CAMP UPSIDE DOWN PART ONE
Steve Harrington x fem!reader[33K] summer camp, broken kayaks, too much tension and that boy you hate. an enemies to lovers camp counsellor story.
She drives me crazy and I can’t help myself.
By week four, you were in need of a break. And when a scheduled day off of yours finally aligned with Robins, you wasted no time in organising some time out of camp. A small trip to another nearby lake, one without yelling kids and sun bleached kayaks.
The sun was high, the air was warmer than ever and the promise of a day in the water sounded like magic. You wanted green lakes, blue skies and roads lined with trees. You wanted the mountains in front of you and the camp in the distance for a few hours, music that you got to pick, and a bikini that wasn’t uniform regulated.
You’d packed a cooler, cans of beer that Jonathan had snuck into camp for you both, sandwiches from Bob and you a pile of junk food that would go great with the joint Robin had been tasked from getting from Eddie.
You didn’t expect your friend to meet you at the staff parking lot with the boy in tow, grin sheepish and her baseball cap jammed backwards on her head.
“Hey, Munson,” you greeted easily, if not a little confused. You stood by your car, cooler at your feet, looking between the pair.
Something suspicious was going on and it tugged at your gut.
“Mornin’ sweetheart,” he smiled, eyeing up your car like it was being evaluated. “Yeah, I don’t think this gonna fit us all, y’know.”
You turned, wide eyed to Robin and she flushed before kicking at a stray rock.
“Come again?”
Eddie grinned, slapping a hand to your shoulder before gesturing to Robin. “Buckley invited us to join you both. She said music, swimming and food, and I was all, how could I say no to that?”
But you weren’t really listening to much else the boy said, the summer turning warmer around you because all you could focus on, all that seemed to matter was:
“Us?”
But then another bag was being dumped beside yours, the smell of cedar and mint and boy filling the air and you didn’t even bother looking before you were shaking your head at Robin.
“No.” You stated, deadpan. “No, no way.”
Steve grinned, leaning against your car like he hadn’t a care in the world and he tilted his head towards Robin and Eddie, rolling his eyes as he said, “see?”
It was unfair that he looked good, soft jeans that weren’t as tight as the ones he usually wore, the knees worn and ripped from time. But in the time that you spent observing him, eyes trailing up and down the tall length of him, you didn’t notice how Steve did the same to you.
Not that it mattered. ‘Cause you went back to glaring at Robin, palm thrown out to gesture at Steve and you didn’t really care that the back of your hand rapped against his chest.
“Ow,” he muttered.
You ignored him.
“Why is he here?“
You didn’t care that it sounded like you were whining, voice petulant if not a little panicked because the idea of spending an entire day at a lake with Steve Harrington filled you with a cacophony of emotions. Your stomach tumbled, twisted, dipped.
Instead of Robin answering, Eddie raised a hand like he was a kid in a classroom, smiled all soft and warm at you.
“‘Cause I am.“
You groaned. It was extremely difficult to be mad at Eddie Munson.
“I need out of this camp just as much as you do, princess,” Steve scoffed, “Henderson keeps going on about someone called Vecna and how he needs a bard.”
“Well, take your own car!” You grumbled, toeing at the backpack he’d dropped by your feet. It felt heavy, cold with the cans of beer that were shoved inside. “Find another lake, preferably far from ours and deep enough so that no one will be able to find your body.”
“Charming,” Steve snarked, but he was already peering into your car windows, a frown on his face. “Yeah, no, my car needs an oil change and the nearest mechanic doesn’t open ‘til Monday.”
He pulled at your back door, ignoring your squeak of protest and you burned when a cassette or two fell out, followed by one trainer and an empty Gatorade bottle.
“Jesus Christ, I’m not getting in this.”
You shoved at the boy, your shoulder nudging his until he relented and moved aside, letting you slam the door. You narrowed your eyes at him, annoyance already simmering in your chest, an all too familiar feeling.
“As if I’d let you,” you huffed, “besides, the seatbelts don’t work in the back.”
“Have I told you recently that your car is a piece of shit?”
You glared at Steve, overly aware that you were once again standing far too close to each other and that you most definitely had an audience. You didn’t really have an argument, you knew your old car was lacking in several areas. Speed, reliability, cleanliness, maybe.
“Not everyone’s daddy can buy them a shiny BMW, Harrington.”
“Don’t act cute,” Steve tutted, “I bought that car myself.”
You rolled your eyes before pushing away from him, shoulders nudging once more in a final act of defiance. The birds were singing, the morning was bright and you were already far too angry for what should have been considered healthy.
But then Eddie was clapping his hands together, still grinning wide beside Robin and he jabbed a thumb over his shoulder, gesturing towards the old van that was parked at a weird angle beside the trees.
“Guess I’m driving, huh?”
The minute the bags were loaded in the back of Eddie’s van, Robin rushed to the passengers door, hopping into the seat with a grunt and grinning as she hung out the open window.
“Sorry, lover boy,” she called to Steve, eyes innocent except for the wicked flash of a smirk across her lips. “I get travel sick.”
“That’s a damn lie,” you glared at her, wondering how this morning had gone to shit so quickly.
The temperature was climbing as the early hours slipped away, the sky turning from pink to lilac, blue around the edges and the sun coming through the canopy trees was brighter and stronger than before. You could hear the kids in the mess hall, the smell of breakfast and the buzz of conversation.
Eddie stood between you and Steve, far too amused as the back doors of the van sat open, the shag rug carpet and mismatched cushions waiting. Steve looked at you and back into the truck, eyes wary, like he was weighing up his options.
“I could drive, man,” Steve offered, hands shoved into his pockets and trying to avoid your gaze.
You scoffed, unsure if you were relieved or offended that he didn’t want to spend the hours drive with you, trapped in the back together.
Eddie tried to smother the smile he couldn’t help but give him, fist pressed to his mouth and he levelled the other boy with a mirthful stare.
“Really? I thought you hated driving my van?”
Steve didn’t know what to say.
“I mean, you can if you want,” Eddie told him, his voice all caramel soft, he sounded like he was goading Steve when he turned to you, all sticky sweet smiles, “I don’t mind riding with Hawkins here, I’ll keep you right when the road gets bumpy.” He winked and offered his keys to Steve, silver dangling from a ringed finger.
The only sounds came from the forest.
Then, a sigh, rough and low, before Steve pushed past Eddie and his outstretched hand, the keys jingling as they went ignored.
“Doesn’t matter, your clutch is fucked,” Steve clambered into the back of the van, gaze steady on the floor as he threw himself down onto a beanbag, ignoring Robin’s snickering. “It’s annoying as shit.”
Eddie grinned.
The drive was silent for the most part, at least for the first twenty twenty minutes. The road out of camp took you through the forest, past the river that led to the lake and when the cabins were too far away to see, you finally relaxed.
Until Robin made a fuss of finding some music that wasn’t Black Sabbath or any other band she’d declared migraine inducing, and finally she held up a cassette with a small noise of triumph.
“Prince, Eddie? Didn’t peg you as the type,” she told him coyly whilst Steve snorted from the back beside you.
“Hey now, Prince is perfectly acceptable,” Eddie argued, the tips of his ears turning red under his curls. “I am a man of mixed taste.”
“Sure you are,” Robin placated as she slid the tape into the player.
The roads were becoming less smooth as you neared your destination, favouring smaller, forgotten lanes as you passed the bigger lakes, flashes of blue and green flying past the small window in the back.
The journey became more bumpy as you all turned off into a track that took you through a part of a forest, the van manoeuvring itself over overgrown roots that interrupted the trail, a too big rock making the truck shake. And as the opening guitar riff of Prince’s ‘Kiss’, started to play, you were sent into Steve’s side, the van bouncing with Eddie’s efforts to get you all to the water's edge.
You scrambled to right yourself, moving away from the boy as if you’d been stung and the sudden proximity was jarring. You’d managed to spend the majority of the journey on either end of the van, backs pressed to the metal sides and you’d only just moved into the middle so you could lean over the front bench to take a handful of M&M’s from Robin.
But the jostle of the drive meant that you landed on Steve’s lap, clumsy and in no way meant, but your back was suddenly pressed to his chest and out of instinct, his hands caught your waist before your head could jerk back and slam into his nose.
‘I just need your body, baby, from dusk 'til dawn…’
“Fuck,” you whispered, desperate to not draw attention to the position the two of you were in, but Robin was snickering and Eddie caught sight of you in the rear view mirror and he let out a low whistle.
“Christ, kids, at least wait until Robin and I are out.”
“Fuck off,” you and Steve both snarled, voices mixing as you shoved away from each other.
The rest of the drive went like that, no matter how much you and Steve tried to cling to opposites of the van. The road got rougher as the lake came into view, blue green water meeting bluer skies, the beginnings of mountains and forests lining its edges.
Your shoulders brushed with Steve’s, hips bumping, hands falling onto tops of hands, pinky fingers grazing as you both tried to stay upright and by the time the van parked up beside a sandy dip in the grass, you were both burning with the exertion of the journey and all the casual touching.
Steve burst out of the van before anyone else, the engine not even switched off and the back doors brought in fresh air, bright sun and the smell of pine.
The lake was on the smaller side, no jetty’s to tie a boat to, no long stretches of beach that became home to little kids and their buckets and spades. In fact, the four of you were the only ones there. The silence was dizzying, the views almost too pretty, and it was complete bliss before Eddie jumped out of the driver’s seat and grinned.
He threw his hands up, his head back, messy curls tumbling as he let out a loud whoop, a noise that bounced off of the cliffs before the forest on the other side of the water swallowed it whole.
You smiled properly for the first time that morning, Robin on your left, Steve on your right, as you all watched the city boy tear off his shirt, jeans abandoned on the way before leaping into the shallow water.
The day went like that.
Genuine happiness from four twenty somethings that were just trying to do enough to get by. You knew your co-workers loved Camp Upside Down as much as you did, it’s why you all returned summer after summer. But there was something different about being able to stretch out along sand, Robin’s head resting on your bare stomach ‘cause you’d pulled your shirt over your head the minute you’d lay down.
Your unbuttoned shorts showed off the edges of a cherry red bikini, something you weren’t allowed to wear during work. The boys splashed in the lake, the campfire burned and you’d even reluctantly shared your lunch with Steve - half of your sandwich for some of the potato salad he’d managed to scrounge from that day's lunch prep.
It was the burn of the sun and cool lake water, sand between your toes, stolen towels from camp, the smell of smoke and the taste of lukewarm beer. It was quiet, it was loud, it was the crackle of Eddie’s van stereo flooding out from its open doors, it was power naps with your cheek pressed to your bundled up shirt, watching Eddie throw himself from tree branches, laughing until your stomach hurt and it was not arguing with Steve Harrington.
Not really.
Not like before.
And when Eddie retired to the back of the van to close his eyes and get out of the sun for a bit, Robin swam back to shore and got herself comfortable in the sand, a sketch pad in one hand and a case of pencils at her still wet feet.
It left you and Steve together in the lake, deep enough that your feet couldn’t touch the bottom and you swam lazy circles around each other, floating on your backs, water lapping at your ears and your chin tilted up to the sun.
It was nice. It was easy.
Every now and then, the lake pulled you both closer, bobbing on what little current there was until your outstretched fingertips brushed the boys and you were both startled from whatever daze you’d fallen into.
Eventually, you couldn’t find it in you to care too much, not when it happened again and again and again. Maybe it was the weed, maybe it was the heat, maybe you were just too lazy. But it’s how you found yourself shoulder to shoulder with Steve, bare legs brushing, skin slick with lake water and leftover sunscreen.
You kept your eyes closed when you finally spoke, like it would make you braver, like you could keep your words a secret.
“Why do you hate me?”
There was a pause after you spoke, a dead space in the water between you both and you could feel that Steve had opened his eyes. The water moved, splashed at your cheek and you felt his head turn, his gaze on you.
“Who said I hate you?”
The tips of his fingers were still brushing yours.
You laughed and it sounded nervous, a soft noise of embarrassment, like a girl with a crush. You didn’t know how to feel about it.
“You argue with me about everything, you look like you wanna kill me every time I open my mouth near you and you’re constantly finding new ways to wind me up.” You told him casually, like it was nothing new, like it was normal. And it had been, for as long as you could remember. “I’d say that insinuates an annoyance, at least.”
“That’s awfully presumptuous of you, princess.” Steve smirked, “what if arguing with you was the best part of my day, huh?”
His reply made your eyes flutter open, heavy as if you’d been pulled from sleep, from a dream and the sudden reality of your situation made you dip further into the lake, your legs pulling you down and your feet kicked to keep you afloat.
Steve mirrored you, easily treading water as the surface swallowed half his face, his eyes impossibly golden as they stared back at you. You were a foot apart, maybe two, and you realised rather quickly that you missed the closeness of him.
“Don’t lie,” you scoffed but there was something about the way Steve was looking at you that made you feel doubtful. “What’s next, pulling my hair at recess?”
Steve laughed, a genuine burst of amusement from his lips that didn’t sound sarcastic for once. He let himself fall back, the water lapping at his shoulders and he grinned at you, the soles of his feet brushing up against your thighs, just for a second.
“I dunno,” he looked a little pink around the cheeks, his smile nothing short of scandalous. “Would that do it for you?”
Your mouth fell open.
This was a fight that you weren’t sure you could win, his teasing words no longer a taunt, the conversation no longer an argument. Steve looked at you with the same fire he always had though, a challenge in his eyes that you desperately wanted to rise to. It wasn’t really a fight, no, not anymore.
But you still wanted to win.
“Guess you’ll never know,” you shrugged, smug when Steve grinned wider.
—————
The drive back to camp was a world away from the journey in the morning. You climbed into the back of the van with Steve without argument, all four of you soft and lazy from a day under the sun, hours treading water, throwing your tired bodies from small rocks and cliffs.
The sun had warmed the truck, the air smelling like boy and coffee and a little weed, and you were slack as you fell into the cushions, not really caring that your foot was pressed against Steve’s thigh.
Robin turned the radio on, the tinny crackle of static making the music seem softer and Eddie hummed along as he drove, the trees outside creating dappled shadows across everyone’s sunburnt skin.
It was nice, it was peaceful.
Your hair was still damp, your skin smelling like sunscreen and the lake, lemonade and cheap beer on your tongue and you didn’t really care when the rough road out of the forest sent you bumping into Steve’s side again.
His hand caught your waist to steady you, a wide, warm palm on bare skin because you hadn’t bothered to button your shirt back up, the sides hanging open on your shoulders, the bright red of your bikini a reminder of the day spent in the water.
Your shared conversation in the lake hung in the air as Eddie drove you all home, the long haired boy and Robin oblivious to it. But it fizzed in the back of the van like a firework waiting to pop, the anticipation of wondering what colours would fill the air when it did. It felt like the slow climb to the top of a rollercoaster, it felt like the night before a storm, it felt like what if?
When you arrived back at camp, dinner was over and the kids were lingering, heads tilted to the sky that was uncharacteristically dark, navy clouds looming overheard with the threat of rain. You’d left the sun behind, hanging over a different lake, along with a different side of yours and Steve’s relationship.
You didn’t know what to say when the four of you clambered out of Eddie’s van, Robin and the other boy talking happily about music and Robin’s sketches, rucksacks over their shoulders as Steve awkwardly handed you the empty cooler.
You mumbled a thanks, suddenly shy and you stood at the back of the van, waiting to see if Steve would say something, if you would be brave enough to say anything.
But then the sky split, the clouds crashed and rain tore down on the camp.
You all scrambled under the canopy of the trees, yelling swears between laughter and the sound of the kids screeching was drowned out by the rumble of thunder, the on-shift counsellors telling everyone to return to their cabins.
No one really said goodbye, the rain making you all run to your bunks, the day ending without so much as another shared glance. So you tripped through the trees with your hair plastered to your forehead, laughing when Robin stumbled in mud and shrieked. By the time you both made it home, you were giggling on the porch, skin soaked, shirt and shorts sticking to you and Robin was wide eyed.
“Wait! I’m going to Vickie’s!” She almost shouted, barely heard over the roar of the rain, the rumble above.
You laughed, incredulous as you watched her run back out into the downpour.
“You’re what?!”
“Vickie’s cabin!” She called back, “no one’s gonna care where everyone is when we’re all stuck inside!”
And then she was gone, probably for the night, you assumed.
That’s why you were surprised when there was a knock on the door fifteen minutes later, the rain still falling, the day turning to night quicker than normal as the clouds stayed heavy, the forest dark.
Everywhere smelled like damp moss and pine, wet bark and the lingering smoke from the campfire that had long been ruined. You’d only managed to drag a brush through your hair, the strands tangled and partly dry, your shorts uncomfortable on your skin and your shirt hanging off one shoulder.
You answered the door, not sure who to expect, not sure why Robin would be knocking, why anyone would be out in this weather.
When you saw Steve standing there, you realised that the boy hadn’t even been an option. Surprise coloured you, mouth falling open at the sight of him on the porch, drenched, shirt sticking to him, almost translucent and his hair a wet riot.
He was holding a blanket, the soft knitted one you’d taken from your bed to use on the beach that day. It was half soaked from where he’d hidden in under his arm, running through the rain from his cabin to yours.
You stared, shocked.
“I think, uh, I think I shoved this in my bag by accident.”
He was yelling over the dim of rain, the world noisy around you both, the forest creating chaos, a whole other kind of fight. It was waiting, it was wondering if you were going to join in.
“It couldn’t wait?” You cried back, completely bemused by Steve’s decision to come over for nothing more than a stupid blanket.
But the boy was struggling to respond, shoulders shrugging, cheeks pink and looking a little wild. Thunder grumbled above, the trees swayed and a drop of rain slid down Steve’s cheek, rolling over the curve of his lip.
“Yeah,” Steve replied, voice too honest, “it probably could’ve, yeah.”
It happened like the storm, the slow roll of electricity over your skin, a building in the atmosphere, something in the air that told you that something big was coming.
And Steve was still standing there, chest heaving like he couldn’t catch his breath, and neither could you when he was looking at you like that.
Rain soaked shirt, brown hair sticking to his forehead and falling into his eyes, all flushed cheeks and parted lips.
“Was that everything?” You asked, voice almost too quiet to be heard over the sound of thunder above, the sky goading you, telling you to say something else.
“Uh, yeah, yeah,” Steve said and it sounded like a lie, it sounded too sweet. “Maybe? I- I don’t know.”
You swallowed, chest bursting, heart pounding, ‘cause it felt like you were supposed to be waiting for something more, something spectacular, something that you were supposed to give into a long time ago. And then:
“Christ, fuck it-”
He was crashing into you, arms tugging you into him rather than wrapping around you and you let him, Jesus fucking Christ, you let him, a gasp that sounded like a moan falling from your lips as he kissed you.
Your hand was fisted in the front of his shirt, the other tugging into his damp hair and the sounds he made against your mouth were obscene. Nothing about this was gentle, nothing about Steve was soft. He was pushing you both backwards, into the cabin and out of the storm with his hands gripping hard on your waist, crescent moon marks left on your skin and it was sinful, it was too good, it wasn’t enough.
You pulled where he pushed, tugging him into you, the door slamming shut and the rain pounding in the wooden roof. The kiss was messy, heated, another fight you both wanted to win.
It tasted like the storm, like mint and the woods and Steve, and it said: fuck you, fuck me, I don’t hate you at all.
It was a kiss that was wildly different to the one you shared at the gym, the one with an audience, a kiss that was supposed to be nothing more than a dare. This kiss was all teeth and tongue, wandering hands that grabbed at exposed skin, pulled and shoved shirts out of the way so you could touch and touch and touch.
The lack of sun outside made the cabin a little darker, the small light by your bed casting nothing but a weak glow and moody shadows, perfect for hiding feelings in. You pulled Steve into the room, clumsy feet tripping over a shoe or two, the strap of a bag, the blanket that he dropped to the floor in favour of holding you.
No one spoke, not apart from letting out hushed curses, swears that sounded like prayers, unholy noises that came from the back of your throats, whines and begs that came from years of tension.
Robin's notebook hit the floor, pencils and pens rolling with it when you stumbled into the desk and Steve grabbed the backs of your thighs, hauling you onto it. He was licking into your mouth with a greed you’d never experienced before, a hand on your cheek, telling you to tilt your head this way and that so he could kiss you deeper, kiss you filthier.
It was fun to fight back a little, grabbing at the hair at the nape of his neck in return, fisting it in your hand and pulling until he groaned for you, lips faltering against your own and attacking your neck instead.
Your legs were around his waist and you weren’t sure how it happened. You knew you didn’t mind, you didn’t care, not anymore. Because Steve’s hand was curled around your knee, hiking your leg further up his hip so he could move into the space between your thighs.
The sounds you were letting out were a little pathetic, small sighs and whines, asking for more without saying the words and all you could do was pull the boy into you and open your mouth for him when he used his thumb to tug at your bottom lip.
He kissed you like he wanted to argue about it afterwards.
“Shit,” you gasped, eyes rolling back when he rocked into you, body pressed against yours, all wet clothes and rain damp skin. “Steve.”
The groan that ripped from his chest was absolute sin, lips leaving yours to press his face into your neck, his hands flexing on your hips.
“Say that again.”
You were confused until you realised that you weren’t sure of the last time you called the boy by his actual name. No Harrington, no wonder boy, no asshole, no douchebag.
At least, not right now.
It made your head swim, the hold he had on you, literal and figurative, because for the first time in your life, you did as the boy asked.
It was a whimper against his ear, mouth moving deliberately against the shell of it, all dirty and coy. Your lips brushed his earlobe, your hand cupped his jaw and you canted your hips into his, just the once.
“Steve.”
A dam burst and you couldn’t help but appreciate how gorgeous Steve Harrington looked when he lost all the composure he liked to pretend he had.
“Oh god, holy shit,” he was back on you, all lips and tongue and teeth and hands, “you sound so fuckin’ pretty, so good, fuck.”
You whined in response, a high, keening noise that you didn’t even recognise but you were on fire, burning in all the places that his lips touched. You weren’t gentle with each other, hands grabbing, tugging, getting as close as you possibly could and you needed more, now.
“Steve…”
He moaned again, whispered your name back to you like a prayer and god, he was right, it sounded so good coming from his lips like that.
“What d’you want?” Steve asked, low and rough, his lips on your neck, skating across your pulse. “What d’you need, huh? Tell me.”
You wanted everything, all of it at once. You wanted his lips, his tongue, his mouth, you wanted his hands, you wanted him naked, you wanted him under you, above you, against you. You wanted his noises, you wanted to make him moan, to make him swear, to make him throw his head back and call out your name.
You wanted him.
You wanted Steve fucking Harrington.
Instead you said, “-want more, need more.”
Another groan, a disbelieving sound, one that you shared with him, because Steve was running the flat of his palm across your throat, fingers curling briefly before they splayed out and ran the length of your body.
They trailed down your chest, down between the thin, red straps of your bikini, between the open sides of your shirt and they landed on the still wet band of your shorts, a finger tapping across the button.
“D’you want me to touch you?”
Jesus Christ, you couldn’t stand it. You squirmed on the desktop, legs tightening around the boy’s waist to gain some much needed friction but Steve moved his other hand to your thigh, holding you still.
“C’mon baby, use your words,” Steve murmured. “You’re usually so good at that.”
Baby.
It shouldn’t have made your heart stutter, it shouldn’t have made you wetter than you already were. But it did, fuck, it did.
You leaned back, hands on the table and chest heaving, your shirt sliding from your shoulders and your head hitting the wall. You stared at the boy through your lashes, lips parted and glossy from his kisses.
You looked wrecked and Steve fucking adored it.
“Touch me,” you wriggled again, hissed when he tightened his hand around the curve of your thigh, a delightful sting on your skin. “Steve.”
He huffed out a laugh then, mixed with a moan, and he smiled at you, sticky sweet. “Say please, princess.”
Absolutely not.
“In your dreams, Harrington,” you gasped out, a laugh lacing your breath.
‘Make me,’ is what you meant.
Steve tsked, grinning. “So stubborn,” he said.
‘Challenge accepted,’ is what he wanted to say.
And then you were kissing again, deep, slow passes over each other’s lips, teeth catching, tongues soothing and the boy swallowed every moan and gasp you gave him. His hand found your neck, cupping it to move you the way he wanted, head tilted so he could kiss you even harder.
Steve kissed like he argued, like it was his favourite hobby, like he wanted to have the last word, steal the breath from your lungs and leave you shaking.
His fingers tangled in your hair, tugged a little mean when you nipped his lip almost too hard and you surprised even yourself with the sound that left your mouth.
Steve pulled back from you, just a little, just so his nose brushed against yours and you could see the dark glitter of his eyes.
“Well, would y’look at that,” he murmured and his voice was tougher than you’d ever heard, sticky honey and a storm, “I guess you do like that.”
You were reminded of your conversation in the lake and you flushed, hating the smug expression on the boy’s face, hating that you liked it even more.
Steve was real fucking pretty when he was proving you wrong.
But you didn’t say anything, didn’t give him the satisfaction of an argument, you just just shoved him backwards, following the way he stumbled until you were pulling him back into you, pushed onto your toes so you could catch his jaw with your hands and press your lips back to his.
“You’re insufferable,” you told him between kisses, voice too breathy to carry any real heat.
“Yeah?” Steve shot back, grunting a little when you pulled at his shirt, his arms flying up so you could pull it off of him. He stood, shirtless, chest heaving and gazing at you like you were something to eat. “I could say the same about you, sweetheart.”
And then he was turning you, walking you backwards with his mouth on your neck until your body hit the wall and his fingers were back on the button of your shorts.
He sucked a bruise on your throat, all pretty and sharp, lilac on your skin and he nosed at it, humming thoughtfully.
“Say please,” he told you again, a finger dipping into the denim, scratching soft against the red edge of your bikini. “Be nice for me, princess, huh?”
It was dizzying, his words. His touch. His breath on the column of your throat, his hair brushing your jaw.
Another kiss, sweet and soft, jarring in the way he held you to the cabin wall, body hard and solid against your own. His thumbs pressed circles into your hips, soothing and a silent reminder that you could stop this whenever you wanted.
“If you’re nice to me, I’ll be nice to you.”
It was too sweet a deal to say no to. Especially when Steve was looking at you like that, like he wanted to give you the world, like he’d been waiting an age just to touch you like this.
So you let out a huff, more whimper than protest and your hands fell to his jeans, damp with rain and tight for other reasons. You cupped a palm over him, hard and thick inside the denim and you were close enough that your lips brushed over Steve’s when you spoke.
“Please,” you whispered.
He was popping the button on your shorts before the words left your mouth, groaning and canting his hips into your hand as if he couldn’t help himself, as if this was all suddenly too much.
You slipped your shirt from your shoulders, the wet smack of it hitting the floor as you both toed off your shoes, a different trainer hitting a different corner of the cabin, patience gone as Steve slid the flat of his palm down the curve of your tummy, fingers reaching into your bikini bottoms to find you slick and ready for him.
“Oh shit,” you both gasped out together, your hands flying to grip Steve’s shoulders, nails digging into the muscles there as his fingers dragged through your folds, thumb finding your clit, his middle digit easily sliding inside of you.
“Jesus christ, sweetheart,” Steve groaned, eyes falling shut as he leaned into you, forehead to yours and his free hand pulling at your knee, hitching your leg back to his hip so he could push his finger into you a little easier.
It was a slow drag, a white hot burn that had you clawing at him, already teetering. It was almost embarrassing, almost. It would have been if Steve wasn’t rutting against your hip, desperate as you were, looking so, so pretty and wrecked.
“D’you always get this worked up when we argue?”
You thought he was joking, and you were about to tell him off, the bite of your response on the tip of your tongue, but your body had other ideas. You clenched down on him, involuntarily, hips stuttering at his question and he swore into your mouth, delighted.
“Fucking hell,” he moaned, another kiss, quick and dirty, “you fuckin’ do, don’t you?”
“Of course you’d run your mouth,” you snarked, but still, you tilted your head back for the boy, just so he could suck another kiss onto your throat. “Why am I not surprised?”
He grinned against you, all teeth and curled his finger into you, hitting a whole other spot. Another hot drag, slipping out of you before he pushed back in again, two fingers moving a little faster, his thumb running circles.
“Somethin’ tells me you like it,” Steve told you, smug.
And god you did, you really fucking did.
You didn’t satisfy the boy with an answer, you just whined, pressing your lips back to his as you chased the high you were desperate for. Steve seemed to catch on pretty quick, surprisingly in tune with the way your body was reacting to him and he curled his fingers in and out of you a little quicker, mouth hovering over yours, noses bumping, panting softly.
“I’m gonna come,” you told him, your hands buried in his hair. “Steve, fuck!”
His hand that was still gripping your thigh was the only thing holding you up, Steve’s body pinning you to the wall and was smiling, victorious as you tightened around him, your face pressed into the crook of his neck as you came, soft sounds falling from your lips.
“Aw fuck,” he hissed, “that’s it, there you go princess.”
The boy coaxed you through it, murmuring soft, sweet praises, telling you how pretty you sounded when you came, how good you felt around his fingers. It was too much and it wasn’t enough. And when you shrugged off the hazy warmth of your orgasm, you were quick to move into Steve, lips back on his as he slipped his hand from your shorts and grabbed at your waist.
You walked him backwards, in charge now, smiling against his mouth when he groaned into you.
The backs of Steve’s thighs hit your bed and you pressed one more kiss into him, a little mean when you nipped at his bottom lip and then shoved him. There was a satisfaction in watching him fall into your mattress, eyes shocked, lips parted and before he could say anything, you hooked your thumbs into your shorts, pushing the denim down your legs.
The cherry red bikini was the only thing you had left on, the straps of it slipping down your shoulders, the bottoms cut high on your hips. You waited to feel the rush of insecurity, the self conscious need to shy away and cover up.
But Steve was staring at you with a slack jaw and flushed cheeks, eyes roaming greedy over bare skin and all the places he could get his mouth on, and that nervous feeling? It never came.
“Pants off, Harrington,” you told him, voice a little too breathy to sound demanding.
He smirked, pushed onto his elbows so he could tilt his head up to meet your gaze. “Always knew you’d be bossy,” Steve murmured and you warmed at the notion of him thinking about this, about you, like that.
“I’m not bossy,” you argued, but then you were on him, straddling his lap in a way that made Steve lose his rebuttal, his argument slipping from his lips as his hands found your waist again.
You pushed him back into your pillows, hands flat on his chest and overwhelming need to make him fall apart like he’d done for you taking over.
“I didn’t say it was a bad thing, princess,” Steve grinned, tongue caught between his teeth as he gazed up at you through messy hair.
But his smirk slipped from his hips when you settled over him properly, nails pressed into his bare chest as you rocked your hips a little. Steve groaned, loud and unabashed and you think you kinda adored how loud he was about it.
His palms kneaded at your hips, a push and pull that told you ‘holy shit, stop’ and ‘fucking hell, do that again.’
Your fingers shook as you popped open the button of his jeans, hands tugging at the waistband, sneaking under his boxers to find him hot and hard for you. Steve sucked a breath through his teeth, looking a little wild underneath you and his hand shook like yours did when he grabbed at your wrist.
“This is gonna be over way too quick if you keep doin’ that.”
His voice was all rough honey, sweet to your ears, low enough to make your thighs clench around him.
“D’you have a condom?” you rushed out in a sigh, ‘cause you were desperate now, brows knitted together with impatience and Steve tapped at your hip, silently asking you to shift back.
You moved, bottom lip tucked between your teeth as he fished his wallet out of his pocket, hands fumbling with the leather until he pulled a silver foil square out of the back.
“Is that-?”
Steve grinned, all teeth and cheekiness, eyes sparkling. “The one Murray threw at us? Yeah.”
You didn’t know whether to laugh or shove at the boy for his smugness, so you did both. A huff of breath falling from your lips, a hand pushed to Steve’s chests in a poor attempt at a scolding and then he was pulling you down with a hand around the back of your neck.
“Were you hoping to get to use it?” You asked, eyes fluttering closed when Steve hooked his fingers under the straps of your bikini. “That’s awfully presumptuous of you, Harrington.”
But Steve just hummed, unphased by your teasing when he had his lips on your collarbone, pressing a line of kiss to your breast.
“Seemed symbolic, no?”
And then you were on your back, tucked under the boy with his elbow pressed to the pillow, his other hand trailing up and down your waist, taking in soft skin and new freckles and scars, mapping out the scar on your knee, the bruise you got from helping El do a cartwheel on your hip.
You looked up at him then, time slowing with his movements, all soft hands and softer eyes and oh my god, this was Steve fucking Harrington. You weren't ready to admit what this meant, not yet, you weren’t ready to realise what this was.
So you reached up between your bodies to tug at his jaw, fingers spread out to tap at his chin, thumb on the plush curve of his bottom lip.
“You gonna kiss me or what?”
“Don’t tell me what to do,” he huffed and he tried to look annoyed, he really did but Steve kissed you anyway, heat flooding you both, the rain battering louder on the roof as you pulled at his jeans, pushing them down his hips.
“I- god, shit,” Steve was mumbling, voice cracking at the feel of you under him, against him, body squirming for friction, for him.
You pushed at him, lips still moving against his, giving him all your soft noises, rolling you both until you were on top again, precariously close to the edge of the bunk, sheets rumpled.
