isn’t used to him being this acquiescent – it unnerves her.
“Mulder?”
The hand that’s not in hers moves into an okay signal, and he moves his wrist in an up-and-down motion. He wants to write.
“I’ll get you a pen.”
A few minutes later, she holds a notebook as he moves his hand slowly along the page. He hums to tell her he’s finished, and she glances down.
There, black ink spells out I love you. He looks up at her, still exhausted, but eyes shining with life and love, and Scully presses a kiss to his lips as she finally lets herself cry.

for the vp drabble requests: idk if you can even do anything with this since it's only a concept rather than an actual plot idea but i'm personally obsessed w the thought "vegas may sometimes have pete on a literal leash, but the one holding it in their lives and relationship is pete" (something something vegas learning to let someone take care of him and pete gaining agency in his own life)
OP i am so sorry that this is perhaps the most liberal interpretation of the theme possible but i did go hog-wild and write a thousand words of it while off my ass at 2 am so
Vegas understands the human body — the ways in which it works and fails, the ways in which it can be broken apart and stitched together, the paper-thin line between causing pleasure and pain. He understands how easily the same hands that touch Pete with reverence and devotion can be used to maim and destroy.
He looks at Pete, in all of his open, guileless vulnerability, and he thinks: If I didn’t love you so much, I could kill you so easily.
And yet, Pete turns to him, and offers himself up, and puts his life at Vegas’ mercy. He meets Vegas’ eyes and his gaze says, silently, If it’s what you wanted of me, I would gladly die.
They do not talk about the angry mass of scar tissue or the nerve damage to Vegas’ arm. He had seen the concern on Pete’s face the first time his body had threatened to give out and he had squeezed Pete’s throat a little harder with his good hand, and that ended the conversation before it had a chance to start.
He understands his own body and wishes he didn’t. He knows its pains and twinges and itches and its untold, unceasing miseries. He knows how to shove down the constant scream that builds in his gut and claws at his insides. He knows that there’s a great void inside him that hurts and hurts and hurts and that can’t be sated or calmed. He lies awake at night, Pete nestled close against him, and imagines smashing the useless meat and bone of his arm into a bloody pulp. It makes him feel good, or as good as he can, to think of tearing himself apart in such a fashion. The void inside him will never be full, but he feeds it anyway, lets it feast on the thought.
Pete sighs and moves closer in his sleep. He is teetering on the edge of a precipice, but when Vegas calls his name, he only turns and smiles.
He says to Pete: ‘You’ll leave one day.’ They had all left in a row, with Mama leading the way. Now Papa is gone and Macau will leave them soon enough and then Pete will go, and once that’s done, he’ll go too.
‘Don’t say that.’
Pete always sees the good in him. He is the closest Vegas will ever get to filling that empty space inside himself.
Vegas thinks, If you stay, you will be swallowed alive.
‘It’s alright,’ he says. ‘No one will blame you.’
‘I don’t care if anyone would blame me,’ Pete says. ‘I only care about what I want, and that’s you.’
‘For now.’
His hand is shaking involuntarily at his side. Pete takes it in his own. Vegas can feel the smooth line of the scar on his palm.
‘My heart is here,’ says Pete. ‘I’m not leaving.’
‘You’ll die if you stay.’
‘I’ll die if I leave.’
’And if I order you to?’ says Vegas.
Pete says, ‘I don’t think you could.’
His father had beaten him like a dumb animal for so long that it’s impossible to see himself as human any longer. The man who had shot him at the poolside had only done what you do with dumb animals too old and broken to be of any use any longer, and it’s only Vegas’ bad luck that he didn’t finish the job.
He stays alive for Pete, and for Macau, and for the gnawing fear of dishonoring his father’s memory by taking the coward’s way out. But Papa would be disappointed in him for the pitiful thing he’s become anyway. There is no escape from his shame, no matter if he lives or dies.
He is nothing, always has been nothing, always will be nothing. He sees Pete and the way Pete sees him, with fondness and softness, and he feels a vicious stab of guilt for the deceit. The scream that builds and builds inside of him, every hour of every day, is begging for release. The force of it could level mountains.
‘What will it take for you to see sense?’ he says.
‘You have an odd definition of sense,’ says Pete. ‘Come here.’
Vegas does not. He feels as though the yawning emptiness inside him will pull him under, too. He says, venomously, ‘Why would you love me when my own papa couldn’t?’
