Finally, there was the analogy with political revolution – conceived and engineered by a group of individuals working to realise a shared vision of the future.

While a DeSantis presidency terrifies me, anyone who thinks it matters much is either lying to themselves, or is privileged enough that they don't yet feel the direct brunt of the systematic violence every US president does to folks here and internationally.
Things will have to get a lot worse for more people before a breaking point is reached among the masses that enough is enough. This is why community organizing and political education are more important now than ever. Joining a party can be a great step, but even if you just make small talk with neighbors local to you, especially your homeless neighbors. If people see you as a peer, all while introducing them to ideas rooted in historical and dialectical materialism, there might be hope yet for us all.

If women all around the United States turned off their television sets for an extended period of time and purchased no products other than the very basic necessities to protest exploitation of women ... these actions would have significant political and economic consequences. Since women are not thoroughly organised and are daily manipulated by ruling male groups who profit from sexism and female consumerism, we have never exercised this power. Most women do not understand the forms of power they could exercise. They need political education for critical consciousness.

Every Worker Needs a Union - by Joshua P. Hill - New Means
"But it never comes out of nowhere. None of it, neither the massive announcements nor the many smaller, significant pieces of labor news this week emerged in a vacuum. ... They have refused to stem their own greed, and have, over the last four decades of Reaganism and neoliberalism, pushed a country with a massive middle class and tens of millions of comfortable people towards ever increasing precarity."

With both Donald Trump and UK politics trending here on the same day- it begs the question. Is the rebel child country AND its parentage having a “let them eat cake” moment? Should I sharpen the guillotine? Do you hear the people sing???

Today marks one year anniversary of 2022 Iranian uprising against the oppressive Islamic Republic regime. An uprising that started with the brutal murder of a young kurd woman, Mahsa Jina Amini, for "inappropriate hijab".
For the past couple of weeks, the regime has prepared their forces to beat down any new movement immediately. The streets of Tehran and many other cities are lined with anti riot forces and police cars. In Saqez, the home city of Amini family, they've stationed the army around the city to massacre people in case they try to start another wave of protest. Mahsa's father has been arrested alongside some family members of other last year uprising martyrs.
There has been small protesting gatherings in Iran in the last two days, there has already been some arrests and violent crackdowns on protesters. I hear people chanting from my neighborhood homes. The government would commit as many bloodbaths as it takes to secure their position, but you can't beat people into obedience when they hate you from the bottom of their hearts.