“Of course you wanna be on top,” Steve snarked, but he couldn’t hide how his eyes were glassy, how needy his hands were as they tugged at your bikini and you laughed as you raised your arms for him, letting him pull the swimsuit off.
You’d never felt more powerful when you smiled down at him, saccharine sweet. “Don’t you like it?”
Steve was speechless. Just for a second or two, at least.
“Yeah, I really fuckin’ do,” and oh, his voice sounded too sweet, a little broken and wild, all husky just for you.
Everything snapped, the tension, the waiting, the storm outside. The foil packet crinkled as Steve ripped it open and the air fizzed when he rolled it onto himself, tip already leaking at the sight of you waiting for him.
Neither of you had the patience to allow you to move off of him in order to take your bikini bottoms off, neither of you wanted to stop touching for that long. There was a new found desperation when Steve sat up, back against the headboard as you crowded over him, gasping and sighing into the mess of his hair when he pulled your bikini to the side, swiping his fingers through you.
“So wet,” he whispered, lips pressed to your chest, teeth grazing skin, kisses pushed to every part of you he could reach. “You hear that, babe? How wet y’are for me?”
You were on fire and yes, yes you could. It was obscene in the best way, intense and a little dirty, and you watched in awe when the boy pulled his fingers away from you, sucked them into his mouth instead and soothed your responding whine with a pet to your hip.
“Shit, shit, shit- Steve.”
“I know, I know,” he cooed, voice far too soft and gentle, and Jesus, he was still trying to tease you. “Tell me what you want, yeah?”
But then the charade fell when you sat up and slipped over him, hard tip nudging against you before you blew out a breath, groaning as you took him all.
“Oh fuck, oh fuck,” he was clawing at you, hands pushing at your hips to make sure you didn’t move just yet, eyes clenched shut as his forehead fell against yours. “Oh good girl, good fucking girl, princess.”
That did it for you, that little gush of praise and it had you clenching around him, making you both moan. You rocked your hips, once, twice, against Steve’s tight hold until eventually he helped you. Strong hands lifted you up and down over him, the slick, hot slide of the boy making you dizzy.
He whispered your name, moaned it, gasped it out on a hot breath that fell across your cheek and you pushed a palm to his jaw, held his chin in your hands to make him look at you and you felt the boy throb as you did it.
“My name sounds so pretty when you say it,” you murmured, repeating his previous words back to him and he groaned and laughed, hips canting up into yours with a snap.
The bed was moving against the wall, a dull thud, thud, thud that was hidden by rain and thunder, but Steve still grinned when you moaned louder than ever, his hand pushed to your mouth to muffle your sounds.
“So noisy, huh?” That taunting tone was back, the one that made you press yourself down onto him a little harder, deep enough to make him gasp and grab at your waist. “Oh, you’re too sweet, you know that? So pretty - you know just how to get me all wound up, don’t you?”
You moaned, soft and sweet, to pent up to argue back but you moved a little quicker, made Steve’s head fall back, neck taught and fingertips bruising on your thighs as he kept you spread open for him.
You pulled away from his hand, breath hitching as he twitched inside of you and you mouthed at his throat, lips pressing a scattering of messy kisses there and you trailed them to his ear.
You hummed, a happy noise that came from the back of your throat and you wound your arms around his neck, fingers threading through his hair.
“You close, hmm?” You gasped, chest pressed flush to the boy’s and you both rocked your hips, a dizzy mess of desperate movements. “Huh, Steve? Are you goin’ to come for me?”
The boy realised your game and he huffed out a laugh, groaning as he tucked his face into your neck, smelling rain and leftover sunscreen, letting you take your hands through his hair, tugging a little when you wanted him to slam his hips up into you.
His hand found its way between your bodies, slick with sweat and rain, thumb running perfect, little circles over your clit as he forced you into the same breathless high that you were pinning on him.
“Christ, yeah,” he grunted, voice shot, every word tumbling into the next, “come w’me? Not gonna last much longer, y’feel too good.”
His voice was a shot of whisky, caramel and sticky sweet when he spoke into your skin, a hand roaming up and down the expanse of your bare back, tongue laving over a nipple, sucking bruises into the dip between your breasts.
You can’t remember a time you had ever felt so needy, it was startling, it was electrifying.
“Steve, Steve, Steve,” you sounded wrecked, and Steve adored it. “Harder, fuck, harder, I’m close-”
Amazingly, Steve was so much more agreeable when he was buried to the hilt inside of you, hands pressing bruises to your hips as he slammed up into you, meeting your thrust for thrust as everything came to a high and you crashed into it together.
“Awh shit, that’s it, there you go sweetheart.”
The boy whispered your name when he came, hips stuttering, mouth pressed to yours as he held you still, your limbs twitching from the aftershocks of it all. Steve petted at your thighs, hands all soft and shaky, forehead pressed to yours as you both panted, trying to catch the breath the other had stolen.
The rain had stopped when you clambered off of his lap, Steve helping you move on your shaky legs as he tied off the condom and tossed it into the bin near your bed. The birds were chirping again when he lay down beside you, both of you half naked, clothes rumpled, hair misbehaving, shoulder to shoulder, hip to hip.
The clouds were lifting, the room not as dark, a stripe of sunlight filtering through the gap in the curtains, gold cutting through the shadows. There was a drip, drip, drip of leftover rain on the porch, the soft gasps from both of you, sheets tangled at your feet.
Quiet passed over you both, skin still tingling, lips feeling bruised from each other's mouths, the taste of Steve Harrington and rain still on your tongue.
I can’t get any rest, people say I’m obsessed.
The last week of summer camp went by in a slow roll. Like the way a camcorder stuttered over its film, lazy and with a soft crackle, memories trapped between sunspots and dust.
Days passed without you being able to see much of Steve, Hopper finally making good on his promise as he kept you both apart, Steve sharing lifeguard duties with Billy and you co-ordinating crafts with Nancy.
The kids kept you all busy, the last few days bringing a new buzz of excitement as the thought of returning back home, to school, to reality, set in. You helped Will finish his painting, watched with pride when he presented it to Will, the other boy awed. Nancy settled arguments between Max and Lucas, raising her brows at you in amusement when you told her that they were fine, they were both just too stubborn. Steve finally taught El how to swim and when Robin caught Dustin and Suzie sharing a shy first kiss behind the old bike shed, she didn’t have it in her to tell them off.
In fact, you didn’t see Steve until three days after the storm, trailing out of Hop’s office after a surly looking Billy, both of them sporting bruised faces and cut lips, Steve’s hair messier than usual and Billy’s red lifeguard shirt was ripped at the collar.
He glared at you as he passed, blonde hair mussed and blue eyes cold, as if somehow, his black eye was your fault. But you didn’t worry yourself over Billy Hargrove’s sour mood, your feet quickly carrying you over to where Steve was.
Catching Steve’s elbow in your hand didn’t feel anywhere as near as unnatural as it did a week ago, your touch almost too casual on him. It shouldn’t have been a big deal, your hand on his bare arm, not really, not after that night.
But you hadn’t spoken about it since, you hadn’t touched, hadn’t pressed your lips back to his. So now, the feel of your palm curled around his elbow had you both burning. Steve stared at you, eyes flickering to where you held him and you swallowed hard, told yourself to be brave and you didn’t let go. He didn’t pull away either.
“Hey,” your voice was a soft murmur, the low buzz of the kids in the mess hall almost drowning you out. “Are you okay? What happened?”
You were frowning as you took in the bruise at his temple, shades of lavender and navy creeping towards his eyebrow, a cut on his lip that was red with dried blood, his hair falling over his eyes like he’d been thrown around.
Steve shrugged, eyes glancing back towards the door of Hopper’s cabin, scowling when he saw that Murray was at the window, watching you both with a mug of coffee to his lips, hiding his grin. Steve took your hand in his, gesturing to the old gym and you would’ve followed him even if his hand wasn’t pulling you along behind him.
Once you were both hidden from the rest of the camp, bodies pressed into the cool shadows that the side of the old building brought, Steve turned to you, a hand still tangled in yours, the other finding the dip in your waist, just because he could. His touch brought shivers to your skin, a feeling you still weren’t used to and you found that you didn’t hate, not at all.
If anything, it made you braver, urging you to take a step closer, your hand taking his chin in your grip as you tilted his head up to the sun, the bruise catching the light and you made a soft noise, a quiet hum. Steve let you push and pull at him, the start of a smile on his lips that you were sure he’d normally try and hide from you, but his fingertips were curling into your staff shirt, pushing it out of the way until his skin found yours and your breath hitched.
 “Billy?” You asked, careful.
“No, I’m Steve,” he joked but it was weak, his smile too tired and you huffed, catching his gaze with a stare he knew too well.
It was no secret that Steve and Billy had never seen eye to eye, Steve took genuine offence to the way that Billy treated the kids, too harshly and with rough words, rolling his eyes if they ever got upset, laughing when he managed to scare them.
But it had never come to a head, fist staying clenched by sides and jaws clenched, but Steve tended to try and stay out of fights - for the kids sake if anything.
And you knew that, knew the boy better than you thought, years of living in the same small town, summers spent in the same warm forest making you pick up more than you realised about Steve Harrington.
“What happened?” You asked again, still quiet.
Your thumb ran over the cut on his lip, gentle and if Steve wasn’t in pain, you probably would’ve smirked when he shivered at your touch.
“Jus’ Hargrove talkin’ shit,” Steve grunted, voice rough as if he’d been yelling. Knowing Hopper and Murray, he probably had been. “It’s fine, m’fine, princess.”
The pet name carried so much more affection than it had before, warming you to the bone, skin tingling, cheeks flushed.
You frowned, lips pouted, unperturbed when you dropped your hand from Steve’s jaw and it landed on his shoulder instead, the two of you swaying slightly together, not all that used to touching just yet, but enjoying the closeness nonetheless.
“You don’t usually let him get to you,” you huffed, brows still knitted together and you were somewhat annoyed at yourself for not being there to break the boys apart. Steve had proved himself capable of listening to you now, and you were not above using it to your advantage, especially if it kept him out of the way of Billy’s fists.
Steve just looked at you, eyes all soft, brown sugar and honey, shrugging with a small smile, like he was keeping a secret.
“Stranger things have happened, haven’t they, sweetheart?”
You stared at him, lips parted, wondering if this was another taunt, a tease, the start of an argument, because neither of you had had a chance to talk about what had happened in your cabin that night. You’d both woken up tangled together, bodies lazy and tired, the moon in the sky outside and Robin thankfully still gone. You had wrapped yourself in the sheet that smelled like Steve as you watched him get dressed, cheeks warm and nerves fluttering at your chest.
Neither of you had spoken, but he smiled all soft and bent down to kiss you before he left, his lips yielding on yours, a small noise of something huffing from him as he let you cup his jaw, holding him to you a little longer. The fight seemed to have left both of you, too slow and sleepy to pretend anymore. Steve had traced the bruise he’d left on your neck, pushed your still messy hair from your forehead and kissed there too before he left, the cabin door closing softly behind him.
So you were waiting for a snarky comment, a dismissal, an argument, maybe. But Steve grinned and squeezed at your waist, fingers still brushing warm underneath your shirt and then the bell rang, signalling the end of dinner and you both startled, jumping apart, despite being hidden.
“Steve-” you stopped, laughing embarrassed when Steve said your name at the same time. “Uh, you first,” you told him, achingly shy all of a sudden.
“Do you- uh, you think you could meet me later? By the lake?” Steve asked, squinting at you like he too was suddenly feeling awkward.
You felt like a teenager standing at her locker between classes, the school hall empty and your heart in your throat. You grinned, tried to hide it by ducking your chin to your chest, an already scuffed trainer kicking at the twigs by your feet.
“Are you asking me on a date, Harrington?” Your voice was all soft teasing, warm like the summer and it made the boy smile, cheeks pink, eyes rolling with affection, not annoyance.
“No,” he scoffed and you heard the lie there, heard the warmth. “Shut up.”
You laughed, snorting softly in a way that made Steve grin even harder, both of you feeling uncharacteristically giddy in the presence of the other, and god, you couldn't help but think about how the boy had dragged you into his lap, half naked and desperate.
“I hate you, remember?” Steve whispered it, moving a little closer, a hand playing with a stray lock of hair, knuckles brushing against your cheek.
You hummed and nodded, brows furrowed and lips pursed as if you were indeed, remembering. You remembered how the boy tasted, how he felt, how wild he got for you when you tugged his hair and bit down on his pretty bottom lip.
So you pushed softly at his chest, all strong muscle and warm skin underneath his faded staff shirt and you looked up at Steve through your lashes.
“Yeah, I remember,” you murmured back.
And then the sounds of the kids spilling out of the mess hall finally got too loud, the evening hardly over and there were jobs still to do. You both heard Eddie announce that week's dungeons and dragon’s meeting, a crowd of the kids cheering, Nancy corralling others to the campfire, s’mores and storybook in hand. You had promised Max that you’d swap some mixtapes with her, the redhead and El both at your side during lunch, brandishing old Madonna and a double cassette of Kate Bush that Max said she was sick of listening to.
“Eleven o’clock?” Steve asked, hand brushing down your arm, any excuse to touch you before his palm curled warm around your elbow. “Where the old boathouse used to be?”
You nodded, relishing the last touch before he left, hand in his hair as he walked back out to the chaos of the camp, meeting Dustin on one of the walkways and ruffling the young boy’s curls. You waited until Steve had disappeared into the woods, following the trail that led to where Eddie was setting up his wizard game.
It didn’t take long for you to settle yourself onto a fallen log beside Robin, cheek leaning on her shoulder as Suzie settled herself by your feet, leaning on your legs as El tucked herself into the other side of you. The kids were all enraptured by Nancy, the small crowd lit by the glow of the fire as the girl told stories of three headed dragons and kids with superpowers, little girls and boys who were all strong enough to defeat monsters and nightmares.
And then when the fire was starting to burn out, the night darker, the kids sleepier, you swapped your old tapes with Max’s, sending the girl back to her cabin happier than before. The rest of the camp followed the trails into the shallow parts of the forest, the moon filtering through the branches as they tumbled into their bunks, all smelling like smoke and with marshmallow stickiness on their fingers.
Nancy waited until Robin had been pulled away by a disgruntled Mike, Will on their heels as they claimed they needed an impartial party in order to settle a game debate, Eddie too busy laughing to indulge the boys.
“So,” Nancy murmured, shoulder nudging yours, “you heard about Steve and Billy, huh?”
You panicked at the mention of the boy, a small surge of ‘oh god, she knows’, before you remembered the bruises, the fight that Steve never explained to you.
You blew out a breath and shrugged, suddenly feeling like it was too hard to play normal, like Nancy would look at you and know, like she’d notice the lavender bloom on your skin, hidden by your shirt collar.
“I mean,” you started, voice overly casual, “I knew they tried to beat the shit out of each other, but I dunno why.”
The girl looked at you through frizzy bangs, brows raised and hidden behind her fringe. Her mouth fell into a little ‘o’, surprise colouring her features before she smiled, knowing.
“You don’t?” You shrugged again, following Nancy’s lead as you both made your way around the now empty logs, gathering up chocolate smeared paper plates and forgotten sweaters. The fire simmered between you both, the burnt out logs still glowing and smoking, the faint sound of Hopper’s records playing from his open office window filling the air.
“Hargrove was being his usual self, a complete dick.”
You snorted at Nancy’s words before she continued, still smiling.
“But then he started talking about you,” the girl said, lips twisted, eyes gazing at you. “Kept asking Steve if he thought he should make a pass at you, some disgusting comment about how easy you’d give it up.”
You screwed up your face, unimpressed but unsurprised by Billy’s words and you were standing still, feet planted as you waited for the rest of the story.
“Guess he finally pushed Steve too far, ‘cause before any of us knew it, he flew for Billy, fist straight to his face.”
Your jaw dropped, lips parted, eyes wide. “Oh.”
“Yeah,” Nancy huffed out a laugh, “took Eddie and Hop to break them up, Steve was really gunning for him. But I guess, I can’t really blame him, Billy was still running his mouth even after Steve rattled his jaw.”
“Huh.”
You were speechless.
“I know, right?” the girl smiled and she walked around to take the stack of plates you’d collected, looking at you with the air of suspicious interest that only Nancy Wheeler could manage. “Has, uh, anything happened between you two?”
You baulked, eyes ever wider and you wondered if Hopper’s music was loud enough to cover the thumping of your heartbeat. You laughed, forced, pulled your brows together and scrunched your nose. “What? Who?”
God, you’d never made it as an actress.
“You and Steve,” Nancy replied lightly, settling another inquisitive stare on you. She seemed to be searching your face for clues, for hints. “You’ve been getting along better lately, no arguments.” She grinned, sharp, “it’s been quiet.”
You barked out a laugh, nervous and shy, because she was right, of course she was right, Nancy was always right, she just didn’t need to know the reason why.
So you shrugged again, feeling warm, wondering if you needed to blame the leftover heat from the fire for your flushed appearance. “Yeah, uh, I guess Hopper finally decided to keep us apart.”
Your words sounded scripted, the lie sounded thick and it tasted weird on your tongue. Nancy smiled at you like she knew everything. But she nodded, soft and placating as she sighed and picked up another sweater, chocolate stained, and a hat that looked like Dustins.
“Yeah,” she agreed, “I guess.”
----------
Robin was already asleep as you pushed your feet back into your shoes, your friend snoring softly from her bunk, hair covering her eyes, lips pressed into a pucker with her face squished to the mattress edge.
The rest of the camp was somewhat quiet, the hushed conversations coming from some of the open cabin windows, torch lights shining out of cracks in the curtains, whispered stories and secrets lingering in the still warm air. Hopper’s cabin was illuminated in the distance, music still playing softly, the backlit figures of the camp leader and Joyce sipping wine over the desk.
You passed Eddie as you walked towards the lake, sticking to the shadows off of the path, converse crushing pinecones and the boy was leaning over the edge of the railing of his porch, a sneaky joint hanging from his fingertips, the tip glowing a dirty red in the dark.
He caught your gaze, grinned wide and toothy as he raised a hand in a lazy wave and you felt too warm knowing that he was well aware of his own missing bunkmate. Did he know? Did Steve tell him? Did you mind?
“Late night rendezvous, Hawkins?” Eddie whispered, head tilted to look at you teasingly. You flipped him off and he chuckled, low and throaty. “Don’t argue too loud now, you don’t wanna wake the kids.”
And then he winked, stubbed his joint out onto the railing and padded back into his cabin, barefoot and ready for bed.
The camp was darker without the campfire lighting up the main square, the tall trees blocking out most of the moon, the stars white dots between indigo clouds. It got brighter as you neared the lake, skirting the edges of the beach before you waded through the longer grass, the messier part of the waters edge that no one was usually allowed into.
Wildflowers and weeds brushed your bare shins, your pyjama shorts not doing enough to keep you cool, even in the night. The summer lingered in the air, on your skin, leftover sun kissing at your cheeks, your shoulders. Or maybe it was the anticipation of what was waiting for you on the other side of the lake, who was waiting for you.
So you moved a little faster, crickets chirping in the longer grass, cicadas buzzing from the forest you’d left behind. The moonlight danced off the surface of the lake, the water silver, the air fresh and sharp. Everything was pine and cedar, damp moss and old smoke.
And then Steve was sitting in a clearing in the bush, bare feet dipped up to his ankles in the water, jeans rolled up as he sat on the remnants of an old dock, half of it destroyed by weather and time with the bare bones of the boathouse behind it.
Steve looked up as you approached, hiding his smile by looking back out at the water and he shuffled along the old boards a little, letting you sit down next to him. You pulled your shoes off like he had, tucked your socks inside so you wouldn’t lose them and you sighed when the cool water licked across your feet.
You wish you could say the silence was comfortable, and it was, in a way. The night wrapped around you both like a warm blanket, familiar in a way that only the camp was, smoke and mountain air, fresh water and cedar.
But there was something buzzing underneath it all, an electrical current that carried tension and questions. It fizzed, it crackled. It was stolen glances from under lashes, hands curled around the edge of the dock, close enough for pinky fingers to brush. It was the promise of another kiss, the flushed cheeks of remembering that you had kissed. It was the boom, boom, boom of a nervous heart, that sticky feeling of not being able to swallow properly.
Your shoulders brushed, hands grazed, breath hitched and chests burned. There was a smile on your lips that you were trying to hide, the kind that made your cheeks ache, biting your tongue to stop the sheer giddiness of it all.
“D’you still hate me?” Steve asked, and he sounded like you felt, that hidden smile in his voice, rosy around the edges, the sunshine boy in the middle of the forest.
You laughed, soft and on a huffed breath, chin tilted down so you could watch the way your toes trailed patterns in the water, the way the lake looked like ink underneath you both. You thought about his question, about how you would’ve answered it a week ago, how you wanted to answer it now.
You realised then, that despite what had occurred in that small space in time, the answer would have been the same.
“I’ve never hated you, Harrington,” you told him and his surname sounded so much nicer now, an endearment on your tongue instead of a curse. “Not really.”
Steve glanced at you from under his lashes, brown eyes looking black in the night, the shadows on his face blue and the bruises from Billy looking darker than before.
He smiled, lips curling a soft line, dimples appearing and he looked adorably shy. He nudged you, shoulder bumping your own.
“I don’t know if I believe that, princess.”
You knew he was joking, at least you were sure he was. But you guessed that such a statement required an explanation. So you inhaled the mountains, the forest, the lake and Steve in your lungs, before blowing it back out with all your pride.
“I was always jealous I guess,” you shrugged, eyes on your hand, fingers playing with an old knot in the wooden board you sat on. “You always seemed to get what you wanted. You were so popular, everyone liked you. Even the teachers.”
“Kinda immature, I know,” you flushed, bottom lip tucked between your teeth. “It just seemed like everything I wanted - everything I worked so hard for - was just handed to you.”
You snuck a glance at the boy, knowing that your words were unfair. Steve wasn’t stupid, he did well in school, well enough to get good grades and get away with being too cheeky every now and then.
“I know that sounds harsh and- and I’m sorry that I always spoke shit about your dad,” you cleared your throat nervously. “About your family, your uh, financial situation… that was never very nice of me.”
It wasn’t a secret that you didn’t live in a house that was as big as Steve’s, or that through middle school, your mom worked two jobs. But you were happy and it wasn’t Steve’s fault. You knew that. You’d always known that.
But the boy only nodded, a knot between his brows and he moved closer until his knee knocked against yours as if he was telling you it was okay.
“No, uh, you’re right,” Steve whispered. He was frowning, like he had only really come to this realisation then. “You’re right, about my dad.”
You didn’t want to be.
“He’s not really around, you know? Neither is my mom. There’s always business meetings, trips out of town, out of state.” He laughed, humourless. “Which is why we stay in that nice, big house, I know but-”
Steve swallowed, face twisted in sadness and frustration and you ached to reach out and smooth away the lines there, the furrow on his forehead, the downturn of his lips. Somewhere in the distance, something small splashed in the lake.
“-but they’re just never around. They never were.” He looked at you, smile sad, eyes sadder. “My dad’s just an ATM. He’s a cheque, a couple of numbers after a report card.”
“Steve…”
He didn’t want your sympathy you realised, he didn’t want pity. But he didn’t brush you off when you lay your hand on his leg, rough denim under your palm, just above his knee.
“My mom was the same, pizza money on the counter, a couple of hundred dollars for the weekend when I was fourteen and they had to go to Memphis -no, Minnesota - I can’t remember. But I was alone the whole week.”
“That’s horrible,” you told him. Your statement was simple, an understanding, a fact, and Steve liked that your voice didn’t soften for him, it didn’t change.
“Yeah,” he agreed, nodding and pulling the hand that was on his knee into his own. Your fingers tangled with his and your tummy flipped at the roughness of his palm.
“I hated when he pulled that shit, you know? The science fair?” Steve scrunched his nose in annoyance. “He didn’t even stay for the results, to watch me get a prize. He just paid and left.”
Your hand squeezed his a little tighter.
“Your parents were always there,” he murmured and his voice warmed. “I remember in fourth grade, when we changed classes and you were so nervous, your mom was there giving you a hug and your dad was taking photos even though you were crying.”
“I wasn’t crying,” you huffed, voice breathy because you were embarrassed by the memory, shocked that Steve remembered. “You noticed me?” You couldn’t help but ask.
He only hummed, still smiling, both of you leaning into the other more than before, letting the boy take your warm weight as you accepted his.
“I always noticed you,” he said and his sincerity was life altering. “You just drove me crazy.”
It didn’t sound like a bad thing, when he said it like that, when he was looking at you the way he was.
“Did you always hate me?”
Steve grinned, shaking his head as he looked out onto the water. “Never did, princess, I told you that already. I guess I was jealous of you too, huh?”
You were shocked, lips parted, heart heavy. But then you shook your head, thinking of something else to say to clear the weight in the air because you didn’t want to think of fourteen year old Steve in that big house all alone anymore.
“I work here to save for college,” you told him, like it was supposed to be a secret, like Steve hadn’t heard you talk to Dustin about it before. “My grades weren’t quite good enough to score me a scholarship so-” you trailed off, gesturing uselessly to your staff shirt you were still wearing.
“I failed my Chemistry exam,” Steve told you in return, voice unaffected. “Then I told my dad I wasn’t even sure if I wanted to go to college, that I didn’t have a clue what I wanted to do.”
You turned to look at the boy, traced the lines of his face with careful eyes, the slope of his nose, his jaw, the curve of his cheek.
“He cut me off,” Steve said simply, “we don’t really talk anymore. So I’m tryin’ to save up for my own place.”
“In Hawkins?” You asked, because nothing else seemed to matter.
“Anywhere,” Steve answered. “Where d’you wanna go to college?”
“Anywhere,” you told him and it felt like a confession.
His smile was blinding.
—————
Steve kissed you behind your cabin, the forest your only audience. He pressed you into the wet wood of the wall, just like he had done the days before, rain on his skin and his lips on your neck.
But this felt like a first kiss, it felt like the first time. No one dared you to do it, no fight or challenge in either of your bodies and it made you melt against him all slow and soft, butterflies in your stomach, your heart in your throat.
It still felt new, it felt like a crush, like something to wake up and look forward to in the morning, like the first day of summer, the morning before camp began.
Steve kissed you lazy and deep, like he had all the time in the world, like he wanted to swallow you whole like then night. He tasted like mint toothpaste and soda, the fizz of it making you buzz, cherry and sugar on your tongue. He brought his hand to your cheek, fingertips pressing gentle to your skin, his thumb soothing over the sting of his teeth on your bottom lip.
It made you push up onto your toes, chasing his mouth, your hands in his hair and making him bend down for you, sighing all happy like he didn’t care you were telling him what to do.
He kissed you like he wanted to keep you.
It was hard to pull away from each other, even when the rest of the camp was asleep and the night was drawing into early morning. You craved the touch of the boy you’d always kept at arm's length, amazed at the way you responded to him so easily, so desperately, like your bodies were both yelling at you, asking ‘why weren’t we doing this all along?’
You wanted to tell him your secrets, you wanted to share your summer. You wanted to ask what this meant, but you were too scared, maybe still too full of pride and the idea of going back to Hawkins and being rejected was too much to bear.
So you took the stolen kisses behind the cabin, hands touching bare skin under shirts, edging just shy of being scandalous, the sounds of your soft breath mixing with Steve’s and it was dizzying.
It was enough for now.
You went to bed with one more kiss still fizzing on your lips, a new mark pressed on your neck, hidden under hair and matching the one you had given the boy. Steve watched as you walked into your cabin, footsteps soft and the shy squeak of the door made you both cringe but Robin stayed asleep.
You waved goodnight, eyes tired but your heart still thumping, and when Steve raised his hand in response, a smile on his face that had the shadow of shyness, you wanted to squeal.
It was ridiculous, this giddiness, this new feeling for the boy you’d known for so long. It wasn’t all that different though, being pressed up against Steve Harrington as he kissed the breath from you. He still made you wanna bite back, kiss him harder than he’d kissed you, a sense of a challenge lingering around you both at all times.
It just felt more fun now.
—————
Hopper seemed almost disappointed that he hadn’t managed to collect more damage money from you and Steve. There had been a mason jar sitting on his desk from day two, a haphazard sticker on it with the words `therapy savings' written in sharpie. After the kayak incident, there had only been a few more dollars stuffed into it, some loose change for snarky comments made at meetings and one green M&M that Eddie had managed to throw into it from across the room.
But the camp was still standing after another year, the buses and cars of parents littering the spaces between the cabins as the kids dragged out too big duffel bags, yelled about lost games and forgotten socks.
Some kids lined up to hug you goodbye, El and Will sniffling softly into your t-shirt as your own tears fell into their hair, your arms wrapped tight around them. You’d see them next year, like you always did, when they were older and taller and less likely to throw themselves into your arms in greeting.
Dustin told you all about a radio he was building, something that would allow you to chat to him through the school year and he was handing you a scribbled note with all the best walkie talkie brands on it and numbers for different frequencies. He let you mess his curls one more time, his grin wide and his cheeks pink.
Lucas and Mike helped you load your bags in your car, despite their parents standing waiting with smiles on their faces. You pestered them both into a hug, both of them pressed to a shoulder as you told them to be good and stay out of trouble.
Your voice didn’t really crack until Max appeared, Walkman around her neck and another cassette in her hand. She tried to look casual about it when she handed it to you, a piece of tape stuck to the front with the words ‘love from Max’ written on it.
“Maxine,” you gasped, all faux shock and she rolled her eyes. “You made me my own tape?”
The girl shrugged, one hand pulling at the end of a braid as she scowled, trying to keep the pink from her cheeks.
“It’s no big deal,” she muttered to the ground, “your taste in music needed expanding.”
She said it huffily, but she meant ‘I’ll miss you.’
“Thanks kid,” you whispered, throat tight, eyes glassy and you nudged your shoulder into hers. She pressed her head to your arm in lieu of a hug, saving that one show of rare affection for Lucas instead.
Then she was gone, along with the rest of the kids, and the camp was finally quiet again.
Billy picked up his wages and left without saying goodbye to anyone, duffel bag dragging on the ground as he grabbed a greyhound out of Indiana, face still mottled with bruises from Steve’s fists.
Robin left with Eddie, the boy telling her that he’d drive her home instead of her having to share the same fate as Billy, shoved on a bus during the high heat of the day. She didn’t take much convincing when Eddie jumped into the driver seat and started blaring Prince from the radio, curls messy as he grinned at her.
“C’mon Buckley, you can’t say no to me.”
And she didn’t.
They boy hugged you tight before they left, Robin promising to write, promising to visit and Eddie lifted you off of your feet, crushing you to his chest as he whispered in your ear, “look after my boy, huh?”
They left in a plume of dust and dirt, the sound of ‘purple rain’ trailing behind them.
Nancy and Jonathan were next, the girl doing one last round through the cabins, arms full of forgotten drawings, a lone teddy, seventeen odd socks. Then she hugged you, eyes fond, leaving with her boyfriend for a week's holiday in his hometown before promising you that she’d catch up with you back in Hawkins before college started.
It left you and Steve alone in the staff parking lot, sun shining, blue skies, green forest and birds chirping.
He was leaning against his car, arms crossed like the way he was looking at you was no big deal, smile all soft and familiar now, like that’s the way he’d always looked at you.
Maybe it was. Maybe you’d never noticed.
You pressed your hip into your own car, eyes full of trouble as you gazed at him expectantly. Steve raised his brows, smirked like he wanted to argue with you, like he wanted to kiss you.
“Race you home?” He asked and god, his voice was honey, sweet and warm, capable of stopping you in your tracks.
You laughed, patting the hood of your old car affectionately before telling him, “nah, my car is slow as shit.”
Your callback to his own words at the beginning of camp made him bark out a bright laugh, genuine amusement in his eyes and he shook his head, lips twisted.
“Glad you can finally admit it, princess.”
You wondered if this was a goodbye, if this was it. You wondered if you were supposed to talk about what had happened, if this kiss you shared behind your cabin meant the same to Steve as it did to you. If you were supposed to go back to sharing the same town and calling each other names like you hadn’t been on top of him.
So you waited, a beat of silence, a roll of summer washing over you both. The breeze picked at both your hair, stray stands blowing across lips and mouths and you sighed, soft, wanting.
“Uh, there’s um,” Steve was scratching the back of his neck, eyes fond on you, smile all nervous. “There’s this diner in Lowell, they do a pretty good burger.”
You grinned, happiness beating out of you like the fucking sun.
“Oh yeah?”
“Yeah,” Steve called back, grinning just like you. He looked pretty, softer than you once knew him, all wild curls and caramel eyes, new freckles on his nose, the bruise you gave him faded on his throat. “D’you wanna stop for lunch?”
You could’ve sworn the only sound in the forest was your heart.
“Are you asking me out on a date, Harrington?”
You waited for the scoff, the teasing, the taunt. You were so used to the quick, sharp bite of a reply, that when he shrugged all slow and lazy, head tilted to look at you from under his lashes, you were surprised.
“Yeah,” he told you again.
It was such a simple reply. One word, so sincere, heart stoppingly sure.
You ducked your head, hiding your grin, your flush, the way your eyes must’ve been glittering. It felt a little magic, a little manic, that feeling of something new.
It felt like a first kiss, a boy touching you during a thunderstorm, like the taste of rain, the smell of campfire smoke. It was all Steve fucking Harrington.
So you nodded, took a breath, took a chance, grinned and opened your car door.
“I’ll meet you there.”