‘Oh,’ Pete says, more of an exhalation than a word, as though he’s just been punched. He goes to put his arms around Vegas, and Vegas shoves at him with the heel of his good hand.
‘Tell me,’ he demands. He wants to hurt them both and he knows he has. He can see it reflected in Pete’s eyes and it twists the ache in his stomach even tighter.
Pete cradles his cheek in his hand. ‘He should have.’
‘But he didn’t.’
‘I know.’ Pete’s thumb strokes over his skin. ‘I’m sorry.’
Vegas swallows and says, ‘Then what did I do wrong?’
He doesn’t say, Because don’t want to do the wrong thing again. He doesn’t say, Because I can’t lose you.
But Pete knows, because Pete knows him with a clarity Vegas will never know of himself. He says, ‘You didn’t do anything. It wasn’t your fault. It was his.’
He doesn’t say, I’m not him. He doesn’t say, I told you I wouldn’t leave and I meant it.
But Vegas knows.
‘I want to be better,’ he says.
‘You’re good enough as you are. More than enough.’
Vegas is nothing. He is a small sad thing, a worthless, burdensome failure, a drowning man lost at sea.
But Pete is drawing him in anyway, patient as ever, gathering all the jagged, shattered pieces together with gentle hands, pulling him to shore and saying, Fall to your knees. The ground is solid. It will not fail you. It will not give way. You are safe. I am here.
I am here.

✨️ UPDATE (finally... sorry) ✨️
Hi friends!
First of all, I am now 4 months post-op, and recovery/rehab is still going very well! I am having some testing done in the coming weeks to try to figure out what's causing the nerve damage to my left leg/where the damage is in order to try to fix it, if it's fixable. In the meantime, I'm having a custom AFO brace made to help with my gait issues. My leg/lower back pain has improved by about 80% compared to the week before surgery, which is HUGE. I've been doing aquatic therapy for the past 3 months, which has helped tremendously.
Secondly, I'm DELIGHTED to announce that I have finally landed a job! I will be working remotely - 100% from home - as a Crisis Counselor for my state's Suicide & Crisis youthline. (I will be the person who answers the phone when someone calls the helpline.) I'm relieved to be employed again and so, SO excited about this opportunity! This job is absolutely ideal for me right now - for a number of reasons - and it was more than worth the wait (and the super intense interview process... seriously, PHEW). Training starts in mid-July.
Last, but not least: because I won't start getting paychecks until August, I will need financial help - approximately $800 - to get through July. If y'all can share, I'd REALLY appreciate it!
Venmo: Mellifluity8
CashApp: $mellifluity8

Thank you SO MUCH to all of you who have unfailingly supported me throughout this difficult process. We're nearly there! 💛🙏🏻

Cipher Academy ch.43 thoughts
[This Place About to Blow]
(Contents: Minor cast analysis, Iroha analysis)
Welp, Iroha's dead, series over I guess
So I'm admittedly disappointed that the dungeon doesn't seem to have monsters or enemies, just puzzles presented diegetically, though it's possible that Nisio just doesn't want to show his hand too early. For now, I'm going to assume that there's nothing fantastical until proven otherwise so I won't set myself up for further disappointment
I do really like that the aesthetic for the question boxes has changed to the glasses frames, that's a really nice touch and makes it feel like we're literally seeing from Iroha's perspective in that moment
I also like that even if there aren't enemies, the floors do have a pretty significant level of variety, including casino, mahjong parlor, aquarium, and overnight train. That last one in particular gives me hope since it means that the floors don't have to be stationary rooms. For all we know there could be a UFO floor or a floor the size of an entire town, but again, I'm getting ahead of myself
It's interesting seeing everyone planning their strategy, you need to have a clear approach when tackling a procedural game. Toshusai considering waiting for her group (strength in numbers) vs. speedrunning (getting experience, not sitting around) is the kind of question that only the frontrunner could have the luxury to consider. If she speeds ahead, she could get into trouble that she's not prepared for, but if she stays still, someone like Kubinashi could catch up and surpass her before her allies do
Speaking of, Yugata says she's planning to move ahead 25 floors to reach 175, where we know Kubinashi is waiting. Why is Yugata trying to get to Kubinashi and not Toshusai? I can't imagine she's plotting a betrayal, so if anything I'd wager she's either planning to snipe Kubinashi back to the first floor somehow or she has some pressing questions that she needs answered
Karigane notes that she can't leave messages behind or make any alterations that might help her trailing teammates, which implies that she was intending to do exactly that. Leave it to the mystery book fan to want to leave helpful codes behind