head start
author’s note: s/o to @ethancale for making me come out of a writing slump of like two/three years. it should be noted that the reader is one year younger than jack. it should also be noted pt. 2 that i am just now understanding hockey so if the timelines don’t match up or i mess up terminology, oh well, i tried. this is my first thing i’m posting on here so please be nice, or don’t, i can’t tell you what to do.
pairing: jack hughes x reader
summary: you’ve had a crush on the middle hughes brother for as long as you can remember. and really, why wouldn’t you? he’s everything. so why would he ever fall for you?
warnings: a little mention of drinking. cursing? writing in all lowercase? is that a warning?
Tumblr media
13/14
summers at the lake house used to be fun, full of wakeboarding, the scent of sunscreen, the feel of fresh water hitting you in the face. but that was before you turned thirteen. before you realized your best friend unintentionally sent a shiver down your spine that couldn’t be blamed on a cold wind.
and it’s not like he noticed, jack hughes still referred to you as his little sister as he tousled your hair. you were just fortunate enough that he was too focused on hockey to really care about other girls so you didn’t have a direct line of comparison.
“are you gonna come swim or not?” jack burst into your kitchen, your parents, who sat at the table with you, didn’t even bat an eye. you had a spoonful of cereal halfway to your mouth that was quickly dropped back in the bowl.
“why? are you bored?” you teased, secretly hoping this would be the moment he confessed his undying love for you, but he just shrugged and moved his wet hair out of his face.
“i need someone to help me drown luke.” your heart sunk a little bit, but what did you expect? a love confession in the artificial lighting of your kitchen?
you sighed and pretended to think about it, like you weren’t two seconds from sprinting upstairs and changing just to spend time with him. “alright,” you started, not missing the way he smiled in triumph. “just let me get dressed.”
while you changed, he made small talk with your parents. your dad was really into hockey, and probably resented not having a son who would play though he would never admit it.
you came back downstairs dressed in a one piece (your parents still insisted you were too young for bikinis) and lathered in sunscreen. “let’s go!” you said as you ran past your parents and out the back door.
“race you to the water!” you screamed over your shoulder as you sprinted barefoot towards the dock. you could hear his feet pounding behind you, knowing you only had a few seconds before he inevitably caught up, you pushed faster.
only for him to beat you at the last second, jumping straight into the water with you following shortly after.
“you had a head start and still couldn’t beat me!” he yelled at you once you breeched the surface.
pretty was the only word you could think of to describe the way he looked at that moment with water falling down his face and the sun lighting up his eyes.
“you okay?” he asked, his voice softer than before.
“i--”
“incoming!” luke launched himself over you and jack, splashing the both of you and ruining whatever moment you thought you were having.
if you were hesitant about helping jack drown his brother, you were sure now.
17/18
“new jersey's a long way from michigan,” was the first thing that came out of your mouth when you saw jack after he was drafted. you both sat on the dock outside his house, feet dangling in the water, shoulders close enough to brush against each other.
he shrugged it off, like he always did. “that’s why we have phones.”
but a phone can’t recreate your hugs or the way your laughter feels inside my chest is what you wanted to say. but you settled for: “you’re right. but you have to promise to always pick up when i call.”
“that’s a hefty promise.”
“this is a hefty friendship.” he still didn’t look convinced. “look, it’s not like i’ll call when you’re at practice or every friday night. i just don’t want you to forget about me when you become rich and famous.”
jack laughed like it was the funniest thing he ever heard. “i could never forget about you.”
your heart soared in your chest much like the birds above the lake. everything about what he said sounded sincere and it lit a flame in your stomach that you’d never experienced before.
“i mean,” he continued. “ at the very least, the buck teeth you had as a kid are seared into my mind. i couldn’t forget those even if i tried.”
and there it was: the reminder that he’d always see you as a child, even if you were only a year younger. it sucked knowing he’d only ever attribute you to your awkward phases and never the growing woman you were slowly becoming. the year age gap never seemed like a problem when you were younger, but the older you got, the more he seemed to reference it.
a flicker of confusion appeared on his face before you realized you hadn’t laughed at his “joke.” so you plastered a smile on your face and playfully rolled your eyes. “funny,” you said because it was easier than confessing that it hurt.
“hey,” he started, bumping his shoulder with yours. “regardless of what happens, you’re still my best friend.”
“and you’re mine.”
and maybe that’s as far as your relationship goes, maybe you never get to experience what his lips would feel like on yours, but you’d settle for sunsets on the dock if it meant he could stay a little longer.
18/19
his rookie year might’ve sucked, but your senior year didn’t. you don’t know what it was, maybe it was your hair, or the fact that you cared a little bit more about your appearance, maybe it was because you stopped giving a fuck what others thought and just lived your life.
or maybe, and the saddest maybe, was that you stopped being jack’s little shadow.
you used to wait around for him to answer the phone, knowing his practice schedules and games like the back of your hand and working around them. you’d watch him play on the tv and wait two hours before attempting to call him. and to his credit, he did pick up the first month of living in new jersey, but then it was every other call, then every other week, then once a month until you stopped calling altogether.
luke noticed the difference, often walking over to your house to find you not at home, only to see you getting out of a car at 2 in the morning, stumbling drunk up to the front door.
he caught you one day in the hallways of school between classes. “are you alright?”
you opened your mouth to answer, but you were cut off by a pair of lips swooping down and planting one on you. your boyfriend, matt, mumbling a quick hello before he headed to class.
“sorry about that,” you said once matt disappeared down the hall. “what were you saying?”
luke didn’t say anything for a moment, just stared at you and the retreating back of your boyfriend. “jack’s in town tonight for a game last one of the season, just wondering if you were going.”
“did he get tickets?” you asked.
luke nodded. “one for mom, dad, you, me, and rachel--”
“rachel?” you said quietly, already feeling the dread rise up in your chest.
luke rolled his eyes, not taking notice of the panic bubbling underneath the surface of your body. “jack’s new girlfriend,” he explained. “she’s nice and all, just not who i saw him being with.”
“oh,” you said. then a beat later, “can i bring matt? i’ll pay for his ticket.”
luke looked hesitant but nodded anyway. “i don’t think it’ll be a problem, let me text jack and i’ll let you know.”
by the end of the school day, you got a text confirming that matt could come, ellen and jim opting to just pay for it instead of bothering jack about it.
the game itself was good if you ignored jack’s mediocre performance, something you never thought you’d ever say out loud. and for the most part, you didn’t pay attention, choosing to focus more on explaining the game to matt. when the game ended, you kept close to matt and luke, ignoring the excitement of rachel (who was not as bad as your jealousy led you to believe), and completely unaware of the looks ellen and jim kept shooting each other.
after what felt like ages, jack finally appeared from the locker room, freshly showered. rachel ran up to him first, hugging him tightly before he could even take in the appearance of anyone else.
“you did great, babe!” she cheered.
you had to keep a snort to yourself because he did not, in fact, do great, and judging by the look on his face, he knew it too.
jack pulled away from the hug and finally looked at who came to support him, but his eyes stopped on the arm around your waist. three things seemed to happen at once and so quickly that you couldn’t really understand their meanings. his eyes darkened, his jaw clenched, and he swallowed like he was being force fed something he could barely tolerate.
but they all disappeared in the moment his parents hugged him, luke following up with a smaller hug until the only people left to greet him were you and matt.
“hey,” you said, unsure of how to greet someone who essentially dropped off the face of the earth.
“who’s this?” he asked, eyes locked on yours.
you furrowed your brows. after months apart, little to no communication, this was how he greeted you? but a quick glance at his family and rachel told you it wasn’t the place to pick a fight.
“this is--”
“matt, i’m her boyfriend,” matt cut in, extending a hand to shake.
jack glanced at the hand and then you before hesitantly reaching out to shake. “jack, her best friend.” was all he said.
but matt didn’t stop there. “the one who stopped answering her phone calls?” he asked right as you felt the blood drain from your face. he tilted his head to the side to appear innocent, but you were familiar with that gleam in his eye.
jack didn’t back down, he just clenched his jaw. “and you’re the boyfriend no one mentioned? must sting, knowing you weren’t important enough to be invited in the first place.” he smiled and shrugged before turning around, kissing rachel, and heading back towards the locker room.
you shot a glare at matt before chasing after your best friend.
“jack wait!” he stopped walking, but didn’t turn around until you tugged on his wrist.
“what?” he asked, sounding tired and burned out, unlike the heat of his words just seconds before.
“i’m sorry he said that, he’s usually not...” you trailed off.
“such a dick?” he deadpanned. “i’d hope not.”
“jack...”
he held his hands up. “sorry. that was out of line.”
“little bit.”
jack sighed and ran a hand down his face. “why didn’t you tell me you were dating someone?”
you looked at him with your brows furrowed once again. “when should i have done that? the fourteenth or fifteenth phone call you didn’t answer?”
“i’m sorry--”
“you broke your promise, jack. and i get it, you’re busy but you said you wouldn’t forget about me and you did.”
“i never did!” he insisted. “listen, i know there aren’t enough excuses in the world to make up for how i’ve treated you the past few months, but i didn’t forget about you, i swear. i just didn’t want you to hear about hard it was playing professionally, i didn’t want you to be disappointed in me. my family’s reactions were hard enough.”
“i never thought less of you, jack. i was just waiting for you to talk to me about it.”
“well now that we’ve established that i’m an idiot for ignoring you, can i take you and everyone to dinner? as a treat for being a shitty best friend?”
for the first time that night, you left a genuine smile grace your face. “of course.”
you broke up with matt two days later.
20/21
when you were younger, you dreamt of going to ivy league schools and living out the dark academic lifestyle, but being at michigan proved to be better than anything you could’ve imagined. the culture, the campus, the sports all had you in a chokehold.
which was why you were grateful that luke continued playing hockey (as if there was any doubt).
“are you coming to my game this week?” he asked one night while you both were hanging out in his dorm. “jack will be there.”
you did a double take and nearly spit out the water you were sipping. “he will?”
“since he’s not an all star this year, he has a bye week. said he’d come see me play.”
your heart pounded in your chest. “oh,’ was all you could say.
“but if you ask me, i think he has ulterior motives,” luke said, wiggling his eyebrows in the process.
“okay stop that,” you threw a bottle cap at his head. “it’s weird and freaking me out because i have no idea what you’re implying.”
“don’t play dumb with me now,’ luke started. “you’ve had a crush on my brother since you were like twelve and you haven’t dated anyone seriously since matt.”
“and?”
“and? jack hasn’t really dated anyone since rachel.”
“he said he was too focused on hockey.”
luke scoffed. “if a guy wants to date someone during hockey season, he will make it happen. the point is, jack isn’t interested in dating just anyone.”
you blinked.
“do i really have to spell it out for you?” he asked. “jack likes you.”
“no,” you immediately replied. “i’m not getting my hopes up on a chance.”
“there is no chance! it’s the truth!”
“did he tell you that?”
“...not in so many words.” you opened your mouth but he butted back in. “but i know my brother, even better than you do, i know what he looks like when he’s in love.”
“jack doesn’t love me like that,” you mumbled.
“why couldn’t he? you’re a catch, and he’s known you forever. hell, i’d date you if there was a chance that you’d go for me and that jack wouldn’t absolutely murder me.”
“you’re out of your mind, luke,” you said before standing up. “and i’ve got to head home. i’ll see you at the game, alright? don’t suck.”
a few days later, you found yourself freezing your ass off sitting front row when a sweatshirt was tossed onto your head as someone plopped down in the seat next to you.
“why can’t you ever remember to bring a jacket to these things?”
jack.
you smiled and shoved him in the arm. “you made it!”
“of course i did, wasn’t gonna miss seeing luke play.” when you took a look at him, you noticed how his hair had gotten longer but was hidden under the baseball cap he wore, probably in a sorry attempt to keep things low-key.
“how have you been? how’s the team been?”
jack clutched at his chest. “you mean you haven’t been keeping up?”
you rolled your eyes but laughed anyway. “it’s better to hear from your mouth than random sportscasters.”
“it’s better, i really love it.” you made eye contact and for a second, the chatter around the room dissipated. the only ones who mattered were the two of you. “how have you been? how’s school?”
but you were lost in the cerulean color of his eyes. all you could muster to say was “fine,” before the buzzer went off, signaling the start of the game and snapping you both out of whatever trance you were in.
when one of luke’s teammates scored, you both jumped up and screamed, but it was jack who leaned down and yelled over all the noise. “you better cheer this loud when you come to my games.”
“i don’t think so!” you yelled back. “luke is my favorite hughes brother, now.”
you barely got the words out before his hands attacked your sides, pulling shrieks and laughs out of your mouth. “take it back!” he said.
you kept laughing until you couldn’t take it anymore. “fine! i take it back.”
“say ‘jack is my favorite hughes brother.’“
you opened your mouth--
“no wait, say ‘jack is my favorite hockey player of all time.’“
you rolled your eyes but did it anyway. “jack hughes is my favorite hockey player of all time. there, you happy?” he nodded and suddenly it didn’t matter that you had to sacrifice some of your pride. how could you care about anything else when jack hughes smiled at you like that?
you both met luke down by the locker rooms, jack swearing to take you both out to dinner to congratulate his brother on a game well played. the three of you went to a small diner in town. luke sat on one side of a booth, jack on the other. you stood contemplating which seat to take before jack tugged you into the booth beside him, throwing his arm over your shoulder like it’s always found a home there. luke smirked but said nothing.
it would be another few weeks before you got to see jack in person again. both of you tiding yourselves over with facetime calls and texts.
he brought up being in town for another game and wanting you to attend. you drove yourself and luke to the arena, dressed in jack’s jersey you bought from a merchandise section.
“i’m sure he would’ve given you one if you’d just asked,” luke said.
“it’s not that big of a deal.”
“jerseys are expensive.”
“thanks luke, i had no idea.”
“i’m just saying, you could’ve gotten it for free. he would’ve done it gladly.”
by the time the both of you made it to your seats, the game was about to start.
jack was having a great game. with multiple assists and goals scored, you found yourself wondering how he was even human. there were seldom times where you and luke were actually seated because the both of you were cheering and jumping so much.
at the end of the game, both you and luke made your way down to the locker room, waiting for jack to finish with the interviews as he got off the ice.
“don’t look so nervous,” luke said. “he’ll be happy to see you.”
and sure, that was true, but there was something about that night that felt different. he kept moving his sweaty hair out of his face and glancing around. it wasn’t until he caught sight of you and luke, that jack quickly wrapped up his interview and all but ran towards them.
“good game jack,” you smiled. but his was brighter.
“you came,” he breathed. you could vaguely register luke walking away, but didn’t think much of it.
“you asked me to, why wouldn’t i come?”
“you’re entirely too good for me.”
“jack what’re you talking about--” but your words were cut off when his hands grabbed your face and pulled your lips to his.
it didn’t feel like fireworks, or butterflies, or anything you imagined it was be. it felt like coming home. like the culmination of all your dreams met in that exact moment. his lips were chapped and he smelled like sweat but you couldn’t have imagined this moment any more perfect than it already was.
you only stopped when the need for air overrode the need to stay close to each other.
“what was that?” you whispered.
“a few years in the making,” he replied. “how long for you?”
“since i was twelve.”
he laughed and kissed you again. “you had a head start and i still beat you.”

Coming back home in the middle of summer was…a lot. You’d just finished your second year away at college and you weren’t supposed to come back home until Christmas six months later, a compromise you’d agreed to only for your mother. But then she’d called out of the blue, sobbing, hysterical, and you had booked a flight back home to Virginia before she’d even hung up.
When you did finally arrive the morning after, she was much calmer, but the edge in her voice remained and you knew something was wrong. The only problem was that she refused to tell you what it was. It wasn’t until your high school friend took you out to lunch later that she finally clued you in as to what was going on.
Your father had apparently been caught getting busy with another one of the professors at the college he taught at. Someone had taken a…suggestive picture and now everything was in shambles. Well, not everything, mostly just his own marriage. From the little bits of information you were able to string together from your mother, it was clear that he was gaslighting her into believing that the picture was taken out of context and he wasn’t actually having an affair.
It had all blown up in your face about twenty minutes ago. Your house was packed with people, mostly your father’s close friends, colleagues, and their wives. He had decided to host an end of term/start of summer cocktail party to quell whatever doubts lingered amongst his social circles that whatever had or had not been taken didn’t mean anything and his marriage was still going strong. What he hadn’t accounted for, however, was you coming back to make sure your mother was alright.
You’d been holding onto the anger all afternoon as you followed your mother around, yelling and complaining and just desperately trying to reason with her. You’d never been a huge fan of your father. Sure, he’d done the bare minimum to give you life and was now paying for the part of your tuition that wasn’t covered by all the scholarships you’d gotten so that you didn’t have to graduate with massive loans. But aside from the small kindnesses he awarded you every so often, your relationship was nonexistent.
It was almost as if he’d predicted your mood because he didn’t arrive at the house until the party was minutes from starting. You had thought about leaving, about going out and getting wasted with your high school friends, but before you could even tell your mother you were going out, you found her crying in the master bedroom. And just like that you were back to seeing red.
The door swung open and you practically stormed towards it like a woman possessed.
“We need to talk,” you started. “No, let me rephrase, I need to scream at you and you’re going to listen—”
“Honey,” your father said sternly, opening the door fully. “Do not be rude to Aaron, say hello.”
Shame hit you like a bus as Mr. Hotchner came into focus behind your father. Fuck, he was good. It was eerie how clever your father could be when he didn’t want to be told off, when he knew that he’d done something wrong and instead of owning up to it he’d do everything in his power to avoid talking about it.
“Hi, Mr. Hotchner,” you managed through gritted teeth as your father walked past you and into the kitchen.
“Hello, sweetheart,” he replied, an amused smile on his lips. “I didn’t know you were coming back for summer break.”
“I’m not,” you tried to keep your voice steady. He must’ve known why you were angry, why the sudden outburst, but he didn’t reply, he simply nodded, lips in a thin line, trying to look anywhere but you.
“Well,” he broke the short silence. “I better put this on ice.”
He held out a bottle of Scotch he’d presumably brought over from his own house next door and walked after your father. You stood alone at the open door, the freedom of the night away from the exhaustion of fighting against your parents alluring. And yet you couldn’t seem to walk out, couldn’t seem to will your legs to move you in the direction of the rational choice.
Your heart was beating unbearably fast, and it wasn’t because of whatever was happening between your parents. No, it had everything to do with the FBI agent that had just walked into your home and the way he had clearly glanced down at your exposed cleavage before he had to immediately shift his gaze to anything else.
Aaron didn’t want to leave you there but he truly didn’t have a choice. You were wearing a tight black dress, so tight in fact that he could’ve sworn he saw every curve of your body. What had made it even worse was the way your breasts were practically spilling out of the garment, the trim of your lacy bra peeking around the edges. He’d felt like a teenager all over again, his crotch tightening uncomfortably as he tried his hardest to listen to the words coming out of your mouth to make sure that he responded eloquently.
Your mother had already put out ice buckets and he practically slammed the bottle into an empty one. Was it stupid to chill Scotch? He honestly couldn’t even remember anymore as he desperately wished he could’ve dunk his already hardening erection on the ice as well. He needed to get a grip, needed to calm down, needed to pretend like he hadn’t already seen your body in the many pictures you had posted online in the two years that you’d been gone.
He served himself a double, watching as you left the door wide open and retreated back upstairs. He lingered by the table for a moment, finishing his drink and calming himself down. He’d known you for a little over two years, at least on a first name, dinner at your house every month, type of way. You had just graduated high school when he started teaching part time at the college where your father also taught. The two of them had become fast friends and in the months that followed while you waited out the summer to start classes you had babysat Jack while Aaron was away on cases.
It was wrong and he definitely knew it. But there was something so captivating about you, about your kindness and curiosity and interest in not only his work but in him as a person. You loved getting to know people, getting to share secrets and discuss the root of existence and emotion and life. It was easy to forget that you were this young, your eloquence far higher than most of the adults that had just started shuffling into your home.
He’d filled his glass up once more as your father’s friends and his colleagues arrived. He plastered on a polite smile and greeted everyone as they made their way through the house. The repetitive nature of small talk for the next twenty minutes allowed him to forget about you, calm his body down enough to appear normal, collected.
He had migrated to the backyard with the rest of his colleagues after a while, the men around him engaged in mindless conversation about the break ahead, their vacation plans, and anything that wasn’t about the elephant in the room, because he knew, they all knew, that your father had clearly been caught redhanded and if they didn’t get their wives to agree that he was nothing more than a victim, they could be taken down next.
You waited until the backyard was packed with people before you emerged from your room. If your father didn’t want his friends gossiping about his affair tonight then you’d give them something else to talk about. And what better thing to gossip about than your father’s college age daughter practically displaying her body for all of his married friends and their wives.
Wearing that skimpy thing that did nothing to cover you up could only mean one thing – you were trying to get back at your father. Aaron couldn’t help but almost choke on his drink as he watched you saunter back out of the house. His ears began ringing loudly as you swayed your hips, clearly asking for attention. You walked right up to the edge of the pool and dove in without so much as a single word, the stark contrast between the cocktail party and your rebellious, summer blowout attitude jarring.
He couldn’t help but notice your father’s absence back out in the courtyard, your mother also conveniently nowhere to be seen. He could only assume that she was either consoling his poor, broken ego or sucking him off inside. Either outcome made him feel incredibly bad for you, bad that you had to come back home to rumors of your father’s infidelity and your mother’s complete denial of it.
While she was working overtime trying to fix a one sided relationship, you were determined to lash out against it in the most childish way you could possibly think of, and that unfortunately meant parading around your backyard filled with middle aged men in practically nothing.
Well, fortunate for him because he got to see the way your nipples hardened against the sheer fabric the second you stepped out into the cold night air, got to marvel at way your waist dipped into your full hips, the plush muscle begging to be squeezed tightly, got to catch the faintest glance at the outline of your pussy against the red material. It was unfortunate because he knew he wasn’t the only one staring at you and he had to bite his tongue as he began to hear the men around him murmur about your body.
He wanted to step up and use his own frame to shield you from them, to hide you away from their practically salivating stares. But instead he simply took a sip of his drink and allowed himself to watch you like a hawk, to silently guard, determined to step in if any of them actually decided to turn their thoughts into action. Because even then he couldn’t help but feel protective of you.
Your father came barrelling out of the house mere minutes later, your mother practically running to catch up and stop him. He was about to blow up, about to make a scene, one that you were eagerly waiting for when her hand landed on his chest and he seemingly remembered where he was and who he was surrounded by. He instantly relaxed his face and Aaron couldn’t help but take a step forward, tense and ready to fight him.
“Honey,” your mother spoke instead, layering the guilt on thick. “Please get out of the pool, I don’t want you catching a cold.”
Aaron set his glass down and walked over to the little hamper by the grill, expertly fishing out a large towel. He could feel everyone else start to notice that he’d moved, that he was inserting himself into something that clearly had nothing to do with him. But it didn’t matter the second that your round, hurt, expressive eyes met his. His gaze softened, just for you, to let you know that you didn’t want to make this any worse than it already was. And for the first time ever, you listened to him.
Your mother thanked him as he walked around them, towel extended in his hands for you to simply curl yourself into it. He could tell your cheeks were flushed with embarrassment, and when he draped the fabric over your shivering body, he could smell the faint, lingering scent of alcohol on your breath. He sighed deeply, just for himself and you followed suit, taking the moment to compose yourself.
“Thank you,” you whispered, delicate fingers taking the towel from him and wrapping it around yourself, terrified of what your reaction would be if you’d let him do it for you. You were back inside the house in seconds, the party resuming quickly as your parents started their rounds of greetings and small talk. He lingered by the pool for a few minutes, not wanting to be incredibly obvious about following you inside.
He told himself that he only wanted to make sure you were alright, that there was nothing wrong with being concerned for you after what had just happened. And so when the waiters began to pass out hors d'oeuvres, he took advantage of the distraction and slipped back into the house.
“Sweetheart?” he whispered loudly as he willed the wood beneath his feet not to creak loudly against the final step of the staircase. “Are you alright?”
The second floor was deserted, terrifyingly quiet and dark. He noticed the light was on in your bathroom across the hall from your room and he approached. The second his shadow landed over the wood, the door swung wide open, greedy hands grabbing a hold of his shirt and pulling him into the small room.
“I need you,” you slurred, your hands sliding down towards his belt, trembling fingers struggling with the silver buckle. He couldn’t stop the groan that erupted from his throat, the sounds spurring you on.
He was so distracted by the thrill, the shock and surprise of your neediness, of your clear desire for him that his brain short circuited for a second, lost to the sensations he’d been craving from you for years.
You’d never done anything like this before, never even flirted with each other as far as he was concerned since he made sure to watch his words around you, only allowing himself one thing, to call you sweetheart. Which could only indicate that your sudden boldness meant that you’d thought about this just as much as he had, that you’d caught him staring at you with hunger in his eyes just like he’d caught you staring at him with danger in yours.
“Sweetheart,” he said bluntly, trying to use his words before he was forced to use his hands to stop you. “You’ve had a lot to drink,” you scoffed. “You’re upset,” your hand squeezed over the outline of his cock and it took everything in him to not let out a single sound. That seemed to do the trick as your confident demeanor slipped away and the terrified girl desperately trying to hide resurfaced.
Tears laced your eyes, your chest began to shake, your hands trembled, slowly slipping away from his body. He scooped them both up in his warm, large palms, bending your arms over your chest before pressing you tightly to his. You began to sob then and it broke Aaron’s heart. Your face landed over his frantically beating heart. If you noticed through your tears you made no effort to comment on it. He held you like that for a while, not caring at all that his clothes were definitely wet now.
“I’m sorry,” you whispered to him, arms crossing over your chest in a feeble attempt to cover yourself up now that you were clearly not going to get what you’d wanted only seconds before. He crouched down and picked up the towel off the floor, this time making it a point to drape it over you and wrap you tightly in it. You felt like a child, a dumb, stupid child that had just thrown a tantrum and had been scolded. It was humiliating.
“There’s nothing to be sorry for, sweetheart,” he assured you, allowing himself to talk down to you just a little. His heart was still racing, his mind even more so now as he realized that the barrier that he’d put up between the two of you all those years ago had just been shattered into a million pieces. “Why don’t you take a shower and get some sleep?”
You nodded, refusing to look him in the eyes. But he would not have it. He hooked a finger under your chin, gently yet forcefully, pulling your gaze up to meet his. His thumb ghosted over your bottom lip, your mouth opening slightly without him doing anything to you.
“Good girl,” he hummed and you practically whimpered, your thighs pressing together. The side of his mouth curled into the tiniest of smirks before he removed his hand from your body completely and walked out the door, leaving you alone in your bathroom with a fire burning in your chest.
Tumblr media
You were unsure when the decision had been made, but you’d awoken the next day to a letter from your mother on the kitchen counter, the house spotless as the cleaning crew she’d hired probably went through it the night before. Your parents were gone for the rest of the summer, apparently one of your father’s friends had a timeshare at some resort in Italy and they were able to squeeze your parents into their trip last minute.
You released a sigh you hadn’t realized you’d been holding. The memories of the events of the night before had been washing over you in powerful, drowning waves ever since you opened your eyes fifteen minutes ago. You regretted at least ninety percent of your actions, having been so wrapped up in getting back at your father that you had completely forgotten that your actions would also affect your mother. The look of disappointment, of complete and utter shame and embarrassment that had taken over her face as she spoke to you haunting, especially now in the brightness of the day.
And then there was Mr. Hotchner. Fuck, you cringed every time you remembered what you’d done, how you’d come onto him so pathetically. You couldn’t deny the rejection didn’t hurt but he had been right. You were upset, unbelievably so, and it would’ve stung even more to think of your first time with him to have been because you were trying to make your father angry, not because you actually wanted to sleep with him.
And oh boy did you want to.
As much as Freud was an idiot, you were very aware after two years of your psychology degree that your attraction to older men had everything to do with your need to seek the approval your father denied you from your romantic partners.
You’d had a very childish crush on Mr. Hotchner for years. It was silly, something that kept your pussy wet at night and made your friends giggle whenever you told them about the hot neighbor that you used to babysit for. But you knew he was unattainable. You could never have him, and sadly, that only made you want him even more.
In an act of defiance you hadn’t done what he’d told you to do the night before. Instead you took off the remaining pieces of clothing you still had on and tossed them into your shower before you walked across the hall to your room, pulled out the shitty bullet vibrator you’d left behind two years ago, and desperately tried to get yourself off. To say you’d been unsuccessful, your fingers and the weak device never even coming close to what you truly desired, what you needed.
That had only made you angrier, angrier at yourself, angrier at him. By the time you had drank your first cup of coffee all of your embarrassment had washed away into cold, seething irritation. He clearly wanted you just as much as you wanted him. You definitely hadn’t imagined the way he responded to your touch, the way he’d groaned in response. And that was the problem. He’d been holding himself back, whatever friendly relationship the two of you had built, one that you regarded as honest and sincere nothing more than a facade he’d concocted to keep you at arm’s length.
You grabbed a pair of sunglasses that your mother must’ve left on the kitchen counter and placed them over your eyes before walking back out to your backward. You were aware that there was a specific spot in front of the sliding doors that he could see from his house next door. You’d noticed it when you were babysitting one time, the thrill that he could’ve seen you in your bikini at some point that summer driving you insane.
You didn’t want to be at arm’s length anymore. You refused to let whatever fears you were holding onto because of his relationship with your father to stop you from going after what you’d wanted for so long.
You dragged a lounge chair over to that exact spot, the blaring sun perfectly over it as the excuse you needed in case he brought up your pathetic ploy. Once you were satisfied with your placement you shrugged off the robe you’d been wearing, the fabric falling off your shoulders and pooling around your feet in an instant to reveal absolutely nothing covering your body.
You’d fallen asleep at some point, completely naked and aggravated. You made sure to take your time getting into a comfortable position over the chair, chest out, legs curled suggestively, putting all of your assets on display. With the bait set, it was now a matter of waiting for him to bite.
You heard him yell your name across your house about ten minutes later. It didn’t surprise you that he had his own set of keys, your stomach already twisting in anticipation and excitement at just how easy it had been to get him exactly where you wanted him.
“Are you decent?” he asked with a smirk in his voice. He knew you weren’t. “Jack is here with me.”
You practically leapt off the chair, frantically picking up the robe and putting it on as the two of them walked out onto the backyard. Jack said your name then, chipper and excited, immediately melting away any ice left behind. You turned around just in time for the boy to wrap himself around your legs, squeezing you into a tight hug which you reciprocated, pulling him up to sit on your hip.
“Hi, angel,” you greeted the boy. “How’s summer treating you?”
“Hot,” he replied, trying to push himself away from you. You couldn’t help but laugh, setting him back down in the shade. “Can we swim in your pool?”
“Of course you can!” you replied. “Do you mind if I join you?”
The boy’s eyes practically widened out of his head in joy, turning back to his dad with just an unbelievable amount of energy.
“Not at all,” Mr. Hotchner replied for him and you shot him a smile before you excused yourself to go change into something kid appropriate.
To say that he’d seen your little display was an understatement. He’d been sitting on his desk in his home office, finalizing his weekly schedule with Jessica when he saw you step out. He knew, after much trial and error, that you couldn’t see him from this angle, and so he made no effort to move to get a better look.
And then you took off your robe and he was abruptly presented with your naked body. His mouth went dry in an instant, his pupils dilated, his heart pounded against his chest. It took him a full minute to realize that Jessica was trying to get his attention before his brain reconnected with his body and he asked her to repeat herself.
Five minutes later he was hanging up the call and rushing down the hall to ask Jack if he wanted to go swimming. The boy practically leapt to his feet, running across his room to get himself ready. They didn’t have a pool at their house, so your mother had generously let them use theirs after you went away for college. She’d even gotten them key to the house and sent him the alarm code every time they changed it just in case.
Aaron changed into his swimsuit in record time, practically tripping as he ran back and forth, all over the house, looking for the many, many toys that Jack definitely needed to stay distracted for the next few hours. As much as he wanted to walk over alone, find you naked and eager for him, fuck you on the lounge chair and then probably inside the pool to cool off, he couldn’t leave Jack behind, he wouldn’t leave Jack behind because he didn’t want you to know just how much you had affected him.
This was a power move, one that he had fallen for instantly. What he needed to do was not give in, not give you what you wanted, continue to frustrate you, to tease you until you couldn’t take it anymore, all because he wanted to remind you that he held all the cards, that he was the one calling the shots, that he would be the one on top while you writhed in pleasure beneath him.
You returned a few minutes later in a plain black one piece. To say he was disappointed was an understatement, but he admired your decorum while you were around Jack. It was like a flip had switched, eyes clouded with lust and desire clearing away to joy and excitement to spend your day with a hyperactive kid instead of lazily sunbathing your troubles away.
You handed Mr. Hotchner a bottle of sunscreen, having specifically chosen the cream kind instead of the spray so that he’d be forced to touch you when you asked, “Would you mind getting my back?”
He looked up at you with the same eyes from last night and you were surprised your knees didn’t buckle. He looked at Jack then to make sure the boy was adequately engrossed in his toys, clearly deciding which ones he was going to play with first, before he opened the bottle and squirted some of the cream into his palm.
“On my lap,” he ordered, low and just for you to hear. Your eyes immediately darkened and he smirked knowingly. You rolled your eyes then, reminding yourself that today was just playful after all.
You stepped forward towards his opened legs and prettily sat yourself down on his thigh, your back to him. You’d already put your hair up so he went right in. His warm, sticky palms landed on the sides of your neck first, slowly sliding down your shoulders before they returned to the center and then slid down your exposed back. While you couldn’t wear the skimpy, barely there suit you wanted, you’d still chosen something that gave him a subtle peek of your body.
He continued his movements, unapologetically taking his time, dragging his touches, lingering over your neck and putting pressure around it. You shivered under his hands, your ass unconsciously grinding down on his leg.
“Be a good girl and stay still,” he purred in your ear, his breath hot against your skin. You stilled immediately, his fingers squeezing around your neck softly in reward. “All done.”
Your brain processed the words and yet you made no effort to stand up, and he made no effort to make you. His hands grazed down your arms, the backs of his fingers practically leaving feather light kisses on your skin until they landed on your hips. He gave your love handles a squeeze before he let his hands settle over your lap, leaning down to rest his chin on the crook of your neck.
The gesture itself had been so casual yet unbearably intimate that you didn’t notice you’d stopped breathing until your lungs started to burn. You inhaled sharply, your entire body shivering as you tried to keep the panting at bay.
“You say the word and I’ll stop, sweetheart,” he whispered against your neck, gentle and kind, his tone meant to reassure you that you still had power. You nodded and he pressed a kiss below your ear, making you shudder once more. “So responsive for me.”
A whine escaped your lips, making Jack turn back to face the two of you. His hands were off you before you could even register, your own body reacting instinctively as you shot up to your feet.
“Ready to get in the water?” you managed, flashing the boy a bright smile. He nodded enthusiastically, picking up a few of his diving toys in one hand before taking your outstretched hand with his other one. He diligently led you to the shallow end of the pool and Aaron watched as you both threw the little fishes into the deep end, giggling as Jack tried to toss them farther than you.
He took a moment to compose himself, a moment to shift the material of his swim suit to try and hide the evidence of his arousal. He hated how easy it was for him to come undone around you, how you had him wrapped around your finger and could get him hard by simply existing. It made him feel young again, his libido higher than it’d been in years, and it was all because of you.
He was brought out of his thoughts when he heard you and Jack splash against the water. Jack resurfaced first, already panting as he worked overtime to keep himself above water. You appeared then, like a beautiful mermaid coming above water to lure unsuspecting sailors to their deaths. And in that moment Aaron knew that he’d sink to the bottom of the ocean if it meant he could have even a taste of you.
“Daddy!” Jack yelled, getting his attention. “Come into the pool!”
“Yeah, daddy,” you teased. “What are you waiting for?”
All the playfulness drained from his face in a second, making you choke on your own saliva in response before it reappeared as if nothing had happened. Your thighs rubbed together, the knowledge of the effect your words had had on him thrilling.
“Coming buddy,” he replied to the boy, choosing to ignore you as he stood back up, kicking off his flip flops and cannonballing into the pool.
Jack’s laughter brought you back down to reality as the waves his dad had created crashed over you, cooling your overheating face. You watched him resurface at the other end of the pool, one of the fishes you’d thrown under between his fingers.
“One to zero,” he announced playfully and Jack gasped, immediately diving down to gather as many fishes as he could, giving Aaron the perfect pocket of privacy to glance back at you. His face fell into a stern look of warning, daring you to call him that again to see what you could find out.
You smirked back briefly before diving underwater, the mere mention of a challenge overshadowing whatever tension lingered between the two of you.
You grabbed three fishes, swimming across the pool towards him underwater. You made sure Jack was above water before you made your move, fingers wrapping around Mr. Hotchner’s trunks to pull yourself out of the water as you practically climbed him.
You felt him tense against your touch and that made your body flood with warmth once more. You made him feel like this, you made him react like this, you had the same effect on him that he had over you.
Your head pierced the surface and he wasted no time pulling you further out of the water, his arm hooking around your waist again and pressing your hip against his painfully hard erection.
You gasped loudly, nervously looking around and noticing that Jack had thankfully gone back underwater so at the very least he wouldn’t see the euphoric expression on your face.
“Fuck,” you moaned, your hands steadying yourself against his chest. “Mr. Hotchner,” you whined and his grip tightened.
For a second you forgot about where you were and the game you were still playing. Your eyes landed on his. They were hazy, glossed over and dangerously close to snapping.
“Address me properly,” he ordered, lifting his knee to slide between your legs and press you further into him. You swallowed a moan, your breathing ragged, your skin unbearably tight over your body.
You opened your mouth to speak but the word was screamed into existence by a voice that wasn’t yours. The two of you turned to face Jack who was eagerly swimming over to where the two of you were. You started to shift uncomfortably, trying to pull away from him, but he kept you in place as if you weren’t caught in a compromising position.
“Did you get tired of swimming?” Jack asked you like this was the most normal thing in the world and you managed a nod. “That’s okay! I get tired sometimes and daddy has to hold me too.”
Your cheeks heated up once more and you thanked every deity out there that the sun was so hot on your skin that the kid didn’t notice a change. Jack reached out and grabbed a hold of his father’s shoulder to keep himself above water before pulling out his other hand from under the water, a fistfull of the colorful fishes in his palm.
“I got six!” he told you and you finally snapped out of your daze, groaning dramatically as you showed him your own loot only being three.
“I demand a rematch!” you told the boy before tossing your fishes back into the pool. He followed your lead and held your stare, the two of you seizing the other up before he got tired of waiting and dove back into the water, his giggles getting swallowed by the water.
“Little cheater!” Aaron let you go then and you followed after the boy. You were so concerned with winning the silly game that you didn’t even notice the dopey smile across his face, one that he couldn’t hide from himself, one that almost made his heart burst with happiness.
You played with the fishies a few more times until Jack was complaining that he was starting to get hungry and the three of you got out of the pool to dry off while Mr. Hotchner ordered lunch.
You reapplied Jack’s sunscreen, placed a hat over his head and a towel over his body before you walked into the house to make a pitcher of lemonade and get some of the fruit your mother had bought a few days ago so that you could snack on it while you waited for the pizza to get there.
You’d cut the lemons and had started squeezing them into the pitcher when his hands wrapped around your waist again, his front pressing against your back forcefully. You ground your ass back into him, never once stopping your task.
“Hi,” he whispered in your ear.
“Hello,” you replied, squeezing a half of a lemon with your hand, too lazy to get something else dirty.
“Thank you for today,” he continued, his hands now slowly running up and down your sides, begging to elicit a reaction from you. “I know it’s not exactly what you planned but Jack is having a lot of fun.”
You hummed in agreement. “I’m having a lot of fun too.”
“Oh, yeah?” he stepped forward, locking you in place between the counter and his chest. “I’m having a lot of fun three.”
You snorted at the insinuation and the terrible joke, and he laughed in return, the two of you devolving into a fit of giggles like you’ve known each other intimately for years. And in a weird, almost strange way, you had. You’ve always had this rapport with him, this deep understanding of each other, mostly because you were both so into the other that you’d actually spent many nights asking questions, eager to know more.
“Can I kiss you?” he asked you once the laughter subsided and your heart started beating rapidly once more.
You immediately twisted around in his grip, holding your hands up and away from him as the juices from the lemons ran down your arms.
“Yes,” you heaved and he didn’t waste another second as he pressed his lips to yours. They were so soft and still warm from the sun still lingering over them, lulling you into a sense of safety. You opened your lips as his hands left your waist and cupped your jaw to press you further into him. You moaned into his mouth as his tongue entered, deepening the kiss into a hungry and desperate mess.
He pulled back so you could breathe after a few more laps and your eyes blinked open, the light reflecting against them and making them shine almost ethereally. He smiled, his thumbs rubbing over your cheeks. You returned the smile, somehow already feeling warm and fuzzy from just a kiss. He leaned in again, his nose playfully tickling your own, making you giggle sweetly. He truly wanted nothing more than to make you laugh all the time.
He was about to press his lips against yours again, already craving the feeling like a man that had been left to wander the desert for days, when his phone rang loudly, interrupting the tender moment. He sighed deeply, apologetically looking at you and you immediately shook your head, letting him know not to worry about it. He picked up the phone, determined to make the conversation quick so he could return to what he truly wanted to do.
In the meantime you finished the lemonade, washed your hands with soap, and brought the pitcher, some glasses, and the bowl of cubed watermelon to the table outside. You checked in on Jack, the boy having fallen asleep, making you chuckle softly. You sat yourself at the table and waited for him to come back, already missing his lips.
It was certainly an interesting turn of events, made even more interesting by how easy it was to fit into his life. Even with your parents you always felt like the odd one out, like they were their own thing and you just sort of existed around them. But with Mr. Hotchner and Jack…you felt like you just fit right in, like you’d always been a part of their family.
When he finally exited into the backyard he bore a very different expression on his face, one of remorse and stress. The playfulness from before had left his body and all that remained was the stoic FBI agent you’d sometimes get when he returned from cases or…got called into one.
You sighed deeply, knowing that was exactly what had happened and he had to stop himself from melting at the thought that you just knew what he needed before he could even ask it.
“Do you need me to look after Jack?” you asked as he sat down on the chair across from you.
“Please,” he replied, taking your hand in his and squeezing gently. “Jessica can pick him up at school Wednesday afternoon and take him to her place.”
You nodded, returning the squeeze and trying to alleviate his guilt with an understanding smile.
“When do you leave?” he asked you then, one of the many elephants in the room finally getting addressed.
“Friday morning,” you replied and it was his turn to sigh, defeated. As much as you understood his work and just how much he needed it, he also understood your own, your life being far away from D.C., far away from him. He just wanted you all to himself, here with him all the time, and it pained him that he couldn’t have it.
After allowing himself another moment of sitting in silence, of feeling his emotions and letting them tear his heart into pieces, he stood up, pulling you to your feet with him. He crushed his lips to yours and your hands finally tangled in his hair, his own greedily squeezing your hips.
“Pizza should be here any minute,” he mumbled against your lips.
“I got it, don’t worry,” you replied, pressing a closed kiss on the corner of his mouth. “Why don’t you say goodbye to Jack?”
He nodded, reluctantly letting you go as he knelt down beside the lounge chair and woke the boy up. You watched as they said their goodbyes, your fingers coming up to trace your lips where he’d just kissed you, all the conflicting things you were feeling crashing over you at once.
Tumblr media
The first phone call came that same night. It was late, you were already asleep when your phone vibrated on the nightstand next to you. You were honestly surprised that you’d heard it, annoyed more so than surprised as your eyes blinked open painfully.
“Hello?” your voice was deep, hoarse and clearly exhausted.
“Hi, sweetheart,” his on the other hand was soft and awake.
“Hi,” you replied, settling back on the soft pillow and closing your eyes.
“Did I wake you?”
“Mhmm,” you whined and it broke his heart.
“I’m sorry,” to his credit, he did sound sorry.
“It’s okay,” you mumbled.
“I just wanted to say goodnight to Jack.” And to you.
“He fell asleep immediately…” You tried to stay awake, desperately, but sleep was pulling you down, the heat from spending the entire day under the sun had seeped deep into your bones, making them heavy. The current had sinked your boat and you were peacefully sinking under the waves with it. You didn’t even register him calling your name, realizing that you were probably out of it, and finally telling you that he’d call you another time.
You woke up bright and early the next morning, your senses overwhelmed by just how much his bed smelled like him.
It was honestly a stupid thought, that the things that were his carried him with them, but it didn’t matter how many times you’d slept here in the past, there was something so all consuming about them now.
Your three days with Jack went by quickly. You had forgotten how much of a perfect kid he was, how attentive and kind and easy it was to take care of him. Getting him ready for school was a breeze, breakfasts were filled with laughter and him rambling on about the dream he’d had the night before. Once you dropped him off at school, you found yourself missing him more than you ever had, and so you spent your days wandering aimlessly.
On Monday you cleaned the entire house, top to bottom. You put on one of Mr. Hotchner’s records on and drowned the house in music, your voice booming just as loudly as the singer’s, wanting nothing more than to distract yourself from the ache in your chest.
On Tuesday there was a lice outbreak and luckily, Jack was not affected. They still had to shut down the school for the day, so Jack had gotten a half day. You took him to the store to buy enough baking supplies to start your own bakery, and spent the rest of the afternoon making cookies and cupcakes.
It was around six that your phone rang. You were in the kitchen, cooking dinner for the two of you. Saucepan forgotten, you immediately crossed the room, fingers fumbling to answer the phone.
“Hey, give me one second,” you cut him off, putting him on speaker before you stepped out into the hall. “Jack! Your dad’s on the phone!”
“I don’t know if I should be touched or offended that you don’t want to speak with me,” he cracked and you couldn’t help but smile, making your way back to the device on his counter.
“I always want to talk to you,” you hummed. “But I also know you’re busy and—”
“Dad!” Jack ran into the kitchen, swiping the phone away from you and running right back down the hall. You laughed to yourself, returning to the stove before you burnt something.
You hadn’t been speaking, not really. Every so often you’d send him a picture of what you were up to and he’d do his best to reply, always short and sweet. He never sent any pictures of his own for obvious reasons, but it still made your heart constrict every time that you woke up the morning after to a missed call from him.
They were on the West Coast, in a small town somewhere in Oregon. At least that’s what you’d gathered from the messages here and there. By Wednesday you said goodbye to Jack at dropoff and told him you’d see him for Christmas. He was, understandably, very upset, since you’d just spent, what he kept calling, the best three days of his life with him. It broke your heart, shattered it into a million pieces, but you reminded him that you didn’t live there anymore and that you had other places to be. Obviously not cooler than spending time with him, but that it was still important.
Jessica called you that afternoon to let you know that she had Jack and you chatted for a bit. She was always so easy to talk to, her openness to their strange family dynamic almost overwhelmingly supportive. She always remembered your birthday, always sent you a card (one that you knew she’d been making Mr. Hotchner and Jack to sign every year), and always made sure to ask if you were coming back home for any major break.
She liked having you around, liked the extra support you had given them while Jack was out on his own break, liked that the boy clearly loved you and felt safe around you. And after the three days you had spent with him then, it only made sense to start thinking about actually coming back home next summer to help them out, to have an excuse to see him as often as you could.
You spent Wednesday and Thursday working on the tasks you'd been left with from your internship. They had graciously allowed you to go home after you informed them there was a family emergency, but you still had to meet the weekly quota, just like everyone else. Being in your house alone was...exhausting. It was too quiet, too empty, too devoid of Jack's infectious laugh and...and Mr. Hotchner's low and inviting voice.
You hadn't spoken to him since you let him know Jessica had picked his son up. You knew he was busy, knew that he probably didn't want to speak to you while his mind was not in the right place, while he was using most of his energy to do his job. He didn't text and so neither did you. And as much as you understood why, the silence had only made your heart clench in pain, your brain already overthinking all the possibilities.
He was supposed to arrive in a few hours, having received the only text he'd sent to tell you that they were about to take off and that he should be back home in a few hours.
You’d decided to get one last swim in before you returned to your concrete life that was Brooklyn. But if you were being honest with yourself, you just needed a distraction.
You’d been drowning, quite literally, as the finality of the distance that you were about to put between yourself and Mr. Hotchner loomed closer and closer. Sure, he traveled a lot for work, he was away at least sixty percent of the time…but you had moved away two years ago with the intention of cutting yourself loose of all the ties keeping you in D.C.
It had been easy to do so, the only one that truly hurt you every day being your mother. But now, after sitting with your overwhelming crush that has snowballed into catching actual feelings for him…was hell.
You needed to talk to him about it, needed to ask him to tell you that everything was going to be okay, that you could make this work, whatever this was. But you also didn’t want to pressure him, didn’t want to pressure yourself to get tied down to something that could very easily not work out.
You were floating on your back, simply allowing the water to gently rock you around the pool when you saw a pair of slacked legs walking towards the edge of the pool.
“There you are, sweetheart,” he hummed. “I’ve been calling for a whole minute and you didn’t answer.”
You stood yourself up, shooting him an apologetic smile as you walked towards him.
“'m sorry,” you murmured, the tightening on your heart only squeezing harder now that he was really here. He shot you a smile in response but he looked tired, defeated almost. You could only imagine what it must feel like to walk around with all of that weight, with the burden of the atrocious things they dealt with every day.
He squatted down next to the edge and you propped yourself up on the space between his legs to pull yourself high enough for his lips to reach yours. The kiss was short and soft, domestic almost, as if you did this every time he came back home from a long case.
You slid back into the water, unable to hold yourself up any longer as an excuse to put some distance between the two of you. You were certain that if he stared at you for even a second longer, he would definitely know there was something wrong, that somehow he’d be able to see into your body and realize just how contorted your heart was.
“Join me?” you asked, trying to change the subject before it was even brought up.
He sighed, conflicted. “I don’t think we should, sweetheart.”
“Please,” you whined. “I promise I’ll behave.”
He chuckled at that, knowing fully well that you most definitely would not, because he would most certainly not. But he found himself standing back up, quickly shrugging off his button down, the white wife pleaser underneath, his shoes, socks, and pants. You watched him in awe, mouth hanging slightly open as you began to salivate, your desire quickly making you forget all about your painful feelings.
He smirked at you as he sat down on the edge of the pool and slowly lowered himself into it. You hadn’t realized until he stretched his hand out to you that you’d drifted away to the other side of the pool. You took a small, steadying breath, trying to appear as normal as possible before you walked back to him.
His hands wrapped around you instantly, bringing you into him tightly. It was almost as if he relaxed into you, his breathing deep and steady, a drastic contrast to your rapidly beating heart. You tried so hard to copy his rhythm, to blend into it in a feeble attempt to not raise suspicion, to show him that you were happy he was back.
And it worked...for almost a second.
“Thank you for taking care of Jack,” he said.
“It was my pleasure,” you replied almost too quickly.
“Alright, what’s wrong?” he pulled back, his gaze desperately trying to meet yours.
You hated him so much, hated how good he was at his job, hated how he could read you like it was the easiest thing in the world. Meanwhile, you were having to use all of your knowledge to just guess how he was feeling.
“Nothing’s wrong,” you lied, your fingers subconsciously fiddling with his hair. He sighed, shifting your core away from his as his hand snaked down to pull your swimsuit bottoms out of the way. Your eyes widened in shock and confusion, finally snapping up to meet his but his attention was no longer on your face.
Before you could question the sudden advance, he plunged his middle finger into you, making you moan loudly, your walls clenching around him.
“Tell me what’s wrong,” he ordered, his finger curling upwards to hook against the spot that he somehow knew instinctively would make you come undone.
You whined, holding onto him tighter. “I’m scared!”
“Of what?”
“This–” he curled his finger again, another moan erupting. “Us– fuck, I’m scared that I won’t be able to see you every day and it’ll mess up whatever this is,” you practically screamed.
His movements stilled and you decided to foolishly allow yourself to meet his eyes. He was staring at you with what you could only describe as relief?
You blinked, realizing that he was allowing you to read him like he could read you. You’d said exactly what he was thinking, what he was also holding in, what the heaviness that he carried had been about.
He pressed further into you. “Do you want to be mine?”
“Yes,” you moaned. “I want to be yours, all yours.”
“That’s good,” he groaned. “Because I want to be all yours too, sweetheart.”
You whined at his words, the tight grip fear had on your heart releasing just enough to let you breathe again.
“I thought…” you trailed off, afraid that if you said what you’d thought aloud that he’d hate you. Instead he just waited patiently for you to muster the courage to say what you’d been holding in. “I thought you might only want to fuck me and nothing else.”
He shoved another finger into you at that, as if you say how dare you think that. You moaned again, your body tensing up, your walls pulsing around his fingers, practically keeping them hostage inside of you.
“So tight,” he mumbled, clearly needing a moment to regain his composure before he spoke again. “I’ve wanted you– to be with you for a while, sweetheart. I was just…afraid of how it could destroy your relationship with your parents.”
The second elephant in the room reappeared and you couldn’t help but get another one of your fears off your chest.
“Did you know he was…” you trail off before you can finish your sentence but Aaron knew exactly what you wanted to ask him.
“No, I didn’t,” he shook his head, intensely observing your reaction. When you tensed under his touch he wasted no time to press a soft kiss to your temple. If you didn’t know but now you do then why are you still hanging around with him? That was the second part of your question, of your uneasiness, of your tensing body.
“To see you,” he murmured against your skin and you pulled back from his touch, far enough to look him in the eyes. “I kept coming back to see you.”
The confession made your stomach flip. You didn’t know how to respond, how to tell him that you’d felt the same way in a way that didn’t make you come across as insane or clingy or immature. So instead you smiled softly, leaning forward to press your lips to his once more. His grip on your body tightened, his lips on yours opened, pulling you further into him. You may not have tomorrow, but you definitely had tonight.
“I am more than happy and willing to take this slow, to just see where it goes,” he makes it crystal clear, no way to misinterpret his words, no way for you to twist them until you’ve convinced yourself that you’re crazy. Instead you just let your mind free.
“Please fuck me,” you begged and a groan loudly erupted from his throat. His fingers resumed their fast pace but you whined in response, trying to stop him. “No, I need your cock in me, please.”
He shushed you then, kissing your temple gently as he only doubled down in his forcefulness.
“Let me make you cum first,” he replied. “I gotta stretch you out, you’re so tight.”
You whimpered then, a symphony of breathy moans as you remembered just how big he’d felt through his pants. If he was telling you he needed to work you up before he could slide inside of you then you would obey. Fuck, the anticipation alone was going to be the death of you.
The water began to splash over the edge, the constant crashing of waves somehow in perfect synchronicity to the pace he’d set. It quickly became overwhelming, as if your pleasure was so intense it was actually transcending your body and manipulating the world around you.
You moaned into his ear, your hands desperately digging into his back, trying to anchor yourself to him, afraid that you could slip away at any moment. He began peppering kisses along your jaw, each one lower and lower until he was physically unable to reach any more of your skin due to the water level.
You were so close, so, so, close and he could feel it. Your body had tensed, your toes curled against his lower back, pulling him closer to you. And with one final thrust against the spot inside of you that made you see stars, the band snapped and you were screaming, not caring if the neighbors could hear you.
He worked you through your orgasm, his fingers slowing down to a bearable pace as you rested your forehead against his chest.
“Are you okay, sweetheart?” he asked, clearly concerned that you hadn’t said something for a couple of minutes. You nodded against his body, slowly pushing against his chest to face him.
“Never better,” you replied and his eyebrows shot up in provocation.
“Do you want to make them a little better?” he teased and you couldn’t help the smile that took over.
“Yes.”
He pulled his hand out of you and you whined at the loss of contact.
“Such a greedy girl,” he mocked. “You’re about to be stuffed with my cock and you’re whining about missing my fingers.”
You shivered, eyes darkening as he grabbed a hold of your hand and led you back to the shallow end of the pool. He helped you out of the water, his hands attentive, possessive, never once letting you take a step without being on you.
Once you were out of the water he pulled you into him swiftly, lips back on yours with abandon. You practically melted into his touch, into his embrace, into him. Every thought in your brain was about him, about how soft his lips were, about how he smelled like a warm fire in a forest, about how his rough hands felt on your body, about how desperate he was for you.
You didn’t even register as he undid the knots of your bathing suit, only felt the cold air against your nipples, making them immediately perk up. The back of his hands accidentally brushed one as he shuffled to discard your top and you moaned into his mouth. The noise that reverberated from him in response was addictive. His eyes snapped open and he pulled back, your own lips chasing his in protest.
But he didn’t give you a second to figure him out as he arched your back with his hands, his mouth latching onto the nipple he’d just touched. It was your turn to mewl, eyes glossy and hands hungry to dig into him.
“Aaron,” you whimpered and he froze, ice cold, fully stopping his movements. His mouth softly unlatched from your breast, a thin string of saliva connecting him to you. Your face heated up immediately, the mere thought that you did something to upset him filled your eyes with tears.
“What did you say?” he asked, softly, as if he knew you were feeling like a small little animal and he needed to be careful not to spook you.
“A-Aaron?” you mumble, not even once fully comprehending what you had just done.
“You’ve never called me Aaron before,” he explained, taking pity on how much your brain was clearly not working at the moment.
You blinked in confusion, a tear accidentally falling down your cheek. He immediately wiped it away, looking down at you with eyes filled with nothing but adoration.
“I’m sorry—” you started, unsure exactly what you’re apologizing for. And he shuts you up with a kiss immediately.
“Say it again,” he groaned against your lips.
“Aaron,” you repeated, his name finally feeling heavy and important on your tongue.
He places a kiss on the corner of your mouth. “Again.”
“Aaron.”
Another kiss, this one on your neck. “Again.”
“Aaron,” he licked down to the base of your neck, his teeth greedily sinking into your soft skin as his lips suck. “Fuck, Aaron, please.”
You whined again, the sting of his mouth marking your body absolutely making you lose it. Whatever wits remained evaporated in an instant. When he pulled back, eyes practically raven, face flushed, lips plump and swollen, you couldn’t help the need to reward him.
Your hands landed on the pronounced outline of his cock against his still wet, black boxers. He wasn’t quick enough to stop you as you wasted no time pulling the fabric off him. Your eyes widened, your breathing hitched in your throat, your hand trembled slightly as you abandoned your efforts to get his boxers down his thighs and instead tentatively returned your hand to hover over his length.
He was so hard, the vein running along the underside practically pulsating. You tentatively traced it with your nail and he hissed. You smiled to yourself, your full palm replacing your finger as you wrapped your hand around him, slowly pumping him.
His own hand curled around your wrist, demanding you to stop. Your eyes shot up to finally see him, to see just how clenched his jaw was, just how deep his breathing had become.
“No, sweetheart,” he huffed. “I need you.”
As if you could both finally read each other’s minds, you untangled yourselves from each other, discarding the clothing that remained on your bodies and tossed it away before his eyes landed on you, on your naked frame, now right in front of him and not far away, separated from him by the haziness of glass.
His eyes raked lower to your pussy and his brows knitted in surprise.
“You have a tattoo,” the question blended into a statement as his hand gripped your hip, pulling you forward so that he could see it better. You bit your lip, amused by just how mesmerized he looked.
“A friend of mine gave it to me first semester,” you explained, omitting the many health code violations, how you’d been high and couldn’t remember actually getting it, or the fact that you had been sleeping with your friend when he did.
He traced his thumb over it, the placement was lower than your hip, easily hidden by your underwear and small enough that he’d never been able to make it out at a distance. His thumb dug into the center of the shitty heart then, anchoring his grip as he pulled you back to him. You moaned at the sting and it only spurred him on, the realization that you liked it when he hurt you igniting a fire in him.
His other arm hooked under your ass, lifting you over his shoulder. You gasped loudly, your confusion quickly turning into a fit of giggles as he moved you both towards the lounge chair that you had rearranged earlier that week to face his house.
He made sure to hook his foot around the pants he’d discarded earlier, kicking them forward with his foot, making sure that they landed right against the chair. He then unlatched the backrest and quickly set you down on it, your entire body over the comfortable foam cushion your mother had bought last year just for the Hotchners.
He knelt between your legs, hands running down your body to pry them open for him. It didn’t take much as you opened yourself up to him eagerly. He grinned, the smile that graced you one that you’d never seen from him before, one that even he couldn’t remember when he’d smiled like that last.
Before he forgot, he reached over to where he’d thrown his pants, growing impatient as he struggled to pull out his wallet and procure a single silver wrapper from it. You’d been so consumed by the moment that you hadn’t even thought about protection.
You thought about telling him not to, that you were on birth control and that as far as you were concerned you were clean. But you had no idea where he’d been, not that talking about his sexual partners bothered you, but bringing it up now did not seem like the right time.
“Someone was sure of himself,” you teased, watching him roll on the sheer latex over himself with more concentration than you’d ever seen from him before, and that was saying a lot.
He retaliated by slamming his tip into you without warning. Your head fell back, a moan rocking through you and down to your core, the waves reverberating against him, causing him to take a sharp, steadying breath.
“You ready, sweetheart?” he panted, a little condescending and you swallowed the urge to fight back, to resume the game you’d started when you called him daddy. He didn’t know just how deep you were willing to go, how much fun the two of you would have.
But tonight wasn’t the night for it. You needed him, craved him, desperately demanded that he fill the ache between your legs. You nodded, your hands gripping the cushion below you.
He couldn’t help but chuckle at your need to anchor yourself, his ego boosted so high he had no idea how he was supposed to come back down. But he didn’t care, he couldn’t care, not when you were laid out in front of him like a buffet, what he’d been starving for the only thing on the menu now.
His left hand wrapped around your thigh, opening you further. You propped your other leg over the armrest, and he pushed forward. He had not been lying, fortunately for you. He stretched you painfully, practically stuffing you full.
He made it halfway into you when you hissed, one of your hands shooting up to wrap around his bicep, urging him to stop. He stilled immediately, slowly rocking his hips back to slide out of you before slowly pushing himself back in.
That’s when you fell, your arms giving out under you. An accomplished grin lit up his features. He sat himself back up on his heels to tower over you. Your hand sliding down to the one he’d wrapped around your leg, your fingers lacing with his, almost like a pinky promise as he continued his slow rhythm, never giving you too much, never forcing your body to take anything it wasn’t ready for.
You could practically feel the wetness dripping out of you, coating him more and more with every thrust. He could clearly feel it too, the slick making it easier for him to slide in and out of you each time.
He took it as an indication to keep going. He thrust back into you, pushing himself just an inch further than before. You were a mess of whines and whimpers, your back arching in response, needing him fully in you.
“Please, Aaron,” you slurred. “More.”
He pulled out of you completely, the desire to see himself slam back into you fully overwhelming. His hips pushed forward, easily sliding himself inside to the hilt, your ass slapping against his hips beautifully. He moaned then, his hands flying to your hips, locking you in place. You whimpered, your head craning up enough to see there was no space left between the two of you.
“Fuck,” you mumbled, your walls clenching around him unconsciously.
His eyes shut close in pleasure at your movement, jaw clenching, fingers digging into your skin deeper. You took him in, on the verge of coming undone, on the verge of cumming in seconds like a teenage boy that didn’t know how to stop himself.
You giggled, your warm laughter bringing him back to you as he realized what you were laughing about. He scoffed, blush creeping over his cheeks in the most adorable way. You clenched around him again, deliberate and mean. He almost screamed then, the moan that left his lips guttural and raw.
“Sweetheart, you’re killing me,” he huffed. “I don’t want to cum yet, give me a second, alright?”
You sighed, feigning annoyance, but respected his request, unclenching your muscles to give him a moment of respite. Your hands began to draw circles over his own, nails slowly dragging up his arms and towards his chest, gentle, curious, exploring.
You took your time, diligently running your fingers over every ridge, every dip, every single one of the scars that littered his abdomen. They were smaller now and faded from what they had been when he was first attacked, but you knew they were there.
He hadn’t told you the full story, hadn’t really mentioned it aside from briefly alluding to it when he was forced to explain a comment Jack had made in passing one time, a comment about his mother. But you’d noticed them years ago, and as much as he could act like he was over it, like he was comfortable being shirtless around you, you needed him to know that he was safe, that he could trust you.
He didn’t flinch under your touch, instead he hummed, his own hands shifting their grip on you to show you how much he appreciated your touch.
“Did you catch the bad guy?” you asked suddenly. He turned to face you with a scolding expression, this is clearly not the time for this. It only made you laugh again, embarrassed. “What? Thinking about gross things helps!”
“I don’t want to ever think about that when I’m with you, got it?” he commanded.
“Yes, sir,” you replied and his eyes darkened once more, whatever fear of bursting immediately leaving his body as lustful greed flooded back in, emboldening him.
“What you called me the other day,” he started, somehow both confident in what he wanted to ask and yet boyishly shy about it. “Are you okay with that?”
“What did I call you?” you acted dumb, so dumb indeed that it got you another powerful, forceful jam of his cock. You squealed, his tip now uncomfortably pressing deeply into you. “No, daddy, ’s too much,” you whined, your voice hitching into a sweet, high pitch that made his cock twitch inside of you. “It hurts.”
“Too deep?” he asked in his normal voice, making sure to check in with you. You nodded, desperate for him to pull back, and he immediately returned to the comfortable pain. You let out a deep breath, air filling your lungs again. He was concerned, but more than anything he was turned on, the desire to ruin you too strong. “I’m going to start moving, alright?”
“Yes, daddy,” you mumbled and he groaned loudly, his cock practically taking on a life of its own and making him react in a way he’d never experienced before.
Aaron understood what desire was, he knew what it felt like, knew what to do with it, but this? This wasn’t desire. This was debilitating, allconsuming, painful almost. His brain disconnected from his body, it was as though he was floating next to his body as well as feeling everything that was happening around him, to him, because of him.
He wanted to consume you, wanted to lose himself to the perfect sounds coming out of you, wanted to feel your tightness around him all the time, wanted to drown and stay at the bottom of your waters forever.
His moans danced with yours in a delicate choir ensemble, the slapping of your bodies coming together becoming the bass keeping the pace, the rattling of the lounge chair against the concrete floor the percussion, the scrapping of the mattress against the plastic the strings – it was all too much, too good, too perfect.
“I’m close, sweetheart,” he whined. “Rub your clit for me.”
Whatever coherent thoughts were left in you forced your body to obey immediately, your shaky hand landing in between your bodies. Your fingers were met with a lewd amount of slick, your clit puffy and screaming out to be touched. You rolled your fingers over it and the sensitivity sent you into overdrive, a snap of electricity running all the way down to your opening.
He moaned in response, your core starting to tighten with each thrust, with each touch. The pressure was tight, tighter, desperately trying to force your dam to burst.
“Daddy,” you whimpered. “Daddy, please, please, please, please–”
“Cum, sweetheart, cum all over me,” he demanded and you let it break. Waves of pleasure crashed against you, your entire body shaking, thrashing, slamming against his. Your moans turned into whines, you dug into his forearms, your legs hooked around his waist, pulling him further into you, locking him in place.
The second he felt you clench against him, the second he felt your core tighten, your slick warm his entirety, your nails digging into his arms so hard he wouldn’t be surprised you drew blood – he lost it. He managed to thrust into you two more times before he slammed himself as far as he could inside of you, not caring if it was uncomfortable for you.
He came hot and hard into the condom, his own pleasure blurring his vision, making his own body shake against yours, making his heart feel like it had skipped a beat. He stopped breathing for a few seconds, the sensations too overwhelming for his body to remember that it needed to breathe to survive.
You were panting hard, your chest rising and falling as if you’d just ran a marathon. Your nails had stopped digging into his skin but he barely registered the lack of pain. It wasn’t until you ran your fingers over the indents in his arms that he opened his eyes, seeking yours immediately.
You waited until his gaze met yours as if it was about time it did. You smiled lazily at him, completely spent, content, satisfied. He returned the smile, allowing himself to lower his body down over yours. His chest pressed against your own, softly caging you, holding you captive as his aching lips found yours.
This kiss was unlike any of the ones you’d shared, unlike any of the ones you had shared with anyone before. It was definitive, possessive, claiming you as his, and yet it was unbearably gentle, playful, wholesome.
He was the first to pull back for air, but he didn’t move away, instead he pressed his forehead to yours, his gaze unflinching, trying to communicate so much with no words at all. It was like he was making sure to savor every last drop, committing the sight and feeling of you to memory.
Aaron took much of his life for granted, the routine of it all having numbed him to most things that other people would deem as exciting or fulfilling. The only area of his life where that wasn’t the case was his son. That little boy made everything worthwhile, every battle worth fighting, every day worth living. And now, looking at you, feeling how good he’d made you feel, he knew had found something else, someone else, that made him feel excited for what the next day could bring. That made him feel fulfilled in more ways than he could yet comprehend.
Whatever doubts you’d had, whatever walls you had started to put up to protect yourself now laid crumbled all around you. He was right from the start, you were his, whatever that happened would happen, the best that you could do was ride the waves and see where they would lead you. All that did matter was that he was there and that you knew that he was also yours.