Meanwhile, Hanagoromo is checking to see if she can find any glitches or shortcuts, which makes sense for a member of the undercover ops Class E. Naturally, Hanagoromo's inclination is to check under the mahjong tables since she spends so much of her time under tables herself, but it also seems like a good place to look for glitches. Visual assets in games are often used to either obscure graphical errors (like Daisy's third eye under her hair in Melee) or to create optical illusions that give the impression that a visual looks how the designer wants, so in a room full of tables, there's a good chance that one of them is hiding some kind of unavoidable or possibly even deliberate error. I don't know if that error will be at all helpful for Hanagoromo, but hey, speedrunners break games in all kinds of novel ways, and I haven't got a single clue how they go about doing that in the first place, so godspeed to her
We cut to Nohime, Kogoe and Zakuroguchi acting as overseers of the game, each of them eating their signature food: Kogoe has a corndog with copius amounts of toppings, Nohime is sipping tea, and in the most shocking twist of all time, Zakuroguchi is eating a pomegranate (Zakuro meaning pomegranate). Man, this is making me want pomegranate...they're in season now, right?? Ah, but they're expensive...
ANYWAY!
We finally learn what Nohime meant went she said she lost her sight from a "dazzling code;" her vision was damaged while roaming the puzzle dungeon's prototype! The way they're talking about it, it sounds like they're saying that her eyes were physically damaged by the game, which implies to me that having the code projecting directly into her eyes by the glasses effectively fried her optic nerve or corneas the way that looking at the sun might. I can't imagine how much light is needed for a screen to recreate solar retinopathy, but I have to assume that the visual output of the glasses has been toned down to prevent that from happening again
Moving back to Iroha, he's joined by Koshibai who gave up her 100 floor advantage just so she'd be able to experience the entirety of the game. Even ignoring the fact that she just wants to have fun, I absolutely see the benefit in resetting: by skipping ahead so far, the player isn't just making up a lot of ground, they're being put in an inherently more difficult scenario without any clear baseline of what to expect. It's bound to be easier for a player starting at floor 200 to be killed by a lvl200 puzzle than it would be for a player whose had 200 floors to learn the ins-and-outs of the game as a whole, at least that's what I'd expect. Even if I'm technically smart enough to last at that skill level, I'd much prefer to work my way up so that I'm more familiar with the mechanics first
That said, we can be pretty sure that Iroha has the technical skill to be higher up, and yet he's having a lot of trouble on BF1, isn't he? He's getting way more flustered than he usually does, even considering that he has a ten second time limit. Hakanage's invisible ink puzzle was way harder than these ordnance puzzles, and he solved that quickly and calmly, but this is what's throwing him?
Well that's because, as Zakuroguchi points out, Iroha is already predisposed to having an aversion to ordnances. Astute readers may remember that Iroha told Yugata in the lipogram battle that he has an explosives handling license, which means that Iroha has experience with them. Despite having the license and skill to handle them, that doesn't necessarily mean that Iroha isn't afraid of them, and in fact is likely traumatized by them, either from a bad experience within the course he would have had to take to earn that license or from an event that prompted him to get his license in the first place. I still think some if not all of his cheer squad were killed in an explosion, hence why he also has trypophobia, and that trauma is giving him trouble dealing with this particular scenario
Koshibai encouraging Iroha to have fun with the game could be interpreted as her picking up on his insecurity, giving him the reassurance and grounding he needs to stop panicking and solve the final puzzle quickly. However, as we see with the explosion, it would appear that Iroha's newfound peace of mind did not allow him to find the right answer
Since Iroha was employing the right-hand technique to solve the maze (keeping your right hand on the wall to move along the perimeter and ensure you don't end up walking in circles), he missed the initial left turn that he was supposed to make. Because he took the wrong turn right at the beginning, it's hard to say how that affected the answers after the fact, but it's possible that they were trying to get him back on track, so maybe a few of the questions should technically be reversed?