If you made it this far, thank you so much for reading! This chapter was a blast to write after all the angst that Moments has killed me with.
My requests are open! I have a few chapter ideas for Mr. Hotchner but I would love to hear what y’all would like to see. Even if it doesn’t make it into the actual series, I will try to write some cute lil blurbs.
And also, because I’m a writer that needs validation, please leave me comments or love letters if you’d like to remain anon. I need the praise and love, thank you 🩷
Ps. The next chapter is titled Guest Lecturer so you can imagine what kind of debauchery I’m about to write.
Pss. Let me know if you’d like to be tagged in future updates!

summary: pool days and future dates
A/N: WE DESERVED LIFEGUARD STEVE WHY DID BILLY GET THAT ROLE!!!!!!! but I know we got scoops steve, but still!!!!
masterlist / steve harrington
Tumblr media
everyone was at hawkins community pool if they didn’t have one sitting in their backyard. the weather was in the high nineties with a slight breeze to cool you off if you were laying out tanning. the dozens of kids were splashing and squealing in glee, screaming as they played marco polo or sharks and minnows. many parents trusted the lifeguards to do their job so they indulged in their books or gossiping with friends.
the lounger reclined at an angle, one leg bent and the other straight. loose shirt and swim shorts as your attire accessorized with sunglasses and a baseball cap to shade your face from the harsh sunlight as you read your book.
a high-pitched yell of your name drew your attention. tilting the book towards your chest you saw your neighbor lucas rushing your way. his running was put to a stop when a lifeguard blew their whistle and yelled no running. you saw a few other kids a little behind, three boys and two girls.
“going for a swim, sinclair?” eyes squinting behind your glasses.
he rolled his eyes and pointed towards his swim trunks, “duh. gonna spend the next few hours getting pruney. oh, also my mom wanted me to ask if you were free on the twelfth.”
one of the boys called his name and lucas told him he was coming before turning back to you. “uh, as of right now i’m an open book. does she need a babysitter?”
“yeah. my parents have a date planned so they need someone to watch us.”
you nodded your head, “well i’ll be happy to babysit. just have her call me when you get home. now go have some summer fun, your friends are getting antsy.” the tweens being all dramatic from their spots close by.
lucas waved goodbye before talking with his friends and then they all threw themselves into the chlorine-heavy pool. the two girls were a step behind with shrieks that carried until they were submerged.
you watched their playful fighting for a bit with a gentle smile on your lips. how lucas would dunk his friend with sopping curly hair underwater or the redhead would slap water at the byers kid. the other girl with shoulder-length hair was just walking around the shallow end with an enormous smile.
deciding to turn back to your book, your eyes took a sweep of the crowded pool and they managed to catch a lifeguard chair change. a girl in the uniform-issued red one-piece was climbing down from the high chair as a boy leaned a hand against the legs. the two chatted for a moment before the girl waved goodbye and the boy climbed the steps and settled into the seat.
and when he was in perfect view you were able to make out the person you were ogling. steve harrington. steve harrington, who was dressed in only red swim trunks as he watched over the community pool. now your book doesn't seem so interesting.
you held the book at a normal height and used the book and sunglasses as your undercover ruse as you observed (stared) at steve. how he seemed comfortable in the uncomfortable high chair, one hand fiddling with the whistle that was sitting on his chest as his head moved around to get a full view. his hair looked naturally fluffy and curled, oh man.
you and steve were in the same graduating class but only had a handful of classes together in the four years of high school, and in only two was there conversation. he was more outgoing and friendly with most of the school population, while you had one friend, robin buckley, who stuck to the shadows and books. and even though you hid in the shadows, that harrington charm always shined brightly no matter what. so yeah, you weren’t unaffected by him, you just made sure not to act like an idiot when he was around.
wishing you had the balls to walk up confidently and start an effortless conversation, you just groaned as you leaned your head back and laid the book on your sunscreen thighs. you don’t even know what he likes, not like you could chat about the weather for twenty minutes before it dies out. “so… this weather….” “yeah, pretty warm. brings everyone out of their houses.” that’s so stupid!
you know what, forget about it. push steve from your mind. push lovely steve harrington from your mind and focus back on your fantasy novel. you did set a goal of reading through the stacks of books you’ve bought over the months. you look through your bag and grab your wallet before pushing off the flimsy lounge chair and heading to the vending machine for a snack.
you look at the different selections of chips and press in c7, your second favorite chips dropping down. you pushed the flap open and managed to grab the goods without twisting your wrist. you looked to the concessions booth and debated if you wanted to pay three fifty for a slushy.
“hey.” you heard someone call but you didn’t think they were calling for you since it didn’t sound like any of the younger kids. head tilting side to side in a silent debate before it came again this time followed by your last name.
you felt like an idiot when you looked over your shoulders to find the source but couldn’t so you turned forward again, which caused the mystery person to say your name once again followed by, “it’s steve, dummy.”
that made you turn around real quick with your brows raised and hands sat on your hips, chip bag crinkling. “what’s with the nickname, mr. lifeguard? i’m a customer minding their business.” sarcasm hiding the curiosity of why steve was suddenly calling for you.
he was twisted in the high chair, one knee up and poking through the hole for the armrest with his arms folded on the top and his chin digging into his golden forearms. his sunglasses pushed to his hair showing his face off without obstruction, though his eyes were squinting against the beating sun. he had a smirk to his mouth and, oh your insides melted.
“i am so sorry to be disturbing,” the sarcasm twisted in his words, “but i was wondering if you’d be willing to buy me a cherry slushy. for a fellow mrs. fray senior english class student.”
lips parting in slight shock, “you…you remember me?” body language changing from defense to sheepish. you meant to say those words in your head only, not aloud where he could make fun of you.
his eyes unsquinted just a bit and you were able to see the smirk fall away and genuine confusion settle in. “why wouldn’t i? i sat next to you all year. and what a lovely view to get me through that boring class.” a flirtatious tone singing through the words.
now you are standing frozen. was he…flirting? was steve flirting with you? when you felt sweaty and didn’t look put together, baggy shirt and hair pushed under a baseball cap. there was no way, right?
“well…i do remember you staring a lot. just thought i was blocking the window view.” trying to flirt, swing and a miss in your head.
steve chuckled. deep and boyish over the volume of the occupants. “nah, view outside wasn’t worth my time.” a cheeky smirk and, oh yeah. he was flirting.
“anyway. would you still be willing to buy that cherry slushy for me? kinda dying of thirst and heat over here.” his body that wasn’t shaded by the umbrella was highlighted bright with the sun. mind traversing to the knowledge he might develop more freckles over his skin and how you wished to chart them like constellations in the night sky.
you looked to the booth and back to steve, working yourself up to try a hand at flirting again. you took four steps closer to the white chair, head tilted up while steve stared down. “would i get anything back in exchange? since, you know, i’m paying with my own money.” hoping he doesn’t say something that billy hargrove wolf whistles at.
steve smiled with his teeth biting into his bottom lip. his head moved just a bit to the side and his eyes squinting a bit harder, you were glad to see his whole face, but you wished to just slide his black sunglasses over his honey-brown eyes. he looked to be debating something for a moment and then he shifted around to climb to the hot cement floor. he stopped just in front of you, right side of his body leaning into the chip painted wood. he was messing around with his red whistle and your skin produced goosebumps from the way his eyes roamed over your face and trailed down your body then back up.
“well, a slushy is only three fifty, so what i’m gonna suggest is overpriced. but if you're willing to spare some change, i would be happy to take you…” he stopped for a moment, almost seeming nervous before he got his confidence back. “…to take you on a date. movie and dinner, all on me.”
you almost dropped your chips and wallet due to the words that left his mouth. “you’re…this is a joke right? some prank?” self-conscious defense going up.
steve pushed himself into an upright position, hands shaking in front of him with urgency on his face and in his words. “what? no, no! i- i genuinely want to- i’ve wanted to ask you for a while!” words rushed and grumbled.
you were shocked for the third time today. steve harrington wanted to take you on a date. and for a while. “really?” the voice is almost meek.
steve rubbed the back of his neck and you weren’t sure if that was sunburn or blush on his cheeks. “yeah…i know i seem…good at getting dates. but when it comes to someone i like…i can get tongue-tied.” fingers messing around with the back of his hair.
you couldn’t help the teasing smile, “oh…steve harrington gets flustered by his crushes? didn’t realize we reverted to middle school.”
he rolled his eyes, but he smiled anyway. “yeah, yeah. now for the third time, can you buy me a slushy? and would you like to go on a date with me? saturday at seven?”
there was a whistle and the call for steve to get back in his chair. he didn’t turn around or anything, he stayed trained on you with pleading eyes and a nervous smile. you didn’t bother keeping the boy waiting any longer, butterflies fluttering in your belly.
“i’ll get you that slushy. and then i’ll tell you my decision. so, best you get back to your job before you get fired.” taking steps backward then turning on the balls of your feet.
you felt his eye on your back the whole time as you ordered and waited for the drinks. with the two in hand along with your chips, you walked to steve already having your mind made up. you held his cherry slushy up high and he grabbed it with a “thank you.” his fingers brushing your knuckles.
“so, yes or no? hurts to keep a guy waiting.” a fake pout to his lips. you took a sip of your icy beverage and then counted to five. “what movie?”
“the goonies. heard from a birdie you’ve been waiting to see that one.” that just solidified your answer. “food before or after? and where?”
steve took his sip and then answered, “whichever and wherever you prefer.”
you tapped your flip-flop foot and took a few more sips. “seven works. benny’s before and then goonies. maybe milkshakes after. sounds good?”
he smiled down at you, teeth shining in the light and lips turning a bit red. “sounds perfect. can i have your address?”
you began to walk back to your lounge chair, calling over your shoulder, “use the phone book, harrington! very useful information.”

Slimeball line cook Dabi x fem!Reader 🦠
⇢ word count: roughly 1.8K
⇢ plot: sex on the beach
⇢ warnings: Minors DNI, line cook!Dabi has a lot of dumb pick-up lines up his greasy sleeves, smoking, drinking, unprotected sex, creampie
This is my submission for the Wet Hot Slimeball SUMMER BLOCK PARTY– hosted by @bastardblvd Pls don't take my shitty writing serious.
Tumblr media
It's a hot and humid summer night, the heat of the bonfire making it even worse, with the flames illuminating each sweat-drenched face of the present Grimetown residents.
Who's dumb idea was it anyway, to do this during the summer?
You wipe the salty droplets off your forehead, thinking that at least you can enjoy looking at the scantily dressed men present. It's been a while since you’ve done it with anyone in Grimetown, the latest hook-up with sex shop owner Gojo needing you to go on Plan B.
Nonetheless, you feel needy tonight, like a horny teenager. The heat between your thighs undeniable, you take a deep breath, your breasts almost busting out of your skimpy bikini top.
Popping open the can of "Tramp Stamp", Grimetown's signature beer, you lift it to your lips to take a generous sip. The instantaneous taste of sulfur and cooked cabbage spreads in your mouth, making you shudder and cringe.
What the–
Turning the can, your suspicion is confirmed when you see the expiration date. You sigh, taking another sip, ignoring the beer's foul taste. At least, it still makes you drunk; plus it's for free– courtesy of Landlord Sukuna.
Accompanied by the shouting and jokes of the Grimetown residents, you watch Naoya - fully dressed - stumbling uncoordinatedly along the shoreline, asking repeatedly in a slurred voice if someone has seen his pink bikini.
The wish for someone to rail your brains out outgrows you, and – as you take another sip of the beer – a certain dark-haired figure approaches.
"Give me that–" Toji stops just a few feet away and stares at your drink, his large, muscular figure towering above you. "I'll pay you in nature."
Looking him up and down, you notice the large swell in his pink bathing trunks. Despite the urge to hook up with him for the night, the horde of rats at his feet, staring at you with their soul-piercing eyes, makes you shudder involuntarily. Your gaze snaps up to his face, eyes locking with his vibrant green ones.
"No thanks. Go and get your own." You take another sip of the beer to punctuate your words.
His expression turns sour, the scar across his lips contorting when the corners of his mouth pull down.
"'You serious?" His eyes narrow at you.
"Yup." Shrugging your shoulders, you focus all of your attention back on the almost empty can of beer.
"Cheap skank," he mutters under his breath, before he turns to saunter in the direction of the fire, with the rats following, yelling, "Who do I have to fuck to get some beer around here?"
As the bonfire continues to roast you from the front, a movement catches your attention and you turn to look.
"What’s a nice girl like you doing in a dirty mind like mine?" You hear a raspy voice, so husky and deep that it instantly spreads a warmth between your legs.
Dabi, the cook at the local burger place "Cum n Eat", comes to a stop in front of you, a half-smoked cigarette hanging in the corner of his mouth. His hands are buried deep in his rainbow-colored swim trunks, lazy-lidded sapphire eyes gleaming down at you from above bright pink sunglasses.
"Oh for God's sake–" you grumble impatiently, "I already told Toji: go get your own fucking beer."
You roll your eyes and chug the remaining lukewarm dregs, feeling it burn down your esophagus.
"I don't want your beer." He eyes you up and down. "Nice bikini. Can I talk you out of it?"
You almost choke. Blinking at him once, twice, you try to determine whether he's serious or not. But Dabi just grins, stepping closer and propping his sunglasses on his head. The bitter, tart smell of old grease and cigarettes starts to envelop you, as your attention is drawn in by the growing swell in the front of his trunks. Instantly, you feel a surge of pleasure light up every cell in your body. Your throat bobs as you swallow, your mouth filling with saliva.
"Are you seriously pulling these lines on me?" Your eyes quickly flick up to meet his, trying to hide the fact that you're somehow turned on by his sleazy approach.
"If it works, it works." His eyebrows drift upwards, sly and smug, as his gaze drops down to your chest.
You notice with embarrassment how your nipples have pebbled up, their hard outlines visible through the thin fabric of your skimpy bikini top. You flinch and cross your arms over your chest, your cheeks starting to take on a pink hue.
"I think we both know what we want." Dabi looks at you a little more intense– hungrier.
You feel captivated by the striking aquamarine pools of his eyes and despite his grungy appearance, they have you imagining plenty of naughty things about him.
Fuck, you want to bang him. Badly.
"Ok, what do you have in mind?" You breathe, surprised at how needy you sound.
"Why don't I put you on my to-do list?" His tongue sneaks out, wetting his lips as he starts to stroke his cock over the fabric of his swim trunks, making it strain against his swim trunks.
"Well– better cross me off then." You reply and stand up, brushing the sand off your butt with your palms.
With a satisfied smirk, Dabi steps closer to wrap his fingers around your wrist, pulling you with him towards some protruding cliffs in the distance.
Finding a small recess, Dabi shoves you in and pins you against the coarse rock, your meaty tits squishing against the hard surface. Taking another drag of his cigarette, he trails his free hand down the curve of your ass and pulls your bikini bottom to the side to reveal your soaked, throbbing pussy.
"Damn girl," he chuckles as he blows out the smoke, "You're slicker than the floor of my burger place."
"Shut up," you pout, wiggling your buttcheeks, "and fuck me already."
"Can't say no to that, right?" Hooking his thumbs under the seams of his trunks, he pulls them down just enough to free his aching, pierced cock. It smacks against his abdomen before hanging heavy under its own weight, precum dripping off its tip.
Dabi sighs out another drag of his cigarette, eyes lazy-lidded, pumping himself a few times before aligning his eager cock with your aching pussy.
"I’m not a dentist, but I'm gonna give you a good filling." He growls betweed grittey teeth. Yet, you swallow back a snarky response, the teasing of his fat bulbous tip against the tight entrance of your pussy too distracting. Only a breathy moan escapes your lips, indicating how ready you are.
He dips down and the scent of cigarette smoke grows strong when his lips graze the rim of your ear. "Ready for this hot, fat Bratwurst?"
"For fuck's sake, Dabi–" you groan, "Cut it out already!"
He chuckles and takes another drag of his cigarette. Then he snaps his hips forward, plunging into you with one firm thrust, quickly stuffing you to the hilt. It tears a garbled cry from your throat as you collapse against the cold rock, your legs giving out as you struggle to accept him inside you.
"Fuck, your cunt's hotter than my cigarette." There's the barest hitch in his breath, his eyes glued to the sight of how your pussy is clenching around his girth.
He gives you hardly any time to accommodate before pulling back and forcing you to take his full length again. You bite your lips trying to suppress another strangled moan– but then he starts an even, savoring pace.
The slow drag back and forth of his cock suddenly turns into quicker, fuller thrusts when he loses what’s left of his patience. It's all that you need, the rough friction of his barbells against your spongy walls feeling too delicious, and you can sense your orgasm growing closer and closer.
“What a sight,” Dabi rasps, watching his cock disappear relentlessly into your sloppy wet cunt with stunned awe. His hips pick up speed, pushing in and out, faster and faster, your needy moans and his throaty grunts inaudible over the cacophony of laughing, drinking, and shouting of all the others down the beach.
"Fuck," you curse, your head rolling back as you gasp for air, feeling the rough friction with each swirl of his hips.
"How do you like your eggs in the morning? Fertilized?" Dabi pants, as you eagerly meet every frantic jolt of his hips, "Cause I'm gonna cum inside of you."
"Shut the fuck up–" you cry, cunt clenching around him, "Just make me cum!"
His hips start moving even faster and each plunge into your pussy sends his cock reaching impossibly deeper inside. The sound of his length squeezing into your tightening pussy grows louder and lewder.
"Shit—” his breathing turns heavy, his jaw drops open. The cigarette tips from his mouth and onto your panties, burning a hole into them before falling on the beach sand below.
"Don't stop," You plead, feeling your climax just around the corner, your mind starting to swim. "Just like that, just a little longer!"
A broken groan leaves his lips and you feel a stutter in his movements before he stalls completely. A wet heat starts to fill you up as his cock twitches inside you, pumping you full of his sticky cum.
"Dude, what the fuck?" You turn your head, your own climax denied, leaving you utterly unsatisfied.
"What?" Dabi's lips pull up into a cocky grin.
"I didn't cum!" You whine.
"Not my fault–" He tsks and withdraws from you with a lewd wet sound.
"You're a slimeball!" You yell, his cum dripping down your thighs onto the sand below,
"Never said I wasn't," he chuckles while tucking himself away.
Turning on the spot, Dabi saunters off towards the bonfire. Angrily, you watch after him, still trying to regain your bearings when he starts jogging before it becomes a sprint. A familiar dark figure, surrounded by a swarm of rats, is standing by his beach towel, reaching down to grab a vacant can of beer and you hear Dabi yell, “Toji, get the fuck away from that or I’ll put your pets on my menu!”

You should have done so many different things that day. For example, maybe wearing a life jacket or letting your boyfriend's brothers know that you couldn't swim very well.  You never wore life jackets, you usually didn't need them because there was no way in hell you would go into the water voluntarily. Not that you were scared but you had never been much of a swimmer and had had an accident in a swimming pool as a child that had left you with enough trauma to postpone swimming lessons indefinitely. Charles knew it and most of your friends knew it too so the only reason you would go in the water would be if you were shipwrecked. You had already been dating for a year but you had never been on a yacht with them before so Lorenzo and Arthur didn't know.
It was April, summer wasn't officially here yet but it seemed like a good day to go on a yacht. By noon the wind had picked up a bit but even so, you had put on a sweater and decided to go on deck with Arthur to play frisbee while Lorenzo and Charles were inside finishing their lunches. You accidentally threw the frisbee into the water for the fourth time on a road, Arthur went looking for it before but he let out a moan of complaint that time.
"It's the wind, I swear" You laughed before he ran towards you to chase you in circles. It wasn´t the wind, you were terrible at that game.
"Whoever throws it, looks for it" Arthur crooned and before you could tell him that you couldn't swim he picked you up intending to throw you into the water.
"Arthur! Wait-" You managed to yell before he pushed you into the water. You would like to say that you saw it coming but since you fell on your back you were not able to prepare for the impact either. You gasped when you felt the cold water hit you. It was Europe, it was summer but there was a slight wind so the water was definitely colder than you would like to take a dip. Opening your mouth when you were hitting the water was a bad idea because you swallowed salt water. You moved your legs and arms desperately trying to stay afloat, only your head was out of the water when you felt someone pulling you to get you afloat. You were small so your legs were kicking hard. You coughed a little at the movement, swallowing more salt water.
"(Y/N)! Are you ok?" You heard the desperate and anxious voice of Charles calling you.
You tried to nod slightly as you continued to cough but it came out more like a desperate nod so you just moved a bit more against Charles wrapping your arm around his neck. Charles wrapped an arm around you and you felt bad for him having to swim one arm back to the yacht. You promised yourself that you were going to learn to swim once and for all before you scared him to death.
When they reached the ladder you simply climbed up and started spitting water on your knees on the floor. Your lungs were on fire and you couldn't find fresh air, not only were you spitting up water but more water had entered your nose than you knew.
"Are you okay?" Someone asked you and you placed the voice as Lorenzo's and nodded slightly in response. In the background, you could hear Charles yelling in French. From the random words you could catch he was definitely yelling at Arthur and he wasn't happy with his brother. You wanted to say something, assure him that everything was fine, that you were fine, but you couldn't even think to say what you were thinking.
"Are you sure?" Lorenzo insisted and you nodded again before getting up from the ground. You felt how fresh and clean air re-entered your lungs.
"Yes, I'm just catching my breath" You replied weakly before giving him a lopsided smile. He handed you a towel. Your legs were shaking from the effort. "Thanks" You wrapped the towel around yourself before entering the yacht room and sitting on the couch.
"Stay away!" You heard Charles exclaim behind your back and you heard his footsteps entering the interior of the yacht. "I'm going to get you a change of clothes" He murmured without looking at you before going down the stairs of the yacht to go get your bag. Was he the one angry with you? You just sat there like a wet chick waiting for him to come back.
"I'm so sorry," Arthur said, approaching you like that and you automatically felt bad because of the sorrowful and anguished face he had.
"Arthur" You murmured letting out a cough "I'm not mad" His pained expression made you a little sorry so you wanted to reassure him "How could you know?" you shrugged
"I´m still sorry"
"It's ok" You gave him a reassuring smile before hearing Charles' footsteps coming up the stairs and Arthur's panicked expression before he disappeared back onto the deck.
Charles placed the bag next to you on the couch and began to take out your change of clothes even without looking up at you "Are you mad at me?" You asked him before taking your wet sweater off along with your bikini top and putting on a dry one. "I'm sorry" you added in a small almost inaudible whisper but the one next to you heard you clearly.
"I'm not mad" He answered before releasing a sigh.
"Then why aren't you looking at me?"
"Mad? No, I'm mad, I'm scared as shit that's different" He explained sitting next to you to hug you from the side "I don't think my heart can beat normal again at least for a while"
"Oh babe" You caressed his cheek "I'm sorry"
"It's not your fault" He whispered softly, resting his head on the top of your head and taking in the scent of your hair.
"Are you still not talking to Arthur?"
"I'm mad at him" He growled and you couldn't help but smile slightly despite everything.
"You know he didn't do it on purpose"
"What he did was stupid." Charles scooted you up onto his lap.
"You need to forgive him" You pointed
"He is my baby brother, I will eventually, just not today"
"I didn't know you could hold such a grudge," You told him in an attempt to lighten the mood.
"You have no idea the panic I felt when I ran out and saw you in the water" He whispered, brushing your cheek with his lips “And your scream was just-”
"I know" You promised yourself that you were going to book some swimming lessons on Monday if that would avoid having to panic him again "And I´m sorry" You muttered hiding your head in the crook of his neck "but I'm ok"
"I don't want to feel like that ever again" He replied stroking your hair and you simply wrapped your arm around his neck to stick closer to him if that was possible. At that moment you realized that Charles was still wearing his wet swimsuit and that he hadn't changed into it yet.
For a few minutes, a silence formed between you before Charles spoke again "You are always wearing life jackets from now on"
"No, I'm not" You moaned in complaint "I will look like a ridiculous little girl and Arthur didn't do it on purpose"
"No matter the intentions, you almost scared me to death" He responded by placing a kiss on your head.
"I'll learn to swim, I promise"
"You haven't for the last 24 years, why now?" Charles didn't want to be mean, he was just curious about your abrupt change of heart.
"Your panicked face when you pulled me out of the water" His desperate voice calling out your name still resounded in your ears "I don't want you to feel like that ever again" you added, repeating a little what he had said before.
"Good, my poor heart couldn't take it" He murmured against your neck and you let out a laugh.
"You are so dramatic" you rolled your eyes
Charles paused before murmuring against your skin, "Please don't scare me like that ever again?"
"I will try" You replied with the same tone.

Scary story about a river incident
This is going to be a scary and upsetting story, and talk about a male predator, so be warned if you’re not feeling up to these topics!
So the year is 2016, and I’ve just recently moved into the city, and discovered that if you walk very far into the fields outside, you will eventually reach a meeting place of two rivers, and witness gorgeous waterfalls. It took 40 minutes to walk there, so not a lot of people knew about this place or went there. Most of the times I would go, it was a private little field trip, and the water just before the waterfalls was incredibly deep and perfect for swimming.
I was there in the water one day in the late summer. It was getting late, but the sun was still reaching the last rays of light into the water, and I have found a neat little place on the other side of the river with sand, rocks and shells. I was having the time of my life diving under, finding pretty shells and rocks and stashing them for my treasured collection.
At some point, another person arrived to the river, from the same side as I did, but different access point. I wasn’t bothered by it, my things were hidden well, sometimes young people would come and play in the river, they usually never bothered me, so I disregarded this and kept playing with my shells.
I hadn’t realized it was a male person, and I haven’t realized that he took into the water and started swimming directly towards me, until he was already only a few feet away. He was old, but he was strong. He looked 60-ish, but his body was double my size. He was swimming fast. I was at that point, 26, but I looked younger. I had struggled to eat enough and I was underweight. I had nothing on this guy.
Before I could gather myself, he was reaching his arms around me; I was in a neat little corner with rocks behind me, and he was reaching one arm on the rock, and other around me, his goal was to trap me between the rocks and his body. I didn’t have more than a second to realize what’s going on, and guided by instinct, I dove underwater before he was able to trap me, and swam to the direction of my access point, at the other side of the river.
At that point I was practicing swimming, and I was fast, but he could probably outswim me. He hadn’t tried though. I think he was in a bit of a shock that I ran away so immediately, and he couldn’t see where I went because I kept underwater for as long as I could. When i was already halfway to the shore,my head visible, he yelled after me: “I WAS JUST TRYING TO ASK HOW THIS WATERFALL LOOKED BEFORE THE WAR!!!”
I was absolutely outraged he would, after sending me running with intense predatory behaviour, still try to play it off as ‘you’re rude for assuming, I was attempting to engage in polite conversation here’, so I screamed back: “I. WASN’T. ALIVE BACK THEN!”
That should make it clear I’m not falling for his blatant gaslighting and point out how insanely inappropriate he is, I thought. But the truth was, I was traumatized to the point where I didn’t feel safe ignoring someone yelling at me. I swam to my stuff, and at that point, he was still at the same place he attacked me, so I thought, okay, he knows now I don’t want him anywhere close and that he’s being inappropriate, he’s on the other side of the river, he can’t approach me fast, I should be safe. So I sat down. I was wrong. He saw me sit, and started swimming towards me.
I was, once again, appalled. But also scared. I grabbed my stuff and without pausing to dress, started running away. He again yelled after me in another attempt ‘MAYBE YOUR PARENTS KNOW’ and I shouted back running ‘THEN ASK THEM!!!’ as if it was not absolutely insane that I was being talked down to while running away from a predator.
It was then I realized how unsafe it was to be 40 minutes away from civilization, while alone with a predator, next to a river. I needed to get back to the city fast, where this guy wouldn’t be able to openly chase me without anyone seeing it. I ran thru a grassy field, feeling uncomfortable, but sure that this would completely save me, because he was still swimming, and I was sure I could run very fast, and there’s no way he would still try to go after me after I escaped him twice.
Then, the unthinkable happened. He got into his car and chased me with a vehicle.
I didn’t even notice he had a car on his access point. I had only realized it when the car lights appeared on the trail behind me. It was twilight, and the night was falling fast. I was uncomfortably visible on the grass field, and I ran as fast as I could, because, I knew after this field, there was a turn, and I’d be invisible for a bit, and the turn led around a corn field, and corn field was a place I could hide in.
I ran into the corn field absolutely terrified, made sure I was out of sight and hidden, crouched down so I would be completely invisible, and then stayed still. Waiting. His car lit the road, and I could see him going, he passed me, and he reached the middle of the field, and then, he stopped. He must have realized that he should have already ran into me, and since he didn’t, he knew I was behind him. I didn’t see if he got out of the car. I didn’t move. I knew if I made a sound, if he saw some corn move, I’d be located instantly. I crouched and waited.
I couldn’t tell you for how long that car was standing there. Probably 5-10 minutes. You can imagine it felt longer to a woman hiding in a corn field. But, I wasn’t found. And eventually, the car started moving again. It went away. I didn’t move. I stayed where I was, for I don’t remember how long. I needed to be sure. Once I peeked out to the road, I looked for any sign of light. It wasn’t there. I tentatively walked to the edge of the field, where I could see more of the road. Nothing. It was all empty. There was nobody there anymore. I was safe.
You’d imagine I went home that night feeling shaken, scared, anxious and upset, but you’d be wrong. I was beside myself with joy. This was my first time, ever, that I was chased by a violent man attempting to harm me, and got away! I was at that point, victimized by 20+ years of violence behind closed doors, and I would never, never manage to get away from it, regardless of running, because the predator was a family member, and convinced me that he had a claim on abusing me, but this? It was a predator in nature, and the nature was my turf, I knew how to get around there, and my instincts had served me so well, and I listened to them properly, and just because I was so quick to get away, the predator was stumped enough to not be able to catch me! I was then, sure that alone in the wild, I was untouchable, invincible, safe from any harm. Ah, to be young and fearless.
In retrospect, I’m now getting cold chills realizing how close I was form being a corpse in the river. The corn field was the only thing that saved me. if it had been any other time of the year, and the corn wasn’t as tall and as perfect of a hiding place, I’d have been painfully visible on those fields. I would have had to attempt to hide in the grass.
Of course, 26yo me came back to the waterfalls a week later, convinced it was a ‘one-time-predator-thing’ and luckily I never again ran into that guy, I did have another close call with another dude, but it was less scary, with less running involved. I still do visit the waterfalls but less often, as I found swimming places that are closer by. This was, by far, my most dangerous encounter with a predator, tho I had about 5 more happen thru my life, and successfully got away from them all. The danger of violence towards women in public is generally much more rare because m*n usually go for women they feel they have the claim to, and who can’t get away, like daughters, wives, cousins, sisters, mothers. That kind of abuse is almost certain to get them no consequences. If they go after a woman they don’t know, it is possible a male family member would come after them, for attacking what they believe is theirs, so it’s a bit more of a risky bet. Except, of course, if you’re 40 minutes away from a living soul and next to a river, then the rules change a bit.
My perspective was that because this was a stranger, I was free to run, where as in my family, running was sure to be punished with worse violence, and I was conditioned not to even attempt it. So even just running away, scary as it was, felt freeing for me. I didn’t have any pride left so jumping into ‘prey animal’ mode to protect myself from abuse was just, a situation that would come up sometimes. I didn’t yet think of it as a proof that I’m not living in a humane society, and that obviously I wasn’t equal to half of it, for they would always be a predatory threat to me.
It strikes me still how much this predator aimed at my socialization to stop me from running, trying to talk me out of my instincts, implying I was rude for assuming anything, trying to shame me for running, while he also blatantly chased me with his car. I hope this can serve as a sign to never try to be polite or allow innocent assumptions for a male whose actions make you uncomfortable or threatened. I’d have been better not to reply, as it only gave him incentive to try to talk more, but alas, one cannot be perfect.
If you’re all worried about me, just remember I will be okay with my nature adventures and everything else risky I do, once I live in separatist space, away and protected, wielding the nature barriers between me and the males, safe from all predatory harm.

Astrology Observations!!!
Musicians with water in their chart who make love songs , s3x vibes, or just songs for emotions specifically sadness hit different , and hit deep!!! Ex: Drake, Rhianna, Olivia Rodrigo, SZA, Doja cat ( scorpio venus ), the weeknd ( scorpio moon ), Billie Eilish ( pisces moon ), Ariana Grande , Selena Gomez ( I know more so of her old music like the heart wants what it wants, etc. ), Ari Lennox ( Cancer asc, moon at scorpio degree, mercury pisces degree), < i think it’s estimated. Summer walker ( Cancer asc) < i think one website says sag asc the other says cancer you get it though . Michael Jackson, Pisces moon Pisces ASC.
Musicians with air in their chart have such HUGE influence in the music community and in the public eye. Ex: Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, Biggie, Tupac, Snoop Dog, The Weeknd, Doja Cat, Olivia Rodrigo ( libra moon ), Nicki Minaj ( aquarius asc ), etc. Even besides music air signs just are so known and receive SO much attention to the point where it would be kinda shocking if someone DIDN’T know who they are. like Kim K for example, Marilyn Monroe, etc. Air sign energy makes IMPACT 👏👏👏
Taurus moons tend to hold back on what they wanna say, find more comfort speaking up on their needs & wants if someone else already announced they have the same needs & wants. Some of chillest people I’ve came across. Their moon is also in my 1H. Can be pretty introverted and to themselves , the types to not show out & show off for attention , also may have trouble being direct & assertive. can come off super introverted and to themselves , sometimes may even come off secretive or mysterious cause of how closed off they are. The type you just wanna ask questions to, to find more about. What’s the truth type of question. 🤣 They hold water about themselves and it’s not easy for them to crack !!! They mask emotions well too.
MUTABLE moons and their laughs , pisces stands out the most to me. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Pisces mercurys can say the most random stuff during conversation , we can be talking about clothes then a couple seconds later “ Do you think dinosaurs even EXISTED? “ Funny ash though to see how our minds process things, can say random outbursts too, random noises, say something completely off topic. The fishy’s mind IS SWIMMING 😚😚💜
Taurus venus have really gorgeous voices and don’t like to yell a lot. I haven’t met a taurus venus who screams like a maniac. In arguments their voices probably have little to no hostility in it , or anger. Check mars sign too. Anyone I know with a taurus venus has a fire mars but they really don’t be loud. It’s very interesting 🧡🧡
Why are Gemini ASC , placements, either so nosy, messy, or they can’t hold their tongue back & gotta keep it real. Which i’m not surprised because mercury is the planet of messages & communication. Gemini/ mercury energy can get a bit messy & gossipy. Mercury is the planet of talk talk talk. It is pretty stereotypical but literally every gemini placement i’ve met INSTIGATES in arguments, or is like “ oooooou “ , it’s SOMETHING WITH THEM 🤣🤣🤣 whether it’s in public or in private but one thing about my good gemini placements is they ready to get down when it’s TIME. 🤣
Libra risings are so tall and slim. Especially with their sun being an earth sign.
Scorpio Venus and their seductive , HEAVILY sensual, “ I’m the best & everyone wants to kiss me “ music. Embracing that wild sexy feminine energy. Ex: Doja Cat, Nelly Furtado.
Aquarius moons just need a hug deep down, they probably will never admit it cause the way they just neutrally mask their emotions but trust they got a lot going on inside & can use work to distract themselves or to feel more productive.
Y’all !!! Watch out for the people who’s sun falls into your 7th, 12H!!!! Seriously, people don’t be lying when they say they the ones who be talking or plotting. Be safe & be AWARE ☺️
Scorpio placements and their tolerance to physical pain.
Scorpio energy & Psychology JUST GO ALONG.
Leo risings in whole sign have cancer in their 12H, these folks probably deal with their emotions and family issues on their own. Too complex or messy to talk about with just anyone sometimes .
Dear water venus <3 ( PISCES VENUS 111% ) please stop making false situations in your head I know you admire them and love them but sometimes always seeing the best in people only sabotages you. Yes, they have potential but where are they at NOW. In real life, in reality what’s the situation , stop convincing yourself other wise bby. ❤️
Squared Mercurys in synastry during arguments are so stubborn. Can end up going DAYS without talking after the argument from tension & the heat still being turnt up.
Practice embodying your solar return chart placements , i have an aquarius stellium and aquarius ASC and since practicing embodying the traits of aquarius since it’s super significant to me , i’ve been gaining tons of followings and views/likes on my social media platforms. Plus for me practicing the energy of the cosmos aligns me more with the universe , with my natal , solar return & persona.
Sun in the 12H can be confused about their personality , aesthetic , and being in stable in their “ presentation “ of themselves . Get told “ You don’t act like you’re a * enter sun sign * “. Sometimes these folks don’t feel like their sun sign either and resonate more with something else in their chart, or even don’t feel like ANYTHING 🤣🤣🤣 This doesn’t mean they’ll never feel stable in their identity but this is something they could struggle with in life at som point.
6H can show our animals , how our animals are with us, our bonds with our animals, and how people view our animals .
Detriment / Fall placements aren’t tragedy, domicile / Exalt placements aren’t heaven. 🤣
If you don’t feel like your natal chart, check your persona chart !!! I’m a Leo stellium in persona chart and everything in my persona resonates with me. I am a pisces stellium natal so that could be another reason why EVERYTHING resonates with me , feeling the emotions , and shapeshifting internally. Pisces isn’t just water BABY PISCES MUTABLE ALSAAKKAKA.
Wanna know someone’s Venus sign? Observe the colors that look really good on them or that they often wear. Mutable Venus may be a bit more harder to pinpoint. Also may cause confusion on the persons sun sign.
Venus/2H/7H can show the tattoo style someone likes. Or the placement/ body part. of the tattoo I’m a Scorpio 7H and I used to be attracted to crow tattoos, very dark , symbolic tattoos that have a story behind it. My moms a Sag 7H and has traveled good distances for her tattoos. My brothers a taurus venus and has a throat tattoo, taurus rules tongue, tonsils etc. My other brothers a Leo Venus and has a tattoo on his upper back of his zodiac sign, something that has to do with himself. 🤣
11H can show the genre of movies someone likes to watch. Check degree too, and whole sign. Or how they are when watching a movie, the scenes that stand out to them or make impact to them.
Gemini mars energy is very raw when they are irritated. Even when we’re quiet , our faces , tone our whole EXPRESSION shows. Get stimulated by hand activities , ( may apply to other air mars too ) cross word puzzles , video games, games that have to do with hand & eye in union. Check degree & house too.
Tumblr media
Thank you for reading my loves !!! Feedback & constructive criticism is welcomed ! Please don’t be a d!ck. ❤️❤️❤️

Here's what I've written so far for the role swap abstinence camp one-shot I'm currently working on (I had to check on the spelling of rumour like 5 times I thought I was gonna go crazy with the spelling) @24-guy
Some things may change like I wanna have someone at the camp that spread the rumor that Richie sleeps around (kinda like what happened with steph and Grace)
Richie yawns as he wakes up the morning after a party he went to after his swim team won a meet they have been preparing for the last two months. He rubs his eyes as he walks downstairs, once he's in the kitchen he sees his dad "Oh...morning dad..." he says getting some Orange juice out of the fridge and drinking it straight from the carton. His father Gary sighs "Richie...we are proud of you for winning that little swimming thing but...there is a rumour that you have been....sleeping around. Now I'm not judging you at all I-" Richie sighs "Dad those rumours aren't true! I only went to a party last night to celebrate I...maybe drank a bit but not enough to sleep with anyone!"
Gary nods "I understand that son but... I'm still sending you to my brother's camp just until the rumours die down... I'm a lawyer do you know what could happen to my line of work if this rumour spreads more?" Richie rolls his eyes "Fine i- wait no Dad you don't mean I'm going to that weird ass fucking camp Uncle Jerry runs right!? Dad! Please don't send me there! Send me somewhere else anywhere else please!" Gary just pats his son's shoulder "....go get ready I already packed a duffle bag for you..." and with that, Gary walks back to his home office.
Richie slams down the carton he was drinking from and walks to his room yelling "This sucks!" Knowing he can't do anything about it he gets dressed and grabs the duffle bag putting an extra inhaler in it just in case he needed it. His dad texts him that he's outside waiting in the car to drive him to camp, Richie rolls his eyes and walked downstairs, getting into the car "This summer is going to suck Dad! I should be hanging out with my friends!" Gary just sighs as they leave the gated community that they lived in. Choosing its best to be quiet and let his son rant.
Meanwhile, a beat-up-looking truck was driving to the same camp the driver inside was Dylan Jagerman a man in his early 40s he was dropping off his son Max a nerdy-looking teenager. He had on a blue-knitted jumper and black-rimmed glasses "D-dad why do I have to go here... I'm going to miss the newest Star Trek episode..." his dad rolled his eyes "Son it's just for a few weeks you'll see your nerd shit again soon enough" Max's dad stops the car and turns to his son "okay were here..now get out and enjoy yourself maybe find a girlfriend so you'll stop being a nerdy loser" Max sighs and gets out of the car watching his dad drive away "....this summer is going to suck..." he sighs and starts walking towards the camps entrance.