Either that or the Xs don't refer to the shapes made by combining the arrows, but rather by overlaying the turns he was supposed to make themselves? If that's the case, then I think the answer should have been 3, as Iroha "crossed" over three times (1 to 2, 4 to 5, and 6 to 7, with 3 to 4 and 5 to 6 going in the same direction)
That, or Iroha DID notice something else (he did say "there's also this thing...") that gave him the hint he needed to solve the puzzle and the explosion we saw was what was supposed to happen, and Iroha and Koshibai are now moving down to the next floor through the opening created by the bomb
Honestly that's what I'm most expecting to happen, as knocking Iroha back to the start when he's at the start would most likely create needless padding, unless perhaps the stages change pretty significantly between visits. I suppose we'll find out soon enough, but that's my bet for now

🍰 Chapter 1
When Simon first interviewed for The Great British Baking Show, he hadn’t expected anything to come of it.
He had started baking after getting medically discharged from the military, a catastrophic mission causing irreparable nerve damage in his arm. His first few months of living as a civilian were difficult and Simon had struggled to acclimate. The army had been his sole purpose since he enlisted at 18 and after nearly two decades of service, he was left adrift. It was his therapist that recommended baking. He had fond memories of his mother’s baking, one of the few highlights of his childhood, so it would be a great way to "reconnect with himself, " or whatever that meant. It was also something to keep his mind and hands busy; baking required its own sort of discipline that soothed the soldier in him. His physical therapist also approved, saying that the physical labor of it all would be great for his recovery.
Regardless of the reasoning, Simon quickly found that he actually enjoyed baking. He had started with simple things from some of his mother’s old recipe books he had saved after she passed, gaining confidence until he began trying to recreate her homemade recipes from his childhood. He found himself with a surplus of baked goods and there was no way he’d be able to eat it all, so Simon just… gave them away. To his neighbors, to the postman , to his local soup kitchen, and even to his old captain, John Price, who had retired a few years before him and insisted on visiting monthly.
When Price had almost waxed poetic about his fruit tarts (Price loved strawberries and Simon thought that the lemon curd would be suitably refreshing for the hot summer day, he wasn't trying to show off , okay — ) Simon had felt his face flush in embarrassment and he had shoved a freshly baked custard cream biscuit into Price's mouth to shut him up. He wasn't surprised when Price demanded he bake something for not just their visits, but also for him to take back home and "tide him over" until his next visit. Never mind the fact that Price owned his own cafe and had access to his own baked goods ("Stop being modest, Simon! Your biscuits blast Shepherd's out of the water, I can't believe I had to keep him on when I bought the place, he's so stuck in his ways, you know, and he's costing me customers! I can't wait until his contract is up and I can actually hire a real baker and not some crusty-").
Price had always been kind to him, though, ever since they met when Simon was 20 and freshly traumatized from a failed op in Mexico, so he paid little mind to the extravagant compliments. He laughed when Price kept offering him Shepherd's head baker position at Cafe 141, knowing that Price was just teasing him. And he snorted when Price had suggested he apply to The Great British Baking Show, appreciating that Price was just trying to increase his confidence in his baking.
Apparently, Price had been serious and wasn't just trying to make him feel better.
When Simon had gotten an email about scheduling a phone interview, Price had confessed to filling out the online questionnaire application in Simon's name. Simon had gone through with the phone interview, assuming that his blunt and gruff responses would eliminate him from the pool of possible contestants. When he was contacted again to schedule an off-camera series of bakes to judge his knowledge, he assumed that it would become clear he was an absolute novice and therefore not a good contender. When he made it to the next round and was asked to do a screen test, he figured that his awkwardness would only be amplified on camera and that would be the end of that. He did not expect to hear that his awkwardness came off as endearing, of all things, and that he just had to pass a psychological screening. Simon knew that would be the end of it all — he was many things, but psychologically sound was not one of them. It seemed like his military service had prepared him a bit too well, though, as he was deemed more than capable to handle the stress of the show.
Simon had been with Price when he received confirmation that he'd b the end of th that would bee on the show. He had frozen in shock while Price had whooped and hollered, clapping him strongly on the back and declaring to the patrons of it all — he was many things, but psychologically sound was not othe next winner of sThe Great British Baking Show.
Simon expected to be kicked off the first week of the show. He didn't expect to stay, week after week. He didn't expect to win Star Baker three times. He didn't expect to become one of the fan favorites. He didn't expect to make it to the final, facing off against a pretentious expat Texan named Graves and a selectively mute but insanely skilled man named Gary. He certainly didn't expect to win .
Over the course of a year, he went from a ghost of a man whose contributions to society were lost to a blacked-out file, a no-one in a black medical mask, to a much-beloved television personality whose face almost everyone knew. The change was overwhelming.
He couldn't even pick up his groceries in peace. Simon was one more "Can we please get a photograph with you?" away from packing up his flat and hiding away in the countryside for the rest of his days as a baking hermit when Price had approached him once more. Simon nearly slammed the door in his face when he arrived at his home, blaming Price for his entire predicament and unwilling to be dragged into any more shenanigans. Instead, he was offered a job. Again.
Price had finally been able to get rid of Shepherd and was looking to hire a new baker for Cafe 141. Who better than one of his favorite soldiers, a great friend, and the year's winner of The Great British Baking Show? Simon was dubious about the offer but Price ran a hard bargain; Simon would be the head baker and therefore could boss around the two underlings to his heart's content , he could bake whatever he wanted as long as the cases were stocked, and he didn't have to interact with any customers. He could stay in the back and bake in blissful (somewhat) solitude while still being able to work on new recipes and bring home a decent paycheck.
So that's how Simon "Ghost" Riley found himself joining Price's motley crew of veterans at Cafe 141. And that's where he met his biggest fan, one John MacTavish.

Omg I was talking with a fellow tumblr user about Ozai and then I realized that the Loser Lord was the embodiment of a traditional saying we have in my country.
"He who wants it all shall not get any of it."
It's interesting how his most powerful motivator (a mixture of greed, pride, wrath, and envy) made him seethe with rage in deep unsatisfaction when many would have been very content with such a high station (except for Azulon being an ass, which was the catalyst of Ozai's descent into his sociopathic megalomania). Yet his thirst for power and recognition were never quenched not even when he finally one-upped Iroh through his plot with Ursa. He just had to want to outdo all of his evil genocidal imperialist forefathers lol. I think it would be nice seeing an analysis if his character through a lense based on the 7 deadly sins.
Through his never ending greed, he ended up losing everything, down to his firebending.
I remember reading an amazing meta where someone thinks that comics Ozai is somewhat OOC because show Ozai was so utterly destroyed when he saw Zuko it seemed he was simply too far gone to try and mess with him anymore. I personally think that this is such a cool take and that the OP's arguments hit the nail on the head, especially in that Ozai knows fully that his ableist heavily militarized country will never ever accept him back after a disgrace far worse than Iroh's post-BSS siege and his new nonbender status. He could definitely start plotting against Zuko after a while maybe, but he'd need Azula more than ever and he'd seek a regent position where he would get to be a puppeteer. His plotting would also be far more "elegant" (read : entertaining to watch) than what happened in the comics IMO.
My personal HC, though, is that dude eventually went catatonic, cementing the energybending as a less than stellar option with logical realistic repercussions, hence why Aang only uses it on Yakkone but not for everyday trouble makers maybe. It would also enrich the plot in that each decision/action has consequences. Sometimes, mercy doesn't come with more pleasant results (i.e : death sentence vs life sentence debate, I think life sentence is far worse than the death because damn what's a fucking life locked up in a teeny tiny cell in a terribly miserable setting esp if one has to do heavy work as a jailbird?), and it's only normal and deserved for the magnitude of Ozai's crimes.
I might be a little dense, but I personally didn't feel that the debending itself was that horrible tbh(since we weren't shown the repercussions like maybe nerve damage ?? Being extra cold ??? Having worse health/chi/whatever than ppl who were born as nonbenders?), like aside from Ozai's insane attachment to it, since I saw cool nonbender characters thrive, I was like "You got off very lightly you jerk...stfu Zuko got it worse losing his face and half of his sight/hearing. I don't want to hear your whining." 🤣
PS: I am not dissing Aang's mercy or trying tl say he wasn't merciful (he is by far so forgiving and kind, he even tried to reason with hell kaiser before fighting him ?? Like what a sweet kid !!). I think he did what he believed was right and his punishment was actually chef's kiss. I just wanted a little bit lore details/a more multi layered approach by authors. I've read some fantastic fanfictions address this side of energy bending, and my goodness, they were excellent.