Les Amis & Co: Beach Day Edition
Because it's summer and I had to
Enjolras:
My guy, he's so pale he needs an entire bottle of sunscreen to not get sunburnt. And he really doesn't care, everyone is after his ass holding the sunscreen, trying to 'at least cover his back because he'll be looking like a blonde strawberry by the end of the day'. Brings only a towel and his wallet or sth. Wears his swimsuit, flip flops and a t-shirt.
Combeferre
The dad of the group. Makes sure everyone has sunscreen on amd everything they need and you can hear him yelling "DON'T FORGET YOUR HATS" every hour or so. With every opportunity he gets, he's dropping random facts about the sand, the sea, the random crab grantaire just found etc etc. 80% of the time he's reading a book in his lil beach recliner chair. Brings an entire backpack filled with everything anyone could possibly need at the beach. Same kinda outfit w enj's, just with sneakers (bc he's driving everyone there) + a nice hat
Courfeyrac
He cannot put his ass down. Homeboy is always hyping someone up to play games. Beach rackets, volleyball, whatever. He and Gavroche sre having a BLAST. Nags to Combeferre about having to wear his hat the entire time. Brings a small bag w his stuff + another one filled with beach balls, rackets etc. Swimsuit + unbuttoned Hawaiian shirt and a funky bucket hat
Grantaire
Vibes around drinking beer. The type of friend to splash water on everyone while they're trying to get into the water (particularly Enjolras). Goes looking for random shit on the rocks. Brings a fanny pack for his phone and cigarettes. Towel?? Don't know her. Shows up only in a swimsuit and at some points, he takes it off for shits and giggles
Bahorel
Have you ever been to the beach near a cliff side and there's this one mf who climbs on top of the cliff to perform an epic 11 meter backflip into the water? Yeah that's Bahorel. Bitch just goes around looking for ways to possibly get hurt. He doesn't. Deffo has a paddle board. Gets a crazy ass tan. Brings only the bag for the board and puts the rest of his stuff in there. Wears one of these shitty low armpit shirts. And a 'women want me fish fear me' baseball cap
Feuilly
He be taking beach day seriously. Brings snacks for everyone, randomly pulls out a sketchbook at some point. Gets excited over cool rocks and spends more time than necessary on making a sandcastle. Cannot go into the water on his own, at least one of his friends have to be swimming as well. His back is red asf at the end of the day. Hawaiian shirt but buttoned up. Carries an extra tiny bag for his book and sketchbook.
Bossuet
Somehow, he'll find a way to get stung by a jellyfish (and grantaire will almost immediately offer to pee on him). If not, he steps on a sea urchin. Or gets his leg scratched on a rock. But still he manages to have fun. In charge of the aux chord. Is extremely annoyed by grantaire and his splashes. A standard bag, has a t-shirt on but it obviously falls into the water by accident so he has to be shirtless on the way home (Musichetta and Joly don't mind at all). Lost his hat :(
Joly
Speaking of joly, mf's crazy over sunscreen. At least 3 times a day, they apply a new coat, hydrate every 10 minutes and will not let ANYONE go into the water if they've eaten anything, not after at least 2 hours pass by. Pull up wearing a speedo, jorts and a short sleeved button up. Amd a big ass hat. Huge af beach bag.
Jehan
It's their time to shine. They spend most of the time posing for pics but at the same time they're kinda shy abt it. Went into the water like once. One of these 'beach please bags'. They're wearing a flowy summer dress and like swimming shorts and a bikini top kinda thing. Staw hat person
Marius
He's dying inside. Bro's under the umbrella, watching everything, hoping time will eventually come for them to go home. Courf tries to get him into the water and he succeeds. Unfortunately, les amis do not let him go, they force him to be a part of the summer fun and at some point, he starts enjoying himself. Gets sunburnt. Bro shows up in jorts snd a polo t-shirt and changes into his swimsuit there (also he's definitely one of those guys who keep their underwear underneath). Unironically wears a fedora hat. Carries 26383 bags + Cosette's bc he's a gentleman above everything.
Cosette
Photographer of the group. Takes pictures of everything and everyone. Also takes videos of the stupid shit grantaire does and makes sure they o over to the gc immediately. Provides everyone with data, she's the hotspot friend. Jehan is her main model. Tries getting a tan, fails. Short flower dress over her black bikini and sandals. Matching straw hats w jehan.
Eponine
Omg sis has 2 siblings to take care of. Runs after Gavroche and Azelma all the time to keep them from doing stupid shit. She and bahorel do swimming competitions. Has like a big ass water bottle (joly approved) because she always gets dehydrated. And Gab and Azelma never drink water, ever. Doesn't go for a tan, still gets a great one. Old crusty bikini and just jean shorts over it. She'd like to go topless but isn't all for it yet. Has to carry her siblings stuff as well.
Musichetta
Ok sis is a great swimmer. She's in the water 24/7 vibin, swimming, playing games. No-one can get her out of there. She doesn't really eat much but if. There's any juice, she is drinking it all up. She loves her beach juice time okay? One piece swimsuit and a see-through coverup tied around her waist. Just a small beach bag is okay for her
Gavroche
As soon as they arrive, lil bro's in the water playing already. Then he pulls out water guns and declares war on everyone. Annoying little shit, but they all love him so much. Courf keeps him occupied by playing with him all the time. No one complains. Eats all of Feuilly's snacks. Begs Eponine to let him do stupid shit with bahorel. She does NOT give in, so he just finds a small rock to jump off of into the water nearby. Creeper swimsuit.
Azelma
Quieter than her brother but she follows along. Hellps Feuilly w his castle. Keeps Marius company when she's not in the water. Cosette asked her if she wanted her pics taken and she was ECSTATIC. Flowy dress and a flower pattern one piece underneath.
Bonus Montparnasse:
Floatie guy. Bro has like an inflatable donut and once it's in the water, he's off. Falls asleep on it and someone was to swim like a mile away to bring him back. Brings very few stuff with him. Like grantaire, just a swimsuit is fine

Flirty drunk
L» Pairing: Ben Gross x female reader
Rating: Fluff / flirty drunk/ enemies to lovers
Summary: Lorelai Colombo, 17 years old. She returns to L.A. for her junior year of high school after spending a frivolous summer that everyone knows about. One night she goes to Trent’s party with her friend Devi, she gets drunk…
Taylor Swift is her narrator<3
(this is a chapter form my wattpad fanfic "The story of us", here if you want to read it)
English is not my first language!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lorelai changed her clothes in hurry before going out
Taylor: "'Escape' come on she literally got out from the window"
She wore a mini white skirt, a simple tank top and some boots. A simple outfit but she felt like herself in it and her makeup is basically the same she was going to wear that night she just added glitter on the eyeshadow.
"Oh, hey what are you doing here?" Trent says opening the door "Did you forget your calculator or something?" he adds
"Did you forget your calculator to something?" he adds, almost as shocked by her presence
"Hi!" Lorelai gives him a little smile waving her hand
"Ohi, you're here too! Lorelai came!" Trent literally yells to someone inside
Funny how three months ago they didn't even consider her.
"Whoa! You came" Paxton peeks out "And you brought California Brittle. This slaps, come in" he adds taking the chocolates. In fact, her mom would never let her show up in someone else's house without something to offer.
Trent's house is a simple American house, but there was an industrial amount of bottles of alcohol everywhere. Lorelai can swear to have seen in that house people never met at school, someone is drinking, others are smoking, others just dance or chat.
Not even the time to get in, that everyone is staring to the girl walking through the front door, certainly Trent didn't help with that.
But who can blame them, Lorelai is beautiful. The clothes are perfectly wrapped around her body and her wavy hair left loose sways around her shoulders as she moves around the room.
"Do you want a drink?" Paxton asks them leading the way
"Oh i need it" Lorelai replies
"Oh yeah beer me. Love that bread soda" Devi says taking a glass in her hands
"Are you already drunk?" Rory the shocked question Rory swallowing the first shot
"No, but that's my purpose for the end of the night"
"I definitely agree with you."
"You're not having one?" Devi asks Paxton that, as a good boy he is, takes a bottle of water
"No. I can't during swim season. You gotta keep the body right, you know."
"Yeah, totally. If i had your body i'd treat it right too."
"Oh my god" Lorelai takes her friend by the arm and drags her away from that awkward situation "We have to perfection your flirting skills, Devi."
"What did i say wrong?"
˚ ༘✶ ⋆。˚ ⁀➷
Taylor: "Well it didn't take long, apparently Lorelai achieved her goal before Devi because I don't think it's normal to dance like that... no definitely drunk."
"'Sup people! Who wants some 'za?" Ben starts by suddenly entering with a stupid smile on his lips
"Ugh i wish he brought tacos..." Lorelai hears someone saying
"Oh my god, Ben! You brought pizza, i'm so hungry i love you" Rory drags herself towards him slurring her words
"What had gotten into her?"
"Oh well i'll leave her to you. Apparently she tolerates you when she's drunk. Oh wait should i get you a getorade? You seem real thirsty"
Ben scoffs "What are you too doing here?"
"Getting drunk." Rory says not even bothering to consider lying while sitting next to someone on the couch.
That day had been long and your mom never seemed to make it easier, so she wanted a few drinks to feel better.
"Yeah i see that" the boy replies checking her out "Shouldn't you be counting your friends on three fingers?"
"Uh you're the one to talk. How you're even here? These people don't like you." Devi says like it was obvious.
Taylor: "Because it's actually true"
"Yeah, they do. Hey what's up, Trent?" Ben tries to hive five gets brutally ignored "Whatever."
"Devi! Zoe is talking to Paxton" Lorelai points out and Devi immediately swallows half a beer
"Well..." Ben trails off taking one for him and sitting next to Rory "So..." he clears his voice "thank you for helping with that history project by the way"
The girl next to him gives him a little smile and and she is about to drink another shot
"Ehy easy there" Ben takes her glass away "take this" instead offers her a bottle of water but she doesn't bother to drink it
Suddenly she feels a liquid falling on her shirt.
"Ah i'm soo sorry!" it's Zoe who just spilled her drink on Lorelai "Was that marked Chanel?" she asks grinning into her face
Rory stands up and almost slips "Cazzo! That fucking bitch!" but Zoe was already gone
"Hey." Ben stops her "Forget it, it's not worth it." but her face still angered "Come here let's vet you cleaned up" Rory's face softens, it's Zoe what else could she expect...
˚ ༘✶ ⋆。˚ ⁀➷
"How could she do that! Like...what have i done to her? Ben...are you listening?"
The music makes the floor vibrate as they meander around the hose.
"If you don't shut up right now i'll...i'll call your mother" Ben points her finger at her annoyed after finally finding the bathroom.
"God not her. Oh my..." she trails off watching him casually taking off his sweatshirt. Fortunately he had a t-shirt under it.
"Yeah you wish. Here take this" he offers Rory his sweatshirt
"Thank you" Lorelai thanks him offering him a warm smile "umh can you?"
"Oh-oh yeah sure. I mean obviously" Ben immediately turns around so Lorelai can get changed freely
"I'll give it back to you at school" she turns around, the sweatshirt a bit big for her
"No problem, you can take it"
"Why are you suddenly so..." Rory turns her whole body so now she can face Ben
"So- what?"
"so pretty! you've got such a good 'nd nice smile." she smiles at him widely, studying carefully the boy's face as if it was the first time she saw him
Taylor: "Yeah still drunk"
"Umh..." Ben couldn't help it and Rory is too drunk to notice the blush creeping on the boy's cheeks and ears "Have your eyes always been so...blue?"
"Yeah? I- i think so" Lorelai was flushed from the alcohol and her big brown eyes were the only two things Ben could focus on at the moment
Taylor: "Soo Rory is actually flirty drunk! This is getting interesting"
"Holy shit! There's a coyote on the lawn!" some weird guy yells
Taylor: "Oh come on!"

The second I woke up in the morning, all I could think about was Mitsuya and that I was actually going on a real date with him!
Spent what felt like forever trying to find the right outfit, but curiosity paused that when I got a text around noon, him saying:
[Hey, I’ll be over in an hour or so! Also, pack some swim gear]
Swim gear? That made me even more nervous, but I had a simple one piece and wore it under my clothes. It was either the beach or public pool we were going to, not minding either because I loved to swim.
Exactly an hour passed when I heard his motorcycle outside, skipping out of the house and over to him with a smile:
“Hey you!”
“Hey!” He smiled back, holding out a helmet for me, “Hop on!”
I tighten my backpack before taking the helmet and hopping on behind him, arms wrapping around his waist:
“Where are we going that we need swim stuff?”
“Your favorite place!” He smiled back at me, taking off on his bike and as we drove through town, noticing that we were heading to the beach, I couldn’t stop smiling.
Just the salt smell of the ocean water made me so happy. It’s was my first time going to the beach this summer and being with Mitsuya? I knew it was going to be fun.
After he parked his bike and got our things, the first thing we did was find a spot near the shore to place out our towels.
Feeling eyes on me while revealing my swimsuit, my eyes couldn’t help but glance at his shirt coming off, growing hot in the cheeks, not paying attention when he yelled out:
“I’ll beat you to the water!”
He took off running and laughing, having me chase him:
“Hey! You got a head start!”
I could tell he only did it to tease me and it was funny. Because of his head start, he was already in the water, yelling back:
“I did no such thing!”
At the same time, he splashed me and the water was cold, making me jump and squeal, but also getting revenge:
“I see how it is!”
I splashed him right back and we got so lost being goofy, splashing, pushing each other into waves. I don’t think this day could’ve been anymore perfect.
We jumped some waves, walked along the shore finding cool sea shells, built sandcastles. There wasn’t a single second where there wasn’t a smile on my face.
Although, it was a warm day outside and while trying to cool down with some water I packed with me, I spotted a shaved ice stand by the boardwalk.
Mitsuya read me well, noticing what my eyes were locked on, “Thinking what I’m thinking?”
“Oh yeah,” I smiled, not needing to say anything more, taking his hand and running off to the board walk.
Something about his hand in mine felt so right, his smile so handsome and precious, making mine even brighter.
This shaved ice stand had a lot of options! It took me a moment to decide but just watching and receiving our little cups with spoons., I knew it’d be refreshing.
“You got dragonfruit right?” Mitsuya looked to mine curiously, us walking to find an empty bench to sit on, nodding as I took a scoop, then got a spoonful for him:
“And it’s so good! Give it a try!”
While going to feed him the small scoop, someone bumped right into me, intentionally knocking my cup of shaved ice to the ground.
“Watch where the hell you’re walking!”
Looking up, these two guys looked familiar, I just couldn’t put my finger on it, till I remembered the movies yesterday. They were with that creep in my class!
“How about you watch where you’re walking?” I growled back, knowing they did that on purpose. “You had to slap my dessert out of my hand too?!”
I was so sick of these guys, unable to control the brief anger I was feeling, but Mitsuya handed me his cup, stepping in front of me, “Don’t worry, babe. You can have mine.”
“Oh yeah, we heard how you treated our friend. But I guess sluts start early, huh?” They sure thought they were funny and my jaw literally dropped at their words, but dropped even more, when Mitsuya punched him in the mouth, grabbing his tank top and growling at him:
“Call her a slut again. Come on, big guy.”
It wasn’t like Mitsuya to start a fight, so that alone blew me away, let alone the looks on their faces. They were scared and just that one punch showed they were no match for him.
“That’s what I thought,” Getting no response, he shoved that guy away and they proved that they were just punks, running off.
“I’m sorry that you had to see that.”
When Mitsuya turned back to me, I was still in shock. Just staring and he began to feel guilty:
“Of course those guys had to come along and ruin our date. Hearing him call you that just made me so angry-“
“Who said our date was ruined?” I began to smile, saying softly, “Thank you. No one’s ever stood up for me like before.”
“You don’t have to thank me-“ He smiled back and I was so happy that I sat our cup down, and gave him the biggest hug.
“If anything, that just made my whole day,” I giggled, making sure there was no guilt left within him and it was surely gone, taking the cup and finally getting to sit:
“And since they ruined yours, you can have all mine,” He smiled, feeding me a spoonful, “It’s called tigers blood.”
I think his was better than mine, awing at the interesting, but sweet taste, smiling when I finished, “I actually like that more than the dragonfruit. Thanks babe.”
Seeing him being the one a little blushy this time made me giggle more, but I asked just to be sure:
“You don’t mind if I call you babe, right?”
“Why would I mind my girl calling me babe?”
I thought when those guys showed up our date was going to take a turn for the worst, but it got so much better.
Even the sun didn’t fill me with as much warmth as he did when he leaned to me, kissing me softly. It felt like I was filled with sunlight, lightweight and ready to drift into the clouds.
Naturally, I scooted closer while kissing back, feeling beyond happy when he held my hand, our lips parting and neither one of us unable to stop smiling.
“You’re the best, Mitsuya. You know that?” I just needed him to know that, how me made my world so bright unlike anyone else, knowing that now, we were official.
“No,” He played back, booping his nose with a soft kiss, “You are.”

Whew..okay.,calm down..maybe it's a joke...Sam jokes alot so it has to be!
"Ahah..haha..hah.. g-good one Sam " you laughed, trying to make it seem like you weren't about to cry.
"What?..what do you mean 'good one's? nothing about this is good y/n!" "Okay! I'm sorry..I thought you were joking.."
Well shit.
"Okay..well?" "I- I'm sorry I have to pack." -beep!-
...
Well this isn't how you thought your summer would start.
Okay well! Time to go search for a job!!..again
You started walking towards the old lady who had always had you help with her cats, you were glad to help, but today was payday! Of 20 dollars but- you could get some food with that!
"Hello Candice! How are the kitties?" The old lady turned around to see you and smiled "oh hello lovey! Goodness you're getting tall heheh, we-well here's your 20 dollars dearie" she handed it to you and before you walked away "buy yourself something to eat sugar!"
"I will think you miss Candi-" and then you bumped into someone
"Shit sorry! My bad" you help the old man up and grab his weird looking cane..
"No no child forgive me, I was just looking at the kittens, you must be working here is that it?" He spoke with a harsh voice, refering to the old lady's shop.
"Oh no! Im just a helper, that's all"
"Helper?..yes..you will do good child"..ew.
"Yeah..aheh.. I gotta go sorry about the bump sir!" You speed walked away and could feel his eyes staring at you from afar.
You end up at some fish shop and see a help wanted poster in the window
"Nice!" You whisper to yourself as you walk in
"Hello there!" Said a woman from behind the counter on the right "be right with you"
You stand there and see all the little fishies swimming about
"Okay love what can i help you with?" "Oh I'm here for the help wanted?"
Her eyes lit up, must be hard working in a fish shop alone
"Oh yes! Thank you! We'll get right to it!" "I-- wait- I don't have to sign anything?"
"Well it's not that hard to take care of fish love, just feed em and watch them swim about their sad little lives!" Heh funny
After she showed you around, she said she was gonna close up shop for the day before-
"Hey uh excuse me?" Oh? First customer!
"Yeah uh do you have a goldfish with one fin?"..one fin? Any other gold fish and he wants one with one fin?...okay
"Uh sir? We have plenty more gold fish with two fins-" "no I need one with one fin!"..
"Sir, please calm down or we'll have to ask you to leave" "okay yeah uh...just give me a goldfish..and hurry, please."
You went to get the gold fish and hand it to the man "here you are sir, a gold fish with two fins! Take care!" He payed you
"Shit let's hope so." and just like that he was gone.
"Weirdo" said the woman
"Maybe he needs it for..something? Art?" You said
"Yeah..anyways darling here's your pay" she hands you a check for 50 dollars
"I- OH MY GOD!" You damn near yelled
She looks at you with confusion as you let out a nervous laugh
"Sorry..I just didn't expect this much holy cow!" "You've done well for you first day on the job!" She pats you on the shoulder
"Now let's go before some other weirdo comes for a blue puffer fish!"
Later that evening you had went to look for a place to settle, when you couldn't find you decind to cross the towns, you went into an alley way and hurried because you didn't want to die in there.
Qnd you came out safely until some random woman wondered up to you qnd asked for you hands, you thought she was gonna rob you so you politely declined, you started to walk way
When you felt her hands grab you and pull you into the alley way.. fucker.
She shoves you against the wall and roughly grabbed your hands
Suddenly, a man in a white suit and cape, came down from the ceiling, and tossed the woman across the alley way, his fists were bloody, and dripping
You sat there, terrified, holy shit, this was how you were gonna die, oh my god.
The man spoke "hey kid you okay?" He sounded familiar?
"Uh..yeah.. just winded I think I'll be okay" "okay, you got a place to stay? Anywhere to go?"..."no"...
"Okay then come with me". He grabbed you hand as gently as he could as he had the feeling they'd be sore tomorrow
He led you in front of a flat, you walked to the front and turned around "hey man thanks-"..he was gone.
After you went in to apply, you promised you'd have more money to pay off the rent
It was a big flat honestly
Just a bed which was fixed pretty good, and a fridge with a couple of food left, you threw out the expired stuff, and layer down
You began to charge your phone and set an alarm.
"7:00"
Okay.
This was your life now.
This is your home.
Can't believe this all happend in one day.
but.
What were you gonna do about it?
You worked at a fish shop
••••••••••
Holy shit, omg YAY :D
just a big thanks to @80pairsofcrocs for the name, and the courage, they're honestly the best person I've met on this app, and I gotta say, I really do love you guys, it may not seem like much here but thank you, seriously <3

My favourite Ari & Dante quotes:
The problem with my life was that it was someone else's idea.
As far as I was concerned, the sun could have melted the blue right off the sky. Then the sky would be as miserable as I was.
I decided to go swimming at the Memorial Park pool. It was a small idea. But at least the idea was mine.
It was better to be alone and miserable. It was better to drown.
We laughed. We always laughed.
I got to thinking that poems were like people. Some people you got right off the bat. Some people you just didn't get--and never would get.
I didn't care about what they meant. I didn't care because what mattered is that Dante's voice felt real. And I felt real.
Words were different when they lived inside of you.
"You said don't drown--so I found someone to help me keep my promise."
Dante. I really liked him. I really, really liked him.
And I wondered what my dad looked like when he was my age. My mother had told me he was beautiful. I wonder if he'd been as beautiful as Dante. And I wondered why I thought that.
I wanted to tell her that happy was hard for me. But I think she already knew that. "Well," I said, "I'm at that phase where I'm supposed to be miserable."
I didn't care for Aristotle either. And even though I knew I was named after my grandfather, I also knew I had inherited the name of the world's most famous philosopher. I hated that. Everyone expected something from me. Something I just couldn't give. So I renamed myself Ari. If I switched the letter, my name was Air. I thought it might be a great thing to be air. I could be something and nothing at the same time. I could be necessary and also invisible. Everyone would need me and no one would be able to see me.
But Mr. Quintana was brave. He didn't care if the whole world knew he was kind.
Before she left, Mrs. Quintana took my face between her two hands, looked right into my eyes, and whispered, "Aristotle Mendoza, I will love you forever."
My mother and father held hands. I wondered what that was like, to hold someone's hand. I bet you could sometimes find all the mysteries of the universe in someone's hand.
"I went swimming today," he said. "How was it?" "I love swimming." "I know," I said. "I love swimming," he said again. He was quiet for a little while. And then he said, "I love swimming--and you." I didn't say anything. "Swimming and you, Ari. Those are the things I love the most."
"I love the rain," my mother whispered. I love it too. I love it too. I felt like I was the saddest boy in the universe. Summer had come and gone. Summer had come and gone. And the world was ending.
I learned how to swim this summer. No, that's not true. Someone taught me. Dante. I tore out the page.
I'd figured something out about myself: on the inside, I wasn't like my dad at all. On the inside I was more like Dante. That really scared me.
"That's a very Dante question," I said. "That's a very Ari answer," he said. And then we started laughing and couldn't stop. And I missed him so much.
"What about your party?" "Watching you loosen up, Ari. That's a party. We'll even score the beer for you," she said. "To celebrate the end of school."
When I stopped the truck, I got out, slamming the door . "Shit! I forgot about the beer." "We don't need the beer," Dante whispered. "We need the beer! We need the fucking beer, Dante!" I don't know why I was yelling. The yelling turned into sobs. I fell into Dante's arms and cried. He held me and didn't say a word. Another secret of the universe: Sometimes pain was like a storm that came out of nowhere. The clearest summer morning could end in a downpour. Could end in lightning and thunder.
The summer sun was not meant for boys like me. Boys like me belonged to the rain.
Dante laughed. "I wasn't really kissing Daniel. In my head, I was kissing you." I shrugged. "You got to get yourself a new head, Dante."
what do you love, Ari? What do you really love?" "I love the desert. God, I love the desert." "It's so lonely." "Is it?" Dante didn't understand. I was unknowable.
my father nodded. "Ari, the problem isn't just that Dante's in love with you. The real problem--for you, anyway--is that you're in love with him."
"Try it again," I said. "Kiss me." "No," he said. "Kiss me." "No." And then he smiled. "You kiss me."
How could I have ever been ashamed of loving Dante Quintana?

Billy was in a bad mood. It was the first week of summer which was bad enough with the crowds of people flocking to the pool. But on top of that Adam expected Billy to spend all week training three new lifeguards, one of whom was you, who he knew for a fact needed swimming lessons.
Billy had his suspicions about why Adam hired you. Within three days of working at the pool you had the same effect on the dads in town he had on the moms. He hadn’t minded working with you at first. At least he knew you. The other two just gawked uselessly at him. You irritatingly asked question after question hoping to get everything right the first time. That’s what he’d liked about you back in highschool when you’d trailed around after Carol Perkins. You were a people pleaser. He liked when people tried to please him.
If he heard his name again today he felt like he might actually kill someone. Billy stepped under the water of the staff shower, stripping out of his clothes, hoping the movement of the water drilling down on his skin would relax him. The smell of chlorine washed off and Billy sighed, staring up at the shower head. He heard the staff room door open out at the front then the door to the staff shower room opened.
“Billy? Are you in here?” You asked no doubt sent by the others to appease him as he’d already screamed at one of the new lifeguards today. He could hear you running. Six times today he’d told you not to run. Billy shut off the water as he grabbed his towel and grumbled under his breath. Before he could wrap the towel around himself you hurried past and slipped. Billy’s arm shot out and his hand grabbed at your arm to lessen the blow of your fall.
“How many times do I need to tell you not to fucking run.” Billy said slowly. His voice was harsh and he watched as you looked up at him with wide eyes. For a moment he wondered if perhaps he hadn’t caught you as well as he thought and you’d smacked your head as you looked doe eyed and startled. Looking down at himself he realised it was most likely the fact that he was stark naked and you landed pretty much in eye level with his dick.  “You look confused. Is this the first time you’ve seen someone naked?”
“No. no.” You stuttered. Billy smirked a little. That was definitely a yes.
“What do you want?” He asked. He still had a firm grip on your arm but you made no effort to move. He watched your eyes stray down his body a few times but he could see you desperately trying to look anywhere else but his dick. You looked up at him dumbly and he sighed. “You came running in here for something.”
“I don’t remember.” You said quietly and looked quite embarrassed. Billy smiled to himself realising he was the one who had dazed you. “Oh. Adam said he wanted you.”
“What the fuck does he want now.” Billy’s words made you look more startled as he forced you up to your feet and let you go, wrapping his towel around himself. “Well?”
“He. wants you to show the new lifegard how to lock up the pool floats.” You answered quietly. He glared at you as you opened your mouth to add to the list but he held up his finger.
“Tell that motherfucker that I have been here training you morons since six am. He’s lucky I’ve stayed fifteen minutes after closing and not quit on him like everyone else.” Billy snapped. He looked down at the towel for a moment, securing it and reaching for his trunks that lay in a wet heap at the bottom of the shower. He swore when he looked up and you were gone.
As he went to his locker he heard the staff doors opening. He glanced at the shower doors expecting Adam to come in and yell at him. You burst through instead, still running. You slipped again skidding and keeping your balance but almost colluding face first into Billy’s chest because he refused to move and you were a good foot and half shorter than him.
“No running.” You said sheepishly before Billy could open his mouth to say it. He rolled his eyes and opened his locker. “What did he say?”
“Um. He. He said, ``You have to stay?” You stuttered it in a way that made Billy glare down at you. He leaned in, looking you in the eye with a face of thunder. His finger wrapped around your wrist to stop you fleeing. “Is that really what he said?” Billy asked. He could tell that you were lying. You were easy to read. Your eyes were wide and you stood in his grip like a caught baby rabbit. Nodding slowly he mimicked you, nodding his head with a fiery look in his eyes. Slowly, through gritted teeth he said. “What. Exactly did he say to you?”
“He. He said that he was going home and you had to finish up and he doesn’t give a. Sh. shit that you have been her all day. If everything on his list doesn’t get done he’ll dock your pay for the whole week.” You stuttered out, shrinking under Billy’s glare. It made Billy smile a little when you stuttered and almost whispered the word shit as if it was the first time you’d sworn. The smile didn’t last long though as he stormed towards the exit still in just a towel. “But we almost locked up the snack bar and got the pool floats away and we…” You were babbling on as you hurried after Billy. Running yet again to keep pace with him. He turned so suddenly you yelped audibly as he glared at you.
“Stay there.” He snapped at you and walked to the shower room doors. He could hear you plodding after him so he turned. “I said stay. Fucking. There!”  He snapped and pointed to a spot on the floor, pulling you to stand on it. He gestured with a pointed finger that you should stay. Doing what he asked, seeing as he looked furious you waited. You could hear him yelling and screaming at people outside the doors. He was gone so long that your feet started to ache. You hopped from one foot to the other wondering if Billy was serious about you staying put. Just as you decided that maybe you could leave and ask to not be on the same shift as Billy for a while he burst back into the room.
“At least one of you can fucking listen.” He grumbled as he passed you. Pausing to grab your face in his hands, squishing your cheeks a little. “Good girl.” His words made your body tingle pleasantly.
“Can I go now?” You asked. He sighed, yanking his stuff out of his locker and stomping towards the doors.
“No. You go home when I do.” He said. As he passed you by he paused and sighed. “You can follow me now.”
“Have you worked here long? Adam did my interview. I was supposed to work at the front desk but he said I was too cute to not wear a lifeguard uniform…” You spoke quickly and about nothing that interested Billy. Though he did see the appeal of you in a uniform. You were cute. Not in a bend me over and fuck me kind of way but in a way that made Billy want to see if he could shove his entire dick down your throat to shut you up and see how wide your pretty eyes could go. In all honesty he wanted nothing more than to shove you in the pool and leave you there as your constant chattering and questions irritated him more than he could admit even to himself. When he heard a squeal and splash Billy stopped. Looked at his outstretched hand and then at you, flailing in the pool as you sank down in the water.
“Fuck.” He said. He honestly hadn’t actually meant to or even intended to shove you in but there you were. Dropping his towel on the side of the pool he jumped in, wrapping his arms around you and lifting you up. You spluttered and flailed, smacking him in the face which was when he pinched at your nose. “Breathe through your mouth and cough that shit up you’ll get sick.” Billy instructed. You did and he felt you calm, before you processed, what happened and tried to wriggle out of arms despite the fact that if he let you go, you would sink again.
“You pushed me in! Into the deep end too! I can’t even touch the bottom.” You sounded so pitiful and your stupid pretty eyes were looking so big and teary eyed that something in Billy twinged.
“I didn’t mean to.” He admitted. Not willing to apologise. You were snuffling like you might cry and your eyes welled with tears. “I’ll get you out.” He swam awkwardly with you clinging to him and pried you off so he could sit you on the side of the pool. He heaved himself out, rolling his eyes when you squeaked, seeing he’d jumped in naked. He snatched up his towel and threw it down on one of the sunbeds. Laying down he looked over at you. He was no longer in a rush to go home. His roommate would be leaving in an hour to start their night shift so if he waited another thirty minutes, he wouldn’t even see them until the next evening.
“I want to go home now. Everyone else has gone.” You said quietly. He should let you go.
“You leave when I leave.” He snapped. Closing his eyes he scolded himself. All week you’d done in his head and he wanted nothing more than to get rid of you. “Go into the front office and get the blue key.”
You hurried off, relieved to be away from Billy for a moment. Returning with it he sent you to a cupboard which, when you turned the key, did something to the pool. He didn’t tell you what. Then he sent you to fetch a yellow key to turn all the lights off and lastly a green key to lock up all the doors. “Good.” Billy said to you as he got up. He carried his bag and towel to the front desk and dumped it down, fishing in the bag for his boxers. Billy headed into the back pulling them on as he slumped down in the office chair to change the pool cameras from manual to auto overnight. You followed him in and watched curiously. He motioned you over and explained that during the day someone watches the cameras but during the night they move on their own but they have to swapped over and it took a few minutes. Before you could ask him a million questions Billy yanked you to sit between his legs and showed you what he was doing.
“Would you like a lift home?” Billy asked casually. You looked over your shoulder at him.
“If I say yes will you push me in front of your car?” You asked. He narrowed his eyes at you.
“I might if you keep talking to me like that. I’m sorry I pushed you in the pool. I was having a bad day.” Billy grumbled. He saw you smile and you twisted between his legs to face him better.
“So if. I had a bad day. I can push you in the pool?” You asked. Billy chuckled.
“Unlike you I wouldn’t sink. I doubt you could push me in anyway. You’re not very big.” Billy pinched a little at your arm which you pulled away from his fingers. The computer beeped and Billy lifted you out of his lap so he could shut everything else down. Then he grabbed his things and headed out to the carpark. He turned to see you following him. You had grabbed your bag on the way out, a pink backpack on with flowers all over it, of all things. He rolled his eyes but smiled a little. It suited you.
“Where to?” He asked as he pulled out of the car park.
“On the corner next to the Hideaway pub.” You answered. Billy nodded, needing no more direction than that.
“I pass by here on my way to work. I could pick you up.” Billy offered. For the next month Billy pulled up outside, slammed on the horn and made you run out to the car or he’d leave you. He’d drop you home too. He even gave you a few hours of swimming lessons though he refused to let you sit in the lifeguard chair as he deemed you ‘shiter at swimming than a dead fish’. The only thing you really hadn’t managed to get to grips with was Adam. He cornered you at every opportunity, giving you tasks that meant you’d have to hang around with him.
“(Y/N). Good job.” Adam said. You’d finished the paperwork he’d given you, keeping you in the office with him all morning, organising it meticulously. He dumped it on his desk and as you turned to leave to get on with your next job you felt his hand slap down on your ass. You felt yourself heat up with anger. The last time he did that you’d turned around and told him not to but he simply seemed amused. Storming off you rounded the pool, angry tears pricking your eyes as you tried to move onto your next task without bursting into tears. Seeing Billy by the pool edge talking with another lifeguard you suddenly understood why he’d shoved you. So you made the terribly smart decision of shoving Billy into the pool. In front of everyone. Billy stumbled, not expecting to be shoved and fell in with a large splash while you hurried to the back store room.
Billy stormed in after you, his face furious, water dripping from him, pooling on the floor around his feet. He stopped when he saw you had tears on your cheeks and your chest heaving as you clenched your fists.
“Is that what you look like angry because it’s pathetic.” Billy snapped. You turned away from him and he rolled his eyes, spotting something on your leg. “What happened?” “Adam won't leave me alone.” You mumbled and pulled at your swimming costume. Billy’s calloused fingers stroked gently over the skin that Adam had slapped so harshly, it had come up in a slight hand shaped lump. “I tried to find somewhere else to work but no one is hiring.” You said trying not to burst into tears. Billy didn’t say anything for a while as you stayed in the store room and sniffled. He did however suddenly put a hand out, slamming the door on whoever tried to get in and giving you more privacy.
“Are you done crying? If he sees you it’ll just make him do it more.” Billy warned. You frowned at him.
“Why?” You asked in a still shaky voice. Billy sighed. He wasn’t quite sure how to break it to you that your big eyes and pretty lips made you the exact kind of girl that men wanted choking down on their dicks with tears in your eyes so crying in front of Adam would have the exact opposite effect if you wanted him to stay away.
“He’s a fucking ass.” He answered instead. Rolling his tongue over his teeth Billy came to the conclusion that hiding out from Adam in a place so small would be just as bad seeing as it entices him to chase. “Stand here.” Billy barked firmly and pointed to a spot in front of him.
“Why?” You asked, doing exactly as he asked despite questioning him.
“Because I said so. Here.” He reached up and wiped the tears out of your eyes, telling you to look up and count to five. The watery tears in your eyes seemed to vanish and he nodded. “If he does it again, punch him in the dick.” Was all he said before leaving you alone.
Billy was supposed to leave before closing. His shift ended hours ago but he stayed put, trying to keep an eye on you. While you were supposed to help Adam lock up you noticed Billy lingering. He eventually managed to get Adam to leave while he sorted the cameras. Once you finished locking up you came to the office and took a seat between Billy’s legs to watch the camera’s change over. It was a habit that the two of you had developed over the last month. You leaned back into his chest and Billy rested his hands on your legs.
“Billy?” You asked curiously. Billy sighed. He hated that tone of voice. It either ment you were going to ask him something stupid or he was going to have to help you with something.
“Yes sweetheart.” He said in a condescending voice that made you tingle.
“Do you think if I had sex with someone else who worked at the pool Adam would get annoyed and leave me alone?” You asked. Billy narrowed his eyes and frowned at you suspiciously. You’d been a little clingy after the whole eyeful of his dick you’d gotten during your first week but it hadn’t come up again since then. His ego had told him you’d try to jump his bones as soon as you could but you never asked.
“Maybe. If you picked the right person.” Billy muttered honestly. Turning so that your cheek was against his chest and he had to look down to see your face, you pointed across the room.
“What if we did it in front of that camera?” You asked, pointing right at the camera in the corner of the office. There it was, Billy thought. He’d been waiting for you to pull something like this. Admittedly he didn’t think he would ever feel so attached when it happened. “I bet if I gave you a blow job on the camera he'd get really pissed.”
Billy stared at you as the cogs in his mind whirred. When you looked back up at him he had an odd expression on his face. Manhandling you to face him, making you straddle his thigh so you could kneel on the chair he grinned.
“You’re a little fuck bunny.” Billy said with amusement. You shook your head slowly and frowned at him. “Yes you fucking are. You look all cute and innocent but you want to fuck more than I do.”
“No.” You said quietly. Billy smiled and looked at you up and down. His head tilted to one side and a mocking look crossed his face as he shifted you to one side of the chair and he slid his hands into his swimming trunks. You sat back on his thigh and watched his face as he grasped himself in his trunks and started to pump himself. Billy had assumed if he was right your hand would have followed his hand into his shorts but you looked at him with sparkly eyes and a fascination with the way that someone would if they were having their first time with a person they really liked. Billy had seen it enough times when he’d hook up. Maybe you just hadn’t found the right person to wind you up and set you loose yet. He could feel you getting wet through your swimming trunks on his thigh just from the sound of him moaning.
He kept a large hand on your back keeping you steady as you fidgeted trying to find friction on his thick thigh while watching the way his eyes fluttered with each pump of his hand. Maybe he was wrong. Billy thought to himself. Maybe it was just him that made you horny he thought as he watched the way your eyes scanned over his chest and back to his face, not once down to his hand in his shorts. It frustrated him a little that you wouldn’t want to see him jerk off. Pulling his trunks down awkwardly he shifted in the swivel chair moving so you could lay your head on his shoulder and watch him jerk off.
“Here.” He said almost gently as you continued to squirm, getting wetter at the sight of his dick than he thought you would. Moving his hand from your back guiding your hand to the side of your swimming costume. He pulled at the elastic, one thick finger gently stroking between your folds, finding your clit expertly, stroking over the bundle of nerves a few times as if he couldn’t help himself. You sank against his chest and Billy hummed at the way you caved into him. “Touch yourself.” He said with a firm voice. His fingers stopped and guided your own to replace his.
He moved so he could watch you, leaning against him and circling the bud of nerves, your face contorting with different expressions as you tried your best to copy the way his practised fingers had touched you. He smiled when he realised you weren’t quite as good as him. When you tried to coax his hand back to touch you he chuckled.
“Please.” You asked with big doe eyes and a pout. He let go of his dick and gripped your arm pulling you flush with his chest and higher on your knees.
“Jerk me off and I’ll touch you. If you stop, I stop. Understand?” He asked with a firm, commanding voice. You nodded against his shoulder as he let you tuck your head under his chin so you could be close to him again. Sliding his hand down your arm he grasped your hand guiding you to wrap your hand around his shaft. He sighed pleasantly when you started to slowly pump him. “Good girl.”
You tried to focus on the way you pumped Billy, gently squeezing him and twisting your wrist slightly, his hips rocked up to your hand and he made pleasant gasps and moans. As he promised Billy’s fingers returned to your core but this time instead of focusing on your clit he stroked up and down your slit, teasing your hole. The noises that you made in response to each stroke made his cock twitch, precum started to gather at the tip as he got harder. The sight of him so hard made you whimper.
“You want me to fuck you (Y/N)?” Billy asked as you grew wetter and squirmed more under his touch. You nodded against his neck. “Ok sweetheart.” Pulling his hand away from your core he gripped one of your legs, moving you so you straddled his waist. He could have used his fingers to stretch you out. He thought to himself as he pulled your swimming costume all the way to the side and lined himself with your entrance. He could have but the thought of your pussy stretching around him was too much to pass up. He gripped your hips, guiding you down onto him slowly. Your nails dug into his shoulders, scratching across his arms and chest. He smiled to himself as he thought about the fact that tomorrow he’d be showing up to work, his only shift you weren’t working together, with your marks all over him.
“Billy!” You gasped as you clung to him. You pulled away to look at him with wide eyes, panicking a little. “You’re too big.” You said in your sweet voice. Billy hummed pleasantly at those words and shushed you as he smiled, almost flattered by the panic.
“Don’t worry sweetheart. Just relax.” He said in his nasal tone he used when he was talking down to someone he thought much stupider than him. He started to gently thrust up into you, each time burying his cock deeper until with the last thrust he buried himself fully inside you and you collapsed against his chest with a soft moan. His hand squeezed at your ass cheek and he took a moment to enjoy the feeling of being deep inside you. Your walls clenched and relaxed around his cock while he relaxed, his breath hitching but even you were a little mess in his arms. Stroking up your arms Billy, making sure only your back was visible to the camera, pulled your swimming costume down and pressing you flush against his chest. The feeling of your soft, warm body pressed against him made Billy’s cock twitch and your walls clench around him. He heard the beeping of the camera letting him know that the office camera had now turned off and the security had switched to automatic but Billy didn’t move.
“Billy?” You mumbled.
“Yeah.” He answered, stomach churning that you might ask to get up.
“The camera’s are done, we can go home.” You were still pressed against him in his arms and made no effort to move an inch. Billy’s hand stroked up and down your back. He wouldn’t admit it to anyone but it had been a while since someone had been this gentle with him.
“I know.” Billy muttered. The two of you stayed clung together until the lights turned off. Billy heard you giggled slightly and decided it would be best to finish what he started. He couldn’t see your face as it was so dark but he felt your forehead pressed against his as he wrapped his arms around your waist, thrusting up into you. Your hands ran up and down his arms, across his chest and over his shoulders as if you needed to touch him desperately. As your walls clenched around him you let out the softest sweetest sigh of his name and drove him to the edge. The coil that had wound tighter and tighter snapped and he came, filling you with hot spurts as he continued to thrust into you, riding his high, hearing you break and crumble as well, your nails bit into his shoulder blades as his grip on you slackened in his haze. Billy's eyes fell shut and he moved to hold you firmly by your hips, keeping them sunk down on his softened dick as he caught his breath. When he was ready he pulled himself from you, pulling his swim trunks up and fixing your costume, secretly rather pleased that his cum mixed with yours was seeping into the fabric. Your legs were too shaky for him to make you stand so once he was done pulling the straps of your costume up back over your arms he picked you up and carried you to his car. He left you there without a word as he went to fetch your things before coming back and put them in the back of the car as he got in and drove to your apartment. He didn’t even bother turning on the radio like he usually did on the ride home.
“Think you can manage to get inside without me carrying you?” He asked suddenly as he pulled up outside your apartment.
“Yes.” You said quietly. When you looked at him you could make out scratches all over his arms and shoulders in the dim light of the street lamp.
“They’ll be gone in a couple of days. You didn’t maim me too badly.” Billy said. He chuckled when you looked relieved that you hadn’t hurt him.
“I have the day off tomorrow.” You said when you had nothing better to say.
“I know. I could drop by after my shift?” Billy asked. You nodded and let him move closer, leaning over the stick shift as he reached a hand to cup the back of your head and kiss you.

Stuck on the puzzle: Chapter two
previous | next | masterlist
pairing: Luke Castellan x Olivia Messer (daughter of Apollo oc)
word count: 2,9k
summary: Two best friends are starting an auspicious summer. Set the summer before part one (almost a year earlier).
Tumblr media
The clock was ticking slow. So. Fucking. Slow. Luke felt like someone was slowing it down or purpose. And who knows, maybe someone was. Some god he had pissed off without knowing. But he didn't ponder too much. Only five minutes and he'd be free. His thoughts were already moving forward towards the idea of summer. Summer campers were arriving at different times, but most of them would be there today already. He could do more exiting sword fighting lessons, now that he once again had more participants and best of all, the Apollo cabin had a new camper who seemed very gifted at healing which meant Olivia would get some extra time off this summer.
They'd planned it all out. A morning swim at least once a week, some time to lay on the pier and sunbathe and most importantly, they would absolutely wreck anyone and everyone at capture the flag.
The bell rang and he gathered his stuff, ready to walk out, when Sheila Widows fell into step with him.
"Excited for summer?" she asked.
"Like you wouldn't believe", he sighed.
"I don't get how you can be so happy when you don't get to see any of us", she pouted.
"Distance makes the heart grow fonder", he joked.
"What kind of a foster home doesn't let the kids leave or have friends over though?" she persisted.
The year round kids at Camp half-blood were distributed across different schools in New York to avoid the threat of too many demigods attracting monsters. It didn't always work, per the 'empusa at a pep rally' incident, but it was safe enough. The cover story they all used to explain why they lived together and weren't (usually) related was that they stayed at a foster home in upstate New York.
"The kids there are going through a lot especially the small ones. They can't really handle visitors. And I can leave-"
"You just don't want to", the pout was back.
"I just have a lot of responsibility there. The kids need me."
"It's cute how much you care about them."
"I'll see if I can come, but we might be a bit busy with-"
He was interrupted by someone jumping on his back. He didn't have to wrack his brain much to figure out who it was. The yelp of joy was enough of a hint.
"We're fucking FREE!" Olivia yelled.
Luke laughed and did a twirl, holding onto the arms she'd wrapped on his front. She let out a yelp and hopped down. He squeezed her into tight hug.
"Although my excitement is slightly dampened by the mountain of summer reading Ms. Hobbs gave us", she sighed.
"That was the dampened version?" Sheila meant it to come out teasing, but her tone was just slightly too serious.
"Which is probably for the best. Can't have you blowing the roof off this place", Luke laughed and let her go, leaving his arm to rest around Olivia's shoulders. "And lucky for you, Ms. Hobbs religiously recycles the readings. You can just copy off mine from last year."
"The day just keeps getting better", she beamed up at him.
"You'll owe me though."
"I most certainly won't. You're the one who owes me."
"You've got it all wrong. Remember when I-"
"Let's settle it later", Olivia cut him off with a quick glance to Sheila.
"Anyway, we should probably find Chris, right?"
"He's off with some friends, Argus is picking up some new kids for the summer first so he'll be another two hours. Which means-"
"Luke has time to hangout?" Sheila butted in. "Perfect."
Olivia and Luke looked at each other.
"Uh...yeah", Olivia said awkwardly.
"Were you going to suggest we go to that ice cream place?" Luke was still looking at Olivia.
"No, no! I mean...yes, but you can go with Sheila."
"Exactly, you two will see each other for the entire summer!" Sheila mused.
"You sure?" Luke asked Olivia once more, expression unreadable.
"I'm sure. Callie and Meredith were going to go to central park anyway. I'll get to join them now", Olivia subtly shook Luke's hand off her shoulder. "I'll see you here at five."
She walked off, hiding her face.
"Be safe", Luke yelled after her.
"You too!"
He tried not to frown. It's not that he didn't like Sheila. She was nice, pretty and when he was with her he wasn't reminded of the responsibilities he had at camp or the dangers lurking behind every corner. Besides, Sheila was right, from here on out he could spend pretty much every day with Olivia if he wanted to. He decided he wouldn't try to figure out why Olivias smile didn't fully reach her eyes when they said goodbye and went on with Sheila.
Luke returned to the school where Olivia and Chris Rodriguez, who had arrived to camp two months ago were waiting for Argus. Luke wanted let out a sigh of relief when Olivia said she was dead tired and leaned on his shoulder to nap for the ride back to camp.
At camp they were almost immediately separated. As counselors, their first job was to help the summer campers unpack in their cabins and after that they were almost immediately rushed to a counselors meeting about the summer itinerary. Once that was settled, it was already time for dinner, which also required them to do some policing around since the amount of kids had almost doubled from the day before. From there it was directly to the campfire where Olivia and Luke managed to sit together for an entirety of five minutes until they had to stop a marshmallow fight that was about to turn real between the Ares and Hephaestus cabins. That put a bit of a quick stop to the bonfire and after the debacle that was trying to get the youngest kids to brush their teeth properly (a task that mainly Olivia took seriously) it was finally time for a bedtime story and lights out.
Which meant that it was time for the older campers to go to their start of summer party. Olivia let her siblings go first, straining from the path to the lake to someone waiting for her on the front stairs of the Hermes cabin, holding two cans of red bull and a small bottle of vodka.
"That's so incredibly bad for your heart, Castellan", she sighed as she sat down.
"I don't think you get to chastise me when you drink them yourself, doc", he chuckled.
"Everyone has their vices."
"I'll cheers to that."
"I'll cheers to Mr. D for vodka red bulls."
They clinked their cans together, their own little pregame.
"I considered skipping out, you know", Olivia sighed. "My bed has never looked more appealing."
"You know I couldn't have let you do that. I would've dragged you out."
"And woken up half the camp in the progress, undoing everything we worked so hard for today."
"I don't know how we do this every year."
"And yet we do."
With their red bulls half drunk, they filled the rest of their cans with vodka.
"How was your date", Olivia asked after a few sips.
"Wasn't a date."
"What makes you think that?"
"I would've known if it was a date."
"It was so obviously a date."
"We're just friends, we've hung out before."
An eye roll.
"Never just the two of you, though."
"Still. It wasn't a date."
"Fine. I'll give you that, but that doesn't take away the fact that she definitely likes you."
"Maybe. But no use thinking about it now. I'll see her again in the fall."
"Will you two go on a date then?"
He shrugged.
"Like I said, no use thinking about it now."
"I suppose so."
"Got any predictions for tonight?"
This was Luke's favorite game. Olivia was gifted with the tiniest bit of prophecy, nothing that's ever going to change lives, as she put it, but sometimes she had vague inklings of things before they happened.
"Lots of strong emotions, although I feel like that describes every start of summer party ever. Reunions, anger and...love. That's what I'm getting, anyway."
"And you've never been wrong."
"I feel like one of those women's magazine that has the daily horoscope predictions in it. Anything can come true if it's vague enough and you have some speck of imagination."
"Or you're always right about everything."
"Are you getting absolutely wasted on one shot of vodka or are you having a stroke?"
Luke grabbed her shoulder and pulled her into him dramatically.
"Revel in it now, 'cause I'll never repeat it but you, Olivia Messer, are a genius and I'm proud to call you my best friend", Luke declared.
She laughed into his neck.
"And I don't care who knows it!"
"Shh, you're going to wake up the cabin!" Olivia gasped from laughter. "And you're also such a lightweight."
"No I'm not!"
"You're drunk!"
"Nuh-uh!"
"Better get to this party before you fucking black out", she teased.
Olivia made a motion to get up and stumbled a bit, swaying to the side when she stood up.
"Well it's nice to know I'm not the only one", Luke laughed.
"Yeah well...race you to the party!"
They stumbled through the woods, hand in hand, for safety reasons obviously, although they were supposed to be racing each other. A lot of the older campers were gathered around a tiny, makeshift fire drinking cheap beers smuggled in by the Hermes cabin.
"Oh great, the narcs have arrived", a fairly new Ares kid, part of the crowd starting the marshmallow fight, groaned.
"Not right now, dude", Luke grinned. "You kids are going to have to sort out your own issues."
"And no one's allowed to get hurt", Olivia declared, taking another sip "Or better yet, get hurt all you want, see if I care, 'cause I'm not on duty tonight!"
"Wow, is that caffeine? After 4pm?" Travis Stoll, one of Lukes brothers, gasped.
"Mom and dad are going fucking crazy tonight", Connor Still, Travis' identical looking not identical brother, continued.
"Damn right, so crazy, I won't even correct you on the fact that I told you to stop that mom and dad shit", Olivia said.
"With a threat of immense violence, if I recall correctly", Luke said and ruffled the boys' hair as they walked past them.
Luke and Olivia went to sit on little logs by the fire with some friends. Chris was there, he smiled when he saw them. Next to him was Meg, a new camper who'd arrived with Violet, a daughter of Aphrodite just that day. Poor girl still looked a little confused by everything, but she was nursing a cup of something that looked like it might make the whole thing more digestible.
"How you holding up? Meg, right?" Luke asked.
You can take the man from the cabin, but you can't take the cabin from the man.
"You know, everything is absolutely insane."
"It doesn't get any less crazy, you just have to get crazy with it", Olivia said. "You'll fit in just fine."
"We should do an ice breaker!" Violet gasped.
"Truth or dare! Truth or dare!" the Stolls started chanting.
Which is why, after a few rounds of people making out or admitting when they'd last peed their pants, Luke and Olivia were now standing on the pier, debating whether or not they should keep their clothes on.
Technically it was only Olivia who had been assigned this certain task, but Luke said someone has to stop her from drowning, with all the vodka she'd drunk (he'd had more).
"I think we go full skinny dip", Luke said.
"Of course you do. You'll be fine with any excuse to take your shirt off."
"I'd think that as a doctor-"
"I'm not a doctor."
"-you should know that walking around in wet clothes is extremely dangerous and could cause you to catch a cold."
"Underwear."
"Excuse you?"
"We'll strip down to our underwear and jump."
"Alright professor boring", Luke sighed.
"I'm just saying that us jumping in the lake buttnaked and drunk off our minds right at the beginning of summer will take away any respect or credibility we might have for counselor meetings. Or capture the flag."
"Our credibility is reliant on the fact that we kick ass at everything we do. And people finding out we also kick ass at being naked-"
She sighed, he was so drunk.
"-will not take that away."
"Underwear."
"Still requires you to take some clothes off, you know."
"I'm aware."
"That rhymed. Aware, underwear. Should you be getting to it?"
"I'm getting to it right now."
And with that, she pulled her camp shirt off, shorts soon going down with it.
"Your turn."
Luke chuckled and discarded his garments as well. Although the two had been friends, best of friends for a few years now, they'd been clothed throughout it, despite what Travis and Connor liked to suggest. They both tried not to stare, but with a bottle of vodka in their systems, it wasn't entirely successful. Eventually it took someone, probably the Ares kid, yelling 'Are you going jump or start banging?' for them to plunge in the cold-ish water of the lake.
Their swim ended quickly though, when a nymph started raging at them for 'disturbing her sleep with flying cans and having the gall to swim in her afterwards'. Luke apologized profusely, while Olivia had a different agenda.
"Who's throwing cans?"
The nymph shrugged, said it didn't matter to her, it was one of them. Olivia stumbled out of the water, five feet six inches of pure annoyance, while Luke carefully got out after her.
"Who's. Throwing. Cans?"
Nobody answered for a second.
"It's not that big of a deal", the Ares kid said.
He hadn't spent much time in the Hermes cabin before getting claimed, so she didn't recognize him. Luke clearly did, though.
"Bryce, there's no need in throwing the cans in the water, we'll take care of it", Luke sighed.
"Man, you really have everything figured out", Bruce rolled his eyes.
"You know, Bryce, you really haven't been here long enough to catch a fucking attitude", Olivia said, voice low and dangerous.
"You're cute doc, but you could really relax. Maybe with me, by the stables in a few minutes."
He had no shame in the way he checked her out, eyes stopping at the scar on her waist before coming back up. Luke wanted to punch him, but he didn't.
Olivia beat him to it.
The last thing you want to do is get in a fight with a healer. Because they know which part of your jaw to aim for.
Not that it was much of a fight. All that ego and yet Bryce didn't take an effort to get up. Just complained that she'd broken his jaw. Another problem with pissing off a healer; they're the one that's supposed to heal you. She grabbed his chin (right in the spot she'd punched it), told him it was fine and he should just sleep it off, quit being a baby and start caring about the fucking environment.
"You don't want to make an enemy of me", he tried, but was losing most of his valor.
"I don't think that's going to be a problem. I could argue that I'm going to be a much worse enemy than you'll ever be. So I suggest we sober up, sleep this off and act like it never happened. How's that sound?"
She didn't wait for an answer, just got up and went to get her clothes. Luke followed her grinning, Luke always, kicking sand in Bryces way while he went 'by accident'.
They got dressed and without really saying it, agreed that it was the end of the party for them. Usually when someone gets punched at a party, the puncher or the punchee has to go. In this case Olivia decided it would be the puncher. Mostly because she was dead tired. They walked in silence for a while, but when Luke hugged her goodbye in front of the Hermes cabin, Olivia didn't want to go.
"Luke", she said into his neck.
"Liv", was his response.
"I haven't been sleeping."
"Nightmares?"
"Nightmares."
"About what?"
"Nothing, really. Or nothing visual. Just feelings; sadness, danger, loss. I don't know what it means. Or if it's even prophetic. I think that's what makes it worse."
"I have nightmares too. But more of the same-old. Monsters, ancient creatures crawling out of Tartarus and me dying over and over again."
She didn't know if it was the vodka, sleep-deprivation or coldness that was now seeping into her bones, but she couldn't help asking.
"Can I sleep with you?"
She felt him tense a little around her. It wasn't as if they hadn't fallen asleep together before. They usually went by the pier when they couldn't sleep and had woken up there more times than they could count. But they'd never spent the night in each other's cabins. Or arms for that matter.
"It's just that I always feel better with you there and I don't know maybe it's stupid, but I feel like the nightmares would stop. Maybe. It sounds dumb when I say it."
"No, I-I think it's a good idea too. Anything to get a good night's sleep would be nice", Luke agreed then.
They let go of each other and Luke led Olivia to his cabin where she borrowed a shirt and shorts. They did their best to be quiet and hopefully no one woke up when they crammed themselves into Luke's bed. Luke's twin bed. Which of course meant that there was no space unless they cuddled, which was a little awkward at first, but eventually they relaxed and it felt like it was were they were meant to be. Facing each other with their arms wrapped around and legs tangling together felt like peace.
Luke could tell Olivia had fallen asleep quickly from the way her breaths slowed down on his neck, but he took awhile. He wanted to will her nightmares away, make sure that nothing ever bothered her and he was so concerned with that that he fell asleep not even thinking about the next day. When he'd have to explain to his friends and the younger campers why he woke up with the Apollo counselors hair in his mouth. And why she was lying on top of him in the first place.
But that concern was for tomorrow because now he was only hoping that she could find peace in her sleep. And secretly wishing that it was because he brought it to her like she did to him.
